I was thinking for my 18th birthday (end of June) I wanna go to build a bear. It may sound weird to most people, but personally it’s an ideal situation.
Thing is, I haven’t been to a BaB since I was like 6 (so 12 years ago).
Apparently, the store layout/design I remember is considered VINTAGE now. (This is the first time I have felt old lol)
I have no idea what to expect anymore. Everything I have memories of is apparently gone and I have no clue what replaced them.
Also, are the fur textures better now???? Please say yes lol. Last time I went there (reminder it’s 12 years ago), the only fur I could remotely tolerate was this Elsa bear. But even that one wasn’t good, because the fur was crimped and stiff.
I’m probably more picky than the average person cause I’m autistic, but I lowkey feel like I’m not being ridiculous on this one (who crimps the fur of a plushie???? That’s just wrong)

 | So today's the last day of beandemic submitted by yareyarewensledale25 to almightysaltfrog [link] [comments] Last day I woke up at 6pm, tell my mom I was going for a walk, she trusts me, she also leaves the room, I quickly prepare the bag by putting the stolen tape, mask, water bottle (which I never used at all), tablet and the printed beans, so my mom asked me why I need the bag and I respond with "I'm taking a long walk", at first she didn't want me to "go outside the neighborhood" incase of stray dogs, but I promised her that I wouldn't go outside the neighborhood, and then my mom gave me permission to go for a walk outside. So I walk my butt to school and realize my crucial mistake, I forgot those tape cutters, so basically I ripped out tape with both my hands and nails, doesn't matter, all that matters is making the plan successful, so I proceeded to rip out tape and stick the printed beans on the school for a while until I realized I was running out of time, so yeah I basically unleashed 120 percent of my body strength on ripping bloody tape, while I was sticking the beans I realized that most of the beans were in the front of the school so the sides and backs of the school was as naked as Adam from ror, after I realized that I ran out of the printed papers of beans I proceeded to record the aftermath and baki pose myself in a spiderman mask and a spiderman hoodie, after that I hopped out of the fence and walked back home While I reached my home my mother was outside waiting for me and manage to convince her that I "went for a run in the school" , then she proceeded to tell me to go for groceries. Welp guess it was a fair deal since I've walked alot to put the printed beans, but that wasn't the problem , I felt my foot as if it was being stabbed from the inside, but guess we know the old saying "win stupid games win stupid prizes" From the groceries I bought myself some salted peanuts Today, I went to school so I can hear the principal say something like "we have a bean menace and he needs to be expelled right now!" In a j.jonah Jameson voice, but the bean were gone, all of them, as if I never sticked them. Ok that happened, after some time and perfect timing and hiding the tape and another picture of bean boy saying "hello again friend, sorry for my intrusion in the teachers office, but I aided myself with one of your tapes, thank you and lots of regards" carefully and Leave it in the teachers office, I wait in my classroom to here somebody screaming, but it never happened, after the 4th hour I started drawing the wall as usual and proceed to accept defeat and ask the janitor if she had seen some beans on the wall, She says "yeah, do you know who did it" , I shrug, and then both the janitor and the teacher that was sitting next to her realized that I did it. Did I get in trouble? No, I was told from my teacher that it was a terrible idea but the three of us laughed it off. It started as a mission impossible like challenge and it ended wiith a prank that all of us laughed it off, I guess in the end all of us wins. Though a month was wasted. Now for the real question. Will I do a similar challenge? Maybe. |

I'm curious about your approach on a problem I'm having. How do you handle designing modular areas within a larger game world?
My current project has many close-by islands the player can jump between. My initial plan was to have a main "world" scene that contains island scenes that I can plop down wherever I want.
From a level design standpoint this sucks though, because the designer has to go into each island scene to edit it and can't see the larger game context.
Any thoughts or patterns to handle this?
Do I just put up with it? Should islands not be scenes? Place them as scenes and make them local? Other ideas?

Christie emerged from the bathroom once her nerves had calmed and found one of the chateau’s windows that looked out on the western ridgelines. She reached into her handbag and produced a stick of lipstick, sighted on a curve of blackness intersecting a particular constellation rising into the night sky, and pushed a discreet button on the base. The task force now had confirmation that Rayker was inside the chateau and the machine would be set in motion.
As she turned to head back to the party, Christie saw a different range of mountains in the corner of her eye. A fishhook stabbed into the muscle of her heart and tugged, while she was nearly overwhelmed with nausea. For a moment, a dusty valley surrounded her, the rocky ground coursing with streams of blood. The ghostly white face of Rose Djallen was before her, life fading from her eyes. Christie wanted to gasp, but she let the pain wash over her in silence, as they had all done so often. A moment’s concentration brought her back to the present, and the dangerous operation ahead.
Rayker’s expression had been so devoid of warmth—as though she wore her psychotic nature with pride. Christie couldn’t understand how someone could be so inhuman. She wondered what would happen if Rayker sensed the trap that was closing around her. Christie knew that she, and probably some of the guests, would be taken hostage. No doubt the dozens of Rangers stalking through the darkness would break cover, racing through the night to rescue her, with one particularly hard-headed individual out front. The highly skilled operators now preparing their own move on the chateau would fight their way inside, killing anyone who resisted them. The Banshee, their well-armed gunship, would break its cloak, leaving its position behind Ambrosia’s second moon to rain hellfire down on the small army that provided security for the Helvetic League’s pleasure planet. Rayker would probably die in a hail of gunfire—giving Rose her deserved retribution—for the Valkyrie would eagerly sacrifice their own lives before leaving one of their own behind.
Then the news of the incident would spread, and humanity’s thirty-seven worlds would talk of nothing else but the secret army of super soldiers that protected them from the arsenal of the Jotnar—an ancient and extinct civilization, who’s abandoned weapons and warships littered the stars. Nations, corporations and crime syndicates would find ways to track down those weapons, exploiting their incredible destructive power for their own selfish purposes. There would be war, billions would die, and, like those who had preceded them, humanity would probably wipe itself out.
Rose had died protecting Christie from Rayker’s drone army, but she had also died to uphold Valkyrie’s ancient responsibility.
That operation had ultimately saved the planet Caldera, but in the chaos and confusion of the battle Rayker had managed to slip away. The organization had spent nearly two years trying to hunt her down, but she was too skilled, too deeply enmeshed in the Helvetic League’s underworld.
The council of chiefs, Valkyrie’s inscrutable governing body, had agreed to form Task Force Nemesis under the command of General Smyrna. She was assigned the Mountain Ranger’s Bravo company—the Venomous Vipers—a Raider squadron of elite counter terrorists, and a task unit from Orbital Demolition Team Four. Supported by the Banshee and guided by Christie’s intelligence gathering unit, their mission statement was simple—do whatever it took to kill or capture Allana Rayker.
As they made slow, painstaking process, they began to receive indications that their target had rejoined her old corporate paymasters at VennZech, the most powerful weapons manufacturer in the galaxy. Then, the news broke that Joakkim Meissner, one of Rayker’s suspected allies, had been promoted to Chief Executive, arranging his party on Ambrosia to celebrate.
He had also invited one of the League’s rising stars in physics. The brilliant young doctor Ernst Kolar was a specialist in theoretical energy development. He had recently published a paper describing a theoretical anti-matter reactor alarmingly similar to those that powered the warships and killing machines of the Jotnar. Christie’s team leader, Jiao Zhang, had offered the high-confidence assessment that Rayker would refuse to let such an asset out of her sight. The code word signaled that Christie had identified Rayker in the chateau, and the operation was a go. A double burst of static followed; a squad-level transmission from Kes. It was the order to take out the security guards.
Kayla and Ray had crawled as close as they could to their position, readied their stun rifle and waited patiently. As the signal came in, the men had pushed away from their boulder rest spot and were resuming their patrol through the woods. Kayla waited until their line of sight had passed her, before she stood slowly, weapon aimed. A faint rustle told her that Ray had done the same.
The guard at the back, still slurping from a water bottle, fell a little further behind. The stun rifle’s projectile hit him in the neck, shocking his nervous system into an overload state. He seized and dropped to the ground, unconscious. The men ahead of him span and there was a mechanical thump from Ray’s weapon. Her shot struck center mass, and another figure collapsed, just as Kayla pulled the trigger again. The last guard went down quickly, but, to Kayla’s shock, seemed to remain conscious. He struggled on the ground like a dying fish as he tried to reach for his radio, so she sprinted forward and kicked him in the head.
Kayla wrinkled her nose and cursed quietly. The scientist who had trained her squad on the weapon had explained that a failed shot would result in the victim emptying the contents of their bowels and bladder. Looks like she had been right.
“Three down,” she muttered into her helmet mic. “No other contacts in sight.”
Even so, she continued to scan the distant trees carefully.
Ray secured the guards with serum injections while Tian and Yak, the other two members of the fire team joined them. The projectiles were gathered into Tian’s rucksack, and, when the rest of the squad arrived, they moved off through the trees together, climbing the slope until they reached another crest, and a chain link fence.
Half a mile away from the chateau, the main security compound provided a base for the guard’s rapid reaction force. The compound had a single entrance and out of the blockhouse blue light flickered to the loud chatter of an excited racing commentator.
Kayla stopped in the shadows of the trees and waited patiently. The air above her head snapped and cracked as rounds shot past, impacting security cameras and sensors around the compound. The bullets were a large caliber, but with a thermic charge core. Each strike glowed brilliantly as intense temperatures melted through their targets, leaving no evidence of what had neutralized them.
She grinned. Thandi was going to work, and though her presence and skill made Kayla feel much more confident, she would still tease her about doing the ‘easy part’ later.
In the near distance, there were a pair of flashes and loud zaps as the base’s generator and backup went out to EMP charges. Another squad from their platoon was working their own approach. That made Kayla nervous. The two elements would soon have to meet up, and nothing could be more dangerous to those who owned the night than confusing each other for the enemy.
She took her team around the base to the now dark main gate as the on-duty guards emerged to check on the loss of power. Stun rifle shots knocked them out, and the squad regrouped behind the cover of a vehicle bay, while Kayla identified the largest building in the compound and watched it attentively.
They waited patiently until the silence was broken by a new voice on the radio.
“Eyes on the barracks, north side. No movement.”
“South side clear,” Kayla confirmed.
“Approaching,” the other squad leader said.
Kayla waited until she saw shapes emerging from the shadows and sprinting behind the back of the large structure. Then, one leaned out from the corner, watching. Kayla tapped a control on her helmet, and a perfect white line broke through her grey world, pointing towards the figure. She was answered with a similar flash of infra-red energy, and her anxiety eased.
Kes, who had also been watching, tapped her shoulder, and Kayla led off towards the barracks.
From outside the Rangers could make out the annoyed calls of men and women stumbling around in the darkness. One emerged from a side door and nearly got off a shout before Tian tackled him and knocked him out. The two squads moved quickly, cracking open doorways and rolling gas grenades inside.
Invisible and odorless, the gas contained the signature compound Valkyrie used to erase memories. The Rangers waited a few minutes, safe behind their face masks, then entered and confirmed that all inside were unconscious. “Ick. Two in the barracks were uh… in the middle of something when they passed out. I had to pull them apart.” She pulled a face. “That was gross.”
Kayla winked at her friend, who was spiritual enough for the both of them. “Unmarried, I bet. Your god approves.”
Thandi nodded gratefully, then shot her a look. “He’s not just my—"
Kes marched over, her expression severe. “Do either of you have EMP charges left?” she demanded.
“Yes Corporal,” Kayla nodded, and patted her rucksack.
“There’s a couple of transports left in the north corner. Get on it, then rejoin us on the east fence. Come on, we need to move quickly!”

“Um… All mine,” stammered Kolar. “Sorry. I’m—”
“Doctor Kolar, isn’t it?” interrupted a renowned and pompous pianist. “You’re working on space batteries for VennZech weapons research, or some such thing?”
“Well…” Kolar gulped. “We’re starting a new project on micro-singularities at the Planck scale, you see the current theory on weak—”
“It’s weak, you say?” The pianist laughed raucously as he slapped the doctor’s back. “Well, I never would have guessed, old boy.”
“Tell me, Zotty,” Christie cut in, addressing one of the other men, “Didn’t you just tell me this was one of Meissner’s inner circle?” she tottered forward slightly as she spoke.
“Correct,” the elder son and heir apparent of the largest media corporation in the League replied with a smile. He lifted his gaze from her bosom. “Doctor Kolar’s work is vital for the Maestro.”
Kolar smiled gratefully. “Indeed. Well, it’s about energy generation.”
“Oh, I hope you aren’t helping him make more of those dreadful bombs,” Christie said, and pouted. “War is very wrong! Really, I don’t know why they haven’t sanctioned the company for some of the absolutely horrid things they produce.”
The surrounding billionaires nodded their approval, while Kolar flushed. “No… well, I mustn’t talk about it, but I shouldn’t be getting involved in that side of VennZech’s business.”
“Quite right.” Christie nodded. “Oh, but you’re dry.” She turned to a waiter, grabbed a pair of glasses from his tray and handed one to Kolar.

From outside the Rangers could make out the annoyed calls of men and women stumbling around in the darkness. One emerged from a side door and nearly got off a shout before Tian tackled him and knocked him out. The two squads moved quickly, cracking open doorways and rolling gas grenades inside.
Invisible and odorless, the gas contained the signature compound Valkyrie used to erase memories. The Rangers waited a few minutes, safe behind their face masks, then entered and confirmed that all inside were unconscious. Kes and Thandi smashed a few liquor bottles against the walls, while others dragged the bodies into the main room, and distributed more ‘evidence’.
Eventually, Kes called ‘all clear’, and Kayla emerged from the building into the night, lifting her faceplate to breathe in some fresh air. She saw her fire team, Ray, Tian and Yak, heading to the vehicles to place EMP charges, and began to follow them, when a sharp rap on her helmet brought her up short.
She turned to see Thandi, vizor up, and an expectant expression on her face.
“Was that a curse word I heard earlier?” Thandi asked, keeping her voice low.
Kayla shook her head. “Negative. I was providing a biological assessment of the dude.”
“Ick. Two in the barracks were uh… in the middle of something when they passed out. I had to pull them apart.” She pulled a face. “That was gross.”
Kayla winked at her friend, who was spiritual enough for the both of them. “Unmarried, I bet. Your god approves.”
Thandi nodded gratefully, then shot her a look. “He’s not just my—"
Kes marched over, her expression severe. “Do either of you have EMP charges left?” she demanded.
“Yes Corporal,” Kayla nodded, and patted her rucksack.
“There’s a couple of transports left in the north corner. Get on it, then rejoin us on the east fence. Come on, we need to move quickly!”
Kayla scampered away, buzzing with energy. The squad still had to head for the chateau, and take up their position in the perimeter that was slowly drawing tighter around Rayker. She glanced at the dark mountains around her. In a dozen locations, radar arrays, missile defenses and communications stations were being similarly neutralized by small teams of Valkyrie from the various units. Soon they would have their prey, and Kayla privately hoped that she wouldn’t surrender.

Christie found Doctor Kolar, alone as usual, in the main hall and painfully out of place at such a large social gathering. He nursed a champagne glass, and smiled at passersby. Christie stared at him until their eyes met, and he quickly looked away, pretending to study one of Meissner’s diamond statues.
She walked in his direction, and as she passed, she flashed him a shy smile. Then, returning to her coterie of admirers, she looked back with another friendly expression.
Kolar cautiously approached the group, obviously unsure of what to do. The men ignored him, but the second he managed to breach the outer mass of bodies, Christie was on him.
“Oh hello! I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure!” she cried, extending her hand and beaming like a searchlight.
The other men frowned as they lost her attention.
“Um… All mine,” stammered Kolar. “Sorry. I’m—”
“Doctor Kolar, isn’t it?” interrupted a renowned and pompous pianist. “You’re working on space batteries for VennZech weapons research, or some such thing?”
“Well…” Kolar gulped. “We’re starting a new project on micro-singularities at the Planck scale, you see the current theory on weak—”
“It’s weak, you say?” The pianist laughed raucously as he slapped the doctor’s back. “Well, I never would have guessed, old boy.”
“Tell me, Zotty,” Christie cut in, addressing one of the other men, “Didn’t you just tell me this was one of Meissner’s inner circle?” she tottered forward slightly as she spoke.
“Correct,” the elder son and heir apparent of the largest media corporation in the League replied with a smile. He lifted his gaze from her bosom. “Doctor Kolar’s work is vital for the Maestro.”
Kolar smiled gratefully. “Indeed. Well, it’s about energy generation.”
“Oh, I hope you aren’t helping him make more of those dreadful bombs,” Christie said, and pouted. “War is very wrong! Really, I don’t know why they haven’t sanctioned the company for some of the absolutely horrid things they produce.”
The surrounding billionaires nodded their approval, while Kolar flushed. “No… well, I mustn’t talk about it, but I shouldn’t be getting involved in that side of VennZech’s business.”
“Quite right.” Christie nodded. “Oh, but you’re dry.” She turned to a waiter, grabbed a pair of glasses from his tray and handed one to Kolar.

Just moved into a rental. The living room is massive, the area I’m trying to work with is 18x23 feet with a slanted ceiling we estimate goes up about 25 feet, and is also open to the dining area (not included in said measurements). The open space is amazing but tough to work with layout-wise. On the graph paper, layout #1 is the existing layout. #2 and #3 are ideas I’m considering.
The house was being used as an Airbnb before we moved in, and we purchased a lot of the existing furniture. This includes the huge sectional pictured here and the TV that is mounted a half a mile up the wall above the mantle. The TV will not be staying there; we are waiting on a console to arrive and plan to mount a new (85”) TV on the wall above it at eye level. We will likely be getting rid of the armchair seen in these photos (the laundry chair).
The sliding glass doors on each side of the fireplace lead to our sunroom. The ones in the corner by the piano do not open. So they are basically just an ugly awkward wall. I am thinking I’ll hang curtains that match the color of the walls closely to sort of disappear those doors as much as possible. Any other ideas for that space are welcome.
The layouts shown here are the only thing I’ve been able to come up with. The concerns about both are that they render the fireplace secondary to the TV space, which would not be my first choice but I can’t figure out a way to make them dual focal points, which would be my ideal. Getting rid of the sectional is not an option, nor is a smaller television (already settled relationship negotiations and compromises).
The measurements here stop at the break in the high ceiling, right where the dining area begins. The teal dresser in the corner is being converted into a bar and will be staying where it is. It is not shown on the “blueprints.”
Whatcha got, people? Cant wait to see if you can come up with any other ideas!

Hi all, my partner and I are in the process of purchasing our first property (1960s semi-detached). We have just recieved the report back from our surveyor and obviously as first-time buyers are completely unsure if the issues that have been highlighted are normal for houses of that age, and which of these issues we should genuinely be worried about or if they are just fluff, especially the issues highlighted about the potential lack of support to the chimney structure.Do you think we should be negotiaing for any money off of our inital offer based on the issues found or are they just things to be expected when purchasing a non-new build property? Any help or advice would really be appreciated.
I have listed the L2+L3 issues below:
D1 Chimney stacks There is deterioration to the brickwork and pointing (mortar between the bricks). Repair work is required.
D2 Roof coverings The pointing (mortar between the tiles) along the ridge tiles to the apex of the roof and to the sloping ridges is worn and some ridge tiles may be loose. Pointing should berenewed.
D3 Rainwater pipes and gutters There are plants growing in gutters to the all elevations. All gutters and down pipes require cleaning. Joints should be checked and resealed as found necessary. Where relevant, gullies should be checked and cleaned.
D4 Main walls Ventilation beneath the timber ground floors is inadequate, only one air brick was seen to the front and rear and additional airbricks should be inserted. At the same time a precautionary check of floor timbers (including under floor areas) should be made as inadequate ventilation combined with dampness may have allowed rot to occur.The ground level is too high in relation to the damp proof course (dpc). The external ground level should be 150mm below the dpc. If it is not rain and snow can affect the wall above the dpc and cause dampness internally.
D8 Other joinery and finishes Fascias are timber and soffits cement asbestos. The cement asbestos soffits will contain a small quantity of asbestos fibre. It is therefore recommended that they are not worked on in any way which could release fibres. The joinery is worn. A close inspection was not possible. There is a risk of defects particularly behind gutters.
E1 Roof structure The lining felt is torn in places and requires repair. There is some daylight visible where felt is poor. It will need to be replaced within the foreseeable future. This would require taking off the roof covering.Insulation is below current standards and should be increased. Ventilation should be provided to reduce the possibility of condensation forming.
E3 Walls and partitions DampFor the most part no significant damp was found where walls could be checked. High readings were obtained to the side door in the kitchen. Some maintenance is likely to be required. High readings were obtained in the rear bedroom where the chimney breast has been removed. Some damp appears to be getting in at this point. Repairs may be required to the chimney including ensuring that it is adequately blocked. The front chimney should also be checked.
E5 Fireplaces, chimney breasts and flues Fireplaces and chimney breasts have been removed from the living rooms and bedrooms above. There is no evidence of support for the remaining structures in the roof space. If the removal has not been done properly, parts of the building may become unstable and, in the worst cases, present a safety hazard.
F1 Electricity Some visible parts of the system such as the consumer unit are dated and do not meet currentstandards. There is no evidence that the electrical system is covered by a current inspection and testing certificate. This is a potential safety hazard. You need to have a test carried out by a qualified and registered electrician.
F2 Gas/oil There is no evidence that the gas installation and fittings are covered by a current inspection and testing certificate. This is a potential safety hazard. You need to instruct Gas Safe registered engineers to inspect the system and advise you upon serviceability and necessary upgrading.
F3 Water The water was disconnected at the time of inspection. Legionella bacteria can be present in water systems that have been unused for a period of time.
F4 Heating The system is of mixed age and may not be particularly efficient or economical compared to modern systems. It needs to be checked by a specialist. The boiler was not on at the time of inspection. There is no evidence that the heating system has been checked or serviced within the last 12 months.
G1 Garage There is a single detached garage. It is constructed of brick walls, concrete floor, flat felt roof, metal up and over door and timber joinery. Christie emerged from the bathroom once her nerves had calmed and found one of the chateau’s windows that looked out on the western ridgelines. She reached into her handbag and produced a stick of lipstick, sighted on a curve of blackness intersecting a particular constellation rising into the night sky, and pushed a discreet button on the base. The task force now had confirmation that Rayker was inside the chateau and the machine would be set in motion.
As she turned to head back to the party, Christie saw a different range of mountains in the corner of her eye. A fishhook stabbed into the muscle of her heart and tugged, while she was nearly overwhelmed with nausea. For a moment, a dusty valley surrounded her, the rocky ground coursing with streams of blood. The ghostly white face of Rose Djallen was before her, life fading from her eyes. Christie wanted to gasp, but she let the pain wash over her in silence, as they had all done so often. A moment’s concentration brought her back to the present, and the dangerous operation ahead.
Rayker’s expression had been so devoid of warmth—as though she wore her psychotic nature with pride. Christie couldn’t understand how someone could be so inhuman. She wondered what would happen if Rayker sensed the trap that was closing around her. Christie knew that she, and probably some of the guests, would be taken hostage. No doubt the dozens of Rangers stalking through the darkness would break cover, racing through the night to rescue her, with one particularly hard-headed individual out front. The highly skilled operators now preparing their own move on the chateau would fight their way inside, killing anyone who resisted them. Dates: 4/22-4/24 Room booked: Deluxe King Garden Room Upgraded at check-in to a Hammock Room (thanks Alex!) submitted by ker9189 to chubbytravel [link] [comments] We were transferring from the La Quinta Resort where we stayed for Coachella and wanted to arrive early. We called the day before and informed them we would be arriving between 11am and noon. Alex also reached out to the hotel and confirmed this would be okay. We arrived around 11:45 and were able to go directly to our room. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous! Well manicured, beautiful flowers and tons of hummingbirds! Love the sand walkways in place of asphalt or cement, but could see that being a problem for individuals with mobility issues. It is pretty hard packed though. The room was beautiful. Jonathan Adler designed and decorated. If you don’t like seeing yourself in the mirror you’d probably hate the bathroom as it is made entirely of mirrors. I forgot to take pictures of the bathroom ceiling but very cool. The hammock and outdoor sofa got lots of use! The shower was massive compared to the one in our room at La Quinta and the water pressure was great. They had great bathroom amenities as well (forgot to take note of brands). Air conditioning unit is definitely dated. Couldn’t really set the temp and only mode was off or auto, it got hot at night (but I am someone who likes to keep things cold when I’m sleeping). One of the louvers on one panel of the blinds was broken and wouldn’t close completely. This didn’t end up being a problem however, my husband and I both use eye masks so if any light bothers you it would be a problem. There was a cockroach in the bathroom day 2. Called the front desk and they had someone come and remove him. I used to live in Phoenix so I understand this happens. We really enjoyed the 13+ pool. The drinks are delicious ($20 a cocktail) and so refreshing! The Chucky was definitely my favorite! We also had the chicken Caesar salad, chicken tacos and the spring roll, all were really tasty which I think can be rare for pool side food. We grabbed a drink at the lobby bar. Service was great. Husband ordered a vodka martini with a twist and said “it was good, actually really good”. Their bar snacks were lacking (but nothing will ever live up to The Dylan’s bar nuts in my book). We had breakfast credits but didn’t use the first morning because we woke up around 11am. We did not realize they serve breakfast and lunch till 4pm (not sure if the breakfast credit works that entire time though). We ate breakfast second day. It was all fantastic! And service was great. The vibe is midcentury modern, the lobby decorations are all over the place but somehow all work. The garden sculptures are also so random but also work wonderfully. We will definitely stay again next year post Coachella, it was such a lovely way to relax and unwind. Plus we totally missed out on using the Spa but went and took a peak and it looked amazing! I’m really bad at writing reviews but if you have any questions let me know and I’ll try to provide answers! We also went to Shorebird for dinner and their Cubano Sandwich was other worldly! still in shock and still processing it. I don’t have any friends or anyone I talk to outside of work so I’m using this throwaway account. Her and I had been together just over 6 years. I knew during our first date that I wanted to be with her forever. Today I came home from work and she was waiting outside our home with her father. I asked what was going on and she said she was leaving me and that all of her things had been moved out already. I asked why and she said because I had been cheating on her. She said that she had found hair in my car, women’s earrings in our home, and two different shades of foundation on my face when I’ve come home from work. It has happened in the past that she would find a hair in the bathroom that didn’t match ours, or a couple on my clothes, and we would get into an argument. But it’s been a year or more since that’s happened. I can honestly say I’ve never cheated on her. I don’t make any kind of physical contact with anyone other than her except a fist bump or hand shake at work. I keep my location turned on my phone and keep it visible to her, and have her as the alternate face to unlock my phone. That’s mostly in case something happens to me, car wreck etc. I only go to work and the gym. She said that my location shows me at apartments that are across from my gym sometimes when I say I’m at the gym. There are two women at work that I work with and I’ll mention them in stories about work, but I’m their supervisor and have always kept my relationship with them professional. I’ve never hung out with anyone I work with outside of work, and I don’t even spend my breaks with them, I just chat with them while we work. I had a few days last week where I was feeling very depressed and could barely get out of bed and had to force myself to go to work, and I snapped at her and was short tempered with her. I know it really hurt her because she has been in relationships in the past that were abusive. I’ve never gotten physical with her, never punch walls, nothing like that. I just get short and angry and I get that could be a trigger for her. I just wish that was why she was leaving me because that happened. I just don’t know how to process it. I’m still in shock and I know it’s going to hurt when I wake up. I sent her a text letting her know that I wish we could’ve tried couples therapy and that if she wants to try, just reach out to me, but that I respect her wishes either way. She just thanked me for being amicable. I have no idea what to do.

I know there is no true way to fix or balance a class to make everyone happy, but I just want to share where I think the direction of Mage should go, and share what I don't like about the current direction of Mage.
Firstly, a lot of the core mage cards need revamps. As an example, Arcane Intellect at 3 mana hurts to play. While I don't think it would break the game to have it be 2 mana, I know that would also cause issues. My solution would be to add a dredge-like option to the end of it. Sightless watcher style. 3 mana, draw 2, discover a card in your deck to place on top. Just a little extra bonus. Other examples are Shooting Star, fireball, flamestrike, and so on.
Secrets as a concept should really be re-thought. The issue is that secrets always feel bad for one player. Either the mage is very aggro/tempo and plays a secret in the early game and the opponent cries because they don't know if the board clear is going to be counterspelled, or both players are at 10 mana and the mage plays a secret and then cries when the opponent diffuses the secret easily and safely. I am not going to propose a complete fix because that gets too theoretical for what I am trying to say. However, I would like to suggest that a card I would like to see either as a secret or in the same design space as secrets; "3 mana: Freeze the next 3 minions the opponent plays".
Less "Sif-style" gameplay, more "Aegwynn" style gameplay. Taking Aegwynn out of core really upset me. I may be biased because I made the Nathria Aggro mage deck that really used Aegwynn for one of the first times. My point though is that Sif supports a boring playstyle that I call the "shopping list" playstyle. You put Sif in the deck along with its specific supporting cards that power it up to make it playable. That's not really that fun. Alternatively, Aegwynn did not receive much support but gave the support instead. You did not need to run "these specific cards" to make Aegwynn work. Yes, low cost minions are preferred, but its your choice on which 1 or 2 cost minions to actually put in your deck. If you want to complete the Sif Shopping List, you better play one of the two shadow spells in Mage.
I want to talk a bit about No Minion Mage for a minute. I think that it *sounds* cool, but once you think about it in concept, it breaks down quickly. Firstly, the "No Minion" restriction is a very strict condition, more-so than I think people realize. Not only can you not play any neutral cards (yes there are like two exceptions, but that's irrelevant), which cuts your deck selection by a ton, you also cannot play any mage minions, which further restricts the card pool. Looking at standard right now, the deck building condition brings your card selection from 319 cards to 43 cards. Of course its not quite as bad as it sounds because of the card quality of many of the neutral cards (Ancient Totem was not going to make the cut in your deck anyway probably. Stereo Totem might though!). The rewards are not nearly equal to the restriction. Summon two 3 drops? Have a better chance to randomly cast Wheel of Death? I don't think it makes sense. Compared to Pure Paladin, which could still play all of its class cards, the Pure Paladin rewards are often better, especially because they were often tied to minions. Which might I add, are fun to play. Another flaw of No Minion Mage is that most people like playing minions. So not playing minions is not that fun. As for how to fix it, I think Low Minion Mage would make more sense. Summoning minions with spells can also be fun.
Next I want to talk about the direction I would like mage minions to go. I think more minions that cast spells is a good thing. I plan to try out the new miniset card more, but I am talking more like School Teacher in general. I also truly believe in smaller spell damage amounts given to more mage minions, rather than large spell damage amounts given to one or two minions. To go along with that, I think that spell damage should effect more spells in fun ways. Having it be more like "Spell Power+1" would make more sense. That's probably a pipe dream, but it could make lots of cards more interesting. I also think that there should be some elementals that count as "spells" for the purposes of certain cards, that would be interesting.
I have other ideas but those are just concepts that are irrelevant to what I am trying to say. This was a very long write-up, but that is because I actually enjoy the flavor of the mage class and would like it to be good again without making everyone want to tear out their hair when playing against it (like when Sif is good).
To summarize; update old spells, re-think secrets, no minion mage is a poor concept, more minions that make spells better and spells that can get better from playing minions. Thank you for coming to my ted-talk, feel free to flame in comments.

Firstly, a lot of the core mage cards need revamps. As an example, Arcane Intellect at 3 mana hurts to play. While I don't think it would break the game to have it be 2 mana, I know that would also cause issues. My solution would be to add a dredge-like option to the end of it. Sightless watcher style. 3 mana, draw 2, discover a card in your deck to place on top. Just a little extra bonus. Other examples are Shooting Star, fireball, flamestrike, and so on.
