I was away from the site a few months ago and now that I'm back, I wanted to customize my main userlookup and my sides. Do you have any tips on links with CSS and HTML? Thanks!

I wrote most of this as a comment in another post, but I wanted to expand on it and make the case for NOT linking (main site) accounts together and just merging them instead.
I really want to get rid of the entire concept of side accounts altogether. The entire concept is outdated, confusing as hell, and dangerously inaccessible to new players because there is nothing on the Neopets site ever spelling it out in a simple way. If you haven't been around for 10-20 years and been updated on Editorial answers spanning the decades and don't check various fansites, how are you supposed to know any of the asinine and highly specific rules around sides? It's ridiculous.
The entire reason sides were a thing to begin with was to get around the original 4 pet per account limit. There's not much to do on sides other than what directly relates to your pets (customisation, labbing, BC, etc). Since they've proven they can increase pet per accounts pretty easily, they can and should just retire the entire concept of sides.
This would require two main things, both of which are complicated, but I think they're honestly way easier than dealing with having to program tons of new functionality to do things across linked accounts (like a shared closet, NC pool, etc), not to mention still having to explain the whole concept to newcomers.
The two main things are:

• Fix issues and improve UI related to having a bunch of pets, primarily lag when the site wants to load all of your pets into a terrible side scroll thing. This is the easier of the two and TNT has already acknowledged it as a thing that needs improvement before increasing pet limits again.
  
  • Better caching for pet images and just having a dang dropdown in many areas would go a long way, imo. If going the dropdown route, adding confirmation dialogues to areas like the Lab Ray is a must. Alternatively, load the image of the pet once they're selected, like the Rainbow Fountain. (Though confirmation dialogue probably still a good idea.)
  • Being able to group pets into folders and then set a folder as "active" and only have the active folder of pets load in places where it asks you to select a pet is another option. Lots of ways to make having a ton of pets on one account less burdensome.
• Merge accounts. This is the big one. I don't know how Neo's database is set up, but it seems to me a one-time merging of accounts would be a way easier process to set up than building out infrasctructure to link accounts together and have players be able to do things between those linked accounts. Re-assigning account assets to a different username value is simple, even if you have to do it a million times for every asset.
  
  • Allow users to select up to 5 accounts to merge once. There should be some flag set in the database to identify merged accounts. Merged accounts cannot be merged again.
  • The max pet limit on a merged account is 5x an unmerged account.
  • Merging consolidates all items, all trophies, all avatars, all site themes, etc. Age of the merged account is the oldest of the lot.
  • Allow the user to select either one of the source accounts names to be the final merged account name or let them choose any unused username. The usernames of the source accounts cannot be recreated.
  • Minimum daily lab zaps equal to however many total labs you have across merging accounts. So if 5/5 of the accounts you're merging have a lab ray, you get a minimum of 5 zaps per day.
  • All newly created accounts after a certain date should be flagged as "merged" by default (so new players don't have to deal with this crap).

Neopets probably still has to build out some version of their NeoPass concept since they're hellbent on creating games other than the main one, but I feel like the "amount" of linking needed between a mobile game and the main site is minimal. You really just need a way to do a basic account association so the mobile game can reward the main site account with NP, items, and avatars.
(Maybe they will eventually want to be more complicated stuff, like having plot tie-ins between the games and maybe defeating a boss in the mobile game triggers something happening on the site, but I feel like this is too complicated for a first pass on the NeoPass feature.)
Meanwhile, I have hated needing to switch between accounts for 20 years, and being able to switch between accounts faster isn't what I want. I just want all my pets in the same place!!
I understand that some players have very specific themed sides and like to have different userlookups/etc for them, but I feel like this can be accomplished on a single account with pet groups or something. Let people arrange pets in whatever order they want, put them in groups, whatever. Maybe even?? Update userlookups to have more modern and sophisticated CSS so that it's easier to do more with userlookup themes!
Lots of ways to improve the single account life. Please let's just get rid of the weird old sanctioned multiple account complexity borne out of the site limitations of 20 years ago. :')

Hi all,
I am finally for the first time aiming to clean up my user lookup to a more professional look after years of the original lookup. However I am having a bit of an issue with coding this with CSS, in particular, getting the icons (particularly in collections/gallery/shop) and trophies to appear :(
The code is adapted from Whitespace's minimalist code, but I have no idea what is hiding the icons/trophies pictures. Please can anyone that's great with coding help a poor noob out :(

EDIT: okay I have fixed some of the icons by googling around and adding table table tr td a img { visibility: hidden; } to the #usertrophies etc.., but now I want the Userinfo icon to be removed.. :/ arghhh.
EDIT2: Okay solved it!! has to do with the order of the #usertrophies etc is called and changed .

There is one in particular I really liked.
Petlookup: There was one called MERCURY: RETROGRADE by kyta - Which I really liked, but it doesn't seem to work on current build of neopets. It had it so that when you hovered over your neopet; it showed artwork of your choice. And I thought that was such a good idea.

As for userlookups... I've not found one in particular I really like. Ideally I'd like one for art display purposes, but one that clearly shows collectables like trophies and ideally round neopets icons.

Hi! Working on my userlookup ( Neopets - User Lookup ) & currently struggling to get the nav bar dropdown & side account links to work; I believe the dropdown is currently either not displaying at all, or is displaying BEHIND my background somehow, and the side account links are simply not working, though the images are displaying correctly.
It seems that in making my nav bar display in front of the anchored header by use of z-index: 1, it's made the dropdown stop working. I've tried adding z-index: 2 to ul.dropdown, ul.dropdown a, and ul.dropdown a:hover, but no luck.
