On Killing and Morality in War.
I promised a follow-up to my yesterday’s post on more technical aspects of planning and executing a ground invasion. It’s coming – already started writing it… may or may not have time to finish it today.

I’d like to start with a sidebar: a “personal message of sorts.” First, I appreciate all the supportive comments. Of course, there were a few with reading comprehension problems who took an issue with the concept that war can be quite a fun and exhilarating experience (despite the clear “do not recommend” theme throughout). I didn’t plan on writing this post, but felt prompted by some of the comments.
I see a lot of “moralizing” from certain characters who are convinced of their moral superiority and truly believe themselves to be the arbiters of human character.
Side Note: there are also plenty of decent, well-meaning folks who may disagree with one position or another… but do so from a thoughtful place, taking time to consider a counter-point. Nothing but respect to those. Freedom of disagreement is one of the liberties I value highly (a luxury people who live in Islamist enclaves don’t get). Regardless – nothing but respect to y’all. The world is a complicated place and many of your points I find valid, even if our conclusions may differ.
For the “wow… rape must also be fun for you… and murdering 12 million children” crowd”, I’d like to say the following: You, my friends, are among the most dangerous societal types, historically speaking. Seemingly intellectual, but lacking facts, context, and nuance – yet fully convinced of your moral and intellectual superiority. First of – congrats on being born in a place where being a moralizing peacenik is a viable option in life. Second – your “morals” just so happen to reflect the modern western moral code you were born into (and which you’ve done nothing yourself for to achieve). But, in other places, moralizing puritans like you keep the same character, but embrace a different set of “norms and morals”. In other words – a typical Islamist imam doesn’t sound much different than you in tone and conviction… his “holy book” just so happens to be Quaran rather than the ramblings of Norm Finklestein. And, of course, we’ve seen what tends to happen in other places where “anti-capitalist” and “anti-colonialist” moral puritans take hold – I was born at such a place. Let’s just say that the road from “I’m for the oppressed and anti-oppressors” to “we need to murder the reactionaries” is very short and easily crossed. And it’s always the most “righteously-outraged” who cross it first.

Anyways, back to topic of the post.
On Killing and Morality – Does Modern Combat Look like a “video game”?
I saw a comment or two that modern combat is too impersonal, looks like a video game, that it’s too easy for soldiers to kill innocents, etc., etc. I’ve also heard a similar argument from others, in unrelated circumstances.
To anyone thinking that – no, my friends. Killing people isn’t made easier by more lethal and remote weapons. I understand why it may seem that way. But, in many ways, it’s quite the opposite.
1. Military is just a mirror of its society. A military is a perfect representation of a society at large. Some soldiers will indeed be natural-born psychopaths who enjoy killing. But that’s a very tiny number – not any larger than in general population.
2. Bravado is Fake. Most younger soldiers will display a lot of bravado initially – pretend like violence doesn’t bother them (that’s why the military tries really hard to condition new recruits by trivializing the idea of “killing” – but it’s never successful).
3. The Reality. The truth is – killing shocks most soldiers to their core, no matter how much they try to suppress it and put on a brave war fighter face.

• To new troops, my demand was simple – in your first contact, get down, don’t get in the way, and just live to see another day.
• For many, it takes more than one contact to come to their senses and to even start pulling the trigger. There is a natural mental block that stops humans from wanting to kill another human and it’s not overcome easily.
• I’ve seen plenty young kids (and yes, a 19-year old trooper is still a kid) beg and plead certain “characters” we’ve encountered to just be reasonable… raising their weapon in the air to demonstrate they don’t mean harm (very ill advised). Despite months of training, their first instinct was “please, I really don’t want to harm you… please don’t make me to.” That’s the true nature of most young western men and women – including those in uniforms and carrying weapons.

4. Understanding “Anger”. Often time you see what seems obvious anger among soldiers after a firefight. The easy explanation is the simple “of course they hate their enemy”. Except that’s not why they’re truly angry.

• The first source of anger is “I can’t believe this a-hole just tried to kill me”. But then the longer-lasting source of anger sets in. And that one is: “I can’t believe that a-hole made me kill him”. There is a big difference between the two emotions. And the second one lasts much longer.
• The older, more experienced troops and commanders are more used to the realities of the battlefield… which brings me to the next point...

5. “Remote” Killing. From experience, I’ll tell you this – dealing with a remote target is much easier in the sense that it’s not as “scary”. But it’s much more difficult emotionally and mentally – though a commander will never show it to their troops. That decision takes much longer and raises many more doubts than responding to a nearby target that’s actively trying to kill your guys.

• Drone pilots have among the highest rates of PTSD. There is nothing easy about dropping a bomb on a human being from the safety of a trailer in the desert and then going home to eat dinner with your family. It’s a f’ed-up thing to ask a man (or a woman) to do. There is nothing easy about going home that day. And it f-cks with your brain permanently. I don’t envy those guys one bit. Though I can imagine that dropping a bomb on a clear hostile target is very satisfying. But the emotion is the same as the above – not anger at the target itself but because you wouldn’t be doing this sh*t if it wasn’t for them.

6. Why the young men and women in IDF went to war. I don’t want to start a debate about history of the region – it’s a different topic and it doesn’t change the practical realities my posts are meant to address. From a soldier’s point of view – it looks very simple:

• The enemy hates me and want my family dead (spare me the “colonialism” lecture please)
• The enemy launched tens of thousands of rockets at us. We tried to hide behind our Iron Dome and the big wall. But that failed (a defensive posture always gets breached eventually, btw).
• The enemy invaded and killed my people. And they plan on doing it as much as they can.
• The enemy isn’t some obscure “group” – it’s a clearly defined target… the ruling, paramilitary organization at this place called Gaza (again, spare me the lecture whether it’s a country of a “concentration camp”. From a soldier’s point of view – it makes no difference).
• We can no longer live next to this enemy. And now, it’s a binary choice – go find the enemy and kill him or he will eventually come back for you.
• The rest of it… the history, the politics of it, the various grievances… hopefully we can sort it out after the fact.

That’s it. That’s the mindset. It’s really that simple for the guys and gals rolling into Gaza. The rest of what gets discussed on wester social media is just philosophical circle jerk to their ears.

Anyhow… I bet I’ll soon hear from the peaceniks who’ll tell me that they’d never do that, that they’d be conscious objectors, etc… To them, I’d like to ask that while you take a break from fellating yourself, don’t forget to thank the guys and the girls who do the dirty jobs so you don’t have to
And… while at it, don’t forget to apologize to the next generation of Arab girls who will be sold into a “marriage” to some fat, old toothless f*ck because some fat, comfortable hippie with an ivy league diploma believes that child rape is just an indigenous form of cultural expression and our interference with it is “colonialism”.

I've been working in digital marketing for 7+ years now, specializing in one facet. I'm honestly growing a little tired of it's repetition, and little career growth. A proposed tax on high-value real estate transactions to pay for affordable housing would add an estimated 3,210 affordable homes in Massachusetts over five years, according to the governor’s administration – a drop in the bucket of the state’s 200,000 housing unit shortage.
Despite only adding about 1.6% of the units needed to chip away at housing demand, the policy may be causing a delay in one of the biggest bills lawmakers are poised to tackle this session, which includes other proposed policies and capital funds that may do more for the state’s housing shortage.
Healey’s $4.1 billion housing bond bill – which she is marketing as the largest-ever state investment in housing in Massachusetts – includes the tax policy change in an outside section that would clear the way for additional local levies on property sales without any additional approval needed from Beacon Hill.
Under the proposed local option, any city, town or regional affordable housing commission can adopt a real estate transfer fee between 0.5% and 2% on the portions of a sale above a certain amount with a vote of their local legislative body. The threshold would be either $1 million or the median single-family home sales price for the county, whichever is greater. Revenue from the transfer tax would fund local affordable housing efforts and the preservation of existing public housing stock.
The administration’s estimate that this policy could generate 3,210 affordable housing units over five years is based on an assumption that 50% of Massachusetts’ cities and towns would adopt a 1% tax, then put that money toward subsidizing housing at about $350,000 per unit.
Based on fiscal 2022 transactions, the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities found that 53 municipalities in central and western Massachusetts had zero transactions above the $1 million threshold. Another 96 municipalities would have raised less than $100,000 in FY22 for each 1% levied.
Eighty-four communities could have raised over $1 million in fiscal year 2022 with a transfer tax, including a dozen between $5 million and $10 million. Revere and Somerville could have raised $10 million to $12 million, Cambridge $28 million and Boston $70 million for affordable housing with a 1% levy.
At least 11 cities and towns – Boston, Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, Amherst, Chatham, Concord, Nantucket, Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet – have sent the Legislature home rule petitions seeking permission to launch real estate transfer fees. Supporters say the measure is desperately needed to help more people to be able to afford to live and work in those communities.
Another policy included in Healey’s housing bill to authorize accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, by right in single-family zoning districts, would produce more than three times the amount of units across the state, compared to the transfer tax.
Supporters say ADUs, which are smaller buildings or apartments on the same property as a single-family home, offer additional housing for larger families with adult children or older parents, but they can be difficult to get permitted in some communities.
Officials said that based on adoption rates in New Hampshire and California, the permitting reform could lead to production of as many as 10,000 units in Massachusetts in five years. The bill includes other policies meant to spur housing production – including setting a new simple majority voting threshold for inclusionary zoning ordinances and creating a streamlined process for dispensing state land toward housing purposes – as well as unlocking over $4 billion to support production, preservation and rehabilitation of more than 65,000 homes, according to Healey’s office.
Still, House Speaker Ron Mariano indicated last week the controversial real estate transfer tax has slowed down deliberations on the bill that Healey filed over seven months ago.
Mariano said the transfer tax is “not as popular as I thought it might be” within his chamber.
“I’ve been listening to a lot of members. A lot of comments about the taxation issue, around the transfer tax. And so it’s slowed me down a lot,” the speaker told reporters last week. “I’m gonna have to really weigh the measure of where that would, what would happen in the chamber if we brought that up.”
The News Service asked Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll for a reaction to the speaker’s comments about the transfer tax as she left the Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants lobby day on Monday morning.
“I mean, we really support the affordable homes bill, all of the policy provisions that are in it, and we look forward to working with leadership and frankly everybody in the delegation to try and get it over the goal line,” she responded.
Asked how she would pitch the transfer tax to representatives who may not be on board, Driscoll noted that the policy is local-option, so cities and towns would not be forced to enact the new tax.
“We think it’s a real tool for local communities who want to be able to invest in affordable housing within their boundaries,” she said. “Having these resources is critical to that, and we frankly really appreciate the flexibility that communities will have to choose to accept this transfer fee. It will be a local option for cities and towns.”
Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus emphasized that revenue generated from the transfer fee could also be used to preserve existing housing.
“We think it’s an important tool, and today we’re talking to public housing tenants,” Augustus said in an interview after the Monday morning Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants event. “We specifically said in the legislation that communities that decided to opt into a transfer fee would spend it on affordable housing creation, preservation or public housing. And we see in some communities that there are great partnerships with their local public housing, and they make capital investments ... So we think it can also be a way to preserve and improve the public housing stock in communities through the transfer fee.”
Senate President Karen Spilka sidestepped a question this weekend over whether she supports a local option transfer tax. Spilka, asked in a television interview whether she supports Healey’s pitch to allow municipalities to impose the real estate transfer fee, said her chamber is “still debating it.”
“The housing bill hasn’t even come to the Senate yet. The House is doing it first,” Spilka said on WCVB’s “On The Record,” which aired Sunday. “We are working on some pieces, but I think that we need to look at whatever we do with the eye of ensuring that we continue to build housing in every corner of the state and make it more affordable for residents.”
Spilka, asked by OTR host Sharman Sacchetti whether the $1 million threshold for the transfer tax proposal was “set too low” considering the volume of Massachusetts homes that are worth more than that amount, did not directly answer.
“That will be a big discussion and debate among the senators, so I’m waiting to hear from the Senate,” Spilka said. “We haven’t had that debate and discussion yet, so we’ll see.”

I just started this new job 2 weeks ago and was super excited because it looks good on my resume, and it was a fresh start after leaving a not so great job. I’m also a student taking online classes so my availability is limited and I gave my availability to my boss at orientation. However, she scheduled me every single day that first week and I finally snapped and said something the second week when I saw she was about to do it again. She asked me to call her and expressed she wanted to schedule everyone respectfully. We went through the entire month of May and I felt she responded well. The rest of last week followed my availability. However, I’m realizing she changed my schedule again for this week adding on a day I said no to and an extra hour on a day where I said I could only do mornings. That extra hour will make it so I have no time for lunch before I go to volunteer at the local children’s hospital, and it may even make me late. I’ve built a very strong rapport with the hospital over the last four months and do not want to damage that because my boss is inhibiting my ability to go there. Thankfully, volunteering is super flexible but showing up late/calling in/changing when I’ll come in every single week would not look good. I don’t get paid to volunteer but I want to work there one day, so this connection is super important to me. I also fear this will effect my schoolwork which is a big no no. I just made the dean’s list and don’t want to lose that. I do think she is just struggling to juggle everyone, but I’m also like is she messing with me?? We JUST talked about this! She’s very nice to talk to and such, but she’s not respecting my time. I am hesitant to quit because I really do enjoy the job and it’s good for my overall career. But it’s only been two weeks and it’s already a persistent issue. My career will disappear altogether if I can’t do well in school or damage my best connection. Hi everyone, I'm going to be a fresh undergraduate graduate with a B.A. of International Affairs at the end of December and am unsure of whether or not to pursue a MSW or a MPA for my career goals. I want to work in the anti-human trafficking space and have an internship this summer with a large nonprofit that focuses on child trafficking, but am unsure whether a MSW or a MPA would be a better fit for my career goals.
I've talked to a couple people who have worked for the federal government in anti-human trafficking and have highly encouraged me to pursue a MSW, but I have no background in SW. Yet, it seems that most people in this field have some sort of SW or psychology degree. One of the biggest frustrations I see people having in this group is with the YouTube Algorithm. They are 110% certain that they aren’t getting any views because the algorithm is broken. Instead of spending time improving their content, they spend most of their time, trying to prove to themselves and everyone else – “The YouTube Algorithm is broken and not working as it should”. Or the classic – “The YouTube algorithm only pushes content from big YouTube Channels”.
Today I wanted to share with you what I’ve learned about the infamous and evil “Algorithm” and how it applies to your YouTube channel. Hopefully it helps give you clarity on the YouTube Algorithm and reframes your thinking when it comes to building a successful YouTube channel. I also hope it helps reduce the frustration and the burn out you may feel because your channel isn’t where you want it to be.
The YouTube Algorithm is an AI-powered recommendation system, which is designed to put the BEST and most engaging content in front of viewers on YouTube. It does this by analyzing large amounts of data that tracks the preferences and habits of viewers. The cool and frustrating thing about the algorithm is that it changes over time. For example, the algorithm used to favor subscriber counts, but it has recently shifted and prioritizes views. I am sure there are other tweaks and shifts that happen often, but this was the most noticeable change.
Here is where it gets frustrating, most new content creators are misled by random bits of information from “YouTube Experts” about how the algorithm works. And when their videos flop on YouTube, the only reason they can come up with is – “The Algorithm is not working correctly.”
The truth is, in order to understand how the algorithm works, you first have to accept one simple fact. An algorithm will always work in favor of a company’s policies, values and mission statement.
Now that we know this, let’s dive a little deeper. YouTube’s approach prioritizes the 4-Rs

1. REMOVE content that violates its polices.
2. REDUCE false news.
3. RAISE UP authoritative sources for news and information.
4. REWARD trusted creators.

In their creator videos, YouTube says – “YouTube’s recommendation system actually finds videos for viewers, rather than finding viewers for videos” - Put simply, YouTube prioritizes the VIEWER – not the CREATOR! Let me say it another way just for emphasis – Viewers want to see videos THEY WANT TO WATCH, not the videos YOU WANT TO MAKE.
Although the algorithm takes into account several factors when recommending content, it can be split into two main categories
• Viewer Personalization – This includes data about what videos users watch and which ones they ignore.
• Viewer Satisfaction – This measures the performance of a video based on metrics like longer watch time, video shares, likes, comments, subscribes and watch history.
Reading the comments and posts, it seems a lot of people don’t take into consideration the fact that; “The Algorithm” is a term that reflects the behavior and viewing habits of YOUR audience. It’s not some robot deciding if it should show your video to other people or not. It is also very important to remember, because YOUR audience loves YOUR videos, it doesn’t mean other people will.
How to win with the algorithm audience on YouTube.
1). Make the tough decision on how you want to use the YouTube Platform. It doesn’t matter what you decide to do, just always keep in mind each decision has different outcomes, and success is not guaranteed.
a. Do you view YouTube as a place to share your life/experiences and videos on YouTube. This is fine, but you need to remember all art, isn’t fine art. If your art isn’t appealing to the masses, you may get frustrated and burnt-out creating content for people who aren’t interested.
b. Do you view YouTube as a business and an opportunity to make money. This is also fine, but at this point you become a “contracted” employee of YouTube, and it is your responsibility to make sure you adopt their business model and align your content with YouTube’s expectations – Do this and you are more likely to succeed.
2). Understand the metrics and how/where YouTube places your content.
A. YouTube Search – YouTube is a search engine, and it prioritizes your content based on the following
i. Relevance – your videos should have appropriate keywords, titles, tags and descriptions.
ii. Engagement – your videos should have high watch time, likes, and comments.
iii. Quality – Your videos should have quality content, display expertise and trustworthiness.
B. YouTube Homepage – Here is where most viewers start their journey. Here a viewer can see video ads, relevant videos and shorts that a person may be interested in.
C. Recommended Videos – Videos are recommended to users based on their watch history, search history, channel subscriptions, country and time of day/month/year.
D. Trending Videos – Trending aims to share videos that appeal to a large audience. Think viral videos, new music videos or breaking news. – Things that instantly capture a viewer’s attention.
E. Subscriptions and Notifications – Videos are shown to people who have subscribed to your channel and/or are notified of your latest content.
Always remember to succeed at YouTube you have reframe your thinking and use logic and data to drive your decision making and content strategy. Don’t let misinformed “YouTube Experts” influence your decision making. In 2023 YouTube generated 31.5 billion dollars in revenue and reached 2.7 billion active users – How can they do this if their algorithm is broken?
It’s a tough pill to swallow, but greatness is only achieved by setting aside our egos. Stop worrying/arguing about the algorithm, and work on making small improvements and connecting with your audience. Bruce Lee once said – “It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.”

Problem: My 14-year old just can't get motivated by school or extracurriculars at school and isn't doing well. She's a smart kid, she's curious about certain things and has a circle of close friends that she hangs out with outside school, but she is not getting good grades at all and just generally has a shitty attitude towards school.
Solution? My wife and my mother think she does better when there are more adults around that hold her accountable. The teachers at school are great, but they have 30 kids to deal with. My wife and I don't have any family in the area so my daughter only sees other adult family members every few months.
My wife would like to move closer to family when my 14-year old graduates middle school this summer and put her into private school where she would be in smaller classrooms in school (with presumably more teacher attention) and have more interaction with grandparents and aunts/uncles outside of school.
Our career situation is such that this is feasible, but are our expectations reasonable? Are we being too optimistic about the effect of this change in situation?

So I(20M) was in a relationship for 1 year with a girl(19F) since the 1st Year of our college. This was both of our first relationship and we both never really tried before and both are very ambitious about our careers. I approached her and I was very straightforward about it and we got in a relationship after 2 months of knowing each other but we spent quite a lot of time together. Everything went well for 1 year , we had a great time , she would at many times show her gratitude for me being in her life and I would feel the same. However, she had some issues adjusting to the college life as she was an introvert and didn't had any friends in college, she also didn't like to hang out much and mostly focused on her studies, I was the only one she would spend time in college and even I had to convenience her to go out and do things because she never made any plans, but I can say for sure that she really liked going out every time with me.
There were many times that she would get upset over little things or rude over things that wasn't even my fault , like weather, exam stress etc. I never really made a big issue out of it and thought that she is just having trouble adjusting in college. I ALWAYS apologised when she would get upset because I considered here to be really emotional person , and even though her reasons for being upset were not very logical many times I thought she must be feeling a lot of things emotionally and if I apologise she'll feel heard and she'll feel better. This turned out to be big mistake , because after this apology she would mostly be upset for around a day and after that everything used to get normal and she would act normal again, because I was so in love with her, seeing her smile after the argument and hugging her after the separation of 1 day used to make my heart melt and I would she things like "Thank you for being so understanding" , I never really cared about ego or anything, to me she was very special , she was really Innocent and unique. Like I understood that this is her first relationship and she obviously doesn't understand how to react to these situations and acts out of emotions and since I can understand that it's just emotions I should be the understanding one. You can say this was the only issue in our relationship, we had no major issues and really was quite a fit for each other.
Now in our 3rd semester almost 1 year of being in a relationship, there was an argument between us, not even an argument, it was just me ranting for 1.5-2 Minutes, according to her this was the first time someone treated her this way, this is the start of all the troubles of my life, all I did was - I was waiting for 2.5 hours for her to complete a meet that she said would end in 15 minutes when it ended she was going forgetting that I was waiting for her, in the heat of the moment I said "it was a stupid meet and these people (the college club that held the meet) just keeps wasting our time" obviously in a very mocking tone and with anger, however, I controlled my anger and cracked a joke, and just still mocked the club with one two more lines. I promise I remember that day exactly that I even said this to her that I know it's not your fault even though you didn't know that it would take that long and I said nothing after that, NOT EVEN A SINGLE THING TO HER, according to her this was the first time I was angry on her and talked to her in this tone. She went completely silent as I was talking ( and this is a pattern , everytime she gets angry she would do this) and the thing is before this time , every time she went silent I would shut up and let her be , and she used to create this stressful and toxic environment where she would just don't talk to me at all and if she talks she'll be really rude and this time too I PREDICTED this but what was different this time was I WAS ALREADY FRUSTRATED, I was sick that day, I was not doing well adjusting to the new Semester and college myself , one of my biggest personal projects had Just Failed ( I dropped a year because of this project) and so I just didn't had the energy to let her go to hostel angry like this , so that it doesn't waste my 2 more days, I had no space for more stress in my life at that time. So I requested her to speak and she stayed silent, and I requested more and it just got really bad I kept asking her to speak and requesting her to speak and she was just silent like always, I knew I was angry it felt really wrong but I was frustrated with that behaviour , but she went back to hostel like that. After few hours I texted her apologising and explaining that I was really frustrated and stressed.
Next Morning I sent more messages In a lighter tone, cracked a joke but she replied very rudely, I called her and she didn't pick and I got really anxious and she didn't pick any call. I waited , apologised, cracked few jokes and said that this won't happen again because I won't really be that low in my life again , I would like always understand and can you understand too and she just replied "I am done being so understanding" I was shocked, and she started saying things like "I don't have feelings for you anymore" , She used things from my rant of last night "You don't even like the people I work with" and so many things , I just kept panicking and I went to her hostel and texted her that I am really sorry but we need to talk in person, that she is just really angry and that I would listen to anything she has to say, but she didn't say anything and didn't came down.
Then she wrote a day after that She would talk to me in a few days, meanwhile, we continued to see each other in class and she would just act so distant like she didn't even know me. This hurt me a lot (In retrospect I think I was also very naive to be so hurt and emotional) but I tried to talk to her again and she didn't even look at me, a few days later she invited me to talk to her in front of her hostel. She just said that She needs a one-month NO CONTACT break and that she needs some space, I reluctantly agreed because I wanted to talk to her first but she didn't want me to. I said that it would be really difficult since we see each other every day and we need to resolve things first but she was adamant. She said doesn't even want a single text from me. I agreed but I was really angry, this was very Irrational in my opinion and I just knew things ended at that point. I didn't text her or call her, though in the next seven days, I made the mistake of looking at her in class two or three times, to which she texted me that I should stop staring at her and that made her uncomfortable, this made me even angrier, this was the first time I stopped apologising after the fight and said that this isn't practical that we act as complete stranger and that I also really hurting from all this.
In a matter of one week she changed a lot , started giving all the details to her male best friend and also started acting very extrovert, she started joining events, late night walk with friends ( she never did this while we were in relationship , she used to get a call from her mother at 10 PM and she would always go back to hostel) , she started going out a lot and so much more , all in a matter of a week. All of this made me lose my patience and through a common friend I tried to find out what was going in her mind, after 8 days since she announced BREAK , she told that friend that she is going to breakup with me at the end of one month, that really made me angry because 8 days had been really tough on me and I just couldn't take anymore, I was fearful of going that if I see her and stare her for too long then she will get another point to breakup with me, this was breaking me. 4 days after this I went in front of her when she was returning from a party with her friends that Included our common friend and I stopped her and asked her to just talk to me and say what she wants to, she argued , she blamed me , and then she started crying and I just couldn't she her cry like that , and I just didn't want to be the bad guy in her life , I didn't want to be reason she is so sad, and I agreed to her breaking up with me. We walked for hours after that and I explained in every possible way that there must be some misunderstanding but she was so adamant, she said a lot of hurtful things in a calm way, but I just kept it all together because I didn't want to hurt her and made her feel like she was right.
we decided to keep talking and I was as nice as I could be , but she was rude at times, and she started talking about our breaking , saying that she is "Single" now to her friends, and she was never even so outgoing or extrovert to reveal things so fast. She would at times be really rude to me that I should be grateful that she is still talking to me, so one day I just released it all, all the pain and anger, told her that she was wrong in breaking up and the way she did it was cruel. we stopped talking.
Later on she agreed that she should not have asked for break, that her actions and behavior hurt me and so on but still she would act really rude just a day after saying these things and surprisingly the innocent and kind person that I thought her to be said to me that it's her choice who she dates, and "You can't stop me from moving on" that's my choice and she said to me because I was shocked that "You don't understand these things , there are many things like moving-on & REBOUNDS" , ( this is 2 weeks after the breakup), this is the day I lost all trust in her and to be honest all my respect for her, from this day on all my arguments with her was to get some closure I just wanted to understand, why would she do it, she never gave me closure.
there were many times after that when she was very nice and apologized for everything, said that I am someone really important in her life but she can't be in a relationship because she is not ready now but soon after that she would argue with me and act rude, I was not very nice too, after I lost all trust I was always really anxious, I used to feel very good when she would understand me and understand my situation so I would forget everything but soon after that she would just act really rude and distant, the text messages all of it was just a nightmare, waiting for her to reply.
I never felt this broken in my life, I used to be really ambitious and confident, and during all these traumatic events I considered ending it all many times because with the relationship everything else went downhill too, my acads, career, health. I even started smoking (which feels so stupid, people thing it was because of her but it was just at this point I lost all hope from life because I messed up so much).
It's been a year almost (8-9 months ) since our breakup but I still can't get over what happened, I still can't look at her in class, all I want to know is that Did I really deserve this? Was I really wrong for bothering her after the breakup for closure, in my opinion, I did "bother" her many times after the breakup for some closure, everytime she would either agree to everything I said or present something like we can keep talking or something like that, or sometimes just say she doesn't have the answer but never really gave me any closure.
She said that I am old fashioned and not "modern" to be still hung up on her and not moving on , I don't know if she is right or not because I have always been insecure about this, because I grew up in a small town in very backward state so maybe she is right I am too orthodox, and maybe she is right that that day I didn't treat her well and that's why breaking up was right but I don't know anymore. Am I even right in hating her for doing this or I am one of those guys who just curses their ex after a breakup, I am really just toxic and narcissistic, I just need validation of either of my theory just tell me what I should believe because I don't know anymore, I have been overthinking this for many nights, I have read so many Psychological blogs and seen many videos, what am I ? A toxic , narcissistic Red flag and she was right in just leaving me one day.
To all the modern people her, it's just normal for a girl to just leave you one day because you had a heated argument? They can end everything and hence you lose all "right" to be around them ? to ask them to talk to you ? or to resolve issues. isn't this a torture? I felt it to be torturous and I felt the urge to end it all because it came from someone who I admired a lot, who I adored, cared about her more than anything.

Heya! This is F4M because I'm a tomboy and I have always gotten along better with and always have had more in common with guys than with other girls. I'm not looking for dating, (although that could change in the future, no promises) just friends at the moment please!
So, I've been lonely and spending a lot of time by myself lately and I figured I should try and make some new friends (21+ please, I can't relate with teenagers, sorry)! I mostly communicate on Discord and/or Steam through texting and voice chat, being a gamer and all lol. I'm based in Ohio but I'm totally cool with online friendships from anywhere! If it matters, I'm pale, short, and average weight (5'2" and 115lbs.) I'm not a smoketoker and I occasionally will drink socially, but only if the other person/people are comfortable with it.
I have a fair amount of games, mostly singleplayer stuff like Bioshock, Dishonored, Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, Ghostrunner, Skyrim, SOMA, Metro, STALKER, that sort of thing, but I also do some multiplayer ones we can do together like Deep Rock Galactic, Baldur's Gate 3, Risk of Rain 2, Halo MCC, Project Zomboid, Ready or Not, Path of Titans, Golf With Your Friends, Left 4 Dead 2, Dying Light 1&2, No Man's Sky, Project Ascension WoW (a private server basically), and even Warcraft 3 (a childhood favorite of mine!) I also have some I haven't dabbled much in like Rainbow Six, Titanfall 2 MP, Hell Let Loose, Arma 3, Mortal Kombat X, Pavlov VR (yes I have a headset, I use it maybe once or twice a year though lol). I mostly like narrative/story, RTS, roguelike, horror, survival, and co-op games. Sometimes FPS too. I'm an ex-Riot fan and a ex-Blizzard fan (sad trumpets playing Taps, bweh bwehhh.) There's more games I have I'm probably forgetting about, those are just some big examples.
As for movies, I like pretty much everything! Western films, artsy fartsy foriegn films, detective noirs, action movies, horror, romance, historical fiction, documentaries, whatever. Anything from Life Of Brian to The Devil All The Time! I have a soft spot for classics and monster movies (Alien and Godzilla are some of my favorite franchises and I have posters in my room!) Currently I'm in season 2 of Vikings and am waiting for the next season of The Boys, and would love recommendations for other shows to try out, bonus points if you'd watch them with me!
For other interests, I like creative stuff like music, reading, writing, drawing, etc. but I also like dinosaurs/paleontology and history, especially ancient civilizations. Science in general fascinates me and I almost got into quantum physics but turned a different corner in life, lol. I love renaissance festivals and cosplay/LARP (though I haven't gotten into it myself yet, I just attend events as a normal modern person, but I'd love to go in character someday!) And yes, I'm a rootin' tootin' American that thinks guns are Pretty Awesome and I'd love to learn more about them and maybe someday start going to ranges or maybe even hunting one day! I'm also curious about Warhammer 40k and would love to get more into it. I don't know very much about it but I do know the fanspace is kinda imploding right now because of, erm, recent events. Smh they couldn't just let Henry Cavil do his thing, huh?
I did at one point like anime and manga but I've kind of grown out of it. I'm not opposed to dipping my toes back in every once in a while and I do still have my old manga collections, but it's not a big thing I'm into anymore.
I will say that while I'm mostly looking for friends to game together with and watch movies/shows with, I'd prefer if we weren't too different in morals/values since I've tried making friends with opposites all my life and it never went well and was always tense (I'm right-leaning with conservative/traditional values.) I don't generally like talking about politics very much but I would like to finally have a friend that I can relate to, relax around, and feel the same way about political/social issues with.
Lastly, I have a deeper voice because of my personal medical history (I'm fine now, don't worry!), so hopefully that doesn't bother you too much! You're welcome to ask about it, it's just that this post is way too long already lmao.

2024.05.21 23:58 cestlamort_ boss keeps scheduling me outside my availability
I just started this new job 2 weeks ago and was super excited because it looks good on my resume, and it was a fresh start after leaving a not so great job. I’m also a student taking online classes so my availability is limited and I gave my availability to my boss at orientation. However, she scheduled me every single day that first week and I finally snapped and said something the second week when I saw she was about to do it again. She asked me to call her and expressed she wanted to schedule everyone respectfully. We went through the entire month of May and I felt she responded well. The rest of last week followed my availability. 
 However, I’m realizing she changed my schedule again for this week adding on a day I said no to and an extra hour on a day where I said I could only do mornings. That extra hour will make it so I have no time for lunch before I go to volunteer at the local children’s hospital, and it may even make me late. I’ve built a very strong rapport with the hospital over the last four months and do not want to damage that because my boss is inhibiting my ability to go there. Thankfully, volunteering is super flexible but showing up late/calling in/changing when I’ll come in every single week would not look good. I don’t get paid to volunteer but I want to work there one day, so this connection is super important to me. I also fear this will effect my schoolwork which is a big no no. I just made the dean’s list and don’t want to lose that. 
 I do think she is just struggling to juggle everyone, but I’m also like is she messing with me?? We JUST talked about this! She’s very nice to talk to and such, but she’s not respecting my time. I am hesitant to quit because I really do enjoy the job and it’s good for my overall career. But it’s only been two weeks and it’s already a persistent issue. My career will disappear altogether if I can’t do well in school or damage my best connection. 
 One of the main reasons I applied for this job besides building my resume was the flexibility it advertised. Idk what to do or how to address this again without sounding as peeved as I am. Is this really something I’ll have to remind her of every week? I know if I just don’t show up it’s an immediate fire, so there has to be a better way. I’ve never been fired from a job and would like to keep it that way. Do I go over her head? Do I leave? Are we at that point? Do I keep trying? Help!

I'm not a stan of any contestant and I'll try not to have a bias towards anyone while i post this.
 
I'm not criticising anyone for their personality but mostly for their hypocritical actions & words which is negatively impacting the show and majorly spoiling the vibes.
 
I know this is gonna be long, i might miss out a few points which you can add in comments , so please bear with me.
 
Mods, I'm not breaking any rules or abusing anyone here. Just stating my observations.
 
I'll state the good points too which i like about everybody. The negatives & the positives keep changing with every epsisode. So this is limited to what is up so far.
 
I'll keep the content limited to what i see in episodes as i don't follow the recent insta controversies much.
 
 Siwet : - Avoids situations & conversations and try to divert any actual blames with some past stories or fake sympathies. - Always up for fighting people in dome and get aggressive which is sooo overdone. - Let Anica speak ffs! - Call yourself a "performer" only when you actually perform ! - "Addy tune baakiyo ko pitch ki toh tujhe nahi liya" Wtf bro ? 
 
 
He tries to respect bonds, goes on a limb to save Aniket & Ayushman as much as he could. Did addy dirty a couple of times though.
 
Although everybody plans and plots, but plays game on face more than other contestants rather than hiding behind.
 
 Anica : - Stop victimising yourself so much that your emotions start looking washed out. - Grow out of the dependant personality. - "Brooo" and the 🤌🏻🤌🏻 are irritating af.
 
 
Haven't fucked up any task as such.
 
She doesn't bitch any wrong things about Lakshay and tries to maintain good relations which i find nice.
 
 Digvijay : - Stop with the hypocrisy! "Mai toh bolunga beech me" & "mere beech me mat bol" is plane stupid. - Although all ex-roadies & TRP contestants are getting majorly favoured, but his looks very clear with the out of nowhere saves & unfair ideal match contender when he was literally standing unsafe. - Stop using your friends (nayera to save, then demotivating her for dome which was logically right but could have been said subtly) (Gullu to write his name and then dumping her) (Akriti to save him and not sending her to den which i really loved tho XD ) - However true it maybe as well know, but calling out Prince to de-justify any other's spot was just purely out of jealousy and spite when he literally tried to do the same in roadies and outside.
 
 
Plays game straight forward out of all the others. No behind the back bullshit.
 
Beast performer 
 
Good at logics and strategies (asking Nayera not to go to the dome which almost eliminated Sachin if not for the twist) ik i contradicted myself but he could have talked it out better.
 
Never said anything wrong about his ex.
 
 Unnati : - although almost all the couples are fake and were pre-planned but having a bf outside and still coming to the show is a big NO NO ! - stop being so insecure dragging ishita in everything needs to stop when digvijay & ishita are literally showing no affections to each other (although i get the emotions & bringing exes was the whole point of this but still) - Crybaby over having no friends what?!
 
 
Chose a good partner is all i can say lol.
 
 Addy : - STOP flexing your steroids , losing temper every two seconds. - Grow a spine, "mai kabhi task nahi karunga iske saath" to "meri marzi mai jo karu"
 
 
Might turn out to be a good performer in strength based task, haven't had any yet.
 
Having survived so far and would survive further which is expected despite being all this stupidity, I'll count as a plus idk xD
 
 Kashish : - Stop being so horny all the time ffs, it's soo cringe. - This fake sophisticated queen aura needs to be stopped.

 Akriti : - Most cringe contestant of the whole show. - Majorly favoured by the show be it ideal match or screentime or VDs. - Crybaby max. Cry over sachin, cry over diggy allegations, cry over not being able to go to Loveden, cry over people calling her put and i can go on. - stop speaking in between everybody ffs. (she does it way far more than siwet & diggy) - Stop acting like a queen ffs it's so cringe. - stop with your "Maine aapko favour kiya aap mujhe favour lautao" . mat karo bhai favour fir . - Acts like a mastermind by saving diggy and then crying about it and bringing it up everytime.

 Arbaaz : - Being married and coming to the show? NOPEEEE. - Romance is so dead and fake . cringe.
 
 
No drama . Speaks as much needed and somehow still not hides in the crowd and have a more opinionated stand than adit & devkaran.
 
 Aniket : - Major toxicity alert! Messed up relationship, mean vibes and much controlling. - Maintains calm even when provoked . Tries not to involve people in his messed up connection (his fuckups actually) . 
 Deekila : - Dependant personality pro max. - Irritating to the ears once she starts shouting. - Forgiving aniket after whatver was revealed to us is the only truth takes heart and if she takes step to fix it , it's heartening to see. (although it's toxic and wrong but still)
 Lastly, i feel like this calling out was much needed. Akriti hate on this sub is justified, Digvijay worshipping is going too much and needs to be called out for his hypocrisy but i think is this sub is filled with his insta supporters now, dewangini-divyansh stupidity was needed to be called out for, ayushman and rigden hype is a yesss, nayera is underrated and siwet turns his unneccessary hate into completely neccessary with each episode and instagram oustide the show .
