When I open the folder structure of a formatted card there are various files like .CTG etc. which are not jpeg, raw, or any media... What do these do?

Blake was listening to his sister through his headphones while she ripped into him about his hopeless addiction to pornography. He rolled his eyes as she went on and on about his sexist attitudes and his distorted views on women and sex. If his sister had only known that he was scrolling through explicitly drawn versions of Marge Simpson and Lois Griffin in various poses with various props, she would have hung up the phone and given up.
As far as Blake was concerned there were no distortions in his mind about women. He had lived through so many interactions and had seen so many videos of women being terrible people that it only reinforced his bias.
Porn didn’t judge Blake. Porn didn’t make Blake do things that he didn’t want to do. He spent time with women the way he wanted to. If he wanted a woman to act a certain way, he could find a video where she did just that.
The way he saw it, women wanted a lot, and if they didn’t get what they wanted, they made everyone’s life hell until they did. Conversely, if a man wanted something, it was tough luck. He watched his mother treat his father like that until the day he died, overworked and unhappy.
Less than a year after his mother put his father in the ground, she was with someone else that she was all too happy to control. Porn gave Blake the control, and he liked it.
“Blake, I love you, but you’re going to waste your whole life in front of a screen holding your dick.”
“Don’t you have another kid that you should be working on squirting out?”
She hung up.

Blake was caught watching videos at work again, but this time he had a plan. He knew eventually that he would be caught, but after losing three jobs for the very same reason, he hatched a simple way of ensuring that he wouldn’t lose out on any money, and be able to stick it to the boss and company he hated for no other reason than employing him.
Blake was called into his manager’s office, but before anything could be said, Blake blurted out that he needed to take mental leave. He sobbed in front of his manager while he said that the job was giving him thoughts of hopelessness and self harm, but he was smiling on the inside. He was talking just loud enough for a few people outside of the office to hear him.
His manager's face was red.
“Cornered you, bitch.” Blake thought to himself. “Good luck firing someone who’s crying out for mental help.”
Blake figured that he’d be able to stretch this out for at least a month. A month of paid time off doing what he loved.

“It’s my phone!” he muttered to himself as he rode the elevator down to his new found freedom. “If people have a problem with the things I’m looking at, perhaps they shouldn’t be looking over my shoulder and mind their own fucking business.”
He didn’t mind the other people in the elevator, or their awkward expressions. They didn’t matter to him. No one really did.

Still on a high from manipulating his boss into a corner, Blake decided to do something new on the bus ride to his apartment building. He clicked on a video. He wasn’t exactly watching the video, rather he was watching people’s reactions out of the corners of his eyes.
He kept the volume low, but up just enough so the moaning could be heard.
At first, people around him were wondering if they were actually hearing what they thought they were hearing.
He was trying not to laugh at their reactions. People began to move to other seats, and soon enough, everyone was giving him disgusted looks.
“Fuck em.” he whispered.
He noticed one man sitting in the back of the bus who was giving him quite a different look than everyone else. The man was well dressed. Perfect hair. Perfect teeth.
He was smiling at Blake.
Blake, a self admitted and overly enthusiastic homophobe, turned off the video. He began to worry that he had attracted the wrong kind of attention.

Blake was all too eager to get out of the bus and hurry towards the doors to his building. He heard a voice behind him that caused him to catch a breath and lose his forward progress. He turned around. It was the beautiful man from the back of the bus.
“Excuse me! I’d like to have a word!”
Blake found his voice hypnotic, and his stride was elegant, almost like he was floating just above the cracked and cruddy sidewalk.
“I uh… couldn’t help but notice what you were doing on the bus young man. I think I have something you might be interested in.”
Blake was lost in that voice. He had never been attracted to another man, but he was feeling things inside himself that he’d never felt before, and he hated himself for it. After a long awkward silence, Blake finally found his voice.
“Look buddy, take your pixy dust and bother someone else. You’re not my type.”
“Oh, you’re definitely my type.” The beautiful man laughed and handed him a plain white business card with nothing but a web address on it. “In so many different ways, you’re exactly my type.”
“What is this?”
“It’s my business, Kid. You want videos you can’t tear yourself away from? Trust me. It’s the newest thing.”
He winked at Blake and walked away.

Blake was staring at his screen while he was riding in the elevator. There was a paywall. A dollar for the first month, then a hundred dollars a month after that.
No screenshots or thumbnails, just a form for a credit card. As the doors opened to his floor, he put his phone in his pocket and decided against any further investigation. He was sure that it was a scam of some kind.

Until ten o’clock that night, Blake engaged in his normal activities with one new addition he had begun almost two weeks prior. He built two shelves in front of two different air vents in his apartment, and he had placed speakers on the shelves. The tenants in his building got to experience all of the auditory pleasures of the thrusting and jiggling and smacking that he was watching.
Blake made sure he followed the rules, and nothing came out of those speakers after ten p.m., but it was fair game until that time.
He would laugh to himself thinking about the tenants having to listen. He wasn’t sure how far the sound traveled through the vents, but he figured that most people on his floor were getting a good chunk of it.
That night though, his usual joyful time in front of his phone, his 70 inch television, and his newly discovered fondness for Cerave was marred by the thought of something unique and dangerous out there that he hadn’t seen.
After several attempts at a satisfactory denouement in his masturbatory madness, Blake finally gave up, raised the white flag on its limp post, and went to bed.

Blake kept hearing the man’s siren-like voice in his head while he tried to sleep. After almost two hours of tossing and turning, he sat up and snatched his phone from the charger and typed his credit card information into the mysterious site. He just had to know.
The site opened up and he was instantly intrigued. There were no thumbnails on any of the videos, but the descriptions on each of them were so graphic, profane, and dehumanizing that it would do us all a great service if they were not repeated here. Blake’s favorite appendage however, jumped to a zealous attention at the graphic depictions that the perverse descriptions painted within his brain.
Blake stripped off his briefs and sat down on the edge of his bed. His left hand gripped the phone while his right hand eagerly gripped something else.
He clicked on the first video and it began to load.
Blake waited.
And waited.
And waited.
The video wasn’t loading, so Blake decided to try another one, only to find that his left thumb wouldn’t move. He realized that his entire body was stiff. Nothing would move with the exception of his eyes. He couldn’t even speak.
All he could do was stare at the glowing screen in the darkness of his apartment.
After a moment, his mind started to race while his body remained ridiculously rigid.

Three hours had passed. Blake had been able to see every minute tick by. He had watched his battery meter slowly run down to eighty percent. He had thought that his screen would eventually turn off, but it never did. It was still trying to load the video.
Something was tickling his nose and his face itched. His back had begun to ache and he felt some tiny pin pricks along his still turgid tool. He wanted to cry, but nothing would come. In fact, his eyes had begun to dry because he had not been able to blink.
Blake watched another hour go by before his body finally succumbed to exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep, in spite of the fact that he could not close his eyes.

He awoke six hours later and his vision was partially obscured. Still holding his phone and his phallus, Blake tried to scream. The sun was now coming through the window of his apartment. He could see his reflection in the mirror that was on the opposite wall. His hair was long, and it was white. A spotty and wiry beard had exploded out of his face and it hung down to just above his enlarged and sagging nipples set in a sagging and flabby chest.
His breaths were shorty and ragged; phlegm was gurgling with each inspiration.
His arms and legs were covered in large liver spots and all of his skin was a purple paper thin.
He was old.
The shock of seeing his hunched and rigid reflection had staved off the feeling of pain from his nether regions for only a moment. His fingernails were growing on his hands. Some of the yellow things were curling around his phone while the others were curling and jabbing into what now looked like a deflated balloon stretched too thin, that was desperately trying to retreat into his abdomen against his rigid grip.
The battery on his phone was blinking.
It was about to die. He wondered what happened when the battery ran out, but somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew exactly what would happen when that loading screen finally went dark.
His sister’s words were all he could think about as the screen and the world went dark.

After several nights of peace, Blake’s neighbors noticed an awful smell emanating from the air vents. After several complaints, the building’s Super opened Blake’s apartment and found the withered, still rigid frame of a dead old man sitting upright on the edge of the bed.
After taking several photos that he would post later on social media and stealthily absconding with almost a full bottle of Cerave, the Super called the authorities.

Tissue
Polysemous title- Tissue • Tissue- paper + skin (human life is fragile [criticises arrogance, encourages us to protect]) • Also paper (not alive) + skin (alive)- criticises monotony of life, not really living • Tissue paper- found in bibles and holy texts, but fragile (overinflated importance of identity causing wars and discrimination, really it’s very fragile and identity isn’t real, we’re all just people (tissue as in skin)) • Tissue- used to wipe away tears, togetherness can reduce suffering • Tissue- medical term for deep skin- poem shows deeper nature of humans and our potential for goodness, can be wounded and damaged by outside influences but can always heal
"Paper that lets the light shine through, this is what could alter things" - reference to religious texts paper, light as Jesus and Allah (power of religion) - or coexistence with nature (Dharker is a Muslim Calvinist)

“we too learned to be silent”- “learned” should be positive but contrasts with what they learnt- criticises how they were taught shame by the older generations- but it’s said in first person, the daughter is criticising this and teaching her children not to think that way
Poppies
Title- honours and grieves dead soldiers, short single word title shows full intent of the poem and how the mother’s life is consumed by grief
Dramatic monologue- emphasis on the domestic impact and how the soldier isn’t present in the poem
Free verse, enjambment- chaotic, lack of control over the son, distressed
Domestic + military semantic fields- life has been ruined by war
“Spasms of paper red, disrupting a blockade of yellow bias”- mix between war + domestic • “spasms” and “red” is injury and pain- mother is worried or is hurt by letting go (spasms is involuntary muscle action- involuntary letting go), • “paper” is the fragility of the son • “blockade” is military language showing her worry abt the conflict, how she wants to “block” her son from going into the military • “disrupting” the fabric - the son becoming a soldier disrupts the peace or she is trying to disrupt him from going to war
“The dove pulled freely against the sky, / an ornamental stitch”- dove represents peace and grief- she and her son is at peace with death, “pulled freely” is an oxymoron- inner conflict with grief or letting her son go, the comma shows a pause to reflect on the grief, the “ornamental stitch” metaphor for the mother (pretends to hold it together)

Drummer Hodge: Intertextuality, Tom Hardy (the poet) represents Hector, sympathising with the ordeal of the youth, Drummer Hodge represents the Boys, thrown into the chaos of life without proper guidance
"She's my western front" war metaphor objectifies Fiona, personal pronoun further expresses how women were seen as objects to be owned
“... all the other shrunken violets you people line up" [you people] segregates gay people, [shrunken violets] derogatory language
"Some of the literature says it will pass" looking to literature for solace and comfort during a sexuality crisis

“history is women following behind with the bucket” - her big scene about women in history at the end of the play (which is typical for Alan Benett’s plays such as “Kafka’s Dick”) so it would be recent and stay in the audience’s mind when the show ended
Irwin intro as politician in the future "etc., etc." while talking abt freedom- that man gives no fucks about freedom really, just waffling on (first impression for the audience too!!)
Parallel with Holocaust debate- Lockwood uses the SAME EXACT PHRASE while talking abt how the holocaust was bad, (dismissiveness of mass genocide? in this education system? it’s more likely than you think) then goes on to argue that they should be unique with their arguments- Irwin passed on thr mindset even on such an important subject
Hector is set up to be looking cool and all (motorcycle scene dramaticness, greek name connotations, fav teacher) but is absolutely uncool when we get to know him- purposeful? "studied eccentricity" and all. clinging onto youth?
Posner is actually rather helpful as the "dictionary person" bc i doubt the audiences know what "otiose" means
SCRIPPS IS THE MOST RELIGIOUS ONE AND CLOSEST TO POSNER it can dismantle the idea that religion is against queerness
Irwin didnt know how nietzche was pronounced bc from what we know of him he would call Dakin out on that

We've just had the world's largest LC + MECFS conference to date, and the US news outlets have given us ZERO COVERAGE as far as I can see? Can anyone share anything they've seen out there?
I only see a few German articles (see below - well worth reading).I reached out to one of the event organizers and he confirmed that he has no knowledge of US coverage of the event.

• I was eager to read coverage of last week's international conference on Long Covid and MECFS, and feel shocked to find it only being covered by European sources that I need to translate with my web browser. Where is the US coverage?
  
• This conference featured a heavy presence of prominent US researchers (see names listed on https://unitetofight2024.world if you'd like to list any in your message).
  
• To date there is no cure for Long Covid or MECFS and it is one of the most debilitating diseases one can experience. The highest disease burden is borne by those in the prime of their life who were otherwise healthy and now have no hope for their future.
  
• The origin of this event was a reaction to a twitter user named Lauren who said her public goodbyes and ended her life after suffering with Long Covid and with no end in sight.
  

-Suicide is a leading cause of death for those suffering from MECFS and Long Covid.
-Conference organizers were LC patients who saw Lauren's posts on twitter and her plea to tell the world what is happening.

Needing some advice… TLDR - how to break baby news to toxic physically abusive MIL My mother in law has been physically abusive to not only my Husband but his younger siblings for many years. She has some severe emotional incest going on with my husband as well and has always treated him as her husband instead of a son. The issue arose when we started dating and she wanted me out of her son’s life so bad to the point where she herself almost attacked me when I was a minor. My husband has set up boundaries himself and I have stuck beside him for the past 5 going on 6 years. Well… now we have a baby we need to think about. I told him I did not want his mom to know but we could tell his dad (they are divorced). We told everyone on his side of the family except his mom - I successfully hid my pregnancy and delivery from her. We have been loving life with our beautiful baby for the past 4 months now. The issue is that she has started to poke around and has asked my father in law if I’m pregnant. I have her and her extended family blocked on all my social media accounts so I know she is using someone else’s account to stalk me (this wouldn’t be the first time she’s done this). My husband talked to his dad and we’re worried that if she keeps snooping she will eventually find pictures of our baby that we send to his siblings and we do not want that. How do we break the news to her? We know she will blow up and either verbally attack us or physically attack the kids (she takes her anger out on her kids - doesn’t matter what happened to her that day she will simply beat them). What do we say to soften the blow? I know she’s going to pull the “are you sure that’s even your baby?” Card but she can’t because little bean looks exactly like daddy 🤣. Last week, we looked at some verses that support veganism. In Genesis we can read that man and beast were commanded to eat herbs, seeds and fruits from the start of creation. After the flood, then the animals are permitted to consume themselves. In Isaiah we see the picture of a new earth where the animals also return to consuming plants. Another good reason I find to be vegan is the example of Daniel and his friends; they chose not to defile themselves with the flesh of the animals and the wine of the King of Babylon because they were offered to other gods. Not to the God of Abraham, Isaack and Jacob.
My reasons for becoming vegan were at the start to support my wife, but ultimately, I ended up getting more benefits. Doing no hurt is a great bonus too. As a type 1 diabetic, I used to struggle to control my blood sugar, but when I stopped consuming the flesh of animals, my insulin consumption reduced by half and I was “cured” from neuropathy and arthritis. Within a week, I noticed significant changes. The arthritis was so bad in my shoulders and hips that I though I was down and out for the count in my early fifties. The arthritis took about 3 months to disappear, first in my hands and feet, then even the most chronic in my shoulders and hips. Even the rheumatologist preached to me the benefits of a vegan diet to help counter the arthritis. She preached to me that eliminating flesh from my diet would reduce my ailment to a manageable status without drugs and she was right. I thank Yah for the new lease on life. All these pleasant results were done without any drugs or medications. I’m a believer!
Plant based whole foods can make a real difference. Try the 10-day vegan challenge, and like Daniel, his friends, and myself you will look better and have a better countenance just like they did while in Babylon (Daniel 1:15). Enough on that, let me change to a different kind of witness.
God speaks to his people, no matter where or who they are. He might speak through a prophet, like Moses or Yeshua. He speaks to his people through visions and dreams. He speaks in plain words sometimes. He even speaks to the false prophets who claim to speak in his name. What is the difference between a believer and a doubter? The difference is when God calls, the believer listens. The doubter instead of listening, will raise more questions: Did I really hear that? Did the Creator of the Universe speak to me? What can I do to make a difference?
Can doubters be believers. No, they can’t. Doubters and believers are contradictions in terms. If a believer is still on the fence so to speak, he or she is not a believer. If we pick and choose what we accept and reject in the Torah or in Yeshua’s teachings, we are still on the fence and didn’t choose which side we are on. Doubt is from the father of lies. Doubt is the weapon of choice in disinformation campaigns. We are exposed to these every day through the media, advertising and the propaganda of the for-profit corporations of the world.
They will say things like “Use this product and you will _______________ (insert your greatest desire in this blank)”. The blank can be filled with: popularity offers, or worse shaming a person for not having the right hair, color, mood, car: whatever. All of which are untrue. For profit corporations have been deceiving the masses since they found out that by associating themselves with the popular elites of the world, through sports personalities, social media influencers, even politicians, they can profit from their followers by association. For example, they will pay a celebrity to endorse their own brand. The celebrity will then lie to their own followers saying things like “I always wear this brand.” Or “I drink this brand”. The follower or fan then sees their idol, and then imitate him or her. Happens billons of times every day that an idol makes a product more popular, and the product fills the pockets of the corporation that created it. That’s capitalism. Fooling the masses by lies, half-truths, and doubts.
I wonder how much Donald Trump is paid every time he flashes a Diet Coke or shows up at McDonalds? One thing is certain, he doesn’t do it for free. Everything about the man, even the presidency was for his own gain, and not for the people he was supposed to represent. Even turning clemency into a risk to the people by releasing convicted perpetrators for a price.
Yeshua teaches us that we need to love one and hate the other (Luke 16:18). Idols profit only the idol makers of the world. Elohim gives to his people gifts greater than gold and silver. Ask the Father to give you these. If you’re sincere, He will answer.
Don’t take it from me! Prove all things and judge for yourself. Let the spirit lead you where it wants you to be.

Currently in the process of picking parts for my new pc, I'd say I'm all, but done except for the case (and maybe cooling unit) I can't really decide on the case... I was recommended an Montech AIR 903 base (though I'm thinking of going with the max atleast)​ however I really dont care about rgb one way or the other as im no longer 14 (sorry no offence meant) no one else will ever see the rgb and it just keeps me up late at night. I really want a case with built in cd rom​ and i would prefer a white case​ because it would blend​ in with my room.
Today I discovered the Cooler Master Silencio S600 TG and Im over the moon. It has a cd rom like I wanted, it also has a built in SD card reader which is very cool and means I can save pictures from my camera and from my moms old camera whenever I want and its supposedly very silent which I also like. However its not white and I don't know how good the airflow is which leads me to my question for anyone with experience with the case

1. How good was the airflow and cooling?
2. If the airflow is bad, can I purchase more fans that go in the case itself to improve airflow and cooling or is the case locked to the fans it comes with?
3. I was told my selected cooling was kind of overkill for my build, is that still true with this case?
4. If not, what cooling would you recommend I get?
5. How is the noise reduction ability of the case?
6. Do all my picked parts fit in? And does it have enough ports for the accessories i plan to have ?(2 screens, a printer, a webcam, a mouse and keyboard and a pair of speakers and sometimes a racing wheel)
7. If not, do you know of any white cases with the same abilities that can? Prices dont really matter

In this second part of my "series", I am taking a look at the potential trades for the Blazers. If you'd like to read the first part on Toumani Camara, the link is here: Offseason Review: Toumani Camara : ripcity (reddit.com)
Without a clear consensus on draft prospects where 8-10 guys are all within the same tier, this draft cycle will see a lot of teams looking to move around and potentially trade down. The Blazers are in a unique position with 4 picks in the top-40, a few veteran players which will interest teams, and an all-star caliber player they might be looking to trade away. Now that the order is settled, I want to look at the Blazers assets, objectives, and 5 teams who are likely trade partners.
Primary Trade Assets:

• #7, #14, #34, #40 - The Blazers are in a good position to add talent in this year's draft and have a lot of flexibility to move around. At 7, they'll be able to draft one of those top tier players. At 14, there will be a at least one or two swings (Saluan, Missi, Williams, Dadiet, etc.) as well as really solid players (Carter, McCain, Da Silva, Knecht) available depending on who falls vs. rises. The two second round picks give us the opportunity to move up into the late first or might be valuable enough to move up a couple slots from #7 or #14.
• Malcom Brogdon – Brogdon is in his final year for $22M. He is a 6MOTY caliber player which every single playoff team could use on their roster. So much so that, of all the teams remaining, he would play big minutes for all of them except Boston. He also has value to teams like Detroit who could use a veteran presence. His expiring deal gives the team flexibility to another team's reduce cap long term, trade at the deadline in a larger package, or look to extend on a more team friendly deal with bird rights. The general consensus is he is worth a mid to late first round pick, such as a lottery protected first round pick from a contender.
• Anfernee Simons – Simons has two years left of an AAV of $26M. Some fans think Simons is not worth much. I would disagree. Simons is one of a handful of players who generates elite on and off ball gravity in the NBA. Any team he goes to, he would transform their offensive spacing. We’ll talk about fits in a bit, but I would look for a Dejounte Murray like package; a high-end prospect and 2 good draft picks.
• Jerami Grant – Grant is owed 4 years with an AAV of $32M. NBA media types like to call that out as an overpay, but Grant’s salary as a percentage of cap will decrease through the length of the contract as the cap rises. Grant is another player who instantly improves a contender as a third option. I would aim for at least one good first round pick, a decent prospect, and potentially a pick swap.
• Robert Williams III – Timelord is on a great contract – 2 years with an AAV of $12M. With his injury history, his value is hard to determine, but his contract makes it an easy trade piece. Steven Adams got 3 second round picks, so I think that is his floor. He is likely worth more to the Blazers than other teams at this juncture.
• Matisse Thybulle – Thybulle is another tradeable contract – 2 years with an AAV of $11M. The second year is a player option. I do not see him having negative value on that deal, but we are looking at 1-2 second round picks + a flier prospect.
• Jabari Walker – I like Jabari, but in the context of our rebuild, he is the odd man out. I think he might have some value in the league for a real future second.
• Dalano Banton – Similar to Jabari, he was a great find this year. With his performance, could be a good sweetener in a trade or be able to trade for a real future second round pick.

Offseason Objectives
Not only are assets important, but the overall objectives of the offseason. The way I see it, here are the Blazers objectives:

• Get more high-end talent, trading up may help guarantee us getting the best players we can. We should also aim to get a high caliber player who has already shown flashes in the NBA on a rookie scale deal.
• Get more shooting, we should definitely keep at least one of Brogdon, Grant, or Simons. I am in favor of trading Simons as he has the most value, and Grant / Brogdon are essential to giving our young guys enough spacing to develop. I also highly value shooting in this draft for that reason. The more spacing we have; the more likely Scoot and Sharpe develop into dudes.
• Get under the luxury tax. There is a lot of consternation and clickbait discussion the salary situation. It is massively overblown – the bigger priority is to simply consolidate the roster down to 14 active players. If we kept our two current first round picks, and cut Jabari and Banton, our salary would be: $172.6M. The Luxury tax threshold is 171.3M, a difference of just $1.3M.
• Consolidate roster / draft picks. We have 14 players on the roster with 4 draft picks. We should aim to consolidate around more high-end talent.
• Get more picks in 2025 / 2026. These are great drafts, and we'll have a better idea of our needs next year.
• (Nice to have) Get the future first unlocked from the Bulls. There is no urgency on the Blazers part to part with the pick. There is a chance it never conveys into a first (silver lining of us being terrible!). If it does, it is outside the lottery, and we are a good team. That said, if there is an opportunity for us to trade a second round pick this year to get control of that pick back, it is not a bad move.

With that in mind, let’s talk about 5 trade partners who I think we will be having constant conversations with: Philadelphia, Detroit, Orlando, Detroit, Chicago, and Memphis. Please note all these trades are frameworks, the point is really to think about the primary value each team is getting back, along with the matching salary. The exact number of picks, the type of picks, the filler contracts, and the sweeteners are really guess-work. I wouldn't read too much into it.
Philadelphia:

• Cap Space: Up to $65M.
• Draft Assets: #16, #41
  • The 76ers can trade their 2024 first-round pick (16) starting the night of the draft. They also have the least favorable 2026 first from Oklahoma City, Houston (if 5-30) and the Clippers. They are owed an unprotected first from the Clippers in 2028 and have the right to swap firsts with LA in 2029 (if 4-30). In total, Philadelphia can trade up to five firsts starting in late June.
• Targets: Brogdon, Grant, RWIII
  • Explainer: Philadelphia has a ton of cap space. They will likely make a run at George, LeBron, maybe Derozan, but if they strike out, they will want to look at the trade market. Grant feels like an ideal fit to pair with Maxey and Embiid. Brogdon is another option for them. This might be a good trade destination for Jabari and / or Banton, who can provide them with good depth to rebuild their roster on very team friendly contracts as sweeteners.
• Trades:
  • Jerami Grant, Jabari Walker, Dalano Banton for #16, Least Favorable 2026 FRP, lottery protected 2030 FRP
    • The Blazers get a pick this year, a pick next year, and a highly valuable first-round swap. To be honest, I have no idea the particulars here, but the point being is Grant for draft capital
  • Malcom Brogdon for #16, 2027 second round from MIL, 2030 SRP from PHI.
    • I could see us going for that least favorable 2026 FRP as well by including one or both our seconds.

Detroit:

• Cap Space: Up to $66M.
• Draft Assets: #5, #53
  • Detroit owes a first-round pick to New York that is top-12 protected in 2025, top-10 protected in 2026 and top-nine protected in 2027. The next available first-round pick the Pistons can trade is in 2029. They have no incoming first-round picks via trade. They have nine second-round picks available.
• Targets: Anfernee Simons, Malcom Brogdon
  • Explainer: Detroit also has a ton of cap space, a lack of shooting, and a lack of veteran leadership. They could really use either Anfernee Simons or Malcom Brogdon. Simons is an ideal fit next to Cade to unlock the spacing Cade desperately needs. Detroit is also overhauling their front office, so who knows which players they value vs which they do not.
• Proposed Trades:
  • Anfernee Simons & #14 for #5 and Ausar Thompson
    • If the Pistons insist on keeping Ausar, Ivey is the player I would want. I would not include #14 in that scenario. Again, who knows how the new FO thinks about Ausar / Ivey.
  • Malcom Brogdon & #7 for #5 and 2-3 SRP
    • This trade assumes the Blazers have a target in mind at #5 they really want who might not make it to 7. Beyond that, the major benefit is giving the team substantially more cap and roster flexibility. It is possible we could include some real sweeteners, like Kris Murray, to move up from #14 to #5. We could also look to include #16 assuming we get it from PHI in a Grant trade. In that scenario, we would have to get one shooter like Risacher, Sheppard, or Knecht for one of those top 2 picks.

Orlando

• Cap Space: Up to $35 million
• Draft Assets: #18, #47
  • The Magic are one of seven teams that control their own first-round pick over the next seven years. They can also trade swap rights each year. The Nuggets owe the Magic a first-round pick. It is top-5 protected in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Orlando has the right to swap its 2026 first for the less favorable of Phoenix and Washington. Orlando has 12 second-round picks available.
• Targets: Anfernee Simons, Malcom Brogdon
  • Explainer: Much has been made of Anfernee Simons to the Magic, and for good reason. Aside from him being from Orlando, much like with Cade, Simons would unlock Paolo and Franz in a real way. For the Blazers, the Magic’s major draft assets and young talent of Anthony Black and Jett Howard are enticing. Brogdon is another option here if the Magic are looking for a one-year player to give them veteran leadership and spacing with more long-term flexibility.
• Proposed Trades:
  • Anfernee Simons, #40 for Anthony Black, #18, 2025 unprotected FRP, 2030 pick swap.
    • Blazers get exactly what they are looking for, a major trade up in 2024, a high value prospect, a 2025 first, and a pick swap far into the future. Some do not think Black will fit with the Blazers, but that is a problem down the road. Let us see how he plays with our other core. Given how well Banton played, Black could be a much better version of him. Banton may also be a sweetener in the deal. Blazers could look to take on Cole Anthony’s contract as well to give the magic more cap flexibility. Another permutation could see RWII be swapped for WCJ or Thybulle.
  • Malcom Brogdon, RWIII for a 2025 lottery protected FRP, WCJ.
    • The Blazers accomplished two goals here. They get another FRP in 2025. While it may be lower in order, it is possible Orlando will take a small step back. Something in the late teens is very valuable in next year’s draft. We also gain cap flexibility, and swap RWIII for WCJ who have extremely similar contracts.

Chicago

• Cap Space: Likely none.
• Draft Assets: #11
  • The Bulls can trade their own 2024 first-round pick starting on the night of the draft. They owe a first-round pick to the Spurs that is top-10 protected in 2025 and top-8 protected in 2026 or 2027. They are owed a first-round pick from Portland that is top-14 protected over the next four years. If the first is not conveyed, the Trail Blazers will send a 2028 second. The Bulls have three second-round picks available.
• Targets: Jerami Grant, Malcom Brogdon, Matisse Thybulle, Deandre Ayton
  • Explainer: The Bulls are looking to still be competitive enough to sell seats and be stuck in mediocrity. They are likely looking to build around Coby White. The Blazers have plenty of high-level role players which could be interesting. For the Blazers, they could target trading up from 14 to 11, targeting Pat Williams in a S&T, and getting that flexibility back as a Sweetener.
• Proposed Trades:
  • #34, 2028 SRP for the rights for the Blazers pick back
    • The Bulls might really like someone at 34 and value it as a first-round pick value. If that is the case, and the Blazers are not as enamored with someone in that range, it is advantageous for both sides to resolve the pick now.
  • Malcom Brogdon, #14 for Lonzo Ball, #11, rights to the Blazers pick back.
    • Like the above trade, the Bulls might value bringing in Brogdon to improve their roster. All it costs them is dumping Lonzo’s contract, moving 3 spots back in the draft, and the Blazers pick back. Blazers could put in #40 as a sweetener.
  • Patrick Williams S&T (5 years - ~$125M), Jevon Carter, Dalen Terry, for Jerami Grant
    • This trade is a bit more complicated, but the framework is Patrick Williams for Jerami Grant. If the Blazers are high on Williams and the Bulls might not want to commit to him, the Bulls get an immediate upgrade to “win now.” The additional salary could come from a few different angles, but I would like to also like to get Dalen Terry or Julian Phillips as a sweetener. If Williams gets a bit more salary, then less salary filler is necessary. High risk, High reward for Blazers.

Memphis

• Cap Space: Likely None
• Trade Exception: The Grizzlies have a $12.6 million dollar trade exception from the Steven Adams, which RWIII and Thybulle can fit into.
• Draft Assets: #9, #39, #57
  • The Grizzlies control their own first-round picks over the next seven years. They also have the right to swap their own 2026 first for the less favorable of Phoenix, Orlando, and Washington. The Grizzlies also have the right to swap their own 2030 first for the less favorable of the Suns and Wizards. Memphis has six second-round picks available.
• Targets: #7, RWIII, Matisse Thybulle
  • Explainer: Memphis may be incentivized to trade-up a couple slots if they are enamored with Donovon Clingan (or another prospect) and he is there at #7. They also might be interested in trading back to #14 if they are more interested in a center available in that range, such as Missi, Edey, Ware, etc. I have a feeling this is a team that will target Edey given their history of valuing analytics and not caring as much about physical attributes.
• Proposed Trades:
  • #7 for #9 and Vince Williams Jr
    • Sam Vecenie proposed this trade. The Blazers move back two slots and get a good young wing.
• #14 and RWIII OR Matisse Thybulle for #9
  • The Grizzles got another win-now player for moving back 5 spots and utilizing their trade exception.

I’m going to be honest I completely underestimated the time I had. I take the MCAT late July and I’m struggling to get through the books. I was going to start earlier but I coincidentally had my hardest semester in college and kept postponing my start day until a couple weeks ago.
Sometimes I get the general concepts but the specifics are difficult for me, other times I just don’t remember it well at all from lecture. Either way I spend way too much time on the books.
My question is essentially, should I just begin to focus on review problems, practice tests, and flash cards, then use books to reinforce the knowledge?
Or, should I just scan through the chapters quicke make a more solid plan and make sure to read through the books. Idk anyone who’s taken the MCAT personally so I’m learning as I go.
If I should focus more on review problems, where would you suggest I go besides Khan Academy and the miles down Anki deck?

The Fifth Annual Inkfort Press Publishing Derby
Welcome to the beginning of the 2024 Publishing Derby! The signup link for this year's event is located below the recap of each phase. Participants are heavily encouraged to read through the overviews before registering.
Phase 1
Sign-ups
The registration form will open on Saturday, May 18th and remain open until we have approximately 100 entrants.
The full list of covers will be released for viewing on Sunday, May 19th.
Reminder: the pen names on the covers are required, as all participants will be asked to remain anonymous for the event. Please see the Official Rules and FAQs for further information.
Cover Ranking
Inkfort will provide a sheet for participants to rank the covers in order of preference. It is recommended that participants do at least ten, but the ultimate decision is on the individual.
The rankings are due Sunday, May 26th at Noon (EST). The sheet should be emailed to Inkfort Press with the author's name on it.
Cover Assignment
Once the sheets have been collected, the Inkfort team will assign every participant a random number. Then, we will assign each contestant a cover based on their ranking.
Example:
Nick gets assigned the number 3
Jane gets assigned the number 2
Max gets assigned the number 1
Max gets his first pick guaranteed since he is assigned a cover first.
Jane gets her first pick unless it was the same as Max’s. If it was, then she gets her number two.
Nick is next, and he gets number one unless Max or Jane got it, then we go down the list until the very first next cover is available, which in this case would be number 3, in the worst case scenario.
If someone doesn’t rank enough covers:
It is up to each participant to choose how many covers to rank. If a scenario occurs where there is no ranking to guide the assignments, they will be assigned one from what remains at our discretion. This assignment is not negotiable. ** Cover Distribution**
Once everyone has been assigned a cover, the Inkfort Admins will distribute the covers via email. This will include a digital copy of the cover, the title, and the pen name.

Phase 2
Working Phase
The working phase is where participants will plan and write the book for their assigned covers, it runs from Tuesday, May 28th, to Thursday, August 1st.
The event requires a minimum of 10,000 words but does not have a maximum. Beyond the 10k, the size is up to each author.
While writing, keep in mind that all derby materials must meet the community standards of the event.
Participants are also allowed to begin marketing their books during this phase. Details on marketing can be found in Phase 4.

As well, Inkfort suggests reading the Best Practices for tips on word count, as well as reader expectations regarding covers and content. Phase 3
Beta Readers
Beta phase begins Thursday, August 1st, and ends on Thursday, August 15th.
What is Beta Reading? A Beta reader reads a finished story and provides comments, questions, and other styles of feedback to help the author polish prior to publishing.
The Derby Beta Phase has two parts. In both parts, Inkfort acts as an intermediary for feedback, and all Beta readers (including derby authors who participate in this phase) remain anonymous.
Part One:
Inkfort Press emails a list of submitted books to their Beta Reader mailing list. The list will include the titles, short taglines, and blurb.
There is no guarantee that all books will receive feedback.
Part Two:
The second portion is an exchange exclusively between other Derby Authors. All books submitted in this portion ought to receive feedback from another participant, and each author who enters is expected to give feedback to one book.
The Inkfort Staff will compile the books entered and match them based on several factors, including, but not limited to, total word count and genre.
Part two is completely optional, but it is important to note that those who sign up and do not complete their assigned read may be locked out of the program in future events.
The feedback and questionnaires must be emailed back to Inkfort by Thursday, August 15th, at midnight. (EST)
Phase 4
Revision and Marketing phase.
The revision phase begins on Friday, August 16th.
Revision:
This phase is dedicated to revising the books based on feedback and self-edits. Participants are allowed to begin editing at any time, including during the Beta phase.
Marketing:
With the bulk of the writing finished for most participants, this is where the authors are encouraged to begin the bulk of their marketing. Authors are allowed to share details of the event as a whole on their main pages, but anything specific must be under the pen name.
There are two important rules for this portion of the event.
Each author must market under their assigned pen name.
Under no circumstances may an author use their pre-existing fanbase, family, friends, or social media during the derby. Only the author and Inkfort Staff are allowed to know who wrote each book during the event.
This also means authors can not use existing editing relationships, closed crit groups, or anything similar for the derby book. Anything used must also be accessible to a total stranger. It also means that participants should not be narrowing down the pool to those they know. No information about their individual book should be shared while not under the guise of the pen name.
Participants are not allowed to spend money on their derby projects during the event.
Authors can use the software they already own, such as:
Word processors
Formatting software
Rocket
They can not, however, spend money on things like:
Physical copies
Editing
Ads
Supplemental art
Pro-level of software
Phase 5
ARC’s
Arc submissions are due Saturday, August 31st. Arc email will be sent out on Sunday, September 1st.
What is ARC? ARC stands for Advanced Review Copy. These individuals get to read a polished copy of the book before it goes live and are often encouraged to leave a review as soon as possible.
Books that are finished and ready for launch may be submitted by the deadline. Those who do will be added to a list sent to the Inkfort Press ARC Readers list. Similar to Beta, they will see titles, taglines, and blurbs.
Phase 6
Publication
On Monday, September 23rd, all of the finished books should go live.
The following details are up to the authors, although the participants are free to ask questions and have discussions about them.

I recently bought a GPU, hoping I could fix it since it seemed to show signs of life. The card has power LEDs that light up and the fans spin just fine, the system will even boot no problems but it goes straight to integrated graphics and doesn't show up in device manager or task manager.
