2024.04.30 03:42 outrunningtaxes Behind the curtons at Cousins wedding

Well I had always loved Charlotte's channel and never dreamed about posting here. But I (at the time 24 F) attended my Cousins wedding lets call her Danica. Danica is a few years older then me I'm not sure by how much and are directly related our mothers being sisters.
Here's some history/context before the drama. My dad was in the military and was deployed a lot throughout my childhood so I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house in the middle of the woods.
Danica seemed to be frustrated every time I was there. Whenever I was going something with grandma she'd ask to go ride horses (they had 4 horses at the time) Grandma said I could show a horse, meaning a horse competition. Then Danica asked to show it so I could no longer show the sand horse not sure why.
So with the horse's and middle of nowhere ranch feel she grew up in Danica ended up being a redneck wanna be. Dressing in plaf and cowboy boots going to amature car races where she later met her soon to be husband.
Let's call him Patrick. Patrick worked for Danica's father Uncle Bob #2 (Danica ans my mother have a brother named Bob)
So Danica brings her Dave Matthew's band look alike boyfriend to the holidays. Where hw, just like het father, proceds to go out of his way to not talk to me or be in the same room. To the point when Danica mocks my switch and games I was playing he remarked to her I must not have a lot of friends
Flash forward to 2021 So more content Danicas parents got married on September 10th and our shared grandparents got married on the 12th of September. So what did she choose? Well thr 8th makes since to the pattern right? Well Danica is a attention seeker. So she gets married on September 11th. Yes we are america so she knew full well what day that was and even more crazy wad it was the 20th anniversary of said event.
Guess who's family was affected by September 11th? Ours. Our grandmother's sister was a vet (like animals) and tended to the police dogs and other animals on ground zero. While my father was a military veteran. So he had to not attend certain engagements with his former comrads. My father's arm was twisted by my mother to attend saying it was the only wedding on her side of the family. And possibly the last family wedding we would attend.
My dad has a neice whos married ans has two young kids, and a nephew who's not married. As for me? I'm the oldist of three so she pretty much said she had no hope in her kids getting married.
So the wedding is a 3 day event us haveing to arrive the 10th her parents anniversary meaning they can't do anything since they had to do wedding things. Till the 12th our grandparents haveing to do the same.
The wedding is held at a Waterpark. Not one of the ones you'd think. It's a overnight resort with woods themeing in a city that's 2 hours away for most people. It's a rather popular tourist destination in our state so there was plenty of stuff to do around there but due to the events no one could really go out and explore.
I arrive at around 2 am since I worked the day of the 10th. I had worked at a diffrent Waterpark of the city at the time so it was only a hour drive for me. I get into my room and my dad is already stressed. He suffers from ptsd so he can't handle big things well.
Figuring out what's wrong, I learn my angel of a mother has taken a lot of duties away from her sister and started buying decorations and putting things up. My mother did photography in her youth and still does it as a hobby. (She has a bridzilla story from those days) so she was asked to take photos. This is also the time that I learn that my invite to the wedding was, a bribe. Our grandmother had threatened to cut the funding of the wedding by around 1,000 and my mom not shoot the wedding if I didn't make the cut to her rather large wedding.
Now day of the wedding arrives. My mom finds out Danica hired a photographer as our grandmother chimed in MORE money after I got a invite. (I had never gotten a offical invite either)
Danica and Patrick had a theme to there wedding as most. So the two colors where blaze orange, like hunting gear and traffic Cone orange. As it was Danicas favorite color and Jean blue, like pants as it was Patrick's favorite color.
The guests had a dress code. Cowboy boots blue jeans ans western style tops. Cowboy hats where encouraged.
Getting downstairs to the venue I find my Grandma complaining about Bob #1 not being at the wedding to his son Xander. Bob #1 never sees Xander as he lives with his mother on a diffrent coast of the country after his father was stripped of his rights after a DUI. Or at least I was told.
Turns out Bob #1 didn't come becuse of his wife Rose didn't let him. They offered to pay for him and his new young son Buckley to come. Bob #1 said if they wernt paying for Rose's and her mother's ticket he wasn't comming. So he didn't come.
Buckley was about 4 and that also was the amount of times my grandparents saw him. I had never met him and neither did 99% of the family ad Bob #1 doesn't like to visit. Even though he has 3 collage degrees his parents paid for.
The set pieces on the table where vases filled with orange clear and black orbiz. Obviously fake flowers sit in the vase. Theres blaze orange cups at each table with Patrick's race car number on it.
The best part wad the guest book. To the lift when you entered the hall was a table woth gifts for certain members of the family and all children of the family. The only child on our shared side of the family was Buckley who was not there.
The guest book itself? Well it's a car door. Not just any car door it's pulled from one of Patrick's wrecked race cars. It was cleaned and had no dents in if with a black sharpie to sign. However their was massive black letters and even bigger numbers on the door where the sharpie didn't show up. By the time I got to the guest book there was no room to sign.
Wedding comes and Patrick walks out in a cowboy hat, blue jeans, a stained white dress shirt and cowboy boots. His best men walk out wearing the same. The only difference was he had on a black vest.
Danica and the brides maids where late getting to the wedding. Why? We'll my friend it was becuse the horse Danica was ment to ride in on hated her and didn't want her on them. She swapped horses with a brides maid and off they go. They don't arrive on the horses and we could barely even see them arrive.
Now I use to listen to country music. So I know your Toby Keith (r.i.p) Brad Paisley, and Trace Adkins. So none of them where the country twang song that rung out while Danica walked down the Isle but it was a country song for sure.
She was dressed in a very pretty wedding dress with dome cool leave hair peices. So honestly I felt like I was looking at a beauty and the beast tattoo in real life. Beast in weird lettering and beauty in cursive.
Wedding mostly goes fine aside from our Grandfather who was officiating accidently calling Patrick dick.
We all get up and head into the venue to sit and wait for food and drinks.
A little more about the enigma in my family that is me. I'm autistic so like my father I don't like places like weddings. So I had a ear bud in playing vaporwave music and my sketch book. Drawing keeps me calm and not panic and freak out. So imagen the A24 horror I feel when a elderly family member try to RIP my sketchbook out of my hands.
I, a autistic, lesbian, who loves anime and horror draws some things that could kill a victoran child. So it could evaporate a elderly country type person for sure. I really didn't have anything like that in this sketch book. It was a new sketch book but I was practicing drawing kissing so I had a lot of dudes and chick's kissing on one page. So in a panic I tear it out and stash it in my bag. Earning a yelling lecture from my saint of a mother.
Food is served and guess what? I can't eat any of it. Me and my grandma can't have gluten. I can deal with it better then her. I don't eat beef or pork so the ribs are out of the question and the chicken is slathered in gravey. I have gravy and it has flower in it. So I take a plate full of peas and eat up. They didn't have a cake but a dessert table where I grabbed the dryist cookie in the world.
More time passes and well nothing else happens aside from Xander just hanging out with me and my siblings the rest of the week as he really has no connections to that side of the family and he and my brother are close in age. Danica being the oldist of the grandkids followed by me.
So wedding is over, I tell my friends of the mess of a wedding that was. Well in a discord call with my friends I Go to Danicas Facebook and show them pictures of the wedding.
Your classic, a monster truck jumping over them as they kiss. Danica riding a horse. Patrick dipping her as a monster truck drives past kicking up dirt. The classics.
Well as we laughed and looked I'm struck by a emotional monster truck. I see a family photo that was taken at that fateful September 11th. Me at the sorta middle of the photo there's me. Photo shopped to be fatter and my boobs smaller. Even my friends commented. It wasn't even a good photo shop warping the fence behind me.
Now this year Danica will celebrate her 3 year anniversary of that wedding. The only one I have ever gone to in my adult life. Her husband and father still have never spoken a word to me. And our grandparents replaced all photos of me and my siblings with photos of Danicas wedding.
Moral of the story? I am very thankful to my dad for not letting any of us end up like thar.

2024.04.24 22:13 AutumnWaterMeadow Avid second hand bookshop diver seeks text-based competitive grumble applicants

I'd like to possibly go against the grain here and reveal little to nothing about myself. An odd start you may say; after all without describing my interests and hobbies how are you to know whether we'd be appropriate penpals/keyboardchums? In my eyes though that leaves little to no mystery and no opportunity to discover new pursuits. It does run the risk of discovering after a month of e-mails that we have utterly nothing in common and we've just been wasting one another's time by trying to hold back the urge to type out in all caps "Use a bloody full stop! Sentences don't have to 3 miles long!". But you see I'm a risk taker and willing to play the game. As you will no doubt see by the end of this lengthy inane rambling quaint post, full stops aren't welcome on my property.
What am I looking for? Other than a hole under the hill, a babbling brook and the scent of lavender in the air? Affordable mortgages, food that hasn't lost 50% of its nutritional value over the past century, for the lovely old lady at lunch to stop giving me the evil glare and finally forgive me for dropping the gravy jug a year go, a climate that isn't progressively getting worse, for cats to just be honest and open with their feelings and explain that whilst they love the head scratches they're focusing on themselves right now and aren't looking for anything serious...sorry I've gone off on a tangent. In essence though, that is what I'm looking for. I want us to exchange messages and e-mails where we just talk about everything and anything. None of this "Hey, how's your day been so far?" small talk; in this economy who can afford that? Just dive straight into the meaty part of the conversation. I want your first message to be 12 paragraphs long explaining how you're pretty certain that your next door neighbour has been stealing honey from your hives and how you've concocted a Machiavellian scheme to get the bees to shun their garden and not pollinate any of their flowers. We then go into detailed discussion about how best to convince the bees to get on board and whether the best approach is via bribery, sabotage or simply dressing up as the queen bee and loudly declaring that your neighbour's garden is rather uncouth and shaming them in polite 18th century society.
Perhaps instead you've been delving into Victorian era literature and have fallen in love with how the countryside was described and how simple life seemed; toiling the land, milking cows, putting on our prettiest petticoats on Sundays and occasionally exclaiming "Oh Mr Darcy!" every few minutes. Ignoring of course the rampant inequality, lack of rights for the majority of the population, high mortality rates and child labour. This leads to a discussion about how modern authors just don't seem to be capable of capturing the same imagery any more. Which in turns leads to a theory that authors are paid off by local councils to not describe the leafy suburbs and rolling countryside hills in too greater detail as otherwise the population would rise up en-masse each time new planning permission is granted for hundreds of new builds that will be bought up by financial institutions to be let out at exorbitant rates.
As you may have noticed, I may have a theme in my writing. You may be quick to judge and accuse me of complaining a lot, and though I'd agree I much prefer the term "having a grumble". In truth though, is that not what we all need? Someone with whom we can talk about the smallest day to day annoyances we go through. Someone to whom we can explain our dissatisfaction with life. A grumble grouse. A moan associate. A clamour crony. A...ok thesaurus, in what world is "rap" a strong match for complain? And squawk? Making a high-pitched animal-like sound? That's just a personal attack.
Anyway, tl;dr as I think I've slightly lost the plot and honestly the bread I have in the oven smells like it's burning (or I'm about to have a stroke in which case this won't necessarily get posted, so if it does you know I'm the type of person to ignore the tell-tale signs of a medical conditions because they're too focused on the task at hand to check if in fact the bread is burning)(and that I'm the type of person who prefers long-winded run on sentences rather than getting to the point, despite coyly stating this was a tl;dr).
tl;dr I'm someone who likes to read and write a lot looking for someone or somebodies to exchange long winded paragraphs where we talk about life, problems, whether it's unbecoming to pop an entire poached egg in your mouth and swallow it whole like a pelican, and slowly talk about our interests and hobbies. We've all got our own busy lives and some of us have nefarious schemes involving bumblebees to devise, so something slow and steady would be lovely. The odd message here and there until we get to know one another better, and if you're local (and willing to provide an alibi for any future bee-based shenanigans) then blossoming into friendship as well. It should go without saying, but I'm in a happy relationship (even if I'm not allowed to grumble all the time) so I am looking only for friendship. I'd also prefer it if you were also around your 30s, more so for your own enjoyment as I don't envisage that the kids today want to talk about how MSN messenger was the peak of humanity and every form of communication since has been a hollow copy. Sure Facebook had the poke but nothing quite got someone's attention like a nudge. I'm happy with e-mail or Reddit message, I'd offer snail-mail as well (and even have various moon and animal themed stickers) though I warn you that my handwriting is akin to that of a drunk spider. But not one of those old spiders who laments how no one writes in cursive any more, but rather a young spider who Snapchats and performs burn-outs in the car parks in its Ford Fiesta to the amusement of its other young spider friends.
tl;dr Me like write and read, you also like write and read. Me you type long message, send each other. Me you friends, not food.

2024.03.06 04:50 New-Negotiation7234 Religious cursive book

Someone just posted on a local homeschooling Facebook group for a recommendation for learning cursive that is preferrably religious. What?? One what's the obsession with curvise!! Why does drawing letters have to be from a religious source. Unbelievable. Their poor children

2024.01.22 01:12 Crazy_rose13 Cursive has always been the worst writing style in terms of legibility and it should fall out of use

Cursive can be beneficial to learn and should at least be an elective for art class or something. It can help improve memory and fine motor skills. However cursive is notorious for being illegible and I'm tired of people acting like it's superior and mocking "kids these days" for not knowing it.
It's faster to write in cursive which means less time spent on readability. Plenty of immigrant papers from Ellis Island are damn near impossible to decifer due to being written in cursive. And cursive isn't very friendly for those of us who have dyslexia.
On top of all that, cursive has become damn near obsolete due to the rise of technology. Cursive was only taken out of curriculum in 2010 for the rise of computers and yet 21 states still require cursive in the curriculum. Most of us know cursive and\or have at least learned it.
Cursive is typically used for signature, but your signature can literally be anything. I remember a post on Facebook a couple years back where this dude had cats as his signature. You don't need to learn cursive for any modern reason outside of calligraphy.

2024.01.14 10:15 waterthetomatoes Why Jane Doe is Napkin Lady as Evidenced by Handwriting Patterns

Why Jane Doe is Napkin Lady as Evidenced by Handwriting Patterns
I made a comment on another post regarding this topic and why I think Jane Doe wrote this note.
I feel like for me this is what makes me think without a shadow of a doubt JD wrote this note! I have no idea the reason Karen is complicit (likely not knowing what is clearly going on) but I still don't think Karen wrote this note. Those R's are wayyyy different and the R's look way too similar to JD's. JD still clearly tried to mimic to some degree the style of Karen, but it's got way too many similarities to JD's court docs she filled out. She outs herself as a fraud (just like everything else she tries to doctor in her "evidence") when you can see that she imitated the style, but some certain characteristics stand out.
-The Y's change from loopy to pointy, it's inconsistent. But they look a quite similar to JD's when loopy
-The little loopy thing she does on the TH's - the only TWINS to come out of this
-Those K's are definitely not Karen's K's - they sure do look a lot like JD's K's though...
-The RE's are legit identical to JD's - TWINS AGAIN...Just like JD's claims
-S's seem to be hard for her
-If you notice her U's on MM's restraining order they have no tail, the Napkin the U's have a tail because she's not JD for a moment, she's K A R E N, BUT if you look at her V's as Karen they are identical to JD's U's
-F's look similar but a lot of F's do... still, I have a feeling Karen goes for a low cursive F, idk (speculative I suppose)
-W's - we've got yet another set of identical twins
-AND sign - both use the + sign as "and"
-Capital R's - one of the more obvious dead giveaways
-Lower cased r's have minimal tail
-O's loop the same (wide) and have similar start and end points
-HE's almost come off like they are intentionally separate because she loops them a lot in her own personal writing, but in most of her writing it is not looped together like the napkin, however, "Karen" has much loopieconnective handwriting than JD's, so why wouldn't her HE's? We do see some connectivity not on the actual word "He" but "hear" and "heart" on the napkin.
-M's also loop in JD and "Karen" in a similar fashion
-E's can agruably be similar to the real Karen's but I still think they look like JD's
-When she cares about her writing she has more tail on P's
Idk, ya'll...do we really think this passes the sniff test? I know people found her on facebook, but innocent bystander? Affadavit forged maybe? I saw someone say she was on her podcast, does someone have a link? Aiding and abbeting by proxy of her parents? We all know this isn't out of reach.
u/daveneal is the contact info legit? I know I'd love to see the Tedx video removed.

2023.11.08 05:05 Itsbritbitxh My idea of a redesigned stardoll (CONCEPT)

Hi! I’ve just created a “redesign” of stardoll myself on Canva!, I inspired myself on the 2010s stardoll’s style.. you can see that the dedicated banner for the profile is floating and just shows your money, name and profile picture, then on the left corner it’s the “tray” that contains your notifications, broadcast, online friends and more.. on the right corner we can see a dedicated emergent tab for “messages” you can access to your messages (like Reddit itself or Facebook). You can also appreciate that the name of the user is shown with a cursive font, my idea is that superstar and royalty can personalize the font that is used to show your name (other users can see your personalized font too).
On the second image we can see that if you click on your “online friends” icon you can access to a list (like when you want to share something on instagram and a list of your most frequent chats shows) of your friends that currently are online, or your most frequent friends that are available right now. (You could change that in settings)
Disclaimer: I used assets and stuff of Canva and pages like png tree and stardoll assets itself to create my little “concept”, credits to everyone!!.

2023.11.02 16:09 itsbenactually Antisemitism in unexpected places

My kids are Jewish. I am not, but their mother (my ex-wife) is and by Jewish law that’s what matters. So I’ve done my best to help my kids experience this part of themselves. Sometimes that means using a tool like Google Translate to help with their Hebrew homework. Last night, while using the app on my phone, I took a picture of my son’s workbook page.
The translation came back layered on top of the Hebrew writing. Most of it failed to translate which is already unusual, but dead center on the image were two sentences: “You will be crushed” and “you will die.”
I’m horrified. I barely turned the phone away before my oldest son (7) saw. I later asked his mother to translate the sentence closest to it and she said it says “how do you draw a circle in cursive” or something to that effect.
Now how this happened seems straight forward to me: someone who had access to the server end of the equation probably changed the programming to pop up this message if given the opportunity during a Hebrew transfer. (EDIT: I mean an Google employee already familiar with the code base and has the means to commit changes to the code.)
I alerted the Facebook page for parents with a screenshot. I spoke directly with the principal about it. The principal was able to reproduce the issue from her own phone. Between the principal and the JCC leadership they work with, they’ve decided to start the ball rolling on contacting the FBI. (EDIT: The ADL is also involved now.)
Maybe this seems small and maybe it doesn’t seem FBI level, but I trust these people to do what’s best.
My question for you fine folks is “what do I do now?” How do I combat these feelings of anger and horror that people are like this to total strangers? There’s always cops (several cars every day) outside the JCC and school now and that’s scary too. This particular kind of fear is new to me. Surely some of you have felt this way. What did you do?

2023.06.05 10:33 Dangerous_Source_927 Imu Medjed

Imu Medjed
This is not a well-thought-out theory.

I saw a post on Facebook about Medjed, an ancient Egyptian Deity.

I was just intrigued. We know how Oda gets a lot of inspiration from different cultures and mythologies, so why don't we explore more of ancient Egyptian mythology...

Medjed is a minor god/deity mentioned in certain copies of the Book of the Dead. He is from the House of Osiris, the God of the Deceased/God of Death in Ancient Egypt.

https://preview.redd.it/8kyp85v5r54b1.png?width=440&format=png&auto=webp&s=02e6625d000a6f5a0e0bf92fe317e9e46701813d
Medjed is depicted as a being with a body of cloth, human feet, and two eyes. He is believed to have an ability that allows him to blast immensely strong rays of light from his eyes which can harm even the strongest/highest gods.

Medjed is known as the Smiter. Due to this, he is believed to have great authority. Medjed is also known as the god of punishment, punishing those who do evil deeds including the gods. According to some references, others were led to believe that he is the God of Justice, delivering punishment to those who did evil things.

In the Papyrus of Ani, a manuscript in the form of a scroll with cursive hieroglyphs, there is a portion of a spell that was translated as:

I know the name of that Smiter among them, who belongs to the House of Osiris, who shoots with his eye, yet is unseen.
The sky is encircled with the fiery blast of his mouth and Hapi (God of the Nile) makes report, yet he is unseen.

A German Egyptologist proposed that Medjed could refer to a star. This is because Medjed is said to radiate light and he has a connection with the cyclical flooding of the Nile River.

Here is one of the few depictions of Medjed in the ancient scrolls:
Medjed (far-left) in Papyrus Cairo JE 95658 from the Book of the DeadBook of the Dead papyrus for Ankhefenkhonsu
Book of the DeadBook of the Dead papyrus for Ankhefenkhonsu
Ankh-ef-en-Khonsu which may be translated as "He lives for Khonsu"
Khonsu being the Moon God who was generally depicted as a youth.

In Japan, Medjed became popular for his cartoonish-ghostly looks. Japanese pop culture, especially video game characters, is said to be based on Medjed's appearance. He's pretty much a meme.

Some of Imu's characteristics may be based on Medjed.

P.S. I don't really know where I'm going with this tbh. 😂😂😂
(UPDATE) Turned out there are posts in the past very similar to this. Well, I just wanna share some of my thoughts...
Post that I saw on Facebook.

2023.05.24 20:03 Intrepid-Researcher [Thank You] u/SatanekoChan ~ super sweet mail ❤🌻

x5 cards x5 blank cards x10 letters
Thank you u/SatanekoChan for this super cute package :,) You can see it here: https://imgur.com/a/J3CxrHF
The mail came in a brown parcel, that had been taped shut with a pink and white washi tape, featuring snowmen :) On the front side, the address was framed with a green bubble border ~ it was accompanied by a giant sticker of what reminds me of those old-style observational planet illustrations, but instead of orbiting planets or star systems, the planet is surrounded by a colourful symmetrical mosaic! It's a terrible explanation, but eyyyy, I tried haha (here it is: https://imgur.com/a/tW4R4uM)
Where do I even begin?? Let's start with the written cards! The card was placed inside a tan envelope, which was sealed with two strips of thin washi tapes, which were a peach colour with pastel green dots and lines ~ the flap was also sealed with a white circle-shaped sticker with a red dot on it! The card inside was a double-sided card with a white background, and watercoloured illustrations of pink flowers, autumn-coloured leaves, blue berries and European robins! You wrote with a pink pen on the inside ~ which matches nicely with the card design :D I'll be responding to all of the card messages in my outgoing mail to you btw <3
Inside of the envelope, there was a smaller envelope ~ it's brown, and has a gold illustration of a flower and a knot on it! This too was sealed with the red dot sticker, and it's really aesthetically pleasing :D
In the envelope were 3 cards with washi tape samples, and a note! The note is a grey squared stick-it note, with a pink message from you :) The cards for the washi tapes are random, one appears to be a mindfulness card haha - there's a lot of great washi samples, amongst them being: a dark beige one with illustrations of pumpkins, a vintage one with random stamps and cursive writing, a thick tape with various overwintering birds (like bluebirds and great tits (bird names are weird, they're called kjøtt meis in norwegian, and kjøtt means meat??)), there's another thick strip of washi with illustrations of chickens, heck yes, one of various flowers, and another of older victorian objects! One of the strips features the great wave of Kanagawa, another is grey with cherry blossom branches, a red sun and a crane flying, then one is blue with blossoms on it, and at last, one seems to feature maple leaf branches and goldfish/koi - they're all really gorgeous and fun!! Thank you :D
The second card I picked up showcased an illustration by Benjamin Lacombe, and I'm assuming this card was made from an advertisement or pamphlet etc, for his exhibition "Fantasmi & Spiriti del Giappone" ~I couldn't find the name of the illustration, but I found a Facebook post by the artist, where he explained that it is for a book (Ghost stories from Japan) and illustrates the bridge between two worlds. Also, as I was looking up this dude, I realised his work was eerily similar to the stickers on the big envelope (which i mention later in this post), and thats because they are! They're from his gallery haha, and you can buy them online as well :)
The third card was related to the fourth card, and they're about Emilio Salgari, a children's and teens book author! The card feature some brilliant illustrations by the artists Giulio Boccaccio and Pier Torchio - they both appear to be watercolour paintings, one featuring the (seemingly) entire cast of the authors stories (in which you helpfully provided the names of some of the characters) as well as the author himself ~ the second card features one of the characters, who I want to assume is Il Corsaro Nero, who is vibing in his goth pirate outfit (my favourite childhood character was actually a pirate lmao - he's called Kaptein Sabeltann, which is norwegian for captain sabertooth, and I'd run around in a pirate costume every day, and my mom hated it, because I would sleep in it, and then I'd smell very bad :-) ) so ofc I immediately love him haha! The art is also gorgeous, and the characters are fun and diverse ~ I appreciate that you wanted to share these cards with me <3 and also, thanks for explaining a bit more about the characters and stories, it's very fun :D
The final card was from your mom!! It's a big botanical card, with a super sweet message from her :,) I'll be sending her some mail soon ~ I hope she's doing good!! <3
Along with those were 4 sheets of stickers :D two sheets feature some super pretty illustrations of various camping-based items! The artist of all the sticker sheets might be known by the name tenfall? They do have an etsy, although it appears empty right now. The third sticker sheet has illustrations of snow owls, a wreath, snow, feathers, a berry and a lantern! The final sheet seemed Halloween themed (but was nicknamed "thing of the night") and it had leaves, a video cassette, a moth, a black cat, a witch hat, a pumpkin and a cloud with lightning bolts :D all of these stickers are super cute and pretty, thank you!!
There was another envelope, and the flap was sealed with an oval-shaped sticker, with a gorgeous illustration of some ghost-like creatures on it! Inside the envelope were 6 printed out pictures, and a brown note ~ the note mentioned that you wanted to get them professionally printed, but I find the pictures charming how they are! I didn't include these photos in any of the pictures, because a lot are very identifiable, but you wrote a message behind each one, and it is really cool to see this part of your life :D Ps. Your dog is so cute <3
The final envelope was a big one! The front was decked out in stickers (specifically 10) which were all gorgeous illustrations of mythical creatures based on what I assume is Japanese mythology (mainly because of the traditional clothing, and because one of the illustrations sorta remind me of the kappa? And there's a lot of humanoid foxes, which reminds me of kitsune) - you also wrote that I could probably easily remove them and re-use them, so they'll definitely end up in my sketchbook haha!
The backside of the envelope was decorated with stickers of squares and circles: they're beige stickers, but they've got, what looks like, watercoloured shapes on them, like a red and green square, and a blue and yellow circle! They're quite pleasing to look at :D At the bottom of the envelope, there's a thick turquoise strip of washi, with symmetrical designs on them in white, burgundy, pink and shades of green!
Inside was a stack of papers, held together with a pink, heart-shaped, paperclip! Theres ten sheets, and most of them have different coloured backs, or floral designs, and I really adore the mismatchedness, as it also is somehow cohesive~ you used a pink and black pen to write with, and introduced me to your life! You also made some absolutely gorgeous drawings of characters you had created, and I really enjoyed hearing about the backstory and universe you created!! Thank you for sharing it with me <3 also, I appreciate the mini Italian lesson haha
Along with the wonderful presentation, you gifted me a sheet of song recommendations, and a bunch of blank cards :D The song recommendations were written with a pink pen on a grey sheet of paper ~ i love getting any kind of recommendation!! Be it songs, shows, movies, or ice cream flavours ;p I'll be sure to check it out :)
There were 5 blank cards. And all of them are gorgeous!! Two of them were owl cards :D the first one has a white border with a beige background, with a cherry blossom branch in front of a moon or sun, and an owl soaring by ~ the artist is Ohara Koson, and the illustration is named "Scops owl, cherry blossoms, and moon". The second owl card has a similar style, but with a blue background, and an owl sleeping on a branch :) the artist is Utagawa Hiroshige, and the artwork is called: Small Horned Owl on Maple Branch under Full Moon!
The third card is a "colour this in" type card, with a bunch of flamingos on them :D and the final two cards are based around Alphonse Mucha - one being a picture of him, and the other being a painting he did, called "Biscuits Lefèvre-Utile" - I really adore Mucha's works, they're just so gorgeous :O Thank you for all of these great cards!! :D
Along with all of the gorgeous cards, letters and stickers, you also included a gorgeous book!! Did you make this yourself?? The bookbinding is done by using split pins, which is really clever (I don't think I've seen that be done before? I remember wanting to make a moving paper puppet once, but I didn't own any of those pins, so I gave up lol). The main backdrop is purple, and the binding is of watercoloured hydrangeas ~ the small details, like the purple swallowtail label on the front cover, the envelope at the end for carrying random scraps and knick-knacks, and you also included a bookmark, made using the same purple cardstock and hydrangea paper :) it is so pretty, and im a little scared of using it, because I like it a lot :,)
At last, you gave me a ton of snacks <3 The first one being a bird-shaped colombina bread/cake snack with a sugar and almond crust - and like you mentioned, it is similar to the panettone :D it got a bit squished in the mail, but I think I see the bird shape haha!
You also gave me this spoon shaped lollipop infused with flower petals ~ it reminds me of the rose lollipop you gave me, and it tasted delicious (but for a while I was very confused as to whether it was edible or not haha 😅😂) but it was so cute!! And pretty!! The weirdest food item you included, imo, was the salamino al cioccolato, which is what it says on the tin - a chocolate sausage/salami roll! Just a big chunk of chocolate, which was really tasty, and it made me very satisfied when I was having a sweet tooth moment <3 I've never seen anything like it though, and I really liked how the ends were tied with this straw-based rope :)
Another interesting treat was the sottilissimo torrone ~ a crumbly nougat with pistachio and almonds, which is also a very new thing to me! I've always been a sucker for pistachio anything, so this was very intestering :D Since Easter was recently (I received your mail the 28th of April, I'm just laaateee), you included a chocolate rabbit, and you wrote my name in a pink pen on the front (since the packaging had a little "this is to..." section!) Which was very cute (and yummy~) And at last, you included a chocolate bar (cioccolato artigianale) which was a dark chocolate with hazelnut chunks! It was really good ~ some dark chocolate is really bitter, but this was the perfect kind of sweet :D
This post is a bit late, since a lot has been happening lately, but I'll write to you about it in my outgoing mail! This was such a sweet package, and I appreciate all the thought you put into it <3 it was really fun getting to know you more, and I loved the characters you created!! I loved all the cards, all the goodies and kind words, and I was also very happy to hear from your mom :) thank you once more, and hopefully you'll be hearing from me soon 💛

A lot of people wonder what people are saying and why they are putting so much energy into it - here are some cherry picked fun ones from the FB group (get a chuckle).

Norman Hansen
But it's WOKE!

Barbara A Brown
This is like they are hurrying to push this out...not giving a rats behind that the majority does not want it. Ticks me off
Sorry Barb - the saying you are the majority doesn't make you the majority.
Chuck Nelson
What a horrible choice! Somebody is making money by shoving this horrible flag down our throat. The flag we have now is so so much than ugly thing. Governor Cox must be making money off this choice. Such a horrible governor.

Franci Marie Sims That proposed woke flag can’t fly…it sucks!
Richard Lentz
I will not spend a dime or support any business that flys that piece of crap . President Trump won 📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷

April Hicks Pratt
Anyone that stands up for traditional values is being targeted

Ilene Hacker The new flag represents woke legislators.

I know I'm getting old because I remember: •When things actually meant something. •When people had pride in who they are. •When people took care of public spaces because it was the right thing to do. •I remember when people were polite to each other. Even when no one was watching. • I remember when teachers taught students things like math, reading, geography, social studies, history, cursive. •We knew our pronouns. •"They" was a plural word. •We could diagram sentences. •We were taught how to spell. • We took pride in our country, our flag, our soldiers. • We obeyed the law. We knew what punishment was and lived in fear of it. •We believed in God and heaven and hell. •We were taught that there was a prize (recognition) for hard work. •We were taught to give it your all. •We were taught that there are winners even when you weren't one of them. Yep I'm an old geezer that's for sure. But I still know which bathroom to use. (Yes, I Marlene wrote this:) (Can be shared from my profile)

Linda Thatcher Manley Dilworth
These politicians are ruining Utah! It makes me sad to see all the apartments being thrown up everywhere and the so called new flag flying over certain businesses! Our school , roads, water and infrastructure can't handle all this building. Neither can the people on fixed income, like me, paying extremely high taxes.
Linda, listen Linda... what?
Daniel Moir
Silent and exhausted majority. These “leaders” are exhausting. Honestly I don’t think it’s wrong of us to express how tiresome all the drama that THEY create really is. I hope they will all be voted out. We just want a return to quiet times, of government we can trust. Why in the heck is that so hard for these fringe lunatic “leaders” to get?
ViAnn LangI wonder how far society will let this go before someone says enough. Maybe once we get to the Nazi symbol people will wake up and notice?
Zach Dunn, ViAnn Lang all they’re doing with this new flag it so they can do their agenda on things
Natalie Clawson ViAnn Lang put 4 transgender flags together and see what you get. We are already there.

Lil Ackley
Disrespect beyond measure; this is the very reason our state flag changed. Now that the gays etc has claimed it, let them have it and leave ours alone!! This was the agenda from the beginning and I'm having nothing to do with it!! Thank you Mr McCay and Mr. Schultz for NOTHING!! I refuse to address them by their political positions because they do not represent me!!

Jessica Guerrero
This flag includes pedophile colors wtf!!!!!.. look up the map flag
There is a lot more homophobia and subtle bigotry in the group that I've seen. It's amazing how they keep losing and think they are the "silent majority."
Just thought you'd all see what is very widely accepted as their views.

2023.04.16 10:59 bonnieprincebunny I Lost My Arm For My Dog

A year and a half ago, I got hit by a train. I remember nothing, and only know what I've gathered from police reports, medical records, and what my mommy has told me. Yes, I call her Mommy; I had (have?) brain damage, and when I became cognizant after a month in the hospital, that's just what I called her. I don't know why. Anyways, the last few years of my life have been nothing but tragedy after tragedy. There's a much longer, convoluted, and genuinely upsetting story surrounding the events of the year, month, week, and, eventually, day of the train crash, but long story extra short is I was saving my dog.
I ended up with a collapsed lung, several deep lacerations all over my body, and 15-ish broken bones. My AC joint separated, and the ligaments in one of my knees were totally blown out. I had a massive open cavern over my shattered sacrum from where I was nearly impaled. You could've put a mason jar in there. There's so much nerve damage, I can't feel half of my ass, and it was half a year before I stopped shitting myself. One year before I stopped pissing my pants, although I sometimes will wet the bed. I got such a conk on the head that I'm statistically significantly dumber than I used to be, and cursed with knowing it. I walk funny, and I stutter now. My forearm snapped in half, and was held together by a thin strip of skin. The bottom half was... degloved. There wasn't really any hand left to save. It was my dominant hand.
I got pulled out from under the train, and airlifted to the nearest level 1 trauma hospital. I lost all memory from back through two months before the accident. I received so much anaesthesia from so many back to back operations, I didn't start making new memories until a month later. Besides all of the horrifying parts, there's a couple of funny stories about that, and about my whole hospital experience actually. At least I think they are, but I've always been a bit of a sicko. I relearned I did not have a hand anymore repeatedly throughout the day everyday for weeks. It took a long time for me to remember being told why I was there. At one point, I was given multiple choices as to why I was in the hospital including "hit by a train". I said to the best of my knowledge, none of those; I was attacked by a bear. I read in a cop report that I was in a truck stuck on the tracks in the snow. The engineer said that he witnessed the driver and I jump out of the truck, but then I got back in. I had to get my dog.
I got my own room, because several patients complained about my constant screaming. I have over 4,000 pages of medical records, and page after page after page say, "patient was verbally abusive to staff all shift." Sorry about that. I guess between screaming and abusing nurses, I just cried for my mommy. Mommy flew a thousand miles to be with me after receiving the worst phone call of her life, and I asked her where's my doggy? She went online searching for news reports about the crash trying to find any information about what happened, and there weren't any. Not a single one. So she found a community Facebook page for the county the crash happened in and posted asking if anybody knew anything about it at all. There were several replies including from one guy who heard there was a dog running around. Mommy said she believed that it might have been mine, and the admin of the fb page basically started a small campaign to find him. She did. Mommy was able to get him a couple weeks later. I think that's called serendipity, but I'm not sure, because I kind of lost a lot of my vocabulary. But wouldn't that be so lame if after all that, I didn't even have my dog anymore? Mommy said he was perfectly unharmed, but that one of his legs was just encrusted with dried blood. She guesses that the blood was mine, and that he stayed with me until people showed up. I like to believe that, too.
But, so, like, technically I survived, but to be honest, my life ended that day. I'm basically a silver alert, my body works fairly, but doesn't feel like something I recognize, and I no longer have the most perfect cursive anyone ever read. Sometimes I feel so, so guilty for wondering if my doggy was worth it. I don't want to resent him, but sometimes I really do wonder, and it makes me feel sick. I fucking love my dog so much, and I don't think I could live with myself if I had just let him die. I let him live, and I died instead.

2023.01.13 13:38 epeolatry13 34 F Philippines - To write again

It's been three years since I sent out and received the last batch of mails to/from my penpals before the lockdown in 2020. My pens are drying, too. It's been three years since I haven't written a long letter and I terribly miss writing and sharing a lot of things through letters.
For over five years, I used to exchange letters and postcards with friends from the UK, Austria, Germany, CA, USA, Greece, Finland, and in other European countries. I would like to continue writing them considering they have been my constant penpals for years but I am not sure if they have the same address today. A couple of them move places for work and some for personal reasons. We didn't share emails either and the website where we used to exchange details has deleted my previous messages and I couldn't find their profiles. (I hope they're doing well in life. And I wish there was a way to contact them again.)
Before new year's eve, I found the letters and postcards I received. It fired me up to pursue my plan to start writing again this year aside from just working from home.
Here are a few things about ME:
- born and raised here in the Philippines
- single, never married, no kids, straight
- working online full-time as a virtual assistant
- I enjoy food and eating. I cook but.. needs improvement 😄
- loves to travel (only been to SEA countries, for now) and would love to meet my penpals in the future, if time permits
- not sporty, but I enjoy watching basketball and a few games even if I'm unfamiliar with the rules. So I'm more of a cheerer 🙆‍♀️
- likes post stamps but I don't collect. I love the story behind the stamps in every letter I receive.
- loves nature walks and trips
- plays Soduko / Solitaire on my phone
- last film watched: Canton Godfather (lol i like watching non-English films)
- currently reading 'Flowers for Algernon'
- current jam (link on my profile)

Penpals:
- male (pls don't be a creep) or female
- single or married (my prev penpals were married women, men in relationships, engaged, and divorced)
- any country
As I've only been to a few places outside the Philippines, it excites me to receive and read letters from people detailing how their life goes and about the place where they live. But please be someone who speaks/writes in English. Doesn't have to be grammatically correct always. English is my second language, too. So don't be shy.
- snail mail is better as I like to continue writing and make use of my pens
- cursive handwriting or not is welcome. I'm patient when reading handwritten letters.
- you can rant. You can vent. Just write anything you'd like to share.
- postcard exchange is fine (we could start with that)
While email pal is fine too, this ends instantly tho. In my experience, my email pals contacted me often for tips and advice for their travel plans in the country. We eventually became Facebook friends for an instant exchange of messages and to check on them while they were here. But that was it. Ended too soon.
Just to be clear, I am not looking for a relationship. My purpose for writing and exchanging letters is to find friends whom I could keep around for life despite the distance. But who knows? It might blossom into a relationship from friendship.
Also, let's keep it SFW, please. And I want to keep it minimal in terms of numbers, too. I've learned my lesson the years back. Having nearly a dozen of people to write back to is exhausting.
Quality > Quantity
If I'm missing any details, just let me know. DM is open.

2022.12.28 12:53 Information-Gurus What were the design trends of 2022?

There are still a tonne of fresh concepts and growing trends in website design as we approach the last month of 2022. The fascinating innovation that has taken place over the past year is intended to support website designers and developers as they push the boundaries of interaction and engagement. No exception applies to these patterns.
Here are some of the current design trends.
1. Inspiration from video games
Website design is frequently seen in that area where reality and virtual reality converge. A pseudo-video game aesthetic that looks interactive, somewhat genuine, and highly imaginative is in right now.
These websites might have a range of themes and designs, but they all have a few essential components:
– Several animations
– Real or imagined interactive elements
– “Unreal components,” like the bat-skull in Mythical Games, move quickly and immerse the viewer in the action.
– Using dark colours
– Frequently lack conventional navigation or prompts to action, making the entire screen the “game”
– You can navigate interactions with the help of leading text or design components.
– With their design aesthetics influenced by video games, each of these instances follows a comparable but distinct strategy.
Adidas uses a three-dimensional flying group of individuals to pique your curiosity in employment opportunities at their animation studio. Although the point of view makes you feel like you’re a part of the action, conventional design elements like navigation make it easier for you to know what to do next.
Mutant Stand has a retro video game aesthetic and transitions between a home screen with navigational features and a more immersive in-game environment. Even before you dive into the design, the motion generates an engaging feeling.
Since Mythical Games is a real gaming website, video game inspiration is to be expected. Interestingly, this website adopts the most understated strategy, despite the fact that fantasy-inspired design elements are prominent.
2. Complicated typography
It might be challenging to explain certain trends in website design. With this one, designers are experimenting with extremely challenging typography designs. The reading of the content in these projects is a challenge.
Although subjective, difficult typography is accentuated in designs with a lot of text. When these fonts are smaller and potentially cause even more readability problems, the reading dilemma extends to mobile design.
There are many other types of typefaces and typeface combinations that can make text difficult to read. The following are some of the most typical for website design:
– Narrow or compact typefaces
– Uncommon character or strokes
– The thick serifs of today
– Old-world fashions
– Scripts and cursive writing
But everything depends to some extent on who is looking at it. These examples all have some reading difficulties, yet the designs are nonetheless appealing on the surface. It’s up to you whether you decide to use these fonts, but you should consider your website statistics and audience to make sure it works for you.
This is where you’ll likely notice this trend most frequently outside of website design. Keep an eye out for the fonts used in World Cup coverage. All on-screen text elements are set up with challenging typeface pairings.
Kakeru Yagou employs an intriguing, slightly skewed modern serif. The typography works quite well as a logotype. The issue arises when there is a lot of reading to do.
A condensed typeface in an all-caps design is used in Abymes Numerique. If used alone, either of these choices might cause less of a reading issue than if used together.
On its website, Think Dance uses a very unique but challenging typeface for its two keywords. By using only two words and matching them with simple options everywhere else, they accomplish a fantastic job. You can debate the efficiency of the font selection despite the fact that it still takes a moment to consider and understand the text.
3. Avatars
Avatars are currently having a major moment in website design in addition to being already widely used on social networking sites like Facebook and Snapchat. The main distinction is that internet avatars can incorporate full-body designs and animated effects rather than just cartoon heads.
Avatars can appear and feel quite uniquely personal, like when they are used on portfolio websites or are more focused on a particular character. When you don’t have the perfect photographs for the project or want more whimsy in the design, both are terrific ways to use faces and add a little bit of a personal touch.
For her portfolio website, Simona Nikolova utilises an enlarged avatar. She uses it in conjunction with her name to establish a connection with users, and the design demonstrates her ingenuity. In a portfolio, using an avatar is an excellent method to “present yourself” without raising any privacy issues.
Byte Trading uses avatars that are “Lego-style” to pique your curiosity and push you to “enter” the website. In order to get you ready to join the website for the cryptocurrency marketplace, each avatar moves and changes its attire. A popular choice for cryptocurrency and NFT websites is avatars.
On its website, Pomelo Paradigm uses three-dimensional avatars to create sceneries. The interactions that users should have with the design are explained by these fictional characters. You almost don’t notice that these aren’t real images because they have such a really natural appearance.

Some tips to make your capital J in cursive look more unique

  • People may notice that the letter J and uppercase I are nearly identical (98.9% similar). The "slight" difference between these two words may still be recognized, though, if we pay close attention.
  • The uppercase J bends more deeply than the uppercase I in movement from step 4 to step 5. but the cursive I's bottom is shallower.
  • Be careful when making the line bend upwards, avoid the ring being too narrow or too wide. Make enough slant for the body of the letter to have just enough opening for the curl.
  • Avoid making the teardrop form too large, only open in the range equal to or below the 3rd line.

How do I effectively create a cursive capital F?

Step 1: A soup ladle - first line of capital F in cursive

From a set point 1/3 of the distance between lines 2 and 3, bend up to form an arc.

Step 2: Cursive capital F familiar to an I in capital?

Let's bend down just a little bit. If you still remember how to write a lowercase f, you should have no trouble writing the F in capital. Because the letter's first stroke resembles a fish hook, just like the letter capital I.

Step 3: A hook in capital F

Beginning in the center of the area between lines 2 and 3,⅓ the line from step 1, start creating your first line with the pen.
Drag down to the left on a diagonal and bend it up into a hook shape.

Step 4: The capital F's highlight.

And finally, put a tilde in the middle of the third of the hook.

How to maintain the perfect curve of the cursive F in capital?

  • When writing, you should vary the amount of pressure you use with your hand and wrist to prevent producing shaky or rough handwriting.
  • Don't write the top stroke too high or too low because it could be mistaken for a capital T if you do. Make sure there is sufficient space between the tilde and the top stroke.
  • Keep a close eye to the hook's angle to prevent making a capital T.

How to complete a proper lowercase cursive f?

Step 1: “A stick” in cursive f

Put the pen in the middle of the space between lines 2 and 3, and then drag a diagonal downward and to the left.
Or we may refer to it as the process of creating the stick of a cursive f.

Step 2: Candy cane is coming up!

Lower the line and hook it back up.

Step 3: Is it a “b” or “f” in cursive now?

You must have typed a lowercase b before realizing that removing the circlet from the cursive f accidentally produces a “b” in cursive.
Set a stop at a third of the initial diagonal as you extend the bend hook line inward.

Step 4: A twist hugging our f in lowercase

Make a twist via the final stop so that the final intersection with the bend is the bend in step 3.

Step 5: Final touch in f lowercase

From the separation of the first and second lines, continue that diagonal to the right and come to a stop at the halfway point.

Tips for your lowercase f in cursive looks

  • Pay attention to the intensity of the strokes. For example, "the stick" of the cursive f requires boldness and careful management of power when moving the pen.
  • The circles should be painted with thinner strokes. You must loosen your hand for this motion and gently move the pen.
  • If the bottom ring is too broad, the letter f will appear to be a b. So be mindful of the bend's roundness, it shouldn't be too wide or too narrow.

How to create the most perfect capital I in cursive

Now the cursive capital I is no longer small and tiny like the cursive i in lowercase, it is growing taller and higher like our children’s growth. The letter I in cursive, which is already challenging, has more consecutive curves and various large and small sizes. Therefore, it is necessary to have the focus as well as the help of parents so that children can write the most complete letters. Within some easy steps down here, it shouldn’t take too long for you to master this cursive I in capital.

Step 1 of writing the capital I

The pen should be put close to the second line. Then use the same pen point to draw a curved line along the line, circle the curve upward, and stop at a horizontal point with the first place you put your first line.

Step 2 of writing the capital I

Following the last stroke we need to extend it diagonally to the right and halt it not far from the third line. Pay attention to the slant of this second stroke. Avoid using horizontal or straight lines when drawing.

Step 3 of writing the capital I

Hook the loop diagonally downward while extending the second line. A stop is located just past the point where the two lines cross.

Step 4 of writing the capital I

Drag it past the first line and down a long enough line. This fourth stroke requires a specific leftward lean and curvature.

Step 5 of writing the capital I

Curve the hook up a detour from the last stop so that the letter's end is on the right side.
