Hmong new year

I'm a digital painter, I used to do commissions and earn a living through art but for the last few years that has stopped feeling right to me. I decided I can afford to take a break and do my own thing for a while and hopefully build a different type of income.
I used to paint random made-up fantasy creatures and then last year I picked dinosaurs then moved on to calling it Paleo Art and now I know I want to make 3d models(in Blender) of dinosaurs that are game ready because it combines things I've always drooled over (beautiful 3d sculpts), things I always wanted to know (paleonthology) and a bunch of random skills I have (like game animation). Hopefully I can end up selling models on platforms such as Sketchfab, that's a wonderful place to look at dinosaur models btw!!
I thought writing this might help someone who's also early on the path to become a paleoartist. I know from my experience working that having a diverse skillset pays off, especially 3D skills, as the position "Creature artist" in every studio I've ever looked at applying for means "3D Creature Artist", for some reason it's too obvious to bother putting it in the name.
If sculpting is intimidating to some, let me say this: If you can draw, you'll either be naturally good at sculpting or, if sculpting comes hard to you then it will teach you a ton about drawing, sculpting lives in the same cluster of brain cells as 2d art does.
When taking commissions for paintings, I sometimes told my clients I was doing animation/3d/video editing on the side and I often got extra work that way, and got to learn new skills while earning a bit of money and getting to see my work used in real projects.
I either just can't ever settle on anything or I never found my place before but I think I have now, I think my current ambition to make paleo-art and focus on 3d models is broad enough and just a good fit. I wouldn't mind doing this for my entire career. If I want to do something fancy like starting a YT channel, I can always do when I earn enough income, I don't want to make videos while worrying how much they'll pay.

I'm 27 years old and just finished my master's degree in agricultural science from the University of Georgia. Growing up on a family farm, I've always been deeply involved in agriculture. This week, along with graduating, I also had back surgery and will be recovering for the next 6-8 weeks. This period has given me a lot of time to reflect on my future career and job search.
My fiancé is a successful State Farm agent with 10 years of experience. She believes I would be a good fit to join her in selling insurance and help her grow her business, especially focusing on life insurance, which she says is an area needing improvement.
Our relationship is seamless; we have never argued and see each other as equals. We're very open and supportive of each other. Despite this, I have some reservations about this potential career change. I have no experience in insurance or sales, and I'm concerned about mixing our home life with work, which could put stress on our relationship.
I know I'm a quick learner and believe I can tackle new challenges, but the self-doubt is real. I'm also aware that this feeling is probably normal when considering such a significant shift in career paths. On paper, working together seems ideal, and I think I would enjoy helping her grow the business beyond her expectations.
I'm considering starting to shadow her at the office while I'm recovering and possibly taking licensing classes. However, I'm uncertain about how this decision could impact my future and our relationship.
What do you all think? Should I start shadowing her during my recovery? Should I go ahead and take the licensing classes? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

This story takes place in early 2000s. My dad is a plumber with his own small company; they signed to do plumbing to a new construction of 3 townhouses built by his mates (let's call him "Bob") company.
These houses were built on slope of a hill. From the beginning, one of the neighbors directly above the site was vehemently against these houses since they would affect his view. He went full Karen "protecting" his precious view of ...a street. Not waterfront, fields or forest. A regular, suburban street. The Karen was an engineer and worked in city district planning, meaning that while he had no legal basis for his complaints, he was very efficient at generating complaints, delays and pushing for additional review. To put it plainly, guy was an absolute pain in the butt. For a giant construction conglomerate that might have not been a problem, but a bunch of local small businesses, the delays were almost catastrophic.
One of Mr Karen's demands was that the slope of the roof should be flattened, lowering the buildings by around 4 feet. It doesn't sound so unreasonable, until you take in to account this was up north and there was heavy snow every winter. No or insufficient slope would mean the snow would build up, causing heavy extra burden on the roof and requiring manual removal. Karen suggested they build some sort of weird pump system to remove snow; this would greatly increase costs, and was weird and unnecessary of you just built a roof suitable to local climate. And this guy was an engineer who really should know better.
But here's where Mr Karen fucked up. He sent that demand from work, using the official city letterhead and his full name and title. One day, my father's friend Bob (the builder), was at a builders convention. And who does he see at a booth if not Mr Karen's boss? He whips out this letter and walks up to Mr. Boss and asks him, if this really is the city's official take on their project. Mr Boss was very interested to see this letter and had a nice little chat with Bob.
Soon after, the complains stopped. There were no delays and construction got moving. Turns out, Mr Karen had way overstepped; he lost his high-paying job at the city and ended up moving away soon after the houses were finished. My dad ended up liking the place so much he moved his family there, and we lived there happily for next 17 years, having great views of the house that Mr Karen didn't live in anymore.

My name was slandered SO badly by the quinte.ca news that it is literally criminal and VERY VERY messed up.
According to this article I am a Sex Predator and was trying to lure a 13 year old for sex using the internet.(!!!!!)
This is a long story so I’m going to do my best at condensing it so people actually read it.
This is what happened: With a fair amount of spare time on my hands I decided to do something that would create a positive, long lasting impact. I knew there had to be some real sex predators in a city this size so I decided to see if any ADULTS online were interested and fully follow through with preying on a minor. Less than a few minutes after creating a profile I was contacted by a Belleville Resident who indicated DIRECTLY to me that he was “ok” with the decoys age.

I told him my age was TWELVE. 

Within the first 5 minutes of the conversation. So for the next five days he was essentially grooming who he believed was 12 year old and attempting to meet him that upcoming weekend. At no time did I initiate or direct the conversation to move in the dirty direction. I wanted to not only provide as much solid evidence as possible for the police, but I was thinking forward to do the same for the future prosecution when this case ultimately reached the Court….( at least In my mind, this is what I was doing it for! )
Speaking to him about 45 minutes each day I was shocked at how this was actually happening. Shocked at how quickly, unaffected and confident he was to be luring a 12 year old to his apartment.
Most disturbing was the bits of information that was confessed to me. How he “had to be really careful” because he is already a registered sex offender due to being caught with another minor years ago, and how he “had multiple other people your age” in the past which he had never been caught for.
So obviously by the time I was aware of that I was Deadset at not only catching and exposing this creep but see to it that he gets his rightful spot back in a prison cell.

Make no mistake I took screenshots of EVERY message/text/conversations/photos. 

( I had taken photos of myself and used an age altering app which was procured freely from Apple. ) Upon his request I sent multiple Altered selfies over those five days in the various poses he was asking for. Obviously this was done to prove that the decoy was in fact “real”. Bam. That’s it. It was Friday and this registered sex offender “PDF File” was in FULL BELIEF and confident that a Minor was on the way to his apartment to “teach him” how to have sex.
I went just outside the meeting area a bit early and sat down with my Sony 500 video camera around my neck and was prepared to begin the video, capturing him as he went directly to the prearranged location. He was going with the quickness and attempting to hold back the huge shit eating grin on his face. Disgusting. Vile. True evil.
So I walked up to him while recording and made a call from my cellphone to his which I used to instantly tell him off the bat: “YOU’RE FKD!” Also by doing this at that moment I was putting him in a position (ON CAMERA mind you) which he had zero opportunity to deny anything.

Over the next 20-30 minutes He confessed to everything that was said during the conversations. Instead of me questioning him, initially I had told him to tell me exactly why he was there, and for him to tell me (the camera) everything that was in those terrible and unbelievable messages. 

I grilled him like a ribeye.
After having gathered what I believed to be enough evidence and having him vocally express ( One more and last time) directly to the camera why he was there at that precise moment and what it was he had expected to go down that day in his apartment, I decided to end recording, and leave.
With my adrenaline pumping, I left. Forgetting to do what could’ve been the most important thing, not for exposing him or the Court, but for ME. . . Call the cops. I called them about 10 minutes into the walk back to my home. I told the Officer everything that had just happened. Including the prior five days leading up to this event. I was praised for doing what I had done by this Officer but was informed that the “Detective” responsible for this “crime category” was already off duty and wouldn’t be returning until Monday.
On Monday I received a phone call from that Officer and TRIED to explain everything. It was like I was speaking another language to him. He REPEATEDLY tried to change what I was telling him. For example; I explained how I was the decoy and that there did NOT EXIST AN ACTUAL MINOR involved here, and then he would say: “so you and this sex offender ‘hooked up’ and tried to get a ‘13’ year old over to HIS house” !!!!! It was if he was Trolling. He simply could not, or did not WANT TO understand what happened. “It’s like a STING OPERATION” I finally said to him. I told him this guys name and where he lived. I even knew his birthdate from the convos with the Decoy. So this “detective” in charge of investigating a very serious category of crime in this city KNEW that this predator is a Registered Sex Offender. He KNEW that I was in possession of a litany of irrefutable evidence. Yet was totally incompetent and put me down as Suspect #1 from the start. For not a single reason. He denied my requests to come down and SHOW HIM THE FRICKIN’ EVIDENCE. He did not even want to see the video confession!!! Nothing happened. He said it was now an “open case” and I had a case number. Deflated. Flabbergasted. I was [again] in shock. After weeks of waiting, I ended up putting the entire video of sicko confessing and me grilling him on YouTube. My genuine motive from the start was to make a positive impact on the community. To potentially stop a child from being victimized by a predator. I felt let down the police response. Little did I know what was to come SIX months later. The cops raided the house I was living in.
I was immediately handcuffed and told that I was arrested for “LURING A MINOR” !!!! I was literally paralyzed. With at LEAST HALF A DOZEN POLICE OFFICERS AND AN EQUALLY UNNECESSARILY LARGE AMOUNT OF SUVS PARKED ON THE DRIVEWAY, LAWN, AND ONE OF THE BUSIEST ROADS IN THE CITY. RED AND BLUES FLASHING ON ALL OF THEM. W h a t . T h e . F o c k ! ? ! They went up to my neatly organized room and searched it over discovering of course nothing but my phone. Snatching it with a joy like they had just successfully done something significant. I had 5-7 cops surrounding me in a semi circle after arriving at the Jail as I prepared to go inside a cell. They even shackled my feet. I know from watching cops and the like on YouTube to always exercise the right to remain silent. There was nothing I could do or say at that point which would help and I definitely didn’t resist the arrest so it really must’ve been a slow day. Eh guys? That and/or the overly incompetent rookie had relayed to his colleagues and obviously his Superiors to get the raid and arrest warrant his own personal story that he had recreated. Unfriggenbelieveable! It’s SO ABSURD THERE IS NO PROPER WORDS TO EXPRESS HOW IT FEELS TO GO THROUGH THIS! Doing something I considered not just “Right”, but Honourable, Justified, and definitely NOT illegal! How the hell did a JUDGE sign an arrest AND RAID Warrant on me with ZERO evidence, physical, concrete, or even circumstantial?? Not a single reason lawfully or otherwise for them to raid, arrest, shackle my feet and throw me in a jail cell for hours, and then criminally charge me with “Luring of a Minor”. Evidently, according to this news article the police had conducted a Six Month Investigation. Huh? Of What?! On Who?!
Now, Finally, The News Article: The information printed in any news article requires a source, so all of this information had to have only been provided by the police department. This article was printed at 9 in the morning the very next day of the arrest and raid. So of course this was all information provided from police.

This is what the dumbass, rookie, ignorant cop fabricated for no actual real reason: 

“Two men were arrested yesterday after a Six Month long Investigation revealed that the men had ‘BOTH’ believed that they were speaking with a ‘13’ year old boy online. Registered sex offender (the real predators name) and another known sex offender ( my name) are each charged with Luring of a Minor. (Real predators name again) is also charged with using an electronic device to lure a Minor, and breach of probation.”

My LandLord happened to be home at the time of the Raid, and he had also (I guess being suspicious after the raid,) read the article online which is quoted directly above. 

Which meant that he would be evicting me from the property, and I can’t blame him. With that article being read by my roommates and hisself I can’t really blame him for that either.
The charges against myself were eventually dropped, of course. About 18 months later! My phone being confiscated in the raid in order to access everything on there was also given back to me. They played immature and unprofessional games with that as well; returning my property. Such as : come in this day, your phone is ready to be released now. Show up. “Oh so and so thought it was ready but we don’t have it yet.” Weeks later. Get another call saying it is in fact ready now. Show up. “There is no one working in the evidence locker today, there will be in two days.” Screw them! I show up ten days late and what do you know? My property is actually there for me, and I finally get it back. Of course having had to purchase new phone in the meantime. Worse yet, I can’t recall the password and it was before facial recognition (not like that would matter) and after the fingerprint touch button. So it’s just a brick now.
That’s the least of my concern, as that bullshit article remains up, and the YouTube video had been taken down for some privacy violation nonsense.
After paying the criminal defence attorneys’ invoice(s), I couldn’t afford the 6K being asked by EVERY attorney I had reached out to.
So there, that’s one of many of my Unbelievably Insane Life’s stories. I suppose I didn’t provide the short version. Even though I have sincerely tried to keep it all to a minimum by leaving out plenty of details and significant events, this ended up being the Mid Length version.

Hi everyone, To explain, I have been with my girlfriend for 2 years now. I love my girlfriend, this is our first adult relationship together, so a lot of these things were new to us during it. I don’t want to sound cocky but i’d like to think i’m a pretty handsome guy, and my girlfriend hates the fact that i’m attractive to other girls. She constantly compares herself to my exes and girls i’ve talked to in the past. Shes always been extremely jealous, she does not like me talking to other girls and or working with girls, constantly says i’m a flirt or that i have other gfs etc. Has told me that i’m probably hiding stuff from her or that I would cheat, Then she says it’s a joke which I know it’s not. She does not like me having any female friends either (which I don’t have any) and gets very upset if I do happen to talk to a female. She will full on ignore me and give me attitude and just be plain out disrespectful towards me as if I cheated on her. She also gets distant and bothered If I hang out with my guys for the night, even tho I never hit the bar or drink with them. One instance is I pulled up a famous singers page to play music, “you find her attractive don’t you?” I don’t answer this question because I know what it’s going to turn into and sure enough she starts probing and asking and asking and finally I just admitted. I had never seen her so upset, again she made it seem like I cheated on her she was furious. I kept trying to reassure her but she would push my arm away and say “ don’t touch me”. She ignored me for the whole night. I try to be as respectful as I can to her and respect our boundaries, but I feel like even that’s not enough After that I snapped and we got into an argument, where I told her she was insecure and had major trust issues. She said that was the meanest thing I could say to her. I really started to wonder what i’m doing wrong, and then I started to ask if it is even my fault ? Is this really what I want for myself? Now I’m here wondering if this behavior is normal in a relationship. I’ve never had a long term relationship up until this one so I wouldn’t know and I would really appreciate everyone’s input, I always try to make sure she is happy and i feel like i’m putting myself last because of it.
Am I overreacting or do I have a right to feel this way?
TLDR: Girlfriend constantly doubts me, thinks i’m cheating, gets extremely upset if i talk to another female and is disgusted that I think other women are attractive. AIO for telling her she’s insecure ?

This is a petty revenge that I had a part in, with a touch of malicious compliance.
So, this occurred in late 2019 and at the time I (29f at the time) was living with my best friend and her roommate/landlord S who owned the house that they were living in.
I was asked if I wanted to move in, by my best friend with S’ permission in mid-2017, as S had poor judgement when it came to letting people live with them (whole other stories from my bestie about the other people that were living there before me), and everything seemed fine as we were paying our rent on time, keeping things in the main areas tidy, and had no major fights between us.
Until it suddenly went to hell, I had no inkling that anything was wrong.
One day in October while we were all at work S suddenly without any warning sent me and my best friend a text saying that we needed to move out by the end of the year without any discussion beforehand about feeling dissatisfied or wanting us to leave. This completely blindsided me and sent me into a panic attack at work and pissed my best friend off with how S handled it.
A verbal fight ensued between my best friend and S that night, but the situation didn't change so we hit the ground running in looking for a new place to live (as I and my friend had a holiday overseas booked less than a month from when we got the text message) and less than 2 weeks later we have a lease signed and a move in date set for a new place.
The petty revenge part was that the day we would be moving out happened to coincide with S needing to leave the state for a business trip for over a week so she wouldn’t be there when we left.
What this did to wreak S’ plans:
A. She had to go and find a pet sitter for her pets as there was no way that we would be doing it once we left (we went NC with S after this), since my best friend and I were normally the ones who looked after her pets when she wasn’t there as we were living with them.
We were NOT going to be doing S any favours after the stunt she pulled and the fights that she picked with us after that message was sent.
B. She couldn’t ‘supervise’ our moving and thus ensure that we wouldn’t "steal her stuff."
I had finally had enough of S’ bullshit at that point and shouted at her that "we didn’t want her stuff AND that she wasn’t worth getting arrested for" when she fought with us about that.
C. She lost out on rent for at least a fortnight as we paid to the day that we left, and she had to find other roommates to fill out the rooms which could only happen after she got back from her business trip.
D. As we knew that S wasn’t going to give our security deposit back (that was her petty revenge against us for moving out so fast) we didn’t clean up after ourselves when we vacated the bedrooms as we figured that she could take the time to clean them when she got back.
S was fuming at the fact that we took control of the situation so quickly and ruined her enjoyment of watching us squirm to find a new place close to Christmas.
She couldn’t do anything about it and had to leave knowing that we would be long gone by the time she got back (we didn’t tell her anything about where we were moving to so that she couldn’t track us down and harass us).
But at least we weren’t living with her during COVID lockdowns which occurred less than 6 months later; as S is an extrovert and would have been bouncing off the walls during the lockdowns.
The reason why I remembered this petty revenge; was the fact that last month my best friend told me that she had passed S’ place on her way to work, and it seems like S has bought another place since she used to complain about how far away she was from her job, so she has a real estate managing the property with new tenants.
(My best friend did some snooping to confirm that the house hadn't been sold between 2019 when we left and 2024)
The tenants: a family with kids are letting the front lawn get overgrown and cluttered with junk. (who knows what the inside looks like) S is house proud, and she used to ensure that everything in the front yard was mowed, neat and tidy while we lived together. Plus, she did not like kids so salt in the wound there.
If she knew how her house looked now, she would throw the biggest hissy fit ever. (I tried to convince my best friend to take pics to send to S on Facebook, but haven’t succeeded yet, but if I do it will be another entry on this)
But this is what I would say to S if I felt like looking her up and telling her about her house's condition:
"So, we weren’t the worst tenants after all S, if you had kept us there, we would have ensured that the house was looked after how you wanted it to be when you moved out of that house."

We had to return our spectrum wave router two years ago because it wasn't compatible with our bluetooth garage opener system. Does anyone know if they have upgraded the routers since then and if they are compatible now? We bought a TP LINK router and apparently it's causing issues with intermittent service. Our internet goes off and on regularly all night and Spectrum says it's not from their end. I'm wondering if getting one of their routers now would work out for my MYQ system or if it's pretty much just going to cause the same problem and not connect at all? I really don't know what to do. Should I just buy a new router outright? Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive but strong router that works well with spectrum? I miss the days when they had the all in one routemodem. It was so much less stressful!

Here are two of mine:

1. I think the tagging "label" system they currently have for organizing games is way better than folders used in 3DS and Wii U. For the same reason Google went with the label system in Gmail when they developed it (and it was considered very innovative at the time). Games can be tagged multiple times or not at all, but with folders they can only be grouped once. It also lets you sort them other ways (ABC, playtime, last played, etc.) while not having any weird UI confusion. I still find sorting and viewing my whole collection useful, such as when I have a guest over and want them to pick a game out of my entire library or just to show them what games I have. I only wish you could jump to your tags right from the main menu, but I think they did this to prevent you from skipping over and forgetting about games you've not tagged. Although they could have had a link to "all software" or "untagged titles" in the label menu too. But right now it's still pretty easy to get to with just three inputs. It IS a bit awkward having to press left to get to all software I will admit. That could have had a simple button shortcut too. I was actually always struggling with my large collection of 3DS games because I would forget what folder I put a title in, accidentally moved it in the wrong folder, and hated that you couldn't sort your games within or outside of the folders. It was completely a manual process no matter which way you went about it, just like if you had a shelf of physical titles. No way to view your library in ABC order, etc. and no library search function either. Something which I think the Switch should have too by the way. Overall, with my frustrations with the completely manual 3DS organization system, I was happy with how they went about it on Switch but still see other people criticize it all of the time. So I think my opinion isn't popular.
   
2. I like having the old games on the streaming service and even think there's benefits to gamers from them releasing them piecemeal. I'd probably never pay for a lot of these games again because it's so easy to emulate on many different platforms (phone, pc, modded consoles), but IT IS nice to have a library of old games available on the switch, and costs me 8 dollars a year with family plan (the full expansion price is too much and I'd never pay it). It even has led me to discovering "new to me" games I would have never played or bought from Nintendo's past. I think releasing them in chunks can be a fun community thing too because after they dump a batch on us, I notice lots of people online and in my personal life are playing them again as Nintendo has shone the spotlight on them, so to speak, which makes them the center of discussions; and I love classic game discussions! It was a good way to build hype and awareness for the Metroid franchise when they released the GBA titles on Switch and were pushing the new Dread and Prime Remastered games around the sams time, bringing more awareness of these games so that when Prime 4 gets here people will be very familiar with a series that isn't as popular as Mario or Zelda. It's nice having a big library of old games ready to go when you want to switch it up and play something different but don't want to drop more money and download a new game you don't know if you'll like or not. The streaming makes it low stakes. The only thing that makes the NSO classic games service fall short for me is that we won't see a lot of great games on there due to IP publishing reasons, so lots of classic games strongly tied with old systems' identities are going to be left out as their IP owner chooses to keep them off the service and opt for a eshop release or remake instead.
   

One thing I also particularly enjoy on NSO is the multiplayer option to play single player games with a group of friends online and virtually passing the controller between players. It's almost as good as being in the same room like when we were kids. My old friend and I nearly beat Mario 64 together online while we were talking on the phoned living on different coasts, and then decided to play some mario tennis 64; for which we have a rivalry. He was feeling very lonely because his wife had died recently and the online multiplayer feature really brightened up both of our days that afternoon as we (sometimes struggling to!) remembered how to get 120 stars.

I have to get this off my chest I apologize and it’s not a flame post or a bickering post about the skins etc. I love Smite and I’ve played Smite 2 which has some real promise and I’m excited for its full release.
With that being said, I think releasing Smite 2 will split the already moderate fanbase. There will be the Smite 2 players and then there will be the Smite 1 players that’ll already have all their toys ready to use. Nothing to unlock. They’ll be content with what they have.
Smite 1 already plays fine. Sure it’s dated and could use a lot of improvements and a sequel would be warranted but the current implementation is just too insignificant to warrant such a change. I’m fine with Smite 1 for another 5 years. The Smite 2 alpha didn’t lead me to think it’s the Smite 1 replacement we all hoped it will be. It plays very similar. It even looks similar but with the UE5 blur effects. Don’t get me wrong the Ymir Blobmir skin looked really awesome but it’s really just an upgrade current Ymir.
Hi-Rez is making a HUGE mistake and they’re going about it all wrong. I’m a 10+ year player. They should make a drastic change to the stylization.
I suggest they think long and hard about their level design. LoL, Dota 2 etc levels looks gorgeous. Smite? So bland and uninspired. They should add levels. Think cellars or upper floors instead of jungles. Make the scenery a big part of the character. A major revamp needs to happen. Mount Olympus? Heavens? Hells? Cursed and haunted lands? I don’t know, something imaginative. They already have the god work figured out, now focus on the scenery and map layouts.
Lastly, and this is probably my sole opinion. I think the Airbender or the cartoon looking characters look FAR better than anything else in the game. It’s truly a spectacle. I would’ve got a consensus of my design team reconsider making the entire game in that vain. Those transformers skins?? Wow! But it’s wasted and being discarded. It’s a a shame. Really is.
Anyway. Hi-Rez you guys made a wonderful game and it has lasted for such a long time. Don’t split your fan base for what looks more like a one generation increase as opposed to two generation boost. I’m nkt knocking the artistry, the models look great, but they’re retreads and retreads really don’t sell well with me. It’s like buying a brand new 2024 mustang when you already have a fairly new 2023 mustang. You’re getting minor improvements but at such a higher cost.
I want to see Smite 2 be amazing. I’m looking forward to all the changes and implementations of the Smite 2 features.

Dear all, yesterday I watched Fargo (the movie) for the first time. Loved the movie, but I’m not somebody who binge watches series by the dozen. I watched Twin Peaks (all seasons) three times or so, am finishing the Sopranos before summer I guess (took me years) and the same goes for Breaking Bad. So I’d like to pick my new series wisely and probably need years to complete a handful of seasons 😊. So my honest question: what makes Fargo special for you?

I’m a new student enrolling as a Freshman for the 2024-2025 school year, found my roommate and added him on the contract and all that. Went to pay the deposit and realized it’s 10 pm my time, 12 Illinois time. Will I still meet the May 15th priority housing deadline or did I screw up? Please help!! I have a 2022 3.3T Sport Prestige. The clearcoat on my wheels is starting to come off (as they seem to do). I am the second owner, so I wasn't sure they would be covered. After having read a few reddit post about warranty issues I was worried I was out of luck, so I dug through the warranty info in the manual and online. (See pics)
Warranty clearly states Paint coverage (New Vehicle items on the summary chart) is transferable and is covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.
The first person I talked to was in the service department and met me as I came in the door. I told her, my clearcoat was separating, and she asked if I was the first owner. When I said no, she said, "We usually don't cover the small stuff like that, for second owners, but you could talk to the sales guys to find out for sure."
I went to the sales guys and they said, they had no idea and that I should talk with the service manager. He was gone, so I called him the next day (after I found the warranty info). I explained the situation and he said, "Yeah, you still get that coverage. Bring it in, we'll take pictures and send them to Genesis to evaluate."
The day I got in, I was greeted by another service rep and explained to her the situation (which was on her notes from the appointment paperwork). Then she said, "Are you the first owner?", of course I said "No" and she said, "This is only covered for first owners". I responded, that I had already talked with the service manager and it IS covered for any owners for 3 years. She quickly followed with, "Well, we'll take pictures and send them in for Genesis to approve, and we'll let you know". I also mentioned, that I'd like the trim looked at, as it was looking hazy on the rear passenger side (oddly different from the other pieces).
When I got the call to pickup the car, the assistant service manager told me that Genesis was sending them 2 new front wheels (regardless of my curb rash - see pics). Also, said they would have to try and polish the trim, when I brought it back for the wheels. If the polishing doesn't work, they would order the trim and replace it. All at no cost to me.
So I got everything I wanted (or will get what I wanted). Just need to know who to talk to.
Also getting the engine fire recall work done in a few weeks, when they get those parts in. I asked if they had the tool to do that work without pulling the engine and they said they did. She (the assistant manager) also said she would schedule it when the better of their 2 Genesis techs was working.
I hope that helps you guys get what you deserve for your Genesis. Don't let the front desk make new rules. :)
Note: I live in Washington State. The manager did ask if it was purchased out of state and he looked it up and was able to tell where it had originally and recently been sold. Apparently in states that use salt or other harsh chemicals, they don't cover the wheels or maybe they are more stingy with coverage? Good luck!
Note 2: The worst curb rash was caused by me, the day after I made my appointment to get the wheels looked at. So, Genesis approved the replacement even with the curb rash. ( I am so paranoid of door dings, I have gotten too close on the right side and bit the curb.) Apparently the 1st owner did the same thing and then covered it up with touch up paint, but Genesis didn't care about any of that. I will be much more careful with the new wheels.

I work in pensions and it astonishes me how many parents 60 years ago thought using their surname as their son's first name was a good idea.

I know odd spellings are all the range on social media for new parents and weird names have been a thing forever (the Victorian kids called Lettice and Toilet, for example), but it surprises me how often someone will just have the same name twice.

Backstory, my older sister 29 was married to the most AMAZING man, let call him Chase. At the end of 2022 start of 2023 Chase raised speculation that my sister was sleeping or seeing someone at the state prison she worked at. My sister, let’s call her Sarah, denied this. Chase and Sarah went through a rough time, but it seemed to get better, they ended up becoming pregnant with their second child due later in 2023, but ended up separating before child was born. Chase tried everything in his power to make it work, but my sister just didn’t love him anymore and never even showed my sadness over this separation. Chase has been an Outstanding dad to their 2 kids, and they are great at con parenting. He is always a part of the family as the father of my sisters children.
My sister has been talking about quitting her job, at the prison. Everyone was happy to hear this, as we felt that job just changed her and the hours were ridiculous, and on Sunday she said she probably wasn’t going back to work and wasn’t going to show up Monday. Well today, (Tuesday). She sends me a message and said this is my new boyfriend. I immediately asked for details and she said she would call me and send me a few pictures, great, I’ll support it. Then she tells me that she met him though work, they worked together but he just never got to go home. I started calling, she finally answered and confirmed that she was dating an inmate. Then said he was released on Monday. (No wonder she quit her job). I was a little in shock, but she said he served his 10 year sentence for aggravated home and theft robbery, I also found out he has multiple warrants out, and she told me he used to be a gang member.
My concern is for her two kids one under 6 and one under 1. Maybe this man is changed, but I don’t think 1 day out of prison can show that. Apparently this has been going on for for a while considering he “paid” for her maternity leave, her ex husband chase noticed she was getting thousands sent to her on cashapp, and she put this large down payment on a car, my dad did the financing and was really curious to where that came from, because she always talks about not having money and has my mother paying for things.
She proceeds to tell me how great his family his, that they are super big Christians, and he is a new man, etc. obviously he was affiliated with something if he could send thousands of dollars while in prison. I told her that I hope she waits before he is around the kids, but I have a feeling she will not. And I didn’t think it was smart to date someone who has not been a part of the real world in 10 years. He is going to face his own obstacles and temptation of going back to a lifestyle he was once in. I told her I didn’t want to meet him, and I may reconsider after I have more information on how he is living a better life. But I just don’t support this choice. She seemed upset, asked me not to tell our dad. I immediately called my dad to tell him. ONLY because he needs some time to process this, or he will loose his shit on her. So I know she will be mad when she finds out. I think she likes the money and “attention” she is getting from this man, and is ignorant to what danger she is potentially putting her kids in if he is still affiliated with any gangs. The only things she could say to back how he changed was about how great his family is, to which I told her that his family can be great, but he is only responsible for his actions and his own reputation, and I do not have to trust him or be around him. My parents are divorced, so when I called my mom who knew, she fears that if she doesn’t try to support this then my Sarah will not allow her to see he me grandchildren, and will not keep her in the loop. I told my mom that I will not be around this, as I do not think she is thinking of the children or has put much logical thought into any of it. She is VERY easily influenced, and I fear what she will get involved in. If she wants to keep the kids from me, I will see them through their father Chase.
My sister texted me and asked not to judge him for his past. To which I replied that I am not judging him for his 1 day of freedom either. I said something to her about the money, and asked is she put into any thought on how this could reflect in a custody battle considering he was sending her money at the prison she worked for, while an employee for the state prison, and her ex has proof. Told her that I love her, but I don’t think this was smart to jump into and I will not support it. AITA? Or any advice to be given here?

I have been using Nothing Phone (1) for more than a year now. Barring a few glitch, I am pretty happy with the product. Even brought out the Ear (2) and the Nothing Watch to complete the ecosystem.
Question is, if I plan to upgrade, does the Nothing Phone (2) make sense now. I have had bad experience with the processor they use, so that is a con for me. But do the pro outweigh it?
Or do I simply continue using it and then swap it for a Pixel or the new Nothing Phone (x) when it comes?
