2024.05.19 12:08 SnooSketches202 [PC][2010-2013] TURN-BASED FRIV GAME THAT HAD CLASSES LIKE DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, STARTED WITH A GIRL ASKING A FEW QUESTIONS AND THEN YOU'D GET YOUR CLASS AND THEN YOU STARTED

There was this game that was on either friv or ____ games 2, ____ because I don't know if crazy games 2 ever even existed, but I remember it started off with choosing a few options and then you'd get your class of character, the classes included barabarian, knight and rogue (don't know if this was the name), a bit like dungeons and dragons. I remember you had to use j, k and l if you were player 1 and you could upgrade these characters. I remember it was turn-based and very long, please help!!!

2024.05.19 12:07 GuardianBug Low level travel encounter: Don't hurt my Fleecemane Lion Cub!

Low level travel encounter: Don't hurt my Fleecemane Lion Cub!
https://preview.redd.it/hvxuwkq4hc1d1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=cbad4913c8ec593935b30cefb13b483ddaf7e2de

The Encounter:

Two children wearing fine clothes are playing in the forest (or landscape PC's are travelling in). If the party contains a leonin, the children will beg that PC to showcase their terrifying roar. If there's no leonin, make up any other reason to ask the PC's to make a loud, animalistic sound (remember: these kids are very impressed with the PC's). Once a roar or loud sound is made, it will attract the wrath of a Fleecemane Lion, though this one is only a cub.
The cub will attempt to stealthily sneak up to the PC who made the sound and attack them.
The cub is approximately the size of a large dog. I wanted to provide my PC's with the feeling of battling a mythical creature, but the adult Fleecemane is a bit above their current level, so I homebrewed this Fleecemane Lion Cub. It is my first EVER homebrew monster stat block, so I am pretty nervous about posting it! I roughly halved the adult's stats (HP, stats bonuses, ST and attack bonuses, attack dmg), but the written CR of 1 is a total guess so please ignore that. My party only has 2 level 2 PC's, but for larger parties I imagine two or even three cubs would create a more interesting challenge.
1 round after combat starts, the cub’s “owner”, a goblin named Lysnark, joins the conflict by taking one of the children hostage (knife to throat style). The other child runs away. Edit: Lysnark's opening statement is that the PC's cannot hurt the cub, or he will slit the kid's throat. The cub could continue fighting the PCs, however! Encourage players to grapple (hope mine will learn), animal handle, talk, or find other non-violent ways to manage this conflict. If the players lean towards lethal violence, emphasize that the cub looks stressed out and terrified while fighting, and that Lysnark behaves a bit like a child throwing a tantrum, and looks to be early teen-aged.
Fragile ego: Lysnark talks a big talk but is not very sharp nor impressive. The PC’s could appease Lysnark by building up his fragile ego. His brothers Phaedrizzle and Theronbog bully him for being the smallest, and so Lysnark can be manipulated easily with any statements that lessen his insecurity (DC12 man).
Trade: the PC’s can trade with Lysnark by offering anything that would increase Lysnark’s esteem in the eyes of his brother goblins (jewelry, weaponry, armor, gold).
Lion hostility: the cub is hostile to leonin (or if no leonin in the party, hostile to any "monstrous" PCs), giving them disadvantage on any checks attempting to calm the cub down (DC16 animal handling, DC12 if Lysnark has called off the lion cub. It is trained but not perfectly so).
~Developments~:
  • The PC’s will receive 50gp each (or another suitable reward) if they bring the children home (middle/upper class family an hour hike away) as long as the children tell tales of heroism about what happened! The death of any being (Goblin, Cub, or Child) will severely traumatize the child(ren), in which case the parents could react negatively to the PC's, depending on how they explain what happened.
  • If Lysnark becomes neutral /friendly to the PC's, or scared of them, he will ask the PC’s to beat up his brothers Phaedrizzle and Theronbog (a hobgoblin and hobgoblin captain), willing to trade the cub (which he won’t need if his brothers finally leave him alone!).
  • If the PC’s take the cub (by force or by trade), an adult Fleecemane lioness will come to stalk them in the future...
I used this really great webpage to make the statblock: https://tetra-cube.com/dnd/dnd-statblock.html
The goal of this encounter is to make my PC's think about empathy, innocence of creatures that harm you, neutralizing violent threats without using violence, or with non-lethal combat strategies.
Would love to hear what you guys think. Please be kind in the comments! Happy DMing ;)

2024.05.19 12:06 Minute_Tomorrow_7935 Kotetsu or Shao Jun in AC Shadows?

I just realized that potentially Shao Jun could be alive (though very old) during the time of AC Shadows as she has never had an official death attributed to her (according to AC wiki). Furthermore her apprentice Kotetsu supposedly started the Japanese Brotherhood in the mid-1500's and it would therefore be logical for him to appear or at least be named in the game. I hope the direction they choose is that Naoe's Shinobi clan is actually an Assassin cell as she would be then be the first born-into-the brotherhood protagonist we've had since the Frye twins and pretty much one of the only ones to not first be recruited later in life.
Anyone here believe Ubisoft can stay faithful to the lore and include these characters?

2024.05.19 12:04 Pachipachip Fake pleasantries post-death

This is a thing that has always irked me deeply.
People are one way towards a person while they're alive, but after they've died, suddenly they are overly nice and complimenting and gooey about them, and it honestly grosses me out.
Why didn't they say all those sweet things to that person while they were alive so that they could actually enjoy their kind words?
Sure, in some cases it might be that they took the person's existence for granted and compliments weren't part of their general interactions, I understand that, but then say that as part of your public message about them...
But I think, all too often the things they are saying publicly about the dead are things they've never thought about them at all, and them saying those fake things feels like a performance for the living, trying to show what a compassionate person they are... Some kind of display of their moral humanity or something.
The fakeness feels like a horrible insult to the dead in my opinion. Maybe if the dead person loved fake pleasantries they would like it, but not many people do I don't think...
It feels like people are USING a person's death for their own personal social status gain and it's deeply disgusting to me.
My granny was a pretty unfriendly, snooty, posh and frankly nit-picky and annoying lady. But at the same time she was really true to herself, did what she wanted how she wanted to against what society told her to do, and didn't participate in pointless small talk. Her death was even so fitting to her because she died doing something she was explicitly told not to do for her own safety but she did it anyway.
She had a stand-offish nature but was never unkind to me. She always answered my questions and was pleasant enough, but she wasn't the type to go out of her way to talk to a child lol. We were to call her by her name and not call her granny. I honestly think she was just a bit awkward and not sure how to be a friendly social person, and I'm glad she wasn't fake about it.
My mom told me stories of how she was quite snobby about her passions because she was so serious and advance about them, a bit of a gate keeper in the olden days, but when she recognised someone showing genuine interest in it she would advise them and talk excitedly with them for ages about it. She never acted like she liked someone if she didn't, and even if that's not socially inviting, she didn't care, and I appreciate that kind of genuineness to oneself and others. As far as I know she was able to be cordial with people she didn't like, so it's not like she attacked them, but she wasn't fake nice to them either. She was an unusual character with a really strong unique flavour. I honestly think she would have been right at home in some 19th century British royal aristocracy setting. I've never met anyone quite like her. And family gatherings after her death had a very noticeable and distinct hole in them where she belonged.
And that's probably why I feel extra gross when my family posts publicly about her on anniversaries and the words they use are so sappy, not fitting, and just not genuine at all. They're writing imaginary words about an imaginary person. Why can't they say that they miss her sassy takes on their conversations, or her unique unwavering character that was genuinely one of a kind? Or just say nothing at all if you don't have anything nice or interesting to say...
And also, don't pretend a dead person was never annoying or never did anything bad ever. So disingenuous. That woman had some awful old fashioned opinions, and I can feel her revulsion beyond the grave if I would ever suggest she could have been autistic lol. It feels like I'm being cursed beyond the grave now. Maybe that's why people don't say real things about the dead! lol
Anyway, just wanted to rant about this and wondered if anyone else here felt the same...

2024.05.19 12:00 Nichokas1 The Cheaters I Actually Respect.

Actual legit player here. Today I’m gonna go through my analysis of the types of personalities that cheat in cs. The final one I respect.
  1. Literal twink with degradation fetish:
Now I don’t use twink derogatorily, I mean it factually. Actual gay 140 pound femboys who love being degraded by big sweaty angry online men, they get off on it. Like actually. I say this with confidence because I’ve had the gayest sounding cheater randoms on my team before. Very sassy. One time I had one “not leaving spawn until you apologize to me” cause I called him out for cheats and said he’s being way too obvious. (We won anyways).
  1. Guys who like making other people upset:
These guys’ usernames are always something like: “valorunt pro”, “I’m better than you”, “cs god”. You name it, they want to get on your nerves, they love it, it’s why they cheat, they love attention even if it’s negative. (I’ve had games where if you just ignore their shit talk in chat and don’t go all “YOU’RE WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS GAME CHEATER SCUM KYS I HATE YOU GAHHH THIS ONE GAME IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME.” they literally just teamkill eachother and abandon til they’re all gone. If there’s no reaction to them it’s a waste of time. These guys often spam chat with slurs lol.
  1. Guys who cheat because they want praise from their team:
Although we need a psych evaluation on #2 these guys are far more fascinating to me, mentally anyways. Also depressing. These are the guys who just maybe need some friends, who just want to be recognized for something positive and cool. But they suck!!! Or they just don’t want to put in the work, either way these guys are usually meek and softer spoken. They just could use a hug or something. Typically actually pretty nice guys, like I said, incredibly depressing. I’ve had some of these guys get apologetic and sad sounding when you call them out with certainty. Bummer.
  1. The guy who needs to justify his cheats:
Ever hit a nice one deag (or even a regular ol easy shot) and the guy with the brand new account goes “lol” or “k” or “yeah right”? (a million ways to accuse someone of hacks without outright saying it). Then for the rest of the game just blatantly cheats lol. I’ve had these guys ‘toggle’ (they were def cheating before) because of HEADSHOTS ON PISTOL ROUND. Absolutely retard levels of cope in this archetype. I guess if you’re a cheating trashcan that means anyone better than you is also cheating. Wild shit.
  1. The blatant waller who ‘heard you’:
These guys feel the need to type in chat after EVERY KILL (not just one but every single one almost) that you did something to reveal yourself. You might say “well maybe they did hear you, why accuse them?” No. These guys, without ANY accusations in chat will justify from the get-go how they get every single kill. Imagine someone kills you and types “wtf I’m not cheating.” When they were never prompted once. Not even with a “?”.
  1. Cheater accusing others of cheating:
Well well well looks like little retard closet shitter met a bigger fish. These guys are more of a subset of closet cheaters and not their own type. I’ve had guys who blatantly closet all game and will CRY in the chat that someone MUST be cheating on the other team. I mean how could he possibly not be able to kill these guys right? MUST BE CHEATING. These guys differ from #4 a bit cause these guys don’t ragehack but just cry and cry in all chat. They never turn it up a notch. Just continuing to trace ppl through walls yet their preaims are dogshit. Go play Roblox or something if you can’t go positive with cheats. Weird statistic is these guys sound fatter than the other cheaters, every time. Like especially with extra fat on their necks cause it creates a specific fat guy acoustic.
  1. The guy hiding his cheats so hard he’s USELESS:
This one is particularly funny, watching these guys’ pov is always interesting cause at one point in the game you’ll be watch him check some insane obscure off angle perfectly then for the rest of the game buddy is a braindead retard. These guys will willingly swing looking the wrong ways to sell it, or just do shit that doesn’t make sense in terms of gamesense (for all you retarded cheaters out there, a part of gamesense is your understanding of where the enemies could be due to your DEDUCTION SKILLS and not walls, crazy I know). These guys never spray through smokes, and react purposefully slow to killing enemies on the edges of smokes. Any normal player wouldn’t bother considering what looks sus if they know when/why they’re spamming walls/smokes. Definitely play it way too safe.
  1. Lastly, but not least. The only cheater archetype I have any kind of respect for:
THE CHINESE BUSINESSMEN.
These guys will not say or type anything all game. Strictly business only, they don’t care what anyone says to them. These fine gentlemen are just simply ranking up the account, then selling them. These guys actually get some of value out of their time. Probably not a lot of money, but still money. Truly just entrepreneurs of an era. Hats off to them.
Did I miss any? Let me know. These are just the personalities I’ve run into. You’re all such interesting people I can’t wait to meet more of you.

2024.05.19 12:00 LilliepupYT (At LEAST) One Headcanon For Every (Former) Chromatic!

SO LIKE- I MADE THE WORST HEADCANONS EVER THE OTHER DAY- SO HERE'S A FEW FOR THE OLD CHROMATICS
Gale - He actually has a bit of a playful side, and he's nice to anyone who's nice to him. (If) he has time off, he'll sometimes help Lou with his snow cone business, usually simply by suggesting better locations to sell them at than Mystic Mountain.
Surge - He and Brock are really close friends. He's one of the reasons that Brock even gets out (Ofc not excluding 8-Bit and Rico). He's 100% more of a show-off than an actual hero. Also, his favorite games are DDR's.
Colette - She and Edgar are cousins, so she always pesters him by either ranting about HER headcanons, fanfics, and who she's currently obsessed with. She also often tries to pressure R-T into telling her juicy secrets about the Brawlers.
Lou - He's actually friends with Surge, and they've been trying to perfect an energy drink-flavored snow cone for quite some time. Lou's also completely oblivious to why his snow cones aren't selling.
Colonel Ruffs - While he may seem tough, he has a soft side. He loves being pet and playing fetch, but would do anything to not admit it. He also feels a bit like a father to Squeak, and doesn't seem to notice Eve's feelings for him.
Belle - She's one of the smartest Brawlers in the entire park. She's not actually a villain, and she only steals as a vain attempt to run the park broke. The only thing she and her gang's been able to do is annoy them.
Buzz - He absolutely loves being in control of any and every situation he's in. When under pressure, he's actually a decent leader. He took his job as a lifeguard for 2 reasons: The authority, and so that he could sit in the tall lifeguard chairs to make up for his height.
Ash - (Oh boy, one of my favorites. Now which one do I choose...) Ash created the R. A. T. S. Bots himself, and he somewhat treats them as if they were his kids. He hates Kit for multiple reasons. While in battle he can get pretty upset, most of the time he's actually mundane.
Fun Fact: It's canon that Ash wants to be an actor, (In the Spanish version of Brawl Stars, it says it in his bio. See for yourself)
Lola - She hates Mico with every fiber of her existence. She only deals with Gray since he doesn't talk, but still gets upset when he "gets in the way". Her favorite thing to do is to see how dramatic she can make a situation.
Fang - He's usually the one dragging Buster into most of their chaotic situations. He surprisingly gets along well with Lola. He's also really into sports, especially baseball and football. Soccer is a close third.
Eve - At first, when joining the Starr Force, she simply wanted to be with Ruffs to support her kids. Over time she realized she had more complex feelings. She has mixed feelings about the Botany trio.
Janet - Friends at the beginning, her relationship with Melodie quickly shifted into a rivalry when she started to take a more "aggressive" approach when it came to their music. A lot of the time Janet's responsible for Bonnie, which can easily get out-of-hand.
Otis - He likes messing with Hank, but never takes it too far, since he's actually a bit scared of him. His favorite places to graffiti consist of the surrounding area of the Stunt Arena (What I like to call the Stunt Show area), within the Velocirapids water park, and even on the Fantasy Castle walls.
Sam - He used to love robots, and was decent a making them, until the incident that left Belle with only one arm. He claims he hates them, but he actually still likes them, he just doesn't put as much trust into them anymore.
Buster - While he's slightly more cautious than Fang, he still gets into a lot of trouble with him. He only wears sunglasses to try to look cool and menacing, which actually surprisingly works with some people.
Mandy - Chester's her adopted brother. She likes having him around sometimes so she can let her anger run loose a bit on him when no one else is there. She hates to admit it, but she's a bit impressed of how high Chester's social status is.
R-T - (OH GOD- We got to my other favorite. Uhm-) He's fluent in sign language. Despite literally his entire existence being to answer and interact with the visitors, he's a bit introverted. He's also pretty jumpy, but can be menacing when he wants. He's somewhat like a little brother to the twins, but also the leader. He actually has a bit of a chaotic side to him, but his programming blocks most of it out.
Not-So Fun Fact: His two halves are sentient, the upper half being more stick-to-the-program, while the lower half is more of the heart, creating relationships with the other Brawlers. When he's all together, he has internal conflict. :(
Maisie - She loves the thrill of danger, which is why she's dealt with Fang and Buster for so long. She also loves watching horror films, and practically any other movie or show that's high in adrenaline.
Cordelius - He may be hostile to strangers, but he's also really protective of his friends. His closest friend is Lily, who when he met, despite his usual hostile demeanor, took her right in with almost no questions asked.
Pearl - Sam had actually built her a long time ago as a gift for Belle before the incident. When he re-discovered her, he decided to give her a chance. She quickly became like a daughter to them.
Charlie - She's actually Gus's older sister (He was born AFTER their family moved from France). While he was into ghosts, she always loved spiders. She owns 2 pet tarantulas, named Flux and Tango.
THIS TOOK ME AN HOUR WHAT- MOST OF THESE I HAD TO COME UP WITH ON THE SPOT SINCE THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE IN PARTS- WHOOPS

2024.05.19 11:50 The_Vivisci Looking for the name of two mid 2000's games

Hello there,
Im looking for the name of a couple of RTS from the mid 2000 era.
The first one is from the Middle Ages, all I remember is that in the cover of the game you see a knight with a Greathelm on him. The overall color palette of the cover I think it was purple/dark blue, but Im not so sure about this.
The other one is a medieval fantasy game, is not Armies of Exigo, Battle of the Middle Earth nor Warcraft. All I remember is that in the cinematic intro of the game there are some sort of orc/monster faction attacking a castle controlled by men, and they are using a really strange trebuchet to do so.
I hope you can help me if you can.

2024.05.19 11:41 Geeky-Pastimes Idea for what the Traveller really is (and the Final Shape, the Veil and the Witness)

What if the Traveller IS the afterlife, like a supernatural being that souls go to when they die?
-it might go wherever the most death is in the Universe, it came to the Sol system knowing the war that was to come
-it explains why our 'GHOSTS' can bring us back
-the Veil can be used to access it. As in 'crossing the veil', it separates our world from the afterlife, but is more physical than we thought.
-Maybe it sees itself as saving us from the Darkness. Which is essentially loss and the void.
-Cayde-6 would be inside the Traveller, along with everyone we've killed
-Maybe the Witness is on a mission to get someone back, or even an entire species after they were wiped out?
Or
-Maybe the Traveller is collecting souls until it has enough to restart the Universe, that is known as 'The Final Shape'. At that point it wipes out the Universe and starts again (very Bungie), seeding it with the souls it has taken.
Perhaps the Darkness emerged as a protection from this cycle, and the Witness has seen the death of the universe many times before (explaining the name 'The Witness'). They have finally amassed enough power to take on the Traveller to try and stop the cycle of destruction and rebirth.
I could imagine the Final Shape ending with the destruction of the universe (a reboot ready for Destiny 3) but with our ghosts and guardians being protected from it by the Darkness (and maybe the sacrifice of the Witness), so we would continue the Witness's plan to take it on in the next Universe.

2024.05.19 11:37 YogurtclosetOk5348 Rivian should dominate with R2/R3

Was contemplating Rivian’s future as my R1S is in service (nothing major). Managed to get a Mustang MachE and have been driving that for a few days. Current owner of a Model 3 as well. For reference, been driving EVs since 2014 including BMW i3, Leaf, e-Golf, Fiat 500e, Model 3 and now R1S and the MachE as of a few days ago. Have also driven the Model Y and Model S but not extensively.
Thoughts on R1S: Nothing else like it out there. Utility, style, range, storage, comfort and quality.
Thoughts on R2’s competition. Let’s take the Model Y & MachE as they seem somewhat similarly sized/priced.
The MachE, I’m truly sorry if you have one. Sure this is subjective but it’s my post so I get to be subjective, the MachE is like you didn’t know where to park your money and you decided that burning it was better, that you needed to be miserable but pretend to be happy. Drive is comfortable but it “drives” like poop (lots of understeer), acceleration is lacking, UI/Controls all feel dated, even with Apple Car play (feel free to hate on this post if you like Car play). I understand some of the conveniences it brings but it cluttered the UX for me so meh. What’s the deal with the stupid startup/shutdown music and why do I have a “start” button again? Still better than the 500e ignition switch with key for an electrical vehicle but that was clearly a compliance car, the MachE is not. The interior door handle is cute but also silly. Interior overall feels cheap. The rear hatch cover is flimsy as heck. The software is so unpolished and that volume button in the screen looks kinda cool but limits what you can do, software wise) and the novelty wears off quickly. I could go on, but this car just isn’t for me. Every drive I find myself calling it names. Unpleasant ones.
The Model Y, assuming no build quality problems and feelings aside of the man in charge, it’s a decent car. Good performance, good tech, reasonably smooth ride, doesn’t understeer and just drives reasonably well. Good storage. A bit lacking/barren on the interior. Overall reasonable package for a good price if you like an egg-shaped vehicle on wheels. The Model Y and Model X both do nothing to inspire on the outside, for me, and to each their own.
If this is Rivian’s competition for the R2/R3S, Rivian will eat this market alive IMO. Yes I’m aware there are other vehicles/contenders out there like the Volvo, perhaps one day Lucid’s SUV etc.. but I don’t have experience with them or they’re not out yet so I can’t comment on those.

The chunky knit felt soft, keeping me cozy as I braved the winter's icy winds. But what made this balaclava really stand out was the signature box logo on the front. It added a touch of edginess to my everyday look, turning heads wherever I went.
But, there was one minor downside - the face opening was slightly more generous than I would have liked. When the wind picked up, or I took a sharp turn, some cold air still found its way in.
Overall, though, this balaclava kept me toasty while adding a bit of panache to my style, making it worth the investment.

🔗Carhartt Black Cotton Face Gaiter with Filter Pocket

https://preview.redd.it/vfqmwyh3rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=763c698bc503638fa8abe0ddc5c75abb4e11f1f0
I've been using the Carhartt Black Cotton Gaiter with Filter Pocket for a few weeks now, and I must say, it has been a lifesaver during these pandemic times. As someone who needs to wear a mask at work, I was initially apprehensive about how comfortable the gaiter would be, but boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
First off, the fit is just right. It's adjustable, so it's easy to pull it tighter or looser depending on how you want to wear it. The one size fits most, so it's a great option for those who want a gaiter that can adapt to different head sizes without sacrificing comfort.
But what really stood out to me is the filter pocket. It's designed to accommodate a filter, and I found that it actually works quite well. With just a small piece of filter, the gaiter provides a great level of protection without feeling too claustrophobic or uncomfortable.
However, there were a couple of things that I wasn't particularly fond of. First, the stitching seemed a bit flimsy at times. I had to be extra careful when washing it to avoid any unraveling, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall, though, it held up pretty well despite its slightly weak stitching.
The other downside was that it wasn't as easy to get on and off as some other gaiters I've tried. It took a bit of fumbling around to get the elastic cord to secure itself properly, which was a bit of a hassle.
Despite these minor issues, I still highly recommend the Carhartt Black Cotton Gaiter with Filter Pocket. It's comfortable, effective, and a great option for anyone looking for a reliable mask alternative during these challenging times.

🔗Carhartt Force Mask: Fast-Dry Winter Balaclava

https://preview.redd.it/8taciqm3rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afed3ca32fa711fc68e2a9dfbdee8330c7109920
I've been using the Carhartt Men's Force Helmet Liner Mask for a while now, and it has been a game-changer during my outdoor adventures. The full-face protection that extends below the neckline is a fantastic feature, as it shields me from the biting cold and howling winds. I particularly love the face mask, which can be tucked under the chin when not in use.
One of the highlights is the Carhartt Force fabric with Fast Dry technology, which wicks away sweat for added comfort, even during heavy activity. This is perfect for someone like me who tends to sweat a lot during my adventures. The interior of the mask feels incredibly soft and cozy, thanks to the fleeced material.
However, there are a few cons to this product as well. First, the mask can get a bit rank due to my persistent breathing through it. I've ended up washing it a hundred times or more and it still shows very little wear.
Another feature that could be improved is the neckline. If it were two inches longer, it would provide better coverage and feel even more comfortable.
Overall, the Carhartt Men's Force Helmet Liner Mask has been a crucial addition to my wardrobe for those cold outdoor days. It strikes a perfect balance between comfort and functionality, although there is always room for improvement.

🔗Carhartt WIP Black Mission Balaclava

https://preview.redd.it/b87skly3rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=169b7ad4f9f639775f4ec1319d589988bd6c3b9a
Ever find yourself shivering in the chilly outdoors, needing something to keep your face warm without blocking your view of the world? That's where the Carhartt WIP Mission Mask comes in. Made of 100% polyester with a thickness of 220g/m², this mask effortlessly covers your head, face, and neck. The best part? It lets you see the world around you without obstruction.
Now, let's talk about the pros. The polyester material is durable and comfortable, perfect for a range of activities from hiking to city exploration. The mask itself is a solid black, giving it a sleek and modern look, which can blend in most outdoor settings. The military label adds an element of ruggedness, perfect for those outdoor enthusiasts.
However, there are a few cons to mention. While the mask effectively keeps the chill at bay, the 39 cm height might not be enough for those with a taller stature. Also, some users might find it slightly heavy on the face over extended periods.
Overall, the Carhartt WIP Mission Mask is a reliable and fashionable solution for those looking to withstand the cold without compromising their view. Just remember, it's primarily designed for cooler weather, so you might want to opt for another solution in extreme-cold situations.

🔗Carhartt Flame-Resistant Force Balaclava for Comfort and Protection

https://preview.redd.it/jzqa4fg4rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfbbf328251fb7ad19761a050d9bea5b5f2d9f26
The Carhartt Flame-Resistant Balaclava proved to be a reliable companion on chilly days at work. I loved the full face coverage that extended below the neck. The FastDry technology kept me comfortable throughout the day as the sweat was wicked away, and I felt cool despite the heavy tasks on hand.
I appreciated the force technology that pulled the mask down below my chin when needed. However, the drawback of this balaclava was its thickness - it was not as ample warmth on my face as my expectations.
Despite this, I would recommend it for those who prioritize comfort and functionality while working in risky environments.

🔗Stay Warm in Extreme Conditions with Carhartt's Fast-Dry Helmet Liner Mask

https://preview.redd.it/v0h7dfr4rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9770ea30cf71da1711bc574bb4e03ffaeeaa8063
The Carhartt Men's Force Helmet Liner Mask is a reliable companion for those harsh, freezing days. Just like the name suggests, it really does force out the chill. It's a bit like a superhero cape for your neck - you can tuck it into your clothing or wear it loose, and it's always ready to deploy when the winds come howling.
The face mask has a nice feature that pulls down under the chin when not in use. It's a little bit like a superhero who can change shapes - it turns from a full-facial protection into a handy scarf for your winter stroll. When it comes to comfort, it uses technology that's akin to a superhero's invisibility cloak. The material wicks away sweat, keeping you dry and cozy.
The mask is made from a blend of fabric that's more like a superhero's suit than a simple piece of cloth. It's made from 88% polyester and 12% spandex. This strong blend ensures the mask fits snugly without feeling too tight, and it makes it durable enough to last through many winters.
There's a thing about this mask which reminds me of Batman's utility belt - it's full of surprises. It has a full-facial protection that extends below the neckline, which ensures that no icy wind will catch you off guard. And for those times when a little extra chin protection is needed, it has a nifty feature that can pull the front end up, but it still allows enough breathing room.
The material is quite breathable but remember, it’s not designed or medically certified to stop airborne disease or protect from viruses. However, it does a commendable job of keeping out dust during winter, which is a relief when you're working in an environment that's full of dusty snow drifts.
The design of the mask is simple yet effective. Its quick-dry technology, the antimicrobial finish, and its flat-seam construction all make it an excellent choice in a pinch. Just like a trusty sidekick or a sleek racecar, its one size fits most, and it can be easily washed. The face mask will fit perfectly snug under a helmet, providing extra warmth.
The material is quite breathable, but it can get a bit rank from your own breathing, especially after a long workday. But, it shows very little wear after many washes.
However, one thing to note is that you won't be stopping an actual criminal with this mask, it’s not designed or medically rated to provide protection from viruses or airborne disease. So, while it may not be a James Bond-style gadget, it's still a pretty decent investment for a warmer, comfier winter experience.
This Carhartt Balaclava isn’t just a protective gear; it’s like a superhero's secret weapon that you can tuck under your shirt during those cold and harsh winter days. It’s like wearing a little bit of warmth right under your nose while you go about your day.

🔗Cozy Carhartt Balaclava for Outdoor Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/esaefni5rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b85f915ed468c58757ea3eb2bec49ae349426c9a
I recently had the opportunity to test out the Carhartt WIP Remi Hood Balaclava, and I'm excited to share my experience with all of you. I decided to give it a try as a versatile piece of clothing to keep me warm during those chilly outdoor activities.
The very first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the high-quality materials used to create this hood. At 100% acrylic and 5-gauge, it certainly felt luxurious to the touch. It's a great choice for those cold days and nights out.
In terms of its design, the Remi Hood delivers a minimalist, yet sleek look. I particularly loved the script logo on the hood, which added a touch of elegance without being too overpowering. The soft acrylic backdrop made it incredibly comfortable to wear, and it fit perfectly despite only having one size.
Despite being so comfortable, I couldn't help but notice the occasional itchiness from the acrylic material. However, this trade-off was well worth the overall warmth and comfort the Remi Hood provided.
Overall, I highly recommend the Carhartt WIP Remi Hood Balaclava for anyone looking for a practical, stylish, and comfortable way to stay warm during those chilly outdoor adventures.

🔗Carhartt Balaclava: Durable Rib-Knit Insulated Face Mask

https://preview.redd.it/gj9lfir5rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7e7d6656d46b2b43307d3dfded31d30cdcfbe9d
I recently had the chance to try out the Carhartt Black Knit Insulated Face Mask, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer when it comes to staying warm in cold weather. The highlight of this face mask is its long neck, which provides not only enhanced protection from chilly winds but also a greater sense of comfort and security.
One of the things I appreciated most about this face mask is its acrylic rib-knit fabric. It offers just the right amount of insulation, keeping you cozy during those frigid winter days. The softness of the material also ensures that it's comfortable to wear, even for extended periods.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks I noticed while using the mask. Firstly, the overlock stitching, which is designed to resist abrasion, can sometimes be a bit annoying as it tends to catch on clothing and other surfaces. Secondly, the mask can become quite wrinkled after washing, which may affect its overall appearance and effectiveness.
Overall, the Carhartt Black Knit Insulated Face Mask is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable, warm, and comfortable winter accessory. Its unique features and high-quality materials make it a standout option in the market, even if there are a few minor drawbacks to consider.

🔗Carhartt WIP Brown Balaclava for All Seasons

https://preview.redd.it/id7fcmg6rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f45bce00e88e154dcb8aa4af22b574e0f9497442
I recently gave the Carhartt WIP Storm Mask a try, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me during these chilly months. Made of a cozy, warm acrylic fabric, its comfort is unparalleled. The stretchy rib knit construction makes it fit like a glove, and the Carhartt WIP logo on the cuff gives it that classic touch.
One downside I noticed was the color of the mask appearing more reddish-brown in the picture than what I received, but that didn't affect my overall experience. Overall, it's a great tool to protect against the winter's harshness and make my commutes more enjoyable.

🔗Off-White Remi Balaclava by Carhartt WIP - Rib Knit, 100% Acrylic, 5 Gauge

https://preview.redd.it/t8k4v1r6rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ec1401ffe1d9a8134fe08c6e476090ecf88f412
The Carhartt Work in Progress Off-White Remi Balaclava was a game-changer for my daily routine. As someone who's always on the go, the height of 36.5 cm was a perfect fit, allowing me to stay comfortable and protected. The 100% acrylic and 5-gauge material proved to be both durable and cozy.
The label with the script logo added a touch of class to the overall design. However, the one downside was the balaclava's trim, which felt somewhat too tight and constricting. Despite that minor hiccup, the Remi Balaclava has undoubtedly become a staple in my wardrobe.

🔗Carhartt WIP Storm Mask: Winter Gear for Full-Face Protection

https://preview.redd.it/6ntcq297rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d077cbb519f5e84cb91b15237ebc6d65ea45366
I recently tried the Carhartt WIP Storm Mask in black - a snug little warm-up you might want to explore this winter. Made of a stretchy, four-gauge rib-knit acrylic fabric, it feels soft and cozy against your skin. The one-size-fits-all approach means it's perfect for all genders and head sizes. Although it covers the entire face, it still has a subtle see-through pattern over the eyes.
If you live in a chilly area, this might be the right piece for you. It's perfect for keeping your face warm, shielding you from the harsh winter cold. However, be aware that it may get a bit itchy after a long time of use. Overall, it's a pretty handy, comfortable and stylish bit of winter attire. So far, so good!

🔗Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Hood: Adjustable Balaclava with Quilted Nylon Lining

https://preview.redd.it/g5qxtck7rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c7bd9ddc99fadbd852c698827597d34b74f3a04
I recently purchased the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Hood for my coat, and I must say I am quite impressed. The quilted-nylon lining provides warmth and comfort, while the three-piece hood construction and draw cord adjustable with cord lock allow for a perfect fit. Although I have faced some difficulty with the triple-stitched main seams coming undone after a few months, overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.
The hood has come in handy during those windy days, providing adequate coverage on the sides and top. However, the snaps on the hood may not align perfectly with the coat, causing a minor inconvenience.
In summary, the Carhartt Men's Washed Duck Insulated Hood offers a decent fit and warmth, but the snaps may require a little tweaking to work correctly.

🔗Carhartt Camo Balaclava with FastDry Technology

https://preview.redd.it/nqi4js08rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1ded5d332ed60b3e8d30c87e512cda58869f03c
As a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, I recently tried the Carhartt Camo Fleece 2 in 1 Headwear, and I was thoroughly impressed. The headwear not only provides adequate warmth but also offers excellent protection from the elements. The 2 in 1 design, with a pull-down face mask, truly makes this product stand out.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of the Carhartt Camo Fleece Headwear is its FastDry technology. This feature really comes in handy when I'm out in the cold for extended periods, as it ensures my face mask dries promptly after use, maintaining its effectiveness. The fact that the mask can be tucked up into the hat when not in use is a simple yet effective design that adds convenience.
The Carhartt leatherette label sewn on the front is a thoughtful touch that adds a certain elegance and authenticity to the headwear. It makes the product stand out from others in the market, giving it a unique identity.
However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks with this product. While I appreciated the face mask, it could have been slightly longer to ensure better coverage and tuck-in capabilities. Additionally, I found that the fit around the ears could be slightly better, as I experienced some slippage with my current headwear size.
Overall, the Carhartt Camo Fleece 2 in 1 Headwear combines comfort and protection in one convenient package. It's perfect for those who spend time outdoors, hunting, or simply need to keep their face and ears warm in cold weather. With its unique 2 in 1 design and FastDry technology, this headwear is definitely a worthwhile investment.

🔗Carhartt Fleece 2-in-1 Winter Protection Balaclava

https://preview.redd.it/tkgj8ru8rc1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78d6640d793379f00c819f877e88ca7394318a76
When I was using the Carhartt Fleece 2-in-1 Headwear, I noticed how versatile it was. With the ear flaps and pull-down face mask, I felt like I had complete control over my level of warmth. As one reviewer mentioned, the hat really delivers warmth during the coldest of winter days, and it's perfect for when you need that extra protection.
However, there were a couple of cons that I came across during my experience. Firstly, the size seemed to be a bit small, especially for those with larger heads or those who wear glasses, as mentioned by some users. While it was a small issue for some, others reported having cold necks when using the headwear.
Lastly, the face mask was not detachable, even though it's very useful in cold weather. This made it a bit inconvenient for wearing while engaged in lighter activities, like working around the house.
Overall, I found this product to be a really useful tool for the unpredictable winter weather. It offers both warmth and comfort, and the moisture-wicking backing helps keep any moisture away from your skin. Despite the minor cons, I would definitely recommend the Carhartt Fleece 2-in-1 Headwear to others looking for all-weather protection.

2024.05.19 11:18 JG98 Forgotten legend Shamshad Begum, the Panjabi singer that defied social norms and became a prominent Panjabi and Bollywood playback artist

Forgotten legend Shamshad Begum, the Panjabi singer that defied social norms and became a prominent Panjabi and Bollywood playback artist
Shamshad Begum (April 14 1919 - April 23 2013), though primarily known for her vast contribution to Hindi cinema, was a vocalist who transcended language barriers. While her career undeniably shaped the soundscape of Bollywood, her Panjabi roots and forays into the language deserve recognition as well.
Born in Amritsar (some sources state Lahore), into a family consisting of seven other children, Shamshad Begum was raised by a mechanic father and a homemaker mother. She is believed to have received initial training in music from her father. Recognizing her talent, her family encouraged her to pursue a career in singing. This was considered a bold move in a society which still placed more conservative views on women in the performing arts.
Her professional journey began in Lahore, then the cultural hub of Panjab. There, Shamshad landed opportunities to sing for radio broadcasts and possibly even stage performace. As she got a little older, a similar tale of challenging societal norms took place when she fell in love. In 1934, at the age of 15, she once again defied societal norms as well as family opposition to marry Ganpat Lal Batto. This interfaith marriage would prove to be a strong and unwavering relationship, which eventually resulted in the birth of a daughter named Usha.
In 1940, Shamshad Begum would make strides in her singing career when she made her playback singing debut in the film 'Heer Ranjha'. This would mark the beginning of a prolific career that would eventually see her record over 6,000 songs in various languages, including Panjabi. Though Hindi films became the primary focus of her career, she continued to lend her voice to Panjabi productions throughout her career.
Shamshad Begum possessed a distinctive and powerful voice, capable of both delicate emotions and robust energy. This versatility made her a favorite among music composers. In Panjabi cinema, she collaborated with notable music directors like Hansraj Behl. Their songs, like 'Ambian Butiyan Te', showcased her ability to infuse Panjabi folk melodies with her own captivating style and became fan favorites.
Though the specifics of her contributions to early Panjabi filmography are limited, it's evident that her voice resonated with Panjabi audiences. She sang romantic ballads, playful dance numbers, and even patriotic songs that stirred emotions during the tumultuous partition of Panjab.
Shamshad Begum's career peaked between the 1940s and 1950s. In 1955, the death of her husband in a car accident led her to withdraw from public life for a period. Though she did return to singing occasionally, her career had shifted away from playback music.
She lived out the rest of her life with her daughter and son-in-law in Mumbai, devoting herself to her family, particularly her grandchildren. This period of seclusion even led to some media confusion, with rumors of her death circulating in 2004. She passed away peacefully at her Mumbai residence in 2013 at the age of 94.
Despite her reduced presence in the later years, Shamshad Begum's legacy endures. Her Panjabi songs continue to be cherished by music lovers. Some of her most well known Panjabi songs include 'Cheti Doli Tor Babla', 'Batti Baal Ke', 'Chhabbi Di Chunniyan Mein Mal Mal Dhondi Aan', 'Mahi Gaya Pardes Mein Chham Chham Rondi Haan', 'Teri Ghain Di Rakhi', 'Lamba Lamba Bajre Da Sitta', and Heer. While these songs have earned wide acclaim, it is important to mention that a large portion of her Panjabi language artistry has been lost and is yet to be rediscovered.
In Hindi cinema she is known for her collaborations with composers like S.D. Burman, Naushad, O.P. Nayyar, Ghulam Haider, and Madan Mohan, who recognized her versatility and crafted iconic numbers that showcased both her power and emotional range. From the romantic 'Milte Hi Aankhen' in 'Babul' to the playful 'Leke Pehla Pehla Pyar' in 'CID', her voice brought these songs to life. She also excelled in soulful renditions like 'Holi Aayi Re Kanhai' in 'Mother India' and powerful declarations like 'Teri Mehfil Mein Qismat' in 'Mughal-e-Azam'. Many of her Hindi film hits, featuring a blend of Hindi and Urdu with Panjabi influences, became timeless classics.

2024.05.19 11:14 mickmoon The browns have been objectively the worst franchise since the inception of the nfl

To say otherwise is ignorant. They have been a laughing stock year after year, outside of very few seasons when they had a winning record which their fans treat like their Super Bowl. They are a joke, the browns will always brown. Their team name is the color of shit, and they play and manage accordingly. Paul brown cursed them after being good in the 50’s with 8 total teams for competition pre nfl giving false hope to a city destined to be consistent bottom feeders. Their fans got what they deserve, the worst franchise in nfl history while also having your team named the least cool color of all time that is also the same color as shit. When people see brown, they think shit; and that accurately represents the franchise without fail. Ohio is also just flat and boring and no one has ever looked forward to driving through Ohio on a road trip because it’s just a boring state end to end. You are disappointed when you see the welcome to Ohio sign and relieved when you see you are now leaving Ohio sign.
They have done nothing of note since the Super Bowl was introduced. They haven’t won a division title since the 80’s. Their team even moved to Baltimore where they immediately lost the curse and have been competitive nearly every year. Fuck the ravens too but at least they put a respectful product on the field. They’ve never even made an afc championship game, they’ve never even sniffed success. That is hard to do in the 55 of 57 seasons they’ve existed in the nfl (subtracting the two seasons their team moved cities on them bc anywhere is better than Cleveland). The Steelers have been in 16 afc championship games and won 6 of 8 super bowls in that same period. To say there is a rivalry between pittsburgh and Cleveland would be inaccurate, because rivalries have back and forth and somewhat evenly successful outcomes on both sides. The Steelers have completely dominated the browns sans 2-3 years in the history of the both teams. You may have guessed at this point that I am a Steelers fan, you’re got damn right. A model franchise of grit, honor, and success. Factually the most successful organization in nfl history with 6 super bowls.
The browns are a joke and will continue to be a joke until proven otherwise. I’m tired of hearing them being off seasons champs every year just to be the same browns in the end. At least bungals fans know they’ve done nothing and know their place, lovable losers. Time to be concerned if burrow doesn’t show up this year. Kemo Von olhoffen ended the season the bungals had their best chance when Carson Palmer was legit a threat. People forget how good Palmer was until that injury. Browns have never been a threat ever, and need to understand that they are nothing but shit and have never been anything other than brown. I love football, go Steelers and fuck the rest of you afc north fans. Respectfully.

2024.05.19 11:10 nsulik Irish great grandmother

I am searching for the parents of my mother's grandmother. Her name was Susan McNichol. Her 'return of a death' (Phila, PA 1903) states she was 38 years old and born in Ireland, no parents. Her church marriage (1885) lists no parents. The only census I can be certain is actually Susan is 1900 (married) the informant states she was born in Ireland 1863, immigrated 1871. There is a Susan age 7 in the 1870 census, however, she is missing (at 17) in the 1880 census of this family. Also her siblings do not seem to match the siblings in other descendants trees. I checked her cemetery records but they also do not list parents. I have done searches in Irish records for a Susan McNichol (hoping she was born a year later when records were required) but have found nothing.
DNA: I have tried to do Leeds. While my father's side splits out pretty neatly into 4 groupings, my mother's side seems to hold some craziness. It looks like pretty most everyone who has tested is related to my mother's on one set of grandparents: Susan & her husband John. One line is clearly John's the rest split out as McNichol, but two separate groupings (possibly the half family?) I'm in over my head with this part. I have worked up trees on 7 distant matches that Ancestry suggests are related. For each of the three that ancestry suggest have common ancestors(two from the same line and one from another line) Ancestry indicates that their ancestors are both half brothers of Susan's. Also have worked up 4 other matches all descendents of what appears to be another line (sibling or half sibling) but cannot follow it far enough to find a CA. This line does not match the two lines above at all, maybe this one is not a half sibling?
The half siblings all go back to Co Londonderry, Northern Ireland between Dungiven and Garvagh. (I have searched all the nearby parishes for surnames.) Looking at Griffiths, and the N Ireland census etc there are a number of McNichols in this area, the most toward Errigal, but some near Limavedy as well. Her spouse's (my G-grandfather) family was from just south of Limavady but their (RC) church records are all located in Dungiven. I have found one DNA line on this side. Based on best guesses,I think it is possible her family of origin 'may' be within the triangle of Errigal, Limavedy, Dungiven.
Looking for some suggestions of where to go and what to try next?

2024.05.19 11:09 Superego2121 [ PC ] [ 2015-2018 ] Dungeon/ Fantasy RPG

I don’t know if anyone outside of the Uk will remember but there is a website called Friv 4 games and after about 9/10pm it would switch to friv night which was a whole load of new games. I always used to find the game this way but i have since never been able to find the friv night game selection. It was a fantasy rpg where you chose between a dwarf, an elf, a knight that general kind of thing and you would run through a dungeon from a top down camera perspective fighting various enemies, i never got very far through the game as i was young at the time of playing it. I could recognise it once i saw it but i cant think for the life of me what the name would be. Any help appreciated thank you

2024.05.19 11:08 MonstersInTokyo Core Armor Sets

Just recently got into KDM by buying a used core box. Really enjoying this game a lot. One of my fears was building the miniatures; I am very bad at this kind of fiddling. But somehow fell in love with it too (yes, even Young Rachel).
After finishing the narrative figures of the core box I am now planning to build the armor sets. But this is where the confusion begins. I watched a video by Bra Mithra and read an article by Fen. They are from 2021 and 2020 respectively.
First important info for me: some of the Wave 2 Expansions only have additional weapons and no dedicated armor sprues. Second: Gambler's Chest and Wave 4 Expansions are using narrative miniatures exclusively. Parting with the custom armor set sprues.
I plan to fetch the GC next and probably the "old" expansions in case BF has a good deal.
Now, my first approach was to glue some of the recommendations from Fen and Bra Mithra. But with the Gambler's Chest and the new expansions (e.g. Black Knight coming with new narrative minis) I will probably end up building a lot of "meta" duplicates.
I am still very early into the campaign and have no real clue about good loadouts - finding out is probably a big part of the fun. But I'd love to give my dear fellow players more options at the table than the starting survivors and the four narrative miniatures.
I could just build some core minis that I find cool or having equipment that we are currently using in our campaigns. But maybe I'll regret that soon, because those make no sense once we get a better grip of better builds.
I could build some of the recommended ones. Probably creating a lot of duplicates in regards to the new and future content based on narrative miniatures.
Or I could just leave them on the sprues, feeling overwhelmed.
What would you do with the core minis if you just started in 2024?
Thanks!

2024.05.19 11:01 MarkedMatt Answering popular questions related to the lore

Why didn't/couldn't Sidorovich, Barkeep and Sakharov recognize Strelok during SoC events?
This might seem like a plothole, but it actually isn't. Sid didn't know Strelok personally:
"Yeah, I've heard of a stalker by that name. Rumors is he's one of the few who went to the center of the Zone and made it back. Still, we got so many of these legendary stories about stalker heroes that I can't really guarantee anything. At any rate, I've never dealt with him personally. It seems he has his own trading channels. Anyhow, just ask the folks here in the Zone and you'll be sure to learn a lot more." Clear Sky confirms that his words are true, because during CS events it was Fang who had a business with Sidorovich and not Strelok.
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/A4Pxgp.jpg https://snipboard.io/piHsac.jpg
Barkeep's dialogue:
"An experienced stalker as far as I know. He used to "work" through the northern exits from the Zone. He was hardly ever seen here but there are rumors that he took his group right into the center of the Zone."
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/Y4EmM2.jpg
About Sakharov - There are plenty of possible explanations for the fact that he doesn't recognize Strelok, but the closest we have to an official explanation is included in the design document of the original storyline of the prequel, where it's said that Strelok's face was bandaged at the time:
"Strelok, whose face is still covered with bandages, comes to Sakharov and tells that he is planning a trip to the CNPP."
Of course, it's not really canon, but it still works.
Why won't military just bomb the Zone?
First of all, they already tried but failed:
"I can't really get into that - we've got some discipline in this place, after all. Our general Krylov certainly used to be a military man. I heard a few stories about how, just as the Zone formed, the government organized a military operation in here. They were sent to the very center of the Zone with an order to blow it all to hell with nuclear explosives. Can you imagine what that means? These guys were sent with no protection, no detectors, no information about what to expect in the Zone. Many perished in anomalies right off, and most of those who didn't were done in by an emission. The few survivors were left behind to die a slow death. General Krylov is one of those few. I don't know who he's pals with, but he hates the military ever since he and his buddies were sent straight to their deaths. He's got some connections in Spetsnaz though. Spetsnaz only got real men. Sometimes Duty crosses paths with them. That's pretty much it - consider it the abridged version." - Dialogue of Zvyagintsev
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/HP1pVq.jpg
Second of all, it's obviously a very bad idea.
"Everyone who believes in the Monolith is completely nuts. They keep banging on about it but nobody actually knows what's in the center of the Zone. An invisible crystal that fell from the skies...ha-ha-ha! I reckon one of the secret labs blew up - I mean some stalkers used to work in a few of them. But, obviously, you can't bomb the Zone. Not only will the radiation spread all over the world, half of Europe would be flattened by the Zone's reaction. "Someone" has gone totally mad lately - I heard they're killing normal stalkers for no reason at all. How do you like that? Damn fanatics." - Dialogue of Random 100 Rads Bar Dutyer
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/oWRgr0.jpg
Is the Zone growing?
Only SoC presents this idea. Neither Clear Sky nor Call of Pripyat mentioned anything about Zone's expansion. In fact, Hermann in CoP just said that Zone is evolving, while Loki directly said that it isn't getting bigger:
"They're idiots, that's what I think. I mean, why the hell would they want to destroy the Zone? it's not consuming precious resources or getting bigger... or anything. They could just sit there and study it to their heart's content - just think of how many scientific discoveries could be made... I mean, in the history of man-kind, no one has never been able to understand antigravitation, right? And in the Zone you've got ready-made antigravitation devices lying all over the place. It wouldn't hurt to kick their asses out of here, but it's too much hassle. By the way, don't be confused by our relations here at Yanov. We are at war... it's just that Yanov has been made neutral territory, if you know what I mean." - Loki
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/UQ8ZEO.jpg
If The Zone is practically known globally then how come we aren't seeing other world governments trying to send people of their own to study it?
"Right... I seem to remember you asking me about something last night, though I can't recall... Ah, got it. You wanted to know why it's only our eggheads messing around in the Zone. Curious why the foreigners won't show up, even though there's enough stuff here for thousands of Nobles prizes... Alright, let's see. First of all, what the heck do they need coming down here for, when they can simply pay some of our guys and get the results on a silver plate? Second of all, they've actually been there themselves, and quite a lot of them, too. It's just that in the last two years these gringos have been badly scared of going into the Zone..." - Fragment from PDA entry called "The chronicles of egghead globalists"
"Ever heard about Station Thirty-Two? That's where they all bit the bullet. It was all quiet at first, pretty much normal... They'd be reading their meters, taking samples, poking their gear into anomalies... And then they all started going nuts. Every friggin one of them. Everyone slowly going off their rocker. One of ours, the one that retired eventually, told me about it... Some actually ripped their own throats open, other would smash their heads against the wall, and some would simply... Gun in their mouth and... And then the beasts started swarming all over them. Those few who were still sane enough barricaded themselves in the house. You get the picture, right? Dark night, all the local beasties outside, and people going nuts one after another inside. In short, in the morning those who still had it together broke out of there somehow. Went straight on, even got caught in some anomalies... Got to the Rotten Forest... But none of those who had been left behind have been found. they say loads of controllers were recorded in that area. that's how it was... Since then, no one goes anywhere near Station Thirty-Two, and the foreigners steer clear of the Zone... " - Another fragment from that entry
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/ZEXgNy.jpg (Part 1) https://snipboard.io/gksjHB.jpg (Part 2) https://snipboard.io/Zc8W2G.jpg (Part 3.)
"There are always developments in the Zone, and they're always interesting. I already told you about Monolith - they're on everybody's tongue... Have you heard about a new major expedition into the Zone? Technically, they're environmental researchers from the UN, but that's just on paper. Sure, they got a couple four-eyed scientists, but just one look at all the others tells you they're seasoned fighters. No idea why they're here. Oh, and dig this: they're not using guides. Either they're being guided by satellite, or their mission is so secret that no one else could be let in on it. They seem to be approaching the Radar. I dunno how this will end, but I got a feeling it won't be pretty." - Dialogue of Hog
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/oejv2a.jpg
What happened to Scar?
There can be many answers to this question. Scar's fate could have turned out in many ways - perhaps, if the brainwashing process failed, he became simply zombified; if it was successful, he could've died while being transported in the death truck; if this didn't happen, he had a clearly defined task to perform, and could die while trying to do it; if he survived, he might still be wandering around the Zone as an amnesiac.
It's also possible that he simply died during the emission, or was captured but somehow managed to overcome the brainwashing process and escaped from whatever laboratory it was taking place in.
Monolith's weaponry. How do they have so many guns?
It can be partially explained by a couple of things. First thing that should be noted is that Monolith before trilogy used to be different faction. It can be assumed that they already had decent weapons (I have another post which includes dialogues about older Monolith) https://www.reddit.com/stalkecomments/1ax5u7x/interesting_facts_about_the_monolith_faction/
Second thing is that even rookies know that they gotta get better equipment before going deeper into the Zone:
"For now I'm just gaining experience and saving up some coin. As soon as I have enough, I'll buy me a good shooter and armor, and head straight for the center of the Zone. Rumor has it some guys already made it there and found the Wish Granter. That's where I'm gonna go. And when I find it, I won't go wrong with my wish, you can bet on that!" - Dialogue of Cordon Loner in Clear Sky
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/bqyuzA.jpg
And lastly, C-Consciousness Representative said "From the moment the Zone was formed, many people have tried to get to its center". Many people seem to think that Brain Scorcher only turns people into zombies, but it seems that it was also capable of converting them to Monolith:
"Brothers, as we were patrolling the outskirts of the Dark Forest we came upon an unfaithful loner. We did not kill him, seeing as he was already on his way to conversion, although he was still half-way in his animal state... Such is the wisdom of the Monolith: once again it revealed to us the true countenance of our enemies." - PDA entry called "A convert in the Black Forest"
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/jC2MPJ.jpg
About their suits - there can be more than 1 answer.
It's interesting to point out that Monolith suit was located in lab X-18. Either the faction stashed them there, or they were here before. A possible explanation could be that such suits were used by guards of the secret facilities in the Zone before the 2nd disaster
I think this is important to point out too
"Stalker suit from the Monolith faction. The producer is unknown. Its protective properties are slightly worse then those of the PSZ-9a military bulletproof vest. Its structure is similar to the suit popular with neutral stalkers which combines a bulletproof vest and a radiation protection suit. It provides good protection from gunfire. Its level of anomaly protection is low due to the absence of an air" - Description of Monolith Suit
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/XITJs4.jpg
"Stalker suit manufactured by "folk craftsmen". It is an effective combination of a light military bulletproof vest and of a rubberized fabric suit. It is reinforced with inserted kevlar plates and provides good protection from weak gunfire. All in all it is highly inefficient for carrying out deep raids and serious operations in the knots of the Zone." - Stalker Suit (Sunrise)
Additional proof: https://snipboard.io/zMGpqd.jpg
Lastly, Yantar loner NPCs in Clear Sky mention in their dialogue mention very interesting thing:
"I heard a whole faction went missing in the Zone. You ever heard of Monolith? Well, they used to protect the Zone from others, but they made a move towards the center right before the Emission. Nobody has heard from them since, but recently some real aggressive stalkers have been attacking from where the Scorcher is, killing everyone and asking no questions. I know because I saw them myself around the military warehouses, and I reckon they might be those same Monolithians who disappeared. It wouldn't surprise me, because their uniforms looked real similar." Other than a fact that Monolith faction of the trilogy had members from older Monolith who wore similar uniform, dead bodies of Monolithians in Clear Sky, that are scattered over the Zone very well could be the dead bodies of older Monolith faction
