2024.05.22 02:07 OneLastSmile letter-writing geese

when i was little and still went to girlscouts i went to summer camp one year
and at the camp they had a stuffed goose statue in the cafeteria. i don't remember what they named it but they claimed the goose came alive at night and had us write letters to it. and the goose would write back to us
i know now it was just a fun game the counsellors were playing. but i was little and the fantasy was completely real to me. i believed in magic and santa and hadn't lost all my teeth yet.
i was distraught when the goose did not respond to my letter and later that day the counselors came and brought me to the goose case and showed me my "forgotten letter"
i wish it was possible to thank them for letting the kind makebelieve world persist. a nice safe world where you can write letters to a goose. crueler people would have shattered that fantasy when i was sad about my letter not being answered.
wish i could still exist in that safe world i lived in when they told me a letter had arrived for me and sat with me to watch me open it
i know now that they probably just accidentally forgot me, and wrote me a letter from the goose when they realized. its a human mistake and a human way to make up for it
but they made it special and it was still everything to me in that moment.
i wish the world was kinder to children
i wish letting a little girl believe in a letter writing goose wasnt such a high expectation to have.

2024.05.22 02:06 Inevitable_Result611 Trying to craft a Halo ODST one shot for new-ish players

Calling all Halo ODST fans:
I am toying with the idea of making an ODST D&D 5e oneshot for a couple of my friends who are getting into tabletop games with a group of 5 people (including me). I have played BG3 with two of them for many hours and I myself have played 5e for years and DM'd a few games, the last two players are not very experienced, I was thinking of having a boot camp section in the beginning to teach them what's possible in dnd and how skill checks, attacks rolls and saving throws work (I will of course cover the basics during character creation, this is just to get their feet wet and show how creative the system can be).
The thing I'm having a little bit of a struggle with is how character creation should go with adapting modern firearms/spellcasting in a universe that doesn't have it. I saw a few posts online argue that Spartans and their unique abilities can easily be flavored classes or magic, but not much so for just the grunts. I am thinking of starting them at level 3 or level 5, around there. Do I make some presets and have them choose? Allow only Martial classes and no spellcasting? Or do some tomfoolery and allow the magic to "leak" into the world?
I don't want to discourage anyone from playing what they want but:
  1. I'm having trouble thinking of what magic could be flavored as if it does end up happening. Maybe have some special grenades that have different effects?
  2. Spell-casters are pretty complex for a first time player, even if they have played BG3 before.
  3. I want to keep the game moving and not get bogged down in combat to keep it under 4 hrs. Having mostly Martial classes helps keep things simple.
Also any good ideas for which monsters to convert/flavor as classic Covenant or Brute enemies? I am planning for about 3-4 encounters with them increasing in difficulty as they get closer to their objective. I want to keep the game fair and consistent with rulings, but not have everything bogged down with discussions of super realism and obscure rules every time someone wants to try something cool.

2024.05.22 01:57 tiredblueberry2321 I'm worried I'm [27/m] not enough for my girlfriend (26/f), don't know how to make the relationship more equal?

We've been dating for just over a year now.
She's just so amazing- smart, funny, kind, I just love the way she sees the world and all the conversations we have. I feel like I really don't bring anything to the relationship, but she really seems to love me (and I love her) anyways. I'm scared I'm going to lose her because I'm not good enough.
I've gone back to school so I'm on a student budget for another year (though I'm set up with a good paying job once I graduate, and I have a degree so I have had corporate jobs before), but she's really well off (lawyer).
I keep telling her I'm happy just to spend time with her, and she doesn't need to spend money on me, but she loves going out and insists on paying for me. She also buys me all kinds of gifts, not even for special occasions, just because. I do buy her gifts I can afford, like flowers and the skincare products she like, and she seems to like it when I give her cards and draw or write letters inside them, but I feel like all the gifts I get her feel so cheap compared to the ones she gives me.
I try to plan nice dates, but I feel like her plans are always so much more elaborate. I don't want to invite her to anything involving money, because it would feel like I'm asking her to spend money on me.
I know I probably sound like a total loser, and maybe I'm selfish for staying with her, but I want to make her as happy as I can and I want to be the kind of boyfriend she deserves. All my past relationships felt more equal, but in this one I feel like I can't do anything that compares to everything she does for me. Any chance anyone has some advice?

2024.05.22 01:53 FrenchStephy Kamen Rider 555 20th: Paradise Regained interviews part 1: Kento Handa (Takumi Inui) and Yuria Haga (Mari Sonoda)

Kamen Rider 555 20th: Paradise Regained interviews part 1: Kento Handa (Takumi Inui) and Yuria Haga (Mari Sonoda)
From Uchuusen Vol. 183. Also I don't know what the consensus is but I use 555 to refer to the show and Faiz to refer to the Kamen Rider.
Part 2: Shinichiro Shirakura (Producer) and Ryuuta Tasaki (Director)
https://preview.redd.it/cf17s2fr7v1d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38973491b8e7cc12aed2b2972655da56a35e7961
It's been 20 years since the show ended, but have your impressions of the show changed?
Handa: My impression of the work known as Kamen Rider 555 changed after filming this movie. Previously, I had a rather dry impression of the show, calling it "my debut work" or "my first job after moving to Tokyo", but with the developments of recent years and the fact we were able to make this 20th anniversary movie, I realized that it was a necessary part of my life. It was one of the most special jobs I've ever had the pleasure of working on.
Haga: I think of 555 as my youth and starting point, and that hasn't changed even after 20 years. But once I go to the Kamen Rider filming set, I feel like a child. When I meet the director and staff, I am instantly transported back to those days. And it feels good.
Handa: I get it. I'm almost 40 years old, and as I get older, the sensibilities I had in my teens and 20s tend to fade. I wonder what I was thinking and how I was living back then. But when I'm with Haga-san or when I go to the Kamen Rider set, it instantly comes back to me. That feels strangely comfortable (laughs).
Haga: That's right (laughs).
Handa: It's not good for this to continue forever, but I think it's good to have moments like this every now and then in life.
You two have both appeared in the Kamen Rider series since 555, but surprisingly this is the first time you have worked together since then.
Haga: Yes. It's been 20 years since then.
Handa: We've been together at events and such, so you might get the impression that we've often worked together, but this is the first time we've appeared in the same work since 555.
Haga: But it doesn't feel like it's been a while. If anything, I'm more like "What?! It's already been 20 years?"
Handa: It feels like it happened just yesterday or the day before yesterday, when we were testing cameras, deciding on settings, and talking about silly things in our free time.
Haga: It's a feeling you won't find in any other work.
When did the two of you learn about the project for this Paradise Regained movie?
Handa: For me, it was when I appeared in Good Morning, Sleeping Lion 2 starring (Seiji) Takaiwa-san, which was released in April 2023. At the filming set, someone from Toei told me "We'll be doing it next year, so thank you for your cooperation". I was focused on that filming when he suddenly told me, so I was a bit shaken (laughs). However, I was happy that what we had hoped for came true.
What do you mean by "what we had hoped for"?
Handa: When the 555 cast members got together some time ago, we talked about how it would be great to do something for the 20th anniversary. However, it is impossible for us to make a movie on our own, so all we could do is show our determination. I only told Toei of my determination: "if you ever want to do it, I am ready".
Haga-san has appeared in Kamen Rider Genms -Smart Brain and the 1000% Crisis- and Kamen Rider Outsiders as Mari and Smart Queen, but were you aware of this at the time of filming?
Haga: At that time, there was no such talk, so I'm glad we had the opportunity to convey our intentions.
Handa: That's right. If we hadn't said that, the work wouldn't have come this far. I think we would have gotten an commemorative event at most.
Haga: When I learned that May 5, 2020 would coincide with the 20th anniversary of 555, I felt that it was fate that the number "5" would be lined up so miraculously. But to be honest, even if a new work was made, I thought it was going to be at most a collaboration with the latest Kamen Rider, so I never thought that we would be able to make a standalone 555 work.
Handa: I was certainly surprised that they would make such a large-scale work that would be released in theaters.
Takumi's death was confirmed in Kamen Rider 4, but what were Handa-san's thoughts on playing the role of Takumi this time?
Handa: I think of Takumi from the TV series and Takumi who guest starred in subsequent works as separate entities. If you don't interpret it that way, you'll end up worrying about parts that don't make sense. That's why I don't think of No. 4 and this movie as being connected. In the first place, after No. 4, I also appeared in Kamen Rider Zi-O. Even at that time, I didn't let No. 4 weigh me down, and instead only played my role of Takumi of the world of Zi-O.
Haga-san also played the dual roles of Mari and the Smart Queen in works such as Outsiders, but what were your thoughts on playing the role of Mari this time?
Haga: Even before that, I had appeared in Kamen Rider Kiva and Decade, but it was the first time in 18 years that I played Mari. I was surprised and thought "I haven't played Mari in that long?" But that's because for the past 20 years, I have been called "Mari-chan" here and there.
Handa: That's right (laughs).
Haga: Outsiders was not written by Toshiki Inoue, and to begin with, I played the Smart Queen role more often than Mari there, so in that regard this was the first time in 20 years that I played the post-555 Mari.
What did keep in mind when playing Takumi and Mari of 20 years later?
Handa: This is similar to what I mentioned earlier, but 20 years is just the passage of time in the real world. Although this movie takes place a long time after the TV series, there is no clear setting for how many years later. Takumi no longer have the body to continue working at the dry cleaners, and due to various reasons, has given himself to Smart Brain. I acted with that in mind.
Haga: That's right. We were both teenagers at the time of 555, so we have both changed as people.
Handa: We've both gone through a lot of things in the real world. But I felt like we didn't have to think about those changes in our state of mind in the 555 world.
The director of this movie is Ryuuta Tasaki, who was also the main director of 555. What was your impression of filming with the Tasaki crew after a long time?
Handa: For me, the only word I can say is "easy to act". However, since there were many young actors on set this time, the director was also strict. At the time of 555, we didn't really get yelled at.
Haga: Yes. I don't remember being scolded by Director Tasaki. I've worked with him on many other works (besides 555) such as Sh15uya and Kiva, so of course I know of his tough side.
Handa: For me, he is like a teacher or a club advisor. When I was a teenager, the 555 set was like school or a club activity. Even when things were tough, we overcame them and made it through as a group of members that wouldn't be complete with a single person missing.
Haga: He is like a guardian to me. Also, Director Tasaki's acting instructions are very easy to understand.
Handa: He's good at explaining things, without using emotional arguments.
Haga: He is watching the set carefully.
Handa: He's very considerate. If it's cold at the filming site, he'll say things like "put a blanket over him".
Haga: The very first scene we filmed this time was on the roof of a building, and he remembered that I was afraid of heights. He was really considerate and told me "you'll be fine at this height" and "there's a fence, so it's okay".
Handa: I think the director was impressed by Haga-san's talent even back then. That's why you're still treated with courtesy even today.
Haga: No, no, no! I was 15 at the time.
Handa: Now that I think about it, there are no 15-year-olds like Haga-san. She was much more level-headed than (Mitsuru) Karahashi-san (laughs).
Haga: Well, I'm confident in that (laughs). I still remember the conversation we had when I first met Karahashi-san. "So you are the rumoured Mari?" "Yes." "I heard you don't do any retakes." I thought "what's wrong with this adult?" with the way he talked to the 15-year-old me (laughs).
Handa: Karahashi-san brought home many leftover lunch boxes from the filming set, and used the baths at the filming studio to save up money for bathing. His way of life was very much like Naoya Kaido. He is a lovable man (laughs).
Please give us your impressions on co-starring with Kouhei Murakami-san (Masato Kusaka), Mitsuru Karahashi-san (Naoya Kaido), and Ray Fujita-san (Kitazaki/Dragon Orphnoch) in this 555 20th anniversary movie.
Handa: Though I worked with Murakami-san in Heisei Rider vs. Showa Rider: Kamen Rider Taisen and Zi-O, I thought it was really nice to see Takumi and Kusaka together. Karahashi-san was a key person in No. 4, so it was really only Fujita-kun who I met for the first time in 20 years. (After seeing him) I thought he too had become an adult.
Haga: Fujita-kun was a child even to me at the time (laughs). Also, Murakami-san loves Kaixa so much that he hosts a fan event called 913 (Kaixa) Festival. He also invited me there, so I regularly watch him play Masato Kusaka (laughs).
Handa: No, no, 913 Festival's Masato Kusaka is way too exaggerated (laughs). But it's amazing that he took Kusaka, a role that would normally be disliked by viewers, and turned it into a character that is loved so much. I think this is the result of Murakami-san's personality and hard work.
Haga: It seems that there are many people have come to like him after all was said and done. That Masato Kusaka (laughs).
How was your reunion with Karahashi-san, who was mentioned earlier?
Haga: I was surprised at the fact that he hadn't changed at all (laughs).
Handa: He really hasn't changed (laughs). I guess his hair is shorter now?
Haga: He always tries to sneak ad-libs during the actual takes. And everytime, the director would stop him and say "(you) don't (have to) do that!". Exactly the same scenery as back then (laughs).
Handa: It's fine to stay together with him for a day or so. He's pretty interesting after all. But every day is tough (laughs).
Haga: It would stop the filming from progressing (laughs).
Handa: It must be difficult for his wife (laughs).
In this work, Next Faiz, a new form of Faiz, appears. Please tell us your impressions after watching it.
Handa: When I first saw the design drawings, I thought it was an excellent design. While making the gimmick modern, it remains Faiz-like. I was impressed that they were able to create such a difficult design. I liked it at first sight. Also, while matching the old Faiz, the colors have been slightly changed. The red that used to be deep red has turned vermilion, and the silver has also become darker.
Between the TV series, movies, and this work, multiple Kamen Riders have appeared in the 555 series, but which Rider left the most impression on you?
Haga: Aside from Faiz, of course, I really like Psyga, who appeared in the movie Paradise Lost. I thought he was really cool, including the provocation pose he did when fighting Kaixa.
Handa: Back then, white riders were rare. And he could fly too.
Haga: When he fought Faiz, he was defeated right away, right? I seriously thought "what a waste!" (laughs).
Handa: Nevertheless, this is the first time I've heard that you like Psyga (laughs).
Haga: Just like Faiz, it has a really nice design that screams "Made by Smart Brain".
Handa: I was impressed by that too. Smart Brain's front face is a company, so they must be making products other than Riders. It's amazing that they are conscious of the commonalities that are unique to that company when designing their products. Even though it's a non-existent company. As a railway fan, I would like to see trains made by Smart Brain. Something like a Maglev (laughs).
Handa-san, how did you feel about using the Faiz Driver, which has evolved into needing a smartphone?
Handa: The conventional model has its advantages because I'm familiar with it. I think I would have gotten used to the new model if I had used it more often, but just from this experience I wasn't able to make it "my own". And it's not just me, but Takumi himself should be the same, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem even if I wasn't used to it. I think it's more realistic that way.
Since it's a smartphone, you had to use both hands to press "5.5.5. ENTER."
Handa: That was just for the sake of the filming, but if I really want to, I can do it with one hand. But as expected, it's still difficult to press (the touches) with one hand (laughs).
Please tell us the highlights of this work.
Haga: Please pay attention to the last scene.
Handa: It's the "true last scene", right? The scene that plays with the end credits.
Haga: Yes. I really love the Takumi and Mari of that scene.
Handa: Even though it was an ordinary scene, it was difficult to play, so in the end I came to the conclusion that I would "not act". Without thinking about how to make facial expressions, what kind of movements to make, or what tone to use in one's voice. I was wondering if that's what it means to truly "act". Haga-san acted the same way.
Haga: It was a scene that wasn't in the script in the first place. The story was that I could do whatever I wanted while the cameras were rolling.
Handa: The reason it was used properly is because the director could sense that Takumi and Mari were possessing us.
Haga: I haven't heard anything about it, but you're probably right.
Lastly, please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the screening.
Handa: This is a work for 555 fans. It is a work that we can confidently deliver to the core 555 fans who say I like this" or "that" about 555". It's not just that "we made this movie just to celebrate the 20th anniversary". Rather, it's more like "20 years have passed by coincidence". At least if you ask us (laughs).
Haga: I think the fact that the Faiz Driver, which used to need a flip phone, was upgraded into needing a smartphone, was only possible because 20 years have passed. However, it is a work that does not make you feel the passage of time. There are well-balanced scenes that make you think "this is what 555 is like". And this too "gets you fired up" (laughs).
Handa: Another big factor was that the filming took place at a time when we, the actors, were in good mental condition. The mental state of an actor will appear on the screen.
Haga: Please check out what Takumi and Mari are thinking and how they are living as adults.
Handa: But as I said at the beginning, I was a child again on set (laughs). That's why I would like (Toei) to create new 555 stories on a regular basis. So that we can also become younger (laughs).

2024.05.22 01:50 FzxH My rating of every arc from DBZ and DBS

Keep in mind this is my rating of the enjoyment I get out of the arcs, and not what I think they should receive based on the quality of the arc. For example, I think the Buu Saga easily has the biggest and the most issues out of any arc from DBZ, but that doesn't stop my enjoyment of it as you can tell from my rating. I also think I likely have quite a few hot takes and will anger some of you who can't understand that everyone enjoys different things.
Dragon ball Z
Saiyan Saga - 8.5/10, One of my first hot takes I imagine. Don't get me wrong this arc is iconic and from a writing perspective is one of the best in Dragon ball. I still love it obviously but I won't lie I am just a complete hoe for transformations so the lack of cool blonde hair results in this arc being a bit lower for me. Goku vs Vegeta is still so iconic and I enjoyed Raditz as well.
Frieza Saga - 9.7/10, So close to a 10, but I wouldn't quite go all the way there. I love the seeing Gohan and Krillin going around Namek as well as seeing the introduction to Frieza. He's imo the best villain in all of Dragon ball and he made quite a mark in this arc. Some of the scenes with Vegeta made me feel so tense and worried for the characters. Goku showing up and fucking up the Ginyu force is amazing and obviously going SSJ for the first time is one of the best moments in all of manga/anime. I don't really even have many criticisms of the arc, and on some days I may even give it a 10 honestly.
Cell Saga - 9.8/10, Again quite close to a 10 and I hold it in very similar regard to the Frieza saga. I must've watched Gohan going SSJ2 and fighting Cell hundreds of times as a kid. This arc kind of speaks for itself, I still love Gohan's character to this day and his character which lead to this point was great and this was such an amazing payoff. Trunk's introduction is amazing as well and we get cool characters in the Androids too. I could go on even more but I've rambled enough.
Majin Buu Saga - 9.9/10, I'm sure this is where the hate will come. Again let me say, I do not think this arc is better than the others in DBZ, but I'm ranking my enjoyment of it. There are quite a few stupid aspects of the arc and characters like Gohan were greatly mis-used. Regardless of this though I still find this arc to be insanely captivating and entertaining. One big part of it is that I adore kid Trunks, Goten, and Gotenks. We also have Vegeta's big moment which was great for his development. Like I mentioned before I absolutely love transformations and this arc had tons of them. Also, I honestly like Buu as a villain more than most, especially in his fat form and Kid Buu when he just became even scarier.
Dragon Ball Super
Battle of Gods - 9.5/10, Here comes another hot take. It's worth noting I am talking about the movie, not the anime or the manga. Beerus has become one of my favourite characters in all of Dragon ball and I loved his introduction in this movie. I know some have issues with the CGI used in some scenes but overall I loved the animation of the fights. It also has great moments like when Beerus slaps Bulma which pisses Vegeta off and obviously the big fight between Goku and Beerus. I'm a sucker for the more chill shit like the crew all just hanging out and I enjoyed the comedy throughout.
Resurrection F - 9.2/10, Pretty similar to the Battle of Gods really, I enjoyed the silly scenes and comedy and also thought the fight with Frieza was pretty entertaining. Story wise I think this one has some really big faults but overall I still like watching it despite that. Could it potentially have been so much better? Yeah definitely but what can ya do
Universe 6 Saga - 8.6/10, This arc was solid, I just feel it doesn't have the highs that the other arcs have. It dragged on at points and the fights were solid, but nothing that special when compared to many of the fights from other arcs in DBS. Goku vs Hit is definitely the highlight imo but it was also cool seeing Vegeta take on a mentor role with Cabba.
Goku Black - 9/10, this one is tough because it has some really amazing moments, but also as I'm sure most agree the ending is really stupid. Goku Black as a villain makes the arc entertaining nonetheless and there are some well written moments for Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks in it as well. The fights are fun to watch and I love seeing the new forms.
ToP - 9.6/10, This one is hard to rate honestly, as it has some insane highs but also goes on for a long time with some parts really dragging. Overall the high moments in the arc are enough to make me rate it so highly though. Goku vs Jiren is an all time fight and Ultra Instinct is obviously such a good transformation.
Moro - 9.9, This one may come as a surprise, but I absolutely loved reading this arc. It felt a lot more like DBZ than anything else in Super to this point and overall I thought Moro was a great villain. His design was pretty cool before he transformed and overall I thought the character development for Goku and especially Vegeta was great. The whole concept of Moro as a villain and his powers are so interesting and seeing him actually be such a challenge for Goku and Vegeta was really neat. The final battle between all of them is insanely cool and overall I just love this arc.
Granolah - 9.8/10, This is probably also a shock to you all but similarly to the last arc, I just loved the character development for both Goku and Vegeta. Seeing both of their new forms was great and some of the panels with both of them are next level. This arc definitely had some questionable writing decisions but again the highs of the arc far outweigh that to me. There are some interesting characters like Granolah and it was great to see more about Bardock too.
As you can tell, I love both DBZ and DBS a ton and that I have a very different taste than most in regard to my enjoyment of DBZ and DBS arcs. Feel free to give your thoughts on my ratings as well as your own or just any thoughts

2024.05.22 01:47 Nefthys "That" song and the [redacted] book (spoilers!!!)

Warning: I am going to mention interviews with Eric (that guy's basically Tom Holland at this point...) and official trailers, so if you don't want to read about potential spoilers, better skip this thread.
This is about track 8 ("Raglan James") and the TTotBT book.
What we know so far about the show:
  1. Daniel mentioned a "researcher" in episode 1
  2. Justin Kirk is going to play a character who knows Daniel and also knows that vampires exist, possibly a member of the Talamasca (but we don't know yet if he's that researcher)
  3. Eric said in an interview that the Talamasca are going to help him regain memories in some way
  4. Eric also keeps mentioning that he's always wanted to play a vampire
  5. (In another interview Eric mentioned ^ again in some special way (can't remember what he said exactly and can't find the exact interview) and a lot of people acted like that proved that Daniel would become a vampire for sure at the end of season 2.)
To recap the book:
Since episode 1 I've always thought that the researcher would turn out to be David and that they would use him in the TTotBD adapation (already mentioned by Rolin iirc) and as a connection to the Talamasca (show) but there's also a fan theory that the show will replace David with Daniel.
Let's just assume that Justin Kirk will indeed play Raglan James and that he's the researcher Daniel mentioned, how would that help get to where we need to be?
Daniel doesn't seem like a guy who's a Talamasca member, he is//was a journalist, so exactly the opposite of what you'd expect from one of them. I don't think he's got a lot of money (he agreed to do the interview because he wants to leave the $10mio. to his daughters) but if he was indeed (closely) connected to the Talamasca, money or taking care of his daughters after his death shouldn't be a problem. I don't think Daniel knows how to body switch either, so he wouldn't be of any help to Lestat, apart from that I don't remember them ever talking in the books.
Daniel's going to end up a vampire, that's set in stone, and it's suspicious how often Eric's mentioned wanting to play a vampire in interviews, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had old-Daniel turn to keep Eric around but again, how would that help with the TTotBT story, especially if they do give him David's role? Vampire-Daniel wouldn't be able to catch Lestat's post-QotD body, they needed the daytime to set everything up in the book and human Daniel wouldn't be of much use with that either (parkinson and all).

Bought a used copy of Japanese Heartgold and this is what I found!
I bought this game used awhile back at a convention. I was ecstatic to find a lot of data on this cartridge. Even more so after I read the character was named Satoshi, Ash's Japanese name. They put so much time into this game and almost completed it. They didn't have a full pokedex but caught all unown forms including question mark and exclamation point. I almost want to finish their save file for them which is just the pokedex. I wouldn't delete it as this would be a special cart and I'd shiny hunt on. Thoughts on what I should do?

2024.05.22 01:40 MakingPaperBooBoo DM wants to be the next Brennan Lee Mulligan/Dimension 20. Treats DnD like a business, alienates friends, gaslights, and deceives. And might get away with it.

To start this story off, I suppose it's best to talk a little bit about myself and my experience in the TTRPG space. I've been an avid TTRPG enthusiast for almost two decades now. Yes, I'm a bit of an old hat/old fogey. I started my enjoyment of the hobby with Pathfinder 1st edition, eventually transferring over to DnD 5e when it first arrived on the scene, mostly because it was the new hotness, but I ultimately found that it was better suited for the type of games that I enjoy running at my table. While I very adamantly enjoy the structure that a game's mechanical rules bring to the table, 5e provided a rules system that wasn't invasive, and so me and my friends were able to focus on the things about the game that we enjoyed the most - the roleplaying, the storytelling, and (most importantly) the fun.
Many years would go by, as well as a couple of what I would consider to be successful campaigns - basically anything that managed to survive longer than 3 months. Scheduling, right? I digress. Eventually, I arrived at a point where my current circle of friends and I were itching to play a new campaign, and for the shits and giggles of it we decided we would livestream it on Twitch. At the time, we had managed to get affiliated on Twitch, and one or two of us would occasionally have a couple of viewers pop in when we were streaming whatever video game we were playing, and we figured it would be fun to do the same thing with our next campaign. So we did. As you might expect, nothing really ever came out of it. We were just doing it for fun. The campaign only lasted about 3 months or so, and we never set out with the expectation that what we were releasing into the world was anything amazing - we were just four normal dudes having fun playing a game we enjoyed, and if you happened to find yourself on our Twitch channel to see it, awesome! If not, cool. We weren't doing it for you.
So, yeah, that campaign eventually fell off, and we would eventually return to just streaming whatever video game excited us. One of friends got married, and had a kid, and was too busy for DnD. Another friend got a new job, and his schedule just didn't give him the time. Hell, even I managed to land a pretty decent job at the time, and I struggled to make time for our weekly video game nights, but I managed. But ever since that streamed campaign had ended, I had an itch in the back of my mind that I really wanted to scratch. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about livestreaming our campaign. Sure, it was nothing to write home about, but I fell in love with the showmanship of it all. Maybe it was because of the thought of the potential for someone to eventually watch it, but whenever we would stream, I would get in the zone and pretend I was putting on a show for thousands (even though we may have only ever had three or four viewers at max). Basically, I had fallen in love with the idea of putting on a show for others, and I knew I would jump at the chance to do it again in the future. Enter Wayne.
A little over a year ago (at the time of this posting), I was perusing through the /LFG subreddit and not looking for anything in particular, when I stumbled across a post that checked off all the boxes.
I don't like to admit that I'm picky, but that fact that this sub exists should give credence to that fact that one should, at the very least, have a criteria when looking for games to invest yourself in when looking at advertisements. And if my little backstory above should inform you, there were a number of things on my checklist that this post had. For starters, it was longer than a few sentences. Clearly, the person who posted this was meticulous about what they wanted and what they didn't want (I would learn, much later on, that Wayne was not the one who wrote the post, but one of his players). Secondly, the post was very adamant about what was of paramount importance at the table - rich and compelling narratives, deep exploration of characters, and a passion for roleplay. And thirdly, the plan was to turn this into a "production". The post even included a promo video of respectable quality. Clearly, the people involved with this had a plan, much more of a plan than my friends and I had when we streamed. And, I considered myself a pretty decent roleplayer, so I applied. They were only looking for 1 applicant, but I figured I had a decent shot, with my previous livestreaming experience, and the fact that I already owned a (what some would call excessive) microphone and camera. So I shot my shot. If I didn't get picked, no biggie, life goes on. But when I received a discord invite and told that I had made it to the second round of the application process, I was ecstatic.
It is around here that I should introduce you to our cast of characters (names have been changed, of course:
There are at least a half dozen other individuals involved in this story, but ultimately play very minor roles. If at some point while I am writing this one of them pop up, I will update the list above to include them.
Back to the story. I was ecstatic to find out I had been selected for an Discord interview and scheduled it at my earliest convenience. This is where I first meet Ava. To be honest, I don't recall much about the interview, but I remember it being pretty standard and what I was expecting an interview to be. Mostly it was just going into detail about some of the stuff I had included in my primary application and talking about expectations and goals. I was told that after the Discord interview, the next step would be a participation in a practice one shot, to get a feel for how I would play at the table. After the interview was over, Wayne hopped into the voice channel, and this would be when I would meet the man, the legend.
I pride myself on being very good at reading people. I can usually pick up on when someone is trying to sell me something, pretty quickly. I tend to over analyze words and expression looking for intent. I have been gaslit and manipulated several times in my past by people very close to me, and so I have developed this defense when meeting people for the first time. Very rarely do I take someone at their word, or completely buy what they are selling when I hardly know them, and even less so to a complete stranger. In this case, when meeting Wayne for the first time, my defenses failed me.
Perhaps it was because it had been over a year since I last ran a campaign. Perhaps it was because it had been even longer than that that I actually got to be a player in a campaign. Perhaps it was because of that itch of wanting to perform again for an audience. Or, perhaps, it was because Wayne was very good at pitching his plans. Whatever the reason, my first impression of Wayne was that this was a guy who had a plan, and had the means to enact that plan, and I wanted to be a part of it in any way that I could.
Wayne, you see, had two big passions in life. The first was DnD. The second, as he would admit, was being an entrepreneur. He owned his own business in New York City. One of several ventures he had pursued, and it afforded him a premium NYC apartment and the time and luxury to spend on his second passion - playing DnD. And so, he thought, why not marry these two passions together? He had a great head for business. And according to him, the last campaign he had run was fantastic. So fantastic, he thought, that surely other people would enjoy listening to it. And so he hatched a plan - he would use his business knowledge and savvy to launch a Youtube channel that would be home to his next great campaign. But he had the foresight, at least, to know of just how saturated the DnD actual play space has become in recent years. If he wanted to be successful at this venture, he would have to stand out from the rest. And he had a solution to that. He wasn't going to put out just any old DnD actual play. He was going to create "DnD Cinema".
To do that, he said, he needed the right people that share in the same core philosophies that he had. Namely, a "pretentious level of hyperfixation on roleplaying and narrative storytelling". Most other actual plays, to him, were playing "beer and pretzels" DnD. You know, the type of game were you sit around with your friends having a good time and a laugh, where you might spend five minutes on an out of character joke, etc. Shit like that wasn't going to fly in this campaign. When you came to the table, you were going to be in character from start to finish. And recording sessions were going to be seven hours long. Could I handle that?
And I admit that I told him I could. Like I said, he had a way with words. He was clearly passionate about it. And he talked a good talk. And he was friendly enough. So he said he would be in touch. And the wait began.
Over the course of the next month or so, I would come to become friends with Ava and Wayne. We would hop into Discord and play games, talk about the upcoming campaign, etc. It was going to be several months before the campaign actually began recording, and so Wayne was still conducting the interview process while also working on worldbuilding for the campaign. He was also spending over $3000 dollars commissioning an animated table for the youtube video. This was clearly something he was very proud of, as he took every and all opportunity to talk about how amazing and innovative it was going to be.
You see, in Wayne's vision of "DnD cinema", the videos that would be put up on youtube would not include the faces of the players. Or battlemaps. Instead, it would be animated table that he could manipulate in editing at various cue points. It would feature portraits of the characters that would light up when they speak. It was the next big thing in the TTRPG space - a (frankly) audio only experience that was accentuated with the occasional fancy animation that cost thousands of dollars. No one else was doing it, he would say, and that would help him stand out even more.
It was also during these more innocent days that I would come to understand Wayne's obsession with Brennan Lee Mulligan. He idolized the guy. In fact, he would brag on multiple occasions that his significant other's job had her 3 or 4 degrees removed from Brennan - basically, she worked for someone who worked for someone who was involved with the Dungeons and Drag Queens season of Dimension 20, and he would often mention how he was hoping to use that connection to someday have a sit down and meet and greet with BLeeM himself. As time would go on, I would eventually find out that Wayne actually considered Brennan Lee Mulligan as his competition.
About a month would past before I would hear anything about my application. I never brought it up during our gaming sessions, as another core tenet of mine is that I don't want my friendship or acquaintance with someone to give me an edge over other candidates. I want my experience and what I bring to the table to stand on its own merit. This will come up later in our story. Eventually, I would get a message from Wayne asking me if I would be interested in participating in a try out one shot for the campaign. Apparently, he had completely forgotten that I had applied, and wanted to schedule in a last minute try out for me. My fellow players during the one shot would be Ava, some other member of the discord community, and Jelly.
I'll be honest, the one shot was nothing to write home about. And even Wayne would admit it was something he threw together last minute so that he could say I had my chance. I immediately found Ava to be a fantastic scene partner, and even for a one shot, put the time and effort into her character and actions. Jelly, on the other hand, was not that good. To be fair to Jelly, my criteria for grading her performance was strictly on the curve that Wayne himself said he was grading people on. I found her to be a very selfish player, who failed to pick up on narrative cues, and was solely focused on her time in the spotlight. But it was a trial one shot that didn't mean anything. My biggest take away from Jelly was that she was a player that I would not enjoy playing with in the future, and that I wouldn't seek out as a player at a table that I was DMing for. Not horror story bad (yet), but not good. Average.
When the application process was done, it would eventually come down to two choices. I was one. Wayne loved my southern twang, and thought it would sound good in a production. And we had become friends. The other was someone with a theater and acting background, who had been to Julliard. I was not selected. And I was okay with that. The decision did not impact my friendship with either Ava or Wayne, and we continued to hang out and play games together. I then learned of Wayne's new plan.
In the original posting ad for the campaign, it had been mentioned that a possibility for guest character appearing in the campaign could happen. The original idea was that, as members of the Discord community would play in one shots, Wayne would then be able to invite stand out performance to appear in an episode or two of the new campaign, as a gift to the community and to give those players a chance to play in a campaign with other players of similar caliber. This all changed as the months got closer to release date. The idea for guests at the table changed completely. Instead, Wayne's plan was to use the guest spots at the table as a networking opportunity. Don't forget - Wayne is an entrepreneur. This was a business venture for him, and successful businesses need to show growth. And he wanted to achieve growth at an accelerated pace. The plan was simple - as the channel grew, Wayne would scour the internet for similar channels with slightly higher subscriber count than his. Well, I say Wayne would do this. Wayne would actually pawn this off on to someone else. A tangent that I will perhaps need to touch on later in this story - Wayne was very good at finding ways of pawning off work on to others, and then taking the credit. He very much believe himself to be a manager, and other members of the Discord that showed any interest in the success of this venture as his employees. He would then engage in communications with these other channels in the hopes of achieving some Quid Pro Quo. You send someone to be a guest on our channel for a few episodes, and we'll shout you out. In return, he would send someone from his channel to theirs, and get a shout out in return. Something to note here - all of this was done without ever including his players in the discussion. He was offering them up to strangers without even asking if they even wanted to do that.
Time passes, and eventually recording for the campaign begins. It would be about two months into recording when Wayne approached me about being the first guest character. (At this point, I had been an active member of the Discord community for over six months now). He wanted me to be the first guest character for two reasons. The first was because I was familiar, and he wanted to test out the format before bringing in strangers. The second was because of my prior livestreaming experience. I was a part of an affiliated Twitch channel that met the criteria of having a slightly higher subscriber count than his. But for the most part, our old Twitch channel was dead. Sure, we still streamed games into the void, but there was practically no engagement. And I told him so when he asked me if I wanted to be introduced as someone from that Twitch channel. I was more involved in his community as that point, anyway. And so, I finally got what I was wanting - to sit down and play quality DnD with like minded individuals for the purposes of entertaining others.
At this point, only a handful of episodes had aired. The recording schedule had them a grace period of a month or so before release, and I admittedly hadn't watched them. Honestly, I wasn't that interested. I don't know if that's bad or not. There are a lot of actual plays out there of varying quality. And each one requires a lot of time commitment to watch. Already I was regularly watching Critical Roll, and I was having a hard time to find time to watch some of the other really good shows I was enjoying, like Dimension 20 and The Glass Cannon. On top of that, it was an game that I wasn't a part of, so yeah, I admit I hadn't watch any of it. But even if I had, it wouldn't have prepared me for what playing at the table was actually like. The released episodes were highly edited, with sound effects and music. It wasn't until I became actually involved at the table that I would find out just how manufactured the game actually was. And I use the word "game" very generously.
For starters, once recording began, all out of character talk and banter was immediately and explicitly forbidden. We were to remain in character at all times. Secondly, I would find out that Wayne had developed a "formula for success" in regards to time spent recording. No scene would ever last longer than ten minutes. If players spent too much time having their characters engaging with each other and the time elapsed, we were moving on the next scene, regardless of if it was a natural conclusion or not. Speaking of the characters, I would come to learn that the characters that the player brought to this campaign were secondary to the story that Wayne wanted to tell. "This campaign isn't character focused, it's story focused" he would say. The campaign simply did not have time for that. I don't like to toss out the word "railroaded" very often, but it quickly became apparent that there was a good bit of railroading being done here. The only character decisions or choices or conversations that would ever make it to the final cut were ones that provided what he thought would be the most interesting while pushing his narrative forward. And for a DnD game, there wasn't a whole lot of game being done here. Sure, the players had character sheets, and classes, but it was all superficial. Combat was a rarity on the level of a shiny Pokemon. I think mostly because Wayne didn't find combat narratively compelling. But in that case, I have to ask, why use DnD as your game system? If all you want to do is roll clicky dice and improv, there are much better systems out there. And speaking of the dice - I'm sad to say that in most cases they were superfluous, as well. The only real purpose the dice served to Wayne was when they could be used to clip epic moments of success or failure. A natural 20 or a natural 1 was gold for him, because then he could clip it into a Youtube or Tiktok Short and grow those subscriber numbers. For a game in which "every decision hung on the roll of a dice", there weren't a lot of dice rolls, there weren't a lot of decisions, and when there were decisions, most of the time, the outcome was predetermined by Wayne. Everything Wayne did in regards to this game was in service to growing his Youtube channel. And the sad part? It worked.
In a shockingly short amount of time, Wayne was able to grow his Youtube channel from just over a 100 subscribers to over a 1000. This was mostly done by his excessive push of Youtube and Tiktok shorts. For a short period of time, I was deemed trustworthy enough to have access to the Youtube channel's admin, and I could view the statistics. The turnover rate for shorts into actual video views was miniscule. Only a tiny fraction were tuning in for the actual show. At this point, he had just become a Youtube Shorts creator.
And I want to mention at this point - I understand and respect the hustle. The world of Youtube is a dog eat dog world, and you have to have to play the game to stay in the game - I get it. I don't have any issue with being proud of what you've created, and pushing it out to people. I really don't. My issue was with how deceptive Wayne was being with it. And how deceptive he was, in general, as I would come to find out.
You see, before the inaugural campaign had even launched, Wayne approached me one day to see if I would be interested in running a campaign on his channel, as I had experience before in it, and had expressed an interest in doing it again. And I will admit, I was excited about the prospect. But before my words of "Yeah, I'd love to talk about" even had a chance to dissipate into the ether, Jelly would hop into the channel, in the middle of the discussion to say, "You know who should run a campaign? Seth." And then immediately log off.
I don't have a lot to say about Seth. I think he is an amazing, caring, friendly guy. He also happens to be an incredible roleplayer and storyteller, and his character is Wayne's campaign is truly phenomenal. I envy how easy it is for Seth to get into and portray the wide arrange of emotions of a character. He also happens to be a great GM. I understand why Jelly would suggest him to run a campaign. What I didn't understand, at the time, were her motives. Wayne, Ava, Jelly, and Seth had all played in a previous campaign together, and Wayne and Jelly had become enamored by just how good Seth was. And even prior to that, Ava and Seth had a past campaign together. Jelly wanted to be a player in a Seth run campaign. And if Wayne was going to have a second campaign on the channel, she wanted it to be Seth's, and she wanted to be a player in it.
And so, immediately, any and all discussion about me running a campaign was ceased, and the legwork was put forth for Seth to run a campaign. Wayne would approach him about it, and he was interested. Seth would already have in mind the players that he wanted for it - two friends of his from outside the server, Ava, and another player from the Wayne campaign. Noticeably missing from that list - Jelly.
Strangely, Wayne would then tell Seth that if he was going to run a campaign on the channel, he would have to have an application process for the players, and open it up so that anyone could apply. After Seth had already stated he already had players in mind - players who already said yes. I don't know about you, but as a DM, I would never let someone dictate to me who I could have at my table. If I have players in mind already, it's because I have a reason. But Wayne demanded an application process be followed, and a second LFG post would appear in LFG for the Seth run campaign - that was noticeably advertising for 4 players. After Seth had chosen his players. The advertisement came with another well edited and narrated youtube promo that was, and still is, the highest viewed video on the channel. And all of it was a sham. Which I knew it was. And I confronted Wayne about it. It was then that I learned some unsavory backstory involving Ava and Jelly and the prior campaign. That is not my story to tell. I have shared my accounts of events with Ava, and she is considering posting an account from her perspective following this. The most I am willing to say on this is that involves situations that should never be okay at a DnD table, and that Wayne would gloss over and sugarcoat these situations as no big deal. It would lead to Ava not being comfortable with being at a table with Jelly which both I, and Seth, would understand.
Wayne, however, found this to be unfair and manipulative on Ava's part. Those past incidents should have had no bearing on Jelly's consideration for the Seth run campaign. Which is why he would demand an application process. He would then confide to me when I questioned the duplicity of the LFG advertisement that it wasn't completely misleading. There would still be someone chosen from the list of applicants - because he was going to make sure that Ava wasn't part of the campaign. After Seth had already told both Wayne and her that she was. After the players for that game had already come together for a session zero. He claimed that Ava had prior incidents of being difficult to work with, and that because he wasn't involved in the campaign, he couldn't be there to handle any situations that might arise of conflicts between players at the table. At the time I thought that was an odd statement to make - if you are trusting enough of another person, like Seth, to run a campaign on your channel shouldn't you be trusting enough in their ability to handle problems between players? Looking back now, I can only assume he made that statement because he was certain that Jelly would be a player at the table, and that problems might arise between Jelly and Ava. He asked that I keep the conversation between us. But that was something I could not do. None of that situation felt right to me. Wayne, Ava, and I had been friends playing games together for nearly a year now. I never saw any inclination of Ava being a "problem player" - she was great at the table, and a great person to hang out with. And I found it weird that Wayne would say those things about her, and not approach her about it. So of course I talked to her. For weeks she had been sharing her excitement of the new campaign with me, often with Wayne in the voice channel with us. Ava would then share with me her past experiences with Wayne and Jelly. Again, it is not my story to tell, but I am a good judge of character. I believed Ava's account of events. It made sense to me, with how Wayne and Jelly acted.
I wish I could say this story had a happy and/or satisfying conclusion. I'm not even really sure if there is a point to it, or even if it will be a good read. It has been clear for some time now that Wayne has been entirely obsessed with the growing of his Youtube channel, damn any and all bridges burned, and walking back some of his initial promises of what he claimed the campaign and the Youtube channel would be. It's also very clear to me that Wayne is someone who absolutely has to have control over everything, especially the narrative (fictional and real life).
There are so many minor grievances to air about Wayne that I haven't already touched on, and I feel like I've already taken up too much of your time already. Here's just a brief overview, I'd be more than happy to go into more details if you want them:
Ultimately, I suppose I feel disheartened and deceived. Deceived because I originally signed up for what I thought was going to be a bunch of friends sitting around and recording themselves playing quality DnD, and it has shifted so far from that original purpose. Wayne is obsessed over subscriber numbers and views, it's all he ever talks about. He claims that his goal is to reach a level of success to which all 10+ people involved will be able to achieve financial freedom (which he claims is roughly $2000 a month). I'm sure you've done the math, just like I have. Even if you believe $2k a month is financial freedom (I certainly don't), that comes out to $240,000 a year. That's an insane level of success to promise your players. Oh, I'm sorry, your "talent".
I feel disheartened because....there's actually good work being done here. Some of the players are some of the best I've ever played with. Wayne can actually be a good storyteller, when he's not pushing for likes or clicks. The editors do a really fantastic job. I have seen and listened to the work being done on the Seth campaign (luckily Wayne is only tangentially involved), and Seth's campaign is turning out to be something really special. There is something good being done here, but it seems so tainted by Wayne and his obsession for Youtube and Tiktok success. So, maybe this is an RPG Horror Story, maybe it's a cautionary tale. I dunno. I have committed to finishing out my run in the campaign, (I was brought back to the table multiple times because the players enjoy playing with me, and also I suspect I was involved in one of his highest viewed shorts), but my hearts not in it. I've told Wayne I've no interest in any of his future projects, and I wish him well on his Youtube journey. But in the pursuit of clicks, and likes, and subscribers, I feel like he has fundamentally lost what attracts people to actually watch and invest in TTRPG actual plays - authenticity.

2024.05.22 01:33 iuliad94 My thoughts about S3 Part 1 after rewatching

So I actually watched the first 4 episodes when they dropped, but I was very underwhelmed and decided not to post anything as I didn’t want to be negative. I didn’t dislike it, but I was definitely disappointed because I had very high expectations after all the press, the promo and what was being said by the cast and the crew. However, since then I rewatched the 4 episodes and I definitely like it more now after rewatching with no high expectations.
The things I had issues with:
A thing I'm unsure about for now:
Now finally onto the positive stuff:
So these are my thoughts and even though I was disappointed I did enjoy the season overall even if it seems like I have many complaints, it’s still Bridgerton and I just love the show. I feel like my thoughts would be much different with a full picture of the season and not just 4 episodes. I am sure that after Part 2 my feelings about it will be a lot more positive since the storylines will all pay off hopefully. I’m also hoping that they don’t do this split release in the future as I genuinely think it hindered my enjoyment of the season.

2024.05.22 01:32 Jscraz Off my Chest.

So I have to maintain a certain “sang froid” at work. I am in the child welfare field. I am a Deputy Juvenile Officer for the State of Missouri. Missouri has an archaic child welfare system our version of “CPS” (Childrens division/CD) cannot assume protective custody of a juvenile, that’s my job. As such I end up working a lot of abuse and neglect investigations. Also my duties include investigating, arresting, transporting and prosecuting juveniles that violate crimes in my judicial circuit, I am generally assigned sex crime investigations and the most serious felonies, I have a military background as a light infantryman and spent nearly two years in active combat. 2 of my coworkers are incompetent, one can’t use a computer or do any function of their job, I took half his work and another deputy took half. I have to write another deputies legal documents as she can’t do it (she works wonders with our behavorial health/special needs kids though so that’s ok!!!). I manage a caseload of over 120 juveniles either for abuse or neglect and felony law violations (I also take probation cases). I have been told by numerous other workers I’m partnered agencies, superiors, and even judges that without me the child welfare system in this part of the state would collapse. I’ve closed a lot of cases and kept a lot of kids safe. Everyone tells me what a great job I do and how happy they are that I’m on their team. The only problem is I can’t keep going everyday. I have to keep my military bearing and stay calm and not react emotionally despite the situation, that’s not a problem. The problem is there’s no relief in sight. All our juvenile detention facilities are full, if a kid committed a murder I don’t know if I could place them in a secure facility. In addition the counties are made at how much detention costs them and are starting to withhold funding. All our foster homes are filled to capacity and then some. We are leaving kids in questionable and dangerous situations because of new state directives to cut the kids in foster care. My agency has been on a hiring freeze for the last 2 years due to budget issues. Our circuit judges refuses overtime payments because she says we can just find time during the week to take off, which is a violation of state regulations, the state I work for. I get to work at 7 and leave at 6. There is no help in sight, I’m drowning, all attempts to address the issues through the chain of command fall on deaf ears and a “we’ll figure it out”, which in the past has been me being told to find a way to get something done (I actually generally have pulled some genuine miracles out of my ass). For ensuring the safety of the children in this area I am paid a total of $42,500. What’s sad is I’m not stressed I’m used to the “it is what it is” and actually feel like my productive and work quality has increased. But what scares me is i no longer have sympathy. Even in Afghanistan I had sympathy for the afghans and even the Taliban. I feel bad for the kids but have no sympathy for the families and that’s what worried me. I just needed to tell someone this. Comment ideas and suggestions the attorney general of Missouri will not return my letters.

2024.05.22 01:30 IvoryandSteel 34 [F4R] #Anywhere - Lofi girl seeks synthwave boy or girl!

Hell on wheels. Not entirely straight. I am a goth babe, granted with defective legs—a budget goth babe, if you will. One of those off the shelf ones, except I don’t trust myself around shelves. Wheelchair and that. Looking for something long-term. Open to anyone 29-36. https://ibb.co/DwFPtqG Here I am! Please tell me your favorite book if you decide to send me a message! Talk about medieval history with me!
I love single-player RPGs, but I could use a player two. I am also a voracious reader so sometimes I read 10 books at once. I'm looking for something long-term. Right now I'm taking a break from school while I pursue my Masters in psychology and reading Lord of the Rings. I could also use Nintendo Switch friends. I usually play a human sorcerer in Dungeons & Dragons; if there's an open spot in your party I'll take it! I love Tolkien, A Song of Ice and Fire and recently started Robert Jordan's books! Arya, Sansa, Brienne, Jaime and Bran are my favorite characters. Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, Fallout and Elder Scrolls are some of my favorites. I collect vinyl and love my dog more than anything else.
Marathoning Doctor Who--Nine and Thirteen are my Doctors! Loving Shōgun and House of the Dragon, though I could always use more period drama recommendations! I keep Kitchen Nightmares on as background noise.
I have a special interest in shipwrecks and medieval English history.
Still love Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and bands of that illk. Will take emo and punk friends too! I need friends in Disney Dreamlight Valley as well!
I am looking for long, loving, lasting relationships primarily. If you are too please reach out. Please tell me a little bit about yourself if you can and please be fairly close in age to me. I am very shy, please be understanding if I am slow to respond.

2024.05.22 01:28 Requna ToW: Multiple Wounds and Ward/Regen - How to?

Hello, how does the interaction between multiple wounds and different types of armour saves interact?
" Each unsaved wound inflicted by an attack with this special rule is multiplied by the number shown in brackets after the name of this special rule (shown here as ‘X’) " p. 175 ToW Rulebook.
Is this before ward saves? Say I have Multiple Wounds D6, and 4 attacks hit and wounds. Would I roll the D6 per wound (4xD6) now? After the first Armour Save? After Armour Save AND Ward? After Armour Save AND Ward AND Regen? I'm a little confused as to how to interpret the "each unsaved wound" part.
It came up due to a particularly angry dwarf king (4 attacks) with rune of smiting (D6 wounds) attacking a character with regen and ward. The way we played it was:
  1. Roll to hit
  2. Roll to wound
  3. Roll Armour Saves per wound
  4. Roll Ward per unsaved Armour
  5. Roll Regen per unsaved Ward
  6. Multiply each unsaved Regen by D6 (actual damage) AND multiply each Regen save by D6 and add these to Combat result (potentially a net sum of 24 wounds).
Hope you can help me shed some light on this :).

2024.05.22 01:27 Internal-Day9256 26 [F4A] Spain/ Europe - Looking for that special someone

Hello!
I hope you are doing well! :)
I don’t really know how to start this post, as you can imagine I would like to find that special someone :D It’s definitely not easy, and I don’t have too much hope when writing this post, but I feel a lot like writing! So maybe I will try my luck!
About me:
I am a pretty normal person, I like simple things and even though I always thought that was bad (when I was an edgy teenager) the older I get the more I am keen on having a simple yet beautiful life. And I am working towards that right now.
I have not had an easy life, let’s just put it that way, so I have dealt with depression for a long time as well as anxiety. I want to be honest about this because it can be a dealbreaker for some people. I am getting better thanks to my therapist and medication.
In my free time I love cross stitching, watching tv shows and listening to music (I am really excited about this Twenty One Pilots album coming soon!) i also love going to the cinema, taking a walk, going to the beach and swimming (although I don’t swim very well) and traveling (I would love to travel more).
I also would love to read more (I feel like I am blocked right now when it comes to book) and learn how to use a camera properly as I also like photography. I also would love to find some penpal friends (in case you’re interested in writing letter let me know! :) )
I consider myself to be a good listener, loyal and trustful. I don’t drink or smoke (never have) and I am looking for someone who doesn’t smoke either or who drinks too much.
What I value the most in a relationship is honesty and communication. I prefer to know the truth even if it hurts than living in a lie. I also like to be able to communicate how I feel and I also expect my partner to be able to communicate with me whatever they are feeling (especially if it is regarding the relationship). I also love hugs and holding hands.
I am greysexual. Sex and sexual attraction are not important for me in a relationship, so if it is important to you, we may not be a good match!
Physically I am quite short (1,54 cm), slim, short wavy hair. I do not really have any style when it comes to clothes but my favorite trend right now is cottagecore and fairycore.
What I am looking for is:
Someone honest, caring and who loves hugs! Who also believes communication and honesty are fundamental in a relationship.
As I said sexual attraction is not important for me, but I really like someone who takes care of themselves (I know this may sound basic, but who showers regularly, who likes to style their clothes, who takes care of their stuff and who is organized and tidy). I do not drink or smoke so I would prefer to date someone who doesn’t drink/smoke either.
Someone around my age and preferably from Europe due to the distance, but I am also open to get to know people from other parts of the world:)
Thanks for reading this! Have a good day/ night!
Edit: sorry for the edit! I forgot to mention that I would appreciate if you could write a little bit about yourself if you decide to message? That would be great! Also let me know what’s your favorite song! :)

2024.05.22 01:26 Physical-Bee-7713 I have another question fnaf fans

I have another question
Since the animatronics doesn't have any gender just a gender role to play on just just like a set. I love like how security breach you can mix some parts together to make a animatronics walk and talk with special skills, power up and how the action figure got mixed together on the VR version also how the mimic can only catcher voices perfectly. Can or can you not change and mixed their voice box in vocals just like how the mimic does? The problem is in security breach ready got a new voice box but still his old voice does that mean do you need a special upgrade and or a chip like a sd card to give them a special a voice program like we do for Google and Siri on our phone And if we do does that mean they have to play another role like a performance something similar like maybe baby circus and or like sun and moon how they switch character role depending on the spotlight. Does that mean we have to switch their persona like we do it game persona and or mix fusion like from Digimon and , Steven universe, Yu-Gi-Oh, any show that comes with fusion like a mix of a ingredients food that you might like or can be one play Man like in theaters or Opera, it's a one-person and/persons playing a whole bunch of character at once or you can have it up to four and or maybe it's shapeshifter. Apple item that can transform into anything let's say Looney tunes, Scooby-Doo, My Little pony, tough puppy the chameleon, Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, Xiaolin Showdown Kimiko Tohomiko: I love the way how she dressed differently every episode but she still herself, Wild Kratts, Ben 10, Diddy Kong racing the magical kart, Jetpack Joyride
I think I'm mixing up things but I'll leave it for now

2024.05.22 01:15 ElegantHovercraft116 I 23M stupidly texted my 22F ex and her parents after breakup. Advice?

TLDR: Irrationally texted my ex parents after a breakup saying mean shit about her no threats just emotional dumb shit. Regret how childish I came off and feel like part of my healing even to move on fully is apologizing to grow. But I don’t want to bother as other redditors have exclaimed I should be lucky no restraining orders have been put out or I’m not in jail. I admit I said ugly shit but nothing that comes to threats or harm. Lmk please
Ex texted a bestfriend behind my back ending of last year ruining the friendship. Broke up with her, during that time I rekindled with someone else while occasionally texting my ex still not back together. Felt like I missed the warmth of my ex and dropped the new girl going back to my ex fully beginning of this year. Missed the support and love from my ex that I never truly got. Girl told me ex about our dirty laundry, causing trust issues in the whole relationship. Trust me when I tell you I felt more than guilty. I balled my eyes out with her and not even for getting caught for the reaction she had and how fragile she always was to me. I mention what she had does because stupidly I should have left when I had the chance. Even other instances where she had initiated things, I knew it might have not been the healthiest but she showed other signs of real true love. Tried fixing them by removing girls, sharing location, etc. I felt scared my ex is gonna get revenge and started being distant at the end which pushed her away as well. I thought we would get back together as always, found out she’s been adding guys she removed a long time ago. I got upset and texted her ugly nasty shit, and texted her dad saying his daughter is nasty etc. I thought by doing this I’d move on quicker by burning bridges, he told me to leave them alone I’m being childish. I understand I fucked up and fully agree. She’s done things and I know I shouldn’t have let be, but staying and getting revenge wasn’t the way. I’m realizing that as the hours even go by everyday I think about it. I want to apologize to the parents for the lack of character I had because I never ONCE disrespected them in their house, to their face. I called them Mr and Mrs always and always asked if they needed anything. I talked to a close female friend who said this stuff needs time and I can apologize if I’d like and if it makes me feel better, or write a letter and burn it. My parents said that’s not my character and said apologize if you feel necessary as I wasn’t raised like that. I feel like it’s too late to backtrack on the stupid shit I said. Am I being selfish by sending a text? I just want this weight off my chest of being the shitty person at the end at least to her parents who didn’t need any of that.
Is it smart to reach back out to the parents to show respect as an adult or just let them be? I know this was a lot but it’s on my heart and brain everyday since. I know I was emotional for no reason as I had done hurt to her in the past too. Seeing her move on so fast is what bothered me but I see she wanted me to feel what she felt. I just feel bad sitting on the thought that I left her parents with such a bad image of myself even thought it doesn’t matter anymore just doesn’t sit with me. Help?

2024.05.22 01:14 juliiaduque List their worst sins, in your opinion.

https://preview.redd.it/i9iehw9t2v1d1.jpg?width=980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3fa39725531f30e0cb636db13be42aa15b12817
You can talk about new characters too, if you like. For me its:
Meredith: treating Lexie badly (out of the top that's what comes in my mind, haven't watched in a while)
Izzie: Stealing a heart, being george's mistress, leaving everybody twice (I could rant about her all day) • Richard: cheating on adele • derek: did he actually cheat? never got sure of it • Alex: beating innocent people up, leaving Jo, ratting on Meredith and the trial • Owen: chocked cristina
Cristina: treat some people badly (lexie) and thinking that PRESTON BURKE, who was already preston burke before her existence, owed her some kind of mentioning in the Harper Avery Article. She didn't help him with any discover or research, also she took advantage to do surgeries too, so... BUT I LOVE HER AND I MISS HER! • Bailey: often treated Meredith badly • Amelia: being extremely annoying specially at man. so dramatic sometimes!
The writers: killing everybody, making Arizona win Sophia over Callie
