2024.05.16 14:41 Yeji-- Civic 1993 built vs Lancer GT 2016

So the thing is, me and my brother are both riders mainly, so our deal are sport bikes, but we also have a Lancer GT we share sometimes just for convenience, recently he saw a Civic 1993 turbo, built project and thought about exchanging 1:1 for our own car, I don't know if its a worth decision, since our car (although very basic and kinda meh) is 2016, and this civic is 30 years old, our car is stock and ill list bellow his specs from the car listing. (have in mind the specs are roughly translated because English is not my main language).
He mentioned the car is running at 500 WHP on these specs: (shitty screenshot from video attached)

2024.05.15 23:02 sabalint Which sub-$1500 hard tail should I buy?

I started riding again during the pandemic and finally feel I can justify replacing by older entry level xc hard tail with something more modern. I ride most frequently on rocky and chunky desert trails in the western United States, mainly around Las Vegas, NV. I also want to use this bike at my local pump track. I live about 2 miles from my nearest mtb trail and often ride to the trailhead. I started riding again for fitness and am looking for a more modern bike to push my control and speed on current trails. I am looking at this bike as an intermediate step so as I keep riding I can move to a full suspension one I can justify a higher budget. I am considering a Cannondale habit ht, a specialized fuse 27.5 and a Poseidon Norton. I am coming from a very old school 26 inch wheeled xc bike I pulled out of the garage. I have considered used, but am wary of the condition and maintenance of used full sus bikes in my price range and have failed to reach agreeable prices on more modern used hardtail bikes in my area. Thoughts?

Go0dbye GT Aggressor Pro, Hello Poseidon Norton!!!
The GT Aggressor Pro was good to me for 4yrs but it was time for an upgrade with updated geometry thru-axles and a tapered headtube. Technically the Poseidon Norton is still a budget bike considering it's the least expensive new frame you can buy (originally $399 but on sale for $299) also even though I had to buy same new parts I also got them on sale (Rockshox Domain RC 160mm originally $587 on sale for $260 and actually less expensive then what i paid for my straight steerer QR 120mm Rockshox Recon RL. Wheels are originally around $140 each but I got them both off ebay brand new for $90 each) Overall I love the new bike, except I'm kind of hating the look of that 200mm Hope orange rotor but it's the only 200mm floating rotor I could get delivered fast.

Finally part of the Hardcore Hardtail Gang
Went from a 2021 Dick's Sporting Goods highly upgraded GT Aggressor Pro to a Poseidon Norton XL with 160mm Rockshox Domain fork. TBH the frame, even though it's an XL feels a little bit small and the cockpit is a little more cramped then on my GT but I'll get used to it. Withe 160mm fork I thought it would feel really slack but it actually doesn't. I literally JUST finished building it. Probably half-ish of the bike is new including obviously the frame, fork, thru-axle wheels, front brake rotor (had to go with the orange colored Hope rotor because it's the only 200mm one I could get shipped the quickest), 3mm offset chain ring and wider seat post (I plan on eventually getting a dropper but I've already spent around $900 just on those few parts so I'm gonna chill for a while with spending money. The rest of the stuff was off my other bike.

2024.05.14 21:46 United-Ad7788 What bike is easily obtainable and recommended for Bafang BBSHD conversion kit?

As of now I was following a recommendation on another thread for these specifications: Hardtail, mountain bike, hydraulic disk brakes >160mm, Shimano XT, SLX drive train, dropper post, and front fork >100mm. Not sure how ideal this is as I am a complete beginner to E-bikes.
A bike that caught my eye is “The Norton” Poseidon bike if I am buying new. My budget isn’t really limited other than not going too much over $2k since I’m anticipating for it to last a long time and save gas. As a beginner in the U.S. I just want to be pointed in a better direction of what bikes give an easier conversion with the BBSHD kit. Any advice is appreciated and I look forward to learning!

2024.05.10 08:25 ShoeGod420 Anyone rocking a stock Rockshox Domain? How do you like it?

I just ordered a Rockshox Domain. I couldn't pass up the price, $260 for the 160mm travel version. It's way overboard for what I need but I'll be kicking myself in the butt later if I didn't pull the trigger now. I'll be putting it on my Poseidon Norton frame next week when i get both the frame and the fork, oh and a new thru-axle front wheel. I'm currently rocking a Rockshox Recon RL 120mm. I'll be posting a build pic late next week after I get everything transfered from my current bike to the new frame plus the new fork and wheel.
I've heard some good and some bad about the fork, I've heard it can be a harsh ride, i have no idea what that means, but then I've also heard it's buttery smooth too. Again, it's overkill for what I ride but tbh it's the best deal you can get imo on a really solid big travel fork, i mean shit, i paid $270 for my straight steerer, Quick release 120mm Rockshox Recon about a year and a half ago and that is basically an entry level fork. After all these upgrades, the frame, fork, both wheels (since my current wheels are QR) the only thing I need to do is buy a dropper and i plan on doing that in 2 or 3 weeks.

2024.05.08 18:42 Alternative_Error_38 Scary dream about Ann 😭

I think I was Norton the whole time, but the setting was modern. Basically Ann wouldn't stop chasing me. I started running and running like crazy so she couldn't keep up. She used her cats to jump and gain distance too. I rode on a bike and that didn't help. I ran into a building and managed to get in an elevator, but tricked her by going back to the first floor so she'd still be walking up the stairs. That didn't buy much time either though. I had so much adrenaline and fear. Then we both ended up being on bikes and that was kind of funny honestly.
But I found myself running on a really narrow bridge that was hovering about an inch over stormy waters. Psychologist came out of nowhere and tried to bodyblock, but I just gave up and drowned myself. I saw Norton's floating body, face down, in 3rd person 😭
Then suddenly the setting was a room with Ann sitting on a couch, looking at a photo of drowned Norton. Apparently she had been chasing him down for 100 days, but I kept thinking it was a week. Ann was like that meme of the snail that'll keep chasing you and if it touches you, you'll die, but definitely way faster and horrifying...
I think it's time for a break from IDV 🫠

2024.05.05 07:37 ShoeGod420 Sizing question for any Poseidon Norton owners

Sizing question for any Poseidon Norton owners
My XL Poseidon Norton frame arrives on Monday, but I have a bit of a concern. After ordering the bike frame I took another look at the geometry earlier today and noticed that it seems smaller then a normal XL frame. This has got me worried because I'm 6'2 and my currrent frame is a 21 inch XL frame and its size is perfect. After looking at the geometry of the XL Nortan frame it looks like their version of an XL is 18.5 inches which for every other bike brand would be considered between a size medium and large. Am i looking at the wrong number? The number I'm looking at which i thought was always used for frame sizing is the seat tube length, which for their XL frame is 18.5 inches whereas the seat tube length on my current bike is 21 inches. Did i just f*** up and buy a frame that's going to be too small for me? Please tell me I'm wrong because i can't imagine a bike being advertised as XL but only being 18.5 inches.

2024.05.03 21:52 HRJafael Every Mass. city and town awarded money for upgrades.

Every Mass. city and town awarded money for upgrades.
MELROSE, Mass. — Gov. Maura Healey on Friday signed legislation that awards money to every city and town in Massachusetts to fund bridge and road maintenance and other infrastructure projects.
The Chapter 90 bill calls for $200 million in funding for Fiscal Year 2025 to facilitate longstanding and newly identified projects and improvements including:
• Bridge repairs and reconstruction
• Roadway, bike path, sidewalk, and curbing construction
• Accessibility improvements
• Milling and paving
• Lighting and traffic signal improvements
In addition to the Chapter 90 funding, the Rural Roadway Funding program and six transportation infrastructure grant programs will each receive $25 million:
Every municipality in the state is allocated a portion of total program dollars, which allows them to evaluate their unique transportation needs and goals and allocate funding dollars accordingly.
“We know that residents’ quality of life and our state’s economic strength depends on people being able to get where they need to go safely and on time,” Healey said. “These Chapter 90 funds and millions more for six grant programs will help us deliver on critical road, bridge, and infrastructure projects that communities and the traveling public need. We’re proud to sign this bill into law today and grateful to the Legislature for their partnership.”
Municipal Pavement Program
Focuses on the improvement of municipally-owned state-number routes. Projects are selected based on pavement condition data, the proportion of state-numbered routes in poor condition in a municipality, and geographic equity.
Municipal Small Bridge Program
Provides financial assistance to cities and towns for small bridge replacement, preservation, and rehabilitation projects. To be eligible, bridges must be on a local public way and must be on the State Bridge Inventory with a span between 10 and 20 feet.
Rural Roadway Funding Program
Distributes funds to all 351 municipalities using a formula based on local road mileage, municipal population, and rurality.
Complete Streets Funding Program
Provides funding for municipalities to build infrastructure for “complete streets” projects that support travel for everyone whether they walk, bicycle, take public transportation, or drive.
Municipal Bus Enhancement Program
Provides grant funding to build out infrastructure related to mass transit by bus.
Mass Transit Access Grant Program
Provides grants for design and construction improvements to access commuter rail stations or other mass transit stations, such as parking lots, drop-off and pick-up zones, bicycle storage infrastructure, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Municipal/Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Electric Vehicle (EV) Grant Program
Provides grants to RTAs and municipalities for the purchase of electric vehicles and related charging equipment.
Healey signed the bill in Melrose alongside Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, Administration and Finance Secretary Matthew Gorzkowicz, Transportation Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt, and Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis.
Melrose has been using Chapter 90 funding to support several road improvement projects on Main Street.
“Chapter 90 funds give towns and cities the chance to improve the safety, function, and beauty of our local neighborhoods and local transportation infrastructure,” Grigoraitis said. “The additional Chapter 90 funding in the law signed today will make a world of difference for cities like Melrose and enable us to continue to pursue proactive and high-impact improvements to local roads and routes.”

2024.05.03 16:43 oreolover444 Another Clutch Isssue (Help Please)

I will say I ride the bike pretty hard, and I just replaced the clutch plates for the third time. I have already purchased the norton springs and installed them last season, and upgraded the the bearing and pull rod.
A couple months ago I changed out the clutch cable and changed the oil and all was well. But like I said I changed the plates out a few days ago after I started to get some slippage.
Im still slipping HARD, first gear will get up to 4k RPM and then rev all the way with no power behind the throttle. I have been non stop trying to adjust the freeplay up by the lever, and by the clutch housing. With no avail I can not get it right.
It is hard to get a direct answer for what the problem can be so I thought I would ask here. When I replace the clutch cable is there a certain specification to getting the right length to get it to engage right? Is my actuator arm not fully connected to the pull rod? Do I just need to change the oil? I know for sure I put the plates and disc in the correct order (as I have had to take the clutch apart so many times) I just can not seem to figure out this problem.
Any insight would be helpful, thanks gang.

2024.04.25 23:28 globen What is your family's motorcycle lineage?

Just curious to know how far back in your family riding goes and what kind of bikes they owned.
My grandpa rode a '35 Indian Scout. My dad rode a '72 Norton 850 Commando. My older brother rides a 2016 Ducat Scrambler. My younger brother rides a 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan and I ride a 2021 Yamaha xsr900.
I'm interested to hear what other people's families have in their stables.
Edit: I forgot to add that my wife rides a 2017 Yamaha fz07 and she is mad that I left her off the list.

2024.04.25 02:37 srogue Axum, Poseidon,, or OTR

I am in the market for a very budget MTB. I've spent way too much on bikes this past month, but need one more (or at least I think)
My wife and son and I want to go to a local bike mountain trail that has green, blue, and black trails. We will start on the greens of course. My current bike is a Poseidon redwood with drop bars. I've already upgraded the tires and wheels and will be using it at the mountain. My son uses a late '90s Iron Horse Warrior with 26", 3x7, rim brakes, and chromoly frame. My wife currently has a road bike that won't be going on the trails, so we need a bike for her (or my son or I, whichever ends up being the better two mountain biking bikes if she isn't going)
I have a budget of 1000 or under, all in.
I am looking at the Axum DP, OTR, or a Poseidon Norton Frame ($300.)
I want to be able to upgrade these to or be able to use Thru-Axles on whichever I choose. I currently have a set of 27.5 wheels from my redwood that I could use with the Norton (has tires too, and a Microshift AdventX cassette and rotors on them already) so this would cut some cost on a Norton build. I would also like to upgrade whichever bike I choose to use these wheels and a microshift AdventX shiftederailleur to go with the cassette. I know this would probably mean a new bb/crankset, and that is fine as well. Also kinda want a dropper as well, hence the Axum in the mix.
Which of these three bikes makes the most sense for the money, and has the best upgrade path for me? Thanks!
*edit
Add the Grand Canyon 5 to the list, they are 650, free shipping, and I might be able to score a referral code for 90 off.

2024.04.25 01:50 srogue Which of these four MTB would you choose?

I am looking at four bikes and I want to see if any of you have experience with these or have some guidance on which is the better choice. I will be mainly using these for green and blue trails at a local bike mountain area. This will be an additional bike for me, my son will be using my old mountainbike (late 1990s Iron Horse warrior) that is in excellent condition. We are both just starting out with mountain biking, but have been road biking a lot over the past two weeks trying to get our cardio and legs into biking shape, been making great progress.
Specialized Fuse 27.5 for 1000 out the door.
Cannondale SE Trail 3 for 1000 out the door.
Trek Roscoe 8 (Seller on FBM is asking 1400, says it is in like new condition, etc) could always offer less too.
Finally, I could buy a Poseidon Norton for 699 out the door, just replace the fork, and install a dropper. this price gives me 300 dollars to play with vs the other ones, and I can sell the fork it comes with (XCR)
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

2024.04.21 00:09 17cjlk Can't shift

Need some help.
So I have the Norton clutch upgrade kit on my 400 22.
I can't shift. I have 6th and 5th which is where it got stuck at on my ride.
So I pulled the case cover off and looked inside. Plates all look good I think? No cracks or anything. Just oil, no shavings, no broken teeth that I can see.
So once I pulled clutch plates out I was able to shift easily through the gears.
So I put it in neutral and slapped it back together.
Still can't shift out of Neutral into first unless I'm pressing really hard. Idk about 2nd since I can't move the bike enough to pop into 2nd.
So...help?
