Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity is an officially recognized disability in Sweden (this is not recognized as an illness because no diagnosis exists for this condition).” Professor Johansson gave the example of a head ache “ how can one measure the pain or prove the existence of a head ache?” Sweden ranks in the top 10 in the world for healthcare. 2024.05.16 22:59 coldfeelings011200 Rewatching: Why doesn’t John B just coorperate with the police?

Look, these are just my thoughts…
All of John B’s suffering, the man-hunt and troubles in the Bahamas could’ve all been prevented. I get the show wants to show is something cool and all, but this really bothers me now that I’m rewatching for the 3rd time and start to notice details. I’m sorry for the long paragraph, but these are my thoughts on this:
First of all, after surviving the attacks from Ward with the fishing hook on the yacht, John B could go straight to the cops to tell them what happened, Peterkin would’ve protected him. Even though he ran out of gas on the jetski, he went somewhere else instead. Peterkin would’ve known it was Ward who killed the 2 outsiders in the beginning, because the guy from the morgie said they were likely killed by a fishing hook.
Second of all, he could’ve persuaded Lana to go to the cops WITH him, to testify against Ward.
And third, after Peterkin was shot, he could’ve stayed even though Rafe was dangerous. Ward would’ve called on Peterkin’s radio and they could testify right there and then. This seems highly unlikely as Ward would’ve stalled anyways. Only if the other 3 stayed and watched from a distance, it would’ve all ended differently.
Also, when John B ran away from the airstrip and almost got ran over by a car, he could’ve asked the guy to bring him to the police station ASAP because the Sheriff has been shot. I’m sure the guy would’ve driven him to the police station.
Finally, he went to the police station, WAY too late might I add, to tell them who shot the Sheriff. If only he cooperated with the cops, as intimidating as it sounds, he could be detained and maybe spent a few nights there. When interviewed, he could’ve told his story, let Sarah vouch for him, which she would most likely have done, and maybe even get Lana to testify for him as well. Lana might’ve been scared to do so because of Ward (and probably Rafe as well), and maybe his friends could’ve also testified because they would do so 100%. So in Peterkin’s autopsy, they might’ve found the bullet if there was no exit wound and if there was an exit wound, they could’ve searched the airstrip since they also HAVE to conduct an investigation at the crime scene, aka the airstrip. Big chance they find the bullet, after which they could trace it back to which kind of gun was used, check the register or get a search warrant for Tannyhill after all the leads they got from the “witnesses”. If they found the gun, they could trace tracks of fingerprints, hair or maybe even saliva to find the one who shot Peterkin. After Rafe is then arrested, John B would walk out of the police station as a free man, teenager, whatever he likes.
Also he could’ve told the cops he found the gold, show them the evidence, which is those 3 molten bars which they couldn’t sell and stole back from Barry, and tell them Ward stole it and Sarah could tell them to where, their Bahama house.
The way it all went baffled me, to say the least. The first 1-2 times watching I wasn’t noticing this that much and it was cool and fun to watch, but I just wanted to share my thoughts with you Pogues/Kooks. Either way, John could’ve been free, not hunted, not stolen from and maybe rich (If the government wouldn’t take the gold) if he did what I described above. The government of whom the gold belonged to back in the 1800’s might’ve put a claim on the gold and maybe even give them a finder’s fee or the gold would end up in a museum if they mentioned the gold to the cops and got the Bahama police to retrieve the gold from Ward’s Bahama house.
Anyways, thanks for reading and I am really curious for your guys’ opinion.

2024.05.16 22:59 max_db I think I have depression and the stupid thing is I think I've had it for a long time.

I thought I would post this just to vent and get this off my chest really.
I recall getting low moods during college, I used to sometimes go to the beach at lunch and just watch the waves.
I think what triggered this was my mum dying when I was 13. My Dad wasn't around much and I was just left to overcome it all by myself really as there wasn't much in the way of counselling back then.
In my late teens I used to to clubs/pubs etc drinking a lot then I met someone and tried to settle down. Things didn't work out and I think this was partially due to depression as I want to push people away and distance myself.
After this I was single for 3 years then met my long term partner, who we have 2 child together. Looking back depression reared it's head again when my son was about 3 years old on and off up to present day.
During this time same things happened, low mood, irritable, getting up late at the weekends, gf doing all the cooking and most the housework, distancing myself from people and get togethers.
During the last year it's been tough, we got a new pet dog we've struggled with as hes been hyper and destroying everything and my gf has a health condition that's got worse.
Today shes said she wants to call it today and I feel broken. It feels like the depression (if that's what it is) is all coming out.
I'm hating myself right now as I've never told anyone about it and have failed to act. It just let everyone down and my life is just wasted.
I've tried to do stuff to keep me busy in the past such as buy car projects and do solo trips but on the flip side there's not been much family life as there should of been.
Tomorrow I plan to register with a doctor and tell them about it to try and get this under control as I feel like it's too late to do anything by myself.
If anyone reads this - speak about it seek help if you can and don't leave it too late. I'm now nearly 40 and falling apart.
I really don't know what to do next apart from seeing a doctor - anyway talk over.

2024.05.16 22:59 Extreme-Zebra2362 My boss just fired me on the day i said i would go on leave

Good day everyone! Im a 21F and I work as a virtual assistant for a insurance company in the US (im not from the US). I book patient appointments, translate span-english for patients during their medical appointment, prepare documents and send emails. To give more background, i left my old job almost so quickly after i got accepted here (the recruited me while i was still with the old company and had promised me growth & was telling me they hope to work full time with me).
Today, i am on leave because I will be doing other important stuff. I made sure to tell them 2 weeks before hand and they acknowledged that. Out of nowhere, while i was eating, he emailed me saying that my employment status has changed and that they no longer need my services. He mentioned one of the reasons was “on-going performance issues” but all he did was praise the work i did. He would always tell me that i did good translating for them and that i am organized with the way i work and all that. 1 possible “performance issue” i could think of is when i had an emergency in the hospital and I was not able to go to work that time. But thats it, and we were able to talk about it the next meeting. Therefore, I assumed we no longer had an issue. Btw this boss is very understanding and direct when it comes to our meetings, i am still in shock with the way he handled this.
When i checked the work email, apparently they already had replaced me with another bilingual VA.
However i do have some questions:
  1. Is it normal for US employers to just fire you that way?
  2. Is there anyway I could get back at them? What would you suggest I Do?
  3. Any thoughts?

Am I reacting badly or is the glycolic acid doing its job?
Pic one is normal Pic 2 and 3 is a few mins after a 6% glycolic acid toner
My smallish pores on my cheeks became big and hole-y, face felt warm and it turned red. It never used to happen! Happened for the first time last year so I stopped and tried again yesterday but it happened again. 😭 it also happens on my neck and arms and doesn’t happen on my legs. Is it just penetrating me or is it a bad reaction? My skin went back to normal in the morning and was nice and glowy 😭

2024.05.16 22:59 SchlommyDinglepop First checkup since diagnosis

I was diagnosed mid February with T2 after going in for some other minor medical issues that I had been putting off. I tested with over 1,000mg/do for glucose in my urine. So they asked me to come back immediately for blood tests. I went back the next morning and my fasting glucose was at 375. My A1C tested at 12.8. I was devastated. I knew it was genetic. But I always thought I'd have more time.
I'm happy and relieved that I can celebrate a bit of a victory today. I got my A1C down to 6.3 from 12.8. Literally everything that they measured has slid back to "normal" ranges. There has been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in the last 3 months. But since diagnosis, I've woke up determined to break some habits and give myself the best chance possible for someone diagnosed at the age of 39. Due to having an 18 month old son, I couldn't be more ecstatic with how far I've come and that the hard work has really paid off. Now, i just have to maintain my momentum and not let go.
Thanks to those in this sub that actually try to help. Especially when an open mind is needed more often than not, since everyone's formula for success is not the same. Keep up the good fight y'all. Much love.

2024.05.16 22:58 supermazdoor Dock Mode Setup for 30W and AMD Freesync On

I've seen this question popping up here in the sub many times so I thought it was time I could share what setup works best for me.
The main goal is to have 30W mode and VRR ( AMD Freesync) in docked mode in an external monitor.
  1. Get this Dell Monitor S2522HG (1080p x 244hz AMD Freesync VRR enabled)
  2. Try to get this dock or its other Chinese rebranded equivalent on Amazon. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BN8HBC59/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
  3. Buy this charger (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C1FZWT8M/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8)
  4. Most importantly buy this cable DVI (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VVJZJ2P/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
The 4th point is most important because there is a lot of confusion between HDMI version and DVI versions and standards. In order for VRR to work (at least for me, the monitor in point 1 only comes with DP cable 1.2 which is useless. However the monitor can only support VRR via DP cable 1.4. Hence needless to say the DP cable that comes with this monitor is useless.
Optional: Logi keyboard and mouse combo with logi+ software for key customizations is great. For e.g. you can assign command center for quick access using cent mouse click.
Thats it. Plug everything in, using the DP1.4 with freesync on in AMD software. One last thing, just change the VRR refresh rate in windows settings to 120hz VRR which is Ally's native.
Enjoy!

2024.05.16 22:58 Content_Bet_205 insurance issues..?

my new doctor was honored to offer me wegovy for weight loss and it seems for some reason she has kind of went silent. I’m not sure why I’ve been calling and messaging several times to figure out why my pharmacy is not able to give me the prescription yet, since she doesn’t wanna give me any updates or communicate with me, the pharmacy keeps faxing her office to try to get to the bottom of this. come to find out it has something to do with insurance coverage. I currently have Medicare as my primary, and I have Medi-Cal as my secondary with health net. I just spoke with someone at the specialty hospital where my doctor is and she told me that the doctor input some sort of note on the whole situation in my profile that the primary Medicare is probably not going to cover it, but I do have Medi-Cal.. which a quick Google search says at least in California, it is covered under Medi-Cal fully.. I’ve also seen lots of comments and posts on here saying the same thing, Medi-Cal does cover it.. I’m just hoping that the doctor and her team are smart enough to see that I have Medi-Cal as the secondary insurance and to try to run it through my secondary so that I can actually have it. The reason she put that I need it is due to obesity, she said it required a reason so that’s what she put? I am not prediabetic. I am not diabetic, but I do have PCOS that is diagnosed, i’m 5’3 weighing 190lbs.. i’m sorry for the long rant it’s just been stressful.. calling and messaging and seeing my messages are left on read. this appointment took place about two weeks ago. I didn’t think it was going to be like this. :(

2024.05.16 22:58 andara84 Help needed: media player on repeat on multiple devices

Hello everyone!
I've stumbled upon an unexpected issue with playing media on Amazon Echo devices. The use case is an Alarmo alarm using an Amazon soundbit, that's supposed to play on repeat on all devices for a certain amount of time once the alarm is triggered.
I'm having a bunch of issues, but the most agonizing one is this: I'm able to play a sound bit on repeat on one device, and I'm able to play a sound bit on multiple devices. But if I try to play the sound on multiple devices, it won't repeat.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on here?
This is the code:
repeat: count: 2 sequence: - service: media_player.play_media metadata: {} data: media_content_id: amzn_sfx_scifi_alarm_01 media_content_type: sound target: device_id: - 1a08820d0fcafb65924f9d072b32cf3f - aeab9a1399c9a53c864666bbb44af95c
I'm running a Raspi 4 with Core 2024.5.3 and OS 12.3, using the Alexa Media Player integration.
Hope I added all info that might help. Thanks so much in advance!

2024.05.16 22:58 Shad0w_7 upgrade from t3i, researched many many options unsure which ones are worth pursuing.

Hey, I know there's a bunch of posts here, I've been spending hours doing research on what to upgrade from, currently have an old T3i, as well as a host of random film cameras I collected this year (OM10, SV, Spot & SpotF, Kiev), mostly upgrading because the T3i has really bad lowlight and abysmal video. Budget was around 1.2k, for body and lenses, so was targeting around 700-900 for the body and was looking at a bunch of options:
Wanted to be able to take a bunch more photos so a smaller compact body would be nice, loved the tiny compact nature of the OM10 & Stylus, and hate lugging the T3i around, but wanted something that I could swap lenses on so no X100f or Ricoh, potentially use my collection of vintage glass on, but that's not a huge consideration. would be doing night/day shooting, cityscapes, less portraits but possibly some? i love doign wildlife and potentially some video. I tend to do nature and animals the most. Want to get into video more, so a hybrid camera biased photo would be great. I can edit raw files and somewhat enjoy it but i've heard great thing about fuji film sims and with less time, would be happy to do either.
what i found for 600-1000 body range: a6400 - portable, solid img quality a6100 - cheaper a6400 a7rii - apparently really great? mid af good video but bad battery life, which might not be the best a7sii - video version/cheaper a7rii a7iii - probably too expensive, better video and photo than a7rii, potentially possible from fb marketplace in general ff might be too big? but i've herad these 3 esp the a7iii should be the best capabilities wise (my computer is incredible and I have no issues dealing with lots of footage) x-t3 - better version of an a6400 with slightly worse af, film sims x-t4 - probably too expensive better x-t3 same sensor? x-e3 - very portable, similar sensor to othe rfujis x-100f - not interchangable :( eos r7 - probably too expensive, incredible APSC but locked to RF glass eos r8 - entry level ff, is the a7iii better for the same body price? eos rp - heard its alright, fits my budget, possibly a better version of the a6400, with FF eos r10 - heard it's a pretty bad version of the R7?nikon z5, something else? nikon zfc/z50 - really nice film looking body, but worse specs than xt-3 for the same price
I know there's a ton of options that are APSC FF and all sorts of different form factors and brands, apart from 7 from 1970 and two kit EF-S lenses I have no vendor lock or preferences, (student, t3i was family's old camera and I got all my film cameras from a garage sale for $50 lol) and just want a really solid starting point, that I could buy a bunch of lenses around.
Was just looking around and kept finding cameras, and then finding other ones that were supposedly better, and then comparisons, so I end up with a huge list and a bunch of people on the with slight preferences, so just curious. In terms of what feels the best imo the smaller the better, and I'm very used to pretty unergonomic heavy metal film bodies, so most things are easily adjustable. the t3i feels great in my hands for reference, I should probably try some of these or their predecessors in a camera store, but there's just so many, curious which ones are worth pursuing

2024.05.16 22:58 karinamarinasarina Should I go back to retinol? Help

Posting on here for some advice on whether to start using retinol again… I have a long story with acne and getting perioral dermatitis recently - really need some advice
For context, I have struggled with acne my entire life, from the age of 11 I was on multiple treatments including creams and antibiotics to try and control my spotty and oily t-zone. At the age of 17 I had a terrible break out on my cheeks, it was really severe and I had never had acne like that before. After numerous things I ended going on the contraceptive pill and that completely cleared my skin. I was on the pill for about 5-6 years but it really affected my mental health, depression, anxiety and mood swings were horrible so I finally came off it before the age of 23.
When I came off the pill I became quite nervous that all my acne would come back, I began getting spots here and there, and after seeing the rave about tretinoin online I decided to give it a go. It definitely wasn’t the best decision from me, I got the retinol uglies, I went in with 0.5 which was definitely too strong too quick and I was losing hope after a few months. I think my skin was just TOO exfoliated, I couldn’t figure out a routine and I think I was using too many products.
I then switched to Dermatica and got prescribed Adapalene 0.2% / Clindamycin 1% / Niacinimide 4% This felt better but my skin was continually peeling, it looks glowy now that I look back on pictures but I was still getting spots. Nothing drastic but I was definitely searching for that glass skin look.
After 6 months they switched my prescription and removed the Clindamycin (due to resistance to that ingredient I think you can only take it for 6 months). This was before Christmas time in 2023, the weather became really extreme and my skin suffered. I thought it was just the weather and I would lather in moisturisers and continue to only use Dermatica every 3rd night but my skin would not stop peeling. I contacted Dermatica and told them my side effects and they said that my skin is just getting used to it. I began to get a dry patch near my mouth which slowly got worse, I thought this was because of the weather but I got a lot of redness around my mouth and looking online I felt like I had developed perioral dermatitis.
Long story short I did have perioral dermatitis. I stripped my skincare routine to be VERY minimal and began taking antibiotic, I was prescribed Lymecycline from my doctor for 3 months, I also started using Azelaic Acid after following Dr Sam Bunting advice online.
Now that I have finished my antibiotic, I am still continually getting spots, it almost feels a tad worse now that I’ve finished the antibiotic (Lymecycline is also prescribed for acne as well as POD). My skin feels really clogged and my forehead just has a lot of tiny spots, I keep getting breakouts and I just want to not have to deal with it all the time, it feels NEVER ending that I have acne for the rest of time at the moment.
Here is my current skincare routine:
AM - Wash face with water - The Ordinary Caffeine Solution under my eyes - The Inkey List Azelaic Acid 10% - The Inkey List Vitamin C 15% (just started using this to brighten marks) - The Inkey List Niacinimide (for my oiliness) - The Inkey List Omega Water Cream (if my skin is feeling moisturised I don’t use this) - Paula’s Choice Clear SPF 30 Fluid
PM - Remove make up with The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm - Wash face with Dr Sam Bunting Flawless Cleanser - Dr Sam Bunting Flawless Neutralising Gel - this has 2% salycilic acid, 5% azelaic acid, 0.5% bakuchiol, 5% squalene (started using this in the past week now that I have finished my antibiotic and I only put it on my spots, most nights in the week) - Sometimes I may use Paula’s Choice BHA or AHA (probably once a week and not at the same time as the gel above) - Cosrx Snail Mucin (if my skin is feeling dry or I have used an exfoliator) - The Inkey List Omega Water Cream OR Aveeno Oat Restorative Night Cream
Treatments: - I’ve got the Omnilux Red Light Therapy mask and I use it a few times a week (my skin feels very hydrated and plump from this) - I’ve been using a high frequency wand a few times a week on my spots
I’ve been contemplating using The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% maybe once or twice a week in the evenings, but I’m just really nervous and not entirely sure whether it’s worth it. My skin did look good on Dermatica (apart from the peeling) and definitely way less clogged than I feel now, so I feel really tempted especially hearing that retinal is really good.
Considering I’ve been using Azelaic Acid daily for 3 months now I feel like my skin is slightly less sensitive, but I’m VERY worried I will fall into a trap and over exfoliate if my spots still continue, I’m a stress picker and I just want them gone so if one appears I just need to do something to it. I’m also very scared of the retinol uglies, I’ve started a new job recently and I’m definitely worried it will crush my confidence on a daily, as already I get quite down about spots.
Does anyone have any advice if retinal is a good idea?

2024.05.16 22:57 vgkln_86 Barbell strategy with options day trading and fixed term accounts.

I have been day trading options for 3 years now. So far profitable, and seeking to max out my day trading account for another 2 years.
According to my calculations, I can semi-retire at that point and go full early retirement 2-3 years thereafter.
I will then continue with day trading, downsize my lifestyle where needed, and enjoy my free time.
Any extra cash will go directly into short-term fixed accounts.
Has anyone adopted the same or similar strategy?

2024.05.16 22:57 Mysterious_Unit6331 Should I sell my rentals?

Context: in 2022, I inherited a building with 4 doors on it free and clear. Since then I’ve put nearly $70k worth of improvements in it because of how old and dilapidated it was.
There’s still more that needs to be done, however I do have it in a rentable state.
I currently live in one and rent the other three out.
Between the 3 that are rented, i get $3050/month.
Current value On my building is $400k-440k.
So why do I want to sell?
Honestly, I’m exhausted. It seems like every time I’m starting to get ahead, something breaks in this building and I have to spend thousands to get it back on track. Not to mention the constant fear of it burning down because I can’t afford insurance on it because my area is ridiculously expensive right now. I’d really not like to deal with it anymore, I’d like to sell it and just be able to buy a decent home for my fiancé, dog and I to live in.

2024.05.16 22:57 rxchelwillixms Not my post

7 things you need to know (share with anyone still in GME or AMC)
7 Things everyone on this ride needs to know, and remember:
1) If you’re still in GME/GMC, you don’t understand what is happening and you’re going to lose your shirt from here on out. GME and AMC went up because people got excited about Roaring Kittly’s twitter account. That’s called “hype,” and it’s not sustainable. That’s not what’s happening with FFIE. FFIE is a Short Squeeze
2) A bunch of people on the internet agreeing to buy small amounts of a penny stock together and then selling it when it goes up is called a “Pump and Dump.” That’s not what’s going on with FFIE. FFIE is a Short Squeeze
3) Shorting a stock means you have sold stock to someone with a promise to deliver it by a certain date, and you’re hoping to be able to buy it for cheaper on that day
4)36million of the roughly 40million shares have been shorted, almost entirely by hedge funds who hope to get rich when the company goes bankrupt
5) If the price doesn’t go down, it will force the hedge funds that have shorted the stock to purchase the stock at MARKET price in order to fulfill the sales that they contractually entered into when the stock was lower
6) If 95% of the stock has been shorted, then the people who actually own the stock hold he key to the price, because hedge funds are forced to buy at whatever price is available
7) The only thing you can do to hurt the cause is sell before the the hedge funds start covering the their short positions.
If you want a number to sell at, that’s up to you, but it’s worth noting that the all time high market cap was $4billion. If we hit that number the stock would be worth about $100/share.
Buy, hold, sell only after the shorts start getting covered.

2024.05.16 22:57 lorienne22 I don't know what to do, or rather what I can do, but I need to do it soon. Maybe my situation sounds familiar?

Looking for advice on becoming OE if anyone is feeling froggy. I just don't know what I could do, but debt keeps slowly piling up and there's no good end in sight. Crap keeps happening and we add a little more debt each time. You all seem to have yourselves together, but I also think you are working with more knowledge & experience in the fields that make OE possible. I'm going to apologize for the length in advance.
I am 46. Intelligent, but far too dumb to do anything with it in high school when I would have qualified for full free rides to college if I'd put any effort into it. They called it gifted and put me in special & advanced classes. I outscored the valedictorian on the advanced grammar final without studying. This is relevant; I swear. I just want to lay out what I'm capable of despite the path I put myself on due to early poor decisions.
Graduated at 17 despite no effort (I started school early; back then you could do that if the kid tested high enough), working full time right away in food service. Got pregnant at 18, got a job at the bank. Started as teller and ended as the Vault Manager. Over the next few years, I did switchboard for a large construction company and Club Secretary for one of the local country clubs. Turns out I thrive in support roles. I'm a people pleaser.
Still in my early 20s, I was a legal secretary for eight years specializing in everything but criminal and domestic. I can do transcription, correspondence, and manage calendars. I can create pleadings, estate planning documents, rental and purchase agreements, corporate filings and even some PI work. Mostly my dictation for creation of documents went like, "We need a will. Use the Smith's as an example. Each other's PRs, then the daughter. Everything to each other then the kids, per stirpes. Separate share trust with distro at 25 and 30." I cannot create a full will with all the legalese, but I can edit an existing template to fit the customer. By the end, I was reminding the atty of the provisions he was forgetting to add to some agreements.
After that, I started my Exec Asst gigs. Three years for the CEO at a healthcare facility until they eliminated my position and four years for the President of a manufacturing facility. That's when they promoted my boss, he headed back to Germany, and I got the boss from hell. He fired me for refusing to come in on my day off to work for free (not to mention the subtle fat shaming). I guess they do that in Belgium, but not here buddy. HR tried to tell him. He didn't listen. I'd not been fired before, but I was mad and took the free vacation.
After unemployment and my little settlement, I took a small job as a receptionist seven years go because Exec Asst jobs are not a dime a dozen in this Midwest region and I didn't want to waste all of my savings being lazy. I tried to leave within a few months because I did find something better that still had quite a commute, but my employer had issues in the past filling this role so they threw a bunch of money at me to get me to stay. I've been answering a busy phone on top of other tasks I was assigned once they realized that I could do more than answer a phone, but still got exec asst pay. Only recently were they able to find another receptionist so I could focus all my time on being the boss' asst. I guess four lines lighting up at once isn't something everyone can handle.
I have a lot of down time while on the job, in office. I can't do remote for them because most of my job is harassing my boss to do his (the joke is he pays extra for the harassment), and another physical job is impossible because the commute is just over forty-five minutes each way. I have an eleven hour day. I'm physically driving for an hour and a half, I'm lunching for an hour, but I'm only actually working about 2-3 hours on some days while I'm here. I do like it, especially the people and my boss(es) are great. It's not overly challenging unless you count flighty customers who can't seem to decide what day they want my tech to fly there for service, and I don't have to take stress home. Kids are grown, so I only need to be in the room with the spouse for "quality time" once I get home at 6pm.
I'm proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, Google office programs, I've learned some user-unfriendly management software over the years like SAP and Prophet 21. It's been awhile since I've done much Adobe, but I can get through it and make some damned good looking business cards. I book travel and coordinate meetings, I plan events, I create flyers (Canva for this because I'm not that creative), etc. Basically, lots of support tasks and I just figure out what I don't already know. That's what Google's for, right?
I've not done any social media management nor QuickBooks, but I think learning one of those might put me in the direction I need...maybe? Seems like those might be things that would make finding remote work easier, but I'm only speculating. I want to ask you all, but that seems rude...and time consuming.
I need something either sporadic enough or with enough deadline leeway I could do it on my down time or even a tad after I get home in the evening if I couldn't get to it during the day. I was thinking Virtual Asst, but that market seems flooded with people from overseas willing to work for nothing. I can do cheap tasks, but I can't work for $5/hour. Maybe reach out to some law offices for spill over dictation? I did do that over my unwanted sabbatical through a service. I think I'm going to have to learn to market myself, maybe. I do still have a foot pedal.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do you have advice for me on how to get started? Do you have a suggestion for what I could pull off based on what you read about me? Do you have suggestions on things I need to do/learn before I even attempt something?
Any knowledge you wish to bless me with would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.16 22:57 Organic_Respond9898 I need some advise

First of all: this is the first time for me posting something on reddit (I also didn't know that I couldn't change my name after creating my profile....). I'm quite introverted so I mostly just look what others are posting as I'm too scared to post something myself but I realized that I can't really solve this problem on my own so here we are.
TL;DR: Five months ago, my best friend started being transphobic towards me when I came out as trans. I tried to ignore it but eventually realized our friendship was toxic. Recently, he apologized after another friend confronted him. However, his apology feels insincere, and I'm unsure what to do. I want to avoid him but I don't want to avoid my other friends too and eventually loose them by doing this. Seeking advice on how to handle the situation.
About 5 months ago my best "friend" at the time suddenly started being really transphobic towards me and said a lot of really transphobic things to me. At the time I've been starting to come out to the closest people to me and was out to him for about a month or two.
I tried to just push past all of this for about 4 months and tried to avoid the trans topic as best as I could because he also often acted like we're still best friends. It took me a long time before I realized that our "friendship" had already ended and wasn't really something to hold on to. For some reason I just didn't really get that I should just leave this "friendship" and still wanted to be his friend because I don't have that many other friends. Eventually I figured it out though and started avoiding him as being with him made me feel quite uncomfortable. However, avoiding him also led to me being pushed away from my other friends as he'd always be around them. It was also hard to avoid him as we're in the same class at school and always sit next to each other (we can't really change where we sit).
A couple of weeks ago he suddenly started texting me again and said a lot of really dumb and transphobic things to me. Whenever he'd do that during the whole time I always tried to talk as collected as I could and tried to explain how things are for me and just "argue" about this normally because I fully understand that it is hard for people to understand this situation when they're not trans themselves. He never really listened to anything I tried to tell him and just said that whatever I was saying isn't "real" science or just works that way in my "woke Disney head".
About 3 weeks ago I came out to a very accepting friend who's also in my school and I also told him about the transphobic "friend" as he knows him too. To make this more understandable let's call the the accepting friend D and the transphobic "friend" H. D was really shocked from what I told him about H and also got really pissed that H because of what he said to me .
About one week ago H went to D in one of our brakes and told him that I'm really weird to him and avoid him just because of a "little disagreement". D got really pissed when H said it was just a "disagreement" and told him that not accepting someone for who they are and saying really hurtful things to them isn't a disagreement at all. During the next break H tried to get D on his side and told him that I always bothered him with this topic and annoyed him with it and acted like the victim saying that he isn't transphobic at all and that I just made up everything. D didn't really believe all of that but still asked me about it.
I showed D some screen shots of my conversation with H (which was really great that I took them because H deleted all his transphobic massages in our chat). After that D got really pissed at H again was now fully at my side and wanted to help me out with this situation. H realized that he couldn't get D on his side and then suddenly send me an apology after five months of being like this to me....
To be honest the whole apology didn't really sound real but I still don't know what to do with this whole situation. He suddenly did a full 180° right at the time when he realized that also other ppl. like D don't like his "opinion" and now H expects everything to just be normal again and said that I'm an important person to him and that he does not want to loose me. I actually wanna avoid H but I don't want to be pushed away from my friends because of this and be alone again.
Can I have some advise on what to do? I know that I still have to decide on my own what I'll do with this situation but could really use some advise as I currently don't really know what to do.... Also: I apologize for the long read and if some things might be hard to understand (English isn't my native language and this topic really gets to me....)

2024.05.16 22:57 fiti1a Bad jerking when changing gears

I have a 05 malibu 3.5 V6 and it's been jerking between gears, mostly park to reverse and to drive, then gear 1 to 2. Sometimes 3 to 4 but not usually. My mechanic father in law just changed the plugs and wires, got a new-to-me used transmission, and just changed the MAF sensor. The only error from the check engine I have right now is o2 sensor which I have the part for, but FIL says it won't solve the jerking. We don't know what else it would be.
The only other thing I can think of is that when I looked up my VIN online to see what transmission I needed it was apparently wrong from the one in my car, but it's been doing this with the old and new-used transmission. It didn't do it when I first got the car. And it seems to shift better in cooler weather (slight jerks instead of bad ones), but I'm in Texas so that's not a lot of the time in May.

2024.05.16 22:56 Same_Efficiency9832 Finally passed it

Hello guys,
I have recently passed the OSCP exam and decided to give something about my experience back to the community as I have always looked out for this kind of posts when I was learning. It took me around 8 months of almost every day learning.
Previous experience: 5 years of SOC experience, Comptia S+,N+,Pen+. Before security I was developing games in Unity with C# and GameMaker with it's proprietary language.
Learning materials:
Exam experiences:
1st attempt:
Had a fixation on the AD and could not find my way in for initial access.
After 10 hours of struggle getting it, I finally switched targets to a standalone, rooted it in 1 hour and something then went to sleep. I could find the entry in the AD in the last 3 exam hours. These were enough for me to get in, privesc, move laterally but I did not have time for the last privesc.
I was chaotic in my attacks, not having a solid methodology and doing the same thing multiple times due to not keeping track of what I already did.
Final score: 30 points (although I was a few commands away from passing)
At this point I had all exercises done, all challenge labs except skylark done + a few from Tj Null's list
I immediately started working on my methodology and the way I track progress and previous attempts. I then re-did OSCP A,B,C labs (not very helpful, it did not feel like I was doing them again for the first time) and fully completed the Skylark challenge lab.
2nd attempt:
I could find my entry into the AD quite fast but was stuck there before I could elevate my privileges on the first machine. After 10 or so hours I again switched targets to a standalone, rooted it in 1 hour and something and then went to sleep. Upon waking up I went back to the AD but could not make any further progress.
Final score: 30 points while being further away from passing than in my first attempt...
At this point I had done all challenge labs and all pg practice boxes in TJ Null's list
I must admit that this hurt me pretty bad since I had no idea what hit me. Being into this position, I decided that although I did not pass, I should submit the report that cointains what I could compromise and all attempts of advancing my attack into the AD, so I can get some kind of feedback of what I should do next.
I was then of course, told to re-read most of the pen-200 pdf's modules.
I took the advice since at that point I had no idea of what to do next. I read the guide again from page one to page 870+ to make sure I catch everything. It took 5-6 days. While reading it I could see stuff that I did not see while reading it the first time and these findings included possible solutions to my second exam's blocking point.
After finishing the guide again, I rooted all intermediate level boxes in the PG Practice platform. I even had a streak of 10 machines rooted without a single hint. I was quite pleased with that progress and scheduled my 3rd attempt.
3rd attempt: I got the same AD set as in my 2nd attempt. One of the possible solutions from my research worked and I got to advance my attack into the AD. I finished it 2 to 3 hours total.
It then took me another 2 hours to fully compromise a standalone machine. I was stunned at having 70 points in under 5 hours.
I took a big break to eat well and went back to try and get that 110 score. After 4 more hours I rooted another standalone. I then took another break and tried for 3 hours to get on the last one. I was getting somewhere but decided that it would be better to just go sleep for 5 ish hours and focus on good notes of what I did so far.
I could not sleep well due to having nightmares of bad stuff happening to my computer but it still helped. Drank my morning coffee then proceeded to revert and exploit everything from 0 while taking very detailed notes with screenshots and console input/output.
The report writing took around 10 hours total. I also used some of the report time to sleep better and do it as best as I can.
My advice:
I hope this will be of use for some of you, I wish you the best of luck in your learning journey.

2024.05.16 22:56 UofTComputerEngineer My thoughts (and tips) on every course I took so far (UofT Computer Engineering)

I've recently completed my third year of computer engineering at UofT, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the courses I've taken. I hope this will be beneficial to incoming first, second, and third-year engineering students. My area of depth is 6 (Software) and my areas of breadth are 4 (Control) and 5 (Computer hardware/networks).
Difficulty: How hard it was to comprehend course material and/or complete practice problems accurately. Keep in mind that difficulty is subjective but I tried to eliminate personal bias and be as objective as possible.
Workload: The amount of work to complete outside of lectures (labs, assignments, homework, studying for tests/exams).
All engineers take the exact same courses in their first year first semester and similar ones in second semester. I took these courses in 2021 during covid so some information might be outdated.
First Year Semester 1:
APS100 Orientation to Engineering:
Difficulty: 1/10 Workload: 3/10 Course Average: N/A
There is no technical material in this course. All coursework consists of Ethics analysis, creating a schedule for time management, creating your resume, and discussion board participation. During tutorials, the TA typically asks behavioral questions to the class and covers slides pertaining to engineering principles, the learning environment, test readiness, and related topics.
APS110 Engineering Chemistry and Materials Science
Difficulty: 6/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: B
This course blends elements of chemistry, physics, and mathematics, requiring lots of formulas and memorization. The assignments and online quizzes were moderately difficult. Not sure if he’s still teaching but Scott Ramsay was a really good professor. Really enjoyed watching his video demonstrations.
APS111 Engineering Strategies and Practices I
Difficulty: 3/10 Workload: 6/10 (Variable) Course Average: B
Students are organized into groups of 5-6 and are assigned the task of developing a solution for a client, following the engineering design process. Success in this course heavily relies on your team. Throughout the semester, there are several milestones where you need to submit large reports with your team, making it crucial to have capable teammates. Many teams resorted to last-minute cramming the night before each milestone (not a good idea). Additionally, there are two peer reviews, so make sure you contribute to avoid being perceived as an unproductive member. In most cases, you don’t need to worry about this though. You’d likely all be good friends by that point (and give each other a perfect review).
CIV100 Mechanics
Difficulty: 9/10 Workload: 9/10 Course Average: C+
The consensus among most students in my year was that this was the toughest first year course. It's incredibly calculation heavy, with questions that may appear straightforward in theory but require multiple steps to solve. Even a minor error can screw up your entire calculation process. The assignments are extremely time-consuming, and the quizzes pose significant challenges. I suggest you work in a group for the assignments. Furthermore, both the final exam and midterm were exceptionally difficult.
MAT186 Calculus I
Difficulty: 4/10 Workload: 4/10 Course Average: B
If you’ve taken IB or AP this course will be a breeze. Even without that background, it's still relatively straightforward. Very little on integrals, mostly derivatives, rates of change, and graphs. PCEs and WebWorks were trivial, and the midterm and exam were easy.
MAT188 Linear Algebra
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 7/10 Course Average: B-
The majority of the course revolves around relatively straightforward operations on matrices and vectors. However, it does introduce abstract concepts like higher-order dimensions, which may require some deeper thinking to fully grasp. Webwork assignments were slightly more challenging compared to MAT186's, and completing assignments took a while. Once again, you should work with a partner or as a group. Pay attention in the MATLAB practicals because you’ll be using MATLAB pretty often in future courses.
First Year Semester 2:
APS105 Computer Fundamentals
Difficulty: 6/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: B-
If you’ve taken programming in high school, you will likely find this course very easy (2/10 difficulty). The course covers simple programming syntax, along with basic sorting algorithms, without delving into more advanced concepts beyond linked lists and binary trees. I think that this was one of the more enjoyable courses of first year.
APS112 Engineering Strategies and Practices II
Difficulty: 5/10 Workload: 7/10 (Variable) Course Average: B+
This course is essentially a continuation of APS111, but with the added component of being assigned an actual client with a real-world problem statement. Each group works with a unique client, and at the end of the term, you present your final report directly to them, along with your supervisors. As with APS111, the quality of your team plays a crucial role in your success. Another thing to note is that unlike APS111, there were multiple individual assignments to complete on top of your team reports.
ECE110 Electrical Fundamentals
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 6/10 Course Average: C+
Definitely one of the harder first year courses. This course marks your introduction to circuits. Topics covered include capacitors, Ampere's law, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws, AC/DC circuits, magnetism, Thevenin and Norton equivalents, and more. The material is extensive and requires thorough understanding, as many future courses will build upon its concepts. Make sure that you understand the content well, given its foundational importance in subsequent courses.
ECE191 Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering
Difficulty: 0/10 Workload: 1/10 Course Average: N/A
Seminar course. You just need to show up to the lectures (one per week) and submit a 100-ish word report about what you learned.
MAT187 Calculus II
Difficulty: 6/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: C+
The workload in this course is comparable to Calc I, but the content is more challenging (obviously). It delves deeper into integrals and introduces concepts like ordinary differential equations and polar coordinates. But again, you’ll manage just fine if you did decently in Calc 1, and especially if you’ve taken AP math or IB HL math.
MIE100 Dynamics
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload 4/10 Course Average: C+
I personally found this to be the most challenging course in first year, but it seems that most people disagree with me. It shares similarities with CIV100, but you’re instead dealing with dynamic systems (moving) rather than static ones (not moving). Some concepts may prove difficult to grasp initially. However, if you focus on memorizing the relevant formulas and understanding when to apply them, you should be okay. Expect an emphasis on physics in this course.
Second year was the worst (for ECE) and a very big step up from first year. If you struggled in first year, you better lock in for second year.
Second Year Semester 1:
ECE201 ECE Seminar Course
Difficulty: 0/10 Workload: 0/10 Course Average: N/A
Another seminar course, except you just need to attend 7/10 lectures to pass. Most students just scan their Tcard at the entrance then leave right after. The lectures are pretty useless except the Magellan one where they show you how to choose courses for 3rd and 4th year.
ECE212 Circuit Analysis
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 8/10 Course Average: B+
This course provides a deeper exploration of circuits, extending beyond circuit solving to include frequency and sinusoidal analysis. Questions tend to be long so careless errors will cost you. Personally, I found the labs challenging, particularly because they required working with oscilloscopes at a higher level than I was used to, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to use that thing.
ECE241 Digital Systems
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 8/10 Course Average: B-
This hardware course focuses on the foundation of hardware. A lot of the content is at the fundamental level so it’s not too hard to comprehend. However, the main challenge lies in learning Verilog, a hardware description language. I hate Verilog. All the labs are done using Verilog, and frustratingly, the course provides no instruction on the language, nor are there many helpful resources available online. This lack of guidance made what should have been straightforward labs much more difficult. Thankfully if you are in CE, you’ll never need to take another course with Verilog again. The midterm was easy but the final was borderline impossible.
ECE244 Programming Fundamentals
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 7/10 Course Average: B-
This course is the sequel to APS105, delving into more advanced concepts like pointers, constructors, polymorphism, and inheritance. Many of these topics may feel familiar if you have prior programming experience, particularly from high school. Consequently, if you're already proficient in programming, as many computer engineering students are, you should be able to navigate through this course well. The labs were generally manageable, although a couple of them were time-consuming.
MAT290 Advanced Engineering Mathematics
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload 8/10 Course Average: B
In this course, you’ll learn a lot of miscellaneous mathematical concepts that will be relevant in future courses. The goal is to establish a strong foundation to facilitate understanding in third and fourth-year courses. There is also a quiz every week. They were terrible from a time management standpoint, but as long as you spent 3-4 hours per week completing the assigned textbook questions, you should be alright since one (out of two) of the questions on the quiz is guaranteed to be an assigned textbook question (at least, that was the case when I took the course).
MAT291 Calculus III
Difficulty: 9/10 Workload 9/10 Course Average: B-
The entire workload comes from studying for those damn weekly quizzes, much like MAT290. Personally, I found it to be one of the most difficult courses I've ever taken. Think of calculus 2, but now everything is in three dimensions, encompassing concepts like surface integrals, flux integrals, and more. Additionally, the course introduces abstract topics that I still struggle to grasp. Balancing the demands of this course alongside everything else was an incredibly stressful experience.
Second Year Semester 2:
ECE216 Signals and Systems
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload:7/10 Course Average: C+
I think everyone hated this course. It was so poorly taught and the midterms felt haphazard and unpredictable. I relied on the power of BS to pass (worked surprisingly). Other than working with many graphs and MATLAB, I don’t remember much about this course because it was so uninteresting.
ECE221 Electric and Magnetic Fields
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: C+
This course serves as an introduction to fields, while also expanding on the principles covered in ECE110. Many concepts build upon intuitive ideas, such as the repulsion of identical charges and attraction of opposite charges, which can make seemingly complex topics less intimidating. There are also many procedures that you need to know to solve specific types of questions. The labs are generally straightforward. You just need to follow the steps on the lab worksheet and answer a few simple questions from the TA.
ECE231 Intro to Electronics
Difficulty: 9/10 Workload: 7/10 Course Average: C+
This course is basically circuit analysis but significantly harder. It combines everything you've learned about circuits thus far, introducing new topics on top of that foundation. There are so many new concepts to learn and the final pretty much tests you on all of them. I’ve encountered multiple scenarios where I saw two concepts that I thought were completely separate from each other being integrated into a single question on an exam. Also very calculation heavy. Despite my experience in this course, I must admit Khoman Fang was a great professor.
ECE243 Computer Organization
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 6/10 Course Average: B
This course is a direct continuation of ECE241, and surprisingly, I found it a lot more enjoyable than its prerequisite. The focus is on Assembly language programming, which I found to be way more understandable compared to Verilog. Assembly operates at a fundamental level, so you’re technically working with the most basic building blocks in programming. The labs often involved seemingly simple tasks like counting to 10 on a HEX display, but the nature of Assembly meant that achieving this could require hundreds of lines of code. I appreciated these labs as they provided a refreshing change from the usual programming tasks. Final and midterm exams were relatively easy.
ECE297 Software communication and design
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 9/10 (Variable) Course Average: B+
Despite the demanding workload, this course was one of my favorites. The main project involved collaborating in teams of three to develop a geographical information system (similar to Google Maps). Unlike other courses where teams are assigned, here you have the freedom to choose your own teammates. Starting off, your team is given only the OpenStreetMap database, and the APIs, granting you complete control over your project's design, functionality, and optimization. Performance enhancement and pathfinding algorithms were key components of the project. It's crucial for all team members to contribute effectively for success in this course; And trust me, this is not a one or two person project. To succeed in this course, all three members must be doing their share.
Third Year:
They say that third year is the easiest year for ECE, but that depends on what courses you choose. For me, it was only slightly easier than second year but still significantly harder than first year.
APS360 Fundamentals of Deep Learning
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload : 8/10 Course Average: B+
This course felt fundamentally very different compared to the other programming related courses. If you’re unfamiliar with deep learning, the content can be overwhelming but the inner workings behind AI are both fascinating and challenging to grasp. Fortunately, much of the coding in the course revolves around preparing data, setting up AI architectures, and training/testing models, rather than building an AI from scratch. While the labs are manageable, the final project can be very time consuming, particularly as training a single model can require hours or even days. Regarding this aspect, make sure you start early. Both the midterm and final exams were quite difficult.
ECE302 Probability and Applications
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 3/10 Course Average: B-
The first half of this course is very straightforward. Just an introduction to probability. The second half is where the difficulty quickly ramps up. Make sure you don’t underestimate the second half of the course. I made the mistake of assuming the material was easy after performing well on both midterms (midterms were very easy), leading me to neglect the final third of the course so I flunked the final. FYI, our marks were determined solely by the 2 midterms and the final.
ECE344 Operating Systems
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 10/10 Course Average: B
This course had the most difficult and demanding labs I’ve ever seen in my life. They are due every two weeks and some of them took most students more than 15 hours to complete. I’ve seen people staying up all night in the GB computer rooms to finish these labs. One positive aspect of the course if Jon Eyolfson is your professor, is that all lectures are both recorded and live-streamed, allowing attendance in person, online synchronously, or asynchronously. But if you have Ding Yuan, good luck. I heard he is not only bad at teaching, but also makes you program an operating system from scratch. The course content is quite interesting and the Midterm and final exams were fair.
ECE345 Algorithms and Data Structures
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 7/10 Course Average: B+
If you're one of those programming geniuses who have been doing Leetcode since like 3 years old, you’d have likely already learned all course content before you’ve even started the course. You could probably write midterm and final exams without attending any lectures. However, if you're not as experienced, attending every lecture, taking detailed notes, and staying focused is crucial. Personally speaking, some algorithms were incredibly difficult for me to grasp, while others were simple. Assignments typically include both coding and long-answer components, which can be time-consuming, but you can work with a partner.
TEP444 Positive Psychology for Engineers
Difficulty: 1/10 Workload: 3/10 Course Average: A-
This course overall was very enjoyable and a nice refreshing experience from the other technical courses. You go on excursions to various locations with your group and write reports. It's an excellent opportunity to expand your social circle and make new friends. If you aim for an A- grade (80-85), you can breeze through with minimal effort. However, achieving a higher grade (A or A+) would require significantly more work (like 5 times more, no joke), which is not worth the extra effort in my opinion.
CSC343 Introduction to Databases
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 10/10 Course Average: Unreleased
The content of this course is actually pretty interesting and is taught well. But the assignments were excessively time consuming. There are only three in total, but each one demanded such a significant investment of time to the point where I contemplated dropping the course altogether. You do work with a partner (going solo isn’t even an option if you want to complete the assignments) but even so, be prepared to invest 15-30 hours per person, per assignment (they also mark hard). Despite the workload, I do recommend taking this course because knowing SQL can substantially benefit you in the future. Just start the assignments early. On a positive note, the midterm and final were relatively straightforward.
ECE311 Introduction to Control Systems
Difficulty: 10/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: C+
This course didn't come with a heavy workload, consisting only of three labs and two midterms. However, I found the content to be very challenging. It felt like they condensed and combined every concept from every engineering math and physics course into one. Topics ranged from circuits and dynamics to Laplace transforms, matrices, Bode plots, and more. It didn’t help that Prof Scardovi didn’t record any lectures, has messy handwriting, and uses a damn chalkboard instead of modern technology like other profs do. The midterms and final were somewhat lenient compared to the lectures, but this course still ended up being my lowest mark.
ECE361 Computer networks I
Difficulty: 8/10 Workload: 9/10 Course Average: B
This course requires a lot of memorization compared to other courses. You’ll have to understand calculation processes but also memorize a lot of general knowledge about networks. A problem with this course is that some concepts that show up in tests are not adequately explained in lectures. By far the best way to study is to do past exams. Professor Valaee often recycles questions, sometimes even directly copying past midterms and finals (like he did in my cohort). Unlike other courses, there is no big assignment/lab for this course, but it makes up for it with quantity. There’s a quiz every week, a wireshark lab every 2 weeks, a programming lab every 2 weeks, and a midterm. The programming labs are already difficult by themselves, but this cumulative workload felt very overwhelming.
ECE472 Engineering Economics and Entrepreneurship
Difficulty: 7/10 Workload: 5/10 Course Average: B+
This is straight up an economics course, no engineering at all. You’ll learn about investments, equity, financing, and related areas. There are 4 quizzes throughout the semester, with quiz 3 (quiz 3 specifically) being by far the hardest (average in the 50s). Since you're able to bring your textbook to the quizzes and exam, my biggest tip is to write past quiz and exam solutions in your textbook, as there's a limited pool of questions, and new questions often resemble some kind of variation of past ones.
ECE421 Introduction to Machine Learning
Difficulty: 9/10 Workload: 7/10 Course Average: unreleased
While the course content itself may be challenging, surprisingly, the midterm and final exams were pretty easy. There's a slight discorrelation between the lecture material and what appears on the exams, but relying on past exams for preparation should be enough. The course leans heavily on mathematical concepts, much more so than APS360. The assignments were difficult and tedious but I recommend you work with others to complete it.
With that, I've covered my thoughts and tips for all the engineering courses I've completed. Transitioning into your next year in engineering, particularly if you’re transitioning from high school, can feel daunting. However, remember that you're not alone in this experience – many of your peers are facing similar challenges. If you need any more advice or have questions, feel free to reach out to me via DMs!

2024.05.16 22:56 Temporary_Start_3014 Looking for advice to get into aviation in the UK

Hi so I'm currently in my first year of t level engineering. By the end of the course I would have an equivalent to 3 a levels and a level 3 btec aswell as, 2 years work experience in part 21 engineering as I'm in a 2 year internship. Now at the end of the course the company I'm with has offered a full-time job however I've spoken to the employees at the company and turns out you really need a degree to get into the field.
So really this post is about my next step as now is the time I need to start thinking do I go uni or not. There's several options I've looked into which are apprenticeships, uni or applying for a job with an airline like baggage claim and working my way up because airlines like to hire internally.
I'm actively making contacts and I really don't know whethi should take the job or look at something else. I just don't want to keep all my eggs in one basket especially because I don't have the job offer on paper.
Any advice will be appreciated, thank you.

2024.05.16 22:56 dcisfunky 1980s Twilight Zone

The 1980s Twilight Zones were really good in my opinion specially compared to the latest Twilight Zone Jordan Peel stuff.
  1. The little blue people that built time episode was really good. A matter of minutes
  2. Shadow man scared the crap out of me
  3. The little girl that trades her parents into a zoo for new parents
  4. The episode where the guy can’t talk to anyone, and if he does, he sentenced to be ignored by everyone else (stolen by Black Mirror) episode is called: to see the invisible man
  5. The ending of A little peace and Quiet STILL sends shivers down my spine
  6. Special service was stolen for The Truman Show
  7. Button button was stolen for The box movie
These are all solid episodes and there’s a lot more than that.
1980s Twilight Zones were really good!

2024.05.16 22:56 FireHamilton Hurt my [27M] girlfriend [25F] badly, is how she is treating me now valid?

Long story short, my girlfriend and I recently moved to a big city where it's a fresh start for us both.
She has some childhood friends here, I have zero friends. It's only been a few weeks but it's been hard on me.
There is a girl I hooked up with nearly a decade ago, that we've since been good friends and would check in on each others lives over the years. I legitimately have no romantic interest whatsoever, just consider her to be a good friend.
So given that I was struggling, I figured I would see if she wanted to catch up. I asked her and then I asked my girlfriend if that was cool. She asked if we had sex before and I said yes, then she really blew up on me. Saying things like I thought we were in the same place, I would never, ever do that to you. I would never reach out to see a guy I hooked up with. I also fucked up by asking the girl first.
Now keep in mind, I had zero negative intentions from this. But I 110% get how my girlfriend feels as she has been cheated on in the past multiple times. Also on reflection, I would feel the same way. I profusely apologized to her but she was really worked up about it.
Later that night she asked to see our messages and I sent them, they weren't bad or anything. But I did realize like 6 months ago I was in town for one day and also asked if she wanted to catch up. Even though there was nothing flirty or bad, I didn't want to hurt my girlfriend further so I deleted those.
The next night while she's still grappling with it she came home and asked to see my phone. I said sure. Turns out you can recover deleted messages and she was in utter shock that I "lied". Again there was nothing bad in those, we weren't officially dating at that time when I asked her to hang out. It was just the fact that I hid them.
So I kind of dug my own grave here just because I was lonely and wanted a friend and it all spiraled out of control. It got pretty emotional and she drove home to our hometown which is 4 hours away starting at 2am while she was drunk, tired, on her period, and going through withdrawals from her anti-depressant.
She comes back a couple days later and revealed she was about to commit suicide while driving back, but she called someone on the hotline for 3 hours and they talked her down.
So as you can see, this was a very emotional experience. Now on to what's happening, she went to Target and spent $500 on my credit card "because she was mad" to buy a top of the line blow up mattress and new bedding for herself (we bought some 2 weeks ago and she didn't like it). So now I am sleeping on a blow up mattress because she needs space, and she is barely talking to me.
She's here, but she's not really here. It's honestly the worst feeling imaginable having someone you love basically treat you like a roommate. I feel awful that I made her feel so heartbroken, and awful from being shut out from her heart.
I already struggle with anxiety/depression and this isn't helping. She said we will be fine, she just needs to make sure I'll never do it again.
