Hey all, I [m31] don’t totally know where to put this I’m just frustrated and feeling down.
I’ve been consistent with Covid precautions since March 2020, constant respirators, full vaccines, mostly work from home, haven’t been to a restaurant/bashow/etc.
It’s been tough overall, but I’m very grateful my partner is on the same page as I am with precautions, I’m thankful for all the ability I’ve had to avoid Covid during this time. It’s definitely been difficult, we were both performers in different ways pre-covid and it’s been difficult to adjust to severely reduced ways of performing, and we’ve both especially been struggling as people have given up all precautions and “gotten on with their lives” leaving even more limited space for safe things.
Anyway, we’ve been managing more or less ok this whole time, we have a few friends left (thankful for those we still do), but I’m hitting some walls. In my day job I’ve been sort of coerced into presenting at a conference (normal for my position) but I’ve been able to avoid them completely since 2020. I think it’ll be ok in terms of avoiding Covid, I’ve got air filters, I’ll be masked for the presentation/any other time I’m around people, and I’m driving there instead of flying (16 hours lol). At the same time, my music has been catching attention locally and I can perform masked no problem but there are still some venues I’m not comfortable with and I have to turn down.
I guess my problem is that this is literally everything I’ve ever wanted in my life, conferences, writing papers, talking to people, playing music, making connections, etc but I’m so stressed about all of it I’m dreading it. I’m not even worried really about getting Covid, I’m fine wearing an n95 for 6+ hours and not eating or drinking, I have eye drops/nasal sprays/mouthwash, and I only exist in reasonably well ventilated areas and not inside for very long. As far as I know I’ve avoided Covid so far (again very thankful) but I take very few risks. I’m mostly just stressed about being on guard all the time, all the questions, even well-intentioned, “why are you wearing that?”, “You don’t need that you know,” “I’ve had Covid 8 times and I’m fine” “why aren’t you coming to the fancy dinner thing?” It’s just exhausting. I had to explain 3 times to my travel office already why I was driving instead of flying and it’s just made the whole thing so not fun.
I’m writing this while I’m supposed to be writing the presentation/proceedings and I should be preparing for a gig but I’m just feeling like why am I even doing all this? Like I set out on this life plan ~12 years ago and it’s all finally where I wanted it to be and I’m just so sad that Covid is making it miserable.
I don’t even know what I’m looking for here. I think I’m doing all the things I need to be, I have people I care about, I’m able to do this presentation, I am playing music when/where it’s safe to. I’m finding outlets for most of the things I care about and I’m able to do it while staying safe and I’m so grateful that I can do that but I’m just so tired.
I guess that’s all, again I really feel very fortunate that these are the problems I’m dealing with, I’m just having a rough few days. I just want to feel normal. Just want to not feel like an outsider at every single turn. Just want to enjoy doing the things I’m good at without literally wearing a sign on my face that’s at best interpreted as “I don’t fit in here.”
I hope this isn’t fatalism/toxic negativity (rule 5), I definitely struggle with that sometimes, but I’m not giving any precautions up, I have hope for the future and I really do try to focus on positives. I’m just tired and bummed out this week. Thanks for reading

So I was born on March 10th, 1999, so I wasn’t around when the first 2 albums came out. The Marshall Mathers LP came out when I was 14 months old, and the Eminem Show came out when I was 3. Encore came out when I was 5, Relapse came out when I was 10, and Recovery came out when I was 11. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 came out when I was 14, and Revival came out when I was 18. Kamikaze came out when I was 19, and Music to Be Murdered By came out when I was 20.
So I was raised and live around the NYC Metro/Westchester County area of New York, and I wasn’t around for the first 8 times that he played in this area and in my state. I was too young to go to a lot of the shows that he had done pre-2013, and post 2013 when I was finally old enough to see him, it fell on either a school night or it was a long drive away from me or I was too broke.
Been a fan of Eminem’s since high school, and god I want to see him live someday.

So, to preface this, my dad [47M] and I [20NB] have a TERRIBLE relationship. I am in a divorced family and this is one of those situations where both parents are the bad guy. I'll save what I did to my mom for another story, this is all about my dad.
When I was a kid, right after the divorce, I started visitation with my dad every other weekend and whenever I specifically requested to see him. My mom wanted to make sure I at least got some kind of paternal experience. I remember that, at first, it was fine and I'd go spend time with him and we'd play games or cook together. He was being truly a great father to me.
This all ended very abruptly when I didn't see him for three months with no warning. When I saw him again, he took me to an arcade and we won some tickets and got prizes. He began telling me he was in college and studying so he could get a real cool job. I was around 8 years old at this point and didn't understand fully what college was for, but I just nodded and smiled.
We are about to leave the arcade and he apologizes to me by saying, "I'm sorry I haven't seen you much. I'll try to see you more, but only if your mom will let me."
I didn't see him for another 3-ish months. This happened for 2 years straight and every time he would tell me that my mom wasn't letting him see me. This made me hate my mom growing up and started my feud with her that lasted well into my teenage years. I had always just assumed he was tell the truth because why would my dad lie to me?
Eventually we went back to the every other weekend schedule and whenever I wanted to take a walk to see him (he lived less than a mile away at this point). I, at one point, went on a walk to see him and a cop pulled over by me asking why a 10 year-old little girl was walking down a busy road by herself. I told him and he drove me to my dad.
My dad was furious and yelled at my mom, thinking I was being dropped off and not walking. He eventually let that go and I started staying at his house more often. That's when things started to shift in his personality.
I learned some interesting things while living with him! Let's make a list of these things:

1. My dad served 4 years in the U.S. Military as a First Private in the Army.
2. My dad has a multitude of mental issues like Bipolar 2 Schizoeffective and Autism, among other things.
3. My dad is medicated for all of his problems.
4. My dad never knew about me SA and r*** situation.
5. My dad is a devout and pious Christian with severe right-wingest ideals.

How many of these are true? Numbers 2 and 5 are true, the rest are absolute lies. Now, I don't care what your political or religious beliefs are, just don't shove them down my throat. Keep them to yourselves, please and thank you. Also, mental disorders are something people can have, and that's fine. Just make sure you're medicated (if you need to be) and make people aware of your stuff if you live with them.
The other things are things I found out weren't true via other people (or myself, in the case of my r***). Turns out, everyone in my family knows my dad is crazy and just rolls with it. I was advised, by my grandmother, to just say yes or okay and move on from whatever he says. So I did.
I spent 6 years of my life just pretending and acting like stuff was okay. I came out to him as non-binary and pan. His answer was to take me to therapy and insist I was being brainwashed by Antifa to believe that any of "that stuff" was real. I was banned from any form of lesbian activity while living with him.
At one point I had come home late from a friend's house (I was 18 and spending time with my friend for her birthday) and he got mad at me. I told him I had texted him to tell him that traffic was bad and I would be a bit late. He says I'm lying and refuses to look at his phone to check for a text.
He then says I am a c*nt and that I have 24 hours to leave and find somewhere else to live. I, according to a lawyer friend, don't have to listen to him as I am a tenant on the lease that pays the majority of rent and can request 30 days to leave from the housing authority as he does not own the home we live in. I decided to say whatever and just look for somewhere else instead.
I end up moving in with a random guy, getting pregnant with twins, moving in with my mom (who is being strangely nice and accommodating) cause the guy who got me pregnant is a drug addict and abuser, and then losing my kids to my mom in a custody battle over my financial stabily after they turn 5 months old and she kicks me out of her house to be homeless.
It's at this point in my life I am fed up with my family. I'm angry, sad, and confused. So, I decided to move out to California to live with a close friend (who became my partner for a bit and then told me they don't love me, so now I'm gonna move again). I called my grandmother to tell her the plan and she said I should tell my dad.
I don't know why I even entertained the thought, but I said sure and called him. The conversation started normally and everything was fine till I told him I was headed for California. He freaked out and said that I shouldn't cause people were getting robbed and stuff. I told him I wasn't going to a big city we're stuff like that was happening and that I would be in a small town in a neighborhood of retired older residents.
He starts bringing up old stories of how I used to lie about picking on my brothers and would sneak treats as a little kid, and brought up old stories about the things I'd do as a kid. Normal dumb kid stuff that kids to to test waters on what they can and can't do. He then got all sorts of egotistical and rude with me and said, "Well, don't come cryin' to me when everything goes downhill, little girl."
I snapped. It was at that moment that I lost my sh*t and just unloaded everything on him.
"Oh, really, Dad? Like you did when we couldn't pay rent and I was a teen prstitute for a year and a half cause you came crying to me with your problems? I don't have time for your BS and I really don't have time for any more of your lies. 4 months in the military, not 4 years. Never been medicated for your problems when you're supposed to be on high dosage lithium for your problems. When you said you never knew what happened to me at 13, you lied! It was your friends that did that sht! Or maybe we should talk about the gender identity crisis I went through because of you? I was confused for years because of that! You wanna talk about lies and deceit? Address your own."
It was at that moment that I heard a voice in the background say, "Seriously, Matt?"
My dad had his phone on speaker and was at work during a meeting with his coworkers and boss.
Haven't heard from him since he hung up that call. 🤣

Name- winner takes all
Type- Specialist
This nen ability allows one to challenge a fellow nen user for some form of competition. They may also receive challenges from others to start the hatsu. The competition is a 2 out of 3 wins. It can be any game or even a fight but must be agreed upon by both parties for it to take effect. The loser of the previous challenge gets to choose the next challenge. The competition takes place in a separate dimension where only the participants may enter. The dimension changes itself in order to best fit the competition chosen. The winner of the competition takes everything the opponent had. This includes their total nen, nen type, hatsu, skills, talents, memories (without emotional attachment), and physical attributes. If the winner wants, they may instead have the lower become their loyal property instead. Thus, it will make it so the lower has to obey the winner to the best of their abilities.
Example- say Gon challenged Killua, if Gon won he would get all of killuas training, assasination talent, nen talent, physical attributes, intelligence, transmutation nen affinity, hatsu, memories (without emotional attachment), and have killua's total nen added to his own. This stacks onto his own attributes. If Gon lost killua, I would gain this from Gon instead.
Conditions 1- The challenger will only be unable to use any hatsu's for the challenge
2- The nen ability moves to whoever wins
3- No outside interference is allowed in the challenges, whether that be other peoples hatsu's or performance enhancing drugs
4- Both participants are healed to their peak form only for the challenges. If you are injured, then you will be healed for the challenges then after the challenges given back your injuries.
5- The one challenged has the right to refuse the challenge, in which case the hatsu does nothing
6- The one challenged gets the first choice of the challenges
7- The one challenged can use any hatsu they like for the challenges
8- Once the challenges have started, there is no way to stop them until someone has won
9- In order for the owner of the nen ability to initiate the nen ability, the one being challenged or the one challenging the owner must know what's at stake.
10- There is no reversing the challenges. All results are final.

Long story short, my ex w/ diagnosed (severe) BPD did an abrupt 180 and dumped me last spring after 5 ish years of being best friends/together, and right before we were supposed to move in together (marriage discussions were ongoing, etc). They accused me of physical and emotional abuse and other things like saying I was the only person who made them feel like killing themselves, etc. Lots of fallout after that, I landed in the ER and then an IOP, did lots of therapy and got myself recalibrated (diagnosed with PTSD), and eventually stopped letting them gaslight me and cut contact last July.
I haven't blocked them on social media, but I did mute them and don't see their insta stories i.e. I consider choosing to not look at their socials EVER a therapeutic exercise for me (vs removing the choice by blocking them). I have no delusions about this person, I don't want to talk to them, I don't want anything to do with them, and I am very aware of how severely I was mistreated, emotionally abused, etc. I have empathy for them to an extent... but limited. For a while, they appeared to be on a similar trajectory of having muted me but not looking. Then I saw them show up in my story views a couple times between september and February (on dates that were important to us, like my birthday). I wasn't thrilled but I was like whatever your hole to dig buddy.
In the past couple months tho, I've noticed a sharp uptick in how many times this person shows up in my story views. it's been at least a couple times a month, and up to 3 times per week (if I post that many stories). I was planning to be an adult about things cuz blocking someone seems both childish (and ineffective) to me, but the frequency with which I see their name on both my private and my band's (public) account stories is starting to weird me out. If I abused them the way they said I did, why look at my profile at all???? And why leave an etrail that I can see? They could easily just stalk me without clicking on my stories and I'd never know.
Part of my motivation in not blocking them(besides the fact that it would be ineffective) is that it can't be healthy for them to look at my pages and blocking them from easy access would be an act of kindness I dont feel like extending at this time. But on the flip side...seeing their name regularly is starting to weird me out, and I legit cannot understand why they'd be donig this and leaving a trail. Right now my rule is they will get instantly blockd if they ever like/comment/react/IM me on any platform...but idk i am definitely starting to feel paranoid
Has anyone else ever had a BPD ex act like this? What happened??? we ended on such abysmal terms i'm just really at a loss.

This keeps happening to my pc these past few days. I haven't been doing anything different than normal, I haven't downloaded any mods, files, nothing. Haven't dropped my pc off a desk or filled it with lava. Clueless about what's going on. I am no computer wizard, I'll say that, but I have no idea.
PC is about 3.5 years old, haven't changed much except added more RAM and an SSD last year. Only thing that's ever made it struggle even a little bit is baldur's gate 3.
Since saturday, it will do the following without any warning: Screen turns black. Monitor doesn't say that it lacks input, but the monitor is blank. The fans go nuts until I turn my PC off. It then will cut incoming and outgoing discord and game audio, but leave spotify playing. The pc does not turn off, it simply turns into a paperweight with loud fans in it.
Nothing happens to indicate it's coming. Cpu, gpu, and memory are all as normal, no unusual spikes. I see no unknown processes in task manager, and the normal amount of windows processes.
Usually happens either <10 minutes after booting up my pc, or a little bit after I close a game. Never had a chance to clean the electronics, but a month or two ago I wiped down the interior of the case and all the fans. The fans have always been loud, but it sounds like a jet turbine when this happens.

My desktop is too powerful for my daily and gaming activites, so I decided to sell it to buy a new laptop. However, I don't really know what price tag I should put on it, as I found strangely high the price that pcpricer.net gave me: 490 dollars.

i recently found this show out and am obssessed with it. so, as i regularly do, i will share some opinions i have about the show. i also know it was cancelled early, so i know the story should've been depeloved further.
so, here are my opinions, and in the honor of Jenny Nicholson, i have organized them into a numbered list.

1. reverend putty kinda gets too much credit sometimes. i know its nice he accepts stephanie and they bond, but wasn't it his idea to not let anyone give orel advice? also, the advice he gave orel was terrible. (god's chef) for example. i know compared to some of moralton's other citizens he might seem like a nice guy but he is deeply flawed and hypocritical.
   
2. elaborating on God's Chef, i tend to have a pretty high tolerance to edgy/gross out humour, but Orel impregnating women was actually really hard to watch and i just hoped the episode would be over. the way it's treated as a joke when in Alone they handle the subject matter in a much more serious way makes me wonder if episodes like god's chef were necessary. also i know about alone being one of the reasons they cancelled the show early and it enrages me.
   

3.the egg stuff. just like god's chef, all the scenes with the eggs made me viscerally uncomfortable, the long shots of the chickens about to lay their eggs on season 2 to the egg imagery on season 3, like clay rubbing eggs while making out with mrs censordoll and having that vision of him falling out of an egg (i still don't get what that's supposed to mean, but it felt pretty uncomfortable to watch. some people say it's about clay's oedipus complex but i don't quite get it.
4.I don't know if this counts as an opinion or a plot hole, but in the beginning of the series we see clay watching Danielle pee and then introduces himself to him, getting ignored by danielle. later in the show we find out danielle had an affair with bloberta to get closer to clay, which implies there was something between him and clay at least since shapey was born.
5.elaborating on Stopframe's affair with Bloberta, i just find it so weird that he would have a child with her to get closer to Clay. In the season 1 finale we see how mad Clay gets at the possibility of Shapey not being his biological son and Bloberta cheating, and he doesn't give an f about Shapey. If Clay found out about the affair between Bloberta and Danielle he would be really upset, and more upset at Danielle than at Bloberta, seeing as he cares much more about him than her.

1. Bloberta is not to blame for Clay's alcoholism. I've done a post about this and i think Bloberta is a terrible person for many reasons, but not for introducing Clay to alcohol. Anyone else could have introduced it to him and the same thing would happen; Clay clearly has an addictive personality and it seems like his mother drank and smoked quite a bit as well. We should be mad at Bloberta for the psycho way she gaslit Clay into marrying her and her neglect for her children rather than for his drinking.

7.This is just a random question, but we see Orel running for Pope at one of the episodes in the future. That makes me wonder if he became catholic. But that's just a theory. insert matpat joke

I'm looking to finish up a small keepsake box that I've made (5" wide, 9" long, and 3" tall). The joints have been glued now so I'm looking to do some final passes with the hand plane to smooth out the dovetails and finish the piece!
Having difficulties getting the box to be stable enough between bench dogs or alone in the vise, given it's no longer a single board.
I recall seeing something like this: https://www.theenglishwoodworker.com/drawer-and-carcase-holding/ which Richard refers to as a planing sleeve but I cannot seem to find more content online about this jig.
How do you go about work holding glued up boxes/drawers/cases?
Maybe I'll just sand it :(

Male, 27, 175, 60kg Medication: rabeprazole 20mg x 2, citalopram 20mg, amitriptlyne 10mg Medications situational: lorazepam 0.5mg, cetirizine 10mg.
Been struggling for 5+ years with lpr. Sometimes i have anxiety and was prescribed lorazepam for stressful moments. The thing is ive noticed my throat burning tends to disappear for a day at the day lorazepam was taken.
So the question does benzos just numb the pain in my throat or its something else like functional gerd? Im on ppis (rabeprazole 20mgx2) right now doing 3-6 month treatment for lpr. PPIs help but not fully, i know lpr healing is very slow. I tried mirtazapine in past, it didnt help with lpr, rn trying amitriptlyne 10mg (3rd week) and citalopram 20mg, but no results so far.
Can someone tell me why benzos help?

It’s time. Baby girl is 5.5 months old. Part of me is a little sad, and feeling a bit guilty about it. But I also know I’m done missing out on 2 hours of the day with her and my husband. I want my body and my summer adventures to be pump free. (Yes I’m selfish. It’s fine). I never intended to EP. But I’ve been doing it since she was 3 days old.
I’m struggling to wean. Mostly because I don’t know how?
I was 6ppd/ 120 minutes for the last 2 months. About 10 days ago I dropped my MOTN pump to allow more sleep before 12 hour RN shifts so I’m down to 5ppd consistently/ about 100 minutes. My supply has changed by a grand total of 4 oz (I only consistently made peak 28-32oz).
The last 2 days I tried to stretch my pumps to 5.5+ hours between during wake hours. To move to 4ppd/90 minutes. But dang does that hurt. I’ve been miserable and had to throw in an extra pump since I got up already this morning.
I have an luxury at work and my management is super supportive (I’m an OR nurse) getting me out of the rooms 3x per day - about 4.5/5 hours is when I start to get uncomfy So pumping 0400/0930/1330/1730/2130 is my consistent timing.
I guess - is there a better way? Keep to 5ppd and just decrease from 20 minute pumps to 17 and then down from there ?
Help!
