2024.05.14 02:02 Foxglove_185 I (F18) hate my father (M55) and I don't know what to do

I need advice, though this is partially to vent, I want to get my thoughts and feelings out there, so that maybe something someone says can help me. I (F18) live in my childhood home with my father (M55), mother (F50), sibling (NB14), sister (F21) and brother in law (M23). I get along great with everyone, except for my father. I've known my father, mother, and sister as long as I can remember, my sibling is 3 years younger than me, and we've known my brother in law for about 5 years.
In childhood, my father was never really present in our lives. He worked a normal job with normal hours, but when he got home all he did was watch TV. I remember this very distinctly as we were kicked off the TV at 5, when he came home. Even when he was off of the TV, he was distant and never really involved with us. Even when he did take one or more of us out, it was just to something we liked for a small amount of time, then we had to go to a hardware store or something with him for hours. All of us quickly learned to not accept his offers of going to McDonald's for a quick meal. He'd occasionally trick us, saying it was a reward for something, then drag us somewhere anyway.
His distant behavior became worse when his dad died, and his mother came to live with us. To make a long and horrible story short, she put me and my sibling through hell, bullying us about weight, appearance, behavior and anything you could ever think one would nitpick children for. This was when I was 13-14, and it left a lot of issues for myself and my sibling to deal with. At first he denied anything was happening, but then it got so bad I slipped to my therapist that I wanted to end my life, and he took me seriously after that. My father's mother was kicked out, but I was in rough shape.
Ever since then he has treated me like a fragile flower, always trying to say things like "You can always talk to your mom or I", but he knew this wasn't the case. I could never bring up anything with him as he would just tell me to go to mom, and never really supported me emotionally. He has depression and anxiety just like myself and my sibling, but unlike us he doesn't take his meds or go to therapy; he basically just doesn't do anything to improve himself.
But it really got bad when my sister graduated from high school and moved out. She had been with her boyfriend for about 3 years when they got engaged, and were married. This sent my father on a downward spiral. According to my mother, he had a bad drinking problem in the past, and had calmed down for a while, but this is when it started up again. My sister was always his obvious favorite; she looked like him, was athletic, smart, extroverted, and she had none of the mental issues he did. So her "leaving" him was very hard. He just couldn't deal with her growing up. I think it was partially because he never spent time with us, since after that he kept asking me to spend time with him, but at that point I had checked out of the relationship as much as he had.
He started spending more time in front of the TV. It really didn't help that he had an injury at work and had surgery on both of his shoulders, and he was being bullied when he did work. At this time, my mother had gotten a job to help pay for everything, and I was mostly home with my father, and he decided this meant I would do everything-all of the chores, cleaning up after him, cooking... everything my mom would normally do. They operated on his non-dominant shoulder first, so he could've helped, but no, he's just a poor helpless baby. I was 16 at the time, and also trying to learn to drive. His "driving lessons" consisted of him scolding me occasionally if I did something wrong, but not helping me learn at all.
I wanted to find a job, but between school and taking care of the house I was unable to. I got an allowance, but it was rather pitiful, and didn't even partially compensate me for the hours of endless work. Then there was an incident. My mom had told me to watch out for him when he'd been drinking, and I can easily tell when he was drinking. This was a day where I could tell he was drunk, but he came in asking for my help with something. He said that our truck was having issues and he wanted to look at the engine, so he asked me to help him wipe it off. I agreed. I went out with him, and my "helping" him was him watching while I wiped off the hood. Then he started to get angry.
I was focusing on the hood since he said he needed to lift it to look at the engine, but he told me to focus on the windshield. I was obiviously confused, but he grabbed another wiper and started to violently break apart the snow and wiping it off. I was still confused and kept wiping off the hood, but that made him more angry. He was moving in a way I knew would hurt him, but he was now raising his voice with me, angry and showing it. I started to dissociate, as that is my coping strategy, so I don't remember the exchange very well. All I know was there was a lot of swearing and yelling and calling me useless. Eventually he threw down his scraper and stormed off to the house.
I remember I was cold, sad, and I wanted to cry and run off into the woods never to be seen again. I wanted to scream, sob, punch a wall; but I did none of that. All I did was stand there for a while, then remember it was garbage day and take the garbage cans down. When I got inside, he was in his chair, watching TV, whistling to a song. I went to my room and cried. I hated myself, him, and the world so much, and that day I broke a streak of almost a year of self harming. I wanted to do more, but my dog helped me not to.
I wish I had let him go. I wish I had let him drive. At that point I still had some slight love for him, and that made me want to prevent his death. I honestly regret that now. He often got mad and snapped at mom, but it was never directed at me before. I knew that mom, with all the stress she was going through with her job and being both the house- maintainer and breadwinner wouldn't be able to handle that he had snapped at me. So I downplayed it, just telling her what happened and she said he probably either wanted fast food or alcohol, both of which he is addicted to. I still haven't gotten an apology.
I'm going to skip over some time here, as honestly his behavior is too frequent and habitual to mention every frustrating thing, so I will fast forward to the worst of it. A few months before my sister's wedding, it got really bad. He had yelled at my mom a few times, and every time we just took the dogs into our rooms, and we had gotten door knobs with locks specifically for this sort of thing. It happened often enough that all it took was a text to the other, and my sibling and I knew what to do. The worst happened on March 23rd, 2023. I don't know how it started; we never knew, but it didn't matter. The worst part is, my sibling was stuck in the bathroom when it started, right next to where my dad was screaming at my mom. They can't use that bathroom now when he's home because of this.
All I knew was I got the text and got our 2 dogs in my room. All I could hear (I was on the 2nd floor and this happened on the 1st) was how my mom was a bad person, getting the kids to hate him, she was a female dog, etc. Again it's a little fuzzy, but it got worse when he got to the 2nd floor. When you get to the top of the stairs, to the right there is their bedroom, and down a short hallway there is a bathroom and 2 bedrooms, one being my sister's old room. He went in to their room, and all I can remeber is him screaming over and over, "And you can just go F YOURSELF", all while slamming their bedroom door.
He did this for a while. All I know is that I, my mom, and my sibling all recorded it, but I am not willing to listen through that recording to figure out how long he was yelling at the top of the stairs, but the recording is 10 minutes and 47 seconds. Eventually his slamming of the door got too forceful, he broke the whole door frame, and the door ended up wedged in the staircase. He knocked himself out in this process somehow, and was out for a while. When his friend came (mom had called him), he even tried to fight him, but he was put into bed. He says he doesn't remember this whole night.
There was an intervention after, with mom and his friend, and he agreed to stop, or at least slow down. He didn't. There were some more screaming fits, and the last major one was in the beginning of December. But now, instead of screaming, he'll just get mad and snap at mom for nothing. I hate seeing her cry, and this affected my sibling and I as well. My sibling hates him, and is just waiting for him to die. They felt conflicted about this at first, but after father corrected himself after using their correct pronouns and made a comment around them about how anyone who's trans is just mentally ill, they lost the tiny sliver of affection they had for him. I have done my best to be a good older sister, assuring them it's normal, and helping them come to terms with their feelings. Now they just say we really are just waiting for him to die, and they feel nothing towards this idea.
Father has gone to therapy once, after a screaming fit where I wrote down how much him doing this made me want to die, but he says he doesn't want to go back. He continues to drink, and to not take his meds. My reason for this post was yesterday. Mother's Day.
Despite both mom and I working later than him, he still does minimal house work. If he does anything, it is to empty the dishwasher into the dish drainer, then bug mom for praise. Mom, sibling and I do almost all of the housework. I thought maybe he'd pitch in on mother's day, but no. I told mom she was not allowed to do any housework, and I did all of the laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc. The only thing I couldn't do was cook. But then, as I'm cleaning off the countertop and the table, father walks in and asks mom, "So what are you planning on doing?"
I wanted to punch him. He had been drinking, too. He'd been at least slightly drunk since noon. But HOW DARE HE. I think that was when I lost all hope for him. Then mom said, "I was just gonna leave it to you", and he had the audacity to look surprised, and even a little mad. He then walked away, I think to get stuff, but I don't care. I looked at mom, and she had the same baffled, amazed, and angry look I assume was on my face. But she looked a little sad, too. He couldn't do even this one thing on his own, on mother's day.
I had been angry with him for a long time, but at that it just grew into this huge raging fire. I hate him. With every bit of me. His disrespect and unwillingness to fix himself made me want to scream at him, give him a taste of what he gave us. But I couldn't. For the rest of the evening, mom couldn't just sit there; he needed to know the temperature and time things needed to cook, and she was just so frustrated.
Everything's at a boiling point. I want to tell him off, tell him how I feel, how much he's hurt everyone, and just how much I hate him. But I know I can't. If I do, he'll take it out on mom. Mom's too stressed already, as her job is hard and she's saving to separate if needed. She won't divorce him, since he could take the house, though they are both on the title, and she doesn't want to risk it. He's unhealthy as it is, my sibling is right; we really are just waiting for his liver to give out from all of the alcohol. But still, I am having a hard time living in the same house.
Sorry for the length, I get long winded when emotional. I'm just ignoring him for now, but I feel like my emotions could explode any day. Please give any advice you have. Thank you all.
TL;DR!: My father who is abusive has made me reach my limit, but I can't say anything. If I do, he'll yell at my mom, and I don't want that. I can't move out and she doesn't want to risk a divorce, in fear of losing everything, what do I do?

2024.05.14 02:02 Electrical-Ad-2922 I think my future MIL hates me - What do I do?

So for context -my partner and I have been dating for half a decade. Our relationship is strong and we are enjoying our time together immensely - he's the love of my life, my favourite laughing partner and just a really special human being I'm honoured to know so deeply. My MIL came accross as a strong personality but seemed delightful and embraced me at first. Over the last few years it has become suspected she has a personality disorder with her "incidents" and behaviour. My partner and I are planning on getting engaged this year and have had this timeline for a very long time. While this should be a very exciting time in my life - I am instead feeling worried, stressed, and down. This MIL is constantly bringing up the concepts of engagement, weddings, and babies at get-togethers which sure is fine but the thing is it feels like she makes an effort to leave me out of it. My partners brother is also proposing this year to his partner which have been dating a few years less than us (super happy for them). My partner also has another sibling that isn't planning on proposing anytime soon and is younger. I have a really good relationship with everyone else in the family including the father (says i'm like a daughter), the siblings, and the partners (we have become friends). My MIL is not only making the maintenance of these relationships hard, but she is making me feel like abolute crap on a consistent basis at family events with how she blatenly treats me poorly compared to others. Here's some examples:
-When the other sibling's partners arrive an excited voice and questions about work/life are had. Meanwhile, when I arrive it’s a short embrace with very little effort/interest in my life anymore unless it has to do with something that impacts my partner like whether we are going to my house this weekend.
Efforts I have made over the past few years that I think qualify me as a good DIL /her response:
Most recently:
Some of these things above I have cried, laughed, or both about. There are many more things she has done that have hurt me these past few years of our relationship which I haven't mentioned above by myself and my partner thought were unintentional at the time and not necesary to address. She has love bombed me before which has confused me and made me think i'm over reacting to feeling like she wasn't treating me well/ doesn't like me -but most recently its gotten to the point where I am crying when I get home from every family event because of how prominent her efforts to exclude and bellttle me are.
Me and my partner have great communication and have agreed on the implementation of boundaries such as increased distance if her behaviour progresses etc. and he has offered to say something but I am scared. No matter what, I will have to attend family get to-gethers and I am marrying into this family that I really do love. I get along with the siblings partners so well it's such a shame that her presence leads to her making me feel poorly around them because of how she acts/things she says. I have also suggested she gets more mental support but right now shes attending therapy alone where I don't think she is fully honesst about her incidents/treatment of others. My partner knows she is unwell and we are both upset and tired of this being a thing. I definitely don't want to be overly embraced and put on a pedestal but I think what shes doing currently takes more effort than just acknowledging me and treating me with an ounce of the kindness she gives the others. I am scared to get engaged after her reaction to hearing we have been ring shopping and I am also more scared about the concept of a wedding or having kids as I find she has a tendency to be controlling and I don't want my future kids to see their mom being treated like this or possibly be treated the same. That of course made my partner upset and now don't know where to go from here (hence me referring to reddit) but I know a life with this is not a happy one for me or my partner and I don't deserve it but I love the family and I do love her for who she may be when shes mentally more well and her perseverence in life.

2024.05.14 02:02 TyMcDuffey Lessons on leadership, decision-making, and human nature from the life of King Solomon of Israel

Hello, I am researching different Kings of history, including what they're remembered for, their leadership traits, information about their lives, the difficulties they faced, things to take away from their lives, all in the name of becoming more kingly in my own life.
Today, I'd like to share knowledge on King Solomon of Israel, remembered for his wisdom, wealth, and building projects. Solomon's reign, chronicled in biblical texts, provides several lessons on leadership, decision-making, and human nature.

King Solomon

Solomon, son of David, reigned as king of Israel for about 40 years in the 10th century BCE. His reign is often considered the peak of Israel's power and wealth.
Solomon is most celebrated for his exceptional wisdom, granted by God in response to his request for discernment to govern Israel rightly.
His wisdom is exemplified by the famous judgment between two women claiming to be the mother of a child, where Solomon's clever solution revealed the truth.
This event is detailed in the Bible in the First Book of Kings, chapter 3, verses 16-28. It involves two women who came before King Solomon, both claiming to be the mother of a baby.
To resolve the dispute, Solomon proposed a drastic measure: he suggested that the baby be cut in two, with each woman receiving half of the child. This proposal was a test to reveal the true feelings and intentions of the claimants.
One woman immediately agreed to the division, arguing that if she could not have the baby, then neither woman should. However, the other woman, driven by her maternal instinct and true love for the child, begged Solomon to give the baby to the other woman instead, thus sparing the child's life.
Recognizing the genuine concern and love of the second woman for the baby, Solomon declared her the true mother and awarded her custody of the child, exposing the truth through this clever test.
This story is often cited as an example of Solomon's wisdom and his ability to perceive the deeper truths of human nature.

Wisdom in Governance

Solomon's wisdom extended into governance, diplomacy, and economics. His ability to forge alliances through marriages and treaties expanded Israel's influence.
Solomon's most noted alliance was through his marriage to the daughter of the Pharaoh of Egypt. This marriage was a political strategy to secure a powerful ally to the southwest of Israel, helping to stabilize his kingdom's borders and increase trade routes.
Solomon is credited with constructing the First Temple in Jerusalem, a monumental project that not only served as a religious center but also as a symbol of unity and strength for Israel.
Solomon's life was not without its challenges. His numerous alliances, while politically astute, led to domestic unrest and spiritual deviation, as seen in his later years when his adherence to his wives' religions led to idolatry, drawing criticism and divine displeasure.
Here are a few of my takeaways from Solomon's life for personal growth:

The Importance of Wise Decision-Making

Solomon's request for wisdom over wealth or power illustrates the value of prioritizing discernment and understanding in leadership roles.

The Balance of Power and Humility

Solomon's early humility before God highlights the strength in recognizing one's limitations and seeking guidance beyond oneself.

The Consequences of Compromise

His later years serve as a cautionary tale about the dangers of compromising core values and beliefs for short-term gains or pleasures.

Applying Solomon's Lessons

Consider the balance Solomon maintained between wisdom, wealth, and spiritual devotion in his better years.
Emulate his quest for wisdom and understanding in your personal and professional endeavors.
As you reflect on Solomon's life today, think about the areas in your own life where you can apply his lessons of wisdom, leadership, and integrity.
However, remember the pitfalls of compromise and the importance of staying true to your core values and beliefs despite the temptations that success and power may bring.

2024.05.14 02:01 better_butter_ AITAH for not being 100% there for a grieving cousin?

I pondered for a while about writing this. I have absolutely nobody I can share it with, so I come to strangers.
June (38F) and I (39F) are cousins and best friends. We grew up together and we were the sister that neither of us had. We have loved each other, been there for each other through thick and thin, and have had the best of times together. But, like every close bond, ours has had challenges, and right now things are pretty awful.
Some backstory: June got married very young, and for personal reasons she and her husband decided to adopt. Their child is now grown and independent, and she has her freedom and time to rediscover herself and her interests. I, on the other hand, am a mom of a toddler and my life is pretty messy at this point. I did feel our relationship get a little strained since I became a mom. I believe it was because she kind of lost me for a bit, I became less available and wasn't able to talk a lot. I decided not to do anything about it at that time since I felt that my sensitivity (I did have a mild form of PPD, I later discovered) might be distorting my perception of things. But it felt like she avoided me when she indeed had the opportunity to see me, choosing to do other more fun things instead. Or she would make plans to see me and the baby but the venues and times were usually not appropriate for me and I would have to decline. I wasn't feeling good about any of this but I would rationalize - nobody needs to accommodate me and my specific situation, because they didn't choose to have a baby, I did.
Anyway, June and her husband drifted apart through the years. They do love and respect each other, they have a child and a business together, an overall good life, but the spark had gone. So it happened that June fell in love with someone else, and it turned out to be mutual. And they had an affair that lasted a while. I don't judge her about it, it's her thing, and her husband has probably done it too, this post isn't about that. The affair got toxic and she did try to break it off. It was on and off for a while and then something awful happened. Her lover (also married, a known member of our community) was involved in a horrific car accident. He first went into a coma and then passed away. For all I know, I was the only person that knew about the affair.
She was out of state when it happened. We weren't in a position to talk about this a lot. She was with her husband, and I was rarely alone. Most of the times we would text about it, I'd ask her if she wanted to talk about it, and she'd say no. Sometimes because she wasn't alone, and other times she said she didn't want to talk about it. And I chose not to pressure her, because how people react to grief is very specific and very different. I tried to tell her I am there for her whenever she wants to talk about it. Bear in mind that I live with a toddler and a husband who works from home, so I am rarely alone. I'd call her when I'd go grocery shopping, or tell her I'm going out and will be out for a while, giving her an opportunity to talk if she wants to. She very rarely did. And I know this because I went through our chat history, in order to check myself and how good of a friend I am.
The day of the funeral, I told her I'm there if she needs me. She lashed out at me, saying I am actually not there for her. I said I'm sorry that I can't be there, explained that it is difficult to be there in the way she'd need me since I also have to hide how much she needs me from everybody. And I also have a small child. It hurt me but I let it go. She was grieving and angry and had nobody to talk to. Things seemingly got better in the meantime. We had more opportunities to talk about how she is feeling. We also had daily communication like sharing funny memes and things that make us laugh. Not many opportunities to see each other. I work on different projects that take up a lot of my time. She is also very busy with her business and traveling, so there simply weren't many situations. And honestly, I stopped initiating meetings with her one on one since, as I said before, she would either have something else already planned, or would be away on a business trip, and I started feeling like me asking would always end with a refusal on her side.
We met recently at an event that we both enjoyed and had a great time, or so I thought. I texted her a couple of days later wanting to talk to her but I got a response that really hurt me, but also made me think if I am in the wrong. Not to go into detail, but she accused me of not being there for her grieving process. She said that having a child was not an excuse. She also implied that I was never fully there to help her get out of her toxic affair - I'd disagree but whatever. And in the end she added a couple of situations where I didn't react properly which to me were totally random. I decided not to get in a texting argument - again, I reminded her that to be fully there I also had to lie and make up situations. She said that I should have, and concluded her text with telling me that she doesn't want to talk to me. I told her we can talk when she feels like it, to which she replied that she will probably never want to talk to me again about serious matters. That we can keep our communication superficial like it lately is (which I would also say is a difference in perception) but that she is aware of it and that she is far from OK with it.
Since that last text I am in a grieving process of my own. I feel for her, I know her aggression is a substitute for sadness. I know it is unfair when we lose someone, and we need to have someone "to blame". But I also feel like I might have been treated unfairly. If she feels like she has lost me now, I feel like I have lost her a few years ago - when I had my issues with a small baby and undiagnosed PPD, and husband and in laws that I couldn't stand at the time. And I also feel stupid for never sharing that before with her. And I think sharing it now would just completely destroy our relationship, if there is a relationship still.
So, AITAH? And WIBTA if I told her how I feel?

2024.05.14 02:01 cubonesdeadmother Am I being too forgiving?

First time in my life I have dealt with this type of situation, and currently have nobody to talk to about it, so I appreciate you all in advance.
It happened about 6 months ago, right on the eve of our third anniversary as a couple. We had just moved together across the country months earlier; she was starting a Masters program, and i up and moved my life out here with no prospects to be with her and to support her.
Her being in a Masters program, and a very social person, she immediately had a group of friends out here. Me being in the process of finding a job, and having no connections here, I had a very different experience to start with. She was so happy to be a student again, loved hanging out with her classmates all the time, and our social life essentially revolved around her Masters program life, of which I was (and still am) merely an outsider.
Well one night, she was out with her friends, just blocks away from our place. I was home by myself. She got back after 4 AM and came to bed. The next day, she confessed to me that she had hooked up with a girl in her class at the party they were at. Honestly I just wanted to leave and not deal with her at all in that moment, but I just had to know - had they just kissed? No - they penetrated and effectively slept with each other.
I was stunned and confused. On one hand, for some reason her cheating on me with a woman felt like it stung slightly less than another man. But at the same time, she and I had long talked about her bisexuality, and it was part of her that she took seriously and wanted people to respect. So in that sense, I reasoned in my head, there really was no difference if it was a man or a woman - she is attracted to both just the same.
Having just moved across the country into our first place together, I felt like I was in a terrible place. If this had happened back in the city where we first had met and spent our first 2.5 years, I don't know if I would have stayed with her. But a lot went into my decision to move here with her - it was a leap of faith and a sign of how strongly I felt about our relationship. I felt, in that moment, that I basically couldn't just end the relationship there, now living by myself in a new city with no connections and still job searching.
She apologized to be over and over, and the fact that it was a drunken mistake rather than a full on fling did ease the pain slightly. But I have been really struggling with the feelings around it since then. I went back to therapy to try and help with it, and have had some logistical issues that have led to me not making the progress I would have wanted.
But I think part of what I have really struggled with, is her complete lack of doing anything to make amends or to actively reflect on her behavior. I said to her at the time; clearly you have some confusing feelings here that would lead you to do something like this. You need a professional to help you walk through those feelings and better understand why you would do this to us - you need to go back to therapy. She agreed at the time, but has not made any effort to do so, in spite of me bringing it up multiple times.
You would think maybe she stopped partying with her friends, right? Not at all. In fact, she would (and still does) stay out past 2 drinking and hanging out with them regularly. And while I don't begrudge her spending time with friends, I have told her that her being out that late with these same people gives me great stress and just reminds me of these fresh wounds. In spite of that, she hasn't slowed up whatsoever.
My point here is that I almost feel like I have been too forgiving, or let her off the hook to easy. If I could re-live my reaction to this news, I would have been much more cut and dry about what I would need her to do to earn back my trust and keep me from leaving. Instead, I feel like I have just let her continue her life as usual while I am stuck here holding these terrible feelings. Can I approach her with these thoughts now, 7 months later? Or do I become an asshole for holding her mistake over her?
I just feel so isolated here with these thoughts. Every time she is with her friends drinking I cannot help but have my mind drift into ways she might betray me again.

2024.05.14 02:01 Medium-Roll-9529 Seeking advice: I feel like I have to compete for my boyfriends attention with his female best friend

Okay so, I'll try keep this simple and to the point. I will state tho that he is genuinely a very kind individual.
Basically I have been seeing this guy for almost four months, it started slow and got very hot and firey after a month, but early on I started noticing issues with his best friend, a woman, the first thing she said that gave me alarm bells was she said "I don't get on with women prettier than me". After that, she would regularly make points about how close the two of them where (less than a month into our relationship) get upset when he didn't respond to her messages when me and him hung out etc, when she is down and anxious for whatever reason he becomes her carer, he will do anything for her, and when he doesn't do it at the drop of a hat she gets annoyed. I have tried reaching out to her to perhaps improve the situation to no avail.
After 3 months of holding different things back about her behaviour, I was out in the same pub as him one night and went over to say hello, she seen me first and had the most disgusted look on her face, then quickly got everyone in their group to move away from me. I got annoyed and expressed to him (on a different day we were both sober) how I don't think she likes me, and that she has said and done this different things to deter me from seeking a relationship with him and it felt like he had feelings for her, that i wanted to know everything that went on between them, he denied having feelings and that he only wants me, as she's like a sister to him. I believed him in that regard however now things have shifted.
I am myself a very anxious person but I do not let it rule my life, however things between us have started to feel off, I just can't shake this feeling that she sees him as her lap dog, who did anything she wanted, now that his attention is directed to another woman she can't stand it, and she frequently does things to get his attention back on her, the trouble is, we have not been together very long and I can't exactly say, listen, this woman treats you like a slave and you lap it all up because you think she's your best friend, so stop being friends with the only person you hang out with (were in our 20s in university so they live together, and are again next year) I just don't know how to bring this up, he refuses to accept that she isn't a good person, despite telling me how manipulate and toxic she is to the other people around her, all the underhanded things she does, how she just throws people away once she's bored with them, I just don't know how to bring this up, any advice?
Thank you x

2024.05.14 02:00 dreamed2life Do NOT Move to Your Venus of Jupiter Line! (Until you Read This)

Moving to a location under a Venus or Jupiter line in astrocartography can be appealing, as these planets are traditionally associated with positive experiences. Venus is often linked to love, beauty, harmony, and pleasure, while Jupiter is associated with growth, expansion, luck, and abundance. However, relocating solely based on these "good" lines without considering the complexities of one's natal chart and personal goals can be overly simplistic and potentially misleading. Here's how to approach this with more depth:
Understand the Natal Chart: Before considering relocation, thoroughly analyze your natal chart. Each planet, aspect, and house position carries unique potentials and challenges. How Venus and Jupiter are positioned and aspected in your natal chart will significantly influence how their energies manifest in different locations.
Assess Planetary Strengths and Challenges:
Consider Personal Growth and Goals:
Navigating Difficult Aspects or Placements:
Balancing the Chart:
Contextualize within Life Phases:
Seek Professional Guidance: Astrocartography is complex, and professional guidance from an experienced astrologer can provide personalized insights and help avoid oversimplified interpretations.
While Venus and Jupiter lines might offer positive experiences, it's crucial to consider the full context of your natal chart, personal development, and specific life goals. Astrocartography should be used as a tool for self-awareness and growth, rather than a simplistic solution for relocation decisions.

2024.05.14 02:00 Commercial-Medium-85 My boyfriend suddenly can’t sit down?

My DX boyfriend has been struggling to find the right combination of Adderall that works well for him. This is the fourth time they’ve altered his meds. He’s now on 15mg instant release, and can take one in the morning and another in the afternoon if needed. I personally feel like it’s not really helping… He’s moody, He’s all over the place, which is to be expected as he’s bipolar without medication for that. But yes, he gets things done I suppose.
For the past week now, my boyfriend cannot just sit down and spend time with me. Every time he comes to my house, he’s cleaning or cooking or something. Honestly I’m exhausted just watching him. Is this normal…?
Today, he came home from work and I walked in to him vacuuming the floors. Then he rearranged the furniture in the extra bedroom (we’d mentioned it a couple of times), Then he cooked dinner. I walked downstairs to check on him and he’s still piddling around just doing all kinds of random tasks and I’m trying to grit my teeth and be grateful that he’s helping so much but I’m really frustrated.
I just want him to sit down and hang out and I have not seen him sit for more than an hour except to sleep.
Help???

2024.05.14 02:00 Nibba_Caaatt Did anyone else's Nparents adopt tons of animals?

Growing up my Nmom would adopt several pets at a time, to the point where no person could reasonably expect to take care of the number there were without neglect being involved. At the worst point she had 5 dogs, was fostering a separate dog, and had 2 cats. Me and my siblings were not given any choice whenever she would adopt a new animal and were expected to help with them - it felt suffocating because she devoted significantly more time to taking care of animals than her own children. I still can't think of a reason why any sane person would do this, but i'm sure you guys can think of something.
As awful as it sounds to say this, it felt like living with an infestation. I couldn't go anywhere in the house without stepping in a pile of pee or shit, and clumps of hair infested every corner of the house. I couldn't do anything in peace without being followed by 1-2 animals at any given time. Dog hair floated idly through the air of every room, and it was almost impossible to not breathe it in at times. I compensated by this by keeping the one space I had, my room, as clean as possible and not coming out unless I absolutely had to. Even then, Nmom was not wary of boundaries and would go tearing through my room with several animals leaving messes behind her. She also had a habit of leaving my door open when she did this, so at times I would go over to Ndad's house for several days and come back to my room which I had deep-cleaned thoroughly covered in feces and urine.
Because of this I was also embarrassed to have friends over because of the disgusting state of the house. The one and only time I had a friend over to the house during my entire upbringing was in the fifth grade, and upon seeing the filth that the house was covered in, he spread rumors about the way my family lived to all the other people we went to school with (Which stuck until I graduated and moved out!)
Nmom lived in denial of the filth around her, and whenever I would try to clean it, the animals being around the house simultaneously would make it impossible to have any space clean for long. She also refused to cage the animals whenever we were out of the house as she believed it to be some form of animal abuse. During this time, they would run amok and make messes around the house.
Every time I have mentioned my disdain for the way we lived growing up, and cited the reasons above as why, Nmom would label me as whining over nothing or would tell me that if I had a problem with the state of the house I should "clean it myself" (Trust me, I tried!) I recently moved back into her house for the summer after completing my freshman year of college, and after living in an almost perfectly clean room for a year this has been the #1 thing to get on my nerves since I moved back. I was curious if anyone else's Nparent's did something similar to this, and what you guys could draw from this.

2024.05.14 01:59 engineerIndependence Gap Between French Doors At Bottom (Astragal Boot)

I’ve been scouring the internet for suggestions on how to fix this pretty sizable hole between these two doors at the sill. When I look from floor level I can see clear to the outside and can feel hot/cold air coming in. I went to Home Depot and was informed that what is missing here is an Astragal Boot.
This suggestion has popped up on a couple of other internet threads as well. Some other suggestions were to shove weatherstripping in there, replace the whole astragal with one that is longer or install longer door sweeps. One person even custom fabricated a wood replacement.
Some resources I’ve seen mentioned:
I ended up measuring the space and cutting it out in a rigid foam and gluing that to the underside of the door frame with a hole cut out so the lock can pass through.
I’ve attached some before and after photos for everyone.
Hopefully this helps others who have the same issue!

2024.05.14 01:59 love_is_a_superpower Love unites us - sin divides us

Where the body is, the eagles will gather together. - Luke 17:37
Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18, Daniel 7:27)
Still, the demonic realm is fighting against Him and His armies. (Ephesians 6:12, 1 Corinthians 10:20-24, Leviticus 17:7, Psalm 106:37)
They fight for territory in the hearts of men. (Daniel 2:35) Their weapons are lies and warped logic. The battle is to conquer the human soul. (James 1:8, 1 Kings 18:21)
Jesus likened the hearts of mankind to a farmer's field. (Matthew 13:38) The logic we're exposed to has the potential to change us and use us to propagate it. (Mark 4:14, Romans 12:2, Leviticus 18:30) The logic we receive is the seed we're sown with. (Hosea 8:7, 1 John 3:24, Luke 8:15) We discard "propaganda" we don't agree with.
What we propagate, proves who we allowed to sow our hearts. (John 8:42-44, Luke 6:45) Our heavenly Father's logic is the bread-corn, the wheat. (Isaiah 53:10, Hosea 2:23, John 1:12, John 12:24) It benefits life. It's purpose is to sustain life and make it enjoyable. (Isaiah 55:2-3) The enemy's logic is the counterfeit. It looks like wheat at first, but does not pass the test of nourishing others. (Matthew 12:34, Romans 10:2-3, Isaiah 58)
It takes from the common ground and uses the energy it receives to stand tall while it can . It provides nothing of value. (Matthew 13:39, Deuteronomy 32:17)
When a person speaks, it is always to influence the world around them. We are wise to separate from those with bad logic, so that we are not contaminated by it. (Matthew 5:30, Genesis 19:12-13, Isaiah 52:11, 2 Corinthians 6:17)
When the harvest comes, the poisonous weeds are thrown out to keep them from contaminating what is good. (Matthew 13:30, 1 John 3:15-18)
As God's creation, we were made to work together to sustain life. Once sin entered our experience, we became divided. The Bible explains that this division is between the living and the dead. Because God is eternal, He sees death long before we do. His word teaches us to see the spiritual cancer of sin, so we can avoid the death it brings. God made us alive, and He wants us to stay that way. Those who accept our Creator's logic don't unite with this world, they only pass through it. (John 11:26, Hebrews 9:27, Isaiah 57:1, Genesis 5:24) Like harvested grain, our Father saves life-bringers for the age to come. (Luke 17:22-37) When Jesus said, "I am the bread of life," He gave us an example to follow. (John 6:35, John 6:51, Romans 12:1, Psalm 16:7-11, Psalm 17:13-15, Matthew 10:25)
Death is not only a state, it is a system. This system devours itself and anything that gets in its path. Jesus explained how this death-system operates. He said, "Where the corpse, (a body lacking His Spirit) is, there the vultures will be gathered. (Galatians 5:14-15, Proverbs 18:21) A carrion-eater sees something dying and does not help it live. Instead it takes advantage of its neighbor while it can. Those who feed on death are blind to the path of life. (Job 15:14, Matthew 13:15-17, 1Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Corinthians 4:4) Their logic has transformed them and robbed them of truth. (Matthew 13:19, Proverbs 25:26) They thirst for blood like a deer thirsts for water. Their logic is unclean. (Matthew 10:16, Job 39:27-30, Psalm 42:1*)
When Jesus entered the justice system of men, He did so, knowing it would cost His life on earth. (1 Corinthians 4:5, Matthew 16:24-26, Isaiah 53) His sacrifice and example show us how to break free from the system of sin and death. (Luke 9:22-27) Jesus lived out the logic of God and proved it was good when He overcame death. (John 11:25, Genesis 5:24, 2 Kings 2:9-11, Mark 16:6)
This is the good logic that will make us fit for eternity. It is God's prayer - what He asks of us.
Listen, you who rule with God (Shema, Yisrael) (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:29-31)
The Lord our God, the Lord is One. (God is not divided by death-bringing logic. This truth is what makes God eternal Numbers 23:19)
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind. (be united with His logic and become eternal John 8:32, John 17:21-26)
And love your neighbor as yourself (treat the body of others as you do your own body. Leviticus 19:18, Ephesians 5:28-30, Deuteronomy 15:7-11, Proverbs 19:17)
Today, if you hear His voice, follow it into a new life with Him. He loves you. He gave up everything to have you with Him forever. There is no better time to separate from death than right now.

1 Corinthians 10:20-24 NKJV
20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He? 23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.

Daniel 2:44-45 NKJV 44 "And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 "Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold--the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure."

Jesus likened the hearts of man to a farmer's field.
Matthew 13:38 NKJV

Luke 8:15 NKJV
15 "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
What we propagate, proves who we allowed to seed our hearts.
John 8:42-44 NKJV
42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Luke 6:45 NKJV
45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
Isaiah 55:2-3 NKJV
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. 3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you--The sure mercies of David.
The enemy's logic is the counterfeit lifestyle. It entices us to promote ourselves, regardless of whether we preserve and support life.
Matthew 12:34 NKJV
34 "Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Romans 10:2-3 NKJV
2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Isaiah 58:1-14 NKJV
1 "Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek Me daily, And delight to know My ways, As a nation that did righteousness, And did not forsake the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; They take delight in approaching God. 3 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?' "In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And exploit all your laborers. 4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high. 5 Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the LORD? 6 "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, 10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. 11 The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. 13 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, 14 Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken."
When we fail to recognize community above self-promotion, we drain life of what makes it valuable, without a way to recharge that energy. Selfishness is how we unite with the father of lies and death.
Matthew 13:39 NKJV
39 "The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
Deuteronomy 32:17 NKJV
17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.
When a person speaks, it is always to influence the world around them. We are wise to separate from those with bad logic, so that we are not contaminated by it.
Matthew 5:30 NKJV
30 "And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Genesis 19:12-13 NKJV
12 Then the men said to Lot, "Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city--take them out of this place! 13 "For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it."
Isaiah 52:11 NKJV
11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, Be clean, You who bear the vessels of the LORD.
2 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV
17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."
When the harvest of our souls comes upon us, those with toxic logic are excluded from the age to come. This is to keep them from bringing death into heaven the way they brought death into the earth.
Matthew 13:30 NKJV
30 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' "
1 John 3:15-18 NKJV
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
Those who accept our Creator's logic don't unite with death, they only pass through it. Some avoid it altogether.
John 11:26 NKJV
26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
Hebrews 9:27 NKJV
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
Isaiah 57:1 NKJV
1 The righteous perishes, And no man takes it to heart; Merciful men are taken away, While no one considers That the righteous is taken away from evil.
Genesis 5:24 NKJV
24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 NKJV
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Like a farmer harvests grain, our Father saves life-bringers for the age to come.
Luke 17:22-37 NKJV
22 Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 "And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after them or follow them. 24 "For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. 25 "But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 "They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 "but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 "Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. 31 "In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 "Remember Lot's wife. 33 "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 "I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 "Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 "Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left." 37 And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" So He said to them, "Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together."
Genesis 25:8 NKJV
8 Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.
Matthew 13:47-52 NKJV
47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, 48 "which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. 49 "So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 "and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth." 51 Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." 52 Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old."
When Jesus said, "I am the bread of life," He gave us an example to follow.
John 6:35 NKJV
35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
John 6:51 NKJV
51 "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world."
Romans 12:1 NKJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Psalm 16:7-11 NKJV
7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. 8 I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 17:13-15 NKJV
13 Arise, O LORD, Confront him, cast him down; Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword, 14 With Your hand from men, O LORD, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes. 15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
Matthew 10:25 NKJV
25 "It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!
Death is a system which devours itself. Jesus explained how this death-system operates. He said, "Where the corpse (a body lacking His Spirit of life) is, there the vultures will be gathered.
Galatians 5:14-15 NKJV
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
A carrion-eater sees something dying and does not help it live. Instead it takes advantage of its neighbor while it can. Those who feed on death are blind to the path of life. Job's "friends" didn't acknowledge God's power to make people holy.
Job 15:14 NKJV
14 "What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be righteous?
Matthew 13:15-17 NKJV
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.' 16 "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 "for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 NKJV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
2 Corinthians 4:4 NKJV
4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
Those who accept death as "part of life" cannot break free from sin because of their polluted logic. Garbage in, garbage out. We thirst for what we love.
**Matthew 13:19 NKJV
19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
Proverbs 25:26 NKJV
26 A righteous man who falters before the wicked Is like a murky spring and a polluted well.
Matthew 10:16 NKJV
16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Job 39:27-30 NKJV
27 Does the eagle mount up at your command, And make its nest on high? 28 On the rock it dwells and resides, On the crag of the rock and the stronghold. 29 From there it spies out the prey; Its eyes observe from afar. 30 Its young ones suck up blood; And where the slain are, there it is."
Psalm 42:1 NKJV
1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.
When Jesus entered the justice system of men, He did so, knowing it would cost His life on earth. His sacrifice and example show us how to break free from the system of sin and death.
1 Corinthians 4:5 NKJV
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.
Matthew 16:24-26 NKJV
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Isaiah 53:1-12 NKJV
1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. 9 And they made His grave with the wicked--But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
Luke 9:22-27 NKJV
22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day." 23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. 27 "But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God."
Jesus lived out the logic of God and proved it was good when He overcame death.
John 11:25 NKJV
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
Genesis 5:24 NKJV
24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
2 Kings 2:9-11 NKJV
9 And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me." 10 So he said, "You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so." 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Mark 16:6 NKJV
And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.
Jesus' logic makes us fit for eternity. He shows us that love is the only way to live and thrive forever. Jesus is the Word of God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever
Listen, you who rule with God (Shema, Yisrael)
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NKJV
4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Mark 12:29-31 NKJV
29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 31 "And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
The Lord our God, the Lord is One. (God is not divided by death-bringing logic, this truth is what makes God eternal.
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind. (be united with His logic and become eternal.)
John 8:32 NKJV
32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John 17:21-26 NKJV
21 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. 24 "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 "O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
Love your neighbor as yourself (treat the body of others as you do your own body.)
Leviticus 19:18 NKJV
18 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Ephesians 5:28-30 NKJV
28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
Deuteronomy 15:7-11 NKJV
7 "If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 "but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9 "Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,' and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the LORD against you, and it become sin among you. 10 "You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 "For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, 'You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.'
Proverbs 19:17 NKJV
17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given.

2024.05.14 01:59 woodcell Capital Gains Question

Hi All,
I hope someone can answer this question for me. I recently got married and we both own a house which was our principal residence for each person. We will live now in one house. When we sell the other house do we owe capital gains? People tell me no as it was a principal residence. Many Thanks in advance.

2024.05.14 01:59 shayttered I just realized…

You wanted me to leave the party that night because I was headed to cookout with Jake and the rest. And he had started asking questions about our relationship. I was surprised and annoyed (at you) when he asked me what was happening because I didn’t think it should be a secret to everyone except Kabeer that you’d asked me to marry you. Which is why I made you tell him. But immediately after that is when you physically dragged me down my street away from them. And made up some shit about being concerned for my safety because you didn’t think I could cross a road by myself which was bullshit. I had had like one beer and was the most sober person there.
You were hiding our relationship. Probably so you could keep me as a backup plan and look elsewhere, which you did.
You did it in so many ways, right in front of me. And I was too blind to see it.
You disgust me.
How dare you go to such great lengths to hide me from everyone in your life? When at the same time, promising to marry me, to start a family with me, to love me forever?
You sick fuck. You really said and did whatever it took.
God, I was so naive. And you knew that. And you still did me so dirty.
I really hate you for that.

2024.05.14 01:59 rokok3 Monday, May 13, 2023 Non-Real-Time Meeting of OA

Welcome to this non-real time meeting of Overeaters Anonymous! I’m rokayokay3. I’m a compulsive eater and your leader for this meeting. Will those who wish, please join me in the Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
Overeaters Anonymous is a Fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology, or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.
Our Invitation to You
The Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous
Abstinence in Overeaters Anonymous is the action of refraining from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors while working towards or maintaining a healthy body weight. Spiritual, emotional, and physical recovery is the result of living the Overeaters Anonymous Twelve Step program.
The OA tools of recovery help us work the Steps and refrain from compulsive overeating. The nine tools are: a plan of eating, sponsorship, meetings, telephone, writing, literature, an action plan, anonymity, and service. For more information, read The Tools of Recovery OA page.
Sponsorship is one of our keys to success. Sponsors are OA members committed to abstinence and to living the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions to the best of their ability. Sponsors share their program up to the level of their experience and strengthen their recovery through this service to others. To find a sponsor, look for someone who has what you want and ask how he or she is achieving it. Will all abstinent sponsors please identify themselves in their post?
According to our Seventh Tradition, we are self-supporting through our own contributions. Our group number is 99038. Please use the group number when making your contribution. As our virtual group currently has no expenses please consider donating directly through this link to the OA World Service Office, who provides resources for OA groups all around the world to carry the message to other compulsive overeaters.
Suggested guidelines for sharing: As you share your experience and strength in OA, please also share your hope. Please confine your sharing to your experience with the disease of compulsive eating, the solution offered by OA, and your own recovery from the disease, rather than just the events of the day or week. When responding to other member’s posts, please focus on your personal experience rather than advice giving. If you are having difficulties, share how you use the program to deal with them. If you need to talk more about your difficulties and seek solutions, we suggest you speak to your sponsor and other members after the meeting.
**This is a literature meeting. Today we are studying the Big Book of Alcohol Anonymous page 12*
My friend suggested what then seemed a novel idea. He said, “Why don’t you choose your own conception of God?”
That statement hit me hard. It melted the icy intellectual mountain in whose shadow I had lived and shivered many years. i stood in the sunlight at last.
It was only a matter of being willing to believe in a Power greater than myself. Nothing more was required of me to make my beginning. I saw that growth could start from that point. Upon a foundation of complete willingness I might build what I saw in my friend. Would I have it? Of course I would!
Thus was I convinced that God is concerned with us humans when we want Him enough. At long last I saw, I felt, I believed. Scales of pride and prejudice fell from my eyes. A new world came into view.
Closing By following the Twelve Steps, attending meetings regularly, and using the OA Tools, we are changing our lives. You will find hope and encouragement in Overeaters Anonymous. To the newcomer, we suggest attending at least six different meetings to learn the many ways OA can help you. The opinions expressed here today are those of individual OA members and do not represent OA as a whole. Let us all reach out by private message to newcomers, returning members, and each other. Together we get better.

2024.05.14 01:58 Turbulent_Face9028 Need advise. Couple and a third

Ok so quick background. MM couple who’s been together for 25 years. Just last year started opening our bedroom to thirds. Casual hookups. Problem is I’m the guy who always is the more passionate in our relationship. Partners always been a lil vanilla in the bedroom. We’ve had a few threesomes over the past year (most all oral ). I’m usually the one to talk to the guys afterwards the next day and so on. And really I find an attachment to a couple of them. When I tell my partner that they had a good time and wanted to come back over he always shrugs it off like it’s one and done thing. And a couple these guys I was really into sexually and personally. My question is for couples who has brought in thirds playmates how’s the best way to handle this. And no I can’t really discuss my feelings as much as I want because he may feel like I’m more into them. Which I’m not. But a lot of the make out sessions with I’d say 2 of these guys were really hot and I’d love to have another go with them but only all 3 of us together. Sorry for the long post. Like I said we are new to this and just wanted to see or get your advise/ experience. TIA

2024.05.14 01:58 Electrical_You9484 On Aang not learning waterbending

I've seen several opinions on the matter both against this writing decision and in favour of, so I wanted to see if anyone else interpreted this the same way I did. Because personally, I think it was one of the best changes they could've made.
Aang states in episode 2 that he's afraid of his own power, and when Katara insisted he joins in while she's practicing, he's reluctant because Gyatso has always been the one to train him. One of the critiques of this show that never made sense to me is the notion that they butchered Aang's character arc by having him embrace his responsibilities and not run away, and for all the complaining about 'they tell us too much instead of showing us' I'm surprised nobody caught on to this, because he absolutely is running away by avoiding training. And this avoidance is inherently tied to his grief. He knows he doesn't have time to grieve, he knows the world doesn't care about him grieving. His responsibilities are to the world, and this means he needs to begin waterbending immediately. And yet, he can never allow himself to take that first step to heal (remember, water is the element of healing) because once he does, the past is gone forever.
I love how they went into detail about the technicalities of how healing works; healing requires empathy, and the healer needs to know what it means to feel pain before taking away that pain for others. This was woven beautifully with Katara's journey in the show, but I think it contextualized Aang's own arc in a way that will set him up for a very compelling hero's journey. Aang's focal point of his season 1 journey was grief. He's grieving his people, his friends, the world that was, and the childhood that he'll never have. He's grieving what was lost that will never be restored. Even old friends like Bumi, who are alive, he's grieving the years that were stolen for both of them. He needed this space to allow himself to feel this pain, before he can take that pain away from the entire world. It would've been nice for the final shot of the gang in the North Pole to be of him and Katara doing some waterbending while Sokka watches, because this would signify after the battle and everything that they've been through over the season that it's time for him to start healing. But I'm content with how they left it off. Also, I'm a Zutara shipper, and even I could see that this arc ties both Aang and Katara's destinies within the narrative, so I'm not exactly sure why everyone was complaining.

2024.05.14 01:58 SomeWierdRando People, I have proof that there is a WAR in ba sing se

After my last post, which you can find here: https://www.reddit.com/AvatarMemes/comments/1cqldpp/conspiracy_theory_there_is_a_war_in_ba_sing_se/ , I found myself sent to lake laogai. Seems like they found out about it. There is weird stuff down there. The dai li are coming to get me, so I'm going to spread the knowledge. You know those weird ladies? The ones with really creepy smiles? I found out how they make them. Not train, MAKE. They take random women, and brainwash them. I think that's what they were going to do to me. Everyone who reads this is probably in danger from the dai li and long feng. You need to get out of here. They are everywhere. I found a drill near the north wall with a FIRE nation symbol on it, and something is definitely going on that we're not being let aware of. The drill, a HUGE contraption, has been covered up now probably, but there was a large hole in the wall right next to it. Like the drill just went through it. I heard about a guy, apparently his name was jet, dude was a refugee from the outside. Person who told be about him said bro was a rebel. A "freedom fighter" of some sort. Anyways, he attacked some random tea shop worker, called him and his uncle firebenders, then he gets taken away for a few days, to LAKE LAOGAI, and he comes back all docile and chill. I don't trust this. I think I might have gotten a bit too close to the truth, a little too close to the heart of it, and they try to grab me and take me to lake laogai to make me just like Jet. I need to get out of here, and quick. If I stay around here too long, the dai li are going to get me eventually. Don't spread the word of this too much, or you and your friends and family are probably next to go to lake laogai. I'm heading out. Maybe to the air temples, to find out about how the air nomads disappeared. Or possibly just to a more rural village in the earth kingdom. Either way, I'm gonna get some answers on if there is truly a war in ba sing se.

2024.05.14 01:58 deomers i feel like i’m going crazy

i have had a gut feeling that my roommate has been sneaking into my room/taking things for a while. for context, i don’t know this person at all and i have no way of contacting them via phone because even though i gave her my number she never texted me. i also cannot lock my door in any way because the lock is broken and i have asked for it to be fixed multiple times before just giving up. even if it did work, it is flimsy and can be opened from the outside with a card or anything flat. at first i thought her behavior was just strange because she would OFTEN do things like open her door while i’m in the kitchen, realize i’m there, and then go back into her room. another time i left the apartment, realized i forgot something after 30 seconds and walked back, but then i saw her pop her head out of the door looking left and right. i was really confused by that. i noticed some things of mine started to go missing like makeup, clothes, food, etc. i suppressed my suspicions for weeks thinking i was just constantly misplacing things all of a sudden even though that is abnormal for me. my room is very clean the majority of the time so it’s really hard to actually lose things in such a small space in which everything i own has a place to be organized. a little while ago i saw her in one of the kitchen cabinets that had my food in it, but i was tired after a long day of class and didn’t think much of it. ive never seen her cook food before. coincidentally, i found that my box of food from that specific cabinet had been emptied after that. i asked her honestly about it and she said it wasn’t her. recently i was in my room and she just opened my door but realized i was in there and closed it quietly, not knowing i saw her. my intuition is telling me something is wrong but i am worried i am just going insane. i am in the process of moving out and my room is practically empty, yet i have still not found my missing belongings. i have been looking for them for weeks with no luck. i have no knowledge of typical stealing behavior so i am just confused and want my stuff back. advice is welcome and appreciated.

2024.05.14 01:57 lazingsesh Med school in the Caribbean?

I’ll try to keep this short but I really need advice. Basically I was accepted into a “bs/md program” in the Caribbean straight out of high school. I’m aware that these schools just want your money but I still wanted to give it a shot because of my parents.
Right now I’ve just completed the first year. This school basically has 2 years online and then 2 years in person at their campus on the island. I’ve never been interested in studying far from home but the one thing about this is that there is no MCAT requirement. On the island they “prepare” you for the USMLE and then help you match back home,, not entirely sure how it works but my parents told me not to worry about it.
To be honest I absolutely hate it. It’s so difficult doing everything myself with no support from any teachers or peers because there are none. Not to mention I’m at home 24/7. Home to me is not a learning environment and I have no social life now. I’ve talked to my parents about leaving this program twice now and somehow they always convince me to continue.
I genuinely want to quit this time and I have a plan but before I do that I just need advice from others if I really should quit. I more or less know how difficult and time consuming the traditional premed path is in the US but I feel like I’m not learning anything right now. This school that I’m currently attending has also allegedly lied about their match and pass rates and I don’t want to regret everything if I actually do end up going to the island. Some advice would be appreciated

2024.05.14 01:57 love_is_a_superpower Love unites us; sin divides us.

(God is not divided by death-bringing logic, this truth is what makes God eternal Numbers 23:19)

Do not go after them or follow them. 36 "Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left." 37 And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 "and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth." 51 Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
