Five Nights at Freddy's - The Kinnik Cut
An adaptation of "FNAF- the Analog Horror Cut" by BatMatt2300

The creator of "Asterix: Mission Cleopatra - As Close as You're Gonna Get, By Toutatis!", "City Hunter: The Cupid Fragrance - Mokkori Cut" and "Nights at the Museums - The Supercut Exhibition" is working on an adaptation of BatMatt2300's excellent Five Nights at Freddy's movie fanedit "The Analog Horror Cut"!
Now, a little background
I heard of five nights at freddy's before, and watched the mariplier playthrough from back then, but i never really got into it, thinking it was just some jumpscare game for kids and teens...that is, until i watched the analog horror VHS tapes on youtube by various users such as Valox, Battingtom and the controversial but brilliant Squimpus McGrimpus.
It got me interested in the FNAF lore, and then, i checked out BatMatt's analog horror cut back on the fanedit network. While i did appreciate it, i thought that BatMatt didn't go balls deep into the whole analog horror delirium, and i also thought that some things from the movie might have been cut more or perhaps moved to another place among the timeline, as well as lackong scenes that looked like gameplay so after receiving permission from BatMatt himself, i started working on my own version fo the Analog Horror Cut.
Main differences from BatMatt's cut:
-moved the first meeting with Vanessa towards night 1 and made the appropriate trims and edits to recontextualise it into night 1
-added footage from valox's "Bonnie" tape at the end of night 1.
-Added back footage from "Nonexistant Video" by Valox back into night 2, along with CCTV footage of the 1985 incident.
-added a completely new section to night 2 using "Pirate Cove pre-show" from Squimpus McGrimpus, footage from middle of the movie and the video "Night 2" by Valox
-Created completely new nights for Nights 3 and 4 using footage from both Valox, Memebear, Battington and McGrimpus videos
-completely cut the middle scene with max and the thieves.
-Created a new beginning for night 5 with a custom made sequence based on the video "Memories" by Squimpus McGrimpus.
I am currently doing Night 5 right now. Things are going really well. Feel free to ask me anything!

I am not a great gamer, or much of a talker or a girl, so chances are I won't be the next mariplier or whoever. but i am getting desperate and aggravated with work. i do like the idea of not having to work with others, and idk what even makes me happy anymore to pursue in another field of work...

yo ive always watched people like mariplier play fnaf and like i just decided i wanted to play the games. and dont ask why im starting with 6. but like its so fucking hard i can barely get through the 3rd night. so my question is. anyone got any tips for fnaf 6????

Description of the Problem: When I'm watching a video and alt-tab into my game and alt-tab out again into the video, chrome simply freezes including the video I'm watching but the sound plays normally. Chrome doesn't crash and I can still move and blindly interact with anything such as buttons (I can even pause and unpause the video) but I'm not able to see what is being done on my screen because it is frozen, unless I either wait for a couple of seconds OR minimize/shake the chrome to snap it out. I also noticed that if I do either of these "fixes", The video loads in with the circle loading icon of YouTube for half a second and it continues to play normally. The same goes for microsoft EDGE.

Disabling Hardware Acceleration seems to fix it but I feel like it weren't like this before even when it is enabled.

UPDATE: 1 - It also happens on Mariplier's videos
UPDATE: 2 - I tried booting up to my HDD's older OS with older gpu driver and tried to reproduce the problem but no signs of freezing. I think it has something to do with my OS now.
UPDATE 3 - I installed a much older version a driver (21.9.1) and it does not freeze anymore? Great but I have issues with this update that whenever I watch a video, eventually the brightness changes compared to newer updates of the driver.

There he was, Freddy Fazbear, on top of the stage. Little did everyone know what was about to happen would change Five Night's at Freddy's Lore. The year was 1987. Markiplier is in the audience with MatPat. Everyone was ready for the big show. It was a night such as we had never seen before. The stage lights were dark as the main performers were preparing to go on. The stage lights suddenly came on as Young Roscoe ran on stage and jumped into Young Bonnie's arms. Bonnie was not prepared for this. Chomp chomp chomp. She couldn't figure out what was happening. Some of the other kids walked out and joined Young Roscoe. Soon everyone on stage was hugging each other and embracing. Suddenly, the sound of thundering applause was heard. Everyone was calling for an encore. Young Bonnie ran to that corner and hid. The crowd started cheering for Bonnie and the stage lights came on again. From there, a wild hair walked onto the stage and chased down Bonnie. Laughter was heard as the crowd put bullets in the animatronics. The Foot quickly fumbled in the leg to give us our first glimpse of what was to come. When the Foot struck the stage, Young Roscoe leapt into the air. He didn't know who it was or why the monster was there. Once it came from the shadows, it revealed itself to be Balloon Boy. Pandemonium was in the air. People were yelling things like "Barbie bunny wants you, Bonnie bunny wants you", "Louder, Boo!
Ballon Boy was clearly upset, so he started yelling at the kids. The theater went crazy. All the kids yelling "New Carole! New Carole". As this began, Young Roscoe and Young Bonnie got to their feet. The crowd went crazy when the opening strains of Madonna's "Madonna Deez Nuts" began to play. The audience ran out of balloons and started to shout at the clowns, like "Good luck to balloons! The kids jumped a clown and what was left of it were a couple bones. Once the kids got a taste of blood, there was nothing that could stop them. The pandemonium didn't stop there, the venue was now destroyed. The clowns returned and started preparing the stage for Young Roscoe. Bonnie decided she wanted to return to her seat and Matpat saw that she had a better chance of surviving the onslaught.
MatPat had made a new friend, he told them "Welcome to Game Theory" and they helped each other, they turned the clowns around and the whole show was over in an instant. The audience fled in fear and excitement. Once to the parking lot, Markiplier and MatPat decided it was only best to go out for a bite. They put his guitar case next to the bed. Suddenly, the audience entered the theater and started setting fireworks out on the sidewalk. It was chaos. The clowns were still coming. Screams came from the crowd and Markiplier and MatPat left to go for a bite. When they did, they asked a fast-food kid with a broom to lead the way. They went to the front door. They noticed the kids headed for the same door as them. The fast-food kid found them and lead them in the right direction.
Little did MatPat and Markiplier know that the fast-food kid was secretly Young Roscoe the entire time. As they walked into the theater, Young Roscoe followed closely behind. That's how close they followed him. He stopped, turned around and greeted them as they looked around for Bonnie. Once they found her, Young Roscoe found Golden Freddy and put his hands up. a fit of amusement took over his body and said some words. Golden Freddy said "20/20/20/20 mode" Freddy then let go of the crowd so everyone could hug each other. At first, it looked as if the show was over. Then, something else happened. The clowns had learned their lesson. After an unusually long amount of hugging, Young Roscoe was hungry. But he wasn't hungry for a burger or anything, Young Roscoe was hungry for a child. Angle on. The auditorium door for the stage was thrown open and a little kid was discovered. This little kid had been been out on stage a few times already, and he became upset because it was now frozen time. "Let it go Let it go" said the kid who was about to be the victim of the Bite of 87. Young Roscoe went to bite him in his surprise. He soon caught a glimpse of his paw as it was just inches away from his mouth. There was a curse in his eyes. He decided to die. He got up in a tree. He had been bitten.
The kid was bitten by Young Roscoe.He was in serious pain and started wailing away. Markiplier saw this all happen in front of him. Mariplier had only one thing to say: "Fuck!""Was that the Bite of 87 kid cry for all the times he has been stuck in that tree? At first, it looked as if the show was over. The crowd noticed the kid crying for all the times stuck in the tree. One child could never stop crying after he was bitten. That kids name was Evan Afton. He cried for days and days, and days. This was to be his last show. As quickly as the show began, it ended. Afton stepped through the ropes one last time with his last cuss, his gloves still on. He stepped his gloves up screaming for all the time he has stuck his paws up in a tree. For the kid stuck up in the tree who couldn't die. Back to the hospital to look into the mirror and say "Man, was that the bite of 87?"

Theory: Jimmy's alter-ego represents how he is both a slave to his circumstances, and how he forfeits responsibility for his actions by blaming 'a dark force' like many other serial killers.

I was watching the GT Live playthrough of the game (and then had to switch over to Markiplier's Let's Play when I ran out of episodes) and, even though the consensus is that the antagonist Jimmy has Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly classified as Multiple Personality Disorder) or is being possessed by the ghost of his murdered father, I submit that Jimmy is suffering from a different disorder altogether or that the game is trying to communicate something else entirely regarding the nature of free choice, morality, and the personality of those individuals upon whom Jimmy's character is based.
During your first pass at the game, it's obvious that Jimmy is off-putting, to say the least; he seems to make advances on Maya despite being over 20 years her senior (something that becomes much more overt and uncomfortable at the game's climax), he's very awkward and seems socially maladjusted for his age (wearing an outdated bald wig cap even when not performing his egregious comedy routine), and cannot cope with rejection of any sort-- being spurned by Maya turning down his offer to attend his comedy act is the impetus for the entire series of events that follow.

I'll get my thoughts on this outta the way first, but it's just a bunch of fractured pieces right now.

• Why is there an entire storeroom with occult paraphenalia (oujiboard, spirit box, sage, the Necronomicon Sigil of Marutukku that wards off evil/ Society Against Evil 'logo')? Could Jimmy be trying to exorcise Hugo? He obviously has the spirit box and he keeps putting it in there, and I don't imagine his victims much want to commune with him.
• The ritualistic dialogue both Hugo the Great and Hugo Punch espouse regarding candles, flames, referencing hallways of the dead, ect.
• The weird Hugo the Great cutscene which is otherwise out of place and random, other than the fact that it introduces Hugo as a character before you get the opportunity to hear Rose's story.
• I don't know if there's any connection, but there is a historical figure named Hugo Groutis (who I guess had a nickname that roughly translated to "Hugo the Great") that was a prodigious Dutch polymath. I wonder if any of his works factor into this? His wiki article indicates that he wrote on natural law, stating "[a]mong those he influenced were Samuel Pufendorf and John Locke, and by way of these philosophers his thinking became part of the cultural background of the Glorious Revolution in England and the American Revolution.[30] In Grotius' understanding, nature was not an entity in itself, but God's creation. Therefore, his concept of natural law had a theological foundation.[31] The Old Testament contained moral precepts (e.g. the Decalogue), which Christ confirmed and therefore were still valid. They were useful in interpreting the content of natural law. Both Biblical revelation and natural law originated in God and could therefore not contradict each other..."
  • Kind of interesting how, in the game, Hugo is a magician, a performer who puts on an act to dazzle a crowd without them gleaning the substance beneath (he's a terrible man who abuses and insults his wife and child).
• The clown/party/circus imagery, the theatrical masks, and the torn paintings throughout the hotel
• Someone on Youtube had mad a comment on one of Mariplier's videos (I believe it was part 6 or 7) that there's some kind of comedy act that's well-known in the UK that features a "Punch" character that abuses their wife and is generally a sociopathic, violent character.
• Parallels to the Joker (the new one), including apparent instability, being a failed comedian, thinking that the punchline of life is tragedy, and having an unhealthy dynamic with his mother who hid the identity of his successful father from him (the father rejects the child in both cases, albeit in different ways).
• There was a 1945 British horror anthology movie called "Dead of Night" that featured (according to its wiki), "an insane ventriloquist's malevolent dummy..." that was also comedic; it inspired a CBS radio anthology show that ran from 1947-1954 called "Escape." There is also a 7-episode "Dead of Night" 1972 BBC tv series described as 'supernatural fiction'/horrothriller.
• Baggy Cat Entertainment has also produced a detective game in a similar visual style called "Contradiction." Its plot revolved around a cult called ATLAS that operated under the guise of an executive business course. Interestingly, there are real cults that have used this as a recruiting tactic, including NXIVM. I guess it didn't perform all that well, but maybe At Dead of Night takes place in the same universe and Hugo is connected to a cult? I could see an expansion on this concept, delving more into Crowley-type elements and shoving a bunch of HP Lovecraft stuff into it.

Quick rundown of the story so that we're all on the same page: Maya communicates with the ghosts of Jimmy's former victims after she witnesses her friends being chloroformed and abducted by Jimmy, trying to uncover the mysteries of Jimmy's past in order to find something to leverage and save the lives of her friends. As she dodges Jimmy lurking through the halls of the seemingly abandoned, Shining-esque hotel, she apprehends the general outline of Jimmy's life through speaking with 4 spirits (feel free to scroll and skip to "THEORY" if you know the details):
1.) Amy, a 10-year-old former guest at the hotel, was bullied by Jimmy during their childhood. He stole her money on her birthday and her toy bear, the latter of which he returned after dousing it with turpentine and setting it on fire. Amy sustained a severe burn to her hand and tried to inform the adults, but Jimmy pulls a decorative sword off of the wall and threatens her with it, amending that he'll take care of it. He procures a bottle of whiskey upon which Amy gets (accidentally) uselessly drunk, and she jumps off the top banister of the stairwell, bleeding out from a severe head wound on the stairs several stories below.
2.) Although technically an accident, impressions of Jimmy's involvement in the mysterious death were mixed. The medical examiner had clearly determined that Amy's intoxication had precipitated the 'fall' and the damage to her hand was noted well enough that the adults in Jimmy's life suspected his association, especially given that they were aware of his proclivity toward both fire and electricity. Jimmy's mother, Rose, summons a clinical psychiatrist to address Jimmy's more troubling behaviour, though she either didn't suspect or didn't want to admit that her son was in any way responsible for the death of Amy. Dr. Bose's assessment of the situation grew increasingly dire as he became more apprised of Jimmy's 'hobbies' and conferred with other notable figures in the young boy's life, including the then-proprieter of the hotel and Jimmy's step-father, Harvey. Rose's death compelled Harvey to urge Rose into getting professional help for Jimmy, convinced that, being the compulsive liar that he was, Jimmy was significantly downplaying his role in the accident. Dr. Bose also learns that Jimmy carries around wire that he uses both to tamper with electronics and ensnare and kill small animals. To try and instill empathy Dr. Bose recommends that Jimmy think up something kind to do for him-- a situation that Jimmy takes full advantage of and 'pranks' the psychiatrist by tricking him into eating a sandwich full of broken glass. Alarmed at just how poor Jimmy's condition is Dr. Bose attempts to sedate the kid with diazepam to assist with impulse control, but Jimmy refuses and retaliates by collecting newspaper clippings in a scrapbook detailing the arrests of teachers and child psychologists who had been accused of beating and molesting those under their care. Jimmy first tells his mother that Dr. Bose beat him with a wooden paddle (a story lifted directly from an article he'd collected) in order to forcefully administer the diazepam-- which Dr. Bose vehemently denies and eventually convinces Rose is a fabrication. Furious, Jimmy accuses Dr. Bose of sexual assault, is arrested after Rose contacts the police, and kills himself in the elevator shaft of the hotel while on bail.
3.) Harvey, having found Jimmy's incriminating scrapbook and being fully aware of Jimmy's behaviour, confronts him. Things escalate, and Jimmy tampers with Harvey's heater so that it shocks him violently when he tries to turn it on. Harvey responds by taking a bat to Jimmy's possessions; Jimmy fixes a crossbow to fire a bolt into Harvey's leg when he enters a room, requiring stitches and a tetnus shot. Harvey locks Jimmy in the basement's boiler room where he'd been hiding when Harvey returns from hospital, and Jimmy sets a fire that was barely put under control in time. The damage of Harvey's archives and furniture was extensive and, finally sick of Jimmy, Harvey takes out his father's loaded gun and waves it around in an attempt to get Jimmy to flee from the premises. Jimmy sharpens a letter opener into a dagger and stabs Harvey's jugular in a sneak attack from behind. Rose, quick as ever to defend her son, convinces the police that Harvey did have a loaded gun and that Jimmy reacted in self-defence and was likely 'unaware' that the 'letter opener' would inflict as much damage as it had.
4.) Jimmy's mother and most ardent defender, Rose seemed to have turned a deliberately blind eye to Jimmy's escalating behaviour. After the death of Harvey and Rose taking up managing the hotel, things did improve, with Jimmy launching a successful comedy act that drew significant crowds (and income) to the hotel. Jimmy's stage persona-- "Hugo Punch"-- started to become more erratic and aggressive toward audience members, with one incident resulting in an offended female audience member being kidnapped and restrained by "Hugo", a story which she relayed to the press even though she didn't proceed with formal charges. Jimmy starts breaking mirrors upon seeing his own reflection, arranging and dressing up mannequins in the hallways of the hotel, and engaging in a host of other troubling behaviours that disturb Rose, which she justifies by claiming that her son has been overtaken by his Hugo persona-- a sentiment which Jimmy seems to share. This culminates in a suicide attempt wherein Jimmy tries to drown himself in one of the bathrooms of the hotel (it is unclear whether he took additional action, such as pills or slitting his wrists) before being discovered and rescued by his mother. In desperation and in an attempt to alleviate her own guilt, Rose tells Jimmy about his true parentage: Rose was once the hotel receptionist when a wealthy magician named Hugo Hall purchased the hotel in order to perform his successful stage act from; he became violently abusive after the two were married and, in a horribly misguided shot at fixing things, Rose fell pregnant with Jimmy, who was brutally abused from birth until 2-years-old by his father. Fed up, Rose catches her husband beating Jimmy in the hotel basement and murders Hugo with a club, burying him in concrete in a secret room. Despite having repressed the memories of witnessing his father's murder and the cover-up thereof by his mother, the incident left an indelible mark on Jimmy's psyche, and his mother's admission to the fact out of guilt that her actions and inaction (of stopping the abuse sooner and having a child with Hugo in the first place) were the reason Jimmy was so damaged. This only served to exacerbate Jimmy's condition and the divide between himself and his alter-ego, to the point where he sought out his father's grave. Out of fear of her son and her own self-loathing Rose douses herself in turepentine and sets herself on fire.
5.) End of the game: Maya confronts Jimmy about his father, Hugo, and admits to conversing with the dead (the fact that the hotel is haunted is something Hugo seems to be well-acquainted with). With the fate of her friends dangling in the balance, Maya follows Jimmy into the secret basement room where his father, Hugo, was entombed in concrete. Jimmy starts waxing poetic about how he and Maya were destined for one another. Maya absconds and deadlocks the door to buy herself time while she sets about freeing her friends and they all escape into the night. Jimmy is seen curled in on himself in the corner being taunted by his "Hugo Punch" alter ego, but his fate beyond that remains unknown.

THEORY
Okay, now that we've gone through the plot, I want to put forth that Jimmy's alter-ego Hugo Punch is not a true 'alter' in the psychiatric sense, but rather a metaphor intended to represent the fact that Hugo is both a victim of circumstance (under "Hugo's" control) and the arbiter of his own actions.
The game devs state that Jimmy is not intended to have DID and that the game is instead intended to portray Jimmy as a person with two moral paths, but this gets confusing when Rose's and Jimmy's dialogue seems to directly contradict it. Rose is convinced that Jimmy is either literally possessed by his father, is 'possessed' by his father in the sense that his genetics and treatment of Jimmy have turned him into a replica of Hugo, or that Jimmy has developed an actual separate personality borne out of the trauma of his life that resembles his father.
Here's the thing--- I think the 2nd option is true, and here's why: Jimmy's backstory hits every single beat of the elements necessary in creating a serial killer, and quite a few of them forfeit responsibility for their actions by blaming a darkness within them that is distinct from 'good' person that they are (Ted Bundy refers to "The Entity", John Wayne Gacy also refers to a darkness).
1.) The makings of a murderer:

• Jimmy showed early signs of enjoying manipulating the people and circumstances around him (getting Dr. Bose arrested, torturing and bullying Amy)
• killing and mutilation of small animals
• inflicting pain with the possibility of death on humans for his own amusement and lying about it after the fact (pranks involving glass sandwich, crossbow, and space heater)
• compulsive lying
• arson
• an overly-indulgent, enabling mother who doesn't address her son's behaviour
• possible brain damage (I'm assuming he has some caused by the significant abuse he suffered as an infant and toddler, given how childish Jimmy is-- he goes by "Jimmy" instead of "James" even by age 44; though he is clever enough to set the elaborate traps that he rigs and shows foresight and planning with his scrapbook and the fact that he only knocks Maya out so that he can 'have her' later suggesting that impulse control may not be the issue exactly here)
• signs of attempted or desire to commit sexual assault and rape (of the female audience member he tied up in a hotel room and possibly of Maya, who may or may not be a minor in the game considering he carries chloroform everywhere and chases her with a bat)
• brutal childhood physical abuse inflicted by a caregiver
• a genetic propensity toward violence and impaired impulse control from his father
• ptsd from witnessing murder as a child
• lack of empathy
• narcissism (monologue about how great his act is in the game's prologue sequence)
• lack of remorse (it seems like he has remorse when he attempts suicide, but remember that he shows no concern whatsoever over the incidental deaths of both Amy and Dr. Bose, as evidenced by the fact that he continues to pull pranks, abduct people, and straight up ruthlessly murder his step-father Harvey with premeditation [he sharpened the letter opener])
• going to extreme measures for attention (firestarting and almost dying by refusing to open the door of the boiler room, the pranks, the false allegations of sexual and physical abuse on his psychiatrist, and the fake suicide attempt as an adult)
• blaming a 'darkness' in himself to excuse his actions

But does Jimmy have something else going on, even if it isn't DID? Maybe. Schizophrenia generally emerges in one's early-to-mid 20s, which would match up with the timeline of events as described by Rose. He does talk to 'himself' aloud, also attested to by Rose as she witnesses his mental decline, so it is possible that he's having auditory and visual hallucinations-- and possibly delusions given the odd narrative he delivers at the end. He could actually have a mood disorder with depressive or manic symptoms and be Schizoaffective (Rose highlights his depression), but he could also by lying to manipulate his mother (we've heard from Amy, Dr. Bose and Harvey how often Jimmy lies and how susceptible Rose is to believing those lies, that he constantly seeks out attention, and that he frequently manipulates his mother, that he doesn't show remorse for his actions toward anyone but his mother-- and even then it seems as though he blames/resents his mother more than mourns her after her brutal suicide). To be honest, we don't see much in the way of Jimmy's suicide attempt other than Rose's reaction and the water vision; some narcissistic abusers and murderers, not just serial killers, fake suicide attempts to garner sympathy and manipulate those around them. Considering that drowning yourself without also drugging yourself or slitting your own wrists isn't all that likely to be effective-- and it isn't as though the game shies away from showing violent suicides and blood--I figure Jimmy may have only done this to 'show' his mother that he was remorseful for the assault of the audience member, as this is the only incident she actually catches him in (Rose frees the woman bound by coil wire and publicises the story) that he can't lie his way out of or blame someone else for; so he blames his 'alter ego' and 'tries to kill himself' to absolve the sins he's committed. It is possible that Jimmy feels some variation of remorse (there are some serial killers that have reported this), but given the fact that he likely has a personality disorder where extreme attention-seeking behaviour can be symptomatic (Borderline Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Psychopathy, Narcissitic Personality Disorder), I think that 'remorse' is less about guilt over the pain inflicted upon others and more of the 'woe-is-me, I'm so tortured, I feel bad about getting caught" variety-- again, evidenced in some offenders like Jimmy.
Let's be clear: there are many, many reasons people attempt suicide. Some genuinely want people to help and it may be the only way they can think of to have someone intervene, they may genuinely want to die, they may see no way out of terminating their own mental or physical anguish. But some people, in rare cases, do use fake suicide attempts to convince their victims to stay in abusive relationships, get out of legal trouble, or incur sympathy or attention. None of the narrators in this game are reliable so we have to go off of the consensus of what we're being given and see where the facts are corroborated.
If Jimmy has developed a psychotic disorder or is experiencing psychotic episodes, they are in no way to blame for his actions. It seems pretty clear from the narrative that Jimmy was incredibly disturbed and troubled as a child years before Rose started reporting on behaviour that could be evidence of an untreated, newly-emerging psychiatric disorder as a young adult (abnormal perceptions, delusions, audiovisual hallucinations, etc.); if he does have a disorder, it seems as though it's only exacerbated the tendencies he's had since childhood.
So is Jimmy responsible for his actions? Legally, maybe not, considering he was either a juvenile offender or possibly incompetent due to reasons of insanity (he shows premeditation but his lying also shows that he can distinguish between right and wrong in the beginning, at least). But as far as the overarching narrative goes? Yes...and no.
Jimmy, like all of us, is a product of his upbringing, genetics, and circumstances. Psychologists argue that this technically invalidates free will (at least as far as "true philosophical free will" is conceptualised), that whatever we do is a consequence of our programming and we can't act against what we are. Even making choices is pre-determined in a sense, given that you'll choose to act in accordance with certain parameters based on things you're unconsciously processing and how that information interacts with everything else you've learned and are predisposed to up to that point. This, obviously, has serious implications for the judicial system and moral/ethical philosophy: how can you punish someone who was always going to do what they ended up doing? Funny enough, this echos similar arguments found in theological discussions (how can God condemn someone to hell if they act in accordance with how they were created and that God knew how they would use their free will to end up in hell-- that is, how can a God damn someone for something They knew that person would do and couldn't do otherwise). But with this new argument, you basically invalidate the solution to the God argument (which was that even if God knew what a person would do that the person was still within their right to excersize their free will however they chose). So Jimmy is a victim, but so are his victims. What's the solution here? Socially, we have to accept a similar, but reduced, version of the God argument: even if this person couldn't have done otherwise, we still need to punish them and remove them from society so that they can be segregated from the majority of people who won't harm others. Again, I need to stipulate that there are plenty of people who have come from situations like Jimmy's and are not bad people--- there's some element(s) within them that differentiate those who do and do not turn out that way (which, psychologists would likely argue, is also mediated by brain chemistry, genetics, innate resiliency, etc.).

It's an open question, but I can give my opinion: free will exists conditionally and we may be arguing semantics a bit; you are still the arbiter of the choices you make, even if the choice you end up making is both predictable and predicated on everything else that makes up what and who you are up to that point. None of that invalidates the fact that you are making choices. In fact, if you want to substitute the language, you could say that the 'soul' of someone-- whatever it is that comprises the core essence of someone's personality and the sum total of their experience- would also dictate what that person would do because they're acting in accordance with who they are-- they can't be another person (pretending to be someone else is still a mark of one's own personality). It's basically like the human nature argument; everything a human [or insert any animal here] does is reflective of human nature simply because a human cannot not act in accordance with being a human, even if they pretend to be another animal.}}

My parents have let my two younger brothers watch YouTube unsupervised for the past couple months. They are 6 and 7 years old. Because of the way youtube works they have been getting really really bad recommendations. Elsa gate level stuff. Its lead to stuff like my little brother begging my parents to sign up for this youtubers patron because he "gives" the mod to his patron. Lets be real hes selling the mod.
Anyhow today just now I decided to put together a little test. I went on the tablet that uses their shared youtube and for anything resembling clickbate titles or obvious child bait content I clicked the 3 dots and selected "do not recommend this channel" then I went through and tried to subscribe them to as many educational accounds as I could. National geographic, vsause, 3 brown 1 blue, Kurzgesagt, linus tech tips, tom scott etc. Anything to get them interested in science and learning. And then because I know this would cause them to just get bored of youtube I threw in a bunch of top tier gaming youtubers. Pewdiepie, jackseptic eye, mariplier, jerma985, captain sparklez, sethbling, phynix sc.
My hope is that by doing this Ill quickly push them through the child youtube phase and also make them more interested in learning things. Hopefully the educational stufd doesnt get to their head making them 300 IQ 7 and 8 year olds but well see. After I did all my subscribing and such I checked their recommended feeds and it seemed to be working as intended.
