So I know most people here probably have their own sauce recipe etc but for context, I'm using a store bought bottle for ease of use. So I made my first dish and I'm trying to learn more in cooking for dates etc.
So I started by cooking my protein, angus beef (93/7 blend) in a 12 inch pan. While tossing my spaghetti in a crock pot of water at medium heat. Following that internet trend of you'll know the pasta is cooked is when it falls into the pan. So the meat is cooked. Waiting on the pasta. Pasta finally seems soft enough to my taste. Strain that. Toss the meat back into the crock pot with a whole bottle of sauce, though it wasn't enough to "cover" the meat AND pasta that I tossed back in to the pot. Wait for the pasta/meat sauce to boil slightly and toss the strained pasta back in. Give it about five minutes then serve. Is this how you should do it?
Also how does one properly save cooked pasta in sauce? Fridge time? Freezer time?

2024.05.28 19:00 optimizeddude Dog having strange events. Local vets cannot figure it out.

We have a 10 year old male boxer who about a year ago had an issue where he was running really hard and lost function in his rear legs and then collapsed all together. He wasnā€™t breathing so we immediately performed cpr until he recovered. The vet thinks it was a syncope episode?
Now it has never happened again but now heā€™s having these episodes where he will randomly just kinda check out and start panting strangely and becomes fatigued. It takes him anywhere from a few hours to 24hours to fully recover.
We cannot connect it to anything that would be triggering it.
We have had him haltered for heart monitoring and his heart scanned and ecg I think it is multiple times since the original episode.
3 Vets conclusion is his heart is in great shape but the last xray showed fibrosis of the lungs but that vet said itā€™s common at his age and not to worry.
He has also over the last year started panting heavily any time heā€™s even a tiny bit excited which is why I asked about the lungs if they where and issue but the vet wasnā€™t concerned
The vet did prescribe gabapentin but it hits him so hard heā€™s just sedated all day long. So we have kept him on daily CBD which seems to make the events less severe as far as we can tell.
Iā€™m not sure what kind of life being sedated all day long is and the vet said itā€™s no guarantee it will even prevent the events.
Heā€™s always been on high quality dog food but we did recently take him off a fish formula because I was worried about heavy metal toxicity.
Heā€™s currently been on Stella & Chewy's SuperBlends Raw Blend Wholesome Grains Grass-Fed Beef, Beef Liver & Lamb Recipe with Superfoods.
Our dogs never get people food thatā€™s processed only occasionally cooked unseasoned meats or fruits on approved dog lists.
He has had the same reverse osmosis water from our 7 layer filtration system that we drink for the last 5 years. I have recently discovered there are some concerns about RO water and lack of minerals causing issues in some people so we are switching him to standard filtered water to be safe.
Any advice or even if someone can identify the condition so we can figure out a better treatment route.

Here's a classic Reuben sandwich recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Sandwich:
8 slices of rye bread
8 slices of corned beef (about 1 pound)
8 slices of Swiss cheese
1 cup sauerkraut, drained
1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing or Russian dressing
2 tablespoons butter, softened
For the Thousand Island Dressing (if making homemade):
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Apologies if this question/subject has been posted before.
Over here in the UK, Eddie Abbew (former bodybuilder) has been growing massively in his online/social presence.
He massively resonates with the younger generation namely down to the way he delivers his message (google his slogan 'wake the fu** up' to see why), breaking down barriers (able to get through to them where the likes of doctors/medical experts can't) with his advice against the consumption of processed foods/drinks, consumption of sugar etc.
Most of his advice is dietary, a lot of which I agree with, especially with the guidance against 'sugary sh**', and processed foods. But some of this dietary advice recommends things like eating eggs, butter, beef dripping, as well as a number of other things that here in the UK we've long been advised by nutritional and medical experts to eat in moderation due to the saturated fat content and the risks with heart/cardiovascular health etc.
Eddie himself owns up to the fact he did not lead this type of lifestyle when younger, regularly consuming steroids and the wrong food/drink. He now wants people to listen to him so that they don't make the same mistakes he did.
In this day and age, we are blessed with data/information at our fingertips, whether it be from medical or nutritional experts, social media chefs, professional chefs, influencers etc etc etc, this can also be a burden as the sheer amount of sources of this data can be somewhat conflicting and therefore lead to information overload. Iā€™m looking for ideas for fixing bland boiled roast beef using an air fryer. Iā€™m thinking of wrapping it in foil with garlic Parmesan wing sauce and cooking it for like 5 at 400 and then unwrapping it and going for another 5 at maybe 325 to get some browning action. Suggestions extremely appreciated.
Some details for the curious: my husband isnā€™t a good cook. Last night he attempted a roast only he didnā€™t brown it or season it, and he left it covered the whole time so itā€™s more like he boiled or steamed it. The only thing it really has going for it is that itā€™s not dry and itā€™s very rare. I work nights, I overslept today and on my way out the door I grabbed the leftover roast by accident. I have access to an air fryer, a microwave, some seasonings, and some condiments, the most appropriate sounding is the wing sauce. Help? Edited to add: he says he did season it. Salt and pepper when it was on the cutting board, and then he poured a quart of water over it and dropped in a chicken bouillon cube and a bay leaf. Poor guy was using a recipe that was more guideline than instructions, it said season to taste and told him to use your preferred liquid. Sigh.

Iā€™m generally a whiskey drink and I prefer a good smoky glass of whiskey neat either by itself or with a cigar.
For cognac Iā€™m hoping for something with ā€œsweeterā€ notes, something like caramel for example. Coming from whiskey I like crown as a staple for example, but will only drink the base variety. I honestly hate when I see apple crown or vanilla crown; it feels like Iā€™m looking at vanilla vodka or some other gimmick.
I want something with sweeter notes, but I still want to feel like Iā€™m drinking cognac and not a cocktail.
This has always been my approach with whiskey. So, does anyone have any recommendations I can look at for cognac?
Additionally, Iā€™ll be doing a beef Wellington recipe this weekend with a red wine on the side. The recipe calls for cognac, just a touch. Iā€™m willing to spend in the ballpark of 100-125$ as thatā€™s what I spend on my higher shelf bottles of whiskey (barring a rare exception). So please take all this into consideration.

First post in the community hope you enjoy!
Ingredients: Gold potatoes, kale, garlic, ground beef, yellow onion, eggs, green bell pepper, tortillas, olive oil Seasonings: garlic powder, salt, chili powder, black pepper, oregano, soy sauce, sesame oil
Steps: Started off by finely chopping around 6 potatoes warming them in microwave for 3 minutes to soften then stiring them in the pan with olive oil routinely covering the pan and stiring till their cooked (I tasted to tell). I then finely chopped 1 yellow onion and cooked in a pot with oil for a few minutes. I would then add the beef (2 lb) and stir around till it was brown adding garlic powder, salt, chili powder, and black pepper. Washing and using the same pot i finely chopped 8 cloves of garlic and cooked them in a few table spoons of olive oil for a few minutes before adding my kale and chopped bell peppers. I then added soy sauce and sesame oil to the mixture 5 minutes in and cooked till everything condensed. I then take out my tortillas and colby jack cheese to assemble the burritos to freeze. This recipe makes around 30 burritos.

My fiancƩ does not like beans, and has not liked them for pretty much the entire time I've known her. Her two main complaints are: (1) the texture, and (2) that they taste 'metallic.'
Here's the thing though: I don't think she doesn't like beans, I just think that the way her mother cooked them when she was younger made her not like them. My guess is that she was cooking them by dumping a can of beans directly into a pot and putting them on the stove, which would create an odd texture and metallic taste. I've discovered this about other foods in the past, including (but not limited to):
Over time, I've re-introduced these foods to her made properly, and she has liked them - I'm hoping to do the same here, because I have been going insane trying to create recipes that don't incorporate beans.
So, my goal is to make something with beans in it where beans are a tangential factor and not the main 'thing' on the plate. My initial thought was something like rice/beans paired with some type of meat, but that seems like it might be a dive in the deep-end for these purposes. Any recommendations or suggestions? I worked in restaurants for a while, so complexity isn't a big issue.
Disclaimer - My fiancƩ said that to post this I had to include an 'irrational' dislike of mine: I prefer square raviolis to round ones.
Edit: I mean pretty much anything that is not a green bean. Black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, etc. Interestingly, she loves edamame both at restaurants and when I've made it.
