Hello iPod!
EDIT: Figured out how to access the Smart Data Menu, picture is at bottom, shows 0 hours as if it is brand new.
I recently purchased a 7th Gen 160GB off of eBay as a gift for my brother. I researched and found that there were a number of questionable refurbs being passed off as new on eBay. To avoid this I found a US based seller who only had a single iPod for sale and who claimed it was an Apple Store apple care replacement that he had never used. It just arrived and I realize that I do not know enough about these things to truly tell if it is all legit.

• To me it seems like the gap between the front and back cases is a little large, I can stick my nail in it and slightly pull the covers apart.
• The screen is inset slightly from the front case and the edge around the screen aperture is crisp/sharp.
• To my eye it also appears as if the serial number text on the case back is slightly crooked? This seems really odd as I want imagine a genuine apple product having this error

I could just be overly suspicious but the iPod came without the box or any accessories, both are easy identifiers of the fakes coming out of China. The iPod came wrapped in only the cellophane sleeve.

Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out to the community for assistance since I couldn't find a precise solution through online searches.
I recently purchased a 5-channel amplifier for my boat and now I'm working on connecting the receiver to the amplifier, along with 4 speakers and a subwoofer.
While most connections are clear, one thing remains unclear to me. How should I connect the subwoofer input on the amplifier with the output from the receiver?
From the receiver diagram provided, it looks like the front/rear line out connections on the amplifier correspond to the front and rear speakers. The amplifier has 4 channels for the speakers and channel 5, dedicated to the subwoofer, has 2 inputs (Channel 5 L/R).
I assume that the front and rear line outs are for the front (×2) and rear (×2) speakers. However, there is also a subwoofer input that is requested by the amplifier that I can't find as an output on the reciever.

Me fully truthful. Hurtful or not.

Hey there Ipod retro tech enthusiasts! I´m based in EU (Germany) and it´s kind of a struggle to get reasonable prices on old Ipods and accessories. The parts market is overpriced and sometimes it is simply not possible to get yout fingers on anything below 5 Gen Ipods.
Especially regarding the 3rd Gen Ipod (Classic) I ran into so many issues getting this thing charged :D I bet most of you at this point know that it´s possible to sync this chunky boy using a normal 30 pin USB cable but it won´t charge. In order to get this done one will need a FireWire cable + plug which is able to output 12V.
FireWire 30 pin connectors are almost identical to normal 30 pin ones. As to my knowledge at least the original Apple FireWire cables tend to have a „longer“ plastic part on the connector side. The biggest difference is regarding the pins inside the connector receiving the current from the plug which is not visible from the outside.
Maybe my struggle and the workarounds I found while fiddling around with my device can be helpful for someone of you. In the end I came up with a couple of options:

• Buy an used original FireWire cable + plug for a most likely high price tag since no aftermarked cables are available in my part oft he world
• Buy an used original docking station. Most likely at a high price, too
• Buy an aftermaked FireWire cable for example from eliteobsoloteelectronics. Bad idea because of shipping prices and import taxes
• The JBL on stage (II) is capable of charging an ipod 3G at 12V and is super cheaply available via ebay and other second hand platforms (5-10€)
• Mercedes Benz Media Interface cables are also capable of outputting 12V via the FireWire pins in the 30 pin connector and are quite cheap through ebay, too (8-10€). See the attached picture
• Build your own FireWire cable using an aftermarked 30 pin cable (aliexpress) and combining it with a 12V step-up module on the USB side. This involves opening the 30 pin connector and changing the small pins (there are some reddit posts for you to look up the right pins to change). This turned out to not be practicable for me at all since I simply was not able to relocate these super small pins in the connector and got tired of these crappy cables

One remark on the Mercedes Benz Interface cable: You will also need a step-up module for the USB side of the cable. Aliexpress offers these „step-up“- cables with random plugs on the device side of the cable for super cheap. My advice is to combine the FireWire connector of the Mercedes Benz cable with the step-up cable from ali and MacGyver your own cable :D For me it was the orange and black cable I had to solder to the step-up module 😉

I have a bunch of songs that were on there but I don’t want to wipe the device as I lost the Apple ID like 10 years ago. If I enter the files it seems to be encrypted. Also yes I am on a Chromebook (I’m at school xD)

I am flying high today! Scored all this stuff, plus’s a Jiffy stand up steamer! The sale had several of my dream kitchen electronics, including a Zojirushi rice cooker, Nespresso milk frother, Raclette grill, and a new Instant Pot Ultra! Everything appears to be either new or in pristine condition. Also got a copy of Food Lab for $5!
There’s also some art supplies including a several Blackwing pencil products (a nearly full box of new pencils, a set of colored pencils, & the remnants of a gift set including accessories). Plus some waterproof headphones (always wanted some for swimming laps!) and a bag of Apple cords, ear buds, an Apple mouse, and an old iPod shuffle (this was a bit of a gamble, but worth it I think).
Don’t mind me, I’ll be over here doing the happy dance! 🤗
