I can forgive my mom for almost everything. She was a single, immigrant mom struggling with undiagnosed adhd and social anxiety and burnout from it. I can forgive her the emotional neglect, leaving me to fend for myself for dinners (we always had food, but we never had family dinners and I’d usually heat up my own since age 9/10), not participating in the pta, disciplining me the best she knew how even though it wasn’t effective, not looking at my homework or even asking anything except for report cards.
I can forgive everything and understand everything except for her not showing up for me when I needed her to. She didn’t go to most of my dance events. She didn’t go to take pictures of me before prom, even though I told her all the other parents would be going and I all but begged her to go. She didn’t show up for contests or performances or most games.
Now, as a mom, I recognize my own privileges and challenges. I have more advantages than she did and more knowledge and resources, too.
I also have her social anxiety and awkwardness. And I have her adhd.
But I have never seen a school or other event or play date or even birthday party that I wanted to skip. I want to see my children everywhere. I want to see their faces when they see me, proud, looking at them. I want them to see me looking at them playing on the playground. I want to bring flowers to their performances and show up for them.
Even now, I can’t understand why she doesn’t want to visit her grandchildren more. I know it’s difficult for her socially, but she hasn’t visited in over two years. We visit her a few times a year and she doesn’t even join us for all of the things we do when we’re there.
I can understand and forgive almost everything. I can imagine being a similar parent to the one she was if I was under her same constraints. But I cannot for the life of me imagine not wanting to participate in my children’s lives and consistently letting them go through major events without seeing a proud parent watching them, especially if I knew other kids had their parents there. The idea of me missing anything and one of my kids looking out into an audience or bleachers with only their friends’ parents there is appalling to me.
To be honest, I don’t remember being too upset about it as a kid. We weren’t super bonded, and I knew she was busy and worked late (she was a nurse), so she was tired often. I am just so embarrassed and ashamed on her behalf. And I am so horrified at the image of doing something like that to either of my kids.

Doesn't matter if you're rating is 1400 or 1600, or casual vs. ranked -- seems that the extortion (e.g., non-blocks and non-steals) is just rampant in Colonist. I feel like they should add an option to report it if it happens.
If we're going by the official sanctioned Catan tournament rules, extortion is not legal. I can understand it being a thing in casual, but you'd think in ranked, players would want to play like you would in an officially sanctioned tournament, such as qualifiers or nationals.

Getting an iPhone in India is basically a huge deal for an individual. It involves a lot of financial planning and timing to get the latest iPhone. I come from a middle-class Indian family and I am no different. When Apple released the iPhone 14 Pro series with the Dynamic Island, I was really into it. But, working as a tech writer and having the knowledge that Apple would add the same to the lower-end iPhone 15 models, I waited a year, and Apple did add the Dynamic Island to the lower-end iPhone models in 2023.
As I was already planning to get the iPhone 15, I had saved for it. Hence, without a second thought, I got the device in October 2023. It was a blue iPhone 15 and it was a big deal for me!
Fast forward to February 2024, I was going on a planned trip to Kasol with my friends. We had to catch a train from Sealdah, Kolkata, and to get there, we planned to take a local train to Sealdah station. So, we got to our nearest local station and were waiting for the train. During that whole waiting time, a person was standing right next to us and was fiddling with his phone but also giving questionable looks to us.
The train finally came and if you are an Indian, you would know the amount of struggle that one needs to go through to get on a packed local train. We all had rucksack backpacks and went through the struggling ordeal to simply get on the train. That was not all! During the whole ride, I could not move anywhere or any body part due to the sheer amount of people surrounding me.
When we reached Sealdah, our final station, I got down with my friends. Then, my mother called my girlfriend's phone to check on us and told her that she could not call me as my phone was switched off. I thought that my phone was not switched off and should be right in my pocket. I went on to check my pocket only to find out that it was gone! It most probably was the guy who was giving the looks to us when we were waiting for the train.
Naturally, I started panicking big time and went straight to the Railway Police station nearby to report it. By the time we filed a report, our main train left the station and as a result, our entire trip was canceled. Without a phone in my hand and after having a dreadful day, I went back home.
Find My [The Savior]
Now, as my girlfriend also had an iPhone 11 and was a part of the Apple Family plan, I used it to put the stolen iPhone 15 in Lost Mode via the Find My app. I checked the location of the phone in Find My and it showed a station that falls between our local station and Sealdah.
My aunt is in the police force, so I informed her about the stolen device. She told me that as it is an iPhone, it would be difficult to locate its position. However, she got the IMEI slots of the device blocked and said that if anyone puts a SIM card in it and tries to use it, the device will be marked. Only then the police could locate the user and grab him.
I knew that no one would be able to unlock it and put a SIM to use it. Apple has some great security features that prevent thieves from accessing personal information stored in an iPhone. Hence, I was sure that he would never be able to unlock or reset the device.
Someone once told me that stolen mobile devices are taken to Bangladesh and sold in black markets. If the mobile devices are locked, they even open up the parts and sell them individually.
Days went by and there were no updates about the phone, neither from the police nor from Find My. As I work with iPhones and as it was so dear to me, I broke an FD to get another iPhone 15 in the meantime. I also closed the EMI for the previous device with the same and accepted the situation.
Now, a few weeks ago, the stolen iPhone 15 started pinging locations in Find My on my iPhone. In the meantime, my girlfriend also got an iPhone 15 and started checking the Find My app obsessively on her device to track its locations daily. Some days it showed multiple locations, and some days it was stagnant.
The more regular locations from where the iPhone was pinging were near a place called Canning. The place is known as the "Gateway of Sunderbans" and is one of the biggest crime hubs. If you search for Canning on YouTube or Google, you will get a gist of it.
Citing the last known location of the iPhone showing Canning station, I and my partner went there one day despite the risks, dangers, and warnings. Although we did not get any further location updates that day, we scoured around the place but did not talk to anyone. While returning home disappointed, we stopped by the police station there to let them know about the situation.
The next day, the iPhone showed multiple locations near the city of Kolkata, though none of them were much closer to my home. However, the day after that, my girlfriend woke me up in the morning to show that the phone was pinging a location that was very close to my place. Not only that, the phone pinged the same location thrice since she started checking the Find My app. So, I immediately got up and went to the location.
It was in a place called Dover Lane (Kolkata), near a residential tower and a hotel. I went there, parked the car, and started hovering around the place, trying to locate the person who we suspect stole the phone. During that time, the phone pinged the location once or twice, and at one point, it even showed that the device was "With You" in Find My.
I stood at the location for four hours and tried to spot the suspect. During that whole time, I kept the Find My app open on my current phone to aid the stolen device ping the location. However, it showed location was updated 3 hours ago.
Hopelessly, I sat in my car, thinking of returning home without the device. Just then, I saw this guy with a red t-shirt passing by my car. He looked like a young migrant worker or a daily laborer. His t-shirt was a bit torn and his pants were pretty dirty. I don't know why I looked at him in the first place but that is when I saw him take a phone out of his pocket.
"Is that a pale-blue colored phone?" Yes. He turned on the screen. "Is that the iPhone's Dynamic Island?" Yes! "Why is he on a setup screen?" I have no idea!
Right at that moment, I check the Find My app. After 3 hours, the location was finally updated and the "With You" tag was back. I hurriedly got out of my car and followed the guy for a few meters. He stopped at a local shop to get a beedi. Just when he was about to light it, I went up to him and said "Show me your phone, brother!". He answered, that there was no balance to make a call. I said that I didn't want to make a call.
"Just give the phone. I want to see it once!", I said. He immediately got it out and handed the device. During my usage, I once dropped the iPhone 15 and that made a tiny dent on the chassis, just above the screen. I checked for it, and it sure was there!
I grabbed the phone tight and said "Let's go to the police, kid!" Bewildered, he said, "That is not my phone, I got it from a friend! My own phone was stolen a few days ago and my friend gave this to me for the time, until I get a new one. If you want to go to the police, I sure can but believe me I did not know that this phone was stolen."
Now, it is worth noting that this guy was not the guy who we suspected stole the device. He was 25-28 years of age. This guy was just 18! He was still a kid.
I asked him where does he live and what does he do for a living. He said that he lives near Canning and works as a housekeeper in the city. Then I asked him, you cannot use this iPhone whatsoever, it is in the setup-screen and is showing locked to owner, so what exactly are you doing with this device? He said that when my friend gave it to me, I liked this phone. So whenever I leave the house, I carry it around just for "fancy"!
We knew that if we took him to the police, they would lock him up and beat him. The kid was just 18. So, after taking his name, address, and father's name, we let him go!
I emailed the GRPS at Sealdah where I first filed the FIR that I got the phone back.
To be honest, I had zero hopes of getting back the stolen iPhone, and that too with Find My. But thanks to my girlfriend who never lost hope and also motivated me to try and retrieve the device.
After all this, I have a newfound respect for Apple's Find My network and am surprised that it works so very well. It is one of the most underrated features of an iPhone that more people need to appreciate.
So, that is my iPhone story. If you ever lose your iPhone or have it stolen, do not, I repeat, DO NOT underestimate the power of Find My, and above all, never lose hope!

I know I know everybody says ignore Vantage scores but this one's a real weird one.
I was just added as an AU on my mom's 40-year-old Exxon Mobil card issued by Citibank. $4500 credit limit, $150 balance and no derogatories.
My Experian FICO 8 score went up 12 points from 707 to 719. My TransUnion vantage 3.0 score dropped 22 points from 670 to 648.
No other changes on credit report.

I'm thinking about getting a $3-5k secured loan with SECU in order to boost my credit score. My question is if I pay 2500 after first month will I have access to $2500 of my money or do they hold it all until the loan is paid off completely? If they hold it all would it be worth it to get it and pay it off in full after it shows on credit report? I'm mainly getting it to allow me to have access to higher credit limits in the future. I only got a 650 and all my cards are $500 with one going to $1200 in July.

I have never in my life ever dealt with something like this. My home received a visit yesterday from DHS (that’s what it’s called here in Arkansas). We weren’t home, but we did speak with the representative through our ring camera.
It wasn’t because of obvious abuse or neglect. It was because someone (explained down below) had made a report that my wife was misusing her prescription meds and neglecting our children. The rep was speaking to my wife in a sort of ill manner. When I chimed in, she rudely cut me off and said ”you stop talking, I need her to answer, not you”
Our children are happy and healthy. We have never raised a hand to them, nor have we ever verbally abused them. Our house is pretty clean aside from a little normal lived-in clutter. All safety devices are functional, and I have 3 fire extinguishers in the house. The cats litter is cleaned regularly too if that matters.
Basically, my in-laws, who live in another state over 100 miles away called in a report of neglect and endangerment citing explicitly that my wife abuses her meds prescribed by her psychiatrist. This was because we refused to let them have our kids come visit their house if they came to pick them up. We refused because they repeatedly violated one simple rule we had asked them to follow., which was to not allow a specific person around our children. The last words her (adoptive father, he married her mother) father texted after explaining why we said no were “I’ll see you in court you high strung out bitch, love your former father”
My question here is, what are our rights for this investigation? I know DHS has to take every report seriously. Does my wife have to show her meds and count them out? This lady was asking very specific questions regarding her meds and her MMJ card. Do HIPPA laws apply here?
Side note: Arkansas has a medical marijuana program, and my wife has a couple qualifying conditions. She uses it exactly as directed, which is to use at night to help her sleep. She had never used it recreationally before she got her card, and she does not have any criminal record nor any past DHS cases ever.

I've cleaned my credit completely, and into the upper 600s for FICO across TU, EQ, EX. No inquiries with EQ, two with TU, two with EX.
I applied for the citi double cash card and was declined. Letter in the mail said because of inquiries. I called the reconsideration line and the rep said that if there are ANY inquiries on your experian report, you are automatically declined. I reiterated that I had ONE inquiry on my experian report when I applied and she said it doesn't matter, any inquiries at all and you're auto declined.
So, beware when applying for cards, that it's gotten to the point that you can't have applied for credit within the last 24 months if you want one of the better cards...
Seems ridiculous.

Okay random but there are some errors with Reddit this morning and it won't let me upload my chart. Spoiler alert, I really don't need to do it in the first place bc the chart is pretty much unchanged. The entire market is pretty much in a holding pattern as it waits for CPI. PPI came out this morning and spoiler alert, it was hot. I think we were expecting that a bit as inflation proves sticky and I think overall a hot inflation report all but kills any hopes you get anything more than 1 rate cut this year.
Some people have been saying that they are still thinking 2-3 cuts and these guys haven't been paying attention if ya ask me. That is overly optimistic. The fed slowing down QT is a BIG BIG deal and that starts next month. That should bring yields on the 10 year start to drop. It's not going to be as dramatic as quantitative easing might be with the buying of treasuries. But it will really take away that upward pressure that has been on the 10 year which should help growth stock markets like us.
Why am I talking about all of this???? Well (may not seem like it at the moment) but we are a great growth stock. We are moving so flat and volume has completely dropped off as the entire market is waiting for CPI and ultimately NVDA's earnings. Seeing the meme stocks return was NOT on my bingo card for 2024 so good god. Massive speculation in the market is something to watch out for. If you see any crazy price spikes as dumb money flows in, I would be cautiously optimistic for sure.
AMD has really lost the narrative. I know this might not be popular to say but I've said it in the comments and discussion multiple times. Market is looking at new ATH and we are still soooo far off after literally DOUBLING our sales guidance. It's not a failure of execution. It is a failure of communication and narrative. Computex is our last really chance in the next 6 months to try to regain control of the microphone. I feel in my bones that Zen 5 is coming but we really need another "one more thing" moment that isn't super super technical. The fact that everyone is all quiet on MI300 chip sales and things makes me wonder if they don't want to sing the praises bc they already have a 2nd gen? They might be wanting to really just make it through initial order deliveries before seeing potential cancellations for 2nd gen. This is allllll just pure speculation here. There is zero data to support this.
I just remember when we were fighting these DC wars with INTC, it felt like there was articles every single day coming out about how Genoa and Epyc were destroying the competition. Now radio silence. And I don't know why???? I hope it is by design for some reason but if is not, then honestly every single person on their marketing team HAS to be fired. There needs to be a shakeup for real.
At the end of the day, This price action is giving us a decent value proposition for AMD where our valuation is starting to catch up to our share price. AMD isn't a value stock. If we were, then where is the dividend lol. I do worry that eventually shareholders are going to start to look for some sort of leadership shakeup and this is going to tarnish what Lisa has accomplished with AMD.
AMD it stuck in this middle ground of nothing and we are riding the bottom trendline of $150 for our channel. Hopefully we can hold on here but without holding support in this area, then we are being set up for a massive potential downturn if NVDA misses somehow. We are going to get crushed and get 3x the pain NVDA and we aren't going to get nearly any of the benefit if they beat. Welcome to the suck!

Hi. Today I went to the licencing offices in Akasia, Pretoria. Before entering the office, a black male approached my mom and I and said that he must check our documents before we could enter the building. He assisted with a photostat of an ID document, then said that we will have to pay R700 cash so that he can go get the docs that we needed inside the offices.
Lucky for us one of the girls working inside heard the conversation and came out to rescue us. She said that one can only pay with bank cards, and that the 'helper' would have taken the cash and disappeared. The black dude was very convincing and almost aggressive. We have reported this to the Metro Police (they have an office in the same complex). They said that they can't do anything about the helpers. No surprises there.
As a warning to anyone going to munisicpal offices to get any car-related dociments, keep in mind that they only take bank cards and stay away from all the 'helpers' outside insisting to help.

I am a rabbit sitter and boarder. I am a very niche, but apparently a much needed service. So far I have four confirmed bookings even though I just started. Keep in mind though, these are for multiple days. 7 days, 18 days, 3 days and 12 days.
Anyways. I love to craft. Sp I thought of doing a swag bag for each client. Currently, I do photo garlands as a keepsake for each rabbit and complimentary nail trims but I thought of expanding it so that upon pick up, a client goes home with a free personalized magnet with their rabbit on it, a sticker with my logo etc on it, my business card, a small clear poly zip bag to store it all in, and bunny report card and the photo garland. Which I have all designed and came make myself.

Hello, I Recently Got FD(5000) Kotak Card(4500 limit) And I Actually Have Multiple Questions.
1.CIBIL Decreased From 772 to 764 for Increased Utilisation On First Time Usage? Is it normal? 2.I Have Used lot More than what is reported in April. Why is the full amount usage not reported? 3.This month I have used more than last month but below 30%. Does that mean CIBIL will decrease again for increased utilisation?
Now I know i shouldn't worry about CIBIL Score a lot. But I want to apply for Amazon pay CC in 2 months(previously rejected) as my first unsecured card. So trying to keep it above 750. And it's getting close to 750. So worried about that. Any Suggestions? As long as I get one unsecured card I don't care about CIBIL Score.
