2024.05.22 03:15 DiscountEvening7569 How do y'all deal with the existential dread?

Hit my thirties and I'm stressing big time. After some research about gender dysphoria I think I've been living with it for the past 20 years give or take.
I can't stop ruminating and rotting over all the lost time. I'll never be a young woman discovering herself with other young people, and having experiences through the unjaded lens of my college years looking forward not only to a bright future, but a bright present also.
Everytime I see a young woman I die from envy. Every time I see the elderly I'm thunderstruck with ice cold dread. Everytime I see my peers, I'm frozen in guilt and shame. "I'm too old to transition, this makes no sense. What am I going to transition into, a spinster? What a creepy and perverted path I've found myself on."
Every avenue of self improvement or attempt to alleviate this heavy cloud hanging over me runs into a brick wall "You're too old, what's the point? Why are you coping lying to yourself? Skincare? Prolonging the inevitable. Weight loss? Your skin will sag no doubt. Growing your haiactually taking care of it for once? It will all be grey soon or fall out, who are you doing all this for?"
The kicker of all this is, I don't even look that old from what I l've been told. People regularly mistake me for early twenties and act shocked when I tell them my age. Could be a performance, idk.
I've decided for the present I want to try living. I'm tired of slowly dying throughout my twenties, and I'm ready to see a psychiatrist, get HRT, whatever it takes so that I don't waste another decade and threefold curse myself in my 40s.
How do y'all deal with it? It's like an anchor tying me down and I don't want to add anymore weight.

2024.05.22 03:05 DannyBarsRaps 3 reasons that I think we win in 7 or less vs FLA: 1.)Goaltending, 2.) Special Teams 3.)Lineup (Depth & Balance) - & 1 *bonus* reason at the bottom #LGR!!

*UNRELATED BUT RE:JINXING IT: it dont be silly (says the guy who hasnt shaved in multiple weeks now lmfao but thats more a camaraderie tradition thing with the team/my brothers) but WE in NY should know better than anyone even the Pres Trophy 'curse' doesnt effect us (the last 3 we got to the FINAL the last time, got knocked out in game 7 of the ECF by Tampa when they were in dynasty mode, annnnd won the cup in 94, the year we won the PT, plus this year worst case another ECF loss....
*TO THE MAIN POINT(S)* ill keep em brief cuz im sure u get the idea and also have opinions of your own but lets try and respect eachother as fellow humans but right now moreso AS FELLOW RANGERS!
THE REASONS IF UR JUST HERE FOR THE MEAT AND POTATOES OF IT:
1.) Igor > Bob - i know these are the two only ELITE goalies left though Oett is playing really well but not on this level...these guys can steal series but i lean Igor cuz A.) theres a reason we got Quick as a backup after he literally played in LAST YRS playoffs lol, to rest Igor for long series/posteason, the longer it goes the more that edge can help - also looking at their playoff numbers Igor's got most covered (i dont really put much into GAA and more into SAVE % as a former minor goalie cuz if u have great defense etc it helps but save % is just how well YOU did against ON GOAL SHOTS aka goals if ur not there (and also 'big chance' bob and igor are abotu tied but Bob also hasnt faced a team as offensively talented as the rangers (atleast right now the way the playoffs are goin, not that FLA is a slouch)
2.)Special Teams, they made the diff in CAR a few times, and CAR was meant to be top 3 at PP AND PK...well as we know it duidnt go that way for their ST's and not only are we scoring SH goals keeping teams wary but going into this series our PP is 31.4% and FLA's PK is 22.1% - thats gonna give 3 or 4 goals on avg against any goalie/games at this level facing a PP as clinical as NY (personally i do worry it could be worse as Fox looks to be playing injured and sturggles to pivot as well/agility so being our top 'QB' on the PP could be an issue)
3.) LIneup - again its hard to seperate these teams but i STILL think we have a slight edge in all 3, OFF (they're more top heavy, we get scoring up and down the lineup - ALSO we have teh 'good' problem of picking Rempe for more physical, Blake Wheeler is back AND Chytils at full health, obv cold but i trust Lav cuz he earned it and also he sees way more than we do behind the scenes. - Point is say Mika or Panarin have a garbage game/series or dont show up theres on fire Laff AND Trocheck, very solid Roslovic and i doubt Mika AND Bread dissapear at the same time but theres one player OBV not mentioned for a reason...Kreider.
As Kreider has adjusted his game to being a deflecting netfront presence vs the 'speed power' in his earlier game but (legacy game aside aka the #RalieghRallyNattyHatty lol) but the point is over the last 5 years EVERYONE knows thats his game and he still leads the league in tip ins...its the fact they CANT STOP HIM from doing something thats generating goals and if they DO put enough effort into stopping him itll leave more time and space for others...
****BONUS REASON***** this effects everyone AND strategically cuz u get 2 periods vs 1 of the 'short switch' and as the home team in a poss game 7 not only is IGOour record at MSG inane but that building will be exploding...its been proven many times refs tend to favor home teams likely due to subsciouscious pressure from the crowd (like giving a 'bs makeup call' which many former refs admit is common) but also as the home team THEY have to put their lines out first so we can 'react' instead of putting out a physical 4th line only to see them put their big guns out etc
*I know this isnt all like, shockingly insightful but just antsy so thought id see what yall think or if yall knew this info too or agreed/disagree?d

2024.05.22 03:01 Reasonable_Ice9702 Just got my results back from my T test and it makes so much sense now.

I forgot what the first number was for but it was at a 64 and my free testosterone level was at 375. Iā€™m 33.
When I got into my 30s is when I started to feel more depressed, low energy, low sex drive and all that. Even in my last relationship I had no desire to have sex with her and I think this is what eventually lead to our break up. She said it wasnā€™t about sex but let be real it most definitely was.
My doctor is advising against T shots because she said once you start it you have to keep doing it.
Iā€™ve been working from home since I turned 30 basically and I believe this is a contributor to it since I barely get outside.
Iā€™m wondering what yā€™all are doing naturally to get you T back up. Technically 375 isnā€™t low but my doctor said an ideal range would be 500 or above. I canā€™t weight lift right now because just had hand surgery.
Iā€™m glad I got it test now because I can be better prepared for my next relationship. Iā€™d love to hear what yā€™all did to help with it.

2024.05.22 02:59 almondjoylover increasing calories

Hi everyone(F22, 5ā€™9)So I ended up going to the doctor about my weight. She told me that I should be exercising five times a week and going on a calorie deficit. She also told me to try cut out red meat and soda . My first appointment was 04/12 and i weighed 458lbs. I went back for a check-up 05/10 and weighed 441lbs. My concern is my calories. I was eating around 1800-2000 a day. I know that it is way lower than what I should, but I just wanted quick results. I have have now learned about sustainability and have been eating around 2300-2500 since 05/11. I am just scared that Iā€™ll gain weight from that since I was eating less than that for a few weeks. Will I still lose , but in smaller amounts ? I also donā€™t own a scale of my own yet, so I have no idea!

2024.05.22 02:54 readyfreddy3618 ECV experience - positive but unsuccessful

Reading other ECV experiences was so helpful for me going into mine that I thought I would share!
TLDR: not as painful as I thought it could be, was not successful, no complications, would do it again/glad we tried.
This is my second baby. Footling breech and has been from at least 32 weeks when we discovered it at a growth ultrasound scheduled because we had COVID and they offered to me. Weā€™re based in the US.
Scheduled ECV for 37w6d. The nurse called to tell me we were doing it a little later than they wanted because of scheduling at the hospital and it would be a mid-day slot instead of first thing in the morning. Because you prepare like a c-section this meant no watefood until the procedure and monitoring was done. Eek.
I was so nervous because I heard from the doctors, nurses, internet, and some friends that this is a really really painful procedure and the (rare) risks were scary (emergency c section, placental abruption, fetal distress). I wasnā€™t sure if this was selfish to try when there were so many potential risks to the baby just because I was trying to avoid a c-section. I felt a little better after reading about the (more uncommon) risks to a c-section the night before when I was almost ready to call the whole thing off. That made me feel a little more justified in the decision.
Day of: drove separately from my husband with the plan to try to do this without an epidural or spinal. Got there 1.5 hours before and everyone was delighted we arrived so early (I thought we were late!) I wasnā€™t as hungry/thirsty as I thought I would be, completely doable. Got set up in a room with a hospital gown but kept bra/underwear on which was great because youā€™re pretty exposed during all of this. The wrist IV was a little more painful than I wanted but it was great to have some fluids finally. Got the shot to relax my uterus and it was a teeny prick, super minimal. 15 minutes later we were ready to go. I didnā€™t have the heart racing experience from the uterus relaxing shot I had read about.
Procedure: 2 doctors, 1 PA and 1 nurse were helping me. 1 doctor was doing the ultrasound and helping to position while my primary doctor called the shots and directed everyone/did most of the maneuvering. It was strong pushing on my stomach at first with some more intense pushes. I wouldnā€™t call this pain, just heavy pressure. The hardest part was that I was tensing up and bracing myself a lot against the hospital bed and they were asking me to try to relax. Iā€™m not sure if did take the epidural or spinal if it would have been easier for them because I would have been less tense. They didnā€™t seem to think so but you only get so many tries to turn the baby before they donā€™t want to do more and risk overdoing it and causing risks. My doctor said itā€™s normally 3 tries and we did 4-5 tries over 15 minutes with 2 breaks.
So unsuccessful but glad we did it. They told me we could try again right before the scheduled c section when Iā€™ve had a spinal and see if that would work. Also sometimes babies still turn!
I could drive myself home after this and feel some soreness like a bruise but nothing major. They told me to watch out for bleeding, contractions, signs of labor or loss of movement for baby. Right now baby is super active and no signs of any issues. If youā€™re thinking about it I would recommend even though mine didnā€™t work! It wasnā€™t nearly as bad as I thought it would be and Iā€™m glad we tried.

2024.05.22 02:50 Warm_Smoke_5462 So thankful for this sub!

I was mostly a longtime lurker, but had commented here and there. I started my weight loss journey as a 5ā€™4 woman right about 240 lbs. Due to my PCOS and the very toxic misinformation in a lot of PCOS subs/support groups in terms of diets and how ā€œno matter what you do it wonā€™t work without medicationā€ I was very hesitant to start and to give all my efforts for ā€œnothingā€. Well, that nothing has brought me to current day where I am FINALLY in the 170s. My first goal was set at 160 before a trip in September, but would like to keep going more into the 145-150 range. Iā€™m so thankful for all the information, encouraging posts, highs and lows shared authentically here. Iā€™ve noticed I am more confident, more energy, my body no longer aches, my life feels as if it has more potential again and the best is I have learned to heal my relationship with food. I have learned to enjoy recreating a food or sweet I love into something at a fraction of the calorie base while doing my best to incorporate protein as well. In doing this I have managed to lose 1.8-2.3 lbs a week on average. Some weeks maybe 1 lb some weeks 4 lbs but the average and being consistent is what I have learned matter the most. I started this journey as a scared woman that felt she was doomed to always want and wish for what ā€œthose girlsā€ looked like. Iā€™m now in my era of loving myself, my body, my strength. I canā€™t wait to see what this body of mine looks like in the next few weeks, months, years even. I know this post is horrible with grammar, I am just high on life and seeing how much better things can be. I just wanted to give some hope to some other women who may also be here lurking due to the horrible advice from PCOS groups. Youā€™re not doomed, weight loss is possible, stay consistent. This lifestyle works and I will forever praise it. šŸ„³šŸ’œ

2024.05.22 02:50 Rich_Antelope7100 Lesser known facts about the OJ Simpson murder case

Denise Pilnak was a neighbor of Nicoleā€™s. Her telephone bill shows she was on the phone from 10:25 PM and 10:28 PM. Prior to making this phone call, she and her friend noted how quiet the neighborhood was. Several minutes later between 10:33 and 10:35 PM, she testified thatā€™s when she began to hear the sound of a barking dog, which is likely when the murders began. Allan Park testified to seeing OJ near the front door of the Rockingham estate at 10:55 PM, and his telephone records also document that. That leaves less than 25 minutes to commit the murders, drive back home, get rid of the evidence, etc.
Both Nicole and Ron had defensive wounds. Ron in particular was in hand to hand combat with whoever killed him, yet OJ had no injuries. The cut on his finger wasnā€™t seen by anyone who interacted with him at the airport, on the airplane ride to Chicago, nor when he immediately landed in Chicago. This includes people who got autographs from him, shook hands with him, and observed his hands. A broken glass was also found in his hotel room and it was documented he asked for a bandage at the hotel.
The FBI searched all of OJā€™s and Nicole's credit card records and there was never any receipt found belonging to either of them that showed a purchase of Bruno Magli shoes. Every store that sold the shoes in the country was also searched, and they couldn't find anyone who sold him the shoes. The only proof of him owning them are the National Enquirer photos, which show him wearing suede shoes on a very rainy day. It was also found that the shoe soles that were said to be OJ's footprint were actually more popular than the prosecution maintained, the manufacturer sold the pattern to numerous shoe lines.
1.5 millimeters of OJā€™s blood went missing from its vial. Thanos Peratis, the nurse who withdrew his blood, initially testified that he withdrew 8 millimeters. He took that back when only 6.5 appeared and the prosecution suggested he was mistaken. About a decade later he admitted to William Dear that he was certain he withdrew 8 millimeters because it was the amount he had drawn from patients all of his career, but he was close to retirement and had health problems so he didnā€™t want to cause any trouble.
The glove found at Bundy contained none of OJā€™s DNA. The other glove found at Rockingham only contained his DNA in the area where Collin Yamauchi testified to spilling OJ's reference blood sample while handling it.
An identical knit cap matching the knit cap found lying on the ground next to one of the gloves was found in Nicoleā€™s house. Those caps likely belonged to Sydney and Justin Simpson.
Two different people, John Meraz and William Blasini, encountered the Bronco at the lot where it had been impounded days after the murders. They both looked inside it for blood and testified they saw none. There was also only 1/8th of one drop of blood ever found inside it.
New York Times best selling author and journalist Stephen Singular was connected by an anonymous source within the LAPD about the case a few weeks after the murders. He was told Mark Fuhrman made an undocumented trip to Rockingham in the early morning hours after the murders looking for evidence that would incriminate OJ. Rosa Lopez, a housekeeper for OJā€™s next door neighbor, testified to hearing menā€™s voices coming from the yard of Rockingham in the early morning.
The source told Singular that Fuhrman used a broken piece of fence from Bundy to pick up one of the two gloves found and placed it in a blue plastic bag. Next, he was told Fuhrman removed the glove from the plastic bag and planted it at Rockingham. A broken piece of fence was eventually found at Bundy and a blue plastic bag was found at Rockingham, and both were introduced as evidence in the trial.
He was also told EDTA would be found in some of the blood evidence if tested, lab technicians had mishandled OJā€™s blood samples, vials of OJā€™s, Nicoleā€™s, and Ron's blood were in possession of an LAPD detective for several hours before being booked into evidence, and that Fuhrman had been acquainted with Nicole in some way.
Singular relayed this information from the source to the defense team and was in communication with them for awhile. Pretty much all of it checked out, including an investigation conducted by the LAPD's Internal Affairs Division which revealed that Fuhrman was overheard by other LAPD officers bragging about being intimate with Nicole and seeing her boob job before she was murdered.
There were 17 fingerprints lifted from the Bundy crime scene that didnā€™t belong to OJ or any of the police officers involved in the case.
Brett Cantor ran a nightclub called The Dragonfly where Ron worked for him as a waitepromoter. Nicole was also a regular at the club. He was murdered a year before them in almost exactly the same way, by being stabbed repeatedly in the upper body and being nearly decapitated. Judge Ito ruled the defense team could review his case. His murder remains unsolved.
Casimir Sucharski, a friend of OJ's, was murdered alongside two female companions in his house in Florida by people with machine guns two weeks after Ron and Nicole were murdered.
Michael Nigg was friends with Ron and also worked at the Mezzaluna restaurant. He was murdered a year later in 1995 by being shot in the head after refusing to give his money to two men outside an ATM. The men who shot him didn't end up taking his money. His murder remains unsolved.
Not saying these murders are necessarily related to each other but it does make you wonder since all of these people reportedly led similar lifestyles which involved the use of cocaine. Faye Resnick, a cocaine addict, was also living with Nicole just days before the murders.
If you listen to the full 1993 911 call, OJ was mostly yelling about drugs and hookers being in the house. When police officers responded to the call, Nicole told the responding officers that OJ hadnā€™t hit her in four years. After the 1989 domestic violence incident, OJ added an addendum to their prenuptial agreement which stated that if he struck Nicole again, she wouldā€˜ve been entitled to a settlement of more than 5 million dollars.
OJ wasn't scheduled to be in LA during that week. He had been busy working and made a last minute decision to come back for Sydney's recital. Video taken of him afterwards shows him in a good mood, kissing his kids and the Brownā€™s goodbye.
Christian Reichardt spoke with OJ on the phone an hour before the murders and testified his demeanor was jovial and not indicative of a simmering murderous rage.
His telephone records also show he made phone calls trying to set up dates with a few models, one of which he told he was unattached to anyone. If he was in a jealous rage over Nicole, why was he trying to date other women?
After the bodies were discovered, Sydney told the police she heard her mommy (Nicole) fighting & crying with her best friend (Faye Resnick) on the phone earlier that night.
Sydney was planning to have a sleepover that night with one of her friends. According to family and friends who attended the recital and dinner, OJ was aware of this. Committing a murder with all those extra witnesses and the possibility of having the kids hurt or things getting out of control, in addition to having a flight to catch, doesnā€™t make sense.

2024.05.22 02:49 FJeffGoldblumMan Swimming for weight loss

Newbie to lap swimming here. I just got a new gym membership and Iā€™ve really been enjoying the lap pool. Does anyone have any tips for using swimming as a weight loss tool? I know one can not lose weight by working out alone, itā€™s mostly diet and I have zoned in on my calorie intake. I use to run as my weight loss tool, and it worked well, however this time I have no interest in running for some reason and want to immerse myself into lap swimming. I have a kickboard and bouy at my gym. Considering buying some finger pads and a snorkel to do some drills. Thanks!

2024.05.22 02:49 haokahs Done with my Colonoscopy!

(19F) Hey everyone! Thank you for all the answers to my questions in previous posts, and the support. I am still a little loopy from being drugged up but hereā€™s how my whole process went! (kind of long)
Starting with the prep. I had to take Gavilyte-C, it was one of the most disgusting things I had ever drank. It may be good to you but for me..I just cannot handle it. When starting that prep on Monday I only finished a little less than half but I was able to have very frequent bowel movements which were all liquid/runny. The morning of my procedure I woke up at 7 AM to finish the rest. I knew I wasnā€™t going to be able to finish the rest of the Gavilyte so I said screw it, my stool was already clear enough, I could see through it and it looked like urine. I probably only drank 1 glass this morning and then chugged two waters down after that.
Getting to the doctors, everything went well. I got changed into the gown and got my IV put in. I did tell my anesthesiologist that I was pretty nervous as I did not want to feel anything. She ended up using Benadryl and something else and before I knew it I was out like a light. I donā€™t remember getting dressed just waking up on my dadā€™s car and falling back asleep.
Now to my ā€œresultsā€ They told me they found some small internal hemorrhoids, no polyps or visible inflammation was seen. They did however take some biopsies throughout my colon which I will have to wait about a week for results.
Itā€™s just a little crazy how all of my tiredness, the blood when passing a bowel movement, losing weight & loss of appetite is just the internal hemorrhoids. Itā€™s hard for me to believe thatā€™s all, with the amount of blood I would always see in my stool itā€™s just seems like so much for a small hemorrhoid?
Hopefully when I get my biopsy results back it tells me something else thatā€™s worth knowing for all the symptoms I would have. Anyways, thanks for listening to my story! Ask me questions if you like and Iā€™ll try my best to answer them!

2024.05.22 02:44 Dry-Quality1683 Second opinion for possible ectopic pregnancy. Am I at risk?

26F 140lbs 5ā€™7ā€ Current meds: citalopram 100mg
Birth control: tracking ovulation. We have not had an unplanned pregnancy in 6 years by just tracking my ovulation, I understand it might not be some peopleā€™s preferred method but Iā€™ve struggled with IUD, pill, & depo shot.
Okayā€¦ where do I start? Had a regular period on April 4th as expected. A month(ish) later (May 7th) I start spotting.. weird period but I ended up with heavy bleeding on May 8th for two days which is a short period for me. Theyā€™re usually 5 days long.
Fast forward to May 17th, I start bleeding and cramping pretty bad. Bright red blood. I freak out because I have ptsd from a previous pregnancy loss and head to the ER.
They did an HCG quant which Iā€™ll share below with dates and amounts and a transvaginal ultrasound.
They said it was too early in the pregnancy to see anything and to go back in two days to see the HCG levels (I went back in two days and levels are below)
MAY 17 levels are 680 MAY 19 levels are 602 MAY 20 levels are 570 MAY 21 levels are 625????
Wellā€¦ May 20th I start having this HORRIBLE pain on my lower back and it goes down my leg. I go to the ER and they repeat levels (listed above) and ultrasound.
Here are the findings:
Narrative PROCEDURE: US TRANSVAGINAL RULE OUT ECTOPIC PREGNANCY INDICATION: HCG drop <15%, significant pain COMPARISON: None TECHNIQUE: Transabdominal and transvaginal fetal sonographic evaluation was performed. FINDINGS: No sonographic evidence of intrauterine pregnancy at this time UTERUS: Dimension: 610.5 x 6.6 x 4.9 cm Subchorionic hemorrhage: None. Endometrium: 6 mm Fibroid/masses: None. Cervix: Unremarkable. RIGHT OVARY: Dimension: 2.9 x 1.8 x 1.9 cm *****Cyst/mass: There is a 1.7 x 1.4 x 1.9 cm heterogeneous complex structure adjacent to the right ovary with peripheral vascularity. Blood flow: Normal LEFT OVARY: Dimension: 2.0 x 1.4 x 1.7 cm Cyst/mass: None. Blood flow: Normal FREE FLUID IN THE PELVIS: None.
ALL OBs have a different opinion.. OB#1 wanted to take me to the OR and remove the tube where the fetus appears to be implanted OB#2 says weā€™re not sure if itā€™s a fetus or a cyst since itā€™s too early in the pregnancy and a cyst should not cause any problems OB#3 insists on Methotrexate even though Iā€™m breastfeeding and donā€™t want to risk a rupture.
So they ask me what I want to do. I said I wanted to go home and repeat labs in two days to see if levels drop. If they drop I just want to grief at home. If they go UP I want surgery asap to see whatā€™s going on.
Iā€™m confused and hate being in this situation. Just need someone with a similar experience to give some insight. Thank you

2024.05.22 02:42 TheTreeWithTheOwl Anyone with a previous history of depression/anxiety?

Hi everyone, basically I'm not sure whether I should start sema (Wegovy). I have a history of anxiety, panic disorder, and depression (I have been diagnosed with CPTSD and GAD). My anxiety and panic disorder has been greatly reduced due to years of therapy and I'm feel fairly comfortable in saying that I don't really deal with anxiety or panic anymore. As far as depression, I used to be on medication for it about 8 years ago for 2 years, but have since stopped and have felt fine.
My PCP prescribed me Wegovy a few months ago due to my BMI and my many years-long struggle to lose weight. Diets haven't worked, I have a back injury so exercise hasn't been super successful at weight-loss, and I do use food for a dopamine-hit (for 10+ years). Everything was finally approved and now it's up to me as to when I want to start taking it. However, I'm very nervous about this. It was notoriously difficult for me to find an antidepressant that worked well in the past. I guess I would've considered myself a super-responder to those medications because I had so many side effects fairly quickly into taking the medication (one of which had me hospitalized). After much trial and error, I wound up sticking with Mirtazapine at a very low dose and it was enough to fix my depression for years (though it caused other issues I hadn't noticed until 2 years after).
All of this to say, would it be a good idea to start Wegovy? Has anyone had a history of depression/anxiety/panic and now started taking semaglutide? What has your experience been like?
Edit: I apologize for my formatting and rambling.

2024.05.22 02:36 Firessport I have a crush on my friends girlfriend

2024.05.22 02:31 benjamin-crowell counterintuitive science about physical activity and energy expenditure

Based on some recent discussion in another thread, it seems like a lot of people haven't heard about the current scientific evidence regarding physical activity and energy expenditure. The results are highly counterintuitive, and also contrary to common cultural assumptions, so I think a lot of people react with disbelief. The best-known scientist working on this is Herman Pontzer.
popular-level article: https://www.science.org/content/article/scientist-busts-myths-about-how-humans-burn-calories-and-why
review article by Pontzer, 2018, Energy Constraint as a Novel Mechanism Linking Exercise and Health, https://journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/physiol.00027.2018?cookieSet=1
interview with Pontzer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04cP4jcDfB8
Although I normally prefer to get my information from written words rather than videos, the interview was actually really nice because it explored the science from the point of view of endurance athletes. If you don't want to listen to the whole thing, which is over an hour long, here are a few spots where they talked about running:
10:20 -- ultramarathoners; there has to be a limit to compensation
12:20 -- race across the USA, foot version of RAM
13:51 ... by the end of the race, their energy expenditure was 600 cal/day less than expected based on energy expenditure; so yes, there are limits to compensation, but this is a pretty high ceiling
17:57 -- compensation is delayed; weight-loss studies always just follow people for a short time; race across USA showed no compensation for first week
43:05 -- run 10 miles a day, 7 days a week; can your body compensate?; suppose max compensation is 600 kcal/day, running is 1000 kcal/day; then to maintain body weight, you'd have to eat an extra 400 kcal/day

2024.05.22 02:30 Thefunkbox Thank you, master players!

Thank you, master players!
Iā€™ve been playing this game for the better part of a year, I guess. Over that time Iā€™ve gotten my butt kicked regularly by some highly curated decks. Thanks to those players, I learned more of the intricacies of how cards work together. Last go round I made it into the 50s. This is my first time this high, and of course my first match was a loss. I love so much about this game. It was rocky for a bit and I had fallen out of love, but Iā€™m definitely back in.
I donā€™t know if Iā€™ll see level 70, but Iā€™m gonna give it my best shot!

2024.05.22 02:28 Remarkable_Paper5379 Metformin concerns

Iā€™ve been on Metformin for 7 months now and I was so excited once I started it because I was noticing positive changes like weight loss, less inflammation, more energy, less food cravings, etc. but this morning I can across a Tik Tok that was talking negatively about the medication. People were saying it caused their kidneys to fail, a heart arrhythmia, basically saying itā€™s not safe to be on and now Iā€™m concerned. I feel like if I get off Iā€™ll go right back to where I started which was overweight, inflamed especially in the face, and high blood sugar, feeling like crap but Iā€™m scared the long term effects of this meds. Anyone else think about this as well?

2024.05.22 02:21 jmilburn41 7 Months and 90lbs Later

It has been 7 months since I have balanced my diet, started seriously exercising and counting cals in and out. Quick recap became a stay at hone dad got to my heavyset in 2022. Decided in Jan of 23 to cut out 95% of my fast food intake. Lost 10lbs. Got sick in Oct of 23 with sinus infection blood pressure super high. Had come to Jesus talk with doctor.
Then I got a Fitbit, started working out and Cal in and out tracking and now I am 90 lbs down from where I was in Oct 23 and 100lbs from where I was in Jan 23 (405lbs). I still can bring myself to take photos of my self but my wife says she sees a big difference. I feel so much better. My back and shoulders are not killing me. I can walk the butte in town 5 times in a row without stopping (half mile up and down with 160ft elevation gain). Were as one time up and down I would have been done for the day. Getting up and down on the floor to play with the kids is so much easier.
I still have 5lbs before my first goal but this will be my last solo post about my weight loss. I feel like I got this now I lost almost a quarter of what I once was and look forward to the next Goal what ever it may be. May be I will shoot for 200lbs? But I feel Like taking a maintenance break for a fee months.
TLDR: I LOST 100LBS SINCE JAN OF 2023!

2024.05.22 02:20 bored_Einstein Weight struggles

Hey everyone, this is my first and probably my only post Iā€™ll be making on Reddit. Iā€™ve been struggling with my weight for quite a while now and Iā€™ve tried everything, from intermittent fasting (gained more weight despite the fact that I was eating only one healthy meal a day for weeks) to going to they gym, so I am now on a diet and home work out routine (Iā€™m really struggling to stay consistent). This whole weight issue is starting to get to me and I really just want to change my life in a positive way. I just need encouragement and motivation that I can do this because Iā€™m starting to feel some type of way about it and itā€™s getting to me tbh especially because it seems even with the changes Iā€™m making Iā€™m not seeing the results. I could really use encouragement and motivation, and also suggestions of what I can do to help me on this weight loss journey, something that is actually effective. Iā€™d really appreciate it, thank you.

2024.05.22 02:20 CyanideLovesong Speculations on Klaus Schwab 'stepping back from executive role'

Klaus Schwab is 'stepping back from his executive role' in the WEF ( https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/21/world-economic-forum-davos-founder-klaus-schwab-to-step-back-from-executive-role.html )
He was used at the end of his position in a very strange way. All those terrible quotes and seeing him looking like an evil Darth Vader type... that was really strange.
I never could figure out how making WEF seem so villainous served their goals...
Now it's obvious they knew he could be used that way since he would be out before long anyway. But what was the point of it?
I've always speculated that the complete and total absurdity associated with everything related to "Covid" and the push for the vaccines was so they would target a very specific demographic:
Sorry, no one wants to hear that but if you think about it --- that was their target demographic. To anyone thinking and/or paying attention, they made it ridiculously obvious that those shots were a bad idea.
Here were some clues:
  1. Widespread censorship of citizen thoughts and opinions
  2. Widespread censorship (and worse) for people in the science/medical community
  3. Constant assertion of easily disprovable lies
  4. Insane & bizarre measures to coerce people
  5. Economic things that made no sense
  6. Sending sick people as young as 20 into nursing homes even though the hospitals had already been emptied (and then censoring anyone who showed others that the hospitals were empty)
  7. Blatantly exaggerating risk in obvious ways (testing only sick people in order to claim a high IFR)
  8. Pushing the PCR test to a whopping 45+ cycles (a test that will detect anything with a high enough cycle threshold)
  9. Making sure we knew that the people on the inside weren't following their own orders (elite/politicians had large unmasked parties, non-stop footage of authorities not wearing masks but pulling them up for the camera and off right after, etc., newscasters peddling fear vacationing maskless around crowded pools in Florida and other places that reopened or never shut down) etc.
  10. Pushing unhealthy lifestyles, division, and hate during a time we were supposedly in "the worst pandemic of our lives"
  11. Using expected deaths to trick people into thinking the death count was unexpectedly high. (~80 years ago began a massive global ~25 year baby boom. You can't have a baby boom without a death boom later on -- it's simple math. Anyone that explained this was shamed, censored, and banned.)
  12. Intentionally death protocols -- separating people from their families and then administrating medications that killed them
  13. Blocking treatments that appeared to work
  14. Encouraging people to go out in the streets and protest in crowds while simultaneously shaming others for stepping outdoors
  15. Arresting people for harmless activities, like walking their dog, being alone at a beach, or fishing at a pond, etc.
  16. Lying about the shots being "approved" when they never were, and when called on it they said, "Well the approved shots are the same as what's being given to people so that's good enough!" Without telling them that they would be excluded from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program(!) ... And for the few who bothered to look it up, they claimed there was a "Countermeasures Program" to
  17. Bold, blatant lies, coverups, and censorship with regard to vaccine side efficacy, adverse events, and death.
I could go on and on... But if you were offended by my prior list, look through those 17 examples and just try to tell me the first list is wrong.
It's not. This is the sad truth no matter how upset it makes anyone. It is what it is, and we were all attacked from within by our own governments...
And there's something critical about the way Klaus Schwab intentionally played the part of a cartoon evil villain. They didn't cast him that way and dress him up like a Space Invader for nothing. That played a role in this psychological operation -- it's just hard to tell precisely what.
For those of us who pay attention, it will likely become clear later -- as most people (from the first list) are caught up in the next Current Thing. Those who haven't yet succumbed to the long term effects of what was done to them. One of the most profitable mass poisonings in history.
(You may have noticed Pfizer & Moderna heavily investing in treatments for cancer and heart problems. This is no coincidence.)
PS. For the coincidence theorists out there -- don't forget that in the court of law people are convicted based on 'coincidences' and 'circumstantial evidence' all the time. Here in California juries are ordered to treat circumstantial evidence on the same level as direct evidence. When a series of coincidences add up to form a pattern -- they aren't coincidences anymore. And we're WAY past that point now.
But will they ever be held accountable? No, the naive & weak who allowed (and even encouraged) them to do this would rather stand in their defense than to admit they were wrong and hold them accountable. And that is probably why they were targeted in the first place. "Useless eaters" as Klaus Schwab's right hand man called him. (Their words, not mine.)
