TL’DR: Unreal- show about reality tv production- having scary parallels to Bravo. Do you or anyone you know work or has worked in reality tv and and give us the real tea?
Y’all - I have been watching this show called UnReal (free on Tubi if you want to check it out). It’s a scripted show about a reality tv show production except more like the bachelor than a VPhousewives type of show. Anywho - it is crazy to see what the BTS of a reality tv production might look like. It has given me a new prospective on everything.
In the show I’m watching, producers are assigned to specific cast members and are incentivized with bonuses to manipulate the cast to act in whichever way makes better tv. They are meant to connect with cast, have them trust them, learn their insecurities/deepest darkest fears, and use that against them, while seemingly (to the cast) making it that production is looking out for them and has good intentions 🙄 this relates to something Stassi said recently in the podcast talking about Taylor swifts new album. (Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/C6JaUKLgOfY/?igsh=MXVvbHpuczF6MWRiag==) She mentioned something that she was rewarded on VPR for bad behavior (screen time, attention, “star of show”) which is confusing. She says that then when she turned into this bad person they wanted her to become, she was kicked to the curb. Now, Stassi started this show as an adult, and ultimately, how she acts in any given situation is totally up to her. But in this show I’m watching, the lengths they will go to get “good tv” is bonkers. Total disregard to the person who has been manipulated into a character that is entertaining to watch. It is an abusive relationship I can only imagine messes people up for awhile. (this does not excuse Stassi’s awful and racist behavior, just her account of what it was like to be on VPR)
Something else that felt scary similar to this show and something Andy Cohen has said regarding the reality reckoning. In UnReal, the main character of the show is a producer lady who goes back and forth on loving the job/adrenaline and hating herself and hating hurting others. At one point, she claims that her job is about helping people. When asked who it is she helps, she says the X amount of people who watch this show is who she is helping. That basically ruining the lives of a small number of people for the greater sake of entertaining the audience (us) is worth it. When AC was asked about the reality reckoning of it all back when it first happened (Oct/Nov 2023), this was his response (source: https://www.etonline.com/andy-cohen-reacts-to-reality-tv-reckoning-amid-bravocon-exclusive-214199?amp) "You know what I'm doing, I am focusing on the joy that these shows bring people and everyone here is so happy and they're happy to embrace our 170 Bravo-lebrities that are here, that are happy to be here and embrace the shows themselves, So, that's really where I'm at. I'm in a place where I'm living my joy, like Oprah."
Idk it’s all a lot to take in. Has anyone else watched this show and thinking the same thing? Does anyone work in reality tv or know anyone who does for the real tea? I would love to get insight from someone who actually has experience working on a set.

Served just shy of 10 years in the Reserves, no combat deployments. I went to a DEERS office to get a veteran ID and not only did they say there's no such thing, they took the only ID I had that showed I'm a veteran. What do I use to get access to USOs? Military discounts? Access to bases?
It feels an awfully lot like now that my contract is up I'm just SOL. "Thanks for your service but it's like you never served in the first place."

So after being admitted to hospital last week with an infected gallbladder, on discharge the doctor told me I was now on the hot gallbladder list and should get my surgery within 14 days hooray!
Has anyone been on this and knows how long it actually takes and what happens next? It’s now been 7 days since I was discharged and I haven’t heard anything nor do I have any idea who to maybe contact to ask. I was still a bit dazed and in pain when I spoke to the doctor and of course thought of all my questions later. Not sure when this 14 days theoretically starts from and/or if they’re likely to hit the target. I signed the consent form for surgery there and then so will I have a pre-op appointment or will I just get a call to say come in on x date for surgery? Thanks if anyone knows!

I saw Destiny at a college protest in Texas the other day. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my chanting, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I went back to my tent I saw him trying to walk through the encampment with what looked like an ISIS flag.
The girl at the front was very nice about it and professional and was like “Sir, you are an agitator please leave.” At first, he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and started leaving.
When she took one of the megaphones and started chatting "free free Palestine" multiple times, he stopped her and told her to say free singularly “to prevent an electrially intifada,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she started just chanting "free Palestine", he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly into his own megaphone and saying that she was a typical privileged liberal white college kid with no policy substance, so he was falling asleep listening to her.

TL;DR Hosting and participating in AMAs just got easier. As a host, you can now schedule and promote AMAs ahead of time, appoint co-hosts, and announce when your post is done. Attendees can now sign up for reminders ahead of time, get notified when the AMA starts, and quickly jump to questions that the host has replied to.
You can’t throw a virtual rock on Reddit without hitting an AMA (ask me anything), where an OP (original poster) shares a key detail about their life and prompts users to ask them anything. Historically, AMAs have been regular text posts with certain elements that make it an AMA post: a proof photo that shows that you are who you say you are, a brief bio, and of course the iconic “AMA!” in the header.
Now, we’re supercharging these special posts. Using the new AMA tab in the web composer (coming soon to mobile) unlocks a suite of special tools that make it easier to spin up and participate in an AMA post.

Hello all, if you saw me in here last year about my bf trying to do navy diving, but him not talking to a recruiter. Well, we finally set a time and he went in to see a recruiter! And as what everyone predicted, that was a no go due to a past heart condition. Anyway, they gave him a pratice test and he got a good score in math and science. Immediately they gave him a booklet about Nuclear Propulsion. Immediately I thought that was a red flag, I know how the recruiters need to fill quotas, and they’ve only just met him an hour ago. I read through it and it just seems too good to be true. Also what I read on their website and what it says in the booklet doesn’t match up. I came on here to see what y’all were saying about it, and the overlook seems overwhelmingly negative. I tried to explain to him what some of y’all have said, but I don’t think I’m doing a good job. I’ve offered him some alternatives he can look at, like maybe Sonar Tech. However I can tell he’s got Nukes on the back of his mind. If anyone has the time, what are pros and cons of Navy Nukes? Maybe if I see the pros I’ll be more for it. Ultimately I’m really only the girlfriend, so in the long run it’s really what he wants to do, and I would have to deal with it. Thank you for your time.

Hello Quad Cities!
I have a few projects outside my house I’d like to hire an expert on, nothing too critical but some upgrades I’d like to make. Those include the following.

1. Removal of a single fence gate and install of a wider fence gate (chain link, backyard).
2. Reanchoring a section of gutter. (Ranch style home)
3. Help with back deck (20x30’) to if we can resurface or need to rebuild.
4. Some reinforcement or replacement of plywood sections/part of roof of shed which has damage from a falling tree limb.

I just got gifted these two diesel edt's but I find them too sweet for my taste. I am looking to trade for something else. I developed ptsd from abuse I received at my university. I’ve made a lot of strides since my time there and I’m proud of how hard I’ve worked on my mental health. Today I got one of those dumb alumni emails and it sent me spirally a bit today. I have always unsubscribed from those emails but they always keep coming. I’m just so tired of every so often getting a random email from them and feel the bottom drop out from underneath me. It took me three hours to get myself grounded again and I still feel jumpy. I am going to escalate my attempts to get them to stop by mailing an actual physical letter saying I want them to delete my info. I just didn’t need this today. Thanks for letting me rant.

Hi - this is from a parent who is on here - desperate - scouring the internet for answers - loosing hope and wanting the best for my child and family. My question to yall is - since many of you seem to be “survivors of TTI” - what would you have had your parents do? Instead of what they did? Obviously I get that some of you were send to a theraputic boarding school by shitty parents that were just inconvenienced by you, but what about the parents that tried literally everything to help but nothing worked? What about the parents that felt their other children were in danger? What about the parents that truly didnt know what else to do? WHAT DO YOU DO? What do you do when you have tried everything, multiple therapists, multiple psychiatrists, family therapy, 40k inpatient treatment after suicide attempt (of money you didnt have) Medications x4, no medications, boundaries, no boundaries. Tough love, gentle parenting. Your other children, being exposed to screaming and dysfunction, scared. The only thing keeping you holding on is your partner who is equally dumbfounded as to what to do. Every Theraputic Boarding school you look up is part of the TTI? There no such thing as a program that actually helps? What do you do? What would you have wanted you parents to do instead? If you are a parent now and had a child like yourself, what would you do? Let the child become a 7th grade dropout? Let the child become fully agoraphobic? Let the child attempt time after time until they succeed? Let the child continue verbal abuse until it leads to physical abuse? Give up your life, your other children’s life to deal with the ‘troubled’ child day in and day out for the rest of your life? Tell me - WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO???? (((And please dont say listen to them, because been there, done that. Life is not a lawless boundary-less education-less free ride.))

Hello guys, where I live I found an RX 6900 XT for sale at 435 $ (Seller says it is 'Factory Refurbished' and never used at the same time so I am not sure what it means) with 5 months seller provided warranty. Is it worth it to get for mainly 1440p gaming for the price? (I can probably look for a 3080 Ti for a higher price when it comes but this is what is available right now) Also would appreciate if you could suggest a good cpu to pair with it since I am not sure which cpu is a bottleneck and which is overkill. Honestly, after wasting $$$ over the past 7+ years of my life and repeatedly reacting to EVERYthing, I thought I'd create this post hoping someone may benefit from what took me 7+ years to learn:
Face: Don't keep touching your face.
What my skin has literally never reacted negatively to:

• My hero - QV cream [I would say CeraVe, but the ceramides and HA did not agree with my skin AT ALL]
• Vaseline Intense Moisturiser - Fragrance-Free [Not the petroleum jelly, which ended up worsening my eczema]
• Tranexamic Acid for my dull skin - [this is just trial and error, not gonna lie, may or may not work for you]
• Cleansing Balm - Any famous Korean or CeraVe balm should do
• Cleanser - Revolution soothing cleanser (the trick here is to leave it on for 60 seconds) or Oilatum

What it did react negatively to when I was having a flare-up, but I'd still recommend (because the reaction is more of a 'me' problem):

• Missha Revolution Time Essence

Lip: Avoid applicator lip balms, just cleanse your hands when you need to apply the below:

• QV cream (not the lip balm)
• La Roche Posay - Cicaplast Baume B5

Body:

• QV Cream
• Glycolic Acid by The Ordinary (I thought it would fix my KP. It did not, BUT it did help my skin restore its moisture, which I can appreciate. Definitely not a daily situation, but if you suffer from depression like me and skip showers, this routine should fall into place just fine.)

Eyes:

• Stop crying as much; it really messes with my skin, not gonna lie.
• Use no fragrance moisturiser, I guess?
• The dark circle creams messed with my skin BIG time, whether it was Cetaphil, CeraVe, or Eucerin. 0/10 recommend for people with severe eczema.

Makeup:

• Fenty Foundations - Pro Filt'r to be specific, worked fine for me.
• Maybelline Vinyl Lip (least irritating I'd say)

Sunscreen:

• I am wildly allergic to every sunscreen under the sun (heh).
• I've got nothing; maybe try Dr. Shetts? But we don't know the efficacy of this product.

Hair:

• Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo
• Oilatum
• Invest in a humidifier.
• Don't give something 'another shot' if it isn't working well for your skin the first time.

I don't live in Alabama but my mom does, and I was on the phone with her yesterday at approximately 8:40 AM her time (Alabama time). She halted our conversation to say that she had just seen a straight beam of light appear from a cloud and go all the way down to the ground. It stayed there for a few seconds and vanished.
She does not drink or do drugs and was just walking her dog at the time just before the thunderstorm. She is not superstitious at all so it really surprised me. I was curious if any of y'all saw this as well, or if you had any idea of what it could've been. It wouldn't have been lightening or a spotlight, She obviously knows what those look like. Thanks!

Hi everyone , I need your thoughts and advices on something. So, there is this girl that i see across the street, that i tried to approach to talk with, its been months ago now, and that time it didn't happened really well😅 i was awkward, i didn't really knew what to say, she looked at me with a surprised look, and she was really really shy and just said "no, thanks"😭😓..........anyway months have passed and i re-came across her few times recently and..........well im not sure but i think she's regretting it ? She doesn't avoid me, she looks at me a lot now, i think she's maybe trying to have eye contact with me, and I can't understand why ? but i can't look at her now, her rejection has made me shy with her, but i start to feel like she's maybe regretting it because each time she walks around me she looks at me for long, she's not avoiding me. Hi, I apologise for my poor English my first language is French I hope this makes sense.
I [20F] and my boyfriend [22M] have been together for more than a year. We've been doing long distance for 9 months. I'm going to see him next week as I finally have free time from work.
He has recently been very dismissive of my feelings and doesn't communicate with me. For the past month or so I have not been feeling good mentally due to university exams and work stress which has caused me to be more agitated than usual.
I tried to talk to him about my mental health and he didn't bother to hear me out. He shut me down and told me I was the one causing our relationship problems and hurting his feelings. [For context I have been overthinking a lot lately and I don't think he loves me anymore, he never allows me to express my true self he always shuts me down and treats me like I don't deserve to be heard]
Last night he shut me out again and I feel very low. I love him a lot but I cannot take it anymore. I cannot bottle up my feelings inside me anymore.
I am not breaking up with him... How should I resolve this?

Hi! So over the past week one of my friends reached out to me, let's call him Mark. Mark snapped me a picture of his close friend, (who we'll call Grant for arguments sake) holding a few Taylor Swift cd's (I'm a huge Swiftie so this immediately caught my attention) and after a few back and forth snaps between myself and Mark, and with Grant in the background, Grant asked for my snap which is fine. Do I usually give my snap to people I've just met through someone else? No! But I know Mark pretty well (I've gotten to know him over the past year because we're in a theatre class together) and he knows me very well so it's not like anything bad was gonna happen in the first place. Anyway, myself and Grant have now been talking for the past week, give or take, and we've called a few times over video games and whatnot which is another shared interest of ours, and I thought he was, and is a pretty cool guy. But he has been sending a few messages that don't come across as flirty (then again I'm awful at social cues so it could be flirting I have no idea) but also not necessarily general conversations you'd have with your friends. To me, it sounds like that's what he's building up to. He'd say things like "oh you like this song/ artist? That's such a green flag" "Your hair looks really good today" "Your makeup is super pretty" "If this artist came to town I'd take you to their concert with me in a heartbeat" and "Oh that song you liked? Yeah I learnt it on my piano for you" which is SUPER sweet and he just told me that last night and I appreciate it so much right? BUT with that, he has said a few things about people he knows or has known that are in the LGBTQ+ community that come off as a bit homophobic in a roundabout way and he calls a lot of things gay? I've never got what he means but anything bad happens to him in a video game or we play Apex (he kinda made me get Apex I dint generally play games like that but I was in a "whatever" mindset at the time) and he says "oh blah blah blah just killed me that's so gayyyy" and I don't like that one teeny tiny bit because I am a bisexual woman (he doesn't know that yet and I'd rather he wouldn't know) so I just wanna prepare in case he does ask me out because I'm not even looking to date anyone right now anyway, and I'm not into him romantically either (for obvious reasons) and even if he wasn't somewhat homophobic, I cant for the life of me form a romantic connection with someone only in just one week, I've gotta be close friends with them first tbh (I have no idea why but I never get crushes on people that quickly, it takes me at least a month, sure I can find people physically attractive but not on a crush crush level until I know them on a more personal level first) So all I wanna know is what to say if he DOES ask me out soon because I can't really go down the "I don't wanna hurt our friendship" route because theres barely a friendship there, and I also don't wanna upset Mark in any way by rejecting one of his closest friends and then I have to walk to my class the next week and see Mark and it could be awkward (I'm so so sorry if this was long I juat wanted to give as much detail to the situation as i possibly could) any and all advice is hugely appreciated and welcomed :) thank you in advance 🩷

Last week I got a blood test requested by my psychiatrist to check my levels for FSH, luteinizing hormone, free t3 and t4. I called her saying I got the results back and she immediately diagnosed me with PCOS and Grave's Disease. My levels were:
FSH: 2.1 (ovulating) LH: 3.7 T3: 4.88 (it says it was high) T4: 1.27
I know this subreddit does not have medical professionals but I can't be the only one weirded out right? My psych also said don't go to an endocrynologist because they "dont understand pcos". I understand that she also has it.
My sibling was diagnosed when she was young, and I don't display any of the symptoms she has. I have regular periods, I don't grow much facial hair besides the occasional single long chin hair. My periods are also not very painful, I get normal cramps, uncomfortable but I'm still functioning, and my libido isnt really super high or super low either. My weight is a bit high, but that was due to a previous psych doctor prescribing antidepressants/antipsychotics/sedatives that made me eat too much + gave me insulin resistance and slow metabolism.
My sibling suggested to just go to an endocrynologist + gyn to recieve further testing to really be sure, because one test for LH and FSH doesn't seem to be damning evidence to me. Is this correct or am I just wrong?
