2024.05.21 13:30 Ishika2337 The 10 Best Movies Coming to Apple TV+ in May 2024

Apple TV+ is one of the strangest streamers out there, with almost no licensed TV or film content and a small number of originals. That makes the best movies on Apple TV+ easy to find. There simply aren’t that many! Apple is clearly taking a “quality over quantity” approach, with its money spread across genres and targeted at making its subscribers (many roped in with a deal that came with one of the company’s tech products) treat it like a real contender. It also helps that it’s only $4.99 a month, or free for a year if you’ve just purchased a new (and eligible) device.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs, one of the best animated movies of the 2020s and Martin Scorsese’s latest, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like Killers of the Flower Moon and Wolfwalkers.

10. The Pigeon Tunnel

For a documentary about one of the most celebrated writers of spy fiction, The Pigeon Tunnel can seem—at first glance—deceptively placid. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, the film features an extended conversation between David Cornwell, AKA John le Carre, and Oscar-winning docmaker Errol Morris. It’s just that. Two people talking, with Morris off-screen, their parrying question-and-answers broken up with archival images and re-enactments of Cornwell’s past, as well as snippets from the classic movies or TV adaptations based on his spy universe: The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and A Perfect Spy.

9. Hala

Writedirector Minhal Baig’s Hala is an intimate coming-of-age drama held up by its personal writerly touches and a star-making turn from Geraldine Viswanathan as the title character. Hala’s struggling with the same kinds of things we normally see high school characters struggle with: What to do after graduation, how to manage a relationship with her parents that’s not quite adult and not quite childish, and (of course) boys. Viswanathan’s understated quiet and the warmth in which the situations are shot (almost always centered on her face)—be they at a family dinner or a walk in a Chicago park or a reading of a high school English assignment—make the dramatic ricochet of Hala’s minor rebellion rattle us all the harder.

8. Boys State

The tendency to read too much into Boys State as a representative of American politics—contemporary, functional, broken and otherwise—doesn’t quite line up with the event itself, in which every year the American Legion sponsors a sort of mock government sleepaway camp in Texas for high school boys (girls get a similar program of their own), where attendees join parties, run for office, craft platforms, run campaigns, hold debates, then ultimately exercise their right to vote.

7. On the Rocks

Sofia Coppola’s new movie On the Rocks starts out as a story of possessive fatherhood, with Felix (Bill Murray) narrating to his teenage daughter, Laura: “And remember, don’t give your heart to any boys. You are mine until you get married. Then you’re still mine.” The girl laughs off the declaration as a jape, which turns out to be a catastrophic tactical mistake. In her womanhood, Laura (Rashida Jones), does indeed get married to a man, Dean (Marlon Wayans), and they have two beautiful daughters of their own, eldest Maya (Liyanna Muscat) and youngest Theo (Alexandra Mary Reimer).

6. Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You

The black-and-white behind-the-scenes documentary accompaniment to Bruce Springsteen’s album of the same name, Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You is a beautiful and companionable tour through the music and its making from an American master. Director Thom Zimny buys into the album’s concept, which focuses on just how long Springsteen’s been at this thing. Poignant juxtaposition with archival footage and pictures emphasizes just how long the E Streeters have been at this—and reminds us of who and what was lost along the way.

5. Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds

Werner Herzog will show you multiple clips from Mimi Leader’s Deep Impact for no other reason than because he likes them, he finds them well-done and evocative—he says as much in that even-keeled, oddly accented voice over—then soon after chastise “film school doctrine” when complimenting a field video shot by a South Korean meteor specialist in Antarctica. Like Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, his documentary from earlier in the year, Fireball (co-directed with Clive Oppenheimer, with whom he made 2016’s Into the Inferno) is less about what it’s about (meteorites, shooting stars, cosmic debris—and the people who love them) than it is about Werner Herzog’s life, which is his filmography, which is a heavily manipulated search for ultimate truth.

4. CODA

Sometimes a movie so successfully plunges you into its world that it completely engulfs you in a lived-in experience. From the gorgeous, scenic opening moments of CODA, you can almost smell the Atlantic salt air and pungent scent of the daily catch. The movie transports you to Gloucester, Massachusetts and lovingly drops you into the life of one family. Seventeen-year-old Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones) is what the title of the movie refers to—a child of deaf adults.

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas

We could get into plenty of arguments over which Charlie Brown animated special is best, but A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite pull of the bunch. Charlie Brown’s confrontation with the Christmas season’s commercialism (back in 1965 no less) and a sad little fir tree make this a cartoon classic, as the ultimate funny-pages shlimazel suffers endless social indignities (no Christmas cards) and the holiday blues.

2. Wolfwalkers

Wolfwalkers is filmmaker and animator Tomm Moore’s latest project out of Cartoon Saloon, the animation studio he co-founded in 1999 with Paul Young, and the capper to his loosely bound Irish folklore trilogy (begun with 2009’s The Secret of Kells and continued with 2014’s Song of the Sea). At first blush, the film appears burdened with too much in mind—chiefly thoughts on everything from English colonialism to earnest portraiture of Irish myths, the keystones of Moore’s storytelling for the last decade.

1. Killers of the Flower Moon

Martin Scorsese has made a career telling stories that tackle issues of justice, retribution and betrayal. From his overt and poetic crime films, through to his dark comedies, religious parables and character pieces, he has long been drawn to stories where the ambiguities of life collide with the complexities of survival, and where day-to-day choices result in consequences sometimes obvious, and sometimes far more subtle and insidious.

2024.05.21 12:35 ManonFire63 Identity Politics and the Soul Part I

Christians are to love The Lord their God with all their Heart and Soul and Strength and Mind. This is the basis of Christianity. What does it mean to love God with your soul? What is the soul? Soul has a lot to do with identity. I would like to talk about identity politics; however, there is a learning curve. Someone may need to understand The Soul.
Discovering The Soul
When someone is talking about The Soul, which Soul are they referencing? Plato and The Soul? Abstract Philosophy God and the Soul? The Bible, and how The Bible references The Soul? Working to explain The Soul and The Bible, I have worked to do so in a way that your average person may be able to understand, and find or feel their soul. He are starting with a perception, we postulate that the Soul is a person, and has to do with decision making and identity, and given scripture, and various media or cultural references of The Soul, we may be able to see if we are right, and a bigger picture.
Given you understand what The Soul is in the Bible, someone may begin to understand exorcism. They may understand Identity Politics, and what it actually is in spiritual warfare. They may come out with greater understanding of creation and God.
The Basis of Christianity
Song to Preface this: Heuy Lewis "Heart and Soul."
What is a Soul? A soul is a person. Given a The King of Salem had 50 Souls, he had fifty persons or servants. How did they identify themselves? Possibly as a servant of The King of Salem in some way. Loving The Lord with all your SOUL, may have to do with identity. Who was someone serving? Was someone a Servant of "Something Else" or a Servant of God? A child of God? A son of God? These may be good things to be as a Christian looking to love God with your Soul or identity.
A couple years ago I lived in walking distance from Duke University. Given someone was a Duke fan, or Duke Alumni, or had a lot of Duke Paraphernalia, they may have loved Duke University. How did they love Duke University? They loved Duke with their Soul or Identity. Someone with a Duke T-Shirt may be saying something about who he is, or was, or would like to be. When Duke wins or has done well in basketball, someone who loved Duke with their Soul or identity, they may have rejoiced? They felt good? In their soul, they rejoice, and feel a sense of happiness. That is where the soul is. Given anyone has been a sports fan at some point, and has identified as a fan of ___________ their soul rejoices when their team does well. Given I was to look up Soul in a Bible concordance, there are many of these feeling or sensing type verses where the soul is a place inside someone where there is passion. Someone loving God with Their Soul in a world of materialism and commercialism may have given up their Nike and Adidas, to be more as "Plain as John the Baptist?"
Given a musician signed a record contract, and said record contract was very strict, did said musician "Sell their Soul?" Given a musician has to sing all the songs said record company tells them to, and be at A or B place at a certain time, as said record company tells them to, and said musician has very little free will, would that be "Selling The Soul?" Given the record company was a servant of "The Purple Gang," or Kabbalists, or some other group not serving God, that may have been someone selling their soul to the devil? When we get the basics of what the Bible describes the Soul to be, there are a lot of interesting topics that come up. The Truth hurts. Knowledge brings sorrow. Ignorance is bliss? Their is freedom in The Lord.
The Soul and Identity.
True Statements:
Marriage has been an important part of The Bible and Faith and growing in understanding.
Woman is meek before her husband. Man is meek before God. A woman loving her husband with her heart and soul may have taken his name. She is forging a new identity as Mrs. _____________. A married woman with a hyphenated last name is one foot in, one foot out? Who or what does she love more? Her husband or Feminism? Maybe she didn't quite want to leave her family and her old identity behind as a single female or "Daughter of?" Feminists tend towards socialism. Is a woman really married to her husband or more married to The State? Woman is meek before her husband. A man is meek before God.
Looking at the Soul like this, someone may be able to see God. (And Satan.) The Truth hurts. Knowledge brings sorrow. Ignorance is bliss?
Spirits
Given we are coming into an understanding of The Soul, what are Spirits? Spirits effect motivations. Here is a short list of some spirits mentioned.
What are these Spirits doing? They are influencing. They are effecting motivations. Someone with a seducing spirit or spirit of prostitution may have been on tinder in the wrong way? Someone with a lying tongue may have been a habitual liar? Someone with one of these spirits, their character may have been molded a certain way. Their soul, who they are, may have been molded to something. Part of their identity, even if it was subconscious, may have been molded to something. Some Spirits are generational. They may have been passed down from Generation to Generation. There may have been generational curses on some families. (Deuteronomy 5:9) Some spirits someone may have picked up by being in sin, and being unrepentant. Someone's Soul or character may have been molded around something.
Given someone has God's Holy Spirit, they say "Jesus is Lord." They may tend to think about God, and talk about God a lot, and be prone to God-centric activities. Their Soul, and God's Holy Spirit, overtime, may have entwined. They are "One with God" leading towards an understanding of Theosis.

2024.05.21 11:16 kiwasabi The Metallica Conspiracy: The reason Metallica hasn't made a good album since The Black Album (1991) is because they were all replaced sometime in the early to mid 90's.

The Metallica Conspiracy: The reason Metallica hasn't made a good album since The Black Album (1991) is because they were all replaced sometime in the early to mid 90's.
INTRODUCTION:
While listening to the radio the other day, I had a thought. What if the reason Metallica has sucked since 1996 is because they aren't actually Metallica, but an entirely different band? To me this logically is the only explanation for how Metallica's music changed so drastically and permanently between the release of their self titled album "Metallica" (The Black Album) on August 12, 1991, and their next album "Load" which released June 4, 1996. All of a sudden they changed from being a thrash metal band at their peak to being a mediocre grunge rock Bush wannabe band who cut off their long hair and started wearing eye shadow and earrings.
THE BLACK ALBUM:
https://preview.redd.it/sjhfpgrnlq1d1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a11df9d81fab0b2c071112c843752d33e87206ee
The whole theme of Metallica's self titled album (generally referred to as "The Black Album") appears to be "Don't Tread On Me". This is confirmed by the cover image of the album itself. On the bottom right corner is the "Don't Tread On Me" snake from the Gadsden Flag which is a rebel flag first created in 1789. The history of the rattlesnake representing American rebelliousness goes back to 1751 when The Pennsylvania Gazette suggested that since the British kept using the United States as a prison colony by sending us their convicts, that we should pay them back by sending them a "cargo of rattlesnakes". (LINK) Three years later a political cartoon was created which depicted a snake cut into 8 segments with the caption "Join Or Die". Each section of the snake represented a colony and warned of the dangers of disunity. The rattlesnake symbol caught on and became a part of several other Revolutionary War flags. Before the departure of the United States Navy’s first mission in 1775, Continental Colonel Christopher Gadsden from South Carolina presented the newly appointed commander with a yellow rattlesnake flag to serve as a standard for his flagship.
According to this video titled "Don't Tread On Me" Gadsden Flag Symbolism & Meaning (LINK), since the flag was designed for the Navy, the meaning of a yellow Navy flag in 1789 meant "capital punishment on board". Thus the yellow color was meant to be a warning to any other ships who might impose on the independence of the United States colonies. Also mentioned in the video is the fact that the snake consists of 33 sections if you include the head and tail, which could be a reference to the 33 degrees of Freemasonry, or the 33 vertebrae of the Kundalini. Also, I noticed that the snake itself is basically a reversed 666. Finally, the shape of the snake symbol is triangular like an Illuminati All Seeing Eye Pyramid. So there's definitely a lot of hidden meaning behind the "Don't Tread On Me" flag it seems.
Anyway, the lyrical content of The Black Album is full of references to a slave who is oppressed by a cruel master such as "With this whipping boy done wrong" (The Unforgiven) and "Do my dirty work, scapegoat" (Sad But True). The overall theme is about rebelling against this cruel overlord, and there's literally a song called "Don't Tread On Me" with the lyrics repeatedly warning what will happen if the message is not properly heeded. "Enter Sandman" appears to be about Project Monarch Trauma Based Mind Control as well as Satanic Ritual Abuse. When it talks about, "Exit light, enter night. We're off to never never land", it's encouraging the traumatized victim to disassociate from reality by splitting off into a new personality and "going off to never never land" (referring to the fairy tale world of Peter Pan, which is a mind control theme). But the song that seems to put it all right out there what happened to Metallica is "The Unforgiven". The lyrics discuss being born into Project Monarch mind control and "learning their rules" and being "deprived of all his thoughts". Then it talks about how the child swears that they will never take away his (free) will. It then speaks about how he has turned into a bitter man who has tried to please them all. Then finally he decides it's a fight he cannot win and he no longer cares, and the old man prepares to die regretfully, "That old man here is me". This all seems to tell me exactly what happened to the original members of Metallica.
Metallica "The Unforgiven" lyrics (LINK)
New blood joins this earth,
And quickly he's subdued.
Through constant pained disgrace
The young boy learns their rules.
With time the child draws in.
This whipping boy done wrong.
Deprived of all his thoughts
The young man struggles on and on he's known
A vow unto his own,
That never from this day
His will they'll take away.
What I've felt,
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown.
Never be.
Never see.
Won't see what might have been.
What I've felt,
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown.
Never free.
Never me.
So I dub thee unforgiven.
They dedicate their lives
To running all of his.
He tries to please them all –
This bitter man he is.
Throughout his life the same –
He's battled constantly.
This fight he cannot win –
A tired man they see no longer cares.
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully –
That old man here is me.
JAMES HETFIELD BURNED BY PYROTECHNICS:
"On August 8, 1992, during the performance at Montreal's Olympic Stadium; several songs into Metallica's set, during the song Fade to Black, frontman and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield was accidentally burned by improper pyrotechnics forcing the band to cut their set short as Hetfield was rushed to the hospital." (VIDEO LINK)
I've long had a theory that Michael Jackson was replaced by a new body double in 1984 after his Pepsi commercial pyrotechnics disaster which badly burned him. So I made the connection that when James Hetfield was engulfed in flames in 1992 in Montreal by a pyrotechnics failure, it could have been a very good opportunity to switch him with a replacement. This is only a theory of course and I'm not sure if this was when James Hetfield was actually switched out, but as you'll see in the photo comparisons below, he clearly was replaced at some point (it seems likely it was in 1995 sometime before the recording of the album "Load" which took place May 1, 1995 – February 1, 1996). I also find it a little more than coincidental that Metallica was playing "Fade To Black" when this supposed accident took place.
Metallica "Fade to Black" lyrics (LINK)
Life it seems will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things aren't what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Can't stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me, can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems, as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye (goodbye)
"LOAD" RELEASED JUNE 1996:
Load was released June 4th 1996 and was a major departure from The Black Album. The first track on he album is "Ain't My Bitch" which could be about the new Metallica members disposing of the original lineup. Load in general is a very mediocre grunge rock album that sounds literally nothing like any previous Metallica album. My theory is now that the reason the band all cut their hair and changed their facial hair around this time in their careers was to disguise the fact that they were imposters. As the evidence will show, all 4 original members of Metallica were replaced sometime around 1995 which is why Metallica has never made another good album since 1991: it's because IT'S NOT ACTUALLY METALLICA. Honestly this album is so terrible that I can't listen to it enough to go in depth on my analysis. So I'm just going to say that I find it significant that the first song of the album with Metallica 2.0 is "Ain't My Bitch" which speaks about getting rid of someone who is dragging them down who is so useless, and now it's time to say goodbye. I also find the opening lines extremely significant, "Outta my way. Outta my day. Out of your mind and into mine". This seems to be talking about how a transfer of consciousness is taking place between the old band and into the new members. Of course what this is really referring to is demonic possession.
"Ain't My Bitch" Metallica lyrics (LINK)
Outta my way
Outta my day
Out of your mind and into mine
Into no one
Into not one
Into your step but out of time
Headstrong
What’s wrong?
I’ve already heard this song before
You arrived, but now it’s time to kiss your ass goodbye
Dragging me down
Why you around?
So useless
It ain’t my fall
It ain’t my call
It ain’t my bitch
It ain’t my bitch
Down on the sun
Down and no fun
Down and out, where the hell you been?
Damn it all down
Damn it unbound
Damn it all down to hell again
THE PHOTO EVIDENCE:
The following photo comparisons on the left have photographs from 1994 and earlier, whereas the photos on the right are from 1996 and later. As you can see, all four original members of Metallica were very clearly replaced sometime in the early to mid 90's. There are major changes in the shape of the jaw of all 4 members. The smoking gun evidence is the comparisons which show Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich smiling. There's no explanation for why their teeth would have changed completely with five or so years. These are very clearly completely different human beings.

CONCLUSION:
Ever wondered why Metallica seems like a mediocre cover band which is trying (and failing) desperately to sound like it used to? Ever wondered why all four members of Metallica suddenly decided to cut off their iconic heavy metal long hair and started wearing eye shade and earrings? It's because THIS IS NOT METALLICA. The last album that was recorded by the original members of Metallica was The Black Album in 1991. James Hetfield and the other members of Metallica were tired of being "Whipping boys done wrong" who were "deprived of all his thoughts". They decided to tell the Illuminati, "Don't Tread On Me" with their magnum opus "The Black Album", and they unfortunately paid the ultimate price. Notice this line which is a direct reference to The Illuminati and it's All Seeing Eye, "Shining with brightness, always on surveillance. The eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance". Metallica is literally telling The Illuminati, "Don't Tread On Me".
Don't tread on me
I said, don't tread on me
Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
Once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
Never begins it, never, but once engaged
Never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage
I said don't tread on me
So be it
Threaten no more
To secure peace is to prepare for war
So be it
Settle the score
Touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore
Hey
Don't tread on me
Love it or leave it, she with the deadly bite
Quick is the blue tongue, forked as lighting strike
Shining with brightness, always on surveillance
The eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance
Ooh no, no, no don't tread on me

2024.05.21 09:30 Usr7_0__- Song title from car commercial

Here's all I know:
It was from some car commercial, can't recall details. I believe the lyric was something like "Baby you're the one I'm thinking of...of...of." That last part is exactly what I think I remember...three "of" syllables in a row, building to a crescendo. Really sounded like a Linda Rondstandt sort-of song, but definitely not her (at least, I don't think so). Someone else singing a song of hers, or maybe just written in her style? If anyone knows, it would be appreciated.

2024.05.21 05:55 NecessaryMaybe938 i didn’t like it 😰 (please dont get mad at me)

I was mildly interested in marie during the height of her fame in covid. I knew a handful of her songs by heart but didn’t know much about her. Earlier this year though I watched some of her old music videos with the vhs filter and yellow letters and I was like omg this is so cool. Then I discovered her soundcloud and then I discovered her norwegian music (have studied norwegian on and off i liked using it to practice) and I was like omg this is what ive been missing my whole life. It just has this certain feel to it. It’s what made “we fell in love in october” an instant hit. And I still enjoyed her make it go quiet stuff that I had listened to in the past. I burned 2 cds and listened to them nonstop and was really excited about her new album.
When “too much” came out i tried to like it but it something about it was just immediately off. Right off the bat I was not a big fan of the name of the album, like couldn’t she have thought of something at least a little bit creative??? It doesnt even mean anything or make you appreciate it. The cover art is just like yeah whatever.
Once the whole thing came out I really became a Negative Nelly. I found the “guys im so happy and this is me talking about how happy i am” thing obnoxious. That is great for her and i’m sure if i was her friend I would be pretty excited about it but she is an internet stranger i’m not going to appreciate art because it was theraputic for the artist to make im going to appreciate it because it says something beautiful or interesting that i can enjoy and take away from it. You could be like “she doesnt have to be sad anymore she can grow and change as a person and her music is gonna reflect that!!” and yeah that’s true but she should grow into something better not worse. Theres more to life than just sad and happy and when you try to write music based off of a vague feeling of being ok that you’re trying to chase its not going to end well. When you reach a point in your life that you think you have it all figured out chances are you don’t. It kind of reminds me of what billie eilish said about her “Happier than ever” album. But back to marie. The album just felt forced, she should have waited until she had some better creative juices flowing.
The first song on the album is the worst its literally just sounds like a diary entry. It doesnt have any flow its just words. I’ve found that to be a reoccurring problem with girl in red, idk if its cuz english is her second language or what but so many of her songs dont sound like songs in certain places they just sound like words. If i were a musician and a lyricist or something I would probably be able to describe it better but i’m not so i hope ur able to pick up what i’m putting down from my vague attempt at explaining it. Anyway, it worked while she was a little guy indie soundcloud artist kid recording stuff in her bedroom but now that shes going for a more adult and professional and clean cut sort of image its not working. I just think polished is not a good look for her work, maybe her execution was just poor but my impression was that the original charm of her work was that it was messy and real and rough around the edges. Now it’s just safe and sterile. I think thats my main complaint.
The music videos were obviously nice and well done but it just lacked anything to keep me interested.
I dont know what more to say about the individual songs because they all sort of just sounded the same. When they werent boring they were just awkward. Like yeah it wasnt all bad I still listen to some but not as much as i thought i would be.
I think I blame the fact that she recently signed a record label. When I saw the obnoxious social media posts i knew it was the beginning of the end. I always enjoyed seeing her social medias in the past because they were so real, she didnt post much and when she did it was just silly and usually didnt even have a point. But posting so much about the album took so much away from its value. When you commercialize art it stops being so much art as it is a product. I dont know shit about how the music industry works, but i’m pretty sure it’s hard to make a career out of being an indie creator. I’m sure when she was in a place where she didnt know what to do with her career next and the old internet culture that boosted her to fame was dying out whatever deal she got offered seemed like a great idea. But i think that was her downfall. This is the end of Girl In Red: The Artist and the beginning of Girl In Red: The Celebrity Corporate Entity. I think she should have taken a few more years to find herself despite the pressure to release new music.
tl;dr: the new album just seemed like its purpose was to be something safe that would make the most money instead of something beautiful.

It’s so great to have CFL+ live and on demand this season. I was able to watch parts of the game live this afternoon but the on demand component makes it even better. Reminds me of the time when games were on ESPN+. Now just have to get the commercial break songs out of my head. 😂

I consider myself primarily to be in the film industry, but I also have experience in advertising (and would be very happy as an in-agency video producer).
I'm also from a small town where most of my work has been produced independently, and because of this sometimes I feel insecure about whether or not I'll be taken seriously in larger markets. I don't have any problem approaching people or learning new things quickly, and I want my resume to reflect this.
And finally for clarity, the black square on the right is covering up where a QR code normally is that links to a sample video of my work.

2024.05.20 22:37 EbilsBrother [TOMT][animation/animation channel][2016-24] animation channel my friend told me about

I was showing my friend a song called “Wonder Why?” By Rapider Than Horsepower, in which after a violin drone which lasts around 10 minutes there’s a hidden track in which it is the members of the band talking to each othethe audio recorder. Near the beginning of this one of the members puts a fire alarm up to the recorder and says it “fucking sucks”. My friend recognized this from an animation channel which used it for one of their animations. We couldn’t find it, but here are some things he remembered about the YouTube channel;
-the style had a lot of thick and angular line art
-used a lot of greens and blues, generally bright colors
-same animator made an animation set to “Frizzle Fry” by Primus
-an animation that used audio from a commercial for the game “Seaman”
Audio clips he said were in the animation:
“You know what it sounds like when there’s a fire? Check it- It fucking sucks, dude. It’s like I wake up and instead of being like, ‘shit, there’s a fire’ I’m like, ‘shut up, that sucks!’”
“Your girlfriend likes Ghostbusters and that’s hot to me. Really hot”.

2024.05.20 20:38 Tiny-Literature-8054 Azealia Amanda Banks literally has no life.

The irony of asking someone to make a song instead of chatter whilst she doesn't make any music or business, too bad she only answers to dumb gossip she can use on her IG stories instead of pending order inquiries.
Plus it's literally impossible to say "hello" to her without some kind of made up beef from her. Arca tried, Doechii tried and she found ways to ruin what could have been good collabs/friendships.

2024.05.20 18:13 deviques Need Female Vocals for Eurodance track.

I'm looking for a female singer for a Eurodance/Pop/EDM track in the style of late 90s/early 2000s music. Think Ace of Base, DJ Bobo, E-Type, or similar.
Key: G minor BPM: 140
I have created an AI vocal track for the song, but the AI is really lifeless. Have a listen here: https://soundcloud.com/andrewvn/eurodawn-i-will-be-there-with-ai-vocals/s-98OaBS2fGty
I need vocals for 2 verses and 2 choruses, with an alternate last line for the second chorus. Harmonies for the chorus would be a great addition if you're up for it.
I plan to release this track independently. While I don't expect to make any money from it, I'm willing to pay for the commercial use of your vocals.
If you're interested or have any questions, please get in touch!

2024.05.20 18:04 CornFedBread Future media consumption with AI

Lately I've been listening to an audiobook for The Mote in God's Eye. This is the 4th book I've listened to while working in the past couple of weeks.
This has gotten me thinking about our current method of media consumption.
I wonder if in the future AI companies will create royalty licenses for books, videos, and games to use their likeness for cross-media uses?
What I mean by this is creating series, movies, or games from books or turning movies into games or games into videos/stories.
I do my best to keep current with AI models and their multimodal capabilities. With a powerful and robust model isn't it feasible that this is an eventuality? (I'm speaking on the cross-media eventuality, not royalties. I picked that up from how the music industry licenses songs for use in commercials and movies.)
Thoughts on this? Is there a book you'd like to play or watch? A game you'd love to listen to a story of or a movie/series that would be an awesome game to play? Maybe even VR worlds you'd like to be in?

2024.05.20 17:53 kaycyy-superfan Graduation is extremely average & in Ye's solo discography it is his worst

First of all, I'm only making this post because of what I'm going to call a psy-op. "He made Graduation" was one of the biggest Ye memes ever and it made me feel like a mental hospital patient. It felt like I had woken up in an alternate reality where the general consensus was that Graduation was Kanye West's magnum opus. You could make a case for every other solo album in my eyes, maybe not Jesus Is King but there are nuances to that album which make it better than Graduation.
Here's my ranking of the songs from this album for context;
  1. Drunk and Hot Girls
  2. Everything I Am
  3. Barry Bonds
  4. I Wonder
  5. Stronger
  6. Good Morning
  7. Flashing Lights
  8. Bittersweet Poetry
  9. Homecoming
  10. Good Night
  11. Big Brother
  12. Can't Tell Me Nothing
  13. Champion
  14. Good Life
  15. The Glory
Everything below Flashing Lights is bad, over half the album if you count Good Night & Bittersweet. Like genuinely a majority of these songs are so repetitive and annoying they probably rank close to the very bottom of Kanye's released discography for me. The biggest problem with this is that Graduation is inherently a narrative-based album and yet most of the songs- even the ones I like are so fucking repetitive. All the depth and variety present in College Dropout & Late Registration is gone, nearly every song sounds like it's meant to be the radio hit.
Drunk and Hot Girls is my favorite Kanye song ever and people hated and continue to hate it because it's experimental, it's dark. This album is supposed to be about how the celebrity, rapper life isn't as good as Kanye imagined. He's graduating from the Chicago backpack kid to become (at the time) probably one of the most influential celebrities. But the lyrics are not nearly as introspective or gritty as we get in other songs or later in his career. Drunk and Hot Girls perfectly, fucking flawlessly captures the dark energy the album should've had. But the rest of the album is just Kanye trying to make radio hits with almost none of that energy.
You can analyze the album in that way if you want. You can say "Oh but look at the track listing, it goes from these cheery songs like Champion and Good Life and then descends into dark songs like Barry Bonds and Drunk and Hot girls before coming out the other end with a reborn Kanye in Homecoming and Big Brother" I FUCKING GET IT OKAY I UNDERSTAND THE ALBUM however it's simply not an especially well executed version of this concept, the same concept which has been vaguely explored in every Kanye album since Late Registration.
The same narrative basically existed in Late Registration two years prior. That album is bouncing back and forth between these hype, uplifting songs like Touch The Sky and then ends on Gone which a song about how the celebrity/rapper life wasn't as good as Kanye imagined and now he doesn't really want to live it anymore...
And that make me wanna get my advance out And move to Oklahoma and just live at my aunt's house Yeah, I romance the thought of leaving it all behind Kanye step away from the lime Light like when I was on the grind
...but without the annoying songwriting of Graduation. That's my biggest critique, Graduation is literally just annoying. Like it's hard to listen to. My ears do not like listening to the chorus of Good Life. Does anyone actually like Good Life? There can't be anyone who doesn't think that song is just annoying what the fuck I don't buy it
These are all twists on the core narrative concept Graduation was attempting to execute and they're all pulled off far better- in much less bloated, more experimental, more cohesive albums with instrumentals more interesting than the likes of headache inducing sample flip like Champion or The Glory. Graduation is the worst, most primitive blueprint to what would later become the soul of Kanye's later discography, it's the least subversive, most commercial record he's ever produced.
my next rant will be about why donda 2 wouldve been kanye's best album

2024.05.20 17:23 IllIllllIIIIlIlIlIlI Commercials presenting beautiful millionaire celebrities as “common people”

This trend is so fucking lame.
Has anyone seen the new T-Mobile commercial with those dorks from Scrubs teaching actor and fucking supermodel Jason Momoa how affordable T-Mobile home internet is?
That’s Khal Drogo. That’s fucking Aquaman. Some house servant probably set up his internet for him.
And Momoa breaks into a song where he sings “I have wifi now!”
Like he was some broke ass nobody living in a studio apartment who couldn’t afford a $40 a month wifi bill.
He’s so rich and beautiful and famous why not play on that instead of presenting him as a regular joe (who’s like 6’8” and ripped)
And there’s another one, with Rashida Leah Jones from Parks and Rec. She lives in LA. She’s been cast in countless TV shows and movies and has producer credits. She’s wealthy.
Citi put her in a commercial where she plays a modern peasant woman. She says with Citi cash back you get cash back automatically, so now everything is happening automatically for her!
She walks up to an automatic door at a grocery store and it opens and she looks at the camera all shocked.
Like I get it’s supposed to be a joke but it’s not funny when you know it’s a wealthy celebrity pretending to be poor and dumb. Why not get a slightly overweight woman with dry hair to do that? It’d be so much better.

2024.05.20 16:57 ContesArchiviste Nintendo GameBoy - First Commercials (April 1989)

Hello everyone !
First post here, and even if I read everything regarding the rules - I still apologize if I did not respect one of them.
I was trying to look a bit deeper into the first commercials for the Nintendo GameBoy, released in april 1989 in Japan. They all have this "Stand by me" aesthetic (as far as I've understood, it's a cult classic over there), and allegedly shot near the border of Queensland and the Northern Territory in Australia.
https://reddit.com/link/1cwhle6/video/hm25stofil1d1/player
We can hear throughout these commercial a song in English, a kind of ballad, but even by typing down the lyrics, nothing came of it. Running Shazam just brought an artist who somehow managed to copyright a bunch of vintage Japanese commercials (Aïki Fujiharu, Side A & Side B), and nothing came out of him either.
There are only a very limited amount of topics related to this on the internet, and also some people might have found some lead, they quickly dried out.
