Recommended avian vets in New Jersey?

2024.05.15 01:41 winterbirdie16 Recommended avian vets in New Jersey?

Hi everyone, I posted here last week about people’s experience with having an older bird and getting their blood taken and whether it’s risky.
For context, I recently went to a vet and they assigned my cockatiel on Clavamox antibiotics since the bacteria in his fecal test came back uniform which is considered abnormal, whereas birds should be having varied bacteria. I called later in the week because I was concerned about the weight loss he was experiencing (I believe from the antibiotics). They had me schedule a checkup which we went to, but when they tested his feces again the results were unclear because he’s still had not finished his antibiotics, so the visit didn’t give me any more clarification. So it doesn’t really make sense why I had to come in when his antibiotics were not finished and would affect his test.
My primary reason for posting this is because I read some pretty concerning reviews posted within the past year about people bringing their birds for blood exams to this vet hospital and their birds dying. I know there’s an inherent risk since cockatiels are small, and I got reassurance from my last post about people who have older tiels that get blood drawn just fine. Those reviews I saw more or less have me worried about doing any more exams at this particular hospital. I’ve had an okay experience so far but I have not done any “invasive” exams.
For now they want me to finish the antibiotics, watch his weight, but if I notice his weight continuing to drop they put me in for another check up in 2 weeks. From what it seems like it might come down to having to get a blood test done to rule out any potential illnesses, but after seeing those reviews I feel incredibly concerned and quite frankly, panicked.
If there is anyone who has an avian vet they have good experiences with and trust in New Jersey, preferably Central Jersey but I will be willing to travel if necessary. Thank you from a panicked tiel parent.

2024.05.14 23:42 mvlis dosing more than once a week

I am on regular mounjaro/zepbound but I split doses out of a 15ml pen so I think maybe more people might be able to contribute to this discussion here.
My pattern has been to take a dose Friday, lose steadily until tuesday and then wednesday - Friday morning start to bounce back up (presumably water weight.)
My average has been dropping to a pound or less a week doing this and it is frustrating to backslide for basically 3 days of the week.
After months and months of this pattern it finally occurred to me that maybe I should take a booster dose tuesday night and maybe I will continue to make progress the whole week rather than backsliding 2 lbs before losing that water weight and taking off maybe another pound.
This is a little different than microdosing to avoid side effects - I took 7.5 in my upper arm for the first time and felt great with zero side effects and good appetite suppression for a few days. But here I am back on my way up as of this morning and I feel like I am wasting half the week.
I'd be thrilled to get back to an average of closer to 1.5-2 a week like in the beginning vs the 1 lb a week I am doing now. It's been tapering off slowly and I'm worried it will continue to taper off - I am only about halfway to goal with 65 left to lose and have been on the meds since august of last year.
Any thoughts on this situation?

2024.05.14 03:31 TraditionalBadger662 Started getting sick 4 days post op…not fun.

I started getting sick (sore throat, congestion, sneezing, coughing) and it’s been hell. Honestly I’d take an extra week with drains instead of being sick.
It’s also been hard because I’m on wellbutrin and I have negative interactions with typical cold medicine, particularly dextromethorphan (cough suppressant) so I have been relying on expectorant, decongestants, cough drops, teas, sleeping next to a humidifier, etc.
Luckily it’s not hurting too much to cough but sneezing hurts. It’s more annoying than anything as I’ve been sneezing like crazy. Also, I think my lymph nodes are swollen or something because my armpits hurt real bad, they feel sore and swollen.
I’m really worried getting sick is going to affect how my scars heal or just the healing process in general. On the other hand, should I not be too worried that I got sick now since my immune system is already focusing on healing myself? I’m just trying to think positively but also want to be realistic. Haven’t had a fever and I’ve been testing negative for covid.
I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow for my first post op appointment. I’m pretty sure I will be getting my drains out as the output has been less than 15ml for more than 3 days now. Fingers crossed being sick won’t change anything.
Anyone else experience getting sick shortly after getting top surgery? Was there anything you did that helped get through it?

2024.05.13 00:11 Low_Mode_5600 Dog dental cleaning/ Arthritis/ Slipped Disc

Dog dental cleaning/ Arthritis/ Slipped Disc
I would like to start this post by saying that I haven't seen a post about real life experience about dog dental cleaning, so I would like to tell my story.
On April 5, 2024 My dog Mickey had a vet consultation for his teeth since he had a very severe case, he stopped eating, bad breath, and drooling. In order for them to determine it is safe for him to have a dental cleaning they have to have their yearly vaccines and do blood work, we had the option of doing regular blood work or an in-depth one so we chose the more in-depth one and everything turned out good for his blood work and it was safe. The vet said he would need a dental cleaning so I scheduled that for April 11, 2024. We dropped him off early in the morning and they called us around 12 pm saying everything went well and we can come pick him up when we are ready. I get there around 2 pm and I tell the front desk that I'm here to pick up my dog from a Dental cleaning. So I'm expecting for the vet to call me in and tell me how everything went and how many teeth they pulled out etc but the vet tech comes out with my dog and tell me heres Mickeys and gave me a bag medication and was about to leave so I stopped her asking how many teeth they pulled out, the the after care I have to do so she did tell me but it wasn't expecting them to send me on my mary way so I got the information I needed but I suggest you ask questions, for Mickey my dog they pulled 6 teeth and 3 fell out. The total ended up being 528.00 and that involved the teeth cleaning that was 383.00 up to 50 lb Rimadyl injectable that was 8.16, 10.00 Manual Extraction per tooth, 3 teeth fell out 0 dollars, 4 manual Extraction multiroom per tooth 60 dollars 4 Rimadyl chews 10.40, 10 Clavamox 22.50, and Dental home care kit was 35 dollars so again the total was 528.06. When we brought Mickey home everything was fine he was moving around. Around 2 weeks later he had swollen Lymph nodes under his jaw and he wasn't moving around anymore and he would randomly yelp in pain so we took him back. they gave us medication for that Lymph node and it went away; The vet Diagnosed Mickey with Arthritis so they gave him a Liberla injection that cost 65 dollars and should last for 30 days and you have to do it monthly so when he got that injection we also gave him pain meds for the injection to kick in and he was doing fine with the pain meds and when we took him off it he was still in pain wasn't moving around. So we continued to give him pain medication and he was fine for a few days and then it stopped working for him. He would get up every now and then for the past week so we thought it was his age since he was 12 years old, until his back legs stopped working so we took him back for a wellness check cause he couldn't even stand to pee, drink water, and eat. The vet did a wellness check on him and said he had a slipped disc and it wasn't Arthritis. She gave us the option to put him to sleep or do a steroid shot for his slip disc and I asked for her opinion and she said that if we did the shot we would start to see improvement in the next 2 days but seeing how bad is slip disc is and how old he is it probably won't work. So I made the decision to put my baby dog to sleep cause I could tell he was suffering and I didn't wanna prolong that for my own selfishness, I didn't want him to suffer anymore so it was the hardest decision I had to make in my life.
Mickey was an amazing dog, I had him since I was 5, He watched me grow up for 12 years almost 13. He was the sweetest, he would run around, play fetch, and comfort me during my hard times so I'm very thankful for that little dog, he saved me in so many ways.

2024.05.08 16:19 FascistSolution Biltong recipe

This recipe is what I use to make biltong in batches of 3kg, churning out an edible batch roughly every 3 days based on my box size.
It is effective and adjusted for humid climates to battle potential mould growth.
The optional *paprika** and Gochujang will just add a nice heat, which you can adjust based on your own taste.*
Meat options: * Top rump with fat cap * Silverside / topside if your prefer leaner biltong * This recipe is for roughly 3kg of meat wet weight * Scale the spice and marinade up according to your meat weight
Meat prep: * Cut 3cm wide steaks with grain of meat * Remove connective tissue where applicable but keep the fat * Salt with coarse sea salt * 2kg rump = 120g salt * Leave in salt for 3 hours flipping at 1.5 hrs
Wet mix: * 120g red wine vinegar / apple cider vinegar if you want it more on the sweet side * 120g Worcestershire sauce * 60g honey * 5-15ml of your favourite spirit, Brandy or Whiskey * Optional: 5-10g Gochujang chili * Mix all wet ingredients in a bowl
Marinade: * After 3 hour salting of meat, hand brush salt off meat, get the worst off, but don't fuss for perfection and don't wash it off with water either * Place meat in sealable container * Add wet marinade and massage into meat * Chill out for 1 hour in marinade * Turn and leave for 1 more hour * Add small amount of baking soda (6g / 1 tsp), this specifically helps in humid climates to ensure your meat doesn't go bad * Mix well and let sit for 30 minutes, turning at 15 minutes
Dry mix: * 40g coriander seeds * 4g chilli flakes * 20g fennel seeds * 10g black pepper corns * Dry roast in medium heat pan without pepper * Remove once the spice smokes a bit, don't over heat the spices * Cool down slightly and coarse grind, only add black pepper at this point * Add 1tbsp or 15-20g brown salt to mix if you want it sweeter * Optional: Add 5g garlic powder to dry spice mix at this point, and 5g smoked paprika is also a good option for extra flavour
Curing: * Remove the meat from your marinade and pat dry with paper towels * Cover meat with spice mix, using a tray to roll meat in the spices, a lot of your spices will drop off during the curing process * Add stainless steel hooks to the meat, and labels for weight, weighing before hanging, or eyeball it once you start feeling confident in your process * After roughly 2-3 days, if you use a biltong box with a fan and bulb, 3-5 days if you use only a bulb or fan, 4-6 days if you use only air drying, weigh the meat, should be 30 (wet)-50 (dry)% less weight to indicate it is cured. Or simply do a taste test and continue to dry if necessary * Store in vacuum sealed bags with date labels, pop these bags in the fridge or freezer for longer storage

2024.05.04 17:50 Littlewasteoftime Any tips to maintain supply during a 4 night trip

Hey everyone!
So we are about to turn a year and are so closed to being weaned but I just got put on last minute 4 night work trip and I’m nervous that may mean the end just before goal/he is ready… I’m wondering if anyone has any extra tips to maintain supply.
Extra background: He is a really good eater and even though we make sure he gets plenty of milk, I’m pretty sure most of his calories are coming from food. I breastfeed him at night and up until 2 weeks ago pumped during the day to provide bottles for day care. 2 weeks ago he got HFMD and then I got HFMD followed up by a nasty cold and it pretty much killed my ability to pump… I am back down to about 15ml a day.
On his own he had dropped down to 1 150ml (5oz) bottle at daycare per day (don’t worry he blows through his lunch which is full child size), so I just switched it for cows once we blew through the freezer stash (always been a just enougher) since we are so close to the year mark AND he rejects formula 75% of the time.
When we get home from daycare I immediately breastfeed him, than make dinner, than bed and he sleeps until about 5am when he wakes up wanting a little breastfeeding (idk how much he actually gets here) and snuggle time.
In the past when I traveled for work (only 1 night at a time so far) I could only ever pump the amount my body was used to pumping each day and so I’m super nervous that it will remain limited to 15 ml a day… fingers crossed this is enough to maintain having a supply, but does anyone know if I can keep it with even such a low output??
Thanks for your help and advice!

2024.04.30 12:35 Ok-Sun8763 15mL colustrum day 2?

I was able to hand express colustrum quite easily. (Baby came early and had a hard time latching due to her mouth being so small compared to my nipple). The first day (birth) they had us starting at 15-20 drops every 3 hours using a spoon. (1 drop each spoon to mouth 15-20x - this equated to about 1.5 to 2mL of colustrum per feed). At day 2, they said blood sugar was just below threshold and told me I should by then have been feeding 15mL colustrum every 2-3 hours. They started blood sugar checks before each feed. I was really productive at hand expressing colustrum and was able to get the first 2 rounds no issues. The nurses even voiced surprise at how much I was able to extract. But, by the 3rd feeding, I was having a hard time getting even 1mL, and ended up having to supplement formula. It's been several feeds with only formula and I still havent been able to express enough colustrum to feed her more than 1mL. (We tried pumping after consultation with the lactation specialists but I'm still only producing colustrum andbyielding very little. The pump yields none (likely thickness) and so i returned to trting to hand express, and hoping there is a change soon and regular milk starts flowing. She is so lethargic on the formula now and I could barely wake her for last feed.
I am hoping this will not impact my ability to breast-feed and appreciage any advice or anecdotes from similar experience.
Thank you!

2024.04.29 18:34 temperarian Safe to stop Clavamox early?

Species: cat
Age: 10 years old.
Sex: Female (spayed) Breed: domestic short hair Body weight: ~9 lbs History: frequent vomiting, urine crystals, constipation, mild asthma - no asthma attacks or coughing, high CK & mild heart murmur & very mild/early stage HCM, ear infection frequent vocalizations esp at night, lip licking/smacking Clinical signs: vomiting, lip licking Duration: frequent vomiting for 3.5 years, but increased frequency 1 week Location: BC, Canada
My cat Lily had her teeth cleaned under anesthesia 5 days ago. Sent home with Meloxicam .3 ml for 3 days + Clavamox 1ml 2x daily for 1 week. She has vomited 4 times since then (twice on Saturday, then once each Sunday and today). Sometimes food, sometimes yellowish brownish liquid, sometimes white/clear stringy liquid. She had a history of vomiting, but not this frequently. Called the vet and he said to pause her Clavamox for a couple days and bring her in for anti vomiting injection if she still keeps vomiting (and finish the remainder after the pause if she stops vomiting). My concern is that isn’t it dangerous to stop antibiotics before the course is done? She still has 5 doses left (tonight + 2 more days). Could we be inviting an infection by only giving her 5/7 days of antibiotics?
Relevant info - I haven’t given her the Clavamox exactly 12 hours apart for all doses. Due to work etc, it’s generally been within a 1-2 hour window. Could that have caused the vomiting / other issues?
Also, her food has changed twice since her dental appointment. 1 - she had to be on soft food only for 2 days after appt, and for the first night she had the easily digestible royal canin kind. Then she switched ‘back’ to royal canin urinary care wet food (she’s just been on this a couple weeks, since her initial appointment when the vet noticed crystals). I also gave her some tiki cat food topper & her previous wet food (purina beyond pate) to encourage her to eat since she’s not used to eating primarily wet food so she was undereating, and she’d already gone a long period fasting before the dental appointment so I was worried about her going multiple days with barely any food. Once she was back on solid food, she was ‘back’ to Hills urinary care kibble (she just started on this a couple weeks ago) + wet food.
Prior recent history - she was frequently licking/smacking her lips, so I took her to the vet a few weeks ago. Vet thought likely dental since she had gingivitis. She also got her vaccination up to date. Vet noticed that she also had an ear infection. He sent her home with ear drops and we booked an appointment for echocardiogram with abdominal ultrasound + blood tests to ensure she would be ok to go under anesthesia (it was also time for her 6 month follow up since she had these tests previously due to suspected heart issues). Tests were good other than very mild/early stage HCM.

Eyebrow tint color & eyelash tinting tips!
As a genuine redhead... who has darn near invisible eyebrows & eyelashes, I find it easier than looking sickly everyday, to just buy a few tubes of Refectocil tint & liquid oxidant to tint my eyelashes & eyebrows myself! So I thought I would share my tips & my journey to finding a good eyebrow colour for us redheads, that looks more natural than a un-natural looking brown or bright red. (If I'm going out, I still touch them up with make-up still though.)
Having grey-blue eyes, I prefer to use dark black for my eyelashes to make my eye colour stand out a bit more. They do tend to stay a nice dark black, & seem to last until they drop out or grow out. (As long as the lashes are really clean of any make-up & are free of any oils, etc before dying) Don't worry, dispite the Refectocil gel going on looking not looking so black in colour, it does end up a really nice dark black when its done.
My eyebrows don't quite last quite as long, so they need to be redone a bit more often. But that is probably because I am not as confident with leaving the tint on for too long! I don't want to look like Groucho Marx! ..... again.
So first what I want to share, is my journey on finding a way to get a natural color eyebrow. For me anyway. Not too dark, not too red/bright. Because you definitely don't want to buy "red"... thinking that it is for us redheads..... because trust me, it IS Red! Like Ronald McDonald kinda RED. (Yes. I went there, ...so you don't have to! Lol)
So then I went back onto Amazon & purchased "Natural Brown" (#3) My thinking: ...because after all, I've used a brown eyeliner pencil sometimes to darken my brows. And IT looks ok! Right?...Nope. Hilariously dark! WAY too Dark for a natural redhead! And it sure took to my brows the second it hit em! BAM! Groucho Marx!!! All the scrubbing in the world couldn't fully remove them! So I had to wait it out, hiding in my house for a bit. (I think I have seen that they now have a tint remover available!)
So next, I tried a Light brown tint (#3.1) .....Nope. Although it wasn't as bad as the darker Natural Brown was, if I put it on & quickly remove it almost right away. Then at least it kinda looks like I actually have eyebrows!
So working my way down the embarrassment scale, I then found the "Chesnut" (#4) color. This HAS to be right. Right?... Wrong! Again it was too dark & still too red for my eyebrows. So I went back to the light brown tint, quickly removed, until I got brave enough to try something different.
Remembering my younger years, working in a hair salon sweeping hair etc, I recalled the hairdresser who would mix hair colours. I wondered if it would work with this tint? So I decided to try mixing the Chesnut (colour #4) to the light brown (colour #3.1).... & BINGO! It worked! Eventually, I found a good mix for what I wanted. A little under a third of the chesnut to the amount of the Light brown worked great for me!
It was so bang on, that I had once put the excess I had onto some of those darn white stripes of hair above my ears that I had recieved as a "gift" for entering into my 50's. It ended up being a great match!
Another few tips I have for tinting your eyelashes: Vaseline. You don't want this tint getting into your eyes.... it stings! A lot. But because I have curly lashes, I find it is difficult to get the dye right down to the base without that happening eventually. And once it's in your eye, the game is over! Your eye will water and sting. You'll have no control, & it will shut tight... then your other one does the same & the next thing you know, the tint is washing through both of your eyes, down your cheeks & you're blindly racing to the sink! .... SO make sure you DO Vaseline ALL of your face & anywhere that you DON'T want the tint to stick to, in advance! Better to be prepared!
To avoid this you really need to take your time & be super careful! Or better yet...get a pro to do it! But just know that even they will get it in your eyes sometimes... so don't wear contacts that are not disposable! Lol
This leads to my next tip: Like decorating a cake! After a few years of experimenting, for my super curly lashes, I find that putting the tint & Oxidant into one of those tiny ziplock bags to use for mixing (by squishing around) & then for application,(see below), works quite well.
After mixing well, you snip off the smallest bit of the corner of the bag that you can, & then by squeezing the tint to that corner, you can use it just like you would a icing bag for decorating cakes! By squeezing a tiny line out, right at the base of your eyelashes. (On the topside only!) Then you can use a clean mascara wand to brush it through the rest of your lashes. (Repeat as necessary) It will work its way through to the other side eventually, without having to apply it directly so close to your eyeball & risk getting into your eyes. This works way better than any other method I have tried so far to get the tint all the way down & it reduces the chances of burning eyeballs from hell too! LOL
Sorry it's so long of a post. I just don't seem to have the ability to compact what I'm trying to say anymore!

2024.04.28 03:47 Itsjasperblue Do I need to think about letting my cat go?

Spayed female, Domestic medium hair, 10 years old, 7.7lbs
My cat has been determined to have FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis), and about every 3 months since August of last year will have a flare where she pees outside her box, cries, and there is blood present. We’ve done a whole blood panel and everything came back perfect, which ruled out kidney disease or anything else. The vet she sees said all we can do is manage it with pain meds and anxiety calming methods, and antibiotics when applicable.
She’s currently on a flare right now which has turned into a UTI so she’s on clavamox drops and gabapentin. We’re trying her on fluoxetine right now too as this has been happening so frequently and we’re running out of ideas.
My question is, given the frequency of her episodes, at what point do I need to have the dreaded conversation about her quality of life? She does still play and eat and otherwise seem her normal self when not on her cocktail of medications. I know FIC isn’t a death sentence so I might just be panicking.

2024.04.27 07:44 anniemiss Treadmill Lube (Inexpensive 100% Silicone Lubricant Alternative)

SCS’s Lunar cube lube is $0.87 per mL at its cheapest. That is about $26 per oz.
$13 for 15mL
Lunar (or similar) and Martian are my go to lubes for quick and easy setup, or FZ Calm, Silk, etc…..if I don’t feel like doing Angstrom. If I get a new puzzle or help someone out I usually do some quick drops of the above, because Angstrom is a bit more involved.
I am fairly certain (outside the cube world) it is known at 10 WEIGHT / 100 CST. Lunar seems to be just slightly thinner, and from what I have read you can use mineral spirits to thin silicone lubricant, but in a conversation with u/olimo they recommended against that. I am happy with 10wt though.
You can get it for $2-5 per ounce from Team Associated or Racer’s Edge as RC Shock Oil. Other brands too.
Enter Treadmill Lube. I specifically ordered Essential Values, and Action Fitness, from Walmart (had a gift card).
You can get it on Walmart and Amazon for less than $2.00 per ounce. Aliexpress is even cheaper.
You can find treadmill lube for under $10 for 4oz/118mL.
As far as I can tell it is identical to Lunar. It is 100% Silicone Lubricant. I have not seen anyone mention treadmill lube before, and ordering 100% silicone lubricant by wt(weight)/cst/k will always yield pretty inexpensive finds.
Pretty stoked to find this as another option, and others will benefit from another low-cost option.
Curious if anyone might have additional info/insight?

2024.04.26 16:10 Lord_Roguy Infinite Aqua Gyranis glitch

Aqua Gyranis is water that contains trace amount of cycle stone. According to the artefacts of power book 300 drops of aqua gyranis will give you one oz of cycle stone. A drop is a unit of measurement that is 0.05ml. 300 drops is this 15ml. A fluid oz is just under 30ml. Which means you can sell your diluted cycle stone to get twice as much pure cycle stone per volume… dilute the cycle stone you just bought and you have an infinite money glitch.
Some might argue maybe drops means something different in AOS. But even if a drop of water in AOS = 1ml (making water 20 times thicker than it is irl) that would still be a broken ratio of 300ml of water with trace amounts of cycle stone to 30ml of pure cycle stone. A 1/10 solution is not “trace amounts”.
Even if you use the early 19th century definition of a drop it still doesn’t make sense. According to that definition a drop is 1/480th of an oz. Which means even if Aqua gyranis was 100 pure cycle stone. You’d be buying 480 drops with 300 drops. Not even factoring into the fact that aqua gyranis is diluted cycle stone. It is literally an infinite money glitch in a TTRPG.
However. A sphere of aqua ghyranis is supposed to be 100 drops and fit in the palm of your hand. “Fitting in the palm of your hand” sounds more like 100ml judging by the sizes of round bottom flasks I’ve interacted with. Not the 5ml that 100 drops should represent. With this size you’re getting 300ml is to 30ml which I’ve already talked about that ratio earlier.

2024.04.25 07:38 SweetHomeNorthKorea Playing with my Neo Flex and had some questions

I've been having a lot of fun playing with the Flex and I noticed some things I wanted to get some opinions on. I'm using the bottomless portafilter and an 1zpresso X Pro S grinder at 0.4.3 on a medium roast.
I saw that the dose range for this 40mm portafilter is 12g-18g so I tried pulling shots at 18g and noticed I couldn't get more than maybe 24g in the cup. I dropped down to 15g and then 14g and am now able to get to 28g for my 2:1 target.
Is it safe to say I should stick to the low side of the basket capacity range for this machine for a 2:1 shot? The specs say the 60ml capacity brew chamber can yield a 45ml shot but I don't really see where that extra 15ml would come from based on the shots I've been pulling.
I've pulled maybe 8 or 9 shots on this so far and the last 4 have been fairly tasty to varying degrees.

2024.04.16 00:23 Old_Preparation315 Confusing Mess Involving Coconut Oil And Amber Resin: PLEASE HELP :(

I made 4 containers, each with 15ml of coconut oil and 5g of amber resin. I also added 20 drops of essential oils to each. I heated them, in a double boiler, for 97 hours (4 days + 1 hour) usually 50-60 degrees Celsius but sometimes as high as 75 degrees Celsius briefly.
The Amber did not dissolve despite me stirring them on average about once every waking hour. Maybe like 25% of it dissolved. I took them off the stove to research further. Now, at 20 degrees Celsius the coconut oil mixture won't solidify and I don't know why because coconut oil should be liquid under 25 degrees right?
Is there any way I can salvage this? How do I make the Amber dissolve and how can I make it solid at room temperature? Is there something different I can do to make this work? :(
Note: I broke the amber down to about pea or half-pea sized chunks before mixing it with the coconut oil
Edit: Just realized the "amber" I bought might be fake... :(

2024.04.13 00:58 DH90 Is this a new tiki recipe or just a variation of a tiki drink?

Is this a new tiki recipe or just a variation of a tiki drink?
Recipe:
15ml Cinnamon Syrup
15ml Orgeat
15ml Fassionola
7.5ml Grenadine
20ml Grapefruit Juice
20ml Lime Juice
20ml Orange Juice
15ml Pimento Dram
15ml Falernum
4 drops Absinthe
3 drops Angostura Bitters
20ml Cointreau
20ml Appleton Signature
20ml El Dorado 8 year
20ml Rhum JM XO
20ml Plantation OFTD
20ml Gosling's Black Seal (to float)
Decided to experiment today. So this was absolutely delicious while still maintaining a very boozy element. Everything combined in a shaker (except Gosling's) with ice and then strained into a highball with crushed ice and floated with Gosling's. Then Garnished with lime and mint.
It was somewhere between a Cobra's Fang and a Zombie.
I would have tried using a Curaçao except I don't have any at the moment.
