"The Number One Pick" had control for much of the match and kept DGT in check, until DGT made his comeback. Thanks to interference from Masato Kojima and Jordan Angle, DGT manages to defeat "The Number One Pick" with a split-second DDT. The package ends and we open with a 30-second intro highlighting all of the stars of CPWA as The Roots' "BOOM" plays in the background. The intro ends with "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones holding the CPWA Heavyweight Championship belt over his head. Pyro goes off in the arena for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd. Brian Kinsley: We welcome you to CPWA Octane! We are coming to you live from Columbus, Ohio! Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, and we have a packed show for you tonight! It's the go-home show for Fatal Alliance and we got a lot in store. Anthony Harris: We have Jason Reynolds in action, plus a six-woman tag team match and Pretty Boy will be in action. Sir Samuel Stewart: Let's take it to the ring! Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena as "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, along with Brother Julius make their entrance to address the crowd. Lejuan and Brother Julius enter the ring and address the crowd. LeJuan Jones: I was expecting a hero's welcome in my hometown, but instead I'm welcomed to mocking laughter. Devon Gatlin-Tyson had help from Jordan Angle and Masato Kojima. He needed his fellow Olympian and the guy that I will face in the main event at Fatal Alliance for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship. Matter of fact, I want both of you out here now! There is complete silence. LeJuan Jones: What? None of you don't want to show up? How about I go back there and find you myself! Before LeJuan could exit the ring, Masato Kojima rushes through the crowd and enters the ring, attacking Brother Julius. LeJuan sees this and goes to attack Kojima. "The Number One Pick" and Kojima brawl inside the ring as referees and road agents rush in to break up the fight. Kojima slides out of the ring, grabs a kendo stick and whacks Brother Julius with it. LeJuan rushes back in the ring, only for Kojima to attack him with a kendo stick. Kojima leaves. Brian Kinsley: What a way to kickoff Octane. Kojima once again, sending a message to "The Number One Pick." He means business. We cut to the backstage area as we see Devon Gatlin-Tyson being interviewed by Kevin Meyers. DGT expresses how much it meant to defeat "The Number One Pick" in last week's main event. DGT also expresses that he should be next in line to challenge for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship, should LeJuan retain the championship. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL!!! Less Than Jake's "P.S. Shock The World" plays in the background. Announcer: Introducing first, from New Orleans, Louisiana, he is the CPWA Cruiserweight Champion, Jason Reynolds. Men at Work's "Down Under" plays in the arena. Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, from Brisbane, Australia, he is one-half of the Quebec Outback Connection, Wade Parker. Match 1: Jason Reynolds vs. Wade Parker Give Remy LaCroix and especially Owen Benoit-Jericho the assist for interfering on behalf of Wade Parker. It wasn't like Parker needed help, but seeing how much of a problem Reynolds was to OBJ in the past, the members of The Commonwealth did what was needed to give Parker the win after he pulled off a tornado DDT. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, Parker, LaCroix, and OBJ continue their assault on Reynolds. Suddenly, Sharnaz Khan, Cedric Jordan, and CPWA Cruiserweight Champion Deron "Ron" Jordan rushed to the ring to even the odds for Reynolds, causing Parker, LaCroix, and OBJ to flee the ring. We cut to a recap of Big Angela's debut match a few weeks ago on Octane. The recap ends and we cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. NUMP feat. Jessica Chanel's "I'm So Filipino" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Manila, Philippines, she is Kathy Reyes. Megan Thee Stallion's "Captain Hook" plays in the arena. Announcer: And her opponent, representing Number One Enterprises, accompanied to the ring by Kiara Thompson, from Newark, New Jersey, she is Big Angela Match 2: Kathy Reyes vs. Big Angela A somewhat decent match, if it didn't have Kiara Thompson constantly interfering and distracting the referee. As much as Kathy Reyes kept fighting, it wasn't enough to take down Big Angela, who delivered a military press slam and a body splash off the top rope to get the win. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to a graphic hyping up a six-woman tag team match between "Otaku Girl86" Michelle Lennox, Michelle Bluefeather, and Ferial Kapoor taking on Priscilla Pierce, Cynthia Steele, and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez. We then cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Marco Rocha and Pretty Boy. We then see a graphic hyping up a match between Jake Odenkirk and Zechariah Odenkirk. ***Commercial Break*** We come back from commercial break and we see members of Number One Enterprises checking on a prone Brother Julius. LeJuan tells the rest of Number One Enterprises to put aside their petty infighting and focus on going after Masato Kojima and if possible, Jordan Angle. General Wade, Guerrilla God, Ivan Markov, and Klaus Muller agree and set off to find Kojima. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he is Jake Odenkirk Blake Shelton's "Good Ole Boys" plays in the arena. Announcer: And his opponent, from the great state of Tennessee, Zechariah Newton. Match 3: Jake Odenkirk vs. Zechariah Newton This hoss fight felt more like a bar-room brawl, considering how the two big men were throwing more fists and forearms than they were exchanging wrist locks and suplexes. It also didn't help that Roy Newton interfered in the match for Zechariah and wasn't thrown out, but yet when William interfered to even the odds, he would be thrown out by the referee. This led to Zechariah using brass knuckles, thanks to Roy, to get the win. 2 out of 5 stars. We cut to a recap highlighting the feud between the team of Michelle Bluefeather and Ferial Kapoor against Cynthia Steele and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez, which lasts for a minute. The recap ends and we cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is a six-woman tag team match scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Beastie Boys' "Intergalactic" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Chicago, Illinois, she is "Otaku Girl 86" Michelle Lennox. Mattmac feat. Dakota Bear and Okema's Rez play in the arena. Announcer: Her tag team partners, introducing first, from Phoenix, Arizona, she is Michelle Bluefeather. Panjabi MC's "Jogi" plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from Bollywood, she is Ferial Kapoor. Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on G String plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from the posh hills of the Hamptons, she is Priscilla Pierce. Bananarama's "Venus" plays in the arena. Announcer: Her tag team partners, introducing first, from Los Angeles, California, she is one-half of the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, Cynthia Steele DaniLeigh Ft. Fivio Foreign "Dominican Mami" plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she is one-half of the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez. Match 4: "Otaku Girl 86" Michelle Lennox, Michelle Bluefeather, and Ferial Kapoor vs. Priscilla Pierce, Cynthia Steele, and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez A very decent trios match but the finish was very screwy as Lennox had Priscilla Pierce pinned, but the referee was unconscious. Another referee would slide in after Cynthia Steele whacked Lennox with a steel chair. This allowed Steele to hit Twisted Steel on Lennox to get the win. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to the backstage area and we see Pretty Boy beating up Marco Rocha. Referees and road agents rush in to stop the fight, but Pretty Boy knocks them all down and continues beating up Rocha as Octane goes into a commercial break. ***Commercial break*** We come back from commercial break and we see Pretty Boy and Marco Rocha fighting their way to the ring. Once inside, the fight continues, but Pretty Boy looks underneath the ring and takes out several chairs, kendo sticks, sledgehammers, trash cans, and stop signs, throwing them in the ring. Match 5: Marco Rocha vs. Pretty Boy Pretty Boy dominated for much of this match, showing absolutely no mercy. It looked like Pretty Boy was going to mercilessly end the match but "Florida Man" Gary Strange made his surprise return as he delivered a chair shot to Pretty Boy, followed by hitting him with a WTF (Welcome to Florida) and covering Rocha over the prone Pretty Boy for him to get the win. FIVE STARS!!!!! We cut to a graphic hyping up the main event between The Commonwealth's Owen Benoit-Jericho and Kelly Lawton taking on The Olympians' Ryan Phelps and Devon Gatlin-Tyson. ***Commercial Break*** Brian Kinsley: This Saturday, CPWA will be in Detroit for Fatal Alliance and next Wednesday, we'll be in Indianapolis for Octane. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: Our main event is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL!!! Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Commonwealth, they are Owen Benoit-Jericho and Kelly Lawton. Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: And their opponents, representing The Olympians, they are Ryan Phelps and Devon Gatlin-Tyson. Main Event: The Commonwealth (Owen Benoit-Jericho and Kelly Lawton) vs. The Olympians (Ryan Phelps and Devon Gatlin-Tyson) The main event was a back-and-forth match but the shenanigans would come about as the Soldiers of Misfortune (General Wade and Guerrilla God) attack Jordan Angle backstage, causing a distraction. Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller attacked Ryan Phelps, leaving DGT to be assaulted by OBJ and Lawton. Lawton won the match with an Outback Cutter. 3 out of 5 stars. After the match, we cut to the parking lot area and we see "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones beating up Masato Kojima. Kojima is busted open and "The Number One Pick" continues his assault. LeJuan hits a Game Winner, leaving Kojima laying in a pool of his own blood. Brian Kinsley: There is so much craziness going on! This weekend, it's Fatal Alliance! Who will be the new CPWA Tag Team Champions? Who will escape Hardcore Hell with the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship? For Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, this is Brian Kinsley saying goodnight! We cut to a video package illustrating what a Harcore Hell match looks like. Hardcore Hell is a Hell in A Cell type match with hardcore weapons and blowtorches scattered around ringside and attached the cell itself as we see highlights of the matches that took place primarily in Japan, some featuring Masato Kojima himself. After both signed the contract, "The Number One Pick" wastes no time flipping over the table and attacks Masato Kojima. The two brawl, leading to referees and road agents to break up the fight. As LeJuan and Brother Julius exit the ring, Masato Kojima flies through the ropes with a plancha dive onto LeJuan to continue the brawl. We are coming to you live from Cincinnati, Ohio! Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, and we have a great show for you tonight! We have cruiserweight action, plus "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida will take on Priscilla Pierce. Anthony Harris: That's not all, we have King Shaka defending the CPWA Television Championship against Miguel Sandoval Jr. and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones will take on Devon Gatlin-Tyson. Sir Samuel Stewart: Let's take it to the ring! We cut to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL!!! Zola's "Zingu 7" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Cape Town, South Africa, he is Kwazi Nkosi. Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena. Announcer: And his opponent, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang. Brian Kinsley: IT'S YANG TIME!!! Match 1: Kwazi Nkosi vs. Keith Yang What should've been noted as a big win for Kwazi Nkosi over a two-time CPWA World Heavyweight Champion in Keith Yang, was nothing more than a stop and start borefest. Both competitors did their best to keep the crowd involved, but the botches took them out of it. Kwazi won the match with a Phoenix Splash to get the win. 1 out of 5 stars. We cut to The Olympians' locker room area and we see Devon Gatlin-Tyson getting ready for his match tonight. Jordan Angle approaches DGT and tells him that he'll be in his corner tonight and make sure no one from Number One Enterprises try to affect the outcome of the match. DGT thanks Jordan and tells him that he will be fine. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a twenty-five minute time limit. Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on G String plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from the posh hills of the Hamptons, she is Priscilla Pierce. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "PONPONPON" plays in the arena as the crowd claps along to the beat Announcer: And her opponent, from Yokohama, Japan, she is "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida. Match 2: Priscilla Pierce vs. "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida A slightly better match than the opener and with a lot of storytelling. Priscilla was in control of the match from the early going, but "The Orange Idol Princess" went on a comeback and looked to have the match won, but interference from "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez prevented such a thing from happening. This allowed Priscilla to throw her pink dust in the eyes of Yoshida, setting her up for Beauty and Grace to get the win. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Cynthia Steele and Michelle Bluefeather. We then cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Ryan Phelps and Owen Benoit-Jericho. We then cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Iron Willed (Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller) taking on The Odenkirks (William and Jake). ***Commercial Break*** We come back from commercial break and we see "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones getting ready for his match. Brother Julius tells LeJuan that he made sure the referee calls the match in his favor. LeJuan thanks Brother Julius and tells him to go find The Soldiers of Misfortune to take out Masato Kojima. Brother Julius asks if his assistance will be needed for the main event tonight, to which "The Number One Pick" answers no and that he will beat Devon Gatlin-Tyson easily. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is a tag team match scheduled for one fall with a twenty-five minute time limit. Metallica's "Orion" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, representing Number One Enterprises, the team of Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller, Iron-Willed! Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are William and Jake, The Odenkirks. Match 3: Iron Willed (Ivan Markov and Klaus Muller) vs. The Odenkirks (William and Jake) When it comes to these two teams, expect the physicality to go past the all-time high bar. The match started out promising but faded in certain moments where the crowd was supposed to be cheering intensely. While the match was back and forth, it wasn't something to write home about. The match ended with William hitting the stalling brainbuster on Muller to get the win. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to a video package highlighting Cynthia Steele, which lasts for a minute. The video package ends and we cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a twenty-five minute time limit. Bananarama's "Venus" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Los Angeles, California, she is Cynthia Steele .Mattmac feat. Dakota Bear and Okema's Rez play in the arena. Announcer: And her opponents, from Phoenix, Arizona, she is Michelle Bluefeather. Match 4: Cynthia Steele vs. Michelle Bluefeather A very entertaining match that got the Cincinnati crowd invested. Michelle Bluefeather had control of the match, but consistent interference from Priscilla Pierce and later "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez helped Cynthia come away with a win with Twisted Steel. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, all three women attack Michelle Bluefeather. Suddenly, Ferial Kapoor, "Otaku Girl 86" Michelle Lennox, and Shiori Yoshimura rushed to the ring to even the odds, focing Cynthia, Ivy, and Priscilla to flee the ring. We cut to a graphic hyping up a match for King Shaka defending the CPWA Television Championship against Miguel Sandoval Jr. We then cut to a graphic hyping up the main event between Devon Gatlin-Tyson and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. We then cut to a graphic hyping up a match between Ryan Phelps and Owen Benoit-Jericho. ***Commercial Break*** We come back from commercial break and we see The Vega Brothers (Raul, Raymundo, Ramon, and Angel), along with Marco Rocha, Leopard Shiraishi, and Tigress Ayala talking among each other. Suddenly, Pretty Boy attacks Raul, leading to a five on one brawl that involves Rocha. Referees and road agents rush in to break up the fight. Pretty Boy proceeds to attacks the referees and road agents, and gives chase to the Vega Brothers, Rocha, Shiriashi, and Ayala. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a twenty-five minute time limit. Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing the Olympians, from Baltimore, Maryland, he is Ryan Phelps. Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he is Owen Benoit-Jericho. Match 5: Ryan Phelps vs. Owen Benoit-Jericho As highly anticipated as this match was, neither guy felt like working with each other. Phelps and OBJ started brawling with each other, spilling out of the ring several times. The match ended with Ryan Phelps uncharacteristically hitting OBJ over the head with a steel chair for a DQ finish. 1 out of 5 stars. We cut to a video package highlighting King Shaka, which lasts for a minute. The video package ends and we cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Television Championship. Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, from Miami, Florida, he is Miguel Sandoval Jr. Aloe Blacc's "A King is Born" plays in the arena Announcer: And his opponent, from Johannesburg, South Africa, he is the CPWA Television Champion, King Shaka Match 6: CPWA Television Championship: Miguel Sandoval Jr. vs. King Shaka (c) Another match that was highly advertised, but fell flat in execution. It also didn't help that Lord Phillip Byron IV would interfere in the match, striking King Shaka with his cane, and later Miguel Sandoval Jr. 1 out of 5 stars. Afterward, a brawl spilled out between the three men. We cut to a graphic hyping up the main event between Devon Gatlin-Tyson and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. ***Commercial Break*** Brian Kinsley: Next week, CPWA will be in Columbus, Ohio for Octane. We will see Jason Reynolds in action, plus a six-woman tag team match between Priscilla Pierce, Cynthia Steele, and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez taking on Michelle Bluefeather, Ferial Kapoor, and "Otaku Girl 86" Michelle Lennox, Pretty Boy will also be in action, and much more. Announcer: Our main event is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL!!! Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, from Jacksonville, Florida, he is Devon Gatlin-Tyson Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena Announcer: And his opponent, from Columbus, Ohio, he is the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones. Main Event: Devon Gatlin-Tyson vs. "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones The main event was not only the match of the night but was also highly anticipated. "The Number One Pick" had control for much of the match and kept DGT in check. It looked like LeJuan had the match won and was going for the Game Winner, but LeJuan kept taunting DGT. This would come back to haunt "The Number One Pick" as DGT would mount a comeback. To make matters worse for LeJuan, Masato Kojima was beating up Brother Julius and The Soldiers of Misfortune (General Wade and Guerrilla God). This led to DGT hitting the split-second DDT to get a very big win. FIVE STARS!!!!! DGT exited the ring and celebrated with Jordan Angle and the rest of the Olympians. Brian Kinsley: I can't believe it! Devon Gatlin-Tyson just beaten the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion in a non-title match. "The Number One Pick's" chances of being a double champion in two different promotions is in serious jeopardy. For Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, this is Brian Kinsley saying goodbye everybody! Octane fades to black. Narrator: On these streets, everything is always on the line. We see Masato Kojima punching a brick wall before turning his attention with a menacing glare. Narrator: Where survival is key. We then see Vader lifting weights and yelling. Narrator: The strongest being the most confident in their assured victory. We then see a limousine driving through downtown Philadelphia. Inside the limousine, we see "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones with the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship placed on his lap with Brother Julius sitting right next to him. Match 2: CPWA Women's International Championship: Kiara Thompson vs. Sabina Bellini (c) As much as this match was advertised, the hype just wasn't there. Sabina was a bit nervous going into her first title defense, especially at the biggest event for CPWA. Kiara felt like she was off her game a bit, which didn't help matters either. The only good thing to come out of this match was the interference from Big Angela to help Kiara, and "Otaku Girl 86" Michelle Lennox coming down to even up the odds. Sabina hit Fortuna Degli Angoli (Fortune of the Angels) to get the win and successfully retain the CPWA Women's International Championship. 1 out of 5 stars. However, it did suffer from having a few start and stop moments. Priscilla Pierce made her presence felt when she threw her pink dust into the eyes of Ferial, allowing Cynthia to hit Twisted Steele to get the win and her team becoming the new CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions. 2 out of 5 stars. We cut to the backstage area and we see Masato Kojima being interviewed by Kimberly Reynolds. Match 7: CPWA Trios Championships: MAGNUM Koyama, Jack Dos Santos, and Shaolin vs. The Cruiserweight Dream Team ("The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans, "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon, and Rory Irvine) (c) One of the best matches of the night so far, and one that features the cruiserweights doing their thing once again. The match fast-paced, but not to the point where it would lose the Philly crowd. The match ended with Shaolin hitting Shaolin Style on "The Korean Idol" to get the win and for his team to regain the CPWA Trios Championships. 4 out of 5 stars. ***Intermission*** We come back from intermission and we are treated to a video package that features the Gordon Sisters and the Hart Sisters, which lasts for a minute and thirty seconds. After a sixteen-minute contest, Crystal Hart won the match with a Sharpshooter on Abbie Gordon. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, the Gordon Sisters and the Hart Sisters shook hands and hugged much to the approval of the Philadelphia crowd. Announcer: And her opponent, from Bangkok, Thailand, she is the CPWA Women's Champion, Lightning Achara! Match 9: CPWA Women's Championship: Rosa Corazon vs. Lightning Achara (c) Pageantry aside, this match felt more like a one-sided battle as Lightning Achara had her way against Rosa. Despite the possible comebacks, Achara was able to put the match away with a Lightning Strikes to retain the CPWA Women's Championship. 1 out of 5 stars. Match 10: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Raul Vega vs. Raymundo Vega vs. Ramon Vega vs. Angel Vega vs. Marco Rocha vs. Pretty Boy (c) The 6-way dance for the CPWA Hardcore Championship can be described in so many words, but the ones that stick out the most have to be brutal, barbaric, insane, ludicrous, violent, and epic. The Philadelphia crowd were vocal for this match. It looked as if Pretty Boy was going to retain the CPWA Hardcore Championship, but each time, someone prevented him from doing so. In one instance, "Georgia Woman" Jenny Marshall got herself involved and attacked Pretty Boy, even going as far to use "Florida Man" Gary Strange's alligator, Sunshine, to deal some damage. Despite getting some retribution for "Florida Man", she ended up getting chokeslammed for her troubles. Then, Leopard Shiraishi got herself involved as she attacked Pretty Boy. Suddenly, Tigress Ayala would get herself involved in the match and it looked like she was going to attack Shiraishi with a steel chair, only for her to turn against Pretty Boy. Both Shiraishi and Ayala were brutally chokeslammed through a table. This led to a low blow from Raul, leading to an Angel's Wings from Angel, followed by Ramon hitting the Vega's Edge on Pretty Boy. This allowed Raymundo to hit the San Juan Frog Splash to get the win and become CPWA Hardcore Champion. FIVE STARS!!!!! Maiavia would end the match with the Kahuna Splash to retain the CPWA International Championship. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to a video package highlighting the feud between Jason Reynolds, Owen Benoit-Jericho, and Deron "Ron" Jordan over the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship, which lasts for two minutes. Match 12: CPWA Cruiserweight Championship: Jason Reynolds vs. Owen Benoit-Jericho vs. Deron "Ron" Jordan (c) It wasn't a good outing but it certainly wasn't a bad one when it came to the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship. Jason Reynolds felt like a non-factor in this match, despite the fans getting behind him. OBJ looked more than certain that he was going to win the match, but Deron "Ron" Jordan prevented any chance of that happening. Jordan would win the match with a Solar Eclipse on OBJ to retain the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship. 2 out of 5 stars. We cut to a video package for the CPWA Tag Team Championships, which lasts for a minute and thirty seconds. The video package ends and we cut back to the ring. Elijah Jordan showed out om what was a demolition derby of a match. Both Iron-Willed and Soldiers of Misfortune looked to have the match won, but both teams were at each others' throats, causing them to eventually fight each other. This led to the Odenkirks, The Mortician, and Mangod to fight them. It came down to the Newtons and the Jordans, but it would be Elijah Jordan who would reach the gold and give himself and Shelton the CPWA Tag Team Championships! We cut to a video package highlighting "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones as CPWA World Heavyweight Champion, which lasts for three minutes. The video package ends and we cut back to the ring. Match 14: CPWA World Heavyweight Championship: Masato Kojima vs. Vader vs. "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones (c) An epic main event that saw an unlikely challenger in Kojima giving it his all, an outsider in Vader proving to be a threat, and the reigning, defending CPWA World Heavyweight Champion doing battle for the promotion's coveted prize. It was all LeJuan and Vader for much of the match, despite Kojima's input. After a Vader Bomb on Kojima, it looked like Vader had the win secured until Brother Julius made his presence felt. Vader took care of Brother Julius with a Vader Bomb, only for "The Number One Pick" to knock Vader out with a steel chair, leading to a Game Winner for the pin and retain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship. 4 out of 5 stars. LeJuan Jones is presented the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship. He walks up the ramp, leading to the entrance stage. "The Number One Pick" raises the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship above his head as pyro goes off as High$takes fades to black. 2024.03.02 21:29 M_Tootles Varys Didn't Pay For Gendry's Apprenticeship, As We're Invited To Believe. It Was Actually...(Spoilers Extended)
Guy who paid Gendry's apprentice fee was overweight and/or strong, brown beard with red (or a red beard dyed brown to disguise?) wearing purple cloak with silver threadWhen our hours-long debriefing/discussion got around to this note, I told her that the conventional wisdom is that it was Varys in disguise who paid the armorer Tobho Mott to take on Gendry as an apprentice.
"He was stout, round of shoulder, not so tall as you. Brown beard, but there was a bit of red in it, I'll swear. He wore a rich cloak, that I do remember, heavy purple velvet worked with silver threads, but the hood shadowed his face and I never did see him clear."My old habits kicked in (I'm retired from ASOIAF writing/posting!!! Really!!!) and I compulsively scrolled the results, knowing I'd done so in the past but totally blank as to what I'd found/provisionally concluded.
Petyr had given [Alayne] a roll of arms to study, so she knew their heraldry if not their faces. The red castle was Redfort, plainly; a short man with a neat grey beard and mild eyes. Lady Anya was the only woman amongst the Lords Declarant, and wore a deep green mantle with the broken wheel of Waynwood picked out in beads of jet. Six silver bells on purple, that was [Lord Benedar] Belmore, pear-bellied and round of shoulder. His beard was a ginger-grey horror sprouting from a multiplicity of chins. (AFFC Alayne I)This isn't just "kind of" a match, this is exact, especially accounting for the passage of years since the mystery man paid for Gendry's apprenticeship.
"He was stout, round of shoulder, not so tall as you.Lord Benedar Belmore:
Belmore, pear-bellied and round of shoulder.Mystery Man (years ago):
Brown beard, but there was a bit of red in it, I'll swear.Lord Benedar Belmore ("now"):
His beard was... ginger-grey"Ginger" being red, with the brown hair now gone to grey.
"The truth now," Ned urged. "The streets are full of strong boys. The day you take on an apprentice without a fee will be the day the Wall comes down. Who paid for him?"A lord. It's right there. Gendry's lordly benefactor could have been Benedar Belmore.
"A lord," the master said reluctantly. "He gave no name, and wore no sigil on his coat. He paid in gold, twice the customary sum, and said he was paying once for the boy, and once for my silence."
"Describe him."
"He was stout, round of shoulder, not so tall as you. Brown beard, but there was a bit of red in it, I'll swear. He wore a rich cloak, that I do remember, heavy purple velvet worked with silver threads, but the hood shadowed his face and I never did see him clear."
"What would you have me do?" asked the torchbearer, a stout man in a leather half cape. Even in heavy boots, his feet seemed to glide soundlessly over the ground. A round scarred face and a stubble of dark beard showed under his steel cap, and he wore mail over boiled leather, and a dirk and shortsword at his belt. It seemed to Arya there was something oddly familiar about him. (AGOT Arya III)"A dark stubble" is not the same as a full-on beard, let alone a beard with gingered in it!
The voice was strangely familiar, yet it took Ned Stark a moment to place it. "Varys?" he said groggily when it came. He touched the man's face. "I'm not … not dreaming this. You're here." The eunuch's plump cheeks were covered with a dark stubble of beard. Ned felt the coarse hair with his fingers. Varys had transformed himself into a grizzled turnkey, reeking of sweat and sour wine. (AGOT Eddard XV)
"The king eats, they say, and the Hand takes the shit." (AGOT Eddard I)Safeguarding one of Robert's bastards would seem to qualify: Robert fucked a girl and impregnated her ("the king eats") and Jon Arryn had to deal with the not-so-savory consequences ("the Hand takes the shit").
"Why would Jon Arryn take a sudden interest in the king's baseborn children?"—and implicitly, when we meet Robert's bastard daughter Mya Stone, who was given a position in what was then Jon Arryn's household with a social station akin to that which an armoreblacksmith like Gendry might hope to attain.
The short man gave a sodden shrug. "He was the King's Hand. Doubtless Robert asked him to see that they were provided for." (AGOT Eddard IX)
Sansa knew that Jon Arryn's bannermen resented Lysa's marriage and begrudged Petyr his authority as Lord Protector of the Vale. The senior branch of House Royce was close to open revolt over her aunt's failure to aid Robb in his war, and the Waynwoods, Redforts, Belmores, and Templetons were giving them every support. (AFFC Alayne I)Meanwhile, Belmore's specific behaviorole in the Lords Declarant's parlay with Littlefinger just so happens to 'rhyme' with the notion that he delivered Gendry to Tobho Mott. That is, Belmore's shepherding Gendry, King Robert's bastard son, to safety as an apprentice armorer can be seen as 'rhyming' with Belmore's notable focus on shepherding Jon Arryn's (maybe bastard?) son Robert away from Littlefinger and to safety:
Lord Belmore, first of the six to reach the Gates, had sent a raven to tell Littlefinger that no more food would go up to the Eyrie until he sent Lord Robert down. (AFFC Alayne I)Moreover, there is a very good reason to believe that Jon Arryn may have been closer to Benedar Belmore than he may have been to some of his other lords and thus to believe that Jon may have been willing to trust Belmore with a sensitive, secret task like taking Gendry to Tobho Mott and paying for his apprenticeship: Jon Arryn's little brother Ronnel Arryn was married to... a Belmore:
"Give us the boy," said Lord Belmore, "and you may depart the Vale unmolested for your proper seat at Harrenhal." (ibid.)
"Jape all you like, Littlefinger," Lord Belmore blustered. "The boy shall come with us." (ibid)
[Petyr explaining why Harry the Heir is "the Heir" to Sansa:] "Lord Jasper Arryn, begin with him. Jon Arryn's father. He begot three children, two sons and a daughter. Jon was the eldest, so the Eyrie and the lordship passed to him. ... Lord Jasper's younger son, Ser Ronnel Arryn, wed a Belmore girl, but only rang her once or twice before dying of a bad belly." (AFFC Alayne II)Setting aside this family tie between Jon Arryn and Benedar Belmore, there's also a certain poetic, 'rhyming' resonance between what Littlefinger says about Lord Belmore here—
Belmore is corrupt and can be bought. (ibid.)—and the idea that Belmore once paid off Tobho Mott to take Gendry as an apprentice.
Belmore was soon puffing like a bellows, and Redfort's face turned as grey as his hair. (AFFC Alayne I)Get it? GRRM writes about Belmore seeming like a blacksmith's bellows — the very tool the blacksmith's apprentice Gendry is working just before we "meet" him when he is first introduced to Ned by Tobho Mott — and then immediately makes a reference to somebody whose name is "Red" having their hair turns grey with age. This is GRRM telling us that if we're thinking it might have been Lord Belmore who paid for Gendry to learn to work a bellows back before Belmore's red beard began to turn grey, we're right.
Alayne was so grateful that she hugged him. "Thank you. Have you seen my father, ser?"Could Belmore's knowledge become important somehow after the hoarding scheme blows up in Littlefinger's face and Belmore breaks with him?
"Down in the vaults, " Ser Lothar said, "inspecting Lord Nestor's granaries with Lord Grafton and Lord Belmore."
The vaults were large and dark and filthy. Alayne lit a taper and clutched her skirt as she made the descent. Near the bottom, she heard Lord Grafton's booming voice, and followed."The merchants are clamoring to buy, and the lords are clamoring to sell," the Gulltowner was saying when she found them. Though not a tall man, Grafton was wide, with thick arms and shoulders. His hair was a dirty blond mop. "How am I to stop that, my lord?"
"Post guardsmen on the docks. If need be, seize the ships. How does not matter, so long as no food leaves the Vale.
"These prices, though," protested fat Lord Belmore," these prices are more than fair."
"You say more than fair, my lord. I say less than we would wish. Wait. If need be, buy the food yourself and keep it stored. Winter is coming. Prices must go higher."
"Perhaps," said Belmore, doubtfully. (TWOW Alayne I)
