2024.05.29 02:05 SnooRabbits1909 GI bleeding problems that won't heal? do you experience this or any other chronic bleeding?

My nose used to bleed regularly until my early 30's, when I started to experience heavy bleeding from hemorrhoids in 2017. Now I experience 70% of days bleeding from a prolapse that leaves a lot of blood in the water. I and am working on diagnosed pelvic floor dysfunction and it's proving to be rough.
I need any/all tips to speed up my healing and advice on preventing it from reopening. I take fiber supplements which help for frequency but not the blood in the water. No matter what I seem to burst a blood vessel. I really need help from people who have similar problems, as my doctors are only so knowledgeable.
PS: I posted to a different group and they deleted my post. I really hope this community proves more helpful..!
I have an "undetermined connective tissue disorder" diagnosis from a year with the same Rheumatologist. But I have most of the symptoms of hEDS. Though I am wary of which type and don't want to self diagnose. I plan to find a geneticist once my new insurance starts next month.

2024.05.29 01:53 askok2121 Pelvic venous congestion?

26F. Taking Lithium and Celexa.
I’ve been having irregular periods for a little over a year now along with bleeding in between cycles and painful intercourse. My provider wanted me to get an ultrasound. Here below is the results. Could any explain these to me please? What the heck is pelvic venous congestion and could it be the cause of my symptoms?
TECHNIQUE: Multiple transverse and longitudinal sonographic images of the pelvis were obtained transvaginally with gray scale and color Doppler imaging. COMPARISON: None. FINDINGS: The uterus is normal size measuring 7.4 x 3.8 x 5.0 cm. The endometrial stripe appears normal measuring 0.1 cm. There are a few prominent parapelvic veins noted. Right ovary measures 3.7 x 2.2 x 3.2 cm. The right ovarian volume is normal measuring 13.5 cc. Left ovary measures 3.8 x 2.0 x 2.9 cm. The left ovarian volume is normal measuring 11.6 cc. There is a 1.8 x 1.2 x 1.8 cm partially decompressed and recently ruptured cyst on the left ovary. IMPRESSION: 1. The uterus is normal size. The endometrial stripe is normal thickness measuring 1 mm. 2. There is a recently ruptured a partially decompressed 1.8 cm left ovarian cyst. 3. Incidentally noted there are a few prominent periuterine pelvic veins noted, concerning for possible pelvic venous congestion.

2024.05.29 01:51 MildlyChatty Third time with Covid!

I'm all up to date on my vaccines, so was hopeful I'd not get Covid again. The last time I had it I ended up in the hospital for a couple days with pneumonia.
This time I had initial symptoms that I didn't think were anything important. Started with some nausea, then I had what I assumed was an allergy flare. But, after a day of sneezing and runny nose I started getting worse. Last night I had a fever, so I decided it was worth testing. And I'm positive. Ugh.
Symptoms now are fever, body aches, watery eyes, headache, sinus congestion, cough, fatigue and loss of smell and taste. I'm hoping I don't end up with a secondary infection like last time. It's not good.
Hard to know for sure where I contracted it, but we were at a huge concert venue in Seattle on Friday, so that could've been it. I know a lot of people don't test anymore. Not sure why not, but we get the tests free, so I figure I may as well know what I'm sick with. I wish there were free at home tests for flu and RSV as well.

2024.05.29 01:50 Juzabro Forge of Darkness Chapter 10 Summary

Chapter 10
Location: On the Road to the Citadel
POV: Risp
Risp observes her Captain, Esthala, berate Esthala's husband, Silann. She is pissed that they attacked the Caravan. He tries to explain that one of the guards recognized them. She says that it doesn't matter if a dozen old soldiers are on a trail. He says it mattered to the Guard, but they are all taken care of. No survivors except the boy who ran off. She tells her husband to go find the child. He says there is no point, he'll be dead soon enough. No water or food. She tells him he should be easy to find then. Silann says he doesn't want to kill a child. Risp pipes in that she will lead a troop to find him if necessary. She mentions that SIlann's troop took a lot casualties and that they shouldn't have. Silann says the guards were veterans and one was Gripp Galas. He says he fell to a spear in his back and that firing the wagons was a mistake. Risp does not like the spouses bickering and thinks it gets in the way of their mission. She asks if Hish Tulla is in her keep. If so, she will likely investigate the smoke. Esthala says no. Esthala tells her to take 6 of her own troops and find the boy. If they encounter anyone from Tulla keep to escort them to the scene.
Risp longs for the day they will be in the citadel looking nobles in their faces. She thinks her and her sisters will be the personal staff under Osserc once he takes command of the Legion. The presence of Gripp Galas was unfortunate. He was a footman to Anomander before he retired. She asks Esthala what he could have possibly been doing guarding a caravan. Esthala asks Silann if he examined Gripp's body or gear. SIlann shakes his head and says the spear unhorsed him and his corpse rolled in a crevasse. Esthala asks if he went down and checked if he was actually dead. He said there was no need, he was covered in gore and the crevasse was bottomless. Risp asks, who's gore? Stating that he was stabbed in the back. She tells Silann to get her the soldier who stabbed him. She wants to know what type of armor he was wearing. Silann says the leader of the Caravan killed that soldier. Risp demands to see the spear. Esthala grabs it first and examines it. Says it might have been chain armor and if it severed the spine he was dead, if not he was just wounded. Silann yells that he fell down a crevasse. Risp asks, fell down or rolled down? She dispatches six more of her troops.
Location: Tulla Keep
POV: Sukul Ankhadu
Sukul summons Rancept, the keeps castellan, to the top of the High Tower and asks if he knows about the smoke. "Rancept, it was said, was the offspring of a drunken woman and a sadly sober boar". His face shows that he brawled a lot and his nose was broken and pushed back giving it the appearance of a pig's snout. He is rumored to be a 1000 years old, but looks older. Rancept says that Lady Hish told them to stay put. She said there is trouble coming. Sukul says, it's here and that the burning smells like hides. Sukul fears that it's Orfantal's caravan that has been attacked and wants to investigate. If it's bandits they need to know. Rancept says they aren't bandits. Sukul says she knows and insults him. She says she wants 15 houseblades and a fist of tracking dogs. He says she'll get one houseblade and Risp. She complains that he's supposed to protect her and he says he will. The one will be him. She questions his ability by saying he barely made it up the stairs. He says he's fine except for the nose she keeps trying not to look at. She says fine let's get a horse. He says they will be on foot.
Location: On the Road to the Citadel
POV: Orfantal
Orfantal is alone with no blanket or fire. He feels nothing like a hero. He still feels that he betrayed his horse. He wishes the bandits had cut him down instead of his horse dying. He is very cold and tired. He decides he is not afraid of the dark and closes his eyes. The cold begins to fade. He is jolted awake by a footfall on gravel nearby. A voice says, "there you are". Orfantal tries to run and falls over. The voice says, "Easy! It's me, old Gripp." Gripp touches his shoulder and feels that he is chilled to the bone. He says he has a camp close. Gripp says he wouldn't have lasted the night and what he did with his horse was a smart move because they would not follow him. He picks Orfantal up and takes him to his camp. Gripp has a wrenched knee and a wounded back, so it takes longer to bring him to camp. Gripp sets him down and puts a blanket over him, then proceeds to rub his skin hard. Orfantal pushes him and curls up in the blanket. Gripp says he can't sleep now. He has to wait until he's warm. Orfantal asks if they fought them off. Gripp replies no. Orfantal says heroes always get stabbed in the back. Gripp says not just heroes, then asks if Orfantal can sew. Orfantal says he's seen the maids doing it. Gripp says he needs some sewing in the morning. He also says he may not wake up and if he doesn't to follow the road East, but to stay off of it.
Gripp says they will be hunted. He tells him to take his story to Anomander. Orfantal asks if he killed anyone. Gripp says two on accident. Orfantal doesn't understand and Gripp says it's better to wound. If they have to take care of wounded they won't be as able to track them. Gripp tells him that Haral did well and bought Orfantal some time. Gripp says it took him a long time to get out of the crevasse. He saw what they did to Haral's body. Gripp says he has burned every face into his brain.
Location: Tulla Keep
POV: Sukul Ankhadu
At the gate of the keep Sukul says that Ribs is all bones. Rancept says he has a tapeworm and that skinny dogs live longer. Ribs is 12 and cross-eyed. Rancept took the sword and spear she brought leaving her only a dagger. They open the gate and Ribs goes out scouting ahead. Sukul is skeptical of his ability. Rancept says Ribs knows what we're about. Sukul asks, How? Rancept shrugs and says he goes on occasion with the dog. He goes to speak with the Deniers in the hills. Lady Hish wants no misunderstandings with them. Sukul says they are bandits, Rancept responds that it's a hard life and to think of it as a road tax. She says it's extortion. Rancept replies, "It's only extortion when someone else is doing it". Ribs is waiting in a clearing and as soon they get there, he takes off on a side trail. Rancept says we aren't taking the main path. He also says that Lady Hish has an arrangement with the Deniers. They keep a watch on the paths not patrolled by the Tulla tax collectors. He tells her they can't talk anymore as night carries voices. Sukul complains. Rancept says they can turn around. He tells her to look at Ribs who is sitting ahead. He says Ribs is telling them that there are strangers in the hills. She follows him quietly but is upset that there isn't more grandeur in this outing.
She was sure that Orfantal was lying dead somewhere ahead. Killed only to keep him silent. Lady Hish had hinted at trouble coming and she knew there were lawless people like her sisters. Her imagination of this night is not matching up with reality and she is tired and wants to stop. Daydreaming she bumps into Rancept. Before she can fall he grabs her and pulls her close. He tells her there are riders ahead and to ask no questions. She starts to speak, but he puts his hand over her mouth and says that they wait for Ribs.
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Risp
Risp and her 12 soldier party are using hidden trails made by the bandit Deniers. Now that the Hust Forge was paying well for minerals, most Deniers had given up banditry. Mining was more lucrative. She wonders why the Hust are making more weapons. She knew civil war was coming. Hunn Raal says it will be short. They will kill all that oppose them and then Urusander will marry Mother Dark. She covets command of the Wardens once they are folded into the Legion. She thinks Calat Hustain is only commanding them because he is noble and that he is mismanaging them. They come upon an abandoned denier settlement. One of her soldiers says the hills don't feel as empty as they should, and suggest 4 scouts. Risp agrees. They come to the sight of the fired wagons. The sergeant with the feeling points out the crevasse that Gripp went into and he tells her he thinks Gripp rolled. Risp says she will climb down with lanterns to check for Gripp's body.
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Sukul Ankhadu
Ribs comes back to them and indicates that the Riders are coming from the North and that they aren't bandits. Sukul asks if he knows that from the wagging tail. Rancept says, "That and the drooping left ear." They come to an abandoned village. Sukul asks if this is how Deniers live. Rancept says they used these huts, but that the huts have been here for 5000 years at least. He says about a dozen horses went through here going towards the ambush and that they can take a different trail to go opposite of it. Rancept goes to one of the huts and says there is a passageway. Ribs is a bit scared. Roots have grown across the portal and Sukul wonders how there are roots if there are no trees. Rancept says there is a tree just not in the way you are thinking. Sukul notices that she can see all the details of this place, but that there is no light source. That bothers her. As she gets further in the tunnel, she can't see anything. She comes to an opening and Rancept tells her to stop looking with her eyes. She doesn't know what he means. Rancept says, "This is Dog-Runner magic." She says it's impossible as Dog-Runners aren't this far east. Rancept responds by saying these weren't always Tiste lands. Sukul says Tiste were always here, but that it's not Rancept's fault that he doesn't know that. It's his lack of education. Rancept says, "Dog-Runner magic is all about fire, and earth. Dog-Runner magic fears the sky. Fire and earth, and tree and root. They’re gone from here because the forests are gone."
He says that Deniers have some Dog-Runner blood in them and that they are in a Dog-Runner temple and if she opens her sense she will see that. She asks why Ribs is so scared. Rancept says he has memories of the Ay. He takes her hand and says there is a Dog-Runner witch down here with them. Sukul is alarmed. He says the witch won't bother them, she might be dead, but he thinks she's just asleep. She gives up and asks him to tell her how to see. He says close your eyes. He tells her to picture the cavern and says there are hundreds of large wolf skulls. These are the Ay and they are the reason for the Dog-Runner name. She asks him to describe the witch. He says he thinks she was very powerful. There are offerings to her in the form of jewels and animal teeth. Much of her body has transformed into roots and branches. Her skin is like bark. All the roots they have encountered have come from her. She gasps and says, you cut through them. Rancept says in his ignorance he wounded her. He is very sad about it.
He says the Dog-Runners have heavy facial features, but laugh and cry with ease. They do not understand lying and, "To speak with a Dog-Runner, milady, is to be humbled and to feel blessed". Some Tiste didn't like that. She asks if he believes that she sleeps. He says he believes yes that she is the one. She questions the one. He says Dog-Runners believe that their greatest witch, the dreamer, stayed behind when they left to keep emptiness from the world. Sukul wonders if that is in opposition to Mother Dark. Rancept says that is beyond him. Sukul asks if Rancept is a Denier. He says he doesn't stand against Mother Dark. That's not really an answer, but she knows she shouldn't have asked anyway and apologizes. Rancept asks if she can see what he described. She says yes and, "We stand inside the cavern, like errant thoughts inside a skull." He grabs her hand and says those were not her own words. Sukul says they are in the witch's dream and she is trying to make sense of us. There is danger in this and Rancept says they must leave. She pulls her hand away as she can now see with her eyes closed. She asks if the witch has a name. Rancept says, "she is named Burn. She dreams so that we may live. All of us: Tiste, Dog-Runner, Jaghut, Thel Akai, even the Forulkan. She dreams, to give us our freedom." She asks if he had brought her anything. He says he would have to be a Denier to do that. She reaches for her bag. He tells her to be careful. She takes out a stone from the Dorssan Ryl. For her brother lost in the wars. He says this gesture must not be careless. She may bind Mother Dark to the Sleeping Goddess. He says if she has faith in Mother Dark it will bind them and also the Deniers will be bound to the Tiste.
She asks him why he brought her here. She wants the Truth. He says the Truth is that Tiste schooling is rubbish. She laughs at this. Rancept tells her to put the stone away. He says that burn is a Dog-Runner still and what greater gift could you give her than laughter. She has blessed Sukul. Rancept says she has healed the Sleeping Goddess with her laughter. Rancept is grateful. He says the roots no longer bleed. He takes her hand. They both know she no longer needs guidance, but they are friends now. Sukul says the Deniers need to know of that temple. Rancept says there's no need and that he admits he is a Denier, but doesn't like that word. He says that sharing her dreams he saw a river and that she dreams of it.
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Risp
Risp is climbing down the crevasse. She knew in her gut that Gripp's corpse wasn't down here. She finds his trail and follows it out. She sees that he is bleeding and has a bad knee. Risp's sergeant tells her he went after the boy from here and says they found a chest in the wagons with the Korlas crest. He says the child was likely a hostage on the way to the Citadel. That is the reason Gripp was here. The boy was to be Anomander's hostage. This is very troubling to Risp. Her sergeant now explains the loyalty and pride of house Korlas and she wonders about his loyalty. He says they have to find Gripp and the boy and make it right. Meaning they need to hang Silann. The boy being a hostage complicates the matter and her soldiers have a healthy fear of Anomander. Risp says she must tell Esthala about this change in plans and that Esthala will have to kill her husband, because he couldn't be trusted to keep his mouth shut. She thinks she'll have to kill this sergeant too.
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Sukul Ankhadu
Rancept tells Sukul that 3 riders had been dispatched from the party of Legion riders. He says they weren't part of the killing, but they are all Legion and they don't want to be seen. Ribs is curled up warming Sukul's toes and she now has fondness for the dog. Rancept says they will go to the scene and maybe Ribs can tell them something. Sukul says he's just a dog. Rancept responds, "Milady, he’s my dog." Sukul asks if he is a priest of the Deniers. He says there aren't any and Dog-Runners have witches and warlocks called Bonecasters. She asks if they throw bones. He says it's more like transforming bone to wood or bone to stone. He says they gave the Jheleck the gift of Soletaken. Sukul says she hopes that Lady Hish values him. If she doesn't she will steal him and ribs away. He says that's nice, but he will serve Hish until he dies. Something tells her of a deeper love than just a Castellan to his lady. Sukul asks if Ribs is just a dog. Not a Soletaken. Rancept says just a dog. If he was a Soletaken at some point, he forgot and is now just a dog.
Rancept surveys the scene and is more sure that it isn't bandits. Sukul says, "I will never be one for war" Rancept tells Sukul that the dead are just sacks of organs. Once they die, what makes them more is gone. It's best to think this way when confronted with slaughter. Sukul doesn't like this because if you can see animals and people as just sacks then it is much easier to tear them open. She asks Rancept if there is a smaller grave. He says the boy got away at least initially. She says she thinks they need to see if Orfantal is still alive. Rancept is surprised that a hostage would only have these caravan guards. Sukul says there may have been a reason for it. She asks if his nose can be healed. He says the best way is to break it again and he's tried it 6 times.
He goes to the cairns and counts them remembering that Sukul asked him to prepare food for seven people. He says someone else got away. He says ribs can track him, but they aren't equipped for more nights. He suggests that ribs goes on and they return. Sukul says he's just a dog. She says we should not take the road back to the hold. She doesn't want to meet the rider sent there by Risp. She asks if there are any more secret temples. He responds, "Nothing we’d call such, milady."
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Corporal Renth
Corporal Renth had been given orders from Hunn Raal that no violence was to take place. All plans were on hold. Renth didn't like Raal's plans and had thought about defecting to Anomander's houseblades. He didn't because of his loyalty to Urusander. Renth wasn't bothered by the slaughter or Deniers. They weren't Tiste to him and they worshipped old gods. The highborn were different. They were Tiste. His first group to relay orders to was Esthala. On the way he sees a muddy boy in the middle of his path. Renth asks him if he wants to get run down and tells him to move. The boy says, "I am named Orfantal,’ said the boy, ‘of the House Korlas, and I claim the right of protection.' Renth doubts this and sees a glitter in Orfantal's eyes before he feels a stabbing through his chain. Gripp pulls him off the horse and twists the knife as he pulls it out. He says, for Haral. Renth is confused, but dies.
Location: Outside Tulla Keep
POV: Orfantal
Orfantal is horrified when he sees Gripp spit into the dead man's face. They had seen the rider coming and needing a horse Gripp told him the plan. Orfantal thought they would steal the horse and then pay the man back eventually. Gripp grabs the horses reins and tells Orfantal they would ride to Kharkanas. After seeing the look on Orfantal's face. Gripp gruffly tells him that we are in a civil war now and that is the enemy. Gripp wants them to know it was him who killed Renth and that he was coming for them. He takes out a knife and cuts off the head, then carves his initials into it and tosses it in the middle of the road. Orfantal thinks, "All the heroes are dead. I am lost. We are all lost."

2024.05.29 01:21 LeatherFact Got bit about a week ago, but already taking doxycycline for acne

Hi guys! I got bit by a tick last Wednesday (Upstate SC) and woke up today with a low grade fever, body aches, and chills. The fever went away after a few hours and hasn’t been back all day. I’ve been taking doxycline for about a year for acne, and wondering if I still need to go to a doctor or if the stuff I’m already taking will do the trick? I also spent all weekend in the sun drinking at the beach so originally thought it was just a hangover but my only symptoms in the last 12 hours are aches and chills. Any advice is appreciated, thanks! Also, no visible marks from the bite except for the first few hours there was a small red area but not a bullseye.
Edit: I take 50mg of doxycline hyclate every night

2024.05.28 22:21 Electronic_Owl_5408 Very sick

I am a 73-year-old Caucasian female weighing approximately 185 pounds. I am on quite a few medication’s for high blood pressure pain and anxiety and depression. I’m overall quite well other than pain issues. My husband broke his femur and his artificial hip in January and has been in a rehab facility following surgery since that time. He is 83 years old and there is just the two of us. The first week in May I came down with laryngitis off and on for about 10 days. Felt OK. I am a non-smoker. On 10 May I woke up with 102° fever and many flu symptoms. 2 to 3 days later, I took three Covid test and they were all negative. I had a cough, laryngitis, diarrhea, fever, and chills and achy body. Couldn’t eat, or sleep. I live alone with no close friends in the area. My daughter and family live about 30 miles away and do all they possibly can to help but they work so much and have a family to take care of. I am nauseated and vomiting slightly. My fever continued to get higher and higher and by 20 May, it was at 104.8. I live alone with no close friends in the area. My daughter and family live about 30 miles away and do all they possibly can to help but they work so much and have a family to take care of. I have a nine-year-old Chihuahua in heart failure. She hast to be on meds several times a day and some of those meds require her to be taken out to go potty quite frequently. On May 22, scared that I had something very strange and weird. I made an appointment with my doctor. I had a negative Covid test and a negative flu test they took test x-rays and even though the x-rays weren’t bad she felt I might have pneumonia. I was given antibiotics and told to call her if I didn’t get better in a few days. I did not get better. My fever was gone by 25th of May but I still felt as bad as I had before. I called my doctor today, May 28 and she wanted to see me right away. I would’ve gone to the hospital over the long weekend but I have no one to watch my dog who needs constant care. Doctor repeated chest x-rays and took blood test. My blood pressure it’s fine, my oxygen saturation is fine and I have no fever, but I’m deathly ill. She doesn’t have an answer. With those vital signs, she doesn’t think I need to go to the hospital other than for comfort care. I specifically asked if they would do diagnostic measures to find out what I have. I was told they have a few test that they could perform but that’s all. Decision was made that following more x-rays and blood test today she would call me back, which has not yet happened, and if there’s no reason for this sickness in any of these tests she did in fact suggest I go to the hospital and see what they could do. I have not seen my husband in the nursing home for over 10 days and he is very worried about me and has Alzheimer’s and can’t remember much. He needs visitors badly. I need to get rid of this sickness, but how do you get rid of something, when you don’t know what it is. The first time I saw the doctor I put on two different antibiotics. I still have a day to go on one of them and the other one is gone. And I feel no better other than the fever gone.anybody have any ideas at all what this could be? I need to get well for me and my husband. Thank you for any and I’ll help you can give me.

2024.05.28 22:16 stilln0tbitten How long of a break do you take after being sick?

I was sick for the past week and I am finally starting to feel better. I had the flu with a fever, congestion, and body aches. Currently just have a little cough. The weather this week is phenomenal. Perfect cycling weather. I am feeling down from being inside for the last week and was feeling excited to get into my cycling gear to head out on a ride, but I found an article on Canyon's website saying that after the flu you should wait at least a week after symptoms have gone away to start training again. That would make me miss another week of riding. Well I'm not a pro, just someone who likes to cycle as my regular form of exercise. I'm not going to be doing any nasty climbs or anything. I just wanted to do 15-20 flat miles while enjoying the sun and wind. After googling for a bit, I'm guessing maybe I'd be better off waiting until I was 100%.
How long do you typically wait after recovering from being sick before heading out on your bike? Any terrible (or good) experiences cycling soon after recovering from illness?

2024.05.28 19:59 Lilac-Lover4 Colonoscopy canceled because of mild cold. Is this normal?

Hi. I am on the tail end of a mild cold (tested negative for Covid, no fever) and my colonoscopy was canceled. My only symptoms are a little congestion and an occasional cough. I feel fine enough that I went to work today. I don’t understand why it was canceled and I feel like the nurses aren’t giving me a direct answer.
I’m so mad because I waited 3 months for this appointment and have to wait another 2 months to get rescheduled. I even started the soft foods diet and bought all the stuff for my prep.
Thanks for your help!

2024.05.28 18:52 irascibly_ Why does cephalexin make me feel like shit?

So I (24f) recently got prescribed cephalexin 500mg for a seroma (fluid buildup near an incision site — I had fusion surgery on my spine a month ago) and I have to take it twice daily for seven days.
My only issue is that it makes me feel like shit. I don’t really know how to describe it but all I want to do is sleep to avoid the off feeling it gives me.
I can say that it kind of feels like I’m developing a cold or flu, especially before taking the second dose at night. I shake and feel cold or heat easier than normal and just feel all around sickly, but I don’t have a fever or cough or runny nose or any other symptoms of the flu or common cold.
Is this normal? Has anyone else had this experience with cephalexin? Could it just be the infection that’s making me feel like shit?
Any advice would be much appreciated

2024.05.28 18:31 BlueberryLast4378 H.pylori and medical neglect

Hi all, I just need to share with someone about how I feel. (Not Diagnosed for H.pylori but my experience suspecting)
For the last 6-8 months I noticed my stomach has felt tight, a lot of pressure under my ribs it feels like I've eaten 20 massive meals in one go even if all I manage to eat is a yoghurt or a protein bar. Dealing wit constant nausea, dizziness and feeling light headed in major waves. Ive been suffering with nausea since I was 16 and im 22 now.
Started off with bloating and then the sudden and constant burping started, thought it was reflux or indigestion as my partner suffered from chronic reflux.
I got assessed, doctor assumed it was stomach ulcer and gave me tablets go treat it, said it could be H.pylori but because of my age it's "isn't likely" sent me to get blood tests and ultrasounds done.
The antibiotics didn't help, they provided a little. It of relief but it felt worse after the treatment. Ultra sound showed nothing and the blood test that were ordered they didn't even bother to test for it despite it being requested.
Getting worse now, wake up and first thing in the morning im nauseas, throwing up nearly everyday, constant fatigue, muscle weakness, i can't eat my heart constantly palpatates, I can't walk in a straight line some days I get such bad vertigo. Last few days is constant headaches, sometimes I can't keep water down, I can't focus, I get so sick I can't go to work or I have to go home and its horrendous.
I'm so scared I'm going to lose my job because I've been so chronically sick these last few weeks and months because it's been so debilitating.
Took myself to the hospital the other day because the nausea and headaches and vertigo and the tension in my stomach was so bad my ribs hurt, I felt like I couldn't breathe my heart was racing. I hate going to the hospital but I was so desperate I needed help.
The doctor who was assigned to me didn't even bother trying to help me. I felt so weak I was falling in and out of conciousness I felt like I was going to vomit or fai nt in the bed.
Didn't feel my stomach, didn't do any tests, described all my symptoms and just kept dismissing me saying it was because I have stress and that it's "just reflux" he said to me and I quote: " it could he H.pylori, but it sounds like you just have reflux, because it's been constant for to long we can't help you. I'm to busy"
Gave me reflux medication and kicked me out. I cried in the car on the way home.
Had to go home tonight from work because I felt so sick I thought I was going to pass out, Been having fevers and chills, sweating, headaches.
I've always struggled with gaining weight, mainly due to living with a severe mental health disorder and partly due to my parents relationship with food when I was growing up has formed very terrible and potentionally life threatening habits.
I'm losing so much weight I'm nervous that if I don't grt treated soon not only will it get worse but im going to end up in a ward with feeding tubed down my throat.
I've dropped so much weight that I'm now sitting at 46kg, dropping 5kg overnight, (22yrs, Male, 173cm in height)
I broke down and cried again today, the sickness is getting so much, it's destroying my life it's ruining my work, it's causing me so much anxiety and even more stress.
I can't eat, I have no desire to, the thought of eating stresses, it makes me feel sick. Nothing is appetising and I judt Don't feel hungry anymore.
I feel lost, I dont know what to do. The doctor I see flies interstate once a month (I see them cause I need certain medication) and every other doctor in my city is either not taking new patients or the waiting times to see a doctor as a new patient are around 2 months.
I can't keep living like this it's hell. It's hell being told it's just anxiety and stress, it's hell being told "it could be cancerous, but i really think it's just reflux" I'm tired of feeling guilty and stressed about being so sick I have to miss work or go home early and then spend more money and even more stress trying to organise a medical certificate for work.
I've probably spent around $350+ in medical certificates for work just because of this bacterial infection. Not including the constant repeats and refills for nausea tablets because doctors only every give me a maximum of 10 tablets at a time and some days are so bad I need 2-3 just to get some relief from the constant nausea and dizziness.

2024.05.28 17:46 eemanonn (Please read, really desperate for help and thoughts) I believe that people with severe and chronic dpdr who have no anxiety or history of trauma have an underlying medical condition that could somehow be causing their issues.

My story
I was born with a heart murmur which went away but left me with exercise intolerance, this led to me spending most of my time in the house or riding bikes and stuff, doing stuff that wasn't too intensive because I couldn't play sports or anything, this is something that never went away but got worse in 2019 which I will explain later.
First incident:
When I was 13, I had a cold in gym, I decided to shoot the basketball around a little bit. When I did this, I spaced out and it felt like time was skipping around me, I now know this to be dissociation. This was the first and only time in my life that I remember dissociating. When this happened I sat back down. And everything went back to "normal" after, but it didn't. When I went home this day, I noticed something strange, my vision was a little foggy and my eyes felt like I was looking at stuff but not exactly at those things. What made this even more weird, is that I begin having what I know now to be "painless ocular migraines" they would start in one eye, engulf my vision, and then go away, this never happened to me before what happened. For clarification, even though I grew up with the inability to exercise, I always had fun and had a relatively good childhood though I did grow up poor, it never bothered me.
What do you all think happened medically that caused this weird permanent change in vision and visual perception?
When this happened to me, I suffered no neurological or cognitive issues, everything was normal, just looked a little different due to the hazy vision. Went to eye doc, diagnosed with mixed astigmatism, doc explains that my eyes are always technically straining. Very mild prescription that changed over the years, now I just have regular astigmatism. The glasses made my vision sharper but did not get rid of the haziness and closed eye haziness. He told me I didn't have to wear the glasses because my vision was 20/20
Second incident: Neurological issues and worsening vision. Age 19
So the ocular migraines only lasted that year, I would noticed sometimes that if my vision began to look weird, like transparent blurry spots similar to how the migraines used to look, I would drink water andcaused it to go away. My head sometimes felt weird. Take note, this is not the hazy vision, that vision has been permanent every since that day in gym. Th reason I think underlying medical conditions is due to the progression of these symptoms over a long period of time (17 years), and how new symptoms appeared and when they showed up.
Okay so the second incident brought the most disturbing symptoms. I was in my room, doing something in very poor lighting where my eyes could not focus on a fixed point and required a lot of concentration, I was also hunched over during this period of time, for about an hour. Afterwards, I noticed that I felt weird, like a little off but couldn't put my finger on it. I felt a little slower than before cognitively. There was no visible change outside from the hazy vision that got hazier. I felt as if things sounded a little different, or more so, I was not able to fully comprehend it exactly. I now think that this was maybe some light form of derealization or something? And had general brain fog in the way that I described earlier. To me it seemed like I strained my eyes in a way that for some reason threw something off. These symptoms never went away, I got used to it, and just lived my life slightly dumber than before.
New symptoms that arose from this incident: my head got hot easily from wearing stuff over it like hats, and ears got hot from earbuds, like my head was getting stuffed. I've told this to some people who have mentioned things like chronic silent migraines to them and even epilepsy. Things feeling off and weird perceptually, like adding on to what happened at age 13. Memory issues. I would sometimes randomly get thumping headaches from changing positions, like laying down to standing and always saw phosphenes when standing up.
What do you all think happened here?
Third incident: Age 25
Went to movies late one night, didn't want to put my head on the back of the seat because something was on it, sat with forward head posture throughout the film. Next day, woke up picked up my phone, immediately started to get pressure at the back of my head. Sat up, turned on my game and I game I had been playing for a while, was all of a sudden the now causing me to get headaches. I thought maybe something with my vision and ignored this problem. Next semester in college, I noticed that my vision was worse than before, like noticeably hazier. So I schedule a basic eye exam. Doc tells me just minor astigmatism, and that I'm a glaucoma suspect for some reason, I don't think it was due to increased ocular pressure, maybe something with the nerves? No change in cognition. To this point, aside from the mild cognitive issues that arose at age 19, I never had any issues navigating through life. Also developed pots like symptoms at this age.
Fourth and last incident: Progressively worsening cognitive function, Head pressure that would only present with screens, appearing pretty much all the time. Progressively declining mental clarity that worsens with each day. All of my senses feeling changed and dulled, not being able to focus on anything (an increase from what happened at 19, to a extreme degree).
Again, the reason I feel this has a medical background is due to the progression of these symptoms. No history of anxiety or substance abuse, never drank, smoke, done drugs, anything, no traumatic childhood experience.
Will keep this one short. Over the last year, I had been playing games more up close on a 43 inch TV, like within a few feet of the screen. I learned to ignore the head pressure I got from screens because I can't just not use screens. So over the past year I had noticed that my vision was getting hazier and hazier, had another eye appointment, doc says prescription hasn't changed, weird, I just knew that my eyes had gotten worse this time because I played for hours a day, not intensely but my I always had the head pressure which my brain just got accustomed to. Maybe this constant tension caused some kind of damage over time? So the incident when everything changed. a game I was playing dropped a new endless mode with duo experience, I only played it a few times but got bored, and dropped it for months. It was a very stressful mode with a lot going on and a lot of enemies to kill, the mode was called Endless Archive and the game was ESO. So I randomly in February of this year decide to play this game once more, which would prove to be the worse decision of my life and begin a downward spiral of horrible cognitive detachment. So I was playing the mode, it's duo so I didn't want to bail on the other person when tired. Played for a few hours and eventually we died. I'm like phew, finally, say ggs and get off the game. I never use eye drops because they always seemed to make my eyes more fatigued, but this time I decided to put in some preservative free eye drops because it was a more intense session and I was getting a little stress fatigue while playing. This has happened several times in the past but nothing new, only the eye drops. So next day woke up, went out to go for a walk and felt off, my eyes were extremely heavy. So I'm like, that session last night was intense so I'll take a break from gaming to let my eyes recover and just chill out, I was really locked in to the game and was playing with forward head posture. I didn't dissociate or anything during the game, remember I haven't since that one incident in age 13, it was just a random intense gaming session. So I noticed that over the next week I was feeling more off and couldn't put my finger on what was going on. I was looking at words on my wall off in the distance because I used them to track my eye sight, making sure I was blinking properly etc and that they weren't like glossy or anything. So over time, my senses started to become more dull and I was feeling more off or detached, like a very gradual change. I thought I was getting sick, but I hadn't been sick in over 10 years so I knew something wasn't right. So I get on reddit, go to the brain fog subreddit, type what happened and many people were saying more than likely just strained neck muscles. So I did neck stretches etc to no avail for about 2 weeks and things were getting worse and worse by the day. Its like everything was stable until this point, and this changed things again. I went outside and noticed something I hadn't before, lights were brighter, not like photophobia, but like specifically lights from headlights and car lights hurt my eyes and were a little brighter than before, which never happened before. And like my eyes are just off, like I can not focus on what I am looking. If I stare at something for more than a second, my vision immediately starts to blue, I have to keep my eyes actively focused, this causes my head at the back to hurt more.
Unrelated incident: I haven been getting worse by the day for months, everything has been worse , but recently I went to dentist for a cleaning, and unfortunately the ultrasonic cleaning tools left me with permanent tinnitus, which is horrible because my cognitive decline was already severe. Never had tinnitus in my life and my brain cannot get used to it due to the fact that my brain is in constant decline. I have been extremely suicidal as a result of this. And nothing I have done has had any effect, which is why I think there is a physical cause behind this.
Medical procedures done:
CT scan of head, no tumors or bleeding
Cervical and thoracic X-rays, slightly scoliosis
B12, good range
So, I have one of the more severe forms of dpdr, where I am not dissociating, but am becoming more and more detached from my memories, have no mental clarity, all of my senses feel dulled, outside from the tinnitus which also has gotten me some hyperacusis in my left ear from that dental cleaning I wish I never got. My life is a literal nightmare right now. Not only that, but the way my symptoms are, is that they are prologressively getting worse by the day. The reason I think people who have long term dpdr has some medical reasons behind it, is because their dpdr tends to be different from what other people experience.. for example, I have no tunnel vision, my cognitive decline is like that of a dream because of how spaced out I am, and like my brain is trying to accept this as my new reality but can't at the same time. Every day my vision seems to be a little more off.
I haven't never ever been a anxious person, like at all. However the tinnitus has definitely flipped my world upside down because I now never have peace of mind. But you can go back and read my posts from a month ago and see how I was still declining rapidly before the tinnitus, all the while being extremely level headed while searching for solutions. Half the people I talk to believe I have something else that is causing this, my exercise intolerance, possible chronic silent migraines that my brain is trying to cope with. Others believe I have dpdr. But the issue with this sub, is that most people here believe that dpdr, is simply caused by substance use or anxiety and that nothing can help. About a month ago, I looked up a video of this guy on YouTube, I think he was called Jordan hard grave or something, and he talked about severe dpdr symptoms in like a 40 minute video. I watched the video and literally could not relate to any of the symptoms as described by him. I will find the video that I watched and like it here. So I am hoping that some of you, perhaps who have suffered from progressively worsening chronic dpdr, especially if you have recovered, to help me figure this out, and ask that you keep an open mind to the possibility of dpdr with a physical cause behind it. Thank you.

2024.05.28 17:17 shallah HPAI A(H5N1) Transmission Among Dairy Cattle in the U.S.: New Findings and Safety Measures - NYAS

Implications and Recommendations
These reports underscore the need for comprehensive HPAI A(H5N1) surveillance in agricultural settings. While cattle infections have been reported by the USDA to be generally transient with mild symptoms, the potential impact on milk production and food security is significant. The risk of ongoing viral evolution and broad transmission among cattle could lead to further mammalian adaptation. Although human infections from cattle seem to be rare at this time, the burden of infection necessitates detailed assessments of human spillovers, especially in areas with current or prior outbreaks. This includes serology to establish spillover rates to humans and monitor for changes in spillover frequency.
While the general public’s risk remains low, those at higher risk include individuals with routine or frequent contact with potentially infected birds, livestock, other animals or contaminated animal products and environments (e.g., farmers, livestock workers, animal handlers, employees of milk and meat processing facilities, milk or carcass transport drivers, and veterinarians).
Human infections with H5N1 can occur when the virus enters the eyes, nose, or mouth, or is inhaled. This can happen through airborne droplets, small aerosol particles, or dust that settles on mucous membranes. Infection can also occur if a person touches a contaminated surface and then touches their mouth, eyes, or nose. Exposed individuals should monitor for symptoms within 10 days, including fever (100°F [37.8°C] or higher), chills, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing/shortness of breath, eye tearing, redness, or irritation, headaches, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, and diarrhea.

2024.05.28 16:57 hurricanes2 PLEASE help me: chronic spotting

I am on Loryna (generic for YAZ)
I am not asking for medical advice, just asking if anyone else has experienced this and how’d they stop chronic bleeding
I started BC (Loryna) in Sept. of 2023 for my period cramps/flow. It was a godsend! It really helped. My gyno warned me of the common and not so common symptoms, mainly the breakthrough bleeding. I experienced 0 instances of breakthrough bleeding! I actually had no symptoms at all. Was living life chill.
That was, until Feb of 2024. I caught a nasty flu and was taking Tamiflu, pseudoephedrine, and Tylenol as needed for aches/sore throat.
In the middle of being sick (and in the middle of my pill pack), I noticed break through bleeding but didn’t think much of it because my body felt like crap. It ended and then started again after I got my “period” at the end of that pill pack.
It did that throughout March/April, then started becoming more consistent. It was dark brown in nature, kinda sticky/dischargy, but sometimes more liquid-y.
Now, often when I wipe it ranges from dark brown, to light pink, to red. It isn’t a lot a lot, but it’s definitely there! It strands to drain a panty liner a touch.
Throughout this I noticed an odd smell on and off. Not exactly yeasty or fishy, but strong chemically.
I went to my gyno and she said it could be BV. She She also told me if the spotting didn’t stop withinn the next few months, to call her and she could switch me to a new pill, Nextstellis, which she says I think I could do well on.
Now, I am a little nervous about switching because Loryna was working SO well for me until this spotting stuff came up. I also have heard iffy things about Nextstellis, specifically headaches.
I am wondering if ongoing spotting could be caused by forgetting to take the pill occasionally? I work in a library and sometimes shut my alarm off if need be (I usually take it at 8:30pm). When I work a late shift, sometimes I totally forget then just take it immediately the next morning when I remember. I’ve done this a handful of times. I used to be REALLY strict about it before I started to work.
Could this cause ongoing spotting? And if so, how long does it take to self regulate if I get really strict about the pill times again?
Anyone who also has chronic spotting, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you so much!

2024.05.28 15:34 Murky-Two-378 Breathing Issues

Stats: 39f, non-smoker. Clean and sober for 3 years. Zero health issues before COVID in early January.
Daily meds: Zyrtec 10mg, sometimes with half a Benadryl at night with Flonase and Azelastine. Prescribed albuterol, trelegy and a nebulizer.
Currently: All these meds and I still have trouble breathing doing basically nothing inside. I’ve limited going outside down to watering the plants and letting the dogs out. Have an air purifier in the bedroom and clean weekly with a professional deep clean of my home monthly. There was a cat in the home, but was rehomed three months ago after my allergy test came back positive. Several cleanings have been done since.
Symptoms: Constant throat clearing worsening to asthma like fits with dry cough and limited production. Typically I wake up with sinus pressure and congestion, but after the meds - that goes away for the most part. Constant chest tightness during the day - no deep breaths without pain. Sharp, deep pin like pains in chest when trying to slow breathing or catching my breath during an attack. Dizziness on and off through the day and especially during the attacks. Extreme fatigue. No fever, body aches or chills. No wet wheezing and no nausea.
Doctors and others: Went to the ER and was treated for walking pneumonia with zero results. X-ray of chest showed no fluid. Pulmonologist told me I have post nasal drip and that it was allergies. I suggested that it was a combination of long COVID and allergies, but was put off. (COVID nearly took me out, which is why I said something). He put me on a 5 day dose of Prednisone to see if that helped. If it did, it just barely helped. Allergist set me up with what I’m taking now daily. Gastroenterologist wants to do endoscopy (for acid reflux) and colonoscopy (family history). He also prescribed meds to reduce inflammation in my esophagus, which I haven’t started.
Looking for suggestions before moving to imaging and more expensive options.

2024.05.28 15:13 AmethystHime So tired of favoritism in the work place

(Prefacing this with, yes I am looking for another job) So I called in sick (I work at a pizza joint) yesterday with a fever, sore throat, and nasal congestion (it's worth noting I'm prone to passing out when I have a fever and the shop is 80-90°F every single day, 100°F near the oven) and call out policy requires us to call 4 hours in advance and find coverage for our own shift. I was supposed to work a closing (5-c) shift, (not as a manager, just as the employee that sticks around and helps clean and what not), contacted work at noon and asked manager for help finding coverage as I don't have everyone's contact info, was told if I can't find coverage I have to work my shift, I proceeded to contact the only two people who weren't working to no avail because they didn't respond. I decided to just not go because I cant even keep my nose from dripping for 5 seconds. I did my due dilligence and I tried. I know they require a doctor's note for sore throat and fever but how can I even aquire one when I don't even have healthcare (cause I can't afford it and job doesn't even provide it unless you have worked there for a year or you're a manager). I have a walk-in care bill I haven't paid and the doctor might refuse me since I haven't paid it. Still going to try to go to the doctor and get a note, though. But yet one of the closing managers can NCNS once a week or every other week and doesn't get punished for it?? Same place also gave me a verbal warning for not wanting to travel during a massive snowstorm (I have a 30 min commute). I can't take the workplace, lack of healthcare, and lack of employee rights in this country (USA) anymore. It's not worth risking my life for a job that pays me 60 cents over the minimum wage. Any advice on how to handle this in the future?

2024.05.28 15:09 Rvarachael FTM exploring possible causes...

Our daughter is 10 weeks old and has started displaying new behaviors the past couple weeks.
For the first week of life, she was breastfed and fed Similac 360 total care and seemed perfectly fine. Yellow, seedy poops. Then we switched to exclusively formula.
A couple weeks later, she started only pooping once a day but it was a struggle for her ALL day and every poop was so much, we had to resort to the bathtub for clean up.
Pediatrician switched us to Enfamil Gentleease. She no longer struggles to poop all day and has gone 1-3 times a day, but it has been consistently light green and watery.
She's usually an extremely chill baby, but a week and a half ago, she started getting super fussy. I wouldn't say colic because she can be soothed quickly, but it's just hard to keep her consoled, and we can't put her down at all without her getting upset immediately. She also developed a cough around the same time but has had no fever.
She's squirmy during feeds now, is always gassy, and pulling her legs up to her belly, her farts smell pretty bad, and she spits up more frequently (but not a whole lot). She gets a small cluster of hives on her neck from time to time, but we just assumed that it's from sweat in her little fat rolls.
I'm not asking for a diagnosis, but if anyone else has experienced these symptoms? Is it normal for a milk allergy to ramp up around this time? We have an appointment next week, but all the possibilities are driving me crazy. (And honestly, I want to post this so I don't forget anything when I have to talk to the pediatrician about it!)

2024.05.28 14:52 teatreeteas First Outbreak questions

Hi there ya’ll. On Day 5 after learning of my genital HSV-1 diagnosis, probably day 6-7 since the start of my outbreak. I have some questions of timeline/intensity/symptoms of outbreak. For reference, I’m going to put a timeline of my symptoms.
2 weeks ago: I got a really bad sore throat - thought nothing of it. Was a little run down, and just pushed it aside. Lasted a week.
Last weekend: Had sex with partner, noticed sex was a bit painful and had a difficult time getting wet.
Tuesday of last week (7 Days ago): Still had a bit of a sore throat, swollen tonsils, but also started noticing BV or yeast symptoms. Also noticed a pain down there - thought it was just a tear from dry/rough sex (assuming that this was Day 1 of outbreak).
Wednesday: Woke up with a 103 fever, chills, night sweats, sore throat again, flu symptoms. Went to urgent care and was tested for strep and tested positive. Started taking amoxicillin.
Thursday: Same symptoms as day before: More fevers and flu symptoms. More pain in genital region, noticed swollen groin lymph nodes and what I thought was razor burn down there. Original “tear” felt worse.
Friday: Went and got tested at clinic for HSV, tested positive. Doc had to pop/open all of the lesions I had down there and that hurt a ton, I think may have restarted healing process. Started taking Valacyclovir and Lysine.
Over the weekend, sores hurt more than they did before I got tested, leaking a lot of discharge (which might be from internal lesions) and they burn when I pee.
It is now Tuesday the following week and I still have funky discharge, literally leaking and it ITCHES like crazy down there. It’s still painful too, I think in maybe more spots than it started.
So questions: - Does the itching mean the sores are healing/scabbing over? - It seems I’m on Day 7 of outbreak, Day 4 of valacyclovir, how much longer can I expect this to last pain/itch wise? - Are there any ways to speed up process besides what I’ve been doing? - How careful do I need to be when showering/wiping/etc? I have been obsessively watching my hands every time I wash down there, and use a separate towel to dry down there each time I shower. Will sores spread just from the lesion discharge alone or is it just the bumps I need to worry about when touching?
Thank you in advance guys ❤️ This community has been awesome this past couple of days.

2024.05.28 14:28 MeanEffective681 35f drastic sudden joint swelling all over after sudden onset severe body aches/fever

Hoping you guys can answer so that I don't go to urgent care and have no answers (ours is usually not helpful unless it's a very obvious regular dx like flu or broken bone). I have a primary but even for sick visits, they are booked a few weeks out. Trying to avoid the ER unless it becomes an actual emergency.
Conditions: gerd (nothing else yet)
Don't smoke or drink. No rx currently.
Timeline:
Flew (within the US) 2 weeks ago for a funeral.
11 days ago (5 days after flying) developed low grade fever with chills and intense body aches along with joint pain and stiffness, but aside from slightly runny nose/scratchy throat, no other symptoms. This went on for about 4-5 days, then rash (flat, splotchy/webbed, mostly showing up on sweating or showering and still pretty faint except near groin/lower half of trunk of body) appeared.
2 days ago, that rash disappeared but joint stiffness and swelling increased markedly. Itching hands and feet (same very slight, flat rash but only with heat). So bad that I can't do simple things like open a bottle of water without help if I've just woken up or get too warm.
TldR: full body joint stiffness/tenderness with obvious swelling in hands and feet in otherwise healthy 35f nonsmoker after a period of low grade fever and severe body aches/joint pain w rash 11 days ago.
Tests done: multiple covid tests, all negative

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a condition marked by symptoms including nasal congestion, clear runny nose, sneezing, postnasal drip, and itching in the nose. The allergic response presents in early and late-phase reactions. Diagnosing allergic rhinitis primarily relies on clinical assessment through a comprehensive history and physical examination, often supplemented by intradermal allergy testing. Treatment options include pharmacological interventions such as antihistamines, intranasal steroids, leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs), and immunotherapy. Intranasal corticosteroids are commonly used alone or combined with oral antihistamines to manage mild, moderate, or severe symptoms. First-generation antihistamines, like diphenhydramine, chlorpheniramine, and hydroxyzine, and second-generation antihistamines, such as fexofenadine, loratadine, desloratadine, and cetirizine, are available choices. While LTRAs like zafirlukast and montelukast may offer relief in allergic rhinitis, their efficacy falls short of intranasal corticosteroids. Among these treatments, budesonide stands as the only FDA-approved option for pregnant individuals experiencing allergic rhinitis symptoms.

2024.05.28 14:01 sbuzzy4 Long term nose bleeds

Does anyone know if long term nose bleeds have any relation to jaw surgery?
I had double jaw surgery back in 2021 to correct my underbite. Top jaw came forward and bottom jaw went back with 16 pieces of metal holding my jaw together.
Previous to the surgery, I had never gotten a nose bleed in my life. Post surgery it was a given that there was a lot of bleeding/burising around my mouth and nose then I would get the occasion nose bleed during recovery.
Fast forward 3 years post op I am getting extremely frequent nose bleeds and the only thing I can think of is because of the surgery. And I mean very frequent. I had 6 nose bleeds today and have been getting them every day the past couple weeks-ish.
The only other symptom I’ve noticed is my jaw feels sorta tired like there’s some light aching.. no actual pain or discomfort but I can just feel my jaw is a bit tired if that makes sense.
Does anyone have experience with this or know of nose bleeds years after surgery? Should I be concerned? Is it worth going back to the surgeon?

2024.05.28 12:48 Ambitious-Fruit-1927 Urgent? Referred for CT colonoscopy after rectal bleeding & GI issues (33M smoker)

33M, 300lbs, smoker. Diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder
I take the following medications per day:
2mg Propanolol 3 tims daily as needed
45mg mirtazapine once daily before bed
Flucitasone nose spray 3 times daily as needed
I also have been eat a Keto Diet in order to lose weight since January of this year.
Starting in April of this year I have been experiencing some issues with my bowels, and I’m looking for some insight. Anything would be helpful at this point.
Starting midway through April I had some painful bowel movements, and on one occasion I found a significant amount of blood after wiping. At that time I had
A virtual appointment with my Doctor, and I was prescribed Proctol ointment. 2 weeks later I went back to my doctor for a follow-up appointment because
While the bleeding had stopped I was stlll experiencing discomfort when sitting down, pressure inside of my anus, and occasional discomfort when passing stools.
On my second appointment my doctor told me to start taxing laxatives, and continue to use the Proctol ointment. My doctor then told me to come back if my
symptoms hadn’t resolved in 2 weeks. Since then I have only seen a minor improvement, but I have been noticing other issues in addition to the pain and
discomfort.
Currently my symptoms are as follows:
  1. Discomfort when sitting down, it feels as if there is pressure on my anus/tailbone.
  2. Inconsistent bowel movements:
My Stools are often somewhere between a 4 and a 7 on the Bristol Stool scale On days when my stools are closer to a 4 they often come out broken up into chunks I will sometimes have various different bowel movements over the course of a day(i.e., sometimes I will have a normal bowel movement, and then a few minutes, to a few hours later I will have full on diarrhea) I have also experienced constipation lasting for a couple of days, and then out of the blue diarrhea.
  1. I have also been having difficulty digesting certain foods. For example, tomatoes, spinach, red peppers, will all come out looking similar to how hey went in.
  2. Mild bloating, and
Last time I saw my doctor(prior to yesterday) she instructed me to book an appointment if I was still experiencing symptoms, and after 2 weeks I called in to
book an appointment. 2 more weeks have passed and I went in to see her yesterday. During my appointment yesterday I spoke to her at length about my symptoms, and she
referred me to a specialist for a CT Colonography. I was surprised by this as I expected she would perform a Digital Rectal Examination, but that never happened.
I guess right now I have a lot of questions that I don’t have answers to, and I am hoping I could get some assistance in sorting this out. How worried should I be right now? Is the fact that
she referred me to get a CT colonography without any other testing in between a bad sign? How likely is it that I have cancer based on the symptom I have described?

2024.05.28 12:45 ThrowRAdebate7722 Currently going through a lymphoma fear

I’m a 28M 175llbs Non smoker No medication
So over the last week, I’ve had everything from tension headaches, low grade fevers (which are likely reason behind headaches) random episodes of chills / goosebumps feeling even though it’s warm out. My most recent symptom for the last 3-4 days now is a dry cough which seems to be worsening. Then last night the one I was fearing most, night sweats…I went to bed with them already on my mind, and course the minute i start to drift off I feel my body beginning to excessively sweat, to the point where my underwear was getting damp, so I fought to keep myself awake out of fear of falling asleep and letting the sweats take over and drenching my bedsheets. It took me a while to sleep after that but when I did (for a few hours) I managed to not sweat, just felt hot when I woke. I’ve ended up calling sick to work today because this has all got to much for me now, any advice?
