Cost of permanents?

2024.05.20 07:55 Sink_Affectionate Cost of permanents?

I just went and saw a dental prosthetist (is that the right word lol) and was quoted $3000AUD for a permanent denture or $900AUD for a hard reline. Does this sound right? It seems like a lot to me I was expecting maybe 2k for permanents and around $500 for a reline. The dentist seemed extremely genuine and explained everything fully in detail and I swear this guy is the first dentist that explained to me how to brush my teeth properly (I still have my bottoms)

2024.05.20 04:48 Difficult-Concert283 Ugliest immediates ever??

Okay, I had my remaining top teeth pulled on May 2nd and today was the first day I could wear my immediate plate. Which hasn’t been easy as I’m young and have had a load of school events to attend with it being the end of the year and I’m honestly just torn up about my immediate denture. I went to Aspen dental, and the plate they gave me (I’ve done my own stuff to it to make it work for me but I’m specifically talking about the way the TEETH look) I had never seen before they put it in my mouth…where it then immediately cut my back gums… Three adjustments later, I literally could not put them back in my mouth due to the pain (teeth just got yanked out remember? They were in no hurry with those adjustments) I went back once, they cut a bigger slit in the front…though I’m not sure why…now glue CONSTANTLY seeps out onto my lips (you can see the cushion grip filling it in) I’m due to go back for a reline on the 29th, though I’ll have them look at my gums and make sure everything is fine I don’t believe I’ll let them touch my denture. With cushion grip and some other tweaks, I’ve got them working for me. I’m scared they’ll reline it and it will be a fight all over again. And all of that is one thing right? But WHY ARE THE TEETH LOOKIN’ LIKE THAT IN THE GUM LINE?! It’s very noticeable in my mouth 🙁 Can I stick it out for six months? Yes. Am I terrified for my permanent denture? Absolutely 😞 And to top it off, no one can seem to tell me which tier I am paying for in the dentures (I am doing financing) and I’m even more terrified about that. I know the picture isn’t great, but when I tell you the issues in the gum lines are so noticeable in person that…I once again will not smile 🥹 am I being delusional? Expectations too high for an immediate denture? Should I be terrified that I don’t even know what tier of denture I’m going to be getting? I haven’t really posted on Reddit but I’ve frequented a lot…especially recently.

2024.05.19 19:26 AdmirableLocation793 Advice

Hi all, I got my dentures a little over a year ago. I had a hard reline 3 months after my extractions and was told I could get another one after a year. At the first reline the teeth felt very thick but I lived with it and said to myself I’d wait for the final one. Just got the second and it’s worse than before. I have moved to another state so there’s no taking them to be adjusted. My question is, are dentures supposed to be this thick & uncomfortable? I’m afraid if I get a second pair, the same thing would happen. I made an appointment to get an opinion at Affordable Dentures but I was wondering what everyone’s experience has been. I hate them

2024.05.18 23:17 Scapeg-o-a-t Day 2 of dentures and lower partial is moving. What to do? Can't eat

My bf had 5 upper teeth removed for a full denture 2 days ago along with a lower partial denture that clicks via the front from lack of back molars. He said when he moves his mouth the back of it is pretty mobile. He won't even eat soft foods. He is just drinking ensures. He is supposed to go back to his hard labor job Monday. It seems unsafe
What can he do? Is this normal. Can he put adhesive on the bottom with having upper extractions. ? Will it be inconvenient from having a mess of glue and healing wounds in the same mouth.
I also bought cushion grip for him based on you guys' posts. Anything we can do with that?
FYI he will get not get another denture. Only relines

2024.05.17 02:49 Ok_Weird1027 Did I just trade one problem for another?

For anyone who hasn’t seen previous posts, I was not able to wear my lower denture for a week. Context: the bite was so off that I was having excruciating jaw pain and then I sprung a bone spur that needed to be filed down and needed several stitches so the doc asked me to leave the bottom plate out for 3 days. On day 2 I tried to put it back in and it just fell out of my mouth, it was waaay too big. So 3 days turned into a week before they could see me again. Fast forward to today, I go in for a soft reline (I’m 16 days post eday) The first tech could not figure out how to fix the bite and she got her boss to come in and after they put the soft liner in they spent about an hour doing bite sheets and filing down random teeth. I only had one molar touching on the right side and no other teeth touching at all if any denture makers are reading this. Anyway he filed down a bunch of teeth and got it ok. He said it’s the best he could do and if he filed down any more he could ruin the next soft line. 2 1/2 hours later and at this point they were working half way through their lunch break and I think were getting frustrated and just kinda pushed me out. I was so excited about having my bottoms back in that I didn’t even think to ask for a mirror first. As soon as I got home my husband was like, “can you even close your mouth?” And I realized, oh shit, I can’t. I look like Napoleon Dynamite and the bottoms look so huge in my mouth. I know this is common in the beginning, but is it common at this point in the journey? Should I wait a few days and see what happens or did they eff them up? For the record, before I had the bone spur removed they fit just fine. Ugh, I’m so frustrated!
Pics: mouth at rest, attempting to close mouth, and a smile because at least that looks half decent.

2024.05.16 15:35 Pooooog Collected information about season 24 25

Angelo

He loves gossiping about brawlers to make them fight each other... He's the Love Swamp's resident cupid-turned-mosquito. He buzzes around the canals looking for lovebirds to dazzle with his irresistible charm, even if those require a little extra, pointy incentive.

Angelo voice lines

There are only a few strange voice lines like, "Take a deep breath", "Just keep breathing" "And breathe!"

Melodie

She is a K-pop singer. Popular karaoke singer at Starr park and has some mood swings. Sometimes sweet and delicate as a rose and sometimes harsh as it's thorns... When it comes to Karaoke, Melodie shows no mercy. Armed with her kawaii looks and devilish set of pipes, she never fails to steal the limelight... In her song she says that she is built to be a K-pop singer, which means that she is a human experiment for Starr Park. I want to remind you that Max energy drink is called Max cuz it belongs only to Max. I think that she is also a human experiment.

Conections to other brawlers:

Poco, Janet, Frank, Chuck he is musianist sick beats modifier, they all removes stuns slows etc.

Melodie voice lines

I was watching a lot of videos about her lines, but not many people know how to translate, and what ever she says in Korean is not meaningful, like: Let's go! Are you ready?, are you crazy? Are you new here? etc. "Reload, reline, keep this moment on my mind"; "Dreams come true" ; "you'll remember this melody forever".

Theories

1) A mosquito touched a random gem first, and then Angelo (when he was a normal guy) touched the same gem second, and now he is 50% mosquito and 50% man. You may think that he just touched the gem. But gems give you the ability that you dreamed of, really like or love, or just make you go insane. I don't think Angelo was dreaming of being a mosquito. But now that he has cupid arrows, did he dream to be a Cupid? Possibly idk. The same thing you can say about Willow I guess. That explains all of the non-human, non-robot brawlers like Ash, 8-Bit, Rico, etc. So maybe it is important who touched the gem first, which doesn't make sense in the Crows situation. Well, I think that Crow is much more complicated, cuz he is the only one that we truly can't explain, cuz Crow just stole the clothes from Sign Man, that man wasn't fused with the crow.
2) An angry Scottish man put the gem in the bin and now Ash has a Scottish accent, and is always angry. 2. A mean girl touched a gem, threw it in the swamp, and Willow touched it. 3. R-T was initially built to be an info kiosk, but Rik put a gem on top and now R-T is a male robot. Some robots have been built by someone (like Pam) with reasons, and it is written on their descriptions, but some robots, don't have reason to be built in their descriptions. 4. Which means that Piper put a gem on top of her cookie oven and now Pearl is a female robot cookie oven with a "warm" nature. Same thing you can say about many brawlers. I don't believe that criminals would build a cookie oven, even to distract people, but it isn't written in her description.
3) Her title is Fearless because she can't be scared. she spawns monsters notes, maybe she has close connections with monsters. Maybe monsters wont scare her.
4) Music is for mindcontrol and brainwashing. I will have a closer look at it. Not instantly brainwashing, but if you are constantly listening to it, you might forget some stuff.
5) Starr park can control time, by just making clocks go backwards. you will talk and move backwards. As we saw it in I.V. and in Brawl talk.
5) In "The legend in the ocean" video we saw , that El primo was bitten by a shark and after that he could breathe in water. Does it mean that if you want to go to Otis you need to be bitten by a shark?

Thoughts

1) I think to explain who the legend in the ocean is from the Baby Shark video, we need to wait until Otis trio is completed.
2) There are a lot of K-pop songs (19) in WKBRL, but they sing in Korean and I don't understand it. I will try to translate, and hope to hear something meaningful. You know how Google translate works, which is not good. https://youtu.be/Fn6wy4w47Sc?si=Vh_bhFI0Y5kiUrSM
3) There are 4 Morse codes but they all translate to ES: 1) One on the Spike drop tower, in Ranged Ranch. 2) On the speaker in Basketbrawl 3) On the antennas of a TV in Kits cartoon environment, 4) on a computer in Mega pig environment. If WKBRL Morse code was found from Jessie's radio that was hinting about the radio stream in YT, then ES was found on electronic devices, which should hint at the blue prints of those electronic devices or Electronic Systems (ES) ? Idk it's just a thought.
4) Why is her name Melody? So her parents already knew that she would be a K-pop singer? Do their parents choose their names, or does Starr Park choose?

Questions

1) Why does Angelo have a fork and knife in his angry pin? 3) Why does Angelo say to take a deep breath when using his super. 4) Why is the Swamp of love closed, for maintenance? 6) What does the rewind message mean in Brawl talk?

2024.05.15 21:52 Murky-Walrus-7574 It will be one month tomorrow

Tomorrow will be one month since e-day. I had my first soft reline Monday and it has made a big difference for the better. But I am still struggling.
I'm struggling with eating. I am thinking with the reline and some paste I can really start to test myself on hardier foods. But whenever I try to eat with my dentures I can only handle a few bites and I end up taking them out and just gumming the rest of the way.
I am struggling with "feeling" the food between "my teeth". It's like I forgot how to chew because I don't know if I am actually chewing something because I can't feel it if that makes sense.
My biggest issue with it all is the plate. I never in a million years would have guessed how important the roof of my mouth was in regards to eating. Being able to feel and taste my food feels like it has almost completely gone. The only joy or pleasure I get from eating any more is when I take my dentures out and because everything is so soft there's very little joy or pleasure eating.
Does it really get better? Because at this point I am getting fairly discouraged and depressed thinking that I'm never going to enjoy eating again. But hey... I have a nice smile for the first time. LOL

2024.05.08 20:37 No_Temporary2421 All on 4 dental implants with sinus lift question

3 weeks I had all on 4 dental implant on my upper jaw. They did a sinus lift which was not fun lol. All the swelling is gone. I have to use a traditional denture for 6 months.
Recently I was eating some Mac and cheese and I guesss one of the noodles was overcooked and when I bit down I felt some pain but I wasn’t sure if I pinched my gum with the denture since I haven’t gone to get my first reline or that’s normal to feel pressure when chewing and it happened on the side where they did the sinus lift. I go into the dentist for my 1 month post appointment but nervous about it.
The pain was not even severe it felt like a small pinch or pressure. Is that ok on the 3 week mark? On the side where I didn’t get the sinus lift it feels 100% good.

2024.05.07 12:30 NoDirection82 Soft reline question

I'm about two months post extraction and received my first soft reline yesterday. I'm wondering whether the reline material should be in the outside of my dentures or if they just did a sloppy job. The outside of the dentures feel gritty and weird in my mouth/against my tongue now. They do feel much better on my gums. I voiced my concerns to the office when they gave my dentures back, but they told me they got as much off as they could and that it would not be perfect. Is this normal or did they do a poor job?

2024.05.02 14:04 SadDocument1269 Soft reline Taste

Hello all, I’ve posted a few times here on my old Reddit account but I deleted it for privacy reasons. Anyway I got my soft reline yesterday and am so so happy with how they fit! (No more monkey mouth and can talk normal again😭) But the taste??? Why does it taste like minty sunscreen and how do I make it go away? My tops fit with no adhesive now, my bottoms I can finally use a normal amount and not have to try to brush the extra seeping out and making myself gag. I brush them, soak them with Rexall denture tabs overnight, I even put a little bit of my prescription mouth wash to help get rid of the taste. Will it fade over time or is there a secret way I am not aware of???

2024.04.30 18:46 Roserie 2wks post extraction and experience with cushion grip

This stuff has basically saved my sanity. Had full upper and partial lower extractions with immediate dentures/partial. Fit has been rough with the temporary pieces. I've been into my dentist a few times to have them make adjustments while swelling comes and goes, and had a soft reline done. But I've still had quite a bit of issues with severe sore spots. I can't really use any adhesive right now since my gums are still healing. I put cushion grip on both the top and bottom and it significantly reduced the pain in the problem spots. It's also helping keep everything in right now since the fit isn't great. I'd suggest it to anyone having issues with sore spots or fit to use until they are able to get their stuff adjusted permanently. I still have pain today, but far less than I was having last week.

2024.04.29 21:12 Ok-Two-3105 Incorrect complete denture occlusion

Just made a set of complete dentures which seemed good at the try in and delivery stages. Patient returned after a month saying they fit well but he cannot eat with them because they’re not biting correctly. On examination there is edge to edge occlusion with a 5mm shift to the left. I was able to get him to shift into the planned balanced occlusion but he said it was uncomfortable. I said to give it more time and will review him in 2 weeks. If he is unable to adapt what can I do to fix the occlusion? I was thinking I could remove 1-2mm of the intaglio surface and do a reline impression in his preferred bite? TIA

2024.04.29 02:40 Pepperoni_Nippys My experience getting dental work in Mexico

My experience getting dental work in Mexico
Hi all!
I was in dire need of dental work. I had a chip on one of my molars that was a whole corner missing, 1/4 of the tooth gone. Went to the dentist here and was told I needed a root canal, post, crown, filling on another tooth, and deep cleaning. I was quoted around $5k, no insurance.
My parents have been going to Smile Special Dental Clinic in Algodones, MX for the past few years. Decided to give it a shot. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. The office was very clean and up to date. My dentist didn’t know English but they have translators if needed. I was able to get all work completed within 2.5 hours when I arrived at 8am but had to wait until 2:30p for my crown to be ready for installation. Installation took about 20 ministers and we were on our way to the border. Down time was spent walking around the local shops while we waited for the crown. Total cost was $750.
I am 100% satisfied and will go back for my next dental needs. Just wanted to share as I personally know how it to be struggling will bills with bad teeth needing to be fixed. I also attached the pricing sheet. I also saw you could send the bill to your insurance to get reimbursement, not sure how the at process goes. I am very happy now with no more tooth pain 😌

2024.04.27 03:55 Yzma_Kitt Does or did this getting dentures experience suck for anyone else?

Everyone I know with dentures and it seems everywhere I read or watch online have these great experiences and how dentures changed their lives for the better. I'm here mentally losing it because this feels like it's one of the worst choices I've ever made!(And I've made some really bad choices in my life. Getting a tattoo of a stupid cartoon fad when I was a teenager. Having kids before I was ready, dropping out of college instead of getting loans, moving to and living in Southern New Mexico. Those kinds of bad choices.)
Outside of my E day 3 months ago this entire thing has been a miserable hell. Bone spurs/shards, gums separating apart, allergic reaction to the sutures. The stupid damn temporaries not fitting at all no matter how they are adjusted or soft relined. The headaches, having toothaches even though there's NO TEETH to ache! The earaches. All the face pain, and sinuse draining.
Not being able to eat, the gagging, and choking. The gapping of the denture in the back between the plastic and the roof of my mouth. The cutting against that lip tendon thing that connects the lip to the gums, the sore spots from where the whole thing rubs, gets adjusted then a new spot rubs!
I'm over this whole fresh new circle of hell. There's just no going back, obviously. This has been a massive waste of money for a lot of pain, misery and embarrassment. And I don't see the point in wasting anymore money going further into debt for permanent dentures after 9 more months of this.
I regret this all so much. I never thought I'd miss my ugly messed up real teeth. The only reason I agreed to this was I was told it would be better than to keep getting infections from them and I would be able to smile and laugh without hiding my face like I have since I was around 6. I disagree now.
Everyone irl with dentures keeps telling me I'll get used to this. It'll get better. Showing me how good their's look. How they can chew, how they can smile. That I look better now I just need to learn how to move my mouth around then so they don't pop, slide, slip and clunk around my mouth. That I can practice talking to stop gleaking, drooling, lisping and spitting when I try to talk.
This isn't going to get better. I know it won't. What'll happen is I'll just have to get used to however worse it gets until that level of life sucking goes from the new normal to just plain normal.
Idk. Maybe it's that misery does like company, I would just like to know if I really am the odd one out and completely alone for hating all of this?

2024.04.26 06:30 Early_Wafer_1579 Who wants to play a game?

Okay guys I’m here to be a ray of mother fucking sunshine in the subreddit! I’ve seen a lot of negativity, and worse so a lot of negativity on posts asking for encouragement??? So if you will kindly drop a comment of something positive about your dentures and maybe one thing you struggled/struggling with, I think it would be super helpful! Dentures aren’t rainbows and sunshine! Mine are currently too big and I’m pretty far out from a hard reline but I love my teeth!! I can’t eat just about anything and I love not covering my mouth when I smile. :) I love not having broken rotting teeth in my mouth and worrying that if I chew in the wrong spot I’ll break another! What about yall?? Let me hear some positivity! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

2024.04.25 03:04 lizo12 1st soft reline

Hello all! My E day was March 27th and I am getting my first soft reline on may 1st. My immediates do not fit without a very good amount of poligrip (also if anyone has a better adhesive to use please tell me I hate taking the shit out of my mouth every night) especially my bottoms, my tops fit with a normal amount of adhesive but my bottoms I have to put adhesive on, pop them back out and add more and then they stick. Whats some advice that I can do or ask for so they fit good when I leave? What are some issues that happen a lot etc? I’m going through aspen dental and I get my permanents in 6 months, I used car credit and have quite a bit left I can use if needed on dentures

2024.04.24 23:00 Insomanics My dentures are loose.

Since the swelling has gone down my dentures have become loose. There's really nothing affordable dentures can do right now. I have to wait for at least a year for a reline. I've been looking at different products that will make my dentures fit snug again. I got this. Has anyone else used it? Does it work? Is it hard to use? How long does it last? I also saw some other products that do a reline. Any advice will be helpful. Thank you 😄

2024.04.24 18:39 BamaGirl4361 Massive win today!

I managed to eat a Danish with my dentures today. May, not seem like a big deal to some but you have to understand I got this done in February. It's taken this long to manage to eat ANYTHING with my dentures. I also noticed they rock horribly even with adhesive so I may need a new reline to help that but regardless this was a major win today for me. I have to eat a lot slower too because I can't determine the pressure like I could with my natural teeth but I'll get there.
edit to add add a cheeseburger and fries to that list. Hopefully this can continue and my nutrition will improve.
I'm tired of carbs lol

2024.04.23 22:58 SynCookies13 What do I do with these?

Hey guys! I’m looking for some advice, perhaps I am over reacting and I just need to get use to things but wanted to ask. Some background, E day was April 11th and I got my immediate dentures then but even with the swelling they just kept falling right off, weren’t even touching anything really. Had some adjustments a week later and got cleared for a fixative but then ran into the issue where I couldn’t swallow. This morning I got a soft reline, the back cut down so I can swallow, and more cutting down of the sides. Now with the soft reline they finally have some suction and I can actually wear them. But they feel SO thick and chunky. I know that can be normal and I just got to get use to them but when I was practicing smiling I noticed 1)they’re super gummy and 2) it really looks like they are extremely far out from where I think they should be. I’m posting some pics so you can kind of see how much soft reline material was needed. And they really do feel better comfort wise but still super big. They’ve felt super big since I first got them, ya know without them not even coming close to contacting anything even when I was swollen. Any thoughts on what I should do or do I just need to suck it up?

2024.04.22 23:30 No_Dimension_3540 It's gotta be done

I've been lurking here for a good while and I think I've picked up the jargon enough to effectively ask some questions, lol.
So due to GERD from an early age and hereditary weak teeth, I believe I will need to have a full mouth extraction and dentures before I turn 30 🙃 I have NC medicaid and from what I've read, they'll cover extractions and either immediates or permanents (acrylic), but not both.
There is an Affordable Dentures and implants fairly close to me and they accept medicaid. I guess my plan right now is to get immediates and eventually get a hard reline to make them permanents because I can't go without teeth due to my work. I've seen plenty of people and websites say that immediates can 100% be used as permanents for a long time, and I've seen an equal amount say that immediates can't be used as permanents, don't last long at all and are basically only useful for having a smile. I'm a single dad with a young child so I don't have much expendable income.
This conundrum has been wracking my nerves night and day because I'm already filled to the brim with anxiety with the thought of having to get dentures this young. The additional worry that the immediates I get won't be useful past the healing process is adding so much more stress. Having an anxiety disorder before all this began hasn't helped either, as I'm sure you can imagine 😅 I'm planning on telling people that I'm getting some crowns done and wisdom teeth pulled, and wearing a mask saying (the dentist told me it helps keep swelling down) if I look like I have horse teeth from the swelling, lmao.
I'm not worried about the pain, some of the insane, mind bending tooth pain I've experienced over the years has me fairly confident that if my hand were chopped off, it still wouldn't hurt as bad, lol. I also had big inguinal hernia surgery like 4 years ago from manual labor that made me very familiar with intense pain.
I've spoken with some of the nice people here that said immediates can be made of weaker material or the same material as permanents depending on the lab. Has anyone here got immediates from an Affordable Dentures and Implants that they use as permanents? If your immediates worked great and you're happy with them, did they use a gel mold or scan?
I'm also curious how many appointments there will be from the initial consultation and x-ray to eday.
Any information for any of these things would be extremely helpful and would help me suck it up and get the ball rolling, lol. Thank you
