Shane diesel wife

I will be needing to upgrade my truck eventually. Been debating if I want to go 3/4 - 1 ton diesel or gas. Currently in a 5.7 Litre Hemi half ton. I’ve been hearing the days of getting 500,000 miles on diesel engines are gone but if you were to get a newer or newish/used diesel engine deleted would that increase the reliability and longevity of the engine?
The reason why I need to upgrade to a bigger truck is because I haul a travel trailer in Canada on mountain grade highway passes and plan on doing big long road trips with my wife and kids in the summers. The diesel with a turbo would be great because some of our highways 4,300 ft in elevation. My current truck does the job but you can tell it’s working very hard and I’m probably around that fine line of my payload capacity with my trailer, camp gear and family in the truck.

Hey folks, I’ve been hauling my camper with Chevy Silverado 1500. My wife and I were talking and we thought about getting a new truck. I’ve been always a GM guy so I always choose Chevys. However, I have driven Ford before.
I’m thinking of trading my truck in for a diesel. Which one do y’all prefer? As we were looking up online, we saw that Ford can haul up to 22,000lbs whereas Chevy can only haul up to 16,000lbs.
The debate continues between F250 or Silverado 2500.
Pros and cons?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am an experienced journeyman at a Cummins Inc shop. I am trained and certified on everything from the 2.8L to the 15L. We are an hourly shop and I make $40.04/hour. There has been a lot of shop politics and drama in the shop, and it’s really getting annoying. Plus the price of everything is going up. My wife and I are comfortable but everyone could use more money. I had an interview with a Ford dealership who wants a diesel tech. The problem is that it’s a flat rate shop. They haven’t sent me an official offer but they got me in the door with $60/hour. I’m concerned to go flare rate and loose money because I’ve never done it. Also, I’d have to learn the Powerstrokes more and everything on the chassis. Right now all I do is engine work (mainly CNG). I’d also be loosing a ton of vacation time. Should I go and try it or just stay safe at Cummins? … (I’ll update this with the offer when I get it)

Oh man, this song sucks. It’s so schlocky and stupid. Unfortunately, it was indicative of the type of schlock that would top the charts in the uncool 70s. It is widely considered one of the worst songs to ever top the charts, and I agree.

We have a 2018 Peugeot 3008 1.6 diesel, car has been great but the wife only drives a 10km round trip to work Mon-Fri so it doesn't get a long drive unless I take it at the weekend. It is out of warranty since December and recently had to have the intercooler changed (€850) and also due a service in 6 weeks.
We are now thinking of getting something like a hybrid or plug in hybrid that would cover 90% of the weekly driving on electric, but with the option of fuel also and something that has a few years of warranty. Cartell valution is coming in at 20k for the 3008.
Any recommendations for a used SUV\Crossover style to go for with a decent spec? heated seats/heated steering wheel etc that wouldnt be more than 30k?

I'm a first time buyer. Me and my wife are planning to live in a Skoolie (short bus or long bus) or a high roof extended van for 6 months of the year (in the summer). We can both work fully remote.
We would prefer to buy something that is ready built and make customisations as we go. We both have very little DIY/power tool experience so we would like to see how we get on making changes before committing to building something from scratch.
Our budget is 25-30k USD. We are not looking for "Instagram luxury". Just something that is comfortable, light and airy.

We enjoy hiking in mountains so the vehicle has to be capable of driving up and down steep inclines. This has somewhat put me off buying a long bus with a lot of weight as I'm not sure if it would be suitable for these types of roads in the heat. I can only drive auto transmission. I'm a confident driver, however I have no experience driving larger vehicles. So a short bus or a van seems more realistic. I'm 6ft and my partner is 5.4ft.
Shortlist so far (within budget):
1992 International/Thomas bus - fully converted with 36,938 miles. Six cylinder International diesel/ Build looks amazing and it has so much space. Main concern is the weight and driving it on steep inclines. 31.5’ bumper to bumper 236” wheelbase 8’ wide 10’10” tall.
1991 Blue Bird bus - gorgeous bus. Looks pretty unique so might have re-sale value. Converted into a store so it has a nice open layout and furniture. Would leave me with little room in budget to add living requirements. Other concern is the 248k miles.
2002 Ford e450 skoolie - 7.3L powerstroke diesel. 185k miles on it. Fully converted to a high standard. Only problem is that it's designed for someone who is 5.9ft. So I won't be buying this one but I'm looking for other e450s as I've heard the 7.3L powerstroke diesel engine is reliable and the interior has enough space for what we want.
Alternatives: Dodge Sprinter 3500 (2008), Ford Transit 350 (2017), Ram ProMaster 3500 (2017-18)
Buses are more expensive to maintain and are less fuel efficient. The main benefit vs. a van is the space. If I can realistically drive on mountains roads then I'm all for getting a bus.

My partner and I bought a 2022 Sportage SX 2.0L petrol fwd about 12 months ago, had an unlucky accident, wrote the vehicle off, and our insurance sourced us a 2023 model SX as a replacement. Overall I was pretty happy with the car, and my wife loves it. I just wanted to see if anyone knows of any current issues relating to the petrol engines. I've seen some things regarding 2012-2018 models, and ongoing issues with the diesels, but can't seem to find anything about the 2.0 petrol engines. I realise it's a new vehicle, without much time to show potential issues.

I have a truck that has been going two years. This is year three. It was a side hobby but getting to be to much for me since my wife took a new job. The truck is a freightliner mt45 Cummings diesel. Yearly I earn $100-150k with $20k-30k tax free stipend. We are full time on the road traveling to different jobsites to work projects, 1-2 months long. Hence the pickup and camper. Typically work 6 to 10 months out of year.
So far this year I've earned $68k take home roughly. I bought my wife the mazda with $10k down in February and have about $4.5k already tied up on a vacation for July. Our typical expenses run about $4.5k a month total. Is it dumb to pay off the truck to pay "myself" the 8.76% interest? This would also lower our expenses by 1k a month. We've been thinking about the coast fire strategy recently too.
I'm 26 years old and my wife is 24. My question is should I withdraw some money from brokerage to pay off atleast my truck. Thanks for all advice!

☝🏼are true🫣 I know we think about reality tv being scripted but I honestly believe today it’s harder to trust the cast member’s story and motives for being on a reality tv show than the probability of it being scripted! If we just start with The Real World reality shows have been on tv for over 3 decades now and added with social media there’s no denying the many financial advantages and opportunities available for the cast members of these shows. Obviously with that comes a never ending stream of people willing to do and say anything for some coin and their 15 minutes of fame! In regards to the cast on this season Ashley and Shane standout to me just for the fact of her being 8 months pregnant! I can’t wrap my head around why this is the time they would pick to search for a sister wife especially when the one looking to be intimate with the new wife is Ashley. This is my first theory posted here so please take it with a grain of salt.
As my brain is on "break week" mode, I decided to take another look at the mother flame panel where we see the machine with the mother flame inside.

We are already assuming from multiple theories on this subreddit that the A&MU can mean Atom because of how we pronounce it in japanese.
However, I haven't seen any theory or info on the S-108, and here is where I decided to investigate and dig a little bit deeper.
This is the part where the theory becomes farfetched, but let's assume the 108 related to a date, in this case, 10th of August (10-8).
I decided to look at important events in this date since Oda also loves his references related to important historical events and I came across this:
"In 1893, Rudolf Diesel's prime model internal combustion engine, a single 10-foot iron cylinder with a flywheel at its base, ran on its own power for the first time in Augsburg, Germany".
This particular event reminded me a lot of Vegapunk's dream of free and unlimited self sustaining energy, especially when reading the "ran on its own power" part, so I decided to dig a little deeper.
When researching Diesel's career, I encountered the following piece of text:
"In early 1890, Diesel moved to Berlin with his wife and children, Rudolf Jr, Heddy, and Eugen, to assume management of Linde's corporate research and development department and to join several other corporate boards there. As he was not allowed to use for his own purposes the patents he developed while an employee of Linde's, he expanded beyond the field of refrigeration. He first worked with steam, his research into thermal efficiency and fuel efficiency leading him to build a steam engine using ammonia vapor."
When reading this, I couldn't help but notice how it seemed very similar to Vegapunk's so called second sin mentioned in the latest chapter where he says that he studied the forbidden era himself despite not being allowed to do so.
Let's now take a look at this passage:
"In 1892, after working on this idea for several years, he considered his theory to be completed. In the same year, Diesel was given the German patent DRP 67207.[10] By summer 1893, Diesel had realised that his initial theory was erroneous, leading him to file another patent application for the corrected theory in 1893.[10]
Can this realization that his theory was wrong and then later corrected mean that there is something else that is still needed in order to properly replicate the eternal flame? Perhaps related to Joyboy/Luffy/Nika.
Now, let's take another look at the machine that holds the mother flame in the panel. We already know that the mother flame was used by something when Lulusia was wiped off the map, and we can assume that it was something in the air, so a flying weapon of sorts.
With this in mind, I decided to research the first diesel engine used in an aircraft and came upon the Packard DR-980. Below, you can see what it looks like.

Now, I'm not sure how everything will turn out in the story if there even is a connection to the diesel engine but let me know what you think.

For context me and my wife have been married for 2-3 years and in the past had some crazy fights.. pretty much.. she responded physically to every altercation she didn’t agreed with(she has a difficult family history)… we talked with professionals it’s better now.. not solved though.
I’m at a point that I’m fed up with the relationship being like it is, but still try to get things to a better place. Can’t really say I’m totally in love anymore. But I like her and take care of her.
I have an important job in a European government, that I am proud and really enjoy. She ”can’t“ find a job.. so we agreed she takes care of things at home until she does.
The other day she was a little sick, and the higher ups had left work really early. I told her that, she started asking me to leave early multiple times, that she wanted to take a walk. So I told her at X hour I will leave. so I finished everything, and thought - well it’s highly improbable that I will be need now. so I risked leaving early to be with her.
I said to her that I was leaving work. I live 10m from work. So when I arrived I call her for her to leave, for us to go on said walk. She was on a call the first time, so didn’t pick up, called a second time. And told her to leave home that I was outside. When to my astonishment she says “ well I want to take a bath first” to what I said “are you kidding me? You have been asking for me to leave the whole afternoon, we agreed on the time, I risk leaving early and now you are not ready?” Then she says that I’m talking bad to her, and now she doesn’t want to go, I said no I’m not, and she hangs up the call.
I didn’t even shout or anything, just talked normal with an upset voice.
2 minutes later she calls saying I’m a brute, a monster, a beast and that I talk bad to her and that I ruin everything and it’s my fault for not going out now then immediately hangs up the call.
I was really hurt. Because I truly think I did nothing wrong to deserve that and once again Major gaslighting..
So since the car needed diesel I went to gas station. 15m later I arrived home and she had left.
I then call her… nothing..
Me being fed up.. and having another house, I went there, and stayed there. Later at night she text me “did you call?” I laughed to myself.. pissed now.. ignored the text.
so now almost for a week I left. During a call we only talk briefly about it. 0 apologies.. and now she says that me leaving is that same as asking for a divorce. And that she will not accept the situation.
Honestly I only left because I’m hurt .. and since in the past she is aggressive, from things like this.. I was afraid for my safety and for hers too. I could respond to the aggression with more aggression and I really don’t want that. I told her that..
Btw ours fights are always like this kind of stupid stuff..
Am I missing something? Please I really need an outside perspective.

Basically I think the answer I will receive is I should do a gas 3/4 ton based off of what I’ve read but I’m also in a slightly different position than most. Towing wise I help run a couple car washes and run maintenance on College apartments. So I haul some of the equipment and then pallets of flooring, tile, tools, etc. and the yearly dumpster trailer of mulch or rock. So nothing insane but every week or 2 I tow something.
However my situation differs at the fact that the truck id be looking at will be new-2year old and sub 30k miles and I’ll be looking at driving the same truck the next 8-12 years and my wife’s family owns multiple car dealerships (the main US Brands). So I will get said vehicle at cost and maintenance will be at cost or below. Even my father in law has offered for me to “order” a truck for the dealership that he’d drive for 6-12 months as his demo and be able to write the cost down for the dealership.
Not the most knowledgeable on trucks but was leaning towards the duramax as I’ve read it’s the least “extreme” of the 3 main diesels Also I occasionally do some off roaring seasonally.

Diesel heater display showing wrong voltage, any ideas?
Hey folks, so my wife & I have been living in our van for 2 months now, all been going great. With the warmer weather we haven't used our heater (it's one of those Chinese diesel heaters) in a couple of weeks but we're about to head north on our first road trip.
Today the voltage readout on the heater control panel has dropped to 8V, below the minimum voltage. I've checked the voltage at the heater & it's reading 13.25V. There's continuity between all the wires that run to the controller, all 0Ω other than 1 which is 3Ω (doesn't seem high enough to cause any trouble to me). No corrosion anywhere. Can't for the life of me figure out why the controller thinks the heater is only getting 8V.
Any ideas? It's likely to be chilly where we're going & we're supposed to leave in the morning so would really appreciate any ideas!

I’ve got a family of four and am looking to get a new truck. I currently have a ‘17 Tacoma which I am extremely happy with, but we’ve outgrown it. Its daily use only gets at best ~20 miles. But in the summer we pack it up and drive 300+ miles round-trip to go camping.
I don’t have to haul the camper, as it’s on a permanent spot so I don’t need anything heavy duty, but might eventually get a boat, so I want to keep towing performance as an option for the future.
I’ve narrowed down on a Toyota Tundra, GMC Sierra, and Ford F150. Let me know if I’m seriously missing out on Ram or Nissan.
The wife and I like a more premium interior and creature comforts like leather and a sunroof, but don’t need to go all out on “fully loaded” options.
The small diesel available on the Sierra has appeal for the long distance hauls. The Tundra for its reliability and my familiarity with Toyota, and the F150 I’m just looking at as a third option.
Anything to look out for? Just want to get more opinions before buying.
