2024.05.13 07:54 atalba What will Bay FC's Roster Look Like in 2 Years; 2026?

I ask this question because it takes a while to build a squad of players that fit together and play the way the manager hopes to be able to play. More importantly, the GM signs the players; is responsible for the draft; makes the trades/transfers; and sets out a strategy for the club to pursue. American sports try and give expansion clubs and losing clubs to build from the draft, but it takes time.
As I've posted before, Lucy Rushton is the GM with a stated mission to play, in her words, like "Barcelona." That's not Montoya's statement. In fact, he doesn't have enough players that can play in tight spaces; nor forwards that are known to play well together in a combining effort. Oshoala and Kundananji are the type of forwards that need to get behind the defenders, using their speed. Rushton has very little experience in the women's game, as she came from the MLS, but has the pedigree and academics to be a football executive. She doesn't have experience with the American pool of players, and appears to not have a grip of European players.
As a reference, here's both Angel City's and San Diego Wave's inaugural 2022 opening day rosters:
Forwards: Simone Charley, Jun Endo, Tyler Lussi, Christen Press, and Jasmyne Spencer. Midfielders: Hope Breslin, Katie Cousins, Stefany Ferrer Van Ginkel, Savannah McCaskill, Lily Nabet, Cari Roccaro, Miri Taylor, and Dani Weatherholt.
The defenders: Vanessa Gilles, Sarah Gorden, Madison Hammond, Paige Nielsen, Ali Riley, Allyson Swaby, M.A. Vignola, Megan Reid. The goalkeepers: DiDi Haračić, Brittany Isenhour, and Maia Perez. The coaching staff: Head Coach Freya Coombe, Assistant Head Coach and Performance Director Robert Udberg, and Head of Goalkeeping Coach Daniel Ball.
Forwards: Alex Morgan; Amirah Ali; Jodie Taylor; Katie Johnson; Makenzy Doniak; Marleen Schimmer; Sofia Jakobsson.
Defenders: Abby Dahlkemper; Tegan McGrady; Christen Westphal; Kaleigh Riehl; Kayla Bruster; Mia Gyau; Naomi Girma; Taylor Hansen.
Midfielders: Belle Briede; Emily van Egmond; Kelsey Turnbow; Kristen McNabb; Sydney Pulver; Taylor Kornieck; Taylor Porter.
If ACFC is lucky, they might lose another 5 or 6 players by the beginning of next season. The Wave might lose another 4 or 5 players as well.
This is how things go. Give the Bay FC a chance to build out their roster and compete for the playoffs. How many of our original players do you think will be on the roster opening day 2026? Will Rushton still be the GM?

2024.04.30 15:45 Regnisyak1 The Amazing Race 21 - A Review!

Time for a new season! First, here is my review for TAR 20!
Second, polls! Here is TAR 21, the masterlist with the links to the polls, and the leaderboard.
TAR 21 was a great season, with a very strong narrative all season, group dynamics, interesting teams, and an all-around solid route and roadblocks, that created a season of underdogs, villains, and Chippendales. TAR 21 gave me a lot of Survivor: Vanuatu energy too, with Chris being like Josh and Brent, Twila being like the Chippendales, and Ami being like Natalie and Nadiya. Definitely not the same story, but I see certain threads in their storylines that were interesting to me.
There were a myriad of tasks that varied with difficulty, and I think was a pretty good blend of physical, luck, mental, and all-around skill-level tasks. Some of my favorites this season were the synchronized swimming task, the dog chow task (I love Beagles), the hasma egg-eating dessert challenge, pencils down, and a few more. I wouldn't necessarily call them memorable by any stretch, but they were fun overall and I was never bored watching people do tasks like the last few seasons. I also found the twists to be used in some dramatic ways this season, which actually led to some interesting developments. All involving Abbie and Ryan, the double u-turn debacle with the Twinnies and Chippendales was a mess, but also their double-the-money stipulation was an interesting factor to the rest of the season.
Anyway, I don't really have any criticisms for this season! The top 6 was really strong (I think TAR 14 was better, and I see the argument for TAR 2, TAR 5 and TAR 3 all being stronger). So with that said, let's begin a discussion of the season... by starting with a team I hate.
  1. Gary and Will (0/10) - The moment I laid eyes on these two, I moved them to my bottom 3. Pathetic, whiny, annoying, and clearly not having any fun whatsoever on the season, watching them suck time out of the episodes was boring. Thankfully, they weren't dominating, but I am a very anti-superfan on TV shows, and I think they are the most clear example of people being obsessed with race. Their saying it was the best experience of their lives was laughable due to how sour and serious they were the entire season, and they really lacked any charisma to be rootable at all, and I was really glad they got out in 8th.
  2. Caitlin and Brittany (2/10) - I was so excited to see someone from St. Louis finally on the show (btw which high school did y'all go to?) but these two were just irrelevant early boots that really didn't contribute at all. I do find it funny that their only character trait was yelling at cab drivers, but truly these two did not really add or subtract anything from the season.
  3. Rob and Sheila (2/10) - If you do anything about my Survivor takes, it should be that Panama is my favorite season of any RTV show ever, and the fact that Rob Scheer is Tina Scheer's (the first boot of Survivor: Panama) brother, means that they inherently get some bonus points. That being said, their ending was really rushed, and I never really understood why they fell down the ranks so much. RIP Sheila too.
  4. Amy and Daniel (5/10) - I think they could have been a little bit more interesting if the season progressed, which is why I am giving them a little bit more leeway with my score. Their giving up of the money by accident to Abbie and Ryan was quite interesting, and their getting lost beyond no return was a little heartbreaking.
  5. Rob and Kelley (6/10) - Monster Truck Drivers solely gets them this high in my rankings. I think they were a solid married couple on the season, and they were very unique looking, being able to demolish some tasks that they were made for like the cars. But otherwise, they were mostly ok, but nothing too special in particular.
  6. Trey and Lexi (7/10) - It is always refreshing to see a couple team together on the race, and one that especially works really well with one another. While I wouldn't call them the most interesting team, they played a role with the alliances on the season in getting out Abbie and Ryan, and also were necessary for Natalie and Nadiya to be good. I value people who play strong roles, and Trey and Lexi did that.
  7. Abba and James (8/10) - Their end was heartbreaking, with them losing their passport in Russia. They were allowed to race again, but it was depressing because they knew that their time was ending. It was quite symbolic given what we learned about James and his father too, and there was a mirror. Long Hair, Don't Care also played a specific way where they didn't really communicate with anyone, which I think was interesting given the context of how strong alliances were this season.
  8. Josh and Brent (8/10) - Josh and Brent are interesting characters, and I think objectively they have one of the best stories on race, with them fighting against the alliance and winning against all odds. But in general, I have never been a huge fan of the underdog story on any show, and I think they are a clear example of that. Overall though, they were fun at points (they also grated my nerves slightly at other points, but it's not a big deal), and I think their endgame performance was stellar, especially against the twinnies, but I also got tired of them constantly mentioning that they owned a farm.
  9. Abbie and Ryan (9/10) - I love a good old witch hunt on TAR (shout out to Derek and Drew), and I think Abbie and Ryan were fun victims of that. They were already put with a target on their back at the beginning with them winning two million dollars. They continued to not excel as they want, and I think it was really interesting how they kept losing their desire to win over time because they were not able to beat Rachel and Dave's previous record of the season. That culminates in them getting thrown into the back of the pack with Josh and Brent, where they create an unsuspecting partnership with one another, and manage to sneak by another leg with Abba and James and their passport issues. It culminates however to people believing their first perceptions, and into that messy u-turn with the other players on the season, ultimately putting the final nail in their coffin. Overall, they were a very likable team, and their downfall too at the hands of the Twinnies and Texas, people they called stupid all season, was really fun to watch.
  10. Jaymes and James (9/10) - These two were great, and we had a firm reason as to why they were racing, with Jaymes wanting to help his dad out, and James wants to help his mother out with her life. They eventually did get help with the cars they won, but watching them lose the million dollars to the underdogs of the season was really rough to watch, especially after seeing them U-Turn someone and worried about the loss of friendship. Ultimately, that is where I think I take a point off because I think their winning would be more narratively satisfying than the Beekman Boys. While that is an issue, the Chippendales were effortlessly entertaining, and Jaymes might have one of the smoothest voices ever for narrating. Like I was sweeter no matter what they were talking about.
  11. Natalie and Nadiya 1.0 (10/10) - First, I love Natalie Anderson on Survivor, and she is in my Top 20 alone from that, so I was expecting a lot with the Twinnies and they delivered. They were these incredible villains this season, concocting the U-Turn play against their enemies Matt and Abbie and stealing James and Abba's money. But their downfall was actually glorious in the last few episodes, in which they quickly began to have severe communication issues with each other, problems with driving, and their attitude toward the Beekmans took a new high. The sparring between them at the Dog Chow challenge became instantly iconic, and the term 'evil gays' shook me to my core. Great villains, endlessly entertaining, and overall added a lot of fun conflict to the season, even after they kept yelling TWINNIES! every leg in a comical way.
Season Ranking: 9/10 - OVerall a fun story with a strong story, though I don't think it was as narratively satisfying as it could have been. Nothing is adamantly wrong with this season, and it by far as one of the strongest casts so far.
Four episodes into TAR 22! It is... interesting so far, I think some of the teams are a little bit annoying though and that is definitely taking its toll on me so far.

2024.04.27 22:45 Chocolate_Donuts A story I wrote when I was probably 12 about a secret agent who has to capture bad guys in Magic Mountain (I had never been to Magic Mountain but I wanted to go so badly)

Since it is kind of long, if you want to skip to the part with rollercoaster action, I have added a note to indicate where you can start reading.
---------
Hi. My name is Abby, and I’m fourteen years old. But my friends call me Chloe. It may seem like a strange nickname, but it’s not a nickname at all. My friends actually think my name is Chloe, because that’s what I told them my name was. I’m called many different things. My family calls me Abby. My friends call me Chloe. And the public, news, and media call me Agent Abby.
I come from a family of secret agents.
Agent Abby’s Secret Fear
Yep. My family is a family of secret agents, and I’m one too. But no one knows it, not even my friends. I really wish I could tell them, but my family won’t let me. If they find out, then they’ll know that the rest of my family are also agents, and if one of them tells... It could get bad. So they think that I’m Chloe, the girl with curly brown hair (It’s actually red, but I use a washable hair dye to color it brown when I’m pretending to be Chloe) who’s homeschooled and isn’t afraid of anything. You could technically say I’m homeschooled, because I’m schooled at home, even if I’m not learning the same things as other kids. But the part about me not being afraid of anything is wrong. I do get afraid! I get very afraid! I’m very brave, but I still get scared. I just know how to stay calm when I’m scared. It’s part of homeschooling secret-agent style. You have to learn how to be calm in scary situations. If you get cornered by criminals, you need to be able to think. You can’t freak out. But, the public thinks that I’m “AGENT ABBY, WHO CHASES DOWN CRIMINALS WHILE RIDING A SUPER-BIKE AT 60 MPH AND DOESN’T FEEL AN OUNCE OF FEAR!”
But even though I can stay calm in most situations, there is one thing that I just can’t handle. Roller coasters. They terrify me! You’re zipping around at high speeds, going upside down, and you have zero control! And that is exactly why I’m trying not to freak out right now! I’m trying to stay calm, but it’s very hard. I’ve been chasing some criminals who have just escaped from jail. I caught them a while ago, but now they’ve escaped. They’re driving a car, but I’m riding my electric bike (Or “super-bike, as the public calls it), which is like a combination of a motorcycle and a high-tech bike. Only now did I just realize that this whole time the’ve been leading me to SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN, THE “THRILL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!” According to by best friends, Mandy and Brittany, this amusement park has nineteen roller coasters. They say that this place has more coasters than any other park in the world, and I don’t doubt them for a second! First of all, they’re coaster enthusiasts, so they know their stuff. Second of all, nineteen coasters is a lot of coasters!
Somehow these criminals found out about my fear of roller coasters, but I don’t know how! But I’ll have to find out AFTER I catch them. Right now I have to focus on staying calm, because I guess I’m about to pay a visit to Six Flags Magic Mountain. I know that these criminals are hoping that I’ll be too nervous to enter the park, but I’m not scared of just being around coasters. As long as I don’t have to ride them, I’ll be fine.
The criminals exit the freeway, and I follow them. They park right in front of the entrance to the amusement park (And not in a parking spot), and run to the entrance. They push people who are waiting in line to enter out of the way. The workers letting people in try to stop them, but fail. One of the workers calls security. I need to catch up to the criminals fast, but I don’t want to push people out of the way. But luckily, I have another way to enter the park. You see, when I’m not chasing down criminals, I love making cool gadgets. Especially when it involves my electric bike. I press a red button on the bike and it activates a built-in jetpack. The people waiting in line see me and look in shock. Some people scream when they see the flames coming out of the back of my bike, thinking that it has caught on fire. One person recognizes me from the news and cries, “Agent Abby!”
My bike starts to lift into the air, and then rises faster and faster, soaring over the entrance. Everyone looks up and watches in disbelief. Some people scream, terrified. I hear little kids cheering, thinking it’s awesome (Well, it is!). But then I remember that I didn’t finish making the jetpack, and that it only lasts for about ten seconds. I also remember that I don’t know how to land. What do I do? What do I do?! The bike is starting to descend, and I don’t know how to land! What should I do when it hits the ground!? Maybe I should keep driving forward, because that’s what airplanes do when they land. Yeah, that should work. At least it’s worth a shot. The ground is getting closer. People run out of the way, screaming. The bike hits the ground, and zooms forward! Everything is a blur, I’m going way faster than I ever have before! The front wheel hits a crack in the ground, and the bike lurches forward, fully on the front wheel. The bike spins and spins in circles, still only on the front wheel. I scream, holding onto the handles tighter than I ever held on before. I close my eyes, about to crash, and... CRASH!
I open my eyes. I’m on my side, and I don’t think I’m hurt. I’ve been wearing a helmet, so my head’s fine, and my family’s secret agent uniforms are very protective. I stand up, and brush some dirt off my clothes. I look at my bicycle. The electric bike was not as lucky as I was. It’s destroyed. I may be able to get it working again when I get back home, but it’s definitely not ridable now. I’m about to go chase to criminals on foot when I realize I’m surrounded by people, “Agent Abby, are you ok?” “Agent Abby, are you hurt?” “I saw you on the news last week, Agent Abby!” “Agent Abby, how did you get your super-bike to fly like that?”
“Agent Abby, is that really you!?”
I look to see who said that, and I try very hard not to gasp. The girl who said it looks about my age, with long black hair in a braid. The girl standing next to her is also my age and has short blonde hair. Mandy and Brittany. I need to go before the criminals get away, and before my best friends realize that Abby and Chloe are the same person! I say, “I’m sorry, but I can’t answer all of your questions. There are criminals in this park, and I need to stop them. All of you need to leave, now!”
I run in the direction I saw the criminals head in before, just as the security guards arrive. Everyone is panicking, “Security, there are criminals in the park!,” people yell.
As I’m running away, I hear Brittany ask Mandy, “Does Agent Abby look familiar to you?”
I need to catch these criminals and leave fast.
(Rollercoaster action starts here!)
While the security guards work on evacuating the place, I head towards an area of the park called “Screampunk District.” A large crowd is running from the station of a large blue and orange coaster, with a train going up the lift hill. I see the criminals riding it (They’re the only ones who are, because everyone else is running away), smiling at me menacingly. They know that I can’t catch them while they’re riding it. But I can’t let them get away. I know these criminals probably think that riding the coaster to get away from me is genius, but they really didn’t think it through well. The train they’re in is going to come back to the station eventually, with them in it. They can’t jump off in the middle of the ride. Even if they could do it safely, (Which they can’t) the restraints would keep them in. So all I have to do if wait for the train to come back to the station, and catch the them!
I run through the coaster’s queuing line (I see that the ride’s name is “Scream”), which is empty. When I get to the station, I see the ride operator is bound and gagged. I climb over the gates that keep riders from walking on the track, and then I jump over the rails to the other side. I untie and remove the gag from the operator, “Are you hurt?,” I ask him.
“No, but I refused to let them escape using the ride, because I knew they were criminals. They then tied and gagged me, and started the ride themselves.” he said.
“I’m Agent Abby, and I’m stopping these criminals. The park is being evacuated, and you need to leave!”
“Thank you for saving me, but please make sure you stay safe, too,” the operator says before he leaves.
Before long, the train arrives, with the criminals in it. I leap into one of cars, trying to catch them, but they get out of the way. This causes me to fall. Taking advantage of this, the criminals run out of the station. One of them accidentally bumps into a button on the operation machine, causing the train to start the ride. NOOOO!! I try to get out of the train, but it’s too late. It has already left the station, and is starting to go up the lift hill. I really, really, really, really don’t want to ride a roller coaster. Much less one named “Scream,” which I can tell goes upside-down a lot. There has to be another way! I’m terrified, my heart is beating fast, and worst of all, the restraints are locked above the seats. Riders are supposed to pull them down before the ride starts, but I didn’t plan on riding it, and they instantly locked in place when the train left the station.
Then I remember. I have a parachute inside my outfit! If I pull a string, it will be released. I start forming a plan. Once the train reaches the top of the lift hill, I’ll jump off and release the parachute. I see the direction that the criminals are running in, and there’s a strong wind that’s blowing in the same direction. It should blow me that way fast enough to where I can catch up to them. The train reaches the top of the lift hill. I jump off, and release the parachute. The wind quickly blows me towards the criminals. One of them turns and gasps.
Just as I’m about to get close enough to catch them, the wind changes, blowing me to the right. I pass by a tree, and it rips my parachute. I then fall into a lake with small fountains. It’s not that deep, and I instantly hit the muddy bottom. I get back up, and am instantly sprayed in the face by the fountains. I hear laughing, and I turn around. It’s the criminals, of course. I scowl at them. I step out of the area with the fountains, and see another roller coaster. Specifically, the vertical loop part. Just great. I try to get out of the fountain, but the water gives a lot of resistance. When I finally get out of the fountain, I realize that I’m soaking wet, and my whole body is covered in mud. Especially my hair. I’m definitely going to need to shower after all of this.
But I have to catch the criminals first. I see that they are running towards the park’s exit, and are going to try to escape. But they won’t, not if I can help it. I run after them. One of them sees that I’m chasing them, and says something to the others, but I don’t hear them. They turn, and start running to… You guessed it! ANOTHER ROLLER COASTER!!! But not just any roller coaster. Mandy and Brittany have told me all about it. It’s X2, the CRAZIEST, most INSANE roller coaster in the park! Apparently, the seats on the train can rotate on a 360 degree axis! Mandy and Brittany told me that when you go down the big drop, the seats rotate in a way that you go down face-forward!
I run after the criminals all through the queuing area, and into the station. They’re already seated on the train, with the restrains on. One of them is holding a long stick that they must have got from a tree. She’s holding it from her seat, but it long enough to be held above the control panel. The ride operator must have already left the park. All of the criminals are staring at me wickedly, “There’s one more of us that you never caught. He’s flying a jet to this park at this very moment, and will be here in approximately one minute to pick us up. You can either ride this coaster and try to catch us, or you can chicken out and let us get away! Your little ‘trick’ of waiting for the train to come back to the station won’t work this time, because we’ll be long gone before the train comes back. The choice is yours,” one of them says.
The criminal with the stick uses it to click the button that starts the train. The train is out of the station before I have time to think. I take a deep breath, and think this through. This may be a trap. Maybe they want to trick me into riding this, and it’ll freak me out so much that I won’t be able to chase them properly? Or maybe there really is a jet on it’s way here to pick them up. I leave the station and look into the sky. I see a small speck, and it looks like a jet. So it’s true. I either ride X2, or let them get away. And I’m not letting them get away.
I run out of the queuing area, and towards X2’s big drop. I see the train starting to go up the lift. The coaster is surrounded by a fence, which I climb over. I walk up to the drop’s supports. I take a big breath, and start to climb up the supports. Climbing supports is a lot harder than climbing ladders. The poles holding the coaster up are far apart from each other, and some of them are slanted diagonally. I hear sirens, meaning the police must have arrived. When I finally reach the top, I see the train is almost here. I jump on top of it before it bumps into me. I quickly crawl from seat to seat until I’m in the seat right behind the criminals. I (fake) clear my throat loudly so they hear me. They all turn and look at me with shocked faces. The one that told me the whole “ride the coaster or we escape” speech says, “I was sure she’d be too scared to chase us…”
I feel the train lurch up, and my stomach drops. Before I climbed up here, I remember looking to see how far up the hill the train was. I also remember seeing that the coaster does a little hump before it drops. That was the hump. And now…
The seat rotates forward and plummets down a vertical drop (Or, almost-vertical drop, according to Mandy and Brittany). I feel like my stomach is still back at the lift hill when I realize that the restraint that I should be wearing is locked above the seat. I hold onto the seat for dear life as the train goes down, and it flips backwards once it reaches the bottom of the drop. I can’t even think as we go through several twists and flips. I hear the criminals screaming, but I’m screaming way louder.
I hear a sound, like a plane. I don’t even bother thinking about what it is. I need to focus all of my concentration on not falling off of X2. I honestly don’t know how I haven’t fallen off already. Then I hear a sound, sort of a sizzle, no, more like a “SSSSSST.” The ride instantly starts to slow down, and the seats rotate to where we are rite-side up. The train quickly comes to a complete stop. I look up and see a black jet. Of course! It must be the man the criminals were talking about, who has come to pick them up. A wire is hanging out of the jet, and is connected to a small gadget, which is connected to our train. It must be what stopped the coaster. A small door opens up out of the bottom of the jet, and a rope is released for the criminals to climb. They are going to escape! I’m dangling from one of the train’s seats, but I have to stop them! I desperately try to pull myself up onto the seat, but it’s very hard. The only thing beneath my feet is air. I have nothing to push myself up. I try to grab the rope to pull myself up, but can’t reach it from under the train. The criminals climb their way towards the rope. One of them grabs it, and sees me hanging onto the train, “I thought you would have fallen off this thing by now! But it doesn’t matter. You can’t stop us by dangling off a coaster train!”
All of criminals snicker. One by one, they grab the rope and climb up, and eventually go through the jet’s trapdoor. I swing one of my legs onto the train, and then get the other one on. I then use my arms and legs to pull myself up onto the train. I look through the trapdoor in the train, and I can barely hear someone say, “Pull the rope back up.”
I grab onto the rope right before it pulls up, meaning it takes me with it when it goes back inside the jet. But, it wasn’t supposed to pull people up like this. The rope gets pulled up slower than when it was released, and is a little glitchy. One of the criminals looks through the trapdoor to see why the rope is going so slow, sees me, and cries, “YOU LITTLE…!”
When I go through the trapdoor and into the jet, all of the criminals look furious. Except for the man flying the jet. He looks confused. I run to the front of the jet and push him off the seat. I quickly sit down and buckle before the other criminals can get to me, and I start flying the jet to Six Flags Magic Mountain’s entrance, where the police are. I know most 14-year-olds don’t know how to fly jets, but this is one way secret agent homeschooling is different from normal homeschooling. You learn how to fly jets. The criminal who was flying the jet before tries to push me off the seat. But, the seat buckle is holding me in place. Also, I’m very strong and am holding onto the controls very tight. I’m assuming this is how I didn't fall off of X2, because I was holding on very tight then, too. One of the other criminals starts trying to pull me off the seat, too. The criminals who aren’t trying to stop me from flying the jet are in a panic. Everyone knows that if I land the jet where the police are, the police will be able to arrest them.
I’m able to land the jet. I instantly click a button the opens the doors, and the police come in. The criminals try to get away, but they end up being arrested. As they’re being taken off the jet, I hear two of them mumbling an argument, “I told you your plan wouldn’t work!”
“Sticking a small microphone on her outfit before we were arrested the first time was a great idea! It would have worked, except for the fact that you let her push you off the seat. Why weren’t you wearing a seat belt?!”
“I was wearing a seat belt! She clicked the button that took it off! You should have made the microphone waterproof! We could only listen for about ten minutes before it broke…! ”
So that’s how they found out about my fear of roller coasters! They secretly stuck a microphone on my clothes before I arrested them for the first time! I remember later that day, my older sister Annie was telling me about how her friend (Who knows her as Abagail) was going on a vacation to New Jersey, and was planning on going to Six Flags Great Adventure while she was there. I told her that she would never get me to go there, I was way to scared of roller coasters, and that my best friends had told me that the world’s tallest roller coaster was there. The criminals must have heard me say that, and realized that I had a fear of coasters!
When I exit the jet, everyone gets excited, “It’s Agent Abby!” “You saved us again!” “You caught the criminals!” “Was that you I saw hanging off of X2?!”
I answer everyone’s questions, and news reporters come up to interview me. When the park guests arrive (They were brought to a nearby building when the park was evacuated), things get even more crazy. But then I remember that Mandy and Brittany were some of the park guests, meaning they’re here, and Brittany seemed a little suspicious… I need to go! But when I see Brittany looking at me in shock, I realize it’s too late. She understands everything now. When I landed in the fountain earlier, I got covered in mud. Especially my hair. Making it brown. As in washable hair dye brown!
Eventually, everything goes back to normal. The police leave, the guests are allowed back in the park, and all of the park’s staff members go back to work. The entrance to the park is empty except for three people. Me, and Mandy and Brittany. My friends walk up to me, “Why didn’t you tell us? Why didn’t you tell us that you’re really Agent Abby? Why have you been lying to us for years?” asks Brittany.
“I don’t know whether to be happy that my friend is Agent Abby, or angry that you’ve been lying to us!” says Mandy.
“I’m assuming the rest of your family is secret agents too, and that’s why you always have some excuse for why we can’t come over to your house?,” asks Brittany.
They look at me with well-are-you-going-to-explain looks. I sigh, “I was wrong to lie to you guys. I always wanted to tell you about who I really am. But my family has strict rules about keeping secret identities. If you came to my house, you may have found out who we really are.”
My house looks mostly normal, but there is a secret button that opens a secret door, which allows you to go to the secret agent area. My house has many secret things, “Please forgive me! I’m very sorry. But, now that you know, maybe you can come to my house sometime soon? You just can’t tell anyone else about us being secret agents. If too many people find out, criminals might find out, too. And they might be able to capture us, or worse, capture people close to us. Like you guys. That’s why my family has rules about not telling anyone,” I say.
“We forgive you! And we won’t tell anyone.” says Mandy and Brittany.
“So… Do you want to ride some coasters with us?” asks Mandy.
I laugh, “No thanks! I think I’ve had enough of Magic Mountain for one day! But, maybe we can go to Disneyland together some time?,” I ask.
“Sure!,” my best friends say.
I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, not having to keep this secret from my friends anymore.
Right now I’m in my family’s secret agent car. I called them at the park, and explained that my electric bike was broken, and that I had no way to get home. So they drove out here to pick me up. They made sure that nobody saw them. We put my electric bike in the back, and I’ll fix it when we get back home. I explained to my parents about how Mandy and Brittany know everything now. At first my parents were surprised and shocked, but then they calmed down. They told me about how they don’t like keeping these secrets either, but we have to in order to keep our friends safe. They said that our identities should be safe, as long as no one else finds out, and if Mandy and Brittany don’t tell anyone. I tell them that I trust my friends. My parents say that they do too. They also say that they’re very proud of me, and that I should be proud, too. My parents tell me that those criminals didn’t know who they were messing with. I think about it. My parents are right. Those criminals didn’t know who they were messing with. One of them said themselves that they thought I would rather let them get away than ride X2. I feel brave. Fearless! Well, I still get afraid. Maybe I wasn’t “HANGING OFF OF A ROLLER COASTER OVER 100 FEAT HIGH AND NOT BATTING AN EYE!” like the newspaper will probably say tomorrow, but I still did something bold. Just because you’re afraid doesn’t mean you can’t do something good. In fact, you’re more of a hero if you do something good even if you’re afraid, than if you do something good without having fear.
The end.
Until next time...

San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo: Recap, Highlights and Payouts

The final rodeo of the Texas Swing paid almost $800,000 in 2024 with the inclusion of breakaway roping

BY BRETT NIERENGARTEN
The 2024 San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo marked the conclusion of the Texas Swing and delivered new No. 1s and big risers in the World Standings.

Cooper Cooke Takes Over No. 1 in the World With Dominant Bareback Riding Performance

Cooke was the only roughstock cowboy to win both rounds in San Angelo doing so with matching 88.5-point rides, the first on Korkow Rodeo’s Buffalo Soldier and the second on Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Night Gazer
The win marked Cooke’s first since the Brawley Cattle Call (California) on Nov. 12, but he did make the Finals of the last four Texas Swing Rodeos.
He made $17,070 in San Angelo overtake RodeoHouston Champion Leighton Berry for the No. 1 spot in the PRCA World Standings. Cooke was 3.5 points clear of second place Jacob Lees.

Dylan Hancock Rockets Almost 40 Spots in PRCA World Standings

The 20-year-old entered the weekend No. 51 and completely off the radar of the rodeo world. Flash forward to Friday night and he was the champion of his hometown rodeo and on his way to ranking No. 13 in the PRCA World Standings after all the money was tallied.
Hancock was 7.8 to win the Short Round and claim the Average by four tenths of a second over one of his traveling partners Cole Clemons.
“It means everything (to win this rodeo), that was the coolest thing I’ve ever done right there, to make a great run in front of my home crowd, it was awesome,” he said.

Brooke Eddy Becomes First Ever Breakaway Champion With 2.1-Second Run in Finals

There were a total of 180 ladies vying to be the inaugural San Angelo Breakaway Roping Champion and it was Texas cowgirl Brooke Eddy who got it done with an aggregate time of 7.0 seconds on three.
Eddy won a total of $9,909 in San Angelo. Entering the rodeo, she had banked just $582 on the year and sat No. 238 in the World. By the time the money is counted from the weekend, she will be in the Top 50 of the WPRA World Standings.
“It’s been a trialing couple of years, but I think this is our year,” she said. “This horse means a lot to me...I’m just super thankful for her to come to something this big and do this, it means a lot.”

2024.04.23 12:46 jaegermeister56 Abby and Brittany have separate stomachs! 👀

They have their own stomachs! Does this mean they could be two different kinds of mistings? One a Lurcher and the other a Coinshot? One a rioter and the other a soother? Or whatever other cool combos in a character physically like Brittany and Abby…
Which combo would you like to see? Could they also be separate types of ferrings? They share so much of the same body but they do have separate identities?
A character like them would be fascinating!!

2024.04.19 21:25 pirateslifeisntforme Abby and Brittany has brought out the worst in people

Abby and Brittany are conjoined twins who got famous many years ago.
First of all I wanted to say I have nothing against the twins. They have an interesting story that has captivated millions and it’s quite inspiring. I’ve heard about them for a couple decades. Recently they have been in the news after one of them got married and it’s wholesome news. The problem however is… people and their horrifying discussion on the media and the internet.
In all my years online I’ve never seen such horrifying comments as I’ve seen about these two (even with racism and political debates). It shows how ugly and disgusting people are. There are a few people who will ask nice day to day life questions, but there are so jokes and discussions people don’t need to know. It’s sickening seeing discussions about these two and hardly anyone asks normal questions.
I couldn’t imagine being these two and seeing the horrible jokes and comments they get every day.

2024.04.12 13:27 Charity00 The Amazing Race 21 - Review

I’ve decided to rewatch every Amazing Race and rank them all.
*************************************
SEASON 21 gets a 6/10
*************************************
This season had some very good legs and moments (especially towards the end) but there were many negatives that let it down. Unfortunately this season started off very slow and had very little character development or dynamic teams besides the crazy Twinnies Natalie/Nadiya. A terrible route, very uninspiring challenges, very little self driving (leading to less stress and bickering)….but one of the strongest finishes! Some iconic rivalries at the end, with a fantastic finale and unique winners! So it’s a hard season to rank because it was so good at times, but also dull at times.
*************************************
General Thoughts
- I thought I’d be giving TAR21 a higher ranking but I found the first 6 legs hard to get through - and that is half the season. No big moments or interesting challenges at all here with a few eliminations decided by taxis. There were some wacky Twinnie moments and quotes, but every other team was mostly dull at the start. The locations also felt so similar and more on the poverty side. I do like the poorer countries and the culture shock aspect, but I don’t feel we got any “culture shock” or struggle so it just turned into “visiting a group of places that weren’t that nice to look at”. One of the driest first halves ever! However there were some fantastic legs in the second half.
- Some great rivalries though (but mostly emerged in the 2nd half) - Natalie/Nadiya vs Abbie/Ryan (Abbie making faces behind Natalie/Nadiya and “he’s rude, he’s obnoxious, he’s a tool”). Then there was the Natalie/Nadiya, Trey/Lexi and Jaymes/James alliance against Abbie/Ryan and Josh/Brent. While the alliance knocked out Abbie/Ryan (with a very smart U-Turn strategy), they were eventually beaten by Josh/Brent who they claimed coasted through and would be easy competition. One of the most unique winner stories! This could have gotten a 9 or 10 if the last 6 episodes were the entire season. Likewise, it would have gotten a 3 or 4 if the first 6 episodes were the entire season.
-The cast felt likeable overall but not the most interesting besides Natalie/Nadiya. In fact the cast felt like TAR19 (dull) except TAR21 has the wacky Twinnies thrown in there and were involved in almost every big moment or drama. The other teams didn’t have much substance to them but there was someone for everybody to root for at the end though - you had a sweet couple (Trey/Lexi), the enthusiastic male team (Jaymes/James), the likeable underdogs (Josh/Brent) and the crazy/quirky team (Natalie/Nadiya). There were also reasons to root for Abbie/Ryan, James/Abba, Gary/Will and Amy/Daniel. Not as many gimmicky teams as the last few - Jaymes/James (Chippendales), James/Abba (musicians), Daniel/Amy (amputee/snowboarder) and Josh/Brent (from the Fabulous Beekman Boys). I’d also argue that monster truckers and lumberjacks aren’t common enough so I’ll add Rob/Sheila and Rob/Kelley to gimmicky. Also more older teams than TAR20.
- I personally liked Josh/Brent winning! It’s refreshing seeing underdog winners and they were different from the generic couples and generic male teams that usually win (cough Trey/Lexi cough Jaymes/James). Some felt dissatisfied because they didn’t think Josh/Brent were deserving winners (they were lucky many times, and were almost willing to throw away their race for Abbie/Ryan) but I like the whole “anybody can win” feeling. Probably the worst performing winners in the US seasons though haha I would have also liked the craziness of a Natalie/Nadiya win!
*************************************
Route
- One of the most disappointing routes yet (possibly the worst route besides the Covid seasons and the Family Edition!) No new countries and only THREE continents. Not much variety with Indonesia/Bangladesh/Turkey (5 legs) feeling similar, a lot of Europe legs feeling similar and no cold locations, no tropical locations and no Africa/South America/Australia. Visits like Shanghai (ping pong and the Bund) have been done before, Bangladesh really focused on the poverty with challenges like collecting rats being rather insulting. Amsterdam, Moscow and French chateaus also had that “been there done that” feeling. Spain and Turkey were less visited countries though and Mallorca was a nice visit. The starting line being a bridge in Pasadena is underwhelming (although I’ve given up on iconic starting lines) but I really enjoyed the New York City finish with Coney Island, Little Italy and the UN Building.
- Challenges were not great all season. The worst type of challenges are the ones where teams are just “doing things” without struggling and basically arrive and leave in the same order. TAR21 had a lot of them with not much difficulty. Playing ping pong (too easy), Chinese eating task (no teams struggled), making balloons (easy/boring besides Will having trouble), transport ice/fish (generic boring delivering task), carrying dishes (easy - teams only failed once or twice), dance with mask/frying eggs on head (both tasks impossible to fail), repairing a bus (generic building task), hammer a rod/stuffing a mattress (generic and easy work tasks), construct a scale (boring besides Brent struggling in the heat), getting a Turkish bath (impossible to fail), selling sherbet (boring), unlocking locks in Moscow (boring), getting tips by playing street organ (boring), pole vault switchback (easy in TAR12 and even easier with mostly athletic teams), running around in a bull outfit (easy), plowing French field/preparing dog food (generic and easy work tasks).
- Occasionally they had a decent challenge though that required some skill. Synchronised swimming was difficult and therefore produced some drama (thankfully the library was closed because searching through card catalogues is the most boring challenge they could have come up with). The Russian time zone quiz was also deceptively difficult and therefore provided some fun moments and stress! (Ryan struggling, Jaymes and Lexi laughing and working together, Natalie/Nadiya using their Express Pass) Transporting bamboo poles through congested streets was also fun and chaotic! But good challenges were rare this season! The cast is most important though (preparing dog food was terrible but Josh/Brent and Natalie/Nadiya’s banter made it fun, plus the tennis challenge was more interesting because Josh struggled, but most teams would find it very easy).
- The big twist was “double your money” if the team who won Leg 1 also won the final leg…which was fine but it didn’t help or hurt the season, it was just “there”. They should have spent the extra million dollars on a better route and better challenges haha. 2 Fast Forwards, 2 U-Turns and the Express Pass again. The first time we’ve seen the “burn the u-turn” strategy where an alliance plots to U-turn a team in front of them on purpose so the targeted team cannot use a U-Turn. You also had Gary/Will accidentally U-Turn a team in front of them which was almost a costly mistake. And only 2 legs of self driving this season and less of a navigation focus overall.

Cast Ranking
1.Natalie/Nadiya - the twinnies, the badass Sri Lankans, the Venus and Serena of Sri Lanka, they were fantastic TV! But they were polarising - some fans liked their craziness while others found them loud and annoying. Their huge energy and one liners saved the first half from being utterly terrible (and were basically at the centre of most drama and moments of the season) - Running past clueboxes - “get the clue dummy”, running into cameramen twice, “Third world grand theft auto” and “got VIP service for being brown” but then felt ignored in Russia. Very loud, always screaming “TWINNIE” (and getting locals and children screaming “TWINNIE”). They were catty at times - calling Abbie/Ryan “crazy eyes” and a “tool”, calling Josh/Brent the “gimpy guys” and “evil gays”, and stole money from James/Abba. But insulted themselves just as much though and comfortable laughing at their foolishness and calling one another “Fool”. Never felt too malicious. Also surprisingly strategic and a decent girl team. And NEVER BORING!
  1. Josh/Brent - I’m probably ranking them higher than most fans. Yeah they weren’t super competitive and arguably didn’t try very hard sometimes (honestly should have been eliminated in the synchronised swimming or when they were willing to wait while Abbie/Ryan did their U-Turn). Very laid back, but also likeable and witty, “There are some things the gays are naturally better at and balloon animals are apparently one of them” as well as Josh sharing his past as a drag queen called Aphrodisiac. They had some fun banter with each other (and some old married couple spats), just scraped through each week (mostly due to luck haha) and were one of the best underdog stories against the cocky “Dream Team” alliance. They were actually quite smart though - got the time zone challenge on the 1st try, knew all the Russian leaders who were dressed up, and only team to recognise the Netherlands flag. I usually support older or unfit teams so of course these 2 are a favourite of mine!
  2. Jaymes/James - “The Chippendales” were very fun characters! Jaymes in particular was very loud and charismatic - when wearing the masks, “I must have made out with like 947 Indonesian people today alone, I’m tasting years of culture in my mouth”, “Look at the bottom of the screen right now and read the placement because we ain’t got a clue” and “Check your mattress doesn’t say from Jaymes and James”. Seemed very positive and a fun team to root for, had some fun moments bantering with locals and thinking a Russian sign said “Beyoncé at 8:00” and confusing Leonardo DaVinci with Leonardo Dicaprio haha It was nice how they were doing it for their parents and seeing them grapple with U-Turning Abbie/Ryan. For athletic men, they were very likeable and humble. While they were a good addition, I do prefer teams with more substance so aren’t ranked higher (similar to Gary/Mallory and Amani/Marcus - likeable but not as much depth).
  3. Abbie/Ryan - not necessarily the most interesting couple ever (not usually a fan of competent couples) but I liked their role in this season’s storylines. They were the “threat” team who was targeted at the end (plus potential 2 million dollar winners), had some bad luck with flights and an endearing friendship with Josh/Brent where both teams were willing to throw away the race for one another. I loved their rivalry with the Twinnies where they were sometimes just as sassy back to them. A moment that stands out is Abbie crying with a stranger in the rain knowing they’d likely be eliminated next.
  4. James/Abba - another team who weren’t the most interesting personalities but had some intriguing and tragic storylines - having their passports stolen by a gypsy cab, injury, stepping into raw sewerage, James finding out his father has stage 4 cancer. But they were really likeable and very positive during their mishaps, “Let’s find that cab driver and make him the speed bump!” Given the nickname “Long hair don’t care” for being super laid back. They had some witty comments here and there, a nice friendship and actually performed very well before the passport situation.
  5. Gary/Will - okay as that underdog team who struggled through 4 legs. While they were one of the more rootable teams, they weren’t as charismatic as some of the classic cannon fodder teams like Peggy/Claire, Don/Mary Jean or even a “geeky” team like Dave/Lori or Mark/Bill. They were relatable though as they were super fans and substitute teachers, rather than gimmicky sportspeople or models. They failed at almost everything and only got through because other teams had bad taxis or problems with abacuses haha So had some okay moments in their short stay but not that memorable or interesting honestly.
  6. Trey/Lexi - were just the generic sweet Texan couple who love each other so much “My love for him is at 1000 right now!” They were very likeable and supported one another but I just found them very boring. I’m not a fan of the sweet and perfect couples, in fact my favourite moment is when Lexi hurt her finger in the bull costume and had a minor meltdown. And that was a one off, and I’d actually prefer it if she had multiple meltdowns haha So they were fine but didn’t make a big impact despite making the final 3.
  7. Rob/Kelley - Team Monster Truck were okay as a unique older team - Rob got grumpy with locals “You cost me a million dollars!” He was very cocky about “running our own race” but that often meant they were on the wrong plane or train haha Rob wasn’t that likeable but I thought they had a nice relationship and I don’t mind a team that’s a bit “rough”. We never got to see Rob interact with the Twinnies, which could have been interesting.
  8. Amy/Daniel - they had a strong 1st leg where they helped teams find the abacus, and then those teams beat them to 1st place. They were then unlucky with a cab in leg 2 and had a surprising early elimination. They seemed like a strong, likeable team with Amy powering through as a double amputee…but not sure if they’d be big characters though because they were casted because of her disability rather than their personality. And generally not a fan of “sweet couples” unless they are big characters.
  9. Caitlin/Brittany - another team that were unlucky with a cab driver. They didn’t really do much besides screaming at a taxi before their elimination but could have had meltdown potential later I guess. If you’re an early boot girl team, I’d prefer you to be a disaster honestly while these 2 weren’t too bad actually.
  10. Rob/Sheila - seemed like a very nice couple but pretty forgettable first boots. They lost a footrace to James/Jaymes who were the fittest team in the season and that’s really all. Sad to learn that Sheila passed away only a few years later.

Leg Rankings
1.Leg 11 - France (F4 - Natalie/Nadiya eliminated) - was fantastic with great character moments, drama and storytelling in the picturesque Loire Valley with stunning chateaus and the downfall of the Twinnies. The “Dream Team” vs the underdog Beekmans all running through the chateau with Natalie/Nadiya accusing Josh of faking his injury and Beekman sass “Have fun at the Speed Bump”. Best drama of any leg this season! Challenges are basic but it’s the banter between Twinnies vs Beekmans plus the alliance breaking down. Natalie/Nadiya calling them “evil gays” (after Brent blocked teams) and Josh/Brent trying to frazzle them on purpose. Also the product placement with kicking the trunk open, with Josh/Brent “We’ll get one when we win a million dollars” haha A very exciting ending with teams frantically searching for mushrooms underground, placement shifts and getting lost driving. It does however have “My mother needs a car right now” - obviously Jaymes/James are winning this leg and a car haha
  1. Leg 12 - USA (F3 - Finale) - finishing strong with one of my favourite finales! Not as good as TAR20’s finale but did most things right. The best finales are when every team is together at the final challenge, come from behind placement shifts and an interesting winner’s story - and this one had all that! Remembering hello and goodbye in different languages is one of the toughest finale challenges so far, and I loved how it was set in the UN building, and then underdogs Josh/Brent overtook Trey/Lexi to win. Besides that, they showcased New York City very well (first full finale in New York), loved the cryptic billboard at Coney Island (very simple but caused chaos), the Houdini challenge was a nice simple heights challenge with “getting out of the straight jacket” added in, and delivering pizzas in Little Italy had some difficulties and a small navigation challenge (some old couple bickering between Josh/Brent and incorrect deliveries). It misses #1 because it didn’t have the Twinnie energy or as much conflict but still very tense and exciting!
  2. Leg 8 - Russia (F6 - James/Abba eliminated) - I enjoyed James/Abba’s passport drama (trying to get a replacement passport) and it didn’t feel 100% predictable because of Josh/Brent’s 4 hour penalty with the Detour closing. I liked the unique feel with teams so far apart with no equalisers (it felt there were several different timelines and issues). Also had some great challenges - the “pencils down” quiz was deceptively tough with cocky Ryan doing it 25 times, teams working together and definitely one of the most hilarious judges. The Russian dance was fun (James’ injured ankle, Natalie splitting her pants “MY ASS IS OUT!” haha) and even identifying the Russian leaders was fine “Be careful with vodka and Russian women”. There were also some interesting taxi drivers - the slow and chill driver getting a coffee with Jaymes/James, Lexi getting splashed and the one taking Natalie/Nadiya to McDonalds “No McDonalds we are too fat” hahah It was fun the entire way plus some unique situations. And last ever visit to Russia!
  3. Leg 9 - Netherlands (F5 - Abbie/Ryan eliminated) - another great leg because of the inter-team dynamics. The challenges weren’t great - playing an organ for tips was average (besides Jaymes/James stripping to their chippendale ties) and the pole vaulting “switchback” was very underwhelming (took teams 10 seconds to complete). But great character moments and storylines! Teams were given the Netherlands flag and Natalie/Nadiya were like “bloody France” haha and there’s flight drama (Abbey/Ryan screwed by flights again) and the U-Turn drama - Natalie/Nadiya’s plan to burn the U-turn and Jaymes/James betraying Abbie/Ryan (plus clips of Jaymes doing it for his sick father so you could feel their struggle). Natalie/Nadiya eat 5 herrings for the Fast Forward (would have been better if there was a 2 team battle though), Josh/Brent and Abbie/Ryan bond and decide to work together (not the smartest choice though). Sad ending with Abbie crying in the rain and hugging a generous local. Would be higher with better challenges.
  4. Leg 7 - Russia (F6 - Non elimination) - had a unique feel because of teams being separated by hours because of planes. I like when this happens and teams are able to keep their leads and it feel like a true race. Some good flight drama for a modern season (Abbie/Ryan ignoring other teams, Josh/Brent deciding a flight based on a coin toss, rushing to make connections with Josh/Brent and Abbie/Ryan falling a day behind). We then have the first difficult challenge this season - the synchronised swimming where most teams struggle, especially Josh/Brent. And of course James/Abba’s lost passport and the “To Be Continued” straight after (we basically witnessed a crime and a dark side of travel). Teams also feel less robotic than the first 6 legs with rivalries at the airport as well as some bonding between Abbie/Ryan and Josh/Brent (making a pact with Abbie/Ryan waiting for Josh/Brent). I ranked it lower though because the library task and the locks weren’t that interesting but there were enough good moments around them.
  5. Leg 10 - Spain (F4 - Non elimination) - was a slower leg than those above it but still enjoyable. The main problem was that it felt like an obvious final 4 non-elimination but the teams were either likeable or dynamic throughout it. It was nice seeing Natalie/Nadiya, Jaymes/James and Trey/Lexi relaxing at a Spanish beach together…and saying they’d be the final 3 (but Josh/Brent finally catching up to them). The first self drive leg has Natalie/Nadiya struggling with stick shift and directions (and their fun bickering). The tennis challenge was okay with Trey dominating with his “Andre Agassi headband”, Josh struggling with his ankle and Natalie/Nadiya “the Serena and Venus Williams of Sri Lanka”. Running around as a bull was a silly challenge but they lucked out with Lexi crashing and having a minor meltdown. Fixing the windmill also had some fun moments with a calm Josh/Brent vs a bickering Natalie/Nadiya “Old ass windmill!” Natalie/Nadiya were a mess (and that’s when I like them the best) and a strange headless pit stop greater haha
  6. Leg 5 - Bangladesh (F7 - Non elimination) - these next few legs all feel rather dull with some Twinnie moments being the only interesting elements. Even Josh/Brent aren’t big underdogs except for this episode. This one is just ahead because it at least has some decent moments with teams struggling at the physical tasks. It starts with James finding out his father has cancer. Not saying it’s a good moment but is something different. Brent really struggled to make the scale in the heat, and Jaymes/James collapsed after forgetting some of their bamboo (and not eating properly). Some fun chaos carrying the long bamboo with teams hitting locals, cameramen and everything around! Visually a humorous task! Natalie/Nadiya wanted to beat the “goras” (means white people) “gora #2 Sri Lanka #1” haha and also getting children to yell “TWINNIE!” The start of the Twinnie vs Abbie/Ryan rivalry. But it felt like such a short leg travel wise with almost every task and location taking place within a small part of Dhaka.
  7. Leg 1 - China (F11 - Rob/Sheila eliminated) - the premiere was just okay. Premieres needs to have big memorable challenges and these 3 were not - repelling was boring, ping pong was okay but too easy (after a few fails, the champion was forced to use a pan and then an envelope haha) and eating the frog fallopian tubes seemed too easy for an eating task (nobody struggled besides Rob not using chopsticks). The scramble to look for the abacus on the bund was the best part (plus not knowing what an abacus is), and then a foot race between Jaymes/James and Rob/Sheila. The only team that stood out was Natalie/Nadiya (screaming at one another like crazy during the ping pong) and the other teams were just “doing tasks”. Amy/Daniel help a team who gets 1st and Natalie/Nadiya choose not to help a team. Not a very good introduction to the teams, which was also the case in TAR20. Too much focus on mediocre challenges but not as dull as some other premieres like TAR20 and TAR16. Fitting 4 “tasks” in made it better than those ranked below it.
  8. Leg 3 - Indonesia (F9 - Caitlin/Brittany eliminated) - this was a boring leg besides the tense rickshaw race at the end between Gary/Will and Caitlin/Brittany, and the U-Turn with some plotting on the train. But not the most interesting U-Turn honestly (no betrayals or drama). Balancing the plates wasn’t that great but might have been more chaotic if all teams were together and getting in one another’s way. And the Detour was terrible - frying eggs on the top of your head and walking in the mask were super easy (“How many dudes have had their mouth on this thing?”) Natalie/Nadiya run into the cameramen and argue over wanting to see bow they look in their U-Turn picture haha but nothing else happens and teams just robotically make there way through boring tasks. Caitlin/Brittany have bad luck with drivers and it feels like an underwhelming result. Phil also randomly tells them “We’re going to miss having you on the race” which is a strange thing to say to a team that didn’t leave much of an impression.
  9. Leg 6 - Turkey (F7 - Rob/Kelley eliminated) - once again another boring leg with terrible tasks - selling sherbet was boring, having a bath was basic and boring, the bagels was a generic delivery task (most legs so far have had generic delivery tasks) and the Speed Bump was just buying 2 ice-creams and watching the routine. The Turkish bath should have been the Speed Bump, and the detour be carrying bagels (focus on balancing rather than delivery, and not allow them to hold the bagels) and learn an ice-cream trick instead of just watching it. Some okay transport dramas beforehand though (trains, ferries and visiting the Asian and European sides of Istanbul) and screaming “clear history” when researching flights haha. It did have Natalie/Nadiya taking James/Abba’s money and splitting it with Trey/Lexi “They’re christians so they’ll pray for us!” (plus James/Abba having to beg). But the leg was boring and Rob/Kelley seemed like obvious boots, even though it was a satisfying arrogant downfall.
  10. Leg 4 - Bangladesh (F8 - Gary/Will eliminated) - and ANOTHER boring leg with the only highlight being Natalie/Nadiya yelling “LONG STRONG AND HARD” and annoying everyone. Ryan begging for a “no talking time out” and Abbie putting a gun to her head behind them haha Plus some confusion at the end on the boats with Rob/Kelley taking the wrong ferry and Rob getting angry. I also think collecting rats for a challenge is an offensive way to show off Bangladesh, and Abba stepping into sewerage and commenting about hepatitis. I’m not a fan of generic manual labor tasks like fixing the bus (James “Mine has more crevasse than the Grand Canyon”). It doesn’t have that “exciting race around the world” feeling and watching them “do work” is not fun unless the task is difficult. Pounding the metal/sewing a mattress was also boring. Natalie/Nadiya made it as interesting as possible but they can’t carry the show themselves.
  11. Leg 2 - Indonesia (F10 - Amy/Daniel eliminated) - this episode is actually a contender for one of the worst! Boring challenges, no storylines, nothing interesting happened, dull location and Amy/Daniel were eliminated because of a taxi which felt underwhelming. And even Natalie/Nadiya didn’t do anything this leg besides randomly sticking her head into a water barrell haha We had Rob/Kelley gloat about being in the lead, but are actually on a flight way behind (but then equalised anyway). Riding on the motorbike and racing the bull was “okay as a basic activity” but surely they could have done something more interesting there? Making the balloon art was terrible besides Will struggling like usual (Nadiya being like “I’m ready for a party, but I bet it’s not downing 3 bottles of tequila”). And the Detour was the most generic thing ever - deliver something or sort through something. Teams mostly left in the same order they arrived, so Amy/Daniel couldn’t catch up because the challenges were terrible. Gary/Will’s come from behind didn’t feel earned.
*************************************
Summary
So a very middling first half with dull challenges, little action and underwhelming locations. However some great legs and drama towards the end stops this season from getting a “bad” ranking so I am giving it a 6 which is “good”. Most fans think positively of this season because of the ending and you do finish the season feeling satisfied. There are some top tier legs at the end! It’s similar to TAR15 and TAR4 in that they all had a mixture of weak and good legs, but TAR21 was the most satisfying with a more likeable cast so is ranked just above them. The seasons with a 7 have less weaker legs and I found more enjoyable.
*************************************
So after each season I will place it on a ranking:
1.TAR5 - 10/10
  1. TAR3 - 10/10
  2. TAR12 - 9/10
  3. TAR17 - 9/10
  4. TAR18 - 9/10
  5. TAR2 - 8/10
  6. TAR7 - 8/10
  7. TAR20 - 8/10
  8. TAR11 - 8/10
  9. TAR13 - 8/10
  10. TAR6 - 8/10
  11. TAR10 - 7/10
  12. TAR14 - 7/10
  13. TAR1 - 7/10
  14. TAR9 - 7/10
  15. TAR21 - 6/10
  16. TAR15 - 6/10
  17. TAR4 - 6/10
  18. TAR8 - 6/10
  19. TAR19 - 5/10
