More insight in Lightoller's mistakes and the launching on port side
According to this table, Lightoller was responsible for 'only' 3 boats on his own, and the other boats were launched together with higher-ranking officers, with Smith and Wilde also present at boat 8. (both higher in rank)
As we know from the Titanic film, the boat deck was not very large, probably only about 30 meters apart. At most. There were (as I understand it) actually 2 large launch points on the port side with 12 davits on both sides of the ship. As I understand it, 6 boats could then actually be launched at the same time. But this does not seem to correspond with the launch times because it seems like all the boats were lowered from a maximum of 2 launch points?
What exactly went wrong here? Did Lightoller and Wilde misinterpret the order together? If Captain Smith was also nearby, did Smith himself not simply give the wrong command? It's hard for me to understand why Lightoller (lower in rank than Wilde) could then pull so much power towards himself if Smith and Wilde were nearby.

2024.05.29 07:35 squizzlebizzle Where Buddhism meets Psychology

I have been reading about something called complex trauma, or complex ptsd. There has been a lot of good material about this out there nowadays, in the past I think this topic was not so well understood.
After learning about this, I realised how starkly ignorant I was of it before. For example, imagine being on fire but not having a concept of fire.
Trauma is something that, it seems, affects everybody or almost everybody. It does not only take war to cause trauma.
In my own life, I was totally shattered by the effects of trauma without really realising what that means. I wasn’t taught about this, I had no concept of it. I just knew the pain it entailed.
One day I became aware of mindfulness, thank you dr. hoffman. I learned about the basics of breath meditation.
I watched Sam Harris talk about how we have no self.
Then I got into Thai Forest Buddhism, then into Tibetan Buddhism.
Over the course I started having some spiritual experiences. Some of them related to seeing negative spirits. But I also had other long term issues in my life, related to illness, pain, conflict, and etc. I dove into spiritual practice as a tool for dealing with these protracted issues.
Eventually it worked but then it revealed a level that I had to learn about trauma. It wasn’t enough to learn about Buddhist texts or practices only. Sometimes Buddhists will talk about trauma but not only.
A lot of Vajrayana books have a warning in the intro that, a guru is not their job to fix your mental health problems, or your parental issues, etc. That you should see a therapist for this. And sometimes it is an issue at Buddhist centers being flooded by people in need of mental health assistance but this is not the niche of a temple environment.
In my own case, I have something called insecure attachment style. This is something I’ve been learning about only recently. I think it is really indispensable for my Buddhist practice but i’m not sure this is necessarily spelled out in Buddhism the way it is spelled out in psychology.
An insecure attachment style means not having a healthy emotional bond with your caretakers as a child. That was me. I didn’t have any healthy bonds with anyone as a child. Not any person. Also I was molested. My mother’s family has a history of pedophilia.
My mother might be armchair diagnosed as narcissistic, or borderline, or histrionic, or… psychopathic... But almost definitely also with complex trauma of her own. Especially given her own parents predelictions.
Tim Fletcher talks about how 97% of people with addictive tendencies have complex trauma. I think it was also him who said that if complex trauma were given its due (something like 70%) of the dsm would be removed.
In my own life, i’m a relatively functioning person. I am a teacher. I am a parent. I’m a loving husband. But in some way, inside I am totally and irreparably broken in a way that is unbearably excruciating. What is broken? Where is this pain coming from?
I ran into some issues before that seemed straight up karmic and I could straight up deal with them with Buddhist methods like karmic purification. I used to constantly hurt my back, i had repeat herniated discs, and I’d get poisoned a lot , i’d meet a lot of enemies, have insecure conditions. This is a karmic issue, and when i started doing dharma practice with the protections of lineage these symptoms eased up, the evil spirits went away, the back injury healed, i dont get poisoned or sick as much.
But then under this I discovered this emotional trauma related to childhood. Teal Swan talks about spiritual bypassing with regards to trama. I think I wanted to do this previously, before I discovered what is trauma. That if I could do the mantra enough times, then, I wouldn’t have to face the pain or do the work psychologically to reconnect with the shattered parts of myself.
But I didn’t know it’s possible to do it. Buddhism, especially vajrayana methods, gave me the tools to access the broken and fearful parts of my psyche. And then an understanding of trama and the relevant psychology helped me to hone my tools to deal with it more effectively.
There is something called Internal Families Systems, or “parts.” the parts of the psyche are not like one person. They are like many people, and that have different roles. Your psyche also has in it versions of your self as a child, as etc. etc. It’s all in your psyche.
At some points this becomes magical and like a shamanic journeying. You are enting the void to retrieve the broken parts of yourself and you must over come the fear of deaht to do it. Like physical therapy it is fucking painful.
In the “parts” system, there is a role called “protector.” In Tibetan Buddhism there is also something called a “protector,” or dharmapala.
Some Buddhist practices don’t consider deities to be external to us but parts of our own psyche. This is an exact fit with the relevant psychology. As I understand, Jung had some things to say about this but I never studied Jung.
Something i’m working with nowadays also is to recognise triggers. I think that this word was poisoned by memes. Triggered has come to mean “asshole.” I am a high school teacher and for so many years, “I am triggered” was the punchline for every joke. They were making fun of the people who had misused the word.
But this word needs to be dusted off, this is a real thing. I thought before that I had ptsd but i didn’t really contemplate what that meant. If you have ptsd, triggers are going to fuck you up. Learning to manage them is part of shamanic journeying. Sometimes, even now, when I hear a door opening or closing my stomach wrenches and my cortisol spikes and my heart races. I have to try to explain to my wife, what is this , why is it happening, how can she help. And it's hard to do because if something is your trigger, trying to talk about it can cause you to dissociate. But not recognising your triggers can cause you to dissociate too. And you are living like a zombie emotionally.
I didn't even understand that I was dissociating as a tactic to deal with unmanageable pain.
In my opinion the part that Buddhist practices brings to thet able that mere psychology does not is protection from karmic problems that you can’t solve with ordinary means. For example - let’s say that you’ve got some especially sticky negative karma caused by something very bad you did, and every time you try to approach healing your trauma, something gets in the way. Let’s say there are some demons feeding on your suffering and every time you approach improvement, they throw obstacles at you or press your pain so you don’t have the strength to do it.
It’s a lot more difficult to beat those types of demons without lineage protection. If you’ve figured out how to get to a level of Buddhist practice where you’ve actually got real lineage protection, you aren’t concerned about any of this kind of obstacle. Demons can’t hurt you. Negative spirits aren’t a real threat anymore. So then you can face the real darkness in your heart and you know you’re safe. It can’t really destroy you. Because the really truly fearsome things in the world, they can’t hurt you because you are under that lineage umbrella.
One of the fun things about the story of Guru Rinpoche is that he’s quite badass. This is very appealing for people who have encountered strong evils in the world. When Guru Rinpoche went about the world, terrible demons confronted him everywhere and he kicked their fucking ass every time. Knowing that he is willing and able to beat the shit out of demons is definitely relevant to spiritual practice where confronting your karmic chains is actually and in fact going to cause demonics spirits who don’t want you getting free to come around and start fucking with you. And if you’ve been fucked with by spirits, sometimes magicians and these people can talk about this, but having looked at all that I think it’s better not to play harry potter to deal with harmful spirits and instead to rely on the protection of Buddhist lineage.
Arya Tara is sometimes called “the one who protects from fears” and I once heard this explained that in Tibetan, “fears” means both the emotion of fear and the thing that you are afraid of, the dangerous thing.
Mantras have magical powers and this is an easy way to connect to lineage. In some cases I had to use buddhist mantras do deal with the physical consequences of trauma. For example perpetual fear, that kind of wrenches the heart and causes pain in the chest. Chanting the Vajra Guru Mantra I found actually dissipates this fear. And if you have these symptoms of trauma you are sick, all the time, so if there is some kind of relief to the pain you will take it.
That is enough for now
Om ah hung benza guru pema siddhi hung
Om tare tuttare ture soha

2024.05.29 07:32 ProgramZestyclose306 Dallas Mavericks: A Comprehensive Look at the NBA Franchise

The Dallas Mavericks, commonly known as the Mavs, are a professional basketball team based in Dallas, Texas. Since their inception in 1980, the Mavericks have grown into one of the most successful and popular teams in the NBA. This blog will explore the team's history, key players, notable achievements, and current status, offering a thorough overview of what makes the Mavericks a standout franchise in the world of basketball.

A Brief History of the Dallas Mavericks

Early Years and Formation

The Dallas Mavericks were founded in 1980 by Don Carter and Norm Sonju. The team was named after the popular TV Western series "Maverick" and quickly became a beloved addition to the Dallas sports scene. The Mavs struggled in their early years but gradually built a competitive team.

Rise to Prominence in the 1980s

By the mid-1980s, the Mavericks had become a playoff contender. Led by players like Mark Aguirre, Rolando Blackman, and Derek Harper, the team reached the Western Conference Finals in 1988. This period marked the Mavs' first taste of significant success.

The 1990s: A Decade of Struggles

The 1990s were challenging for the Mavericks, marked by frequent coaching changes and roster instability. The team failed to make the playoffs for most of the decade, culminating in a series of losing seasons. However, the groundwork for future success was being laid during these tough years.

The Dirk Nowitzki Era

Arrival of a Franchise Icon

In 1998, the Mavericks drafted Dirk Nowitzki, a German forward who would become the face of the franchise. Nowitzki's arrival marked the beginning of a new era for the team. His unique blend of size, shooting ability, and versatility revolutionized the power forward position.

Building a Championship Contender

Under the ownership of Mark Cuban, who purchased the team in 2000, the Mavericks became a perennial playoff contender. Cuban's investment in the team and commitment to excellence transformed the franchise. The Mavs, led by Nowitzki, Steve Nash, and Michael Finley, consistently made deep playoff runs in the early 2000s.

The 2011 NBA Championship

The pinnacle of the Mavericks' success came in 2011 when they won their first NBA Championship. The team, coached by Rick Carlisle and featuring key players like Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, and Tyson Chandler, defeated the Miami Heat in a memorable Finals series. Nowitzki's performance earned him Finals MVP honors, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Key Players in Mavericks History

Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki is undoubtedly the most iconic player in Mavericks history. His 21-season career with the Mavs saw him become the team's all-time leading scorer and a global ambassador for the game. Nowitzki's loyalty, skill, and leadership have left an indelible mark on the franchise.

Steve Nash

Before becoming a two-time MVP with the Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash played a crucial role in the Mavericks' success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His partnership with Nowitzki was instrumental in turning the Mavs into contenders.

Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd had two stints with the Mavericks, with his second stint culminating in the 2011 championship. Known for his exceptional playmaking and leadership, Kidd's contributions were vital to the Mavs' title run.

Luka Dončić

The current face of the franchise, Luka Dončić, has quickly become one of the NBA's brightest stars. Drafted in 2018, Dončić's remarkable skills and basketball IQ have drawn comparisons to legends like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. He represents the future of the Mavericks and their hopes for another championship.

Notable Achievements and Records

Team Records

The Mavericks have set several team records, including most wins in a regular season (67) during the 2006-2007 campaign. They have also had numerous playoff appearances and several deep postseason runs.

Individual Records

Dirk Nowitzki holds numerous individual records for the Mavericks, including most points, rebounds, and games played. His 30,000-point milestone is a testament to his scoring prowess and longevity.

Community and Cultural Impact

The Mavericks have a significant impact on the Dallas community, both through their on-court success and off-court charitable efforts. The team is known for its engagement in community service and support of various local causes.

The Mavericks Today

Current Roster and Management

Under the leadership of head coach Jason Kidd and general manager Nico Harrison, the Mavericks are focused on building a competitive team around Luka Dončić. The current roster blends young talent with experienced players, aiming to return to championship contention.

Recent Performance and Future Prospects

In recent seasons, the Mavericks have been a playoff team but are striving to take the next step toward another championship. With Luka Dončić continuing to develop and the team's management making strategic moves, the future looks promising for the Mavs.

Conclusion

The Dallas Mavericks have a rich history filled with memorable moments, iconic players, and a passionate fan base. From their early struggles to their championship triumph and the current era led by Luka Dončić, the Mavericks continue to be a prominent and beloved franchise in the NBA. As they look to the future, the Mavs aim to build on their legacy and bring more glory to Dallas.

2024.05.29 07:30 DirectionFew292 Reasons Why Inadu is The Strongest Witch

I’d say dahlia served more, devastated the originals easily, but is still not on inadu’s level and I only say that because even if dahlia is linked to an original, she can still be given vampire blood and turned and she would lose her magic… Inadu would not lose her magic as she used magic as a vampire in the show

2024.05.29 07:30 Curious_Proposal1553 Writing a self insert WITHOUT making them a Mary Sue

A few contingencies I put in place are:
  1. Not letting one character hog the spotlight/screentime
  2. Having the characters argue and disagree (and allowing the reader to be able to sympathize with both parties)
  3. Each character has their own strengths a weaknesses (the self insert will not have all the power nor be the most important in every scene)
  4. Other characters possesse their own strengths (and weaknesses) that others do not (something that makes them truly unique)
If anyone else is writing a self insert and or has other points they would like to add, let me know.
Thanks,

2024.05.29 07:28 LadyNiko More Tales from SCO

So, my store has a BIG, RED SIGN at the entrance to our SCO registers saying, "10 items or less." We even have signs on EVERY REGISTER saying the same thing.
"It's now 10 items or less? When did that happen? I didn't see the sign!"
"February 1st, sir."
"Why isn't there a sign saying anything?"
"Ma'am, you walked right by the BIG, RED SIGN!" And, I pointed to the sign on the register.
"Why isn't there anything saying that?"
Me: facepalm
Half our registers are card only, and you have to acknowledge that when you start your sale. "This machine does not accept cash. Do you wish to continue?"
Older gent today, "I wanted to get cash back..."
"Sir, this register doesn't have cash. It's a card only machine."
Kid: "The register charged me $47.73 for two sodas and a bag of chips!"
Me: looks at the control screen, sees the "Remove bills from the bill dispenser." "You got $40 cash back. It's sitting in the dispenser for you to take."
Kid, "Oh!" I don't know if he was just clueless or trying to pull a fast one.
Lottery sales: "Can I use a debit card here?" "No sir, cash only." He repeated his question again and got the same answer. "Where's an ATM?" "Right behind you over your right shoulder."
9:50 pm: "I need someone to put this case of water in my car for me."
"Ma'am, I am by myself. I can't leave Uscan. My last checker and bagger both left at 9."
(My overnight manager ended up helping her.)
AT 9:55 PM, lady wants me to do a price match for her. I tell her I will do it, so she starts her order at the SCO register for her other stuff, when I was wanting to do it all at my power register. Then, she wanted to pay with cash and I asked her to hit the red x in the upper right corner of the keypad twice for me, since the credit card machine is on the other side of the partition from me and our registers won't let us cancel the transaction from the register, we have to cancel it from the card reader. She farts around and I end up doing it for her, because it's closing time and I want to go home.
Our SCO registers have a new bug that they will randomly log out completely and close. This error forces us to log back in at the control desk, hit the mgr key to allow sales and reopen the register. We're then supposed to suspend the sales and finish ringing them up at the desk. This is annoying AF. It happened Monday night to one of the company VPs.
"IT is aware of the issue, but hasn't come back with a fix yet. It's company wide."
"Well, I'll have to talk to them, tomorrow."
Please do! This shit is stupid! Maybe he can light a fire under them to fix the error.

When I received the Hornady Fireproof Keypad Safe, I was eager to test its robustness and functionality. As a product reviewer, I had the opportunity to use it in my daily life, and I must say, I was impressed by its features.
Firstly, the 16 gauge steel body construction and 8 gauge steel door of the safe had a lasting impression on me. The durable black powder coat finish added a sleek touch to its overall appearance. The electronic lock with a key backup provided an extra layer of security that I appreciated, especially when using it to store important documents and valuable items.
One of the standout features of this safe was the interior light, which automatically illuminates when opening the safe. It was a thoughtful design choice that allowed me to conveniently access my items without fumbling around in the dark.
The fireproof rating of 30 minutes in up to 1400 degrees F was an impressive feature, but I also noticed that it was not water-resistant, which could be a potential downside for those living in areas with high humidity.
The removable interior shelf offered flexible and secure storage options for a variety of items, from firearms and documents to jewelry and hobby equipment. I particularly enjoyed the protective carpet interior, as it safeguarded my valuables from potential damage.
One downside that I encountered was the low battery warning, which I found a bit annoying at times. It would be great if the alarm system could last a bit longer on a single set of batteries.
Overall, the Hornady Fireproof Keypad Safe was a reliable and durable choice for storing valuable items. With its heavy-duty construction and convenient features, it made a secure addition to my daily life.

Imagine you're a serious gun owner who values both your firearms and the safety of your family. You've searched tirelessly for a reliable storage solution, but most are either too complicated or too expensive. That's where the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe comes in - a practical, stylish, and affordable option.
Opening the safe, you're greeted by a spacious interior, with ample room for your rifles and pistols on the adjustable shelves. You appreciate the versatility, allowing you to customize the storage according to your needs. However, you also notice that shorter firearms fit perfectly, but longer ones might not find enough space unless you remove the pistol shelf.
Securing the safe is a breeze. The dual-lock system, which includes both a fingerprint and digital keypad, provides both convenience and security. It makes you feel confident that your family and valuable firearms are well-protected.
Making the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe even more appealing is its solid construction. The exterior has a sleek black finish that adds a touch of sophistication to your home. The wall thickness is sturdy at 0.04 inches. However, you notice that the metal used in the construction does not have a specific classification, which may leave some wondering about its durability.
In conclusion, the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe is a worthy investment for those seeking an affordable, practical, and reliable firearm storage solution. Though it might not be perfect for everyone, its strengths outweigh the minor drawbacks, making it a satisfying addition to your home security.

As a reviewer who has been using the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe in my daily life, I can confidently say that this is a great investment for anyone looking to keep their firearms and valuables secure. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the sleek, powder-coated gun metal gray finish, which added a stylish touch to the safe while also enhancing its durability.
One of the standout features of this gun safe was its electronic lock with an override key. Having both an electronic keypad and a backup key gives me peace of mind knowing that I won't be locked out in case of a power failure or if the electronic lock fails. The solid steel locking bolts provided robust security, ensuring that my firearms are kept safe and secure at all times.
The interior of the safe was spacious enough to accommodate up to 26 long guns, making it an ideal choice for gun enthusiasts and collectors alike. Additionally, the adjustable shelves allowed me to customize the layout according to my needs, providing ample storage for other valuables as well.
However, there were some cons worth mentioning. The door of the safe had a bit of play in it when closed and locked, which could be improved upon in future models. Furthermore, the instruction manual could have been more comprehensive, especially when it came to resetting the combo on the electronic lock.
Overall, I would recommend the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe to anyone looking for a reliable, well-made safe with ample storage and good security features. It may not be perfect, but at this price point, it's hard to beat.

It's sturdy and well-built, with a sleek gunmetal exterior that exudes a sense of durability and reliability. But it's the interior that truly sets it apart.
One of the first things that caught my attention was the impressive 2-stage dual fire seal, which includes a silicone seal on the door jamb and an expandable Palusol seal on the door. This ensures that your firearms and other valuable items remain protected from harsh conditions and high temperatures.
I also appreciated the U. L. Residential Security Container and California DOJ approval, which is a testament to its high standards of security. The 1/4" steel plate on the door and the 11-gauge solid steel plate on the body offer a solid, impenetrable barrier against intruders.
The AMSEC NF6030E5 Gun Safe is equipped with a reliable electronic lock, which not only adds a layer of security, but also comes with two relocking devices for extra peace of mind. The mechanical dial lock and the doomsday redundant lock are available as additional security measures as well.
The interior of the safe is just as impressive as its exterior. The all-velour, all-in-one interior with back-cover and firewalls, along with the 2 cover plates and 4 side shelves, provides ample room for storage and organization. The premium door organizer (PDO) is a fantastic added touch, making it easier to store and access your most commonly used items.
Overall, the AMSEC NF6030E5 Gun Safe is a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and secure storage solution for their firearms and other valuables. It's well-designed, offering excellent security features and a smooth, user-friendly experience. It really is a standout product in its category.

As a sports enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for reliable equipment and accessories, so when I came across the Haven SA5942HX Gun Safe from Sports Afield, it caught my attention. The first thing that struck me was its impressive size – it can store up to 48 long guns and 8 handguns, making it perfect for gun owners like me who need secure storage space for their firearms.
One of the standout features of this gun safe is its pry-resistant recessed doors with 1.5" steel bolts, ensuring that the contents are well-protected against unauthorized access. It's also California CDOJ Approved and has a 75-minute fire rating, providing peace of mind in case of emergencies.
Customization-wise, the Haven SA5942HX doesn't disappoint either. It comes with a deluxe door organization kit that allows for better organization, and adjustable shelving to accommodate various firearm sizes. Additionally, it features UL Rated dual outlets and 2 USB ports, offering convenience when it comes to charging or using the built-in LED motion lights – features I found very useful.
In terms of construction, the 14-gauge steel body feels solid and well-built. The safe has a weight of 722 pounds, ensuring it's not easy to move without proper tools. The interior is surprisingly sleek, thanks to the 4 bar LED lights.
While I appreciate the overall quality and functionality of the safe, some minor setbacks include the need to remove a sticker on the keypad for better visibility, and a less-than-perfect shipping experience. Nevertheless, I believe that the Sports Afield Haven SA5942HX Gun Safe is worth considering for its custom features and high-quality construction.

🔗Protective 42-Gun Safe with Combination Lock and Digital Keypad

The Mesa MBF7236C Gun & Rifle Safe has been my reliable partner in keeping my valuable gun collection and prized possessions secure. This safe has surpassed my expectations in terms of functionality and build quality.
One of the standout features of this safe is its electronic lock with a digital keypad. It's user-friendly and secure, allowing me to easily access my safe without any fuss. The three-user electronic lock system ensures that only authorized individuals can gain access to it.
In terms of build quality, the safe's construction is impressive, boasting an all-steel exterior. It's quite spacious, with a capacity of 42 rifles, and the interior is well designed, providing ample space for storing guns, documents, and other valuables. The safe's structure is solid and sturdy, offering robust protection against burglary and fires.
While I love the safe's build quality and functionalities, there have been a few minor drawbacks. The combination lock sometimes feels a bit flimsy, and the power cord can protrude quite a bit, making it a bit of an inconvenience. However, these issues are relatively minor and do not detract from the safe's overall performance.
In conclusion, the Mesa MBF7236C Gun & Rifle Safe has proven to be a reliable and practical solution for storing my precious firearms and valuables. Despite a few minor inconsistencies, the safe has surpassed my expectations and provided me with the peace of mind I was looking for. I've had the Tracker Safe Model TS30 for a while now and it's been a game-changer for securing my valuables. The fire-resistant feature was a big selling point for me, especially with living in an area prone to wildfires. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the safe held up to a simulated fire test- it truly earns its protective label!
One of the standout features is the UL listed group 2 combination/dial lock. It's a sturdy and reliable locking mechanism that gave me peace of mind knowing my items are secure. The exterior of the safe is attack resistant and built with 12-Gauge steel to make sure no one will be able to breach it easily.
However, the safe does have a considerable size and weight to it, so it's crucial to have a proper space allocated for it. I'd also like to point out that the delivery company was less than helpful, but Wayfair made things right by offering a small credit. Overall, the Tracker Safe Model TS30 is a reliable and secure choice for storing your essentials.

🔗SureLock Lieutenant 30: Premium 60-Minute Fire Rated 30-Gun Safe with Adjustable Interior and Convenient Storage Options

https://preview.redd.it/arwniszwwa3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90c02b607fdbef7006f6ba164959230f62c2e347
The Surelock Lieutenant 30 has been a reliable addition to my home, providing a sense of safety and security to my collection of valuables and firearms. The first feature that caught my attention was its 60-minute fire rating (at 1400°F), ensuring that my possessions would be protected even in extreme situations.
The SecuRam electronic lock proved to be both robust and user-friendly, making access to my belongings a hassle-free task. Additionally, the 3-shelf adjustable interior and 2-gun racks allowed for ample storage space while also giving me the flexibility to remove or reposition racks as per my requirements.
Despite its robustness, the powder-coated, matte black exterior and matching gray interior exuded a sense of refinement and elegance, blending seamlessly with my décor. The organizational door panel was a thoughtful touch, offering an additional storage space for smaller items.

🔗Browning 45-Minute Fireproof Gun Safe for 30 Long Guns and 9 Handguns

https://preview.redd.it/0l1jbxaxwa3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ec0990a9e54a45ef289a0eedb704c76b2b43769
The Browning BX30 Gun Safe was a staple in my daily life for a few weeks now. Its 35-inch width was a game-changer as it allowed me to easily store 30 long guns, something other 30-gun safes couldn't offer. I am fascinated by the electronic lock that lets you create a personalized entry code, making it more secure and user-friendly.
One feature that stood out is the raised floor, which provided extra space for some of my smaller items. However, one thing I found less impressive was the fire protection, which lasted only 45 minutes at 1,200°F.
On the downside, while the 14-ga steel exterior provided a nice grey hammer-textured finish, it didn't do much for the security aspect when compared to higher gauge safes. Furthermore, although the exterior was big enough for my needs, the interior could have been roomier to hold more of my handguns.
So, overall, the Browning BX30 Gun Safe was a reliable and secure option, especially at its affordable price point. However, I wanted a bit more room and potentially sturdier construction for added security.

🔗High-Capacity 90-Minute Fire Rated Gun Safe

I've been using the AMSEC NF6032 90 Minute Fire Rated Gun Safe for a few weeks now, and it's been a game-changer for my gun storage needs. The sleek granite exterior with a charcoal finish adds a touch of style to my collection, while the PDO configuration allows me to store a mix of long guns and shelves for easy access.
One feature that really stands out is the 3-layer fire insulating material on the 1/4" steel plate door, providing an extra layer of protection for my firearms. However, one downside I've noticed is that the safe is made in China; while it still comes with an American Lifetime Warranty, it would have been great to see more of the manufacturing process happening in the United States.
The safe also includes a AMSEC exclusive no hassle quick release band, which makes it easy to open and close the safe without any hassle. Inside, the interior is spacious enough to accommodate a mix of guns and accessories, but the placement of the handles could have been on the outside for easier access. Overall, I'm very happy with this gun safe and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish way to store their firearms.

The exterior dimensions of the safe are quite impressive, measuring 18.5 inches deep, 55 inches tall, and 27 inches wide. It's perfect for accommodating a variety of long guns and ammunition.
One of the key highlights of this safe is its fireproof capabilities; it's tested to withstand up to 45 minutes of fire at 1,400°F. This peace of mind is invaluable when it comes to safeguarding my family's irreplaceable firearms. Overall, the Sports Afield 30-Gun Fireproof Electronic Lock Gun Safe, Black, has been a reliable and effective tool in safeguarding my firearms and valuables, and it's a product I would recommend to anyone seeking a sturdy and secure storage solution.

🔗Secure, Spacious Fireproof Gun Safe with Electronic Lock

The Remington Big Green 84-Gun Fireproof and Waterproof Gun Safe is quite the sight to behold. As an avid hunter, I've always valued the space for my guns, and this safe more than delivers. The 12-gauge steel body and the fourteen 1.5" locking bolts are like a warm hug for my arsenal, leaving me feeling secure with my collection.
The interior of the safe is a treasure trove in its own right. The bright LED lighting illuminates my prized possessions, while the full interior carpeting adds a touch of luxury. The UL Rated dual power outlet with 2 USB ports comes in handy for recharging my electronics, even when the lights go out.
However, the height-adjustable and removable barrel rests were a bit of a disappointment. They didn't quite fit the way I had hoped. Overall, the Remington Big Green is a sizable and stylish safef, but it's not without its minor quirks.

I recently added the Kodiak KB5933ECX gun safe to my home, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for protecting my weapons and valuables. The full 40 minutes of protection at 1400°F ensure that my belongings stay safe in case of a fire emergency. I also appreciate the fireboard protection in the ceiling, walls, floor, and door, as well as the heat-activated door seal that expands up to seven times its size to keep out heat and smoke.
One of my favorite features is the thick 2.00mm steel composite door and body, which makes the safe incredibly sturdy. The single hardened steel plate protecting the lock from drill attacks gives me peace of mind, and the spring-loaded re-locker keeps the safe secure even if the lock is tampered with or removed. The large door bolts ensure a snug fit, and the UL-listed commercial-grade electronic lock adds an extra level of security.
While I love the features and overall quality of the Kodiak KB5933ECX gun safe, one minor drawback I've noticed is that the center dividers don’t go all the way to the top of the safe. However, this hasn't been a major issue for me, and the convenience of the plug-and-play outlets and multiple configuration options make up for it. Overall, this gun safe has been a solid addition to my home security and I highly recommend it for anyone in the market for a secure storage solution.

As I unboxed this Mesa Safe MGL14E, I couldn't help but feel excited to see how my new gun safe would protect my precious firearms. The sleek design immediately caught my attention, and I knew it was the perfect fit for my home. I was eager to see how the electronic lock would work and how secure it would be in keeping my firearms safe from intruders.
The first thing I noticed was the sheer sturdiness of the safe. Its all-steel construction was impressive, and I could tell that it would be difficult for anyone to break in. The interior was spacious enough to hold my rifles, handguns, and ammunition, and the removable felt-covered racks made organizing my firearms a breeze.
One of my favorite features of the Mesa Safe MGL14E was its fire resistance. I felt much more secure knowing that my firearms would be protected in the event of a fire. 2024.05.29 07:27 Ninjalicious7023 Theory: Jason Voorhees is a Cambion, and his real father is an Incubus

After listening to the Pamela Tapes in Friday the 13th: The Game, Pamela states to police that Elias Voorhees was not Jason’s real father after all. Instead, she was forced upon by an unknown man. A man that was only described as strong and with “hatred in his eyes”. Pamela becomes pregnant from this event, eventually giving birth to a child with severe facial (and presumably mental) deformities. Since then, she became paranoid and fearful of this man, afraid that he might come back to take Jason away from her, which is why she marries Elias in the first place so he can protect them from him.
Even though she doesn’t state how old he was in the tapes, Pamela said that Jason told her to kill Elias because he was a threat to the both of them. In the comic miniseries Friday the 13th: Pamela’s Tale, it shows that she killed Elias while she was still pregnant with Jason, claiming that she heard his voice telling him to do it. Whether or not she actually heard him say that or she’s just completely insane is totally ambiguous, and it’s also unclear as to whether or not the Pamela Tapes and the comic miniseries are even connected. But let’s assume that they are, and they are also both canon to the overall Friday the 13th mythos.
As a person who studied European/Celtic folklore, I couldn’t help but notice some striking parallels between Jason and a mythical creature known as a cambion.
For those who may not be familiar with Celtic mythology, a cambion is an offspring between a human woman and an incubus. Cambion’s are often born disfigured and grotesque looking, and grow up to become outcasts by society. However, they are also born with supernatural powers and abilities, such as the ability to shape-shift, to predict the future, and interestingly, immortality and the ability to speak fluently as a newborn. Some legends also state that they can speak to their mothers from the womb.
There are also some legends that incubi return for their cambion offspring when they become of a certain age, usually to teach them new things. I thought this was super interesting since again, according to the Pamela Tapes, Pamela was afraid that this mysterious man, who is Jason’s real father, would try and come back to take him away. What’s even more peculiar is that it’s never outright stated that Pamela ever witnessed her son’s drowning, but is assumed to have been what happened. Who’s to say that this mysterious man didn’t abduct Jason, whether he saved him from drowning or just simply took him without anyone noticing?
After noticing all these parallels, I also couldn’t help but notice some loose similarities between Jason and another legendary cambion that many of you might have heard about before: Merlin.
Yes, THAT Merlin. The wizard from Arthurian legend. Now if this sounds like a stretch, hear me out.
Merlin from early Welsh folklore is MUCH more different from modern tellings of the character. In early legends, Merlin wasn’t even connected to King Arthur at all, and was described as a disfigured child born from a human mother and an incubus father. As a newborn, Merlin saves his mother’s life from different threats by communicating with her fluently and using his other supernatural powers. At some point during his adulthood, he becomes traumatized by war and other dark events in his life, which causes him to go mad and become a “wild man of the woods”. Sound familiar?
Another cambion Jason shares many similarities with is the monster known as Grendel from the epic poem Beowulf. Some of you might already recognize that as the name of the space ship from Jason X, which is what the name is derived from. In Beowulf, Grendel is tormented by the sounds of joy and singing coming from the mead hall of Heorot, which compels him to attack it and it’s inhabitants every night for 12 years. This draws the attention of the poem’s hero, Beowulf, who goes to destroy Grendel by waiting for him at the mead hall and mortally wounding him. A dying Grendel retreats to his cave, where his mother awaits, and his mother subsequently swears her revenge on Beowulf.
Many people online have pointed out the similarities between Beowulf and the original Friday the 13th film, even if the similarities are all purely coincidental and not at all the creator’s intention. Still, I can’t help but be somewhat amazed by it.
It’s kinda given me a new head-canon for the franchise, as it gives a cool and spooky mythological origin to Jason for me. With him being an unholy offspring between a human and incubus, giving him a ghastly appearance and certain supernatural powers, and also giving him a plausible explanation of what happened to him after he drowned/disappeared by having him be taken and raised by his demon father to become some sort of monster. I don’t know, I feel like something cool could come from this and I’d like to flesh out this idea in a story or fan-film someday.
What do you guys think?

2024.05.29 07:24 aFilminFrench Someone once asked me for a quote about Abraham Hicks talking about meditating vs. visualizing. I just transcribed this one!

"Hot seat guy: So, I was wondering, in some of your earlier recordings, you talk about going to the workshop, going about my day, seeing things I want, making notes of those things I want, and then bringing it back to my workshop and then manifesting that in my workshop everyday.
Abraham: Visualization.
Hot seat guy: But then, you the meditation piece, which is, like, 'Spend 15 minutes meditating, breathing, three breaths, five breaths, out.' You know, you're always like 'You don't need to do too much of it! Too much of it is not a good thing!' So, what should I be doing? Should I be doing the workshop or should I be doing the meditations?
Abraham: Well, what you described here were step three, first, and step one. In other words, the meditation is putting yourself in the place of allowing what you've asked for to be realized by you. Because, if you're not offering contradictory thought, your vibration will raise and then, you will realize. Then, thoughts will come and impulses will come. The visualization is really helpful when you are in alignment with your desire. So, it's a really good question! And we're going to explain it to you here so you'll know exactly what to do. Let's begin here. Every subject is really two subjects, wanted and absence of what is wanted and YOU are in the vicinity of one or the other, usually. When you want something and you are in vibrational alignment with what you want, then the more detail you give to it, the more you think about it, the more good-feeling thoughts you have about it, then the more you practice the vibration that allows it to flow into your experience. It's what expectancy is! Expectation is a powerful state of being! Because, it means that what you want and what you believe are in the same place. Let's clarify. Positive expectation is that. You could negatively expect something, too, which what you don't want and what you believe. So, expectation is really a sort of defining of what your point of attraction is in any moment in time. So, let's say that you want something and you've wanted it for awhile and you're not seeing the evidence of it coming about and you're becoming discouraged, because you're noticing the absence of it more than you're noticing the presence of it. Well, under those conditions, we would not encourage you to go to a workshop and try to imagine it. Because, you've already got contradictory energy going on! So, any thought you think about it is going to add to the 'It isn't working!' more than it's going to add to the 'It is working!' So, if you want something that you doubt, meditation is a better tool for you. Because, in the absence of thought, your vibration will raise. But, let's say you want something, you've been wanting it for awhile, and you've been tuned in, you're feeling good, and, an idea occurs to you. When that idea occurs to you, we would milk it for all it's worth! In other words, when you get that Idea and you say 'I've got a great idea!' We would sit! We would sketch it! We would draw it! We would think about it! We would even talk about it with others! We would get the energy of that moving! So, what we're really talking about is momentum. You've got to know in which direction the momentum is going. If the momentum is going toward what you want, then be more descriptive. If the momentum is going away from what you want, then shut it down! Take a nap! Go to sleep! Meditate! Clear?
Hot seat guy: Clear."

2024.05.29 07:23 UnkleGuido What got YOU into (Chaos) Magick?

For me, personally:
Funnily enough, I've AllWays been drawn to "Magic," including Learning Stage Magic/Legerdemain when I was very young, & also drawn to Wizards - not Clerics! - in the 1983 D&D Red Box.
As I Learned Self-Hypnosis & NLP in High School, I XPerienced "Things that Should Not Be" & wanted to find out the extent of the Powers of the UnConscious, which led me to MagicK.
Re: Chaos Magick, I was at a point in my Magickal Career where I'd left a Fraternal Organization that I won't name, & funnily enough, I was going to dive into either Enochian Magick, or Chaos Magick, which, in retrospect, seems like they couldn't be more opposite of each other LOL
Mostly though, I'm so glad I went for the Meta-Magickal outlook that Chaos Magick engendered in its Time, breaking out of Ritual & High Magickal Procedures that I think most all adopted UNTIL Chaos Magick came out.
What got YOU Hooked into Magick/Chaos Magick?

2024.05.29 07:22 BeakDreams I used my make-a-wish to meet Brian Jacques

Once, a long time ago, roughly 2002 or so, I went and had cancer. I was 11, and the tumor was a rare guy that sprouted from the back of my neck and out of my right nostril, leaving me a medical anomaly with a lot of time on their hands. And so, during the chemo and radiation and surgeries, I escaped, and found solace in the Redwall series. I devoured every book. I was in love. And so, one day, a nice elderly couple came to visit me, stating that they were from the local make a wish branch. They said I had one wish, anything I wanted within reason. Most kids wished to go to Disneyland. One kid I knew wished for all of the current gen consoles (so ps2, GameCube, and Xbox lol) and a stack of games. Other kids had house renovations, or what have you. Some wished to meet a celebrity, like Jim Carrey, but typically others would too, so everyone would have to share a conference room while he gave each table 10 minutes of his time. Suffice to say, I did not know what to choose. Over the course of 2 weeks, I thought and I read, and at one point my mom sat me down and said, “Kid, do something cool, something neat, something no one else would do. Do something different.”
And so, when the elderly couple came back, they asked me what my wish was. I help up a copy of Salamandastron, pointed to Brian’s name at the top, and said “I want to meet this guy.”
Lo and behold, a year later I had my wish granted, and I was flown down to LA (I live in Canada) to catch him along a book tour stop. I spent a couple of days there, and on day 3, I was brought to the Four Seasons for breakfast. It was a glittering palace of marble and golden decadence. I was seated to a large oak table in a private room, and in he came, along with his wife, Liz. She talked to my sister and mother so that I could have Brian’s attention to myself, and he came and sat next to me, and handed me a backpack full of merch. We then got to talking. I had ordered a stack of blueberry pancakes, but I did not touch a single one, so elated was I. We talked about Greek mythology, and geography, and religion. He regaled me with tall tales and the complaints of an old man’s ailing body. He was kind, and warm, and seemingly quite happy to entertain the wish of a cancer kid. He gave me one of the best days of my life. After breakfast he brought us in his limo to the UCLA, where he was due to be on a panel. He had to take time for a book signing first though, but he marched me to the front with him and autographed my stack of paperbacks. I felt like royalty. Finally, we sat in the audience of an auditorium, and he spoke on a panel of writers. It was soon his turn to take to the podium, and he thundered down as the powerful orator that he was, giving creative inspiration and telling us all to make sure we never squander our gifts. Near the end he stopped to say, “I write about warriors in my books, and like to think that I know what being one entails. And I’d like to say, this boy, right here, he is a true warrior.” A spotlight was suddenly cast down upon me, and I was bid to stand up as I received a round of applause. I can only say that it felt like he knighted me that day, as if he was a king pointing on my shoulders with a pen, rather than a sword. He stands as a revered figure in my life, as his words have given me strength, and after his death I had “bellator verus,” or true warrior, tattooed onto me as a daily reminder of his legacy.
I grew up to try to get my English degree, but had that cut short with cancer 2. I realized I wanted a family instead, so I found my wife, and we have a young son together. I am writing my novel. One day, when kiddo is old enough, I will read him Redwall, and he will learn about being a warrior.

🔗TruGlo Crossbow Scope with Unisex Camo Design

I've recently had the chance to try out the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope, a nifty piece of equipment for enthusiastic crossbow users like me. The scope's main highlight was its ability to find the range and calculate the correct trajectory for my crossbow bolts. In my experience, this feature proved to be quite handy in my local archery range, particularly for those days when the wind and temperature were unstable.
One of the things that stood out to me was the scope's robustness. It was designed to handle the harsh conditions of the outdoors, as evidenced by the sturdy aluminum body and the shock-resistant construction. This scope also offered a generous 4-inch eye relief, a feature that helped protect my eyes during those blustery hunting sessions.
The scope's lenses were fully-coated, making them highly resistant to glare, a common concern for crossbow users shooting in low-light conditions. Additionally, the durable leavespring for windage and elevation adjustments were a welcomed bonus, allowing me to finetune my shots with ease.
On the downside, one of the screws on the scope rings was stripped, a minor issue that wasn't a deal-breaker. I also discovered that the scope wasn't rated specifically for a particular crossbow speed. To achieve optimal accuracy, I had to adjust the scope manually, which was a bit tricky and time-consuming.
Regardless of these minor downsides, the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope proved to be an essential piece of equipment in my hunting arsenal. Its ease of use, durable construction, and helpful features make it an excellent choice for anyone seeking to upgrade their crossbow hunting experience.

🔗Killer Instinct Lumix Speedring Crossbow Scope: Improved Targeting for Hunting

https://preview.redd.it/0n4smv75va3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=beeef9bca6af8069bd07d148d78210f3743580c0
Using the Killer Instinct MSCKI-1020 Lumix Speedring 1.5 to 5 x 32 IR-E Crossbow Scope has been quite an experience. The scope has made hunting much more enjoyable for me, thanks to its amazing abilities to lock onto and track moving targets from vast distances.
One of the features that really stood out is the durability of the metal case. This thing has a real tank-like feel to it, resisting impacts and harsh weather as if it was made for it. The spring-loaded covers on the lenses also proved to be quite reliable, keeping the lenses safe and scratchless until I was ready to hunt.
The built-in Speed Ring is another aspect of the scope that has impressed me. Making adjustments for my crossbow's speed has been a breeze, and the illuminated reticle is a big help when it comes to sighting in low-light conditions. I particularly appreciate the contrast the red/blue illumination provides.
However, there was one downside that I found a little disturbing. The scope came in a condition that made it apparent that someone had used it before. I was not happy with this fact, especially considering I had paid for a brand new product.
Overall, the MSCKI-1020 Lumix Speedring 1.5 to 5 x 32 IR-E Crossbow Scope is a product that I would recommend, even with its minor fault. It certainly helped me become a better hunter, and it would do the same for anyone looking to enhance their hunting experience.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. This black 1021 model was a great addition to my hunting gear, providing exceptional clarity thanks to its multicoated optics and 1-inch mono tube construction. The fast focus eyepiece is a game-changer, allowing me to quickly adjust my sight even when on the move.
One feature that stood out was the illuminated cross-hair reticle, which came in both blue and red. It was perfect for low-light situations, making it easier for me to spot my target. I appreciated the adjustment click value of 0.5 inches at 100 yards, as it gave me accurate and consistent shot adjustments.
However, there were a few downsides to this otherwise great scope. The exit pupil was smaller than I would have liked, making it a bit more challenging to see the cross-hair reticle at times. Additionally, the scope's weight was lighter than expected, which might not have been ideal for everyone.
Overall, I'm happy with my experience using the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. It's a quality product with some small drawbacks, but its pros certainly outweigh the cons. If you're in the market for a reliable crossbow scope, this one is definitely worth considering.

🔗Compact Variable Multi-Reticle Crossbow Scope for 300-410 fps Shooting

https://preview.redd.it/hza39b06va3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0335c578ba2185d68eb01015efbaa266bd1dd0c0
As a reviewer who's been using the Dead-Zone Scope from Excalibur, I can confidently say it's a game-changer for crossbow enthusiasts. This 32mm, 1" tube scope offers unparalleled light transmission and clarity that makes it an ideal choice for those who prefer the thrill of hunting. Its variable multi-reticle design suits crossbows shooting in the 300-410 fps range, providing a perfect fit even for experienced hunters.
One of my favorite features is the bold crosshairs, which make it easy to sight in, even for us who don't have the sharpest eyesight. The scope provides a crystal-clear view, which has been essential in my hunting endeavors, hitting the bullseye consistently at 60 yards. Installation was a breeze, and the ease of adjusting the focus makes it a standout product.
However, one thing that could be improved is the set screw. After a little mishap with the speed ring, it's proven to be a bit tricky to tighten back up. Apart from that, I wholeheartedly recommend this Dead-Zone Scope to anyone looking for an accurate and reliable companion on their hunting adventures.

🔗Powerful Dual-Speed Digiscoping Scope with Extra Low Dispersion Lens

https://preview.redd.it/1jm12ld6va3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97ff0b840b4fb3f03c5aaeaae405f10c2af3e157
Recently, I had the chance to get my hands on the Knight PT 72mm f/6.0 Ed-Apo Photography Scope from Snypex. This digiscoping scope was a game changer for my photography, allowing me to capture stunning images with my DSLR camera.
One of the standout features of this scope was the dual speed focuser. It made it incredibly easy to achieve precise focus, even in low-light conditions. The scope's focal length of 432mm and f-stop of f6.0 provided a beautiful and sharp image, which was especially noticeable when using the optional eyepiece.
Moreover, the scope was built to last, with a durable white paint coating on its aluminum housing. The 1/4"-20 tripod mounts at both ends of the shoe made it easy to balance the weight, and the integrated dovetail plate was a handy addition for quick-release heads.
However, I did encounter a minor issue when trying to attain focus on stars. Despite the scope's apochromatic doublet lens, I found that achieving proper focus was a bit challenging. Additionally, while the price was reasonable at $160, I noticed that it was listed for a much higher price on the product website.
Overall, the Knight PT 72mm f/6.0 Ed-Apo Photography Scope from Snypex is a powerful and versatile tool for photography enthusiasts. With a few minor adjustments, it could become an exceptional choice for both digiscoping and spotting scopes.

In the world of optics, the Athlon Optics Ares G2 UHD 20-60x85 Straight Spotting Scope has made a name for itself. It's not just for the birders spotting variances in plumage from far away or for the precision shooters who aim for targets at 1,000 yards, the scope's extra-low dispersion glass provides vivid clarity and resolution in a full-size spotting scope.
Athlon has cleverly designed it to be lightweight although strong, making it comfortable to carry and use for long periods. The aluminum alloy chassis adds to its strength without making it too heavy. With its twist-up eye-cup, it allows you to set the eyecup to the perfect eye relief for your eyes, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience.
Its ESP Dielectric Coating gives you an advantage in viewing with an image that has little or no chromatic fringe for the clearest and sharpest image. The UHD Glass in the lens helps in converging refracting colors into one focus point, producing greater contrast, sharpness, and color definition.
Reflecting over 99% of the light to your eyes, the scope brings you a clear, bright image and accurate color reproduction, thanks to the BaK4 Prisms coupled with advanced fully multi-coated lenses. It produces perfect brightness and color across the entire light spectrum, making viewing under different lighting conditions a breeze.
And when it comes to durability, the scope doesn't disappoint. It comes with an extra protective layer coating that keeps the exterior of the lens free from dirt and scratches. It's also Argon Purged and Waterproof, ensuring weatherproof performance even in harsh conditions. Purging allows for better waterproofing/fogging, making sure your scope doesn't fog up when you switch environments.
Overall, it's a joy to use this spotting scope. It's not just about viewing in high detail but also the ease it offers in using it. You won't be disappointed with its performance and features.

As a nature enthusiast, I recently had the chance to try out the Athlon Optics Cronus G2 20-60x86mm UHD Spotting Scope and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Boasting an Apochromatic Lens System and ED glass, I was able to achieve great color definition, clarity, and light transmission even in the trickiest of lighting conditions.
Even in the most challenging settings, such as dimly lit forests or shadowed treelines, the Cronus G2's enhanced contrast allowed me to easily separate my subject from its surroundings. Its versatile magnification ranges from 20x to 60x, offering unparalleled flexibility when scouting for game.
However, I did notice that the scope might be a bit bulky for some beginners, as it weighs around 40 oz. However, its overall performance and the smoothness of its single focus wheel make up for that setback.
In conclusion, the Athlon Optics Cronus G2 20-60x86mm UHD Spotting Scope is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for premium optics at an affordable price. I highly recommend it for hunters, birdwatchers, and nature lovers who desire exceptional clarity and image quality.

There's something about using the "Diamondback HD 20-60x85 Spotting Scope" that makes you feel like you're really a part of the action. On my last hunting trip, I couldn't have been more thankful for its portability - it only weighs a pound, so I could pack it with ease. The rubberized outer shell kept everything safe during hikes, and the Armortek lens coating kept the lens clear of dirt and oil.
In the low-light setting, the scope was nothing short of magical. I can't tell you how many times I was able to spot a deer or rabbit way off in the distance, even with the sun barely rising. However, in my experience, the scope seemed to struggle a bit with higher magnifications - sometimes the focus was a bit off, and the object appeared a bit soft.
Still, the "Diamondback HD 20-60x85 Spotting Scope" has become my go-to for all hunting trips and outdoor adventures. Its sleek design and reliable performance make it worth the investment for any serious spotting enthusiast.

In the vast wilderness of western ranges, discerning the precise movements of wildlife demands crystal clear optics. The redesigned Diamondback HD spotting scope meets those demands with unrivaled clarity even in low light conditions, making it the go-to for long-distance hunters.
Designed for those who traverse the rugged terrain of the west, this spotting scope combines advanced technology with durability. The 45° angled viewing allows for effortless observation of the surrounding landscape, while the 16-48x zoom eyepiece provides flexibility for different situations. The large 65mm objective lens captures vast amounts of light for excellent vision in dim conditions.
In our hands-on experience, the scope's high-density, extra low-dispersion glass produced stunning views, with exceptional sharpness and detail. The anti-reflection and ArmorTek lens coatings further enhance the image quality, while the argon-filled body ensures water and fogproof performance.
A minor hiccup came with the rotating tripod collar and 1/4"-20 mount, as it required some finesse to set up properly. However, the neoprene cover tethered objective lens and ocular lens cap, along with the included lens cloth, added a touch of convenience.
Overall, the Diamondback HD spotting scope proves itself to be a reliable and user-friendly option, perfect for those seeking crystal clear vision in the wide open spaces. Its reasonable price point and fantastic features make it a standout performer in the long-range optics market.

I recently got my hands on the Vortex Diamondback 20-60x80 spotting scope, and I must say, it has been a game-changer for my outdoor hobbies. The 20-60x zoom eyepiece is a fantastic feature that provides incredible clarity and detail, especially in low light conditions. One of the things that stood out to me was the single wide focus knob, which is incredibly smooth and easy to adjust. It truly feels like a premium scope, yet it doesn't break the bank.
The Diamondback 20-60x80's exterior lenses are protected by the scratch-resistant ArmorTek coating. This has been invaluable when I've taken the scope on various outings where it might be exposed to dirt or other elements. The fact that the scopes are waterproof and nitrogen-purged is a great bonus as well.
One of the best features of this spotting scope is the fully rotatable mounting bracket. It's incredibly convenient, allowing me to get the perfect position regardless of where I'm set up. The spotting scope is more versatile than I had imagined, and it has proven to be quite a valuable addition to my outdoor gear.
While the product does have a few drawbacks, such as slightly coarser focus control at higher magnifications, overall I am beyond thrilled with my purchase. The Vortex Diamondback 20-60x80 spotting scope has provided me with an exceptional experience, and I couldn't recommend it enough for anyone looking for a great spotting scope at a budget-friendly price.

The Barska AD11344 Gladiator Spotting Scope has been a game-changer in my outdoor adventures. The 30-90x magnification and 100mm objective lens provided a stunning, high-definition view of distant objects. The integrated tripod mount made it convenient to set up and use, while the sun shade helped reduce glare in bright conditions.
One of the main features that stood out to me was the optical system, which allowed for crisp, clear images in various lighting situations. The multi-coated lenses not only maximized light transmission but also ensured vibrant colors and contrast in my observations. Additionally, the waterproof and fogproof sealing kept my scope protected during occasional rain showers and foggy mornings.
However, there were a few drawbacks that I encountered. The weight of the scope felt a bit heavy, making it challenging to carry it for extended periods. While the included tripod worked reasonably well, I found that it wasn't sturdy enough to support the scope's weight at full magnification. As a result, I had to invest in a more robust tripod, which added to the overall cost.
In conclusion, despite the minor shortcomings, the Barska AD11344 Gladiator Spotting Scope has become an essential tool for my outdoor activities. Its powerful magnification, sharp image quality, and protective features make it a top choice for nature enthusiasts and outdoor sports enthusiasts alike.

When I first laid eyes on the Barska 6x30 Spyscope, I was immediately drawn to its classic and refined appearance. The brass and mahogany combination, along with the elegant pedestal, made it feel like a treasure I wanted to show off in my home.
As I adjusted the scope for the ultimate viewing experience, I was pleasantly surprised by the sharp and clear image it provided. The 6x magnification truly made a difference, allowing me to see even the smallest details. The 30mm objective lens was also a game-changer, illuminating the scene with brightness and clarity that was unexpected.
However, I did encounter a minor inconvenience: the weight of the scope made it challenging to maneuver occasionally. This may be a concern for those who plan on using it frequently or have limited counter space.
Overall, the Barska 6x30 Spyscope provided an excellent viewing experience in a classy and elegant package. Despite its heaviness, it's definitely a worthwhile investment for those who appreciate both functionality and aesthetics.

🔗Premium Quality 1X6 Scope for Optimal Optical Performance

The Feather Vision Original Claro scope has been a game-changer for me during my outdoor adventures. With so many compatible scopes, it's got a universal fit that's convenient to use. The AR coating really stands out, as it significantly reduces glare, and I appreciate how lightweight this scope is.
It feels so comfortable on my rifle, and the clarity of the image it provides is just exceptional. However, as much as I love the 1X6 scope, the weight reduction might compromise its durability in the long run. Nonetheless, this scope deserves every bit of its top-notch rating.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to hunting or shooting, accurate aim is essential. 30-06 scopes are designed to provide precise shots at long distances, making them ideal for activities such as big game hunting or target shooting competitions. In this buyer's guide, we'll discuss the important features and considerations when purchasing a 30-06 scope.

Magnification

https://preview.redd.it/7m4c780cva3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=083713805ff1b3cb4d54d2fbc546ccafe7abeba2
One of the main features to consider when buying a 30-06 scope is the level of magnification it offers. Scopes come in various magnification levels, ranging from 3x to 20x or more. The choice depends on the intended use. For hunting large game at long distances, a higher magnification scope would be best, while a lower magnification scope may be more suitable for target shooting.

Objective Lens Size

The size of the objective lens affects the scope's light gathering ability. Bigger objective lenses collect more light, which can improve image quality, especially in low light conditions. However, larger objective lenses also add more weight to the scope. Consider the balance between light gathering ability and weight when choosing a 30-06 scope.

Reticle

The reticle is the crosshair or other markings within the scope's lens. Reticles come in various styles, including simple crosshairs, mil-dot, and ballistic. The choice depends on personal preference and the intended use. For hunting, a mil-dot or ballistic reticle might be more useful for calculating distance and bullet drop, while a simple crosshair may be sufficient for target shooting.

https://preview.redd.it/f8tnehbcva3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8893a7ecc9c60030ac73f4202a954a6a74f7135

Durability and Weather Resistance

Since 30-06 scopes are often used in outdoor environments, durability and weather resistance are important factors to consider. Look for a scope with a waterproof, fog-proof, and shock-resistant design. These features ensure the scope can handle various weather conditions and accidental impacts without affecting performance.

Mounting and Adjustment

Mounting the scope securely on your firearm is crucial for accuracy. There are different mounting options available, including ring mount, picatinny rail, and cantilever mount. The choice depends on the firearm's design and the scope's weight. Additionally, the scope should have adjustable turrets for easy sight-in and fine tuning.

Other Features to Consider

https://preview.redd.it/dcwndgocva3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=feb2f15dd1bb837a8c5054555616f453ecb949a2
Other features to consider include eye relief, which is the distance from the ocular lens to your eye; parallax adjustment, which helps eliminate parallax error; and the scope's overall build quality and warranty.
When choosing a 30-06 scope, consider the magnification level, objective lens size, reticle style, durability, mounting, and other features such as eye relief and parallax adjustment. Remember to choose a scope that suits your intended use and firearm, ensuring you get the best performance and accuracy possible.

2024.05.29 07:18 Double_Reception7485 40k Chaos, as it Stands, is Boring Compared to 30k or AOS. I'm not sure its Staying That Way For Long

To preface: I love Chaos in 40k/30k. Its my favorite faction in the setting, and that will not change
Think, for a second if you will, about Chaos in 40k. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite overarching force and conglomerate of factions within the entire setting. Why? Well, as others have gone to great lengths to point out – both in and outside of the lore perspective and POV – Chaos is us; our thoughts, emotions, hopes, dreams and sins, dialed up to 11. You may start down the road to hell with noble intent, and you may even die on that same road nobly. Live long enough, however, and accrue too much infamy and corruption, you will court the favor of the Dark Gods, their neverborn, and a myriad of other warp entities, and it will damn you eternally.
With that being said, I think 40K Chaos, as it currently stands, gets absolutely shafted in one realm that AoS and, hell, even The Horus Heresy does better: the mysticism and esoterism surrounding corruption and ritual, as well as the variety in which the various “faces” of Chaos are presented.
Lets examine our “modern” 40k for a moment, shall we? It is often said that unsanctioned knowledge of the Chaos Gods most popular names - Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Nurgle – is grounds for immediate execution and the purging of all known (and suspected) family and associates. Fair enough, you are invoking the names and the attention of four deities who’s desire is to add this universe to the infinite number of realms they’ve already subsumed with the warp in their Great Game. Even if that attention comes in the form of some undivided lesser daemon, maybe appearing as a shadowy figure in the rough shape of a human, that one daemon could spell utter doom for a Hive World of trillions.
Ok, yet, the “true” names of the Gods are subjective, aren’t they? Khar’neth, Nurgleth, Slaaneth, Tzaarneth. The more archaic, brutal sounding titles? She Who Thirsts, The Bloody Hunter, Lord of Ravens, and Grandfather Crow? Oftentimes, when Ecclesiarchal missions descend upon a world, especially feral planets, they encounter preexisting religions among the human populace. More often than not, via religious syncretism, the co-opt the tribal deities and spirits of these planets, supplanting them with Imperial Saints and directing total and unwavering devotion to a singular deity, the one true God Emperor of Mankind, in any face that may take. Yet, these planets are not populated by overt Chaos worshippers more often than not, are they? Some tribes, of course, may be deemed too barbaric and flirting with the Pantheon, and thus put to the sword. Yet, more often than not, they merely become new branches of the Imperial Creed.
Now, we all understand worship goes somewhere in the warp. More and more within the lore, the human emanations of faith is psychically reflected, applying the calculus of “structure” in the random, roiling seas of the empyrean. The Emperor of Mankind has, it would seem, indeed become The God Emperor of Mankind. Trillions-Quadrillions of humans, across millions of worlds, over ten thousand+ years, had supplemented The Emperor’s own singular psychic might into something that, if not truly divine under known definitions, warrants their re-examination.
So, where am I going with this? Well, the Chaos Gods operate under as many names and guises as there are planets and cultures within the galaxy. In the Screaming Vortex, whole tribes of warriors drench their blades in the vitae of their enemies in order to earn the favor of Baphtar (Khorne). Thagus Daravek, Abaddon’s main rival for the title of Warmaster during the formative years of the Black Legion, refers to Tzeentch as The Shifting Many. So on, and so on. In The Solar War, reference is made to the billions of mortal auxiliary soldiers on the side of The Warmaster’s Horde, cultists and Imperial Army alike, who “worship the same old gods, with different names” (paraphrasing off memory there, forgive me any inaccuracy).
Those forgotten and repressed faiths, surviving in the dark temples and cult lodges on the fringes of Imperial society, in ramshackle underhive temples or feral world sepulchers of painted rocks and skulls, formed much of the basis for esoterism and occult ritual much of 30k’s more nuanced and detailed approach to Chaos comes from. Maloghurst, burning incense and using Cthonian death coins as the catalyst for sorcerous ritual. The importance of ingredients like horsehair, or more mundane offerings like the tears of a virgin or the blood of a king, or how swords and other melee weaponry, through their symbolism, are far more effective at combatting daemons than conventional weaponry such as autoguns, lasrifles and bolters.
30k just did it better. The cosmology of Chaos – especially with the recent references of Aetheric Dominions – is so much more fleshed out, or to put it more aptly, diverse than in current 40k. Undivided Daemons running amok, ritual that isn’t just virgin’s blood being dumped on the bodies of psychic children daubed in the tears of those lashed 8-by-8 times to summon Borgathula, Eater of a Thousand Stars. The True Names of the Dark Gods are considered a privilege to know, and even then, what are they?
If I were to take it a step further, I’d even argue Age of Sigmar, for its flaws, does so as well, with its Warcry Warbands (boo GW for discontinuing the bulk of those models, shame on you) and their lore providing some of the most interesting lore on just how certain groups can come to worship of their own aspects of Chaos. The Everflame? Coiled Ones? Great Gatherer? Supreme Predator? Tarantulos? Those are F****** awesome. Even in the Lord of the Endtimes novel, we get a superbly interesting depiction of a monk-like daemon prince, who’s followers offer their worship in caste-like tithes. The lowest of the mortal dregs in this prince’s fortress tithe their worship to more powerful warriors, who in turn pass their worship to mortal lieutenants and bound and subjugated daemons, who then offer their worship to the daemon prince, who is the only one allowed to offer the sum of their worship to the Dark Gods. Any others who do so are punished with death.
We get so much of that in 30k/Fantasy/AOS that just translates to so little in 40k, and I think that it’s a damn shame that more writers aren’t going that route
Or, are they?
Now, I understand that after 10,000 years and trillions/quadrillions of loyal Imperial souls imparting the significance of their own symbology into the warp, things may change. A bolter blessed by the local Ecclesiarch in incense and sprinkled with bone dust of holy men may be just as effective in combatting daemons as a sword these days, though I’d find that to be -slightly - lazy writing in context of time. Yet, I’d argue right now, certain writers are looking to The Horus Heresy for inspiration
We’ve had sprinklings of it throughout the decades. Balphomael, greater daemon of Chaos Undivided and a spirit of Faustian bargains, was the first reference we received in a while via FFG Dark Heresy supplements that Undivided Daemons were not simply retconned out of the setting. Then came Samus, first described as an undivided daemon, then assigned a “KHORNE” keyword, then a proto-daemon of The Dark King, and now once again undivided. Madail, Great Daemon and Herald of Undivided. Hell, from what I’ve recently read, even Malice was recently referenced as an entity of Chaos, still worshipped by the titularly named Sons of Malice as recently as BFGA 2. With that seems to be coming a re-examination from a small bit of writers, especially those who write Chaos well. I’ll cite examples such as the Fabius Bile trilogy, where it is acknowledged that the worship from the innumerable lines of mutants and new men spawned by Bile’s gene-tampering clings to him like a cloak, and “Pater Mutatis” is coalescing, or perhaps even already exists, as a chaotic entity within the warp. Vashtorr, Greater Daemon Undivided and Lord of the Soul Forge, has at least one warband who view him as a patron and focal point of worship, and he, as other daemon’s of sufficient power, offers them blessings and mutations in line with his sphere of influence. Yesugei, sealed away in the Blood Gorgon’s Cauldron of Blood, is their patron daemon, while the warband itself still venerates the Pantheon yet declare themselves free of the slavery to them other warbands and legions are bound to. Hell, somewhere in the warp, Madail still exists, Greater Daemon and Herald of Chaos Undivided
I think, as time goes on, many more writers are going to begin taking the nuanced, diverse approach to Chaos. I’d challenge the idea that Aetheric Dominions are a means of introducing future Chaos Gods to the setting, but rather that the five “open seats” or points on the octed star operate as contested spheres, planes of Chaos in which the big 4 all have stakes in, and thus those under which more powerful and, distinctly undivided entities can spawn and operate. With any luck, I believe even more diverse and interesting Chaos Cults may be featured, one’s whose beliefs don’t just boil down to “HARHARHAR I sip the blood of virgins from the skulls of my enemies in the name of my Dark Masters! Now bring me more heads to bash with my axe!” No, instead we’ll start seeing things like “The burning man comes, the head of a black wolf atop his ash-flecked molten form, and he commands me to spill the blood of the dishonorable… and there is none among this whole planet with honor aside from myself and my kin.”

🔗Powerful 28 Gauge Reloader for Framing Nailer

https://preview.redd.it/3y3ckt2kua3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b33c837065ba3c9cb9ef6df87eaacbdc6ada2f83
Recently, I had the opportunity to use the Bostitch BTF83WW 28 Degree Wire Weld Framing Nailer for a quick home improvement project. Right off the bat, I noticed how powerful this little tool was - it easily drove nails through engineered lumber, making the framing process much easier. The ergonomic design made it comfortable to hold and use, even in tight spaces.
However, I did encounter a minor issue with the selectable trigger. While it was useful for switching between single drive and multi-drive modes, it required a small wire clip to access, which could be a bit cumbersome in the field. The rafter hook was made of plastic, which didn't seem very durable, but overall, the product felt well-built and solid.
My experience with the BTF83WW was mostly positive, and I appreciated its ease of use and power. While the selectable trigger and rafter hook could use some improvements, it's a great tool for anyone looking to tackle DIY framing projects.

I've been using the Hornady Crimp Starter 28 Gauge 6 Point for quite some time now, and let me tell you - it's a game-changer. As someone who enjoys a good shotgun round, this press has been nothing but reliable and efficient.
One aspect of this press that really stands out is the interchangeable crimp starters. It's a feature that makes it incredibly versatile, allowing me to work with a variety of shotshell types. I love the fact that it can adapt so easily to any situation.
However, like all products, there are a few minor cons to consider. Sometimes, I find that I need to make adjustments to ensure the perfect crimp - but that's just a small price to pay for the flexibility it offers.
Overall, the Hornady Crimp Starter 28 Gauge 6 Point is an excellent shotgun reloader that has made a significant difference in my shooting experiences.
