2024.05.14 11:12 Truth-or-Death1988 There Will Be Trouble and Calamity for Everyone Who Keeps on Doing What Is Evil

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. - Proverbs 3:7-8
For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. - Ephesians 5:5
To whom shall I speak and give warning,
That they may hear?
Indeed their ear is uncircumcised,
And they cannot give heed.
Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them;
They have no delight in it. – Jeremiah 6:10
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” - Romans 3:18
The fear of the LORD leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil. - Proverbs 19:23
The fear of God is what leads to life, and this is why there are so many passages both in the OT and the NT which are meant to impart that fear of God into us. But the modern church seemingly sees the fear of God as a reproach to them, indeed they seem to only talk about the free gift, but also seem to reject that gift.
For God has not called us to live in sin. He has called us to live a holy life
Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit. – I Thessalonians 4:7-8
Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.
Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.
So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God. - I John 3:6-10
The churches should be imparting the fear of God into the wicked, so that they may turn from the ways of death and truly begin to know Jesus Christ. But they only seem to preach that which fills seats and wallets, as scripture warned us about:
But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.
Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.
In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed. – II Peter 2:1-3
Rather than fear God and convey that to others, they come up with every high-minded, theological retort that they can possibly think of in an effort to rid themselves of the very thing that leads to life.
‘For among My people are found wicked men;
They lie in wait as one who sets snares;
They set a trap;
They catch men.
As a cage is full of birds,
So their houses are full of deceit.
Therefore they have become great and grown rich.
They have grown fat, they are sleek;
Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the fatherless;
Yet they prosper,
And the right of the needy they do not defend.
Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’
“An astonishing and horrible thing
Has been committed in the land:
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their own power;
And My people love to have it so.
But what will you do in the end? – Jeremiah 5:26-31
“Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.
Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know,
and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, ‘We are delivered to do all these abominations’?
Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the Lord. – Jeremiah 7:8-11
“Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.
“So you shall say to them, ‘This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth. – Jeremiah 7:27-28
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. - I Timothy 3:3-9
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. - Ecclesiastes 1:9
Timothy was told to rebuke those who sin in the presence of all so that the rest may fear (I Timothy 5:20), but many leaders in modern churches seek to comfort the wicked in their sin instead. Comfort should be given to those who are remorseful for their sins, not to those who need a swift rebuke before they perish in their sins.
But what are souls compared to dollars these days?
Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’ - Jeremiah 5:10
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. - Job 15:34
I truly hope that even those who take part in turning people away from the way of life will repent, and soon.
The Lord Almighty says that disaster is coming on one nation after another, and a great storm is gathering at the far ends of the earth. On that day the bodies of those whom the Lord has killed will lie scattered from one end of the earth to the other. No one will mourn for them, and they will not be taken away and buried. They will lie on the ground like piles of manure.
Cry, you leaders, you shepherds of my people, cry out loud! Mourn and roll in the dust. The time has come for you to be slaughtered, and you will be butchered like rams. There will be no way for you to escape. You moan and cry out in distress because the Lord in his anger has destroyed your nation and left your peaceful country in ruins. The Lord has abandoned his people like a lion that leaves its cave. The horrors of war and the Lord's fierce anger have turned the country into a desert. - Jeremiah 25:32-38
To think that God treated His first love in such a way over their wickedness, but will spare this lukewarm, money-hungry monstrosity for doing the same things is utterly insane.
But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.
There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile. But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism. - Romans 2:5-11
God does not change. When the people who are supposed to be His are the ones leading others to hell, His fury is just, and it will be vented.
Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. - Revelation 3:2-3

2024.05.14 11:10 Temporary-Round-3125 What could I do after graduating in Business Administration and International Marketing?

I studied CS for a year because I always thought that it was what I was supposed to do. My family always pushed me in that direction but I don't want to blame them for it.
The thing is I left and started studying a double degree on what I just mentioned. I've been thinking what would be the best path to take to make the most money I can after leaving college.
I'm a native Spanish speaker (I'm from Spain), I have a C2 English Level and a B2 German Level. I'd love to start studying Chinese soon too.
I've been thinking that maybe I could try to work at Deloitte in Germany after finishing my studies as it'd give me a lot of experience, but I really don't know what to exactly do and I think I need some actual guidance, not all the bs that I'm told by my teachers and parents on a daily basis. Please help me. Again, I want to make as much as possible working on something related to what I'll graduate in. I've thought about doing a Master's Degree in maybe Digital Marketing (this field seems to be oversaturated though), a MS in Business Analytics, or an MBA.

2024.05.14 11:10 ZeinebOnAir23 Doubts and fears ... and a little bit of a rant

Salam alaikum everyone, my (older) brother is 34 and he's been looking for a good wife for years. He lives alone in a Germany, in a city where the muslim community is not so big and he has no close muslim friend. He has, however, met some muslim girls through the years, some through Muzmatch, and some we have proposed to him - and so far nothing worked out. Each time either she found something wrong in him or he was not 100% convinced she was the one. I feel very hopeless and quite sad. I know Allah SWT is the best Planner and whatever He has decreed for my brother is indeed the best for him, but it's so hard to watch him get excited, invest money and time and energy and then crash down just to start all over again. The last time, it was all going so well until the girl asked what madhab he followed and, well, we are Shiaa in our family, but not "heavily" or "excessively"... sorry for using these words, i know it feels offensive and everyone is free to practice the way they like, but to give yoi an example, we pray the 5 prayers separately, but with our arms at our sides. We don't wash our feet in wudu', we simply swipe them, but at the same time we don't say "Ya Ali" or "Ya Husain"... we don't belive it's shirk, because we know those who do that are essentially invoking Allah, but hoping for Ahlulbayt to do shafaa for them, but me personally i don't feel comfortable enough to say it... Anyways, the girl basically rejected him (she was sunni).
I know that many may find our behavior wrong or weird, both from the shiaa POV and from the sunni's, since we're basically neither, and I know many believe that if you don't follow a specific madhab then it's like you're not a full muslim, but what can I say? We found our peace like this in our family, we all spent most of our lives living abroad, so shi'ism or sunnism is not something extremely important for us: our fundamental principles for living a good muslim life are more general... don't kill, don't steal, don't lie, don't furnicate, pray and fast and give zakat, etc. etc.
This all made me very sad because I imagine I'm gonna face the same problems he is facing. I live in a muslim country with my parents, but they're all sunni here while I am this "bland" type of shiaa. People like our neighbors or family friends always exalt our good qualities and say we're among the best people they've ever met - this happens to me at school, too: people always speak so well of me, but whenever they do a little part of me wonders whether they'd speak any different if they knew I am shiaa.
Sorry for the long rant... I am sad and starting to feel hopeless because even an arranged marriage is not in the cards for us, since my relatives from my mom's side are all christians and from my dad's side ... well, my dad basically fought with all his brothers and they curse us and wish us dead... lol, quite a situation, huh?

That they may hear?
Indeed their ear is uncircumcised,
And they cannot give heed.
Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them;
They have no delight in it.
‘For among My people are found wicked men;
They lie in wait as one who sets snares;
They set a trap;
They catch men.
As a cage is full of birds,
So their houses are full of deceit.
Therefore they have become great and grown rich.
They have grown fat, they are sleek;
Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the fatherless;
Yet they prosper,
And the right of the needy they do not defend.
Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’
“An astonishing and horrible thing
Has been committed in the land:
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their own power;

2024.05.14 11:09 Temporary-Round-3125 What could I do after graduating in Business Administration and International Marketing?

2024.05.14 11:07 Primary_Interview585 My(26F) Partner (25M) is unsupportive of me working, what do I do?

Hello, my partner and I have 3 children together ages 5, 3 and 1.
As a mother, it is difficult for me to find and sustain work as I don’t have childcare for my youngest, I left my long standing Job in August of 2023 as they were refusing to be flexible and understanding of my circumstances. I then acquired another job in November 2023 but this wasn’t sustainable for me as it was around the clock constant and I didn’t have the energy for it.
My partner is self employed, I would say he has a lot of flexibility as he chooses his own schedule, however I would say I don’t know what his set schedule is because he chops and changes it.
Since not having a job I’ve been struggling financially, I pay all the bills in our home and he pays for the grocery shopping. I am in a large amount of debt that I’ve accumulated over the years due to poor money management because of either depression or my diagnosed ADHD (I am working on this) so the little money I do get from the government mainly goes towards that
I couldn’t tell you how much my partner earns, or if he is comfortably earning money, he does not share this with me openly. He could be broke. He could be loaded.
My long standing job I had to leave because he refused to be with our youngest for an extra day, which is what they wanted from me, he would also routinely ‘threaten’ not to be look after our child so that I could work whenever we had a disagreement and he didn’t like how I was acting.
I’ve recently acquired a job nearby which is incredibly convenient for me ! I am so happy, it doesn’t pay the best but it’s something! I sensed he wasn’t that excited about it, didn’t really celebrate with me at all.
Last night we both went to sleep late, I don’t usually, but I did yesterday, because I was up with him, I see he wasn’t doing any work at all, he was watching YouTube videos and just like every other morning, I was alone getting the kids ready and making breakfast whilst he slept in. I’ve expressed to him how upset this makes me to no avail, he will sleep in whenever he wants. I will say that when I am ill he will get up and be with the kids ( provided we didn’t argue leading up to me asking him to)
I woke him up this morning after I had taken my eldest to school, he got out of the bed 20 mins later, came into the living room said hi to our kids and went back into the bedroom, in bed on his phone, I went in and asked him ‘is this what you do? Just get out of bed and go back in on your phone?’ I can admit it was pure frustration but I can’t help it sometimes.
He responds with ‘yup’ then proceeds to ask me why I woke him up, I told him I’ve already expressed how him sleeping in every single day makes me feel, I told him that his behaviour is not working for me and after a bit of back and forth he then got irate and said ‘WHATEVER’ like a pre-teen and I then told him to ‘act like a man’ to which he told me to ‘act like a woman’ He believes women should be doormats basically , from what I have gathered. Anytime a speak up whether it’s ‘gentle’ (his alleged preferred tone) or harsh he will react the same way MOST of the time.
He then said ‘Carry on and we’ll see what happens’ this was a direct threat to my job, he was saying if I didn’t stop calling him out he will not be here to look after our youngest so I can work.
I haven’t even started yet. He threatened me for my first day.
He has shared with me he thinks me working is a waste of time and wants me to be with the kids mainly, he says it takes away from him working , claims he can earn more money than I make in a day. The problem is whether this is true or not I don’t see the money like how I should. He doesn’t give me money at all unless I practically beg and convince him. Doesn’t pay the bills as mentioned before and generally is very very stingy.
How do I go about this? He is my only form of childcare for my daughter and I feel stuck on what to do.

2024.05.14 11:06 expensivecookiee I found out my GF is an escort

I found out my GF is an escort
For context we both work together, and are together all the time. Sex was good, in fact she discovered her sexuality from me, we're both active, and goes hiking and cycling (I encouraged her to join me) and practically does what normal couples do.
I'm not the type of BF that goes through my partner's socmed or their phones, I give them my trust kaya sa una pa lang yun na ang non neg ko, break my trust and we're done. And we were ok, or so I thought.
This happened last year for almost 8 months I think from what she admitted. I first got this inkling that something was off when she bought an iPhone. Not that I belittle her, pero her salary isn't that high, I remembered telling her na baka naubos na savings niya because she bought it cash, she shrugged it off, I did not ask about it anymore.
She has this cousin who does modelling and she goes with her all the time. GF has got the looks and the body. She even asked if she can do one I agreed and supported her. That was done, so when we we're looking at the photos on her phone her cousin PMed her and she snatched the phone away from my hands like her life depended on it, that was the 2nd inkling I had. 3rd one was when I asked what is it about, she said it was about modelling and the terms there were beb and PR Idk what that means pero she was asking to get in to be one. But she sais it was some modelling stuff
Fast forward to yesterday, I dropped her off with her kid sa SM North, and uknowingly she left her phone, tumawag pa siya and humabol pa daw, but I didn't notice kasi traffic. So I called her, told her I can get it back (nakitext siya sa kiosk ng move it), sabi niya wag na, and just give it to her the next day.
Then something hit me, all those things that have bothered me came back. 1st one I saw, she was flirting with someone, asking when will they go out and stuff, she even said she's single. Now here's the A-BOMB
Remember the cousin? Their chat was a goldmine. So long story short she was fucking with an old guy. Sabi niya this happened 5-6times in the span of those 8 months. Naghahanap pa siya ng iba kasi parang matumal na yung isa. I sent her pictures of the convos, dineny pa niya, companionship lang daw. I told her nasa rel siya mag gaganun siya and she said she needed the money, for hospital bills ng father niya and yes she got hooked with the luxury it provided her.
I could've helped her with her father's bills.
This happened in the wee hours of the night, pagkahatid ko aalis siya ng madaling araw without me knowing.
Now she begs me to take her back. I dont want to, but part of me loves her still. Idk if this is still love or naaawa ako sa kanya.
Idk what to do. But yes I broke up with her.

2024.05.14 11:06 randomthoughts1469 DH has me completely & utterly defeated... I get why BM left

It's 3 am and I'm spending yet another sleepless night on the couch after a huge blow-up with DH, for whom I can't do anything right
Spent the morning of Mother's Day as an anxious wreck trying to convince myself to go see my mom even though it meant dealing with my estranged siblings and feeling the emptiness of my dad's recent passing. Finally worked up the energy to leave, then came home later and noticed SS6 (who we have 50/50 EOW) had done some schoolwork with DH. I guess my first mistake was coming home; my second mistake was telling DH that I noticed some schoolwork was done and that he is a great dad (relevant later)
Fast forward to today and not gonna lie, I was feeling pretty bummed out about having had to play fake happy family with mine on Sunday, in addition to getting absolutely nothing from DH in terms of even a word of appreciation for the endless laundry, cleaning, cooking, and other general mom-ing that I do to keep "our family" afloat. I expressed my disappointment about not even getting a thank you... I wasn't expecting a breakfast in bed, flowers, or gift from him/SS... I didn't think the bar could get any lower but boy was I wrong
DH goes OFF, telling me not to EVER ask him for a thank you and that he doesn't need to hear me tell him that he's a great dad. This is coming from the man who never had a positive/active father figure and has stated in the past that he feels like he doesn't do enough as a dad... I thought letting your partner know they're doing a great job was a good thing, especially considering he's "just winging it" and unsure of himself?
The icing on the cake was attempting to go to the gym for an hour of solo de-stress time, only for DH to text me before I even finish the 10 minute drive that we are done, I have until the end of the month to find a new place to live (my name not being on the mortgage has been a point of tension for 2 years and I have expressed how this makes me feel like my living situation is insecure/unstable for this exact reason, despite me paying the equivalency of 50% of the monthly payments), and he wants the rings back. I then got a notification from the bank that he transferred out half of our joint savings. Obviously I ripped back home and after 2 hours of pointless bickering that lead us nowhere he says he shouldn't have said that and I don't actually have to leave. But fuck it, I took the rings off after he went to bed because the money is still missing
I am on a 6 week stress leave from my job as a teacher due to grief and horrible working conditions, going to countless doctor and psychologist appointments because of this, coming to terms with losing my dad at 26, and still trying to finish my master's degree in the next month. He has exploded on me in public and at home (both without and in front of SS), screamed in my face to the point of spitting on me, put his hands on me once... The list goes on and on. SS is a great kid and there's zero drama with BM, but I dream of the day I pull the pin, pack a U-Haul while he's at work, block him everywhere, and sell the rings

2024.05.14 11:04 100percentapplejuice I (F29) drew a portrait for my aunt (F47) for her birthday. But my cousin (F21) is saying I’m being cheap by drawing it digitally?

I’m a very artistically inclined person so I like drawings portraits for people as gifts. I’ve always gotten a great response from the recipients and sometimes I’ve even gotten requests for these portraits as their gift instead of anything I can buy at a store.
For my aunt’s 48th birthday, I drew her a portrait. She loved it and hung it on her bedroom wall. It was of her sitting in a field of her favorite flowers. Now my cousin, however, is telling me I’m cheapening out because I did it digitally instead of painting it by hand. I told her I didn’t have the tools nor the money to buy supplies, plus I’ve lost touch with traditional art. She said regardless, because I didn’t put in extra effort, it’s tacky and borderline offensive to her mother, and to even gift it to someone because I didn’t put in extra care for it.
I know I’m at least decent at art. Just because I can no longer draw on paper (it’s become a learning curve for me) doesn’t diminish my skill at all. I told her digital provides me a wider access to a variety of tools, unique brushes and effects, but she refuses to back down and says I’m taking the easy way out. Fine. She’s a mathematician, so I tell her that her using a calculator is also the easy way out. She says it’s not the same. I tell her I’ll ask my aunt what she really thinks, but she says she’s just gonna be nice and say it’s fine.
Now I’m worried. I asked my aunt but she says not to pay it any mind, and that she loves it from the bottom of her heart. But what if she’s hiding her real feelings from me? Am I really “cheapening” the gift I worked so hard on because it’s digital? Have I been just giving out a low effort gift all this time? Or is my cousin just being an idiot?
TL;DR: made a portrait for my aunt with digital art. Cousin says it’s disrespectful and cheap because I didn’t do it the hard way.

2024.05.14 11:04 Truth-or-Death1988 There Will Be Trouble and Calamity for Everyone Who Keeps on Doing What Is Evil

Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them;
They have no delight in it.
‘For among My people are found wicked men;
They lie in wait as one who sets snares;
They set a trap;
They catch men.
As a cage is full of birds,
So their houses are full of deceit.
Therefore they have become great and grown rich.
They have grown fat, they are sleek;
Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the fatherless;
Yet they prosper,
And the right of the needy they do not defend.
Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’
“An astonishing and horrible thing
Has been committed in the land:
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their own power;

2024.05.14 11:03 Truth-or-Death1988 There Will Be Trouble and Calamity for Everyone Who Keeps on Doing What Is Evil

Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them;
They have no delight in it.
‘For among My people are found wicked men;
They lie in wait as one who sets snares;
They set a trap;
They catch men.
As a cage is full of birds,
So their houses are full of deceit.
Therefore they have become great and grown rich.
They have grown fat, they are sleek;
Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the fatherless;
Yet they prosper,
And the right of the needy they do not defend.
Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’
“An astonishing and horrible thing
Has been committed in the land:
The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their own power;

2024.05.14 11:03 Primary_Interview585 My(26F) Partner (25M) is unsupportive of me working

2024.05.14 11:03 Natural-South8769 29F me, 30M, I feel like I’m going insane and now we are both the problem?

A lot of resentment has started to come out from me recently, resulting in angry outbursts from me to him. This man: - never apologises on his own accord for anything no matter how big or small. If I ask him to he says sorry in the most bored tone and does not mean it. - yesterday I was at the office, he fed the dog once with a small amount of kibble, no water and no walks or interaction. When I asked him doesn’t he feel guilt, he said ‘a little bit’. My dog was starving and bored when I got home - he never pays for food shops. I do all the food shops and have to constantly remind him to pay me for them. If I forgot for a few weeks/months he NEVER offers. - when I got made redundant I couldn’t find work for 4 months. He offered no money or help with money, whereas my friends in this position didn’t have to pay for anything whilst they were redundant (they bfs covered it all) - I made a stupid pact that he should propose when we are a good healthy weight. Well that hasn’t happened but we’ve been together for 10 years, I’ve only been overweight for the past 2, why didn’t he propose in the 8 years before that? Yet he wants me to get a house with him?? (We both are on a mortgage) - he severely lacks emotion, like the above guilt but also rarely compliments me or boosts my confidence. I asked him what he likes about me the other day and he said he doesn’t know he can’t answer under pressure. Then I told him why don’t you write it down instead. He said I’m loving, caring and passionate. The most generic stuff, absolutely nothing about me personally or my personality or anything else. - everytime I want to talk about problems in our relationship he always says he doesn’t know what to say. I told him you can literally find relationship advice anywhere but he does no research or no thinking to solve problems. He’s perpetually the victim. - he is a weed addict and has been for over 10 years. I’ve begged him to stop, he insists he doesn’t have an issue but can’t go without for more than a couple days. I became depressed about 4 years ago and have my own addiction problem with alcohol now ( I wonder why) - I’ve been bullied by people right in front of him, he has never stood up for me. Infact he says I’m overreacting and usually takes the other persons side. Or just gives me a blank face
I know this post is extremely ranty and angry but I’m just bubbling over. It’s like living with an emotionless, lack of empathy robot who only ever wants to have fun and never deal with anything serious or negative. I feel insane, and he sure thinks I am after my outbursts

2024.05.14 11:03 somethingtwice AITA My grandpa stole my money and then blames me!

My grandpa, who has taken care of me for almost as much as my parents have, scammed me out of $10,000 and nearly got me evicted. I've been renting my house now for about a year and a half, I have slaved every day since I was sixteen to earn enough money to be able to retire early. My grandfather is the one who taught me this, he has always told me to work and work and make money, this as you can tell, is something I have taken to heart. I love what I do but it weighs down on me, both physically and mentally. A few years ago, my grandpa took on a job at the post office, he has mentioned multiple times that this is his favorite job and that he makes a lot of money doing what he does, I found out why. The other day I got a call from my landlord, in a toned-down manner, he said, "I have sent you warning after *beep* warning, why do you *beep* think that I would let this go?" I was very confused about what he meant, so I asked him, "What do you mean?" he responded, "I am missing about $10,000 rent money from you!" Since my grandpa is the one I've always confided in when it comes to financial decisions, I called him in tears. After about an hour of having a mental breakdown over the phone with him, he confessed to me. Now I send my rent money through the same post office my grandpa works at and apparently he knows this (I never told him I did this.) and has picked out my letters and stolen the money. Once my screaming ended, he responded, nonchalantly, "You shouldn't send your money in the mail." I hung up. He hasn't offered to repay me and I don't expect him to. I know this is long, and I probably shouldn't be posting it, but I needed to rant.

2024.05.14 11:01 Yummytoe9 I’m (24f) starting to feel like giving up on my 3 year LDR (25m)

I’m so burned out in my ldr and my boyfriend keeps telling me that I’m not putting in an effort. I tried to break up months ago because a- I don’t feel like the relationship is going anywhere due to lack of known plans, b- I don’t trust him because of things that have happened in the past and c- due to this distrust I constantly pester him for reassurance which is exhausting for him but also exhausting for me because I’m in a state of worry all the time. He’s faught against the breakup so much and has even used guilt and now just calls me names on the phone and yells at me everyday. I am so exhausted and I have given up on leaving because of how he treats me when I try to and now I’m just waiting for him to leave himself, but he just gets more and more verbally abusive everyday. The thing is that I’m a struggling people pleaser and I often fawn in times of conflict especially when the other person is seemingly very distressed or irrationally angry. And yes I had narcissistic parents who I had to regulate all the time to survive and he knows this and I genuinely believe that he is using it as a weapon. The fact that he is asking for more effort and not seeing how us not arguing all the time is an accomplishment in itself is daunting because I don’t know what he thinks he’s gonna get from me anymore. I told him to just move on and let me be if this is not ideal for him anymore and he refuses and says he still has hope. Everyday he tells me I’ve been an awful girlfriend and that I’m the worst but the next minute he is struggling to let me go and he’s telling me that what we have is beautiful. What we had was beautiful because of how I treated him in the relationship and how gentle, fun, caring and attentive I was when we’d see each other in person. He knows or has at least voiced that I’m a rare kind of girl and now because I’m tired and realising how much I was giving as a woman and not getting back, I am suddenly a terrible person and a terrible partner? I knew people were inherently selfish but not enough to mistreat someone they claimed to have loved for years and in the name of what? I’m just not giving energy that I feel gets me nothing back anymore and now it’s like he’s a blood sucking tick that I can’t scrape off. There was a day where he left and I broke down and cried after being in survival mode for so long. I felt so relieved and like my life could finally be beautiful again. Am I in the wrong here? I know I should just grow out of my people pleasing, but I genuinely loved this person and I don’t want to be the reason they aren’t okay forever (he told me he might kill himself if I leave and I know that’s abuse and manipulation). He called me an abuser and said I destroyed him but sometimes I wonder if that were true because he acts like he will die without me. I don’t know what to believe and whether I am a bad person. Please help me
TL;DR

2024.05.14 10:58 ParalleledPasta I (21 F) just discovered that my boyfriend's (23 M) family are involved in a cult. What should I do?

Hi! I'm a devout Buddhist. I met my boyfriend in university and we've been dating for a little over 3 months. He is the first serious relationship I've been in.
Everything was fine until a few days ago when I discovered that his family is in a cult. Prior to this, I've asked about which school of buddhism his family follows and he would brush it off as "something from taiwan". He claims he did so due to a lack of interest in finding out about his family's faith. I won't disclose the name of the cult for privacy, but it has been denounced by multiple buddhist associations and monks as a "heretic group" (their leader claims to be someone on the same level as the Buddha). His family is deeply involved in the group (members for over 10 years) and they have donated sums of money. They aren't expecting me to convert (since I already have a temple that I frequent), but they likely do want me to participate in their ceremonies which I am absolutely not comfortable with.
I've started having second thoughts about him altogether because of this. As much as I love him, I don't want to marry into a family with such deep cult connections. I've spoken to him and he's given me a week to think this whole relationship through. He says he loves me but he doesn't want me to regret any decision I make.
I honestly don't know how should I think this through. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
TLDR: just discovered boyfriend's family is in a cult, am having second thoughts. Boyfriend has given me a week to decide if I want to continue the relationship.

2024.05.14 10:57 snowlikemagic I(22F) plan to discreetly move out of my abusive family’s place. Any tips or advice?

TLDR version: Hello, I’m a 22F whose planning to discreetly move out of her parents place and wanted to ask if you have ANY SORT OF TIPS you can share with me. I’m in the 2nd year of an online business degree after which I MUST do an mba to somewhat get a job. I’m from Delhi, around Shaheen bagh area, and am willing to move anywhere in india where I can live somewhat safely inside a home as a single woman. If you have any tips on how much money I should have to move out with (in cash) or some other tips, pls help me out 🥹 (my estimate is 3-5 lakhs)
Some more context: Now unless anyone’s interested, I figured that the reasons I wish to move out are kind of irrelevant. There’s a lot mental and some physical abuse involved by my parents and younger brother, and after running half a million “what can happens” through my highly anxious and overthinking brain, I’ve finally decided to do it because I think everyone deserves to live in peace without being made to feel less than human every day, and it’s kind of my life’s goal, literally.
My financial situation: currently I have exactly 0Rs with me. No bank account. Just got PAN Card this year. But I want to know how much money I MUST have saved to survive atleast a couple of years in a decent place with or preferably without a roommate. My estimate is to save around 3-5 lakhs if I wish to live with basic facilities in any Indian metro city.
