2024.05.19 17:41 ImCursedM8 [REQUEST] [STEAM] Dark souls 3- $20 on driffle.com

Hello, I am kinda new to this sub and still trying to figure out some stuff, I just hope I didn't make any mistake with Post Format.
I am not too familiar with this sub and at first when I found out about it I was actually kinda surprised to learn there was any sort of website out there in deep parts of the internet where people were willing to give away some games to people who were desperate for it but didn't have the means to buy them themselves , but I actually witness the opposite of my skepticism.
many of those that had posted in here actually had their wish fulfilled, and that gave me hope to, maybe, also try my luck here.
Games are something most of us, by the moniker of " gamer ", enjoy thoroughly in our free time. Whether it is to escape the real life struggles or just feel something that cannot be felt it the said real life, doesn't really matter. All of us enjoy games for one reason or another.
What really matters tho, is the feeling bliss all of us feel when playing the game either with our friends or just enjoy the struggles and outcomes of fictional characters' lives.
I still remember how much fun I had as a child when my father brought me my first PC and I downloaded GTA San Andreas there.
sadly, I haven't enjoyed games much in those last couple years, not as I used to as kid. at least, not until few months ago when I tried souls games, mainly Elden ring.
I didn't know much about souls games till I tried Elden RIng, and man. it was such an amaizing journey from beginning to the end. I already put more then 160 hours in it. but as much fun as it is, eventually I stopped playing it as I memorized pretty much everything in the game and it was not as fun to play as it was in the first few playthroughs.
and just as I finally let go of Elden ring and returned to my dull life, my friend decided to invite my friends and me at sleep over and when I got there I saw Dark souls 3 installed on their desktop. I was bored in that moment and booted it to have some fun and kill time.
I was miserable in the first hour. it took some time to get used to the controls which were beet different from that of Elden RIng's but once it clicked, it was never the same afterwards.
I played the whole game that night and didn't even pay my friends any attention, even tho I was there to have fun with bros to begin with haha.
This was my second time having so much fun playing a game since my childhood. Dark souls 3 and Elden ring reignited the fun of playing games that i thought was slowly disappearing inside of me.
I don't have a game myself on Pc so I have been staying over with my friend for a while, playing it as much as I possible can before he gets finally annoyed and kicks me out haha.
I just love dark souls 3.
I love how hopeless and melancholic the whole world is. I love how miserable everything feels. the whole world feels like it is dying and just can't keep on going. I love the NPCs, each more interesting then the other.
If Elden Ring is power fantasy adventure. then Dark souls 3 is just a miserable tragic tale of a dying world.
as much as it is fun to annoy my friend by staying over doing nothing but playing that game, I would like to own it too on Pc. sadly, I been struggling financially lately. not just me but my whole country.
I cannot afford Dark souls 3 on my own so I would like to make an humble request here. IF any of you kind redditors have opportunity to gift me this beautiful game, I would be truly honored and happy.
The game's 60$ of steam which is way to much to ask
but it's $20 bucks here, or u can gift it to me from any other sites if u want. Thanks

2024.05.19 17:36 KingJames0613 Warrants/Units could allow shareholders to take huge profits without selling a single share.

Warrants are equity derivatives/contracts that give an investor the opportunity to buy shares at a specified price, usually valid for several years and able to be exercised anytime before the expiration date. However, owning a warrant does not mean you are obligated to buy them.
Units are similar to warrants. Units can be a bit more complex and can come in several forms, but they usually give rights to convert to shares at a future date (delayed dilution). Units can sometimes include shares and warrants in them. Warrants/Units can be traded, just like options and futures. Warrants/Units can be issued with or attached to bonds, common stock, and preferred stock. Theoretically, GameStop could issue warrants/units directly to shareholders as a dividend, likely 1:1 relative to shares owned.
With a 1:1 conversion ratio, much like a regular cash dividend, stock price would appreciate fairly proportionately, relative to the pricing of the warrants/units. There would be no initial dilution, as the dilution would only occur upon exercise. In the larger picture, it wouldn't matter because. This would be the doom-loop, infinite money glitch. And you would never have to sell a single share, just the warrants/units.
This would be brilliant in a few ways:
  1. By issuing warrants/units directly to shareholders, as a dividend, this puts the ball in the shareholders' court. Power to the Players. The company would be absolved from any regulatory/legal scrutiny related to manipulating the price. Warrant/Unit market pricing would be dictated by the shareholders. You sell them for what you think they're worth. Or, you just hodl them and punish shorts harder. It's up to you.
  2. Nobody would have to sell shares, you would just sell your warrants/units to cash out a big payday. Even RC, the Board of Directors, long pensions/funds could capitalize big by selling warrants/units, without selling a single share. Yes, this would dilute the float, relative to the amount of underlying shares exercised, but it allows the company to reward shareholders, retain shareholder equity positions, and raise a massive amount of capital in the process.
  3. DRS is still the way. However, for those of us with lots of equity tied up in retirement plans, warrants/units would give you the same ability to cash out as DRS shares without having to sell anything. Now, I wouldn't be surprised to see some fuckery in the pricing and selling of warrants/units through a broker, especially when trying to set a limit price.
  4. Bonds, common stock and/or preferred stock could also be tied in with the warrants/units. This opens the door to making shareholders also stakeholders. This also makes it so that underwater shorts have to negotiate directly with shareholders, rather than begging the company for an out.
  5. By utilizing the shelf offering, the company can do any of these things in small increments, multiple times over. By utilizing a 1:1 ratio, stock price and warrant/unit price would move pretty much in tandem. If they offered a higher conversion ratio, say 4:1 (warrants/units to buy 4 shares for every 1 share owned), the underlying GME share price would trade proportionately lower than the warrant/unit market price. In this scenario, price appreciation on warrants/units would drag GME share price up with it. However, if they opted for a slow bleed, lower conversion ratio, say 1:10 (warrants/units to buy 1 share for every 10 owned), the underlying GME share price would trade proportionately higher than the warrant/unit market price. In this scenario, price appreciation on warrants/units would push GME share price higher. Additionally, this scenario provides a rinse and repeat aspect.
Regardless of what the company chooses to do, and I'm not pretending to know, this shelf registration provides several avenues to reward shareholders, while also strengthening the company's balance sheet, without anyone having to sell a single share. If they were to do a lower conversion ratio, this could be done multiple times. Yes, there would be dilution at the time of exercise, but your equity could remain intact (if you so choose). If you trust your RCEO like I do, you can see that the long game here is a solid balance sheet, nearly completed turnaround, and a severely undervalued company that is sitting on the doorstep of S&P inclusion. This shelf registration can allow the company to raise capital, while also letting shareholders capture a huge payday, without having to give up your equity.

2024.05.19 17:33 PowerWisdomCourage07 Sometimes I feel like I'm the unreasonable one for saying "Edelgard is the heroine of 3 Houses and when the story pretends she isn't, that's bad writing". Then her haters say "Red hitler killed her family and conquered the other nations for power" and I feel better.

Edelgard is the hero. The only moral greyness here is that she works with the Dubstep Molemen instead of trying to kill them all a day after becoming the Emperor... If she fails she wants to die by Dimitri's hand... She didn't have Hubert reach out to Claude about the Slitherers... She's willing to sacrifice Bernie if forced to... she was too hurt to reach out to the other House Leaders and try to get them on her side while they have no good excuse for not reaching out to her and taking the risk of opening up to them means taking the risk they will ruin her only shot at the power needed to change things... and she's willing to risk the Slitherers defeating her after she conquers the other nations.
Dimitri is a lunatic who eventually gets over it. The story takes for granted that he is always justified and necessary and his redemption and rise as a good King is worth whatever it takes to get there. Where this story normally has the balls to call out bad Lords and bad Nobles and bad Goddesses, it falls apart with Dimitri because they want to sell funko pops of him. Dimitri has people in his House who were hurt by Nobility or Crests or both yet they never get to make a coherent argument for continuing the nobility because to argue for such a thing is impossible without assuming the system is right to privilege the lucky and hold down the many. No, not anyone can wield a speshul weapon, so these people should be soldiers who can dedicate their lives to training and battle, these people should not be high ranking government officials overburdened with other responsibilities. The Crested, the Nobles, the Royals, they are not inherently better than commoners, and the system should not treat them as such.
Rhea had countless years to get over her losses and stop experimenting on people. Countless years to try harder to remedy the abuses of power in her system.
It is bad writing that Hubert enjoys going mwahaha and likes being feared and hated and was raised to be a fanatically devoted servant of Lady Edelgard because when he is that, there is no interesting tension in who he is as a person, what he wants to be, what he has been through, what he wants for the world. Dedue is written the way he is to humanize the victims of Duscur blamed for the Tragedy of Duscur and humanize Dimitri because Dimitri didn't blame Dedue for all of this and try to slay him on the spot, Dimitri tried to save him, and Dedue continues to serve Dimitri despite how he is hated because that's what a big deal Dimitri is to Dedue. When Dedue becomes a monster it's written as a noble sacrifice, and when Edelgard and some of her nameless faceless soldiers become monsters it's written as a tragic loss of humanity. Even though it would have been so much stronger if the Black Eagles Strike Force got to have that moment with the Crest Stones, not faceless Empire troops. Make them survive longer than they did if need be, Hubert survived death enough times.
Edelgard isn't "a literal fascist", she doesn't even give a damn about railroads. I bet she's never read a single book on fascism by actual fascists. Or a book on fascism by people who detest fascism and would surely definitely totally represent it more honestly than anyone else and understand it better than anyone else too.
Yes, I believe it is bad writing when the writers of this game try to paint Edelgard as someone more morally grey than she is while painting her opposition as better people than they are. Yes, I believe it is unfair to hold Edelgard responsible for what she potentially does in routes that demonize her while refusing to give her credit for what she does in routes where she is the hero. Yes, I believe it is unreasonable for her haters to say "She is evil for working with the Slitherers instead of taking them out overnight" as if that would be easy when they have a nuclear missile and Nemesis and as much control over the Kingdom as they want. Edelgard's flaws make her an interesting complex hero and Dimitri and Rhea's flaws make them interesting detestable villains. More interesting than the Slitherers.
Remind me again, what's that nonsense platitude Dimitri spouts when it comes to Edelgard's hatred of the Goddess who failed her, and her belief that mankind is better without such delusional superstition? Something about him believing people are strong where she believes they are weak, or vice reversa, or something something cycle of violence? Edelgard is right to detest the myth of the Goddess who failed to save her family. It's not like she plans to outlaw it across all of Fodlan once she takes the throne.
Would you say the cops are going too far if, instead of giving a billion dollar company a fine of a few million dollars for killing and failing people, they ensured the people responsible were punished appropriately and got replaced no matter who was willing to die to violently defend them and the power they abuse?
Every time the writers try pretending Edelgard is "pushing things too far too fast" they make excuses for the system and its injustices and act as if it's the victim's responsibility to ensure the continuity of authority or the peaceful transfer of power. Dimitri is a terrible king and so was his father. Claude couldn't protect Lysithea. Edelgard strives to make a better world without the problems that create people like Edeglard, Dimitri, Lysithea, Dorothea, Hanneman, Mercedes, Jeritza, Byleth, and more. In the routes where Edelgard doesn't win, we are told things still got better because this is a video game meant to sell characters and it would harm the FEH profits if people who picked a house solely for a character they were attracted to were told this results in a bad ending where the problems only Edelgard truly cared about enough continue to plague the continent. For as much as this story roleplays as a deep nuanced tale of countries and ideologies at war, this is still a product under capitalism meant to sell, and the most financially viable route under capitalism is to "Both sides" the problems the rich and powerful and privileged create for the underdogs and demonize any underdogs who "go too far" to preserve the illusion of neutrality. Even though being neutral on a question like "Should the system that enabled the family problems of Mercedes and Bernadetta continue or be annihilated across all of Fodlan by any means necessary?" is abominable.

What's up guys! It's your friendly Genshin overthinker Inotia King. As always before we begin I just want to make sure new readers have checked out my first topic which is the basis for all my theories. So if you haven't checked that out yet please click here.
The new story's come and gone now and it seems to just be a reinforcement for what we've seen previously. We did already know that Remus tried to pull a Deshret but now we're seeing how far people go to achieve this flawed idea. Both Remus and Deshret before him realized just a little too late that preserved eternity was never going to work and dissolving everybody's consciousnesses into a collective goo was a bad idea. The Golden Slumber didn't save anybody and neither would melting people into Ichor, shoving their bodies into statues and then shoving them into a magical musical score. Ei lucked out in this sense. She had Yae pulling out all the stops to prevent it, using the Traveler to push Ei into place for Makoto to finally show her what she'd learned herself.
So while it isn't groundbreaking to know that Boethius was wrong just like Rene would also be wrong centuries later I think this quest series gave us a few more details and showcased more of the research the miHoYo devs do for these regions. Therefore just like I did last year with Farakhkert I want to discuss a few of them.

We've actually known about this city (town?) for a long time. I think it's actually the first Fontaine city we learn about, all the way back when Inazuma first released. I don't think anybody really thought too much about it either but now it's name really makes sense. Petrichor is made from the two Greek words petr and ichor so in terms of Genshin it's very on the nose. Remus literally turned his people into ichor by dissolving their Oceanid bodies with the Primordial Sea and then shoving the resulting goo into statues, the petr or stone. In real life petrichor is just the smell of rainwater on dirt and the word ichor is actually what the Greeks called the blood of gods. From a Genshin perspective it was in a way what Remus intended the Ichor to be, a way for humanity to break free from fate which they believed was the power the gods had over them.
But what is actually new is where Petrichor is. Previously we didn't even know that Fontaine was on an artificially raised platform so there was no reason to believe Petrichor would fall into some weirdly separated space yet still be called part of the region. Our oldest information about it was just that it's waters were very pure and it was beautiful. Yeah that's pretty much all of Fontaine though. In fact we knew so little about Petrichor back then that even by v4.3 Xavier, who is a local never talked about how it wasn't actually located on the Fontaine plateau but rather some separated area where even the drown-proof aspect of Fontaine's waters didn't reach. So what is this area of Fontaine called? Nostoi which is Greek for "return." In our world it was part of the story about the Trojan War, preceding Homer's the Odyssey and acts like a prologue for that part of the story, the return of the Greek heroes besides Odysseus back from the war. (There's an "Ajax" who dies in this story though he's not the same Ajax that Childe is based on.)
Side Note: This timeline placement might also be important but that's a topic for another day.
There's actually a French connection to Petrichor too probably to justify it's inclusion in a French region lol. If you talk to Xavier's childhood friend (and girl next door) Goldoni, her possessing Remurian tells you about Petrocorii a territory of Remuria that fell to barbarians. In our world the petrocorii were Gauls that opposed the Roman Republic during Caesar's time. Unlike petr-ichor, petro-corii is Gallic for four (petro) armies (corios) with corii acting as a common suffix for their tribes.
Actually this connection to Gauls keeps going. In the same dialogue that Goldoni tells us about Petrocorii she name drops Lucius Septimius Sebelius which is a reference to Emperor Lucius Septimius Severus. (Sebelius is likely just an intentional bastardization of Severus but Sebelius is a real surname too.) Severus is notable for being the founder of the last Roman Dynasty before the Crisis of the Third Century, when Rome was temporarily defeated by the Gallic Empire. I actually brought up this part of Roman history in another topic about something that should have been totally unrelated lol. It was about how religion was historically tied to currency on our side of the world.
Side Note: Goldoni herself may be a reference to the Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. I bring this up because it's a common theme when it comes to Remuria but that's also a topic for another day.
Finally when possessed Goldoni calls Xavier, Xaverius. This is a reference to Franciscus Xaverius or Saint Francis Xavier, the first missionary that went to Japan before it went into Sakoku. The name Xavier is interesting by itself though. It actually predates most of these references because it's a Latinized version of the Paleo-European (Basque) surname Echevarria meaning new house. The Basques are the last surviving ethnic group native to Europe (current Europeans are all some form of Indo-European, including the Celts, Romans, Germanics) and their modern populations are located in Spain and France, influencing both nations over time. Who knew our engineefilmmaker would be such an interesting reference to his hometown which also is a preceding ancient culture that heavily influenced the modern French-inspired one?
Side Note 1: After completing the Remuria World Quest it's discovered that Petrichor is stagnating. The elderly are increasingly closed off and the young find the town boring and are starting to leave. This might be a reference to the Vatican which has the world's oldest median age. As the headquarters of Catholicism it's also very traditional and young people have been leaving it too, though part of the reason is disillusionment of religion over the many scandals plaguing the church. (That said the young Petrichorians might wanna stick around. If Mecantre and Babisse are brainstorming what I think they are then Petrichor might become really interesting one day.)
Side Note 2: Geographically Petrichor would more likely be based on Corsica but there is no shortage of self-importance as a stereotype of the Corsicans. No young people are going to ditch that town anytime soon. It was the birthplace of Napoleon after all. However that could actually be the link to Petrichor, to the pre-World Quest version where everybody is a proud Remurian. According to a friend I have who is part French, as arrogant as the rest of the world see the French, the French see the Corsicans. And certainly that was the vibe we got upon speaking to all of the Remurians.

Yes the previous section was just the name of the region and all the stuff we can gather from just that. That's how miHoYo's devs do things haha
Now for a speed round. Hortus is the Proto-Indo-European for garden while euergetis is Greek for a worker who does good work. Together it probably means Garden of the Good Worker. However Euergetis can also be a title applied to good leaders specifically female leaders of the Hellenistic world. (Euergetes is the masculine form) Cleopatra III was also called Cleopatra Euergetis for example. The "garden" can only be reached by doing the World Quest so it's likely this garden honors Sybilla who does have the merits to justify the title.
With Caesareum Palace I'm pretty sure miHoYo was going for the specific Caesareum of Alexandria so they mean a temple but that's not was Caesareum actually means. It just means Julius Caesar who of course doesn't exist in Genshin. (although going off of Rene's Root Cycle stuff he's supposed to show up sooner or later lol)
Collegium Phonascorum is probably the easiest to match with the theme. It's just a group of music teachers. Since the whole thing was getting people ready for the Grand Symphony it makes sense to have some teachers teaching the music stuff. That said it's not actually a group at all. It's the name of a place and that makes sense with its real name 谐律院 or Courtyard of Harmony. Actually 谐律 is really fitting. The term does mean harmony but in both the sense of being united in peace and in terms of musical harmony, being in tune with each other. It's a very nice allusion to what the Grand Symphony was meant to do.
That said Phobos is such a red flag lol! Phobos aka phobia is the God of Fear. (alongside brother Deimos) No wonder this genius plan failed.
https://preview.redd.it/k2lmfvgafe1d1.png?width=1364&format=png&auto=webp&s=bd55e79583981fdd6931c63f78390870e79fedf2
Wasn't Fortuna the man's boat? Can't have a physical device double as an abstract concept my friends. That said if Fortuna actually means fate then it fits even better with the Stella Fortuna thing Ashikai came up with before, but she'd have to forego the connection with sun gods.
Sebastos is the Greek version of Augustus. But I don't think Sebastos Remus is correct syntax. If this was Latin then honorifics come after the name so Remus Augustus. It would be just like the Guuji Yae issue. In English the localization team went with Guuji Yae but Raiden Shogun. Raiden Shogun is correct but because of that the correct syntax would be Yae Guuji, surnames followed by titles. In Greek we have Oedipus Rex or Oedipus Tyrannus so the titles do come after the name and therefore it should be Remus Sebastos. But I read somewhere that modern Greek puts the titles first like keerie Remus would be Mr. Remus and not Remus keerie. If there are Greeks reading this please advise thanks!
Osse the cat first named himself Ouranides of Ouranopolis. Ouranides is just the name for the first generation of Titans because they were the children of Ouranos. I'm not sure what that was trying to reference for the game. Ouranos would be Saturn so he's one of the Classical Planets that have come up before. It is interesting to note that the children of the sea, the Oceanides were the second generation of Titans. Maybe Osse was trying to suggest that Remurians were the first generation of Fontainians while the ones we know of today (the former Oceanid humans) are the second?
Anyway Ouranopolis is a real place or it was. It's just south of Macedonia. Today there's a small town there called Ouranopoli with a very lovely beach. Pretty sure that's not what Remus was going for when he called it the city of the future.
And of course we learn that our keerie Ouranides is really Cassiodor based on Magnus Aurelius Cassiodorus who was born in Scylletium. Probably just a cute reference. Scylla himself is a reference to a monster from the Odyssey sometimes described like a hydra. (S)he was the lesser of two evils because the seemingly weaker Charybdis sucked up water and anything that happens to be floating on it. We have a reference to Charybdis too all the way back in the Narzissenkreuz World Quest when we go to Fort Charybdis Ruins.
Anyway Cassiodorus was a contemporary of Boethius and actually replaced him as magister officiorum when he was accused and executed for conspiracy against Rome. Gee if only Remus had let Romulus run things huh? The Romurian Empire would've seen Boe-boe coming a mile away. That said his charges were trumped up. Real life Boethius was a good guy. He was trying to reunite the Western and Eastern Roman Empires. (albeit it probably wasn't going to happen since the "Western Roman Empire" we're talking about is Germanic Rome and even today we have trouble accepting that Rome.) Cassiodorus himself lasted much longer probably because he was stationed in the Eastern Roman Empire and became more focused on education than politics. Finally, he would retire to Castellum not a golden castellum but a monastery where he continued supporting education.
Before we dive into the Faded Castle part there are NPCs that are also significant. First you have Contarini Tiepolo a cop whose name is actually made up of two surnames from important Venetian families. She interpreted some of her lingering memories from being possessed as the Liliacruces Ordo. This is another fiction actually. The Liliacruces Ordo is based on the Narzissenkreuz Ordo and was popularized in Fontaine's mystery novels that Paimon likes so much.
Her father Tiepolo is the Doge. It's not bit currency but Italian for the Latin Dux or leader. It was a title used in the Republic of Venice and he's actually based on the first Duke of the city-state, Jacopo Tiepolo. Duke is also a form of Dux.

We already knew Cassiodor was a Harmost but now these Remurians are calling him Dominus. Harmost is Greek, specifically Spartan for a military leader. As it relates to what Remus did during his conquests the Spartans used the Harmosts to undermine Athens push for democracy with the Delian League. Similarly Dominus is a title used by Roman Emperors only after the Crisis of the Third Century when it started declining and becoming more authoritarian. Dominus actually translates to head or master like that of a household. For instance Roman slaves addressed their masters as Dominus.
And it's the household thing that plays out in the next term: Domus Aurea or the Golden House. (A dominus is the head of the domus.) It's cute to think this is some kind of link between Remuria and Liyue. Ashikai would love this kind of detail for her God King theory. But I don't think it's what it is. The Golden House in Liyue is literally just the Golden House 黄金屋 whereas Domus Aurea was 黄金的大宫. 大宫 is much more glamorous than 屋. For example the White House is 白宫 and 故宫 is the Imperial Palace. The real Domus Aurea relates more to that latter example. It was Nero's second home after he supposedly burned down Rome in 64AD just to have it built. Sounds about right with who we're dealing with in Genshin's version.
Side Note: Actually could that be why there's a Caesareum Palace? I mean Caesar did burn down Alexandria. And then after he died Cleopatra built the Caesareum to commemorate him. So it could relate to Nero and then our Remus. What do you guys think?
To get to Domus Aurea we're told we need to breach the Initium Iani. Initium means entrance and in the original Chinese it's door which actually works really amusingly with Iani or the Roman god Ianus because he's the God of Doors. Well pretty much all definitions for initium parallel what Ianus was so we could translate Initium Iani as the Doorway of the God of Doorways, Entrance of the God of Entrances, Transition of the God of Transitions, etc. The point was that Ianus represented a change in something like when you change rooms by going through a door, the changes in season every year or changing of the guard between historical periods. It's like the miHoYo devs just wanted to throw in a cute easter egg only nerds would get, the doorway to end all doorways lol
Side Note: Also because their names are so close to each other apparently Janus (alt spelling for Ianus) got mistaken for Juno (Iuno is the more accurate spelling*) sometimes confusing which god represented which month. It's funny because I had previously brought up Juno (and the Golden House actually) in that totally unrelated topic about the Gauls and the history of currency. Again this is all probably just coincidental. I just found it funny.
\or* Yuno for us anime fans. Rome's version was probably more stable though. Then again she is based on Hera so....

And that was all the references I found interesting from the new quest. It's really long so I think I'll leave it at that and save the lore deep dive for next time.

What's up guys! It's your friendly Hoyoverse overthinker Inotia King. As always before we begin I just want to make sure new readers have checked out my older topics which my newer theories are built upon. So for the Genshin ones you can click here. And for the Honkai related ones you can click here.

(alongside brother Deimos) No wonder this genius plan failed.
https://preview.redd.it/0jlk5qv7fe1d1.png?width=1364&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8fe58f58d7b768153daa7568573b3b3fa008410

Once we dive down it turns out that the little harp thing we grabbed was part of a series that tells Remuria's history in the Ancient Autoharmonic Music Box.
The first piece of this melody is the Locus Amoenus or lovely place in Latin. The rest though are actually part of the Sequentia section of Mozart's Requiem which is of course a musical piece to honor the dead and also how we stop the Phobos. Sequentia is followed by the sinners being saved and brought to salvation in Offertorium, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei. (Agnus Dei is an allusion to Jesus and there's another really obvious one in this quest too.) Mozart actually didn't complete his Requiem and died while only completing the introduction. Joseph von Eybler is the one that actually finished the Sequentia parts and then a guy by the name of Franz Xaver Süssmayr finished the salvation portions. Franz Xaver. Hmmmm. Yes Franz is Germanic for Franciscus or Francis and Xaver is the Germanic for Xavier. Cute that one of our first Fontainian NPCs and also a native to Petrichor has such a large role in its history, at least in real world references.
Before heading into the painting portal thing to get to memory world Remuria we can find a few choice books in this castle. I'll get more into them later but for now there was one term that's interesting. Cunicoricus is the predecessor to Erinnyes of Aremorica. In real life he's Welsh and the adoptive father of King Arthur in local legends. Last week I brought up Clervie and Crucabena who are also Welsh (and Irish) characters and King Arthur has been referenced a few times now with relation to Khaenri'ah.
https://preview.redd.it/yfit75i9he1d1.png?width=1908&format=png&auto=webp&s=56556c8d13132fec87e7d29600de5d3ec7300d4e

2024.05.19 17:33 Semijestam convince me

It was launched in 2011 by SOE, of course they used a PS3 server cluster to cut expenses and they still use a PS3 server cluster because each owner from Columbus Nova to EG7 still won't invest in supporting their game with the most suckers to spend on their no more new power ability game with procedural approval processes with the license for DC property use.
Convince me they are still not utilizing a PS3 server cluster for all of their SOE/DBG games. They did it for Warhawk, a PS3 game in 2007. https://blog.playstation.com/2007/08/08/behind-the-curtain-the-warhawk-servers/
PS3 Server Cluster
Seemingly since the extra long daily server reset months ago: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/animation-delay.331460/
Will EG7 invest in their studio that is included in the report to shareholders as being their solid money maker?

2024.05.19 17:30 NWASicarius Cosmic Insight is a lot stronger than what most might realize

Let me preface this post by stating I am making this on my phone, so my formatting will probably be hideous. I am sorry. I appreciate any of you who still choose to read through my post and add your own thoughts on the topic. Now, let's get started on why I made this post.
You may often see inspiration tree recommended as either your primary or (more likely) your secondary tree. Oftentimes you will see 'cosmic insight' suggested. You may opt to change it, if you are unaware why it is so strong. You may leave it, but not understand why you take it. You might just autopilot and not really care. Regardless, if you are someone who likes the concept of strategizing in league, this post is for you.
Now, let's discuss what cosmic insight offers you:
18 summoner spell haste 10 item haste
These aren't exactly flashy, right? Especially when you compare them to other tree's third row/tier. Summoner spell haste is already great. It has good synergy with lucidity boots, too. I am not too concerned about explaining the value of it in this post. You can go to the league Fandom website and see how much it will lower your summoner spell CDs, and then you can draw your own conclusions from there. What I really wanted to have a discussion about is the second line (item haste). This works with actives and passives that have CDs (i.e. An active passive such as Zhonyas will have a lower CD if you take cosmic insight. A passive that has a CD such as Luden's companion will also have a lower CD if you take cosmic insight). OK, so you may be thinking 'so what?' Well, let's use the aforementioned Luden's companion as our primary example below.
Luden's companion has a baseline CD of 12 seconds. Every 12 seconds, you get your 6 charges. However, when you take cosmic insight, you lower that CD to just under 11 seconds (10.91 to be exact). It might not seem like much, but think about skirmishes. Think about extended teamfights. Think about the trades during standoffs around an important objective that spawns. Heck, think about it over the course of an entire game. It all adds up more than you might realize. Just like how the balance team will sometimes add or takeaway 5 AD from a champion, and then said champion's winrate will fluctuate X% as a result. Most might see that tiny change and think 'that doesn't do much', but they would mistaken. Obviously, depending on your build, cosmic insight's usefulness will fluctuate. If you are playing Malzahar, for example, then cosmic insight probably isn't worth it. You probably won't even have any items that can utilize it.
Finally, with all of this said, let me tell you which items (meaning if you build these items, you should heavily consider taking cosmic insight) gain a substantial amount of power with cosmic insight:
Any sheen item - especially Ezreal players that build one
Unending despair - ANY player building this seriously needs to take cosmic insight or just don't build this item.
Any tear item - regardless of your champ, if you build tear, take cosmic insight. You will get stacks so much faster, and your completed item passives will be up more frequently
AD junglers that plan to build a tiamat item or sundered sky
Bonus point: If you play ARAM, I'd take cosmic insight on any poke champ who builds even just one item that benefits from it
I could have spent hours on this post giving comparisons to other third line/tier options from the same [inspiration] tree as well as other trees, but there is no real definitive 'always take X rune' type thing. Sometimes you may take a different tree than inspiration purely because of the first or second line/tier rune that is offered there. My primary goals here were to shed light on the items that benefit a lot from cosmic insight and to hopefully have at least one person see this post and have their brain start churning. People need to realize runepage adjustments can sometimes be so clutch; especially in scenarios where your champ looks like it's going to have a hard time. The combination of adjusting your runes and items based on different scenarios can legit turn what would feel like unplayable matches into somewhat salvageable matchups. Even if all you gain overall is a slightly higher win percentage, that's better than having more losses, right?
Anyways, enough of my rambling. Sorry if my post was all over the place. Feel free to agree or disagree in the comments. Feel free to not comment at all. I just had an itch in my head that wouldn't go away until I shared this information. Happy gaming to you all!

2024.05.19 17:28 Slow_Cook_8536 What if we had to fight a composer?

Something I've noticed that makes me respect composers a lot is that there is never any opportunity to fight with them because you just...can't. They are untouchable and far above. Victories against them are almost always symbolic rather than resolved with a fight.
It seems that in Neo it was planned that we would fight Hazuki but in the end that didn't happen...but what if we fought against a composer...what do you imagine it would be like? Would the composer use a noise form or base form? Would it even have a life bar? Would it be infinite or would we not be able to empty it completely? What would their attacks be like? I'm curious because the closest thing to fighting one is when Another Neku confronts Hanekoma and he uses a noise form and in the end when Neku wins, Hanekoma is not erased as happens to many reapers and he doesn't even look tired. So it means that he held back, right? Do you think he could continue fighting without problems? He did have a life bar that we managed to empty but even so it's as if nothing happened to him... Maybe he could even assume that noise form again as if nothing had happened... in fact I wonder if when an angel uses a noise form means that they are using a lot of their power or they just do it because it is a rule of the game or something and even if they use it it does not mean that they are using their true abilities...
It is also important to mention that Joshua demonstrates that he can paralyze players without a problem. I imagine that Hanekoma could also have done that at any time against Another Neku...also when Kitaniji and Joshua fuse he seems to become stronger but how exactly does that fusion work? Shouldn't Kitaniji have become almost invincible by being combined with a divine being? Although Joshua also lent his strength to Neku in that final battle and that may be why he managed to win. What do you think? And also, would you respect them less if we faced one and "defeated" it, but like with Hanekoma, it's as if nothing happened to them?

2024.05.19 17:23 Overall_Cookie_7130 Shoga's physiology

Lotus eye: The pupil of the shogas have a similar look to a lotus and it allows them to see the soul of other living being and give some sort of equivalent to mind reading but that depends on how strong they are
Female shoga: Female shogas are pretty tall going with height going between 6 and 8 foot and their body type can range from lean to pretty muscular. Their physiology is much stronger than human's physiology, a healthy shoga could take over a planet in about two months and it gets faster if they're stronger
Male shoga: Male shoga can be tall and athletic too but they don't possess the same control of the shoga's abilities but they still have the eyes normally
Soul switching: So when one soul take control of the body the body change appearance and gender and they can also take the appearance of the other soul if they want but don't really do it except for reproduction
Death: after thousands of years the shoga found a way to prevent their death and make themselves immortal and without a finality. This is the reason why Finality came on their planet and made Cookie
The queen: Mai was made by selective breeding and genetic engineering so that she would be the peak of their race, and they succeeded. She's strong enough to take over dozens of solar systems in a day but what they didn't anticipate was that she would be a pacifist. Her ability to see and feel the soul of other is so strong that she basically feel it when anyone dies in big radius from her so she knows how death feels and don't really wants to inflict that on other so their creation kind of back fired and the shoga's laws and politics completely changed.
Cookie and Chip: They're kind of a special case but to put it in simple way they both have half of finality existence and shoga DNA that makes chip a little shorter than other shoga and a bit less muscular. Chip's power is way beyond her mom as she exists to eradicate the whole race including her mom and she's not really a pacifist like her mom because of Finality's existence inside of her making her a little antipathic to other people's pain and sees it as a game and she knows her purpose.

2024.05.19 17:19 TheMadeline Games with third person shooting where I can be a coward and hide or pause time while I figure out what to do?

I like third person shooters (or rather, games that have third person shooting elements but also have other fun stuff going for them), but I panic when things move too fast in combat, or if I’m surrounded by enemies on all sides. My usual instinct is hide really far away from enemies and pop out to shoot occasionally, but I’m trying to be less of a coward, lol.
Anyone have recommendations for games where I can hide and take a breather, or like, sprint away to hide if I get overwhelmed? Another bonus would be the ability to pause time but still move my camera around to assess the situation.
Examples:
Anyone have more recommendations for coward-friendly games?

2024.05.19 17:18 iLikeMangosteens Follow the money - RCEO’s money

If you ever want to know what’s going on in the world, follow the money. Always follow the money.
So what do you think Ryan Cohen is going to do with the 36,847,842 shares that RC Ventures owns? Sell at the top after a giant squeezy run-up? Lol, no. How would that look, to other shareholders, to institutional investors, to employees, to the SEC? If he sells, what would happen to his control of the company, could he protect his remaining shares? And what would the price action look like if he tried to dump even a fraction of that amount at or near the top?
And let’s assume that RC is not a charitable benefactor whose only purpose in life is to rain tendies upon a legion of regarded apes. He might be in this to make money for himself and employees too. Follow the money.
RC and other GameStop insiders will need to sell or divest some day, maybe decades from now, to retire, to pass to family members, make charitable donations, etc. But they can’t benefit from a temporary squeeze here in 2024 if they can’t sell and the price returns to $10 afterwards. So follow the money...
For RC to get his billions, the gains need to be locked in - not for an hour or a day or a week, but for years or decades. So how can that happen? Follow the money!
This week RC proved that he’s in control of the message. Announcing the quarterly results early was a power move. It shows he can move the stock when he wants to. Shorts should be very afraid because RC is in control of the price (“always has been”, “used to too”). Friday’s price move was 100% intentional, they didn’t have to announce results early, they didn’t have to make a shelf, and even the most regarded investor would know those announcements would drop the stock. Not a mistake. Follow the money.
There is now nothing stopping GameStop from trading their own shares whenever they want, and they’re in control of the message. They can make strategically timed announcements. They have a billion dollars in cash. Soon it could be a lot more. They can buy and sell whenever they want to.
Have you figured it out yet? Here’s my hypothesis: the squeeze will be controlled by RC and it will put cash into GME’s bank account. GME can pump and dump their own stock for cash that will benefit long term shareholders. And nobody can complain because it’s the shareholders that benefit. Anyone swing trading is going to be roadkill. F*** your puts, F*** your calls, cry if you’re short, because RC’s in charge. And at the end, when all the shorts and most of the option traders have given their money to GME, GME ends up with MOASS money in the bank and a book value driving a share price that will stay high for years (which is also the very worst punishment for any shorts who were dumb enough to hang on). Then when RC or any long term investor wants to divest in 10, 20, 30 years they can do that and get their tendies whenever they want. No need to time it, the infinity pool will be there for infinity. That’s my hypothesis.
How does a retail investor benefit during all this? Follow the money. Who’s got 38 million shares, very little diversification, and no apparent exit strategy?
TL;DR: Follow the money. RC has a lot of money invested long term in GME.

2024.05.19 17:16 Prottek G2 Romain shows their MSI scrim data and gives his thoughts

From G2 Romain Bigeard Twitter:
Photo 1
Photo 2
Of course we are disappointed. We thought our efforts finally cracked the code, that it was our time to win it all, that it was doable. Eliminating T1 would have been the incredible start of a glorious and legendary weekend. But those recent wins were only a few steps forward, to be reminded by Faker himself that we are not ready yet. Thank you for the humbling, fuck you for the loss, see you soon for the revenge.
We went all-in for this MSI, opting for a really intense schedule. As many scrims/games as possible, balanced with daily recovery (sport/meditation/1o1/breathing), healthy nutrition (long live brocolis), strict schedule (3 pushups/1min late) and lot of game-related blocks (soloQ/VOD/1v1/2v2). The boys showed excellent discipline and were fully committed to the adventure. We had this common belief that we were on a great mission, and it scaled pretty well. The goal was for everyone to stay healthy (mind and body) until the end, so we could deliver the hardest punchs when it mattered the most.
It started with a 10 days bootcamp, to get into the rythm, adapt to jetlag, food, cultural chock, level up soloQ accounts, content/press, adapt our Berlin processes.
Our first official encounter was a banger, and probably our most interesting BO5 despite the loss. We pushed T1 to game 5, a needed confirmation that we are not "just" good domestically after the Worlds23 traumatic experience. It gave us the boost needed to dive deeper into the competition.
The PSG game was a real challenge as everyone was giving us winners, a powerful external narrative which can lead to carelessness. Underestimating your opponent, even unconsciously, easily leads to elimination. I'm proud of the players for the focused attitude they brought to the serie.
The TES game was interesting. They did not offer us the fight we were expecting, so we ended up going full speed into a seemingly weakened opponent. Our botlane had a statement game and it was a joy to watch.
Friday's game versus T1 was a frustrating experience. Despite good drafts and early game leads, we could not snowball our advantages. They pressured us in surprising ways, clicking better in most teamfights, outplaying us on clutch moments. The World Champions showed up and we could not close a single game. It was their day. GGWP.
Those international events are invaluable in terms of learnings. We played as many Bo5 in 7 days as in 2 full splits of LEC. We scrimmed versus the best for weeks, learning from their strenghts while they were challenging ours. We played in front of thousands of people cheering for us.
We are now back in Europe. Proud of the boys, a great fellowship of fighters, it's a daily honor to build memories together. I want to praise my staff, as we have a crew of badass humans, and the job done by Dylan, Rodrigo, Duffman and Isma to keep the team honest and accountable is a pleasure to experience. They are masters at their craft and they're keeping the leveling up possible. Thanks to all our fans for their support. Your positives messages are seen. You guys make us feel special, so we will make you proud. Keep the hopium warm, we will get the trophy. A few more months of grinding. And when they land in Europe, when the time comes to defeat them in front of our people, we shall be ready.

2024.05.19 17:16 DaenerysMadQueen S8 events according to the consensus

S8 events according to the consensus
"In the space of a single, terrible day and night, all your fighting men were swallowed up by the earth, and the island of Atlantis likewise was swallowed up by the sea and disappeared." -Plato

Winterfell
The first episode of the final season begins, echoing the atmosphere of Robert Baratheon's arrival at Winterfell in the series' premiere. What a lazy screenwriting move for fan service. Jon discovers the secret about his mother and his heritage, in front of his father's crypt. Ned Stark's promise was fulfilled, a stroke of luck for D&D.
"You gave up your crown to save your people. Would she do the same ?"
https://preview.redd.it/ty7em5xhfd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=0805b98f56f68dd0afc88b28bf3bc3b4cb639eac
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Then comes episode 2, where the heroes discuss future stakes, preparing for the Long Night, and what comes after the battle if it happens. Jon reveals the secret to Daenerys, who doesn't seem pleased to hear it. In short, nothing happens in this episode, it's boring.
"All my life, I've known one goal: the Iron Throne. Taking it back from the people who destroyed my family, and almost destroyed yours. My war was against them. Until I met Jon. Now I'm here, half a world away, fighting Jon's war alongside him. Tell me, who manipulated whom ?"
https://preview.redd.it/2z99qqywgd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=a6b9c1889e4dbb53b15c9a27c81c83c4edfdf3c7
The Long Night
Finally, the famous battle of the Long Night. We just see the Dothraki charging with flaming swords into the darkness, and then nothing. Everything is dark. We can't see anything. Maybe Daenerys at some point tries to roast the Night King, but it's unclear. Everything is black, everything is darkness and gloom.
"- I'm going now.
- Go where ?"
https://preview.redd.it/3t64jmj1gd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=652abdf4a4074091b91976ace33da8b1a4d911bb
"Nymeria, it's me, Arya. I'm heading north, girl. Back to Winterfell, I'm finally going home."
The Last of the Starks
After the credits, Jon Snow is giving a heartfelt speech for the fallen in the battle. Since we didn't see anything I suppose they won, probably because Jon finally killed the Night King and they are celebrating, but Daenerys is visibly disappointed that Arya is the hero of Winterfell, and she's upset that Jon refuses to cuddle with her because of the secret. She doesn't want Jon to talk about the secret because she doesn't want people to know they're engaging in incestuous cuddles. I think.
"Even if the truth destroys us ?"
https://preview.redd.it/6qvracdcjd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=f50da19f55d66cf2c388752d71df673152780fc2
Anyway, it's very disappointing that the war against the zombies is already over; we should have had a whole season of the Long Night, in darkness and gloom, with an episode solely focused on strategy and the use of trebuchets. And then, when the heroes finally set out to take down Cersei, Daenerys falls into a lame, obvious, and avoidable ambush. Rhaegal dies stupidly, and Missandei is captured, then executed. Tyrion fails to save her, Cersei wins the final Lannister duel, and she angers the Dragon Queen enough to push her over the edge. In short, all of this was rushed and poorly written, nothing makes sense, I am shocked and angry. It's unfair. It's not right.
"If you want justice, you've come to the wrong place."
https://preview.redd.it/ua493n4cgd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d4937e7b8a327f11fc7fa094a84d227623b72a3
The Bells
https://preview.redd.it/3w4ate9tyd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=be32819c3eda6b9a7026bb2b300cf8abe22da9af
The penultimate episode of the series begins with a letter. Varys wants to inform that Jon is the heir to the throne; he betrays the queen. In mourning, with Tyrion, Daenerys only talks about the secret about Jon. It's the end, Act V of the play, the young tragic princess is lost, and the comedic archetype can't help her, it's too late, it doesn't matter now.
"- Yes, she trusts you. She trusted you to spread secrets that could destroy your own queen. And you did not let her down.
- If I have failed you, my queen, forgive me. Our intentions were good. We wanted what you want. A better world, all of us. Varys as much as anyone. But it doesn’t matter now.
- No. It doesn’t matter now."
An extremely poorly written dialogue, obviously, probably one of the worst-written dialogues in the history of theater, cinema, and television. In my opinion, far too convoluted and boring, far too tragic for a TV series.
https://preview.redd.it/uo5f4s43jd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=4757e00b2c3f01680bca09125dc998be02af7196
Then the Unsullied come to arrest Varys, and he is sentenced to death.
"The Supreme Lord said: I am mighty Time, the source of destruction that comes forth to annihilate the worlds. Even without your participation, the warriors arrayed in the opposing army shall cease to exist." -11.32 Bhagavad Gita
https://preview.redd.it/s11lnvojjd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d3c760dc6f0f263f6c2004855c67eb8f3819032
  • Cersei should have won the battle; she had the scorpions, the Iron Fleet, and the Golden Company, and it was the logical continuation from the end of episode 4. However, it's worth mentioning that she had no elephants, which undoubtedly tipped the battle in favor of Daenerys and her dragon.
"I am not your little princess. I am Daenerys Stormborn of the blood of Old Valyria, and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood, I will take it."
  • Daenerys goes mad in two seconds. She has defeated Cersei, the bells signal the end of the battle, she must decide how to deal with the final obstacle, the last step before the throne. So she kills the people who love Jon Snow and who don't love her, all because she wants to secretly kiss Jon. All these seasons, adventures, battles, endless moral dilemmas over ten years, all for it to end with a simple tragic love triangle. Truly, probably the worst episode of the saga and of history, so rushed and poorly written; everyone knows that characters must go mad talking to themselves in front of a mirror, not silently in a realistic and brutal way, otherwise the viewer is confused and lost outside their comfort zone.
"I don't want to be his queen. I want to go home."
https://preview.redd.it/zmehvnu0md1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=d1fe51dec443496ded16e9ac3e15c7a812be39f0
"The things I do for love."
  • Jaime reuniting with Cersei is probably the worst conclusion for these two characters. The writers clearly didn’t understand their own story. Jaime's arc was about redemption, like Theon, exactly the same. The fact that Brienne fills the White Book of the Kingsguard with the line "Died protecting his queen." the most honorable death for a Kingsguard commander, doesn't matter, it's fanservice, lazy writing. Jaime should have stayed in the North and made baby Jaimes with Brienne. Jaime was supposed to save the world, not save Cersei. It's so sad; they only think about themselves and their children, Jaime and Cersei, nothing else matters.
"Nothing else matters. Only us."
https://preview.redd.it/v9z7c47ekd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b1234cd9bab5380176c292c380ab375b83ee9c0
"When you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die. There is no middle ground."
  • Jon is useless; he can't do anything, and yet, all this chaos is his fault too. Daenerys had told him not to tell others his secret. Jon understands nothing, he knows nothing, and so do we, immersed in the chaos and ignorance along with the inhabitants of King's Landing. It should have been an epic and glorious battle. War must be epic and glorious. We wanted epic, glorious fire and blood, not fire bloody and burning blood. It should have been a spectacle, not a terrible massacre. Is war despicable and out of control ? We wanted elephants, not dead children.
"It's your choice."
https://preview.redd.it/wjp0lq1pkd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4cceb3ac14c2ee57f0b30ab2c5cbf623f2758de
"You know what’s wrong with honor ?"
  • Euron Greyjoy is unbearable, as usual. It's as if they designed this character specifically to annoy us. He has no place in this story; he's just obnoxious. He destroyed Daenerys and Jaime, and he didn't deserve that honor. He's far too arrogant and not funny at all.
"If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
https://preview.redd.it/lrs1bxftkd1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=b310d8131ca0607b5e54c47d90ed8ce580f4afe3
"Fire !"
  • The fight between The Hound and The Mountain is great. Finally, something perfect in this episode. The Frankenstein's monster rebelling and destroying his creator in a fit of rage, Sandor Clegane finally getting his revenge, Cersei walking by indifferently. It was epic, glorious, and hilarious. There's even light breaking through the crumbling wall at the end, showing the way out and the solution for Sandor, just like in a Zelda game. Very straightforward, no questions left unanswered, no mystery.
"Sandor. Thank you."
https://preview.redd.it/i7c44r95ld1d1.jpg?width=3733&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e8e7bb5d1dc502a5bdbe44f7d5bca5b1946c78c
"Go home, girl."
  • Arya overuses the hero's shield in this episode. She says goodbye to Clegane, who tells her to go home, and then the apocalypse descends on her. She gets hit by falling debris in the streets, trampled by the crowd, the bell tower collapses on her... yet she gets up each time after a black screen and the sound of a cannon. She's just meters away from the devastation and the dragon's fire, close to the terrified and helpless citizens like her, and despite the piercing, chilling violins of death, she rises again, amid the embers and ruins. The little girl and her mother are burned, turned into statues of ash breaking in the wind, while Arya and a mysterious white horse survive the end times and emerge from hell together. Unless Arya is a cat with nine lives, all of this is just plot armor, it makes no sense.
"There is only one god and his name is Death, and there is only one thing we say to Death: 'Not today.'"

"There's plenty of pious sons of bitches who think they know the word of god or gods. I don’t. I don’t even know their real names. Maybe it is the Seven. Or maybe it’s the old gods. Or maybe it’s the Lord of Light. Or maybe they’re all the same fucking thing. I don’t know. What matters, I believe, is that there’s something greater than us."

The last episode, after the bells. So this is how it ends. Daenerys has triumphed, Tyrion has realized his mistake, is imprisoned again, and makes Jon understand in one final conversation that he must choose, between his sisters and Dany, between the Starks and the Targaryens, between love and duty. It's all so tragic. Daenerys finally came home, the legend has triumphed, the dream has become reality. And then the prince steps forward, still plagued by doubt, imploring the young princess to cease her quest for power, to forgive. And Dany's words have meaning, echoing those Tyrion spoke to Jon. The fallen hero then understands that he cannot save both the world and the princess. The long tirades echo high in the halls of the kings who are gone, and the fallen hero murders his lover, not out of ambition for the throne, not out of anger or vengeance, but out of love for his sisters and the people. The tyrant is dead, sadly concluding the dramatic journey of a young innocent orphan that no hero could manage to save.
"When I was a girl, my brother told me it was made with one thousand swords from Aegon's fallen enemies. What do one thousand look like in the mind of a little girl who can't count to twenty ? I imagined a mountain of swords too high to climb. So many fallen enemies, you could only see the soles of Aegon's feet."
https://preview.redd.it/vi818cdw0e1d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4732894d0f9b43b9bae3629cc102fb25abfda69
Jon left the throne empty, accepting his judgment and the punishment of the dragon. Thus were extinguished the last Targaryens, in front of the object of all conflicts, high under the sky, above mortals, together. But Jon has a hero's shield too, so I imagine there's a chip scratching Drogon behind a wing, and thus he misses his shot and destroys the walls. And then the chip jumps onto the throne, so Drogon destroys the throne and the chip but he was too tired for Jon afterwards. Such lazy writing, utterly senseless, just for the symbolism of the dragon destroying the throne, the object of all the passions and dramas of this world, a satire of power and conclusion of the story.
"I told you it's difficult to explain."
Obvious fanservice, nothing complex or mysterious. But we don't know where Drogon is taking Daenerys, she has no mortal tomb. The mystery completes the legend, this girl was a shooting star until the end.
"I have been sold like a broodmare. I’ve been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile ? Faith. Not in any gods, not in myths and legends, in myself. In Daenerys Targaryen."

And to conclude, the council scene, a calm yet very rushed and poorly written moment, as everyone knows. It's certainly officially announced by professionals somewhere. Once again, the creators understood nothing about the story and the audience's expectations.
Nothing funny, nothing complicated, nothing secretive, but the worst part is Bran's choice, it's not good, it's illegal, he cheated.
Then the beautiful visuals, the surviving Starks, and Ramin Djawadi's magnificent music for the last five minutes and the final credits, pure happy ending, pure fanservice, it's an absolute failure, the worst series finale in history, it's obviously a dox..., sorry, a well-known consensus. It's all a mix of fan service, bad writing, and being rushed, extremely well-balanced. GRRM would certainly have wanted at least three more seasons to properly tell the final scene between Jon and Daenerys.
So much wasted potential, D&D sacrificed the ending of the greatest series in history for Star Wars contracts they didn't even get. It's a scandal. Thankfully, no one talks about GoT anymore since that ending, except to reminisce about the golden age of season 4 and the seasons before.
Everyone agrees, it's a fact. It is known. GoT's ending is a beautiful disaster.
...
"- It's a long story.
- If only we were trapped in a castle in the middle of winter with nowhere to go..."

...
"Be with me. Build the new world with me. This is our reason. It has been from the beginning since you were a little boy with a bastard's name and I was a little girl who couldn't count to twenty.
We do it together. We break the wheel together."

2024.05.19 17:15 b3ararms Looking for feedback on 1440p build

Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)
Yes
What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
1440p gaming (144/165Hz), productivity, occasional video editing/Twitch streaming, image editing with Lightroom/Photoshop, Plex server. Productivity includes general web browsing, some programming, network simulation with gns3/eve-ng. Primary use will likely be gaming though
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
1440p at 144Hz would be ideal, but a stable 60fps at 1440p is the minimum I'd like to have (my monitor can do 165Hz but only via DisplayPort, my current PC is connected via HDMI as the DisplayPort is being used by a second PC) As far as games I'll be playing - Apex Legends and Deep Rock Galactic are my two main games. However, I'm planning on purchasing Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Doom Eternal, and Returnal. Perhaps BF2042 during the next sale
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
Roughly $1500 but can go a bit higher if necessary
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
USA
Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

2024.05.19 17:13 SatinMatthy BeamNG Career Ideas

The player could start in their parents' garage with a beater. The small garage would mean limited space for more vehicles and little in terms of customizability unless you pay extra for someone else to do it. Then you could buy additional garages to increase storage and tools and later a workshop to extend the customizeability. Maybe you could start a business in transport, a workshop or a race team.
This could work really well with multiplayer.
For the race team you could have people joining your team to gain experience to then start their own team later down the line. If your driver damages a car you could have it repaired by the team you hired (possibly from a workshop business) with spare parts you bought beforehand (which could be delivered by the transport businesses).
A workshop business set up by a lategame player could be contracted by another to modify their cars early game. The prices could be set by the former but set prices for parts and competition would make a balance in pricing. Maybe if either player owns a transport company they could sort parts for cheaper?
The transport businesses would be integrated to work with the needs and orders of other players/AI businesses so that players could really interact with each other instead of the game just giving things to them. Transport businesses would be able to source parts or goods for cheaper and could set a price for the delivery with AI or other established businesses for competition (for something to keep the prices in check).
If the server doesn't have such businesses established by players yet the game would add AI powered ones to supplement them. The incentive for players to set up their own businesses could come from the profits they bring and the incentive for other players to utilize player businesses over AI ones would come from lower prices by player businesses to compete with the AI or other player businesses.
Of course setting up a business would have startup costs/requirements such as owning a land with a facility, workshop etc. They would also have running costs much like the current insurance payments in career mode.
In the early game players could earn money by contracting with businesses to do deliveries, races and other stuff. This could be a way for player businesses to source employees on top of AI workers.
Sidenote: this could complicate things quite a bit but implementing a car mechanic mode would be awesome and would also give player workers to the workshops instead of just an imaginary AI to pay and a wait screen or such. This could also serve as the early game (or even lategame for very custom stuff) car modification until the player getsa shop/tools or earns enough money to outsource it.
This would make for a really immersive simulator experience. Maybe even a definitive one if you keep adding different businesses like farming or foods for example.
It would take a lot of time to develop but you could do it in the usual updates (barring multiplayer for now) keeping it to just one business an update and you could build the infrastructure for the multiplayer before implementing it.
Maybe the devs have already thought of some of these but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there!
Thank you for reading this and hopefully I gave some ideas to the devs or talented modders out there!

2024.05.19 17:12 Revlar Should Magic progression have a price tag instead of/as an alternative to a karma cost?

Bear with me while I explain where I'm coming from.
The context for this question comes mostly from reading arguments about the role of Essence in the setting and the way Magic is fundamentally a "birthright" to special insight about the way the universe works and the power to interact with it. Now, I personally love that as part of the setting, but what I don't love is how the setting seems to shy away from giving it the Cyberpunk treatment. Yes, Mages are employed by corporations and all corporations want them, but the setting portrays Magic as something that's fundamentally uncontrollable by the corporations. It can pop up anywhere and give anyone the power to ruin their plans. It's a bright spot in the setting, but by dint of that it leaves me with an odd feeling.
This is meant to be speculative fiction to a large extent, and it feels like the speculation there doesn't go far enough. The main culprit, in my eyes, is the MAG score and the role of Initiation.
We all know a higher MAG score is better, and Initiation, the only method to increase it, is usually something you can't do during character generation. It's something left out for the sake of progression and tied directly to karma, which makes its actual cost nebulous. Karma doesn't have a clear material presence in the setting; It exists as a game mechanic exclusively. This creates a strange situation, where, for example, a Mage born with a MAG score of 1 can increase their MAG score by spending Karma up to the limit of their Essence, but that karma doesn't translate to any particular thing that enables that growth. It just happens.
What I want to posit is an alternative to that: A way for Awakened characters to buy up their MAG score with nuyen and to perform Initiation in the same way. I picture it as the cost of reagents and awakened plants or animal parts with high Availability required to increase one's power and control, maybe even to pay an Alchemist to turn this into a pill like in Chinese Xianxia, or to perform treatments. Using these things, Mages would grow stronger in quantifiable ways.
I feel like it would add to the setting in several key ways:
