Showdown at noon?
Hey, has anyone else noticed this?
In the Signs meme with the crop circles, the 'signs' are the red GME logos. They're pointing in different directions.
In the Aladdin meme, 'the time' is spelled out with a font using clock hands. I thought this might be a hint to read the 'signs' like the hands of a clock.
https://preview.redd.it/4eu6fynf7a3d1.png?width=455&format=png&auto=webp&s=baaf387c0e46ed2b800c562089cf1a11315d0b49
If we look at the signs (crop circle GMEs) with this in mind, the clocks read 9, 4, a big long 4, and then 12. The first two 'clocks' seem to represent the market hours, open to close. Then we have the big guy pointing at 12. The 'big long 4' is the same one waved around to scare away the bears in the Crocodile Dundee meme, and it seems to be pointing at 12.
https://preview.redd.it/41m660e96a3d1.png?width=573&format=png&auto=webp&s=816160cdcc28fef39c7c2dba3ee275ee0f2790a2
In Run Lola Run, clocks (and specifically 12pm) are central to the plot. Lola has to get the money by 12pm. There's a specific clock in the movie you can't help but notice after watching the RK memes repeatedly while looking for 'signs'.

I really don't know if any of this means anything, other than that I need to get off the internet, but I feel like there's a message about 12pm.

2024.05.29 00:57 Shadowfax_096 The Vitae Compendium

The Vitae Compendium

Wondrous Item (Tome), Very Rare (Requires Attunement)
The Vitae Compendium, an ancient and ominous tome, is bound in dark leather, its pages stained with the lifeblood of those who have delved into its secrets. This book is a repository of Sangromancy, an esoteric and seldom-practiced school of magic that manipulates the very essence of life force. To possess and study from The Vitae Compendium is to tread a path marked by both unparalleled power and significant sacrifice.
Appearance: The cover of The Vitae Compendium is adorned with intricate, blood-red runes that seem to pulse faintly in rhythm with the reader’s heartbeat. Its pages, made from an unknown, resilient parchment, are filled with archaic symbols and detailed illustrations depicting the flow of blood and energy through various creatures. A palpable aura of power and foreboding surrounds the book, making it clear that this is no ordinary grimoire.
Attunement: To attune to The Vitae Compendium, a potential user must spend a long rest in focused study of its contents. During this time, the book's magic bonds with the reader, granting them access to its potent yet dangerous knowledge. This process is not without risk; the reader must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 15) at the end of the long rest. On a failure, they suffer one level of exhaustion due to the taxing nature of the initial bonding process.
Sangromancy Initiate: Once attuned, the wielder of The Vitae Compendium gains the Sangromancy Initiate feat, which allows them to cast spells from the unique school of Sangromancy. This dark art demands both knowledge and sacrifice, requiring the user to expend their own vitality to fuel their magic. The Compendium grants access to a unique pool of Spell Points, which are used in place of traditional spell slots to cast Sangromancy spells.
Spellcasting:
Blood Bond: The Compendium grants a small pool of d12 dice, known as Blood Bond dice, which the user can use to cast Sangromancy spells without sacrificing their own hit dice. This pool replenishes after a long rest and may increase with a deeper bond to the Compendium.
Danger and Power: The Vitae Compendium offers great power but demands significant sacrifices. It is a tool for those willing to walk the fine line between life and death, wielding the very essence of blood to achieve their ends. Other magic users may view the Sangromancer with suspicion or outright hostility, but none can deny the formidable potency of their art.
Cursed Nature: While not inherently evil, the Compendium's power comes with inherent risks. Extended use of its abilities can lead to physical and mental exhaustion, and failure to control its power can result in severe backlash, including necrotic damage, levels of exhaustion, and unpredictable arcane repercussions.
The Vitae Compendium is not merely a book but a pact, a commitment to mastering one of the most dangerous and powerful schools of magic known to the world. To hold it is to embrace both its gifts and its costs, a balance only the truly daring or desperate are willing to accept.

56-60 The caster’s blood turns to ice. The caster takes 2d10 cold damage and has disadvantage on all Dexterity checks and saving throws for 1d4 minutes.
61-65 Blood boils and evaporates around the caster, creating a cloud of steam. All creatures within a 10-foot radius must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 fire damage and be blinded for 1 minute.
66-70 The caster’s veins glow with a crimson light, causing all creatures within 30 feet to be frightened of the caster for 1 minute.
71-75 The caster’s blood forms protective runes on their skin. They gain a +2 bonus to AC for 1 minute, but take 1d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of their turns for the duration.
76-80 The caster’s blood summons a blood elemental. The elemental appears within 5 feet of the caster and acts independently, attacking the nearest creature each round. It remains for 1 minute or until destroyed.
81-85 The caster’s blood crystallizes, creating a protective barrier. The caster gains 3d10 temporary hit points, but their movement speed is reduced to 0 for 1 minute.
86-90 The caster’s blood becomes toxic. Any creature that deals melee damage to the caster must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1d4 rounds.

2024.05.29 00:25 DemiAboveTheGods Bungie explain arc hunter for me?

So, why is gifted conviction a thing. Like arc hunter already jolts. There are now more useful exotics for stasis specifically then arc specifically. (Assassin's cowl does liars handshake in a different font and it can be used on all classes) . So why was this exotic made. Like I thought it would be cool but it just does more of what hunters can do. Tempest strike is already the worst melee aspect compared to consecration on titan and surge on warlock. Acension seems cool but it needs to do something more. So you give us this new exotic that isn't really contributing. Please convince us that you can give hunters good exotics without making them niche, underpowered or give us the smallest thing.
I understand that titans and warlocks have been shafted but it has become a trend to give terrible exotics on expansion release. Please make something worth using for more that a day or for collection.
A lot of people said it's any jolt and not a single creator said that, yet it does go to x4 and it IS any jolt. And they said NO refreshing capacity. font know if that's the case.
Even so it feels like a let down when the two things it's supposed to buff are the worst things to run with it.

How do I manipulate font letters as path?
Hello, I'm coming here with a newbie question. I want to recreate the same thing from scratch, as is with the letter "g" here -> making the leg longer, twisted and with the dot at the end - same as the letter "i". I tried multiple things, but nothing was even close to the result here I want to achieve.
Is there anything I can add something like "bone structure" to the letter "i" (or any letter basically) and manipulate it? I'm used to the Fusion 360 CAD functionality so excuse me, probably, my dumb question, obviously AI is different software for different purpose.
BTW the font used here is Urbanist.
Thank you! :-)

2024.05.28 23:25 Seekkae Is there a way to print out text in a "handwritten font" on Linux?

I don't mean one of the many "handwritten fonts" you find on free fonts websites where they look handwritten but the letters look exactly the same each time.
I also don't mean making my own handwriting into a font as that's too time-consuming for my purposes. It doesn't have to look like my own writing.
What I'm referring to is a font system and/or software where there are some slight variations for each handwritten letter so that each time that letter appears in text it will randomly choose from one of the variations.
Example: I print out the word "example" and both "e"s look slightly different, the way real handwriting would.
Is there a way to do this on Linux that isn't too time-consuming? Thanks in advance.

2024.05.28 23:13 PepitoPepito123 Notion as a full Company Intranet (?)

Hi all - first time starting a thread in here and first just want to thank you all for all the great information this sub has provided as I've been getting into Notion over the last year or so.
My question is whether anyone here has used Notion as a full enterprise intranet solution. My company (~100 people) is migrating off of an ancient Sharepoint 2010 server, and we're considering Notion as the replacement (and comparing to some other more traditional intranet platforms). I know it isn't the main intended use of the tool, but I feel like I could get at least 80% of the way to satisfying our intranet needs with Notion. A bit of my assessment so far:
The good:
The medium:
The bad:
Anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone who is using Notion as their company intranet, or anyone who has considered it. If you use it, how's it working out for you? If you considered it and decided against it, what were the dealbreakers? Also, am I wrong in any of my assessments/assumptions above?
Thanks!

2024.05.28 23:11 Truman-Burbankrupt How I recovered from my eye strain :)

Hello! As I have fully recovered from my severe eye strain a month ago, I would like to share my experience and solutions to you in the hopes of helping you out, too.
It was not my first time, as I had already experienced one a few years prior. However, that first one only lasted for a few days and went away after I got prescription glasses with filters, meanwhile this recent one lasted for more than a month even after updating my glasses.
I got anxious most of the time and it really did cause me to spiral and feel hopeless. I thought and felt like the eye strain was never going away. It didn't help that a lot of things I have to do to make progress in life require much screen time, and I heavily rely on it for communication and entertainment as well.
Since no one among my friends and family have experienced a case as bad as mine, I tried my best to look for solutions by myself online including in this subreddit, and was able to put some tips into practice.
These are the things and activities that helped me recover, which hopefully could also provide you relief and aid:
• Following the 20-20-20 rule. Every after 20 minutes of screen time, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps your eyes refocus and rest. You can install an app that reminds you of the intervals through alarms.
• Resting whenever you feel like you need it and try doing it for longer periods of time. Depending on the severity of your discomfort, you might feel like 20-20-20 is not enough most especially during the first few weeks of your eye strain. You can adjust accordingly.
• Limiting your screen time. This may be difficult especially if we are attached to our devices and/or use it for school and/or work, but this is such a huge help if you have the chance to do it. And only as you recover you can then gradually increase your screen time day by day until It's back to normal.
• Using a blue light filter across your devices. This will help you with your light sensitivity as you use the device. Some phones have built-in "eye care" options that would apply a yellowish filter to your screen. If you don't have this, you can find blue light filter apps you can install. As for laptops, I found that f.lux has helped me. You can customize the intensity of this filter throughout the different times of the day.
• Being mindful of surrounding lighting while using your devices. I discovered that in my case, my eyes are more comfortable with setting the device to light mode during the day and when there is harsh lighting around me, and switching it to dark mode once all the lights are off during the night. Also, be cautious of glare on your screen and avoid positioning it under or against direct light as much as possible, as it will cause your eyes to exert extra effort to see what's on the screen.
• Applying the ideal font size. My eyes can still discern texts clearly, and so I am used to the smaller font sizes in my phone. However, when I had my eye strain, I realized that my eyes were exerting more effort into reading the words against the brightness of the screen. Try increasing your devices' font size.
• Considering the need for prescription glasses. Sometimes, changes in your eyesight may contribute to or even directly cause your eye strain. It can be too minimal for us to notice, especially if you can still see clearly even without glasses. But even if your eyesight is clear like mine, it's also good to get glasses with protective filters. On the other hand, if you are already wearing glasses, chances are you need to update it too as your grade might have increased or the degree of astigmatism has changed, for example.
• Applying cold and/or hot compresses. Depending on your case, either or both of these can help you. Cold compress relieves itching and inflammation in the eyes, reduces redness, and temporarily numbs the painful areas. Warm compress provides moisture and heat for dry eyes, helps them produce tears, unclogs the glands, and reduces pain and swelling.
• Trying your best to reduce your stress levels. This may be a big challenge as eye strain is also bringing you stress, but know that you will eventually find relief! If you begin to feel paranoid and find yourself looking up symptoms and illnesses online, redirect yourself to look up solutions and cures instead.
• Doing exercises. Tension tends to build up in our neck and shoulders, and so doing some stretching could provide relief. Sometimes, our posture also contributes to the strain that we experience. Eye exercises are also recommended, for example. Plus, exercising in general does wonders to our well-being.
• Opting for complete darkness when sleeping. This provides better quality of rest for the eyes. If lights can't be avoided, using an eye mask or sleep mask may help you.
• Getting enough hours of sleep as much as possible. This depends on your school and/or work situation, but if you have the chance to do this, it will provide you a better quality of rest as well both physically and mentally.
I hope you'd be able to give these solutions a try, and that they would also work for you like how they did for me <3 Please don't hesitate to ask questions, too. I am sending you all my empathy and support. You'll get through this!

2024.05.28 21:06 WabbajackedWacko Adventures with an Interdimensional Psychopath 41

***Lily***
We all just stare at it for a while, waiting to see what it does. The first person to make a move is Wabbajack, inching his way closer towards it. As he gets close, he pokes it. As he does, I could swear it makes a squeaking sound.
He gasps as he picks it up. At that moment, I notice that the tail stays close to the ball of fluff, kinda flying around it. Maybe it has a set distance? He then proceeds to squeeze it a couple more times as it squeaks. “This is amazing!” He yells, squeezing it some more.
Eventually, it spins around to face him. It opens its mouth and out comes a tongue flying out like a frog and connects to Wabbajacks face. The rest of the body then comes flying towards his head as it bites his head, knocking over Wabbajacks hat.
I hear a muffled, “Aww. I was having fun. Oh well, got to admit though, it’s feisty.”
“It seems to be a Umoya Vulpes Uhane.” I hear to my right. I turn to see Mogsten looking into a book. “Fascinating! This seems to be the only other time that there has Ever been a recorded sighting of one. There is almost next to no information on its capabilities here.” He adds. He then slams the book shut as he exclaims, “I’ll pay whatever you want for him!”
I then hear more muffled noises say, “Wow! This guy must be really rare for Mogsten to offer anything. Still, first, Lily, how do you feel?”
I look back at the ball of leathery fur that has Wabbajack’s head in its mouth. I feel… something. I put my finger to my chin as I say, “I don’t quite know what I feel right now honestly.”
Wabbajack continues to try and speak as he says muffled again, “Well, familiars are rare, and the experience is different from person to person. Just don’t try to rush it and things should make sense I imagine. What do you want to name this fella?”
I don’t know honestly. But, first things first, “Could you get it off your head now? It’s hard to hear what your saying.” I say.
“Wait, Wabbajack has been talking?” Mogsten asks.
“Well, yeah. Haven’t you heard him?” I ask.
Mogsten looks at me funny and then back at the ball of fur. He then walks over to it and kicks Wabbajacks foot out from underneath him, knocking him down on his back. He then goes up to the fox ball and whispers into its ear. For some reason, as clear as day, I hear, “Can you hear me whispering Lily? Nod if you do.”
So, I nod.
“Fascinating!” He says. He then snaps his fingers as Gourdsten hands him a notepad and a pen. As soon as they are in his hands, he starts writing down some stuff. He stops to look at the fox ball and holds up the notepad to it. “Anything?” he asks.
“What?” I yell back.
He then shrugs and goes back to writing notes.
“Can I get back up now?” Wabbajack says, still muffled.
I rub my temple, wishing that the fox ball would just get off his head.
Just as I think that, it hops off and starts to walk towards me. Well, waddle may be a more accurate word. Or, whatever it is called for how gators walk. It then stops in front of me and tilts its head. Its tail then connects to the body and, as it does, the body stretches out, taking a noodle like shape. It then flies up and wraps its body around my neck! It yawns, and I think I hear it snore. Funny, like it is now, it’s kinda like a scarf. Although the breathing I feel from it adds to the soothing effect as well.
“Spectacular!” I hear Mogsten exclaim. I look towards him to see him fervently taking notes. I also happen to see Wabbajack had gotten back up, put his hat back on, and was walking over here as well.
“I’m amazed. It looks like this was a success.” Wabbajack says.
“Of course! Who do you think I am? Some amateur?” Mogsten says, not taking his eyes off my living scarf.
Regardless, the leather belly provides a good grip while the fur is Extremely soft. I could see myself falling asleep as well if I wasn’t busy trying to process everything right now.
“Welp, it all worked out. You got a familiar and Mogsten is one of the few who successfully summoned it.” Wabbajack points out.
Mogsten shoots up as he realizes it too as he says, “Yes. YES! I DID! People will come from everywhere to see my wares and request my talent!” He then starts dancing along with Gourdsten.
“Although, you’ll have to up security if people keep requesting familiars.” Wabbajack mentions.
The dance slowly comes to a stop as that fact sinks in and Mogsten says, “Blast.” He then snaps his fingers as he says, “I can provide a questionnaire and a test, that people will have to pay for as well! Oh hohohohoho!” He laughs as he starts dancing again.
Wabbajack just shrugs and turns back to me. He asks, “Well, introduced you to about most of the important places that are around here, all that is left would be the furniture then. Unless there is anything else you can think of?”
As I start petting my living scarf, I try to think really hard if there is anything else I need to know. We got equipment, some magic books for me to study, my mark of sentience, a familiar, had a fight or two with Wabbajack, and met his family. I shrug and say, “No, I actually think that was it.”
He wipes his forehead as he says, “Thank goodness. I can’t tell you how crazy today has been.”
I can’t help but let out a chuckle as I say, “You think it’s been crazy for you? It’s been one new concept after another for me.”
He looks at me, chuckles, and says, “Fair enough. I almost forgot that All this must be new to you.” I had just gotten changed back when he then walks to the flap leading to the front as he says, “Well then, shall we get some furnishing?”
I nod and quickly chase after him. As we exit the store, I decide to ask Wabbajack some more questions as we peruse the bazaar for any good furniture being sold. I ask him an important question, at least to me anyways, “Why do you do this job? With your talents and skills, you could do whatever. And don’t try to sell me on that Monster of Monsters thing. Don’t you get tired of it?”
He stops, sighs, and tilts his hat down as he explains, “Well, if you really intend on traveling with me, then I guess you’ll have to know sooner or later. Let me ask You a question first however. Do you think nothing good could come from death?”
I look down as I answer, “Well, I mean, there is always another way, right?”
He responds with, “True, but I have learned why being a hero is as disastrous as the destruction they prevent. If I had to guess, Silkie probably told you about That, right?”
I quickly try to look away but realize, I immediately sold myself out.
“I thought so.” He says. He then follows up with, “There was a reason for that. There was a warlike nation growing in power. The reason for that is that none of the other nations were taking it seriously, so they pillaged and plundered as much as they like. Now, what is the best way to convince a nation’s leader that an “insignificant” threat is an actual one without them laughing at you?”
I look up and try to consider.
Before I can however, he continues, “I played the part of the nation about to destroy everything, and…assassinated… that infant. When the king and queen discovered their child killed by, what reports believed was one of those “barbarians”, they then took the threat Very seriously. They beefed up security and their guard. When the nation was invaded, instead of being wiped out, they defended themselves and crushed the opposition. I admit, it haunts me most nights. The crying, the sadness, then the stifling quiet. I hated it. But, they didn’t have the time for me to convince them conventionally. That is why I do these things, so others don’t have to. If they were defeated, then the warlike nation would have just steamrolled over everyone else. Now, tell me, what happens when a culture developed entirely around killing others runs out of things to kill?”
I ask him this time, “Is this a rhetorical question or do you want me to answer it this time?”
He shrugs and says, “Only if you want to try.”
I sigh and start thinking about it. “If a culture based on war ran out of people to fight… then they would try to look to improving their lives, right?”
He pats my head as he says, “You’re a genuinely good person. If that was how it worked, I would hopefully be out of a job. No, unfortunately. Nine point nine times out of ten, they just start killing each other. Point zero five percent scenario that they manage to start invading other dimensions. And the last of it, would hopefully improve their lot.”
“That’s so sad.” I mention.
“Welp, that is why I am around, I imagine. I wish I could save everyone but then, it becomes a cycle of dependency. If they can’t manage to take care of themselves, then when the rock holding it all up disappears, then things just go back to being as bad as they were before. Sometimes it winds up being worse than before. So, while I am impressed of true-blue heroes, I don’t envy them. That’s why I take orders from my boss. He promised me that, if I listen to him, he could help me protect entire dimensions. And the best options are sometimes the darkest ones. And who better to wander the darkness than someone who just about everyone hates already?” he asks while pointing to himself.
While he says that cheerfully, I swear I could sense a sadness to it as well. As I think that, my familiar floats over to Wabbajack and starts licking his face.
“He-e-ey. Easy there. Didn’t think I was that tasty.” He says as he tries to wave it off.
“Wolfie! Stop it!” I say without thinking.
It looks back, tilts its head, and floats back to being around my neck.
“Wolfie?” Wabbajack asks.
“Yeah… I guess. I guess that is what I decided to name it.” I say as I pet its fur.
I hear him chuckle. I respond with, “What?”
“Nothing.” He answers. He then waves forward as he asks, “Well then, shall we continue?”
I smile and walk forward. I then see him catch up immediately. When he does, Wolfie then starts wagging her tail, I think.
“What’s he so excited about?” Wabbajack asks.
“She. And I’m not sure.” I respond. I have a suspicion but, there are still too many variables to answer before I can start providing answers.
Wabbajack puts both his hands up defensively as he says, “My bad.
Sorry.”
“It’s fine.” I tell him.
We finally reached the bazaar and start looking around. As I am looking around, Wabbajack smacks my back and says, “That guy looks promising.”
I look over in the direction that he points, and I see a turtle person wearing some very poofy-looking robes, puffing smoke from a long oboe-looking pipe. Behind him, is some sort of tube-like machine. Wabbajack walks over to him, so I follow shortly after him.
As soon as he goes up to him, Wabbajack asks, “Excuse me good sir, what would you be selling here?”
There is a pause, he then lets out some smoke, and finally says, “Nothing.”
“Nothing?” I ask.
Another pause and he responds with, “Yep.” He then let’s out some more smoke.
“But then, what is this stall here then?” I ask.
As there is Another pause, I realize that this must be their shtick. He then answers with, “Fabrication.”
“Fabrication? You actually got a permit for that?” Wabbajack asks.
One pause later, he answers, “Yep.”
I look to Wabbajack and ask, “What is Fabrication and, why is it such a big deal?”
“Fabrication is a SUPER advanced form of blacksmithy. As long as you have the materials, you can determine what gets crafted, how it gets crafted, and what it looks like. The only catch is that it depends on the materials. Don’t expect to get golden bricks from grass. That requires rewriting at the genetic level, which you would have to be a master alchemist for that. Even I don’t have the means for fabrication. Although, the alchemy stuff can be pretty fun once you get past all that boring stuff. Not to mention profitable.” Wabbajack explains.
“Wait. You can’t do Fabrication?!” I ask in astonishment.
“Well, I could if I had the materials and patience for it. The time it takes to be permitted to fabricate Anything takes an unrealistic amount of time. I made it about halfway through before even I lost my patience.” Wabbajack answers.
“Why did you stop halfway?” I ask.
“Staying in a classroom for half a millennium alone, being told the yes and no’s of fabrication tends to make a lot of people go mad.” He continues to explain.
Before I can express my disbelief, we hear a very slow laugh, followed by, “Wimp.” I look over to the turtle man in time for him to blow some more smoke.
“You got me their old timer.” I hear Wabbajack say.
“Wait, why does it take so long?” I ask.
“Fabrication is a very meticulous process. Possibly the most meticulous. Not to mention, as I am sure you can imagine, it would be Very profitable for whomever can pull it off. It’s one of the most closely watched professions in all of Spiritopia. Not to mention, if someone of dubious morality decided to fabricate items, chances are that a LOT of bad things would come of it. You have to really have to be discerning when you break into the business. But, if you manage to pull it off, you are held in VERY high regards. Almost untouchable.” Wabbajack explains.
I then hear another, “Yep.” And another puff of smoke.
I then look at the turtle man and ask, “Does that mean you could make us some furniture?”
There is a pause as he looks me up and down. After a while, he says, “Nope.”
I am shocked. I ask, “Why not?”
Pause, puff, and says, “Inexperienced.”
I tilt my head down as I say dejectedly, “Oh, I see.” Wolfie also lets out a sad “hmmm”
Wabbajack then asks himself, “What about me?”
He then looks him up and down as well. This time, he scratches his chin. After a while longer, he says, “Yep. But I’ll charge you more than usual.”
Before I can exclaim my disapproval, Wabbajack says, “Deal!”
As I look to him aggravated, I then hear the turtle man say, “What would you like?”
Wabbajack looks to me as he asks, “What would you like? I imagine some drawers with a vanity mirror, a better bed, some sort of entertainment, maybe even a closet?”
I exclaim, “Wait just one minute! Why would you willingly pay more than normal?”
“Like I said, it’s a profession held in high regard.” Wabbajack explains.
“That.” As the turtle man starts to say something as well. “That and your reputation as Mr. Happy. But, I do like to make my own judgements as well.” He continues as he then lets out another puff.
“There you go.” Wabbajack says, pointing towards the turtle man.
I sigh and say, “Still strikes me as unfair.”
The turtle man laughs again as he says, “Inexperienced.”
Wolfie lets out a growl.
“Easy now, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Let’s not get upset over the finer details.” Wabbajack responds with.
I let out another sigh as I say, “Alright, fine. All the things you mentioned sound good.” I then puff my face.
Wabbajack then lets out a laugh as he says, “Alright. Don’t worry, if you don’t like something about it, we could always come back and change it now that we know someone who can fabricate stuff.”
He then looks at the turtle man as he asks, “Before we talk business, may we exchange names? My name is Wabbajack.” He then puts his hat to his chest and offers a small bow.
Pause, puff, and he says, “Polite. My name is… hold on. Been a while.” He then scratches his chin. He then goes, “Oh! That’s right. Thomas is my name.”
“That’s a good name.” Wabbajack says.
“Flattery won’t lower the price lad.” Thomas says.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Wabbajack responds.
I then put my finger to my chin as I think and start seriously thinking about what I want my room to look like. I honestly want to start pumping ideas but, as I think about it, I don’t really know what I want everything to look like, let alone what it would look like together. Especially since it has become very apparent that my level of fashion sense is not quite up to snuff as I once thought it was.
As I am thinking all this, I hear a meat-ripping noise that snaps me back into reality. I look towards the sound and I see that Wabbajack had ripped his arm off at the shoulder and is now holding it towards Thomas. I naturally let out a scream.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!” I yell.
They both look at me and Wabbajack asks, as nonchalantly as ever, “What’s up?”
““What’s up?” You RIPPED your ARM OFF!” I point out.
He looks at the arm he’s holding out and points at it with the arm that he Should be missing as he asks, “This arm?”
I look back and forth and the realization must have been obvious as he then asks, “You forgot about me being able to regenerate, didn’t you?”
I blush as I say, “Yeah…”. I snap out of my embarrassment as I think to ask, “But, doesn’t that still hurt?”
He just shrugs as he asks, “Yeah, why wouldn’t it?”
“Why did you rip your arm off then?” I ask in response.
“Because, we will just simply come back when you understand what would work best for you want for your own room and style. But, for now, this would be the perfect opportunity to give you a device to access the same font of information I have access to And a means of travel if we ever get separated somehow.” He explains as Thomas takes his torn arm and examines it.
Before I can say anything else, we hear, “Five currency…”
Five currency? Just five or five million? It couldn’t be so cheap after he said he would charge more than normal, right?
Just as I think that, Wabbajack says, “Awesome, here you go.” As he hands him five of those matte dice.
“What happened to being more expensive?” I blurt out.
Thomas just shakes his head as he just says, “Inexperienced…” Again.
Wolfie lets out another small growl.
“Now, now. Calm down. Fabrication isn’t expensive by any means since the customer has to provide the materials themselves. So, Fabricators can’t honestly charge a lot since they aren’t doing a lot.” Wabbajack explains while Thomas throws the arm into his machine and starts hitting buttons.
“That makes sense” I think to myself.
Next thing I know, Thomas throws me this small calculator like device. I look down at it and, while it does have the shape of a calculator, the symbols on the buttons are fluctuating and where the screen is supposed to be is this oval like projector lens and on the front-facing side is this little bulb, like what you would see on a remote control.
The confusion on my face must have been apparent as Wabbajack says, “Don’t worry, just fiddle with it and sooner or later you’ll figure out how it works.” He then pats my shoulder.
He looks back over his shoulder and says “Thanks Thomas, we will definitely be coming back. Phenomenal work.” He then gives a thumbs up.
Thomas lets out a puff after giving us a smug smile.
Wolfie takes his scarf form and wraps around my neck as Wabbajack pulls me along by the arm, he asks, “So what next?”
I put the calculator to my head as I honestly try to process everything that’s happened. Not to mention all the studying and practice I have to do just to make everything feel normal. All I can think to say is, “Maybe… it would be best if we go back home?”
“Yeah, that sounds good honestly. It’s getting late and your body needs rest to process everything that’s happened. It must be… well, actually shoot. It IS a whole other world from what you are used to. Best to take it slow. Even though today hasn’t exactly gone smoothly. Yilimet should also be done with all his shopping as well.” He says, using air quotes around shopping.
I guess the air quotes are because Yilimet has been cooking for a household of people with no sense of taste for who knows how long now. As I let out an audible gulp loud enough to make Wabbajack laugh.
With how crazy today has been, I expected the walk back to that spot with the two guards to be even more eventful but, nothing. Everyone pretty much just kept their distance for the most part. I think most were also just heading home.
As we get there, I see Yilimet holding an unusual number of bags as he says, “Hey you two, you wouldn’t believe the news I heard! Someone managed to summon a familiar after all this time and it didn’t go on a murderous rampage. Crazy, right?”
“Crazy, sure. Let’s get home. I’m sure things are going to be a bit more interesting than usual from here on.” Wabbajack says as he cuts open a portal home.
Interesting? Beyond a shadow of a doubt. I can’t help but feel like that, even by his standards, there will be quite some exciting and fascinating adventures ahead of both of us. Just as we all walk through the portal home together, Yilimet asks, “Hey, where did that fox come from?”

2024.05.28 19:29 JavaShipped Kitten (unsure of exact 7-8 months old) obsessed with food.

Hey all,
We adopted a second cat just over a month ago. A little ball of kitten energy called Boe.
We've had some challenges, his energy is off the charts but he's so lovely and loving.
The big problem now he's settled and both cats are beginning to feel comfortable:
Food obsession.
We weren't warned from the shelter about this but he is fighting to get to the food as fast as possible, getting puffed up tail etc when he saw food. Screaming at the top of his little lungs to feed him.
After feeding him what our foods packet recommends, we suspect he was a little underfed at the shelter, especially since the advice I've been reading is "it's pretty hard to overfeed kittens".
But feeding a little more didn't help much. Maybe marginally, but seriously it's wild. If I put down my sandwich while he's around, even for a minute to get some WFH work done, he leaps into action from a hidden place and snaps it up. I of course don't let him eat it but it's ruined a good number of meals.
The advice on vets pages and cat advice pages differs greatly from what I read on Reddit. And I know Reddit isn't the font of knowledge, but I like trying something that someone says works, especially when it's verified by others.
Most websites say free feeding is a no no. Especially as your kitten gets to a certain age, probably around Boe's age.
A good portion of Reddit advice has said that free feeding helped their food obsession because they seem to think it's a good insecurity.
In an effort to try something today I put down a big bowl of kibble for him and he had at it for a good while until he left about 1/3 in the bowl, drinks a bunch and then relaxes. It seems like too much but he does seem way more placid (food coma?).
I just want to do the right thing because the bottom line is he'll have anything all the time and I worry for his health when he's diving for every human food he can't have.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Preferably but not limited to advice with sources?

2024.05.28 19:21 Odd_Specialist_2672 Suggestion: conditional fonts

Could you allow expressions to select fonts for a data field, similar to how you can use expressions to change the position and color?
I know an alternative is to create copies of data fields with different fonts and visibility conditions. But this is a hassle as the list of fields gets very long and it is difficult to preview in the editor if the desired conditions don't exactly match one of the tabs like low/full/dnd.
Also, would it be more battery efficient? I don't know if your app skeleton goes over a list of all objects to check visibility on every rendering pass, or if you lifted out the visibility check to then render a set of objects all at once...?

2024.05.28 18:34 Rawr_Mom Quick-n-dirty comparison of the UK (MVM, 2017) and US (Discotek, 2024) blurays for Berserk '97

When Discotek announced their release of Berserk 1997, they said they would have a native HD scan with some altered text screens. I wondered, then, if this would be the best scan of the '97 series and I've gotten to comparing it to the UK bluray from MVM.
The short version is 'yes', and the long version is 'yes, with a few caveats'. Please note that throughout I use 'Discotek' and 'US' interchangably.
VIDEO
The UK bluray infamously has the incorrect gamma, making the whole thing slightly brighter than it 'should' be compared to the Japanese Bluray. Discotek's release avoids this problem. Generally speaking, you get better contrast and darker self-shadows / shading. Colours generally look a bit more accurate, like in skin tones and in night scenes keeping more of the ambient blue.
There may be a slight reduction in noise / grain on the Discotek release, but it may just be a side-effect of the gamma being correct (like if you turn up the exposure on a camera, you get more noise). It doesn't seem to interfere with any detail, and Berserk's grain has always been generally pretty fine anyway.
Discotek also said they upscaled some 'effects shots' but I can't say I've done enough pixel-peeping to spot those.
IMO, the Gamma correction alone makes Discotek's release better.
AUDIO
Now, I'm not enough of an audiophile to be able to tell you if there is any difference between the sound quality on these releases. What I can tell you is that A: both releases have Stereo for Japanese and English audio, B: the UK bluray has a DTS-HD MA and a DTS fallback audio track (presumably for compatability on older BD players) for both languages while the Discotek one only has DTS-HD MA tracks, C: The Discotek audio is slightly but noticeably louder and D: The UK audio tracks are slightly larger. Specifically (comparing HD MA .dts files):
- UK English audio for episode 1 is 264MB
- Discotek equivalent is 141MB
- Compressed to AAC VBR preset 4, UK audio is 22.3MB, US is 22.1.
- Compressed to FLAC preset 2, UK audio is 106MB, US is 102.
I cannot be sure, to me they're identical, but, there is a chance that, to audiophiles, on high end equipment, the UK release might have slightly better audio quality. The Discotek release has about 300ms of black screen at the start of an episode, so you'd have to offset to use one audio track with the other release's video if you cared to the Nth degree.
With regards to the volume, I initially thought that the last note of Tell Me Why had its fade-out abruptly interrupted on the US release, but after some double-checking this wasn't the case; it's just that being louder, the end of the fade-out is a sharper drop.
I did notice that the title card of episode 25 has an audio hiss / hum on the UK bluray, but not the US release. There might be some other instances of 'cleaning up' like this. So, for audio, it might be a toss-up.
EPISODE CHAPTERS
The Discotek release does not have chapters within episodes. The UK release has four per episode:
- Start of file until end of OP
- First half of the episode (up until the...buffer? Whatever it's called when an anime has a short screen at the start and end of an ad break, in Berserk '97's case it's just a black screen with the word 'Berserk')
- Second half of the episode (end of buffer until the end of the ED)
- Next Episode Preview
It's not great, because there's no dedicated chapters for OP and ED, but it's better than none, and the Discotek release has none.
SUBTITLES
As far as I can tell, both releases use the same translation for subtitles (translation, not a dub transcript, because it's intended for use with the Japanese audio). Both releases contain two PGS sub tracks: one for onscreen text and OP/ED, the other for all that plus dialogue. However, the US release has stylised subtitles that look really, really good. I imagine this is what Discotek's announcement meant when they said enhanced text screens.
In the UK release, all text is a plain font, grey except for episode title cards. The US release has blue for OP and ED, yellow for dialogue, and a really great opening scrawl which fades in with the text. The 'next episode' screen and the Episode title cards have a really great font that I wouldn't realise was an addition if I hadn't watched this series already. Genuinely impressed with how good these are.
EXTRAS
Okay, this is where it gets kind of weird, so bear with me.
- Interview with the anime's producer is present on both releases, upscaled SD
- Sound interview with Miura is present on both, but the UK release has static art of Guts, the US release is a static screen which says AUDIO ONLY
- Storyboard and audio is present on both
- Paint It Berserk is present on both
- There are three versions of the Tell Me Why OP on the UK Bluray, and only 2 on the US release and I've honestly struggled to tell the difference.
- The Outtakes are present on both, but the US release cuts out one where Griffith starts singing, speculated to be because of legal risk / licensing a Whitney Houston song. It's in SD on both releases, but a complete version remade with the Bluray video is present on Youtube.
- The Discotek release includes the trailer for the Discotek bluray itself. It's a neat watch but there's something anachronistically funny about seeing staff named next to projects they wouldn't do until years later.
- Discotek release also features a credits sequence that credits the 1997 staff and the production of the Discotek release.
- Each of the 3 UK blurays has a unique main menu which pans to and fro across some unique artwork. These have been removed for the US release which is now just a static menu image on both of its two discs. Forces plays on both releases.
And here's where it gets very weird.
'Episode R-0' from the Japanese Bluray is mostly absent from the UK release, but restored on the US release. This is a ~30 minute video which cuts between a 'compressed' version of the first five-and-a-half episodes (up until Zodd's transformation) and various odds-and-ends extras. The audio is all Japanese but has been subtitled on the Discotek release. None of the show clips are included on the UK release but many of the bits and pieces are, selectable as individual extras. The US release has some interlacing through the whole thing, but it's not severe and any filter should handle it with ease.
The other bits within Episode R-0 are:
- Various 3DCG promo shorts: Not at all present on the UK release. A little goofy and surreal in that 90s CGI way.
- Music videos for Waiting So Long and Tell Me Why: not present on UK release.
- Clean OP and ED: present on both
- Forces Music Video: Present on both, but US version has a longer lead-in, a title card telling you it was directed by Satoshi Kon (TIL!) and new subtitles for the Japanese lyrics with a translation.
- Japanese TV spot: present on both, but now has subtitles on the US release.
Overall, I'm a little miffed that the art menus have been lost, and I think Episode R-0 would have been better off just as the show clips and separate out all the bits in between into their own videos like on the UK release - and of course the Griffith singing is a huge loss! - but there's simply more extras on the Discotek version, and with new subtitles for others.
CONCLUSION
The US Discotek release from March really is Just That Good. The only 'problems' with it are the little bits here and there that would make it truly complete if it had them. Go get it - but if you're in the EU it's probably not worth paying import prices. I'm still very happy with my UK BD set.

2024.05.28 16:28 TuxedoCarl zFont3 broke Samsung Keyboard

zFont3 broke Samsung Keyboard
After I used zfont3, these 2 emojis ✋️✊️ (and only those 2 and only with the yellow color) show as the emojis from google. I tried to change the emojis with zfont3 again to see if it would get fixed but it didnt work. I tried using the default font because it removes the emojis from zfont3, but it didn't work. I tried using a different font like Gothic Bold but it did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled zfont3 and it didnt work. I restarted my phone and it didn't work. I also went into safe mode and it did not get fixed. But if I use a different keyboard (for example Microsoft Swiftkey and Gboard) those 2 emojis wont show as the ones from google. What happened?? Have I broke my phone?? I tried erasing the samsung keyboard cache and data but it still didnt fix it. I have Samsung A32 4G and One Ui 5.1 so there aren't any new software updates.

2024.05.28 15:22 SirVulc Struggling with Font Consistency in One UI 6.1

Despite updating from One UI 5.1 through till 6.1, Samsung "default" font doesn't yet reflect across any 3rd party app I use. It's annoying to watch two different looking letter design on my keyboard vs. On the app.
Is Is there a way to force the default font to be applied universally, or is there any workaround for this issue?
