Not able to log in - IP blocked after single attempt

2024.05.15 22:51 devpat89 Not able to log in - IP blocked after single attempt

Update: marking this as solved. I don't know what caused the lock out - I'm 100% certain I only entered my password once. "Resolution" if it counts: I'm thankful I had the DSfinder app installed on my ipad through which I was able to see "IP Blocking" settings and managed to unblock the IP address of my PC. Had forgotten I had installed it on that device. Don't think it contributed to the issue as again, device is WiFI only and never open the Synology app. Just massively relieved!
Hi All,
Would appreciate some help here. I'm really confused what's going on.
Background
I last logged into my DSM 2 days ago on my PC. Just tried to log in right now and something odd happened, I'm used to signing in by entering my password followed by 2FA code even though it's my personal device. This time on attempting to sign on to my admin account, after entering my username I received a message to validate my log in using the Synology Secure SignIn app instead of entering a password. I do not have the app. I tried another non-admin account, still the same message. Upon attempting to log in with a password, instead I receive a message saying too many failed attempts have been made to log in and the IP address has been blocked. To be clear, I had not made any prior attempts from my personal device (it was sleeping until about 5 minutes before I attempted to log in). Although I couldn't access my DSM account, I was still able to access my mapped network drives. I tried to restart my PC and tried to log in again, but same result, and this time no luck with accessing mapped network drives either.
Edit to add: I never log into my NAS through any other devices besides this PC in my home network.
Existing Security
My NAS is exposed to the internet only via Plex. It is port forwarded so not the standard 32400 and behind a double nat. Plex has a secure password and also has 2FA.
I have firewall rules set up so only can be accessed in my country of origin UK, and after 3 or 5 wrong attempts I believe it blocks the IP. Prior to this I've never had any attempts made on my NAS.
I have my original admin account disabled, and the new one is super obscure. My password is beyond what is reflected here: https://caltechsites-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/imss/images/2023_Password_Table_Square.original.jpg
In addition, I haven't logged into my authenticator app on this device.
Oddities
One of the drives I have is dedicated to media. I'm still able to access this through Plex. I run Plex through docker and I am still able to access this through my NAS IP address.
Edit to add: I have DLNA enabled on my NAS, I'm able to access media through this as well (including through my PC).
I have another laptop that was also sleeping. I've just switched it on, it is still connected to my mapped network drives and I can access the majority of them (different limited access credentials), but none of the content is blocked by any means. I never attempt to log into DSM through this laptop. Only the initial mapping of the drives.
I've not received any emails notifying that I've been hacked/my content has been locked until I pay
Synology assistant isn't having luck finding the Synology NAS on the network at all either.
Maybe related
I've requested a speed upgrade from my internet provider. They've sent me a new router and asked me to plug it in within 5 days. I've not done this yet and was actually logging into my DSM account to double check all my settings prior to switching out.
If you're still reading, thanks so much!
At this point I'm clueless if it's something malicious or not. I'm going to run Malwarebytes overnight on my PC. Is there a chance that a change at my ISP side could result in the above?
I'm thinking worst case scenario I've been hacked, but let's say I have a keylogger on my machine, is it possible for them to break into my NAS based on my passwords alone? My 2FA is always from my personal phone and I don't log into that on my PC. Really not sure how else they could have gotten access, and again, no emails or anything, nothing has been zipped.
Would appreciate your help / suggestions on what I can do here please!
Thanks!

EDIT: SOLVED
FIX: Updating kernel form unsupported 5.9 to later version
I hope this is not the wrong place to post this. Have been using manjaro as main os since Jan 2021. This seemed like a large update with kde6 and all.
My wifi is no longer working even though the device is detected and it seems like I have the right driver.

My friend here got blocked by his landlord while he was using their WiFi secretly. Is there anyway he can get unblocked? He says the ISP is Worldlink.

2024.05.11 14:14 plant-yogi Am I being “discarded?” Or is this normal aftermath?

So, this is all pretty new to me, and I’m still navigating my way through the aftermath of a recent interaction with someone I suspect is a narcissist, and at the very least has severe narcissistic traits. My ex and I broke up around a month and a half ago due to him lying and cheating on me. The relationship was quite literally otherwise perfect. I say it was divine intervention, because I wasn’t even snooping or suspecting ANYTHING. It really just fell into my lap, and piecing together the ways that he hid so much and made himself out to be this perfect man is terrifying. The aftermath was more lies, him shifting blame, not feeling any true remorse because he felt that he’d not cheated on me.
I broke up with him after all of this came to light. And we stayed in communication for about 2 weeks here and there, because I was still on the fence about things with him, thinking, “maybe we could work it out.” Well…at first, the aftermath of these talks/convos post-breakup seemed to really give me some closure and hope that maybe he would one day change and grow into a better man, a “what’s meant to be will be” sort of acceptance, even though my decision to end it now was not going to change atp. He was (in hindsight) selling the dream that he’s still this great guy who wants to do the work, go to therapy, be better for our future together, etc.
I set the boundary to be NC for my own peace of mind. He lasted all of 6 days. I didn’t respond, and he continued the outreach. I blocked him temporarily after the 3rd attempt. His response was to stop sharing his location (despite saying he shared it with me FOR me, so I wouldn’t have to run into him at all) and he signed me out of shared streaming platforms lol. A week goes by, I’m thinking he wouldn’t keep reaching out (silly me) so I unblocked him. He reaches out again, calls me, texts me saying he can’t do NC anymore and needs to talk to figure out where we stand (we are clearly broken up and NC with no promise to get back together, in fact I actually encouraged him to move on with his life and said that the last hangout would be the last hangout). He said if I care about him at all to please call him back (incredibly manipulative).
This sent me into a whirlwind of emotion, but I didn’t respond. So about 7 hours go by, he calls again and it goes straight to voicemail because of DND. Then all of a sudden I realize I am unfollowed on several things, he forwards me a bill transfer request for my wifi service, and says he wants his things back (mind you, no mention of said things/clothes for 6 weeks after the breakup), and says if I don’t take ownership of the bill, he’ll cancel the service (my wifi is linked to his phone account but I pay for it monthly).
Even though I already broke up with him, it feels like he’s trying to do things to 1) get my attention 2) feel in control and 3) have his own version of breaking up with me.
NC has been dreadfully painful. And to see him go from this person who allegedly understands their wrong and wants to make it right and give me space to grieve and heal—now all of a sudden it feels like he’s trying to punish me because he isn’t getting his way. Playing the victim when he’s the cheater is baffling. I refuse to break NC but I am really just seeking support. I’ve never experienced this in a relationship, and the emotional reactivity is disorienting for me and making me question a lot.
TLDR; broke up with my nex who violates my NC boundaries. When I don’t respond, he tries any little and obscure way to get my attention and “punish me” to solicit a response. Seeking support.

2024.05.10 19:59 Shmyea Last War blocked by WiFi Provider

My WiFi provider currently blocks the Last War app due to a policy on 'blocking high bandwidth applications'.
What details would I need to provide to them to unblock the app? IPs or certain ports? Other games like Pokémon Go seem to work fine.
Why might Last War be classed as a high bandwidth game by default? Obviously the actual data usage is a fraction of any social media app.

Wifi adapter not recognised ubuntu 20.04 intel wifi 6 ax203

Hello everyone, I recently received a gift from my parents. It's the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G6 IRL. I would like to do some ROS projects on it, but the wifi adapter does not work (Intel WiFi 6 AX203). I tried upgrading to version 22.04, and the wifi adapter worked on it. However, I encountered issues running ROS, so I had to revert back to Ubuntu 20.04.

Here are a few things that I have tried

I haw unable to find any drivers for this specific network card: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005511/wireless.html https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi

None of the below mentioned code snippets worked.

1
``` wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pimlie/ubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh/masteubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh chmod a+x ubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh sudo ./ubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh
sudo rmmod iwlmvm sudo rmmod iwlwifi sudo rfkill unblock all sudo modprobe iwlwifi sudo modprobe iwlmvm
sudo apt install backport-iwlwifi-dkms ```
2
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:canonical-hwe-team/backport-iwlwifi sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install backport-iwlwifi-dkms
3
sudo rfkill unblock all sudo ifconfig wlp2s0 up # check ifconfig to get your wifi device name! sudo nmcli radio wifi on
2024.05.07 01:05 Alternative-Split902 Unblocked device..can’t reconnect
I unblocked a device from the app now I can no longer connect to my wifi. I’ve restarted my UDM SE, Unplugged’s for 30+ secs, went into to the UI to verify the Mac is no longer blocked (can’t even find the Mac). Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? I’m about to use a previous back up
2024.05.04 11:55 OhGeeLIVE [HELP] Framework 13 with Fedora 40 crashes/freezes and cant be restarted. Logs inside !
Hello,
I recently received my Framework 13 with an AMD 7840u, 32GB DDR5 and a 1TB SSD. As soon as it arrived I installed Fedora 40 with Gnome 46 on it. Since then I am having weird Freezes/Crashed that I do not experienced on any of my other devices so far. The problem goes as follow:
When working/browsing/using the laptop, suddenly icons disapear from the launch menu and power menu (restart, power off icons and so on), terminal commands all give the same "input/output" error, and apps stop opening. When I try to restart me laptop from the power menu, it gives me this error, and I need to hard reset the laptop (hold power button until it turns off):
[FAILED] Failed to start cloudflared.service. — [FAILED] Failed unmounting var-lib-nfs-rpc_pipefs.mount — RPC Pipe File [FAILED] Failed to start plymouth-reboot.service — Show Plymouth Reboot Screen. [FAILED] Failed to start systemd-uconsole-setup.service — Virtual Console Setup. [FAILED] Failed unmounting boot-efi.mount - /boot/efi. [FAILED] Failed unmounting home.mount - /home. [FAILED] Failed unmounting tap.mount - Temporary Directory /tmp. [FAILED] Failed unmounting boot.mount - /boot. [FAILED] Failed deactivating swap deu-zrane.swap — Compressed Swap on /dev/zramo. [7604.284645] watchdog: watchdogo: watchdog did not stop! [!!!!!!] Failed to execute shutdown binary.
Interestingly enough when it happened to me again this morning after waking the laptop up from hibernation/sleep, I went to check my journalctl and it only logged 9 seconds during this time, but I assure you the laptop was awak for more than 30 seconds before I hit restart, here are my journalctl logs, begging at yesterdays sleep state:
The only thing I got plugged in into my laptop is a Dell dock with 3 displays plugged into to it and a Logitech usb dongle for my wireless mouse and keyboard. Im starting to think that this could be a SSD problem as it shows unmounting problems when trying to restart and the journalctl apparently stops logging when the problem starts. What do you guys think ?
2024.05.04 06:27 Few-Ad3972 My experience with PureFibre X 3.0 Gigabit Internet
(This is a throwaway)
It's fast!
 Speedtest by Ookla Server: TELUS - Vancouver, BC (id: 3049) ISP: Shaw Communications Idle Latency: 2.50 ms (jitter: 0.14ms, low: 2.48ms, high: 3.00ms) Download: 3094.32 Mbps (data used: 3.1 GB) 11.54 ms (jitter: 0.40ms, low: 2.46ms, high: 12.58ms) Upload: 3067.65 Mbps (data used: 1.5 GB) 7.62 ms (jitter: 0.62ms, low: 2.41ms, high: 9.48ms) Packet Loss: Not available. Result URL: https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
I have had Shaw (now Rogers) 1.5Gb down/150Mb up for many years. Telus sent me a SPRINGSAVINGS promo code for Residential service. The promo was:
1.0Gb up/1.0Gb down for $65/month on a 2-year contract 1.5Gb up/1.5Gb down for $75/month on a 2-year contract 3.0Gb up/3.0Gb down for $85/month on a 2-year contract
I signed up for 3.0Gb and after a lengthy installation process, I was testing. I never canceled Rogers/Shaw yet. However, the brass tacks of it all is I hate to report that Telus filters incoming ports for Residential service. If this matters to you, it's a big problem. Their security measures policy mentions certain ports are blocked but in fact, all incoming ports seem to be blocked.
From a consumer-like-me point of view, the security policy is stupidly restricting "to protect me". However, if you pay (a lot) more, you can get a business account that does not block any ports. Go figure.
I had 15 days to trial the service and decided to cancel after 5 days. There is no option (I've talked to many Telus departments - tech support tiers, loyalty, business sales, etc) to unblock ports except to go to a business account which doesn't block ports. The business account is over $200/month on a 3-year contract (without a promo). With a promo, I was offered as low as $115/month on a 5-year contract, $135/month on a 3-year contract.
There are a lot of technical details behind my testing but not worth mentioning here. Things may be different on the lower tier speeds but for 3Gb, you receive the Network Access Hub (Technicolor NH20T), an SPF+ XGS PON and the WiFi 6E. The NH20T is what's registered on the Telus back end, so you cannot bypass the NAH, plugging the SPF+ module directly into another device.
It was a fun 5 days... but it wasn't something that was going to work for me in the long run. Again, if having incoming ports open is important to you, don't bother. Rogers/Shaw doesn't block ports.
2024.05.03 13:59 OkTopic7028 Found a Galaxy A52s I'd reported lost, but now cannot connect even to Wifi or Hotspot/Tethering
So, the Galaxy A52S was pretty awesome, has 1/8" aux audio jack, and gets Geekbench 5: 761 Single, 2404 Multi with the Snapdragon 778G upper midrange chip.
The current Galaxy A54 gets GB5: 772 Single 2616 Multi, so the A52s is basically equivalent, was a great device, punches well above it's weight 💪.
But, I cannot connect even to Wifi or Hotspot/tethering. Only can connect to USB to PC or MTP browsing.
Any way to fix this? Will a factory reset help? Or once I can get the IMEI unblocked thru carrier, will this possibly help? I had thought IMEI reported lost/stolen did not affect Wifi, but some people seem to think it does.
I prob also reported it lost thru Google privacy & security, tho I clearly didn't request a remote factory reset or blocking sign in/unlock if that was an option.
Any tips? Will factory reset help? I'd rather not go thru that step because a) it's all set up how I prefer, and b) has like 20GB of mp3 files and mixed sets.
Thx for any help/tips 🙏
2024.05.01 13:51 OkTopic7028 Found a Android Phone I reported lost and remote signed out of 2 years ago, but can't connect to Wifi or USB or Bluetooth Hotspot.
So, I found an old phone I'd reported lost ~2 years ago.
Which is great, it's the old Galaxy A52S, good Snapdragon chip and last model with the 1/8" aux audio ~~ dongle~~ jack, so, good for wired 🎧 people, audio pros/nerds.
But, I am unable to connect to wifi or Hotspots. Or even to connect via USB to another android device or my windows laptop.
Edit #2: I finally was able to connect for like transfer via MTP Host, which is a step in the right direction direction.
Still, I really need a way to report this device "found by Owner" to Google and my mobile network provider, to unblock the device/IMEI, so I can update the OS as well as update and sync Apps. For instance I have 14GB of downloaded YouTube videos at any given time, mostly 🎶 🎹 but also news programs and such.
Is this because the IMEI was reported lost and possibly blocked/blacklisted?
Edit #1: Also i prob signed out and/or reported it lost on Google's security & privacy page where u can see all your devices, so, will cross post this on AndroidQuestions or something.
Not planning on using this with a SIM, just as a wifi/audio/music device. But, all internet connections appear blocked, even USB tethering.
Any advice/help? Can I report it "found " so I can connect to Wifi?
If I just put my current active Sim in, will this help?
At this point, i just want to retrieve files before I reset the device, if all else fails. Tho ideally I wouldn't have to reset, because it is still a lot or work to tweak and set up a new Samsung Device the way I prefer it, without using the Smart Switch feature.
2024.04.24 01:13 NaturalSpecific7227 I built my PC but win 11 won't install
Hi everyone.
So I face the " A media driver your computer needs is missing" issue that several people are seeing while trying to install Win 11 on a new PC build...
Problem being that:
Does anyone know how to just install the driver? Also, is the "Intel rapid storage stuff" compatible with the Samsung ssd ?
I really need help guys, if someone could explain. If I need to make more verif in BIOS, please let me know, otherwise how can I unblock this situation?
Also, just creating the USB boot for Win 11 was an absolute purge, I had to go recreating the ISO without the autorun etc... because nothing would work otherwise. Could the issue come from this? This was a fix that I found on Reddit because just doing the standard Boot key would just not work. I had to use Rufus and Winarchiver, which I find absurd because Microsoft should provide a direct USB installer normally no? Why doesn't it work properly?
I really don't understand why things just got soo screwed up right now! That's not my first PC build, but I don't remember having had so many difficulties before...
Thx so much for the help!
---------------------------EDIT OF THE COMMENT WITH SOLUTION HERE: --------------------------------------
So, I managed to resolve the situation so I will leave this comment here for anyone who face the same situation in the future..
If you face the "A media driver your computer needs is missing" issue, you may want to troubleshoot in the following manner:
First of all, a special shoutout to Microsoft technical support who spent a good half hour with me on the chat and also found all the issues that led to this situation!
  • Yes, the troubleshooting started by asking if the USB drive was too old or malfunctioning. Apparently, that could be a cause of the bad installation. In my case, it wasn't. Also, the drive needs more than 8Go of free capacity so take a 32Go or more and you'll be fine. Don't forget that you will have to format it, so don't have anything valuable on the USB stick.
  • Second and most importantly, the USB drive must be formatted in NTFS! Before installing the Boot system from Windows 11 from the page (the second on the list) the technician explained that FAT32 (that is picked by default) is compatible with MAC but definitely creates broken installers for PC .... something people would have certainly liked to know before, right? So NTFS before downloading the Boot on the USB guys, that's super important!!!
I wouldn't have had to go through all the shenanigans of recreating the ISO with Rufus and all, if I had known earlier that the install kept failing because of this.
  • People say that Port USB 3.0 can also be faulty and in this case you may want to try your other USB ports, especially go into a 2.0. In my case I only had 3.0 and 3.1 Ports so it wasn't the issue here.
  • After successfully using the USB key to install the Boot of Win 11, the installer this time went through the "enter Product Key" page. Something that wasn't appearing before. However, once the key was entered (or used the button "I don't have a Product Key" ) then the request for drivers reappeared anyway...
  • Suggestion from the technician: In order to find the driver that you need, look into the MOTHERBOARD manufacturer (in this case ASUS) and not the HARDDRIVE manufacturer (In my case Samsung)! Turns out, he was right!
Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI are actually going to have the correct Intel Storage ... driver (ISRT) adapted to their motherboard while trying to get the right driver directly at Samsung proved completely impossible !! So much time wasted !!
  • Put the updated driver on a separate USB, with eventually a WIFI or LAN driver (the installer will ask you later to connect to the internet, so you may need the drivers) and keep it ready for the moment it asks you for the drivers.
  • When the installer ask you for the driver, click on Browse and then select the USB folder that contain the driver exe. just click on it and you should see the various partitions of your harddrive appear in the box.
The question of creating the proper partition is something else... It turned out that I also created a partition that was incompatible with the installation (something related to MRB and not EFI or I don't know what....) but the system allowed me to delete the partition, then click on the "New" button. Magic, the installer created directly the partitions it needed...
However, remember that if you want separate partitions for installing Windows and installing your data, you will need to make sure to allocate different values than the max Go taken by default. Otherwise, the all disk will be the partition of windows.
Then choose your Drive proper partition (you will see below an error message if the partition is not the right one with the proper format that windows needs. It will tell you that it cannot install here) and continue the install.
  • If you have a WIFI card like me, I found this help online to allow the installer to find the available networks:
Press SHIFT + F10 to open the command console. Enter the following command: C:\Windows\explorer.exe & exit
It will automatically find the available Wifi networks and you can pick the right one to connect to internet and finalize the installation!
I hope this will help you as I am myself very grateful to all of you guys who participated in helping me! Cheers!
2024.04.23 20:09 ahsanzak145 IP automatically flagged, Error: PEC-SUB-0002
My IP at home as per Prolific support automatically got flagged MAYBE because i was using remote desktop while doing home office or MAYBE because i try bunch of other survey platforms like Swagbucks. And i found it out randomly by chance, as i could see studies on my phone connected to 5g and none when i would connect to my Wifi. Support team says that the IP should be unblocked at some point, dont know when though. My question is, how would i know that my IP at home has been unblocked, since you dont get any notification on the prolific website whatsoever, if the account is running 100 % or not. The only notification you get is this standard "Wait for studies".
I thought I had a good gig running, that could cover my leisure activities. But if this keeps on happening, I would lose motivation real fast :(
2024.04.22 01:07 ruhnet AX201 WiFi (iwlwifi)
UPDATE: I figured it out---there is a setting in the BIOS that enables IPv4 and IPv6 networking during UEFI boot. When I disabled that and rebooted into Linux, the iwlwifi driver loaded correctly. It still worked even after re-enabling the settings. So, I think that some code in the UEFI had saved the firmware that Windows had loaded, and was reloading it in the boot process.
What made me take a closer look at the BIOS was I tried booting into several live Linux distros and the error shown by dmesg was the same in all of them when trying to load the iwlwifi driver. So I knew it couldn't be related to the firmware version or kernel version.
I have a Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 6 with AX201 WiFi. It came with Windows 11 with fast boot and hibernation enabled. Wifi does work in Windows. I installed Arch from the bootable ISO. The Wifi adapter of course didn't show up as being on the system at all, other than in lspci. So after some (lots) of googling and reading, I booted into Windows and disabled hibernation and fast boot (with the GUI and then to make sure disabled hibernation again with powershell using pwrconfig), and rebooted (I powered completely off, and also tried a soft reboot before booting into Linux via grub). But I still have not been able to get iwlwifi to load properly.
I also disabled the setting on the Wifi adapter in Windows that lets it put the device to sleep to save power. (I don't remember the exact wording it used but I got there through device manager.)
I installed linux-lts (6.6.28-1-lts) and of course linux-firmware.
lspci -k shows this:
00:14.3 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX201 (rev 20) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 0070 Kernel modules: iwlwifi
journalctl -b -g iwl gives this:
Apr 21 16:59:58 x1y kernel: iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) Apr 21 16:59:58 x1y kernel: iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: CSR_RESET = 0x10 Apr 21 16:59:58 x1y kernel: iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Host monitor block 0x0 vector 0x0 Apr 21 17:28:11 x1y kernel: iwlwifi: probe of 0000:00:14.3 failed with error -110
Full output of that here: https://paste.sh/XbGx3h78#-5iEAYMaPqO3TGNfWzSHWIui
I made an /etc/modprobe.d/iwl.conf file like so:
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1
and tried:
modprobe -r iwlwifi echo 1 tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:14.3/reset modprobe -v iwlwifi
but the module still won't load correctly and gives the same output on dmesg/journalctl with the error -110 and all the Host monitor block lines.
rfkill shows no wifi:
ID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD 0 bluetooth tpacpi_bluetooth_sw unblocked unblocked 1 bluetooth hci0 unblocked unblocked
iwconfig and ip link also don't show the adapter at all.
I have tried messing with the airplane mode button/Wifi disable button, turning off Wifi in Windows, disabling the hardware in Windows, etc. with no success.
I also tried disabling the Wifi in the BIOS and booting, then restart, re-enable it in BIOS, then start again. No dice.
Any help would be appreciated. :-)
2024.04.21 12:02 Dear-Owl7333 Best VPNs to Watch Crunchyroll Anime from Anywhere 🌍🔓
Hey anime fans! Are you a die-hard Crunchyroll subscriber who can't get enough of those sweet, sweet Japanese animations? 😍 Well, I've got some awesome news for you - with the right VPN, you can watch Crunchyroll from literally any corner of the globe! 🌎
Now, I know what you're thinking - "But won't that violate Crunchyroll's terms of service?" And you'd be right to be a little worried about that. Using a VPN to access content that's not available in your region could be seen as a no-no by the anime streaming gods. 😬
But fear not, my fellow otaku! I'm here to guide you through the Wild West of VPNs for Crunchyroll, so you can watch your favorite shows without any legal risk. Plus, we'll make sure your internet service provider (ISP) can't slow down your precious anime streams. 💨
So grab your body pillow, get cozy, and let's dive right in! 💻
Why You Might Need a VPN for Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll is available in most countries, but the shows you can watch often vary based on where you're located. 🌐 Different licensing agreements mean the full library is usually only accessible from the US.
If you're traveling abroad or living outside the States, you might find your favorite shows are blocked or unavailable. A VPN can give you a US IP address, tricking Crunchyroll into thinking you're accessing it from within the country. Boom! Full anime collection unlocked! 🔓
But that's not the only reason to use a VPN for Crunchyroll. These nifty tools can also:
- Stop your ISP from throttling your internet speed when streaming video 🐢➡️🚀
- Protect you from hackers and snoopers on public WiFi networks 🔒
- Allow safe and private torrenting of anime shows (if that's your thing) ⛵
So while a VPN may be essential for unblocking Crunchyroll libraries, it also provides some great privacy and security benefits too. It's a win-win! 🏆🏆
How to Choose the Best VPN for Crunchyroll
Not all VPNs are created equal when it comes to streaming anime. There are a few key things you'll want to look out for:
With those criteria in mind, here are my top VPN recommendations for watching Crunchyroll in 2024:
  1. 🥇 NordVPN - All-Around Awesome for Crunchyroll
It's no surprise that NordVPN tops this list. This VPN powerhouse ticks all the boxes - it's super fast, insanely secure, and awesome for streaming.
NordVPN has over 5,400 servers across 59 countries, with a huge portion of those servers located in the United States. That's a lot of IP options for unblocking that sweet Crunchyroll content! 🇺🇸
Need speed for silky smooth anime binges? NordVPN's NordLynx protocol is based on WireGuard and can hit blistering download speeds of 445Mbps! Plus, it bypasses Crunchyroll's VPN blocks like a hot kunai through butter.
When it comes to security, NordVPN doesn't play around. You get military-grade encryption, a kill switch, protection against WebRTC leaks, twoavavailable double VPN servers, and Onion over VPN for accessing .onion sites. It's also one of the most privacy-focused VPNs, with an independently audited no-logs policy.
Other cool NordVPN features for anime fans include Smart DNS for streaming on devices that can't run VPN apps, split-tunneling, and up to 6 simultaneous device connections.
NordVPN is a teensy bit pricey compared to some rivals, but frequent discounts make it totally affordable. There's even a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can take it for a test drive first.
  1. 🥈 Surfshark - Unlimited Device Support and Amazing Value 💰
Here's a VPN that really packs a punch for the price - Surfshark is an ultra affordable option that still delivers all the goods for Crunchyroll streaming.
With over 3,200 servers across 100 countries (including many in the US), you'll have no trouble finding a fast, reliable connection to the Crunchyroll库 Surfshark's speeds are blisteringly fast too, thanks to its WireGuard implementation.
But where Surfshark really shines is in its unlimited simultaneous device connections. That's right - one subscription lets you stream Crunchyroll on as many phones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, and gaming consoles as you want! Perfect for the whole anime-loving family. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Security features include military-grade encryption, a kill switch, protection against WebRTC/DNS/IPv6 leaks, and Surfshark's handy bypasser that disguises your VPN traffic. There's also a strict no-logs policy that's been independently audited.
Other cool things like split-tunneling, static IP servers, and a smart DNS solution called Nexshield round out Surfshark's streaming-friendly feature set.
Surfshark isn't perfect (no VPN is) but it delivers insane value at a crazy low price - especially with its regular discounts and 30-day money-back offer.
  1. 🥉 ExpressVPN - Beginner-Friendly Apps and Top-Notch Streaming
If you're new to the VPN game, ExpressVPN is probably your best bet for using with Crunchyroll. Its apps are a dream for non-techies, with a simple, intuitive interface across all platforms.
But don't let the user-friendliness fool you - ExpressVPN is a serious powerhouse when it comes to unblocking and streaming capabilities. It works with heaps of video services including Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and of course Crunchyroll.
ExpressVPN has high-speed servers in 94 countries, including cities all across the United States. It uses its own proprietary Lightway protocol that's designed for super fast, reliable connections. No more buffering woes!
On the security front, you get military-grade encryption, perfect forward secrecy, a kill switch, and DNS/IPv6 leak protection. ExpressVPN doesn't log any of your online activities either.
Some other nifty features include split-tunneling, smart DNS, mediastreamer for smart TVs and gaming consoles, and up to 5 simultaneous connections.
The only real downside? ExpressVPN doesn't come cheap. But frequent discounts take a bit of the sting out of the pricing. Plus there's that sweet 30-day money-back guarantee as a safety net.
  1. 💻 CyberGhost - Streaming Optimized Servers and Massive Network
CyberGhost has one of the biggest VPN server networks around, with over 7,700 servers spanning 91 countries. That's a whole lotta options for finding a lightning-fast US server to unblock Crunchyroll!
But the really cool thing about CyberGhost is its streaming-optimized servers, which are configured specifically for buffer-free video streaming on popular services. There's even one optimized just for Crunchyroll!
I took CyberGhost for a spin and could easily access the full Crunchyroll anime library, with no stuttering or quality issues. Slick!
CyberGhost covers all the security essentials too - military-grade encryption, a kill switch, DNS/IP leak protection, and a comprehensive no-logs policy that's been independently audited.
Other streaming-friendly features include unlimited bandwidth, 7 simultaneous device connections, and Smart DNS for non-VPN devices.
CyberGhost is pretty affordable, especially on longer plans. You can test it out yourself thanks to the generous 45-day money-back guarantee - plenty of time for an extended anime binge!
  1. 💻 Private Internet Access - Simple But Solid for Crunchyroll
If you're looking for a straightforward, no-nonsense VPN for accessing US Crunchyroll, Private Internet Access (PIA) could be just what you need.
PIA has servers in all 50 US states, and it's a cinch to connect to the fastest one for your location with the auto-connect feature. Its WireGuard implementation means lightning-quick VPN speeds too.
While not as fancy as some premium VPNs, PIA has all the essential security chops - military-grade encryption, a kill switch, leak protection, and a cast-iron no-logs policy that's been proven in court.
The Android app comes loaded with an internet killswitch, split-tunneling, proxy support, and the ability to use PIA on unlimited devices. Sweet!
PIA might not dazzle with eye-catching features, but it's reliable, secure, and excellent value for money - especially if you nab one of the frequent discounts. It even throws in a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Stream Crunchyroll Anywhere with a VPN! 📺🌍
There you have it - my top VPN picks for watching ALL the Crunchyroll anime you can handle in 2024, no matter where you're located on this big ol' globe.
But before you rush off and start binging, there's a couple things to keep in mind:
1) While using a VPN for Crunchyroll is likely fine legally, it does violate the platform's terms of service. So maybe keep a low profile and don't go shouting about it from the rooftops. 🤫
2) Make sure to grab a VPN with a money-back guarantee, so you can test it out with Crunchyroll first before fully committing. My #1 recommendation NordVPN has a risk-free 30-day refund window, which is awesome.
So there you go! Now you're free to travel the world catching every Crunchyroll anime as it airs, whether you're kicking back at home or on a beach in Bali. 🏖
Grab one of those trusty VPNs, settle in with your favorite snacks, and let the anime binge commence! Kanpai! 🍻
2024.04.19 22:14 pvera Fios-provided router auto blocks all devices
I have had Fios for over a decade and been on gigabit for at least two years, and after the last discount expiration they sent me the new router and extender at no cost. The problem is that I can't get the damn router to play nice with the rest of my network.
Old setup: ONT-> netgear wireless router->a second netgear wireless router setup as a WAP, there's a mix of ethernet and wifi devices like PCs, phones, etc.
For starters, the login page has Javascript errors (even with ad blocking disabled, even in an incognito session), so I can't log into the router and am stuck using the Android app, which is buggy as hell. In addition, the parental controls seem to be mandatory and assume any device connected is blocked, so I have to go one by one to unblock. And it keeps toggling them back to blocked mode again.
Basically I wasted an hour of my life where all I managed to do was get the router online and surf the web from one desktop for a few minutes at a time between blockings.
What's connected to the router?
Wired: PC, an Xbox Series X and an unmanaged ethernet switch, and a netgear router setup as a WAP and with NAT turned off (it is connected on the LAN side).
Wireless: three phones, Kindle readers, wireless printers, streaming sticks, gaming consoles, etc.
The router was able to register 13 devices, which it then proceeded to play with me a game of find-the-blocked-device. At least I know this isn't a cabling or signal strength issue.
After I had burned over an hour I switched back to my old setup and was back online in a minute.
What am I missing here?
2024.04.17 18:14 Alarming_Valuable700 It says my account is locked -- I am freaking out!!
My M1 account is locked, i got an email to unblock, and did that as well. But It is still LOCKED, I am really freaking out now. It is more than 1 hour that it is locked. Please Please get this fixed ASAP. Atleast give me a call, I have sent several MESSAGES, and I have been in the line for more than 1 hour now. WHAT IS HAPPENING!... SHOULD I JUST MOVE OUT OF M1???... REALLY FRUSTRATED!
Update: It looks like it is working when I use my mobile 5G instead of Wifi, I think even though customer rep said my account is unlocked, they also seem to have a IP blocker which may be causing the issue. M1 >>> CAN YOU LOOK INTO THAT. When do you remove the block on my IP?
2024.04.16 08:42 cutiezombie210 To the person who blocked me?
I just want to apologize for not having the chance to read your request messaged..
I hope you can unblocked me and know that I couldn’t open your request message to respond back my WiFi connection was not working and I was feeling very sad and depressed and working a lot
I took a screenshot of our chats but only to show you the messages I’ve sent to you in case if you didn’t get the chance to read them.
The screenshots are not to show the world. I promise you OK I am a Christian myself and a good person. OK the screenshot was just to show you the message I’ve sent you so you can know I have responded..
But I am really sorry for responding late and I think that you blocked me because you probably think that I wasn’t going to respond or that I ignored you and I just want to apologize because…
It’s not true I promise I wasn’t ignored you. I did. I’m sorry for not responding. I must forgotten but the truth is I didn’t forget. I did read your message but couldn’t respond and I’m sorry for being late.
