Aetherians of the New Empire are banned from ever returning to Aetheria or from joining into the One. The border net is a solid wall to non-authorized Aetherians, impenetrable. The Elo Eloahim passes through the net without a hitch.
The Blade has now come to a full stop. The shuttle carrying Excelsior Andriel is docking with the Blade. Once the shuttle is cleared of occupants, it will return to the Elo Eloahim autonomously.
Excelsior Andriel has made his way back to the bridge of the Blade and is admiring the border net through the giant viewer screens. I haven't been out here for many strands. Beautiful to look at.
Send some technicals out to one of those nodes to have a look at it. I am sure it is manifest, but there must be a way to defeat it. I want to tear a hole in it, big enough to push the Blade through it, Andriel says.
There is only one express elevator that drops down to the 17th floor. The operator must enter a series of codes as the elevator descends. The codes are changed frequently like a password.
There are government secrets on 17 that can never be accessed by unauthorized personnel, says Steven as the elevator nears the bottom floor of the Pine Bluff underground base. The door opens and Nancy, Walter, Brad and the two techies spill out of the elevator to a large hall with long corridors running down each side. The footprint of the bottom floor covers about 120,000 square feet, about the size of a car factory or supersized retail store.
We have all your gear in a lab down this hallway, says Steven. We are anxious to see your device at work, Oscar says. Hey, do you guys want to see something really cool? Steven asks.
All three nod in unison. Great. Follow me, Steven says.
The group walks down a hall and enters a lab, lots of tables, computers, not much to see really. Up on one table is a group of long plastic tubes, 12 inches in diameter, maybe 4 or 5 feet long. You can see mirrors at the end.
Wow, this looks interesting, Walter says. You are looking at the real reason we went into Iraq. Saddam had this built from instructions found on ancient Sumerian clay tablets found near where Babylon once stood.
They called it the Looking Glass. Our CIA guys heard about it and had photos and diagrams of it smuggled out of Iraq. We recreated it out at Area 51, Groom Lake actually.
When they saw that it worked, the powers that be, Steven makes air quotes with his hands, decided to go in and get it. This is the real deal. The whole 9-11 scam was part of an elaborate plan to get this thing out of Iraq. That’s my opinion.
Plus other sundry items. Walter, Nancy, and Brad are just stunned. Steven turns on a light source that bounces around from mirror to mirror and ends up at a large concave mirror, 15 inches in diameter.
You can see faint moving images on the mirror's surface that look like old 8mm grainy film. It looks like rioting in the streets, store shelves empty, a stark apocalyptic scene. Large crowds gather around the U.S. Capitol building and the Vatican.
Steven, where are these images coming from? Brad asks. From the future? Steven responds. No? Brad says. Yes, from the future. Steven says.
Somehow, light being moved over all these mirrored surfaces breaks out a light that is streaming in from the future. Walter moves in closer. So are these images just random snippets? Or are they organized in some manner? Walter questions.
The best we can tell is that they are like listening to an old AM radio at night. Stations from far away can drown out stations that are close by. Just sort of a jumble of music coming in and fading out.
It seems that the images are from different points in the future. One may be 5 years out and the next 50 years away, Steven says. So, what is so important about it, Nancy asks? Think about it, Nancy, having advanced warning of coming events.
Plus, many times we can see advanced technology. It's priceless, Oscar says as he reaches over and turns off the device. The one big drawback, however, is that, just us witnessing of these events will change them.
It's a very tight loop. We have been shooting video from the big mirror. When we compare previously shot video from images from the look in glass, they are different.
Some in subtle ways and others in major ways. Simply observing the future changes it. So we only keep it on for brief periods until we understand this phenomenon better, Steven concludes. Okay, let's get you guys settled into your lab. I am really looking forward to learning more about this superlight. Our world is amazing, isn't it? Steven says,
Washington DC is spectacular at sundown. The lights from the monuments and government buildings make for dramatic and exciting backdrop for the world leaders and dignitaries that visit, as well as the everyday politicians that haunt the city. A group of high-powered cabinet secretaries and military bosses have sit down for an emergency meeting with the president. Gentlemen, greetings and thank you for coming up here to the White House on such short notice.
I have been receiving phone calls and veiled threats from world leaders all day. Number one, what is all this fuss really all about? And secondly, what is going to be our stance in regards to this crazy technology, which I have heard very little about? Are we just going to take it from a private company and turn it over to all the governments of the world? The president asks out of breath, Mr. President, if I may, says Senator Abramson, who is seated on one of the two sofas just in front of the president's big resolute desk. I believe I was the first one to hear of this device.
I heard from a doctor that works at the company, one of my constituents. He came to me frantic and told me many details about this device. He had the presence of mind to film an experiment he participated in, shot on his cell phone.
I was so concerned about this horror show being in my district, I contacted the FBI director to look into it, for I thought it was a national security risk at the highest degree. The FBI director sent in a team with a warrant to seize any and all evidence related to the Superlight project. Brad Hillier, the company CEO, was one step ahead of us and had already moved all key components of the device and associated files and plans.
We have no leads at the moment as too where he and members of his staff are hiding out. I would like to offer whatever assistance I can, being that this thing was created in my district. I would like to help if I can.
Thank you, Senator. We can use all the help we can get. I want to thank you all again for coming up, and I would like to suggest that each of you consult with your respective departments and get me a letter that lays out your thoughts on how to proceed with this situation.
Please give me something by the end of tomorrow. I will then be better informed on my decisions on how to deal with this issue. Thank you all for coming.
All the attendants stand and stream out of the Oval Office. Ed Bramson hangs back. Mr. President, I had a deep black officer from the Space Force speak to my oversight committee, and she let it be known that she knew about Hilliard before any of this became public.
I have no way of getting to her. But I thought you should know, she may have information regarding Hilliard. Very interesting, Senator.
I will try looking under some rugs. But as you know, I have little authorization over deep black project sites or the people that run them. Please stay in contact, Senator.
Atlan, the home world of the Aetherians, is the seat of the Old Dominion. The large planet sits just outside the massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, in a large cluster of stars orbiting the event horizon. The light from all the nearby stars eliminate all darkness.
Every planet in this cluster is lit every hour, all over the globe by multiple stars. Massive bright stars can be seen in every direction. Humans could not exist here, the heat and radiation would evaporate the water in a human body in seconds.
But it's paradise to the Aetherians that dwell here. An indescribable garden, hundreds of millions of vast mansion homes with complex landscaping. There are over 100 planets inhabited by the Aetherians in this sector.
One more beautiful and amazing as the next, Atlan is home to the One. The One walks these gardens from time to time, and abides in a mountain compound known as Shiloe Ahim. Ambassador Lucentel the hand of the One, is an Ark ancestor.
He was with the One long before the Matterverse was spoken into existence. There are a small number of Ark ancestors, as many as 100 are known to live. The Akashe, the Ancient Hall of Records, holds records telling the story of the One and the Ark ancestors alone on Atlan.
The Ark ancestors wanted a family and asked the One to enrich them with sons. The One said he would extract a small spark of himself and release it as a son for each Ark ancestor. Many years later, the Ark ancestors developed the ability to petition the One for new sons and daughters.
The sons and daughters of the Ark ancestors are slightly less powerful than the Ark ancestors. Over billions of years, the eternal Aetherians have multiplied into trillions of beings and lower beings. The lower beings take the form of many exotic creatures that inhabit thousands of planets scattered across the Aetherians' Old Dominion.
Atlan is standing by to receive us, Ambassador, announces the Commander on duty. Please dock and secure the Elo-Eloahim. I would like to travel down to Atlan as soon as possible.
Brad, Nancy, and Walter have finished setting up the superlight in the big lab that Steven and Oscar gave them. Brad, you need to see the footage I shot of you while you were sleeping in the van. The interview I did with your driver, Zia, Nancy says.
What? You interviewed my driver? Brad says surprised. Yes, when you were asleep in the van, Nancy says, as she is cutting up the video footage. Okay, here we go.
Brad is watching the video, riveted by it. He turns it off. Well? Nancy asks. It's nice, I always wanted a daughter, Brad giggles.
I am sorry this shit is so crazy that if I don't laugh, I would cry. We haven't peeled back even one layer of this onion yet, and it's already difficult to keep up with. When I came out here with Archer on his private plane, Captain Carpenter introduced me to her little grey alien friends.
We flew aboard a small silver disc-shaped craft to their home base, that sits out around the rings of Saturn. Nancy looks right at Brad. Stop Brad, are you high right now?.
Brad pauses, don't you remember at lunch, Captain Carpenter said I would bring you up to speed. Well, I am bringing you up to speed right now. Drivers, waterbots, now grey aliens and UFO discs, what's next? Nancy asks with indigence.
Brad says, who knew a high-frequency light designed to see cracks in critical aircraft components and machinery would cause intergalactic turmoil. So as I was saying, my understanding is that the Superlight is a threat to a huge data collecting operation that these high freaks have been doing for eons. High freaks? Walter asks puzzled.
Oh, that's just a name I gave them. They are the beings that inhabit the realm that we see with the Superlight. They function at a super high frequency of light.
Their world is as real as ours, just operating at a higher frequency. Without the advent of the Superlight, we would never know that they are all around us and strewn all across the universe, Brad continues. The high freaks drive avatars or waterbots as Zia calls us, without our knowledge, so they can collect millions of terabytes from hundreds of telemetry points during the lifetime of the avatar.
It seems that the traveler or waterbot is just a spacesuit, be it an advanced one for the high freaks, Brad concludes. So the superlight reveals this relationship to the travelers, and that is what they are concerned about. Follow the money.

2024.05.21 16:13 redditscrat Introducing MindTree: A Mindmap Plugin for ChatGPT and a New Development Pattern

I create a free chrome plugin named MindTree which create visual mindmaps for brainstorming, outlining, planning, and learning without leaving ChatGPT. As a visual thinker and learner, I have a preference for grasping the big picture before delving into specific details. I liken this process to zooming in and out.
While ChatGPT is incredibly useful in providing both an overview and detailed information on various subjects promptly, I've noticed that the conversations with ChatGPT can be somewhat disjointed and lack structure. Responses related to the same topic are often scattered throughout the chat, requiring users to scroll up and down to locate them. This can become increasingly challenging as the chat accumulates more messages, leading to repeated questions or the initiation of new chats which are not necessary.
MindTree addresses these issues by transforming the conversational flow into a visually organized mind map. With MindTree, users can view the big picture while having every detailed conversation with ChatGPT linked to specific nodes on the mind map, conveniently accessible on the right side of the interface.
However, the primary focus of this post is not about MindTree. During the development of MindTree, I unearthed and validated a pattern that could assist you in creating your next exceptional AI tool. Although ChatGPT is a chat-oriented application, chatting might not always be the optimal method to address problems due to its lack of an efficient UI for specific tasks—especially those requiring complex interactions and visual representations, like mind mapping. Furthermore, it lacks the capacity to integrate external services. While GPTs can call actions outside of ChatGPT, they are confined by the linear chat interaction style. This limitation has led to the proliferation of AI tools utilizing LLM APIs, such as OpenAI and Anthropic, which offer user-friendly UIs tailored to specific tasks. While these tools are fantastic (I utilize many myself), why not achieve similar outcomes by seamlessly integrating with ChatGPT through a browser plugin at no cost, like the free MindTree?
So what's the pattern? By adding hooks into the chat messages, you can transform the linear, unstructured chat messages into a structured database, like a time series or log database, then you can develop a user-friendly UI to access or manipulate this database. This approach grants you a powerful AI backend—the ChatGPT—at zero cost, coupled with a sleek UI designed for specialized tasks directly within ChatGPT, eliminating the need for switching to other paid tools. Additionally, you can integrate various services to enhance your plugin; for instance, seamlessly connecting with Google Drive to provide ChatGPT with documents without the hassle of downloading and uploading.
While this pattern may not be universally applicable—for instance, for tasks necessitating complex or concurrent workflows like AI agents, where ChatGPT can only process one message at a time—it remains well-suited for numerous tasks. I hope this will help you create your next awesome AI tool.😄

2024.05.21 16:11 CatalanHeralder Help blazoning pseudo-coat of arms

Help blazoning pseudo-coat of arms
My grandmother belongs to a well traced landowing family in central Catalonia (Spain). The family tree goes up to 1494, which is when her first known ancestor was given a farmhouse (previously fortified) and surrounding lands by the lord of Rajadell. The surname is Masana, and the farmhouse, now known as Can Masana (Masana's House) used to be called Mas Cirera (Cherry Farmhouse).
There is a painting in the house (image below), nobody knows when it was done or what it means, the winning theory is that it represents a hand holding cherries. Anyway, that has sort of become the family symbol and I wanted to turn it into a coat of arms (image below too), but I have a couple of questions:
  1. Would the breaking of the rule of tincture we see be allowed? I know you can break it for little details, or if you blazon something as proper, so just wondering what you guys think!
  2. Could you please help me blazon it all? I think I could do the basics, but I have no idea how to clarify about the white band in the blue sleeve, the fact that the hand appears from the bottom left, the two leaves, the stem dividing into 3, the cherries being in chief, etc. (I know sometimes blazons aren't supposed to be 100% exact to the detail so let me know if that's the case for some of what I'm asking).
Thank you very much

2024.05.21 15:58 InTheDarknesBindThem My thoughts on AGI

Let me first start by saying that these are just me exploring my ideas on the topic of AGI and the current state of the art. I am not trying to convince you to agree with me, I just want to have a casual conversation and see what others think of my ideas.

First is my definition and thoughts on General Intelligence (GI)

I want to preface this by saying there is not much agreement on the definition of GI and therefore I provide my own. Disagree if you like, but please read the rest knowing what I mean when I use that term.
General intelligence is the ability of a problem solver to engage with completely new problems (to it), and crucially to be able to recognize its own failings, formulate a plan to overcome those failings, implement that plan, and ultimately rinse and repeat until a valid solution is found.
This can be further broken into two major kinds of plans. The first is to check if knowledge of solutions to this kind of problem already exist in the world and to seek out and incorporate that knowledge. The second, and ultimately only important kind is when no existing solutions exist. The GI must attempt to model the problem following a varied field of possible solutions then explore those areas. Usually this occurs in many steps of explore and validation. This kind of exploration of possibilities is the core feature of solving new problems. It fundamentally requires “imagination” which is a loaded word so I will also define it here
Imagination in this context means the ability to predict ways the world might work which are not necessarily real and which may have only a very loose connection to existing understanding. In other words, to solve problems generally we need a way to make “random” leaps into a possible solution space near the border of this far explored and validated solution space, then to check if those leaps land in places which match how the world is known to work (aka. A hypothesis followed by testing).
How do we (humans) make leaps into solution space? Thats an open question.
I do not think the current strategy of train then run AI can actually achieve this. We need AIs which are both training and working at the same time, the AI needs to be able to genuinely modify itself to approach situations differently across many attempts.

Are individual humans capable of GI?

Can humans even really do that? I mean can a singular human really solve different novel problems? It seems that virtually every solution humans have managed was in fact a group effort, building on others.
On reflection I think humans are capable of the above concept of making leaps into the solution space, and this is the core of GI. But I think most humans only make one, or two, leaps on any single problem. Most make an intuitive (aka, completely hidden to our conscience mind) assumption about the solution then spend a lot of time trying to show how it does match a real solution to the problem. Some people may explore a few ideas in this intuitive leaping but often settle on one. It is truly the exception that a human explore dozens or hundreds of jumps into the solution space. In fact, I doubt any human has done more than 10 on one problem. Instead we make progress by more than one human trying to make leaps. This, while individual humans are capable of GI it is only really in the collective that we solve difficult new problems.
What does this mean to AGI? I think it means we may be being unreasonable and unrealistic to expect a single AI entity to be capable of solving problems generally..or it means that an AGI would have to be more inventive or have better imagination (see above definition) than any one human. But I expect this would be hard as I think the variety of imagination in humans is actually a product of their genetics and life, so one AI is not likely to have the variety in parameters needed to make hundreds of different leaps into the solution space and we may in fact need AIs which are not all just clones from the same training to solve problems in a collective manner as we do. Although perhaps we could package many minds into one external interface to give the illusion of an individual.

Are we close to AGI?

I do not think we are as close as others. Definitely GPT4o is not it and I think the entire current method of making these AIs will fail to yield GI as we know it. I cant say how far off we are, but I dont think its in the next 5 years due to "barking up the wrong tree". I do not think the train then run model can work for GI.
However, I don't think GI is needed for AI to disrupt the world.
I believe advancements along our current path of non-general artificial intelligence will still be completely disruptive to our society.
I think AI of the current and near future will be able to do anything we already know how to do, but faster, more reliably, and cheaper. This alone will change the world to one where all “menial” mental tasks are meaningless. This will still cause a singularity, just not a super intelligence singularity.
All value will shift onto new solutions until we solve the last problem we will ever solve, how to make machines with GI.
Thanks for reading.

2024.05.21 15:54 throwaway_311728 I'm feeling neglected by my lifelong friend group, but I can't talk to them about it.

I wanna just preface by saying that I know I'm partially responsible for this shift in dynamic; I've always been an introvert and not always the most stellar friend because of it. I've said no to plans, I've bailed, shit happens, right? I know that's on me. Relationships go both ways. I'm at the point where I'm afraid to try and take the initiative, though. I'm afraid of the potential rejection.
My core friend group is my three siblings and our partners. I'm only actual literal siblings to one of them, the other two are my cousins (and siblings to each other), but we're close as can be and have been our whole lives. Our moms (sisters) are each other's best friend and their respective firstborns (one of whom is me) were born only six weeks apart from each other. We have a lot of cousins but we're separated enough from the closest ones to our ages that we were always our own little "demographic" in the family, so to speak.
I'm very close with my sibling, and despite my cousins being the only cousins who lived out of town growing up, almost an hour away, they're the ones we saw the most. We did everything together. The four of us share so many memories. I love them all dearly. We're all grown up now, we all have a partner and are either married or engaged by this point, and I love all the plus ones too!
But
I've always been a shy and introverted person. My siblings, I was NEVER timid with; I'm effortlessly comfortable with them, always have been. But, being the type of introvert who can be drained by social situations, as I got older and had to work soul crushing jobs, and ESPECIALLY when I had a job with wildly unpredictable hours making it difficult to make/stick to plans, I didn't always say yes to invites.
Saying that, I see how it's not totally fair. They've all cancelled plans too, it's normal. But something is different with me. Something changed. The first time I felt left out, we were teenagers and I was waiting for them to call me to hang out at the mall, and they neglected to do so. When I called them, they were all already there. Without me. I was devastated.
That's just a one-off mistake though. As we grew older and were able to drive ourselves to places I like to think we did a lot together. Fishing, hiking, board game nights, movies, just hanging out. But then covid hit, and something is different now.
Along with the pandemic came the most difficult period of my life. I was going through the grueling process of helping my once long-distance partner immigrate so we could be together, and I was facing severe emotional abuse at the hands of another friend group. I was just so... defeated a lot of the time. Tired. Hating myself. Struggling to get out of bed some days. Just wanting to stew in my misery. Quarantine made it harder, because even the option to see them all was gone.
My sibling was the only one able to attend my wedding when we had to uninvite everyone. Fine, that's nobody's fault. It sucks, it hurts, but I get it. I don't really have the right to complain, and I don't want to anyway, I don't blame anybody.
It was because of social restrictions that I was the only one not there for my cousin's proposal. I understand why I was the one left out, but fuck, it still hurt. I'm the only one of the four of us who had no part in cousin's wedding. I understand not being part of the wedding party, but I wasn't ever even asked to help with... anything. Not even just decorating the hall. They all stayed in a cabin the night before, which I understand where I wasn't part of the party, I wasn't part of that but... Fuck I didn't even KNOW I was the only one left out until the day of, made all the worse with my partner not being able to attend. I'd never felt so alone in such a big crowd. But, that day wasn't about me. I hid and had a little cry but I pulled it together and got through it. I had to leave early to catch a flight, so I missed the real party, but again that's nobody's fault. And I don't want to make anyone feel bad about how sad it all made me. I don't want to sour that day.
A little while ago, cousin invited me over for some gaming, and I had to cancel last minute due to a migraine. I felt awful and apologized profusely. They and my sibling played together another day instead, I later learned.
More recently, I heard my sibling mention in passing that there was a day out fishing with cousin. We used to do that together, all three of us. Why wasn't I invited? But these two are the best friends you'd ever see, and I get they wanna do things together themselves sometimes.
Last week, cousin invited me to a board game night, but my partner was working and I didn't wanna be a third wheel with cousin and his spouse having just had some devastating news. I'd only just heard of said news a few hours before and was admittedly afraid of the idea of being the only other one there but... Turns out I'd've been the fifth wheel. I wish I had known. I would've gone.
This weekend, we lit our firepit for the first time and I asked in the group chat if anyone wanted to come and hang out. No takers. That's ok, it was very last minute anyway. Maybe another time.
Just today. Pictures on FB. Cousin took a week-long vacation and the others joined up with them now and then. Fishing, hiking, just hanging out.
I read this awful post once. "Every group chat has a second group chat excluding one member. If you're not part of that chat, it's you."
It's me.
But I have no right to complain. Like I said, cousin got some bad news and I don't want to pile on. My sibling's wedding is being complicated by in-law drama, so now's not the time to be sad over my ruined nuptials. That trip was about my cousin's partner proposing to her, I shouldn't make it about me. My spouse is a total homebody, he's not too bothered that as my plus one he's being excluded too. He knows I'm hurt by these things, but I don't want to worry him when he's adjusting to the stresses of a new job, so I can't talk about it like this with him right now.
These are the main recent examples. I know this is just a few incidents. I know they might seem small or petty to some. I know I'm still loved... don't I? When I was beckoned to join my siblings for a photo at the wedding, just the core four of us and the bride... For a second there, a terrible fleeting moment, I didn't believe it was me they were beckoning. Why would they? It's me.
It's only me.
If they don't want me there for the good times, why would I ever want to burden them with my bad feelings.

2024.05.21 15:53 Grant-James_River282 Last vestige of 1950’s EE will be gone

https://ithacavoice.org/2024/05/cornell-plans-latest-addition-to-engineering-college/
Philips Hall used to be home of double E (our lingo for electrical engineering) and the connecting Upson Hall was home to CS. Of course, CS is now a 800 pound gorilla on its own with multiple buildings. After this $66 million renovation, Philips will cease to exist.
Now all Cornell needs to do is to replace those two last Stone Age relics ( Hollister and Carpenter), the modernization of Engineering Quad will finally be complete.

Small river birch with “mildew”
Small river birch with spots and mildew
We just planted this river birch last winter. It’s about 8 to 10 feet high. It’s in a fairly shady, damp area, lots of rain this spring, so haven’t been watering. A lot of the leaves are getting spots for this kind of heavy mildew coating. At the top I see clusters of leaves that are all wilted and gray. I’ve seen others ask online about this kind of leaf coating, with responses that range from fungi to aphids to spider mites. Any tree experts that can give me a sense of which is most likely? And what to do!? I love my river birch!
Light: shady in morning, partial sun later afternoon.

2024.05.21 15:33 FrogRedits Is it a bad thing that I hide my theriotypes?

So at the start of the year I came out as a Therian, and later so did two of my friends. At break in school, we would hang around a tree near the edge of the yard and do quads. So many people crowded around us in a circle yelling "FURRY!" Or barking/meowing at us. I've since then started hiding my theriotypes at school, because I don't want to be remembered as a furry forever. The "insults" of being a furry whenever I walk through the halls has almost stopped completely, but I occasionally get barked at. Is it a bad thing that I hide being a Therian, especially when I've just met a new Therian friend?

The Lord Provides - Out of the Blue
This is actually a reminder for myself.
See the plant over there 🪴 this plant is in a certain state of being. There is an image and feeling that it’s giving off… of either being a fully grown tree or a dead plant.
If it wears the FINAL image and feeling of a fully grown tree… the lord provides it with: sunlight, nutrients, everything it will need to reach that tall and final state. If it requires movers to take this plant from a pot to a secure soil, the Lord will provide it. He provides it all, to take it to the final image
If it’s carrying the FINAL image and feeling of a dead plant… the lord provided it with: lack of Sun, no water, no nutrients. Notice: it’s on the outside, things change; the plant did no action personally. Perhaps the lord provided it with a child who runs and uproots it. He will provide it with everything, all that it needs, to get it to the final form.
If your friend is inwardly having the FINAL image and feeling of health… the Lord will provide them with: positive energy, deep rest, total physical health and recovery (again, they didn’t personally take any actions to do this, the world will change to support them in this way), people who are inspired by their health, perhaps a delicious healthier store much cheaper and closer than their usual take out is opened, anything and everything to support their growth to achieve the final image will be provided
If your friend is inwardly wearing the FINAL Image and feeling of sadness: the lord will provide them with, people, events, ideas, movies, which sustain that in them, experiences which will give them that in its final image and form. All of these will come to them FROM THE OUTSIDE, randomly, perhaps someone even hurts them emotionally for no reason at all—they personally didn’t take any step to make that happen.
If your friend is inwardly wearing the FINAL feeling and image of being an artist, the lord will provide them with, patrons, inspiration, perhaps a studio, other artist friends, money to let them do this, events which they will be inclined to go to which will make them get to the final image. These things will come to them from the outside, they wouldn’t go and plan events. What is needed, by the intelligence of our Lord, he will give to us. We simply accept it like water and sun
If your friend is wearing the FINAL feeling and image of being financially wealthy, the lord will provide them with a larger form of income, with a new job, a book perhaps which inspires them, opportunities and events, all of which happen from the outside, they don’t quit their job or make any decisions like that.
If your friend is wearing the FINAL feeling and image of living in another country, the lord will provide them people, events, whatever needed be, a relative calling them, anything and everything they need to grow into that final image.
(Notice: how water and nutrients and sun—when the lord provides plants this thing… it effortlessly takes it up its body and does what it does. There is no energy use, it’s osmosis. It just happens. Just like that, when god provides you with your needs for that final image, whatever he gives, you will NATURALLY AND EFFORTLESSLY TAKE IT!)
And now notice this: like the plant and the tree… the Lord provides. And they are at his mercy. Trees don’t plan out or take DEFINITE ACTIONS, “okay I am going to TAKE this much nutrients, I will DO this, I will DO that, I must FIGURE OUT a way to GO to fertile land”. No. The lord provides them the nutrients, the sunlight, everything they need FROM OUTSIDE OF THEMSELVES; they don’t see any decisions, or actions. The sun comes to them. Someone comes and moves the plant to better ground. OTHERS DO THE ACTION. They simply receive. They simply RECEIVE. That’s all you do. They don’t toil and struggle to DO anything like humans have been taught. They simply receive, exactly what the Lord provides them, in faith that these things will get them to the final image.
This means: all of these incidents will happen OUT OF THE BLUE. Just like how trees cannot control the rainfall, or this or that. It just happens. You cannot DO something. If it’s in the final image and feeling for the tree to outgrow and be tall, the lord will provide whatever they will need to achieve that final result. And it will happen from the OUTSIDE and no action is done physically by them personally. Other things will move to them.
Let GOD give you what you need: don’t go out doing it. You don’t know what you need to get the final image; you may think you do, but like a plant, like a dog, like anything else… we must RECEIVE the nutrients that God provides: we must be passive. For God knows masterfully exactly the specific person you need to meet, the events you have to encounter to get to the end image: He will provide it all. (And you will be inclined to take these steps so naturally it will not feel like you’re DOING anything, it just happens, there won’t be effort involved in the process, no planning, just getting coffee or, if you had to do a certain task—JUST LIKE A PLANT EFFORTLESSLY RECEIVES THE WATER FROM ITS ROOTS, so too, you will effortlessly and unmistakably make the decisions when such events and decisions are required). You do not go out searching.. If we are open to receive, we will see —EVERYTHING we need to get there, will come to us. Just like rain, Sun, etc etc.
All of this will happen out of the blue, they will never happen due to a physical cause or decision you personally make. The cause is imaginal. Not physical.
We are children of God, have total power to change the image and feeling that this plant has, of that person has, or the love of your life has. Or your friends and family have. Whatever the final image and feeling is: the lord will provide everything.
We are children, inside God’s womb: He is our mother. And exactly how the child in a womb has a final end, the mother provided exactly what it needs… in that way, our Father in heaven will provide exactly what we need.

2024.05.21 15:13 loiwhat What's going with this tree?!?

What's going with this tree?!?
As the title states, I came across the branch of a tree that was coated or rotting with dark yellow goop. The material was soft and I used a stick to poke the branch. The very outer edge was soft. Is this rot that's only taking place on that one part?

“That’s strange,” Exar said a minute later, “I’m not picking up any of the satellite constellations. If it was just one of them knocked out, I’d put it down to a scheduled maintenance. But all of em? Fishy, that’s what it is.”
“I don’t understand,” Rene’s spirits plummeted at the news. He should have known it wouldn’t be so easy.
“Me neither, chief. But take it easy!” Exar assured him, “There’s an easy fix for that. Just hike me up someplace with better reception. Any place where we can get above all these damn trees is good.”
“I’m afraid that’s not exactly an option, noble Exar.”
Rene briefly summarized the situation, filling in the details whenever Exar interrupted him with a question, which was not often.
“Got it,” Exar said after listening attentively, “In short, you’ve got a tribe of devolved humanoids on your tail, also infected by the same parasitoids as our young miss over here. Comms are down, and our closest exfil point is at least thirty-nine klicks due southeast, where our friends, ‘the Fleet’, will be waiting for you.”
“How did you measure the distance so precisely?” Rene asked.
“The T.O.R.U. you were piloting is currently in power cycling mode, but it’s still sending out its mayday message for the repair crews. Judging by the fact that it ejected us via safety pod, the unit must’ve suffered potentially catastrophic damage to its subsystems. Not to worry, though. My inbuilt Geiger counter just gave the all-clear, so there was no meltdown in the reactor core.”
“The most pressing issue is that you have less than 72 hours’ worth of fungicidal doses left, and nothing with which to defend yourself but the monomachete from your kit. In addition, this young lady—”
“Zildiz,” Rene supplied him.
“My bad—Zildiz. I like it, very exotic. Zildiz belongs to a culture which behaves aggressively towards Exodus Industries development projects here on the ground. That everything?” Exar briskly concluded.
Rene nodded. Exar then immediately began outlining a plan of action. Their first priority was to gain altitude and establish communication with ‘Exodus Industries’, an entity which Rene assumed was the ancestor-gods’ equivalent to Fleet Command.
Exar would then signal for help using the spinning bowl (which it referred to as an ‘allcomm antenna’) and an interstellar shuttle would be sent to transport them to the one of the moons.
The moons! Rene was giddy at the prospect of becoming the first man to have returned to mankind’s celestial origin. He tried not to get his hopes too high, however, knowing life’s avowed fondness for ruining every dream a man ever had.
Failing that, Exar would use the high vantage point to triangulate their position using nearby geographic landmarks. Once they had their bearings, it would be a simple matter of hiking over to the nearest hardened base and knocking on the airlock doors.
“I must say, you’re taking all this bad news remarkably in stride, wise Exar,” he told the beeping sphere.
“Oh, puh-leeze! This ain’t my first rodeo, pardner. We E.X.A.R. units have dealt with far worse in our time.”
“Really? Worse than Arachnea?”
“Oh, is that what the kids are calling this place these days? Sure is catchier than 65 Syngman Bb, lemme tell ya. But yeah, this here is nuthin.”
Exar chuckled, a child amused by the backwardness of his senile grandparents.
“Alien plague strains from the thawed-out heart of an asteroid. Cosmophage armadas unleashed by rogue A.I. Not to mention all those privateer raids on the fringes of Pact space. We’ve dealt with them all, helped people survive through the worst the galaxy can throw at them. And with 95% success rate, too, if I may add,” Exar said somewhat immodestly, “Anywho, that’s enough of me jawing. Let’s go mobile, chief.”
“What, right now?”
“The mist’s our best shot, bo-sing. Natural concealment. No telling how long it’ll last.”
Before they left, Rene had Exar explain the functions of all the tools in the kit. The sphere confirmed what Rene had suspected: the slate fed on the radiance of the suns. Exar called it a ‘solar cell panel’. In turn, the pronged cords attached to the solar cell could transfer energy to artefact he wanted to use.
He connected the panel to the mysterious gauntlet with the underslung pipe, which Exar informed him was a ‘laser designator’, a tool meant for guiding in airdropped supplies or flying machines.
“It also doubles as a heat source. Just up the wattage on that sucker with the slide wheel on the edge of the hand. See it?”
Rene put on the gauntlet and activated it by means of a green switch under the thumb. A tight needle of red light shone from the tube, and Rene understood that it was basically like the electrochemical torches that miners used. When he adjusted the slide wheel the needle of light narrowed and grew brighter. Where it touched the granite walls of the burrow there, sour-smelling wisps of smoke rose.
Hot enough to scorch stone? He would have to be careful where he pointed this.
“Go easy on it, though,” Exar advised him, “That kinda power output will drain the juice in a jiffy.”
“The juice?” Rene repeated stupidly.
Exar made it clear to him that the artefacts could store ‘the juice’ from the panel. Moreover, the panel could be mounted on the front or the back of the jumpsuit by means of the same backpack rigging that held the breathing apparatus, allowing the user to collect the juice and charge up to two devices (Exar included) even while on the move. Even the bulky survival kit could be could be fastened to his loadout with a set of clasps at the bottom of the pack which Rene hadn’t noticed.
“As for me, I can hitch a ride on your backpack as well,” Exar told him brightly. And indeed, there was a spherical indentation above the breathing apparatus where Exar could fasten himself in with his stubby spike legs.
Rene whistled appreciatively at the compact nature of the jumpsuit’s design; the entire survival kit was so cleverly put together, a testament to the ancestor-gods’ practical mindset.
He secured his gear, choosing to split the juices between Exar and the gauntlet, and got ready to leave. Rene crouched at the hatch of the burrow like a man in a trench waiting for the shrill whistle that would propel him up and over into the desolate no-man’s land.
Then he noticed Zildiz still huddled in place, not even daring to look at him or the talking sphere. Rene had originally been grateful that Exar’s appearance had shut her up, but this state of catatonic shock of hers worried him.
“Coming?” he asked her.
“I’m not going anywhere with that…that thing!” she stated categorically.
“Was it something I said?” Exar sounded hurt.
“The simulacrum said it would cut me out of my exomorph. That would kill me, Fleet-man.”
“Madame, I got no intention of hurting you!” Exar protested, “But the fact is, you’re sick. The parasite’s attached to so many of the organs in your body, that I fear that it’s totally coopted their functions. Our people have the technology to reverse all that.”
“I will not heed the promises of a slaved intelligence!” she snapped.
Their argument was interrupted by a chorus of hair-raising screams from the jungle beyond. Even in those guttural, inhuman voices there was no mistaking the notes of grief and rage.
“They’ve found Kryptus,” Rene surmised, “Just like you said they would.”
“I take it the natives are restless,” Exar tittered nervously, “Tailo, methinks we gotta go.”
Rene saw Zildiz hesitate, weighing the balance of her fears and forming an internal consensus. He made a move to tip the scales in his favor, and spoke to her from the heart:
“Zildiz. I swear to you that as long as it is within my power to protect you, I will not allow you to come to harm. You are a prisoner of penultimate importance to the Fleet. I’d sooner die than fail in my mission to get you back to civilization. If you doubt my intentions, consider the fact that nobody in their right minds would’ve tried so hard to keep you alive, not unless they have very good reasons to do so.”
“I am not like the Leapers or your people, the Gallivants. I am a soldier of the Fleet, and my priority is the continuation of my species—our species,” he added firmly, “Now, I can’t begin to imagine what horrors and depravities your kind have suffered these past few centuries, or what the Vitalus has taught you to believe. But in my mind, we are all one people under the same god. If that god is the Vitalus, then it is clear that he hates us. Why else would he, in all his supposed omnipotence, condemn us to live in this unending state of warfare and ignorance? Why does he forbid the full use of the human intellect, the sole source of our comfort and security in an uncaring universe? Why must he despise us so?”
“I don’t know the answers to those questions. But I do know this: I do not hate you, Zildiz of the Gallivants. In fact, I would very much like to help you. Will you let me do that?”
Rene stood up and lifted the hatch, turning to offer her a hand.
“Besides! If you come with me, we can go ask the gods in person.”
This is certainly new, Zildiz thought, unsure of what to make of Rene’s offer. His suggestion of a pan-kindred alliance bound together by their shared ancestry was ridiculous, of course. She knew enough of the mathematical models and the general principles of nature to know that such an undertaking was doomed by definition. And yet here was an opportunity unlike any other.
Rene meant to take her to one of the last remaining holdfasts of the Betrayers. Who would have thought that those ancient demons were still clinging on to life, lurking in some nameless abyss, waiting for their chance to wreak one final act of vengeance upon an unsuspecting Arachnea.
And here she was, uniquely placed to destroy them all in one fell stroke. Once she was nestled in that abode of evil, a single transmission from her magnetosynaptic organ to the Vitalus was all it would take to bring Its righteous fury down upon them.
The rewards would be immense. At the very least they would make her a Matriarch. Her gilt helix would live on forever in the generations to come, her legacy enshrined in the undying architecture of the genome. Her children would never go hungry or cold for the rest of their lives. She and her brood could have their pick of exomorph grafts.
Infrared eyes for night stalking, hypo thorax stabilizer tendons for prolonged flight, extra waste ducts, subdermal heat signature regulators, biochemical afterburners to add thrust, not to mention a whole slew of offensive weaponry—nothing would be off the table!
All she had to do was take Rene’s hand.
She did. The Fleet-man lifted her up out of the burrow, trying not to look too surprised at her acceptance.
A very naïve race, she decided. He caught her calculating gaze and must have mistaken it for the beginnings of friendship, for he said:
“Glad to have you aboard, Zildiz. Now let’s get the hell out of here.”

2024.05.21 15:10 SneakyRhino94 Red Hand of Doom - Action Oriented Druid Lich

I'm running Red Hand of Doom in 5e, which is leading to a fair bit of legwork converting some monsters over from 3.5. I've created a homebrew statblock for the Ghostlord (Druid Lich / Blighter), mostly using actions stolen from the lich in MCDM's Flee Mortals and the Lichen Lich but with the damage toned down! Would love some feedback on how this looks. I'm running the game for a party of 5 level 6 PCs with a few too many magic items (especially ones that allow healing), who have recently started working as a well oiled tactical machine!
The Ghostlord - Monsters - Homebrew - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com)
I added the gems embedded within trees inside his lair so the PCs can choose to target them to stem the flow of minions if they think that's a priority. I am a bit concerned about the lair action summoning a shambling mound, but can't think of another monster less challenging that's still thematic without being underpowered.
The PCs do have the option to bypass the fight, as their enemies have his phylactery so if they rescue it he could be talked down. I plan on framing him as a reluctant participant and dropping some information beforehand to highlight this, so the party can hopefully figure this out up front and decide either way. If not it'll definitely be a very tough fight!

2024.05.21 15:09 Historical_Usual_261 Butler Hall, opinions?

Hello everyone,
I have reserved a one bedroom apartment for my partner and me in Butler Hall, 400 West 119th Street. I had other good options, but I couldn’t see any floor plans or pictures and this building had, at least, some pics of the entrance, hall and rooftop that looked nice and well maintained.
Has anyone lived or is living there?? The rooftop area, security 24/7 and amenities are appealing, but it seems very massive with a lot of units. Anyone can tell me how the apartments are??
Thank you!!

2024.05.21 15:05 Beginning_Tea_4967 Finished Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series and don’t know what to read next…

Help! I just finished the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and I'm not sure what to read next! I have recently read and enjoyed her other two series, Crescent City and ACOTAR, as well as: The Ending Fire Trilogy (Saara El-Arifi), Aurora's Angel (Emily Noon), Priory of the Orange Tree & A Day of Fallen Night (Samantha Shannon). I'm planning to read Samantha Shannon's The Bone Season series, but I'm waiting for the 10th anniversary editions to come out. I like a bit of romance but it's not required. Any suggestions?
Bonus points for diversity, female/queer authors, female characters, and LGBTQIA+ representation.
Thank you!

2024.05.21 15:02 oooooooooooui Char dham 2024 experience

We are 10 family members who booked this trip through a tour agency. My dadi(grandmother) is 76 years old with operation in both legs and a 3 year cancer patient. Our tour started at 11th May, 2024. We did the char dham in proper sequence (Yamnoutri -Gangotri- Kedarnath -Badrinath). We had a proper itinerary and online bookings done by the agency.
First we had a hotel booking in Barkot. The hotel was okay. they are extremely possessive about their towels with a rule- 1 towel per room??? I'm with my dadi and aunty in one room. They probably have a laundry problem or something but every single hotel has this nonsense rule. Anyways, next day 5am we left for Yamnoutri. Got stuck in a 5km long jam(Yamnoutri is 35km away) Me and my dad decided to walk it out. We covered 20km by 3pm however it started raining and couldn't continue ahead. We stayed in a tapri for 4 hours until the rain cleared. Our family was still stuck in traffic and hadn't reached even close to us. Now it's 8pm. We were supposed to be done with Yamnoutri and go back to our Barkot hotel. We had to cancel our Barkot bookings(and the hotel manager put all the bags of our 10 people in 1 room messing up everyones luggage). We booked another hotel at Sayanchatti were our family members reached at 11pm. Police management was utterly trash. I think even they were surprised with the amount of overcrowding. Next day we finally reached Yamnoutri. About the trek- the pathway/trail is full of shit. And I mean literally full of horse-poop. There are 700-1000 horses. Even after getting a horse, we had to wait 40mins for parchi and additional 1 hour(while on our horse) because of horse-jam. Yes there is a traffic jam of horses ON THE TREK. We wanted to walk but seeing the people who did walk, I was glad we didn't. The path is almost 3 meter wide with pithu, doly/palki, horses and people walking simultaneously. People who walked got continuously hit by horses and had to dirty their shoes in horse poop. We reached the temple finally, did Pooja, etc and managed to return Barkot where we had to re-book for another night. Our itinerary was already messed up at this point and money was wasted thrice (previous booking unattended in Barkot, the new booking in Sayanchatti and rebooking in Barkot). There is more like the incredibly risky horse route, etc but that's inevitable. I'm gonna continue with Gangotri.
We reached Maneri after struggling in jams for 7+ hours. We also did Uttarkashi before that. Ok so here the police had stopped us at checkpost and said cars are going in batches and if they let us go the jam ahead would only get worse. Now our hotel was 5 minutes(3km) by car from the checkpost. I went walking 3km and reached the hotel and there was absolutely no traffic like we told the police. We even showed them on Google maps. Traffic jams are understandable, but not letting us go after talking to the hotel owner, seeing proof that we won't contribute to traffic, that was a bit triggering. From police side it was just plain dumb. The commisioner there would keep talking his egoistical nonsense, not listening to anyone. Finally the rest of my family reached the hotel. Same issue with towels, rubbish beds, never ending insects and super unclean bathrooms with no pressure in water(flush, jets, bath, basin). Anyways, next day 12am we left for Gangotri with zero sleep because we are already behind our bookings and trying to avoid wasting more money. Got stuck in jam till 6am. [Also another note here, we had 2 private cars and one of the drivers was sleeping drunk and almost hit me and my mom. He hit a tempo traveller and we told him go back to sleep.] Finally reached Gangotri at 5:30pm, did our Pooja and then got in line for Darshan. My dadi and I got into the senior citizen line because she is 76 years old and can barely stand/walk in lines. Tilll now in the trip I don't completely blame the police for what was going on. But here in Gangotri, if anyone is going I am warning you, the police is rubbish. They are rude, tired with the crowd and very harsh and worst of all lazy. When u reach the main statue to go darshan, it's continuous pushing and almost a stampede, you cannot carry a baby or a old person there, they are garanteed to get hurt and the police won't care AT ALL. If you are lucky u might get to see the main statue of Ganga Mata for more than 4 seconds. After that we got back to our hotel in Maneri.
Next day we left for our hotel booking (adjusted by our agency) in Phata-Mankheda. Don't forget to go to Guptkashi before entering Phata. Here too same issues like 1 towel per room, charging points at the most unreachable locations in the room, etc. But this was still better than Maneri. Next morning 3am we left for Sonprayag. There is a line for your registration approval which goes on till Sitapur (2km from Sonprayag). People will continuously try to break and enter the line and there is almost a stampede and lot of heated crowd. After registration, you can go join 1km line for government taxi(50rs per head) from Sonprayag to Gaurikund. Anyways, after reaching Gaurikund there is a 1km inclined gali then the horses start.Remember this part. So here we again had to take a horse even tho we wanted to trek because at this point we were on 3-4hrs sleep everyday and our mental was very weak. We paid 6000rs per horse because it wasn't morning and the horse owner GARANTEED us all of my family members will be together, there will be one person per horse and that he already has the parchi. 5 of us had taken the horses and others went walking, palki and pithu. This path was again same as Yamnoutri or even worse. More horse-poop than ever, the sweepers there won't care and sweep the trash on you if u r in their way and continue doing so. People working there are literally illustrate and 'gouthi'. The horse owner didn't fulfil his promise either. There was 1 man handling 3 horses. The horses were going anywhere, hitting our legs on railings, other yatris, other horses etc. They told us to get down and walk 50m every time they saw police which is when we understood they didn't make a parchi. When we reached the top they demanded for the full money which they very very very obviously did not deserve for all their lies. When we said take 28k because anyways 2 of their men didn't come. They said give 30k else don't give anything at all. This childish, greedy attitude of theirs was again very triggering. We are not beggars and they are not doing us any favours so we still paid them the full amount. We are on a spiritual journey but since everything is about money from tourism, our spirit kept getting crushed. We had to spend the night at Kedarnath and our agency had booked us a dormitory. I warn anyone booking a dormitory, just don't. 30 unclean, continuously used beds, in one non- ventilation suffocating room with 1 Indian style toilet whose latch doesn't work shared with strangers. And the worst part is it is 1000rs per bed. I wouldn't pay 20rs for this rubbish service. At this point my spirit completely broke and I fell sick. I hadn't eaten anything and didn't want to. Next day my dad and I went down through horse at government rate (2300/). Others came in pithu and trek. Now came the worst part. The overcrord at the narrow 500m gali which i told u to remember above. Oh my God. After 22km Trek you are treated with this 0 management wild crowd. I had to take care of my dadi and fam from getting hurt. After reaching Gaurikund, again another 1.5km line with no special preference for senior citizens. Here people bribed the police 500rs to break and enter the line(happened right in front of me and my phone had no battery) When you reach the taxi finally, everyone tries to enter together and the police are just standing mutes. They are done with this💀. Finally got into the taxi, reached Sonprayag. Had to walk till Sitapur. Got a private taxi from there who demanded unreasonable price. We got mad and told him 4000rs till phata-mankheda(20km) which he then agreed to. Our hotel had changed to the worst possible hell of a hotel ever. I don't even want to talk about it. It has scarred me how people go about their business with 0 standards. At this point we just wanted to go home but Badrinath is left 😭
Ngl Badrinath tour was decent. Our hotel was in Piplakoti. Decent hotel called River view hotel. Roads are good. Only 4 hour line in Badrinath with heated crowd and 5 second darshan. At this point we are used to this so it's ok💀. Police was actually working and managing. Only issue we faced was directions from main road to the mandir and back. At night it gets very confusing.
Now I'd like to add, i haven't taken any names of hotels(except river view) or my tour agency because I don't mean any disrespect.
Uttrakhand is a beautiful beaitiful and amazing place with sceneries and memories I will carry with me forever. The sceneries while going to every dham are different and unique in their own way. Even just traveling from one dham to another by road is an amazing experience(excluding the jams).
I have some opinions- 1. Management is almost non-existent. Meet any Yatri and they will tell you the same. 2. Police are corrupt and lazy. Some try actively but that's like 10% of them. 3. The problem with hotels is that they are all on lease. I'll explain. The owner gives a person say Rahul their hotel on lease and asks for a certain amount per year. Rahul gets paid after that certain amount exceeds. Hotel bookings for char dham 6 months are always full. Rahul will always get this money and hence sees no need to maintain this hotel. So that's that. 4. Uttrakhand runs only and only on tourism and it is obvious. So as an individual tourist, you DO NOT matter. They don't care, they get people continuously. If your booking is cancelled there is always someone else to take it. You cannot talk sense to anyone running any type of service there. 5. Yamnoutri, Gangotri and Kedarnath roads for reaching there are narrow. Government should ban big buses permanently and is the best move they can make. These buses are 80% of the reasons for jams. They are improving roads but it's been 75+ years since independence so idk what they are doing. 6. Government should NOT take registrations when they cannot afford them. 27 Lakh registrations is not a joke. 2.8Lakh people in 4 days is not a joke. No one can manage this amount of people. Have a limit. People are spending lakhs of rupees coming from all over India for this and 90% of it is a bad experience. 7. Don't open all char dham together. This year's main issue was all 4 temples opened at the same date, 10th May. People were already ready and started rushing from 7-8th May.
Advice for Future Yatris- 1. Don't come in May. I had a compulsion so we had to. But everyone here says that the best months for char dham is September-October before Diwali. 2. If you do come in May, don't do online bookings. You need to be flexible with where you are gonna stay. 3. Carry a towel per person. Hotels are extremely possessive about their towels. 4. Leave early for every dham if you are committed to do all 4 of them. I've seen lot of people give up in jams. 5. Get warm clothes especially lot of socks and bring medicines, etc. Rain coats are ok but u need a poncho. Rain coats don't cover your bagpacks while trekking and even if they do, they will stretch and might tear. 6. Private cars/taxi yatri, spend a bit more and get a comfortable car. You will spend most of the time in your vehicle. Tempo travellers are extremely uncomfortable and avoid them. 7. Take cold water baths at colder places as warm water baths bring the blood vessels to skin level making it more sensitive later. You have to be mentally prepared before taking a cold water bath. 8. Weather changes like anything. Suncap and goggles are a must in day time. 9. If u get sick/stomach upset have black tea and biscuits. 10. Do private Pooja at Badrinath.
Good things- 1. The food is amazing. It's almost as good as homemade food. You can always tell the cook how you like your food. Do try the Vegetable Maggi at highecolder mountains. It's available everywhere. 2. Sceneries are amazing and don't forget to carry a proper camera. Phone tech these days is good too and will make photo-frame photos. 3. You will always find people to talk to. If you happen to find polite people, say the hotel cook or a homeguard or other yatris or anyone at all, you will have a good conversation. 4. The pandits are good and will only ask you to pay them if u want to for the Pooja. Always pay them. 5. No phone range. It's good so you live in the moment and can enjoy the amazing sceneries :)
I'm trying to be completely honest without involving any type of hate here and trying to paint a complete picture of what my journey was like. We had to go over budget(almost double) because we didn't know any of this even after research. Our tour agency didn't warn us about anything either. Only thing that matters is that you enter the holy grounds. You can expect amazing sceneries but not an amazing darshan in May. It's been a bittersweet journey and I am writing this while omw to home. I hope y'all find this helpful and plan accordingly only if you are going in May or peak season. Otherwise you might not face much issues in September. Thank you for reading.

2024.05.21 15:02 SneakyRhino94 Action Oriented Ghostlord

I've created a homebrew statblock for the Ghostlord, mostly using actions stolen from the lich in MCDM's Flee Mortals and the Lichen Lich but with the damage toned down! Would love some feedback on how this looks, or if anybody is interested in using it themselves. I'm running the game for a party of 5 players with a few too many magic items (especially ones that allow healing), who have recently started working as a well oiled tactical machine!
The party are travelling here before Rhest due to backstory reasons, so I plan on dropping some information beforehand about his phylactery. The party has a character local to the specific area and a druid, so good chances for some History checks! Hoping this means there's the opportunity for them to talk him down rather than being forced into a straight up fight.

2024.05.21 15:01 Jeko63 Welche Jobs werden nicht durch KI/AI ersetzt werden?

Hallo,

Pruning dragon tree
I need to prune these two dragon trees that I picked up from fb marketplace. I plan on sticking them in my poolside planters. Is it really just a matter of cutting the canes and sticking them into the soil? Or do I need to root them in water first?

2024.05.21 14:57 Reasonable-Link-3043 What is a Bunk Double in Howe Hall Bronson House?

I got a Bunk Double room in Howe Hall Bronson House for Fall 24. Based on the website pics of the Bunk Double (in Fountain House), it's a bunk bed which sits over a desk and dresser. Based on the Bronson House floor plan, it looks like the room is the same size as a Single Room so I can't figure out how they get 2 bunks in unless the room is really squished. https://cdn.dal.ca/content/dam/dalhousie/pdf/residence/Residence\_Floor\_Plans/Howe%20Hall%20-%20Bronson.pdf. Does anyone know?

2024.05.21 14:57 albert1165 Reuters: US ITC probes ArcelorMittal complaint that VinFast violated aluminum patents

WASHINGTON, May 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. International Trade Commission said Monday it is investigating a complaint filed by ArcelorMittal that Vietnamese automaker VinFast violated its patents related to high-strength aluminum and aluminum alloy-coated steel in imported vehicles.ArcelorMittal in April filed a complaint with the ITC and also filed suit against VinFast in U.S. District Court in California, accusing the automaker of violating its patents inits VF 8 vehicle.VinFast, which started to deliver its sport utility vehicle (SUV) VF 8 in California in 2023, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. VinFast plans to open its first North American manufacturing plant in North Carolina in 2025, which will produce the VF 8 and VF 9 models.ArcelorMittal first sent VinFast a letter in November 2022 asserting it was violating its patents but said VinFast has not sought a license. The company said it believes the VF 3, VF 6, VF 7, and VF 9 also infringe on its patents.ArcelorMittal purchased a VinFast VF 8 vehicle in May 2023 and then tested it as part of its patent infringement suit.

*****
We already know that ArcelorMittal submitted a request to US ITC few weeks ago. The new thing here is the US ITC has taken the request and opened a probe into the matter.
If they find out that Vinfast did indeed violate ArcelorMittal's patents, they could bar Vinfast's import into the US.
With clear evidence, it is likely that Vinfast will lose the case.
