Here’s my new pup, Hachi. He’s supposedly pure. I did my research and read that Huskies can be all black, (he’s obviously got white throughout) but anyway, everyone thinks he’s a mix of Chow or Akita. (I don’t mind if he’s a mix or not) but what do you guys think? He’s pretty large for his age. Only 12 weeks and around 22 lbs! His paws are huge too.

Just a SINK taking a career break. I recently left my job at a tech company to do some traveling and soul searching this year. I’ll be visiting New York soon to see my best friend and the first thing I'm gonna have there is a Lox Bagel. :))

Last Mother’s day wasn’t bad, it was just interesting I guess. It was my first, so that in and of itself made me ridiculously happy. I just wanna make that clear lol.
So Mother’s Day 2023: First off, I have no pics of me and my baby, who was only 4 months old at the time.
Secondly, I went to an amusement park with my husband, baby, and my younger brother. I’m sure plenty of ppl will say was my first mistake. Going to the amusement park was technically my suggestion, since my husband and I had been wanting to take my brother for ages, as a new ride that my brother was interested in had opened. It was more of an issue because of how crowded it was (DUH OP), I got stuck on said ride with my brother, which was really difficult with my PPA (silver-lining is that I have the most empathetic brother, and he helped me immensely while we were stuck, my husband was with the baby exploring), and I ended up dead tired super within an hour of being there.
Finally, I’ve breastfed my LO her whole life long, and that was the first day I was publicly shamed for it. I found a quiet shady clean bench and started nursing my LO. I’ve never used covers while nursing, and a group of women were very loudly discussing how inappropriate it was for me to breastfeed in public, and said it would “be more respectful if I had smaller breasts.” (I guess I should have booked a breast reduction before going to the amusement park). They then made the men they were with find a new area to sit at. It was frustrating, especially as someone who absolutely passionately speaks up when “confronted” in some fashion, but I didn’t want my baby in the middle of an argument with strangers, so I just stewed.
So that was my first Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day 2024: This year, my daughter is 16 months old, and my husband made it his mission to make Mother’s Day different for me.
He’s been snapping candid photos of me and the baby for weeks apparently, and I had no idea. He surprised me with the pics this morning.
He shooed me out of the house so that he and the baby could surprise me with crafts and various other things. (I’m suspecting, that a bunch of chores have probably been done).
I’m currently at a sushi joint by myself. Chowing down on some spicy salmon, while reading some really old Twilight fanfictions. (I’ve never read the books, but I’ve gone down a rabbit hole now). This could sound lonely I guess. But this is the first meal I’ve eaten alone since early January 2023. Legit. Plus I was a vegetarian my whole life until switching to incorporating fish in my diet after having my baby. So exploring new dishes is really fun.
My husband also has plans for the afternoon involving my favorite coffee and park, and this evening we’re making homemade pizzas and dessert with the baby. Which is really sweet, because about one month ago, I mentioned super causally that it would be fun to make pizzas with LO.
I miss LO and am so excited to spend the rest of the day with my family.
If anyone has any fanfiction recommendations let me know haha

SunCity Group said in a Dec. 31 press release that it expects Hoiana's Phase 1 project in Quang Nam, off the central coast of Vietnam, to be completed and opened within the first quarter of this year. Hong Kong-listed SunCity Group Holdings will manage the game at the site, according to a May 2019 filing. The latter company is controlled by Alvin Chow-Chukwah, SunCity Group Junkit President.
On Tuesday, in response to GGRAsia's inquiry about the timeline of the plan in light of coronavirus warnings, a Suncity spokesperson said: "Our market positioning in Hoiana is quite different from Macau."
The official added: "We believe [coronavirus alert] will not have an impact before the soft open if we secure [local] licenses on time." 메이저 토토사이트
The spokesperson also said "part of hotel rooms and casino operations will be ready" under the "free soft open" phase of the Hoana plan.
Given the Suncity brand's strength in serving Chinese VIP gamblers, some industry watchers expected Hoiana to have a strong appeal to Chinese customers as well. On Tuesday, Vietnam reported that nearly 1,000 Vietnamese nationals returning from China had been placed in quarantine under the supervision of the Vietnamese military.
Vietnam has confirmed a total of 10 coronavirus cases as of Wednesday, according to local media. More than 24,500 cases and 492 deaths have been reported globally as of Wednesday morning.
An interim report from Suncity Group Holdings, released in September, said Hoana noted there would be seven phases to be developed over 13 years on the roughly 985.5-hectare (2,435 acres) site.
The first phase will include more than 1,000 hotel rooms, casinos with 140 game tables and more than 300 slot machines, and golf courses, according to the filing.

2024.05.07 18:48 Pale-Salamander-3364 Help - Senior FIV rescue cat over-grooming to becoming raw

I adopted an FIV cat from a shelter, and for months he's been over-grooming to the point of being raw. It isn't like what I've seen where there is a large bald area, it's in several concentrated spots/patches and he does it until he bleeds. At the start, I thought it was ringworm, which he had and then cleared. Once it cleared I realized it was not related to the ringworm, and I can't tell if he is itchy/allergic or if it's psychological/OCD from being rehomed. I have tried so many things and run up bills to figure this out.
I was wondering if anyone else has experience with effectively treating an FIV over-grooming rescue and what you did. He is very friendly and docile but I do have reason to think he spent much of his life living outside, and then spent 3 years in a cat sanctuary (an indoor warehouse where he lived in a community of other cats). I have read that semi feral cats may start over-grooming when they are rehomed, and it can be an OCD psychological thing, but these posts did not mention how they fixed it. Has anyone effectively treated it? Or have any other feedback?
What I have tried so far is a number of topical things, a steroid, 3 months on an elimination diet (Royal Canin). I just started Ellevet CBD 4 days ago, but stopped as it gave him nausea and diarrhea. The only thing that fixed it was the steroid while he was on it, but he can't stay on a steroid long term. I think the step after that is back to the vet to consider anxiety pharma?
I just asked the vet and they said to switch to a different elimination diet. When he was in the shelter, he was not over-grooming and he was eating every kind of fancy feast and cat chow (which I fed him initally here as well, until the vet said to transition him slowly to royal canin). I don't understand why food allergy is being considered if he ate everything at the shelter and was not doing this?
His background: Found on street in 2020 in a trap/neuter program with ASPCA, was going to be euthanized due to FIV. July 2020 was pulled off euthanize list to live at cat sanctuary, where he lived until October 2023 when I adopted him. They estimate his age is 11 or 12 years old. I adopted a companion cat from the shelter with him, and they get along for the most part.

I am a student living in India. I rescued this chow (Gimble) from an abusive owner (rich drug addict and alcoholic) around 6 months ago. The owner had left him on street after gimble bit him due to his ill behaviour. I, alongwith my friends took GIMBLE in and decided to take care of him until we find a good foster home.
When we took him in, his condition was pathetic. He was covered in ticks and his coat was all matted. We got him cleaned up, medicated and put him up for adoption. There is a pic in the drive link below, of his shaved coat with bitadine on his skin.
When we were finding foster home for Gimble. Few people came but couldn't adopt because of his agressive behaviour, which was a result of his abusive past.
A noble family decided to take the risk and adopt Gimble. He stayed there for 12 days. But, he didn't let anyone touch himself. His condition was again detoriating since no one could bathe him there. The adoption family contacted us citing the issue. So, I decided to adopt Gimble myself.
Things were going good but GIMBLE's dietary and medical needs kind of shook my finances recently.
Currently, the situation is that I'm facing financial constraints since I'm a student. And taking care of GIMBLE is turning out to be a financially draining task. So, I'm here to raise funds (crowd-funding) for this cute but ferocious pup.
Also, he needs cherry eye surgery which will cost a considerable amount.

They both fit roughly 5’5-5-9 and 180-250 (weight can become height and height can become weight) originally made for 5’7-240, feet are sock paws and generally one size fits all (but fits 8-9 men’s best)

The owner had left him on street after gimble bit him due to his ill behaviour. I, alongwith my friends took GIMBLE in and decided to take care of him until we find a good foster home.
When we took him in, his condition was pathetic. He was covered in ticks and his coat was all matted. So, we had to get his coat trimmed.
When we were finding foster home for Gimble. Few people came but couldn't adopt because of his agressive behaviour, which was a result of his abusive past.
His rehab is under process and currently, I'm facing financial constraints since I'm a student. And taking care of GIMBLE is turning out to be a financially draining task due to his medical and dietary needs.
Also, GIMBLE has a cherry eye for which surgery needs to be done.

Hi all. I posted earlier this week about your chow’s personalities. Lovely to hear and really enjoyed reading all your responses. Unfortunately, I am in need of advice. Today, my dad was walking Bao and there was a Bully breed who he met on the walk and his owner said that the dogs already met and that his Bully is friendly (I do not recall them meeting before). Anyway, they dogs were sniffing and playing with each other, when the Bully bit Bao’s face and both owners were pulling their respective leashes to break them apart. Of course, the Bully’s owner should have choked the Bully out because pulling only does more damage. Luckily it just looks like a cut above and below the eye, but hopefully not through it. Bao is not wimpering, he seems ok. We are taking him to the vet in an hour as that’s the earliest they had. I’m very shaken up by this. Bao loves to meet other dogs and this is the first time this has happened. My question to you is, do you let your dog meet other dogs on walks? How do you avoid dog fights? What do you do during a dog fight? How should I move forward with this Bully’s owner? Do I report him or ask him to put a muzzle on his Bully? My hunch is that this is not the first or potentially last time his Bully will lunge and fight.
P.S. there was a bit of blood. I cannot bear to post a photo because it makes me sad and mad, but just imagine a cut above and below the eye.

I recently had entropion surgery performed on my Chow Chow due to a severe corneal scratch and infection in one eye, which nearly led to the loss of the eye. To prevent further damage, surgery was conducted on the affected eye. Additionally, the other eye, which initially showed minimal issues, also underwent surgery as a preventative measure to avoid future problems and to maintain symmetry, considering that entropion was diagnosed in both eyes. However, six months post-surgery, I have several concerns about the procedure and its outcomes: 1. Post-Surgical Hair Growth: Since the surgery, hair around his eyes has started to grow inward towards the eyeball, causing him discomfort. I've noticed signs of minor infections, such as increased watery discharge and green pus. I've been trimming these hairs to prevent further irritation.
  1. Eyelid Appearance: The surgery involved lifting his eyelid slightly, but this has resulted in what appears to be a 'hole' — the eye now seems unusually open compared to normal. When I compare this with other cases of entropion surgery, it's hard to tell that those dogs had surgery, whereas my dog's surgery is quite noticeable due to the 'hole' left side of his eye. Two Bills (PL) regulating the ownership and handling of dogs considered potentially dangerous and criminalizing the custody of these animals to unfit people are ready to be voted on in plenary.
Authored by federal deputy Mário Heringer, the two Bills have been pending in the Chamber of Deputies since 2006, but now with the repercussions of recent pit bull attacks, the parliamentarian is trying to convince the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP), to put the proposals to the vote as a matter of urgency.
This Sunday (15/4), in Mogi Mirim, in the interior of São Paulo, the owner of a pit bull dog died after being attacked by the dog while having an epileptic seizure. A municipal guard, the victim's neighbor, shot the animal dead in an attempt to help the victim.
Earlier this month, in Saquarema (RJ), writer Roseana Murray, 73, was attacked by three pit bulls and had to have an arm and one of her ears amputated. In March, a man died after being attacked by his own pit bull dog in Linhares (ES). In addition to these cases, pit bull attacks on other dogs have also been recorded recently.
One of the bills, PL 3616/2006, penalizes anyone who entrusts a dangerous dog to an unfit person under the age of 16 with up to two years' imprisonment, as well as anyone who drives or keeps it without due caution. The bill also punishes those who use dogs in fights or violent competitions.
The other bill, PL 2617/2006, regulates the registration, identification and ownership of these dogs, obliging owners to have a certificate of ownership with the owner's details and information to enable the animal to be identified.
The text considers potentially dangerous dogs over 30 kilos belonging to the molosser (large to giant) and shepherd categories, such as doberman, rottweiler, giant schnauzer, akita, chow-chow, Siberian husky, pit bull, among others.
They must be certified when they reach 12 months of age, by means of a tattoo with the registration number. The certificate of ownership can only be issued to a person who is civilly capable and of legal age. The owner who does not have the certificate may be fined and the dog taken to the zoonosis control centers until the document is regularized.
According to the author of the bills, it is necessary to "treat potentially dangerous dogs as a serious matter, demanding all the necessary safety measures from breeders and owners".
He defends the bills, which are facing resistance in parliament, on the grounds that they are necessary to prevent attacks that are constantly being recorded across the country. Despite the resistance to the proposal, which has been in the pipeline for almost two decades, he believes that, given the events involving pit bull dogs, the chances of the proposal being approved if it is put to the vote are high.
"Prevention is better than running the risk of seeing new cases like that of the writer who had her arm amputated because of a dog attack," he argues. According to him, the National Congress needs to have the "courage" to tackle this issue.
The report reached out to the Brazilian Confederation of Cynophilia for comment on the projects, but there has been no response to the request for an interview.

Chow pulling fur out?
It’s really difficult to actually show properly in a photo, but our 9 month old female Chow keeps yanking her fur out in this area. It’s like she’s trying to catch her tail but gets frustrated she can’t and ends up pulling fur out from her side here, and she’s started doing it on the other side too just today. Of course we tell her to stop when we see her do it, and try to pull the fluff out of her mouth too but she runs off with it and likes to eat it. We’ve checked the areas for any signs of a skin issue as we thought maybe she was itchy but the skin looks normal. She’s also flea treated. Does anybody have any ideas on why she could be doing this? Is it something to be worried about? Thanks for any advice 🩶
