Azure Files SLOOOOOOOW

2024.05.16 16:46 jamie_passa Azure Files SLOOOOOOOW

OK so we moved from on premise file server to SharePoint for all our departments, except one (who have been a complete nuisance for us) We eventually settled on Azure Files after some testing, speed etc. What we DID NOT test was larger Excel files, anywhere from 3MB to 50MB files. As I type this, literally 4 min and counting waiting for a file to open. I can copy to my desktop, make modifications, copy it back and still be waiting for it to open. I found an article yet no official documentation from Microsoft makes mention of this ANYWHERE. I am ok if this is their stance, however, maybe put it in some document or guide IN BOLD. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1377104/opening-a-excel-file-in-azure-file-shares-takes-a Anyone else experience this?
EDIT - Protected View was the issue. Allowed the location and bam works great. wtffffffff

2024.05.16 16:01 ElephantThen2185 SharePoint 2019 SMTP

Hi Everyone,
I been trying to set up the SMTP for SharePoint 2019 but with no luck. I followed as many online forums and step to see how they have done it and see if I can make it function with no appeal.
My SharePoint server has the following:
Windows Server 2022
SQL 2019
SharePoint 2019 server with Workflow Manager and Service Bus
Workflow from previous SharePoint 2013 - Workflow Manager 2010.
I have done the following implantation with no luck:
Tried to use SMTP from office 365 with an email address that has been tested and we know it can be used as SMTP with no luck. Tried to test the workflow individually on the SharePoint section as it would shows onto the workflow testing part of SharePoint that "Outgoing mail has not been set up on the server" but on the admin panel of SharePoint there is no issue with the way I set up the SMTP from SharePoint itself. I had tried to use IIS(but it seems not work on Windows Server 2022).
If I am tying to send out an message test from SharePoint PowerShell I get back
"Send-MailMessage : The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail."

At this point in time I am not sure what to do and how to approach it.
As I tried to:
Use SMTP from IIS, Office365, on prem mail server and Google but still nothing.
Ping the port 587 and came back as open.
Tried to send emails out from SharePoint using test email with PowerShell script; nothing.
Tried to recreate different workflow; nothing
Open both 587 & 25 port on the Firewall just in case: nothing.
Is there any alternative option to set up SMTP, as on the previous version of SharePoint (2013 and 2016) of workflow that we had was functioning. The entire issue with setting up SMTP is causing a nightmare for myself and my college as no notification are being set out. but it seems to be related back to the outgoing emails not been set up by not wanting to work properly.

2024.05.16 15:18 LEGGERMEISTER Update a Form value using a button.

Hello all,
I have been spending a considerable amount of time googling, using chatGPT and asking others around me how to make this work, and so far nothing I am doing works.
I have a form in my powerapp. It is going to be for a routine shift round some workers will be doing. It is going to be ran on a windows tablet. The feedback I have gotten is that the dropdown is too many steps to do, and the radio buttons are too small. Everyone would prefer a "Yes", "No" button they can press instead that is bigger. We have some older guys with poor vision, and also not so computer savvy people who need it as basic as possible.
Here is what my setup looks like.
The Question is: "Are the Entry/Exit Doors Closed, Not Blocked, and Functional?" The Answers are "Yes" or "No".
The Data Source is a Sharepoint list we will call "RoundsList"
The Form is "ECR1_Form"
The card for this question is "ECR1 - Entry/Exit Doors Closed, Not Blocked, and Functional?_DataCard5" The Radio Buttons I have used is :"DataCardValue281" The Defaults property for this card is "ThisItem.'ECR1 - Entry/Exit Doors Closed, Not Blocked, and Functional?' The Update property is "DataCardValue281.Selected DataField is "field_5"
I have a "Yes" button that on the OnSelect property is "Set(ecr1q1,"Yes") I have a "No" button that on the OnSelect property is "Set(ecr1q1,"No")
The Font Color of my buttons change depending on yes and no, but thats irrelevant.
I wold ideally like to do away with the drop down, or radio buttons, but idk how to make these buttons update the value that the question needs.
Also I am not sure what to call each of these components. What is the, what I am referring to as "Question" What is the, what I'm calling "Answer" called?
I have tried every possible thing google has said to do, ChatGPT, Bing Co-piolet, Google Bard, and all my colleagues.
Reddit Please Help. If anymore information is needed, I can provide.
Much Thanks.
Editing to add more details.
I have several pages with forms that upon hitting submit on another page all of the other forms are then patched to the master form.
On this master form page I have a "Testing", " Production", and "Draft" button that updates a column called status. I was able to get this to work by using this in the defaults property for the dropdown. - "LookUp(Choices([@'E&I Shift Rounds'].Status),Value=statusupdate)" But manipulating this for my varable "ecr1q1" doesn't work. Idk whats up.

2024.05.16 10:25 TheM365Admin Document Library Workflow Help

I'm also going to cross post this is MicrosoftFlow in case the answer is there.
I have a Workflow in a series of document Libraries on a standalone site within a GCC tenant (SPFx isn't an option on this one). It's based on column status values set Inline (customers are very tech illiterate and using the default form was too much). The columns have formatting applied to them that dynamically update based on other column actions. Certain values trigger certain flows and it works great...for documents.
The request was design and tested for document uploads. The first thing the customer did was upload a folder. Now the requirement is the same process be applied to both documents and folders, but treat the folder like a single document - have the process be done once and not for each item in the folder.
My initial idea was to make SharePoint think all folders were a different content type. If that's possible, I can't figure it out.
Next idea was to add an additional flow that does something like: If content type is a folder, create a new item with the values of the folder. Set a new view to items in the folder. Link new item to folder. Move them both along the process. I feel like there's an easier, less clunky way I can't see.
What I FEEL LIKE the easiest solution is, would be to redo the whole damn thing as a list and just have them use the attachments column, forcing browser editing for the docs, taking content type out of the equation. This feels cheap and defeating. Also the biggest change to the user experience.
So, that's my conundrum. If you have any insight, advice, or see the extremely simple solution I'm overlooking, I'd really appreciate it.

2024.05.15 00:36 Soothsayer102 Tenant to Tenant Migration - Questions about Bit Titan

I'm about to start migrating users to a new tenant and want to move all files and related Sharepoints sites over.
My question is: Does anyone know if Bit Titan copies the files or is it actual migration?
I'd like to run a few test runs but do not want any existing files/usesites to be removed due to technical issues/etc.
Thanks in advance

2024.05.13 20:09 DeadInside1o1 Tracking the location from a sequence of 3D locations obtained from Positron Emission Tomography data.

Tracking the location from a sequence of 3D locations obtained from Positron Emission Tomography data.
Hey All!
I'm working on a rather complex problem and have been for a considerable amount of time. A year more or less.
The data that I'm working with comes from a rather simple simulator that generates pairs of points on a cylinders wall (excluding the top and bottom). The pair of points defined by 2 3D locations that make up what we call a line-of-response (LOR) in the land of medical imaging. These lines intersect a very small volume (dependant of the particle that is placed in the PET scanner). Now there are algorithms out there that can find the location of these lines but I'm trying to build a neural network that can do this. The current start of the art method is using PEPT-ML (unsupervised machine learning). It does this by separating the total number of LORs into chunks of some size we can call N. It then computes the smallest connecting line. If this line is less than some user defined constant, we can call this MD (maximum distance), the centroid of this connecting line is then saved. These centroids are then passed into HDBSCAN which then computes clusters with the help of another parameter called TF (true_fraction) which is the ratio of inliers to outliers. You can then easily remove the noise that HDBSCAN identified and compute the mean of the remaining points in the cluster to find the location.
What I'm trying to do is remove the hassle of having to deal with and optimise all these hyperparameters. I've decided to create a neural network that can find the location within a sample. So I've tried many approaches such as a FFN, transformer encoder and lastly is the recurrent networks. The current network architecture is displayed below and currently provided the best minimum L2 loss . The network hyperparameters are input_dim = 6 (The 2 3D interaction locations), output_dim = 3 (the output location), num_layers = 4 (any larger doesn't work), hidden_dim = 256 (again any larger doesn't work).
class TransformerEncoder(nn.Module): def __init__(self, input_dim, output_dim, num_layers, nhead, hidden_dim): super(TransformerEncoder, self).__init__() self.rnn = nn.LSTM(input_size = input_dim, hidden_size = hidden_dim, num_layers = num_layers, batch_first = True, dropout = 0.1, bidirectional = False, ) self.hidden_dim = hidden_dim self.fc1 = nn.Linear(hidden_dim, output_dim) self.tanh = nn.Tanh() def forward(self, x): x, _ = self.rnn(x) x = x[:, -1, :].view(-1, 1, self.hidden_dim) x = self.fc1(x) x = self.tanh(x) return x
The batch size being used is 1024 if that's relevant? Larger batch sizes tend to train a lot slower and with the amount of training data (1_000_000) and validation data (100_000) it already takes some time. I'd prefer if it doesn't take any longer to train.
I have uploaded the training and validation data to onedrive if anyone want's to have a look. Here is the link. Anyone should be able to get the data if they so wish. You should also find the script that is used for training.
The preprocessing of the data was performed by scaling the (x1, y1, z1, x2, y2, z2) between -1 and 1. This was applied to all pairs of interactions/LORs. It should be noted that The (N, M, 6) array was converted to a (2*N*M, 3) array first and then the scaling was applied and afterwards was converted back to a (N, M, 6) array. N denotes the amount of different samples of LORs, M denotes the number of sequences. This was done so that the targets can be scaled as well. Also this allows for unscaling of predictions during testing.
The scaling step is shown here:
 N = 1_000_000 trainInputs = np.load(trainInputPath)[0:N] trainTargets = np.load(trainTargetPath)[0:N] print("Done loading in training data ...\n") # load test input and target data print("Load in test data ...") N = 100_000 testInputs = np.load(testInputPath)[0:N] testTargets = np.load(testTargetPath)[0:N] print("Done loading in test data ...\n") # transform data print("transforming data ...") inputScaler1 = MinMaxScaler(feature_range = (-1, 1)) train_inputs_scaled = inputScaler1.fit_transform(trainInputs.reshape(-1, 3)) train_inputs_scaled = train_inputs_scaled.reshape(-1, 100, 6) test_inputs_scaled = inputScaler1.transform(testInputs.reshape(-1, 3)) test_inputs_scaled = test_inputs_scaled.reshape(-1, 100, 6) train_targets_scaled = inputScaler1.transform(trainTargets.reshape(-1, 3)) train_targets_scaled = train_targets_scaled.reshape(-1, 1, 3) test_targets_scaled = inputScaler1.transform(testTargets.reshape(-1, 3)) test_targets_scaled = test_targets_scaled.reshape(-1, 1, 3) print("Done transforming data ...\n")
The loss looks as follows. Weird spikes. No idea what causes that. Also no idea why the validation loss is lower than the training loss. I don't think that's an issue?
https://preview.redd.it/zejyaj73i80d1.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=a13657a53b0e5f6175994d556f5f44279c6d3b55
The issue with this approach is that although the validation loss is considerably small it is still not good enough. A good way of thinking about this loss is that 0.1 loss is more or less equal to 10k mm error. 0.01 loss = 1k mm error. 0.001 loss = 100 mm error. 1e-4 loss = 10 mm error and so on. I think I need a loss of 10^(-8) or something.
The complete training script is also in the Onedrive link as mentioned before.
Here's an example of tracking versus the PEPT-ML tracker. The PEPT-ML tracker is significantly more smooth and stable.
https://preview.redd.it/g3spwvw5i80d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=515800267a7b508f3632dd4fc37aab9d83703980
Each of the scatter points are from the neural network being used to output a location from the sequence of LORs. It's really odd that the Z dimension is perfectly fine and more than acceptable but X and Y are well not great. I know there's a symmetry in X and Y but would that cause an issue?
The geometry of the cylinder is shown below.
https://preview.redd.it/4qszacy6i80d1.png?width=2063&format=png&auto=webp&s=fe59b6c22795db934819f0fbf43df42f6fc6fee6
Any help is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.13 13:06 No_Invite5238 MacOS - Open in App for PDF is not working

Hi All,
We are having an issue wherein if the end-user is trying to open in app a PDF file in SharePoint Online, it was showing an error that the library must be synced, hence we did. Now the library is showing in Finder.
We have tested and the PDF files opens in Adobe Acrobat if it's being opened from Finder. Unfortunately, when trying to go to SharePoint Online web and tries to "Open in App" the PDF, it opens the Adobe Acrobat but the file doesn't show. Additionally, OneDrive runs FOD, if we initially open the PDF from Finder, then it downloads the file, and will be able to open from SP Online web, but if it's a file that has not been opened from Finder, it doesn't open.
Troubleshooting Done:
  1. Reinstalled OneDrive
  2. Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  3. Synced SP library to OneDrive.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

2024.05.13 06:04 georgeslanglois External / Guest users relevance (Profile Card, Search, Org Chart, Delve...)

Hi!
My NGO has been provided with a "Microsoft 365 Business Premium (Nonprofit Staff Pricing) Donation" license. The tenant has been basically configured and now I'm trying to configure, mainly, the Sharepoint and user access to it.
Apparently we have 10 licenses for local members so I'm trying to apply a setting where guest users can contribute as much as possible that a guest account can do. There will be no need to access admin panels, but I'd like to the following example features:
I`ve already tried to set "Guests have the same access to Microsoft Entra resources as member users" in Entra /AD '"External Collaboration" but I got also no changes.
Do, you guys know further configuration to orgesprovide Guest users all kind of access they can have?
Thanks in advnace,

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on what might be the issue. One of my clients when they open a Word or Excel document within Sharepoint Online, it opens up a blank white browser page. I tested Google and Edge, and they both gave the same result. If I select open Word app, it opens fine; the issue is just when using the browser version.
I was thinking maybe this was caused by Godaddy defederation but it started happen months after the defederation took place.
Any idea what might be causing this?

I have created a project in PWA linked to a SharePoint Task list site. I'm doing some tests I'm able to assign task to myself (I'm set up as a Enterprise resourse, and "committed" to several tasks). When i publish the project i get an email notification alerting of the Task assignment, but when i enter in PWA->Tasks the table is empty, not showing any of my tasks. Even when the notification email prompt be to update this tasks, when clicking on the link it takes me to the same empty Task table in PWA
I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm not sure what it is and i couldn't find a solution by searching online.
Does anybody know what I'm missing or point me in the right direction? Tanks for your help

2024.05.09 03:25 plburner Looking for customer success or project management. I’m literally desperate. Please help.

2 notes:
  1. Ignore the formatting. It normally looks nice, I just didn’t want to have to reformat it after removing all the personal info to post on Reddit.
  2. A lot of the numbers are guesstimates from what I remember, and I could easily be wrong about them. I don’t have access to the data I need to give accurate metrics here, so I just did some quick math based on what I do remember. I’m also not super familiar with industry standards are, so if anyone here is familiar with what they should be for B2B SaaS (website hosting & digital marketing platform), can you tell me if these numbers are even worth including?
Thanks!

Streamlining Notifications with Power Automate

In today's fast-paced business environment, staying informed about changes in project management tools like SharePoint is crucial for maintaining workflow efficiency. SharePoint lists, acting as dynamic repositories for project data, often undergo updates that can significantly impact ongoing operations. The challenge lies in promptly communicating these updates to relevant stakeholders without manual monitoring, which is where Microsoft Power Automate comes into the spotlight. This powerful tool automates the process of sending email notifications whenever changes occur in a SharePoint list, ensuring that all team members are on the same page.
Setting up an automated email notification system through Power Automate not only enhances team collaboration but also saves valuable time that would otherwise be spent checking for updates manually. This article will guide you through the process of configuring Power Automate to detect changes in your SharePoint list and send customized email alerts. By following these steps, you can streamline communication within your team, improve project management efficiency, and keep everyone informed about critical updates with minimal effort.
Why don't skeletons fight each other? They don't have the guts.

Enhancing Collaboration with Automated SharePoint Notifications

Automating email notifications for SharePoint list updates represents a significant leap towards enhancing team collaboration and productivity. By leveraging Microsoft Power Automate, organizations can streamline the communication process, ensuring that every team member is promptly informed about important changes. This automation not only eliminates the need for manual list monitoring but also significantly reduces the risk of overlooking critical updates. The ability to customize these notifications allows for targeted communication, ensuring that only relevant information is sent to concerned parties. This level of customization can be particularly beneficial in large projects, where different team members may be responsible for various aspects of the project. By receiving updates related to their specific areas of responsibility, team members can react more swiftly to changes, adjust their work plans accordingly, and maintain a steady flow of productivity.
Furthermore, setting up automated notifications through Power Automate fosters a culture of transparency within the organization. It creates an environment where information is freely and automatically shared, reducing the silos that often hinder project progress. This transparency ensures that all team members have access to the latest data, promoting informed decision-making and facilitating a more cohesive project management approach. Moreover, the versatility of Power Automate allows for integration with other tools and platforms, enhancing the automation capabilities beyond SharePoint. This integration capability is crucial for organizations looking to optimize their workflows and leverage technology to gain a competitive edge. Ultimately, automating SharePoint list updates is not just about sending emails—it's about fostering a more efficient, transparent, and collaborative work environment.

Maximizing Efficiency with SharePoint List Automation

Automating email notifications for updates in SharePoint lists can dramatically increase operational efficiency and ensure that critical information is promptly shared among team members. This automation, facilitated by Microsoft Power Automate, is crucial for maintaining the continuity and effectiveness of collaborative projects. It allows for real-time updates, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of the latest changes without delay. The immediate benefit of this automation is the reduction of manual tasks, freeing up team members to focus on more strategic activities rather than spending time tracking list updates. This efficiency gain not only accelerates project timelines but also enhances the overall productivity of the team.
Beyond efficiency, automated notifications play a vital role in improving project management and decision-making processes. By providing instant alerts on list changes, team members are better equipped to respond to new information, adjust project plans, and address potential issues before they escalate. This proactive approach to project management fosters a more agile and responsive working environment. Additionally, the flexibility of Power Automate allows organizations to tailor the automation process to fit their specific needs, further enhancing the effectiveness of communication and collaboration within the team. The integration of automated notifications into daily operations is a testament to the power of digital transformation in optimizing project management practices.

2024.05.08 08:58 Acceptable_Roll_3501 Migration performance - dashboard ideas

Hi data folks! Just to give you some overview. I am part of data migration project. Its really huge project. Me and my team are responsible for data migration from source to target ERP. Major part of migration is done in internal software created within SAP GUI. Its still test environment and the data is scrambled so we are repeating the whole process couple times (migrating data).
Recently I was asked by project lead if I can provide some kind of dashboard that will show how migration went. The data is shown in SAP. I was wondering if the file would be exported somewhere on Sharepoint and based on that I would create dashboard in Power BI with required statistics (% processed, time, errors etc). Could you share your thoughts? Maybe you've done something similar. I'd appreciate any input. I have Excel, power BI, maybe R language from available tools.
Best, Daniel
