2024.05.31 00:55 No_Sir_601 How to PRINT your KeePass database
Saving digital copies of your KeePass database can be difficult, or scary. You may be concerned about device failure or data corruption. Here is a solution you might consider. Before making the final paper backup, please test it for errors.
CREATE THE PRINTABLE DATABASE
- Visit CyberChef https://gchq.github.io/CyberChef, for extra security you can download it on your USB drive, and use on an offline, Linux live system.
- In the top right corner (Input), choose your KeePass database as the "input file". Once the file is loaded, you will see a string of nonsense characters. This is normal.
- In the left menu, find "DATA FORMAT" and the submenu "To Base58".
- Drag and drop this "plugin" into the vertical window on the right (Recipe).
- You may see some "wheels" indicating that the computer is processing the calculations.
- Once completed, you will see a long string of alphanumeric symbols in the bottom right box (Output). Click on the small "save" icon and save it as a text file, e.g., keepasswallet_base58.txt.
What this process does is convert your database byte by byte into Base58 encoding. Base58 encoding, also used in Bitcoin addressing system, includes only letters and numbers, excluding similar characters like 0 and O. This is crucial if you plan to scan your printed file in the future.
RECOVERING (TESTING) THE PRINTABLE DATABASE
- Find your keepasswallet_base58.txt file and open it with a text editor. Avoid using Word; use a text editor that displays all characters in a monospace font, such as Notepad application. Monospace fonts are the easiest to scan without errors.
- Print your file. It will span several pages, so ensure they are numbered.
- Scan your printed file and combine all the characters into one new *.txt file. Ensure that no changes, such as added spaces or line breaks, have been made. The file should appear as one continuous "word" with thousands of characters. Check that you have LF breaks, as these may or may not cause problems.
- Using the same tool as above, CyberChef, clear all inputs/recipes, and load the scanned .txt file into Input. (You can actually paste the scanned text directly in the input window, as plaintext, if you wish.)
- Load the Recipe "From Base58".
- You will now get a string of nonsense characters in the Output field.
- In the Output window, click on the save icon and save it as a KeePass database file, e.g., recovered.kdb (or kdbx for KeePassXC).
- Open it in the same way as your initial database. If successfully opened, it means that you have got a hard, analog copy that is proven to work.
Now you can print numerous copies and distribute them across various places (cities, countries).

2024.05.27 15:10 MidoriDesutoroi Easily switch between HDMI and CRT with Retrocastle's dual RAM Mister FPGA
| Retrocastle released recently a new build for their Mister FPGA, with it you can have 2 sticks of RAM and still keep the IO board with the VGA port, the drawback is that you have to choose between using the HDMI out OR the VGA out for outputting video. Because of this I came up with a kind of a makeshift solution: swapping the flat cable that came with the Mister with a longer one and using a HDMI switcher with 1 input and 2 outputs to be able to easily switch between the analog and digital video outputs, without having to keep connecting and disconnecting the video cables, as can be seen in the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV7dGnw4dWc To achieve this, all you need is a longer flat cable and a HDMI switcher with 1 input and 2 outputs (as mentioned before). The single input port should be connected to the HDMI port on the DE10 Nano, and of the 2 output HDMI ports, in one of them you should connect the little square thing with the HDMI connector that came with the Mister (that would be normally connected to the HDMI port on the DE10 Nano), on the other output HDMI port you should connect your TV. I also made 3D printable bases to hold all the components together and make the Mister easy to move: https://www.printables.com/model/882636-base-for-the-mister-fpga-from-retrocastle-zip-ties https://www.printables.com/model/882827-base-for-the-mister-fpga-from-retrocastle-screws-v The components that were tested are as follow: (I can't post links here to where to find the components I used (all of them I bought from Ali), but my post on the Mister forums has everything https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=7991) HDMI switcher: (note that this is only a list of tested models. Any model that is HDMI 2.0 or below and has 2 output HDMI ports might work): . . . Tested by me and works perfectly: https://preview.redd.it/tyxkpbatwy2d1.png?width=200&format=png&auto=webp&s=eedbaf231ea1a544cae0b792874baf26bbf2239c . . . Also tested by me and works, but will need to be connected to an external power source using an USB-C cable: https://preview.redd.it/8t046mpvwy2d1.png?width=200&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0a2e5c530db7a9fdd7b113f3d5dcf7f60b2f262 . . . Tested by Ivory from Retrocastle, works perfectly. Since I don't have it, I couldn't make a base specifically for it, but it can be used with the zip ties version of the base: https://preview.redd.it/1kxm137ywy2d1.png?width=200&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c5dca274a04d0929d85f625339653310f088270 . . . Flat cable: I bought one that has 200mm lengh, 12P (12 pins on both ends) and 1.0mm pitch. It worked, although it was a little too long, maybe the 150mm model would fit better, but I'm not sure. submitted by MidoriDesutoroi to MiSTerFPGA [link] [comments] |

2024.05.24 22:56 Bronce-Skull I need help on making maps for in-person sessions (mainly finding proper assets for terrain)
Hello there!
I'm a DM that switches from digital to analog sessions at the moment and I need some help and maybe tips in terms of resources for preparing (battle) maps.
So let me describe my problem: I want to use maps for my players and I've found some nice stuff, to be exact its dungeon craft from 1985 games. Now this is quite expensive (or at least the shipping is). Does anyone here has tips on getting anything thats close to that? Maybe even printable? (I'm from europe, thats why its expensive)
I ask this since I searched but cant find anything that can help me.
Thank you in advance for helping me!

2024.04.25 06:02 anny_t_ka Cracking the Grammar Code: Gamified Tactics for Mastering German Like a Boss
| https://preview.redd.it/vwxyvx974ewc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=5897eecd98f3f6d42f5fc5ecec968f31d94d3da7 Ah, German grammar — the looming, Frankensteinian beast that haunts the dreams of even the bravest language learners. With its daunting case systems, mind-boggling compound nouns, and delightfully tongue-twisting consonant clusters, getting a solid handle on the rules can feel more daunting than scaling the Matterhorn in lederhosen. But what if we told you there was a way to tame this frightening grammatic franken-monster? By harnessing the power of interactive, gamified learning strategies, you could potentially reprogram your brain to absorb and apply the intricacies of German grammar like a slick Teutonic machine. Now, we know what you’re thinking — how could something as humdrum as grammar drills ever be considered “fun”? But stick with me here. These aren’t your garden-variety fill-in-the-blank worksheets destined for the recycling bin. We’re talking full-blown immersive brain-training that hooks your competitive drive and transforms tenses into adrenaline-packed battles to the language victor’s podium. Digital Duels and Quest-Based Conjugation Thanks to technology, innovative apps and online platforms are transforming esoteric grammar concepts into epic story-driven campaigns. You’ll find yourself leveling uprie, verb tables as you progress through German language quests. By personifying grammar rules as mythical characters or fierce opponents to be conquered, even the dreaded Akkusativ and Dativ cases take on an irresistible video game sheen. Better yet, many programs now integrate speech recognition, soarmed enemy figures on-screen will hurl gendered nouns at you to properly pluralize or identify the linguistic warriors lurking within compound word fortresses. Talk about immersive! Board Games That Let Nouns and Verbs Mingle On the flip side, plenty of old-school analog activities can still add some spice to textbook tedium. Board and card games offer clever physical mechanics for visualizing and internalizing syntax, article usage, gender agreements, and more. Envision verb math races where you blurt out perfectly conjugated forms while hurtling tokens around the board. Or collaborative card-based storytelling that incentivizes creativity while organically reinforcing vocabulary alongside grammar lessons. All happening amid raucous laughter and friendly trash-talking that ups the learning ante. https://preview.redd.it/bhn7d1z74ewc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=c7ddb41f4b4a8a0da0e3691fa33a56b1357c5ac3 When Screen-Free Still Means Interactive Even without digital frills or gamified bells-and-whistles, there are plenty of hands-on methods for getting your grammar groove on. Engaging classroom antics like drillithons — where students take turns verbally firing off grammar challenges — can harness peer competition and social dynamics for primo retention. Or get your inner theatrical flair on through tools like grammar songs and cheeky skits acted out with exaggerated emphases on proper noun cases and verb conjugations. The sillier and more ridiculous the scenario, the more those foundational grammar tenets will solidify. At the end of the day, injecting playfulness and immersive participation into the dreary process of grammar study accomplishes something truly magical — it goads your brain into processing linguistic patterns as familiar systems and symbols rather than ethereal academic constructs. Whether battling furry German mascots or clashing word warriors, those foundational grammar concepts become intuitive pieces of an irresistible gamified experience you’ll hungrily crave more of. So ditch the dusty textbook for tech-savvy adventures, physical challenges, or straight-up ludic linguistic lunacy. Treat your brain to those sweet, sweet grammar gratifications it didn’t even realize it craved. The more you make grammar acquisition feel like indulging in German Gesamt levels of fun and competition, the more hardwired those pesky rules and exceptions will become. And who knows — maybe with enough gamified grammar-geddon breakthroughs, you’ll find yourself actually looking forward to flexing those new hard-earned skills as you Anschluss to conversational mastery of this once-monstrous language. So, what gamified techniques have worked best for your personal language triumph quest so far? Or if you’re still seeking the ideal immersive grammar hack, what’s your preferred learning style — app gaming, tabletop theatrics, good old-fashioned grammar games and stories? We’re all ears for new tactics to try, so hit us with those interactive German grammar secrets in the comments!
