2024.05.22 00:21 No_Row3404 Today I walked out

For some background I work in a non union state, I have my degree in 8-12 English, I currently work as a suspension teacher, and I've been working in different school settings/ages for almost 10 years.
Today was the first time I've ever had to leave work early for a reason related to my job. I have spent nearly this entire year trying to to keep my colleagues from falling apart due to severe behavior from students in the classroom. I have tried to keep as positive of an attitude as I can while also venting frustrations. Today I became the one that fell apart.
What makes it worse is that this wasn't even the worst behavior I've dealt with this year. I have had furniture thrown, students physically push me, and been called every name in the book. Today I was disrespected for two hours and had a student leave the room without permission. It doesn't sound that bad on paper, but it broke something inside of me to be completely disrespected and disregarded by a 13 year old whom I had done nothing but try and help for two days.
I work really hard to form relationships with the kids that come into my room because they are typically the trouble makers. It makes my life easier when they know what to expect from me and I also like trying to help them and be a safe person they can come to. I have multiple students who come by just to check in or talk throughout the day because I've worked so much at setting expectations for them.
But today when I was crying in the staff lounge, trying to get it together, I was told that student that had disrespected me would not be sent home because they have a difficult parent. What are we doing?? Why is this happening?
When are these parents going to wake up and realize they are ruining their children's prospects for any kind of a future? We can't send certain kids home on OSS because they want to be there so they can run wild or be attached to a screen all day. We've had kids repeatedly bring drugs into school, deface school property, threaten teachers, and constantly get into physical altercations. I live in a smaller district and know these issues aren't new, but for us they are. Our community prides itself on being supportive and close knit, but then threaten to sue the school and anyone that dares to reprimand their children.
Is this just the collapse of public education and potentially the education system in general? I'm sorry but these kids are going to end up being homeless, jobless, and imprisoned. They can't write, read, perform basic math skills, have a normal conversation with an adult, and they are always the victim.
I'm not quitting my job because surprisingly I love it most days. But I am so tired of no one taking us seriously and being the punching bags for our of control parents and their offspring.

2024.05.22 00:19 nobodxbodon Any simulator or game to experience real jobs?

I'm taking an Interest Profiler, and it occurs to me that it'll be great if I can experience a job position without actually getting one, to be more sure about whether it'll be a fit.
I have impression of some game that simulate a software developer's position to solve all kinds of bugs and programming tasks, but forgot the name.
Are there other similar apps? I know games like Sims 4 or flight simulator, but I'm looking for projects that simulates as much real chores in a position as possible, and in order to achieve that, allow content creation like adding all kinds of real-life events. Text-based is even better.
For example, say there's an app simulating a small business owner, one can add an event that computer breaks down and all the customer contacts got lost.
Or an app simulating a plumber, and one can add an event that after replacing the joint the faucet stops working, and the player can either choose to continue investigating or give up and resulted in a bad review.

2024.05.22 00:19 supernintendo128 Recently laid off, have an interview with a toxic company tomorrow. Should I take the job if I get it?

I was laid off this month but I've been getting a lot of interviews and interest from recruiters. A temp agency has been helping me get an interview for this one company which is tomorrow. I looked them up on Glassdoor and they have a 1.9 star rating, and the reviews talk about how the CEO is a psychopath who publicly belittles his employees and is a possible white supremacist. I really don't want to deal with that if I can help it, and now I don't want the job but knowing my luck I'll probably go in and get an offer anyway. I really don't want to end up in another toxic work environment. If I get an offer, should I take it and keep looking?

2024.05.22 00:18 Jamesbrownshair Rekordbox 7 hardware unlock

So I currently use rekordbox 5 because I sometimes have to use a sx2 in performance mode for my job. Rb5 has a serial number unlock for performance mode. I read that 7 lets you unlock performance by registering your hardware even if it's not plugged in. Would I be able to use rb 7 with a sx2 if I register my ddj 1000?

FUNNY, CONCISE, RELATABLE, and ENLIGHTENING; that's the kind of scripts I craft for YouTube videos! The human mind is easily prone to distractions, and this explains why most of us can’t watch a boring YouTube video till the end. However, with the right words, your channel can get the views it deserves!
I have created scripts for YouTubers on countless subjects ranging from sports (Football-MMA-Boxing-NBA-NHL) — documentary, mysteries, space, economy, history, police body cam scripts, short scripts for brands(UGC and YouTube shorts), even technology! I have carefully studied YouTube algorithm, and tips, all of which has helped me write in a way that gets viewers hooked on the first word. Of course, a good script will perform even better with an efficient voice-over and great video editing.

2024.05.22 00:13 SeriousSpecialist355 Who else is milking their employer?

Full cream or skim milk? Jokes. I do good work. Never had a bad performance review. Was told there will be a promotion into more of a senior role (not management, senior technical). I realise now that I've been stringed along. I've been given a false sense of hope and empty promises. I thought to retaliate by getting a promotion elsewhere, and I believe I could. However I have figured out how to get all my work done in 10 hours of the week. I work from home majority of the time so essentially I have heaps of free time to work on personal things. My employer is paying me a full time salary but I am only acting as part time employee. Im not a lazy worker, iI expressed I want more responsibility and projects. I have demonstrated I can run the ship when no one else was there. I'm capable. So whatever, I'm milking them for everything I can. Its a way of leveling the playing field i guess. The ability to spend 30 hours I normally would working, is worth the promotion in itself.

2024.05.22 00:11 MamanBonne Am I foolish not to tell job I’m pregnant?

I just started an 8-week internship that I’m hoping will result in a permanent job offer by the end. I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant and not bumping too hard; I think I’m able to reasonably conceal the minimal bump I do have with the right clothing.
In any case, I haven’t told anyone that I’m expecting for fear of being treated or looked at differently at a time when I really need to perform and be viewed at my best. I’m already significantly older than most of the interns in our group and don’t want to stand out even further. There will be lots of networking parties/happy hours this summer, but I plan to blend in with a club soda and lime and hopefully no one will notice I’m not drinking.
My husband thinks I’m crazy for not being open about my pregnancy and doubts it will change how the bosses perceive me. Curious what you all think and how others have navigated a competitive job-search / new job situation while pregnant.

2024.05.22 00:11 GlassHalfFull808 Spoke w/ VMR Institute about FOV

I had a very informative phone call with the Vitreous Macula Retina (VMR) Institute in Huntington Beach, CA. As many of you are aware, VMR Institute and Dr. Sebag have been at the forefront of floater treatments for over a decade. I reached out to them because I'm trying to decide if pursuing a vitrectomy is right for me. I wanted to share the points from my conversation in case it helps anyone else who is also considering a vitrectomy for their floaters.
I'll admit that I'm disappointed to hear Sebag is no longer operating, but it's reassuring to hear that VMR is still dedicated to helping patients who suffer from floaters. I'm not 100% set on vitrectomy yet, but I feel that speaking with surgeons (rather than merely reading anecdotes online) helps me feel less anxious about making a decision. Knowledge is power!

[5 YoE] Mid Career seeking a Water Resources Engineering job Resume Feedback
I'm applying for a water engineeproject manager position and want to see if my resume would be picked out of the hundreds of applications they'll receive.
About me: I'm studying for the Environmental EIT and I'm not sure if I should add that on my resume
Should my paragraphs be shorter? Should I use stronger verbs? I added a long list of skills to tailor what the job posting requires but I feel like it's too long and maybe I should address some of those skills on a cover letter.
The skills required by the job are: strong project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and construction processes effectively. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with stakeholders and preparing presentations for public meetings. Technical proficiency in engineering software like AutoCAD and GIS, along with analytical abilities for engineering assessments and compliance reviews, are also critical for success in these roles.
Any other feedback is greatly appreciated!!

2024.05.22 00:07 jackprotbringo Need help weighing options

I currently have a Steam Deck and love it. While the SD is excellent for playing on the couch, it really doesn't feel portable while having to bring the case around everywhere.
I saw the rg35xxsp release and got really excited about the form factor, but it'll be about $110 with taxes and shipping which feels hard to justify.
After finding the v90 I thought it could be a good middle ground being rugged and about $45 with free shipping, but I've seen so many mixed reviews on whether or not it is worth it.
The r36s is about $55 but I really don't like the joysticks and I think I would stress about breaking them in transit. The rg35xx is $60 with free shipping, but again feels like I would be worried about damaging it and need to lug around a case and everything.
Is the blurriness and performance bad enough on the v90 that I should just save up for a few months and get a rg35xxsp?
I mostly plan on playing GB/GBC and a handful of GBA games like Fire Red, Ruby, Wario Ware, and Apotris. NES is nice to have but I don't care for most games on there. SNES I would maybe play Super Mario World which I've seen some people say runs at 60 fps and some say it runs at 20.

2024.05.22 00:06 Fair_Guesstimate Typical Number of Estimates? (Div. 33 Supplier)

I am an estimator for a division 33 supplier and I was curious how many estimates those in a similar role turn out each month? I was around 55 up until March and now I’m at around 70 each month.
This is starting to feel like it’s affecting the quality of my work, meaning there’s not enough time to review the documents for each job.

2024.05.22 00:03 APEX_FD Is the market really that bad, or do we just have too many people calling themselves developers?

Every other post here mentions how the job market is trash right now and that unemployment is currently at x% or y%. My question is, is there a way to quantify how many of those professionals are actually decent coders? Or, a more straightforward question would be how many don't really know how to code?
I worked as a tutor for 3 years in college and as a "professor" for 2 years in a bootcamp, and I can safely say that a good chunk of my students and classmates oversell themselves on LinkedIn and Resume by a huge margin.
They go from running a ML model from a repo to adding "Successfully designed and implemented a Visual transformer model for semantic segmentation, obtaining 98% IoU score while training on a dataset with underrepresented classes" on their resume. Like bro I know you don't know what those words mean, I was literally trying to teach them to you yesterday.
I don't doubt that the market is bad compared to previous years, but I do wonder how much of that comes from people who just started trying to get jobs that demand more knowledge. That has to skew the unemployed rates in tech somehow.
This is a legit question and I'd love to hear different or similar perspectives.

2024.05.22 00:00 Dr-ThrowawayAccount Options for addressing billing issues when terrified of bosses?

TL;DR: What are my options to finding claim details not in my EHR without having to involve my boss when I don't have clearinghouse access?
This is gonna be long because I don't really have another outlet to vent about this OR ask my practical question. Buckle up and thanks for reading!
Context:
I am working in a group practice. Despite being in the field for over a decade, this is my first time providing services for a fee and dealing with anything billing or insurance related. The practice is run by two owners, let's call them "Sarah" and "Jack." The owners are pleasant enough to deal with 98% of the time, however, they are known for being hot-headed and possibly even verbally abusive. This has been cited by several employees who have left and I have experienced degrees of it myself. To make matters worse, they are VERY private and protective over anything related to the behind the scenes of running their business, which is somewhat understandable. I've been told this started when past former employees took information/resources/clients provided by the company and started their own competing company (though this is hearsay since I didn't work for them at the time). But because this is all very new for me, sometimes I have had questions or made well-intentioned efforts to advocate for my clients that unfortunately have been met with defensiveness, suspiciousness, and variations of "stay in your lane" (a phrasing my boss knows for a fact is particularly triggering for me). So I now find myself having palpable anxiety reactions at the thought of angering them with during conversations.**
It will also be helpful to know that the bulk of the employee turnover has been in the administrative/billing department. In fact, in the 18 months I have worked for the company we have had 3 separate billers, with Sarah & Jack filling in during interims.
Current Situation:
There have been some issues with employees having discrepancies with paychecks/taxes. We are paid our (fair and reasonable percentage) of session fees biweekly "in arrears" (aka once insurance pays). I have been lax in tracking all this and decided to sit down and go through my records as I prepare my taxes (I filed an extension lol). This personal accounting tracking has essentially involved me looking in our EHR (Simple Practice) at key pieces of information: 1) Session dates for the past year for each client, 2) Whether those claims were submitted to insurance vs Self Pay, 3) When the session was paid by insurance (and associated claim #s), 4) The amount paid, and 5) whether that correct amount showed up in the right biweekly paycheck.
In working through this process I have come across several client charts where I cannot go through this tracking for one of several reasons. For most of these the issue is that sessions are marked as "paid" and an amount is listed and there are associated claim #s & clearinghouse references; however, the claim details unable to be viewed. This means for these claims/charts I cannot see the date they were paid in order to figure out which paycheck they belong on to verify I am not missing any fees I was expected to be paid. I have also identified a few sessions that were billed incorrectly (either sent to insurance when shouldn't be or charged full fee to client when they shouldn't be). There are also a few where the amount I was listed as having been paid doesn't match the contract rate but I cannot verify why without any claim details.
I want to be clear that my first thought is that these are honest errors and the issue has a lot to do with too many different billers with different way of processing things AND my limited access as a non biller or administrator in the EHR system.
Dilemma and Complications:
I have tried looking in Simple Practice at everything I can see and there is just missing info no matter how I slice it. Months ago I tried requesting access to Availity but the biller at the time denied that, so I do no have clearinghouse access and don't anticipate Sarah & Jack would be open to giving me any. As much as I can't afford the time to do so, I figured maybe I have to call the insurance companies about each of the claims... But my first attempt at reaching out to BCBS was a bust since I couldn't reach a provider services agent and the member services agent couldn't give me much info, just could "verify" what I asked her (i.e. was claim from 5/1 paid out for $100?). So that doesn't help because the main info I need is the payment date and they couldn't give it to me.
So I tried reaching out to the company's current biller (who overall I like) to see if we could have a phone meeting to review these charts. My thought process was that she would have access to the needed info OR insight as to why it might not be available. But she forwarded the message to Sarah & Jack who asked I deal with them directly about it. The exact response was "Please tell me who you need clarity on so I can look at the charts and we can meet after I have had a chance to review." I know this seems innocuous...but...I am TERRIFIED to do this! For one thing, any prior discussions about possible billing issues have been poorly received. Furthermore, I have already sent emails to Sarah & Jack about some of these billing errors closer to the dates of service, so I fully anticipate they will be defensive if I point out they were not addressed/corrected. I know it is irrational but a part of me feels betrayed by the biller and as if I was "fed to the wolves."
Maybe I am wrong, but I feel like the information I am asking for should be accessible to me as the provider of the service and whose NPI number was used for billing. I am fully aware that some of why I can't see the needed info on my own may be due simply to technology or innocent past mistakes...but I worry Sarah & Jack will not see it this way or understand I am not intentionally searching for errors for malicious or litigious reasons. Honestly, I don't even care about the timing of the payments...I am just trying to do personal finance accounting to make sure I am "whole" for the past year.
So allllll that is to say.....is there any option for info access I haven't considered? Is avoiding Sarah and Jack worth the time to try and keep contacting the insurance companies? If I do have to go through Sarah and Jack, any advice on how to present this info to reduce blow back/anger?
** P.S. I know I can/should quit and that this is not an appropriate way to run a business or treat employees. But I am not in a position to leave at this time. So I am trying to find the best way to navigate the current circumstances until I am able to leave.
***P.S.S. Please be kind. I already feel weak, stupid and shameful for being in this situation. I know I should have dealt with it sooner and that I am a grown ass competent professional who shouldn't be feeling this fearful in a professional situation like this. But here we are.

2024.05.22 00:00 firezodyssey Soft tissue imaging - can't see damage

Has anyone had the issue that subluxations and injuries that aren't as severe as an actual tear or dislocation not showing up on imaging like ultra sounds and X-rays? Links to peer reviewed medical journal articles on imaging and EDS/HSD or other connective tissue disorders are welcome!
I'm thinking that baring an actual tear, our soft tissue is thin to begin with so it won't show damage unless there's an actual tear or the joint is still dislocated (not after a dislocation or sublux is put back in joint). I'm basing this on the story below and I'm open to comments about my current issue.
For the story context my mom and I have thin eye tissue. We're both finally diagnosed with hEDS
Current issue:
Most of my injuries and chronic issues are lower body and/or to my right side. Left side upper body is only recent. My left shoulder blade has subluxed twice from my spine in the past year.
I'm thinking that baring an actual tear, our soft tissue is thin to begin with so it won't show damage - just like my corneas don't, because that damage is everywhere. (Like a website with white text on an almost white background.)
I'm getting my first custom titanium wheelchair soon (the application is in the works). I know that to get any additions or changes in the future, including a SmartDrive power assist there must be a clinical justification. It's helpful to be either able to document injuries that can be seen on imaging or have a justification why those injuries can't be seen on imaging.
Any medical journal articles are welcome! I have a science degree with human anatomy and physiology with cadaver lab, plus work/life experience so I can read them.

DIVINATION AND FORTUNE TELLING #astrology #tarot #tarotreading #tarotcards
Divination is the practice or the process of inquiring knowledge of the unknown or the future by using supernatural methods as well as other items like Dice and tarot. Dice have a pretty long history as oracles. They were famous in ancient Rome and Greece. Again, they are prominent in medieval Europe. As you try to use dice for the first time, you will realize that there is a big distinction from other types of divination (like tarot). Further, it is normally an excellent idea to try different divination systems always to find out which parts of them we need to bring into our individual practice. Quite frequently, this is simply the latest deck in a way that we readily understand; however, it is still significant to look at completely various physical tools. One of the very interesting for contemporary readers is dice.
The basics of Dice.
Typically, dice oracles fall into two major styles; the “book” and the “hand”. First, the “Book” method includes generating a number and then picking up the analogous passage on a page. The subsequent could be anything from poetic verse to precise instructions and often would not relate right to the numbers that were initially rolled. The listing for the subsequent passage, 327, would have a completely unique meaning (and not related to 3, 2 or 7 at all). Therefore, you would have to carry both your dice and the whole book of answers with you to perform the divination. Surprisingly, this is a compelling tradition with many years of history behind it. Furthermore, there is another method- that opens up additional possibilities.
There are sound differences with using dice rather than cards that are fun as well. Cards come with fixed art that can be deciphered or reveal concealed symbolism, guided by the artist. They just have those particular structures and images (like a decision on number order, trump names and art style). The dots or marks on dice are very simple, by contrast, that they get out of the reader’s way and give room for wider accounts to be brought to the reading- particularly on something as rich as the components, which have a lot of aspects to them. The components exist as absolute magical ideals but as the solid reality we find around as too. In fact, they are even in us, as the power of our bones, the heat in our blood.
Physical dice fast become magical tools that have all of these opportunities, alive with potential. With only one six-sided die inside your pocket, you have a straight line to a big part of Western magic. Rather than turning a card to be given with a response, this sounds more as if you generate each component separately yourself using an action from your hand.
On the other hand, dice and cards are of course so comparable. (As a matter of fact, in case each of the aggregate in this oracle was painted onto a card, then the outcome deck of 72 cards would produce precisely the same possibility of each answer as it does at the moment with dice). Certainly, this is a concern we need to always be conscious of when designing a system of divination: you can just have the outcomes that put in. In this regard, none of the outcomes should have less of the possibility than others except that is something for which you have intentionally thought of and planned for. Complex systems can be enjoyable, and you can make use of charts, cards, and lengths of string, colored beads, or a combination of these! As an initial step, the very fulfilling and elegant can be done with only a one die in your pocket without the possibility of losing any of the beauty or depth.
📷Other things that make dice preferable.
Using cards is convenient as well. They are quite smaller compared to a full deck of cards. For this, from a public point of view, they do not resemble the occult object. Furthermore, there are various beautiful alternatives for you. These include metals and colors of your preference, wooden dice in a small box, various sizes, in a pocket or simply in bags. Definitely, the dice you use for divination is your magical devices and needs to be kept and utilized only for magical reasons in the same manners that many individuals do with tarot cards.
From their first form as small animal bones, the dice have been an important component of the whole history of divination. We usually find runes, cards and even sticks available to purchase as oracles. Nevertheless, dice appear to be so ordinary. We notice their sis sides and imagine that they can just give six answers. Rather, they open up such a big area of possible images and information: loving relationships, high-energy battles, landscapes of guaranteed success or warnings of questionable foundations. This just comes from a single die. Readers looking for a unique encounter or change of directions need to consider adding the humble dice in their search.
Divination by scrying.
Scrying, otherwise known as “crystal gazing” is a method by which an individual “gazes” onto a reflective thing. Still, quite a number of people use a scrying mirror or crystal ball. Scrying mirrors are basically concave opaque parts of glass. They are pretty appealing. Nevertheless, you can scry on simply about any reflective exterior, a piece of metal, a bowl of water or a mirror. In some cases, some people can even scry in flames or smoke.
The aim of scrying is to get information. Some people think that this information is presented psychically or clairvoyantly. Others believe the scrying procedure just clears the mind for information from the source or the Universe to flow more smoothly. The information obtained can be used to satisfy an entire host of concerns and questions. Sometimes, the information given is so accurate that the scryer will see visions of actual places, people and events. In some instances, the information given is symbolic just like a dream and has to be interpreted.
From another point of view, open eye scrying requires regular exercise and concentration. Actually, some people find it hard to focus their attention with their eyes open. Luckily, other people are natural scryers. Due to this, they have the ability to focus and images start to appear almost instantaneously. You may never get the hang of it. However, at some point, you may be able to gain images in a carefree state, on your eyelids, with your eyes shut. If you do some research and inquire from others, you may find that they also apply the same method suggesting that that could be another form of scrying. Assuredly, many people will not regard that as a way of scrying because it does not include a “tool” like a mirror outside the person. Besides, you may realize that that is a very effective technique to practice scrying with your eyes closed. In fact, it could be one way that will help you relax and receive essential images. While that may work for some people, others may find it quite irrelevant too. Seemingly, everyone has their best ways of scrying in the bid to get the ultimate goal.
📷Rune reading.
Runes (Witch’s Runes) are simplistic pictograms that pair concepts with symbols that are very acceptable in this contemporary world. In my late teen years, I came across the Witch’s Runes and they really made an impact on me. First, they were few in numbers, easy for me to differentiate from one another and clear to learn. In some ways, these were a groundbreaking entry to the concept of complex symbolism in my case. Because the witch’s Runes are not an old script, they have no particular sound or pronunciation; the headings of the runes are in normal English.
There is a lot less to get here, yet they more often than not be applied conversely with the Elder Futhark in this process of divination. In case you feel content with the Elder Futhark, start learning the Witch’s Runes besides them and realize how the two compare and contrast in your personal practice. If you are still working with the Elder Futhark, you can continue, or you can go back and master the Witch’s Runes first in case both time and memorization are obstacles for you.

  • Rune number– the Witch’s Rune is manifested in particular order, just like other rune rows, although they are not a script.
  • Rune name– the Witch’s Rune name is given in English and is directly mirrored by the image.
  • Think– Pictograms are not definite representations of their concepts, remarkably since there are elusive nuances for each rune. There is some imagery correlated to each rune that may assist you to link them with their meanings. You may be having other imagery that best for you and you can go with it as you wish.
There are only some of the obvious meanings for the runes that work for most people. For your own good, you may add them with time or alter those that do not seem suitable.
Most people prefer touse Tarot Reading as a method of fortune telling:
Quickly learn how to use tarot for daily benefits. Ordinarily, people know tarot as a tool for telling the future or answering questions. Nevertheless, tarot can also be employed in other things other than asking questions. It is always recommendable to take short time while pulling cards. 2024.05.21 23:59 throwawayayxoxo [CA] HR Accommodation Request marked as unreasonable. Any advice?

I have a medical condition that is well documented and has been getting worse due to working in the office. The HR team at my job reviewed the functional limitations and recommendations for remote work that my doctor wrote and stated that working remotely for these limitations were not reasonable. They also stated that my doctor's letter did not state it is required to be remote. I'm so confused about what they need.
I know HR is doing their job. They offered for me to submit more medical documentation and said they are not outright denying my request for remote work. The problem is they can't tell me what is needed, and my doctor also doesn't know what else more to provide. I'm struggling to go into the office due to my medical condition and cannot take advantage of any job-protected leave. I just want to do my job and be healthy. Any advice or feedback on this?

Are You Ready to Pass? Understanding Driving Test Marking, Faults, and Results

Passing the driving test is a pivotal moment for any aspiring driver. It marks the transition from learning to becoming a licensed driver. At Get Drivers Ed, we understand that preparing for this test involves more than just knowing how to operate a vehicle; it's about understanding the intricacies of the test itself—how it's marked, the common faults that lead to failure, and what results mean for you. This blog post will delve into these aspects to ensure you are fully prepared to pass your driving test.

The Structure of the Driving Test

Before we explore the marking criteria, it’s important to understand the structure of the driving test. Typically, it consists of two parts:
Theory Test: This includes a set of multiple-choice questions and a hazard perception test. The theory test assesses your understanding of road signs, traffic laws, and safe driving practices. It ensures that you have the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions while driving.
Practical Driving Test: This is an on-road test where you will be tested on your ability to handle the car safely and correctly in various road and traffic conditions. The practical test evaluates your real-world driving skills, including vehicle control, observation, and decision-making.
At Get Drivers Ed, our comprehensive courses cover both these aspects thoroughly to ensure you’re well-prepared. We provide extensive resources and practice materials to help you succeed in the theory test, and our practical training sessions are designed to build your confidence and competence on the road.

How Driving Tests Are Marked

The practical driving test is marked based on your ability to drive safely and independently while adhering to the rules of the road. Examiners look for a wide range of skills:
Control and Vehicle Handling: Your ability to control the vehicle smoothly, including steering, braking, and accelerating. Proper vehicle handling is crucial for safe driving, and examiners will be looking for precise control in various situations.

Observation and Awareness: Your ability to observe the road, recognize potential hazards, and respond appropriately. Good observation skills involve constant scanning of the road and surroundings, checking mirrors, and being aware of other road users.

Following Directions: Your ability to follow the directions given by the examiner accurately. This includes understanding and responding to verbal instructions, road signs, and signals.
https://preview.redd.it/147o4d28qu1d1.jpg?width=550&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=055ba54b288f3effd3125838ff3c7b6ed852e420
Independent Driving: Your ability to drive without guidance, following road signs or a set route. This part of the test assesses your capability to make decisions and navigate independently.

Each of these categories has specific criteria that must be met to pass the test. At Get Drivers Ed, our instructors emphasize these skills in our training sessions, ensuring that you know exactly what examiners are looking for.
Understanding Faults
During the driving test, faults are categorized into three types:
Minor Faults: These do not directly impact safety but could lead to a more serious fault if repeated. You are allowed a certain number of minor faults; however, accumulating too many will result in failing the test. Examples include slight hesitation or minor errors in judgment.
Major Faults: These are serious faults that have potential safety implications or break traffic laws. A single major fault is enough to fail a driving test. Examples include failing to give way or making an incorrect lane change.
Dangerous Faults: These involve actual danger to you, the examiner, the public, or property. Like major faults, one dangerous fault will result in failure. Examples include running a red light or causing a near-miss accident.
In our comprehensive course at Get Drivers Ed, we use simulated test scenarios to teach students how to avoid these faults, focusing on precise and mindful driving. Our instructors provide detailed feedback on your performance, helping you to identify and correct any weaknesses.
Tips to Avoid Common Faults
To give you an edge, here are some tips to avoid common faults:
Stay Calm and Focused: Nerves can affect your driving. Practice relaxation techniques and stay focused on the task at hand. Breathing exercises, visualization, and positive thinking can help you remain calm during the test.
Regular Checks: Constantly check your mirrors and blind spots for any hazards. Good observation habits are essential for safe driving and can prevent many common faults.
Follow Instructions: Pay close attention to the test examiner’s directions and follow them carefully. Ensure you understand each instruction before proceeding and ask for clarification if needed.
Practice, Practice, Practice: Regular practice in various driving conditions is crucial. The more experience you gain, the more comfortable and confident you will become.

Are You Ready to Pass?

Being ready for the driving test means being prepared to demonstrate competent and safe driving practices consistently. At Get Drivers Ed, we ensure you are test-ready by providing detailed feedback and personalized coaching throughout your training. Our instructors work with you to address any areas of concern and build your confidence on the road.
