2024.06.10 02:19 dfykl [PFF] 2024 NFL roster rankings: Strengths, weaknesses and X factors for every starting lineup

[PFF] 2024 NFL roster rankings: Strengths, weaknesses and X factors for every starting lineup
26. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
Biggest strength in 2023: Edge Rusher
Khalil Mack drank from the fountain of youth in 2023, delivering his best season since 2020 despite being 32 years old. The former Defensive Player of the Year recorded a career-high 18 sacks last season, including six in one game against the Raiders, while also generating 88 pressures and a 91.8 PFF grade.
Joey Bosa battled injuries last year but was still very productive when on the field, registering seven sacks and 24 pressures in just nine games. Bosa will be 29 when the 2024 season begins and has never earned a PFF grade below 75.0. In Bosa’s absence, 2023 second-rounder Tuli Tuipulotu picked up a lot of the slack, converting eight of his 51 pressures into sacks while also being very stout against the run (88.4 run defense grade).
Biggest weakness in 2023: Wide Receiver
The Chargers had one of the worst cap situations in football this offseason, and the result was them having to jettison their top two receivers. Longtime standout Keenan Allen was traded to the Bears for a fourth-round pick, while Mike Williams signed with the Jets after being released.
Los Angeles spent a first-round pick on Quentin Johnston last year, and he had plenty of rookie struggles. The team drafted three receivers in 2024 to compete for playing time — Ladd McConkey, Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson. Despite these additions, the receiving room lacks any established playmakers for Justin Herbert to throw to.
X-factor for 2024: WR Quentin Johnston
To say Quentin Johnston struggled as a rookie first-rounder would be an understatement. While his drop issues were overblown (he only dropped two passes last season), he struggled to make any real impact. Aside from a 91-yard performance against the Broncos in Week 14, he didn’t have a single game with more than 52 receiving yards.
After the losses of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason, Johnston will be called upon to step into the No. 1 receiver role if this Chargers offense has any hope of having a strong passing attack.
Rookie to watch: RB Kimani Vidal
Despite having been taken in the sixth round of the draft, Vidal has the potential to take over the starting running back job sooner rather than later.
The Chargers signed Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins away from the Ravens this offseason, and while Edwards played well last year, setting career highs with 810 rushing yards and 13 scores, he is 29 years old at a position that ages rapidly. Dobbins, on the other hand, has dealt with many injuries throughout his career and can’t be counted on to stay healthy. The other back of note on the roster, Isaiah Spiller, hasn’t done much in his two seasons out of Texas A&M.
With a good training camp, Vidal could find himself high in the running back rotation right out of the gate.
OveUnder 8.5 win total: Under
While Justin Herbert’s passing ability and the addition of Jim Harbaugh as head coach will cover up a lot of problems, this team is too thin at many key positions to be considered a serious threat in the AFC.
The Chargers do have one of the easiest schedules in terms of 2023 records, but they don’t appear to have the firepower to take full advantage of that.

2024.06.10 02:13 best_samaritan Body shop damaged my interior and rotated my staggered tires.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the long post, but here's my situation:
The rear door and the quarter panel of my Lexus IS 250 were damaged and the rear wheel was scratched due to an accident. I found this body shop and showed him the car. He said he'll order the parts ahead of time, so that I could drop the car next week and it would be done quickly.
I left the car there on a Monday and the guy said it'll be done by the end of the week. Fast forward, it took him almost a month to finish the job.
I went to get the car and the exterior looked ok. I paid him the full amount, but once I actually sat in the car I realized the door panel and the dashboard were badly damaged and the plastic was peeled off in a few places, exposing the material underneath.
I asked him about it and he totally denied that they had anything to do with it. He kept saying that they didn't do anything with the interior, but my wheel lock was in the dashboard and they couldn't have worked on the wheels without it.
I eventually left as I had other things to do, but as I was driving the car, I realized the ride was weird and it was creaking when I turned the steering wheel. So I checked the tires and was shocked to find out that they had rotated the staggered tires, putting the thick tires in the front and the narrow ones in the back.
What would you do in this situation? I've already paid him, but this level of incompetence is unbelievable, so I really don't know what to do at this point.

2024.06.10 02:11 ohmyqwad General Advice (DAT and Master’s degree)

General Advice (DAT and Master’s degree)
Hello all,
Firstly, best of luck for everyone applying this cycle and those taking the DAT soon!
Right now I am a masters student at ECU studying epidemiology and wanted to get some feedback for the situation I am in right now. I am currently trying to apply for this current cycle. For reference my stats look like:
Master’s Epi GPA: 4.0 Undergrad Public Health GPA: 3.67 Undergrad Science GPA: 3.51
Around 130 hours of shadowing and 600 hours of dental experience (I went to a high school that had dental classes. 4 operatories, x-ray machines, lab room, whole nine yards. Super cool!)
I take the DAT Aug. 6th.
Lots of research experience and good LOR’s from well known professors at my school. In undergrad I got a full ride scholarship for academics, but not sure if that carries weight. I have attached like a version of my CV if y’all want a further look.
My main questions are:
Am I really hurting my chances by taking the DAT this late? I see all these posts about people finishing up the DAT this month or next. It feels like I’m hitting a buzzer beater with some applications due Oct. 1st.
What else can I do to strengthen my app? Obviously have a good DAT score (I’ve been scoring around 21 on practice tests? Still two months out though) but are there any holes that I can fill in the mean time?
Will my master’s GPA overshadow my somewhat mediocre undergraduate GPA? Or do schools take both into account?
Thank you and good luck to everyone out there!

2024.06.10 02:08 DueYak2223 25k in debt. I need some advice.

Hi. I'm a 22(M) year old college student who tried to live a lifestyle way beyond his means. I just started in spring of 2023 on a fully-paid low-income scholarship, so I still have a ways to go. I'm going to give you a backstory, because I've been putting off getting some extra help for way too long, and it would be nice if you knew a little bit about me.
I understand not everyone is going to want to read all of this, so you can skip to the paragraph that starts with "So now here I am".
I had absurdly high credit limits from a temporary well paying job back in COVID (2020). I met this girl and I tried to impress her by going out often, buying her nice flowers often, going for karaoke (which is surprisingly and terribly expensive), eating at fancy restaurants, and getting amazing seats at concerts. All the while, I had no job. A couple months in, I wasn't sweating it. I was flipping sneakers with my brother on the weekends to make some money to afford what I was doing. I had applied to all sorts of jobs like sales rep or cashier positions at Target, Starbucks, ShakeShack, BestBuy, Nike at 2 different locations with employee referrals, Apple with employee referrals, and some local businesses too. I landed an interview at BestBuy but in the end, I wasn't good enough.
Then my mom suggested I apply to a data entry job at a jewelry store that started at $22 an hour and had the opportunity to get to $25/hr. To me, that sounded like a dream. Are you kidding? I was desperate for a job, any job. I passed the interview and the simple math test they gave me, and I think the staff took a liking to me. Or so I thought. I worked for 2-3 days, not even a week and they fired me. They gave me a bullshit story. My friend who was in my calculus class worked there and said they wanted a full-time worker. I couldn't work full-time as my school schedule constrained me.
I continued my dangerous spending habits until my four main cards were at 50-75% capacity. I talked to my now girlfriend about my spending and she had no idea, because I'd put up the façade that I was handling everything. She was sweet, caring, and understanding when I said that I would turn down the extremities of our dates. She is okay with things like cooking at her house instead of eating out at restaurants and wishes I told her sooner. Her mom loves me and a couple months ago, she showed me a job posting for a mathematics tutor position at $30 an hour. WHAAAAAAAAAT? That was as much as I was making during COVID. With my confirmation, my girlfriend's mom proceeded to get her friend that I've never met to write (I presume) the best recommendation in my life. My now boss reached out to me and I got the job in under fifteen minutes. In the beginning, I was making $390 a week in a 13 hour work week. In my opinion, I was chipping away at my debt at a decent rate.
However, there were issues with my boss moving my hours around and at one point, I was making $180 a week. I decided to pick up Instacart (a shopping service) alongside my schooling and tutoring. My brother had been doing it for a year full-time and makes good money, more than some people out of colleges. But the way it functions is like a work your way up to the top model, as there are tiers and only the top tier workers are the ones getting decent pay. So naturally, I was unmotivated and rarely did it, as the payout was literally not worth my time. I would do deliveries or wait for a prompt for those deliveries for 8 hours and walk away with $40 sometimes. That's not to account for gas or anything (I drive my mom's car and pay for the insurance for context).
So now, here I am. I don't make enough to cover my cards' balances and their interests anymore. I make $240 a week from tutoring on a good week (if the kids don't have a half day or professional development day or something), and school is about to end for them, so I'm going to have no income like next week? I was getting $275 from the school every month directly into my bank from my scholarship funding. I'm taking 2 online summer courses until June 1st and then I'll start 1 on June 9th. I've gone to Chase in person to try to get some advice with my mom, and the representative was very understanding. He said when he was my age, he was in the exact same situation, and he worked out a deal with Chase (ironically), like a debt settlement agreement. We got on a phone call with the branch that is responsible for that stuff. I thought we had finally come to a solution. However, because up until that point, I had been paying my cards regularly, Chase DENIED me a chance at debt settlement. Damn!
I've not paid any cards since and neglected it. Would I be able to look for debt settlement now? Should I file Chapter 7? Also because of the details in the story, if you know me, please don't tell anyone.

2024.06.10 01:59 formerchild2 feeling frustrated by lack of progress

feeling frustrated by lack of progress
my background: i’ve been riding and taking lessons since i was 8 or so - i am 28 now. i took flat lessons and then later jumping lessons between the ages of 11-24. then i took a break from those between the years of 24-27 as i couldn’t afford them and my trainer moved away, so then i mostly was an exercise rider. i have been riding horses with varying levels of training, and all kinds of tack that didn’t necessarily fit me. and then i also got completely too sloppy in my position during that time (somehow developed a bit of a chair seat) and didn’t even realize until i saw videos of me riding and then i realized i needed to get back to lessons and worked out a lesson trade in exchange for exercise rides with a new trainer.
so in january of this year i started taking dressage lessons. i’ve spent so much time and effort with my trainer working on fixing my position and lower leg, and i feel so much more stable. my trainer has mentioned my improvement too, and i’ve felt so happy with my progress, but i’ve just a photo of me riding from behind and i’m so frustrated. my lower leg is not in complete contact with the horse despite me thinking it was - my ankle angles out away from the horse whereas the rider beside me is in 100% full contact. i thought i’d made progress in this. i genuinely don’t feel this when i’m riding and i feel so discouraged. my trainer hasn’t mentioned it, so i asked about it. she said that i need to make sure i’m putting my weight on the inside of my foot rather than the outside of my foot to keep my calf in contact, but i thought i had been. i must be gripping with my knees? i don’t know, i feel like such a mess of a rider compared to literally everyone around me. additionally, since i’ve been retraining my position, other issues have come up. for example, i also have been experiencing ankle and knee pain in my right leg on hacks that go over an hour and a half. ankle pain predominantly over long stretches of trotting, and knee pain after getting off. i must be overcompensating somehow.
has anyone struggled with this, and how did you fix it?

2021 Silverado Z71 Level / New Wheels / Trimming
Hey everyone, wanted to post my experience with leveling / new wheel setup and what I had to do to ensure no rubbing.
Installed the following - Rough Country N3 2 inch lift struts
  • Rough Country N3 rear shocks
  • 20x9 Weld ledge rims with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/60r20 tires
Had slight rubbing at full lock and hard acceleration in reverse so I trimmed the mud flap as attached and zip tied the carpeted inner fender back to remove the rubbing.
If you are thinking about doing a leveling kit, I highly advise doing the N3 struts / rear shocks combo at a minimum. The ride quality of the stock rancho’s are 10 times better with improved dampening over bumps and completely removed the bouncy ball effect when hitting a bridge transition on the highway.
The photo’s do not do the lift justice as it sits a lot higher than it appears.
One word of advice is if you want a slight rake forward and not 100% level, put a 1 inch block in the rear when doing this combo.
Before and after photo’s attached along with trimming pics

2024.06.10 01:46 Earllad Engineering/Robotics lessons for high school students - suggestions welcome?

I'm a high school CTE teacher down in Texas. We're doing a new class next year called Manufacturing Engineering Technology, it's a second year class. I want to include a large segment on modern robotics and automation, around one quarter of the year. After a lot of research and testing, I have settled on RoboDK for our software simulation (free version, it's in the budget).
Could you guys help me brainstorm some small simulation jobs they can carry out?
I'm currently planning to start off just with dropping robots in the workspace, setting up the environment with objects, etc. I would like to see them import CAD files, show cutting, transportation, packaging, etc. I'm picturing a summative project of a full line showing stages of production start to finish.
What do you all think are the most important items students will need to see to have a good foundation?

2024.06.10 01:42 Sweet-Count2557 How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?

How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?
How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?
Traveling with a 5 year old isn't easy. It can be both daunting and overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! So How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?
With the right tips and tricks, you can make traveling with your little one an exciting adventure they won't soon forget. As parents who've traveled around the world with our children since birth, we know how difficult (and rewarding!) this experience can be. We'd like to share what we've learned about family travel – specifically when it comes to traveling with a 5-year-old – so that you too can create memories to last a lifetime.
The juxtaposition of exhaustion from planning every detail versus exhilaration from seeing new places through the eyes of a child is something all families should experience. The challenge lies in finding ways to balance these two opposing forces while keeping everyone safe and happy along the way. Being prepared for anything will go far towards ensuring your well-being as well as making sure your kiddo has the best time possible during your travels.
We'll offer up advice on everything from packing lists and snacks to entertainment options that are sure to keep them busy no matter where you're going or how long you plan on being gone. Whether you're taking a short road trip across town or exploring international destinations by plane, train, or boat - there's lots of information here that will help ease any worries and leave more room for fun! So let's get started…
Preparing For The Trip
Traveling with kids can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Planning ahead is key for any successful family vacation and will help ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time. When planning a trip with a five-year-old, there are several important things you should consider to make the experience as stress-free and fun as possible.
Before your departure, research your destination so you know what activities or attractions would best suit your child's age and interests. This will give you ideas of where to go and what to do while traveling with your little one. You may even want to look into kid-friendly restaurants or other accommodations available at your destination. It’s also wise to pack plenty of snacks and drinks, as well as toys or books they like - this way they won’t get bored during long car rides or plane trips!
Finally, when preparing for the journey, don’t forget about safety – both on land and in water. Make sure all necessary paperwork such as passports or birth certificates is up-to-date before the trip begins! Be sure to bring along appropriate swimwear (for swimming pools/beaches) and life jackets if necessary - especially if visiting oceans or lakes. Taking these precautionary steps will ensure that both parents and children feel comfortable throughout their travels together!
Choosing The Right Destination
When planning a trip with your 5-year-old, choosing the right destination is key. It's important to consider what activities they'll enjoy and whether they’re suitable for their age. To ensure everyone has an enjoyable time, think about destinations that have plenty of attractions tailored specifically toward kids. If you choose wisely, it could be one of the most memorable trips ever!
One way to select the perfect location is by looking at travel reviews from families who've already been there. They can provide detailed insights into how accommodating different places are for young children. Reading these will help you make more informed decisions on which sites are worth visiting and where to stay. This can save you lots of hassle when traveling with a 5 year old in tow!
It's also wise to research if any museums or other educational facilities offer special programs for kids. These typically involve interactive stories told through playtime activities such as puppet shows, crafts, and games. Learning about history in this manner can really capture a child's imagination- and yours too! Allowing them to explore a new place while having fun makes getting away even more worthwhile.
No matter where you decide to go, just remember that creating amazing family memories should always come first! A well-thought-out plan combined with carefree moments spent together will guarantee unforgettable experiences along the way - something both parents and children alike will treasure forever.
Packing Essentials For A 5-Year-Old
Traveling with a 5-year-old can seem like an intimidating task, but it doesn't have to be. With the right packing essentials and planning ahead of time, you can make sure your mini traveler stays happy throughout the journey.
The first thing to consider is comfort — remember that even if you're only traveling for a short period of time, kids still need their creature comforts from home. Here's what should always go in your little one's bag:
A favorite stuffed animal or blanket
A change of clothes
Snacks tailored to their tastes
Something fun (like books or games) to keep them occupied during long trips
TipsBuy a new Toy, especially for the trip, and revealed it just after Boarding the aircraft to gain 30 minutes of distraction during the most stressful phase of the flight.
It's also important not to forget about yourself! Make sure you bring items for your own comfort too so that you won't be distracted by discomfort while on the road. This will help ensure a smooth trip overall and make sure everyone enjoys themselves. At the end of the day, travel with a 5-year-old requires planning, patience, and understanding – three things that every family needs when hitting the open road together. With these tips in mind and some extra preparation before embarking on your adventure, even the most novice traveler will find success when exploring as a family unit.
Keeping Kids Occupied During Travel
Traveling with a 5-year-old can be an adventure - and it brings its own unique challenges. One of the biggest ones involves how to keep them occupied during travel, whether that's in a car or on a plane. Thankfully, there are some great strategies you can use to ensure your child stays entertained while they're en route to their destination.
ActivitySupplies NeededColoring/Activity BooksCrayons/Markers / Stickers/StampsStorytelling GamesPaper & Pencils for Drawing PicturesWord Puzzles & QuizzesNotepad for Writing Answers Down
To start off, coloring books, activity books, stickers, stamps, and crayons or markers provide hours of fun for kids (and parents!) alike. Additionally, storytelling games like playing "I Spy" or creating stories together can be very enjoyable not only for children but also for adults who may find themselves reminiscing about their own childhood days. Even something as simple as word puzzles or quizzes can help pass the time quickly - all you need is a notepad and pencil to write down any answers!
When traveling with small children, it’s important to remember that everyone has different needs when it comes to entertainment. Some may prefer more active activities such as drawing pictures or building block towers while others might enjoy quieter pursuits such as reading books or listening to audiobooks. Regardless of what type of activity works best for your family dynamic, the goal should always be to make sure everyone is having a positive experience overall. Taking into account these tips will make traveling with a 5 year old much smoother and more enjoyable!
Tips For Long Road Trips
Long road trips with a five-year-old can be an adventure, but it also requires some planning. Here are some tips to keep your family's journey smooth and enjoyable for everyone involved:
Pack plenty of snacks, drinks, and activities that will keep them entertained during the drive.
Take frequent breaks along the way - stops at parks or rest areas allow them to stretch their legs and get out all that extra energy.
Bring books, coloring pages, or other activities they can use in the car if you're stuck in traffic or waiting times. It'll help pass the time more quickly!
Invest in a tablet loaded with movies, TV shows, or educational games they can play while on the go. This helps make long drives much less stressful for both parent and child alike.
Have fun together - sing songs, tell stories, and create memories as you travel down the highway together!
Remember to take it slow when possible too; there’s no need to rush through any part of this precious experience with your little one. Give yourself permission to savor every moment of quality time spent bonding with each other—you won't regret it! To ensure a stress-free journey from start to finish, bring everything you need so that those inevitable bumps in the road don't turn into major detours from your destination.
Staying Healthy And Safe On Vacation
It's like packing for the ultimate game of survival: you want to make sure your family has everything they need to remain healthy and safe during their travels. Taking a vacation with kids can be an adventure, but it can also bring stress if you don't plan ahead. Here are some tips on how to keep your little ones in good health while away from home:
Pre-Vacation Planning During Vacation Post-Vacation CareGet immunizations up-to-dateBring hand sanitizer & wipesCheck for bed bug bites after returning homePack medications & medical suppliesClean hotel room upon arrivalThrow away used items that may carry germs (towels, pillows)Research any special vaccinations needed at the destinationKeep hydratingWash clothes when back homeVisit a doctor before departureAvoid public pools/lakes without supervisionWatch out for signs of jet lag
Preparation is key! Before leaving, make sure all necessary vaccines or boosters are taken care of - especially if traveling abroad - as well as gather any essential medicines or medical supplies needed. This includes sunscreen and insect repellent – two must-haves when exploring new places! Doing research on what kind of illnesses might be found in certain areas will help inform the kinds of precautions you should take too. Once you arrive at your destination, ensure that everyone washes their hands regularly and uses hand sanitizer often; this is particularly important when visiting unfamiliar places such as museums or amusement parks. It’s also wise to clean surfaces in the hotel room immediately following check-in; many people forget about this step which can lead to bacteria accumulating over time. Lastly, staying hydrated throughout the trip is paramount because dehydration can quickly put a damper on fun activities planned for each day.
When returning from vacation, pay attention to those telltale signs of illness caused by exposure to different environments such as joint pain, fever, rash or stomach issues. Additionally, inspect all luggage carefully upon arriving back home since bed bugs have become increasingly common among travelers these days - yikes! Throw away any items that were used while traveling and wash all clothing pieces thoroughly once inside the house again– no one wants unwanted visitors tagging along post-vacation! Finally, due to possible changes in sleeping patterns experienced while flying between time zones, parents should be mindful of potential side effects associated with jet lag so kids get enough rest until they're adjusted again.
Staying safe and healthy on vacation doesn’t require much effort considering there are plenty of resources available online plus accredited travel agents who specialize in family trips – use them! Knowing what vigilance steps to take prior to departure pays off because nothing beats having peace of mind knowing that everyone stays comfortable and protected during their journey together.
Dealing With Jet Lag
Traveling with a 5 year old can be an exciting experience, but it's not without its challenges. Jet lag is one of them! It doesn't have to ruin your trip though - here are some tips for helping your family cope:
Start adjusting their sleep schedule in the days leading up to your departure. This will make it easier when you arrive at your destination.
Once you’re there, let your little one take short naps during the day and keep them active during the daylight hours as much as possible. This can also help adjust their body clock more quickly.
Avoid sugary snacks or caffeine right before bedtime, which can disrupt their sleep cycle.
By following these simple steps, your kiddo should start feeling better soon after landing in their new time zone. With patience and understanding from everyone involved, jetlag won’t prevent you from having an amazing adventure together!
Making Kids Feel At Home Away From Home
Ah, the joys of traveling with a 5 year old. No matter how much we plan and prepare for our family trip, there's no denying that it can be quite daunting! But let me tell you: if you put in the effort to make sure they feel at home away from home, your little one will thank you later - and so will you!
First things first: pack some familiar items from their bedroom or playroom. This may include favorite toys, books, and blankets - whatever makes them comfortable and helps them settle into unfamiliar surroundings. We often forget about the mundane but necessary things such as nightlights and sound machines too; these are invaluable when it comes to soothing children who don't sleep well on holiday. Don't forget to encourage them to bring along any special souvenirs they've collected over the years too; nothing says 'I'm home' like being surrounded by cherished keepsakes.
Next up are activities: look into what attractions are available nearby that cater specifically towards young travelers – chances are, they'll love exploring new places just as much as adults do (maybe even more!). Activities should be age-appropriate yet still fun enough to keep kids entertained throughout the day. Scheduling regular meals together also ensures everyone stays happy during meal times and builds an atmosphere of familiarity within your group dynamic; something which always feels comforting after a long day out sightseeing.
In short? Traveling with a 5 year old doesn't have to be scary; all it takes is a little bit of planning ahead to ensure that your child knows where they stand in this new place - making sure they feel welcomed, safe, and secure before anything else. With this kind of preparation, your whole family should enjoy a wonderful holiday experience!
Exploring The Local Area With Kids
Once you've arrived at your destination and made the kids feel comfortable in their new environment, it's time to explore! Traveling with a five-year-old can be daunting if you don't know where to start - but fear not. Here are some great tips for exploring the local area with kids:
First of all, plan ahead. Research kid-friendly attractions nearby such as parks or museums before leaving home so that you have an idea of what activities are available once you arrive. Make sure to check opening times and any restrictions on age limits, entry fees, etc., so that everyone is prepared once they hit the ground running.
Secondly, make it fun! Kids learn best when they're having fun - so why not turn your exploration into a game? Set small challenges like finding certain landmarks or collecting interesting items along the way; this will help keep them engaged while also teaching them about their surroundings. Finally, take plenty of breaks throughout the day. Letting your five-year-old rest and refuel regularly will ensure that they stay energized for the whole adventure!
Exploring the local area doesn't have to be stressful; with a little bit of planning and some creative ideas, there's no limit to how much fun you can have together! So take a deep breath and get ready for an unforgettable experience – one that both parent and child won't soon forget.
Building Memories Together On Vacation
Taking a trip with your five-year-old is an exciting adventure that can create lasting memories. It's the perfect time to explore new places and experiences together. To make sure you have a successful vacation, there are some tips for ensuring a great experience for both of you:
First, plan activities ahead of time. Make sure they're age-appropriate and include something each of you will enjoy doing. Don’t forget to research local attractions — museums, theme parks, zoos, etc. — in advance so your child has plenty of options once you arrive at your destination. Consider booking tickets or making reservations beforehand as well; it'll save you from long lines later!
Second, involve your child in the planning process. Let them help choose where to go and what sights to see on the way there. This allows them to take ownership of their vacation and also builds excitement leading up to departure day. Plus, when kids know what to expect each day they feel more secure and engaged throughout the trip.
Finally, be flexible during travel days and while out exploring new places together. Leave room in the schedule for spontaneity since anything can happen when traveling with children — especially young ones! And remember that small moments often become treasured memories down the road — like stopping for ice cream after dinner or taking a detour just because it looks interesting — so don't be afraid to embrace unexpected surprises along the way!
Planning Age-Appropriate Activities
Traveling with a five-year-old can be both rewarding and challenging. Before you go on your family vacation, research age-appropriate activities that will keep your little one engaged while also sparking curiosity in new places. Here are some tips for planning an itinerary full of fun activities for the whole family!
First, plan activities based on what interests your child. For example, if they're into dinosaurs, search for attractions like museums or parks where they'll get to learn about them. Or if they love animals, look for zoos or farms nearby. This way you can make sure everyone enjoys themselves without compromising on quality time together as a family.
Second, consider the physical aspect of activities when choosing things to do on vacation. Five-year-olds have boundless energy and need outlets for it - so opt for things like hiking trails, swimming pools, or playgrounds where they can burn off some steam in a safe environment. You could even plan days at amusement parks or waterparks where they'll explore games and rides tailored specifically to kids their age.
Finally, invest in experiences over material objects during vacations with children this age. That means making memories through interactive exhibits rather than buying souvenirs that may just end up collecting dust at home later on down the road. Your little one will appreciate being able to relive the excitement of these adventures years after the trip has come to an end!
Navigating Different Time Zones
Navigating different time zones within a 5 year old can be tricky, but it doesn't have to ruin your travel experience. The key is to make sure you understand how the time zone shifts will affect them and plan accordingly. First and foremost, try to stay on the same schedule as much as possible throughout your travels. This means that if you are in an area where daylight savings changes occur frequently during the summer months, you should pass this information on to your child so they know when their body clock needs to adjust for these changes.
Second, keep track of what day it is wherever you are - even if it's not the same date at home! Keeping track of which days we had traveled through was a great way for my daughter to recognize our progress while away from home; she felt more connected by knowing just exactly where we were. This gave her security that she won’t get lost or left behind somewhere along the journey – especially important since kids tend to feel insecure in unfamiliar surroundings. It also made her curious about all things new and exciting around us!
Finally, try breaking up long flights into smaller segments whenever possible. If there's no other option than taking a direct flight then break it up mentally by doing activities together like reading books, playing games or watching movies (especially age-appropriate ones!). Explaining the concept of flying across multiple time zones helped her understand why sometimes we arrive at our destination earlier than expected and reassured her that everything else would eventually fall back into place. With a little knowledge and preparation ahead of your trip, navigating different time zones with a 5 year old can be done seamlessly and enhance everyone's overall experience greatly!
Documenting Your Journey Through Photos And Videos
Preserving precious memories of your travels with a five-year-old is easy. With the right tools and techniques, you can document your journey in photos and videos that will last for years to come.
First off, be sure to pack enough memory cards and extra batteries so you’ll never miss an opportunity to capture special moments throughout your trip. This might seem like an obvious tip, but it’s worth repeating! Making sure you have plenty of space available on your camera or phone ensures that each moment is documented without worrying about running out of storage.
Next up – practice patience while shooting pictures and videos with your child. You won't get those perfect shots every time, but don't despair – take lots of different angles and perspectives when capturing images with kids involved; this way you can pick and choose which ones turn out best. Taking the time to place yourself low down at their level often gives the most natural results as well – plus it helps create more meaningful connections between parent and child during photo-taking sessions!
Capture candid memories too – not just posed family portraits! Focus on everyday life experiences along the way: conversations being had around meals, funny faces they make while exploring new places, or even small details like footprints in sand or sunsets reflecting off the water. These small details are what make all the difference when documenting a story from start to finish - these little glimpses into daily life become lasting reminders of how far we've traveled together as a family.
Finding Kid-Friendly Accommodations
When traveling with a 5-year-old, finding the right accommodation can make all the difference. You want to be sure that your little one is comfortable and safe during your trip. Fortunately, there are plenty of kid-friendly accommodations available to choose from.
The first option you may consider is a hotel or resort that caters specifically to families with young children. These establishments typically offer larger rooms equipped with cribs and other amenities for kids such as play areas, swimming pools, and game rooms. Many also provide special activities like arts and crafts classes just for kids, making it easy for parents to relax while their children stay entertained.
Another great way to ensure a family-friendly experience is by booking a Vacation rental. With thousands of properties listed across most major cities in the world, you’re likely to find something suitable for your needs. Not only do these rentals usually come fully furnished but many owners will even supply helpful extras like toys, books, games, and more to keep your child engaged throughout your stay. Plus they often have access to communal spaces where you can meet other travelers who share similar interests - perfect if you're looking for some travel companionship!
Wherever you decide to stay on your next vacation with the kids, remember that having fun together is what matters most! A good night's rest and quality time spent exploring new places makes memories that last a lifetime - so go ahead and get out there!
Post-Vacation Reflection
Traveling with a five-year-old is both an adventure and a challenge, but the rewards are great. Now that our holiday has come to an end, there's much to reflect on about our experience.
The first thing we've realized is that preparation is key for any successful family vacation. We spent time researching destinations, discussing expectations, and packing everything from books to snacks before departure. This helped us avoid surprises during our trip and gave us peace of mind.
We also learned the importance of planning activities in advance. Knowing what activities were available near where we stayed meant no stressful moments trying to figure out what to do next; all we had to do was find something suitable for everyone, including our 5 year old!
As parents, it was wonderful seeing how excited and engaged our daughter became during this journey. She experienced new places, foods, and cultures alongside us - all while broadening her horizons. It made us realize that travel should be a regular part of family life if possible - so it’s already time to start thinking about our next destination!
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Best Way To Keep My 5 Year Old Entertained During A Flight?
Traveling with a five-year-old can be quite a challenge! You want your little one to have an enjoyable experience, but being stuck on a plane for hours isn't always fun. So how do you ensure that your trip is pleasant and entertaining? The answer lies in finding the best way to keep your five-year-old entertained during a flight.
When it comes to keeping a five-year-old occupied midair, there are lots of great ideas out there! From coloring books and puzzles to podcasts and movies, there’s no shortage of options. One thing I highly recommend is making sure they bring their own backpack full of goodies. This will give them something to explore while also providing them with the opportunity to choose what activities they'd like to participate in throughout the journey.
Another important tip when traveling with children is planning ahead. Try researching different games or activities that might work well during long flights so you're prepared before take off. If possible, download some shows or games onto your device - this will help avoid any buffering issues due to spotty internet connection. Additionally, break up the time by having snack breaks or walking around if allowed on board – anything that keeps them engaged and stimulated during those long hours of travel!
It's key to remember that every child is unique and may require different kinds of activities depending on their age group and interests. With proper preparation and creative thinking, though, parents can make flying with their kids as stress-free as possible; allowing everyone involved to truly enjoy the adventure together!
How Can I Keep My 5 Year Old Safe When Visiting A New Destination?
When travelling to a new destination, safety is of utmost importance for any family. For those with young children, this means being extra vigilant and taking steps to ensure their child's safety in an unfamiliar place. When it comes to five-year-olds, parents must be particularly mindful about the risks associated with visiting a new location - from simple things like crossing roads safely to more complex challenges such as communicating language barriers. But there are ways that families can protect their kids while still enjoying their holiday experience.
One way to make sure your 5 year old is safe during travel is by researching the destination ahead of time. Make sure you know the local customs and laws so you can do all you can to prevent any potential hazards they may encounter at your chosen destination. Talk to your child before leaving home and explain what kind of behaviour is expected when out and about in public, especially if you’re going somewhere where English isn't widely spoken. It’s also important to stay aware of your surroundings – always keep a close eye on your little one or designate someone else who will look after them whilst you explore other areas.
For added peace of mind, check whether the hotels or accommodation options have age restrictions for each room type that would apply to your child; some places don't allow unaccompanied minors under certain ages into specific rooms or facilities – not only for legal reasons but for practical ones too (such as pool access). You should also take into consideration how far away attractions are from where you're staying - long journeys could become tiring very quickly! The last thing anyone wants is an exhausted 5 year old running around in unfamiliar territory! Ultimately, planning ahead and doing research can save stress throughout the journey and help create lasting memories that everyone can treasure forever.
By following these simple tips, families with young children will feel safer venturing off into unknown lands together knowing they have taken every precaution necessary – allowing both adults and kids alike to have fun without worrying about unnecessary danger looming over them like a cloud!
What Are Some Tips For Preventing Jet Lag In A 5 Year Old?
Traveling with young kids can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it comes with its own set of challenges. A big one is dealing with jet lag in a 5 year old. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your family travel adventures:
Have them adjust their sleep schedule before traveling by going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night for 6-7 days prior to departure.
During the flight, have them wear loose clothes and encourage naps if possible. Give them snacks throughout the day that are high in protein such as nuts or hummus instead of sugar filled treats like candy bars.
Try not to plan too many activities when you first arrive at your destination; allow everyone time for rest so they can acclimate more easily to the new environment.
These strategies will help ensure that your little ones - and you! - don't suffer from jet lag while on vacation. You'll want your family trip to be fun, memorable, and stress free so follow these tips and make sure your whole crew arrives feeling rested and ready for adventure. Keeping up with these guidelines will also provide parents with peace of mind knowing their children are well taken care of during long trips. With all this in mind, you're now equipped to tackle jet lag head-on!
What Should I Do If My 5 Year Old Gets Homesick When Traveling?
Traveling with children can be a challenge, and when kids are young it’s especially difficult. For parents that have to travel with a 5 year old, dealing with homesickness may be one of the biggest obstacles they face. Fortunately, there are ways to manage this inevitable emotion so your child has an enjoyable trip!
First off, it's important to remember that homesickness is normal and expected –everyone experiences it at some point in their lives and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. To help make sure your little one feels comfortable while on vacation, here are four tips:
Comfort objects: Pack something from home like a stuffed animal or blanket that will remind them of home and provide comfort during unfamiliar situations.
Talk about home: Letting your child talk about what they miss back home will often reduce feelings of being overwhelmed by everything new around them.
Keep routines consistent: If possible try to keep as many familiar routines intact (bedtime stories for example) as these moments of familiarity can go a long way in helping your child feel more secure away from home.
Show patience and understanding: Homesickness usually passes quickly if you pay attention to how your child is feeling without overreacting or worrying too much yourself; they should sense that you understand their emotional needs before any other concerns come into play.
It’s also helpful to plan activities ahead of time such as museums, parks, playgrounds etc., and involve your 5 year old when planning out the itinerary so they have something exciting to look forward to each day - this will take their mind off missing home for awhile! Be sure not to overwhelm them however; having too many attractions packed into one day could result in exhaustion which won't do anyone any favors!
At the end of the day though, sometimes all it takes is a hug from mom or dad (or both!) for those feelings of homesickness to disappear completely- no matter where you are in the world! With just a bit of extra preparation, traveling with your five year old should still be full of fun memories rather than ones filled with sadness due to being away from home.
What Are Some Activities I Can Do With My 5 Year Old That Are Both Age-Appropriate And Fun?
Traveling with a 5 year old can be both an exciting and challenging experience. To ensure that the journey is enjoyable for everyone, it’s important to plan activities that are both age-appropriate and fun for your young traveler. So what kind of activities should you do?
Take nature walks – A great way to get outside and explore! Nature walks provide lots of opportunities for learning about the environment, spotting wildlife, and discovering new things. Plus, they're easy on the budget too. Pack some snacks or even a lunch so you can make a day out of it.
Visit museums - A visit to a museum can be an educational adventure full of discovery and exploration. Many museums offer interactive exhibits tailored specifically towards children which makes them ideal places to spend quality time together while learning something new. You may even find special programs geared toward younger kids like story times or craft classes.
Check out local attractions - Whether it's going on a ride at an amusement park or exploring a nearby landmark such as a cave or aquarium, there's no shortage of interesting things to do in most cities around the world. The best part is many attractions offer discounts or free admission days making them more affordable than ever before. And don't forget all those photo ops along the way!
No matter where life takes you and your little one, there are plenty of ways to keep them entertained while also having meaningful experiences during your travels together. From nature walks to visiting local attractions, these activities will let your child discover their world in an age-appropriate manner without sacrificing any fun!
Conclusion
Traveling with a five year old can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. With just a bit of planning and organization, you can make the experience both safe and fun for your little one! From selecting age-appropriate activities to finding ways to prevent jet lag, there are plenty of strategies that will ensure your family vacation is nothing short of amazing – so incredible you'll think time itself stopped as soon as you stepped off the plane.
The best part about traveling with kids? Seeing their eyes light up when they try something new or discover a place for the first time. It's truly magical! And if your five year old does get homesick or overwhelmed during your travels, don't forget: from unexpected detours on the way home to packing extra snacks in case of emergencies, being prepared is key for any parent who wants an unforgettable adventure.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your suitcase and pack those bags – it's time to show your adventurous little traveler how exciting the world outside can be! After all, life is too short not to explore…so let’s go see what this big beautiful planet has in store!

2024.06.10 01:39 Critical_Pie3341 Better school for more money or worse school for less debt?

I haven't applied to law school yet, but I will be applying this coming cycle for the 2025-2026 academic year.
I am applying to a few schools - 2 schools I will comfortably get into once I take the LSAT (diagnostic of 153 so I have no doubt I will score >160 one I take it for real after preparing). Another 2 are definitely more of a reach though not outside the realm of possibility considering past experience, interests, etc. (More about my situation here)
However, there is a 5th school I am considering applying to. This school, Suffolk, is not ranked well - #130. There are several reasons, however, that I am considering it. 1: it would be cool to live in Boston. 2: greater possibility of full ride (especially if I did binding early decision, then it's guaranteed) 3: they have a concentration in health/biomedical law, which is what I am interested in. I have no desire to go into BigLaw, so going to a lower ranked school isn't an issue at least in that respect.
So, my main question: would it be "dumb" to go to Suffolk (if I were to get a full ride) versus a better school (#60-95) for less scholarship money?

2024.06.10 01:38 seidita84t ULPT Request: Neighborly bullshit.

Sorry in advance for the lengthy story, but I believe all context is important. I live in a pretty decent neighborhood in Southern California (about 7 years). Our cul de sac and the connecting street are full of great people that have always gotten along, and let each other do their own thing. If there was something that was genuinely an issue, we'd discuss it like adults and try to come to a solution in an amicable manner. About a year after my family moved in, we got a new neighbor. Older retired couple, seemed like really nice people. For the first year things were great, both between us, and then with our other neighbors. To the point where we had exchanged keys, they had watched our youngest, and things were great, until they weren't. Over time I had done quite a bit for them. Stopped and repaired a major water leak in their ceiling. Corrected their kitchen wiring circuits. Fixed their pool filtration system. Even fixed their grandkid's Christmas train which had stopped working. Things went downhill when my wife and I bought our small travel trailer. I expressed to him that it wouldn't be staying/stored at the house, but that I was going to bring it home as new for a few days to transfer stuff into, put a solar panel on, and a few other things. He got real weird and demanded (I use that word very literally) to know for how long. I told him probably 3-4 days, to which he reminded me that our city has a 72 hour rule (ok, but our city clearly expresses that they don't actually enforce it unless someone files a complaint). I said sure ok, it'll be 3-4 days. On day 4, I had to leave the house early in the morning to meet a client for a work emergency. My neighbor is standing on the side lawn right at the property line, and before any other words could be exchanged, he opens with "you are a dishonest, untrustworthy, and deceitful liar. Give me my keys back." I was a little shocked, and expressed to him there's no reason to speak that way, but he kept on. So I went and got his keys, we exchanged, and I let him know that I won't be spoken to that way. I haven't talked to him since. This was 3.5 years ago. Since then though, he's made it a point to be a thorn in my side. He's also gone from having the support of our entire neighborhood, to having everyone (except one spouse) dislike him for the same reasons.
He has;
Called the sheriff on my wife for noise complaint. She was listening to music in the back yard while gardening, mid-day on a Saturday, at a volume which the deputy himself said was well within reason. To top it off, they weren't even home. They called the sheriff as they were leaving for the day.
Called the city on me 2 times and sheriff once, for an inspection on the suspicion of me "having or producing unsafe chemicals". These were the result of 2 different scenarios. 2 of those times I was spray painting some projects. 1 of them, I was using my laser cutter to make some plywood patterns.
Called the city about by "suspicious vessels" of chemicals. These are my 6x 55gal water drums on the not-visible-to-him side of my house.
Repeatedly called the city to report my trailers. I own multiple trailers for different work/personal purposes. They're never there for more than 48 hours (city rule is 72hrs) but he calls on day one and says they've been there for at least 2 already. I have on multiple occasions shown the city footage from my security cameras with time stamps of when the trailers have been there. But it's treated as a guilty until proven innocent type shit.
I've gotten 2 tickets (which were eventually dismissed) for my truck being parked in the street for more than 72 hours.
Etc etc. We'll, he's also done these kinds of things now to my other neighbors, albeit more specific to their own stuff. Including plenty of things that the city genuinely and admittedly doesn't care about, unless someone complains.
I've spoken to the city manager, and the sheriff about the feeling of unreasonable harassment. They seem to believe that as long as I don't have anything to hide, or aren't actually doing anything wrong, I shouldn't worry. But that's a bunch of shit. I don't want to be petty, but at this point I just intend to make his days miserable, in whatever legal-ish way that I can.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas. Needs to be something that rides the line for legalities. I have a family and a business, I don't need to start catching charges over stupid shit. Can't cause physical harm, and needs to be relatively discreet as he does also have cameras.

2024.06.10 01:30 WimbletonButt Can someone give me some tips on teaching a giant kid?

So I will admit, I'm starting to learn that I know nothing about fishing. Growing up I thought our local lake just sucked because we never caught anything but dad just stuck on a bobber and an earth worm and that's all we ever used. As an adult I learned how to ocean fish but that's not the same, that involves giant spikey weights to keep shit from getting washed in.
My son wants to learn and we've hit some obstacles I'm hoping someone can help me navigate. First, I learned how to use some basic rigs but I keep getting snagged. Everyone else seems to have such an easy time, y'all got tree branches and debris all in the water too right? I learned about a Texas rig and California rig (probably calling to wrong, I remember how you do it but not the name) recently so that should help some but can't use it for spinners and it brings me to my next obstacle.
My son is huge. He is my size and I'm not exactly small. He's 5'8 and built like a brick house. He's 9. So he's the size of a full grow man but has the coordination of a 9 year old. It's not like giving a normal sized kid a child sized rod, he has a little brother who handles that fine. Obviously he could use a small rod for more control but that seems to end worse as the rigs are more than half the length or the rod. I gave him my 6ft rod which helps on distance but damn kids are jerky, their movements are not smooth at all. 4/5 of his casts are jerked around so much that the rig gets tangled or caught on the rod before casting.
Does anyone have tips on helping a kid stop getting himself tangled as all shit? His aim is actually really good, he's had one of those children's rods for years that I let him cast into grandma's pool for like 4 summers. It's all the length of the rigs and his jerkiness combined that's causing the problems. Would love any videos anyone might have.

2024.06.10 01:11 Logical_Ferret_5297 Questions I have as a possible future student

I am a current senior in high school who lives in Arizona. I am big into outdoor hobbies (mountain biking, rafting, hiking, etc.) I have also loved Bellingham as well as the idea of being right next to Canada.
My plan was to take a gap year in Washington and get the instate tuition as I hear it is quite difficult to get scholarships at WWU. I have heard many people recommend this, and I am curious what I should do during this year. (I plan on taking mechanical enginerring)
Should I get a full time job? Or should I take community college classes? I have also been working in a bike shop for the last 4 years, so I am quite experienced in that. I am open to any suggestions, and feel free to give advice on the area, and what to expect! Thank you!

2024.06.10 01:08 yourpicklestinks Let me share my social media boomer drama that resulted in restraining orders, doxxing and more.

(Trigger Warning, long story. Homophobia. Using a throw away)
I joined a local app to make some extra cash. I was doing really well.
There's one guy on there who is a boomer. He posted racist, sexist and just ignorant things every day. Other boomers loved it. I reported two of these posts. Yes, a whopping two posts because I thought it was the right thing to do. Not getting into specifics for safety reasons.
Little did I know he had a boomer posse who were also on the review team and told him my full name. I know this because there's no other way they would find out who I was. For weeks people were dogpiling me on the app and ruined my reputation, spreading lies about me. I stopped making money on my business. I was so bummed out.
My wife was SO angry because we were close to a down payment for a house. We're also lesbians in rural Texas so we were scared.
He started to dox me, call me a bitch, Karen, whore etc. I was too scared to report again, but others did which I was blamed for.
Then things got scary. My mom started getting threatening messages on Facebook calling her a horrible mom and how she should be ashamed I'm her "blue haired faggot daughter", how I was a Karen and I shouldn't report people and "scroll on".
I had enough and I had to contact corporate support for the app. They banned his account probably within the hour after I had sent them a support request, all the details and reciepts attached. I was relieved they acted so quickly.
Fast forward to a few months ago. I saw a motorcycle pull into the parking lot at work. I got ready to help a new customer and recognized who he was once he got close to the glass doors. I immediately locked it and waited for him to leave. I thought it was just a coincidence. The doors are 1 way glass so he probably didn't see me.
But after he left we were getting calls. He asked to speak to a manager (which is me) about "concerning actions outside of work" and "online bullying from an employee" cursing a storm and having a tantrum. I had a male coworker back me up, and told him never to return or he would be trespassed.
He kept returning though; at night when we were closed, looking through windows and taking pictures. This was all on our security cameras. Not sure what the purpose of that was.
As a cherry on top, my address had been leaked and I was receiving SNAIL MAIL hate messages. At this point I had requested to move to another apartment in the same complex for my own safety and management agreed it was best.
My parents were LIVID and practically begged me to get a restraining order, which I did. It was surprisingly easy as he had agreed with his lawyer to all terms. I had the security footage, the Facebook messages, and all the mail I had gotten due this stupid drama.
However, my side hustle was still suffering from the backlash, so I had my friend post on the app on my behalf detailing the full story but not using his name. My reputation started to come back and was getting business again.
People quickly figured out who he was though. I had a WAVE of support coming my way and suddenly I was booked 5 months in advance for my side hustle. I made a ton of friends, and now we party on the weekends and walk our dogs.
I found out months later this man was a regular at a local bar, which makes sense why he was so popular in our small community. It turns out he lost his job (for drinking) and was forced into retirement. He hasn't been seen at the bar for months and I also found out that his daughter no longer speaks to him who is also a lesbian after she found out.
TL;DR Boomer doxxed and stalked me over a couple posts I reported him on social for, got a restraining order against him and now his daughter refuses to speak to him.

2024.06.10 01:00 yellow_chocolatecake I can't get over my disaster of a sweet 16, and it's been 6 months

My birthday is in october, but due to scheduling issues with family, my sweet 16 ended up happening mid-late november. I'm homeschooled and my parents dont like throwing parties, and I had to beg them for MONTHS to allow me to have a sweet 16 because for stupid reasons I cant remember at the moment, they didn't want to. So after weeks of pulling the "But [older sister's name] got one, so why can't i?" card, they finally gave in.
It was expected to be super big, and I even got my family from different states to come dow, which was a big deal because they never come down for anything. I invited all my friends, even ones I had a bit of a falling out with, but we're cool now, just not close like before. I'm homeschooled, so all of us are a bit awkward with each other irl despite meeting a few times.
The setup was amazing and me and my favorite cousins mapped out and strategized the best place to sit the night before, so we were all prepared. I gave them heads up on each of my friends and what to expect from them so that they dont worry. But even with all this, I was a nervous wreck.
I have selective mutism, which is a severe social anxiety disorder I was diagnosed with when i was in preschool, but have gotten a bit better over the years but it still affects me to this day. So I was feeling very overwhelmed but excited at the same time. I kept thinking "What if my family doesnt like my friends?" "What if my friends dont like my family?" "What if something goes wrong and drama starts?"
When the party started and my friends arrived, thats when it started going downhill. The things i worried about never came true though, I'll give it that. But things that didn't even occur to me, however, did happen. For example, I expected my friends to come sit with me at my table. None of them did. 8 of my friends sat at another table (I invited 9) and the only one who did sit with me was my best friend, who was the last one to arrive. And that was because I didnt even give her the chance to go over to the others' table, and plopped her right down at mine. Also, the friend who arrived before her, I offered her to sit at my table but she ended up going to the others'. (also forgot to mention, but some days after the party my bsf told me that they were inviting her to sit with them, but she declined. My friends never invited me though)
During the party, my table was the only one that wasnt full. That doesnt sound that big of a deal, but I have a past of people abandoning me and purposely leaving me out and developed FOMO because of it, so it was really triggering me.
I normally don't express my emotions, and I've gotten quite good at keeping a stoic look on my face, so much to the point where everyone thinks I'm "emo" (i have an RBF), but at the party, I allowed myself to show my sadness so my cousins could see it. I know that sounds pick-me, but I wanted them to see how it affected me without having to say it. They caught on too.
At some point in the party, speeches started. My aunt grabbed the mic and went to my family members to give a speech. It was okay, as I had asked this for my party a few months prior. However, it was going on for so long and what I thought would be like 3-4 family members turned into closer to 20. I became so embarrassed and I made sure to show my facial expressions to my cousins, while also trying my best to smile so I didn't look mean.
When the speeches were over, I felt a sense of relief. Until my aunt grabbed the mic and announced a "special dance" to take place. I immediately knew what was about to go down as she called up my dad and announced for a surprise father-daughter dance. I turned to my cousins and gave them a pleading look as my dad came over to my seat, but I knew they couldn't do anything. And they knew it too. I felt like I was gonna have a full breakdown in the moment. I was so embarrassed and helpless.
I know I sound bratty, but I don't like being the center of attention unless asked for it. That's why I told my mom that one thing I do NOT EVER want is a surprise party. I also hate dancing in front of other people, as I know I'm bad at it. So this was a nightmare. We made it to the dance floor and I turned my stoic phase back on to shield the tears I could feel coming if I didnt.
My memory of the dance is quite foggy, I wonder if my subconscious did that on purpose because it was too painful for me, but I do remember at one point my dad pulled me close and for a second, I felt comfortable and calm. That was until I remembered all eyes are on me, and I pushed away without thinking.
After the dance was over my dad made his way back to his seat and I stood there like stone. Idk why, but when I'm overwhelmed with emotion I freeze. It's almost like if I move, it makes the moment too real. And so I stay frozen. I knew I couldn't stay there for long though bc that would be awkward.
My aunt came over and asked if I was glad she kept it short, because my other aunt wanted it to be a long dance but she said no. I didn't respond. She also asked if I needed anything, and I told her I needed to go to the bathroom and asked if she could go get my mom. I really needed her in that moment. She sat me at a nearby chair and I didnt want my friends to see me sad, because then they'd come over and try to comfort me. And I didnt want that. So I went for a sort of bored look so they wouldnt be concerned.
My mom came over a few minutes later and walked me to the door, then two of my cousins ran over and asked what happened. I told them I'm fine, but it wasn't convincing because my eyes started welling up with tears despite the smile on my face. My mom impatiently assured them that I was fine and led me out the door. We went into the hallway and hid behind a wall. My mom checked if anyone could see us, then she turned to me and started scolding me. She asked me why I was crying, but not in a worried way, in an irritated way. I was trying to tell her that it was all so overwhelming, to which she replied "Well it's over now!" all mad. she scolded me for about 5-10 minutes I believe, which felt long in the moment. When I was finally done crying she took me to the bathroom to clean myself up. My mom then told me that when we go out, if she looks over at me during the party and I'm not smiling, I'm gonna get it.
As we were leaving the bathroom, one of my friends (we'll call her P) happened to be entering the bathroom and asked if I was okay. Remembering what my mom said, I smiled and told her I was alright. When I made it back to my table, one of the two cousins from earlier asked if I was okay, and I smiled and said yes. I could tell she didn't believe me but she didn't press any further.
The rest of the party my parents told me to go be with my friends, but I didn't want to because I felt that they didn't want me there anyway. Still, I did what I could to be near them. Pulling up a chair, standing by them and asked how they were doing, but I could tell they weren't all that interested. I looked clingy. And I have a thing where if someone doesn't want me around, I'll avoid them because I know what its like to have someone bothering you after you made it clear you want them to go away.
Towards the end of the party, my friends wanted to go to the nearby park, and my best friend came over to tell me, and said she wanted to wait for me and the others already left. I told her that I cant go, because I would be ditching my own party, and she understood. The others still left though. That wasnt that big of a deal, but it still left a bitter taste in my mouth.
And the last bad that that happened at my party was when I was playing hot-hands with my cousin and we were standing right next to my friends. All of a sudden, I noticed in my peripheral vision that my friends were gone. I looked around, assuming they all had to leave and forgot to say goodbye, when I spotted the. All 9 of them at the photobooth. and they were taking a group picture without me. My cousin noticed my sudden change in expression, and looked where I was looking. I watched as they all took their group photo smiling and happy without me. I changed back to stoic as I saw them finish up and my best friend walked back towards me. the rest of the night was a blur, but next thing I know, I'm standing outside as everyone starts leaving and I watch my friends head to their car. I yell out a goodbye, but none turn back to me. I make a joke to one of my cousins saying "wowww they dont even say bye to me? such fake friends!" (i was joking though, not serious).
I was riding home with my cousin, but her parents were helping take everything down, leaving only me and her in the car. I started crying and bawling my eyes out in the car. Then when I got home I was crying in the shower. I know that on paper, my (bitter)sweet 16 wasnt that bad. The party itself was amazing (except one of my friends later calling it "thrifty" and made a comment on how the DJ sucked... my aunt was the DJ), and I know everyone had so much fun, but for some reason its been 6 months and I still cant get over it. especially since the day after the party, I woke up with swollen eyes and a headache from crying all night. The cherry on top was my parents scolding me for hours about how I ruined my own party and humiliated them, and i made thousands of dollars go to waste.
I dont know what to do or why Im so hung up on this event. Im suffering from maladaptive daydreaming bc every single day I daydream about the party going differently. And secretly, I've lost so much trust in my friends over this stupid party, and hold a bit of a grudge over them for it. My friend who didnt attend the party told me how unhealthy it is that im still moping over it, and he says my party just sounded like an average family reunion. And said that if the party happened last week or a month ago, it would be understandable. But 6 months?? But yeah, anyway. Can anyone please tell me how I can heal from this? I'm so sick of being easily hurt and dramatic

2024.06.10 00:53 heyitskevin1 Everytime I try to get sober my nightmares return

Hi. I have CPTSD from childhood abuse. I was also homeless for a bit and that didn't help lol. I was finally able to get an apartment and I got a full ride to college, but my ptsd has gotten worse the more comfortable I get in life. I'll have like black out moments where I'm paralyzed for minutes to an hour and I relive the worst parts of my abuse. I've been smoking weed basically everyday for a year now as I lost my ptsd meds and am on a wait list to see a therapist to get my prescription back (was kicked off of medicaid, then put on a different medicaid). I'm broke with 11$ in my account and I don't get paid for the next 2 weeks. All my money went to rent as my landlord added charges from 2-5 months ago. I have no weed right now and I haven't been able to sleep because of my nightmares. I've also tried to get sober other times when I wasn't financially forced to, and it was also the same. My partner can't touch me without me jumping out of my skin. I have no motivation to get out of bed, and I feel like I'm rotting. My shit parents haunt me in my sleep nit allowing me to get any. I'm just sick of it. I don't want to be dependent on weed and I'm honestly sick of it because I don't even get high, but it's the only thing I can get right now that stops my nightmares and lessen the effects on my ptsd. I just want to die right now and feel like such a loser craving a plant just to stop my own mind from torturing me.

2024.06.10 00:32 justwantmymoneysback Who to list to get served on small claims

Throw away act just in case. I am currently trying to file a small claims case against my old apartment complex. Long story short, I renewed my 2024 lease and then paid an early termination fee after I bought a house a couple months in. Their software didn't catch my renewal and subsequently charged me both market rate AND and month-to-month rate AND month-to-month fee, resulting in over $2000 of over-charges. I brought these issues up in real time to multiple people in multiple ways. They are refusing to pay me back the full amount, despite telling me they would in writing. I have all emails, statements, etc saved and doubt I would lose in court. I already notified them with my intent to sue last week and they emailed me back with the same excuse. I am now e-filing my suit in Harris County, Texas. My precinct does allow e-filing.
My question now is who do I list as the defendant to be served? Here is the information (changed for privacy) I have:
Apartment name: 3131 Bella Apartments Apartment manager: Erica Newsome (this is the person who I spoke to every time regarding my move out, payments, etc in person and on emails) Management Company: Mosaic Management (yes I tried to talk to these guys too, but I don't think they have anything to do with it) Owner: KGG 3131 Bella, LLC (company is an LLC, that is not a detail I changed, got this info from public records) Registered address: 4612 Emerson Ave (from public records) Agent Name: Kalid Kamal (from public records)
So far, I have used the business name KGG 3131 Bella, LLC as the business defendant. I am using the registered address as the "service address." However, when I get to the page about Serving the Defendant, I am being asked the following:
"Because you added a business as a defendant, please provide the name and address of a person that should be served on behalf of that business below.
Please provide other addresses where the Defendant(s) may be served.
For business defendants, you must provide the name of the agent for service and the address where the agent can be served."
I have never interacted with the agent Kalid Kamal in this scenario, nor do I really know were 4612 Emerson Ave is. Would I use the apartment complex manager Erica Newsome and the apartment complex address in this case? I tried to search for answers across a couple different websites and subreddits but couldn't really find an answer to this exact type of question. Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

2024.06.10 00:21 aitaloudsinging AITA for being rude to my stepdaughter and banning her from eating with the family

I have 2 stepdaughters, Scarlett (18), and Ava (16).
Scarlett is an amazing singer. She's been in some kind of voice lessons since she was 10 and just graduated from one of the best performing arts schools in the state, where she went on a full scholarship since 6th grade. She has a YouTube channel where she sings that she's starting to make money from and was accepted into some very prestigious music schools. Additionally, she has been working paid gigs for the last 2 years and makes at least $500-1000 per week, more in the summers. She's even been the opening artist at a few concerts. I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying she's an objectively good singer.
Ava, on the other hand, is not a good singer. She likes to believe she is and she might become one if she actually stuck with voice lessons or choir classes but she always quits after 1-2 weeks because they're "bullying her" (giving constructive feedback, I've seen the notes her classmates and teachers have given her).
Ava also likes to sing very loudly and/or at bad times. For example, if she feels that we're too quiet at the dinner table she starts to loudly sing. It doesn't sound good and I honestly don't know how she doesn't hear it. If you ask her to stop she keeps going and if you're blunt and say stop, that doesn't sound good/we don't want to hear it she keeps going and gets even louder just to annoy you.
If we're in the car and we don't let her choose the songs she'll loudly sing whatever she wants, not what's playing, to annoy us and responds the same way to us telling her to stop. The only person she listens to is her dad.
A few weeks ago we were trying to eat and she was singing again. I told her to stop and she refused so I took her plate and told her from now on she is no longer allowed to eat at my table. She can eat in her room, the backyard, her car, the garage, wherever she wants as long as we can't hear her from the dining room and that this will continue until she can behave appropriately at the table.
My husband and I argued about it but he's not home for dinner so there isn't much he can do about it. Today she was eating lunch with us and started singing again. I told her to stop and she didn't listen so I again took her plate and told her to eat somewhere where we can't hear her if she doesn't want to act appropriately. Ava argued that she's a better singer than Scarlett and that Scarlett sings all the time. I was done with her bullshit so I asked her how many times someone other than her dad has actually asked her to sing, not even paying her to be there, just ask her to sing or how many performing arts schools she's gotten accepted to (she's applied to many).
She started to cry and my husband wants me to apologize for being rude to her and is insisting I allow her to eat with the family again. AITA?

2024.06.10 00:00 Timeraft [A4A] Trespass: The Well of Eternity [Sorcerer Speaker VS Scientist Listener][Rude/mean Speaker][Enemies to something][Part 1 one of ?]

good to monetize and modify!
So I was out with a buddy at one of those small town China buffets and he got a fortune cookie without any paper fortune in it. And I went home and made this. While listening to the album Wasteland to Wonderland by Paddy and the Rats.
It takes place in a world where science and magic coexist. Poorly. (Think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but with wizards) The city and the countryside are ruled by a being known as the fateweaver. She rules with an iron fist, her command over sorcery absolute. Deep within the city her scientists are working on something. Something insidious. One of these decides that they wont be a part of it anymore. They are exiled from the city with a terrible curse and nowhere to go. There are rumors however of another sorcerer, who lives in an old estate far on the other side of the wastelands.
Bereft of any other ideas, they go. Ready to challenge fate.

The listener has been cursed by a figure known as the fateweaver for refusing to work on a scientific project for them. They have fled from the fate weavers city and sought out a mysterious sorcerer to have the curse lifted
Unfortunately they didn't get very far past the edge of the estate. They're tangled up in a bush of enchanted roses. The sorcerer arrives, in sweatpants and an oversized tshirt. Tired.
Well well well what have my roses caught for me?
A trespasser all tangled up in the thorns. A dime a dozen drifter.
Trespasser trespasser why did come?
Seems you're a little tangled up there. Did you really think you’d just be able to waltz into my sanctuary? You have no idea how much danger you’re in right now.
You’re lucky that my roses judged you to be a good person at heart or their enchantments would have made you into a rat as soon as you pricked yourself on them. Then my cats would have probably eaten you.
So tell me why you came and I’ll cut you down and pretend I never saw you.
What's the matter trespasser? Devil got your throat?
What brought you here? Just what manner of mortal are you?
Oh it seems it can speak after all. Come on now.
You’re stammering. Talk slower.
A scientist you say? Well well well. It's not often I’m graced with the presence of a sage like yourself.
Tell me, child of science, why would you seek out a sorcerer? I don't suppose you came here just to check out my roses.
And what's this on your neck? Seems to my eyes to be a tendril from a curse mark.
Tongue clicking
Ooooh boy, somebody out there must really not like you huh? Why is that?
More stammering
Actually you know what? I’m not interested. Here let me unsheathe my knife and cut you down.
Cuts them down
Thud
Now I’m going to close my beautiful eyes for a moment. And when I open them you’re going to be gone. I'm going to go back to sleep and in the morning this will just seem like some silly dream.
Understand?
Alright sweet pea.
One
Two
Three
Deep breath
And you’re still here.
Ok let's try again shall we?
One…..
Two……
Frustrated sigh
Ok I’m starting to get a little bit angry now. You know you woke me up from a really wonderful dream?
I was driving down the coast roads in a long silver convertible. I think it was a thunderbird like from that Marc Cohn song.
I had the top down and the radio on. The sea breeze was tossing my hair just so and I had that lovely salty fresh taste in my mouth. You have no idea how much I long to return to the coast. To feel that breeze for real just one more time.
The sun was going down and the sky was a million radiant colors. Just exploding up from the ocean. I had my arm draped around the shoulder of some lounge singer. It was one of the nicest dreams I’ve had in a long long time.
And right in the middle of it, as my favorite song came on over the radio and that good looking singer started to sing along to it, so softly I could barely even hear. I leaned in for the kiss and what happened instead?
I woke up- alerted to a trespasser into my little sanctum. My hair is a mess and my mouth tastes like morning breath. And instead of some gorgeous singer, I get to spend this cloudy damp little night with you.
So you can see how I might be a little unamused right now. Clearly you’re not going to take the off ramp I so generously provided to you so explain why you’re here. It had better be a really good reason.
Listener stammers again
You know what shut up. Let me see that curse mark. The whole thing.
Shhhhh relax i just need to look. Take off your shirt.
Turn around.
Traces their finger over the curse mark
Oh ohh damn. You’re really up the creek aren't you? You’ve been cursed by the fateweaver herself.
I’ve seen this before. It's a very insidious little curse.
Your energy slowly sapped away. Day by day. Everything around you goes greyer and greyer. And then one day your tank finally goes empty and you sit down somewhere, close your eyes and turn into stone, never to stir again. It's a favorite of hers.
What did you do? You don't seem like the defiant type. I'm guessing it was something like speaking out of turn during a meeting. Something stupid and petty like that.
Ohhh you had some “concerns”? Didn't like the implications of what you were being told to research did you?
Laughs
I’ll paint the rest of the picture. You shared these “Concerns” with her, but to your incredible surprise (and nobody else's) instead of listening to your ethical concerns she cursed you.
Listener does not deny it
Hehe yeah I knew it.
I can tell you're the type to assume the best of people aren't you. That’s cute. That's why you came out here just assuming I'd lift your curse out of the kindness of my little old heart isn't it? The evil sorcerer in the heart of the wasteland is surely just a caring good Samaritan deep down.
Well why would I lift the curse even if I could? What's in it for me? Me and the fateweaver have an understanding. She gets the city and the mountains. And I get the wasteland. Sure we're enemies, but frankly she's beaten me. And I'm tired, so why Should I rock the boat for some no name labcoat like you? Why risk another confrontation?
So no, I don't think I’ll be helping you.
You can stay right here if you want though. I think a statue would look really nice right over…. There. Right over on that iron bench by the dry fountain. Make sure you strike a good pose when it starts, Sweet Pea.
Maybe sit right there with your head in your hands. Cry a little bit even. It'll give this place a real melancholy vibe. Maybe I'll let the roses grow over you. That doesn't sound so bad does it? Just try not to make too much noise. I need my beauty sleep. See ya in the morning!
Mocking laugh
Oh you look so cute when the light fades from your eyes like that. Whatcha gonna do? Beg? Cry?
Go right on ahead! Sadder stories than yours have failed to move me! But I love a good begging session as much as the next sorcerer! Come on then! Lets see it.
Listener gets angry. In a tranquil way.
Oooh a death glare. Shiver me timb-
Listener sucker punches them in the gut, tackles them and takes the knife. pinning them to the ground with the knife to their throat.
Wha-oof!!
Oh you're a tricky bastard aren't you? I have to admit that I never would have expected you to punch me in the gut like that. And you got your grubby little hands on my favorite knife.
You think you've got the upper hand don't you? Well go ahead try and slit my throat. Take that knife and do it.
Go on. Try it.
The knife won't cut me. I know it. And if you truly know something it can't hurt you. It's killed enough for me that it knows it won't be trusted by anyone else. That's old magic. Nice try though.
Of course you realize that this means war.
Punches listener in the face
Grunts
Shoves the listener off of them.
They square up with eachother
Come on you fool! Hit me again! Show me that you're made of blood and bone! Show me what you lose if your flesh becomes stone. Stand up for yourself! You deserve to live don't you?
Grunts as they throw a punch. Listener dodges
Well?! Show me that you want it! Show me how bad you want to live!
Dodges a punch
Is that all!? I was just starting to respect you!
Throws another punch and hits the listener. The listener is knocked back and lets out an angry primal yell.
Yeah that's it! Scream! Cry for blood! Get mad! Get angry! Live damn you! Live!
Punches the air
You've got too much to lose to let me stop you! Take your fate into your own hands! You know what you came here for! Take it!
Tries to punch out the listener. The listener dodges and counter punches. Hitting their cheek
Laughter
spits
You made me bite my cheek, you little piece of dirt. First blood goes to you.
My mouth tastes like blood, but tonight the blood tastes like wine. Images are flashing through my mind. Images of the past and the future. You're something else. Worth getting out of bed for at least.
Laughter
So you want to live? You're not the only one. I can help you with that, but it'll cost you.
This curse of yours isn't some run of the mill evil spell. It's not a matter of me just waving my hand and casting a good spell to counter the evil one. There's a reason she's called the fateweaver. You turning into stone has literally been written in the stars. It is your destiny, it's part of the great tapestry of the world's fate.
The sun will rise tomorrow, the river will flow to the sea, the moon shall wax and wane, and you will turn to stone. It is your fate.
Ha! There's always a way. I can change your fate, that's what it means to be a sorcerer after all, to change fate. Come with me. To the well of eternity.
Walking and talking
My estate is built around the well of eternity. It is the bedrock of everything I am. The little seed that became the core of my power, and the link that became the chains that bind me. I wasn't always what I am now. I used to be a dental hygienist, but I had a curse of my own I needed to break. I’ll spare you the gritty details but it led me here from my home dimension.
A great man once compared the world to an optometrist trapped on a rail car with one little hole in the wall. Forced to watch the world pass by but being unable to see where the train was going or where it had been, only where it was at that moment.
That is what it is to be bound by fate, but what if I told you there was a way out of the boxcar?
That great hole in the center of the brick plaza? That's the well of eternity.
We'll have to descend the staircase around it. Watch your step, the stairs are slippery and thin.
Conjures a magical fire for light.
A magical fire burning a brilliant shade of [whatever your favorite color is] it will guide our way.
This world of yours and mine is one of many. All that happens here is one way or another driven by a conflict between those who serve the princess of the tower, the goddess of order. And the Witch of the plains. The goddess of chaos.
The fateweaver serves the former, although she doesn't know it. And I served the latter, even though I despised it. All that happens in every universe on the most fundamental level, is driven by their eternal hatred. So if you ever felt like the gods were fools, well you weren't far off from the truth.
Or in any case that's how it has been explained to me. I'll freely admit I don't understand most things as much as I'd like to. I’m a lot less than I appear to be. Most sorcerers are. We’re all smoke and mirrors. Shadows on the wall. Ghost boxes and card tricks.
They are deep in the well. There's a quiet watery ambience.
The well of eternity may look like water, but in truth it is the stuff that makes up the void between universes. If you submerge yourself into the water you will cease to be a part of this world and the forces that command your destiny will have no power over you. Your life will be your own.
Whispers minus the debt you will be owing me
Wait, I want you to understand what exactly you are doing to yourself.
There was a kingdom once where the tribe of the valley and the tribe of the hill were all times at war. There was a trader who sold to both sides and became fabulously rich.
But one night as he was riding through a small city a great storm arrived suddenly.
He went to the valley tribe for shelter, but they had no love for someone who also knew the people of the hills.
He went to the people of the hills but they would not shelter a man who also knew the people of the valley.
Thus the storm descended upon him and he was without shelter. Even of the worst kind. He was never seen again.
Do you understand?
Look into the waters.
I can show you glimpses of the great cities of the multiverse.
Samandar, The Emerald City, Tanelorn, Coruscant, El Dorado, Tooner Flats, Numinor, Detroit.
None of them will ever be a home for you.
If there is a place anywhere in the multiverse for a soul that has been baptized in the well of eternity I don't know of it. And trust me, I've looked. You can't go home again.
If you let me lower you into these waters your fate will be your own, and that can be a terrible thing. For whatever happens this point forward will be your responsibility. And if things go poorly you will have no one you can blame save for yourself. Are you certain you want this? I won't blame you if you turn back. There are worse fates than being stone. Becoming like me for example.
Look me in the eye and tell me you want this. Only you can make this choice.
Pause
listener nods
Deep breath
Smooch!
For luck
Splash as they push the listener into the water.
Listener is submerged in the water
Swim up! Swim up!
Fade out
Listener wakes up in inside the speakers home on a couch
Hey. How you feeling?
Head hurts right? And it's not just because of that black eye I gave you last night.
You know you saw a lot of stuff in the waters but you can't remember any of it. That's how it went for me at least.
You'll remember what you saw in time. A little bit will come back to you bit by bit. And It will change you, in ways you might not like. Until then well, ignorance is bliss as they say.
Can you sit up?
Good job, drink this. It's spiced wine, it'll calm your senses a little.
They hand the listener a coffee mug full of warm spiced wine
Like it? I whipped it up while you were napping. It’s not magic. Just calming.
Listener suddenly notices that they have a tattoo of a broken chain on their arm.
Oh yeah I see you just noticed your sick tatt. I did mention something about a debt to me did I not?
Hey! I said my help would cost you didnt I? I mean sure yeah I’m basically a saint, but I still need something in return. That tattoo is just a little forget me not. Something to keep that fresh in your mind. Besides, it looks good on you. Gives you that little bit of edginess you’ve been missing.
The broken chain. It's a symbol of mine. There's thirteen links. One for every second you spent under the waters down there.
You see I’ve been thinking and I’ve decided I need to get more active outside of my garden again and I'm gonna need a….
Hmmm minion sounds a little too hierarchical. So does servant. I mean I’m just an ordinary guy/gal. I can't have a servant. Too rich for my blood.
Let's say I'll need a helper. Yeah helper sounds nice. Somebody to do my leg work while I focus on the more technical stuff. You’ll love it. Give you a chance to get out of the lab and punch something. If this bruise on my cheek means anything you’ve got some pent up energy you need to work out.
Simple proposition really. Every time you run an errand for me a link disappears from the chain. Help me out thirteen times and you’re free to go. Unless you ever knowingly lie to me, that's gonna add another link to the chain. In the meantime you can stay here.
Hey have you ever driven a Hi-Lo? Do you think you could steal one?
Visible confusion
Nevermind, we'll talk about errands later.
Finish the wine and take a nap for a while. You’ve had a rough night. And it won't be your last. For better or worse. You chose to live a life without a destiny.
When you wake up I’ll have an errand you can run with me.
Cheek kiss
Sleep tight Trespasser.

2024.06.09 23:58 OhnoOhno2021 Seizures and random neurological symptoms

34F, no medication, generally healthy, non smoker, no drug use
Please help!
Around 2.5/3 months ago I started to have some odd symptoms happening to me out of know where and that i had never experienced before. I started to get sporadic uncontrollable shaking/jerking that would last 30 seconds to a minute or two. I would also get tingly feelings on the right side of my body. Also, a few times, when I would have conversations with people I would be unable to speak and start to collapse. I was aware/awake for this, however I wouldn’t be able to control my legs and would have to sit down and ride it out for a minute or two until I would completely be able to start speaking normal again like nothing ever happened. After about 4 days of this happening, I scheduled an appt with my family doctor… I have been anemic and thought it may have something to do with it. She said these symptoms didn’t, she did a quick neurological assessment on me where everything looked fine. She said it was weird and that we would keep an eye on thjs for a week or two and to come back and see her if it persisted. After that appt it got worse 3 days later as the full body collapses happened twice in one morning so I went to ER. Doctor did full blood tests and extended and everything came back normal. Did neurological assessment , everything normal. Asked about stress , I told him I’m a stay at home mom with two kids and in the middle of a house renovation but nothing crazy and he agreed this probably isn’t stress caused. ER doctor Talked to the neurologist who said these were seizures and to also do a CT scan just incase. ER doctor told me CT scan was precautionary and they probably wouldn’t find anything. After 9 hours at ER, they found a 15mm by 14mm pineal gland cyst that was slightly to the right of my brain. Doctor told me he spoke with neurosurgeon and that it looked benign… I asked if this had anything to do with my seizures and symtoms and he said no. These findings just happen and not to worry and I should hear from the neurologist and neurosurgeon within a few weeks and that I was also going to be scheduled for MRI and also an EEG. I ended up doing the EEG within the following week. I received the results on my health app, they came back that I had ‘no seizure activity’. I was expecting to hear from the neurologist to go over these results and called the office after a week but was told it must not be urgent and that my family doctor can go over results. It had been about 4 weeks at this point, since I started having symptoms , and 2.5 weeks since I had visit the ER. The symptoms were still happening everyday during all this as I’m patiently waiting to hear from someone, anyone!!! I should mention I’m in Canada so things definitely take slower. I also never mentioned that I am extremely , extremely sleepy. I sleep for at least 8-10 hours nightly, wake by 7am get my kids ready for school and home with my littlest and feeling tired late morning again. I have been taking a nap daily around 1pm when my son naps, I try to do 20-40 minutes so I don’t feel too groggy when I awake but sometimes I’m so tired I just keep sleeping until he wakes. I have tried to skip this nap but by 3/4pm I’m so so tired I cannot function. Again I will feel tired after dinner or around 6:30pm and fall asleep on the couch sometimes for 30 minute Power Nap while my husband helps with the kids or if not I will fall asleep putting my kids to bed. It has now been almost 3 months since this has started happening, I am still having symptoms, this is NOT my normal, I feel so so so tired, I have bad brain fog, I am still having seizures, they don’t happen everyday and some of them are worse than others, where I have a headache after and bad eye pain, all on the right side of my face. I have scheduled visits with my family doctor who is concerned but can’t really help, she says I need to see the neurologist. She called and spoke to the neurologist personally who said he will try to expedite the file but will still be a month-2 month wait. He also told my doctor that it does NOT have to do with my 1.5 cm pineal gland cyst and that I should try to relax as much as I could. I am disappointed as he hasn’t even seen me yet or any of the videos of my symptoms and seizures and he probably thinks it’s anxiety due to my eeg coming back normal. I have also visit the ER again but nothing they could do. I still haven’t heard back about an MRI either. Is there anyone who has any insight what this could be? Friends and family are shocked and when I try to have conversation, I’m not myself, I will be talking notmal then all of a sudden my speech will become slow and I can’t really communicate what I need to say or loose my train of thought for 30 seconds until I come out of it again. I have a hard time recalling names or places and I have my eyes half closed when speaking. When I get sleepy before naps, I will sometimes completely shut my eyes and fall asleep sitting up.
I’m sorry this is long, I think I tried to explain the most I could. Any doctors or neurologist that have any insight? Please! I really don’t feel well and am worried about my health but unfortunately with the Canadian system there is nothing I can do :(
