2024.05.15 04:33 rougettev [US] absent parent not exercising visitation

My son 13m father was absent for 4 years. He texted here and there and would occasionally pick him up for a few hours and drop him off. I never withheld. We have not had any direct contact since 2016 aside from when he wants his tax return. He only texts my son. Visits were once every 3-4 months. CO from 2011 says he has EOW. Long story short, he has a new gf and renewed sense of fatherhood I guess, and wants to start exercising his visitation exactly as it’s written.
He dropped this news on me when I was in the hospital giving birth to my child in November. Demanding I (and only I) immediately begin driving my son to him EOW. Obviously I couldn’t do it right then. Nor was I going to after so many years. He immediately filed contempt.
In the probate hall on hearing day, I saw he had just had a hearing with his other BM. Hilarious. So, the judge already knew he was absent from his other child a ince their case was right before ours. However, he was apparently only absent from them for 1-2 years. When we were called up, the judge stated that since it’s been so long since the CO was written, she wasn’t going to force anything, but that I was still technically in contempt. I found that a tad confusing. She said to my ex “clearly it’s been a tough year for you, you’re welcome to file a modification, as this CO doesn’t reflect the current situation.” That was that. Sent us home.
I know he is going to say in his complaint for modification that he was never absent. He’s been writing things to me in emails like “I’ve been there all 13 years”, as if he’s planning on just printing it out and bringing it in with him to our modification hearing.
What are ways that I can prove his absence if need be? Luckily we lived in an apartment building for 3.5 of those years, so he had to text my son “I’m here” when he picked him up. I also have all the texts where they’ve made plans, but he could always lie and say that was on top of his visitation I guess? I want to be as prepared as possible. I made a spreadsheet of every visit since 2020.
My goal: I really want to step up plan in place, as my son currently does not want to go with him.

2024.05.15 03:50 Over-Rock-54 Vehicles

Asking for advice on which route to take.
I have two vehicles. Both are 2011.
Vehicle 1 is a piece of crap Audi that currently needs several things done to it. It is not currently running because it needs a new battery, which is $500. I have a loan on this vehicle with a 5% interest rate. I owe more than what KBB says it's worth.
Vehicle 2 is a dependable nissan. It is my daily drive. It is paid for and is in decent shape.
Due to the loan I have to carry full coverage on the audi along with the full coverage I have on the other car.
My question is this: Do I continue to make payments and keep insurance on a car that isn't used?
Or do I trade both for one, using the nissan to offset the balance on the audi?
I'm thinking a new loan is going to have a higher interest rate than 5%, but if I'm making a car payment already, it should be on a vehicle I'm actually driving.
Thoughts?

2024.05.15 03:47 lnguy2 Before and After

Current progress with my shoulder tattoo. I don’t have a before photo. But it was script saving “it always rains on the people who deserve the sun” about 5-6 inches across my shoulder.
I got this tattoo in 2011. Started at a clinic in 2019 called Cascade Medical Spa (Portland, Oregon) with a q switch laser. Then the pandemic happened.
During this time my laser technician got a new job at a different clinic called Take It Off (also Portland, Oregon). At Take It Off, they also used a q switch laser. Unfortunately I feel like I wasn't really getting progress with a q switch later. At this point I was about 4-5 sessions in.
I am now accessing services at Removey (in Portland, Oregon). They are using picoway.
Photo 1 is with the 4-5 sessions with q switch. Photo 2 is after switching to Removery. Had my 6th session today. Taking a 6 month break now.

2024.05.15 03:16 atroxkeep [WTS] [ON] [Ottawa] MP5SD5 $250

Hello everyone,
I have been a member of ASC for almost 23 years and I have decided after a long time to part with my Tokyo Marui MP5SD5 as its just sitting around not getting the use that it deserves. I bought it back in 2011 from another user on ASC and I cant remember if its stock or not.
What you get: TM MP5SD5 12 Lowcap mags 1 Hi Cap mag 1900ma, 8.4v Ni-Cd battery Selectable charger 1.8amp or 0.9amp
https://imgur.com/VUX8ait
I have the A4 front end somewhere in my house and when I find it ill include that into the package also.
The gun had a misfire issue when I first bought it, but I ended up getting it to work. back then it would shoot 1 full power shot, 1 half power shot and 1 roll out the barrel shot while on semi. I fixed it to where its about 1 in ten semi shots will be half power the rest are full power. Full auto works great.
I'm looking to get $250 for the lot.
Currently located in Ottawa.

2024.05.15 02:55 TongueofMyth Let us eat cake, Let them eat shit- something you may don't know about Scrooge McCaul

When you're disappointed with the water usage restriction, think about the words "LET THEM EAT CAKE". Though the sentence from Marie Antoinette may result from the ignorance while McCaul is conscious of what he did.
In 2017, Michael McCaul, one of the richest members of congress, used more than 1.4 million gallons of water at his home. At the same time, the average usage of Austin resident is 20,000 gallons.
That happened in Austin, which has been going through the severe drought for decades. According to the data from Texas State Climatologist, by the middle of September, nearly 68% area of the state was in drought or severe drought. Despite Austin had already entered Stage 2 of Drought Contingency, the water-consumption went increasing.
The reason? When most of the residents are adhering to the policy for saving water, someone is squandering the precious water resources and trying to cover the fact.
Multi-family water consumption accounts for the main consumption, while in that part, the rich take the top. Data from the Austin Water shows that West Rim(Postal code 78746), a high-end community where McCaul lives, consumed nearly 900 million gallons water in August,2023( 4206 gallons per person), in contrast to the average 3930 gallon of citizen consumption. To confront the situation, the top consumption water-user will be exposed to the public for enhancing the supervision, when McCaul was listed on it twice in 2011 and 2018. Then there came the HB872 act In 2023, which requests to hide these data in the name of 'protecting users' privacy'. Since then, the relevant data hasn't been open anymore.
The money and water are similar, they flow underground and down to the "low".

Altima 2.5 gas mileage is insane
I recently started driving my MIL’s 2011 Altima S with only 29k miles, which she bought new. Unfortunately she has dementia so she can’t drive any longer, so we decided to park my Titan for a while and use this for my daily 60 mile commute. Of course the first thing I did was change the CVT fluid and replaced the original 13 year old dry rotted tires.
I got fuel this morning with a little less than 1/4 tank remaining, and managed to get 468 miles! If I pushed it, I could have certainly made it nearly 500 miles! What the what?!?! And this bugger is peppy.

And ofc, i make it short to save everyone's time.
The story has 2 perspective : Gojek, dan Tukang parkir (niatnya mau ada tambahan 1 lagi, yaitu cerita tentang guruku.. maybe next time i guess.)
Let's start with Gojek.
Gojek Kejadian ini terjadi pasca tahun 2021-an (kalo ga salah).
That's a daring move and deserve my respect. Tapi pas aku mau naik, beliau bilang.. ini baru pertama kali dia ambil pesanan malem-malem dan kebetulan aga capek (kalo ga salah inget). Aku tawarin untuk ngendarain motornya (it was a scoopy. its has good handling but slow as snail speed. but it has good fuel economy. hehe, maaf terlalu mendiskripsikan motornya).
Beliau bilang "Suami saya kabur". That bring a chill on my spine... karena ini ngobrol secara langsung. Beliau bela-belain Nganter barang sampai malam, dan bahkan nyoba nge-gojek. it's somewhat shows how mother figure should always be. She wants nothing but her kids to become succeed and didnt end up like her.
And today 2024, i share her story to here... it shows that maybe even at the very rock bottom, you cannot see down but only up. and you need to keep on going whatever your situation is.
okay, Mari kita langsung aja cerita kedua.
Tukang Parkir Mixue Miksu (ga boleh nyebut merek meskipun keliatan dikit, atleast its for the sake of the funni)
He give me many wise words dan saran sebelum beranjak ke dunia yang bener-bener dewasa. it was all fun and game.
But then, i ask him... "Tapi pak, dengan pemikiran dan wawasan yang luas. Kenapa bapak jadi tukang parkir?" He said ketika beliau di pelabuhan tanjung priuk, dulunya dia kerja sebagai pengangkut barang dan disukai sama bos-nya karena etos kerja-nya yang tinggi (Sambil nunjukin kertas kerja-nya, dan dokumen penting lainnya ketika kerja di pelabuhan tanjung priuk. I was surprised how did he trust me to the point to show me this).
He's respectable person... even as tukang parkir. Maybe some people doesnt have a choice and ended up like him. Bahkan orang berjasa kayak beliau aja di-injek". like damn..... Hope he's having a good day
That's the story for today folks. Have a good day !

2024.05.15 01:00 communist-crapshoot How to argue in favor of capitalism and against socialism, a helpful guide: Part 2.

Hello. My name is Bungling-Worm. You may remember me from my highly condemned submissions such as "Socialists-The Moralist Busybodies Preventing You From Beating YOUR Cheating C\nt of a Wife and Annoying Children", "Profit or: Humanity's Raisin Deter (sic).", "Who Really 'Needs' Clean Air and Water Anyway?", "Hayek Was Right! - How Fascism Saved Western Civilization™ From the Bolshevik Menace" and "SWEATSHOPS!-The Greatest Gift to Third-World Youths Since the Polio Vaccine.*"
Today I'd like to address my fellow capitalists. It's no secret that, much like the U.S. military in Iraq circa 2003-2011, we're losing the battle for the hearts and minds of our intended slav..subje...vict...vassa...thral...our fellow men™. For this reason my employer, Generic Right-Wing Think Tank Inc., in partnership with our good friends in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and the U.K. Special Intelligence Service (formerly U.K. Military Intelligence, Section 6), have contacted the eminent propagandist conservative philosopher picnic-boy and gained his gracious permission to make an official Part 2 to his highly acclaimed How to argue in favor of capitalism and against socialism, a helpful guide the table of contents of which is freely available (for a limited time only) here: https://www.reddit.com/CapitalismVSocialism/comments/1cqvdsv/comment/l3wuegi/
Without picnic-boy's pioneering achievements in sophistry this work would not be possible. Now, without further add-do (sic) I give you a sneak peak into the table of contents of How to argue in favor of capitalism and against socialism, a helpful guide: Part 2.
  1. State, often and always without evidence (because none exists), that socialists control all mainstream news media, organized religion (especially the Catholic Church, the Jesuit Order, the Hasidic Colleges and every sect of Islam), Western academia, K-12 public education, the entire U.S. civil service/bureaucracy (from the municipal all the way up to the federal), the FBI, the CIA, the Justice Department, the Democratic Party, the Fraternal Order of Freemasons, Hollywood, all police unions, the AFL-CIO board, the entire federal judiciary, all the major drug cartels and organized crime syndicates, the Federal Reserve System and the governments of literally every single third and second world country, especially the far-right and non-white majority ones. At the exact same time, and this is really important so pay close attention, accuse socialists of being unpopular teenage losers living in their parents' basement who're too lazy to get a job.
  2. When socialists remark upon how similar the claims in point 1 are to contemporary Neo-Nazi conspiracy theories and start to question how you feel about Jewish people turn around and accuse them of being "the real anti-semites" for "wanting to take all the Jews' money away ". In no way is this conflation of all Jews with rich capitalists a form of economic antisemitism. If someone points out that it is simply cherry pick quotes from Marx's "On the Jewish Question" out of context so that none of the parts where Marx makes it clear he is only critiquing Judaism as a religion while at the same time advocating for the political emancipation of Jews as people are clear to the reader. After that go on to talk about how much you support Israel and how much happier you think diaspora Jews would be if they permanently immigrated there. Also and for no particular reason talk about the "failure" of the Kibbutzim apropos of nothing and don't elaborate on anything.
  3. Always portray struggles of democratic socialists within ML states/the Eastern Bloc as struggles for capitalism. Yes, it is true the people who organized the East German Uprising of 1953, the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, the Prague Spring of 1968, and the Polish Solidarity Movement of the 1980's (before the Vatican and CIA hijacked it) all demanded democratic socialism, yes they all said that, but what they "really wanted" was capitalism and don't you let any so-called "historian" tell you otherwise.
  4. Pretend that socialists invented the very concept of the state and thus that all state rulers from the Roman Emperors, Egyptian Pharaohs, Greek Archons, etc. to modern Kings, Kaisers, Tsars and Presidents were/are "socialists".
  5. Don't forget to liberally pepper your psychotic rants with plenty of freudian slips and accusations in a mirror. For example, make the claim that socialists want to destroy the family so that they can isolate, abuse and indoctrinate women and children while at the same time assert that wives and children are nothing more than an extension of "the individual" who need to be shielded by this individual from an unrealistically hostile and confusing world (literally everything and everyone outside the home).
  6. Assert that socialists invented taxation and ignore that the first taxes in recorded history took the form of land-rents set by the first governments (which were councils of militaristic landlords).
  7. Defend rent-seeking and landlordism so long as it's done by private individuals. Remember rent-seeking is only bad when the government does it because they spend that money on social parasites and welfare leeches, unlike landlords who spend it on their second families in the next state over.
  8. Claim fascism is a form of socialism but also defend the legacies of lesser known fascist regimes, military dictatorships and other totalitarian right-wing governments whose symbols and mottos the people in your country haven't developed a learned fear response to yet the way they have the Swastika and the Fasces.
  9. When leftists point out that the main victims of things like the Great Purge and the Chinese Cultural Revolution were socialists, communists, anarchists and other left-wing intellectuals who opposed Stalin and Mao's cults of personality either ignore them and maintain that the "real victims" were the tiny minority of "innocent" religious extremists, ultranationalists (who were "definitely not" fascist collaborators or spies), and resource hoarders who were killed or do a complete one hundred and eighty degree pivot and actually defend the Great Purge and Cultural Revolution because "The more left someone is, the more violent/dictatorial they are, therefore anyone to the left of Stalin and Mao would have been more violent than them and it's a good thing they were killed."
  10. If you think any of these points are self-contradicting just remember that doublethink is merely a tool and "communists" (Stalinists) shouldn't be the only ones allowed to make use of it.
  11. Ignore the mountains of evidence that an anti-Stalinist left exists. Portray these leftists as right-wingers and edit their most famous works to leave out the many mentions of their own support for socialism.
  12. Remind your interlocutor(s) that socialism is gay and cringe.
  13. Remember that reading is gay but total illiteracy is still kinda cringe (unfortunately). Therefore read as little as humanly possible without going full illiterate. Our recommendation is to only read blurbs from ancap websites, your favorite right-wing conspiracy theorists' social media threads and your fellow "capitalists' " reddit posts and nothing else.
  14. In keeping with point 13 let the only things you "know" or "learn" about socialism be things you absorbed through osmosis and half remember from your high school history textbooks assuming you even read them at all. Never look at primary sources, never listen to people trying to explain things to you in detail, always complain that quotes provided to you are "blocks of text" or "unoriginal".
  15. Remember that conformism, unquestioning obedience to authority, an unflinching belief in the correctness of the current socioeconomic status quo and conventional wisdom, and a general Panglossian worldview with a huge heaping of moral nihilism (which is definitely a real philosophical school of thought and not just a rationalization of one's own sociopathic tendencies) are actually somehow radical and that "conservatism is the new punk rock" of the 21st century.
  16. Remember that guy begging for spare change you passed on your way to work? That was a capitalist. Capitalists are actually worse off than everyone else in society as hard to believe as that may seem. You see when it comes to capitalists' they're "cash poor, asset rich" which means all their wealth is tied up in assets like yachts and sports cars and mansions and designer suits and second summer homes and third winter homes and tropical island resorts where "nothing unethical ever happens so shut up about it already"...and you see they can't use these assets to buy groceries or clothing or even pay the "exorbitant" property taxes on their assets. So you see the real unfortunates in our society aren't the homeless or the victims of police brutality or refugees or the working poor, it's capitalists. These brave men and women take (minor) financial risks by using what little cash they have to found businesses, not for their own benefit but for ours, so that they can give us jobs and provide us with products and services and then what do these generous souls get in return for their herculean efforts? Just a whole lot of ingratitude from socialists and a bunch of tacky junk they can't even use to feed and clothe their many, many illegitimate and adoptive children that they're definitely not doing anything questionable with on their tropical islands that aren't even worth that much anymore because of rising sea levels (which have nothing to do with climate change, which is just a Chinese communist plot to make Americans poor don'tcha know?).

2024.05.15 00:48 Sad-Tomorrow-4530 Buying a used car in Ontario

Hello everyone,
Not sure if this is the right channel but would love to get some advice!
I’m researching and finally looking to finance a used car. Looking for potentially a Toyota Camry (2011-2017).
I’m very new to the car market and I’m afraid to get scammed from some of the sales people.
Few questions I have: 1. When talking to sales person, what are some key things I should ask before going for a test drive? 2. I heard that dealerships turn you away if you don’t finance with them? I have good credit score so I’m trying to get the lowest interest rates 3. If I do go and see the car, what are some things to look out for?
Any advice would be greatly be appreciated!

2024.05.15 00:47 DULUXR1R2L1L2 [PC] 22U Rack, Dual Core Xeon Server 128GB, Supermicro NAS 64GB, PCs

I love my homelab but I'm moving and need to downsize. I know what I paid for these items, but I'm not sure what they're worth now. The whole solution is a pretty great lab, you can run a ton of VMs and host a lot of storage, there's room for expansion and it's very flexible. Some would say the parts are obsolete, but I find they're still powerful and the energy consumption isn't bad. Plus, lots of parts (cases, rack, PSUs, heatsinks, PDUs, etc) are still commonly used. I've listed the items in each server and what I think they might be worth (in CAD). I'm open to any feedback. Thanks.

2024.05.15 00:33 ThrowAway943533 DDC's representative was not completely accurate when describing Wisconsin's room tax law at the April 9, 2024 Ephraim village board meeting

The minutes, included in a draft version within the May 14, 7:00 P.M. board packet, https://ephraim.wi.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/24-5-14-Board-Packet.pdf#page=11, describe the DDC employee as stating:
DDC still has to by state law receive 70% of the room tax collection.
The title reflects my assumption that the draft minutes correctly report what was said on April 9. If this was misreported, I will delete the post right away.
There is nothing in the state statutes which requires that a single tourism entity receive the 70%. The 70% portion of the room tax money may be distributed to multiple tourism entities, if that is what the Door County Tourism Zone Commission desires. It happens that there is only one tourism entity presently receiving the money, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There is another option for Ephraim to look into.
https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1/f states that tourism entities must have been created before January 1, 2015. The Ephraim Business Council was first registered with the state in 1963: https://apps.dfi.wi.gov/apps/corpsearch/Details.aspx?entityID=6E03737&hash=1855910145&searchFunctionID=00c8372f-e872-4732-87cc-d096cf086605
The 1963 founding means it is old enough. As a tourism entity, it would be required to spend 51% of its revenues on tourism promotion and tourism development, and provide destination marketing staff and services for the tourism industry in a municipality.
If the Ephraim Business Council received enough room tax money from the Tourism Zone, and passed it to the village of Ephraim for tangible municipal development, that would allow it to qualify for the 51% if it does not already. Eligible tangible municipal development expenses count as a form of “tourism promotion and tourism development”, according to https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1/fm
The Ephraim Business Council maintains the Ephraim Visitor Information Center, and this 990 form indicates that it has one full time, salaried employee: https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/391539213/202311189349200636/full
That means it meets the “destination marketing staff and services” requirement.
The Ephraim Business Council could create a committee made up of entirely of unpaid Ephraim village board members. The council could receive a portion of the 70% directly from the Tourism Zone, and allocate it to the village for eligible tangible municipal development purposes according to the decisions of the committee.
That things could be set up this way is contradicted by what the DDC representative said at the meeting, according to the draft minutes. State law has restrictions about how to spend the 70% portion of room tax money, but her comment over-stated the extent of the restrictions. This is what https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1m/b/2 states:
the commission shall contract with another organization in the zone to perform the functions of the tourism entity.
This does not expressly prohibit a commission from contracting with two or more organizations, each receiving part of the 70%.
The quoted comment from the DDC representative came as part of a discussion on whether room tax dollars from the Community Investment Fund could be spent on fireworks. Elsewhere, https://doorcountytourismzone.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Open-Session-Packet-April-2024.pdf#page=32, it is revealed that the village of Ephraim has accumulated a legal bill of $22,548 over their complaint regarding the Community Investment Fund. In responding to the complaint, the Door County Tourism Zone Commission has spent $4,903. Ephraim would like the Tourism Zone to pay the $22,548 so they don’t have to, but the Tourism Zone won’t pay it.
This is a waste of tax money. A democratic alternative to wasting more tax money on legal fees would be for a special joint meeting to be held for all board and council members, from all Door County municipalities. Together, they could write and vote on a resolution expressing their intentions to the Door County Tourism Zone Commission. The resolution could be more of a general nature if there isn’t much agreement, or it could spell things out more precisely if that is possible.
Topics they could consider:
When writing the resolution, the votes could be taken by municipality, the representation from each municipality having one vote. A majority of all the municipalities could pass a measure. If a small number of the municipalities balked at participating, a meeting with a majority of the municipalities could be held anyway. When it is finished, each municipality could decide to individually approve or reject the jointly-written resolution. This could be done at the joint meeting, for municipalities which have a quorum present. For those lacking a quorum, or skipping the special joint meeting, approvals could wait until the next regular meetings.
A resolution written in this manner would not be legally binding on the Tourism Zone, but the Tourism Zone board members would be practically compelled to follow it. If certain board members don't comply, they could be removed and replaced, since they serve at the pleasure of the principal elected official in their member municipalities. Any members which are removed may be replaced by someone else chosen by the principal elected official, and confirmed by a majority vote of the board or council members who were present at the time of the vote: https://doorcountytourismzone.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Door-County-Tourism-Zone-Commission-By-Laws.pdf#page=2
Wisconsin's state constitution restricts the state government itself from being a party in carrying on works of internal improvements: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/related/wiscon/_18/_12
There are exceptions to this and a history of court cases. However, the clause only applies to the state. Municipalities are allowed to build internal improvements: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/misc/lrb/reading_the_constitution/reading_the_constitution_3_1.pdf#page=7
This implies that any system of allocating tangible municipal development dollars must stem from municipal authority instead of the state’s own authority. Because the scope of tourism entities includes tangible municipal development, and tangible tangible municipal development includes the works of internal improvements, it would be unconstitutional for them to claim powers derived directly from the state.
The powers of the Tourism Zone to tax and distribute funds, and of Destination Door County and the Community Investment Fund to spend the funds distributed to them, are derived from municipal authority. Along with the method for appointing and removing Tourism Zone board members, the authority structure suggests that a resolution authored by a joint meeting of the municipalities would be regarded as compelling by the Tourism Zone.
The state does not forbid municipalities from holding joint meetings. This is a recent example of a joint meeting held by two town boards: https://townofoaklandwi.com/2024/04/28/joint-meeting-town-of-meenon-town-of-oakland-on-05-01-2024-615pm-new-town-hall/
This notice describes the meeting being held at a new town hall. An earlier article describes the towns considering the purchase of a property together to serve as a town hall for both towns: https://www.burnettcountysentinel.com/news/shared-town-halls-possible/article_9dcfb588-a30d-11ed-b60f-0fb4ae6c11d9.html
If two towns in Burnett County can hold a legally valid joint meeting, nineteen Door County municipalities are capable of doing the same.
If nothing is done and the status quo continues, will legal bills continue to increase? Besides the current dispute, a second legal issue has the potential to arise, resulting in more litigation. This would be if the Community Investment Fund were to grow too large. One person recorded in the draft Ephraim minutes described the fund as already being at a million and a half dollars. There are several annotations stating that tax money cannot be accumulated and kept as a surplus having no public purpose: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/60/vi/40/5
Although this refers to towns, the authority to spend tax room money is likewise delegated, so it also applies to the Tourism Zone, Destination Door County, and the Community Investment Fund. Were they to accumulate a surplus with no public purpose, courts could intervene. Exactly how much of a surplus there would need to be for courts to get involved, I don't know.

2024.05.15 00:26 ASkinnyKid Recommendation for first time dog owner in apartment

**Introduction** 1)Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs? * This will be my first dog, though I had a cat for 8 years previously. 2)Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]( http://ownresponsibly.blogspot.com/2011/07/identifying-reputable-breeder.html)? * No preference 3)Describe your ideal dog. * I would like one who can accompany me on walks daily (including potentially long hikes on weekends or dog parks) but also would be willing to chill with me on the couch happily at any time. I would prefer one without serious separation anxiety as I do leave the house daily for several hours at a time, even though I work from home. Also, tolerance/friendliness towards other dogs/people would be nice as I do enjoy going to breweries and would love a companion along with me. 4)What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? * I'm just beginning my research, but have been intrigued by Standard Schnauzers, Boston Terriers, and the Spanish/Portuguese water dogs. 5)What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do? * Basic things for now, potentially more advanced stuff down the road. 6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport? * Definitely not. **Care Commitments** 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? * I can easily do several hours due to the amount of downtime I have with working from home. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? * Same answer as above, several hours if needed. I have a dog park at my apartment and several parks around that I could take them. Anything from walking to playing fetch to running. 9)How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? * I suppose weekly? I am willing to pay a professional for anything besides brushing. **Personal Preferences** 10)What size dog are you looking for? * Apartment will not allow over 75 pounds, so less than that. I don't have any interest in a 5 pound dog though. 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? * Not much of any. Barking should be minimal in an apartment. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? * Not particularly important, more of an added bonus if able. **Dog Personality and Behavior** 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? * Both? 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? * No preference 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? * Certainly no barking if someone knocks. Attentiveness or walking to the door would be perfectly fine by me. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? * Absolutely not. 17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid? * I wouldn't ever tolerate any kind of aggression, but otherwise I can't think of any. **Lifestyle** 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone? * 2-4 hours daily during the week for errands/gym. 19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog? * I live alone. 20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they? * No. 21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly? * No. 22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease? * Rent - I live on the third floor of an apartment without an elevator. No aggressive breeds and under 75 pounds. 23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds? * USA; none I am aware of 24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live? * Low to mid 90's in summer; mid to upper 30's in winter **Additional Information and Questions** 25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant. * I live on the third floor of an apartment so I'd prefer any dog that will not suffer from hip problems or that would be difficult to carry upstairs if necessary (I COULD carry 50 pounds upstairs though wouldn't want to often). I don't plan on living here for more than a year or two longer though.

2024.05.14 23:40 HugeLag Starter Motor Rattling Sound

A bit of a long post but I really appreciate if someone can read it all and offer some advice.
I have a Silverado 2011 1500 LT 5.3Ltr Z71 truck. My truck has been making 2 sounds. The first is when I change the gear into P, R,D,N,M I hear a sort or slapping sound/clunk? The second sound I hear is at 30-60mph it's a sound coming from the left side of the truck kind of a crunch.
So I took it too a mechanic who previously fixed my dad's mercedes really well, and we were happy he would be able to address the silverado concerns.
He advised on changing the following:-
Gear mounting Spark plug 45*8 urgent Belt+ pully Filter ac Cabin Air filters Gear oil urgent Gasket gear Filter gear Rear seal gear Break Pad front and rear Converter repair Axcel repair Transfer case oil X2 shudder fix lube Labor Charge
All Original AC Delco Parts for Chevy
Total USD: 2200
Initially I was happy that he would be addressing the severe transmission leaks I was having and bad seals. He did assure me that doing all the above would fix sounds 1 and sounds 2 as stated above. He also sent me the invoices of parts all original AC Delco, and videos as well as proof of him changing it all.
However,
After the mechanic put everything together I noticed a horrible rattling sound which lasts 1-3 seconds upon start up. This was when he told me job was done.
After some heavy digging on the internet I came to find that it's a starter motor issue. He also told me that it was a starter motor issue.
Judging by the fact that my transmission was dropped down and opened since they needed to repair the torque and all these seals etc... I'm conflicted whether they didn't install the flywheel correctly and it's misaligned with the starter. Or the starter motor just needs to be replaced.
I am really hoping the starter motor just needs to be replaced as I don't want to pay more labor charges to have the flywheel properly aligned or replaced all together as that would mean they need to drop the trans again and open it up. I have told the mechanic I won't be paying until they fix this issue Inwas quite upset.
The mechanic stated himself it's a starter motor issue. What do you guys think?
I feel like paying for all the work he did has probably saved the life of my transmission, but at the cost of a new sound arising. I live in a part of the world where English isn't the first language so there's a communication issue as well.

2024.05.14 23:22 U41k88 Help! I completed my last year of my masters in 2015 and I have (more or less) ignored my student loans since then.

Hello studentloans,
I am trying to sort through my student loans for the first time in a significant time! I initially graduated back in 2011 with my BA and MST and started teaching right off the bat. I was not aware of income-driven repayment when I first started and so I opted to enroll in “extended graduated repayment”. I made payments up until around 2014. I ended up going back to school for an advanced certificate and applied for deferment. I started making payments after I graduated in the spring of 2015. Once Covid hit I elected to not make payments up until a few months ago when payments resumed. I currently have around 53,000 dollars in loans and I’m trying to sort out the best way to take advantage of loan forgiveness and zero out the loans. As I mentioned earlier, I was a public school teacher and I am currently a school administrator (both in title 1 schools if that matters) I am struggling making sense of everything and I have been trying to contact Mohela, Fedloans and other agencies like NYC DOE, but I find myself spending hours on the phone and not getting anywhere. I am wondering if anyone can please help me answer a few questions:
1.) Does any of my payments or time qualify towards PSLF 2.) IDR plans options are 150-200 more than what I currently pay a month…is that normal and are there other options I can explore that can reduce/maintain payments while also qualifying for loan forgiveness? 3.) what, if any, recommendations do you all have as to actions I should take for loan forgiveness?
Any help would be really appreciated!!!

2- Considering that I am poor and can only choose between Xeon LGA 2011 processors or Ryzen / Intel with cheap motherboards (A320; B350; H110M and similar)
3- Considering that I don't care about the future possibilities of component expansion or how bad the hardware will get old.
**\* These are some problems I have encountered so far:
I'm considering:
A - Xeon E5 2680v4 + a better CPU cooler
B - Ryzen 2600
C - Search for Intel alternative.
Can you suggest an option or give me a suggestion? Thank you.
