I just wanted to spread the word on a new enrolment increase in our Earth and Environmental Sciences online course this Spring - EARTH 123: Introduction to Physical Hydrology.
We received so many inquiries about the course and possible course overrides, that we've finally been able to add more TA resources to increase the cap to 425. This should happen sometime later today.
If you are still interested in taking an online 1st year science course, hopefully we now have the space for you! Just make sure to watch the numbers online.
The first week (last week) was light on content, more of an introduction, so you will not be missing anything important that you cannot catch up on this week.
Please feel free to post any questions you have here about the course, and I will do my best to answer them asap, and if you do enrol, you can also reach out regarding any questions on the content, priority tasks, etc.

I (19M) was always lonely throughout my life. I never had friends in school and never took part in any co-curricular activities. I would be jealous of my classmates with them hanging out with friends and being able to talk to girls, so I decided that after my high school I will try to make friends in college.
In college I met a group of people who I thought could be my friends. We would talk and have fun together. We would joke about each other. Even there were 2 girls in our group and with their friendly nature made me comfortable to talk to girls. Even there was a guy in the group who I would hangout with a lot. We would sit together and go to eat food together in the canteen or outside college.
I even started talking to a girl. She was really sweet and cute to talk to and we would bitch about our professors and at once shared playlists with each other. She was the one who asked me for my Insta ID. She would look and smile at me and wave at me. It was amazing. I thought my college life is going to be way better than my school life.
But it all came crashing down. In October me and my friends bunked our classes and went to the sports arena to play games. We were playing darts. One of the 2 girls, let's call her S, jokingly told one of the guys in our group that she would hit him on his head with a dart. So I jokingly told her that I would hit her with the dart but I accidentally pointed at her breast. I was looking at her face so I didn't realize it.
She got offended. She took the other girl, let's call her Z, and told her everything about this. Z confronted me and started shouting at me in the sports arena attracting everybody's attention. The Sports Officer came running towards us. He heard the entire story and took my ID card and told them to write a letter against me to the Dean.
After the letter was written he took me and the girls to the Dean who thought of this as a minor incident and told us we are legally adults and coming to him with these petty complaints. Then they told the Dean about me taking photographs of them and leaking them.
The day before I clicked S's photos of her eating a banana in the presence of our friend group. She took it very sportingly as a joke and I uploaded them to our personal Whatsapp Group. Everyone of us including her were laughing and giggling. But she and Z told that I took them without permission. They even told that I was never a friend and I was an outsider.
Dean got me suspended for 15 days because the next day our vacation would start so throughout November I was in my home. My mother uses this incident as a weapon to scold me evey now and then when we have arguments. And the worst was my crush.
During the days of my suspension I was in contact with my crush. She would even send notes of the classes of that day everyday throughout the suspension, but she didn't know I got suspended. Then when I rejoined college and started attending classes I sat far to my former friend group and behind my crush and she ignored me. Completely.
Throughout the whole day she would ignore me. That broke my heart. I was very upset and regretful for my actions. I think that my crush stopped taking to me because she got to know about this incident and misunderstood me. I have been hating myself for not respecting boundaries. Now I am all alone seeing my classmates enjoying their friendships and relationships. I think I deserve this.

I (24f) work for a small, publishing company, only seven of us in the office, two from home and then two more abroad. I have worked here for nearly two years, 40 hours a week + one hour unpaid for lunch each day and commute by bus to work. Our contracted work hours are 8:30-5:30 but our boss is lenient with start and finish times as long as we work our hours. This was allowed because my bus schedule would have me arrive at work anywhere between 7:50 - 8:00am. If I got the later bus I would be arriving either just on time or 10 minutes late and would have to stay later to make up that time which I don't want to do.
All of my coworkers live within a walking distance to the office but I live almost 1.5 hours away, 2 hours depending on the traffic when coming home. My normal daily schedule is:
Wake up: 5-5:30 (depending on if I need to shower or not)
Leave the house: 6:20
Arrive to work: 7:50-8:00
Leave work: 4:50-5:00
Arrive home: 6:45-7:30 (Afternoon buses for some reason like to sporadically cancel some days so it's a game of chance when I get home
Go to bed: 10:00
By the end of my work day I'm absolutely exhausted as my manager loves to micromanage and complaining does nothing as she's married to the boss so I have no energy to do meaningful tasks other than cook dinner and clean my room (I live with my parents still because the economy is trash) and socialising with my parents, our dog, and my partner online as we're long distance. I'm incredibly tired of having to do this daily routine 5 days a week for almost two years now. I want to get into my passion of writing stories and become an author of fictional novels and write children's books. I want to go from full time to part time so I still have a source of income but can dedicate some time to learning children's literature and publishing.
My problem is how to request this change to my employers. How would I phrase it? What sort of process would I be in for? How do I request to go from full time to part time?
I do love my job but I'm also beginning to hate it and stay productive because the days are too much for me now with a micromanaging boss. I know there are people with harder schedules, more work hours, more responsibilities, and that I'm young, but I don't want to live my life like this forever. Just one day off a week would help me so much with progressing my learning on children's lit, being able to make appointments that can only be done on weekdays without having to take holiday and just spend more time enjoying life.
Any advice is appreciated.

I'm a second year engineering student sa usa ka pretigious university sa Cebu. Nakaaamigo ko ug classmate since first year nako and we do have common interests ba that's why we did close friends at firsthand. Niabot lang sa punto nga, wala na ko niya gitagad after the previous day ana nga lingaw-lingaw. We don't have any problems gyud ug sigi gyud kog huna-huna ug ukay sa previous days ana. Gi big deal gyud nako na ang gibuhat niya since I am a type of guy nga importante kaayo ang connection ug friendship. Niya ikaduha napud na nahitabo sa akoa. But before nako unhan sa mga gipang-overthink nako, i try to ask him personal kung unsay problema ngano wala ko niya gitagad. And no response gyud

So, sobra kaayo ko nadisappoint knowing nga taas kaayo kog respect ug paglantaw niya as a person ba. Naabot na ko ug second year, wala na gyud mi connection as in 0% even sa groupings, wala na ko niinteract or nakigtabi bisag unsa pana kaimportante na schoolworks. Karun, I plan to slowly forget sa presence ug name niya until I graduate with the whole section na naa koy classmate like him bisag makit.an pa nako siya.

I have an autoload "GameProgress.gd" at res://Scripts/GameProgress.gd.
I have several function in GameProgress like

I get an error: W 0:00:04:0408 The function "save_progress()" is a static function but was called from an instance. Instead, it should be directly called from the type: "Node.save_progress()".

I did some poking online and some were saying to preload the "GameProgress.gd" but doesn't that defeat the purpose of having that script set as an auto load?
Seems as though the game is writing my "user://game_progress.cfg" to the correct location, but beyond that nothing is being called.

This post, in its fullness, is about Ta Mando and the Shiftverse, a setting we'll talk about in a bit but before we get started I do wanna mention something kind of neat.
I've vaguely alluded to how I learned about jumpchains, mentioning that it was through a CYOA creator who also does jumps. Pre-pandemic I was a member of the Make Your Choice & NSFW CYOA communities, and I saw FancyFireDrake's Goddess of Mankind CYOA and I really liked it so I checked out some of their other stuff. At the time I was already paying attention to NSFW CYOAs because of TroyxPage, specifically Grand Adonis which to this day remains at least in my top three favorite CYOAs of all time, and when I saw that I really liked Goddess of Mankind I wanted to see what else FFD had done so I looked through their stuff and saw stuff on Jumpchains. This was happening around the same time I was joining the Shiftverse as a player.
Through the power of coincidence I was joining the Shiftverse, an original setting by a friend of mine named Philososhy, at about the same time I was learning about jumpchains and beginning to really discover the power of crossover fan fiction and stuff like that. Here's a little bit of canon Luciano Lore; as a child I began writing, which is part of what I do professionally and semi-professionally, by writing self insert crossover fan fiction though at the time I didn't know these things had terms. I was raised overseas, as I am an army brat, and I was homeschooled, and my family wanted me to get into reading and writing, and so they had me write stories. I don't think they anticipated the lifelong rollercoaster that that would send me on. Anyways, back to the central topic.

The Shiftverse

Before we get started I wanna say that I'm describing a LIVING setting I'm a PLAYER in not the MASTER of so this information will be necessarily limited and imperfect. That said I'm a VERY passionate player, and given the RL circumstances of this setting and my character's circumstances I know a healthy chunk of lore, though I am not even scratching the surface due to this being a special interest of mine and me being a big nerd, plus my character also has had the chance to learn a lot of neat stuff about the metaphysics at play here and has just been taught a lot of cool lore on the interior of things, SOME of which I'm communicating here in a very broad sense of strokes.
The very, very basic gist of the shiftverse from a player character perspective, is that player characters are... reality TV stars whose lives are shows airing on multiversal, cosmic televisions, and they are watched by monstrous, unknowable beings, while the player characters go from world to world, for various different amounts of time, and just LIVE among the inhabitants of the world, free to do as they please and to interact with locals however they wish. It is a pure coincidence that this VERY basic gist sounds so remarkably similar, conceptually at least, to Jumpchains, though as a very funny matter of fact in the SPECIFIC setting I have a character in, there are others with player characters and another one of us knew about jumpchains before I started sharing stuff about jumpchains in the Ta Mando (the SPECIFIC world my character lives in, which is just one of many settings which exist for the Shiftverse) server (which is public, I'll be posting a link to the world-anvil later).
All of the player character primes (the term used to apply to beings who get sent from world to world for the sake of the tv shows, which does not encompass ALL multiversal wanderers in this setting, and also NPC primes exist) I know of are humans from a mundane Earth, in fact many of us in Ta Mando (though almost certainly not all of us) are from the SAME Earth. Certainly all of the player character primes for Kanda, which is the central location, "location" being used real loosely, are from the same Earth and about the same time period.
Primes get superpowers of various sorts to help us survive and live exciting lives. We're also capable of using the powers native to the world's we visit, though learning and attaining such powers isn't always easy. My character is Jonathan Mondragon, who on Earth prior to them becoming a Prime, was a Puerto Rican doctor. I did insert SOME traits of myself in them, they are non-binary, they are bilingual, they are a charisma main, but my ORIGINAL idea for this character was for them to be a Caribbean Homelander (they have a few different powers, namely the powers of Superman (Smallville style, so the powers are steadily growing and new ones become accessible over time) & a set of social powers, which along with Omega Beams and some doctohealer stuff represent their STARTING kit, in the time since they've arrived they've become a champion of a deity of truth and honor, gained the very beginnings of a dragon's power set, and have attuned to the Ta Mando equivalent to The Force, so we love a chaotic ass power-grabber). That idea... did not last long. Jonathan has been in Ta Mando for a few months now, and is a solidly moral person due in large part to the fucking nightmare they had to endure in the beginning of their time here (they were deliberately summoned by the people of a colony of Kanda who were in a bad spot, and Jon has largely succeeded in solving SOME of the problems but it was ROUGH), and the growth they've endured as a result of both pain and the good things they've done since they arrived. Some other primes include characters with really strong magic stuff, someone who is a Saiyan, and a person who is the Avatar, as well as people more attuned to the Ta Mando version of the force and a Space Marine, so as you can see our power sets can VARY.
There are other vague similarities with Jumpchains, such as vague similarities between items in jumps and items in shifts, as a prime tends to get SOME basic items at the start of a chain (usually a facility which serves as a house, which can differ from prime to prime, and functions as a bit of a less protected/more accessible warehouse) but not ALL primes get that and SOME primes get WILDLY more advanced facilities than others. OTHER items can be included as well, as my character has stuff for medicine and farming, and I know of other primes who've got uranium mines, lightsabers, and even pets as part of their starting kit. There ARE difference, one of the biggest differences is that a shift's (the in-universe term for a stint in a world/setting) length is NOT a decade and can last however long the eldritch beings who run the show feel like, though from what I, Luciano, know it seems like most last about a human lifetime, though there are some that last WILDLY longer than that. Another significant difference, as has been explained and hinted at to my character, is that remembering the details of a shift once you leave is not guaranteed, nor is having and keeping the same powers you once had, and all of this is similar to the idea of drawbacks in a jumpchain but these changes, as far as I know, across shifts do not confer any advantages in exchange like a jumpchain drawback does.

Ta Mando

I'm not gonna say much here, I'll just post two links. One is to the World Anvil for Ta Mando, one SPECIFIC setting in the Shiftverse (there are many worlds someone could get shifted too, Ta Mando is just one of them). The other is to my character's World Anvil page, Jonathan Mondragon. This is not SUPER up to date, but it's the beginning of a good set of articles for people in Soterri, as well as a way to learn more about my adventures. Also, this is a text-based TTRPG campaign and we play using GURPS. It's... weird. I'm very much a D&D person, I've been playing D&D over half of my life (literally, I'm 29, the first time I played D&D I was 13, and I had the books BEFORE then), so it's been an adjustment. I like it though, my character DOES feel powerful and has had plenty of kicks moments, but just LEARNING what I can do and the mechanics of everything was a trip.
Anyways, Ta Mando is my favorite TTRPG setting I've ever been in, there's a lot to discover, there's a lot more for me to do there, and I sometimes think about doing a Shiftverse jumpdoc. I think it'd be very funny to blend the two systems like how I've blended the Troyverse & Jumpchains, and how I plan to blend Akumakami64's Love Azathoth CYOA (have a little surprise announcement, as a treat, for making it this far, but do note that I'm in the middle of my busiest time of the year so this won't be for a minute), but truthfully I just don't know enough to really do it justice. Maybe someday I'll make a jumpdoc for The Shiftverse. it could be fun honestly.

Alright, so I've been pondering this a lot, and I've arrived at my conclusion on what "xxx" means. "xxx" is split into three parts.
First, it delves into Kendrick's cousin "Johnny," portrayed as strong and aspiring to be a rapper like Kendrick himself. Kendrick speaks of Johnny in the third person, suggesting he's unaware of Johnny's actions, like when he raps, "Johnny caught a body yesterday out hustlin'."
In the second part, Kendrick receives a phone call from a friend informing him that his son was killed in a dispute. Kendrick advises his friend to seek revenge, even implying he would do the same if faced with such a situation. However, the timelines and narratives align, revealing that Johnny is responsible for the death of Kendrick's friend's son. Subsequently, Kendrick's friend seeks vengeance by killing Johnny, leading to his imprisonment. This sequence prompts Kendrick to confront the consequences of his influence.
Finally, in the third part, Kendrick reflects on the societal implications of his actions, realizing the role he has played in perpetuating violence. He acknowledges the three deaths resulting from his choices: Johnny's, his friend's son, and indirectly, his friend's incarceration. Kendrick laments how his pursuit of a rap career led to such tragedy, understanding that his absence could have positively influenced Johnny's path, potentially averting the chain of events that led to the deaths.
In summary, three deaths symbolizes the title "XXX." 1 x for each person he lost, feel free to ask any questions

This is not a defending the game. I know it is not the best game. But every time I see reviews of Kincet games, Sonic Free Riders is considered the worst one. I haven’t played a lot of Kinect games but from what I seen, there are worst Kincet games.
I bet if this wasn’t a Sonic game, it will just be a bad game.

The 4th Quarter was equal parts encouraging and disturbing for me as a fan. We've seen the team's defense falter when their shots aren't falling, so I was happy to see the guys hold the fort down on the defensive side of the ball in the 4th. Things weren't perfect, but the effort was there, the rotations were good, and they forced Cleveland into tough shots and did a better job guarding the 3 than they did earlier in the game. Aside from JT giving up a stupid foul on the Garland and-one and the Horford goal-tending call, I can't think of any major lapses defensively in the 4th. So they did a great job there and that's the defensive mindset they need going forward imo.
That said, the offense in the 4th quarter was frankly atrocious. Everything about it was horrible. The shot selection, the off-ball movement, the tempo, you name it. They tried to slow the game down way too early and they fell out of their usual tempo when the game was far too close to do so. Thankfully their defense was up to task and we got the W, but I see real cause for concern on the offensive side of the ball. There was way too much iso, one-on-one action in the 4th, which was made worse by lack of off-ball movement. I can't be the only one frustrated with how this team forgets how to play team basketball in the 4th in close games? This is something they definitely need to iron out sooner rather than later; and it's such an easy fix to make too which is what makes it so frustrating.
What do y'all think of their play in the 4th? And are there any other encouraging or discouraging signs that y'all picked up on?

Hi! EVN Dev here trying to understand what makes a good visual novel!
So I am currently developing a VN with a focus on action. The best way to describe it, is a story that reads like an anime or a shounen. However, the fight scenes don't take up much of the plot. When they aren't taking place, the story is filled with Slice of Life, humor, and romance. It's actually light hearted, until something horrible happens and then it decides to be dark again lol.
Now I'm asking this to because I'm starting to wonder if "action focused" is a good way to describe my vn. Terms that come to mind include Nakige (heavy emotions), bishoujo (I like female antagonists), and dark fantasy.
The reason I bring this up, is because I can't seem to find VNs with similar genres to my game. Utawareronomo's story is a fantasy with similar themes, though I don't think it's as dark as my story per se. Stein's Gate was a really good nakige and a dark fantasy, albeit with a focus on mystery rather than action. I've heard Full Daemon Murasma is a good place to look, but it appears to be more focused on shock content above anything else (And it has themes that are triggers to me...)
If my post makes any sense to anyone, could I please get some insights on VNs I might be able to look into for reference. Ultimately, my game is an EVN, so while JVNs are good, I'd also love some EVNs if you know of any.

Our group of 4 adventurers are all new players (3 months) our DM has played for years. We have met bugbears who have attacked us and met some who were just going about their business of cleaning and repairing statues. We actually helped that group and they were friendly. So we know they are sentient and not all bad guys.
Our last campaign ended with us opening a door to several sleeping bugbears. 2 of our group want to attack them in their sleep so they have advantage. My wife and myself feel this is just wrong and want to leave them alone. Our game ended there. We're going to pick up where we left in a couple of days.
I don't want to split our group but I don't want to be a part of killing what could be innocent creatures especially in such a merciless way. I plan to try to talk some sense into the others but if we stand there talking in front of this group it could also awake them. Our last game didn't have much combat so I think they were just itching to roll some dice.
