2024.05.29 06:51 Joewoof What if Unlimited SaGa is Remade in the style of Emerald Beyond?

I've been playing Emerald Beyond for a while now, and lately, something strange has been happening. I keep seeing visions and images of what a remake of Unlimited SaGa might be today, rebuilt into the same style and structure as Emerald Beyond.
Exploration
It seems like such a perfect fit. You freely run around flat, storybook-like dungeons with pop-ups that you can interact with. Depending on the order of things you do, events unfold differently instead of using a time limit. Emerald Beyond's worlds already feel dungeon-like, and a potential Unlimited SaGa remake could be the same without losing the original feel of the game. They could use their same Unity engine for the remake, and it would work fine.
Battle System: Timeline
In such a remake, I think it's best to do something like Minstrel Song where the original game systems are overhauled while retaining the original concept.
What if a revised battle system for Unlimited SaGa is yet another variation of Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond? The timeline is already there in Unlimited SaGa. In fact, Emerald Beyond's combo system very closely matches Unlimited SaGa. Characters with similar speeds next to each other can combo, but if a monster is wedged in the timeline between those characters, the combo will be broken. It's the same idea, just much more visible and interactive in Emerald Beyond. The remake can just adopt Emerald Beyond's combo system wholesale and it would feel right. What would be different is Unlimited SaGa's party swapping and skill ecosystem.
Battle System: Party Swapping & Healing
Unlimited SaGa is the only game that gives you access to your entire roster of characters in the same fight. This ties into its healing system, where inactive characters restore health. This mechanic alone adds an incredible amount of complexity by itself, since it expands your available options ten-fold and gives purpose to making sure your entire roster is fully-geared. This alone is where Unlimited SaGa shines the most, as nothing quite matches the level of attrition battles become, and it's as exciting as it is terrifying. The only problem is that this health restoration needs to be much more visible, with a big "+120HP" (for example) pop-up every turn for inactive characters.
Battle System: HP/LP and Skills
The biggest drawback of Unlimited SaGa is how invisible and confusing a lot of its mechanics are. The "third pillar" of its battle system suffers from the same problem, and that is its HP/LP system and how weapon arts interact with it. While it is definitely interesting, I think this part of the battle system should be scrapped altogether and replaced with Emerald Beyond's ecosystem.
That means, instead of arts being balanced around speed, accuracy, HP damage and LP damage potential, the LP part would be swapped out with BP cost. It would be a significant change, where HP cost would be gone, HP recovery would be gone as well, replaced with a BP system that regenerates for inactive characters. BP would be per-character instead of shared.
This system would still fit with Unlimited SaGa's focus on heavy and light weapons/arts. Instead of heavy weapons/attacks dealing more HP damage and lighter ones dealing more LP damage, heavy weapons would cost more BP while light weapons would be cheaper and more BP-cost-efficient. This would switch the roles of heavy/light weapons for normal/boss battles, but it would make more intuitive sense. You would also be able to apply strategies like keeping one character in the backline as an "artillery-style glass cannon" that only appears at the end of battle to do that massive, high-BP move.
The Reels
While these were interesting for reinforcing that tabletop gameplay concept, I think it's too controversial to be left intact. I'm fine with it personally, but what I dislike is that it takes attention away from other, less-flashy-but-brilliant ideas like the party-swapping/healing system.
The Shape
Scarlet Grace uses a lot of circles. Emerald Beyond uses a lot of triangles and diamonds. Unlimited SaGa already has its growth panels that are hexagons. So, hexagons would be the main UI theme for a potential remake, I would say. It fits and stays true to the game.
Closing Thoughts
I always feel that Unlimited SaGa never got a fair chance and deserves a remaster with built-in guides to fix its reputation. However, a brand new game in the same vein as Minstrel Song that simply takes inspiration from its predecessor would be amazing as well. Same characters, same unique, ethereal, mystical vibe of a misty world beneath the Seven Wonders, but "back-propagating" newer innovations and lessons learned back to rejuvenate the old product.
Before now, the idea of a full-on Unlimited SaGa remake felt a bit out-of-grasp. With two big games now that are table-top style, not to mention other similar titles like Voice of Cards and Dungeon Encounters, the world seems primed for a remake of this game like never before.
Something like Unlimited SaGa: Prismatic Wonders. A sequel to Emerald Beyond as well as a throwback to the most underrated mainline SaGa in the series.

2024.05.29 06:48 drnareshkrgarg Brain tumor - Symptoms and causes

Symptoms
The symptoms of a brain tumor can vary significantly depending on the tumor's size, location, and growth rate. Common symptoms include:
Headaches:
Frequent or severe headaches that may worsen with activity or in the early morning.
Seizures:
New onset of seizures in someone with no history of seizures.
Different types of seizures such as focal (partial) seizures or generalized seizures.
Cognitive or Personality Changes:
Memory problems.
Difficulty in concentration or making decisions.
Changes in personality or behavior.
Motor Problems:
Weakness or numbness in the limbs or face, often on one side of the body.
Difficulty with balance or coordination.
Sensory Changes:
Vision problems such as double vision, loss of peripheral vision, or partial/complete vision loss.
Hearing problems or loss of hearing.
Speech and Language Issues:
Difficulty in speaking or understanding speech.
Nausea and Vomiting:
Often related to increased intracranial pressure.
Other Symptoms:
Fatigue and drowsiness.
Hormonal (endocrine) disorders, which could be due to a tumor near the pituitary gland.
Causes
The exact cause of brain tumors is not always clear, but several factors can contribute to their development:
Genetic Factors:
Family history of brain tumors.
Genetic mutations or conditions (e.g., Neurofibromatosis, Li-Fraumeni syndrome, Turcot syndrome).
Exposure to Radiation:
Previous exposure to ionizing radiation (such as from radiation therapy for another condition).
Immune System Disorders:
Conditions that weaken the immune system can increase the risk of certain brain tumors (e.g., Primary CNS lymphoma).
Environmental Factors:
Possible links to exposure to certain chemicals or industrial pollutants, although more research is needed.
Age and Gender:
Certain types of brain tumors are more common in specific age groups or genders. For example, gliomas are more common in adults, while medulloblastomas are more common in children.
Previous Cancer Diagnosis:
Individuals who have had cancer elsewhere in the body can develop secondary (metastatic) brain tumors.
Types of Brain Tumors
Brain tumors can be classified as:
Primary Brain Tumors:
Originate in the brain.
Can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
Examples: Gliomas, Meningiomas, Schwannomas, Pituitary tumors.
Secondary (Metastatic) Brain Tumors:
Spread to the brain from cancers originating in other parts of the body.
More common than primary brain tumors.
Conclusion
Brain tumors can manifest through a wide array of symptoms and have diverse causes, ranging from genetic factors to environmental exposures. Early detection and accurate diagnosis are crucial for effective treatment and management. If you experience persistent or unusual symptoms, it's important to seek medical attention for a thorough evaluation.

2024.05.29 06:47 featherwinglove Tightniks Run Two: ...where the concept of *furnaces doesn't exist...

[Let me know if a chapter a week is okay; I'm thinking it might be a bit too often. Run Zero: https://redd.it/1csb71x Run One: https://redd.it/1cwxbsg]
The mining foreman refused to go to sleep, and watched intently as Tightniks finally reached over and set it home with one hand. Its last nervous little sigh was the only thing he remembered-
The ship is without power, and Tightniks can't run the radar much without draining the batteries...
32s: First trap.
He built it big this time, and there are six trimps in there. They look familiar somehow, the light one with dark hair and an unusually short and broad tail compared to the rest, a big-eared green one, a grey one, a yellow one, and a red one with big paws and "XIII" on its rump, and a brown one with pink ears that takes the lead and cheers, "Kakka!" Once he lets them out, they all follow him intently around like just-hatched birds do their mother. He shows them the busted off cockpit and forward cabin of the ship he just crashed and they get inside and start da- ...nope, sticking with "dancing". He busies himself looking for the survival pad.
Until he hears the squeak of a baby trimp. They're feeding it- ...rocks. Carefully selected, aluminate rocks. What the heck are they doing? Whatever, I've got to get some conventional food for- What's that? He's got the survival pad already, but this was outside the ship, it must have materialized when he descended through that glowing grey mist getting out. He gets it flipped over and turned on.
"Manual portal activation 2 successful:" it displays, "rare shield equipped 54%Stg 14%Atk MT 0 Nu loaded / 399 He loaded / Metal challenge active / Total portal activation 956"
Metal challenge? The human selects it.
"You have the Metal challenge active. Tweak the portal to bring you to an alternate reality, where the concept of Miners does not exist, to force yourself to become frugal with equipment crafting strategies. If you complete The Dimension Of Anger without disabling the challenge, miners will re-unlock."
He's so confused, What the Loy is a Dimension of Anger? I think I have a headache from this high gravity. Sits down for a moment.
Notices that one of the trimps is sleeping in a small deep hole just at the edge of the garden, apparently to have a nap in standing upright.
I don't believe you, "portal". I'm training that one first chance I get!
56s: Pop full.
There are ten of them already?? I'm still working this derpy little potato patch to get enough food to bulk up just ONE of the- He looks at the portal pad and blurts out loud, "Fifty-six SECONDS??" He postulates that he's in a time-dilated environment, and that the portal is measuring time somewhere "out there", this "map frame" environment. It's like those Star Trek episodes he can't remember "Wink of an Eye" and "Blink of an Eye" that he can't quite remember. [One of them is Star Trek TOS, and one of them is Star Trek: Voyager and I forget which one came from where.]
1m57s: Arable in Z1c13.
The human walks along and one of the trimps viciously fights the various hostiles that try to come at him, staying ahead. Just behind, he finds that hole-digger busted into a cave big enough for 9 of them, and they start raising babies to fill it up.
3m37s: Miners in Z1c30.
It's broken! he notices of the data card he just picked up. It's one of the ones that flew out of the ship when he undogged the ship's side hatch, but it didn't survive. What was on it? He's got a vague memory of a big tanuki-tailed trimp, much bigger than the- Wait! This memory is of hole-digger all grown up. So this is- he looks at the smashed data card in his hand, ...this is the Miners card. At least there's some lying about so we're not totally deprived of metal.
That's odd. I'm sure I spent longer training this little guy than "one second map frame." The human looks at the black trimp with the grey head fur and silvery eyes, "So, can you say something yet?"
"Shijou." [Takane and Takanya are not black, it is their favorite clothing color.]
"Okay, can you say something else?"
9m12s: Zone 1, 40 pop, 3.5s RC with Z0/1, 13m19s turkimp. 12m55s: First scientist.
"Tai," his first scientist waves at him.
"Hmm," the human tries to think of a better test, "What color is the sky?"
"Shijou." The exasperated human is about to sigh in despair when he notices a card in its hands, with one word on it, "Blue."
"What?" he takes it, "You can't speak but you can write, huh?"
"Shijou," it twirls its paw off the end of the card in his hand. The human turns it over, and in small writing, it has "Technically, the sky isn't blue, it's a foible of Rayleigh scattering in an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere. And you have 'TIGHTNIKS' embroidered on the left side of your uniform."
A look of astonishment sweeps over the human. I never taught it about Rayleigh scattering. Apparently, the scientist training has unlocked its brain to access the collected knowledge of a previous life! Then he looks at his uniform and groans, spanking his eyebrows in realization. The trimp had apparently noticed him wandering around the camp wracking his brain and talking to himself trying to remember his own name, and it's right there the whole time! He spanks his eyebrows again.
The very well fed grey-headed trimp starts doing experiments, leaving him to take the turkimp back to his farmers. Too bad it's only a quarter as fast at it as he is.
32m25s: Zone 3, 79 pop, 4.5s RC with Z1/2; c16, 79 pop, 6.8s RC with Z2/3.
"Nano! Nano, nano, nano." The D&B (that's dodge and block) foreman has an impressive yellow mane, light face, green body, and brown hind limbs, and moves like a blur when it decides to. When asleep, it's as unarousable as an exhumed fossil, except with the food article Yellow the scientist calls an "owny geary". [Puchim@s Afuu]
Helping it out is a brown-maned white trenching expert Tightniks finds oddly familiar. It has no problem mining, but couldn't start a fire if its life depended on it, so smelting is out of the question.
I guess that's how the Metal challenge really works. Too bad I suck at it. Tightniks is spending all his smelting time smacking out nails and joist hangers for the houses, and has nothing left for fighting gear.
1h53m25s: Zone 9, 306 pop, 7.9s RC with Z8/15, no turkimp.
The white trimp with the brown head fur- ...whichever one it is because it, or one that looks just like it, sometimes (apparently) burns itself up or blows itself up trying to build a metallurgical furnace. This one is digging a hole right now, into the concrete of some ruined building's foundation. It hits some strapping and rebar, makes a happy sound, follows it along and gets it sorta clear of the concrete bonded to it, and rips it out of the ground to throw on the metal pile. It now seems content to do that instead of trying to smelt ores.
"Red?" Tightniks glances at one of his scientists, "Do you think we could take it to- What's that place you said you visited five hundred years after some misty fight or-"
"Cloudy strife," it says, "Yeah, Midgimp is like that, we could probably map a route through there. Lots of metal. Especially the part that had an avalanche happen and fell down. Broke all that stuff out of the ground already." [Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children cinematic and Sector 7 collapse.]
"Okay," Tightniks says, "Let's do that."
5h32m02s: Zone 21, 2042 pop, 14.9s RC with Z20/232, no turkimp.
"Ooooookay," Tightniks growls, "There is something off about this thing."
"Shijou?" the grey one looks at the yellow one with concern about their human starship pilot friend.
The human stoops, picks up the little green gem on the ridge between Zone 20 and 21, looks at it, huffs, and asks, "Any idea where this comes from?"
"Err..." the red one seems hesitant to say, "I think you made it."
"Really?" the human huffs, "How could that be?" Then he tosses it at Red, "See if anything reacts to it. It might be radioactive, so we should take turns to minimize exposure."
"Really?" Red's holding it now, "What makes you say that?"
"Because I'm pissed off for no reason I can figure out," the human says, "I think it's coming from-" he gasps, "Waitamint!" He starts searching for the portal pad.
"Frags," the red one says quickly, "I think it's arranging a route. You're good with maps," it tosses the gem to the grey scientist.
The human has his portal pad up and reads aloud, "You have the Metal challenge active. Tweak the portal to- yada yada yada. Tiss tiss t- complete The Dimension Of Anger without disabling- miners will re-unlock."
\BOOM\** They turn to see (another of) the white brown-haired trimp'/s' attempts at a metallurgical furnace explode, and it seems both very frustrated and has really hurt its toe.
He snaps his fingers, "That's gotta be it. Although, does it mean 'miners' or 'furnaces'?" He re-reads the portal pad while the scientists shrug.
"Shijou," the grey one has just finished tracing the route map the gem was showing.
"Are we going any faster than on previous cycles, you think?" he asks Red.
"What's a cycle?" Red asks.
"We're stuck in time loop, you realize?" the human says.
"Well," the yellow one jumps off a little rock spire it was using to see farther ahead, directly into a seated position on the ground with an impressive thump the human can both hear with his ears and feel through the ground of the more-than-Earth gravity planet, "that explains a few things." The little scientist trimp seems quite morose at the news.
"This thing says the fastest we've ever got this 'anger' map done is ten hours, thirty-five, but the clock right now is at five hours, thirty-four." Tightniks tilts his head, frowns one eyebrow, and taps, "Getting it done faster increases attack damage somehow, and oh-"
"What now?" the yellow one asks, still seated beside the spire.
"It says we already got a 2.5%-er for having a million traps," the human says, "I don't remember doing that. Maybe..." he sighs, "Maybe that's a good thing, 'cus I'd probably go insane building them all. Still though, it says we're going faster, but it doesn't feel like it."
"How'd you know how it feels," Red asks, "if you don't remember it?"
"'Day jaw voo' I think is the term," the human says, "or something. The sense that all this has happened before, but I'm not quite remembering and there's no physical evidence of it."
"Shijooooooooooo..." the grey one moans, waving a card at him. On it:
"In order, but we don't know if that means chronological order or frequency/proportion of memories:
"- The ship crashes (pretty sure that happens every time) "- The human builds huts "- The human teaches some trimps to speak and do science "- The human builds houses "- The human makes maps "- The human builds mansions "- The human blows up and gets himself killed somewhere around Z17 to Z21, often on a dragimp "- The human only recently/occasionally builds hotels "- The human only recently/rarely tamed a dragimp "- The human only recently/rarely mapped the Dimension of Anger"
Tightniks sits down and offers it back.
"Tai," it flatly refuses to take it back, paws up and eyes closed.
"It's kind of a relief," Tightniks rubs his temples, then looks at it again, "knowing it ain't just me."
6h17m43s: Portal PB, 1% AP for sub-8h, 45 He, 7.149 He/hr, 2209 pop, 13.6s RC.
The last head of the map's boss monster goes limp as one of the fighting trimps' dagger points goes into it, and the huge thing settles on its tail, resting on the package that seems to be the prize of this map. And there's a popping sound, and then something mechanical.
Is that a scroll compressor? Tightniks looks at the package. The deflating monster's lifting envelope material drapes over everything underneath it. "Yellow, Shijou!" he snaps and points, "roll up that side of it. Keep this part from sucking down on the extractor nozzle!"
All ten of the scientists jump in, literally, pushing the gas in the bag towards the compressor. Tightniks as well, rolling up the front.
Until he kicks, and nearly trips over, a smaller package that might be the explanation for the reason why the center of the monster's defense seemed to be a little away from the big package he could see. It's in the right place, he realizes. He gets it uncovered and reads stenciled-and-sprayed block letters on it:
"DT TIME PORTAL / THIS SIDE DOWN"
Perhaps the Dimension of Anger is so named because of the rage suddenly rising up in Tightniks' throat. It isn't so much as the free-floating aggression suddenly has an answer, there is definitely a fresh batch of rage and anger as he grips the nearest Dagger V, Mark 2 with both hands-
Refocusing on surviving the next few seconds, the pilot turns on the radar for the final approach and takes a last look around, then straight ahead at his forward camera and primary flight display...
He crouches, sets the dagger down gently, then starts clearing the debris from the box's grab iron. He tries to lift it- Damn, this is heavy! As he gets it turned over, gravity finishes the job, and it shakes the ground with an impressive thud as it falls right side up.
"DT TIME PORTAL / THIS SIDE UP" There's a square cutout in the middle of one side of it, with a sliding cover at the bottom of it.
"Get the pad!" he screams, seeing that his scientists are almost done rolling up the megablimp.
The grey one already has the survival data pad and offers it to him.
"The big one," Tightniks clarifies, "The big one." he picks up wide flat rainbow cable and its edge socket in one hand, "It goes here," he points at it with the other. "It must have come with me-" He had taken the small survival data pad and notices something, "Oh?" He starts looking around, "Hey!"
The white trimp with the brown hair is napping in a hole next to the smouldering remains of its latest attempt at a smelting furnace.
"Hey, mining buddy!" he whistles at it, "Mining buddy!"
It wakes with a start and rushes over, but doesn't seem to be in a good mood. But as soon as Tightnik shows it the survival pad, with all of the mining data installed just as if all those broken data cards and scorched scrolls were intact when he found them, fireworks goes off in the little trimp's eyes and it rushes off with the pad. Within minutes, the first furnace that works is chugging away at some ore and it returns to give the survival data pad back to Tightniks.
7h24m49s: Fresh turkimp; 7h25m30s: Labor reallocated.
The big-eared green lumber foreman's mood fell much further than the mining foreman's mood was before Tightniks packed up the turkimp roaster and moved just about everyone over to the smeltery.
The brown-haired, big-tailed white mining foreman was surprised at the change, and very happy. It had climbed up onto the helium compressor cart to check something on the pad a couple cells into the zone.
"Are you upset with me?" the red one asks the human.
"No, not at all," Tightniks says, "Are you getting the feeling that we had an upset at this point last cycle?"
"How would you know it was only the last?" Yellow asks, "Your memory's no better than ours."
"Right," the human sews another patch into his uniform, "However, I've only actually hit the switch on the portal twice, the first one on a challenge called Discipline, and the second on a challenge called Metal, which we just finished. It's easy to sort out from the statistics. I'm nervous it'll get harder to sort out when we're up to, oh," done fixing his uniform, he pops a bit of turkimp into his mouth and chews a couple times, "a few dozen or hundred manual cycles."
"Friggin' solve this faster than that, please," Red grumbles, "I know the emergency counter got to nearly a thousand, but..." he kinda trails off. Finally, he says, "I think we're remembering more cycle to cycle as we get more helium into it. I mean, I'm glad that isn't the only mechanic."
"Can't miss the supernova if it is," the human ponders.
"What?" Yellow chuckles.
"I'm remembering something from before all this, I think it was called a video game, where you'd go forward real-world in the simulation of a time loop, and your real-life head remembering what you did on previous cycles was the only mechanic," the human takes another bite, then dons his uniform shirt while chewing it. After his head pops out of the not-so-crisp-and-fresh uniform neck hole, buttons still done up, he finishes, "one of them had a supernova." [That would be Outer Wilds among the bunch of games with this mechanic, er, Minnit (I know it's spelled differently than "minute"), 12 Minutes, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and- ...I'm sure there are more.]
11h19m28s: Starting void 1 (L30).
With the thermal gloves on, Tightniks gets the void map into the portal device slot. It dematerializes and his fingers close where it used to be in his hands, then he yelps, stands up and starts dancing, "Oh crap, it's cold!" He quickly starts looking for stuff to bundle up. Once not too uncomfortable, he notices something, "You're having trouble, too?"
"No," Yellow and Red look at each other, "Well, not with the cold; this route has a poisonous atmosphere, slows down our young assimilating aluminum at the proper rate."
"Manning the traps will work at full speed, right?" Tightniks says.
"Should if your fingers can handle it," Red confirms.
11h33m57s: Void 1c100.
"You are one ugly muthaf[garble]!" he says when he sees the void boss, "Stay here, I'll be back." Runs some traps, grabs a couple helmets for the fresh volunteers, "Put these on."
"Shijou?" the grey one looks at the red one, really rather perplexed.
"I agree, that's not his usual accent," Red tilts his head, "Tightniks, what has gotten in to you?"
"Stop cheering me up," the human grumbles, "You think this is the real Quaid?"
"I think the cold is affecting him more than he realizes," Yellow offers.
"Phased plasma rifle in the forty watt range," but what the dizzy pilot actually throws at the zone boss is a Mace V-4, "and then I was thinking of breaking your neck."
[Felt like some- "Arnie? Well, the union is pulling out all the big guns today, huh?" (Tom Hanks as Sully) ...no, brain, Arnold Schwarzenegger, not Arnie Gentile (it was really funny to background Sully and listen to that line instead of "That's definitely you" in Terminator 2 while he's posing with the Minigun.) Arnie lines from Predator, Terminator 2, True Lies, Total Recall and The Terminator.]
"Tweak the portal," reads Tightniks from the portal controller aloud, but quietly, "to bring you to an alternate reality, where Trimps are bigger and stronger, to force yourself to figure out a way to build larger housing. Your Trimps will gather 50% more resources, but your housing will fit 50% fewer Trimps. If you complete The Dimension of Anger without disabling the challenge, your stats will return to normal."
"You will also open a new memory coolant unit," Yellow reads, "You think that'll cause a housing bonus?"
"Shijou," the grey one hands him a card saying "We have enough for another gateway."
"Oh, good," Tightniks hands it back after signing it, "Yes, build it."
"We're doing that next?" Yellow asks.
Tightniks sees the little fellow sitting on top of a mound that the human thought was a bowel movement pile from Draglimp, but it must be something more geological if trimps can climb it, let alone want to. "Yeah, I guess," the human answers, "It kinda scares me, I mean I'm going back, but what happens to you guys?"
"We have too much day javo or whatever you called it," Red says. He's usually on all fours, shakes his left hind leg as though something got stuck to his foot, "This isn't incrementing, I'm sure. 13 is less than 956."
"According to this, you'll be twice as big," Tightniks sets down the portal controller pad and stands up from the cart, "It's hard to imagine, especially for Shijou and Diggy. We'll clear thirty-six, that's it."
14h04m37s: Z33c95, IC.
"Are you sure we can make Zone 37 start?" the red one asks.
The yellow one is standing on Red's shoulders.
"It said we did last time," Tightniks taps on the crude leather bag strapped to his back, the portal pad inside it, "though maybe..." he tilts his head, rolls whatever he was sucking on in his mouth for a moment, "it just happened while I was building those traps. No, I'm sticking with that plan."
"If it's going to take that long," Red grinds its jaws sideways for a moment and lets its eyelids get lazy, frustration clear in its tone, "why do it again?"
"Because I've got a bad feeling about this 'Size' thing," Tightniks says, "it drops our resourcing by 75% assuming we build the same amount of housing as before, which we won't because of the reduced resourcing. We needed 65 capacity in the cabin and huts before we could do run the gypsum/paper wall machine we found. I have a funny feeling that never changes."
"We don't need 65 trimps to run it," Yellow says, "just three."
"Yeah," Tightniks says, "but a particular three that know what they're doing, and my day javoo is telling me the last of those is always the sixty-fifth."
"Shijou," the grey one moans from the other side of Tightniks. Didn't have a note this time, just kicking a little rock along as it walks.
"It thinks you're right," the red one growls forlornly, "Hating to say it, but I do too."
14h16m06s: Skel in c1, 50 bones purchased whipimp.
There's a thump at the cart, and then some commotion around it that's noticable enough for Tightniks to come over and take a look. The bone box is empty, all forty-nine titanium bones in it are gone. Tightiks brings his right hand up in front of him, and it's just a balled fist, the bone he was holding a moment ago is gone. As he starts looking for where he must have dropped it, he realizes maybe it's all related. Looking in the bottom of the empty bone box, he finds a note.
"I got you the whipimp. This new Bad Guy will begin spawning in your next zone at an average of 3 spawns per 100 enemies. I hope it helps, but I can't tell yet."
The note is in Tightniks' own handwriting, although lazy but with more consistent kerning. Is this from an older version of myself? Friggin' time travel.
14h18m48s: This L34 moun 160/27/79 calls itself "Magical Mountain" - I can't remember whether the Disney trademark is that or "Magic Mountain" ...I've seen a "Black Mesa" before, that's a Half-Life thing, and somebody on Reddit made pretend that "Dank Hill" was a King of the Hill thing (which is actually *Hank Hill, I think - it's hard to remember, it wasn't very good and I haven't watched it since the 1990s.)
19h32m00s: Doom/AT, 12816 pop, 80N, 37.7s RC with Z34/5298.
"Okay, we got that friggin' thing chocked," Yellow wipes its brow and almost bonks itself with the Mace VI-2 that it's holding, puts it down and makes sure the wedges are secure.
Grey, Red, and Green are packing more stuff around the huge boulder that chased them down a tunnel to make sure it doesn't do that again.
"Getting any day javoo?" Tightniks pants, hands on his knees, but apparently uninjured, or nearly so.
"Not at all," Yellow vehemently responds, slashing the air with its paw, "You?"
"Oh," Tightniks gets his breathing under control, "I think it was a human movie."
"Like a video on that pad?" it gestures at the human's pocket with the small one.
"No, a bigger screen," the human says.
"Fifty-five inches?" the trimp scientist chuckles.
"More like fifty-five feet," the human rubs the sweat out of his eyes, "Lots of people watching. It was called a sin."
"Ah," the trimp ponders, "Like a crime, vice, psychopathy or bad habit?"
"Er..." the human taps his forehead trying to remember, "Sorry, a cinema."
[The whole thing is obviously an homage to something I remember only slightly better than Tightniks, I think it was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As I'm posting this, I sadly realize that Nick Rekieta's arrest was between when I wrote this and now.]
19h58m55s: Zone 37, 473 He, 23.67 He/hr, 13088 pop, 81N, 32.1s RC with Z34/5298, 2806 pop short, no turkimp.
The ship is without power, and Tightniks can't run the radar much without draining the batteries...

2024.05.29 06:33 galacticmatcha Novice seeking new build advice: SFF/mini ITX to balance gaming and portability

Hi all!!
Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm in the process of relocating and I unfortunately won't be able to bring my build with me. That said, I'm okay with that as it doesn't really have my ideal specs given that it was a slightly impulse "first PC" purchase under a tight budget: Ryzen 3, GTX 1650, 16gb RAM.
Knowing what I know today now (and the hobbies I now am into), I'm opting for a "backpackable"/portable build that is much more powerful for future-proofing and being more relocation-friendly. Some use cases include:
As this would technically be my first official PC build (the previous one being with the help of a friend), I would love some thoughts and comments on the below. I'm a sucker for the case, but everything else is pretty much up in the air – including my opting for an AM5 build over AM4.
While I got to around US$1,300, I would love to get it as close to US$1,000 as much as possible as to leave some of the ideally US$1,500 budget for peripherals :3 hehe thanks so much!!! PCPartPicker Part List

Ancient History

Growing up, I was always pretty active and started running in High School. Going into my Junior year, I began to take running much more seriously and made steady progress with a 5K PR of 17:06 at the State meet. Going into my Senior year, I had been training 6 days a week with the team and hitting 40-60 miles a week consistently with hopes of going low 16's by the end of the XC season. Then, disaster. Pain in my quads was getting worse and worse until a bone scan finally revealed bilateral femoral stress fractures - one midway along the midline of each femur. I was devastated, and completely stopped running from August until February. By then, it seemed like things were getting better and I was able to put in some good miles for the spring Track season. I was always a better mid-distance runner, and was able to snag a few PRs of 2:00 in the 800m (agony, 1s off) and 4:35 in the 1600m. By that point I was basically over running, completely burned out and sick of running.
10 years later...
I wake up one morning in April of 2017 to take a shower and realize that I have no temperature sensation in my right leg whatsoever. I'm now finishing grad school, I've moved across the country, first kid on the way and due in a matter of weeks. I'm not working out much at this point, maybe running every few months at best. Stress is high. I go to urgent care and the last 6 months of subtle pins and needles on the left side of my face and the occasional double vision start to make a lot more sense. Multiple Sclerosis. It's not a death sentence, but I felt like the world was ending. My kid was due in 4 weeks and now my future was completely uncertain. A month or two, an MRI and one spinal tap later and the diagnosis is confirmed.

Training

Fortunately, new medicines have made MS much more manageable and I was lucky to have a great medical team. Perhaps the most important thing to keep the disease in check beyond highly potent immunosuppressants is regular exercise. Time to start running again.
Starting out was rough, but within a few weeks I was able to feel ok running 15-20 miles a week in the 8-10 min/mile range. I keep that up consistently for a year or so and run my first 10K with a time of 44:42, which I was pretty proud of at the time. Things are going well for a while, second kid is on the way, my MS seems mostly stable, albeit leaving me with some permanent loss of function of my left leg (these gait issues will come up later), pins and needles in my right leg, and fatigue. Then COVID hits. Now I'm at home, with much more time. I increase my mileage a bit, now running 20-30 miles a week but not really following any particular plan or anything. Move across country, keep running when I can.
Mid-2023 I decided to finally take it up a level. I was mostly using the Garmin Daily Workouts at this point and running consistently 30 miles a week. I decided to run my first half-marathon, just as a virtual training run, and felt pretty good about my time with an 8:24/mi average pace. Going into fall, I juggled some illnesses but kept running. Unfortunately around November I started to develop Sesamoiditis and had to really limit my running to 35-40 miles per week. I ran a Christmas 5K with a time of 19:14, which felt pretty good, but was still dealing with the Sesamoid issue.
Over time, the Sesamoid started to resolve but I would occasionally feel some twinges in my right Adductor. Nevertheless, I felt like the time was now to try for my first Marathon. Around February, I finally committed and decided to do the Pfitz 12/55 plan. I had been consistently in the 35-40 range for a few months, so felt like I had a decent base. At first, I found the plan quite difficult to deal with. It was the most structured running I had done since high school, but after a while my schedule adapted and I was hitting all of the workouts. About halfway through, the Adductor issue started to really rear its ugly head. It seems like it's a combination of gait issues from my MS as well as compensating for the weakened Sesamoid. I attempted to strength train, but had to back off a bit.
At best, I was able to hit 53 miles a week, occasionally having to skip some workouts for cross-training or rest. I felt like I nailed the 20 mile runs pretty well and overall the LRs felt good. I ran one 5K as a kind of "tune-up" with a time of 19:21, pacing a friend, so putting in maybe 80-90% effort. Due to injuries and some travel I was never able to do one of the longer tune-up races. Unfortunately, the Adductor issue continued to wax and wane, finally flaring up badly about 3 weeks out from my target marathon. After a consultation with Ortho, I was told to stop running cold turkey for two weeks prior to the Marathon, and then a follow-up last Friday I was given the green light to try it ... cautiously ... but consider dropping out if it is too painful.

Pre-Race

My taper was compromised pretty heavily by the injury, so I was really feeling worried about how the race would go. That said, I knew that the training was done at this point, and so an extended rest shouldn't make TOO much of an impact if I feel ready. I carb-loaded three days out and tried to take on a lot of fluids. While my injury was feeling better, the next worry was the temperature. Forecast was saying low 60s for the start of the race, ramping up to the mid 70s by the time I expected to finish. We drove up to Burlington from the Boston area on Friday with the kids, and I likely did too much walking on Saturday but overall I was feeling ok and was fortunate to get a good amount of sleep Saturday night (7.5hrs).
I'm a scientist by training, so planning and preparation is second nature to me. I woke up at 4:45, had a cup of coffee, half a bagel, a banana, and a Maurten 160 drink. Because of the temperature, I decided to prepare two 500mL bottles of Tailwind, one that I would take with me and one that I would pickup from my wife at the Half point. I planned for 4 gels (Maurten@5mi, Gu@10mi, Maurten+Caf@15mi, Maurten@20) and to get a cup of water at every aid station each 2.5mi. I jogged down to the start at 6:15am, used the restroom probably 4 times, and lined up with the 3:30 group.

Race

My plan was to start out with the 3:30 pacer group and see how things go. The course is advertised as being flat and fast, but I'm not sure I believe that because there is a big hill you run up twice with 120ft of vert over about 1/2 mile and between 5-7% grade at times. The course is essentially two figure 8s, and you start in the middle. At 7:15am, we took off. The first few miles felt a bit stiff, but I was chatting it up with the pacers and feeling pretty relaxed. We were going a bit ahead of pace, clocking in at 7:50 per mile for the first 4-5 miles. Around the 10K mark, I was feeling a bit antsy and the pace was slowing down...I decided to head off alone, despite a lot of reservation that I was making a poor decision.
Around Mile 9, I was starting to feel a bit of tightness in my legs and my HR was in the high 160s. I was a little bit concerned about this early fatigue, but I knew from my training that I feel like this on almost every single run and it doesn't really seem to get worse, it just seems to be part of my mechanics or something. I kept pushing on, mile after mile, keeping my pace pretty consistently. Every aid station I got a cup of water, drank some and splashed the rest on my head. This made a HUGE difference in the end.
Mile 13, came in at the Half feeling great. Started up one of the hills and saw my wife. *Disaster* she had the wrong bottle. No carbs, no Tailwind for the 2nd half, and my current bottle was empty. At this point, I had also been taking my gels early. My stomach was feeling great so instead of a gel at every 5th mile I was taking one at every 4. The race provided gels at mile 8 and mile 21, so I had picked up an extra gel by this time and made the decision to stop at the next aid station around mile 15 and fill up my bottle with Gatorade. Salvation.
Kept chugging along, feeling a bit of fatigue setting in around the slog from mile 16-19. At mile 19, I saw my wife again and she had the correct bottle (it was my fault, she thought I meant for her to give me a larger, recovery bottle I had prepared of Skratch for after the race). I got my bottle of Tailwind and hit the monster hill at Mile 20. This was my slowest mile at 8:15 (GAP of 7:40) and it really sapped my strength. I was thinking that this must be like running Heartbreak Hill the entire time I was going up.
Through the hill, into the last 10K. Starting to feel desperate, just pushing forward every step of the way. The pacing in this marathon is quite strange, because it also has a Relay of either 2-person or 4-person teams, so you're always seeing different people with way fresher legs than you. Ended up finding a woman to run with who was crushing it, and we paced eachother the last 3-4 miles. Took a last gel around 24 miles and grinded it out to the end.

Berlin next... then Boston?

Post-race, I was feeling pretty happy with my 3:26 time. To be honest, I felt a little anti-climactic, although I'm not entirely sure why. I didn't feel a ton of adrenaline or emotion throughout the race and things seemed pretty collected. That said, I'm pretty surprised at how much I loved almost every minute of the race itself. Maybe it was just because it was my first time, but it was truly a fun and rewarding experience.
I think there were a few areas where I could have pushed just slightly harder, but given it was my first marathon on a somewhat challenging course in the heat I'm overall happy with my time. I absolutely nailed my hydration/fueling and my pacing, with a slightly negative split overall, so I'm really pleased with that. As a whole, I'd give my training cycle maybe a 6/10; I think I definitely raced too many of my training runs, likely leading to some of my injuries. I was also only able to go above 50mpw in 2 of the 12 weeks of the program.
Given my somewhat poor training cycle, I'm hoping that I still have a lot of room to improve. I was a bit worried that my MS would cause issues during the marathon, particularly my left leg, which tends to lose coordination in long, higher intensity efforts. Fortunately, it felt pretty good throughout.
Earlier in the year, I was lucky to get a spot for both Berlin and NYC. Given their proximity to each other, I'm going to try and defer NYC to next year. I've now been thinking through if I want to try and apply to Boston for 2025. Given my MS, I am technically eligible for an "adaptive" application, which has a cutoff time of 6:00. I feel in two minds about this, because on one hand I feel like I'm maybe taking a bit of the easy way out, when it might be possible for me to hit sub-3:05 some day. On the other hand, I don't know how many years I have left running so I'm thinking I might just seize the opportunity now and then try and qualify through the more "standard" way in the future. Curious on people's thoughts on this, and thanks for reading!

2024.05.29 06:08 Edward-Sakki Dreamed about space

Today I dreamed that I was in space, along with hundreds of people, apparently tycoons or millionaires of money, who could have paid for their ticket on that ship. I don't know what the ship was like completely because in my dream I only found myself in a part of it, apparently we were in a very large, flat place in the ship, there was a glass dome that served as a roof and that allowed us to see the stars, like the sun and the planets.
People talked and talked about the science projects that the ship had, others delighted in looking at the place. The floor was transparent, and revealed something like the ship's electrical and electronic circuits when one stopped to look down. In one part of this esplanade, there was something like a nucleus of energy, of light that was perennially there, it did not seem to be dangerous, I even saw some people very close to this thing.
I said that people seemed to be tycoons, well because that is what would really happen if something similar actually happened in 2024. Only a select handful of people with a lot of money will be able to go. Or suddenly maybe I'm forgetting about human specimens with special abilities that are useful in space, although from what I saw and felt in my dream it is not a mission to colonise another planet.
Suddenly I think the crew of the ship and other members wanted to demonstrate something, which had to do with that nucleus of energy or light that was on the floor. A man flew through the place until he reached the roof, that is, the dome, and he flew and fluttered. I don't know how, but as the man descends (I shared a vision of this man or maybe it was me, I don't know, it's something that usually happens in my dreams, immediately putting myself in the perspective of other characters) people began to get desperate and scared because They had found out, I don't know how, that there was a problem with the ship, or with that power source, that threatened everyone's life and the trip.
The very desperate people forced the captains to tell the ship to return them to earth, with some small rescue ships. More than ships, they were like suits, accompanied by a propulsion system. But apparently this return would not be possible, because desperation grew like foam.
After this I saw well-known people like former President Obama who were among those people. Surely I must have seen other familiar faces, but I don't remember anymore. Me and two other people I knew decided to try those lifesaving suits to try to escape, and after this my memories become somewhat confusing. After that confusing part I found myself on earth doing other things not related to space at all.
Another dream that I had years ago was about a fight between 2 titanic creatures in the sea, at night. I don't know why but my feelings in that dream were like "the end of time was near" and it is written in the Bible about some leviathans and sea monsters although not exactly. That fight between those two creatures as big as mountains accentuated that feeling. There was lightning and thunder, there was wind, and I was only able to notice the size of these creatures by the light of the lightning.
Well I wanted to share those dreams, and maybe I would also like to know what they could mean.
I have several dreams like this, related to space, that I have had over time. If I can remember more details I will be updating this post.
Thank you

🔗Killer Instinct Lumix Speedring Crossbow Scope: Improved Targeting for Hunting

Using the Killer Instinct MSCKI-1020 Lumix Speedring 1.5 to 5 x 32 IR-E Crossbow Scope has been quite an experience. The scope has made hunting much more enjoyable for me, thanks to its amazing abilities to lock onto and track moving targets from vast distances.
One of the features that really stood out is the durability of the metal case. This thing has a real tank-like feel to it, resisting impacts and harsh weather as if it was made for it. The spring-loaded covers on the lenses also proved to be quite reliable, keeping the lenses safe and scratchless until I was ready to hunt.
The built-in Speed Ring is another aspect of the scope that has impressed me. Making adjustments for my crossbow's speed has been a breeze, and the illuminated reticle is a big help when it comes to sighting in low-light conditions. I particularly appreciate the contrast the red/blue illumination provides.
However, there was one downside that I found a little disturbing. The scope came in a condition that made it apparent that someone had used it before. I was not happy with this fact, especially considering I had paid for a brand new product.
Overall, the MSCKI-1020 Lumix Speedring 1.5 to 5 x 32 IR-E Crossbow Scope is a product that I would recommend, even with its minor fault. It certainly helped me become a better hunter, and it would do the same for anyone looking to enhance their hunting experience.

🔗Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Black Ir-E Crossbow Scope with LED Illumination

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. This black 1021 model was a great addition to my hunting gear, providing exceptional clarity thanks to its multicoated optics and 1-inch mono tube construction. The fast focus eyepiece is a game-changer, allowing me to quickly adjust my sight even when on the move.
One feature that stood out was the illuminated cross-hair reticle, which came in both blue and red. It was perfect for low-light situations, making it easier for me to spot my target. I appreciated the adjustment click value of 0.5 inches at 100 yards, as it gave me accurate and consistent shot adjustments.
However, there were a few downsides to this otherwise great scope. The exit pupil was smaller than I would have liked, making it a bit more challenging to see the cross-hair reticle at times. Additionally, the scope's weight was lighter than expected, which might not have been ideal for everyone.
Overall, I'm happy with my experience using the Killer Instinct Lumix 4x32 Ir-E Crossbow Scope. It's a quality product with some small drawbacks, but its pros certainly outweigh the cons. If you're in the market for a reliable crossbow scope, this one is definitely worth considering.

In my pursuit of a new spotting scope that could enhance my wildlife viewing and target shooting experiences, I stumbled upon the SVBONY SV28 Spotting Scopes. From the moment I opened the package, I was impressed by its sleek exterior and sturdy construction.
One feature that stood out to me was its range of magnification capabilities - the SV28 allowed me to adjust the magnification according to my target distance, providing crystal clear image quality. The lens was exceptionally sharp, making it perfect for both target shooting and observing nature. Another aspect I appreciated was the ease of focus adjustment, ensuring that every detail was visible no matter the distance.
However, I have to say that the tripod that came with the unit seemed a bit lackluster compared to my usual tripod. I ended up using my own sturdier tripod, but it was still nice to have the option included in the package. Additionally, while the phone adapter was a nice addition, I felt it could have been more user-friendly.
Overall, the SVBONY SV28 Spotting Scopes exceeded my expectations, offering outstanding clarity and exceptional value for its price. Though there were a few minor quibbles, I would definitely recommend it to others in search of a reliable, affordable spotting scope for their outdoor adventures.

The most common caliber for 22 Scope is the. 22 Long Rifle (LR). However, there are other options like the. 22 Magnum (Maj) and. 22 WMR (Winchester Rimfire). When choosing a caliber, consider factors such as recoil, velocity, and bullet type. The. 22 LR has the least recoil and is suitable for beginners or those who prefer a more gentle firing experience. The. 22 Magnum offers greater velocity and energy, making it ideal for hunting or long-range shooting.

Barrel Length

The 22 Scope barrel length can range from 16 inches to 26 inches. The shorter barrels offer more maneuverability, especially in tight spaces or for use in a defensive setting. Longer barrels provide increased accuracy and velocity. For hunting or target shooting, a 20-22 inches barrel is generally recommended, providing a good balance between accuracy, velocity, and maneuverability.

Action

The action of a 22 Scope can be bolt-action, semi-automatic, or pump-action. Bolt-action rifles offer a reliable, easy-to-use mechanism and are suitable for hunting or target shooting. Semi-automatic rifles provide faster follow-up shots, making them a popular choice for competitive shooting or hunting where a rapid shot sequence is desired. Pump-action rifles are also known for their reliability and quick follow-up shots, often preferred for self-defense purposes.

Other Features to Consider

  • Stock material and design
  • Sight options (such as iron sights, open sights, or scopes)
  • Trigger pull weight
  • Safety features
  • Finish and overall build quality

Maintenance and Storage

Regularly maintaining and storing your 22 Scope can extend its lifespan and ensure reliable performance. After each shooting session, clean the rifle thoroughly, checking for any damage or wear. The 22 Scope is a versatile and reliable choice for various shooting activities. By considering factors such as caliber, barrel length, and action, you can select the best 22 Scope for your specific needs. Always prioritize safety and accuracy, and with proper maintenance, your 22 Scope will provide reliable and enjoyable shooting experiences for years to come.

🔗Premium Quality 1X6 Scope for Optimal Optical Performance

The Feather Vision Original Claro scope has been a game-changer for me during my outdoor adventures. With so many compatible scopes, it's got a universal fit that's convenient to use. The AR coating really stands out, as it significantly reduces glare, and I appreciate how lightweight this scope is.
It feels so comfortable on my rifle, and the clarity of the image it provides is just exceptional. However, as much as I love the 1X6 scope, the weight reduction might compromise its durability in the long run. Nonetheless, this scope deserves every bit of its top-notch rating.

🔗Ambidextrous Modular Scope for M1A Rifles with #10-32 Stainless Steel Rod and Doc's Choice Lens

The Axcel AVX-31 Scope Lens Combo instantly caught my eye with its sleek black finish and modular design. As an avid archer, I found it incredibly useful to have a scope that could be customized to my needs. The various adjustments it offered, ranging from sun shades to interchangeable ring pins, truly allowed me to build the perfect scope for my M1A.
One component that stood out in my experience was the Doc's Choice lens, which provided me with excellent clarity and brightness control in a variety of lighting settings. The ambidextrous design was a nice touch, ensuring that the scope could be used comfortably by both right and left-handed shooters alike.
However, there was a downside to this product's versatility - the vast array of customizable options could be overwhelming for someone new to the world of archery. Additionally, the stainless steel rod and T Connector, while functional, seemed a bit rough around the edges compared to other high-quality accessories I've used.
Overall, the Axcel AVX-31 Scope Lens Combo is a great option for experienced archers looking for a fully customizable scope system. However, those new to the sport may find it a bit too complex and finicky for their liking. Despite its minor flaws, this scope proved to be a valuable asset in my daily shooting routine.

🔗Precision 22 Rifle Scope for Enhanced Optics

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Feather Vision Verde Vitri Lens 1 3/8 Multi Scope 4X. This lens has become a valuable addition to my equipment, providing a clearer image than flat glass in various conditions. One of the highlights is the AR coating, which improves light transmission and makes it easier on the eyes. The specific curve structure is also a game-changer, making it fit a variety of scopes such as HHA, Viper 3D, and more.
However, there was a slight challenge when it came to adjusting the magnification level from 4x to 6x. I had to learn how to focus on the target first before looking through the peep sight to avoid losing sight. But once I got the hang of it, the lens provided a clear view of the target, even at over 40 yards.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Feather Vision Verde Vitri Lens to anyone looking for a high-quality lens at a reasonable price. It's definitely worth the investment for the clarity it provides.

Buyer's Guide

A 22 riflescope is an essential accessory for any 22 caliber rifle, offering enhanced accuracy and precision. They come in various styles, from fixed power to variable power, designed for different shooting scenarios. In this buyer's guide, we will discuss the key features and considerations when choosing a 22 riflescope.

Fixed Power vs. Variable Power

https://preview.redd.it/8pwgso7gea3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4db99a66ef39b36bff7393f4d29c13c39d14f4b9
Fixed power riflescopes have a constant magnification, while variable power riflescopes allow you to adjust the magnification. Fixed power scopes are easier to use and more reliable, making them suitable for beginners or for close-range shooting. On the other hand, variable power scopes are more versatile and offer greater adaptability for different shooting situations. They are ideal for long-range shooting or hunting.

Magnification and Optical Quality

The magnification of a 22 riflescope refers to the amount of enlargement you can achieve through the scope. A higher magnification will provide a clearer, more detailed image, but it may also make the scope heavier and more expensive. When choosing a 22 riflescope, consider the magnification range that best suits your shooting needs. Additionally, pay attention to the optical quality, including lens clarity and light transmission. This will ensure a bright, sharp image in various lighting conditions.

Field of View and Eye Relief

Field of view (FOV) refers to the width of the area you can see through the scope at a given magnification. A larger FOV allows for a broader view and quicker target acquisition, which might be preferable in close-range shooting. Eye relief, on the other hand, is the distance between the shooter's eye and the scope. A comfortable eye relief is essential for preventing eye strain and ensuring a clear sight picture.

Reticle and Illumination

The reticle is the pattern of lines or crosshairs within the scope that helps you aim at the target. Different reticles offer various holding points for different shooting scenarios. Illuminated reticles are helpful for low-light shooting, providing a glowing dot or crosshair that can be adjusted for brightness. When choosing a 22 riflescope, consider the reticle's style and illumination options that suit your shooting preferences.

Durability and Weather Resistance

A high-quality 22 riflescope should be durable and resistant to harsh weather conditions. Look for a scope with a strong, waterproof construction and fog-resistant lenses. This ensures that your scope will remain functional in different environments and withstand accidental drops or impacts.

Price and Value

https://preview.redd.it/xn8bxf4hea3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85c27aa892e752f3cdfde4142b050e0984446531
The price of a 22 riflescope can vary significantly depending on its features and performance. When comparing prices, consider the quality, durability, and usefulness of the scope. A more expensive scope may offer advanced features, increased accuracy, and a longer lifespan, but it may not be necessary for a casual shooter or hunter. Choose a scope that provides the best value for your budget and shooting needs.
Choosing the right 22 riflescope involves considering various factors, including fixed power or variable power, magnification, optical quality, field of view, eye relief, reticle and illumination, durability, weather resistance, and price. By focusing on your individual shooting requirements and preferences, you can find a 22 riflescope that enhances your shooting experience and provides the best value for your investment.

I swear, there are some managers that get a power trip off of knowing they can take away the job that many of us rely on for education, healthcare, and income. Some of them act like their hands are completely tied when it comes to “policy”. They act as if the district manager will fire them for having a shred of empathy, it’s exhausting having gone from a great manager to a bad one. I won’t go into great detail, but I was threatened with a final warning bc I wanted to call out due to physical and mental fatigue so great that I couldn’t even keep my vision in focus for more than a few minutes at a time. I had to operate a vehicle at 5 in the morning, driving slowly and carefully bc of my blurring vision, bc I can’t afford to put my college education and access to therapy at risk.

2024.05.29 05:30 Little_BlueBirdy Today, amidst the digital labyrinth of Reddit, I found myself at a juncture where my convictions collided:

Today, amidst the digital labyrinth of Reddit, I found myself at a juncture where my convictions collided:
The tale begins with a moderator—a wielder of virtual authority, draped in the cloak of anonymity. Their actions, like ripples across a vast cosmic pond, reverberated through the threads of a subreddit. Rising information, once concealed, now lay exposed—a secret whispered into the digital winds. The subject? Another user, ensnared in the web of their own vulnerability.
I hesitated, fingers poised above the keyboard, contemplating the weight of my next move. The path of least resistance beckoned—an easy retreat into the shadows, where apathy and indifference held sway. But within me stirred a dormant ember—the ember of justice, perhaps, or the echo of ancient oaths sworn by forgotten heroes.
And so, I reported the rogue moderator. Not with the fervor of a righteous avenger, but with the quiet resolve of someone who glimpsed the cosmic gears turning. The user, battered and bruised, had chosen silence over defiance. Their voice, muffled by fear, needed amplification—an echo chamber of empathy and solidarity.
Yet, I harbor no illusions. Reddit, that sprawling agora of pixels and opinions, rarely wields its banhammer with precision. It is a place where trolls dance with impunity, where the line between jest and cruelty blurs like distant constellations. But still, I clung to hope—a fragile filament spun from stardust and stubbornness.
In this celestial skirmish, I wish no ill upon the moderator. Their motives remain shrouded—a nebula of enigma. Perhaps they, too, grapple with cosmic questions: the nature of power, the boundaries of compassion, and the gravity of their digital deeds. Or perhaps they are mere shadows, cast by the flickering light of their monitor.
And so, the fight persists—a cosmic tug-of-war across the binary expanse. Threads fray, pixels flicker, and the cosmic clock ticks inexorably. Somewhere, beyond the ones and zeros, lies resolution—a distant quasar of equilibrium. May it arrive, not as a cataclysm, but as a quiet dawn—a moment when the cosmic scales find balance, and the stars themselves nod in approval.
And thus, dear seeker of stories, I share this fragment—a pixelated parable—woven from the threads of curiosity and my cosmic musings

2024.05.29 05:26 nightmare_purp The intruder

Creakkk! I looked up and saw my daughter descending the stairs, her face dropped when she realized how loud the floor boards were below her feet. She’s holding up her shirt up using it to hold all her most valuable goods. I hear a door up stairs slam shut. She runs down the stairs clearly terrified of the man upstairs, she doesn’t care how loud her feet are anymore.
We hide inside a closet and make sure we have everything we need, phones, expensive jewelry, the extremely valuable pure breed dog my daughter is obsessed with, and most importantly the car keys.
From outside the door I hear the man trudging around aggressively, I peak out the keyhole and see what he’s holding, a large shotgun ready and loaded. I hold my daughter’s head to my chest, oh what would I do if this crazy man hurt my daughter. She’s only six, she doesn’t deserve this. It’s my fault she is in this position but I try to convince myself it isn’t.
I hear the man round the corner and we make a break for it, straight out the back door around the side of the house and to the car. We get in and start it up, zooming away in the brand new Mercedes. I am so glad to get away from the scary man. Just as I think we are free of him and start deciding where we should go from here. I hear the sound… the loud alarms trailing around the corner of a nearby street. I try to turn the car around and find a new escape route but it’s too late… red and blue lights surround my vision. How is it that I got caught? What will they do with my daughter? It’s not fair that he can own things like this car and she hasn’t eaten all day. How am I the one breaking the law?

2024.05.29 05:25 Sin-God A New Chain: Edging Closer

"Good afternoon Ms. Lopez." I say, warmly greeting an elderly Cuban woman in her sixties. She smiles sweetly at me as she asks me if I am the chef behind today's food, in Spanish. I smile and nod at her, and she excitedly begins to chatter in Spanish, telling me the latest chisme regarding the latest romantic escapades occurring in her son's life.
I lightly place some ham on the sandwich I'm preparing for her as she excitedly gossips with me. I cleverly practice my active listening skills, while occasionally chiming in to let her know that I am actively aware of what she's saying. The woman is one of the last people to arrive during today's meal hour. She seems to operate on a sense of punctuality that is uniquely hers, almost like a force of nature. I almost admire it, if I'm being honest. My fellow volunteers look at me and smile as they sense the passive patience I radiate in this minor interaction.
The day has been one of the more chill ones in the soup kitchen, especially since I started actively championing the place. At our most busy we've served hundreds of families in a single day, and today we've served a few dozen. There's something quite nice about this moment of normalcy. I wonder if I sometimes took this level of mundanity for granted during this jump...
To be fair to myself a part of me is almost acting like I'm guaranteed to send myself to some apocalyptic hellscape and that's just not happening. I'm almost guaranteed to go to a place more dangerous than "9-5; a white-collar simulator", but I'm picking my next destination and after the decade of serenity I've had here I've got no reason to act like a dumbass and jeopardize my odds of long-term success in this career by sending myself to a death trap. Ms. Lopez smiles as she walks away, clearly believing she's shared vital chisme with me. To be fair, she did share gossip plenty of people would find juicy, but since I'm not some gossip I was the wrong audience for her words.
My fellow volunteers look at me and glance at my phone with curious looks. I pick up the thing and see that I've been missing an exhilarating conversation in our group chat. I skim the thing, my perfected memory allowing me to instantly catch up with the conversation the small gaggle of brave volunteers who kindly donate our weekend hours have been having before I begin to text the group back.
The rest of the day passes by in a blur. We wait for the people who've come for a meal to finish their food up and then we get to cleaning. After that we do a few sweeps of the parts of the church we've used before going our separate ways. I make my way home, and I do some light meal-prepping as well as practice a few more of my skills. At this point in my stay I've perfected my routine and could do it in my sleep... If I ever slept that is. In the entire time I've been in this setting I don't believe I've slept once. That is a nice feeling, since it means I never wasted an hour of my time, much less six.
The work week is a bit of a slog, since I am eagerly anticipating the news regarding my final promotion. I was never the sort to believe that time felt longer when you were excited about something, or dreading it, but in the time since I came to this setting I've gradually become a believer in such ideas even if they still feel a bit silly. Nonetheless. I diligently work through the week, keep my team on track, and when Friday rolls around I get the news I've waited for.
Thanks to "Gamer's Mind" I am able to keep my face even as the office's general supervisor explains this news to me and not outwardly express my excitement, but internally I am more excited than I've been about anything since I first entered this world. This news means that I'll be getting right around $3,000 dollars every two weeks just for existing! This means that in future jumps working will be optional unless I get really greedy, which frees me up to decide what I want to do in most modern settings. In medieval settings this amount of money could be even more vital, though at the same time such a thing could just... not matter, since in such a setting I could easily just avoid civilization, but this money will certainly liberate me from a lot of the struggles of wasting vast swathes of a jump at a job I don't want.
At the time that I was being told the good news I almost began to cry. Thank goodness for Gamer's Mind, I guess.
Nine years ago I was down on my luck and down to my last dollars when I got the job offer that led me here and this news means that I am free from such things. The freedom and power that comes with making enough to get by, especially passively, is awe-inspiring, and it's quite difficult for me to find the words to express how excited it makes me feel even days after it. I spend... close to a week passively smiling and being just ambiently happy, as I begin to integrate a new set of responsibilities into my work life.
During this time my decision to fix the coffee machine in the office break-room by hand after it almost burns a colleague results in me getting a new class; "Handyman" and the initial ability I receive is a simple one that bolsters my agility a touch, agility being my attribute tied to fine motor skills. I skillfully use this class to actually fix various things by hand, and I begin to steadily accrue various maintenance skills. In days I gain class levels, and with each class level I am able to repair things faster, more cheaply, and eventually my ability to fix matures into an ability to improve things, which I instinctively know will lead to some shenanigans down the line. Before I know it days have turned into weeks, which age and turn into months. My skills with leadership and motivation have continued to improve and I lead my team with my full focus and skillful decision-making. Before I know it I am in the final leg of the final stretch of my first jump.
I've been here for 119 months. Nine years and eleven months. It's actually been... even longer than that. I'm at the beginning of the final week of my stay here, and my hands idly clean a dish as I passively listen to Pastor Charlie, one of the few guest pastors the church has invited in years deliver a sermon. He has the congregants enraptured and eating out of the palm of his hand as he speaks about a miracle that "Our Lord" once performed. His voice is a pleasant distraction and one of my twin trains of thought listens and takes notes on how the man delivers his sermon. Physically I seem to be engrossed in the man's sermon when someone, one of the church's assistants, taps on my shoulder and gestures for me to walk over to the pastor's office. I stealthy get up, activating "Rogue" and make my way out of the serving area adjacent to the kitchen. I relax a touch when I'm in the long hallway leading me to Tyler's, Pastor Rhodes's, office.
As I walk down the humble hallway I feel a strange sense of finality wash over me. There's something uncommonly... real about this trek. I feel more solid, more whole than I have in a while, and I suspect that it's because this is my last time in this soup kitchen, this church. I won't be returning here, at least not for a while, and that's sad. It's not the saddest thing that's ever happened to me, but it is kind of a bummer and I allow myself to feel a touch of real, genuine sadness at the sobering realization that when I leave this place I'll be leaving for a long time.
I eventually put that thought away, shelving it and compartmentalizing my thoughts so I can focus on better, happier things. My enhanced senses allow me to spot things like faint cracks too thin for normal humans to spot, and as I walk past them I cast my handy spell on them. I watch as the walls of the hallway repair themselves and I smile, sensing the powerful potential of the spell at my fingertips. I reach the office of the man I've spent plenty of weekends working alongside, and under, and I smile, even internally, when he looks up and spots me. He greets me with a smile and motions for me to sit down. When I do what he asks, he immediately begins to speak.
"Lucas, I apologize for calling out to you but I wanted to check in. Today you seemed... Out of it." The man exclaims, and judging from the way my heart jumps in my chest I realize that some people are just.... more intuitive than others. My acting skill gets a nice little load of experience when I mask my reaction to his words and let out a small, natural sounding laugh in response to his question.
"Tyler," I begin, causing the man to wince. I'm an atheist, or at least I was pre-chain, now... well, now I'm a lot more curious about religion than I was before. I'm not sure if gods exist, but I sure as shit know the supernatural does and I'm not in the business of denying what I can see. I've made my vague religious position clear to the man long ago so he insists I call him "Tyler" which I've personally always found a bit awkward, but there's something a little funny about how it disarms him so cleanly during this interaction. "I'm doing... Okay. I AM bummed I won't be here next week." I state, calmly. This causes my friend's eyes to widen in surprise.
"You're missing a week? I'm sure some of our regulars will be disappointed. Is everything alright?" The man asks. His question is so sincere, so genuine that it's mildly disarming.
I'm... not a nice person. I'm far from mean, sure, but I've come to accept that there's a core of kindness in some people, even in many people, and I am not someone who has that core, that central, unconscious, guiding light that moves them towards kindness with the ease and naturalness of a heartbeat. At my core rests something else, something I don't know if I can articulate in just a few words.
I wouldn't say I'm mean or anything like that but I'm far more cynical than a lot of the people I've met are. In this world, especially, it seems like a lot of people are just decent at heart and I suspect that that was and is the case in the world I was born on as well. Tyler is one of the people I've met whose central guiding light seems to be centered around decency and kindness and I think in any world the man could find himself in he'd strive to be kind. It's almost like interacting with a real version of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons...
"I'm okay. I'm gonna be doing other stuff, and I normally prioritize the soup kitchen over my work or social life," I state, and this isn't a flex it's simply a very true statement. Tyler hears the remark and smiles faintly. "But I've been asked to help out with other stuff from friends who wouldn't ask if it wasn't something they really felt they could handle alone. I'm just gonna miss one weekend, and then I'll be back." I remark, and Tyler smiles at me.
"Okay Lucas. If you need any help you'd ask, right?" Tyler asks, and I consider the question. This is only somewhat an act, as I don't know if I'd ask for help if I needed it. I ultimately nod at the man and I can sense a touch of sadness as he studies my response, which I don't love but I also don't really feel right lying anymore than is necessary. The man makes some small talk and I quickly breeze through it. In minutes I am back in the kitchen with the others. And minutes after that I am cleaning with my fellow volunteers. Almost before I know it I'm stepping out of the church after we've cleaned out the kitchen. I glance at it one last time before I make my way home.
The next few days pass by in a blur, with only two minor oddities; the first being that I ask Hannah to come out with me on Friday night. I have got to see if I can stomach the idea of any sort of romance in a jump, and this is a consequence free way for me to do something along those lines. The second oddity is that I spend nearly all of my money purchasing... well, everything. Every night after work I go to various stores and spend the money that I really haven't needed all that much until now, purchasing things like weapons, food, and especially books. I buy boatloads of books, both ready and willing to use up something I won't be able to take with me into future jumps anyway in exchange for stuff I CAN take with me, thanks to the fiat-backed power of an infinite inventory.
The work week is, aside from what I do after work every night, pretty normal but Friday itself is weirdly solemn. The day passes by as quickly as any other day has, filled with minor encounters with glitches, and a few more annoyances with my small number of drawbacks but when five rolls around I clock out one last time and give the office a final look. I am weirdly slow when it comes to getting up and leaving my cubicle, in fact I'm actually one of the last office workers to leave the office but as I step out of the building I experience another burst of gratitude to Gamer's Mind, which keeps me from acting odd or even tearing up as I glance back at the place I've spent thousands of hours in.
I allow myself a beat to... honestly, grieve. I tell myself that it's okay to have feelings about leaving, even if those feelings are big and weird and are not the most fun. Nonetheless I don't linger here, at my place of employment, I have other things I both need and want to do. I use my inventory and change into a pretty casual outfit before I begin a brief walk. _________________________________________________________________________
The park beside the office building is a rare example of a pristine location in the city. It is filled with natural greenery, and at the moment a stunningly pretty redhead glances at her phone waiting for someone to pop into view.
The redhead is wearing a pleasant looking dress and a jacket, as the weather is just beginning to take the seasonal turn towards the unpleasant. It's still warm enough that the clothes are mostly unnecessary but as she waits for her friend, a young man who has finally gotten the courage to ask her out on something vaguely approximating a date, she appreciates the wisdom of her decision to wear the slightly warmer than necessary clothes.
Her "date", mostly in her eyes though he is aware of her feelings and a part of him feels some happiness in the idea that this is a date, enters the park and spots her before she spots him. He reaches into his inventory and he retrieves something, a nice little bouquet he purchased earlier today and safely stored away. The flowers, prettily packed and all, appear as he walks towards the young woman.
Lucas is testing the waters here. He isn't testing the waters with Hannah specifically, but rather what it feels like to go on a date as a jumper. He has long had strange feelings about this, but he knows that he is going to leave tomorrow and so he wants to see if he can enjoy a date as a jumper, so he is doing a scientific experiment even if he feels... less than great about some aspects of all of this.
"Hannah!" Lucas says, calling out to one of his first, in fact one of his only, real friends in this world. The redhead excitedly turns and spots her longtime friend, waving at him and waving him over. She spots the bouquet and lets out a delighted sounding laugh, and when Lucas hears it the smile that alights his features is heartwarming.
In his day to day life some facets of Lucas's charisma-heavy build only rarely surface in ways that matter and his looks tends to be one such thing He is attractive enough that his looks can captivate and reside in one's imagination for a while after they first meet him, but right now, this early on along his chain his looks are only enough to make people have schoolgirl crushes on him and people can and do get used to his looks after a while. Still, in some moments this is enough to color the impression he makes on people. Right now, in a romantic context, his supernatural attractiveness is enough to change the sort of impression he makes on someone.
The handsome actor reaches his friend and sits down next to her. He hands her the flowers and for a moment a strange serenity washes over the two as they enjoy each other's company. Lucas looks inward and he realizes that he genuinely, well and truly, likes this moment. Hannah looks at him and eventually asks an important question.
"Lucas... how am I gonna hold these flowers?" She asks, and this makes him smile. He is quick to offer her a response.
"I'll take them when we get going but I saw them and I thought of you. I felt like I'd regret it if I didn't give you these." He says, and there is an odd, for him, level of sincerity and genuineness in his voice that makes Hannah giggle girlishly. Lucas right now is relying on his perk-enhanced instincts and the charisma he has honed through social encounters for the last decade, and he's enjoying how it feels.
Both of the figures on the "Date", though neither of them officially dubbed it that, enjoy the moment. Their passive delight and infatuation create an envy-inducing atmosphere of closeness and quiet joy that radiates outward. The park is nearly abandoned so there is no one to witness this moment other than Lucas's benefactor, and Lucas is simply at peace.
Eventually he lightly touches Hannah's hand, and asks her if she'd like to go and get dinner before they go to the movie they agreed on going to watch earlier this week. Hannah agrees, handing Lucas the bouquet and he, to her surprise, puts it in the bag he has on his person. When she asks if that will squish or hurt the flowers Lucas tells her, with a bizarre amount of confidence, that it won't. She eventually accepts this, having learned to trust that Lucas knows what he is doing, and the two of them begin a short walk to a mall they both know well.

2024.05.29 05:11 TaskSilly1477 My daughter LOST it on her last of MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Title explanation: Lilia lost her airpods at school but found them the next day.
Today is Lilia’s very last day of middle school ever. Her 8th grade graduation is tomorrow. Today is her last in service day of school. Jess is so sad dropping Lilia off. Jess sent her first born off to her very last day of middle school. The next time Jess drops Lilia off it will be at high school. Lilia’s graduation is not until tomorrow. Today is Lilia’s last academic day of school. Jess can’t believe that this day has come. Jess came to home depot because she will finish the bathroom this week. They have been doing it themselves. It is taking quite a while and is low on the priority list. Jess wants to finish it this week. On the way to home depot Jess remembered when she had Lilia. Jess was pregnant at 17 and had Lilia at 18. Even something as simple as calculating how old Jess would be when Lilia was 10. Jess feels like everyone does that when you first have a kid. Jess has always known that when Lilia graduates high school she will be 36. Jess was thinking about all the memories of Lilia. It dawned on Jess that she is 32. Lilia only has 4 more years left of school. 18 year old Jess thought that that moment was so far away. However it is here and not so far away. It was a blink of an eye. Jess will be a mess tomorrow at Lilia’s graduation. Jess already feels it. Jess is not a crier. (I already knew that. She fake cries all the time but no actual tears come out.) In The last 2 years Jess has gotten more emotional because she realizes more how beautiful life is. Everything is making Jess emotional. Even some movies Jess watches are making her emotional. Jess hates watching people cry because it is so annoying. Jess can’t believe that she is here and that this is happening. It goes by in the blink of an eye and then it is over. Jess still has so much time left. Jess is going to focus on the bathroom because it is getting out of control and is sad.
Jess is wearing Landen’s crocs because they were the only shoes she could find and they fit her. Kyson and Kaden’s shoes are too big. Jess wants to do a retro curvy strip across the bathroom wall. Jess is going to do 5 colors that complement each other and go with the theme. Jess doesn’t know how this will turn out. Jess is winging this. Chris had to come and save the day because they don't take apple pay. After Chris dropped the little kids off at school he came and met Jess at home depot.
Jess doesn’t have too much time because Lilia has a minimum day. The guys are working on the ADU today. Lilia has a minimum day since it is the very last day of school. Jess doesn’t have too much time. The rest of the kids are not out of school today. It is not their last day of school. They have a whole week left of school. They are on a very different schedule. They still have a solid week and a half. Today is Lilia’s last academic day. Tomorrow is her graduation. The following day is when Lilia leaves on her 8th grade trip to washington dc/new york. Jess is excited for Lilia but also nervous. Jess finished all of the cabinet doors and put the paint away. However she forgot a door so she had to put everything back out.
Jess is going to attempt the very first line of the bathroom. The wall is just so plain. Jess wants a little something to go across. Her vision is for it to go up the wall and over the other wall above the light fixture. There is so much space. Jess doesn’t know. She is going to completely wing this. Jess needs to finish off the wall paint. Jess ended up sticking with the darker pepto bismol color on one wall, and the lighter one on the other 2 walls. Jess went back and forth but she decided to try it like that. If she hates it she will repaint it. Jess does hate it but she didn’t want to repaint it and then she liked the contrast. They will see it with the strip on it. The strip will add another element.
Jess just came to Lilia’s school to pick her up. Yesterday they had a picnic outside for lunch. At some point in the day Lilia realized she was missing her airpods. She doesn’t know at what point she lost them. Lilia thinks she lost them somewhere out in the huge grass area. They checked lost and found but no one turned them in. They are hoping they are in the tall grass area. They are not catching a signal through the find my iphone setting. They are still not connecting. It is not looking good. They found them. Jess is shocked. They were buried in a patch of grass. That is a miracle. They were exactly where Lilia’s phone said they were. Jess can’t believe it. What a way to kick off summer. Jess is shook. Jess knew they could do it. Jess is so happy.
Addie has cheer today. Today is going to be a crazy day for Addie. Addie has cheer, then straight to dance for pictures. Landen got his hair repermed yesterday. Jess is confident about it this time because they cut it shorter which Jess loves. The guy that they take Landen to get his hair permed. The guy is so amazing that they started taking the rest of the kids to get their hair cut from him. Chris started getting his haircut from him. This was a really good find. The downside is that he only works 3 days a week so you have to plan for those days. Those days are the days that they have soccer. Landen goes from getting his hair freshly permed straight to soccer practice. Jess feels like it isn’t good but they don’t have any other options. This week their soccer schedule has completely changed because it is the end of the season. Jess feels like it will stick better this time because Landen wore a bonnet to bed last night. Jess is going to get Landen one for himself. Everyone should wear them. Landen isn’t going to practice and sweating it out and he is protecting his hair at night. Landen just has Jess’s hair texture which never has held a curl. Jess got a perm once or twice but it didn’t stick. It went straight immediately. That is exactly what Landen’s did. Jess thinks it also might be a hair texture thing. Even to this day Jess’s curls won’t last all day. It is flat by the end of the day. Even if Jess puts certain products in it it still doesn’t hold like others do.
Mango has been extremely happy. His beard isn’t black, his appetite is back and he is eating normally. Mango started dribbling from the side when eating. The lump has gotten bigger. (Well you decided to stop all meds and let nature take its course. Nature is taking its course.) His mouth is open on the side that has the lump. Jess doesn’t know why. The lump is getting bigger. However Mango is really happy and in good spirits. Mango is eating normal. Jess doesn’t know what to do. (How about going back to the vet and resuming the meds?) They are taking it day by day. Mango is happy and that is all Jess cares about.
Addie has flight school today. It teaches how to do lifts in cheer. Jess isn’t a seasoned cheer mom yet. Then they have to go straight to her dance dress rehearsal.

2024.05.29 05:07 Lostniffin21 Me and you

Poet 1: In shadows deep, your words do hide, Veiled in darkness, where truths collide. Empty echoes of your rhyme, Ticking down like wasted time.
Poet 2: You wield your pen like a blunt-edged sword, Clumsy verses, meanings blurred. Yet in your haste to strike a blow, You miss the depths where true words flow.
Poet 1: Your flowery prose, a mere disguise, Hiding fears and hollow lies. True strength lies not in length or art, But in the fire within the heart.
Poet 2: Your fiery boasts, mere sparks that fade, Lost in the light of truths conveyed. For words well-chosen, strong and clear, Outlast the rage, dispel the fear.
Poet 1: Then let our words, like arrows fly, And pierce the veil where shadows lie. For in this duel of minds and might, We'll find the dawn beyond the night.
Poet 2: Agreed, let passion guide our hand, And carve our truths upon the sand. For in the end, it's not the fight, But the wisdom gained that brings the light.

2024.05.29 05:03 primoclouds Did ideology fuel mass murder in communist states during the second half of the 20th Century?

The extensive use of mass murder under communist regimes from the 1950s onwards is commonly attributed to a combination of ideological extremism, political consolidation, and efforts to eliminate perceived threats to the regime.
These regimes, inspired by Marxist-Leninist principles, often employed systematic violence to achieve and maintain control, leading to some of the most significant instances of mass murder in modern history.
Given the documented atrocities and mass murders committed under various 20th-century communist regimes, how can one reconcile the ideological goals of communism with the historical reality of these human rights violations?
Methodologies for Determining Figures
Estimating the figures for mass murders under these regimes involves archival research, demographic analysis, and eyewitness accounts. Historians and demographers analyze population censuses, government records, and other documents to estimate the number of deaths.
Ideological Extremism and Political Control
Communist regimes, particularly in China and the Soviet Union, adhered to a rigid interpretation of Marxist-Leninist ideology, which justified extreme measures to achieve and preserve a classless society. The resulting political purges, forced collectivization, and cultural revolutions were marked by widespread violence and mass murder.
The Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution in China
Mao Zedong's Great Leap Forward (1958-1962) aimed to rapidly transform China from an agrarian society into a socialist industrial power. However, this policy led to catastrophic results, including widespread famine. The Chinese government’s forced collectivization of agriculture and ill-conceived industrial policies caused the deaths of an estimated 30 to 45 million people due to starvation, forced labor, and state violence.
Source: (Dikötter, Frank. Mao's Great Famine: The History of China's Most Devastating Catastrophe, 1958-1962. Walker & Company, 2010)
Following the Great Leap Forward, Mao launched the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) to reassert his control and eliminate perceived enemies of the revolution. This period saw mass persecutions, public humiliations, and executions of intellectuals, party officials, and ordinary citizens. The death toll from the Cultural Revolution is estimated to be between 1 to 2 million people, with millions more suffering from torture, imprisonment, and other forms of persecution.

Suppression of Dissent and Ethnic Cleansing
Modern communist regimes have also targeted ethnic and religious groups, viewing them as threats to national unity and ideological purity. This has often resulted in systematic campaigns of violence and mass murder.
The Cambodian Genocide
Under Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979), Cambodia experienced one of the most brutal genocides of the 20th century. The regime sought to create an agrarian socialist society, leading to the forced evacuation of cities, mass executions, and widespread famine. An estimated 1.7 to 2 million people, nearly a quarter of Cambodia’s population, died due to execution, forced labor, starvation, and disease.

The Soviet Union’s Political Purges
Following Stalin's death, the Soviet Union continued to use mass murder as a tool for political control, albeit on a smaller scale. During the Great Purge (1936-1938), Stalin's regime executed approximately 700,000 people and sent millions to Gulag labor camps. This practice persisted under subsequent leaders, who continued to suppress dissent and eliminate political rivals through extrajudicial killings and forced labor.

Defector Stories and Accounts
Chen Guangcheng (China)
Chen Guangcheng, a blind Chinese civil rights activist, escaped house arrest in 2012 and fled to the U.S. embassy in Beijing. Chen had been an outspoken critic of the Chinese government's human rights abuses, particularly forced abortions and sterilizations under the one-child policy. His daring escape and subsequent asylum in the United States drew international attention to the plight of human rights defenders in China. Chen’s story underscores the risks faced by those who challenge the authoritarian regime.
Jang Jin-sung (North Korea)
Jang Jin-sung, a former North Korean propaganda poet, defected in 2004. In his memoir Dear Leader, Jang describes the extreme censorship and indoctrination within North Korea. He witnessed the brutal realities of life under the Kim regime, including public executions and pervasive hunger. Jang’s insider knowledge of the regime’s propaganda machine provides a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the North Korean state and the psychological manipulation it employs to maintain control.
Shin Dong-hyuk (North Korea)
Shin Dong-hyuk is one of the few known escapees from a North Korean political prison camp. His harrowing account, detailed in Blaine Harden's book Escape from Camp 14, reveals the unimaginable brutality of the Kwan-li-so camps. Shin was born in the camp and subjected to torture, forced labor, and starvation. His story highlights the extreme human rights abuses in these camps and the resilience of those who manage to escape.
Yeonmi Park (North Korea)
Yeonmi Park's escape from North Korea is detailed in her memoir In Order to Live. Park fled the oppressive regime in 2007 at the age of 13, crossing the frozen Yalu River into China. She endured human trafficking and witnessed the widespread starvation and public executions in North Korea. Park’s account sheds light on the severe restrictions on freedom and the extreme measures taken by North Koreans to survive and seek freedom.
Sophie Richardson (Cambodia)
Sophie Richardson, a Cambodian survivor of the Khmer Rouge regime, shared her experiences in various human rights forums. She recounted the forced evacuations, starvation, and mass executions carried out by the regime. Richardson's testimony contributes to the understanding of the Khmer Rouge’s genocidal policies and the long-lasting impact on Cambodian society. Her stories are vital for documenting the atrocities and ensuring that the victims' voices are heard in the quest for justice.
Conclusion
The use of mass murder under communist regimes from the 1950s onwards is a testament to the extreme measures these regimes were willing to employ to achieve and maintain their ideological and political goals.
Rooted in Marxist ideology, which emphasizes the necessity of a proletarian revolution and the establishment of a classless society, these regimes viewed violence as a legitimate and necessary tool to eradicate class enemies and secure their vision of socialism.
This ideological justification for violence led to policies of forced collectivization, political purges, and systematic repression of ethnic and religious groups, along with an enforced atheism and religious uniformity that targeted believers as potential threats to the state's control. Forced collectivization, inspired by Marxist principles of communal ownership, often resulted in widespread famine and death. Political purges, aimed at eliminating counter-revolutionaries and ensuring ideological purity within the party, led to mass executions and imprisonment. Additionally, systematic violence against ethnic and religious groups, perceived as obstacles to socialist unity, caused immense human suffering and loss of life.
The suppression of religious practices and promotion of state atheism were also integral to these regimes. Religious institutions were seen as competitors to state authority and were often brutally repressed.
Given the historical record of widespread atrocities and mass murders under 20th-century communist regimes, what arguments can be made to reconcile these actions with the ideological aspirations of communism, and how do modern day supporters of Marxist-Leninist ideology address these human rights violations?

2024.05.29 05:03 Ok_Paper_8030 Dizzy spells

Hello! Been on pregabalin for a few months now. Still increasing dosages at a slow rate. I recently (9 days go) increased my night dose from 50 mg to 75 mg. Now during the days and close to each dose I’m getting light dizzy spells. The don’t normally last for long and are more of a nuisance if anything. They seem to be caused by head movement. Ie: laying down in bed or backwards in general, if something is off peripherally and I’m wearing my glasses I may get one. Most of the time they’re random and for the most part they are decreasing very gradually? Though I had one which prompted me to write this.
To me this honestly feels like the lingering dizzies I had during the tail end of my concussion 2 years ago. It’s a little wave that washes over then just subsides. Any info or experiences would be appreciated.

2024.05.29 04:47 BB-biboo The Fog of Death

I faced death and triumphed.
The sun was rising over the island, and the sky was clear. It was the perfect day. Perfect for undertaking a considerable journey that wouldn't be without danger. The destination? The heart of the volcano in the center of the island. I needed that priceless crystal!
I saddled my faithful pteranodon, Blueberry, and we set off. The journey was long; Blueberry wasn't the most enduring, so we had to take several breaks along the way. Everything went smoothly until…
I saw it from the base of the volcano: an impenetrable wall of thick mist that encircled the summit. I tried to go through it, but it was so dense that my entire vision was consumed by gray and blur. I couldn't even see Blueberry or my own hands. This mist was unnatural. Unknowingly, Blueberry and I had entered the Fog of Death. We had to turn back, but how? I no longer knew which way was up or down, north or south. Straight ahead. If I went straight ahead, we would eventually get out! This fog seemed endless, and Blueberry was getting exhausted. We needed to land, but where could the ground be in this sea of gray? No choice, we had to descend.
As I frantically searched for solid ground, I found myself surrounded by absolute darkness. Floating stones appeared in this empty space as we moved through the void. What was this place that defied all logic? No, it was not a place, it was another world, the world below. Blueberry struggled more and more to move forward, but held on. If down wasn't the way, then we had to go up. Encouraging my faithful mount, a bit higher, a bit further. The gray fog returned, and we continued. A bit higher, just a bit higher, we're almost there!
Blueberry stopped abruptly. We had hit an invisible barrier. The top of the world, the Cursed Summit that had led to the downfall of so many creatures. I thought our end had come, but I managed to turn us around before the curse could touch us. I slowed Blueberry's speed to conserve his strength, and after a few minutes of searching for our way through that damn fog, the sweet caress of the light finally touched our skin. And that's how I, no, WE conquered the terrible Fog of Death, without my crystals, but with our lives intact.
TL;dr: I almost got Arked by getting lost in a glitched fog at the volcano's summit. While trying to land, I clipped through the world and ended up under the map. I got out somehow, hit the map boundary, and finally found my way just before my pteranodon ran out of stamina.

Review with pics! Library of Slime/Pink Sugar Slimey/Oh my Slime/Lime Slime co.
Today a look at four slime stores. Let's go!

The Library of Slime
https://preview.redd.it/ben8h6qut93d1.jpg?width=2769&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b183e6946cb0f465ddd29bd309821ae1527c472d
A wide range of prices from £4-12 depending on size and they also do bundles. The sizes range from 2-6oz. Beautifully designed waterproof labels.
The box was very well packaged with foam peanuts to protect the contents and the utterly stunning glass slime jars had nice honeycomb cardboard protectors around them. Even the charms were beautifully packaged with one being in a little canvas bag. Included was a mini lemon hand towelette (what a great touch!) a card telling me my packaging is eco friendly (lovely to know) and a cute bookmark care card with a super sweet note on it.
Upon unpacking, I found that Eliora (the head librarian 😁) had including an incredibly thoughtful gift in the way of delicious, high quality chocolate from a little company that shares my name! In the note it was mentioned that this was especially ordered just for me on account of being the first international customer 🥲 I was so deeply touched by this! It says a lot about the customer service and just how much care is put into customer satisfaction and enjoyment.
The library/book aesthetic of the entire web-store and the slimes/jars is just spectacular. I have so much appreciation for slime stores who clearly put so much thought and love into everything they do, it really is a magical experience. One thing I love about slime is how it affords us the ability to turn our thoughts off and indulge in something that taps straight into our primal pleasure center, allowing us to leave the stresses and responsibilities of the world for a while. The library theme and how beautifully it’s all pulled off ramps that experience up for me. All I’ve done so far is open the box and I already feel like I’ve taken a trip to a whimsical bookstore in some Harry Potter-esq universe! 😆 I think they may also be the only slime store to use glass jars which makes them feel very high end.

  • ARRAKIS (Sandfizz and coated clea scent: Usul's Awakening - Essential oil blend of cinnamon, clove, and fossilized amber)
The scent is beautiful with all the stated notes being apparent, reminding me of Christmas. I think it’s very special that these slimes are created with real essential oil! They aren’t cheap and you can really tell quite obviousy by the quality of the scent. The little book charm is so cute and a lovely touch!
I was worried I may have a struggle getting this slime out the jar but it slipped out into my hand nice and politely. It was a tiny bit sticky at first but a couple of puffs of activator sorted that out completely. The slime was very dense and super stretchy. It was very resistant but also very elastic and bouncy with no ripping. As you stretched you could feel the sand brush across your fingers but there was very little in the way of sand fallout. This has some unreal crackly sizzles when you inflate and then squeeze it. The crackles just keep coming and coming the more you squeeze. It does inflate a lot calling for a second jar for the excess.
The packaging is stunning and, equally, so is the slime!

  • FOURTH PLANET POTATOES (Thick and glossy with clay/scent: wax coated potatoes Martian Soil - Essential oil blend of ginger, orange, and pinyon pine)
Another beautiful, ultra classy scent. Again with all the notes mentioned coming through. The little pot of potatoes, rocks and soil is hilarious! The potatoes are insanely realistic and fun to squish! I thought they would be a bit dry on account of their size but they weren’t at all, they melted straight in to the base. An ultra thick, medium gloss slime which is perfectly activated. It has a super resistance and miles of stretch. It makes tons of huge, loud, deep pops and a ton of snaps and crackles. It inflated a lot and needed a new container. It is quite tricky getting slime back into the glass jars.
These look like real potatoes, they're utterly uncanny!!

  • GOLDEN CHOCOLATE EGG (glossy/snappy, rich chocolate scented.
This was plastic sealed, which is always a great idea to keep moisture in. The chocolate scent is really not a bad effort (chocolate is tricky) but a tiny tad perfumed and artificial. Strangely enough I was getting a slight hint of orange chocolate from it. It looks beautiful with its lovely rich shade and little pieces of gold leaf sparkling throughout. The label is incredible too! This slime is ultra glossy, jiggly, super stretchy and clicky. The more you play the thinner and jigglier it becomes. It has tons of snaps and crackles and some sharp bubble pops. I had a little trouble with tiny pieces sticking to my hands and did come at it with activator a few times. It was quite a tacky one to play with but not at all prohibitively so.

Every slimer has to try the Library of Slime at some point as it’s such a special and surreal experience! The essential oil scents were some of the classiest and most nuanced I have experienced, the textures are super entertaining, interesting and well made. I absolutely adored the clay potatoes which were mind bendingly realistic! The mini book charms are an amazing touch. This store really blurs the lines between art and sensory product.
I have a love/hate relationship with the glass jars. On one hand they are very beautiful and make the product feel so special, it wasn’t hard to get the slime out of them in the least. On the other it is harder to get the slime back in the jar. I was having issues with air pockets and the narrower mouths. Of course it inflated a fair bit so usually I just put them in new jars of my own but I loved the aesthetic of the library jars and really wanted to get some slime back in there. I very tied because I wouldn’t want the library to swap to plastic but the glass does make things tricky.
All in all I can’t wait to see what's in the next restock and had SO much fun visiting the library's beautiful and profoundly whimsical little world! We are always seeking for a new and novel experience when it comes to slime and this provides just that! 9.9/10
...............

Pink Sugar Slimey
£11-13 for 7oz. Came very well packaged in super cute pink heart and white foam chips. Included is little organza bag with care card, activator and delicious lychee hard candy. The labels are not waterproof.

  • HORCHATA CREAM (T&G, scent: horchata- cinnamon rice milk)
The scent is incredible. Very creamy with a waft of beautiful warm cinnamon. A chewy, stretchy slime full of clicks, crackles and loud pops. It was low resistance and on the loose/sticky side and I had trouble thickening it up with activator.
https://preview.redd.it/v1x6s4ggw93d1.jpg?width=5524&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94d20a125bdf99c94293e371f48745800fe90ede

  • TRES LECHE (snow softie + 2oz clear, scent: tres leches cake - vanilla sponge cake soaked in milk, heavy cream & condensed milk, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon)
A beautiful, scent with notes of cream, vanilla and cake. I got excited and completely missed the 2oz of clear topper at first. My apologies! Incidentally the base was very lovely without it. Very fluffy, a little jiggly and inflating with lots of resistance. I added the topper after playing with the base. The topper also smells incredible, like a creamy milk and made a huge difference to the finished texture. It activated the snow and made it puff up and inflate much more. This was the loveliest puffy snow creme and had a ton of soft crackly sizzles.
Before and after the topper.

  • ESQUITES (thick & glossy semi floam, scent: buttered popcorn)
The scent is SUPER buttery! It really does smell absolutely and ridiculously delicious and so much like hot, buttered popcorn it’s crazy! This is again super clicky, stretchy and full of pops and crackles, but I find the base a little bit loose and sticky again with very low resistance.

  • PAN DULCE DOUGH (wood glue clay, scent: pan dulce/sweet bread)
The scent is just like bread dough with a little sweetness. Stretchy and moist with clicks that get louder the more you inflate. This is lovely and plush and very inflatable with a firm jiggle, soft and medium bubble pops and lots of snaps and crackles. Great soft sizzles when you deflate. As you play, it gets a lot looser and fairly tacky.

  • FLAN SOUFFLÉ (wood glue slay + 1oz clear, scent: flan)
Another fantastic scent with notes of rich caramel. An ultra stretchy, moist and jiggly slay which has a ton of bubble pops, big air bubbles, snaps and crackles, plus very loud clicks. Again a loose texture which is tricky to activate futher.
https://preview.redd.it/ewdm2mv4x93d1.jpg?width=8288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0761c38c0cfc7a00d67c92bc46dca6ba32d75806
These are some of the most incredible and utterly delicious scents I have come across on my slime spree, they go so well with the themes which are all so well thought out. Clearly, a lot of love and attention go into these slimes.
Personally I found them to be a little on the loose side and a bit tricky to activate. It can be hard to ascertain whether this is by design or due to the warmer weather now we have hit the summer months. I always go for the fastest international shipping to minimise issues with melting and the slimes go in the fridge for 15-30 minutes prior to play. I am very much on board with Momo, Pilot, OG and others who slightly overactive their slime to avoid this. While I enjoy the odd jiggly slay, I prefer my slimes to be on the more holdable side so this is something I will keep in mind in future with Pink Sugar.
Nonetheless these scents were spectacular and the thicker textures lovely! Waterproof labels would be a strong preference of mine, I did manage to get slime on one or two of these labels while photographing and that is always a real shame. 9.1/10
......

Oh My Slime (Singapore)
Came with borax, a care card and a couple of candies. Slimes come in 6 or 8oz for between around $10-14. The jars have anti leak inner caps which is a great shout. I hate opening the box to discover slime leaks and this keeps things so much tidier! The labels are nicely designed and waterproof.

  • TURKISH DELIGHT (juice jelly, scent: Turkish Delight)
The scent is very subtle but a super pleasant sweet rose Turkish delight. This slime was very sticky and under-activated. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really get it to activate and it remained so. This is a shame as it looked like it would be quite lovely and I adore rose flavoured Turkish delight.
https://preview.redd.it/ls76r151y93d1.jpg?width=5701&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3c6b86cd9ca7d7dddcf0cb175856a71535c7cd7

  • OLIVE OIL (thick water, scent: tea-light)
This slime had a very pleasant subtle tea sent that I found very fresh. This was a fantastic water slime on the thicker side that was well activated and left very little in the way of residue on my play surface, less so than Momo’s. It was jiggly and fun and made excellent bubbles. I thought the whole theme and concept was super cute and well done. This is one of my favourite water slimes to date!
https://preview.redd.it/y9n2nia8y93d1.jpg?width=1348&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69c8470ea11d9e386050a390051eb708d169d2e6

  • MAYONNAISE (T&G, scent: Yakult)
This had a pleasant mild Yakult scent but sadly had completely deactivated so I didn't proceed.

  • TOOTHPASTE - Colgate (t&g, scent: fresh minty toothpaste)
The scent is a lovely sweet mint. Frustratingly this slime had also turned to glue.
https://preview.redd.it/vuwropjey93d1.jpg?width=3995&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e051a6329f56a23db7349421b3978c689bc54a1a

  • GREEN TEA (gummy, scent: green tea)
The scent is very pleasant with a hint of sweet green tea. However, in a frustrating and somewhat comedic twist of fate, it is pretty drastically over-activated and extremely rubbery and unyielding 😅 I would of course take this over drastically under-activated any day but this is all the way rubber. In fairness I don’t tend to stretch milky jelly textures so much as poke and fold for mega pops. It has big squelchy pokes and makes big, loud, snappy bubbles pops on account of being so firm and thick.
https://preview.redd.it/wdhxrcoly93d1.jpg?width=5937&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5952870a91b47b249631fe7353859df8b24ed2c
This was a pretty disappointing experience, more so than anything because the themes were great, the charms gorgeous, the colours and scents really beautiful and I could tell the textures were well made and at some point gorgeous. It would have been less disappointing if the quality of the slimes was low and the scents/aesthetics mediocre. I would have understood if all the slimes were all the way in one direction or the other activation-wise but it was super weird to get one perfect slime (water slime no less, a typically temperamental texture) and the rest either totally deactivated or wildly over-activated to the point of being unstretchable.
In light of this I am really scratching my head over giving Oh My Slime a rating that fairly represents their concoctions. I just got done reactivating slimes that arrived with me in a liquid state and it took a good 12 hours for them to settle into the consistency I like. Personally hate touching totally melted slime, it really gives me the ick which is amongst the many reasons why I have no wish to make my own slime. I keep my slime in a chiller so this is not typically an issue I commonly have as I go in with activator long before they turn back to glue. I would reactivate some of my favourites if they melted down slightly over time but I just lost heart for these sadly.
I hear from a friend that their slays and clays are much better. On this occasion 6/10 on account of the great water slime and all the other redeemable factors such as jars/designs/excellent scents but I only had one slime I could play with out of the whole batch so I don’t think I will return with any enthisiasm. MAYBE for another thick water slime.
............

Lime Slimes Company
Comes with care card and Borax. Waterproof labels with a lovely aesthetic. The jars are 8oz and priced from £12.15 to £15.39. Link to my previous review here.

  • WAY TO LIMEVILLE (DIY clay/snowfizz, lemon lime pound cake scented)
The scent is a lovely, sweet and creamy lime. The clay was nice, soft and moist and fun to squish. The base had melted quite badly and was extremely sticky and I had to add a great deal of activator to get it handleable again. It had sat around for a week after I received it via fast international shipping. During this period, it was kept in an air conditioned room and had been in the fridge for 15-20 minutes before play. I was able to bring it back to a handleable consistency, but it remained tacky. This is the reason why I really appreciate companies such as Pilot, Momo, and Slime Japan sending their slimes slightly over activated.
Other than the tackiness, it was a nice and puffy, inflatable snow fizz with plenty of soft sizzles, soft finger, pokes, and soft pops.
https://preview.redd.it/4vrlogvrz93d1.jpg?width=5827&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95baa8b8379cf8b040c355770b4dbfe4203fbe74

  • WHIPPED TIRAMEWSU FOAM (whipped foam texture, tiramisu scented with notes of ladies fingers biscuits, espresso coffee and cocoa powder)
All the notes of the scent mentioned come through but I find it a lit thin and lacking in richness. I love the tiramisu aesthetic with the brown “cocoa powder” which you dust on top of the slime. This was also under-activated and loose but less sticky, I ended up losing an entire pen’s worth of activator between this and the previous slime. Though the texture became a lot more handleable, it remains to have some tackiness. This was a puffy and jiggly texture with medium clicks that get louder as it inflates and soft/medium bubble pops. The resistance on the pulls is low and I can’t tell how much of that is by design and how much of that is because of the melting issue
https://preview.redd.it/tyheh3pa0a3d1.jpg?width=5560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87659a72e8f63e05f8a3f80c8de8b891d2cc0267

  • OUI STRAWBERRY WHOLE MILK FRENCH STYLE YOGHURT (T&G strawberry yoghurt scented)
A really beautiful sweet strawberry yoghurt scent with a hint of tartness. Frustratingly this had also melted and was the worst of the bunch, it was pretty much just glue. I was able to get this playable again but it took about 12 hours and some frustration. I had to add a lot of activator but this took it to a stage where it was both still sticky and rippy so I let it rest over night. The next day, with a little more working, it was closer to the intended texture (going off the Oui from my last order) but not quite perfect. Incidentally my other Oui which is a month old is still perfect and didn’t arrive melted (it is kept in a chiller at 50f.)
I don’t much like judging a slime that I have reconstituted nearly from scratch as it’s hard to know if it’s as the creator intended. That having been said, it is a very nice, creamy thickie with medium gloss. Lovely to pop and full of crackles. It has tiny bits of red flocking in it for a very pretty strawberry pulp effect.
Top left is how it arrived. Top right is where I managed to get it to with activator (still sticky by rippy.) Bottom left is after it rested overnight. Much better but still not quite as great as my previous Oui which I bought a month ago (an up to date picture of that on the bottom right.)
I am so tied over Lime Slimes. I love their scents and themes and when they are good they are great. However, this is not the first completely liquified slime I have received from them and it very much spoils the experience for me. Reading your reviews on this sub I see that I am not alone in having this issue with them but it seems to be quite hit and miss.
I know they come from California so I would hazard a guess that the issue happens during shipping due to the heat, I doubt these left them in this condition. I always pay for the fastest international shipping to prevent this issue occurring and most slimes arrive with me in 2-4 days. The only completely melted US slimes I have received have been from Lime Slimes, I’ve never had anything more than a slightly tacky surface that calls for a squirt of activator from other US companies. Once again, I can only reiterate how much I appreciate it when a slime leaves a store a little over-activated!
I hate rating slimes which are melted as it’s not really a representation of what the creator intended. I do love Lime's Oui line when not melted and may chance buying another one if a particularly interesting scent is released when mine dies but, ultimately, I won’t be returning to Lime Slimes Co. with any gusto, which is a real shame. I really feel drawn to them as I really love the themes, presentation, aesthetic and scents generally. However, it’s a very important factor to me that I receive my slimes in a play-ready condition as I hate having to reactivate them (to a texture that may not be quite right) and the feeling of sticky mess on my hands 6.5/10

Thank you for reading! I'll be back soon to review Audeez and more Mythical Mushbunny, Rodem and Momo! Feel free to give me a follow so you don't miss the review 🩵😊
