Part 72 Gene mods (Part 1) (Part 71)
[Support me on Ko-fi so I can get some character commissions done and totally not buy more Gundams]
“Alright, calm down. It's really not that serious.” Though the holographic representation of War Chief Neshkaname, complete with ocean blue eyes and linear facial tattoos on his tan face, looked quite noticeably tired, his overall demeanor seemed fairly positive. “I just got out of a meeting with representatives from the different protesting groups and all of them agree with the general idea of what we're trying to do with our united defense fleet. There's just quite a bit of disagreement about how our Confederacy should approach the questions related to Earth, Mars, and everyone in Sol.”
“What kind of questions are we talking about here?” General Robert Andrews, the now former General of the US Army, was the first to speak up amongst the crowd of military leaders. “Nothing about invading Earth, I hope.”
“Well…” Though Rob was only half serious about his comment concerning Earth, the way the commanding officer of the Nishnabe Militia’s Blue Fleet began his response put a genuinely concerned expression on a few faces from Sol. “It's only a small percent of our population who are calling for war to reclaim land. A few million people at most, none of whom hold any positions of leadership in our military. Luckily, there are far more people calling for boycotts, embargoes, or blockades as opposed to anything direct.”
“War Chief, to many governments on Earth, an embargo, and especially a blockade, would be considered akin to a direct declaration of war.” General Renee Descartes, the former Chief of Defense Staff of France and Second in Command of the European Union's Unified Military, despite the dark bags under her eyes implying she hadn't gotten anywhere near enough sleep before this meeting, retained her rather elegant poise when adding that bit of necessary context. “You see, the economy of Earth is highly reliant on importing raw materials from space. With the climate being as delicate as it is, no one is willing to risk the kinds of planetside resource harvesting necessary to keep the thirteen billion people in the Earth’s Sphere of Influence employed, fed, and happy. More importantly, we are starting to run out of easily accessible mineral deposits in space.”
“Yes, the lunar mines and the near-Earth asteroid colonies still under UN-E control simply aren't producing nearly enough material to meet growing demand.” Admiral Nathaniel Adeoye, who had also given up his position as the Chief of Astral Naval Staff of the African Federation, chimed in with a clearly worried tone in his deep voice. “While I can understand the rage some of your people must feel, especially towards Americans, the many different people of Africa were in no way responsible for the colonization of America. In fact, we were subject to colonialism ourselves.”
“At least y'all still got yahr homelands!” Commandant General Daniel Chasinghorse, the former Commander of the entirety of MarsGov's Void-Marine Corps, didn't mean for his statement directed at Adeoye to sound as vitriolic as it did. However, the idea of him, his Lakota people, and all the displaced Native American Nations who were now mostly living in space or on Mars potentially being included in the Nishnabe’s reasonably negative reaction towards the people of Earth had put him on edge. “Sorry for snappin’ at yah like that, Nate. But the people livin’ on Mars ain't nothin’ done to deserve bein’ restricted by an embargo or blockade. We need all the extra-Solar tech we can get if we're gonna keep our population's health from declining even further. And I’m sure the African Lunar colonies could really use that medical and gravity tech too!”
“Nothing's been decided yet, and most people on Shkegpewen want peace, we just haven't reached a consensus on how that peace will look.” War Chief Msko Pkwenech, the commander of the Nishnabe Militia’s Red Fleet, interjected while making an open gesture with his hands to try to pat down the tension building up in this meeting room. “And if helps at all, we did take quite a few public votes concerning technology sharing for things we consider essential. But Maser probably has quicker access to the results than I would.”
“About ninety percent of respondents voted to immediately authorize and start sending out medical and gravity tech, including a production ship to come out and make things in-system, which is well above the seventy-five percent consensus needed to move forward.” As soon as the Light-born AI holographically representing their consciousness as an androgynous human began to speak in an incredibly soothing tone, the stress levels in the room began to fall. “There are currently a few councils debating the finer details and arranging logistics of what will be sent. However, the specifics of who gets what and when they get it will be negotiated between the respective governments in Sol and the Nishnabe Intergovernmental Council. Our job as the United Human Defense Fleet is not to interfere with diplomacy between nations, just to ensure that diplomacy is handled in a reasonable and non-threatening manner. Now, with that said, the vote to provide essential assistance was just one if a few taken over the last couple weeks. And while that poll was overwhelming and definitive, the ones concerning visas, immigration, galactic trade, and interspecies relations all fell below the consensus threshold for the Confederacy to adopt an official policy. When we say embargoes and blockades, we are purely referring to trade interactions between species, not between humanity and your economic exclusive zone. Once the relevant councils develop updated options for people to vote on, the next vote will be held.”
“An’ how long's all that gonna take?” Commandant Admiral Carol Nez, as the former head of MarsGov’s Astral Intelligence Collective and Councilmember in the Navajo Nation of Mars, was keenly aware of both the pressing urge of many on the red planet to live on a world with a breathable atmosphere and how just long it often took to for Native Nations to build a consensus. “Everaday we got at least a thousand babies born in Martian maternity stations an’ at least thirty percent ‘ave some kinda health issues. The sooner we get y'all's medical tech, the more kids that're gonna grow up to be happy an’ healthy!”
“We are well aware of the negative health implications of trying to raise children in low-gravity.” Msko already had his tablet out and was in the process of sending over the relevant information to his counterparts from Earth and Mars. “Our genetic modification technologies require individualized sequencing but they can be applied before or after birth to correct any serious issues. They can even be used well into adulthood. I got my eye color changed when I became an adult, so we can help anyone who hasn’t already gotten cybernetic replacements for affected body parts. All of our ships still in Sol are actively trying to produce as much of the base materials as they can and are working with doctors from your stations to get everything deployed as quickly as possible.”
“Why don’cha just teach our docs how to do it?” As soon as Carol got the question out, Msko and Nesh shot each other cautious glances before they both looked towards Maser.
“Well, Commandant Admiral Nez…” As soon as the hologram of the AI began to speak, it was clear their words were directed at everyone present from Sol. “To be completely blunt with all of you, we have reason to believe that the moment people from either Mars or Earth got full access to the genetic manipulation technology the Nishnabe utilize, someone would begin conducting experiments to turn humans into living weapons even more dangerous than the cybernetic ones you already produce. The cybernetics sported by many of your civilians would be legally considered military-grade combat modifications, and individuals with those cybernetics would be barred from entering many GCC standard space stations. We know there are doctors within both UN-E and MarsGov already working on projects to modify your species genome to produce what you call super soldiers, which something which is generally highly illegal under GCC laws. In fact, the genetic manipulation done to Sarah and Johnathan McAfree would likely be considered combat adjacent modifications according to GCC standards, and they would also be subject to various limitations due to their enhanced physiology.”
“Hey, now! Spooky an’ ‘er brother ain’t that scary!” Though he had been spending most of this meeting quietly sitting in his corner of the round table and trying to stay out of things he considered to be beyond his expertise, Professor Mikhail T. River felt compelled to say something now that his ex and her brother had been brought up. “Sure, she can bench press me. An’ Johnny can pick up the stove to sweep under it. But that ain't the gnarliest I ever seen! I mean, jus’ look at Comandante Harrison over here!”
/----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While the members of the United Human Defense Fleet Council were in their meeting and discussing the rumors of Nishnabe protests Sarah had also caught wind of, that was far above her paygrade. Despite a tinge of concern fluttering away in the back of the unusually tall and rather athletically built Scotswoman’s mind, she wasn't worried about the things she had no control over. At the moment, she, her rather short and somewhat pudgy mother, and her colossal but cognitively limited brother were relaxing in the stables of the opulent nature area aboard UHDF DS-1 and spending time with the unicorn-like kaehi'xito that Mik had gifted to them. Though the three gingers were each busy with different things most of the day, Donna and Johnny with their Nishnabemwin and remote job training courses while Sarah performed her role as an intelligence analyst, the small family from Glasgow truly cherished this time they got to spend together. And the fact they were bonding with the closest living creatures in the galaxy to unicorns only made this even better for all of them.
“Hey Sarah! There you are!” As soon as Miakorva's voice called out from the entrance to the stable building, Sarah, her family, and the three unicorn-like creatures turned to see the Qui’ztar approaching them with familiar canine at her side. “And look who I found wandering around the ship! Did you know that Mikhail lets her walk around unsupervised?”
“Hiya Mia!” Being the closest to the entrance, Johnny was the first to greet the lanky and seemingly muscular blue woman before he crouched down low and extended a hand towards the Cane Corso. “An’ Micky lets her roam cuz she's a good girlie. Isn't tha’ righ’, Terry?”
“Terry Good dog!” Terry’s soft but deep whine was translated by her collar while she approached the man with her tail vigorously wagging.
“Terry's a trained station guard dog, Mia.” Sarah added while shooting the Qui’ztar intelligence officer a cheeky wink and coy smile. “It's ‘er job to wander a station, ‘r in this case a ship, an’ be on the lookout for trouble. An’ now that she can talk, she's a perfect workin’ animal. But wha’s up? Were yah lookin’ for me?”
“Oh, yes. Yes, I was. But… uh…” Mia paused for a moment as she watched the massive beast of a dog place her paws on Johnny's shoulders and begin licking the man's face as if he had smothered some kind of invisible but quite tasty treat across his skin. “Isn’t there a concern that Terry may… Well… Hurt someone? Her species are non-sapient apex predators with strong hunting instincts, correct?”
“Tha's why she and most other workin’ dogs ‘re so well trained, love.” Donna replied with a giggle, the adorable display of affection between her son and Mik's dog forcing a massive smile across her freckled and slightly wrinkled face. “There's always a bit o’ risk with dogs, especially the biggins like Terry ‘ere. But if these unicorns aren't freakin’ out cuz o’ ‘er, then we don’ gotta be worried.”
“Kaehi'xito didn’t evolve with canine predators, so they likely don't even recognize her as a potential threat.” As Mia watched the beast of a dog lean more of her weight on to Johnny, she half expected the large and well-built man to fall over from the force. However, much to her surprise, the man stopped his energetic scratching on Terry's sides, wrapped his arms around her waist, and effortlessly lifted the gargantuan animal into the air, all the while it continued to lick his face. “But seeing you carry that creature like a baby would be enough to make almost anyone with caniphobia be cautiously curious about these creatures. And they must not be as heavy as they look if you can pick one up so easily.”
“Oh, Terry’s a thickin! At least fifteen stone!” In a motion that seemed in utter opposition to Johnny's comment, the man half-tossed the Cane Corso into the air so that he could reposition his hands to cradle the massive canine as if she were a literal baby. “But she's still a good lil pupper, ain't yah, Terry?”
“Terry, good baby!” Though Terry hadn't started flailing or showing any obvious signs of discomfort, she suddenly turned her head towards Sarah with a longing look in her golden eyes. “Pack-mother cuddle?”
“Yeah, sure, yah big ol’ lunk.”
Though Mia could believe a man as impressively large as Johnny may not have much difficulty in lifting a hundred kilo canine, she was completely flabbergasted by Sarah's ability to simply pull Terry from Johnny's grasp and continue to hold the animal up without even the slightest indication of strain. Not only had she just gotten confirmation that this creature was just as heavy as she thought, Miakorva was now being faced with the fact that the woman she had been cuddling with a night for quite some time was significantly stronger than she had realized. According to all the interspecies education she had received, which may have been slightly biased by the Qui’ztar professor teaching the courses, her own species had the highest ratio of strength to body mass of any Ascended species. And while she was aware that this woman she had formed a relationship with weighed about the same as she did despite being several centimeters shorter, Mia had yet to witness Sarah's capabilities demonstrated in such a casual manner.
“By the Matriarch, Sarah!” The lanky blue woman couldn't help herself as her bioluminescent freckles lit up at the shocking display of strength. “How are you that strong?!?”
“Gene mods.” Though Sarah didn't hesitate in her answer, she did wince slightly as she did so. “Me muscles’re almost twice as dense as the average human's. Tha's actually somethin’ I had to talk to Maser an’ NAN abou’ the other day. ‘Parently tha’ ain't a thing most species do for some reason. Bu’ I'm pre’y sure we talked abou’ tha’ already.”
“You did mention it but… Well… I didn't realize your people's genetic engineering was that sophisticated. But I guess that does confirm a couple of the rumors I've heard that I was going to ask you about.”
“Wha’ rumors?” Donna blurted out with a bit too defensive of a tone as her eyes fell upon her son who had gone back to brushing his vaguely moose-like unicorn. “An’ who's spreadin’ ‘em?”
“Well…” Mia hesitated for a moment, causing the two Scotswomen to shoot her suspicious looks. “I was assisting with the logistical planning with the Nishnabe in charge of the distribution of medicine to people on Earth and Mars, most of which involved genetic modification serums. And when I asked why there was no plan, or even consideration, of passing on the technology so it could be locally produced, the people I was working with told me there were rumors of… Well… My people would call it Qui'kijarto niko'txo, which would roughly translate to an enhanced soldier project.”
“Yahr people tried to make super soldiers, too?” Sarah asked with a laugh that implied a sense of relief.
“No!” The instant denial caused Sarah to cease her laughter and forced a slight frown on her rather pale and freckled face. “As soon as my people began developing genetic engineering almost thirty thousand years ago, our government and scientific community came together to completely outlaw any attempts to enhance our form in a way that would make us even deadlier in combat. Besides that, even after thirty thousand years of research, we have only recently mastered the ability to stabilize our genetics and guard against speciation due to diverse environmental conditions.”
“Yah really tryin to tell us yahr people never tried to improve themselves?” The older Scotswoman chimed in with a clearly doubtful expression. “No one ever tried to give their kids an advantage in life? Super soldiers experiments ain't the only thing we use gene modding for.”
“Well… No… I don’t believe we ever have.” Mia hadn't really put much thought into it, even when she and Sarah had talked about it before. But now she was starting to realize that an attempt to give a child an advantage in life by increasing their physical capabilities could directly translate to turning that child into an ideal soldier. “As far as I know, very few other species have engaged in that form of genetic modification. And the ones who have tried struggled to produce anything truly successful.”
“Gene mods ain't always successful, Mia.” Johnny didn't bother to look away from the unicorn he was brushing as he made the comment lest he see the sadness that suddenly appeared in his mother's eyes. “Bu’ I learned the other day tha’ Nishnabe gene tech is way better than wha’ we got on Earth. Maybe they'll ‘ave some stuff to teach us after they feel we're trustworthy enough to learn it.”

2024.05.15 19:22 SeanHagen Upgrading battery capacity on UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

Hey all, I made a post about this a couple of days ago, and I just realized that the body of text didn't post correctly for some reason, hence the lack of responses haha.
It was a long post and I'll be happy to fill in the details or answer any questions, but the TLDR is that a friend gave me this APC Back-UPS 450 because the battery was dead. I'm wondering if, rather than replacing the stock 12V 5Ah battery, if I can instead use a 12V 35Ah battery. I'm just getting into electronics, so I don't have a ton of experience or knowledge. But I have a 3D printer and lots of electronic parts, and I intend to print a new case for the UPS's electronic components, complete with heatsinks, cooling fans, and adequate venting in order to mitigate any issues that may arise from the extended runtime that will be incurred, beyond the runtime for which the unit was designed.
Will this be enough to address all of the potential issues, or are there other considerations that I'm missing? Will the charger still perform as expected with this larger battery, etc.? Thank you very much for any advice! I'll refrain from adding all the bells & whistles to this post so that the text body hopefully posts this time, but here is the link to my unit: https://www.apc.com/us/en/product/BN450M/apc-backups-450va-120v-6-nema-outlets-2-surge-battery-is-not-user-replaceable/
And the batteries are lead-acid batteries that are common to these "disposable" UPS units. Here is the larger one that I plan on using, and the original stock replacement battery is just a smaller 5Ah version of this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K8E0WAG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

2024.05.15 19:20 Successful-Act4779 Learning How to Be Handy As A Very Not Handy Person

My friends and I feel pretty dumb when it comes to basic repairs/maintenance around the house. Some of the things we wished we could do well are turning on and off the sprinkler system each season, basic drywall repair, hang curtains and blinds, wash windows, basic plumbing repair, change out a light switch, inspect the furnace and AC unit.
We're teaming up and hiring a professional technician to come teach us how to do these things in a group setting over the Summer. Instead of the technician just coming to the house and doing the job for us we're going to pay them extra to explain what they're doing along the way and answer our questions.
What kind of things would you want to learn how to do?

2024.05.15 19:16 Grand_Ad9783 FINALLY GOT APPROVED FOR TREATMENT! Would you say this is a good price per session? And any ways I can get it lower? (United HealthCare)

Long story short, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy a few years ago and after a long battle I got approval from my neurologist & psychiatrist to start the treatment!
I have United Healthcare and each session with cost about $200 (including my co-pay as noted below). Would you say this is a pretty decent price? And do you think I'd have a shot with calling UHC to try getting them to cover some of it?
I was sent all of my paperwork this morning, along with a sheet that goes over what to expect with the treatment, the cost per session, etc. I have been researching Ketamine Therapy for over a year and would have been curious to see this, so I've included it below for anyone who cares!
" We like to inform anyone interested in receiving treatments on what to expect and what is required. Please read over the information regarding cost, time, and requirements for receiving ketamine treatments. 1. It is required that ALL patients be observed in our office for a minimum of 1 hour for each treatment. The following treatment requirements for the first eight weeks are as follows." Weeks 1-4: twice weekly Weeks 5-8: once weekly * After week eight, treatments can continue weekly or bi-weekly; this will depend on how the patient responds to the treatment. 2. You MUST have a driver to pick you up and sign you out before you can be discharged from our clinic on treatment days. If you will be using a driving service like Uber, Lyft, Yellow Cab, etc., we will need to document your booking numbeconfirmation before discharging. * Please note patients cannot drive until a whole night's rest on treatment days. 3. Your insurance may NOT cover the 2-hour observation time. Our office is working diligently to get the observation codes covered by all insurance plans. Currently, Magellan and United Healthcare DO NOT cover the 2-hour observation time. If your insurance does not cover it, the cost for the 2-hour observation time is $150 per treatment visit in addition to your copay or deductible for your office visit with the provider. If you are uninsured or if we do not accept your insurance, the total treatment (appointment and 2-hour observation time) cost can range from $275.00 - $300.00 per treatment visit, depending on the complexity of your visit with the provider. We can also provide a receipt including CPT codes, diagnosis codes, and service dates to file with your insurance company. 4. Ketamine can increase blood pressure and heart rate, so patients CANNOT take any stimulants, benzodiazepines, or sedative-hypnotics the day of treatment. Any further questions regarding this can be answered once you are seen for your appointment. Patients are drug-screened before initial visit and then randomly throughout following treatments (an additional $15 is not covered by insurance). Thank you for your time in reading the above information. If you agree with the above requirements, including cost, please complete the attached forms and return them to me at your earliest convenience. Once received, I can contact you to schedule an appointment with one of our providers. The purpose of this appointment is to make sure you're a perfect candidate for Ketamine, as there can be certain medical conditions or past medical history that can exclude you from receiving Ketamine injection treatments. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. "

2024.05.15 19:14 BrilliantPlatypus94 Large 1BR/1BA in Woodley/Cleveland Park for $1975 (building gym, top floor, rent control + other amenities!) available 6/8

Craigslist post here with pictures: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/apa/d/washington-spacious-1br-incredible/7747199694.html
I am looking for someone to take over my lease starting June 8th. I’m graduating and have to move, otherwise I would never leave this incredible apartment. I have lived here for three years and it is truly a perfect home in DC.
It is a spacious 1-bedroom, 1 bath with three massive closets and an updated kitchen with in-unit dishwasher. The apartment is perfectly situated and is always full of light. You have a picture-perfect view of the Washington monument from the living room and the kitchen (the sunset pictures in the gallery are pictures I took from the kitchen window). The apartment has beautiful hardwood floors and huge windows in every room. It is also a **rent controlled** building, capping the amount your rent can be raised each year.
The unit is on the top floor—you’ll never hear footsteps or upstairs neighbors. Very solid construction building, I’ve never heard my next door neighbors.
The building has tons of great amenities: You have access to a full gym (for no extra cost), a dog park, a community room that can be rented for parties or get-togethers, and a beautiful roof deck that offers sweeping views of DC. Since the apartment is on the top floor, the roof deck is only a small flight of stairs away, making it feel like your own private roof. There is a large laundry room in the building and the building’s elevators make it easy to access (no hauling baskets up & down stairs!). The building also has package lockers that ensure you’ll never have another stolen package. There is a BBQ/picnic area with giant barbeque grills for use.
The building is a 7-minute walk from the Red Line (Woodley Park station) and is close to Dupont Circle, Cleveland Park, and a short walk from the Adam’s Morgan nightlife. Walking distance to the Zoo as well! It is the perfect combination of a quiet, peaceful apartment that is close to everything DC has to offer.
The building has parking spots for an additional monthly fee, but there is easy residential zoned parking behind the building. I’ve never had trouble finding a space. Pets are allowed for an additional fee (I believe $500 deposit + $35/month for cats, $50 a month for dogs).
Watetrash/gas paid for by building, tenant is responsible for cable + electric.
Please reach out if you are interested and I can answer any questions you may have, and will connect you with my building management. It is a one of a kind spot.

2024.05.15 19:10 1sstudent Some Questions & An Answer Or Two

Question: Where in hades are the $80 Million worth of Government of Canada funded grants which are to be provided for NanoXplore?

ANSWER: Likely only to be disbursed as each business aspect of the NanoXplore five year strategic business development investment plan is necessarily firmed up by prerequisite long term commitments for NanoXplore being provided by necessarily offtake purchase agreement issuing and concurrent capital provisioning agreement customers/partners.

The Canadian Federal Government would be paying as NanoXplore goes, so to speak, and reimbursing NanoXplore for expenditures incurred along the prerequisite development of each business aspect relating to NanoXplore's five year strategic business development investment plan.

QUESTION: Where are the offtake agreements making possible the provisioning of a "Go" Final Investment Decision or "Go FID", with respect to the thereafter immediate commencement of that 16,000 tpa graphene manufacturing and graphene enhanced battery anode component materials process manufacturing facility?

Answer: Presently still negotiating potential customers are aurging NanoXplore officers and directors to expedite the building out of the proposed graphene enhanced battery anode component materials and "SiGTM" anode additive material manufacturing component to the five year strategic business development investment plan.

Apparently, NanoXplore management let it be clearly known that there is a great need on the part of such presently still negotiating with NanoXplore battery cells manufacturers to as quickly as humanly possible purchase enough of NanoXplore's proprietary "BAM" solutions, so as to allow the specific automotive manufacturer customers of such battery cells manufacturers to regain eligibility for U.S. "IRA" supported battery-electric powered vehicles customers purchase subsidies.

Hmm? Which U.S. situated automotive manufacturer recently lost and/or stands to lose eligibility under the U.S. "IRA" relating regulations for said purchase subsidies and which battery cells manufacturers and partners are known to be supplying such very needy U.S. situated automotive manufacturers?

The answer to such a question would provide you with a good idea of which battery cells manufacturer (s) are urging NanoXplore to build out the company's proposed capacity manufacturing of it's various proprietary "BAM" solutions.

QUESTION: Where in hades is that NanoXplore management long promoted and seemingly nowhere near realized as duly consummated "commercial agreement" amongst NanoXplore and that globally well recognized chemicals company?

It's been closer to a fiscal year since Mr. Soroush Nazarpour touted, during that quarterly financials conderence call, the negotiating of said agreement with a certain company which I had long ago (circa 2019) referred to as being "The Industrial Titan".

ANSWER: Apparently, said prospective commercial agreement intering into and globally recognized chemical corporation, the very company which I long ago dubbed "The Industrial Titan", is not yet prepared to fully and finally consummate with NanoXplore such a long touted and yet simply not yet materialized "commercial agreement".

Although, I will once again point out the following information.

It's widely known that NanoXplore proprietary "Graphene BlackTM" is already certified with Ford Motor Company and it's wholly owned subsidiary entity for use as a fist conductive filler comprising highly conductive electrical pathways within plastic material.

See "Running Board Activated Vehicle Powered Closure Member Systems"

Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLC, Dearborn MI, (US).

United States Patent, Salter et al.

Patent No.: 11,781,369 B2

Date of Patent: October 10, 2023

Two Part Question: Is everything to do with that additional 8,000 tpa capacity production of NanoXplore's proprietary "dry process" manufactured graphene at that proposed 16,000 tpa capacity facility (8,00 tpa graphene and 8,000 tpa graphene enhanced battery materials) dependent on "the industrial titan" chemical company actually first entering into that long touted and not as yet finally consummated "commercial agreement" with NanoXplore; and if so, is that as yet unnamed "industrial titan" the number two largest chemicals company, America's Dow Inc., or would it be BASF, the world's largest chemicals company?

ANSWER: In my opinion yes, as there is a majority of the proposed as "dry process" manufactured and relatively "less refined" graphene material product which is apparently reserved and slated to be supplied to a very large scale industrial graphene enhanced products manufacturer and NanoXplore commercial agreement entering into customer. Again, that would be the majority of any "dry process" manufactured and relatively "less refined" graphene material is going to be required by just one NanoXplore commercial agreement entering into customer; and the better portion of the $80 Million in expected Government of Canada capital grants are likely going to be disbursed when such a prospective customer fully and finally consummates the commercial agreement in question with NanoXplore.

Question: Is it widely known that NanoXplore proprietary "Graphene BlackTM" is already certified with Ford Motor Company and it's wholly owned subsidiary entity for use as a first conductive filler comprising highly conductive electrical pathways within prorprietary plastic material.

ANSWER: Simply refer to the previously provided Ford Global Technologies, LLC (US) relating patent while finding out. I had previously spoken at some length to this particular development.

Do you know just how many other certified for use graphene enhanced products Ford Motor company is gong to be employing NanoXplore's proprietary graphene in the proprietary manufacturing ofWhat's more, would Ford Global Technologies, LLC (US) representatives be thinking about purchasing and folding a particular portion of NanoXplore (e.g. XG Sciences Inc) into Ford Motor Company operations in due course?RE:RE:Some Questions & And Answer Or Two

Big future for SLOTH—Elliott Waves show the path.
Over the past few days, I have been giving market comments and chart analysis for SLOTH in various posts. I explained that markets move up in five waves and then down in three. I drew diagrams showing the waves up from the very bottom of 0.006, after the big down trend post-launch. We had reached the top of wave three and were trading around 0.03, when I proposed that wave five could take the market to perhaps 13 cents. In one reply, the question was raised what happens after wave five? I answered, and we saw the result last night. A big correction. Now, I couldn’t know exactly when this would happen, at which level of wave five, but gave some possibilities from Fibonacci analysis. One of those levels was hit yesterday in the 5 cent area, and the market started correcting. Initially this seemed to be fairly mild, and I had an idea for explanation, which turned out wrong, because later the market plunged even further. This morning it became clear that wave five had been completed and we were in the major correction, I had proposed. It was a picture perfect correction. Textbook, as they say. It retraced the market by almost exactly 61.8% on the logarithmic scale, which is a standard amount in this situation. The five waves up comprise a new wave 1, and the correction is wave 2, and the cycle repeats in one higher degree of waves. That is the nature of all traded markets, and in fact it is the nature of human progress. Sloth is now trading in wave three, the most powerful of all waves. What is the potential for this wave? Elliott Wave theory also has an answer. It is the 1.618 multiple of the size of wave one. The Golden Ratio. Like all beautiful things. Using standard Fibonacci tools, we can draw a ladder of price levels of potential targets. The punch line is that the 1.618 level points to the ONE DOLLAR region. One dollar SLOTH. No one can guarantee that of course, who knows what might happen tomorrow even. But the potential is right there in the chart. I call this the Genesis wave of a new market, its first wave, for it sets a unit of measurement for the near future. Luckily, we seem to have great support from the broader crypto market right now. BTC is up big today, and Solana, our native currency, follows suit. This should provide nice power for SLOTH as well. And look how nicely it is already recovering from the night. The power of the third wave.

2024.05.15 18:25 m756615 Starting a new MSTR Experiment

Printing money isn't only for governments and banks. This strategy mimics how $MSTR / MicroStrategy invests in #Bitcoin but I am doing it with $MSTR stock instead.
In case you're not aware, fractional reserve lending in the United States has been reduced to 0% since the covid crash in 2020. This 0% rate allowed banks to lend out 100% of the deposits in the bank to other people. The effect of this is that the banks were able to print money, not physically but digitally. This digital printing is what has caused inflation, especially combined with our government spending over the same time frame.
This was initially extremely helpful to banks and even trickled down to the consumers. However, once the Federal Reserve started to increase rates, this had a negative impact on the consumer and the economy as we all have seen the rising inflation and everything else. And while the consumers and the economy have suffered a great deal, the banks are still reaping the benefit of a 0% fractional reserve lending rate.
So what can we do? How can we still benefit?
The answer is to print our own money just like the banks.
How do we do this?
By massively leveraging the offers the banks are still authorizing.
Balance transfers. Banks have been and continue to offer balance transfers with 0% APR for a nominal one-time fee of 3% or 5%. The offers do depend on your financial history and your credit worthiness as an individual, but they are available nonetheless. Are you able to take a loan for one time 5% charge and invest that money to make more than 5% over 12, 18 or even 21 months? That's right, you are.
When used properly, debt makes inflation work in your favor.
Recently, I am started a new experiment. Having been inspired by saylor's strategic plan for MicroStrategy, the plan is to leverage OPM via unsecured credit card debt (0% interest balance transfers to my checking account) to place leveraged purchases of $MSTR stock (and possibly #Bitcoin).
If $MSTR stock moves up more than 5% over the next 12 months this will have been a successful experiment. If the stock moves up 10% in the next 12 months this will have been very successful and if the stock increases by more than 20%. I will deem this a catastrophic success having used $0 of my own money.
Not only is it getting harder for the federalreserve to cut interest rates, but many more banks are being pushed to the brink of collapse.
Right now, I have about $40k wrapped up in leveraged $MSTR stock in my #MSTRexperiment, but I am also keeping some additional "raised" capital on the sidelines just in case there is a flash crash in the overall market. Want to be ready for those rare buying opportunities.
I have put exactly zero of my own money into this strategy as of yet. Once I start making monthly payments in June, I will add an ROI tracker for this #MSTRexperiment. The money hasn't even fully transferred to the CC's yet.
I am max'd out for Balance Transfers on 4 CCs for now:

2024.05.15 18:00 Fickle_CommonPie My Experience with Insurance Approval for Medical Grade Wig

For those of you that are wondering if you can get insurance to cover an expensive wig, it is possible. I had a $4,700 piece covered. You just have to really talk to the right people. After about 60 days, my claim is FINALY done. I have UHC. Here are the steps I followed in my case. Of course everyone's case is different. Here's what I did in my case:
  1. Called insurance and asked a few times if they covered a wig. I kept getting the answer "wigs are only covered up to $350". My first problem was calling a "wig". Don't do that. Find out the CPT code for "Cranial Prosthesis".
  2. I did some research and found out my doctor can write me an Rx for a "cranial prosthesis" be sure the doctor doesn't call it a wig on the Rx. See below the info included on the Rx.
DME: Cranial Prosthesis (not "wig") CPT: D5924 ( in my case) Diagnosis Code
  3. I submited the Rx to insurance to get a prior authorization. You can submit yourself for out-network providers. Most providers that do custom units will be out-of- network.
  4. I found the correct form for gap insurance approval and reached out to my insurance to process an approval for gap insurance on my cranial prosthesis. This helped insure the claim was processed in-network.
  5. I searched for providers that hold an NPI and create custom units. I used Heavenly Tresses and purchased a custom cranial prosthesis that is used for people with total hair loss. This part is very important because you'll want to purchase one that is very specific for people with total hair loss and have a medical need and cannot be used with the absence of a medical need.
**"Heavenly Tresses" has customizable options for people that have a medical need for this type of unit "cranial prosthesis".
  1. Once I purchased my cranial prosthesis, I reached out for a "medical bill of sale". This part is important because you'll want to use a provider that can provide a "medical bill of sale". I would recommend reaching out to the provider you choose and making sure they are able to write a medical bill of sale.
  2. I submitted the medical bill of sale to my insurance for reimbursement. I called my insurance and asked for a supervisor to help make sure the claim was processed correctly. Speaking to a supervisor or two a long the way helped because many agents didn't know the cranial prosthesis could be fully covered.
  3. The first time, my claim was "partially approved" because the processor didn't include my gap approval.
  4. I called and spoke to an agent to look at my case notes and have the supervisor I was working with make sure my gap insurance was added to my claim.
  5. My claim was FULLY approved and I am finally getting my reimbursement for the $4700 I spent on the cranial prosthesis.

2024.05.15 17:36 Advanced-Stand-2771 Insight.

Qualified for a 18x Contract, have been trying to get recruited since December had to jump through a lot of hoops for Medical Waivers. Former College Football and Graduate, had a two shoulder surgery’s and been cleared for both & additionally had to get a Pysc waiver for ADHD from a child until I was 18. Good thing that helped me was I stopped all medication at 18, I’m currently 25 now. Reason I’m making this post, just got word from higher ups at HQ that my contract is depending on being approved for a ETP. Been told it’s going to be 4-6 weeks coming from SF. My Recruiter is now trying to push me to go for an Option 40 contract and getting picked up at basic to get to the GB pipeline. (Which from what I’ve been told doesn’t happen) you either go to Ranger BAT and become a Ranger. Or you attempt to go 18x for SFAS or put a packet in once you get to your unit. I have nothing ill towards being a Ranger but I’ve had this goal in mind to get to selection for a while & don’t want to deter from it.
Any thoughts and options from former guys would be helpful and I’m willing to answer any questions that are worth a fuck.

2024.05.15 17:36 Specialist-Bag8043 Space expert reveals Guinness World Records of the universe

Guinness World Records has been expanded by a space expert in order to showcase some incredible statistics found throughout the rest of the cosmos. In a new video this week, British scientist and BBC TV broadcaster Brian Cox says, "If there was a Guinness World Records 'Universe' book, the records would be remarkable." Cox quickly moves through an extensive list of exciting space-based records, starting with "the most enormous compact object," a supermassive black hole, a picture of which was taken by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope three years ago. The so-called M87 galaxy, which is six billion times more massive than the sun and is located 55 million light-years from Earth. In addition to numerous records, Cox unveils the universe's fastest object as well as its biggest structure and smallest object. The scientist identified Glass-z13 as the farthest distant verified galaxy when asked. "The light's journey from it to the telescope took around 13.4 billion years. We are examining the galaxy as it might have been 200 million or 300 million years after the Big Bang. Glass-z13 has a distance from Earth of little over 33 billion light-years due to the expansion of the universe. The James Webb Space Telescope, the largest telescope of its sort ever constructed, made the discovery of the far-off galaxy. The Webb telescope has been conducting research into deep space and sending stunning images back to Earth since its deployment earlier this year. As Cox points out, recordings of the universe are subject to perpetual change as astronomers and scientists make new discoveries all the time using more potent tools like the Webb telescope.
What reionized the Universe, and when?
When did the transparency of the universe begin? It's a strange but crucial question. The Universe was once opaque, but over time it changed to transparency and is still transparent now. It is literally the reason we can see far-off objects in the sky, and in a more existential sense, that instant of cosmic transparency had an impact on the behaviour of galaxies, the formation of stars, and other things. Answering the question is something that many astronomers want to do because it has significant ramifications for the objects we want to study and because we are here because of it. Astronomers from several countries may have discovered the solution to the puzzle: 12.7 billion years ago, roughly 1.1 billion years after the Big Bang. The fact that this is a few hundred million years later than previous calculations has some intriguing ramifications. Our entire Universe was in a hot, dense condition and all of its matter was ionised immediately after the Big Bang, like minutes after it: Any hydrogen or helium nuclei were free of any electron bonds. When an electron attempted to move, a photon, a particle of light, would strike it and cause it to fall. At the time, all of the light was incredibly high-energy and more than capable of maintaining the ionisation of the environment. As matter is so dense, if you were in this miasma, which in a sense you were since everything in the Universe was, it would appear absolutely opaque to you. An ionisation timeline Gas was cold and neutral in the early Universe (on the left), but as time goes on (on the right), radiation from stars and active black holes rips electrons off hydrogen atoms, illuminating the gas. An ionisation timeline Gas was cold and neutral in the early Universe (on the left), but as time goes on (on the right), radiation from stars and active black holes rips electrons off hydrogen atoms, illuminating the gas. The time interval is roughly one billion years from left to right. Thesan Collaboration, in picture Astonishingly, as the Universe cooled and expanded over the next 400,000 years, the average photon eventually ran out of energy to ionise hydrogen. For the first time, protons and electrons united and remained together to form neutral hydrogen. Recombination is the term used to describe the joining of an electron and a proton, hence this event is referred to as recombination even though it was the first time most atoms had united. Continuing the story Neutral hydrogen is highly good at absorbing visible light, the wavelengths of light humans can see, therefore the universe was still opaque even though the density of the Universe was reducing as it expanded. This period is known as the Dark Ages. That situation would last for a very, very long period until new objects formed that could emit ultraviolet light. When they were created, they ionised the hydrogen in space once more, but this time was different since the Universe had a lower density, allowing photons to go farther without being absorbed. Space became transparent all of a sudden and remained so. We can see a great distance even today because the majority of gas is ionised, or officially called a plasma. Reionization refers to this point in the universe's history. However, when did that occur? A pleasant approach to learn more exists. A blazar, or galaxy containing a supermassive black hole spewing energy, as depicted by an artist. Credit: Science Communication Lab and DESY A blazar, or galaxy containing a supermassive black hole spewing energy, as depicted by an artist. Credit: Science Communication Lab and DESY Image: Science Communication Lab at DESY Huge black holes evolved in the centres of galaxies as they initially emerged from the darkness. These black holes would collect matter as it fell into them, building up in a disc that would become extremely hot and emit high-energy ultraviolet light, X-rays, and gamma rays. These galaxies are what astronomers refer to as quasars, and we can view them from a very, very long way. When these quasars' light reaches us, it battles the Universe's expansion, which causes their wavelengths to lengthen—a process known as redshifting. In other words, the redshift reveals the quasar's distance, which in turn reveals how long after the Big Bang we observe it. Due to the fact that light can only move at a certain speed, objects that are further away are redshifted more and appear to us in the past.Because of the quasar's immense strength, even if we observe it before reionization, it will have already ionised the hydrogen immediately around it, allowing light to escape. The light from the quasar will be absorbed if there is a cloud of hydrogen between us and the quasar that is sufficiently removed from it to remain neutral. The redshift of the wavelength gap we detect in the quasar's light indicates how far away the cloud is from us and, more significantly, how far back in time we saw it. Very far distant clouds are neutral and unionised. However, following reionization, we suddenly stop noticing them because they are unable to take in the quasar's light.. So in theory, all we need to do is isolate the light from a collection of distant quasars using really good spectra. Numerous wavelengths will exhibit significant absorption, which will disappear at a sufficiently low redshift. Reionization took place then. This is really difficult to do in real life. You need really brilliant quasars, and even then, they are faint because they are so far away. Additionally, you need very good spectra, which calls for a large telescope and prolonged exposures. Numerous additional factors must also be taken into consideration, such as how the universe was structured back then. However, the astronomy team actually did this. They used archived observations of 42 additional extremely bright quasars from two other observatories in addition to 25 very distant very bright quasars from the XQR-30 survey. They discover that the Universe first became transparent roughly 1.1 billion years after the Big Bang by closely examining the 67 quasar spectra. Illustration of the first stars in the universe illuminating the gas clouds where they originated. Photo: NAOJ Illustration of the first stars in the universe illuminating the gas clouds where they originated. Photo: NAOJ And that's really fascinating! What precisely ionised the universe is unknown. There was enough time for supermassive, extremely hot, luminous stars to form as well, and they could have also blasted out UV light, enough to contribute. It might have been these very quasars. Was it thus stars, quasars, or a combination of both? The timing may be able to focus this. Reionization was previously estimated to have occurred 200 million years earlier, but if the new estimate is accurate, there is plenty of room for many more of these first-generation stars to form and contribute. So, if you'll excuse the pun, it might have been both stars and quasars working together. Around this time, galaxies were developing, and if these stars were incredibly powerful, they could blow gas straight out of the galaxies, altering the evolution of those galaxies. In order to comprehend when these stars existed and what they might have done to their surrounding environments, we need to know when reionization took place. I'll remind you that you reside in a galaxy and on a planet revolving around a star whose lineages may be traced back to this period. Reionization—what it was, when it happened, and how it affected the universe—thus plays a role in our existence. It's clear why we want to know the answer. And it might be here at last. Naturally, more observations are preferable. We may also be able to determine the duration of reionization if we have more exact estimates of this number from models of cosmic structure. 1,000,000 years? 10, fifty, or one hundred? It's almost certain that larger telescopes with better cameras will be used to answer that question. We are among the first species to comprehend precisely how the universe came into being and what occurred to it after that. You can quote me on that, but the Universe took 13.8 billion years to get here, and I think it was worth the wait.

IMC Unit 1 Question Help
Hi everyone, I’m studying for the IMC Unit 1 and was doing the textbook mock exam (Investment Environment Official Training Manual from CFA, Volume 1 v21).
Question 52 has stumped me. It’s part of a case study 1 (screenshot below of case study and question). I see the answer is B) 5,300 but I can’t see why. The CGT allowance is £6,000 and even taking into account his previous losses of £14,000 from XYZ Shares I can’t see how the answer is £5,300.
Any explanation would be appreciated.

2024.05.15 17:24 CoachBuondi Is there a Support number I can call?

Hi everyone.
Question is very simple: Is there any support number I can use to contact Fanatic? I have a defective unit that I've tried to open a ticket for, after the last one was closed due to a delay of shipping on my side. I had to open a new ticket and got the auto-message that tickets are taking around 3weeks to be answered. This was one month a go.
So I wanted to call someone to try and sort this out. My experience has been terrible so far and I am really close to losing the love for the money of the gear ai bought and buying a similar set on a competitor.
Can someone help me?
