VW 2008 MK5 JETTA WOLFSBURG 6 SPEED
Last year I bought this car for $1K as I am broke as a joke like everyone else. Upon getting it home it flooded everytime it rains, and in SC it rains often. Replaced the battery, replaced the relays, fuses - yet wouldn't start - nothing. Finally found a starter in the junkyard and booyah! Fired right up. Changed the oil and plugs along with the coolant. Owners previous did some upgrades of their own, cat back exhaust, and an upgraded intake. I upgraded to APR ignition coils. I bought a scrubber to clear out the sunroof drains (No more flooding recently
Been loving the car, and the turbo is fun. 6 speed manual transmission, brings me back to my first car.
Recently, it's stopped shifting into gear. I've checked linkage, and clutch fluid. Sometimes if I jiggle the shifter up and down I can get it into reverse, so I figure the clutch disk and pressure plate, throw out bearing ect. is still good... is this a tower problem or the syncros and forks issue?
Any help would be appreciated!

Installed car stereo experiencing some issues
Hi there I posted a few weeks ago on what head unit to get and went with a JVC unit. I like the unit itself thus far but I’m having some issues. I did the install myself. One of these issues being, my backup camera that I installed, I got it off amazon it’s an autovox (which seems like a good brand) and for some reason when I put the car in reverse it flashes the blue no signal screen then the cam turns on. It’s not a big issue persay and I can live with it but it’s an annoying 3-4 second delay.
And now for the more major issue - the stereo is buzzing. I got a premade harness made by someone for my vehicle so I’m relatively sure all the connections were good and they looked to be it was just plug and play. However, when I installed at night I didn’t hear anything because the headlights were on. But when in the morning I started the car I heard the dreaded buzz. It doesn’t happen when the headlights are on, when the car is in ACC, or when the parking brake is pulled. I’m assuming it’s some type of power issue everyone online says something about a ground but I have no idea how to actually fix that. In the video you can’t really hear the buzz but you can see the cam issue.
So yeah fun. any help would be appreciated.

2024.05.22 04:23 Inevitable-Crew-5499 Clicking noise from hood (heard more near drivers side) when accelerating and/or when AC is on

Heyo, I’m pretty dumb when it comes to car stuff just for an FYI. Planning to take the car to a shop tomorrow but any advice beforehand would be appreciated. Just two days ago my car was misfiring so I took it to Midas (was leaving for a trip that same day) to get it repaired. The ignition coils were replaced and I got a spark plug replaced. This included them inspecting air filter, pcv valve and ignition wires, belts, hoses, vacuum hoses, fuel injector and a shit ton more that is probably useless to include. Well I drove 3 hours to Indy and it seemed fine. Today though I hear a clicking noise when the AC is on. Turn it off and it’s gone. Makes me think it’s a belt or it was something with the compressor but it also occurs when I accelerate. I have the sound of the noise in a video too that I can include if that’s helpful. But any advice would be greatly appreciated as I already dropped 800 on repairs.
I am 3 hours from my repair shop so having them check again isn’t an option atm.

2024.05.22 04:14 medussy_medussy A collection of random information on the newer Legion Tower 5 (Gen 8+) that I've found that doesn't seem to be widely known

I've been struggling to find info on certain things regarding this machine, so I'm going to compile a few things I've learned from tinkering here in hopes that anyone furiously googling their weird question about legion towers can find this post.
That should be about all. If I come up with anything else, I'll try to remember to add it in.

First let’s get that stats of my car out of the way being a 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited 6MT with 90K on the chassis and approximately 40k on an all new block. The car after being inspected by my local Subaru dealership passed with ease so I went ahead and purchased it. A few weeks pass and my car starts to have a very rough idle and gets the blinking CEL. It starts misfiring and Subaru did say it needed new spark plugs so I assumed that was the problem and got them replaced. However, later the day I get my car back the blinking CEL comes back, rough idle, and a new solid CEL follows. Check my OBD2 scanner and it’s P0019 that came up 3 times. I delete them all to see if they come back and they all do along with the CEL. As my daily I continue driving it where all of sudden the CEL comes off. I check the scanner and all but one P0019 code is gone. I then drive it per usual for a week when suddenly my CEL comes back while in idle, pull out the OBD2 and I have 3 P0019 codes. Because when the CEL is on it’s normally linked to reduced power and fuel economy in my case I quickly clear it to finish my commute. That drive goes as normal with no problems. When I come back I turn on the car to see the CEL, plug it in with all three codes except this time whenever I put the clutch in it stalls. It even stalls in neutral. The idle is beyond terrible and it will just stall at every stop light or anytime I change gears with the clutch put in more than 60%. When it stalls however, it happens without the jerking that happens when stopping in gear without the clutch. It stops per usual as if the clutch was in, except the car turns off and the Christmas tree turns on. I tried unplugging the MAF, to no avail. Other than that I’m pretty clueless on what might be the possible fix. Maybe a possible ECU reflash by an OFT? I’m not sure, but I need help because I need a working car and I for sure do not have an infinite budget. Please help, any possible ideas might keep my sanity. Thank you for anytime taken to possibly take this burden from me, I’m slightly freaking out.

2024.05.22 04:10 Graves_the_outlaw 2 dead PSUs in a month, can't figure out what the problem is

Earlier this month my EVGA Supernova 550W died. I went to turn it on one day and nothing, no mobo lights, fans, anything. Could get the mobo and case lights to flicker occasionally if I fucked with the power cable but couldn't get it to fully come back on. It was 7 years old so I just chalked it up to normal wear and tear. Just yesterday I replaced it with a Thermaltake toughpower GX2 600W and it worked fine, had it on for hours and no problems. Went to turn it on today and same thing happened, no lights, no fan, no power at all (PSU fan wasn't on as far as I could tell either), again could fuck with the power cable to get the lights to flicker occasionally but no dice. Tried unseating the ram, unplugging everything except mobo power, readjusting the positioning of the mobo cable, nothing worked. It's plugged in to a surge protector that my boyfriend's PC is also plugged into and his is working fine, as are my monitors, but I tried plugging into another surge protector and directly into the wall as well. At this point I can only assume it has something to do with either the surge protector or the outlet but my pc knowledge has run out and I'm afraid of buying another new PSU just for this to happen again. Anyone have a clue how to solve this problem? Can provide more details on the pc if necessary.

2024.05.22 04:04 margosel22 Help me figure out home charging

I moved into a managed apartment community, with optional garage space(extra $100 per month). My partner has opted for it, and now I’m trying to figure out what kind of plug we can use to home charge her car. Wall charger is out of question coz the walls are basically metal sheets, and we wanna opt out of it if it’s not worth it. There’s a couple of power outlets there already. I keep seeing NEMA 14-50, so please help me if I should get that and a mobile connector, or how it works. Please don’t be rude, I’m extremely dumb when it comes to the electrical side of things.
PS : Charging isn’t mandatory, we use public chargers and it’s not an issue at all, just thought if we have access to an outlet, we could may be use it.

2024.05.22 03:55 LeeTeriyaki Technics sl-q202 questions

Just picked up a Technics Sl-q202. A couple of questions.
I've noticed that the platter will only start spinning if the tonearm was returned automatically via the "stop" button or the record ending engaged the return. It won't start spinning again if I manually return the arm to it's resting spot then trying to manually start play again. Is this normal?
How essential is the thin rubber washer on the headshell stem? It disintegrated instantly when I touched it. I see KABUSA sells replacements...are they the exact same size?
Is it normal for the platter and tonearm to raise up and down a but when you grab the bottom of the base? Noticed this when taking it out of my car. Is it some type of suspension?

2024.05.22 03:51 Phoebes_Dad Rewatched as an ex-theater kid...

Context: I love wicked, I saw it twice in the late 2000s, I’ve spent countless hours singing along in the car with friends, and like many ppl who love wicked I was a theater kid. Over the last decade and a half, my tastes have evolved and I enjoy media with a more critical eye. This is not the same as a negative or cynical eye. I have also gone from being *the* musical theater kid to being very much an ex-musical theater kid. And so with the movie coming out I was curious how wicked would hold up for me.
Last night I watched a bootleg. It was pretty good resolution considering, but I think it being a bootleg helped strip away the spectacle to lay bare its structure and quality. And its quality is very inconsistent, both in story and in songs.
For every soaring character moment like Elphie and Glinda grappling with their lives taking them in conflicting directions, there is moment of nauseating fan fiction cringe like the needless fate of the two male leads (a change from the source material that cheapens the show AND wiz of Oz by extension). For every interesting (if underdeveloped) political idea, whether Elphie’s life of underground sentient-rights/Animal advocacy or the the shift of Morrible and the Wizard seeing Glinda as a valuable political asset, there are countering moments where the characters and themes are uselessly undermined in favor of the absolute lamest of conveniences, like the green bottle reveal and the super unclear switch in power dynamics between Glinda and morrible. And why, at the end, must Glinda never know? She would be the perfect ally to them, it makes no sense why they’d keep it from her.
The story quality is truly like an upside down bell curve where it’s either transcendent or the most cringe cheugy bottom of the barrel storytelling.Structurally, act 1 is way better but is nearly back to back songs. It’s almost an opera. Act 2 has a better balance of dialogue but it’s so rushed and the story feels held together with twice used tape.
Same with the songs. Let’s be real y’all. A lot of these songs sound ugly. And so many of them are needless hindrances to the characters and story.
No One Mourns the Wicked - the crowd’s lines are weird and cringe, but glindas parts are very high quality. Could use a rewrite.
Dear old shiz - keep as is. (It’s lucky it’s short.)
Wizard and I - keep but cut the “unlimited” sections since nobody recognizes the reference to over the rainbow anyway unless it’s pointed out to you.
What is this feeling - it’s cute, but adds nothing to the story and is a time suck. Cut.
Something bad - cut. My god cut. Missed opportunity for a dialogue break + develop Dillomond as more than a plot device and have song-less scenes with Elphie and DD be a recurring more grounded storyline. It should also have been meaningfully continued in act 2 when they’re both on the other side of the law, not just the reveal in the palace.
Dancing through life - sorry yall but this song doesn’t cut it. Dancing as a metaphor for laziness? But Dancing isn’t something lazy people do? It doesn’t make any sense, it’s too vague but also too specific (“down at the ozdust”). And like… he sings about valuing his life (“because dust is what we come to”) but in fact it’s the opposite - he takes it for granted and is willing to waste his life until he falls in love with Elphie. The song doesn’t fit the character, or the analogy, and it’s also way too high-school-musical. CUT.
Popular - keep as is.I’m not that girl - keep as is.
One short day - cut and Make it a background score. Or at least Trim it down to the “dress salons and libraries” part, ending with “it’s all green.” Make it a more direct and concise counterpart to “merry old land of Oz”
Sentimental man - CUT.
Defying gravity - keep as is.
Thank goodness - keep as is.
(Missed opportunity for a reprise of popular here)
Wonderful - make it half as long.
As long as your mine - its fine but doesn’t add anything. Cut.
No good deed - keep but get rid of that truly stupid fiyero storyline I mentioned earlier. Would be way more interesting if this was restructured to her trying to save her sister pre-cyclone.
March of the witch hunters - CUT.
For good - keep as is…. But what the hell is a “sky bird”? Lame phrases like that hold it back a bit.
Finale - eh just parse it down to a for good reprise.
They’re not going to do this, but I wish they give Wicked the Grease treatment for the movie and replace all the weaker songs with better ones or fix with structural changes.
TLDR: upon rewatch, wicked is half soaring and half mega cringe, with far too many ugly songs.

2024.05.22 03:41 SonicScott93 Work stories you can now look back at and laugh.

This might be a fun post (or not, depending on how it goes). What's a story from your night shifts that was annoying at the time but you can look back and laugh at now?
For me, it was right when I started. We only have/need two Night Porters at our relatively small hotel. So I get two quick training sessions with the current NP to replace the outgoing one. And he seemed great, knew what he was doing, etc. Just shy of 4 weeks into the job I get a phone call from work on my day off asking me to work that night on short notice as there's "an issue". OK, sure, fine. I can do that. I get into work... and the other NP walks in behind me, fully geared up to do his job. OK, that's weird. Turns out, he was being interviewed. So I'm thinking "well this can't be an exit interview. They wouldn't have sprung this on me out of nowhere, especially with how new I am to all this. I'll just keep quiet and see what happens. No point in putting my nose where it doesn't belong and annoying everyone". Turns out, he was being interviewed because he was caught on camera stealing money. Which is weird because during my training sessions he made a point of saying "this is what you do with loose money" and even pointed out where all the cameras were. So him to then do that, directly in front of a camera, is still to this day super weird to me. So then. He's let go. Fine, it's his own mess and he has nobody to blame but himself. But that means I'm stuck doing extra nights. At the time that was annoying but it also helped me get used to how things are done there.
A month later we finally get another NP. He's done this job before at other, bigger hotels, so he has experience. Great, things are back to normal. Hooray! This was about mid October... ... Cut to the start of December. I get a phone call on my day off. "We have a situation. _____ didn't show up to work last night, can you come in and cover?" Fine, sure, whatever. I'm a team player. I come in that night, and about half an hour later NP2 comes in. His excuse? Both his car and phone broke the day before. Conveniently both have been fixed but this is the first anyone has heard from him. Why didn't he phone us as soon as he could? Or email? I highly suspect he was drunk off his ass and just couldn't be bothered to turn up but that's just a guess on my part. Send him away, I guess I'm now covering his shifts. And I was covering his shifts... but I was also doing all the other shifts until Christmas now, because it turns out he wasn't doing that good a job anyway and that sudden no-show was the last straw.
All of January I'm doing basically non-stop shift after shift, we get a new NP mid-February, and he's still here over a year later so it looks like we're good (and I swear to God if I've jinxed that by posting this...)

2024.05.22 03:28 Kay_floweringnow Today is a mile post.

Today is a mile post.
I, trans female, 48, started my new job. It’s the end of something and the beginning of another. This arc I’m on is amazing and I am happy beyond words. I’m also nervous.
I’m as me as I know how. Everyday I’m learning to be a better me. The fear that used to control my life is replaced with the same nervous energy that sits in the pit of my stomach before a hard rapid.
My kayaking trip to Colorado was transformative. But I did have a swim. I swam out of a huge hole right in the middle of the river on the Shoshone section of the Colorado. I should have rolled. But once swimming I paddle swam to an eddy on river right, right next to a bike path.
And I plugged that hole just a touch left of center. It swallowed me up and shot me back into the air into a nearly perfect flip before landing back in its teeth to get pummeled with the crashing water. Only to be spit out as I pulled the skirt and kicked out from my boat. Damn, that water was fast.
But it isn’t a set back. It’s part of the fun. It’s part of finding limits and pushing them. And 99% of those limits I’m pushing are the ones in my head. I applied, interviewed, did the physical, and completed the new employee onboarding as me, Kay.
I’m going to work as me. Nervous, beautiful, awkward, confident, with a smile. Yes I’m nervous. I’ve had two moments of dysphoria this evening. They suck. One was thinking about my voice negatively and another was over clothes to wear tomorrow. But that’s not going to change what I’m doing tomorrow. In my head I’m just saying ‘hay, this is the good stuff.’ I’m living my deepest most closely held dream.
And it’s better than I imagined. Hard hard work ahead. Work I’m finally able to do.
See you on the river, Kay.

2024.05.22 03:15 safeedstransport What to Do When a Transport Truck Breaks Down?

What to Do When a Transport Truck Breaks Down?
Transporting your vehicle can usually be a smooth and efficient process, but sometimes unforeseen issues like a transport truck breakdown can occur. When this happens, it's important to know how to handle the situation to minimize delays and frustration. This guide provides practical steps to take, drawing from real-world experiences to help you navigate such challenges.
Immediate Steps to Take
https://preview.redd.it/47wehvhipv1d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=b1bc376825ff5d9c7eac7563bb9b30b73b8dcfe5
1. Request Detailed Information
  • Location of the Truck: Ask the carrier for the exact location of the transport truck and your vehicle. Knowing whether the truck is at a repair shop, a motel, or roadside is crucial for planning your next steps.
  • Repair Status: Inquire about the nature of the breakdown and the estimated repair time. Understanding the problem can help you gauge the potential delay.
2. Establish Clear Communication
  • Regular Updates: Insist on regular updates about the status of the truck repair and the new estimated delivery time. Frequent communication helps manage your expectations and keeps you informed about progress and potential delays.
  • Contact Details: Ensure you have direct contact details for the carrier’s dispatch team and any involved mechanics.
Alternative Solutions
1. Find Another Carrier
  • Seek Help: If the delay is significant, look for another carrier who can take over the shipment. Check with your auto transport broker or reach out to your network for recommendations.
  • Get the Location: Request the exact location of your vehicle, including the address of the repair shop or motel where it’s being stored. This will help you coordinate with a new carrier if needed.
2. Temporary Storage
  • Secure Location: If the delay is extended and a replacement carrier is not immediately available, arrange for the vehicle to be stored at a secure location. This could be a nearby repair shop or storage facility.
  • Stay Informed: Communicate with the storage facility to ensure your vehicle is safe and inquire about any additional fees.
https://preview.redd.it/cej5ue9mpv1d1.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=e074945b4d35de40197f7a1667ffa42865d7c210
Managing Expectations
1. Transparency
  • Inform the Carrier: Keep the carrier informed about your expectations for updates and progress. Transparency about delays and efforts to resolve the issue can help maintain trust.
  • Apologize and Reassure: If you are coordinating the transport for someone else, apologize for the inconvenience and reassure them that you are actively working on a solution. Highlight your commitment to delivering their vehicle safely and as quickly as possible.
2. Compensation and Refunds
  • Review Contract Terms: Check the contract for any clauses related to delays and compensation. Discuss possible refunds or discounts with the carrier or broker if the delay is significant.
  • Offer Solutions: Depending on the circumstances, offer solutions such as discounts on future services or partial refunds to compensate for the inconvenience.
Documentation and Escalation
1. Document Everything
  • Keep Records: Maintain a record of all communications (texts, emails, call logs) with the carrier and broker. This documentation can be useful if you need to escalate the issue.
2. Contact Higher Management
  • Escalate the Issue: If you are not getting satisfactory responses from the dispatch or customer service representatives, ask to speak with a supervisor or manager. Escalating the issue can sometimes expedite the resolution process.
Real-World Experiences
Positive Resolution with Communicative Carrier: In one instance, the carrier encountered a mechanical issue, resulting in the truck being stranded at a repair shop for two days. The carrier promptly informed me and provided the repair shop’s address. They went above and beyond by reaching out to their network to find a replacement carrier. Regular communication kept both myself and the customer updated, turning a potential problem into a manageable situation. Despite a slight delay, the customer remained informed and satisfied.
Frustration with Unresponsive Carrier: In another instance, the carrier broke down midway through the journey and failed to provide timely updates. Repeated delays and unfulfilled promises left both the customer and myself frustrated. This experience underscored the importance of responsiveness and transparency in maintaining customer trust and satisfaction.

2024.05.22 03:15 TheChingy Sis in Law... Ugh

My sister in law always brings her kids over to where I live (we live with my husband's dad cuz he's elderly) and her kids just come over, trash the house, and leave. She has 4 kids all under 10 and they come over and put food all over the tables and counters, toys everywhere, even their shoes and jackets just thrown everywhere. They come over and eat mine and my husband's food that we buy and we aren't rich. They don't replace it. She makes plans to come over to the house and doesn't tell anyone. She just drops by without a single word to my husband or I. So I'll be in the shower or something and the kids will be banging on my door wanting to see me but like wth ? Really ? I love the kids but they don't know how to clean up after themselves and we have to parent them every. Single. Time. Girly is just on the couch on her phone making plans with other moms or pitching and complaining about something. MIND YOU: This woman is living the ✨️ dream ✨️. She's a stay-at-home mom/wife and has HER OWN HOUSE that's unfortunately 5 min away from ours. Her house is nice and big, she's got the cars, her husband has a great job with "unlimited PTO" as he says. Yet, she's SO miserable. Like all the time. Her boys do baseball and she's always like "UGH gotta be there at 8 AM hahaha!!" Like, okay? Why do you sign yourself up for this shit? Our house has a pool and I'm dreading it again this year. Last year, she just kept bringing her kids over without telling anyone and so we will be walking around the house and BOOM. A child. Soaking wet running in the house. They leave doors open so our place had a bunch of flies and gnats. She also had the audacity to invite all of her friends over and had a party without even TELLING US. AND! She said that WE had to use the community pool in the neighborhood if we had a problem with it. We pay rent. She has her own house which, by the way, is a total disaster. Sigh... I haven't been able to get this out. So... thank you for reading this far if you did. She's cool when she wants to be... but man... she seriously does not care about anything or anyone. In the past, she's threatened my husband telling him that she'd not let the family see the kids cuz she felt "unwelcomed" at our house. When all we said was to LET US KNOW. I live on high alert because I don't know when a kid will come crashing through the door. Rant over... thanks for reading 🤧 I've held this in for a long time. I talk to my husband, but no one else really knows.
TLDR: Sis in law lacks MAJOR boundaries and walks into our house like she owns the place. Kids come and trash the house and then leave. We are left to pick up the place cuz no one will tell her anything. A RANT.

2024.05.22 02:51 Last_Video_4509 Leak testing modifications to DWV lines?

I'm planning on doing a bathroom renovation. It's currently plumbed with ABS DWV lines. The extent of the plumbing modifications associated with the renovation will be:
  1. Cutting the cap off an existing roughed-in drain pipe that is buried in the wall and cementing on a long sweep fitting to get it out of the wall for a second sink drain
  2. Cutting the existing tub drain/overflow pipe below the tee and reinstalling a comparable drain so that it lines up with the new tub drain location which will have moved by a couple inches
  3. Replacing the rough-in shower valve while I'm in there
My questions are:
  1. Would these modifications typically require a permit? I understand that it can vary by jurisdiction and that I should call my local building department (their website provides no insight), but I'm curious if this is a borderline (it varies by jurisdiction) or "almost certainly yes/no" scenario
  2. If a permit and inspection is required, how would I test for leaks? I'm aware of the procedure for a rough-in inspection, but in this case to fill the plumbing stack with water 10' over the highest fixture would flood out through all the existing fixtures. Are you really expected to disconnect them all and plug their drain lines just to prove that two new joints are good, or is there an exception in the code for limited new work (I looked through IPC briefly but didn't find anything)? Seems excessive to me, but maybe that's the standard?
  3. If it would technically require a permit/inspection, is this the kind of thing you'd risk (as a homeowner, not a professional) doing without one to avoid the hassle? And if so, what would you do to satisfy yourself that your joints are good before you close up the walls?

2024.05.22 02:50 AllusionSoleil Dumb blonde buys miata

Please help lol, I have a 1997 Mazda Miata I bought for $7500. The owner was very upfront that everything was new and stock, but the engine had never been replaced. About a month after I bought it the engine started knocking. I know nothing about cars so I have a few questions.
  1. I kind of want a cool engine tbh, I’m not even interested in going very fast but it would be nice to hear a cool sound and maybe pull up to some car meets. Definitely under 10k what are my best bets?
  2. Can I sell my old engine and if so, how do I know what it’s worth?
  3. Any tips on miata maintenance or driving skill would be appreciated!

16-minute read.

pro-West party leader says they met PM Pashinyan and discussed a referendum to solidify Armenia's shift to EU

KHZMALYAN (European Party of Armenia): The referendum is our suggestion and demand. We presented it to Pashinyan and expect a response within a reasonable timeframe. We advised making a public statement soon. A referendum would also make Pashinyan's job easier by allowing the people's will to decide Armenia's direction.
REPORTER: How did Pashinyan respond?
KHZMALYAN: He suggested the meeting be held in a closed format so I can't reveal all details. We hope that our voice, our offer, our demand, was heard. If we do not receive a positive response, we will take measures by employing the same methods currently used by anti-European forces [the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian ex-regime]. We will take to the streets and demand a referendum for Eurointegration if necessary.
REPORTER: How long are you ready to wait before taking action?
KHZMALYAN: A few months. Georgia will hold parliamentary elections in October, and Moldova will hold a similar Eurointegration referendum - also in October. The U.S. will hold presidential elections in November which will be important for Armenia's future. Even if the worst scenario unfolds in all three countries, Armenia must stand firm and not take a step back. Armenia could become the leader in democracy in all of Eastern Europe if you consider the situation in Georgia, Hungary, and Slovakia [pro-Russia populist leader]. Armenia could receive an unprecedented level of assistance from Europe under those circumstances.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan say he plans to leave CSTO?
KHZMALYAN: We did not demand specific dates but we urged him to complete all these processes this year, preferably by November.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan agree?
KHZMALYAN: The participants of the meeting are under the impression that we were able to present convincing arguments but time will show what actions he takes. The government functions very poorly but nevertheless, they are doing something, they are taking steps.
REPORTER: On May 9, Bagrat Galstanyan gave Pashinyan 1 hour to resign but it's May 21 and he is still here. Why wasn't the opposition able to remove him?
KHZMALYAN: The 3 former presidents and their surrogate forces, backed by 30 years of power, were unable to bring forward a figurehead, a single ideology, that could win the hearts of the people. They used various political technologies, they switched between black and white robes, and they extended the 1 hour to 7 days, but none of that helped because the Armenian people hate them more than they hate Nikol Pashinyan.
REPORTER: You used to be a lot harsher on Pashinyan but something appears to have changed in your tone after your recent meeting with him. What is the reason?
KHZMALYAN: We were able to present our demands and the timelines to accomplish them. Unlike the archbishop and the former regimes surrounding him, we did not give "one hour" for Pashinyan to accept our demands; we did not make ultimatums. We believe the current government is carrying out and will carry out the will of the people to overcome the status of a Russian colony and join the ranks of free nations. We did and do see steps [taken by the government] towards this; we cannot ignore this. We saw the Strassbourg, but also Moscow. We saw the [April 5 meeting in] Brussels, but also [the recent meeting between FMs in] Almaty. We are told this is an attempt to "balance" and we understand where they are coming from, but our factions speak on behalf of over 60% of Armenians who view Russia's policies as deadly for Armenia. We expect concrete actions and we have formed a platform to continue this work; there will be petitions and other actions from us. We are ready to assist Pashinyan, who may be constrained due to ongoing negotiations, by being the public voice and saying the things he cannot say. We will continue to work, to pressure, to influence, to demand. Our meetings also continue abroad. We will press on until we reach our goal - the Eurointegration of Armenia. //
Several prominent Western-oriented political parties recently formed an alliance to promote Armenia's Eurointegration.

Q&A with ruling party MP Vahagn Alexanyan about the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian opposition

REPORTER: You continue to criticize the "holy movement"...
ALEXANYAN: The what now?
REPORTER: ... the "holy movement", by calling it a "pagan" movement. What is the ruling party's stance and do you discuss this internally?
ALEXANYAN: Of course we do, although I don't think Kocharyan's decision to name this movement "holy" is helping them. It's comical.
REPORTER: Do you have proof that Bagrat srbazan is [tied with Kocharyan]?
ALEXANYAN: Bagrat Galstanyan is surrounded by the entire political team of Robert Koharyan, he was a member of Kocharyan's 2022 protests and gave similar speeches he gives today, he received a praise from Russian propagandists, and he was named by a Russian propagandist Aram Gabrielyanov as a potential candidate for a new protest movement just a few months prior to these events, so it's beyond reasonable doubt that Bagrat Galstanyan is part of Kocharyan's team.
REPORTER: You were earlier accusing Galstanyan of being a Russian agent, and now Kocharyan's agent?
ALEXANYAN: Same thing.
REPORTER: The opposition gathered many thousands of supporters on May 9. What does the size of the crowd indicate?
ALEXANYAN: It was similar to Kocharyan's final rally before the 2021 elections. And?
REPORTER: The opposition created a video of "Pashinyan's lies" and broken promises. Will you respond?
ALEXANYAN: The clip itself is a lie and manipulation. For example, one of the supposed lies was Pashinyan's promise of an amnesty for overdue fines and penalties. You are a journalist, you tell me, was there an amnesty or not?
REPORTER: Pashinyan had also said that POWs could wait "just a few more months" and that he wouldn't "sacrifice Armenia's sovereignty" in exchange for bringing them back sooner. Why aren't they back?
ALEXANYAN: Dozens of POWs returned home in December, and efforts continue to bring back the rest. Literally 1-2 days before the POWs' return, the opposition claimed that the POWs were "forgotten" by the government. "Ոչ մի բան չեք անում:"
REPORTER: What about the Nagorno-Karabakh leadership?
ALEXANYAN: There are efforts to return them as well.
REPORTER: Why did the police form a wall to block entry to village Kirants [for nonresidents]?
ALEXANYAN: I think the NSS said they had to take action to prevent interference with the border work. From what I can tell, the protest leader himself went there yesterday and returned only 15 minutes later so there wasn't a big desire to stay there apparently.
REPORTER: They plan to hold a big rally on May 26 where they might nominate Bagrat srbazan as the PM's candidate to replace Pashinyan.
ALEXANYAN: Why not go straight for [alleged narco baron] Mihran Poghosyan [who publicly praised the protests]?
REPORTER: There appears to be a consensus around Bagrat srbazan after a meeting between several forces.
ALEXANYAN: Consensus minus one, where "minus one" is the people. Or to be more precise, "minus two", because the Constitution also prohibits Bagrat from serving as a prime minister. Congratulations on an initiative that's dead on arrival. It's absurd. They suggested replacing the Constitution to allow a dual citizen to serve as PM. Okay... To get Canadian citizenship you have to take an oath to serve the best interests of Canada. To allow dual citizens to serve as PM in Armenia we have to accept for the PM to have loyalty towards another state. The alternative is for the candidate [Bagrat] to admit that his word [oath to Canada] wasn't worth a dime. Երևի մատերը խաչ արած ա երդվել։
REPORTER: But don't you think you are manipulating because Galstanyan received Canadian citizenship just to be able to serve in the church in Canada? He didn't go there to live or conduct business.
ALEXANYAN: It doesn't matter why he went to Canada. He is a citizen of Canada and took an oath. Even religious leaders with dual citizenship cannot become prime ministers. I don't have an issue with him being a dual citizen, but it limits his office options. He still hasn't renounced his Canadian citizenship even after all these talks about a possible nomination.
REPORTER: Galstanyan said he is ready to renounce it as soon as there is a need for it.
ALEXANYAN: In other words, he seeks "guarantees" that he will be the candidate in order to renounce it?

opposition churchman Bagrat Galstanyan demands the Armenian government compensate the damage done to the church during USSR and "return" the properties "legally belonging" to the church

This was said as a response to the critics of the church leadership who accused the church of turning into a political party and suggested taxing the church like a business.
BAGRAT: We have 19th-century churches that were forcefully confiscated and turned into ruins. The properties of the Armenian church must be returned to the church. The area of Moscow Cinema belongs to the church, half of the Katoghike Church was demolished and belongs to the church, and part of the items in Matenadaran were taken away from the church. Armenia's Constitutional Court has a vacant seat. Pro-Russian opposition criticizes Pashinyan's ruling party for favoring a "George Soros-linked" judge who worked for U.S. State Department.

A Serj-era judge is leaving the Constitutional Court after receiving a job offer elsewhere so one seat is vacant. It is the judiciary's turn to nominate a CC judge, so hundreds of judges recently held a meeting and voted for Judge Balayan as their candidate. Balayan's father was a CC judge during Kocharyan's tenure. He was accused in the Wikileaks report of having inappropriate deals with President Kocharyan. Pashinyan's ruling party did not vote to approve Balayan. This led to a second gathering of hundreds of judges where they voted to nominate Judge Khachaturyan as their candidate. The parliament summoned him for Q&A on Tuesday.
SPEAKER: We invite the representative of the judiciary to present their nominee for CC.
JUDICIARY REP: 267 judges voted. Judge Davit Khachaturyan, a member of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, won the majority votes.
2000-2005: [blah blah blah]
2003-2006: Legislative Assistance Project Manager at Southern Caucasus Anti-Drug (SCAD) Program, sponsored by European Union and implemented by United Nations Development Program
2006: Program Assistant at U.S. Embassy in Armenia, Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)
2007-2013: U.S. Embassy in Armenia, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Legal Specialist
2014: Academy of Justice of the Republic of Armenian-Russian, Vice-Rector and Lecturer
2015-2016: Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Program “Strengthening Health Care and Human Rights Protection in Prisons in Armenia”, Legal Expert
2016: EU project “Development and Strategic Studies”, Expert on Judiciary and Human Rights field reforms
2015-2017: EU project “ENP Progress Reports and Assessment Reports on Armenia´s Compliance with GSP+ obligations”. Expert on Rule of Law/Justice.
2013–2020: Law Faculty of Yerevan State University. Lecturer. Development and teaching of courses for the Master Program: “European Standards for the human rights protection in criminal proceedings”, and “Professional Skills of a Lawyer”
etc.
OPPOSITION MP: The ruling faction earlier chose not to confirm the appointment of Judge Davit Balayan; they obviously prefer Davit Khachaturyan. Can you explain why you didn't mention that Khachaturyan served on the board of directors and later as the president of the board at George Soros's Armenia-based Open Society Foundations? How will this record impact his work at CC?
JUDICIARY REP: I presented parts of his professional activities available on the court's public platforms. You can ask the candidate directly.
OPPOSITION MP: The Soros Foundation publicly listed him as a member so I don't understand why it's being hidden now. In your opinion, how will his work at the Soros Foundation affect his impartiality?
JUDICIARY REP: The majority of judges chose him and it's up to Parliament whether to confirm or reject.
RULING MP: Was the voting held in a closed session or can you see how each judge voted?
JUDICIARY REP: It's a closed format. My duty here is to present the candidate. [basically, leave me alone I'm just doing my job]
RULING MP: Why not make the court voting and internal discussions more transparent for the public to see so we will have fewer conspiracy theories on why one judge was preferred over the other?
JUDICIARY REP: I share the view that it needs to be as public as possible but the majority of judges voted to keep the session closed to the press.
RULING MP: Just because the discussions and the vote were behind closed doors that doesn't mean it was anti-democratic, but still, it's better to publicize the process. We hope to see a change in this approach.
JUDICIARY REP: The ballot casting will always be secret and I think that's the right approach in order to allow judges to express themselves without constraints, but I agree that the discussions and speeches should be public. Either way whatever we discuss behind closed doors always reaches the press so in practice there isn't really a major transparency issue there.
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: First, every part of my biography has always been public and part of public discussions. Second, I have always voted in favor of making internal discussions open to the press; it's the best way to avoid incorrect assumptions. Full speech here.
OPPOSITION MP: Congratulations. The ruling party intends to approve your candidacy just as they voted for you in the past for other positions. In all of those instances, you didn't mention your work at the Сорос Foundation. Now, a very interesting coincidence [drumroll... are you guys ready for this bombshell?], during the same time while you worked at Сорос foundation, in 2006-2013, you were also a U.S. Embassy employee [got 'em]. //
Nikol Pashinyan has resigned.
Tavush stretches all the way to Russia.
Bagrat srbazan becomes the Supreme Leader of Historical Soil & Water and the Generalissimos of Slow-Melting Candles... and of course removes the speed cameras from highways.
OPPOSITION MP (continues): With this biography, how do we know you are not an agent of foreign influence?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I was not an "employee" at the Soros Foundations. Other famous figures have served on the Board [mentions a famous doctor]. Everyone who was part of the Board had duties but it was not really an "employment". As for my simultaneous work with the U.S. Justice Department, there was no conflict with my membership or presidency at the Board because the latter was fully a public activity and we were only given a symbolic sum to compensate for our expenses; we are talking about less than $100/mo. I will let you be the judge regarding an agent of influence. There is a lot that's missing from my biography that was read here [lists some boring constitutional research work, etc.].
OPPOSITION MP: You keep being "promoted" by the ruling party without having the chance to finish your terms. The longest job you've ever held was at the Сорос Foundation - 8 years. The brother of the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, who is about to join the CC, cannot be impartial. Again, what guarantees can you present that you are not a [Western] agent?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: Your expectation for guarantees stems from the assumption that the [Open Society Foundations] were engaged in activities other than the ones they were actually engaged in. I won't present any "guarantees" because there is no "threat" to begin with. As I've said, that part of my biography has always been discussed publicly and the activities were public and covered by the press.
RULING MP: In your speech you spoke about the judiciary in the U.S. and brought examples. The U.S. doesn't have a Constitutional Court. Don't you think we should also merge the Constitutional and [Cassations Court] with the upcoming referendum to have one Supreme Court with corresponding chambers?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I support having one unified body like in the U.S., or clarifying the duties to prevent each body from interfering with the other. Lengthy answer.
OPPOSITION MP: A person [in Kirants] received permission [from USSR] to build a house and live in it. Then the [Armenian] government told him there was a mistake [after the clarification of borders]. Some 50 years after this incident, what would your verdict be in this case?
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: I understand the context. This issue is the task of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and we cannot interfere in each other's institutions. I assume there will be a peace agreement eventually that will be sent to the Constitutional Court for examination, therefore I will refrain from making prejudgments now in order to be allowed to take part in future processes.

2024.05.22 02:33 Turbulent_County_903 I need troubleshooting help, what is the best way to investigate low hot water flow at bathtub/shower based on this specific situation

I need help figuring out the most efficient way to troubleshoot the low hot water flow in our bath/shower. The situation is as follows:
Two story, 1.5 bedroom house, bath/shower is on 2nd floor. Had low hot water flow in showetub, about 50% of the flow of the cold water prior to plumbing work. Have a Moentrol shower valve. Have galvanized pipes.
Then had a plumber come over as some of the galvanized plumbing needed to be replaced, the entire run of pipe from the water heater to the 1st floor faucets was replaced, but did not replace the horizontal run of hot water or cold water across the finished basement ceiling nor the vertical run up to the 2nd floor bathroom as the pipes are difficult to access. The 2nd floor bathroom has copper pipes in it as it was remodeled maybe 20-30 years ago. The first floor faucets have hot water flow about 80-90% of the flow of cold water, similar to what it was before the galvanized pipes were replaced with copper (I was hoping the hot and cold water flow would be equal after this pipe replacement but no such luck). The upstairs sink faucet has flow that is about 90% of the flow of cold water, similar to before the basement pipe replacement. The tub faucet and shower now have about 10-20% of the flow of cold water out of both the tub faucet and showerhead, which means the already low flow of hot water to the tub has been cut in half to the point of barely being functional.
How should I attack this problem and in what order? The pipes behind the shower are very difficult to access. Options I thought of include try to change the shower valve cartridge (Moen 1225), remove and clean the 1423 balancing spool of the shower valve, backflush hot water pipes from the 2nd floor (if that is even possible), replace horizontal run of galvanized pipe ($$$, and why would the flow of water in the 2nd floor tub and shower be disproportionately affected compared to the sink faucet in the same bathroom?) or something else I haven't thought of. If I had to speculate, it would be that some debris in the hot water pipe broke off and travelled distally and got stuck, and I would think the most likely area for it be stuck would be the shower valve, but I'm not a plumber, and not even that good of a handyman.
Experts, please help me. If this was your house how would you attack this problem?

I have no idea what happened, but this is not the kind of damage I associate with a puncture. Not sure if the treads are too worn, but they don’t look shot to me. Had no issue with tire pressure prior to this. Had been driving for maybe 20-25 minutes when this happened. Was going about 70 on the interstate.
I mostly want to know if this is from west-and-year or if this is a defect. If wear-and-tear, how do I avoid? If defect, will the tires likely be replaced under my Toyota lease? If not, given that my car is AWD, can I get away with two tires only? My lease ends in January of 2025 and I’d rather not replace all 4 tires just to drive the car for 6 more months.
Your expertise and insight into possible causes, coverage, etc., is greatly appreciated!
