I’ve been unemployed for about 6 months now, and it’s causing me so much financial and mental distress. I’ve been applying everywhere for every position that I’m qualified for, but nobody wants to hire me.
My opportunities are also limited due to not having reliable transportation. I haven’t been able to save money for a car, since my income has never been sufficient or stable enough.
I have about 5 years of experience on my resume, but my work history is very unimpressive. I’ve never held an important position, I have large gaps in employment, and the longest I’ve ever been at a job is just a little over a year.
I just feel like I experience a lot of unnecessary bullshit that wouldn’t necessarily occur if I didn’t stutter. For instance, I was terminated from my position from Amazon because I was accused of being on drugs and having “slurred speech”.
Yes, that really happened.
I won’t go into too much detail because that’s not the point of this thread. It’s just one example of what I’ve experienced as a PWS.
How many of you are currently unemployed, and how is it impacting your life? For those who’ve experienced long-term unemployment or job instability in the past, what advice can you give to those currently going through it?

i've had pretty intense fears involving being secretly surveilled, tracked, or followed for as long as i can remember. when i was first driving to school on my own, i used to take long, winding back-routes to avoid places i thought there were cameras, or to stop someone from "following behind me" (see also: going to the same high school), because i was terrified that a few moments of footage of me taking a turn too sharply or not stopping hard enough at an empty intersection would land me in legal trouble. that fear hasn't subsided since, just changed shape and context; cameras at intersections are now plainclothes officers waiting for me to jaywalk while picking up food in the middle of the night, and following cars are people that always walk their dog at the same time that i go to class.

that means that, over the course of the next few months, there will be several instances where i'll be being secretly recorded by agents of a mysterious company, with the express purpose of proving that i am doing benign things (like giving ride spiels or checking rider heights) wrong. it's not just lip service, either; the training course we went through had actual, not-staged videos of ride operators at other parks slacking off as taken by those undercover auditors.
how do i deal with this? i absolutely need this job, it's the only work i've been able to find, but i don't know how i'm going to last all summer with the constant paranoia.

I had an interview last Friday at 10am, I showed up 15 minutes early and was seen almost as soon as I walked in. The interview lasted only 15 minutes and they barely asked me questions. They asked if I had questions and I asked what they expected out of an employee and they said they wanted someone nice, responsible, and shows up to work. I replied that my father is a supervisor and I know very well about work ethic and it takes a lot for me to even call in. I made them laugh a lot throughout the interview and then they asked about what I wanted to get paid and I think this is where I messed up!! I said I wanted to be paid at least $14 through $15 but I’m willing to negotiate. They shook their head and then the interview was concluded with the woman interviewing me saying they liked me and the second interview will be held by the owner of the building. I wasn’t told when they were going to reach out. Do you think I got the job? My concerns are that I won’t get the job because the entire staff is white and I was the only black girl there. I made sure my appearance was clean and neat. I asked the people around me and they said my answers were good, but I want more opinions lol

2024.05.16 03:44 Ill-Wear-4846 HOA towed my car HELP [CA] [Condo]
saw this notice in our mailroom yesterday, warning residents of a tree trimming job the next day. moved my car to guest parking last night. went back out this afternoon to move it back and it was gone! HOA had it towed around 1am! usually we have to have guest parking permit in a car using guest parking, but according to this notice i figured everyone would be parked in the guest lot while this tree trimming job was being performed. now i am out $220 for the tow and hoa is refusing to pay it back, when they told me to move my car in the first place?? the notice failed to mention "you can park in the guest lot starting at 6am" for example, did not say don't park overnight either. just said the job starts at 9am so one would assume people would be moving their cars BEFORE that time! any lawyers what can i do here please help??

I’ve lost my dad almost 9 months ago and for the last couple months these stupid things have been getting to me. Thoughts of other people around me or myself getting hurt or forgetting (important) things. For example, I’m on my way to work and in a sharp turn I fear that the bus is going to knock over and everyone inside getting very hurt. Or for example having to check tickets many many times to make sure I didn’t mess up a date/time whatever. To This is very out of character for me, I hate it but can’t help it. Have any of you dealt with this too? How do you make this go away?

I was talking to someone the other day at a conference, and they were complaining about their tenure-track job at a small college in a small town which was around 50 highway miles from the nearest large city. They were not sure how much longer they could last, having to live almost an hour from Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and a Thai restaurant. (And yes, the stereotypes are real).
Of course, it's not just young millennials who get themselves all twisted up having to live so far away from their Starbucks and their avocado toast. Certainly, our minority colleagues must find it extremely challenging to be one of the only POC's in their department and also in their small town, and the same would apply to those of different religions, sexual orientations, and so on.
This got me to thinking: what is it really like for faculty and staff who live and work at truly isolated colleges? Here are just a few examples:
We all know that the standard party line is to take the tenure-track offer, no matter what and no matter where. But for those who did that, what is it like? Did you lean into the natural beauty and outdoor recreation? Did you get cabin fever with nothing to do outside of work? Did you just give up, move to the big city, and commute back into campus for a few days a week? How's it going out there?

- Northern Michigan University (Marquette, MI): over 3 hours to Green Bay, WI.
- Michigan Tech (Houghton, MI): 3 1/2 hours to Green Bay, WI.
- Western Illinois University (Macomb, IL): almost 2 hours to Springfield IL.
- Deep Springs College (Deep Springs, CA): 3 1/2 hours to Las Vegas, NV.
- Montana State University Northern (Havre, MT): 4 hours to Billings, MT.
We all know that the standard party line is to take the tenure-track offer, no matter what and no matter where. But for those who did that, what is it like? I just got a PIP (performance improvement plan) from my manager recently, slightly over 1 YOE. It was completely unexpected based on PR in January and recent one on ones. The letter my manager wrote was extremely harshly worded and slightly unfair in my opinion.
When they went over it with me their attitude was not in any way adversarial, maybe even having a light and encouraging tone, yet the letter that was typed out could not be more strongly worded and accusatory.
Looking back on my PR and very recent meeting notes, there were no indications of any performance issues, and I met or exceeded expectations on PR. The issues mentioned in the letter were addressing work I completed a few months ago were very specific and were not brought up at any point before the PIP.
From an objective perspective, I could see how my performance could improve on past projects, however my manager did not express any concerns to me, even told me I did a good job. I feel blindsided and would very much like to switch companies. I have been applying for the past few months with no offer though.
How should I proceed in this case? Speaking to my manager in person, they seem more or less lighthearted about the PIP, and the tasks seem achievable, but I can't get over the wording of the letter.
I'm also trying to understand why this would happen, I cant tell if my manager was pressured to do this or what is going on at this company. I can't tell if they want to layoff or if they actually want me to improve. It's at a non-tech company and the duration a month. Thanks

Alright, bear with me on this one. Im a big numbers guy and with this and experiencing my parents being horrible with money, has caused me to obsess over how my wife and I are doing with our planning.
Last year, my parents almost lost their house, found out my mom has a gambling addiction, and my dad has drained almost all of his 401k to keep their house as long as they have. All this caused trauma to my mental state and way I look at money. Since then, I really have obsessed over how we are doing.
Here is where we are at-
Im 35 and my wife is 38. Two kids. Live outside of Chicago. Wife has 160k in 401k, $27k in a pension from previous job, 30k in stock options as current job. 10% of her take home goes to 401k (makes 155k a year).
I do not have a 401k as I have owned my own business for 4 years and as a chef, I was never offered one before that. I max out my Roth but only started that 2.5 years ago. Currently have $20k in Roth IRA BUT here is the curveball. I do own the commercial space my business is located at. Have about 110k in equity in the building and should have it for years to come. My take-home is 95k plus a little extra from a side job so about 105k in total.
We do also contribute 200 a month to our investing account with Wealfront and 250 a month to each of our kids college accounts each month.
We dont live paycheck to paycheck but aren't stashing tons away each month. Once my youngest is out of daycare, we will save about 1200 a month and thats when we will contribute more to our high interest savings account and wife will contribute to her Roth.
I consider my building as a large portion of my retirement along with my Roth IRA. My wife's parents are pretty well off as well and have discussed with us that we would be receiving a sizable inheritance when the time comes (hopefully not anytime soon) in the range of 400-500k.
Any thoughts are going to be super helpful as this constant number crunching, fidelity app checking, etc is basically driving me nuts!

The Final Guess
Harper made eye contact with Amon, slack-jawed. Any trace of condescension in her brown eyes was replaced with panic. “You were wrong.”
Amon let her words hang in the air as he sank into the chair by the desk with more force than he had intended.
“They’re her parents. They would have more of a motive than the rest of the suspects,” he retorted quickly, repeating Harper’s earlier words with a bitter edge. “Is what I recall hearing.”
“There were no other options!” Harper turned back to the wall, and tapped her chalk against the board. The powdery stick threatened to snap in her grip as she read out the remaining suspect names. “The Hydra was in the middle of a fight, Cerberus was working, and Lamia could not lie about being innocent.” She looked back towards Amon. “We eliminated all of those together.”
Amon remained composed, attempting to keep his voice steady despite the tension caused by their blunder. “And yet, we both made a mistake,” he agreed, scrutinizing the board in front of him as if it held a secret answer they had missed. “We have no room to make another one. But it must be one of those three.”
Though Amon’s words were calm and measured, his furrowed brow and clenched jaw betrayed an inner turmoil of his mind working overtime.
“Emotions or not, I think we can be sure it was not Lamia.” Harper began to pace around the study, her restless movements a physical manifestation of her racing mind. “So we should take a look at Cerberus and the Hydra again.”
"I was guarding the entrance, my duty unbroken," Amon repeated Cerberus’ alibi, resting his chin in his hands as he leaned against the desk.
Harper nodded. “I really don’t think that Cerberus could have lied about staying on guard. Or that he would have. He would not risk the gods’ wrath.”
“True,” Amon agreed, his dark gaze following Harper as she paced around the study room. “The voice of duty is more eloquent than the voice of sin. At least, the father of Greek tragedy said so,” he added with a hint of smug satisfaction.
Harper stopped walking. Amon's words seemed to have pulled her out of her spiral. She looked over at Amon again, a hint of amusement in her brown eyes. She remarked, “You always quote other people when you're arguing. Do you ever speak for yourself?”
Amon opened his mouth, then closed it, his olive complexion growing pink as he glared at Harper.
"Understanding the thoughts of those who came before us is not a lack of capacity for original thought. It is a foundation upon which we can build our own ideas.” He stood up from his chair, folding his arms across his chest. “Ideas that we need to get out of this job alive.”
“And I deeply respect the writings of Aeschylus,” Harper began diplomatically, “But I think the tragedians would have very unhelpful things to say about our predicament. I say we focus on writing our own story.”
She shrugged, offering Amon a slight smile before she turned away.
“Alright.” Amon grumbled as he sat back down in the chair, noting that Harper had named Aeschylus before he had a chance to cite his source. “Let us keep going with the problem at hand then.”
It was unfortunate how easily they had fallen into their patterns of needless bickering, but he almost missed it as the room fell back into a suffocating silence. Amon had no other leads, and, for once, nothing else to say.
It looked like Harper had nothing either. She stopped wandering around and sank into a chair close to the chalkboard, the active analytical expression on her face giving way to a chilling blankness.
Amon was not going to give up. He pursed his lips, attempting to recall the details of every obscure Greek text he had ever read.
Yet, despite the gravity of their current circumstances, his thoughts couldn’t help but return to Harper’s comment. What a ridiculous thing to say– of course he could think for himself, speak for himself. Admittedly, he had quoted Aeschylus to show off, but the words of the Ancient Greeks were not irrelevant in solving a mythological murder mystery. The key here was that, alone, Amon would never know enough. It would always be useful to have input from a second mind, whether it was from a long-dead playwright or another demigod sitting right in front of him.
A second mind.
Amon shut his eyes, massaging his temples as he tried to visualize the fleeting holograms. “Harper. Who spoke for the Hydra? Was it all of the heads, or just one?”
“The middle head, I think?” Harper's voice grew louder as she stood and approached him, waiting for him to elaborate.
Amon’s eyes flew open, gleaming with a sudden excitement. “Well, if the heads can talk independently - “
“-then they can act independently!” Harper clapped a hand over her mouth in realization of her interruption. She smiled apologetically at Amon before continuing. “Sorry. But you're right. We focused on the wrong technicality. It wasn't what they said. It was who said it.”
“But your point about monster opposable thumbs still holds true,” Amon’s shoulders sagged slightly. “And we know that the sword must be correct.”
Harper shook her head sheepishly. “I don't think it matters. I knew it probably wouldn't after the first guess, really. I just didn't want to be wrong.”
The room fell into a heavy silence as the pair considered their final answer, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning. Harper scanned the chalkboard again, pursing her lips as she checked their work. Amon's jaw clenched tighter as his gaze remained fixed on Harper, lost in thought.
He broke the silence with a firm declaration, his voice steady and assured. "I feel confident about the Hydra and the sword. Do you?"
Harper nodded. “Yes. Do you want to be the one to tell her?”
Amon stood up from the chair once more, smoothing the wrinkles in his sweater. “I’ll leave the honors to you.”
“Okay,” Harper agreed, exhaling slowly. Her fingertips brushed against the base of her kopis as she called out to the monster, her voice even and clear. “For our final guess, we accuse the Hydra of killing the sphinx with a Celestial Bronze Sword.”
The sphinx rolled over and then stood. She took measured steps towards the demigods, eyeing the shortswords at their waists with a relaxed, almost sleepy expression.
Harper stiffened as the lioness drew closer. Even if Harper and Amon tried to fight her off now, it was not likely that they would win. This sphinx had the unbothered demeanor of a being who no longer feared death.
“You are correct,” the sphinx proclaimed, after a long silence. “And what an agonizing death it was,” Her melodramatic ranting was muted by the disappointment of her defeat. Still, she held her head high as she judged the demigods who had outsmarted her. “I must say that you have both exceeded expectations. If only barely.”
Harper and Amon exchanged looks. Harper took another cautious step towards the sphinx, saying, “You said you would leave if we got it right.”
“So I did.” the lioness agreed. “Humans spend their lives in pursuit of knowledge, you know. So often, they fail to apply it, only to repeat the same mistakes that they made before. You do not have the luxury of learning from your past lives, as I do. So I hope you have learned something that you will remember.”
She stalked towards the window, turning to offer the demigods one last prideful glance. “Goodbye, demigods.”
The Sphinx pushed the curtain aside and jumped through the open window.
As she left, the shimmering, translucent energy that had materialized the suspects returned once more. It swirled around the six weapons the pair had gathered, slowly dissolving them into sparkling motes of blue light. The door to the study room creaked back open.

Amon let her words hang in the air as he sank into the chair by the desk with more force than he had intended.
“They’re her parents. They would have more of a motive than the rest of the suspects,” he retorted quickly, repeating Harper’s earlier words with a bitter edge. “Is what I recall hearing.”
“There were no other options!” Harper turned back to the wall, and tapped her chalk against the board. The powdery stick threatened to snap in her grip as she read out the remaining suspect names. “The Hydra was in the middle of a fight, Cerberus was working, and Lamia could not lie about being innocent.” She looked back towards Amon. “We eliminated all of those together.”
Amon remained composed, attempting to keep his voice steady despite the tension caused by their blunder. “And yet, we both made a mistake,” he agreed, scrutinizing the board in front of him as if it held a secret answer they had missed. “We have no room to make another one. But it must be one of those three.”
Though Amon’s words were calm and measured, his furrowed brow and clenched jaw betrayed an inner turmoil of his mind working overtime.
“Emotions or not, I think we can be sure it was not Lamia.” Harper began to pace around the study, her restless movements a physical manifestation of her racing mind. “So we should take a look at Cerberus and the Hydra again.”
"I was guarding the entrance, my duty unbroken," Amon repeated Cerberus’ alibi, resting his chin in his hands as he leaned against the desk.
Harper nodded. “I really don’t think that Cerberus could have lied about staying on guard. Or that he would have. He would not risk the gods’ wrath.”
“True,” Amon agreed, his dark gaze following Harper as she paced around the study room. “The voice of duty is more eloquent than the voice of sin. At least, the father of Greek tragedy said so,” he added with a hint of smug satisfaction.
Harper stopped walking. Amon's words seemed to have pulled her out of her spiral. She looked over at Amon again, a hint of amusement in her brown eyes. She remarked, “You always quote other people when you're arguing. Do you ever speak for yourself?”
Amon opened his mouth, then closed it, his olive complexion growing pink as he glared at Harper.
"Understanding the thoughts of those who came before us is not a lack of capacity for original thought. It is a foundation upon which we can build our own ideas.” He stood up from his chair, folding his arms across his chest. “Ideas that we need to get out of this job alive.”
“And I deeply respect the writings of Aeschylus,” Harper began diplomatically, “But I think the tragedians would have very unhelpful things to say about our predicament. I say we focus on writing our own story.”
She shrugged, offering Amon a slight smile before she turned away.
“Alright.” Amon grumbled as he sat back down in the chair, noting that Harper had named Aeschylus before he had a chance to cite his source. “Let us keep going with the problem at hand then.”
It was unfortunate how easily they had fallen into their patterns of needless bickering, but he almost missed it as the room fell back into a suffocating silence. Amon had no other leads, and, for once, nothing else to say.
It looked like Harper had nothing either. She stopped wandering around and sank into a chair close to the chalkboard, the active analytical expression on her face giving way to a chilling blankness.
Amon was not going to give up. He pursed his lips, attempting to recall the details of every obscure Greek text he had ever read.
Yet, despite the gravity of their current circumstances, his thoughts couldn’t help but return to Harper’s comment. What a ridiculous thing to say– of course he could think for himself, speak for himself. Admittedly, he had quoted Aeschylus to show off, but the words of the Ancient Greeks were not irrelevant in solving a mythological murder mystery. The key here was that, alone, Amon would never know enough. It would always be useful to have input from a second mind, whether it was from a long-dead playwright or another demigod sitting right in front of him.
A second mind.
Amon shut his eyes, massaging his temples as he tried to visualize the fleeting holograms. “Harper. Who spoke for the Hydra? Was it all of the heads, or just one?”
“The middle head, I think?” Harper's voice grew louder as she stood and approached him, waiting for him to elaborate.
Amon’s eyes flew open, gleaming with a sudden excitement. “Well, if the heads can talk independently - “
“-then they can act independently!” Harper clapped a hand over her mouth in realization of her interruption. She smiled apologetically at Amon before continuing. “Sorry. But you're right. We focused on the wrong technicality. It wasn't what they said. It was who said it.”
“But your point about monster opposable thumbs still holds true,” Amon’s shoulders sagged slightly. “And we know that the sword must be correct.”
Harper shook her head sheepishly. “I don't think it matters. I knew it probably wouldn't after the first guess, really. I just didn't want to be wrong.”
The room fell into a heavy silence as the pair considered their final answer, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning. Harper scanned the chalkboard again, pursing her lips as she checked their work. Amon's jaw clenched tighter as his gaze remained fixed on Harper, lost in thought.
He broke the silence with a firm declaration, his voice steady and assured. "I feel confident about the Hydra and the sword. Do you?"
Harper nodded. “Yes. Do you want to be the one to tell her?”
Amon stood up from the chair once more, smoothing the wrinkles in his sweater. “I’ll leave the honors to you.”
“Okay,” Harper agreed, exhaling slowly. Her fingertips brushed against the base of her kopis as she called out to the monster, her voice even and clear. “For our final guess, we accuse the Hydra of killing the sphinx with a Celestial Bronze Sword.”
The sphinx rolled over and then stood. She took measured steps towards the demigods, eyeing the shortswords at their waists with a relaxed, almost sleepy expression.
Harper stiffened as the lioness drew closer. Even if Harper and Amon tried to fight her off now, it was not likely that they would win. This sphinx had the unbothered demeanor of a being who no longer feared death.
“You are correct,” the sphinx proclaimed, after a long silence. “And what an agonizing death it was,” Her melodramatic ranting was muted by the disappointment of her defeat. Still, she held her head high as she judged the demigods who had outsmarted her. “I must say that you have both exceeded expectations. If only barely.”
Harper and Amon exchanged looks. Harper took another cautious step towards the sphinx, saying, “You said you would leave if we got it right.”
“So I did.” the lioness agreed. “Humans spend their lives in pursuit of knowledge, you know. So often, they fail to apply it, only to repeat the same mistakes that they made before. You do not have the luxury of learning from your past lives, as I do. So I hope you have learned something that you will remember.”
She stalked towards the window, turning to offer the demigods one last prideful glance. “Goodbye, demigods.”
The Sphinx pushed the curtain aside and jumped through the open window.
As she left, the shimmering, translucent energy that had materialized the suspects returned once more. It swirled around the six weapons the pair had gathered, slowly dissolving them into sparkling motes of blue light. The door to the study room creaked back open.

The use case is presenting examples, so the program reads the file and puts a table in your clipboard that can be pasted into your document writing program of choice. Right now it reads .flextext files made by FLEx and can output examples in LaTeX and Quarto.
I'm at the point where the main thing I need to do is add input and output formats and test test test. For that I need some information and resources.

When I have a new song to learn to play (for a cover band) I like to listen to it enough so that I can completely "hear it in my mind" without actually listening to a replay on some device. This serves as a good yardstick for me to assess my actual playing against what I "know" it right. I've tried "just playing along" but it is easy to fool yourself into thinking "if it sounds good when I play along with the track" means "its right". In particular, it is easy to lose subtle timing and dynamics changes using this approach.
I'm a guitar player and when doing covers of songs with particularly iconic leads, I like to try my best to do an accurate cover (even though I know full well that the original bands live recordings rarely do this).
I know 90% of the audience will never know. Most of what they "hear" in covers is their memory of the original. But it matters to me.
But I've been confronted (blessed?) with an opportunity to replace a musician in an existing band and have been given a full set list.
My usual approach for learning one song at a time would take a long time. I'm thinking of just "playing along with the tracks" to be able to get "good enough" (a concept that kills me really) with the hopes of getting my approach closer to the original over time. That means an inevitable sloppiness at the beginning in exchange for just getting through. Or I could follow my usual approach and tell them I need more time. I'm torn.
I would be interested in opinions and approaches others have taken when faced with a similar situation.
Concrete example .... Foreigner's "Hot Blooded". The original studio recording of the lead on this is insane. Just throw your muscle memory out. All of my YouTube searches of live versions of Foreigner doing this tune don't even come close to replicating the original studio version. Yet I still feel that is my goal. My job. Another good example of something I find really easy to "approximate" but really hard to "nail" is Doucette's "Momma Let Him Play" song.
I'm getting close to and accurate cover, and I know I can do it. But I worry about the time I spend on nailing the nuances of this vs tacking the rest of the songs. At the end of the day, I'm pretty sure the audience (and even the other band members) might not notice. But I will. And it bugs me.
Inspiring ideas welcome.

I’ve (24m) been talking to this girl (23f) for a long time , and we had unprotected sex , I was aware of her HSV-2 status , she had one flare up and that was when she got the virus , she was SA’d about 4/5 years ago and that’s how she contracted it. Her first flare up was her only one , she’s tested frequently and she only tested positive the first time , she’s also on preventative medication . What is the chances I contracted HSV-2? I remember learning in school it’s somewhat rare to contract it with no flare up’s and even rarer on preventative medication, and many people have 1 flare up and never have it again and have been in long term relationships and marriages that have unprotected sex and even children without contracting the virus to their partner . We are setting an appointment at the health department to get us both tested and check her status and see if she needs to update her medication or if there’s anything I can take that can prevent contraction. I really like her and want a relationship and I don’t mind her status as long as we can stay safe , I’d say it’s not the best start at staying safe , but I want to take measures and want to know my chances of contracting off this one instance. Our condo complex bank of mailboxes was vandalized around the first of the year, front and back doors jimmied open. We are given 2 days per week to pick up our mail which they are holding for us at the local USPS, and at first the local postal manager did not even want to do that, he wanted to return everyone's mail to sender and did return some pieces at first until our condo board complained to our US Congressperson.
Residents are asking when we will have new mailboxes. Our condo complex has between 50 and 100 units. The local postal manager is telling us that they will not replace the bank of mailboxes, we are also not allowed to repair it. We have been under the impression that this was USPS property. Some other apartments and condos in our area have been similarly afflicted with vandalism and have been told the same thing by the USPS and they have obtained new mailboxes on their own. I feel that if we do the same thing that we will be acknowledging that the mailboxes are our property, but are they?
Our condo board has been contacting the relevant parties in local and federal government but they feel that we will be taken more seriously if we have legal representation communicating with the government officials. The question of just whose job it is to replace the mailbox bank and whose property it is constitutes the dilemma. To put up individual rural style mailboxes here is not practical. The USPS does still drive in to deliver packages to our doorsteps but not letters. We have been paying a special assessment this year for other infrastructure needs and this was voted on prior to the vandalism incident so we are feeling pretty financially strapped here and the quotes that have been obtained for new mailboxes are not cheap.
Does anyone here agree that we would benefit from formal legal advice for this problem? And if so, what category of lawyer should we look for? I have no knowledge of how often the USPS is sued or of the chances of a suit against them being successful. Thank you.

When reports of the new Bucks were on shelves in had planned to visit Walmart and try my luck but, through the course of the day at work I got tired and didn’t want to drive out to the store so I instead ordered them using the Walmart app. That was May 1st. Ive been periodically checking the order status and today I noticed there was a hold on the payment. I contacted customer support because they were supposed to deliver today and i didnt want the hold to affect that. I was told that it was just a pending charge until they actually went out for delivery. Was told they would deliver today and IF they didnt, to wait 48 hours and call back.
Cut to this afternoon: app says one of the Bucks got “delayed” and the other was “weight substituted” with a Wardlow fig.
So after 2 weeks wait after ordering the Young Bucks, i got a beat up Wardlow figure in a literal paper bag.
Guess im gonna take the Wardlow figure to the store and hope i can get all this resolved and get both Bucks. Though from what im seeing that might take visits to different stores. 😮💨

Confirming 2 things.

We know that this is the current pizzeria since is stated to be after the MCI or “after the tragedy that took place there many years ago” which implies that this is also the same restaurant of where the MCI happened, so this makes me think that this is the memory of Mike, these are actual things that Mike researched on internet to know more about his job maybe? Remember that Mike used a computer to search that, he used the internet, according to Wikipedia and this Quora question, the internet was opened to the public in 1991, so FNaF 1 cannot be in 1990. But that would bring a lot of problems, for example, in 1992 the minimum wage was of 4.55$, so it can’t be there, or at any point after 1991… UNLESS, Following what the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR says, if a person is under the age of 20 it can have the minimum wage but only 85%, but this expired in 1993, so, FNaF 1 is at any point from 1991 to 1993 and Mike is at maximum 20 years old. It can be at any point in between those 3 years, so we don’t have a definitive answer for now… Or until FNaF 2… Mhmmm So, FNaF 2 is directly a prequel of FNaF 1, since 2 takes place in 1987 and 1 is in 1991-1993. So, with the information that this game adds to the timeline, how can this help with FNaF 1? Yeah i know what you might be thinking, “but how can this help?!?!”, pretty easy actually. FNaF 2 takes place in November of 1987, more specifically, 8th to 14th of November, November 8th is a SUNDAY. This shows us that the laboral week of Fazbear Entertainment is from Sunday to Thursday, but Jeremy and Fritz spent until Saturday. So, FNaF 1 is in 1992. Finally, with this out of the way, i need to explain why does this can keep working on current timeline- I know that there's still people saying that more recent information make clear that FNaF 1 is in 1993, but to that let me tell you something... First of all, the Survival Logbook makes clear that it takes place on the week that Mike was there (also confirming that Mike was the Frightguard), we know this since the Logbooks night 2 to 5 title pages are in the FNaF 3 office, htat's obvious since we see how everything lines up perfectly, and the fact that we see foxy there makes clear too that Mike is Foxybully, so, upon that, the Logbook takes place in FNaF 3, but how? The Logbook is directly a log to all the stuff that happened during your shift, bassicly it's literally a in-between nights thing, so it makes sense that Mike would have it and fill it with stuff in between the nights of FNaF 3... Now... In the page 79 there is a cupon named "Pizza Party Pack" which costs 16 dollars, and Michael writted there "for real value, see page 61", if you remember right, the page 61 is where we get the "I" in the "my name" code, but for now, let's ignore that, because doing the same math, "5+4 = 9" and multiplaying it with 3 we get 27, so the real value is 27, right? yes, but that's kinda weard, because if we use an inflation calculator (or just do the math by ourselfs) we get that in 2023 it would cost 33.74 dollars, but that's logical, Scott made this book in 2017, the real value needs to be updated to the "present" day, Scott isn't a magician, he can't know how will go the inflation in 2023 being on 2017, and doing the math with 2017 insetead of 2023 we get almost the exact number, but it can't be right, like i said in another post the only dates where FNaF 3 can take place are 2015 and 2023, and like we see right here, it can't be in 2023, but wait, we are doing this taking in mind that FNaF 1 takes place in 1993, if we say that FNaF 1 takes place in 1992 then in 2015 is 27.00$. Also in the book there are several references to things that only appeared in 2015 the MacBook Silver, the dabbing (but used as a meme) and more, so, even with this conclusion, the only possible way to this to work is if FNaF 3 takes place in 2015… So, the definitive answer is that FNaF 1 takes place in 1992, Mike is 20 years old when the game takes place at maximum and FNaF 3 takes place in 2015. I'm starting to realize the past week that there's something that gotten a bit out of control. I don't really wanna say what it is yet, cause it's nothing bad, in fact if anything for many people it is only beneficial to their health. So I'm a bit hesitant to compare it to an addiction, as that feels a bit insulting to people who are addicted to stuff that destroys them.
But yeah for the past month I've started doing this thing a bit much. I barely do any of the other things I used to enjoy doing anymore, cause I'd rather just do this instead. I've fallen so behind on a bunch of things, like birthday gifts to family or tasks that I do really need to get done some time. I did my taxes a while ago, started doing them about 30 minutes before I absolutely had to send them in so I may have fucked up a few numbers. But most importantly, I've been sleeping about 3-4 hours every night for a month or so, too busy enjoying myself.
It's currently 3:30am for example, I gotta get up at 7:30am. But I'm having so much fun right now and feeling so happy, and I'm not tired at all yet. I'm just thinking I've only slept 4 hours for many days now and I feel fine, so I can do it again tonight. The thought of having to quit and go to sleep feels so sad to me. My girlfriend has long gone to sleep, she's always asleep by the time I go to bed and I am so scared of waking her up cause I don't want her to check the time.
Last week I went to sleep at 4am actually cause I did not have to wake up early the next day anyway. Then I woke up at 7am from having to pee, and the idea that I'd have hours of free time before work if I didn't go back to sleep just felt too good.
And I really don't want to be posting this cause I know what the responses will be, they'll tell me to stop it and get enough sleep. I really don't wanna hear that, and I don't know if I'll actually manage to follow any advice. I'm just feeling better than ever, it's so strange that that would be a bad thing. And I'm not really hurting anyone, and I don't seem to be hurting myself as far as I can tell, I'm mostly functioning. I'm doing my job perfectly fine and everything that's absolutely necessary, just everything that is somewhat optional is suffering.
Anyway I'll just mention what I'm actually doing all this time, it's really just listening to music. It's as simple as that, something I've really enjoyed all my life, but something has changed. I was on meds that greatly affect dopamine for about 6 years. I quit taken them, with approval and over time, about 3 months ago. And so many things felt better within weeks, not just music but being social, feeling emotions, playing with my cats, going outside. Nothing out of the ordinary really, I was behaving pretty normal and just finally enjoying life. But over time I slowly got more and more into music. It used to be just on fridays and saturdays that I'd stay up late, but it was so much fun that I quickly started doing that on workdays as well. Then I'd come up with excuses, can't go to sleep yet cause I still really gotta do dishes, at 3am...might as well have some music on while I do that. These days there are no more excuses, I just do it until I feel too ashamed at how late it is. And then I still feel terrible sad when I take off my headphones.
Well, I'm gonna get my 4 hours of sleep now. Too scared of replies confirming that I need to stop this right now anyway.

Project 1: We had to migrate data from one system to salesforce veeva CRM. My main responsibilities was to prepare template for data collection( template was according to the fields in target system ), collect data, validate it ( check for anomalies ), load it using salesforce data loader. Tools I was using (Excel and SQL basic -Insert, Delete, Update ). This was my first introduction to the world of data.
Project 2: Worked in the peopleOps team where I was working solely on reporting people ops metrics like Headcount , attrition, diversity etc all in excel. data collection, validation, report building was all done in excel where I would use pivot tables, vlookups, conditional formatting etc. Eventually we moved to ssis/ssrs reporting where a team of developers helped us automate these process. Then, I was using ssis and ssrs to get these reports and using SQL to query ad-hoc reports.
working on these 2 projects, gave me a good introduction to data analyssui and reporting and at the same time at the end of june 2021, I moved to the US Post my wedding. After moving , I spent time on upskilling my skills learnt SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, Python and started applying for jobs from June 2023. W
When I started interviewing, I realised I lack experience in handling situations as an experienced data analyst. I had trouble answering questions related to data quality like " how do you compare your data with the source of truth", " how do you decide on the source of truth", " what do you do when the data is bad, you cant do anything about it and how do you go about communicating this to stakeholders" because I was really doing basic excel and SQL stuff back at work which was very different to what I learnt.
What I realised was technical skills are not enough and I need to have a broader skillset.
I need help in understanding what I need to learn and in which order ? to be able to answer these questions? I am aware of topics like data modelling, data cleaning etc. I am confused as in which order I have to learn these? I am completely lost and feel like I am all over the place. Any resources/ videos will help.

In the RV with 900 hrs on a well-maintained generator on a trip, it died. It Revved high then a soft whunk whunk whunk. WTF. Immediately turned off. Had plenty of oil and the air filter was changed less then 60 hrs prior with the fuel filter. We keep spares in the RV. Might need to keep a spare carb now, lol.
Got home after the trip, and pulled it out of the RV. Found that the throttle flap screws (2) and flap were missing on the original carb. Hmm. Pulling the carb, found that the throttle shaft thru the carb was also hollowed out at the top into an oval. The flap was stuck in the intake... good. I presume that the factory didn't use lock-tite? Two small machine screws went thru the cylinder... one now in the exhaust and one in the head smushed flat. Thankfully they are soft metal. Everything else and the valves looked good.
So far: New Onan carb with .01 cent of lock-tite on the throttle and choke flap screws New Onan fuel filter New Onan gaskets all around (head, cylinder, valve cover, gear box, intake, exhaust, both sides of the carb) Added some grease to the starter drive gear and flywheel as they were very dry and the plastic shows wear Anti-seize on a couple of difficult bolts to make life easier later Reset the lash on the intake and exhaust to .05mm Cleaned, sanded and repainted the frame due light rust Cleaned the head, piston and valves of carbon build up New spark plug, gapped to spec Checked and cleaned the intake fan for squirrel and mouse issues Did not replace the generator brushes yet as not an easy job, its generating fine and stable when it died Valve and seats looked good and water tested
What might have caused the throttle screws to work loose (vibrations yeah), but why not a drop of lock-tite? Why doesn't the service manual say anything about checking them. It's easy to do. Is the designation KY for when it will stick it to ya? Did I miss anything?
Starting it tomorrow, I hope. Glad I am handy with tools.
