Raonaid Murray was a 17 year old Irish teenager who was violently murdered on the morning of September 4th 1999. Despite extensive investigation and appeals, her murder has never been solved and the murder weapon has never been found.
Raonaid Murray was born on January 6 1982 to parents Jim and Deirdre Murray. She also had two older siblings, a sister, Sarah and a brother, Daniel. She had attended St Joseph of Cluny secondary school in Killiney where she was a high achiever. She completed her leaving certification exams in 1999. After she had completed school, she went on to work part time in a fashion boutique in the town of Dún Laoghaire in Dublin. However, she intended to re-sit her leaving certification at the Institute of Education and hoped she would be able to attend the arts faculty in University College Dublin after completion. Her family stated that she liked reading and poetry and had expressed hopes that she might one day be a successful writer. Her friends fondly remembered her for always wearing bright colours, her optimistic attitude and her commitment to an active social life.
On the evening of September 3rd, Raonaid spent time socialising in Scott's pub in the town of Dún Laoghaire. She had finished her shift at the boutique at around 9:40pm and was excited to socialise. CCTV footage shows her leaving the shopping centre carrying a bag and walking with a friend. However, this would be the last time that she would be seen alive. At around 11:20pm, Raonaid left the pub so she could go home and change as she had purchased a new outfit that day and wanted to wear it out. She had planned to meet her friends again at the paparazzi nightclub in town. The walk home should only have taken her 15-20 minutes but she never made it. Approximately 20 minutes after she left the pub, an eyewitness claimed they saw her arguing with a young man on the Glenageary upper road. She then crossed over to Silchester Road and entered the laneway that would take her to her home in Silchester Park. Almost immediately after this, a female voice was heard from the alley saying something like "Leave me alone" or "Get away" followed by "Fuck off". A loud woman's scream was then heard, followed by silence. One of Raonaid's friends, concerned as to how long she was taking, called her house phone but when her father Jim answered, the friend quicky hung up.
Early on the morning of September 4th, at around 12:30am, Raonaid's sister and her friends found her body lying in the alleyway, 500 yards from her front door. She was still clutching her shopping bag that contained her new outfit. A Garda investigation would later reveal that she had been stabbed 30 times although many of the stab wounds hadn't managed to pierce her clothing. She had also managed to stagger 200 yards from where she was attacked to where she was found, this was determined by the blood trail. Gardaí strongly suspected that the perpetrator was someone she knew based on the extremely frenzied nature of the attack which could suggest a personal grudge. Raonaid had a deep wound to her chest, abdomen, right arm and a fatal wound to her left armpit. In addition, she had not been sexually assaulted and nothing had been stolen.
A large scale investigation was launched and over 100 Gardaí were assigned to the case but despite extensive interviews and searches, no motive was uncovered and the murder weapon was never found. Garda believe the blade used was probably a kitchen knife which further supported the theory that this was a crime of passion. By 2008, 8000 people had been interviewed, 3000 statements had been taken and 12 arrests were made. Despite this, no primary suspect has ever been identified and the investigation has effectively gone cold. A few months after her death, her gravestone was desecrated by an unknown individual/individuals which Garda believe could be people involved in her murder. A more recent review of the original investigation showed that Gardaí had botched the case from the start as they seemed to be waiting for a killer to simply present themselves. When this didn't happen, they ignored important clues, misinterpreted evidence, failed to carry out proper searches, and ignored their own procedures. According to one of the officers who reviewed the case, "It was nothing short of a shambles. They were convinced someone would present themselves or some family would contact them to say someone came home covered in blood. When this didn’t happen, the investigation just went nowhere".
In 2010, with the advancement of forensic technology, DNA was successfully removed from under Raonaid's nails. Curiously, when tested, it showed that the material belonged to a woman and it was confirmed that it did not belong to anyone known to her. This knowledge changed the line of thinking considerably as prior to this, the Garda had been adamantly searching for a male. It was theorised that if the attacker was a woman, it would explain why many of the stab wounds were weak and didn't pierce her clothing. In addition, a young woman was allegedly seen walking quickly away from the area shortly after the murder. Despite this renewed line of thinking, the investigation has remained cold with no new leads.
It's been 24 years since Raonaid was murdered in cold blood and nobody has been charged for this heinous crime and her family have still received no justice. Despite the offer of a €190,000 reward, the family and Garda have been met with silence. The investigation continues and renewed appeals for information have been made but to date, the case remains unsolved.

Why I'm switching to Linux :- my brother dropped my laptop nd I've to watch lectures so i tookout my 7y/o laptop but itsss so laggy now for some reason nd i heard that Linux is pretty light so i thought switching to Linux is the better option (btw even the video player lags :/ idk why)

Welcome one and all again to the 2024 Read-Along and Discussion of The Silmarillion here on tolkienfans. For Week 20 (May 12-May 18), we will be exploring The Quenta Silmarillion (The History of the Silmarils) chapter 16, "Of Maeglin."

Aredhel, the daughter of Fingolfin, resided awhile in Nevrast with her brother Turgon, but later went with her people to dwell in the hidden city of Gondolin. However, she soon wearied of her hidden life in Gondolin and was permitted to set out purportedly to visit with Fingon in Hithlum with three lords of the household of Turgon. Upon reaching the Ford of Brithiach, she commanded her companions to instead turn south in the hope of passing through Doriath to eventually find the Sons of Fëanor, "her friends of old".
Upon arriving at the borders of Doriath, they were refused entry by King Thingol. And so Aredhel and her companions instead sought the dangerous route between the haunted valley of Ered Gorgoroth and the northern edge of Doriath. This passed through the land of Nan Dungortheb, where Aredhel was separated from her companions. They searched but could not find her, and barely escaping death themselves returned to Gondolin to share their tale, and there was great sorrow at the assumed fate of Aredhel.
But Aredhel, having lost her companions, continued on and eventually arrived in Himlad, where she was welcomed by the people of Celegorm and waited for his return. There for a while she was satisfied, but as the year lengthened, she took to riding further afield, seeking new and unknown paths and fields. By chance, she crossed into the forest of Nan Elmoth, where dwelt Eöl, who was named the Dark Elf. In earlier days, he was of the kin of Thingol, but he had left Doriath and fled to the shadows of Nan Elmoth. He loved not the Noldor, but learned from the Dwarves much skill of metalwork, and was often a guest to the halls of Nogrod and Belegost. He espied Aredhel from afar and desired her, and ensnared her in enchantments so she could not find the way out, but instead came deeper into Nan Elmoth. Being weary, she finally came to the halls of Eöl, and he welcomed her, and took her for his wife, and it was a long time before any of her kin heard rumour of her again.
Though at Eöl's command she was required to shun sunlight, it is not said that she was completely unwilling to their union, and in the darkness of Nan Elmoth was born their son, who, in her heart, she named Lómion, which means "Child of the Twilight" in Quenya. But Eöl gave him no name until he was twelve years old, at which time he named him Maeglin, that is "Sharp Glance".
As Maeglin grew to full maturity, he resembled, in face and form, one of the Noldor. But speaking few words, except in matters important to him, he resembled his father in mood and spirit. Often he went with Eöl to the cities of the Dwarves, and learned much from them, especially the craft of finding ores and metals in the mountains. Yet he loved his mother more and would often listen to her tales regarding the Noldor, and the valour of the House of Fingolfin, while Eöl was abroad.
In speaking of her kin to Maeglin, Aredhel desired to see them again, and these tales stirred also in Maeglin the desire to see the Noldor. But upon revealing his inner wishes to Eöl, his father became infuriated, and threatened to bind his son if he would associate with the Noldor. Maeglin became cold and silent, and no longer went abroad with Eöl, and Eöl mistrusted him. One midsummer, Eöl went away to a feast in Nogrod. During this time, the desire grew hot in the heart of Maeglin to leave Nan Elmoth and look upon his mother's people and to seek the city of Gondolin. Seeing this, Aredhel was glad and they departed, telling Eöl's servants they sought the sons of Fëanor.
However, Eöl returned earlier than anticipated and found his wife and son two days gone. He set out immediately in wrathful pursuit. On entering Himlad, Eöl was ambushed by the riders of Curufin, and was taken to their lord. Curufin mockingly asked Eöl what urgent matter brought him to his land, and Eöl told him that he wanted to join his wife and son on their visit to him. Upon learning from Curufin that they turned westward, travelling along the northern fence of Doriath, Eöl asked leave to discover their purpose. Curufin instead coldly bid him go back to Nan Elmoth.
Thus Eöl rode off in haste, full of shame and anger. He perceived that Aredhel and Maeglin were heading towards Gondolin and rode after them. As the two arrived at the Outer Gate of Gondolin, they were received joyfully and passed inside the Hidden Kingdom, where Turgon listened with wonder to the story of his sister, and gave Maeglin the highest honour in his realm. Eöl watched them from afar and followed them to the city, but was taken in by the Guard, and was brought before Turgon after claiming to be husband and father to Aredhel and Maeglin. Aredhel confirmed this and Turgon welcomed Eöl as his kinsman, giving him leave to stay in Gondolin. But Eöl insulted the King, and bid Maeglin to "leave the House of the slayers of his kin, or be accursed". Maeglin did not answer.
Turgon then set a choice before Eöl and Maeglin of either abiding in Gondolin, or dying in Gondolin. Eöl stood a long time in silence, before he abruptly took a spear from under his cloak and threw it at Maeglin, crying "the second choice I take, and for my son also! You shall not hold what is mine!" But Aredhel came between the spear and Maeglin, and was struck. Eöl was restrained, set in bonds and led away. However the tip of the spear was poisoned, and Aredhel died in the night. Eöl was brought before Turgon and no mercy was shown to him; he was led to the Caragdûr, a precipice upon the northern side of the city, to be cast down. Maeglin stood by in silence, and Eöl cried out "so you forsake your father and his kin, ill-gotten son! Here shall you fail of all your hopes and here may you yet die the same death as I". And he was cast over the cliff-edge. Thus ended Eöl, Dark Elf, of the shadows of Nan Elmoth.
Maeglin grew great in stature in Gondolin, and was high in the favour of Turgon. He rose to be mighty amongst the Princes of the Noldor, and was the greatest other than Turgon in the realm of Gondolin. And yet not all things went as he would have liked, though he did not reveal his heart. For from his first days in Gondolin, he loved Idril Celebrindal, his first cousin, and desired her, but without hope. For the Eldar did not wed with kin so close, and further, Idril loved him not at all. Maeglin's love turned to darkness, and he sought more to have his will in all matters, no matter the cost to him, if it might grant him more power.
And so it came to be that in Gondolin, at the height of all its bliss, majesty, and beauty, a dark seed of evil was sown in the heart of Maeglin.[1]

1. Eöl is described as grim -- "his eyes could see deep into shadows and dark places." Does this just mean his eyes have adjusted to life in the dark, or is there also a hint of his being able to see beyond what is there, in a "foresight" or "farsighted" kind of way?
2. Maeglin and Eöl argue because Eöl won't let him see his mother's kin which causes a major rift between the two. Why did Eöl object?
3. What is significant of Maeglin's given name of Lomion, i.e. "Child of the Twilight" by his mother, Aredhel, but at age 12, Eöl named him Maeglin, i.e. "Sharp Glance".

This is gonna be a hefty and most likely triggering post for specific groups of people out there (meaning people who struggle with anger, people who don't want poltical content/opinions etc), so please stop reading and leave if you figure this is gonna be rough for you. This will (mainly) be about the conflict between Palestine and Israel. (and apparently a long one) No hate towards any specific groups of people, but I do have a lot of *frustration regarding behaviours*.
Before I start, I want you to remember some facts about me as you read;
I am autistic
I am heavily influenced by world peace, hate, racism and other unfair situations
I have incredibly high standards for myself that I strive to not break, including, but not limited to, being kind and respectful *always*, despite being in a bad mood, not liking someone, or disagreeing, especially political disagreements
I have always, and will always, stand against widespread hate, racism and other discrimination towards any specific religions, ethnicities, nationalities, cultures, etc.
I also want you to know that I named this throwaway accordingly.
So let's get this shitshow started then, shall we.
As the details of the conflict stands, it is beyond obvious to me that this is racism and, literally, a Holocaust. Not *the* Holocaust, but *a* Holocaust. Oxford Languages has the term defined as a destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war . I'd say that's very much accurate. Proof to come.
Regardless, this situation has had me very pressed the last almost 8 months, as I know most other people have been too. Without getting too much into the conflict itself, I want to talk a little about what I've seen from the Jewish community.
This is where I advise anyone who struggles with anger especially to leave and try to keep your day positive. If you have a magical potion to stay stable after this, who am I to stop you...
Alright, onto the dreaded part. And yes, I am stalling.
I have never, and I truly mean *never* had any hateful thoughts or opinions about religions (other than Christianity but that's one for another time), and as we are all aware of, The Holocaust had massive effect on the world some 80 years ago. I have always seen Jews as victims due to this, but in recent times I've realised that a lot of them, too, see themselves as victims. The issue is that they aren't the victims right now. They (Israel) aren't defending themselves, they have nothing to defend themselves against. Israel is currently doing the exact same thing as Germany did to them, to Palestine. Sure, maybe at some point who knows when, Palestine *was* the land of Jews, but since then, multiple religions have been thriving together on that land, including Jews. They were never excluded. From what I've understood, there weren't any wars or conflicts going on within the country that didn't happen elsewhere. The issue began when in the late 1940's zionists brutally murdered families to steal their homes. I'm sure the situation was so much more complex than that, but in a nutshell that is basically it. The fact that everyone today have been so desensitized from the travesties happening around the world is depressing and hope-killing. I truly am well on the way to giving up, and at this point in time I'm so angry all the time due to the Middle East's situation.
So a few weeks ago, probably closing in on months at this point, I randomly got a notification from reddit about someone posting on /Jewish. They didn't say anything explicit, so I pressed the notification and I was met with the worst victimization and ignorance I've ever seen. I truly believed most jews would see this for what it is, and not let some racist maniac spoon-feed them propaganda and hate, but I was brutally and humbly proven wrong. They were mocking proPAL parades, hating on news anchors and civilians alike calling this a genocide, insisting that Israel has no other choice, saying "casualties happens in war", convincing each other that zionism is a good thing, and feeling sorry for themselves when friends and families cut contact because they said they supported Israel and saw this as the only solution. Some might have been genuine problems, idk, but for the most part, that subreddit seems to only be about hating the rest of the world because their great grandparents were killed. I know I sound like a complete asshole, but the world isn't antisemetic anymore - they are actively looking for it and then using that one person telling them to stop feeling so sorry for themselves as proof that everybody in the world wants to throw them back in gas chambers.
I commented on my personal once where I mentioned that judaism and zionism are two separate things and got downvoted to oblivion. Someone replied saying that my comment was very much exactly what they too feel, but I got downvoted *simply because* I referred to them as separate entities. That is another criticism they've recieved lately; the pure idea of zionism is on the complete opposite side from what Judaism stands for. I've seen so many of the members there calling Jews protesting against Israel "self-hating" and traitors.
I've also made so many replies that I never sent because I know for a fact they would do anything in their power to ban me from ever using reddit again, and I wouldn't be surprised if I got doxxed and harrassed IRL from it. I saved them all, though. I found that it was kind of therapeutic to get it out, but it still bugs me that I never found a way to say it to them. I once also made a post about my rage for their behaviour connected to this genocide, but I thankfully stopped myself before I posted it. I'm so enraged by their sheer ignorance and hypocritical behaviour, all the while Gaza is still being eradicated and slaughtered, war crimes happening day in-day out, inhumane atrocities by the IOF being posted and hailed, and they have the audacity to say that they are the victims? That Israel has no other choice but martyring tens of thousands of CHILDREN? Starving the entire Gaza Strip, segregating West Bank, literally teaching their young in school to hate and attack arabs? That last one might not be true as I don't speak Hebrew or Arabic, so anyone could've just made up the translation, but I still feel it's worth mentioning in case it actually *is* real.
My point is that the guts they have to claim to be so moral, yet still be so unfaced from what's happening in Gaza is beside me. Sure, for those living near the Gaza wall, I'm positive that hearing bombs and screams were traumatizing as fuck, but to then leave for work the next day and claim that "shit happens"? It's insane! It's inhumane. They can leave whenever they like, children can play football (soccer) in the streets and not having to worry about shit, hotels and restaurants with 5-star ratings thriving, plants and flowers still blooming, absolutely no threats on a daily basis. The fact that people are still calling this a war, something necessary, is beyond devastating to me. There are millions still siding with zionism, claiming there's nothing wrong with the belief that you have an innate right to some dirt simply because your holy book says that thousands of years ago, your religion lived there, and simply because of that religious fact you are rightfully owed thousands of young lives, the death of an entire country with its own culture, just to feed the irrational religious political system? How in God's name has that ever, *IS* that still okay? If Muslims were the ones saying that shit, they would've been completely destroyed by now, today's generation wouldn't know what the fuck Islam was. They are still being slaughtered though, because they're saying it's *not* okay. How is that not racist again?
My brother and I got into a heated argument a few days ago about this. I am very much *for* Palestine to have human rights and to own their own land - he is very much *against* "ugly blackies" having any rights because they're *not* human. Boi when I tell you I got so angry I started crying. And the worst part about that fight? He claims that Jews aren't any better, however they still deserve to defend themselves against children running on the beach. "But Hamas-" is so over-used and outdated by now, it just proves that he doesn't follow up on statistics and evidence. Even if there only were one-sided news (from Gaza), the fact that the ICJ ruled Israel's actions a genocide and war crimes still proves everything he claims to be "n*****'s propaganda". And the fact that he so underminds my autism and *need* for factual evidence before discussing it also goes to show that he genuinely does not care about anything other than the black "terrorists" being eradicated. I said "So you're not just a racist, you're just plain racist?" he just scoffed and looked at me as if I just said the most nonsensical bullshit gibberish ever, practically saying "I'm not gonna say anything, but it really took you that long to realise?" Either that, or he actually didn't comprehend the words coming out of my mouth, like it was a foreign language or something. Because he genuinely does not have a single reason to be racist.
He can't even blame suicide attacks because 1) not all are carried by muslims, and 2) between 1981-2015 around 45,000 were killed by suicide attacks worldwide, where in 2019 the total death toll was only 1,699 more than amount of attacks; whereas in Gaza, between Oct 7 to present there are about 34,000 confirmed palestinian deaths, and assumed around 42,000 with unconfirmed deaths. If, in 36 years, "muslim terrorism" killed about the same amount as Israel has in almost 8 months, how on earth are Arabs the terrorists?
And I've also seen the argument that 30,000 is nothing compared to the total population in Gaza, as if that makes it okay. I will, again, make example of The Holocaust. When 30,000 Jews were martyred, people were already catching on, and this was without the technology we have today.
How have we been allowing this to happen to Palestinians *with* our technology today? Why haven't people been doing more; striking our jobs, cummute chauffeurs striking, proper permanent boycotts, more coverage from news anchors and private people alike? Even if it is to officially reclaim your love for white supremacy, you're still talking about it. Why are people still not reading up on this? Why does millions still not know that this *didn't* begin on October 7th? And why are there still those who claim that the past doesn't matter today? I have so many questions, and if I do get an answer I will only end up with more questions. How hasn't the world stopped over this? Why are people so okay knowing that there are children being intentionally murdered every single day? How can you go to work and talk about Dave's new tie? Or your 6 year old's birthday party with 15 other 6 year olds? Hasn't it crossed your mind that if the roles were reversed, your precious princess would be the one burried under tons of rubble, dying slowly while simontaniously starving, dehydrating, suffocating and crushing, and *knowing* that absolutely no one cares because you're [skin color] and it's normal for your kids to be horrendously massacred? "Oh but the Taliban-ISIS-Al Qaeda" OKAY so what are you gonna do to help save innocent lives and suffering??? How are you gonna contribute to STOP these organizations that have manipulated and murdered to rule their country and are intentionally making the citicens miserable? Are you even aware that your own govurnment is essentially the same fucking thing, just disguised as a well dressed, polite gentleman? Aren't you sick of all those ads on TV showing brown children with flies in their eyes? Or your mama telling you to think about the starving children in Africa? Because I am.
I am so sick and tired of how inhumane humans have come to be. You don't see animals (and I'm trying my best to not mention how humans *are* animals, guess I failed) intentionally kill another animal simply because they're that animal. They kill prey; polar bears kill seals, seals kill penguins, penguins kill fish, fish kill amoebas, and you can get to that result from absolutely everything. What you don't find as a natural event is a golden, brown mane lion attack and kill an albino lion simply because it's albino. You don't see a school of fish swim away from one with two heads, because "*omg Jared is such a freak with his two heads*." So why the FUCK DID WE START DOING THAT? My fellow gamers, for too long has our community suffered the indignation of an intolerable culture that has denigrated, besmirched, exploited, and has outright demonized our culture of unique individuals with a genuine love of a hobby that they see as profitable and progressive. But the truth of the matter is they were never really looking to be a part of our community, they simply wanted to use our community as a tool of activism and propaganda in the entertainment industry as it was extremely profitable, and they wanted inclusion in that division. Before Gaming had become a major source of entertainment, we were often categorized as anti-social or societies rejects where because we found more enjoyment in playing fictional characters and not spending as much time out and about, we never fully assimilated in society (which is a good thing if you ask me). Hollywood Execs who had ruined the movie industry turned their attention to video games as a source of income since video games had outperformed movies in terms of profit. This makes people like SBI look extremely disingenuous as they were not interested in gamers as a community with its own culture. They simply wanted to use it as another weapon in identity politics.

Microtransactions have been around for a long time; however, it has never been more potent and apparent than in recent years. It has aided in the dismantling and segregation of players on the ideology of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and has created another sub-culture of gamers who have no real drive to be better outside of how much money they put into the game. This has degraded our culture as well as we have become “fat” off transactional gaming but at the same time we have been “starved” of purposeful gaming where our achievements were our sustenance. I am not saying that microtransactions are bad, but when they are exploitative and predatorial like they have been and don’t give gamers room to grow, we become lethargic and unwilling to improve ourselves as gamers. Oversaturated microtransactional games are one of the many reasons why we have become complacent and unwilling to fight against the exploitative tactics used by big brand game companies such EA, Ubisoft, ActivisionBlizzard, NaughtyDog and so many other western business model companies. Western style games were not like this in the past, they had much more depth and actual effort put into them with the gamer in mind. This has not been the case for over a decade and our connection to western developers has been whittled down to just being transactional. That is one of the reasons why you see so many remasters and remakes in today’s gamer community. They have lost their willingness to improve as developers of games and simply accept corporate/share holder rules.
Game journalists also do not have any real integrity or purpose outside of being funded for their involvement in promoting IPG (Identity Political Games) in a positive light to the public whether it’s positively received or not. They are not interested in what we have to say, they all support the same agenda and that is why they are a dying breed. Within the next couple of years, they will be out of the job and more than likely they will not be able to stay in the industry giving how they have responded to past articles that have clearly been scripted on the premise of diversity and racism. Not only that, but most of them are also extremely hostile to the community as they stereotype and defame the individuals that are a part of the community they are supposed to serve. I have weighed our options and the best option for us now is this…...CULTURAL SECESSION. Losing copious amounts of capital and stock in the process, not to mention their reputation is permanently marred.
We must separate on every cultural level in terms of entertainment and ideology. We must reject everything from the west that promotes toxic western beliefs, practices, and exclusion from other cultures (i.e. Southeastern Countries such as Japan and Korea). Japan & Korea have been the targets of unjust discrimination from Western Developers, Western Journalists, Western Localizers (The Wokelizers) and Western Society Prejudice regarding their sense of aesthetics as Westerners hate the aesthetic sense of these countries. Additionally, heterosexual relationships with main white male characters turn antagonistic and spotlight stealing. This is deliberate as to promote the “Girl Boss” ideology to indoctrinate women into the Feminazi state of mind. • Dehumanization/Demonization: This is something that most military branches use in order to remove conscious inhibitions such as mass slaughter is wrong or categorization. By enforcing ideologies to denounce humanity in certain targets, it deactivates your conscience by saying this is not human therefore its ethically okay to treat this target without compassion and deny the fact it has sentience. We gamers fall under this category for journalists, developers, companies and society at large. This is a tactic we are familiar with to an extent as it implies that we are not normal when we do not do what everybody else is doing. “Geeks are the worse” or “Nerds need to fall into a pit of lava” are verbal dehumanization forms that most people in society say and we as Gamers tend to be relegated to those categories. This is their way of imposing the social hierarchy on us by establishing superiority. We know this as Gamers as we see it very often in the games that we play and some times experience it in real life.

• Deflection/Projection: This is basic psychology 101. By redirecting the conversation away from their mistakes and back on to the opposing view to avert blame and justify their innocence they can avoid criticism. However; deflection is a CONSCIOUS decision, meaning they have no real argument to justify their incompetence. If you can consciously process the situation, you have self-agency which means you don’t have a legitimate excuse. Projection is something else entirely. Most times, Projection doesn’t work on conscious decisions rather it is automatically deployed when feeling threatened, anxious or both. Instead of accepting accountability for feelings or actions that are deemed socially unacceptable they accuse others of committing that unacceptable behavior thereby exonerating themselves and proving that those feelings and/or actions are not their own.

These traits are so nefarious and unconscionable that I have a hard time believing that anyone could harbor them. However, given the social, political, and economic climate that we are in, those in power who use their influence on controlling society most definitely possess these insidious traits. Everything that they do is all about control and since video games are the biggest market in the world, they want control over it and the communities built around it to accrue more wealth and to use that wealth to subjugate other cultures. Mainstream media is a tool as well as mainstream organizations and sites to help accomplish this goal.
The government recently announced its intentions towards what they believe is “GamerGate 2.0” and now even the ADL has made an official appearance, referring to gamers as “extremist’s”. We know EXACTLY what they are doing, and they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore because they don’t think we are aware of their motives. This is just a pretext for them to exert even more control and we know why, it’s because they want the influence we as a community have to must serve them. So here is what we do my fellow gamers-
“In light of recent events and years of mainstream stigma, we the members of the Global Gaming Community [GGC] must officially renounce ALL TIES to the corporate western video game market. We have been financially exploited through predatorial monetization schemes, pelted with numerous articles of disdain and intentional misrepresentation from game journalists, news outlets regarding us as dangerous individuals and, even subjected to inferior products not only riddled with bugs but also products meant to push political agendas. For the preservation of our community and its unique culture, apart from a few select game development studios we officially sever all connections to western owned video game companies & their mainstream affiliates. From this point onward, we will no longer support western corporate developers, journalists and publishers that do not coincide with the goals of our community.”
Naturally this is completely optional. If you are okay with the state of the gaming community as it is, feel free to ignore this. But if you wish for real change and a break away from oversaturated monetization in the games you play and the push for radical ideological reform, then you are in the right place. Lets sever these rotted miasmic ties once and for all so that our community can be preserved and made better for future gamers. The more gamers who get involved, the easier it will be for us to finally break free from mainstream game companies and their associates.

A brief recap. In the opening episode, the Fireman had a sit-down with a man who at least looked like Cooper. Telling he was "far away", the Fireman made him flicker and disappear. Next, we may have found the man as a remote control in Mitchum brothers' house in P10, in line with "far away" being another kind of "remote", like in a dream where our memories get wildly different meanings and grow into unexpected stories.
After observing Candie's bloody entry to the story in P10, this "remote" character seems to have sought the headless version of Cooper, appearing again as a remote control and guiding him to electrocute himself in P15. In line with hearing, "Get Gordon Cole" in television, the remote would have done just that and got to Cole, once more showing up as a remote control in P3 when Tammy presented Cole and Albert a picture of a blurry figure inside the New York glass box. The figure seems to have been none other than Candie hunting the fly, connecting her seemingly harmless character to the reason why Cole was needed.
This third appearance might have been the remote's last, at least as a remote control. Tammy left it on the conference room table. As usual, there was no special fanfare about that, and Lynch left it for us to figure out what was important to understand his story.
Framed in front of the remote, there was a cup of coffee and a picture of a little boy wearing a uniform. Earlier in the scene, the picture was literally given to us as a clue to the "identity of the killer". Let's treat it as a clue, then, together with the coffee cup right behind it.
This cup with a uniform had once been remote.
The word "cup" sounds the same as "cop". Adding that to a boy in a uniform, we'd get to P9 when Betty shared some details of the past with Twin Peaks deputies the ranks of which now included her son, Bobby.

Betty: "Bobby, when your father told me this, you were a very long way from where you are today."

In other words, Bobby had been in a faraway place. That is to say, he had been remote, now possibly true in more than one meaning of the word. While the scene superficially gave us an emotional moment between the mother and her son, the ever-trolling Lynch would actually have been telling us that it was Bobby who had been the mysterious remote control.
In a possible throwback to the coffee cup next to the remote, the scene wrapped up when Betty turned to his son.

Betty: "Well, fellas, let's have that coffee."

As everyone burst to laughter, that typically indicated we just got some especially absurd twist in the story.
No backstory was offered how Bobby had become a deputy. Everyone at least acted like he indeed was one, but unlike other named characters working at the Sheriff's station, we didn't ever see if he had an office or a desk there. He was always walking in the corridors, entering rooms and hanging around with others.
This was also how we first met Bobby in P4, walking in the corridor. He had just went past the station's conference room - or perhaps he had come out of the room. There was nothing else in the direction he was coming from, and he didn't come from the other end of the corridor that led to the back office where Maggie and others worked.
The remote left the conference room.
Bobby stopped when the Sheriff called him. When the Sheriff walked past the open conference room door, we could see it was dark. No one was there. Yet, Hawk was supposed to be in the conference room looking for "something" that was missing, like seen next when the Sheriff and others joined him.
When glitches like this broke the continuity of the story, that seems to have been done to draw our attention to something important, in this case then to the conference room that was where the remote control was last seen and where Bobby might have come out of when the Sheriff spotted him.
In related developments, Bobby seems to have been the nameless "contact" that Ray told in P2 he had found to help Mr C get some "information" while Ray himself would have appeared as Sheriff Frank Truman, entering this dreamlike Twin Peaks storyline to manipulate Bobby so as to get the coveted information from Betty.
If you are a Ray, you need a remote for contact.
Reflecting these ideas to the remote control, we would get another absurd abstraction. There were repeated shots of people pointing televisions with a remote control - in P3, P10 and P15. This was possibly done to not only draw our attention to the device itself but also to remind us that the contact between the remote and the television happens through an infrared ray, another play with the name of a character, now with that of Ray Monroe.
Due to the infrared ray needing to point directly at the television, a remote control spends a lot of time towards the screen, literally checking every channel that has something to see. This appeared to be what Bobby had been up to when he reported to the Sheriff in P4.

Sheriff Truman: "Anything on your surveillance cameras?" Bobby: "Uh, elk, deer, raccoon, squirrel and a bear. If they're coming down from Canada in our area, I would've seen them."

Whatever we thought that would have been about, the story didn't get back to any of it. Instead, we probably got another complicated throwback to a previous scene with a remote control, again a good tad more suggestive than what we might be looking for.
The list of animals and the lone article "a" used for the bear would produce letters EDRSAB which is an anagram for BREADS. In P15, when Cooper clicked the remote control and froze Sunset Boulevard, there was Cecil B DeMille on screen, playing himself, of which we got some needless dialog.

DeMille: "Good-bye, dear." Norma: "Good-bye, Mr DeMille."

Nothing seems to go waste in Return but everything is in the service of the absurdly rich story. DeMille's last name is French and means a miller, one who makes flour. You need flour first, if you want to make breads next. Thus, after seeing the "miller" on one screen - then as a remote - Bobby would have got BREADS on the next one - now as a deputy.
This would get a further meaning because it was also breads that Bobby's daughter Becky delivered to RR Diner in P5, riding Steven's "another old car", the 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, where both of them snorted another kind of white flour. Ultimately, this probably was all about Bobby keeping an eye on his daughter who used drugs.

So long story short... My dad is kinda a history buff, he majored in it back in the 70s in Korea. When he immigrated to America in the 80s, he spelled our last name as "Noh". It plagued me all my life, Matt Noh it all, Matt Nohs nothing, Do you know if matt noh knows or does he not know. whatever.
He claimed we were the last of the mainline back when I was in highschool (about 10 years ago now) and so I called his bullshit and when I visited Seoul I made sure to go to Yang-Yang and I literally walked around this place full of farms and knocked on doors until I found a Noh-shi who had a Jokbo. Surprisingly amicable people if you're a cute little kid who barely speaks Korean and its like... 2010. And I found my family in this Jokbo, I called my dad, he explained everything and thanked them, they cried for some reason, yada yada. Story of a highschool Korean American trying to find some semblance of meaning, being born into some family in America. (I only have family members on my mom's side who reside in Seoul, my own last name was mysterious to me)
My problem: there is literally nothing online about that part of the kingdom of Korea. There are some Korean wiki pages about this last name that I found ages ago, I can't find them anymore, besides that I don't have all that much information. I'd love to read and hear what the heck my ancestors were up to, I'm sure I'd hate them, but it would at least be interesting. If you have a good handle on the Korean side of the internet, in terms of researching history, I would love to learn more.
With the death of my older brother, I'm the last of this line. Me and my wife don't currently have strong plans for children, and they would be Pakistani-Korean. There will be Noh more full-Korean Nohs lol, and thats probably for the better, the two males in my nuclear family have had so many mental issues. I'm lucky enough to just have depression and be very quiet, but I'm willing to reach out for this out of curiosity. So let me know if you can help!

In dragonflight it was revealed that there is another continent called Avaloren. Odyn sent several exhibitions there to track down "heritics", they failed and eventually gave up. Whoever lives there is apparently poweful enough to fend of the very same forces that defeated the Black Empire.
In the War Within xpac we'll meet members of the Arathi Empire, a vast and powerful empire of Light that inhabits this continent.
So how the hell are they so powerful?
I think there are some hints to be found in both WoWs myths and real world ones.
First let's look at the Tauren creation myth.

To keep it to the point I'll not go into much detail. The Earth Mother created twin children, An'she and Mu'sha (aka Elune). One day the twins were attacked by "shadows". With the aid of the Elements they were able to hold them off for a time but eventually one of the shadows gravely wounded An'she. Mu'sha used her healing powers to help her brother but it would take time for her to heal him completely.
Next let's look at Arthurian myths.
One of the tales about King Arthur tells the story of him being gravely wounded in battle. His sister, Morgan le Fay, takes him to the island of Avalon where she can use her powerful healing magic to help Arthur.
In some myths Avalon is kept very secret with even Merlin being unaware of it's existence.
Morgan is an interesting character. Depending on the myth she's sometimes a human, or Fae, or an Elf Queen, or a full blown goddess. Remind you of anyone?
One myth states that Avalon is said to be located west of Ireland and afterwards hidden in mist by Morgan's enchantment.
Morgan is also said to be the chief of a group of Sisters, one of whom is named Tyronoe.
There are more similarities between Elune and Morgan as well but I think I've made my point.
To bring it back to WoW. My speculation is that Elune took the wounded An'she to Averloren to be healed and then hid the island from outsiders. The Titan keepers never made it there because it's being protected by a Elune and An'she who are members of the pantheons of Life and Light respectively.
The "heritics" are either Elune and An'she or Titan keepers who sided with them.
Anyway, this could all be nonsense but it's interesting to think about and I look forward to finding out more about Averloren and it's history.
