Hey Y'all!
I'm currently working with a sequencer that has three pitch CV outputs (Endorphine.es Ground Control). I would like to designate Pitch CV 1 as the master "transpose" CV while Pitch 2 and Pitch 3 are reserved for bass and lead sounds respectively. I would like pitch 1 to transpose both pitch 2 and pitch 3 by the same amount. But also i would like to be able to choose to for example only transpose pitch 2 and not 3.
What would be the best way of achieving this? I currently do not have a Precision Adder in my setup. I have read a bit here and there about people using those for said purpose. But looking at, for example, the Doepfer A-185-2 module. I struggle to see how you would patch this up.
So, my fellow modular aficionados, I turn to you for guidance. What techniques, modules, or patching setups would you recommend for achieving seamless transposition of multiple pitch sequences

Hello all,
This is something I literally cannot stop thinking about and I feel like a horrible person right now so any advice is helpful.
I got accepted into a PhD program in a STEM field and after a lot of contemplation, I accepted it a month ago. I have still been majorly struggling with the life changes and if I am up to it (pretty much imposter syndrome). But I sent in all my material at the end of last year.
However, I recently needed to send an updated resume/CV for my job due to a QA walkthrough (I work at a diagnostics lab currently) and I noticed under my description of this job, I described my work as “analytical testing of specimens”.
I do work with patient samples but it is just a diagnostic process. I’m not running specific tests on specific samples, in reality I’m pushing them through the lab using liquid handlers. So I feel that saying I am doing any sort of “analytical testing” is a gross lie. I really don’t know what I was thinking when writing that. If anything, it should be “diagnostic processing” and then I could really explain what I do. I have other bullets under this section to back up other things I do (reagent handling, instrument troubleshooting, training, etc.)
I feel so incredibly guilty because of this and what’s worse is that I did not even get a formal interview by the school or my PI. Like I wish I did so then this could have been found out and then I could explain the mistake but now it’s obviously too late. It makes my work experience sound so much more grandiose but in reality it’s very simple.
I mean I do have the other qualifications (bachelors, some research experience, letters of recommendation) but I feel that this job also means a lot in the decision and I feel incredibly sick to my stomach thinking that I have experience in any sort of analytical testing when I don’t. I have a theoretical grasp of some of the methods but no actual work experience (maybe some undergrad lab experience).
Should I email my PI and ask him about this? Or send in an updated CV? I know the running joke is “fake it till you make it” but I genuinely feel that I am a fake now and don’t want to live like that.
TLDR: Got into grad school but realized a pretty massive error on my CV regarding my job description and I am freaking out about it.

Greetings everyone, I'm working on a fashion image retrieval project and planning to use traditional CV approaches to solve this problem. Searching articles for this issue on Google scholar gave lots of material (post 2016), all of which used deep learning. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point out some solid old CV techniques/a legit paper, journal, or book to solve this task and how to evaluate these algorithms. I do have masks and bboxes to crop the clothing item from the image (deepfashion2 dataset). Also, I'm not looking to extract exact clothing item from gallery but items, which has similar color, texture or shape and as I mentioned earlier I'm also confused as to how would I measure the performance of such an algorithm. Hi everyone,
I’m a second year PhD student. In my first year the progress was really slow. A lot of time wasted on repeating unsuccessful experiments.
In this time, I did get a lot of training and am now adept at quite a few different instruments and techniques. I’m also pretty comfortable talking about any theoretical aspects of my work and the work of my other lab members.
The trouble is; I’m still finding it impossible to make progress. Everything I try hits a wall, and I don’t know how to step forward. Weeks go by without moving forward.
I think a big contributor to these difficulties is poor time management and unsystematic research. On the other hand, times when I am systematic nothing works, which means I cannot produce any meaningful data.
Apologies for the vent! Has anyone had a similar experience and have suggestions to overcome this?

I work in a lab as an internship, it is my second experience. I am handling chemicals for western blots and other molecular biology techniques, as well as cell lines.
I have psoriasis, so I constantly have lesions on my feet, which often are not hidden by socks. Should I always cover them with a bandage or something? If i cover them with socks, my skin is often pulled off because of the sock fibers, but I am worried that not covering them may pose a risk. I've also heard that covering the lesions may promote fungal or bacterial growth.

Hi,
I have a question on how to apply computation that takes quite some time to calculate (let’s say 1 sec.) on a live video stream (30 fps) in a way that the output after that computation also has 30 fps. Of course with some latency added.
I’m using Python, OpenCV and an Intel RealSense. I already tried some parallel programming techniques like threading or asyncio, but can’t figure it out.

Dr. Kirkpatrick was asked by USD(I&S) to stand-up and lead AARO in early 2022. Known as Dr. K to his staff and team, he brings over two decades of experience and a significant depth of expertise in scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI), S&TI and space policy, research and development, acquisitions, and operations, specializing in space/counterspace mission areas.
Dr. Kirkpatrick was born in Columbus, GA to an Army family. He grew up in the Atlanta area, where he attended the University of Georgia as an undergraduate, to study physics. Dr. Kirkpatrick finished his Ph.D. work in nonlinear and nonequilibrium phonon dynamics of rare earth doped fluoride crystals also at the University of Georgia, and is currently an adjunct professor at UGA.
Dr. Kirkpatrick began his career in Defense and Intelligence related science and technology immediately out of graduate school. After receiving his Ph.D. in Physics in 1995, he subsequently took a postdoctoral position at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, investigating laser-induced molecular vibrations of high explosives under an AFOSR program. In 1996, he was offered a National Research Council Fellowship at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. investigating novel solid-state lasers for the Department of the Navy. In 1997, he was recruited by the Air Force Research Laboratory to build an Ultrafast Laser Physics Lab to investigate nonlinear optics, novel ultrafast spectroscopic methods, and nonlinear micro/nano-fabrication techniques for the Air Force. In 2003 he was offered a program manager position in the National Reconnaissance Office, and converted to CIA in 2005. In 2007, he was assigned as Chief Technology Officer in a joint CIA-DIA program office, where he later became division chief as a DIA officer. In 2010 he was asked to serve as the space control portfolio manager for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Space and Intelligence, Office of the Secretary ofDefense.
In 2012 he returned to DIA, and served as the Defense Intelligence Officer for Scientific and Technical Intelligence, serving as the Department of Defense’s counterpart to the National Intelligence Manager for Science and Technology until 2016. Towards the end of his tenure as DIO/S&TI, Dr. Kirkpatrick served on special assignment to the Principal Deputy Director National Intelligence leading the Intelligence Community’s support to the Joint Interagency Combined Space Operations Center.

In 2010 he was asked to serve as the space control portfolio manager for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Space and Intelligence, Office of the Secretary of Defense.
• In 2012 he returned to DIA, and served as the Defense Intelligence Officer for Scientific and Technical Intelligence, serving as the Department of Defense’s counterpart to the National Intelligence Manager for Science and Technology until 2016. Towards the end of his tenure as DIO/S&TI, Dr. Kirkpatrick served on special assignment to the Principal Deputy Director National Intelligence leading the Intelligence Community’s support to the Joint Interagency Combined Space Operations Center.From 2016 to his current assignment, Dr. Kirkpatrick served in a variety of no-fail roles including Deputy Director of Intelligence, US Strategic Command; Director, National Security Strategy, National Security Council; Deputy Director of Intelligence and the DNI Representative for USSPACECOM. The USSPACECOM Intelligence Enterprise was the fifth organization he has been the IC lead for establishment. His most recent assignment was as Chief Scientist at DIA’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center.Dr. Kirkpatrick is the recipient of several scientific and intelligence awards. Since 3 or 4 years. Started with digital but switched to analog within half a year and never looked back.

I was on a solo trip to a local mountain top to do some medium format star trails. I was completely allone and there was this gorgeous sunset. I had to take a picture.

I had these custom boards made so they would fit on top of endless potentiometers. They take in 3 pins GND, VCC, and a Signal. The circuit is just a diode/resistor ladder that fades the LED based on voltage which means that I can control it from a PWM pin after I filter it. Works great.
So my idea is to use the HIFI PWM technique using two downscaled PWM pins for a combined higher bit-rate PWM output. I figured I would use two of the timers for this giving me a total of 4 outputs.
Then I'd have some buttons to select which output or parameter is being modified with a single knob. And since the knob is relative, I can use the led array to display the value of the parameter being modified. etc.
I'm thinking of adding a Clock input jack and some ADC-connected jacks for CV input. But what to make? I guess I could always use more LFOs or we could easily make a digital envelop generator too. I think it'd be cool to make this a 1u module. What do you guys think would be useful? I like the idea of having this be somewhat generic enough so that it could be reprogrammed with different functionality, or work with different modes.

A little thought I've had concerning the Leslie loudspeaker - which doesn't seem to be explicitly mentioned in any of the articles or viddley-diddleys hereïn lunken-to, although I may just have missed it - is the way, by revolving the source of the sound by means of horn/horn-like-attachment rather than by revolving the loudspeaker itself , sliding electrical contacts are obviated; and that is highly desirable in an audio circuit, as, although 'tis well-possible to make sliding contacts that work pretty well (although never really superbly well) for motors & stuff, it's prettymuch impossible to make one for an audio circuit that isn't going to introduce a veritably diabolical scratching into the signal.
Although, come to think on it, it might be possible to have the loudspeaker itself rotating & the signal conveyed to it through a transformer one of the coils of which is free to rotate relative to the other. But evidently they chose not to do that ... & afterall, putting transformers in audio circuits brings about issues of its own. It could be done, though: rotary transformers are 'a thing' .
