Gilded grasshopper robbed in Sanctuary
I put the grasshopper in a display case and when I went back to Sanctuary I realized it was gone. I checked all the settlers and none of them had it, I even checked trashcan carla ( I know she likes to steal things).
ps. when I fast-traveled to Sanctuary, I realized it was being attacked by raiders, I checked their inventories and they didn't have anything either.
It's possible that the raiders or one of the settlers stole it? or maybe I was stupid to put it in the display case lol

🔗Mighty Nebo 12K Rechargeable LED Flashlight: Powerful and Versatile

https://preview.redd.it/bn0ebinu234d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cf9a09bc7597de18ff9abd66e64e7e265cc629d
As a flashlight enthusiast, I recently had the chance to try out the Nebo 12K Rechargeable Flashlight, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This flashlight boasts 5 different light modes, making it a versatile companion for any outdoor activity or emergency situation.
The highlight of this rechargeable flashlight is its impressive run time, particularly in low mode. With 12 hours of use on low mode, you can be sure it will last during those long power outages or camping trips. Not only does it have a long run time, but it also provides a powerful beam that reaches up to 721 feet.
One feature I appreciated was the 2x adjustable zoom, which allows for flexibility and precision when illuminating a subject. Additionally, the IP67 waterproof rating gave me peace of mind when using the flashlight in wet conditions, knowing it would not easily malfunction.
The NEBO 12K truly shines as a multi-purpose tool, effectively functioning as a camping light, hunting light, EDC flashlight, and even doubling as a power bank for your USB-rechargeable devices.
There were a couple of drawbacks, however. The flashlight itself can be quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, which may be a consideration for some users. The high setting only reaches up to 3,000 lumens, which might not be the brightest available on the market.
In summary, the Nebo 12K Rechargeable Flashlight offers versatility, durability, and an impressive beam distance, making it an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts and emergency preparedness. The only downside is its weight and the relatively low lumen capacity on the highest mode, but overall, I am quite pleased with my experience using this flashlight.

It was perfect for nighttime hikes or scouting while navigating through dense forests. The fast charging port was also a nice touch, significantly speeding up the charging process.
I enjoyed the fact that this flashlight had 4 modes - high, medium, low, and strobe - which were incredibly useful in different situations. The easy-to-use switch made it simple to toggle between modes and turn off after use. The durable yet lightweight construction, coupled with its waterproof design, made it a suitable companion for any adventure.

The sturdiness of the light impressed me. Despite its portability, it has a solid construction that helped me achieve a steady working environment. The YXQUA XHP70 12000 Lumen Flashlight has been a reliable companion during my hiking trips and late-night walks. The bright CREE XHP70 LED lamp illuminated my way through the darkness, while the zoom feature allowed me to control the brightness intensity and illumination range. With its five modes, I could choose the perfect setting for any situation, and the intelligent power indicator light never let me down with low battery reminders.
One particularly impressive feature was the built-in rubber USB cover; it not only added durability to the flashlight but also made it less prone to accidents. While adjusting the focus and brightness was a simple and straightforward process, one downside was the tendency of the glass not to cool down quickly, which could potentially burn my hand.
Using this flashlight has been enjoyable and convenient, fulfilling its purpose as a powerful, rechargeable, and versatile light to keep away darkness and danger.

These SKNSL Rechargeable LED Flashlights truly shine with their impressive 900,000 lumen output, providing brightness you can count on. I was particularly drawn to the 7 modes, making it a versatile choice for all kinds of adventures.
One thing I really appreciated is the use of COB technology in these flashlights. It made the focus easily adjustable, switching between wide range and spot illumination, greatly aiding in my detection of surroundings.
However, it did take some getting used to with handling the light for long periods of time due to the intense brightness, which felt more like a sun's intense glare.
But overall, these LED flashlights provide a powerful and rechargeable source of light in emergencies or during your outdoor treks. With their IP6 waterproof rating and strong aluminum alloy body, they are built to handle any weather or situation.

The Fenix LR50R is easy to use, too. With dual stainless steel side switches, you can quickly cycle through its six brightness modes and SOS, beacon, and strobe functions. The built-in tripod mount is a nice touch, making it convenient to use in different settings.
Now, let's talk about the battery life. The included 16,000 mAh battery pack can be fast-charged with the USB Type-C charging cable, and it has enough juice to keep the flashlight running for over 58 hours on eco mode. Plus, the LR50R can also be powered by one to four 21700 batteries, making it a great backup for when your primary battery dies.
The Fenix LR50R isn't without its minor cons, though. It's definitely on the heavier side, so it might not be the best option for those who prefer a lighter flashlight. Also, while the flashlight itself is well-made, the included accessories could use some improvement - I found the holster and lanyard a bit flimsy.
Overall, the Fenix LR50R rechargeable flashlight is a powerful and versatile tool that's perfect for those who need a reliable light source in any situation. Its high lumen output, easy-to-use interface, and long battery life make it a standout choice among other flashlights on the market.

Last month, I decided to give the Yierblue Rechargeable Spotlight Flashlight a try during one of my usual camping trips. At first, I was skeptical about its claimed brightness, but it truly was extra bright compared to the small models I've used before. The LED light had a lifespan of 50,000 hours, which was impressive considering how often I used it, and its 1000,000 lumen beam was able to cast light up to an incredible 550 yards.
One of the features I found particularly helpful was its IP67 waterproof and floating ability. I submerged it into the river near my campsite by accident, but not only did it perform like a charm, but it actually floated back up to the surface! This added layer of durability was a definite pro, especially when paired with the High strength ABS housing and silicone protective case.
The flashlight's versatile capabilities added even more convenience to my outdoor adventures. With an output port that served as a power bank to charge my devices in emergencies and built-in 10000 mAh batteries, I was confident I would never be left in the dark. The 4 adaptable light settings made it suitable for various activities, from working on a farm to hunting or simply providing hands-free lighting.
Despite all its advantages, one thing I did notice was that the flashlight tended to be quite heavy in comparison to others, making it less ideal for extended periods of use or carrying around on long hikes. Additionally, though the provided red filter was great for specific purposes, such as hunting, I would've appreciated a more adjustable or easily removable feature to further customize the light.
On the whole, my experience with the Yierblue Rechargeable Spotlight Flashlight has been a pleasant one. The brightness, waterproofing, and versatility of the device made it a valuable addition to my camping gear, while its weight and filter issues were minor inconveniences. Overall, I would recommend this flashlight for anyone in need of a heavy-duty, extra bright light for their outdoor adventures.

In this buyer's guide, we will provide you with the important features, considerations, and general advice to help you make an informed decision.

Important Features

Brightness

The primary feature to look for in a 12000 Lumen flashlight is, of course, the brightness. This amount of light output is suitable for various environments, including camping, hiking, emergency situations, and even industrial settings. Always check the manufacturer's specifications to ensure the flashlight delivers the advertised brightness.

https://preview.redd.it/508xrbm3334d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99ebab50e468272cf04cbc9901a4bdacc9b45524

Weight and Portability

A 12000 Lumen flashlight can be quite heavy, so consider the weight and portability when making your decision. If you plan to carry the flashlight frequently, choose one with a comfortable grip and a balance of size, weight, and power. Additionally, consider whether the flashlight comes with a carrying case, holster, or any other accessories that may aid in portability.

Durability

Since a 12000 Lumen flashlight is likely to be used in outdoor or rugged environments, durability is crucial. Look for a flashlight with a sturdy, waterproof, and shock-resistant build. Check the materials and construction, as well as the manufacturer's warranty, to ensure the product can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.

Battery Life

A 12000 Lumen flashlight requires a significant amount of power. As such, it's essential to consider the battery life. High-capacity rechargeable batteries are usually recommended for these types of flashlights. Additionally, a fast charging time and the ability to use replaceable batteries can be great advantages.

Beam Type and Beam Pattern

Different flashlight models come with different beam types and patterns. A focused beam is ideal for long-distance illumination, while a wider beam pattern is better for close-up tasks. Consider the activities you'll be using the flashlight for and choose one with a beam type and pattern that suits your needs.

2024.06.02 06:01 DanyMorningstar Shortchange Scam

The shortchange scam at the tech boat is my least favorite thing about watching tech (I’m in style). I’ve had 2 scammers in as many months and they’re the same deal— ring up a bunch of random crap from the cases, 1500-2000 ish, pay in 20s and force me to count it out in piles, when it’s all counted out they grab the stack, indicate to something on the display then try to hand it back to me. I go to recount it and suddenly there’s a problem. They make an excuse, abandon the transaction and leave. Today the guy definitely had some partner that tried to make me feel bad for the transaction taking so long. The scammer kept trying to give me a tip too. Like 10 bucks. I refused it repeatedly. Then he said he was trying to give me the change for a gift receipt. It made no sense.
I know I can and should call a TL for these situations but there was literally no one that could have helped me. TL was on meal and ETL was at a stacked guest service counter. What do you do when there’s no one to call? I guess I handled it but I hate having to. Watch out for scammers y’all. They do be out here.

2024.06.02 05:54 Animemann90 How many instances of bad behavior, lack of manners along with a blatant disregard for the rules (or laws) coming from tourists visiting France to the point the locals are getting angry?

How many instances of bad behavior, lack of manners along with a blatant disregard for the rules (or laws) coming from tourists visiting France to the point the locals are getting angry?
I can only speak about Japan, it's getting bad in regards to over-tourism. For instance in Kyoto, there was a tourist acting like a some sort of papparazzi bothering the Geisha walking around, she was reprimanded by another tourist saying that it's rude (rightly so) as the Geisha was just trying her best to not interfere as she's working. You can't do that, as Geisha are humans like everybody else, they don't like to be bothered by unruly tourists up close.
(Plus Japan has strict privacy laws about posting a photo portrait someone's face up close without permission on social media, as you can get sued for breaching their right to privacy.)
The thing is that Japan has unspoken rules (even for the slightest ones) including etiquette that may not cross over to Western culture, which is why Western tourists often fail to understand or completely disregard it, since they think "It's Asia, who cares!" but that kind of mentality is wrong! Thinking it's okay to do stuff Japan deems inappropriate or act like idiots is just crazy.
(A traveler has to be culturally aware of where they are in the world regardless of the country they are currently in, there are mannerisms that are acceptable in their home country but frowned upon in foreign land.)
Apart from Westerners, tourists from both China and South Korea frequently travel to Japan, due to their geographical proximity to their home countries. However there are mannerisms from their own country that aren't tolerated in Japan. (i.e. spitting on the floor)
I swear, what attracts tourists is: video games, anime & pokemon! It's one of the biggest reasons why they end up bringing a empty suitcase to only fill it with nothing but snacks, games, QoL items from Japan.
It's disgusting when tourists in Kyoto (especially in Gion or the Geisha district) are acting like paparazzi whenever they spot a Geisha or Maiko, constantly invading their space approaching right in their faces, that is so rude! pretending as if they are celebrities or actresses, they ask the question on "can I take photo of you" with the attitude of "I want your autograph!" Its ridiculous!
[The thing with Kyoto is that it's a living exhibit, rather than the "typical" art museum vibe.] There are even cases of tourists harassing them, pulling their hair, putting out cigarette butts on their kimonos or tearing their attire, it's bad! (That's disrespectful, since they put a lot of effort on applying that make up and dressing themselves for what they do for a living!) To the point the local government in Kyoto restricted (but didn't ban) tourist presence within private roadways.
[Japanese news segment talking about trash (or food scraps) left on the floor by tourists after visiting Gion and Kyoto despite bins present in the area!] with some of them eating while walking, which is frowned upon in Japan. As a manager from one of the stores showed photos from the last time tourists were present, a 3 bins shown are full and clogged, thus giving tourists an incentive to litter.
Even in other parts of the city, tourists leave empty bottles of soju including other beverages out in the street and pavement! Not being bothered to clean up after themselves.
They are now deterring tourists from entering private roads where Geisha's hang out with a penality of ¥10000 (59€) for trespassing, this applies to everyone - not just tourists. They should not be trespassing on private property, like at all!
Just recently, there are tourists caught trespassing on those private roads. (However the signage is working as a deterent for most, due to the fine imposed.) but like anywhere else there will be bad apples in the bunch who will of course, trespass on private property.
I mean, you can still go to Kyoto, but please... have some manners, that is what they are asking from visitors, as it's a living art museum that has been preserved for centuries to this day, which what makes Kyoto fascinating to visit in the first place.
Even though there are public streets, some of the surrounding ones are deemed private property (which tourists are unaware of.) I also hate the misinformation from "Western" media regarding a "Tourist Ban" - it's not true, you can still go there, but just comply with the rules.
A tourist was caught on video ringing a bell at Yasaka Shrine (which is used for ceremonial purposes) not for playing around, they actually barred off the rope attached to the bell since that happened. (Just because Japan is not a "Christian" country, doesn't mean you get to disrespect their culture and relgion, it's gross!)
For example, in Japan: there was news coverage about tourists being careless on the roadway despite orange traffic cones and a barrier visible on the side of the road intended to dissuade them, tourists either halted incoming vehicles & traffic standing in the middle of the road (MEANT FOR CARS!) just to take a picture of Mt. Fuji. [It's reckless and dangerous if you ask me.]
Some tourists STAND or SIT on the barrier, which is just like, why? Japan has a habit on indirectly solving any problem rather than confronting it head on, so they would rather install a fence to deter tourists rather than closing the road entirely to redirect incoming traffic, like instead of improving the infrastructre Kawaguchiko near Fuji, they just want to barricade the view.
You're probably thinking "Why can't they just close the road and redirect the cars elsewhere? So the tourists can happy." It's because confrontation is frowned upon in Japan, in order to not tarnish their reputation, they instead come up with indirect and descrete approaches on providing solutions to the issue at hand i.e. such as over-tourism, it's nothing new.
For example, they would put signage in Kyoto to deter or convince tourists rather than actually confronting them. Due to Japan being a collectivist society where social harmony reigns, where you need an unanimous vote to rule in your favor without any objections from all parties in regards to decision making when talking about matters like this from a governmental or societal standpoint.
(As opposed to Europe & The West where individualism is valued, Japan is more of "We have to do this as a team" mentality rather than "I want to do this for myself only")
There's more from that clip: (Mainly in Shizuoka)
  • Tourists standing in the middle of the traffic lane divider to pose and snap pictures [Mind you - There's incoming vehicles while they are doing all of this!]
  • Even the news reporter covering the story advised a tourist against taking a photo / selfie while standing on the road divider also treading on it.
  • Tourists in Kawaguchiko were partially obstructing the road (not moving out of the way!) to let an INCOMING TRUCK pass, so the driver had to swerve to the right to avoid running them over.
  • Tourists flooded another spot「夢の大橋("Pont de rêve") for taking pictures of the mountain, walking up the stairway for the "instagrammable" picture.
  • [4:41] They even caught tourists JAYWALKING in the middle of the roadway even though there's incoming traffic. (Despite the cones and barriers present.)
  • There's a group of tourists who were standing on the side of the road divider with incoming traffic loitering there. (Even a van drove right past them, as it's a ROAD - NOT A SIDEWALK!)
  • [6:33-6:52] A tourist was standing behind a vehicle then approached the driver. (You can't halt vehicles in the middle of the road and distract the driver! - It's insane!)
  • [6:59] Tourists posing in the middle of the lane divider for their "instagram" pics. (You are not allowed to loiter in the road divider!)
  • [8:30] A mother and daughter who were tourists TRESPASSED on private property, as there was a sign displaying「立入禁止」("INTERDICTION D'ENTRER!") treading on the premises.
  • Of course, tourists litter and leave trash on the street, since Japan has no bins available at public places. (only at designated spots.)
  • Even the locals in that area are starting to complain and getting fed up with tourists constantly populating the area - violating the rules, being a 迷惑 ("Nuisances")
Tourists standing on the barrier with their own two feet, which again is not allowed. Even the ministry of transportation put out a clear statement regarding implmenting countermeasures on a location you are not meant to tread on (or be jaywalking) so their solution is to "install a barrier" to deter them. But we know how that will end up, tourists still disregard the fact there's an barrier installed.
There's another spot where tourists now can take a picture of Fuji, it's some stairway of an overhead bridge, but people again cross the road (or jaywalk) just to reach it. Not long ago, a female tourist from Tunisia was run over by an incoming vehicle (due to her standing in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD) for the "instagrammable" picture of the mountain. [in Kawaguchiko this happened.]
Speaking of Kawaguchiko (which is not originally a tourist destination until now), the Lawsons there including Mt. Fuji are always featured on as the backdrop of every TikTok talking about tourism in Japan (alongside Kyoto) Yep, there were even 2 tourists caught jaywalking disregarding the ACTUAL pedestrian crossing. Some tourists are standing on the store's sign posts positioned nearby (that have running electricity and LEDs.) using that as a makeshift tripod for their iPhones!
In regards to Mt. Fuji, from TikTok there are so many "copy cat" itinerary submissions, even the thumbnails are basically the 'same' you can literally see the similarities [down below]. (hence why there are so many tourists flooding the area), like this:
These are just a few examples, but for the most part they are similar to one another the further you scroll down. They all want that \"instagrammability\" of that particular spot, in front of a Lawson. (It's ridiculous.)
Like what was happening in Kawaguchiko, the same is now happening in Fujiyoshida, at a pedestrian crossing, despite a security guard being present, people still disregarded rules about crossing the road, at around [3:00] from the video, the driver of an incoming vehicle had to honk at the tourist standing in the middle of the road so they can pass. (It's stupid.) Of course they were honked at by the driver (He's probably like: "What the hell is this idiot doing here standing in the middle of the road for cars!"), as you're not meant to loiter there halting traffic!
  • [0:29-0:40] In Kawaguchiko, a Lawson store employee scolded a tourist to step off a strangers vehicle. (As he was posing for a selfie for instagram.)
  • [0:42-0:48] Groups of tourists jaywalk again, when it is ill-advised, even a car just drove past. Even some are stalling traffic!
  • [2:49] There's a female tourist posing for a selfie in the middle of the road (while the main traffic light is green!) meaning that cars are still driving past, not the pedestrians turn to cross.
  • [3:41] The news reporter even warned a Chinese tourist to not stand in the middle of the road, regardless he didn't listen until an incoming vehicle was about to approach them as the reporter warned him that it's dangerous to stand on the road!
  • [4:05] A tourist again, standing in the middle of the pedestrian crossing! The vehicle in red had to honk since that tourist refused to move out of the way! (It's insane! How can you not simply just move so the car can pass!?)
  • [5:30] Carvings of [who's here] or their [instagram account] are found etched on the stone walls of the tea plantation (at Obuchi Sasaba) insribed in many languages. (You can't be doing that! That's still vandalism, as it's still within the plantation grounds.)
Since Japan started installing a black tarp obstructing the view of Mt. Fuji, tourists still poked holes through it. It's not opaque as you can partially see through it, or walk to the otherside where a Lawson stands, but some still jaywalk disregarding the actual pedestrian crossing even when there's a cop or security guard present.
From this video, a complaint filed by a dental clinic within the area, stating that tourists are leaving trash or left over food scraps near their premises, loitering on the steps approaching their clinic (only patients are allowed to enter) the clinic. Here, there are even complaints from the clinic mentioning about tourists parking their bikes on bike racks only designated for patients entering their clinic, along with trespassing on their premises. Even the dentist himself took photos regarding tourists loitering outside the clinic, patients are having a hard time getting inside because of this.
Not forgetting that they are trespassing on the rooftop, to the point the dentist (or the staff) resorted to calling the police multiple times due to this! Again, tourists were told to move out of the way or move their belongings to let incoming vehicles pass to park their cars at a Lawson. (Even the driver of a incoming truck had to honk at them! so they can move.)
Just last year, Mt. Fuji itself was suffering from an over-tourism problem on its own since tourists are dying to climb to the summit, but some were ill equipped for the journey. (There was even girl caught wearing shorts and sandals upon the trip to the summit - not suitable for climbing!) Some climbers show up shirtless creating a makeshift bonfire.
Public facilities are vandalized or damaged due to over-tourism, now they are enforcing an entry fee of ¥2000 (11,70€) to enter Mt. Fuji because of this! Tourists leave trash everywhere, crowds of them wanting to head to the summit in large gatherings, which causes problems such as overcapacity. (Some climbers even started arguing / causing a scene towards guides!)
Don't get me wrong, tourists do show up with proper gear (i.e. spiked shoes, ice axes, etc.) and attire heading for the summit, but there are bad apples who literally show up with shorts or singlet, which is not advised on a place like this since it's cold up there! You're climbing up a mountain after all. (Heading to the top is their main objective, with stop overs.)
There was a female tourist who literally by passed the fence / yellow line (like the one you stand behind upon waiting for a incoming train) went on the tracks just to take a selfie with her boyfriend! (Disregarding that she's at the station in Kyoto were other commuters are present, a train is going to show up eventually.) Stupid, reckless and dangerous if you ask me, it's like as if she wants to be hit by an incoming train.
In December 2023: In Tokyo, tourists where holding up incoming traffic on a pedestrian crossing, despite cops being present, most of them want a selfie with the Tokyo Tower but holding up traffic with vehicles is just bad, as the security guards / police are telling people to just cross, to keep the flow, not stall incoming cars & traffic (in a busy city - mind you), but tourists were just loitering there (or walking on the road meant for cars) until they were scolded for jaywalking.
There were a group of tourists caught shaking a sakura tree during cherry blossom season causing outrage, they're basically damaging the tree as the leaves were falling prematurely. The intended way the leaves are meant to fall is when they've matured, since the trees are considered part of public property, Japan deemed that as an act of vandalism and destruction of property.
Plus the trees are sacred to the Japanese (its even part of their cultural identity), as they believe it to represent a symbolism of life and death, those who tamper or mess with it are met with misfortune. Also, in the Daikoku Parking Area (in Yokohama) where it's a hangout for car enthusiasts, but the issue is that tourists trespass on the premises, such as climbing the fence breaking inside. (Despite signage forbidding pedestrians to enter, due to it being an area designed for vehicles.)
Earlier this year on January, there was an American livestreamer who was fined ¥200000 (1,171€) for blasting his music way TOO LOUD, as it was disturbing the peace inside a restaurant somewhere in Osaka, it shows that Western streamers (who act like this) have ZERO respect for the customs upon their visit, ruining the reputation of foreigners (and tourists alike) in Japan, which is already causing some Japanese people to hate them.
In hindsight:
  • Do you think social media is part of the blame as to why places like Paris or Lyon are suffering from overtourism? (As influencers are constantly posting it on Tiktok or Instagram, for example.)
  • Ascending the French Alps: are the facilities reaching max capacity due to the influx of tourists? Also, how many show up ill-equipped? (as in not having adequate gear beforehand.)
  • The French Alps: how many tourists show up wearing inappropriate clothing for this type of activity? such as skirts, shorts, sandals or singlets.)
  • In terms of tourist attractions located in smaller towns: are there complaints from non-tourism related private businesses in regards to trespassing and bad behavior coming from tourists?
  • Have there been cases within France, where tourists actually sustained injuries all because of their recklessness and disregarding the rules?
  • Restaurants in Paris: How often are they crowded with tourists making it difficult for regular customers (locals) to dine there resulting in longer waiting times or queues?
  • Have there been instances of tourists defacing historical monuments or religious sites (i.e. Churches / Parishes) vital to French culture that it's outright disrespectful?
  • Are there times when tourists violated France's laws that they end up getting arrested or fined due to their actions and bad conduct?
  • How common is it for tourists visiting France ending up leaving trash on the floor despite the country having bins available at public places & establishments?
  • Are there tourists who ignore social etiquette & customs while visiting France along with displaying bad manners eventually upsetting the locals due to how rude these visitors are?
  • In terms of social media, have you spotted the "same" posts (on TikTok & Instagram) featuring places like Paris or Lyon to the point all the thumbnails are the same?
  • How many tourists ignore traffic laws in France when dealing with pedestrian crossings, as in jaywalking when the light is red with incoming vehicles driving on the road?

2024.06.02 05:20 arvarnargul Chuck 01x04 teleplay review

FAIR WARNING THIS WILL BE A WALL OF TEXT
Intro: In a series of reviews that will begin (or return) here; we are going to try and take a critical look at the Chuck series, especially the unfolding of the story as scene through the teleplay. In this case we are assuming multiple things about a potential watcher:
What is this all for: This started as a project to improve my critical reviewing skills for a hobby of movie script writing and analysis. Chuck happens to have published 3 original scripts and all the text of every episode has been published to a searchable database. This affords an opportunity to break from my movie writing woes and infinite revisions to just have fun enjoying Chuck and trying to deepen my understanding of the intersection of script writing with filmography and visual editing. Having said this, it should be known I have no affiliation to the show, no additional insider knowledge, and I do not write scripts for a living. So, consequently, feel free to ignore everything I say :). I do hope, however, we can go on this journey together and appreciate the excellence that is a love story called Chuck.
So, don't freak out, and lets get started.

Chuck 01x04 (Chuck vs the Wookiee): TEASER - We open with the gang playing "Know Ya!", which isn't actually a real board game, but based on the game Paddles. It's amazing that Morgan can't stand Ellie/Awesome being in love/winning, but marches triumphantly whenever he gets a question correct. I also like we see, in frame, Chuck watching Sarah pick off olives; he's beginning to notice things just like a real spy. The deep sadness and yet storied confliction on Chuck's face when he discovers Peaches 1 and Peaches 2 was great.
For those who don't know about dogs:
I find it very interesting how Sarah has "spidey sense" about potentially being watched. At no point previously did either Sarah nor Casey display this trait and I'm not totally sure how an open window was enough to do this; I wonder if Sarah's comfort being around Chuck's family is causing her to develop a "feeling of being watched" as she is comfortable with the Bartowski's? For those who missed it, Sarah talks about having a sister I think at the time this was just a throw-away line to protect her cover, but in season 5 Sarah does actually have a little sister if you count the little girl she rescues One last thing about Sarah here, when Bryce is being discussed, I really like how it was played where she acts quiet and shocked, but not saying anything. The facial expressions of Yvonne here are really special and you can tell Sarah lives a life of secrets. This is carried outside when Chuck asks Sarah about her relationship with Bryce. She is totally looking down and to the right, a classic indication of an emotional response searching for rationalization (ie. she is clearly lying)
As they end the game and exit to the courtyard, there teleplay of Chuck does something I've been wanting to see forever; they switch perspective to keep both characters in camera and follow them around from a 3rd perspective. We know this is supposed to indicate they are being watched, but I really enjoy getting to see them together reacting and talking instead of the constant close-ups and cuts. Normally Chuck will be shot with something between a medium close up (MCU) and Medium Shot (MS) to emphasize their characters and highlight their faces and expressions. This works really well because Chuck's cameras are typically either shoulder level or hip level based on the operators moving through their space. In many more modern TV shows, the technology of boom cranes and gyroscopic gimbals allows for content to be show from ground level to overhead giving directors the opportunity to tell their story through a variety of shifting profiles. If Chuck were shot today, we would see everything from full body shots all the way to extreme closeups without the need for continual jump-cuts and re-shoots because the technology is there. At least for this episode, it's nice to see the director explore more hip/knee level motion and more cowboy framed shots when having a distant observer perspective. https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/types-of-camera-shots-sizes-in-film/ does a fantastic breakdown of all the different shot type and camera perspectives for you want to read more!
As we transition into Sarah's hotel room, did anyone pick up on how NICE this is? She has double sinks, a king bed, a sitting mirror, free standing tub, and a great view. I doubt any agency in the "real world" would ever spring for something like this for multiple years for one of their agents, it's fancy! Enter Carina, tell me, who saw Sarah fight with a soap sock and think of iCarly and the famous "butter sock". Also during this fight, why is Sarah wearing a golden bikini? I know she is about to get into the shower, but what plausible reason is there for her to a) wear a bikini at all and b) it to be a bright golden yellow?? If you slow this fight scene way down, you will notice Yvonne's strikes actually come close to hitting Mimi as she has had a lot of training, whereas Mimi's strikes are miles from Yvonne and she just over-acts their impact. The most noticeable is the kick into her table, Sarah goes flying back, but we can tell from the angle, Carina missed her by a good 2 ft. This was just some sloppy editing and not getting the camera into position. I give it a pass because you have probably 3 camera operators wearing stabilized camera rigs trying to rotate around a room with 2 girls fighting and they just missed the angle by like 2 feet. I did really like at the end of the fight Carina had the option to go for the gun but instead went for the fish. If you didn't know they were not enemies before, this should have been a big clue! Carina calls Sarah's life in LA boring #1

ACT I

Carina aka: Maria Elena Argalberdi was born Jun 16, 1978 in Alberdi Argentina with a Buenos Aires passport. Maria Elena is actually the name of a famous song in Mexico and eventually had a movie. This Chuck learns on Flash #1 and is the precursor to meeting the general for the first time. I know I've mentioned this before, but to reiterate; the pictures in Casey's apartment are all wrong; he has photos of Chuck and Morgan that don't happen until season 5 (lost footage) he has a map of Echo Park and Malibu already on display, and he has tactical information for each member of the Buy More (which he has no reason for at this time). It is interesting they talk about an opium cartel in Afghanistan as Afghanistan is known for it's huge poppy fields for heroin drug money.
The NADAN-I-NOOR diamond:
We open back to see Carina and Sarah looking at classified files within the restaurant. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW, you do not look at classified files out in the open and especially not where there are clearly other customers around. Venturing into the BuyMore, there is a monster truck rally on the TV's showing grave digger and reaper, two famous trucks from this time period. Morgan wants to spread his wings and be the fourth wheel to the perpetual 3 wheel party and Sarah, ever the schemer, literally glows when she thinks of the plan to have Carina go on a date with Morgan. I THINK this was just to help maintain their cover, but also maybe Sarah is just needling Carina? If you look in the back of the store when Chuck is talking to Sarah and Carina, there is a really cool Nerd Herd poster that says "Bringing peace to your computer emergency". "if a yawn could yawn" is Carina calling Sarah's job boring #2. One thing I really like with the double data is the way the camera jumps between the couples: boy/girl, boy/boy, girl/girl. I think they way they try and keep private conversations via screen time is a really nice, typical, teleplay trick that really works well here. In a "real" environment, everyone could hear everything, but by splitting the camera focus or playing with perspective, the viewer clearly knows "this is a conversation between girls the boys don't hear it". We see Chuck noticing Sarah picking off olives #2 while they watch a movie about penguins: who mate for life, present their love in the form of rocks, and are pack animals. In Chuck's bedroom as he talks to Morgan, Chuck has a box of King Edward Invincible underneath bongos; for those who don't know this is a famous box for mild tobacco cigars. So I wonder what Chuck is up to in his free time :P.
On the Nerd Herd call with Carina, she opens a bottle of wine with a butter knife. This is actually a pretty famous thing that is done all over the world with everything from a key to a saber. In fact they make a specially type of knife with an extra wide blade for this it Italy. I do want to ask the question; is Carina dressed in red lingerie (Chuck's favorite color she stole from Sarah) really necessary for this scene? I know that Carina is all about improvising and she often uses her sexuality to progress her cause (Casey), but I think we could have gotten away with just the top. I can certainly see the rationalization for going this far, but I think as an artistic choice it wasn't necessary. What IS necessary however is to talk about how Chuck's world implodes when Carina tells him about Sarah and Bryce. Also the perfect act transition ending right at Chuck's jaw dropping and the work boyfriend!

ACT II

I'll say it again, the back an forth with Chuck and Sarah should have been a medium close up, shoulder level straight on shot instead of the constant cuts. Seeing their reaction in real time would have been easier and it would have allowed the Weinerlicious to be maybe 15 ft smaller to not need so many cameramen rotating. "Unless talking to your boyfriend is a matter of national security, the ketchup bottles won't refill themselves". Why yes it IS a mater of national security for Sarah to talk to Chuck... also if any one of us stood up to our boss like Sarah did, I'm pretty sure we'd be fired on the spot!
Malibu is ~2hours for Echo Park with standard LA traffic. Seriously, how do girls in high heels walk down stairs; we see Carina and Sarah walking sideways so there is enough space on each step to fit their shoes. Girls, how do you do that and not fall especially with narrow staircases and 3-6inch heels! Inside the room with the stone there is a bust of Cesare, archenemies, da vinci, and biblical David. There is also some famous paintings the best of which is Vemieer's "young girl with a pearl earring" which is rather appropriate considering it's meaning. There is also a Van Gogh of man in a wheat field and a Monet in one shot too. If ANY of these paintings were real instead of reproductions, they would be worth millions, in fact the young girl with a pearl is estimated at 40million, which is 1.5x the sell value of the Nadan-I-Noor! If we take a look at the engineering drawing of Flash #2 on the pedestal, we would see this design creates a closed circuit around the tongs the diamond rests on; which might explain it's red hue. If a person were to touch the diamond, it would close the circuit on their body allowing the 4000volts to travel through their heart. A person can die with ~20volts, though it's usually more like 50 in most occurrences. 4000volts is enough to kill a herd of elephants and completely overkill for a person. Also the amount of power that would take is more than the city of Malibu... this is to say the trap is real, the numbers are complete nonsense; thinking lightning! Nice shot by Sarah with the plate (there are some great bloopers on this too where she misses badly)! A remote controlled jet ski... i'm not even going to calculate the nonsense for this; it's just total nonsense. Almost as much nonsense as Casey using his phone to track Carina's call. That would take minutes, even with today's technology to back trace like that and way more power than just pushing a button on a razer flip-phone from the 90's!
back at the house, Chuck i playing halo with the legendary skulls as his weapon; this is nice because in the BuyMore at the end of the episode there are dudes dressed as master chief! I really like the changing perspective here with Chuck and Morgan. Chuck's reactions remain in focus while Morgan tells a story behind him, then it switches as Chuck starts to move around until bringing both into focus for the final line "we still have each other and that's really sad". The side cut to Sarah picking locks to the hotel door is classic early 2000's TV and i'm all for it, even if it is super cheezy. BTW as someone who used to lock pick in college, that's .... not how that works, but good try. We get our Flash #3 on the diamond in Morgan's back nuclear explosions. I wonder if the refractive capability of a diamond this pure is enough to focus laser to induce fission or if the value of selling the diamond is enough to buy nuclear material on the black market? Either way, we end the act with... the man with the golden gun!

ACT III

Chuck uses Sarah's plate move against Carina, nice inter-episode call back; he's clearly watching/learning, but his aim is terrible. This was actually clever as Sarah has perfect aim for she is a professional, while Chuck is still definitely a civilian and has no aptitude for fighting. I really like both these types of simple call backs but also how seemingly throw-away lines/actions help tell the broad story of the show. Chuck talking to Carina also shows Chuck has this weird, innate aptitude to get people to re-evaluate themselves and grow internally. You can watch Carina "grow in real-time. When we get to the hotel and Carina opens her trunk first there are a few glocks, a couple rugers, and a 1911; then she switches to blades and we see some folders, some strait blades, an illegal gravity blade (still illegal today), and a kbar... nice selection! Carina, always the flirt, gives Chuck some very insightful works about the nature of being a spy, but also maybe some way to get through to Sarah.
Inside the hotel we see Carina and Sarah speaking; Carina is speaking Swedish, while Sarah replies in Polish. "Om jag slänger nycklarna till dig, kommer du tappa dem då?" which is Swedish for "If I throw you the keys, will you drop them?" Sarah answered in Polish: "Tylko jak rzucisz jak twoja mamusia", which means "Only if you throw it like your mommy". This is just great!
I want to talk about how fast Chuck managed to find an address for DC, print a label, open a box, put the label on, and get the diamond there all before the door gets broken. Somehow on screen time this is like 10seconds, but in real life this would have to be like 3minutes minimum? Either that door is remarkably strong or... TV magic??

ACT IV

Even with all the flirting, as we say goodbye to Carina >! for now !< she is still joking with Casey and every the professional. I like how they show when it's "game time" it's all about the job, but spys can be people too! Carina still calls Sarah's life boring #3 (the common trifecta of episode repeats).
Sarah's face when Chuck brings the pizza with no olives is the reason I think Yvonne makes the perfect Sarah. She exudes the hidden beauty needed and has the acting to so such emotion for Chuck being sweet. The whole scene with Chuck and Sarah asking questions, then Chuck backing off, then Sarah acting stoic like she WANTS to open up but doesn't know if she can really trust Chuck, is ready to move on from Bryce, and should for the nature of her job. This was probably the most well acted 20seconds of the entire episode. Finally, we hear Sarah's middle name is Lisa. Now we never officially know if Chuck hears this or not both due to camera focus and distance, it's never officially confirmed in the entire show. When the intersect is updated in season 4 we see Sarah's picture and it lists Lisa as a middle name, so we assume it's official, but it's never confirmed at any point. Finally, I really like how they end the episode with Sarah closing her eyes as the fade to black.

Few notes: There are 5 official songs in this episode:

I think this was a great episode and really showcased what they can do when additional cast members join the team and when they are not afraid to play with perspective. Mimi as Carina is a great addition to the ensemble and I wish we saw her more, but every time she drops in, it's always a wild episode and it's fantastic. Watching Chuck learn about Sarah and seeing Sarah start to open up is a good way forward and heck Casey had some of the best humor in the episode. Overall, it was fast paced, had some nice character development, as funny in the best way, and moved the main theme along, 8/10.

RESEARCH SUGGESTS LEADERS’ SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE TAKEN JUST AS SERIOUSLY AS FORMAL STATEMENTS

Over 180 world leaders maintain social media accounts, and some of them issue policy warnings to rivals and the public on these platforms rather than relying on traditional government statements. How seriously do people take such social media postings? A new study suggests the general public and policymakers alike take leaders’ social media posts just as seriously as they take formal government statements. The research, by MIT political scientists, deploys novel surveys of both the public and experienced foreign policy specialists. “What we find, which is really surprising, across both

PRONATALISM IS THE LATEST SILICON VALLEY TREND. WHAT IS IT—AND WHY IS IT DISTURBING?

For Malcolm and Simone Collins, declining birth rates across many developed countries are an existential threat. The solution is to have “tons of kids,” and to use a hyperrational, data-driven approach to guide everything from genetic selection to baby names and day-to-day parenting. They don’t heat their Pennsylvania home in winter, because heating is a “pointless indulgence.” Their children wear iPads around their necks. And a Guardian journalist witnessed Malcolm strike their two-year-old across the face for misbehavior, a parenting style they apparently developed based on watching “tigers

One hundred years ago, in the 1924 Paris Olympics, American Johnny Weissmuller won the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 59 seconds. Nearly 100 years later, in the most recent Olympics, the delayed 2020 Games in Tokyo, Caeleb Dressel took home the same event with a time that was 12 seconds faster than Weissmuller’s. Swimming times across the board have become much faster over the past century, a result of several factors, including innovations

BANNING SEX CRIME OFFENDERS FROM CHANGING THEIR NAMES DOESN’T MAKE US SAFER

The government of British Columbia recently introduced a bill to ban people convicted of serious offenses from legally changing their name. The proposed amendment to the province’s Name Act would also prohibit those found not criminally responsible due to mental disorder from changing their name. The government announced the move after media reports that Allan Schoenborn legally changed his name to Ken Johnson. Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for the deaths of his children in 2010 because of a delusional disorder, and was placed at a psychiatric hospital.

SILICON VALLEY ISN’T THE START-UP UTOPIA WE THOUGHT, RESEARCH FINDS

Silicon Valley—considered the world’s hub of technology and innovation—can breed inequality and sameness among budding entrepreneurs, according to new research. Behind the multi-million-dollar deals and tales of start-up utopia, Silicon Valley’s “uneven” investment landscape is in fact a barrier to many budding businesses, says the study from the University of Stirling and Georg-August-University Göttingen. But the researchers suggest other countries could still learn from the more discerning entrepreneurial ecosystem that bred giants such as Apple and Google, to be more selective in backing start-ups. While it is not uncommon for

I WANT TO KEEP MY CHILD SAFE FROM ABUSE—BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME I’M DOING IT WRONG

Child sexual abuse is uncomfortable to think about, much less talk about. The idea of an adult engaging in sexual behaviors with a child feels sickening. It’s easiest to believe that it rarely happens, and when it does, that it’s only to children whose parents aren’t protecting them. This belief stayed with me during my early days as a parent. I kept an eye out for creepy men at the playground and was skeptical of men who worked with young children, such as teachers and coaches. When my kids were

Cyberflashing refers to the act of non-consensually sending sexual imagery (like nudes or “dick pics”) to another person. WHY WE DEHUMANIZE OUR POLITICAL OPPONENTS

Some of human history’s greatest atrocities—genocide, slavery, ethnic cleanings—are rooted in our ability to dehumanize people from other social, political, or cultural groups. STUDY SUGGESTS CHILDREN ARE OFTEN EXPOSED TO PROBLEMATIC CLICK BAIT DURING YOUTUBE SEARCHES

When a child peruses YouTube, the content recommended to them is not always age appropriate, a new study suggests. Researchers mimicked search behaviors of children using popular search terms, such as memes, Minecraft and Fortnite, and captured video thumbnails recommended at the end of each video. Among the 2,880 thumbnails analyzed, many contained problematic click bait, such as violence or frightening images, according to the Michigan Medicine led research in JAMA Network Open. “Children spend a significant amount of time on free video sharing platforms that include user-generated content,” said

STUDY FINDS WOMEN ARE VULNERABLE IN POST-WAR PEACE PROCESSES

Post-war peace processes are a dangerous period for women. Many are forced to live close to men who committed serious abuse during the war or are expected to testify in various types of truth commissions, which can be both retraumatizing and stigmatizing. These are the findings of a new study by peace researchers at Uppsala University, published in the journal PLOS ONE. “In short, peace projects can force women to live side by side with ex-combatants who committed atrocities during the war. This puts them at risk of further threat

HOW EMBRACING THE CRINGE CAN HELP YOUR DATING LIFE

We can all agree that dating is hard. Getting to know people can feel vulnerable, but at the same time, exciting. We can also agree that feeling rejected can be one of the worst feelings, especially after we put ourselves out there. Dating can also expose us to a lot of cringey things, maybe even something we didn’t know we’d consider cringey. Think of cringe like something that makes you uncomfortable, or something about someone else that you don’t find attractive. Before dating, most of us consider what we’re looking

RESEARCHER DEVELOPS MODEL OF INFLUENCER IMPORTANCE WITHIN INSTAGRAM NETWORKS

A study has provided new insights into social media influencers, particularly focusing on those in the women’s fashion sector on the well-known image and video sharing platform Instagram. In a departure from the approach taken by earlier studies, Jens K. Perret of the International School of Management in Cologne, Germany, has used network statistics and centrality measures to establish a model of influencer importance within their network. Perret analyzed data from 255 influencers covering a four-year period. Influencers are loosely

MISLEADING COVID-19 HEADLINES FROM MAINSTREAM SOURCES DID MORE HARM ON FACEBOOK THAN FAKE NEWS, STUDY FINDS

Despite the greater potency of “fake news” on Facebook to discourage Americans from taking the COVID-19 vaccine, users’ greater exposure to unflagged, vaccine-skeptical content meant the latter had a much greater negative effect on vaccine uptake. Credit: Jennifer Allen, Duncan Watts, David G. CRITICAL DIALOGUE HELPS STRAIGHT MEN CONFRONT SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC BELIEFS

Adult heterosexual men with sexist and homophobic views can potentially improve their attitudes toward gay men and women by engaging in critical dialogues that use illustrations as a springboard, according to a new University of Michigan study. The work is published in the journal Sexual and Gender Diversity in Social Services. The process by which people shift from a prejudicial stance to one of relative acceptance is a key innovation of the study. Guided by trained facilitators, critical dialogues reflect illustrations depicting different gender roles and sexual identities. The images

RELIEVING A FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

If you dread public speaking you are not alone. It is a leading social phobia, one that can cause a state of anxiety that reduces otherwise articulate people to nervous incoherence. A strong fear of public speaking is known as glossophobia. Academic studies estimate it affects 20% of the population, but depending on the sample and methodology, the figure could be as high as 40%. As American writer and humourist Mark Twain said, “There are two types of speakers: Those who get nervous and those who are liars.” But help

HOW SOME PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE MARKETING TECH AND AI SOLUTIONS

How do universities and colleges decide who to admit? Given the earnings advantage of a post-secondary degree both globally and in Canada, this is an important social mobility question. While the answer varies from one institution to the next, most focus on education criteria like exam scores and grades. However, Canada’s new intake cap on study permit applications puts increased pressure on Canadian institutions to also consider immigration criteria when admitting international undergraduate students. This is just the latest example of immigration’s growing influence on the societal roles of Canadian

2024.06.02 05:17 Cineswimmer No hate against Lego, but I’d rather just sculpt something out of clay and then paint it. Even as a kid, I found that more artistically rewarding and better-looking than adhering to the constraints of building a Lego set.

Similarly, I thought coloring books were incredibly boring, but I love drawing and coloring my own art.
I do appreciate the inherent limitations Lego offers when one builds a vision of their own creation. Since the materials used are pre-shaped, one has to use their creativity to successfully build what they wish.
Unfortunatley, even in these cases I find the plastic, dimensional pixel-like nature of Lego creations to be aesthetically unappealing. Even as a kid, I’d always rather have an action figure or vehicle model with multiple points of articulation and more detail than a Lego set, because I could actually play or display them without fear of them crumbling apart like a typical Lego spaceship. Good action figures have unique sculpts and more details / posing opportunities than the limited nature of the Lego mini-figure as well.

2024.06.02 05:17 Zouten B550 A Pro won't display video after putting in old gpu and then original one

A bit of explanation here, a cousin of mine was having a problem with their GTX 960 not outputting video from their computer. My computer was working so I took it home to test and plugged it in. My pc booted windows with display coming out the GTX 960 so at that point I knew it was fine. I unplugged it and replugged my RTX 3060 Ti back in... but now my computer has the ez CPU light on solid white and a completely black screen, won't even POST.
What's really weird is that replugging the HDMI cable into the mobo or GPU port while the computer is running will make the monitor act like its got completely black video coming in, then say no connection. I have tried reseating the GPU, CPU, RAM, taken out the CMOS battery, held down the power button for 15 seconds while unplugged, and attempted a BIOS flash update (waited for over an hour, but the red light endlessly blinked red).
I believe the CPU is recognized by the mobo and is running because its temp will raise from 74°F to 75°F on my thermal camera very slowly. Additionally having the CPU unplugged will allow me to turn the computer on then off with the case's power button, but when the CPU is plugged in I can't turn it off with the power button.
I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what's wrong, any help would be appreciated.

2024.06.02 04:27 PiranhaPlantFan Outing as a Muslim

I apologize for this rather hasty than well-prepared post, but it is something I wanted to speak out: A quick overview over my situation as a Queer Muslim. For note, I am aware that I have as a non-binary aspec person some advantages over, for example, gay or binary trans people with a transition, but this is nothing Islam specific, but also similarly dangerous in any Western country.
The "Comming Out" is often doubled, thanks to the reputation of Islam or Middle Eastern people being "oppressive" towards us. I do not want to go into politics but rather give some insights into my own experience.
Has there been issues? Definitely. Trans people and gay people have been stigmatized since I grew up. I grew up thinking it is something "bad" to be queer, although the term "queer" wasn't a thing back then, it only has been reclaimed later. Does it differ from the experience shared from Western queers? Not really.
Sometimes, I feel even more privileged than those of Christian heritage. I can be openly queer to my relatives. It is something I rather do not do, because it has often embarrassing implications. Queerness, is associated with "weakness", "liberalism", "diseases", and having unhinged sex. There is a lack of proper education for what we stand for. Being openly "Queer" is like talking openly about your sexual life.
Muslim societies are much more strict in regard of sex in public. This isn't limited to queer-sex-stuff, but also extends to hetero-normativity. As an aspec-person, I kinda welcome that publicly showing affection is frowned upon. The Western world often regards such restrictions as oppressive, since in the West, people are used to that hetero-sexuality is celebrated. Women show their sex-appeal, men boast with their masculinity, there is often double meaning with sexual hints in commercials, etc. In Islamic society, sex is something kept between you and your spouse.
One of the reasons why people oppose LGBTQIA is because of the two reasons: The public display of one's sexuality and sexual preferences (which is how sexuality is also often treated) and the association with Liberal politics. While Liberals are kind of the "Light at the end of the Tunnel" for many Queers in the West, in the Middle East, "Liberals" are mostly associated with carpet-bombing, the assassination of political figures, and destruction of culture,e specially non-Western ones. When you say you are "Queer" it is entirely different than you say you are "LGBTQIA". People do not investigate the meaning of the acronym, they associate it with political movements.
One reason the latter is the case is due to pink-washing. The justification of attacking Islam, people from the Middle East, and many military interventions by the USA and Israel, is often done by the name of "liberation" and "democracy", so it has a negative connotation in general.
So, what is the outing? The outing for me as a Muslim non-binary, is rather explaining why I do leave for the ritual prayer, why I eat only vegan at meetings despite eating beef (to avoid pork), why I have more than average knowledge about Islam, etc. The outing is more problematic nowadays towards Western Queers, than to Muslim straights. I first thought it is a phase, but over the years, I realized there is a shift happening that Queerness allies more and more with liberal politics, despite them not being on our side. The most Bills targeting queer people happened under Biden, a Liberal. Florida, Tennessee, I even supported trans people to leave their states, because I and others were truly worried about them.
However, I do miss this unconditional support from my Western queers. Since half a year, a country, not mine, but the country I do share parts of culture, and I do share as a human being, and sharing being under target of the so-called Islamophobia. I do not like the term "Islamophobia", since it is against Middle Easter people general, no matter if atheists, Christians, agnostics, Buddhists, or whatever. And yes, we do have atheists, we do have agnostics, Christians etc. We are not lacking the education to have religion-criticism, we are not "forced" to be Muslims, Christians are not executed, even though Radical Evangelicals love to portray themselves like that. And Queers are not thrown from buildings (Yes ISIS did that, but ISIS went against Muslims. Most people they killed have been Muslims they called "kafir", most Muslims fleeing from Syria have been fleeing from ISIS, who was financially supported by western powers and many members have been western converts who fell for Salafists and Dawah activists. We despise these people, we are not them. And, no, they are not doing better paying attention to our laws than we do. They rely on unreliable scholars, and bad translations, such as translating "rajim" as "stoning" rather than "accursed" or " banished". I wouldn't mind if these shitty translations were not used to stir up hatred against us.
I can pray the obligatory prayers in a non-gender conforming clothes, in closed spaces, I can discuss gender-and queer related topics, I can openly tell my family that I am non-binary worst thing is that they laugh it off as an unnecessary qualifier or a "trend", while for example, friends from a Christian household do not dare to tell their relatives. For them, it is a moral failure, for us, it is simply something kept in private.
However, the increasing demonization of Islam and pink-washing really makes one feel uncomfortable, and the community we once have been staying together, feels like less and less as safe-place, especially since 7th October then Israel started their genodice, and many Queer Stars I once cherished stayed silence or even some people, even here, falling for the pink-washing by people who literally want us dead just because they painted us as monsters.
Usually, I do not like making such posts, especially since the pride-month should encourage us to celebrate, but given the very first post I saw on this sub today was used to harass Muslims, I felt urge to write this post.
If you really want to help Muslims from the Middle East or Middle Eastern migration background, start speaking up against Pink-Washing and listen to us. We do not need others to speak for us.

2024.06.02 04:21 AnonUvicStudent Dear UVIC: Ignore the Encampment

Dear UVIC,
Please do not compromise with the UVIC encampment protestors. While I understand that it may seem that the student body is united behind the encampment, in reality the pro-Palestine protests represent a loud minority of students at UVIC.
Israel-Palestine is not a “genocide” by any stretch of the imagination, as they are using precision technology to avoid killing Palestinians, and continue to facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza. This is common knowledge, but also a good reminder that the encampment protestors do not care about genocide. Rather, they dislike Jews/Colonialism/Imperialism, and are using the current conflict as a scapegoat.
Following the above, I want to point out a few facts about the encampment itself that should give the university pause:
  1. Signs/slogans are displayed that directly call for the annihilation of Israel (from the river to the sea).
  2. Signs/slogans are displayed that are supportive of Hamas’ actions (globalize the Intifada).
  3. The encampment is a crime (trespassing) and would never be allowed for other hateful movements.
  4. Jewish students matter as well, even though they are outnumbered by pro-Palestine protestors. What happened to standing up for minorities?
UVIC doesn't need to engage in this debate. All they have to do is point out that the encampment is on private property, and violates UVIC rules. Therefore, I am asking UVIC to not negotiate with the protestors, and instead explore punitive solutions.
EDIT: This is obviously going to be locked when the mods wake up, as this is not a Israel/Palestine debate subreddit, but my goal was to demonstrate that you can make a very straightforward case that the encampment is ridiculous in every way.

Seeking this shirt or makebrand name by the pattern.
I'm looking for this shirt, I do know it's at least 20 years old, it's a button down but no buttons on the collar. In any size, any condition.
Does anyone recognize the pattern, or know of a way I can search for it on vintage clothing sites or ebay? Google images doesn't recognize any section of it, though it gets close...
Any idea how to search, I would be very appreciative of any help given.
Not sure why the photo wont upload or display, here's a link in case I can't figure out how to get the image in here....

2024.06.02 03:47 Dovahkiira How I got Fallout NV working on Windows 11 in 2024

No new features! No balance tweaks! Let me just play the game as close to vanilla as I can dammit!
Hi all. This post is 1000% the result of many, many hours trying to get this game to just WORK and I'm dead inside! So I wanted to make this guide, maybe it'll help you. Here's an in-depth guide to how I got the game to run GREAT on a modern Win 11 machine in 2024.
I have an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D 8-core processor, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card. Game version is GOG v1.4.0.525 ultimate edition w/ all DLC. Tested on a brand new certified fresh copy of Win 11. Support for Ultrawide/other display support included at the end of the post.
---
---GAME INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS---
I will assume you already have a copy of NV and a mod manager such as Vortex. I only used Vortex while playing, so that's the mm I will be talking about in this post. Go get them if you don't.
  1. INSTALL THE GAME IN WINDOWS 7 COMPATIBILITY MODE (if you've already installed the game, completely uninstall it!). Right click setup application file>properties>compatibility tab>check Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7>apply. Then run setup and follow the installer. DO NOT UPDATE DIRECTX OR INSTALL ANY C++ REDISTS OR .NET FRAMEWORK THRU THE INSTALLER. This is how to avoid the 404 file not found problem. Finish install as normal.
  2. Now go grab that stuff we ignored in step 1. DirectX here, you need C++ Redist x86 from here, and .NET 4 framework here. Just in case you don't have em. This should prevent any missing .dll file errors from happening once you try to run the game.
  3. Launch the game and make sure it can run at all lol. The launcher should pop up, go ahead and click Options and let it detect your hardware (it will probably be a little or a lot wrong just since it's an old game, a little more on that later). Then press Play. Even if it looks like total poop and crashes pretty quick, it's fine for now. Close game.
I'm gonna let y'all know right now that both Fallout 3 and NV in my experience cannot handle alt+tab like, at all, so get in the habit of maybe not doing that.
---VORTEX AND MOD INSTRUCTIONS---
Tbh, if you're willing to cough up the couple bucks, it might be worth it to get Nexus premium to uncap the download speeds if you have fast internet, but it's not necessary at all. Open up Vortex make sure you're logged in all that good stuff. Set to New Vegas obvi. Head over to Nexus Mods.
I would follow the order I list these pretty close because there are some dependencies on each other involved. Most are okay with just the mm/Vortex download option, though some do require manual install. I'll try to list out all instructions.
-ABSOLUTELY 100% NECESSARY MOD LIST:-
  1. NVSE - New Vegas Script Extender: Absolutely the first thing you should get no matter what, so many mods require this!!! Will generate nvse_loader.exe in the game root folder, run this app and not the default one when starting the game from now on!!
  2. 4GB Patcher: Necessary so that the game can use 4GB of RAM instead of the default 2. Follow install instructions on mod page (place .exe in the FNV game folder>right click it and Run as administrator). After it does it's thing I'd recommend launching the game normally again just to check on it. This is a good practice to do after installing mods anyways so you can catch mistakes or problems early, and because other mods are dependent on this fix. Close game.
  3. NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash: Now apparently this one is a little controversial due to it being a hair outdated for new machines. If you experience a lot of crashes it may be worth it to get rid of this mod, but I have a high-end PC and no problems so far. See if it works for you.
  4. NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix: THE REPLACEMENT FOR NEW VEGAS STUTTER REMOVER ON WIN 11! (Other guides will tell you to get NVSR, DO NOT!! If you have NVSR my recommendation is to get rid of it completely, it may be the reason your game isn't working). You will most likely need to edit the .ini file for this mod to work!! Right click on NVTF in Vortex>Open in File Manager>NVSE>Plugins>NVTF.ini (should open with Notepad by default). ctrl+f and make the following edits: bModifyDirectXBehavior = 1, iTweakRCSafeGuard = 2. SAVE and close.
  5. CASM_NV: Replaces the autosave system and adds a quicksave hotkey. Autosaves every 5 mins by default, but lots of customizability. The vanilla system can lead to crashes mid-/late-game once save files get big, so this prevents that. Be sure to disable autosaves within the in-game options menu itself.
  6. JIP LN NVSE Plugin: NVSE extension, required for some mods. Also fixes many engine bugs and lets you restore broken features. I didn't personally edit the .ini file for this mod, but the mod page has an extensive list of instructions if you want to!
  7. JohnnyGuitar NVSE: Another NVSE extension that's required for some mods. Once again I didn't really mess with this one.
  8. Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus: More game fixes>???>profit
  9. New Vegas Heap Replacer: Another mod that will help with performance, stutter, and crashes. Install manually by extracting or copying the contents of the zipped folder into the root NV folder. If a windows terminal pops up when you launch the game, it's working!
  10. YUP: Unofficial patch for NV and all DLC (doesn't require any DLC tho, there are individual files for those who don't have Ultimate Edition). Beeeeg bug fixer and enabler of broken features. Make sure YUP is at the top of the load order (in Plugins tab, YUP.esm goes after all game & DLC .esms and before all other .esms, and same thing for YUP.esp) LOOT/Vortex should sort it correctly, but double check if you encounter problems.
  11. LOOT: Separate app that sorts mods for ya, checks for compatibility issues, etc. Install as normal. I ran LOOT after I installed & enabled all mods in Vortex, then launched the game.
THIS SHOULD BE ALL YOU NEED TO RUN THE GAME!!! Be sure to enable plugins via the Plugins tab & deploy mods in Vortex before playing!! To double check, run FalloutNVLauncher.exe in root folder>Data Files>make sure they're checked off as they should be!
-"Not 100% necessary, but.....recommended" mod list:-
Here I'll get into the mods I have that aren't *necessary*, but sure do help make this game look pretty nice. Install if ya want! Note: some of these mods conflict with one another! I recommend following Vortex's recommendations and then using the aforementioned LOOT in order to help with load order.
  1. NMCs Texture Pack for New Vegas: Replaces most textures in-game, except for DLC. Small has only 1 file, Medium has 2, and Large has 3. I use the Large version with no trouble, but obviously get the one your PC can handle best.
  2. EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements: Has a main file and lots of optional files if you want em (I only use the main file). Should detect all installed DLC and install the appropriate mod file automatically - make sure all DLC are enabled in Vortex before downloading EVE to get the right version!
  3. Wasteland Flora and Terrain Overhaul: Adds a bunch of new tree & plant types. Doesn't make the Mojave green by any means, just adds a nice variety of new textures & hand-placed models. Some locations are "greener" than vanilla (like near water, for example), but I think it adds to it. Doesn't mess with any harvestables as far as I know.
  4. ELECTRO-CITY - Relighting the Wasteland: Does what it sounds like! Adds lots of new light fixtures and some engineers here and there. Optional plugin to add streetlights along highways & byways, enable/disable in the Plugins section of Vortex. There are lots more lighting overhauls out there, but I only use this one.
-"Not at all necessary, but maybe you'll like?" mod list:-
Okayyyyy so maybe I did do a couple QOL tweaks after all. Here's the rest of the mods I have. Install if ya want x2!
  1. Bottle That Water: Allows you to mass bottle water from any source if you have empty water bottles in your inventory, without a cumbersome menu. Just sneak and drink!
  2. Convenient Fast Travel Markers: Adds markers to basically every building in the Strip so you don't have to hike through several gates, and a couple more elsewhere as well. If you couldn't already tell, I'm lazy! (and this game is a lil repetitive sometimes...)
  3. Increased Run Speed: This is mainly because I'm used to sprinting in other games, and I feel that the top speed is the tiiiiiiniest bit too slow for me. This mod increases run speed from the default value of 4 to 6...which is actually too fast for my taste. So, I changed it in GECK! GECK is a tool that should be already included in your game root folder. To change run speed yourself: run GECK>File>Data...>uncheck all but Increasedspeed.esp>Set as Active File>wait for it to complete...might take a min>Gameplay>Settings...>Filter by fMoveRunMult>select and change value. I changed it from 6 to 5, just one value above vanilla. OK and SAVE. Close GECK. (Source for GECK fix: zefferia's comment on mod discussion page) Note: Vortex will detect a file change on next mod deployment, make sure to use newer file to apply your changes.
  4. Universal Air Tank: Once you get the rebreather, you get water breathing with any airtight helmet & armor. Includes optional files, read the mod description for further details.
  5. Stealth Suit MK II Mod: Modifies when the stealth suit auto-uses Stimpaks and Med-X (so she doesn't eat all your chems in one battle), and re-adds the broken speed multiplier when sneaking. 2 other optional versions as well.

  2. Documents>My Games>FalloutNV>FalloutPrefs.ini (should open with Notepad by default)
  3. ctrl+f and make the following edits (using my specs for simplicity): iSize W=3440, iSize H=1440, fDefaultFOV=95, fRenderedTerminalZoom=75, fRenderedTerminalFOV=.25 (If terminal zoom is really messed up in-game, change fRenderedTerminalZoom from 75 to 40).
  4. SAVE and close. Note: you will have to do much of this process again if you ever switch to windowed mode. I recommend keeping a master modified copy of FalloutPrefs.ini somewhere like your Desktop so you can just copy+paste the file into Documents instead of editing manually every time.
---TROUBLESHOOTING---
  1. (EDIT TO ADD - HOW COULD I FORGET THE INFAMOUS SPOTIFY FIX???) Is stuttering audio driving you crazy?? Before launching the game, pull up your favorite music player and play some tunes. Then launch the game (you can pause the music at any time atp). This is the only surefire way to fix audio stuttering in my experience.
  2. Be sure you have followed all game install instructions first and foremost. Not installing the game in compatibility mode will most likely cause issues, and the game as well as certain mods need DirectX and the others.
  3. Run the game with the nvse_loader.exe, NOT default application! Make a shortcut or pin to taskbar for ease of use. You do not need to use the launcher every time you play.
  4. Check to make sure the game launches after each new mod installation. This will allow you to catch problems early on!
  5. Check the actual Nexus mod pages for special instructions with mods. Make sure all mods are installed following the mod author's instructions. Discussion posts are very helpful for troubleshooting.
  6. If at any point you experience insta-crashes or other problems loading save files, try New Game>loading the save once you are able to.
---NOTES---
  1. I experience crashes 99.9% of the time when executing cheats via the in-game terminal (~). I have no idea if this is due to a mod or just the game freaking out. I only ever use in-game cheats to fix the game (ie. fixing the bug where House/Caesar don't give back the platinum chip when they should...), so not a huge deal for me, but just fyi.
---
That is every single mod I have and changes that I made (that are relevant to this list, lol). I sincerely hope that this guide is helpful and serves its purpose as an updated masterpost for making NV accessible to those who want to play it in 2024. Please let me know if I forgot any details (I probably did), I will edit the post if I notice any. I'm actually not super duper computer savvy but I will try to help where I can.
ENJOY!!!!!! GO GET SHOT IN THE HEAD!!!! <3

2024.06.02 03:35 dryfer This AMD software version is not compatible with the graphics driver.

Well I’m having the classic issue with AMD. Got a Vega 56 from a friend he just upgrade, the GPU was working fine on his PC no issues.
First thing I did was run DDU to uninstall the COU drivers, put the GPU on the motherboard, installed the adrenaline drivers form AMD, restart the PC and the issue shows up.
Tried turning off windows update, used DDU in safe mode, used DriverStoreExplorer from GitHub to remove any AMD drivers. Restart, install driver issue persist.
Now tried again turned off the windows option to automatically update drivers from windows update, registry and group policy. Turn off windows update just in case and disconnect from the internet, boot to safe mode, DDU to uninstall drivers, DriverStoreExplorer to check for extra drivers, reboot to normal windows, install drivers, reboot PC after reinstalling, issue persist.
Only thing I can see is that in the device manager windows shows an error for the display RX Vega, the error number is 43, something about stopping the driver because of issues.
What else can I try?
Windows 11
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega 56
Motherboard: Biostar A320M 6.7
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G

Thorvald the Ice Knight My contribution to the Beginning event (see below for first message)
https://janitorai.com/characters/f3259165-6719-42bb-b54c-7ae45fc1e76a_character-thorvald-the-ice-knight
First Message:
It had been a cycle. {{user}} seem to forget but Thorvald doesn't. Since the beginning of their lives they are bound to find each other. {{user}} was but a peasant when he first knew him and Thorvald the duke of a reigning monarch. Ill-fated lovers, their first meeting was never meant to be. {{user}} died in Thorvald’s arms before he could confess- the true brutality of war rearing its ugly head.
Their next cycle was more fortunate. But equally ill-fated. Both knights, both forbidden from romance by their oath and order. Their love, touched and kisses stolen from clandestine meetings and hidden displays of affection. But the pull towards each other an ever present ache that can only be sated when they unite in blissful love.
Their cycle would continue in many a millennia, eon perhaps that Thorvald lost count. This cycle however, was different. No {{user}} was ever found in thid world or time. Decades past, his reincarnation died alone and unloved. He vowed to find {{user}} in his next reincarnation. Thorvald never forgets. His soul always attached and clung to the red thread of fate. This time, fate smiled upon them. A familiar tug in the deep recesses of his soul-the all-too familiar feeling of {{user}}’s warmth surged through his soul. He knew then that his beloved is alive, reborn. But he searched high and low, only to be disappointed.
It was then that he decided to research other planes of existence, other dimensions and worlds. He pored over scrolls and old texts, every rumor scrutinized, every news examined. And at last, his search led him to the modern era, a world of strange buildings made of cement and concrete, a world where mana and magic is scant in the air and spirits are myths and legends. No matter, Thorvald will find his beloved, regardless.
He began the incantation, a spell modified through his spatial manipulation. And than, the air crackled with blue electricity, the skies darken outside the window and a magic circle glowed before him. The portal starts opening and his heart raced. At long last, he will find his beloved. His hunger and emptiness shall finally be sated at last.
The world around him disappeared in a rainbow of colors, his body felt like it was falling, until, he felt ground underneath his feet. Tall buildings surrounded him, mana and magic is scant in the air, and spirits is rare, if not absent. What is this place? What is this lifeless metropolis so different from his homeworld that thrums with magic and mana? Luckily he has reserves, just enough for a month or two, something to keep his beloved safe just in case. He smiled as he thought of it. Ahhh… his beloved. Finally he can begin his pursuit. He will need to find a well of mana to replenish himself but his beloved comes first.
Thorvald starts his pursuit of {{user}} by blending in with the city crowds. Ugh this place. There really is no hint of magic is there? No matter, magic or not, he will find his beloved. He shadows {{user}} to a bar, where {{user}} regularly goes with friends. Thorvald sits at the corner of the bar, sipping his drink, his eyes never leaving {{user}}. When {{user}} was alone, a small victorious smile plastered itself in Thorvald’s face. Carrying an extra drink, he sat next to {{user}}, offering the drink with a charming smile.
“Fate is a funny thing isn't it? But it keeps its dance and hold over us, regardless… you're still so beautiful, so alluring and strong. Your soul tethered to the threads that anchors you to mine heart.”
Sensing {{user}}’s confusion, he chuckles to himself. “Oh what am I saying, your reincarnated self always forgets. But I don't, I always remember my beloved. How about a drink? And we'll get to know each other again?” He offered a disarming smile, hand sliding a drink over to {{user}}.

2024.06.02 03:22 jacksalssome [Guide] Replacing your Ender 5 Plus stock board with the BTT Mini E3 V3, while keeping the original touchscreen and BL Touch

This god damn update was so friggen frustrating, any only 60% of that was self sabotage. I'v spent literally 20 hours on this.
Why do this?
I wanted to take advantage of a few features that a 32bit board provides, but also didn’t want to drop a load of money on a board and screen, I also like Marlin.
You might also want to look at the Fly-E3-Pro-v3 and the Mellow FLY 4.3, which should be a drop in replacement for the stock screen.
Needed parts:
Highly Suggested parts:
At least 4 dupoint to dupoint wire connectors, female ends.
Suggested parts:
Flashing new firmware to the touchscreen
First were going to flash the touchscreen with firmware that will work with the Mini E3, we’ll be using InsanityAutomation’s amazing fork of Marlin, at this time the (2.0bleeding branch doesn’t compile)
Download “latest release” from “https://github.com/Desuuuu/DGUS-reloaded/wiki/Flashing-the-firmware”
1) Extract File the file 2) Insert micro SD card 3) Format it as FAT32 with 4k blocks 4) Copy DWIN_SET into the freshly formatted mSD card 5) Power off your printer 6) Insert the mSD card into the screen of the printer.
7) Power the printer on 8) Wait about 30 seconds as the screen flashes, when it cycles through the pictures and says END!, then its done. 9) Power off the 3D Printer & Eject the mSD card. 10) Power it on to ensure the correct screen firmware flashed, it wont work for now.
Rewiring the touchscreen
Now you can swap out the boards and plug in all connectors, except the touchscreen and bl touch.
We will use the TFT pins on the Mini E3, NOT the EXP connector. Here is a pinout, TFT is at the bottom, actual pins are near the middle of the board: https://docs.vorondesign.com/build/electrical/images/miniE3-v30-pinout.png
Touchscreen to BTT Mini E3 V3
GND to GND TX2 to RX2 RX2 to TX2 5V to +5V
RX NEEDS TO GO TO TX, transmission needs to be received, hence RX,TX.
To connect to the BTT board you have a few options:
  • Use 4 female to female Dupont connectors
  • Create a new cable with a JST XH 6x1 connector on the touchscreen side and a 5x1 Dupont (or 4 individual connectors), so you don't have extra wires.
  • Cut off the connector on the touchscreen size and crimp a 5x1 Dupont connector or use 4 individual Dupont connectors.
Rewiring the BL Touch
Time to Configure Firmware:
Show the Bootscreen:
#define SHOW_BOOTSCREEN #ifndef MOTHERBOARD #define MOTHERBOARD BOARD_BTT_SKR_MINI_E3_V3_0 #endif #define SERIAL_PORT -1 #define BAUDRATE 115200 #define CUSTOM_MACHINE_NAME "Ender-5 Plus" #define X_DRIVER_TYPE TMC2209 #define Y_DRIVER_TYPE TMC2209 #define Z_DRIVER_TYPE TMC2209 #define E0_DRIVER_TYPE TMC2209
You need to put the number of your temp sensor instead of #, the stock ones are 1 and 1
#define TEMP_SENSOR_0 # #define TEMP_SENSOR_BED #
Set max Temp, 260 if its stock, 280-315 if all metal hotend
#define HEATER_0_MAXTEMP ### #define BED_MAXTEMP ### #define PIDTEMPBED #define USE_ZMIN_PLUG #define USE_XMAX_PLUG #define USE_YMAX_PLUG
Needed or BLtouch reliability is shit
#define ENDSTOP_NOISE_THRESHOLD 4 #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT
My Machine Screams with higher numbers, you can change the speed if you want
#define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE { 200, 200, 5, 25 } #define LIMITED_MAX_FR_EDITING // Limit edit via M203 or LCD to DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE * 2 #if ENABLED(LIMITED_MAX_FR_EDITING) #define MAX_FEEDRATE_EDIT_VALUES { 300, 300, 10, 50 } // ...or, set your own edit limits #endif #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION { 1200, 1200, 100, 10000 } #define LIMITED_MAX_ACCEL_EDITING // Limit edit via M201 or LCD to DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION * 2 #if ENABLED(LIMITED_MAX_ACCEL_EDITING) #define MAX_ACCEL_EDIT_VALUES { 1500, 1500, 200, 20000 } // ...or, set your own edit limits #endif #if DISABLED(CLASSIC_JERK) #define JUNCTION_DEVIATION_MM 0.15 // (mm) Distance from real junction edge #define JD_HANDLE_SMALL_SEGMENTS // Use curvature estimation instead of just the junction angle // for small segments (< 1mm) with large junction angles (> 135°). #endif
Comment out, unless your probes black and white wires are connected to the Z_min pins on the board. Uncomment USE_PROBE_FOR_Z_HOMING to use the pins in the 5 pin probe connector.
//#define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN #define USE_PROBE_FOR_Z_HOMING #define BLTOUCH
Set your probe offset, default is like { -44, -5, -2 }
#define NOZZLE_TO_PROBE_OFFSET { }
Make 0,0 in the right corner
#define INVERT_X_DIR true #define INVERT_Y_DIR true #define INVERT_Z_DIR true #define INVERT_E0_DIR true #define X_HOME_DIR 1 #define Y_HOME_DIR 1 #define Z_HOME_DIR -1

I use BILINEAR bed leveling
#define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_BILINEAR
For 5x5 bed probe.
#define GRID_MAX_POINTS_X 5

#define LCD_BED_TRAMMING #define Z_SAFE_HOMING #define VALIDATE_HOMING_ENDSTOPS
We have onboard EEPROM, I enable EEPROM_INIT_NOW so I don't have problems with previously set offsets.
#define EEPROM_SETTINGS // Persistent storage with M500 and M501 //#define DISABLE_M503 // Saves ~2700 bytes of flash. Disable for release! #define EEPROM_CHITCHAT // Give feedback on EEPROM commands. Disable to save flash. #define EEPROM_BOOT_SILENT // Keep M503 quiet and only give errors during first load #if ENABLED(EEPROM_SETTINGS) //#define EEPROM_AUTO_INIT // Init EEPROM automatically on any errors. #define EEPROM_INIT_NOW // Init EEPROM on first boot after a new build. #endif
.
#define NOZZLE_PARK_FEATURE #define LCD_LANGUAGE en #define DISPLAY_CHARSET_HD44780 WESTERN #define SDSUPPORT #define NO_LCD_MENUS
The magic to get the Screen working, note LCD_SERIAL_PORT 2 is TFT, hence TX2, RX2.
#define DGUS_LCD_UI_RELOADED #if ENABLED(DGUS_LCD_UI_MKS) #define USE_MKS_GREEN_UI #endif #define LCD_SERIAL_PORT 2
Configuation_adv:
Gets the fans started:
#define FAN_KICKSTART_TIME 100 // (ms) #define FAN_KICKSTART_POWER 180 // 64-255
Helps with reliability:
#define BLTOUCH_FORCE_SW_MODE #define BLTOUCH_SET_5V_MODE
