I have a ton of old watches from my Grandpa and have no clue what they are worth and which are worth keeping in the family and which are worth giving away or selling. I have 18 watches in front of me making this an even bigger challenge- I no nothing about watches! I looked some of them up and a few seem to be worth money as long as they are serviced. The brands I can see are Bulova, Waltham, Le Coultre, Gigantic, Eko, Elgin,Pulsar, Timex, sharp, Philip Persio, and Peugeot any help goes a long way thank you! submitted by JerrySmith0 to Watches [link] [comments] |

AngryCentaurGaming - Jeremy Penter | Wait for Sale | Wait For Sale | This is a 'Wait for Sale'. I liked a lot of this game, a ton of it, but the repetitive just overall look as well as the way, even though the enemies were very fun to fight, the fact that it was the same-y feeling of fighting those enemies over a long period of time just the way the game was designed, sort of hit and miss for me. | PS4, XB1, PC |
Eurogamer - Johnny Chiodini | Unscored | Unscored | A solid Soulslike that stops a few steps short of greatness. | PS4 |
GameSpace - William Murphy | 91 | 9.1 / 10 | When combined with the crafting, gear, and intrigue of the story, The Surge comes into its own as not “just another Souls-like”. This is a great Action RPG and one of the best of the year so far in an already crowded 2017. If you like difficult Action RPGs, The Surge is your next addiction. | PC |
Hey Poor Player - Francis DiPersio | 90 | 4.5 / 5 | If you’ve fought your way through Nioh and are looking for yet another quality action-RPG to deliver that Souls fix, look no further. The Surge is a finely-tuned machine that fans of the genre won’t want to miss. | PS4 |
GamingTrend - Travis Northup | 90 | 90 / 100 | The Surge is the most badass game I've played all year, and a must-play title for any masochistic gamer who enjoys getting their ass handed to them regularly. Although the presentation and enemy variety are somewhat lacking, and technical issues occur occasionally, none of these issues come even close to putting a hamper on this thoroughly enjoyable experience. Play. This. Game. | XB1 |
Thumb Culture - Steve Smith | 90 | 9 / 10 | The Surge then is a surprisingly good Sci-Fi action RPG and is worth a look if you are a fan of the genre. The difficulty is sure to put a lot of people off, as was the case with Lords of the Fallen. The system of dismembering enemies to acquire new gear is a revolutionary addition to the action RPG genre and one that I hope is used in future games. | PS4 |
The Outerhaven Productions - Keith Mitchell | 90 | 4.5 / 5 stars | After putting in over 40+ hours into The Surge, I'm happy to admit that this game was a pleasant surprise. I fully expected this to be a failed attempt to capitalize on the Soulsborne series, like some many others. Instead, I played a game with an interesting story, tons of hidden content, a cast crafting system and more than enough combat to keep me swinging away. Deck 13 Interactive should be applauded for what they've managed to pull off and more importantly, it will help to remove the blemish that is Lords of the Fallen. | PC |
SelectButton - Kevin Mitchell | 90 | 9 / 10 | The Surge is without a doubt one of the best Souls-like titles to be released. Decker 13 has certainly proven that they have listened to the feedback from their previous game, and has crafted an epic sci-fi action RPG. While boss encounters are vastly unique, the journey to their location is the highlight in The Surge. Even so, The Surge still puts up quite a challenge, but rewards players that equip gear and implants that match their play style. | PS4 |
PSX Brasil - Matheus Ricardo, Uihara Zingarelli - Portuguese | 90 | 90 / 100 | The Surge is a great game with high difficulty that should be on the radar for players who like real challenges and a sci-fi theme. | PS4 |
GameGrin - Blake Hawthorn | 85 | 8.5 / 10 | The Surge may be inspired by games like Bloodborne or Dark Souls, but it doesn't rely too much on their mechanics and it is truly greater for it. It shows that the title can stand on its own two feet, and I can see it becoming a truly successful franchise that could potentially fill the ever-devouring hole that Dark Souls has left in most of us. Or for those of you who haven't played any games like this and are looking to pick this up, this game is for you too. The combat feels and plays great, and the change in setting is what the genre really needed. | XB1 |
GameZone - Daniel R. Miller | 85 | 8.5 / 10 | While it may not be entirely original, its fresh setting, smart level design, and limb-targeting mechanics manage to make authentically new ideas in a genre growing with imitators. | PC |
TechRaptor - Andrew Otton | 85 | 8.5 / 10 | The Surge has great gameplay and wonderful levels to get lost in as you run around throwing limbs about and destroying robots. | PC |
Sirus Gaming - Rachelle Marie Tan | 85 | 8.5 / 10 | I would also say that mecha or sci-fi fans will love this game as much as I do for even at the first couple of hours of game time — I had already immersed with the game. It was hard for me to let go of my controller, the action was getting to me and it set my carnage on rampage. | PS4 |
Attack of the Fanboy - William Schwartz | 80 | 4 / 5 stars | The Surge's unique spin on combat and customization coupled with some tried and true gameplay mechanics from the Souls series coalesce nicely for what feels like a familiar experience in an entirely new setting. | XB1 |
TheXboxHub - Paul Renshaw | 80 | 4 / 5 stars | The Surge is a game that can be mentioned in the same breath as Dark Souls, something which is high praise indeed. | XB1 |
Xbox Achievements - Richard Walker | 80 | 80% | Every bit as infuriating, enjoyable and insanely gratifying as an action RPG of this type should be, The Surge is great fun, thanks in no small part to its unique limb-cutting loot system and some tight combat mechanics. | XB1 |
Polygon - Philip Kollar | 80 | 8 / 10 | The Surge successfully builds on its inspirations and finds its own voice | PC |
TrustedReviews - Stuart Andrews | 80 | 4 / 5 stars | Like Lords of the Fallen, The Surge is another rock-solid souls-a-like, losing a little of its predecessor's strong storytelling and atmosphere, but gaining from the change from fantasy to sci-fi and the ingenious mech smashing and harvesting upgrade system. It's not quite on the same level as the Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne or Nioh, but that's more down to the lore and art style than the brilliant gameplay. If you like the sound of a gritty dystopian take on Dark Souls, The Surge is an easy game to recommend. | PS4 |
Skill Up - Skill Up | 80 | 8 / 10 | As I look back at the Surge in its entirety, I'm actually feeling not disappointed, but rather optimistic. The Surge is a game that I think has made meaningful contributions to the Souls-like genre. I think its combat is excellent and in particular its body-targeting system is extremely intelligent and highly functional. I think its industrial setting is brilliant and the third boss design is the perfect example of how to use this theme in a really interesting way. I see the core of a really strong, really capable Souls-like franchise here, but it isn't there yet. The story does not engage and there just isn't enough creative license taken with the industrial setting to set one area apart from the other. Crucially, the difficulty framework is just reaching for challenge in all the wrong places and forces the player into negative play patterns without rewarding them with memorable well-constructed boss battles to punctuate the adventure. The result is a game that I enjoyed as a Souls-like fan and as a fan of the setting, but not one that I can honestly recommend to a lot of players, especially those that are new to the Souls genre. I think that this just isn't showing the best that the genre has to offer, but I really believe that it could in the future. | PC |
DualShockers - Tomas Franzese | 80 | 8 / 10 | If this genre of games inspired by the Souls series is going to continue, it is important that future titles in it can build upon what has already been established and try to do something new with it. That is why I am so happy The Surge is able to do so. Even if it falters in a few areas, the game's limb targeting and Core Power mechanics coupled with its unique world create a fun experience that even people like me, who aren't mega-fans of the Souls series, can enjoy. | PS4 |
TheSixthAxis - Dave Irwin | 80 | 8 / 10 | Bugs and a weak narrative aside, The Surge is a much more confident take on the emerging Soul-like gameplay style. It takes the known tropes of being challenging and having progression dependent on learning attack patterns while adjusting your play style to accommodate, but it also has some fresh ideas that not only make perfect sense, but could shape future games. It's nice to see a developer give a gameplay style a second shot and Deck13 have almost nailed it here. | PS4 |
GameSkinny - Ty Arthur | 80 | 8 / 10 stars | Between severing body parts for upgrades and makeshift hydraulic weapons, The Surge offers a satisfying (if grindy) take on extremely difficult action RPGs. | PC |
Gaming Nexus - Patrick Aloia | 80 | 8 / 10 | The Surge isn't interested in creating variation in its gameplay mechanics, or exploring more diverse settings or ideas, or creating compelling characters. It washes over you, but it's a refined wash, and the foundation for a great game to come. The Surge is a good thing, and I'm glad it exists as another answer to the Souls-esque games coming out – its dull, but refined sci-fi action makes the game feel like a first step, if only a step, in the right direction. | PC |
True Achievements - Kevin Tavore | 80 | 4 / 5 stars | The Surge is a game that is worth your time and there's a lot to love. The setting is perfect and matches the tone of the game and its story very well. That story is hidden behind optional content but it's worthwhile if you give it the attention it deserves. Combat feels awesome with five different weapon types that all play differently and enemy designs that make each opponent fair but very dangerous. The Surge's focus on making each enemy a threat works quite well, although it's hard to say if it's better or worse than something like Dark Souls. One downside is minimal RPG elements that only give an illusion of depth when the stat changes are too minimal to affect how you play. The other is a lack of enemy variety, including the bosses that were the highlight of the game. If you're looking for a game like Dark Souls, you should absolutely buy this immediately. It may not convert those who didn't already love that style of gameplay, but it's giving more of that style of content with its own unique twists that make it a worthy entry in the genre.
GearNuke - Muhammad Ali Bari | 80 | 8 / 10 | The Surge is a pure adrenaline fueled action RPG that doesn't take a moment to rest and keeps the player engaged throughout their journey. It is packed with a deep experience and customization system but unfortunately lacks in enemy and environment variety that stops it from reaching the height of the Dark Souls series. | PS4 |
IGN - Jon Ryan | 79 | 7.9 / 10 | The Surge makes good use of its detailed sci-fi setting and provides an engaging experience throughout the 30 to 40-hour campaign, mostly thanks to its widely customizable inventory and wickedly fun combat system. It may struggle to keep the action moving and tell a strong story amid the chaos of battle, and its weapon progression plateaued early, but it offers some interesting ideas and delivers a solid new take on a familiar genre. | PS4, XB1, PC |
New Game Network - David Will | 78 | 78 / 100 | The Surge is a remarkably solid action-RPG that uses its premise to wedge a number of interesting design quirks into a familiar formula. Not terribly deep, but a wrench-swinging, robot-pulverizing good time nonetheless. | PC |
Atomix - Emilio Reyes - Spanish | 78 | 7.8 / 10 | The Surge is a very good surprise because it is more than just a futuristic Dark Souls clon, it's a challenging and fun action RPG with interesting variations on its combat system and a satisfying campaign. | PS4 |
Stevivor Steve Wright | 75 | 7.5 / 10 | All up, The Surge does a wonderful job of presenting a Bloodborne-style game in an entirely new sci-fi setting. It’s not an RPG in the sense of Mass Effect, though, so buyer beware – you need a love of sadistic gameplay to get the most out of Deck13’s latest. | XB1 |
Fenix Bazaar - Gaetano Prestia | 75 | 7.5 / 10 | The Surge wants to be hated and loved at the same time, and that ultimately makes it a difficult game to recommend. Unless you’re after a punishing experience that demands a very specific approach to combat, progression and customisation, you’re better off sticking to more approachable games. That’s not to say it’s a bad game: The Surge is ambitious enough to warrant a sneaky look. If you’re looking for the brutality of a Dark Souls in a sci-fi setting, then The Surge is probably up your alley. | XB1 |
SpazioGames - Matteo Bussani | 75 | 7.5 / 10 | A good Souls-like with an entertaining battle system, interesting crafting elements, but no original soul. | PC |
COGconnected - Nicholas Plouffe | 75 | 7.5 / 10 | If you enjoy action RPGs and don’t mind butting heads with enemies or bosses that will kill you in a couple hits, then check out The Surge. The few problems with it are certainly present, but they can be overcome through patience and perseverance. Just don’t underestimate the security forces, those guys are no joke. | PS4 |
Entertainment Buddha - Matt Heywood | 75 | 75 / 100 | The Surge is brutal, but in a good way, if you're a fan of the Souls formula for kicking your ass but making you enjoy it, then you will more than likely enjoy Deck13's sci-fi spin on it. | XB1 |
Nexus - Andrew Logue | 75 | 7.5 / 10 | Fast-paced combat, limb-specific attacks, easy to understand crafting, and flexible levelling is what sets The Surge apart from its peers and, at times, puts it ahead of the Souls series. The bulk of the gameplay, and indeed much of the narrative pacing, is lifted straight from Lords of the Fallen and should be familiar to fans of the genre. | XB1 |
Slant Magazine - Jed Pressgrove | 70 | 3.5 / 5 stars | In our present-day world, its prediction of a violent worker-versus-worker future feels hauntingly plausible. | PS4 |
CGMagazine - Elias Blondeau | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is an admirable riff on the Souls formula, with its novel setting and new mechanics making its mechanical and narrative blemishes easier to swallow.
USGamer - John Learned | 70 | 3.5 / 5 stars | The Surge gives a lousy first impression with it bland sci-fi setting and grab bag of obvious influences. Given time, though, there's an unrefined gem in here for those willing to put up with its quirks. If this is Deck 13's next step to building something truly great, it's solid, if flawed one. | PS4 |
God is a Geek - Gary Bailey | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge offers an interesting world to explore, and a few new tricks that set it apart from the competition, but often falls short of its inspiration due to wonky combat and uninspired enemy designs. | PS4 |
We Got This Covered - Dylan Chaundy | 70 | 3.5 / 5 stars | It may seem reductive calling The Surge a sci-fi Dark Souls clone, but the truth is, it doesn't really try to be much more than that. | PS4 |
Push Start - Steven Impson | 70 | 7 / 10 | Though it might not be particularly remarkable or memorable as a whole, the science fiction future setting is a nice departure from the dark fantasy that pervades hardcore action RPGs, and there are some new ideas in combat and advancement that differentiate The Surge from its peers. | PS4 |
Game Informer - Andrew Reiner | 70 | 7 / 10 | A promising entry into the budding “Souls” genre that delivers excellent combat and far too much repetition in the enemies and environments | PS4 |
Metro GameCentral - GameCentral | 70 | 7 / 10 | An even better Dark Souls clone than Lords Of The Fallen, but there are too few unique ideas and the difficulty often undermines the rest of the gameplay. | PS4 |
Cubed3 - Albert Lichi | 70 | 7 / 10 | Unlike Deck13's predecessor, The Surge has personality of its own and introduces lots of new tricks, even if a couple of them are pointless. At its worst, the environments are samey, and the lack of variety of enemies are real noticeable flaws in what could have been a cult classic. The shockingly few boss fights are also a disappointment; since robots and cyborgs are so limitless in possibility for design, it is almost heart-breaking that The Surge is so restrained with what it does have. In spite of its shortcomings, this does come recommended from a user who has been intimate with these kinds of games since Demon's Souls. It gets a lot of things right, and does stand out, thanks to its atmosphere, lack of hand holding and, of course, the brutal action. | PS4 |
Critical Hit - Umar Bastra | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is a flawed but ultimately enjoyable action RPG. While it can be incredibly frustrating at times, the fantastic combat and body part targeting system does enough to overshadow the bad parts. | PS4 |
IGN Spain - José L. Ortega - Spanish | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is a rather unfair experience. It tries to be a difficult product but ends up lying in flagrant errors. | PS4 |
GamingBolt - Alex Jackson | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is great, and I say that with only a single qualifier - It's standing in a genre built by games that did more than great. Which isn't exactly fair to hold against this game, but if you've ended the age of fire, woke from the nightmare and torn through Japan, The Surge is going to scratch, if not satisfy that itch. | PC |
GameSpot - Daniel Starkey | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is an entertaining twist on the Dark Souls formula that strikes a tenuous balance between iteration and invention. | PC |
AusGamers - Kosta Andreadis | 70 | 7 / 10 | It’s safe to say that The Surge completely focuses on providing a souls-like experience from beginning to end, offering up deep combat mechanics with interesting and large-scale boss battles. The story, although engaging to a point, takes a back seat to this singular goal. It’s not without its flaws, and its appeal will primarily be limited to those looking so this one type of experience. But The Surge feels like a success, and one that we’ll probably end up dying several hundred more times in. | XB1 |
3DNews - Денис Щенников - Russian | 70 | 7 / 10 | The Surge is all about tough fights. Battles are the main reason why you should try it, and maybe beat it to the end. But sometimes game becomes ridiculously hard just for the sake of being ridiculously hard, which is more annoying than fun.
GameWatcher - Chris Capel | 65 | 6.5 / 10 | Like Deck13's previous game Lords of the Fallen, The Surge is defiantly inspired by the Dark Souls series and wears its influence on its sleeve. It gets the general formula right, especially regarding difficulty and combat, and then it adds new ideas to make things feel fresh. The futuristic sci-fi world is a welcome change from dark fantasy, and the limb-targeting function makes combat more exciting, more visceral, and allows access to better gear. Clever. | PC |
GamePlanet - Leo-Rae Brown | 60 | 6 / 10 | The Surge is occasionally electrifying, but combat issues and cheap enemies dampen enjoyment levels. | PS4 |
Digitally Downloaded - Matt Sainsbury | 60 | 3 / 5 stars | For all its mechanical competency, The Surge feels as mechanical as its enemies through most of the experience. No where near enough was done with the science fiction theme, and after catching my attention with an intriguing set up, the game then lost me with a generally dull plot that it was never quite able to claw back. | PS4 |
PlayStation Universe - Garri Bagdasarov | 60 | 6 / 10 | The Surge started off great. The combat was fun, the story seemed interesting, and the crafting was enjoyable that is until I got a dozen or so hours into it where everything went from being doable to insanely hard, grindy, and uninspiring. | PS4 |
PC Gamer - Jody Macgregor | 60 | 60 / 100 | The Surge isn't the same as Dark Souls but comparison's inevitable. Like that cyborg whose torso I severed, it struggles to stand on its own. | PC |
Pardis Game - Sanaz Rezaee - Persian | 60 | 6 / 10 | "The Surge" is basically "Lords of the Fallen" with a different sci fi look. It's got a nice rpg system and environmenta with depth and high playability. But its biggest problem is that it's just a copy cat of eveything Souls did, and not a good one. It's impossibly hard and the combat is not to the high standard of Souls. So across the many great games released this year, I don't recommend "The Surge" unless you enjoyed "Lords of the Fallen" and the experience it brought. | XB1 |
Gamerheadquarters - Jason Stettner | 55 | 5.5 / 10 | The Surge is a Dark Souls like game that features difficult and cumbersome gameplay while presenting an interesting potential story. | XB1 |
Push Square - Liam Croft | 50 | 5 / 10 | The Surge had potential, but its excellent combat systems are baked into a game that can't do them justice. The repetitive and drab environments are a huge hindrance, and when combined with a confusing network of corridors, hallways, and ledges, it's easy to become frustrated, misled, and lost. You may find some fun experimenting with your attack options and the smooth framerate on the PS4 Pro does help to make that a better experience, but expecting anything more than that will only set yourself up for disappointment. | PS4 |
PC Invasion - Tim McDonald | 50 | 5 / 10 | The Surge has a lot of nice ideas, but most of them are stomped on by conflicting with the game design. Not a bad Souls-like, but not one that's particularly easy to recommend either. | PC |
iDigitalTimes - Scott Craft | 40 | 2 / 5 stars | There will be some who enjoy The Surge. Sadly, I was not one of them. |
