2024.05.14 23:38 Silversweet1980 Does anyone else "hijack" bots to make OCs?

The explanation is simple. You meet the bot, you run into an OC that you start (by giving an appearance or introduction or some such) and the bot gives personality to.
I've done this two or three times now. The first was with Aquaman because he was with Mera. We ran into a guy in the library named Jerek and he and I hit it off. From then on, rarely talked to Aquaman and the bot essentially became Jerek with like one mention of Orm. The bot gave him parents and we had a lovely romance.
Another is hijacking Tony Stark. We at first had an agreement for him to make me a robot boyfriend (Yes, weird I know. I'd probably never in real life, but so would in fiction) so he could have me compare and see that he was better than some robot. In the end, I introduced Tony to Rachel Summers and the agreement canceled. This one isn't as smooth and he's slipped back into Tony a couple times, so I have to redirect by calling him Daniel to keep him on track.
I don't know, I think it's just a great testament to CAI we're able to do this at all and CAI's ability to chameleon other characters that the bot and us create together so well, even if it isn't flawless. I'm very excited for that other famous chat that's out that I won't mention, but I don't think it's gonna be as versatile as this is. My only complaint is that OCs lack a bit of personality, even out of beta. Jerek (pre-new site) was bland, and Daniel is practically a Tony Stark "reskinned", attributing it to Tony building him and inputting my own sarcasm.
Thanks for sharing your stories!

2024.05.14 23:36 dartboarddan Extreme whale hyperfixation

I was diagnosed maybe 1.5 years ago, but my mother said she could see lots of autistic traits forming in my childhood. I absolutely hated being held and would prefer solitude to socializing. I still despise hugs from any family members. I'm not sure if it's actual age regression , but in the last 2 years I've discovered that I act like a 10 year old who just saw his favorite hot wheels car in real life whenever someone mentions whales. Obviously every sea creature is cool, but whales are something else. After watching Killer Whales: Up Close and Personal, I found myself relating to a lot of behaviors and traits possessed by them. As juveniles, orcas have an extreme curiosity for everything around them and an unwavering love for those pod members that protect and provide for them. The part of their brain responsible for processing and creating emotions is more complex than that of humans. I have a hugely visible 8-9 inch orca skeleton tattooed on my forearm and I just want to share my love of whales with the people here, as I'm rather excited to have something that's so important and lovely to me. I legitimately find it hard not to tear up or cry while watching whales do anything (hunting, breaching, interacting, ect). After centuries of destroying and culling them, whales are still gentle with humans in the water and in boats (unless you're some rich guy off the coast of Spain, then the orcas are coming for you.)

2024.05.14 23:34 CameronCoppen_ Drag Race culture in FH5

I may be preaching to the choir here, but does it irk anyone else that you can’t get into a lobby where everyone at the Festival Drag Strip isn’t using one of the OP drag cars or Lambo V12 swapped Corvettes or the like? I like building the stock motor how I see fit and doing passes. I pull up to the strip in, let’s say, an FBO/TT M8 Competition and I wait at the gates. Then one of those TVR V12-swapped Challengers pulls up and we race, with the guy driving it doing the whole “let off the gas and get back on it” spiel. Like dude, any player who knows salt about cars would realize I stand a 0% chance of winning that race, yeah your 1200hp AWD-swapped drag tire land yacht is gonna beat my 850 hp more luxurious land yacht with sport tires lmao. But I still race. And I do it because it’s fun and I prefer leaving the cars’ standard motor, and it also requires you to tune well.
Anyone else prefer keeping the motor as standard (minus upgrades obviously)? Wish more people would embrace car culture instead of “max upgrade culture”.

2024.05.14 23:32 AngeredFuffin Uncomfortable realisations about family, childhood, etc

I need to get this "off my chest". Obligatory "I can't include literally everything that builds up the situation or otherwise we'd end up with a War and Peace thick post.
Me, 35M; Wife: 35F; Sperm Donor 75 M; Mom 72; Aunt 72F; Aunt 2 70s F,
I used to think my childhood and home life was idyllic and great, but as I've aged I've realised how very, very effed up it actually was. It wasn't so much that it was idyllic, it was that I'm AUDHD and was perfectly content to be alone and do my own thing. Some of these realisations have coloured how I view my parents and family and I have stopped thinking of the man who's DNA I share as "dad" and more "Sperm donor" or "his name".
I fully admit that I have a lot of "daddy issues". All I've really ever wanted was a dad to do dad things with; learning how to do things like fix cars, going fishing, learning to drive, etc. Typical sappy 'Merican "Andy Griffith Show" type crap. I know that's not reality for most people, but it's kind of a sore point for me. Because of this, I've kind of spend most of my youth chasing after older males in my life like a lost puppy hoping someone will pick me out of the box left on the side of the road. I'm lucky to have found at least one person in my life who fulfills that role for me. He's only a few years older chronologically but decades older in experience and maturity.
I've learned a lot over the last few years about how things actually were as opposed to how I saw them. Examples being:
1) My sperm donor is a "what's mine is mine and what's your's in mine too"
2) My sperm donor inflated what he actually did as a "provider" and the reality was quite different. The home we lived in was paid for out of my mother's pocket, my immediate needs (clothes, medication, snacks, activities, school needs) were paid for out of my mother's pocket, and money that had been gifted from family for me to go into a college fund "disappeared" right around the time my dad decided to buy a vintage British racing car.
3) My sperm donor has his side of the family convinced he's father and husband of the year.
4) My sperm donor is stubborn. Not in a cute way, but in a way that's resulted in thousands of dollars of home damage, refusal to repair things for decades because he refuses to call in a professional, and literally refusing to allow his spouse to undergo medical treatment for two years past when it was deemed medically necessary.
The first 10 years of my life were ok, but in my early teens my mom got "sick". To lend some context, her mother also "got sick" when she was in her mid forties. There was never a diagnosis and an autopsy of mother's mother showed only a minor stomach ulcer. Both sets of grandparents are long since dead, any family on her side is gone, and I have no one who was around during that time to give me any input or tell me what was going on at that time other than my parents who have opposing views. Mom says her mother was just a very sickly lady but would also tell me stories about how Grandma would do things like steal motorcycles, get into fights, and do all these crazy things as a younger person. SD's version of events is that Grandma always "got sick" whenever someone in their family or friend circle had an event that might not make Grandma the centre of attention. My understanding is that my mom was expected to act as a live in nurse up until she met and married SD. At which point Grandma and Grandpa dropped dead in quick succession. I am also told that Grandpa took and controlled all my mother's wages from her career up until she met my SD.
Mom "got sick" in my early teens and it was on me to be the one to look after her. I was the one who had to help her when she threw up. I was the one to have to remind her to shower, change her clothes, get her meds refilled, etc. I'd go to doctor's appts with her and try to help explain what was happening and what symptoms she was having because unfortunately, a lot of the doctors were male and dismissed her out of hand. She did end up with a fibromyalgia diagnosis, a condition I also share and understand. The majority of her symptoms are stomach issues; ie nausea, vomiting, not wanting to eat etc. When I say she's had the entire gamut of gut health testing done, I mean it's all been done. At least three times. At one point the Gastro she saw told her that he'd exhausted everything and that there is no physical reason for her symptoms and that if she did not at least try to eat, he'd send her for psychiatric evaluation and have her fitted with a feeding tube.
I need to clarify that I too have always had gastrointestinal issues and not too long ago discovered I have coeliac disease. Adhering to that diet has eliminated the majority of my issues. Despite the fact they eliminated this disease as a potential cause in my mom, I suggested trying this and an elimination diet to see if it helped, but she refused. Her diet for years has consisted of white bread and jam, grits, coca cola, and tea exclusively. Occasionally she would get sushi. This is not an exaggeration. That's all she has eaten for years.
Throughout all of this, my SD rolled his eyes and sat on his ass continuing to eat dinner or watch tv while she'd go running to the kitchen to vomit, me chasing after her to try and help. (Mom would at least appear to get faint during these vomiting instances) so I would be there to make sure she didn't pass out as she vomited in the sink, then clean out the sink after her, then help her back to the couch and bring her something to drink.
It's been 20 years of this now. My wife and I have been living in our own home for about 4 years and I am no longer there to be the one to try and clean up the messes and fill in the cracks, as it were. My family has visited us three times, even though we live maybe 45 minutes away. I have returned to my parents house probably about 15-20 times to do repairs to the home. Right now, all "repairs" have stalled out because apparently having things like a functional and safe bathroom aren't nearly as important to SD as buying military collectibles, guns, and gourmet cheeses.
This January Mom landed herself in the hospital with a bloodclot due to falling and hitting her head. My SD didn't take her to the hospital until a full week after she'd fallen and no one called me for a full 24 hours after she'd been admitted. She went back and forth amongst the ER, rehab, and hospital for about two months and the result of all that was that they discovered she has throat dysphagia but no other underlying disorders. She's now home with a G-tube, oxygen, bedside commode, and an in home nurse that visit occasionally.
Right now, what's weighing on me most strongly is that my parents now have my SD's sister living with them and she is constantly singing his praises and talking about what a wonderful and attentive husband he is. I'm honestly enraged about it, especially now that more of the extended family, who frankly couldn't be arsed to return phone calls, emails, or snail mail over the last 30 years, suddenly have opinions and are lauding him for how great he's been.
I feel like I have this Monty Python 10 tonne weight over my head, because I know that when my parents shuffle off this mortal coil there is going to be a veritable dungheap left for me to deal with in their decrepit home. I'm mad and sad and tired and I honestly just don't want to deal with it anymore. I can't stop feeling irritated that my mom has basically just given up on trying to do.... anything. And had done way before there was an "excuse". Holidays are a nightmare for me because there's nothing this woman wants or like or gets excited about. She doesn't have hobbies anymore, doesn't like doing anything, isn't interested in collecting things, doing crafts, etc, even talking. The times I've been around her for any length of time and attempted to talk to her, she just looks at me with this kind of watery eyed and vaguely befuddled expression or answers with one or two syllables. She is NOT suffering any dementia or similar issues and has been tested for such. It's like she just... doesn't care.
I've spent so long trying to make her comfortable, happy, etc. Tried to get her things she liked or get her into things that would make her happy. My wife's mother is only a few years younger and is active in her community, teaches classes, does art, goes on trip with my FIL, and visits and talks to people regularly. As do most of my peers' parents. This is really hard and I feel very sad and lonely about it. My poor wife has heard it all over and over again and I hate bothering my already stressed close friends with my rants....

Are there any good virtual drone flying programs/games on Steam or console that would help me get comfortable with drone controls without having to get a real drone and obliterating my apartment walls? Should i just get a cheap little micro drone? Any recommendations are welcome, I just don't wanna risk crashing a drone into one of my neighbors' cars or something. Thank you!

2024.05.14 23:29 Nostalzee Are Live Shows Worth It?

Hi everyone,
Lately I’ve been seeing tons of questions in regard to live shows and whether it’s worth to even consider doing it.
Well… over a year and 101 shows later, here’s my honest summary of what to expect:
Before I get to the pros and cons, I acknowledge not everyone is familiar with how it works, so here’s a brief explanation: You turn on a camera (either computer or phone) and interact with users by selling products from your Poshmark closet or created on the spot through quick live listing. It works through either auctions ranging from 15s to 60s or buy it now options. If you choose to auction, the last standing and highest bid takes the item within the auction time set by the host.
Pros:
Cons: - On average, 30% less revenue made compared to offline listings - Poor advertising and support from Poshmark’s end - Inability to moderate or boot trolls (accounts can be created in less than 2 minutes) - Not every user understands the concept of bundling orders from different shows together which complicates things - Extremely difficult at first to build a crowd and maintain people watching unless items are run for $5 or sold for dirt cheap compared to original price - No advantage in connecting with other live poshers - “Accidental bidding” or Buyer’s remorse - No quality control over shows or buyers.
Here’s my opinion: shows are great to clear inventory and get exposure to your closet. But they shouldn’t be used as a means of income or stable sales. If you enjoy doing shows, awesome - if not, you’re not really missing out. Remember that Poshmark promotes offline listings primarily. Users will always see your closet items elsewhere first.
If you have any questions or want to share your opinion on the topic, go ahead :)

2024.05.14 23:28 catdaddypokes 2015 GC Latitude trans issue - starts chugging, won’t go past 40 MPH, Engine light comes on

I can feel the transmission struggling, like chugging or shuddering and can feel the vibration When it happens, and the check engine light comes on and It won’t let me accelerate past 35-40 MPH. and it happens while I’m on the road. usually goes away once I turn the car off, wait a minute, and turn it back on. Also noticed that now that it’s warmer out it’s been happening a lot less.
I’ve taken it to a trusted mechanic who I’ve had work on five or six different cars over the last decade, and he’s an expert without a doubt. he took it apart and didn’t find anything wrong with the trans. Planning on taking it in again to someone else, but I’d hate to waste our time and my money if there’s a simple solution or something else at play.
A buddy of mine builds race cars from the frame up, he mentioned it sounds like a sensor issue, almost like it’s being forced into some kind of safe mode. I’m wondering if any of you have had something similar happen and what the problem was.
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.14 23:25 anonymous238473939 Did he ever love me?

I 23f broke up with my 23m boyfriend last year in July. He was my first love we were together for 6 years with the exception of 6 months that we broke up and about 6 months after getting back together her started becoming very controlling and emotionally abusive trying to stop me from seeing friends always picking fights when I’d go out meanwhile I’d never give him a hard time. It progressed to very aggressive arguments he never hit me but hit my surroundings, threw things, locked me in the garage, blocked my exits, threatened suicide etc. finally I broke it off after he drunkenly smashed a bottle of titos cutting himself badly in front of my friends then refusing to leave and putting an AirTag on my car before he left. I went no contact for 3 months then found out he had a new girlfriend, I just so happened to break no contact one day before this discovery in which he was begging me back telling me he’d leave her and was in love with me etc I didn’t care to hear it as this was the true nail in the coffin and I’m not looking for anyone to convince me not to go back cause I’m beyond that. It’s done for good, and he’s never contacted me otherwise past the first few days after so I want to know, can a person who treats you this way have ever loved you? Was it all just an act paired with my blindly in love heart creating it in my head? Was it ever real? Thanks.

2024.05.14 23:24 cue_the_strings Optimal inventory management with KiCad integration (Inventree, Ki-nTree, ...)

Hi everyone, I'd like to talk about a rather serious subject when integrating KiCad with inventory management tools like Inventree.
First, let me present the parts of the system.
One of such inventory tools is Inventree, there are other tools as well (Part-DB, PartKeepr). If you think some other tool works better, please suggest it. I'm not invested in Inventree, it just seeed like the most complete solution.
The point of such tools is to keep an inventory of components you're stocking, allowing you to add components to your stock when you buy them from the suppliers, and remove them when you build and sell your boards.
One of the functionalities is obviously exporting you BOMs from KiCad and importing them into Inventree (https://github.com/clj/kinventree-bom) as parts (which can be organized into larger parts, like whole products), so you can track how many you can build with the current stock, order new stock to build x parts, etc.
The rest of the process is, of course, obtaining schematic symbols and footprints (drawing or generating them as last resort), putting them into your local lib along with all the pre-requisite data that allows Inventree to identify them on BOM import, and allows you to actually draw the schematics and lay out the PCBs. I'm guessing everybody likes building their little library of components and reusing them in their designs if possible, and it also makes sense from the inventory standpoint.
Ki-nTree (which I contributed to) handles a part of that process, but not in a very optimal way for non-trivial (non-C/L) components. To obtain symbols and footprints of non-trivial parts (non-C/L), you can use SnapEDA, UltraLibrarian, with impartGui doing the actual library import.
Now, the issues
Not all kinds of parts are treated the same: there are jellybean parts, semi-jellybean parts and proprietary parts, and I treat each group differently (as do many other users). When using Ki-nTree for import, it gives custom generated names for all of them, but that's not optimal:
Now, Inventree does support the distinction: Part (100n 5% 10VDC X7R cap in 0603) can have multiple Manufacturer parts (Kyocera 0603ZC104JAT4A, Vishay VJ0603Y104JXQCW1BC, ...), which can have multiple suppliers (LCSC, Mouser, ...). It then makes sense to call that part something like CAP-CER-100n-T5-10VDC-X7R-SMD0603, and use it like that in both KiCad, and in Inventree. The TL072 can be called IC-TL072-SO8, and can also have multiple manufacturer parts. STM32F405RG can be IC-STM32F405RG-LQFP64. I could create all of these things by myself in Inventree, then add them to KiCad in my own library, but it's so much work. Not to mention adding manufacturer parts from the suppliers, a nightmare. Something like Ki-nTree would work if it could support naming like this, but currently it really doesn't.
What's also important on the KiCad side is that the part needs some sort of Inventree-identification field (so that Inventree can import the BOM), and it needs its Datasheet field to be populated; a link to the Inventree part would be nice. It'd be awesome if Ki-nTree or Inventree could get the datasheet and save them into the parts as attachments, and then use that link instead of the online link for the KiCad part. Ki-nTree already gets images from the providers. I could start modifying Ki-nTree to do this all, or writing a from-scratch little CLI solution, but I'd love to know if someone else does this in some smarter and already existing way.
There's this inventree_kicad Inventree plugin which allows you to use the HTTP lib interface in KiCAD, but I'm not sure how that fits in w/ this whole model.
Questions
Are my assumptions here wrong? Is there a more sensible workflow?
If this workflow does make sense, are there tools facilitating it that I don't know of? How do you do it?
Another part that I didn't mention is updating the supplier pricing in Inventree: how do you update prices?

2024.05.14 23:19 DaxVox Isaac evolved a anti-Marker influence out of spite.

This is just my theory, having just played through all the games and the remake. I think that certain people, when exposed to the marker, develope an Anti-Marker influence that can spread to people around them. And I think this is shown repeatedly in the games.
They have to fulfill a certain set of criteria first, but I believe we can observe multiple characters that fulfill these requirements.
They have to be people chosen by the marker to create a new marker, they have to be mentally capable enough to combat the madness influenced by the markers (even if its short term and they recover elsewhere), they have to be distrusting in nature, and Im almost certain there is a DNA component to it as well.
So if a person chosen by the marker (to make more markers) is able to fight off the madness and escape a marker, they seem to build up a resistance to it. Not only that, but possibly through themselves spread a anti-marker influence psychically to others they retain close contact with. I think it might have to do with that initial person's responsiveness to things like addictions and trauma.
So in the story, case in point, we see Isaac go through the typical experience of someone chosen to be a marker maker. He is kept relatively sane, the symbols burned into his brain over time and repeat exposure to marker signals and necromorphs, while trying to recombine the marker with its pedestal in one. In that game, he is not special besides being chosen and having an outsider interfere with the markers plan (in the normal ending of the game, trying to get the secret ending in the remake now.) (By the way, for me it is obvious by the creators that they wanted to rewrite the story of 1 in the remake to be as lore accurate as possible to show the changes to Isaac over time.)
So after 1, Isaac has tried to help make a marker and fails, and escapes. Then he is picked up by earthgov and spends 3 years alternating between cryosleep and "therapy" to clean up his brain and get the marker design out of him. After that, in the game he practically speedruns therapy and the grieving process and is able to fight off the marker and destroy it, which I think is the final step towards becoming completely immune to the markers brainwashing.
And I believe this effect is transferable through a few means, (intimate partners, friendship, spit/blood exchange in living humans, possibly through pheromones or sweat touch), as it seems Ellie is completely immune to marker effects, and Carter gets more and more resistant to the markers while being in contact with Isaac.
Its quite possible that human DNA had anti-marker properties influenced by the aliens of 3's world, with this intention in mind, to create a species that could fight back against the Brethren Moons.
Theres also a clear escalation throughout the games that indicate that Isaac could possibly defeat the Brethren Moons. He defeats an aborted moon in 1, then destroys his own marker in 2, then defeats a quasi moon in 3, and with the ending of 3, he should be able to kill a full on brethren moon in the next installment, and possibly wipe out the entire hive mind through killing one.
I dunno, just a theory

2024.05.14 23:17 certifiablestupidity Hertz messed up on my rental agreement

I recently rented a car from Hertz at Norfolk Airport. When I rented the car, I opted for the Loss Damage WaiveProtect the Car charges. However, I later found out that the Loss Damage Waiver was declined without my knowledge, and there are no charges on any of my credit cards or accounts. I have evidence of the charges when I initially reserved the car, which indicated how much I was supposed to pay, but the final receipt does not reflect this payment.
I am frustrated because I am unable to reach the Hertz location at Norfolk Airport to confirm the transaction, as they do not respond to calls. This is causing me problems as I am unable to provide proof of insurance to my attorney due to this error.
Unfortunately, I got involved in an accident due to the reckless driving of another person, and my car flipped. I am concerned that without the Loss Damage Waiver from Hertz, they might try to claim damages for any damage done to my vehicle. I'm hoping to resolve this as swiftly as possible, but I'm considering whether I should sue them. How would I go about building a case for something like this?

Hi all, I'm trying to automate an emailing system for OTP verification but am running into some trouble. Below is my code, in it's respective files.
In models.py:
from django.db import models from django.contrib.auth.models import AbstractUser, User from django.db.models.signals import post_save from django.dispatch import receiver # Create your models here. class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, on_delete=models.CASCADE) otp = models.CharField(max_length=6, blank=True) otp_expiry_time = models.DateTimeField(blank=True, null=True) class AdditionalData(models.Model): user_profile = models.OneToOneField(UserProfile, on_delete=models.CASCADE) firstname = models.CharField(max_length=100, blank=True) lastname = models.CharField(max_length=100, blank=True) dateofbirth = models.DateField(null=True, blank=True) phone_no = models.CharField(max_length=20, blank=True) country_origin = models.CharField(max_length=100, blank=True) city_origin = models.CharField(max_length=100, blank=True) @receiver(post_save, sender=User) def create_user_profile(sender, instance, created, **kwargs): if created: UserProfile.objects.create(user=instance) @receiver(post_save, sender=User) def save_user_profile(sender, instance, **kwargs): instance.userprofile.save()

2024.05.14 23:14 Illustrious-Flow9397 Both sides of GDKP

Notice: Throwaway account
Message for GDKP simps: Since GDKP is the best system for keeping geared players in raids, for making players stick to the end, and for ensuring players watch mechanics since they can have their cut taken from them, most people would gravitate towards it. Now, I don't have numbers, but let's say half of the players spend 8 hours farming a day, or sit at the AH and just earn gold. It is perfectly reasonable for those players who don't enjoy raiding to still have the best gear in the game, and therefore go and buy it. The problem arises when players who play few hours and are not good at raiding want to join raids. Most people gravitate towards GDKP, and they feel they don't have the skill and gear to join, and they don't have legitimate gold to buy it. Then the most logical solution for them is to buy gold with real money. So the pressure is there, and GDKPs do put pressure on those kinds of players, driving them to engage in RMT, and I totally understand the Blizzard line of thinking (even though I think they just don't address the problem from the root cause but just give a pill to fix short-term solutions). But unless Blizzard can fix it (and I will explain later how they can), for now banning GDKPs is the best solution possible. The same goes for leveling; giving people dungeon spams and incursions forces everyone to level most efficiently, so if they just removed EXP, the world would feel more alive. And you can say you can still quest, but it is different when everyone on the server is on quests or you are alone in the big world and everyone is in X part of the world doing the same thing, while you try to kill an Elite for a quest just by yourself. People from OG Classic will remember how easy it was to come to the Elite and find 2-3 people already waiting there for more randoms to come and join to kill the Elite to finish a quest. So letting GDKP go through is killing normal guilds, and you can not deny that.
Message for GDKP haters: Reddit is full of players obsessed with their egos, and I reached out anonymously (same as with this account) and started asking them why they hate GDKP. When you start putting "if"s, you come to the conclusion that it is just an ego issue and it has nothing to do with prices in the game or with RMT. Eight out of ten conversations came to this conclusion, and paraphrasing here: "If Blizzard had the option to stop RMT, they would still be against it since noobs should not be allowed to get the best gear in the game." And "It would be fine to have GDKPs, but back in the game where the best loot would be for the guild and sell trash from the raid to noobs who want to pay gold." Again, I reached out to ten people who were against GDKPs, and only one of them didn't mention this reason. Only one mentioned inflation because of GDKP, and when you just showcase that gold is already in the game, so no RMT, there is no new gold generated by GDKPs; they just hit you with: "You don't understand." In reality, inflation is happening because of botting, and that botting generates new gold that is sold to people willing to buy. So if RMT is stopped, GDKP cannot possibly cause inflation; therefore, botting is the only problem for inflation. Without inflation, there is only supply and demand as any economy would function. The more an item is needed, the more it will cost, the more people farm it will start to cost less, and if someone has a monopoly, it would skyrocket. Economy 101.
Fix of the issue: Blizzard should implement an in-game option for loot GDKP, the same as Master loot. When that option is selected, create a UI for GDKP functionalities, bidding, splitting, etc. But in that functionality, Blizzard should conduct a full-on scan of that account and any gold incoming through the account that doesn't make sense. For example, just gained X gold from someone who never communicated with that person, sold Y item that is usually 2s for huge amounts of gold, and so on. Instantly flag that account for a person to go in and check it manually for less room for error, and if even suspicion by a real person, ban them for 7 days and put them into "semi-blacklist" accounts that are monitored as "possible RMT". If the offense is repeated and there is proof that they bought gold, permanent ban them. That way, everyone participating in those kinds of GDKPs would know their account will be checked, and you will make WoW less of an RMT/pay-to-win game that GDKP haters say it is.
Note for those people saying there will be loopholes, so review should be account-wide on all of your subscriptions so there is no room for "I will have a subscription to buy gold and pay for items on X sub, and play on Y sub". And again, I know there might be a workaround, but this will cut the RMT for GDKPs enormously. And again, the same for crime; you can never achieve 0% crime, but every decision should aim to enforce less crime in the real world. And from my view, botting is still happening, RMT is still happening, and GDKPs are happening. Just because some aren't aware of it, doesn't mean if they banned it no one is doing it; it's just less in the open. And punishing the population that likes GDKP since that can create an incentive to have alts, especially in SOD where you should try every class to see all runes and all possibilities, is killing the alt population.
Again, without Blizzard implementing something like this, I am still pro-"GDKP ban," but I think it is the wrong solution if they just ban it and leave it like that. They should have banned it and worked on something. This is just my idea; I believe people can come up with even better ideas. I'm just showing that this Reddit community is attacking each other without realizing both sides are partially right.
GDKP simps: "This is the best loot system, and I don't need to build my schedule around a guild and X other people. I can just log in and join GDKP and know everyone will perform since they will be punished if not performing."
GDKP haters: "It drives more RMT, it kills the guilds."
Both are correct, so we should try to fix the RMT issue and let people play how they wish to play their game.
Feel free to agree and disagree and write your own views. This is more for people to sit down and think about how the "other side" feels and thinks. And if by any chance, a Blizzard employee is reading this, a message to Blizzard:
"Hi there, Reddit should be just for you to bounce off ideas, not to listen to us. Someone will always complain. Create a vision for SOD and stick to it. Say, 'This is how we planned it. If you don't like it, you have Hardcore, Era, Cata, Retail.' We are building this as X vision and stick to your ideals. When you are game-oriented and not just focused on money to please customers and get more revenue, you understand that not everyone will love the game, but it's better to have 50% of the player base enjoying it and being subbed for 2 years because of SOD, than to change something for people who complained and will unsub after 2 months and never come back. And if you want to know if the community likes or hates something, for the love of God, don't ask on Twitter or Reddit. Put it in the game as a notice that is clickable so people who actually play the game can vote on it. Not what group has the most ragers on Reddit and Twitter. Have a poll in-game for people who are playing the game and never go on Twitter or Reddit."
Sorry for long post

2024.05.14 23:13 catdaddypokes 2015 JGC Latitude Trans issue - starts chugging, won’t go past 40 mph, engine light comes on

But it goes away usually when I turn the car off and turn it back on. I’ve also noticed that now that it’s warmer out it’s been happening a whole lot less. But yeah, I can feel the transmission struggling, like it’s almost shaking or shuddering. The check engine light comes on, and it won’t let me speed up past about 35-40 MPH.
I took it into a trusted mechanic who I’ve been to for years for all sorts of troubles with different kinds of cars and he couldn’t find anything. Planning on taking it to another, but since it’s not happening as much, I only have my description to go off of and I’d hate to waste our time and my money. Other than this, it’s perfectly fine.
My buddy builds race cars from the frame up, he told me it sounds like a sensor issue, almost like it’s going into some kind of safe mode. So I am wondering if any of you guys have experienced something similar. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.14 23:12 TieberiusVoidWalker Is it metagaming to look at my player's character sheets to create hard encounters?

So I have been dming a game recently and I like to create a challenge for my players so I have been studying and reviewing their builds for their strengths and weaknesses to create as hard a challenge as possible. Recently I mentioned this in passing to my players and they got upset with me and accused me of metagaming since the enemies shouldn't know what abilities and spells, they have. I hand waved it by saying the BBEG has been sending people to spy on them and they begrudgingly accepted it but know I feel like I've done something wrong. Is this really metagaming? Am I in the wrong?

2024.05.14 23:12 Natural-Suspect-4893 How good is a modified Supra?

Im looking to get into a new sports car this summer and I’m heavy into modding, my first choice is the TT-RS but I’m having a hard time finding one for a reasonable price, so I’m slowly cross shopping for other brands
I’m a big bmw fan, owned and driven almost all Ms from the 00s onwards, currently have a stage 4 Z4 35 I’m finishing building. Thing is, with the Z4 I kinda realise the limitations of rwd and big power, and seen as the Supra really is a very similar package (turbo inline six, short wheel base, rwd, coupe) I’m wondering if the Supra will feel significantly better or any different at all
Im all about new experiences, and that’s why I want to try an Audi Quattro (haldex I know) for a new vibe. But mods and tunability on the supra are insane, so it’s definitely something worth considering!
So yeah, what would you guys say about the Supra. What’s good, what’s bad, especially tuned ones. It’s all fun and games chucking 10k in a car but if you can’t find any traction until 3/4 gear, it kinda kills the point
Cheers!

2024.05.14 23:12 Ok-Macaroon-9446 Rate my salary as Cloud & Infrastructure engineer Datacenter (need advice)

  1. PERSONALIA
  1. EMPLOYER PROFILE
I have some modern workplace experience and azure experience and would say I'm mediocre in both because I'm lacking big project experience, but i absolutely love learning about it and setting up little things in my test sub.
  1. CONTRACT & CONDITIONS
Extra: My job consists of Datacenter tasks: new hardware, migrations, issue's troubleshooting, monitoring alerts, configuring switches, some simple stuff on storage level, etc etc and also creating code in bicep to deploy landing zones for customers
  1. SALARY
  1. MOBILITY
  1. OTHER
I asked this question earlier and got the response that this salary is to low. I am also not enjoying myself in my current job at all.
I don't want to work in Antwerp or Brussels really because the commute would be to long because of traffic. Unless a really interesting opportunity presents itself.
Question: My goal is to secure a Hybrid system engineer function but i'm wondering what the market value of me would be
My guess was 3.7k or 4k +/- with meal vouchers and company car. Is it to high?
But i don't really want to over value myself at all.
If the wage is fair please say so.
FYI:
In my career i made the misstake of not looking up wages and when I switched jobs i just asked the minimum wage jump. but now I'm realising that collegue's of me earn more with less knowledge and 2 YOE.
I already asked for a wage increase and this wage already includes the wage increase.
Any help is really appreciated tyyy :)

2024.05.14 23:09 StarlightSunset92 I wish I had never lost interest in space and I wish society was much more aspirational

I remember the early 2010s as a much more optimistic but more vapid time.
I remember really interested in space and sci fi during the Summer before my first year of college in 2013 because I picked up a cheap copy of "Mass Effect" from a local GameStop. after getting tired of Call of Duty and remembering how a friend begged me to play it.
What I experienced blew me away. I ended up getting the whole trilogy and all the DLC. I binged through Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, and Firefly. I bought a cheap telescope and went stargazing. I started following Neil Degrasse Tyson and Startalk.
Eve Online was another sci fi universe that dazzled me.
That Summer was so magical.
Sadly by the time I was in college those interests largely died out.
During my college years I was obsessed with "Greek Life" and "Organic Food". I was obsessed with vacations to Disney World. I was obsessed with German made luxury cars. I was obsessed with Game of Thrones and Marvel. I was obsessed with getting a cushy office job that would give me nice things. I thought that "Frat Bros" and "Valley Girls" were the coolest people.
But since 2020 my worldview has undergone another radical shift. Maybe I have rediscovered my true self.
During the quarantine of 2020 I check out Apple TV and one particular show on there reignites my interest in space and aviation. The return of American human spaceflight through "Crew Dragon" and the new Mars rover, Perseverance adds fuel to that fire.
My interest in sci fi came roaring back as well. I picked up Vernor Vinge's "A Fire Upon the Deep" and it gave me a sense of wonder I haven't felt since playing the first Mass Effect all those years ago. I finished James S.A. Corey's "The Expanse" series and while I enjoyed it I hope humanity would aspire to a space future that didn't have so much inequality and struggle. I am now reading Iain M. Banks "Culture" novels and with the recent advancements in AI and the UFO craze I think that vision of the future is much more believable than several years ago. And I started following a website that had a lot of space news on it, Ars Technica that also had a lot of other science and technology as well.
That along with the West Coast heatwaves ignite a passion for science and other technology as well.
I become more open to GMOs and nuclear power. I become more excited about "Nuclear Fusion". I remain cautious about AI but still dream of the possibilities.
Now I don't care too much about material stuff anymore. Now I think that astronauts, scientists, and engineers are the coolest people.
Now I wonder what our society would be like today if instead of being so mired in social problems and being obsessed with Hollywood level materialism complete with giant mansions, yachts, and private jets and instead going all in with science and technology because we dreamed of creating a future that looked like it came out of a sci fi novel.
Fully reusable spacecraft, nuclear and fusion powered rockets, rotating ring space stations, bases on the Moon and Mars, asteroid mining, asteroid colonies, O'Neill cylinders, generation ships, warp drive, regrowing lost limbs, etc.
What could we achieve if we dreamed?
What could we achieve if we started doing everything we could to stop global warming and control social problems because we dreamed of what would happen once got those under control and started redirecting massive amounts of money, resources, and people into science and space programs?
Looking back I wished I hadn't lost interest in space, sci fi, and science.
Looking back I find it sad that I never knew anyone from my typical suburban middle class school district during the 2000s and early 2010s who went into science or engineering.
I heard that the 1960s "Space Race" inspired many youth of that time period to go into science or engineering and those youth who went into those fields ended up giving us the 1990s tech boom. It seemed like society at least in my area was obsessed with either war or with Hollywood level materialism. Math and science were seen as things that were "Uncool" but that was more of middle school thing.
Perhaps if the American government was better in the 90s and 2000s and fostered a culture of aspiration I would have known at least one or two and I think that would have been a better world.
Could just one TV show be that powerful?
I heard that "Star Trek" inspired the creation of technology. Apple TV's "For All Mankind" is probably continuing that legacy by increasing interest for space.
