2024.05.21 10:51 abigailwatson83 [TOMT] Looking for a lost notification sound on my Google Pixel 7

A few weeks ago, as I was frantically rushing to clear space on my phone (needed to film something and there was literally no time to spare), I deleted a bunch of sounds in my Pixel 7's file viewer (just the Files app). I believe one of the sounds deleted was the one I used for Twitter DMs... and I didn't realize I'd done it until I got a DM on Twitter just tonight, and there was no sound - so I went looking through the Pixel 7's notification sound library, only to find the one I'd selected was no longer there, with its name replaced by '1000001798' - which didn't yield any helpful results. The sound was similar to the 'Duet' sound in the 'Pixel Sounds' folder, except it was pitched much differently - does anybody know which sound I'm talking about and what it was called, so that I can find a new copy? I swear I'm not crazy. Using a Pixel 7 bought through Verizon, but cannot seem to find the sound I'm looking for anywhere online. The latter part of the sound played a high "D" note.

Possible fraud or phishing scam?
Got an email a few days ago welcoming me to Visible by Verizon and another one shortly after saying my default payment has changed but I’ve never even heard of this service until now. I’m concerned that someone either might be using my email as a recovery email or possibly a phishing scam, curious if anyone knows anything about this.

2024.05.21 06:27 Thick-Significance-3 Best android equivalent to iPhone 13 Pro Max?

I’ve had the iphone 13 pro max since my high school graduation in 2022. I previously had a Verizon model that had no issues, then I had a AT&T model that has nothing but issues. The phone is usable, but it has screen touch issues. I deal with a ton of accidental touches & touches not responding. I used to have a Galaxy note 8 that I loved. My phone also has focus issues with the camera. I’ve tried every troubleshooting method and nothing has changed. I even resetted my phone twice. I didn’t get the amazing battery life that everyone else claimed they had I was pretty disappointed. I really wanted this phone and thought it was going to be great but I was disappointed by the amount of issues I was having with this phone(AT&T model). Any android phone equivalent that has a camera and battery just as good or even better then the 13 pro max?

2024.05.21 05:48 Tenalii Question regarding the unauthorized transfer of a number

Today I received a strange message from Verizon that said: “Verizon Msg: No action is required. This is just a courtesy to let you know line ending in #### is in the process of being transferred to a new carrier. If you did not authorize this transfer call ##########.”
I immediately called the customer service number because I did not authorize any transfer of my phone number. The representative looked into it for me and determined that a request was made, but was not able to go through because the person did not have the PIN. But somehow they learned my phone number and the account number.
I am not very surprised that they knew my number, but the account number? How in the world did they find that?
My dad is actually the account holder. My mom, dad, sister, and I are all on the account. So he immediately changed the PIN and the password. We plan on going to the Verizon store tomorrow to see if there’s anything else we need to do.
My biggest question is, does anyone know if you can change the account number? Now that someone has it, it would probably be best to change it right?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

2024.05.21 05:39 parker2535 In search of a good temporary solution for remote work

I am planning to live in a rural area for ~6 months that currently has no regular home internet options (that I can find) but work remote. The area has great LTE/4G cellular reception for Verizon (my current carrier) but not so great for att or t-mobile from the research I’ve done. I am hoping to go with one of the below but am open to suggestions. Due to short span of time at this location I am not looking into Starlink. My main concern is stable speed that won’t cut out or reboot every couple hours. I’ve used my phones hotspot at this location before but need a dedicated device. Budget is ~$300 for the device and $40-70 per month for internet depending on service.
  1. Verizon Inseego Mifi Pro 5g UW or Orbic Speed 5G UW with 100gb prepaid monthly plan. I’ve had a MIFI from Verizon before, granted many years ago (4-5), and was not happy with it, have they gotten significantly better?
  2. Netgear Nighthawk LAX20 AX1800 Wireless Dual-Band 4G LTE Gigabit Router or GL-X750V2 from GLiNet with 100gb prepaid monthly Verizon plan. Not sure how compatible the GL-X750 is with Verizon, I’ve read conflicting things with some people mentioning issues, a lot of people also mention issues with Netgear in general)
  3. Any suggestions compatible with Verizon?

2024.05.21 05:26 Ed-C Phone showing Verizon and AT&T

This doesn't seem to have any effect on my phone, an S23 FE, but on the top left, where it sometimes says Mint, it's now showing AT&T or Verizon on occasion. It seems odd, unless we are now getting roaming, since the T-mobile buyout. Any ideas?

2024.05.21 05:16 cinephileindia2023 I migrated to eSIM on my S24 Ultra and I don't get network for calls and texts

I downloaded the APN Install apk and installed the APN. Then I also installed the My Tech app to enable Verizon CBS APN as well. Restarted multiple time but the phone is stuck on searching for network. It shows 5G and 2 bars though. I did also reset mobile network settings and Wifi and Bluetooth settings and restarted the phone. Yet nothing.
I left the physical SIM in the phone itself, FWIW.
UPDATE: I removed the old SIM and it's fine now. Case closed.

2024.05.21 04:35 AnimeKing90 How far back can digital forensics get call logs and text messages? I need as far back as 6-7 years for legal purposes I deleted information out of my phone.

It’s not the same phone I’ve had a ton of upgrades since then does Verizon keep records that long?

2024.05.21 04:02 BottomSubstance Safelink Repeatedly Deactivates Phone Service

Hey guys, a family member of mine is having issues with Safelink that I want to document just in case someone else down the line has similar troubles.
For its relevance, they were using Safelink for years, at least as far back as 2014 or 2012. This was one of the little Obamaphones that was not a smartphone. It had airtime on it and was used up until 2022 when they phased service on such phones out. I helped them receive a free smartphone instead, and it worked just fine once we got everything transferred.
At some point Safelink took it upon itself to cancel this service, likely because another provider was using the Lifeline benefits. We were not aware of the particular workings of this sphere of things, so it was unavoidable. This happened in 2022. For that time until this month the safelink smartphone they received went unused.
However we cancelled that plan with the other service provider recently, and that is another story entirely. I can explain it in detail for relevance, but for brevity's sake the other service was cancelled and we returned to Safelink. They were a steady and reliable service for years.
I made sure my family member still qualified for Lifeline, which they do. A new sim card was needed, so we bought one and swapped the old one out. At which point we activated it and got a new phone number, and restarted the service.
So where is the trouble here?
Well, that would be that the service has been deactivated four times now.
After a couple of days, every time without fail so far, upon trying to make a call there will be a message saying that either the phone service has been deactivated, or it will oddly route us to StraightTalk. The SIM status reads as disconnected, but the service state is still in service and the IMS is registered. Two of these instances claimed that the airtime, minutes, what have you, had been exhausted, which is patently false as the phone couldn't have been used that much in the time it was activated.
So, four times now, I've struggled to call Safelink, and I say struggled because it's quite the headache getting the right number to call Safelink, to get this settled. And four times the problem has repeated. I have had the account notated with these problems and the most recent time I was told the issue at hand was that my family member's Lifeline application ID was incorrectly appended to the Safelink account, causing the disconnection and assumption that it would be necessary to buy more minutes for the phone.
Specifically I was told that my family member no longer qualified for Lifeline, which was provably incorrect, at which point it was found that the application ID had not been entered correctly.
I was told that the problem was fixed and it wouldn't happen again, and yet here we are.
In short, Safelink, before its acquisition by Verizon at least, had been a reliable service for many years for my family, airtime phones notwithstanding. However now in the space of a month the service has been disconnected four times without cause or resolution despite my best efforts to reinstate it, and correcting the seemingly primary reason, an incorrectly applied Lifeline Benefits ID, is still not solving this issue. My family member is still qualified for Lifeline, the application is still active. The SIM card is new. Safelink just refuses to supply the service.
If I manage to find a way to correct this issue, I'll make sure to update this post. If anyone else has had this issue or knows how to solve it, please tell me. I have implicitly mentioned this issue to the representatives I have spokemn with and while they were kind and seemed to understand, their efforts have not helped thus far, even with a standing notation on the account (if such a thing actually exists, I don't really know).
Edit: Furthermore, attempting to find my family member's service on the Safelink Wireless website by providing the phone number and other info, it says enrollment not found. However, fortunately I have the enrollment number for the phone, which shows that the phone is still active and approved. It even shows the old phone number from over a decade ago now.
The new phone that I just set up last month cannot be found by entering its phone number alone on the website. Absolute headache.
Edit 2: After a late night attempt to chat over the internet failed and told me to contact the enrollment department, who then routed me to the lifeline department, I was able to once again get the service for my phone reinstated. For how long I don't know, but I was told that the enrollment ID (for the phone or for Lifeline, I am unsure) was not the right one for the account. That has since been, apparently, corrected. As well, several checks were made as to the status of service in my area, the compatibility of the phone with the service, and the current status of my family member's Lifeline benefits (which are still, of course, active).
So once again I've gotten service back on the phone. Let's hope this will be lucky number five.

2024.05.21 03:16 mjkreznor Question regarding business phone

So I’m looking at starting up an LLC here in the next few weeks and I’ve been doing a lot of research on some affordable phone plans to use. I’ll be working in the service industry and it’ll only be me. It’s kind of a side hustle for now until I build up the company enough for me to leave my current job. Right now, it seems the best deal for me is to go through Verizon because they’re offering a second phone number to my current phone for only $10 a month plus some fees which brings it to about $15 a month. I really just need basic phone service, calling and texting.
With that said, that’s my personal phone account and I’m worried about mixing personal accounts with business accounts. Should I get a phone line in just the LLCs name or is adding the phone number to my current phone plan an OK thing to do?
Thanks for the help.

2024.05.21 03:12 SensitiveShallot967 How to restore my backed up file (Google Drive/Google One)

So basically my Bluetooth wasn't connecting at all to my Pixel 7a and I was talking to a lady about it at Verizon. The final solution she gave me was to basically factory reset my phone and have me back it up. I did this through Back up by Google One. I did that and admittedly while the phone was powering up I had an older phone on the side ready to transfer. I could only do it wirelessly but was worried it would take too long so I canceled it and skipped that. I figured I'd get an option to go back but I don't know how. My phone says it has the backup file but I don't know how to restore it.
What do I do?

2024.05.21 02:29 EvilDarkCow Cell phone carriers - What would Caleb do?

I like to say that watching Caleb's videos has helped me start really saving money. I've cut down on eating out, cut down on the taquito runs, canceled subscriptions, and reduced my credit card usage. I've managed to significantly reduce my monthly expenses while also giving my credit a good bump. I've actually put money in savings for the first time in years. And next payday, I'll make my last car payment and officially become debt free.
One bill that I'm looking to reduce is my phone bill. I'm currently on Verizon Prepaid. a $65 a month plan with unlimited 5G data. Now that I've been on it for a few years, I get some loyalty discounts, so my monthly phone bill is about $55 after taxes and fees. I'm not a power user by any stretch (I've used 11.9 GB of data with a week left in this billing cycle) but I like having the data overhead.
I think $55 a month is still a bit much. I'm a single dude, so I don't get any multi-line discounts.
I often hear Caleb pitch Mint Mobile. Right now they're running a special where you can get 3 months of unlimited for $45, basically $15 a month but you have to get 3 months upfront. Regular price on this plan comes to $120 for 3 months, or $40 a month, so I assume my rate will get jacked up once that first three months is up.
If I leave Verizon, I can't switch back and keep my $55 a month service.
What would Caleb do?
