I don't play any games but my degree currently requires some software intensive tools and me and my friend are also in the process of starting a small scale solutions company and I was wondering if the MSI Katana Laptop 17 B12UDXK had longevity to it?
To note, I don't play any games on my laptops either I had a Surface for a few years now that's become slow, I just need a powerful laptop that can last 5-8 years and the MSI Katana 17 B12UDXK looks great for its value.

2024.05.19 03:13 mrbuilderbuilder Long term build on a budget

So this is an interesting dilemma I'm in. My current PC is old, about 8 years I think. It is a mini-pc I built myself with a Skylake i3 6100 (2 cores plus hyperthreading) By tweaking game settings, I've even been able to play something like Skyrim with horrible potato graphics.
I'm starting to run into issue as drivers are no longer supported and hardware is slowly failing. WiFi card just died the other day and the fans are making bad noises.
I can keep it running a little longer, but I've made it almost a decade on an iGPU. I need to plan to replace it within the next year and hopefully have something that will get me 8 years.
My build is below. I'm less concerned about the size (mATX case with itx board) than I am with a good budget build. I'm playing games less and less and something stable and reliable is more important. I don't do video editing or heavy CAD, but I do those things occasionally. I'm not needing super fast modeling or editing. A few extra seconds/minutes/hours when I push the limits is fine.
The goal with this build is to be able to upgrade if I determine it is important for a new hobby or I find time to game. CPU can be swapped to a newer i7 if needed. GPU is absent, but I can watch for deals. I'm thinking of playing with machine learning a little and all I know so far is that more vram is better.
Please suggest alternatives and share your feedback. I'm open to an AM5 build, but I've always built with intel and have no experience with driver support etc.

Three year old surface pro 8. I always have the keyboard case on. The other day, I opened and turned it on and noticed these dead pixel-looking marks. it’s only really noticeable on a dark background. Is this just dead pixels, or something else? Not sure what could have caused it since I really don’t bring this thing with me anywhere.
Given this is three years old, I’m also assuming i’m SOL when it comes to warranty service (purchased directly from MS).

2024.05.19 02:53 Standard-Lock6414 Broken ankle recovery

I’m a 17 y/o who broke her ankle (tibia and fibula) this year on March 25th and ended up getting surgery a week after on 4/3. I saw the orthopedic 2 weeks after for post op and he said another 6 weeks NWB (so a total of 8 weeks NWB since I was in a cast for the 2 weeks right after my surgery). I feel like this is a long time and as a teen, my instinct has simply been to start walking again. I begun weight bearing 3 weeks after my surgery by “standing”, which was more of simply putting my foot down but putting little to no weight on it, it would just be flat on the ground as if I was actually standing. By weeks 4-5 I was tapping my foot on the ground while crutching or even taking small steps with about 25% of my weight. Now, 6 weeks NWB, I take small steps throughout the day and have had small incidents where I’ve been forced to full weight bear to catch my balance and avoid falling/slipping. My ROM is really good as far as my physical therapist says and I haven’t had any pain at all since my surgery. I feel like I can start walking right now if I wanted to, but the doctor and PT words stop me from doing so in order to avoid further troubles and a 2nd surgery, and as a teen I know I’m able to hear much faster. I see my doctor in about 2 weeks where hopefully I’ll be able to start FWB right away, since he dragged it with the 8-week healing time. To be honest I don’t think my injury was that serious, especially after reading so much stories with people who had much worse fractures but started WB earlier and were also older than me.
My question is: Do you think I’ll be able to FWB immediately the day I see my doctor for a recovery check up? I don’t mean gradually going down to one crutch or start FWB with a boot, I mean literally going back to walking normally as if nothing ever happened.
I feel like it is possible and I feel confident enough to do it. I will attach some pictures of what my injury looks like to show you guys, hopefully a doctor sees them and gives me a 2nd opinion lol.

2024.05.19 02:52 Emrald2007 Will my factory wiring be enough to support this?

I’m thinking abt getting like 10 or 12 gauge wire because people say it is better to wire the speakers to amp.
I’m currently running a skar set (it was a complete loaded enclosure set like the one in the picture; except it was SDR series 8” with 350w amp) and I’m just gonna swap the amp and speaker since I already have all the wires necessary.
I probably will also swap that 12ga wire for my current wire that I have connecting the amp to the amp-on wire that I tapped into from the factory amp. I’m using a Line Output Converter tapping into the factory + and - subwoofer wires which was the only thing I’m not using for my setup that didn’t come with the skar set.
However the question I’m here to ask is because of what someone said on a previous post that I had (which I deleted). They told me “good luck because the factory power won’t be enough to support that amp,” and I’m confused on what that means. Do I need an aftermarket battery for this? Or can I keep it in my setup as I have it now? I believe that all the wires in the new set I’m buying are the same exact ones that came in the SDR 8” set.
Please let me know and give me any advice I’m new to this but I also got all my wiring right first try on my 8” SDR set, so the youtube tutorials must have been good enough and I must be doing stuff right😂

When I was 8 years old, my mom died. My dad left a little later and vanished from my life. My grandparents raised me and my siblings. 9 years later, my dad sees my twin sister at her job. He wants to reconnect with us. He used to be on the streets with drugs and alcohol. Over the 9 years, he has cleaned himself up. He now has a stable job, a wife, and goes to church. I want my dad back. I want to reconnect with him. But he needs to gain my trust first. My grandmother on the other hand, is a whole different story. She got so mad when my sister told her she saw dad. She’s screaming at us, telling us how awful he is and that he doesn’t deserve us… blah blah blah! I know she’s scared to loose us. But I’m 17!
