2024.06.09 23:43 Joanie_loves_chachie [NV] VP of HR unhappy with me

I am in a basic office position at my company, but because I am the only person who runs my program amd does what I do, I interact with all our departments and people on many different levels in the company. I am also on a couple work committees, so i have directly worked with the VP of HR to help get those running and organize events.
Admittedly, I have had a couple interactions that were snarky and prrhaps unprofessional. The reason I became snarky does not seem important. I understand I need to improve. Two of the instances were while helping to plan the events.
I noticed suddenly that the HR VP stopped talking to me as much and started making decisions that felt like she did not want me as Involved and wanted all control in HR. We had an event on a saturday which I was rhe planner for, and the Friday before she still had not talked with me about details. Her HR employee relations guy took over and would talk to me after she told him the plan. She finally told him she would be wt the building to let me and others in at 9am. My email response was " I love this new non- communication communication we are doing" He respnnded and said he didnt follow, and had I heard something different. I told him "i have not heard anything. I'm glad she told you the plan. Thank you!'
She called me 20 minutes later, but I was off work and did not respond.
Apparently this particular email really made her mad. She told my manager about it and wanted her to give me a PIP. My manager told me she did not want to give me a PIP because my performance is not an issue. So, she said she is having a documented conversation instead. She told me basically to be very careful in talking to the VP moving forwardz as she really seemed she had had enough with me.
To help solve some of the situation, i have removed myself from the committees to avoid interaction with her. However, it now seems anything I do she takes offense, and acts as if I am coming from a bad motive.
I know i made some mistakes, but now it seems she has it set in her mind that I am difficult, and she has brought up other conversations that were not unusual, and turned them into me being rigid and difficult. My manager just told me to be very very careful and know that she is controlling and that my manager has also had issues with this VP coming down on her for things she said.
I am starting to feel targeted by her, in that any interaction is turned around to be something it is not. I sent her HR clerk an email asking if someone else in HR could send the background checks i needed since she had not done it. The VP emailed me and cc'ed my manager stating i need to be aware of how I impact others with my words before i hit send, and she will choose to believe i was not coming from a bad spot. She said i need to come to her to ask questions such as the one I asked rhe clerk.
Quite frankly, I am scared at this point. Who do you go to when HR is the one you are feeling uncomfortable with? Any suggestions?

2024.06.09 23:38 Thermal-Matches Can Cal Poly give me my paycheck from last year?!?

Has anyone else not received a paycheck from Cal Poly?
I have graded all year, and have had little issues with receiving my pay, except for my November paycheck. It should have been a physical check that was never made available to me, and it took the system literally months to get direct deposit properly set up. Due to the lack of receiving this, i asked the school to help me, and they told me to wait a month from the date checks get sent out to get help. Again, I was never notified of a check being available for pickup nor did one ever arrive at my house.
I requested to reissue the check and was notified it will take 6-8 weeks for it to be reissued. That was in February. I email 10 weeks later asking about the status and I’m told that I’ll be notified when they have an answer.
Two weeks pass, I ask for updates, and told that there is one person in Sacramento who is looking into why it’s taking so long. Three weeks ago I ask for another update and I’m told that it should be on campus the first week of June and that the delay was because of a “back up”.
Cool. It took a month and a half beyond the 6-8 week timeframe just to learn that there was a back up. Wow! Very informative! I shouldn’t be worrying about this when I’m about to graduate and have finals to focus on, but I’m leaving SLO immediately after and I was ignored when I asked if I could potentially change my address in one of my earlier communications.
This isn’t just a $50 dollar paycheck; I use these to pay rent and this delay has me starting to consider taking legal action (if possible) against this school. This school is progressively pissing me off more and more with each passing day and this just might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Is anyone else in this situation, or have any advice for me, assuming they shit the bed yet again and fail to pay me?

2024.06.09 23:37 jargoned Applied for a job I REALLY want. Want to know if I should follow up with HR.

I am 18 and have been looking for a part time job for the summer that I will also hopefully keep as a student. I am a Teaching of English major, which means everything English and literacy related is something I am passionate about. I have been waiting for my local library to open applications for a Patron Services position for months now, and discovered just recently that they had, and I applied for it about 5 days ago through email. In the email I spoke about my interest in the position as a prospective English teacher and how important literacy is to me in just a sentence. I feel like I should do more to show my interest in the position. I tried to figure out who the hiring manager was but couldn't find any information online. Should I follow up with HR and reiterate my interest, or should I just wait?

2024.06.09 23:31 chickyparmyarn My house listed for rent on FB Marketplace

Last week, my partner had a stranger arrived at his front door inquiring about a Facebook listing advertising his house for rent. The Facebook listing took old photographs from the inside and outside from Zillow, when the house used to be on the market. The man who posted it also has many other houses up for rent across the US, which I assume are also fake. My partner filed a police report- we know the local police will not go hunt this guy down but we thought it would be smart to have something on record just in case. Afterwards, I messaged the guy from my Facebook profile pretending to be interested to see what his guy wants, assuming information to obtain a fake deposit or banking info, personal info, etc. he asked for my phone and email so the realtor can reach out to me and follow up. We did not share my contact info but sent a link to find out where they are operating out of and turns out it’s FortWorth TX. We are on the northeast coast.
Then, just today, he had two more people arrive again for the open house. There was a text conversation inviting them to the house my partner owns and currently lives in for an Open House. We tried looking up the number but it seems to be a fake (of course.)
Has anyone had an issue like this or knows if anything more can be done than just filing a police report. It’s concerning having more people show up and a person actively inviting strangers to an Open House.
TLDR; someone posted my partners house on Facebook marketplace for renting and actively setting up open houses via text.

2024.06.09 23:23 Prior_Ad_8406 Chime Checking Account $345 Bonus ($100 Refer bonus+$245 Swagbucks)

Link: https://chime.com/fengkaiwu
It is a checking account that offers a $100 bonus if you use my link for the application! Really appreciate it!
Some details on it
To get a $100 bonus, you need to make a valid direct deposit of $200+ within 45 days. You will get your bonus instantly after you make the direct deposit. You can also make fake direct deposits from banks (check this link for Data points: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Chime).
Chime partners with The Bancorp Bank, N.A. and Stride Bank, N.A., both FDIC members. That means the deposits in your accounts through Chime are protected up to the FDIC coverage limit.
If you use Swagbucks, you can activate Swagbucks button at the link to get an additional 24500 SB($245). According to Swagbucks, you need to finish the following:
Set up two direct deposits of more than $200. The first one needs to be within 30 days of account opening.
Allow up to 70 days from the date of the first direct deposit to get 24000SB. (Attention: I highly recommend you save evidence such as the offer page in case you need to contact the Swagbucks Help Center!) I will clip one below for your reference.
Some DPs say you can double-dip these two by first using the Swagbucks link to open and ask customer service to apply the bonus to your account by providing the referrer's info(name and email). You can try using this method.
I personally think it is a decent deal. Please let me know if you have more questions, thanks in advance for using my link!

2024.06.09 23:22 Honeysyedseo How Our Solo Sales Rep Closed 45 Clients in 6 Months

Agency sales is simple when you break it down...
Generate interest -> call -> follow up -> close
Seems simple on paper, right?
Well.. obviously this isn't always the case in practice,
Which is why I want to help.
Let's dive in.
The first part is the call itself.
So your campaigns are printing sales calls, and the interest is there..
Now what?
It's time to take the sales call, preferably on Zoom if possible.
Make sure they show up to the call
On the call, we like to take a consultative approach.
Dig deep in the discovery part of the call,
And show them you understand exactly where they're at with their business and where they're looking to go.
Basically, show them you give a shit.
Having a script can be helpful for call structure, but avoid reading off one.
Doing role plays with a business partner and a friend will get you comfortable enough to not need a script.
Once you learn enough about the prospect's biz,
Decide if you want to make them an offer.
This is important...
Only make offers to prospects that are truly a good fit,
You'll save yourself a bunch of time and headaches later on.
It can be tempting to sign any and everyone initially, but stay disciplined and wait for the right fit.
If the prospect doesn't need any more info and they're ready to sign,
Get the contract to them ASAP and be persistent in your follow-ups until it's closed!
If the close is going to require another call, MAKE SURE you lock in a time on the call.
Locking a time in while you're on the call is so important...
If you wait until after, you may never hear from them again and miss out on the opportunity.
Time kills deals.
If they need more info on the call,
Ask them what they'd like to see and send them a resource that relates to what they want, rather than an info dump that will overwhelm them.
Sometimes, even with a great offer, you may not see a high close rate.
Here's how we overcome that.
In our follow ups, we help prospects visualize success.
Here's how:
More on the last point...
We often an ROI calculator, a tool we created, to show the prospect what results they can expect from working with us...
All the #s (revenue, close rate, retainer size) are based on what they told us on the call, so it's extremely relevant to them.
We communicate this to them with a Loom video follow up,
Which works great to refresh their memory on the conversation and show them we took the time to send them a video.
Once you start scaling, it can be tough to keep track of these follow ups...
Which is why using a CRM religiously is non-negotiable.
We use PipeDrive to segment prospects into
For each of our offers.
To wrap up, how do we track sales success at our agency?
We track KPIs for
The two we pay attention to are show and close rates.
We aim for a 30%+ close rate and a 90%+ show rate,
Which we've hit consistently..
This can be done using a simple Google Sheet :)
Sales can be daunting without a system in place,
So I hope this has given you some value on how to dial in your sales process and scale your agency in the process.

2024.06.09 23:21 kmrniqbl UPSTOX - Do not Invest, Worst Customer Support.

This is a repost from the other sub.
Context - This post is an update to my previous post in this sub - Upstox ruined my ELSS Investments
22****nd March,2024 - I receive an email updating that my bank modification request has been done successfully, after which I made an investment on Upstox worth 1.3 Lakhs under ELSS Scheme for 5 mutual funds. My friend did the same but on Groww.
The next 3 days are Holidays - 23rd, 24th, 25th of March (Holi)
26****th March,2024 - Receive an update from UPSTOX for only one mutual fund AMC(Quant) and no updates for the rest. I contacted Upstox regarding an update over their given customer support number - but nobody picked up for the first 2 times. Finally, I get connected with their agent after 15 minutes of teleprompts.
Their agent gave me the standard reply - to wait T-2 days. I asked for an email confirmation of this conversation which they didn't provide. I opened a ticket with them regardless.
For the next 2 days, I emailed and tried to connect with them several time regarding an update. The app showed no updates on the order status, it was stuck on processing.
28****th March,2024 - The last day of the financial year to make an investment. I received an update from AMC (Quant) that units have been credited. No updates from UPSTOX or AMCs for the other 4 orders. After trying to connect with them over the phone, I wrote my final email.
I knew my investment was not placed. Internally, I make an investment in another MF for 1,000 rupees well before 2pm (UPSTOX's cutoff time to allot me the NAV date of 28thMarch). I wanted to test something which later I'll mention here.
I make this Reddit post and forget about it after multiple interactions with community. Learned a lot about investment and mistakes in general.
On the same day, u/UpstoxSupport comments on my post and I receive a call on the same day.
The Call with Agent 1 - They inquire about my issue and directly gives a reference to my reddit post. I was surprised on how they were able connect with me using my Reddit post on which they replied it was done internally. After a long conversation, they admitted it was an issue from their side which was the Bank Update was not done timely from the BSE side, hence the orders got failed. According to them, BSE gave them an update the bank was successfully updated to my Demat Account. Accordingly, they sent out a confirmation email.
I complained about their poor customer support, no updates and replies to emails. Also pointed out how their infrastructure could make such blunder.
After some more conversation, they themselves proposed to "make things right" by offering me compensation for me loses only and only if, I delete my reddit post.
Hearing this I was infuriated. They wanted to save their image instead of actually addressing the issue. All the support was only because of Reddit post. I give it to the agent. After apologising, they promise to reach out to me again. I even asked them for an email confirmation of this conversation, which they didn't provide me.
After 2 days, I received another call after I wrote to them again.
The Call with Agent 2 - They again inquire about the same issue. The agent tried to give me reasons and excuses on how the orders got failed. They again brought up the compensation for the loss and wanted to discuss the specifics internally over the call. After brief discussion, they promised to reach out again. This time they did sent out an email regarding the call upon asking.
Few days had passed by, I was contacted by multiple people including their compliance head or someone. They called me at an interval of 2-3 days, and very laidback attitude now. Here are some collective points discussed which tells the whole story -
They have no idea of how NAV Date works, and how it is calculated. They tried to misinform me after I raised concern for my NAV date. After educating them, they apologised to me for being misinformed.
They are putting the whole blame on BSE telling how it was their fault for incorrectly updating UPSTOX. I find a lot of discrepancies which I told them openly.
After agreeing to provide them several documents from my employer which consisted of specifics of my income for compensation and loses calculation, to further delay the process - they wanted my ITR filing. I disagreed to provide them.
I've stopped receiving communication from them over the email or calls. The last communication I got was 2 months back, now I only get automated emails.
After talking to several agents, I'm tired of chasing after them. I've suffered huge losses because of them.
Their customer support has openly lied to me about how NAV date works, providing misinformation to me. Upon correcting them, they apologise.
They sent a confirmation email that my bank details were updated when it was not. According to them, BSE sent them the false confirmation. (Time to include BSE into this as well).
The MF order I placed on 28th of 1000 INR got allotted the NAV date of 1st April and not 28th March. The reason? My bank details were not updated after they themselves admitted it takes maximum of 48 hours to get updated, which is only 26th March. Also, if my bank details weren't updated, how did this order get a placed for the next business day, and not the other orders. This order should have failed as well along with others They couldn't provide an answer for the same.
They have stopped replying to me email. No support from them whatsoever, even on their X (Twitter) support team for almost 2 months now.
I refrained myself from taking any actions as they were already communicating. Now I plan on taking this further. I've already talked to my lawyer friend for better guidance. I see several routes I can take to hold them responsible...consumer court, SEBI, BSE, etc. Seeing my original post, I was reached out by a Youtuber, to share my story which I refrained from doing so, now I think people should talk about this.
This is how UPSTOX is as a platform.
Is there something else I can do to hold them liable and talk?

2024.06.09 23:15 Vaguy1993 Mohela did not follow through with Opt Out

Looking for any advice. My wife received her golden email for her undergraduate loans. She called to Opt out since she was consolidating all of her loans (undergrad and graduate) and they said the forgiveness would not be processed. She just received an email a couple of days ago saying the undergraduate loans were forgiven and they show zero dollars. Unfortunately the consolidation is still in process. I am thinking Mohela just torpedoed her opportunity for forgiveness of her graduate loans.
Also does anyone else have trouble finding Mohela emails in GMAIL? They never seem to be there when she looks but show up in searches.

2024.06.09 23:05 ArabRising Complicated discrimination EEOC Case Can't find Attorney EEOC dropped inquiry for whichever reason appealing to no avail

So I have a horrible discrimination case of abuse and retaliation where according to title VII of The Civil Rights Act I was discriminated against due to my race, and ethnicity I was discriminated as well due to the basis of my disability. Jump forward to a malicious interogation in February I file that very day and get an inquiry with the EEOC for June 03 2024 fast forward till almost that time I confirm everything in the portal in enough time and low and behold I get a message 3 days before saying they have canceled my appointment.
Being visually impaired and nearly unable to navigate the portal I call every number even leaving voicemails to explain local and and national EEOC office I even file an appeal with the correct contacts through email back door contacts I found and the office appeal form online. I was denied with the regional Miami appeal office yet the reason given was they said the inquiry was open in Tampa office and I was given the contact of the person by email only. Of course it still said denied so what do I do
This employer traumatized me I was abused maliciously interrogated abused in a prayer garden and apparently it wasn't the case I was the victim of a cruel prank where I became injured in a shallow grave of the "prayer garden"(they even made announcements on the intercom of it) I had my Keffiyeh ripped off my head. I received a letter of caution intimidating I was a threat to the institution I worked at because I associated with ISIS.
I am the second one to step forward same institution they took the other lady's claim no one will help me with mine and I have additional proof. The letter of caution was made out to both of us however I also have recordings where I was accused of things I didn't do in these forced interrogations.
I had also recorded some of the kids I took care of with parents permission to clear my name I was accused of asulting a child that my co-worker is assigned to and told that I sent a letter of such to the superintendent however I was in charge of my own kid and that particular day I arrived to school later I had a doctors appointment. From being spat on touched by the Principal and another teacher and abused I'm suffering from PTSD and was prescribed medication for chronic nightmares.
I was terminated back in March by the same Principal from my assignment but my company never terminated me they don't believe I did anything wrong. I've been in a soft lay off for the last few months I was jointly employed. I'm the third person this year of minority status to be treated like this all three of us of some sort of Arab descent or Muslim faith. This happened in Florida. Many times I was denied prayer times and was spied on by admin during my lunch breaks.
What do I do? I have even reached out to my local county FEPA and never even recieved a follow up response no surprise since I'm guessing it's conflict of interest with the county educational institution. When I specify at the beginning of my post can't find an attorney I meant that no one calls me back I've left voice mails. I'm having chronic nightmares nightly and reliving this trauma everyday. I have no quality of live anymore. I have to now see a psychiatrist regularly.

2024.06.09 23:04 decembrist11 Docusign Email Question

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone has received the DocuSign within the last week? I got the call 2 Wednesdays ago, followed up with the individual who called me and they said they will follow up with the superior as they're super backed up. Been over a week and a half and nothing.
For shits and giggles I applied again after the updated website and got a call instantly on this Wednesday with a different number and email and still nada.
Just kind of weird they say expect the email and then silence. How hard can a DocuSign be? Maybe they have all contestants but why still make these calls at the end of last week?

2024.06.09 23:01 sisterwilderness Difficulty recovering from confusing/bad therapy (long read)

A long read, may have posted bits of this already months back but still struggling. I really appreciate anyone who has the time to read and comment.
Last year I was seeing a “trauma informed integrative creative arts therapist” at $225 a week out of pocket. I was only able to swing it because my insurance offers 80% reimbursement for out of network benefits, and I was in dire straights and needed specialized help. I chose her because her Psychology Today profile, website and public social media made her seem more sophisticated and knowledgeable than the vast majority of therapists in my area by a long shot. I was already using art as a means of therapeutic self expression so I was excited to try her integrative art therapy approach. Through her professional (?) social media I was able to see that we both liked the same kinds of plants, music, similar political leanings, interest in ecology and environmentalism, and fashion. She’s very beautiful, well read, well spoken and charismatic. Prior to seeing her I had a string of therapists that were utterly useless and couldn’t help me, and I felt like I’d finally found the one. She said some things during our first session that stood out to me. “I’m not here to pass judgement.” Good! But then, “Well, I mean, everyone passes judgment, we’re all human.” I wasn’t sure what to make of that but I just overlooked it. Then she said, unprompted “people just come up to me and tell me about their lives” with a very self congratulatory tone. My immediate thought was that this woman must have some kind of magic touch. Surely she’d help me.
And she did! Somehow during that time I felt significantly better, which baffles me because she also hurt me badly. I spent the next 18 months on a rollercoaster ride with her. She contradicted herself often. She self disclosed needlessly, and seemed to be imposing her worldview. We misunderstood each other to a degree I’ve never experienced with anyone else in my entire life, but I figured I must just be stupid or crazy. She made unprompted statements like “I’m reeeeally good at what I do”, “I’ve had many clients who are extremely wealthy”, and when she heard what my salary is she audibly gasped and said “I pay my babysitters more than that! Oh my god!”. She was exceptionally ignorant on matters of economic class, though she would say otherwise. It was very clear to me through her unprompted self disclosures that she is wealthy, traveled the world several times over since childhood, and only had a very superficial awareness of how the other half lives. All of her statements regarding money made me feel smaller than an ant. I told her that I hope to own a home one day because my partner has the privilege of getting an inheritance someday. When I said a number she flat out said “that’s not feasible.” It actually is, she just couldn’t imagine it. When I spoke of my desire to be a mom all she did was talk about how expensive kids are because they need camp and a good pre school etc. I described to her that I grew up lower class and lack of camp is not what fucked me up (lol) and that lots of kids are still happy and healthy even without rich parents. She got really weird after that, like she didn’t know how to respond. She also said “we started ours at 2 because we value early education” as though people who can’t afford to send their kids to fancy private preschools don’t value early education just as much. It’s just inaccessible to them. I forget the context but she once said about me and my husband “I know you guys are like socialists or whatever, but
” while rolling her eyes, but I’d never once mentioned my political affiliation. During one session, she went on this weird monologue about how “scientists are proving that reality isn’t real” and “reality is different for everyone” when I tried talking about the gaslighting I experienced as a child. It was so bizarre. I asked her if she thought I had BPD and she said no because if I did I’d be using a lot more black and red colors in my art
.!!??!??! She had me read The Untethered Soul, which was okay but to truly implement its teachings one would have to have basic financial stability. She acknowledged this but used the example of “a mom with five kids in the Bronx” as the kind of person who wouldn’t get much out of the books contents. I felt like saying “or young people who live right here in our town like me and most of my friends, actually.” I am sure I was her poorest client, just lucky enough to have a government job that provided insurance with OON benefits. Still, the reimbursements came in very slow, and I regularly gave her my very last dime until the next pay day. I relied on her to email me receipts to submit to my insurance company which I needed to remind her to do literally every time.
Now here’s where it gets real bad. I was having issues with my husband so she had us sign waivers so she could talk to his therapist. She told me she wouldn’t be able to tell me the contents of their discussions, which makes perfect sense. Except she did. A lot. And it turned out she exaggerated and possibly outright lied. The advice she gave me always lead to further conflict with my husband. I was confused because what she said his therapist said didn’t match up with what HE said his therapist was saying to him. It got to a point where I was put in a position to have to lie to my husband: either I tell him what his therapist allegedly said about him to my therapist, destroying his trust in him, or I lie. I wasn’t willing to do either of those things.
I decided I’d had enough, so I wrote her an email that was very direct but not unkind in any way. I needed to make her aware that the dynamic she created with my husband and his therapist was harmful, that her remarks about money alienated me, and that I had reminded her a total of three times to send me a receipt for reimbursement and that I should not be responsible for having to remind her again. We had our session the following day, and it left me in tears and feeling crazy. She denied that she broke confidentiality (I have it in a text message so nice try), said “who are you to school me on economics” with a really mean tone, and basically berated me for an hour while I sat there crying. It was INSANE. I never went back. I never reported her.
Since then I haven’t been able to shake it despite working with a wonderful new therapist. I am stuck on how strangely charismatic she was, that I never regretted giving her my last dime even though she made me feel bad, and somehow she also made me feel sort of high? I thought she was so cool, and she seemed to think I was cool. I am sure there was countetransference to a degree. In hindsight there were a lot more red flags. She would talk about “clean eating” and remark that American food is poisoned and gluten is bad etc. all unprompted and out of her scope of practice. She used a lot of new age lingo despite me telling her that didn’t resonate. Made a lot of comments about her own opinions and worldview on various topics. Her social media is very much all her, photos and videos of her, it just seems like she wants to be somebody’s guru. Her history doesn’t line up either - she claims she has 21 years experience as a therapist but told me she’d left the field for a while and worked in fashion for a time, but she’s not old enough for that to add up unless she literally only took a few months hiatus which I guess is possible.
The weird thing is, I spent months thinking she was the best person. I did feel better in terms of my self confidence when it came to expressing myself
but in hindsight it wasn’t her, it was me. I did all that work. Maybe it was the art. But why did I give her so much of what little money I had for so long? Why did I stay on that roller coaster? Put up with her contradictions and unethical behavior? I literally feel like I left a tiny cult.
The contrast between her and my current therapist is wildly stark. My current therapist is refreshingly boring and I know next to nothing about her. She has no public social media presence. She never makes me feel judged or bad about myself, ever. Shes also out of network but SHE submits the receipts to my insurance company FOR ME and waits for them to pay her the full amount
. And I just give her my copay. I didn’t even know an out of network provider could do that. Now therapy is truly accessible to me.
I still don’t know what to make of what happened. Unfortunately I have to see my ex-therapist as she is a frequent patron where I work, and I found out she has a new office literally a block from my home. It’s in a little cottage on the grounds of the Unitarian church I used to belong to and was thinking of going back
 welp, not anymore. Ugh.
She fucked with my mind and I am still messed up from it. Her public persona is somehow troubling to me, like it’s fake and she’s trying to reel people in. Something about her “coolness” and palpable overconfidence is very off-putting. Cult leader-like. I’m embarrassed to keep bringing it up to my current therapist because I have so many other BIG issues to work on, and I feel like I should have let this go.

2024.06.09 23:00 chickyparmyarn My house up for rent on FB Marketplace

Any sort of advice or stories are welcome. Thanks in advance!

2024.06.09 22:57 Additional_Mark_8917 Quitting first job post grad- Advice needed!

Need advice on how to quit my first job out of college.
My only experience quitting is leaving a resignation notice on the desk of my Target manager in High school or telling my babysitting families that I’m moving away. So i have no idea what i’m doing.
The job i have now is absolute shit. it is remote and I only took it because my dad works there and I couldn’t find a job after graduating. I am going back to school in the fall so I plan to quit mid august
the busiest month for my company. I am on a team with just one other person so they are really going to struggle without me. It’s going to take them a while to find a replacement for me because it took them a year to fill the position i’m in now. I have been thinking about giving more than a two week notice because I’d hate to screw over the other person on my team and i highly doubt they’d fire me before my planned last day but my dad is saying only give two weeks and he’s the one staying at the company (different department) so i have been following his advice.
I have also been thinking about lying about my reason to leave. I recently moved to the town of my new college and literally the only thing here is the college. so when my coworkers asked why I moved, i told them it was because i had friends in grad school here and the rent was more affordable. of course they had already googled the town and were suspicious of me leaving and going to school here. I’d hate for them to know that i’ve been lying to them this long.
I was thinking about telling them that i was offered a better paying position elsewhere with more work life balance to maybe make the company rethink the pay and hours to make it better for the next person that gets my position. Currently, I have to work until 7:30 at night because i’m in Vermont and my company is on CA time and I can’t take off any fridays because my coworker doesn’t work on Fridays. I am not being paid a livable wage. I figured this might kill two birds with one stone, maybe make it better for the next person and my coworkers wouldn’t know that i have been planning to leave for months and wouldn’t take it out on my dad.
Lastly, do I send my resignation email before or after my meeting with my manager? What does a resignation email even look like? tbh i’m just scared to bring it up to my manager which i obviously know i’ll have to get over but any advice about that is very much appreciated. But i think if she knew i was quitting before the meeting it might be easier for me, but i wasn’t sure if that was the appropriate way to go about it.
any advice is very much appreciated! Thank you!

2024.06.09 22:56 HardcoreHenryLofT [5e][Online][English][AST][Homebrew] No Small Quest for the Big of Heart! Low/Dark Fantasy, mix of lighthearted roleplay and fantastic horror!

Expeditions North: No Small Quest
Hook: It has been 122 years since the Sixth Collapse covered the North in dangerous magical energies. The surviving population has finally stabilized into the still-habitable lands of the South, founding a handful of states along the coast and among the islands. The North has recently become survivable, at least in the short term, and the major players are all seeking their share. Remnants of once world-spanning empires looking to reclaim lost glory, upstart new kingdoms seeking power and legitimacy, opportunistic and wealthy merchant guilds seeking new venues for profit. Everyone who can afford to is funding enormous hundred-man strong exploration parties known as Expeditions North. The pay is astounding, the dangers doubly so, and the chance of returning unscarred are nearly zero, but the skilled and the desperate enlist all the same.
You don't work for those guys.
You are a newly hired adventurer of No Small Quest, the smallest and strangest Expedition that sends not 100-man endeavors, but instead 5-10 man parties into the North. Run by a mysterious person known only as the Old Woman, your organization takes requests to explore the North from those who can ill afford such an expensive service. The altruistic nature of No Small Quest and the low pay make it a hard sell for anyone but the kind of heart, or the shrewd of mind, for there is another unique feature of No Small Quest: unlike in a larger Expedition, you get to keep what you find.
Intended Vibes: The campaign will be a mix of light-hearted low fantasy hijinks, and tense dark fantasy exploration. Imagine if the protagonists of a slice-of-life story frequently dipped in and out of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
Desired Party Size: 4-6 Players.
How We Play: Roll20, using Discord for voice chat. All character sheets and rolling is done on Roll20, while notes and documents can be handled using either application.
When We Play: I do shift work, and thus do not have a single reliable day/time to play. Close to the end of the month I will post my available days on a google doc, and the party will mark which days they are free and could play. Any days with at least four free players will be considered a valid session, aiming for two a month.

2024.06.09 22:51 theCavemanV Personal finance book recommendation - No Worries by Jared Dillian

this is a counter cultural sub. In order to live in a counter-cultural fashion, it should surprise you that you should consider some counter cultural personal finance advice.
While this book wasn't written specifically for single income families, the author directed common personal finance misconceptions and philosophies that would benefit any individual who wishes to minimize their *financial stress*. This is a very important distinction from all the get rich quick books.
The following are my takeaways
Financial stress
You can be a billionaire with a lot of stress, or a making minimum wage but having little to no stress. Stress comes from your risk exposure, and your legal obligations.
Most important rule to remember: Personal finance is determined by the selected few big decisions you make, such as
Psychologically, it is much easier to forego large luxuries (a mega mansion) than small, inexpensive luxuries. Read the book to find out more.
How to minimize financial stress
How to manage your risk
The author provides a portfolio at the end of the book. I am not sharing it here because I'm not sure if I can. However, I can share that the author pointed out most conventional portfolios don't work IRL. The math works like so, buy the stock market index, and ride through the ups and downs. Eventually, you will profit. It is crucial to note that this doesn't happen IRL. The vast majority will panic buy selling the low, and only buying the high. The theoretical dollar cost averaging almost never happens.
Another idea that stands out to me: try to pay down your mortgage early.
Say you have a 6% mortgage. If you paid the principal early, you saved 6% interest down the road. That is a guaranteed 6% return. My personal interpretation is that this is also an insurance policy for yourself. You don't know what will happen in 30 years. Paying it down earlier rather than later is the sane thing to do. Paying only the minimum and investing in volatile assets are irrational.

2024.06.09 22:49 Wide-Ardz 2024 XSE w/ PP, 'current' prices and a couple questions

As a thank you to the community for helping in my buying experience, I want to share my numbers in California (similar to the CO lease buyout post) for others to follow and build their understanding. I also want to ask a couple of questions too. Questions and then details.
  1. Does everything on the Gross Cap Cost Itemization and Other Items page end up getting sales tax?
  2. Can someone explain the quoted buyout amount?
Details: Wanted XSE w/ PP. not too picky on the color. Didn't want all the extras (e.g., mudflaps, $70 phone charging cable kit, etc.). However, likely would have bit the bullet and bought with those things added (in the bad situation of needing a vehicle). And, still wanted to test drive it. (No trade-in; state sales tax rate is 7.75%)
A couple weeks ago before Memorial Weekend, found one (dark grey) in stock -- and it only had Weather Package ($375), PP ($2,585), and All Weather Floor Liners and Cargo Liner ($309) added to the base MSRP of $47,560 for total of $50,829.
MSRP: $50,829 Delivery, processing and handling fee: $1,350 Sticker total: $52,179
After test drive, gave a number and after the 'talk with manager' was accepted. (shoulda offered less I guess). $50k. We all just talked that it would be leased for the $6500 incentive. Lease was for 36 months, 10k miles/yr.
Finance person got us to agree to the extended warranty and maintenance plans. (There's a mistake on security package I'll highlight later) {{ Lesson Learned: Bring your own notebook to write everything being told in }}
Gross Cap Cost Itemization and Other Items (section 13) Agreed value: $50,000 Acquisition Fee: $ 650 Vehicle Service Agreement: $ 1,575 Prepaid Maintenance: $ 1,194 Reckledge - Theft: $ 499 Gross Capitalized Cost: $53,918.00
Now, the incentive and down payment page: (I put $5,000 down on a credit card, willing to take collision risk for the money back) Federal Consumer Leasing Act Segregated Disclosures box: (I don't think this box is important, is it?) 3. Amount Due at Lease Signing or Delivery: $11,500 4. Monthly Payments: $784.94 Total of your Monthly Payments (36 total): $28,257.84 5. Other Charges: Disposition fee (if you do not purchase the vehicle): $350 6. Total of Payments: $39,322.90
"Itemization of Amount Due at Lease Signing or Delivery" section
7 Amount Due at Lease Signing or Delivery: a. Capitalized Cost Reduction $ 9,208.09 b. First Monthly Payments $ 784.94 c and d: N/A e. Registration Fees $ 332.00 f. License Fees $ 328.00 g. Tax on Capitalized Cost Reduction: $ 713.63 {that's tax on the 9208.09} h. Acquisition Fee N/A i. Document Processing Fee (not a gov't fee) $ 85.00 j. DMV Electronic Filing Fee (not a gov't fee) $ 33.00 k. California Tire Fee $ 8.75 l. Upfront Tax on Fees $ 6.59 {that's tax on $85} p. Total $11,500.00 8 How the Amount Due at Lease Signing or Delivery will be Paid: a. Net Trade-In Allowance N/A b. Rebates and Noncash Credits $ 6,500.00 c, d, e: N/A f. Amount to be Paid in Cash $ 5,000.00 g. Total $11,500.00
Now: "Your Monthly Payment is determined as shown below" section
9 Payment Determination: a. Gross Capitalized Cost, see section 13 {above} $ 53,918.00 b. Capitalized Cost Reduction - $ 9,208.09 c. Adjusted Capitalzied Cost = $ 44,709.91 d. Residual Value - $ 29,742.00 e. Depreciation and any Amoritized Amoiunts = $ 14,967.91 f. Rent Charge + $ 11,257.20 g. Total of Base Monthly Payments = $ 26,225.11 h. Lease Payments / 36 i. Base Monthly Payment = $ 728.48 j. Monthly Sales / Use Tax + $ 56.46 k. N/A l. Total Monthly Payment ("Monthly Payment") = $ 784.94
Now, something different than most: There was a mistake and the $499 for security should not have been charge. After a discussion, dealer sent Toyota Financial (TFS) $537.68 (which is the $499 plus tax). So, my payment with TFS is listed as $247.26 (the $784.94-537.68) .
Called TFS for buyout and the email to start the process. The buyout amount is $43,814.60. Tax to be paid by me at the DMV when I register it.
Can anyone tell me how their number is calculated!? I can't get it to match the results of the formulas everyone posts.
Also, was told a wire transfer is not possible.
Hope this helps someone!

Height: 5’0”
Weight: 136 lbs
Birthday: May 8th
Age: 31
Favorite Food: Fish Head Stew
Favorite Color: Seafoam Green
Theme Songs: Mikky Ekko - Who Are You, Really?, Phantogram - Black Out Days

Backstory - Clearwater

The following spoiler warnings are for my campaigns group, except for Monet's player.
After leaving her old home in the ocean at 21, my character came to the surface and took on odd jobs like deep sea fishing and loading transport ships in Clearwater, a port city in my DM's homebrew world. During one of these jobs, a fisherman refused to pay her fairly, calling her "half fish." Being a barbarian and all, she wasn't going to take this lightly so in retaliation, she destroyed his ship and stole the anchor, which she now wields as her main weapon. This act caught the attention of the Iron Syndicate, who sought her out for her potential as a useful grunt.
Believing she was being recruited as an underground fighter, Nami signed a seven year contract with the Iron Syndicate, unaware they intended to use her as a discreet executioner to eliminate targets in their underground fighting ring to make deaths look accidental. Nami, as she was known outside the ring, adopted the fighting name "The Tsunami" and she became a niche underground fighter celebrity, popular with the dock workers at the wharf.
The Iron Syndicate provided her with an apartment by the wharf, where she spent her time learning how to fish and cook her catches. She starts by chopping off the fishes' heads, which she saves until she has enough to make her favorite dish, fish head stew. Next, she boils the fish to remove the skin, which she sets aside to later fry into crispy fish skin chips. She uses the fish meat to prepare a variety of dishes, including fish tacos, fish and chips, fisherman's breakfast, and sourdough bread bowl with seafood chowder. Nami spends much of her free time around the wharfs, forming strong friendships with the local fishermen. She also frequents a nearby tavern, where she often drinks and intervenes to stop fights that break out. Nami is fiercely upset by a scathing review of the tavern published in the newspaper, unaware that it was written by Monet, another member of their group.
As her reputation as a fighter grew, the Iron Syndicate decided it was time to use her for their true purpose, thinking that her established status would make any accidents look more believable. They tasked her with killing her next opponent in the ring, convincing her it was the lesser evil. In reality, the target was likely just a business rival. Trusting the organization, Nami went through with the kill but immediately regretted it afterward. Rumors started spreading about "The Tsunami's" strength and her lethal prowess in the ring, further adding to her reputation.
Some time after this event, Detective Monet, our Shadar-kai Divination Wizard from The Cursed Lands, began investigating the Iron Syndicate. However, her efforts were cut short when she was caught by the organization. Interrogated and providing little to no useful information, they deemed her expendable, as she was not officially affiliated with any faction but rather a freelancer. Consequently, the Iron Syndicate threw her into the ring as Nami’s next opponent, intending for her to meet her demise 'accidentally.'
However, burdened by guilt from the previous innocent death she caused, Nami sought out Monet before the match, grappling with her conscience. Sensing Nami's reluctance to commit murder, Monet devised a plan: Nami would stage a fatal blow to Monet, faking her death, allowing them to escape together afterward. Since then, Nami has been evading Iron Syndicate, knowing they would not take kindly to their celebrity fighter not completing her contract and helping an investigator escape with information on the Iron Syndicates criminal activities. By the start of the campaign, four months have passed since Nami fled from the Iron Syndicate, still owing five more years on her contract. During this time, she collaborated with Detective Monet on various cases.
The next spoiler warning is for my entire campaign group. I'M TALKING TO YOU MONET'S PLAYER. lol

Before Clearwater:

Nami, once known as Luculia Stormtide, grew up in a tight-knit triton community beneath the ocean's surface, locked in a conflict against malevolent elementals threatening to overrun the material plane. Her parents were humble kelp farmers, so Luculia had to work ecceptionally hard to become a paladin at the temple. After achieving her dream to be a paladin, she was on the cusp of a prestigious promotion, deeply committed to safeguarding her people. Alongside her dedication to duty, she nurtured a loving relationship with her longtime girlfriend, Nimue, a druid, and cherished the impending prospect of marriage with her.
However, tragedy struck when a deadly illness ravaged her community, leaving her no choice but to venture to the surface in search of aid. Despite saving her people by bringing a healer back, her actions breached a strict law prohibiting external contact, leading to her exile and the stripping of her identity and name, Luculia Stormtide. At the age of 21, she lost everything dear to her: her family, her beloved partner, her community, her status as a paladin, and even her ability to wield divine magic.
The betrayal she experienced has left Nami deeply scarred, fostering major trust issues. Reluctant to offer her help without assurances, she often insists on upfront payment before committing to any task, a measure to shield herself from further betrayal. She now expects everyone to cheat her, especially those who get close to her, such as Monet, since they can hurt her the most. Nami sometimes fantasizes about returning home to destroy various buildings, including the temple, but she refrains, as part of her still holds onto hope. Although Nami is now very cynical, she continues to live by the wharf near the ocean, hoping someone will return and welcome her back to her old home.
At the start of the campaign, it will mark a decade since Nami last laid eyes on her old home in the ocean, having embraced Clearwater as her new residence. Nimue, Nami's Fiancé, would hardly recognize the person Nami has become today. During the time she was known as Luculia, she epitomized femininity, kindness, loyalty, and quietude. However, exile and exploitation have left her jaded, indifferent to social decorum, distrusting, and prone to vulgarity.
About using my art: I am totally cool with you using this image for your own triton or fish person in your own private campaign! However, please do not claim the character design and art to be yours or use it for monetary gain. Thank you!

2024.06.09 22:41 adimanish Reception has lost my package

On Thursday, RM delivered a package- it was a special delivery 1 pm guarantee, so it was tracked and signed as well. The delivery location is also attached to the website, which is correct, and the item had a decent value. So I have had many packages and parcels delivered to me over the year and never had any problem with reception whatsoever, and they are quite cooperative as well. I went there, no sign of my package, we usually get the email but I didn't so I told them if they can check the back and they did, they went as far as opening all the PO boxes to make sure there wasn't a mistake made. My contract ends soon, and the seller told me to lodge a police complaint- I am an international student and quite hesitant about any sort of beef with my university as well as the stress of following up, but I did see a compliant form on my university's website, which I am thinking of filling out. What should I do? How can I handle this situation? It would be of great help if anyone knew how I could navigate through this and possibly retrieve my package.

2024.06.09 22:39 Specialist-Flow-2591 Always CYA

Hi, Does any remeber in grad school that it was ponded into our heads "If it's not documented, it didn't happen." The professors were saying CYA because you never know when a client will bring accusations against you. They always talked about this being an issue with the client. What they forgot to teach us and didn't teach us is to document every single interaction with employers and supervisors.
I noticed a few posts on horrific situations in which a supervisor denied saying anything or having knowledge of something.
In general, I would say most of us are trusting and would rather have a face to face conversation about things with our supervisor. However, I want you to be aware and maybe give some tips to new therapists and those who have been working for companies. What follows may sound cynical but it is to protect your licesence and you.
This is what I have learned. ALWAYS CYA with employers and supervisors. How do you do this? Put everything, including verbal conversations in an email and then email or bcc a copy to your personal non work email. Then forward all responses to your personal email. An employer will lock you out of your work email if they fire you and you won't have a paper trail to show if you don't forward it. (personal preference is bcc first email and then forward response and bcc all further communication)
How do you document verbal communication? 1.) Send a summary email and always say I'm just want to follow up on our conversation today and make sure I understand what was talked about or said about xyz situation. 2.) State only the facts in the email, don't use emotional words or how you felt. (Trust me this will save you if they fire you for doing what they told you to do.) 3.) Ask questions and seek clarification such as I understood from our conversation about xyz that you recommend that I do xyz, is that correct? 4.) If it something that you disagree with put your proposed solution or action regarding the xyz you talked about. And send the email. 5) Never use client specific information in the email as it may be something you have to use in court. Use a MRN or initial when referring about a client.
Next, always carry liability insurance even if the company says they cover that. They don't, the insurance is to protect the company not you and their lawyers will hang you out to dry.
I have more but I don't have time finish this. Will do so later.

2024.06.09 22:38 TempusCarpe The Confirmed Hoax Fallacy

The Confirmed Hoax Fallacy
The Confirmed Hoax Fallacy An Old Argument Raises Its Ignorant Head Yet Again TEMPORAL RECON JUN 8
I was recently invited to write an essay by someone who I respect greatly in their own personal search for truth. He asked that, while an update to Conviction of a Time Traveler is not necessarily in the offing, he did wonder if I might be amenable to a friendly reminder of the evidence provided in COATT nearly a decade ago now.
What spurred his request was that he had noticed recently that several people online had been echoing the ‘confirmed hoax’ trope when discussions would might around to the John Titor series of posts which occurred online back in 2000/2001.
His noticing of this false argument was nothing new; I had also noticed it crop up from time to time over the last 20 years. I hold the ‘confirmed hoax’ argument in special and particular disdain. Why?
Primarily because evidence exists and was provided in Conviction of a Time Traveler in 2009 that Titor was legitimate and, ironically enough, was read by many of the so-called experts espousing the ‘confirmed hoax’ lie. So when these fake experts tell you that the Titor story was a ‘confirmed hoax,’ they are lying to you.
Conviction of a Time Traveler provided new and original evidence that has never, to date, been debunked since its publication; a full 14 years. The evidence provided (which many of these lazy forum participants are aware of) pointed to one, inexorable and inescapable conclusion: Titor was legit. But this evidence, while never disproven, is always ignored. Why is that? We’ll put a pin in that

Ironically, not only has the evidence documented in Conviction of a Time Traveler never been debunked, but it has also even been plagiarized by lazy authors who can’t be bothered to do original research or, lacking the intellectual horsepower necessary to do even that, fail to provide appropriate attribution to their source material.
So what of this, ‘Confirmed Hoax’ claim? Is it true? HAS the John Titor episode actually been ‘confirmed’ as a hoax?
When someone in a position of pretend authority declares from their cardboard pedestal that the John Titor story is a ‘Confirmed Hoax,’ have you ever noticed they never provide the person who did the confirming?
“Confirmed hoax?” ‘Confirmed’ by whom, pray tell?
When the term ‘Confirmed Hoax’ is used, what imagery comes to mind? I dare say it implies that some sort of shadowy group of learned scholars sat around a big wooden table, carefully assessed and addressed the claims. All the evidence and counter-arguments were carefully measured while hidden away in some stone castle somewhere until a white puff of smoke curls over its stone-tiled rooftops, declaring to the world once and for all,
“Our confirmation is complete. John Titor was a hoax!”
Bullshit.
Here’s the dirty little secret of the ‘Confirmed Hoax’ statements: they are actually shorthand for,
“I don’t have the intellectual capacity to argue in favor or against, so in order to come off like some sort of authority and maintain my fake position of authority, I’ll just take the safest position and simply declare that the Titor story is a hoax, that it was ‘confirmed’ and let’s please just move on to some other topic.”
‘Confirmed Hoax,’ is a coward’s gambit, a bet, that there won’t be anyone to come along to rock the boat and topple these posers off their flimsy stage of pretend authority.
This was the environment I walked into when I first published Conviction of a Time Traveler in 2010, and apparently, it hasn’t changed in 15 years.
When I first posted on Paranormalis (IIRC) announcing that I had written a book that documented the evidence in favor of Titor’s veracity, the then-reigning Titor authority (‘Darby’) haughtily pronounced, “Present your evidence and we’ll discuss it.”
Share
It was in that moment that I chose a path that nobody before me had ever embarked upon. I said, “No.”
Nobody had ever said ‘no’ before. There are pages and pages of forum posts by people before me who discovered some of the same bits and pieces that I discovered that pointed to Titor’s truth. And they were excited to show what they had discovered! And, owing to their excitement, and unfortunately, their naivete, they excitedly shared their evidence, wrongfully believing that the forums’ leadership was interested in getting to the bottom of the Titor episode.
Little did they suspect that ‘Darby’ and others were acting as gatekeepers of truth, whose sole purpose was to establish and maintain a lid on the narrative that was the John Titor episode. He, and his ilk gaslighted and bullied these poor naifs into silence by using their fake authority to debunk and explain away the very real evidence they had discovered.
That is, until COATT was published.
Unfortunately for these enemies of Truth, the internet is forever. In my research leading up to the publication of Conviction of a Time Traveler, I had the benefit of not only studying Titor’s posts, but also all the follow-on discussions after their departure.
I reviewed literally years of online forum content and, as I did so, I made a very curious observation: in all the years of discussion after Titor departed, not one piece of evidence ever (ever) caused ‘Darby’ or any of the other fake authorities to question their ‘it’s a hoax!’ position. They NEVER saw a piece of evidence that they didn’t dismiss, mock, ignore or explain away with contortions of logic that would make Wetzel’s Pretzels blush. This is in stark contrast to how someone who was truly in search of truth would act.
If ‘Darby’ and the others truly were curious, isn’t this a little odd? Really? Not ONE piece of evidence ever caused ‘Darby’ to pause and say, “hmm, that’s interesting
”
Not once, ever.
And there are years of forum posts to confirm this.
So, when Darby commanded from his perch of fake authority that I ‘present my evidence so that we might discuss it’ I laughed in his face [paraphrasing],
“No. A real discussion of the evidence hasn’t occurred here for years, and I do not recognize your so-called position as some sort of ‘expert’ on the Titor story. LITERALLY EVERYTHING there is to learn, or study, is published in the Titor posts for all to read. You hold no special knowledge, no special position, no special nothing. I do not submit to your fake authority. You want to learn about Titor, read the book.”
Or words to that effect, anyway

In the end, the evidence provided in COATT was so unassailable and the argument so solid that ‘Darby’ and his ilk suddenly became more and more quiet as they slowly realized I wasn’t going to wilt under their “authoritay.” Eventually, they slinked away with their rhetorical tails tucked.
But this was not the end of the story! Because ‘time travel’ had become quite the pet interest of mine (owing to the further evidence I discovered after publication), that I continued to post online in various discussion forums. I even wrote numerous essays on a variety of topics, all spurred on by the ‘time travel’ question and all its implications.
Fast Forward Fast forwarding to today, we’re back at the ‘confirmed hoax’ argument again. What was once offered up (“HOAX!”) by Darby and others, is now cold soup served by the latest crop of fake authorities. And what happens when fake authority utters the ‘Confirmed Hoax’ discussion-brake? The same thing that happened a decade ago: the earnest neophyte shrugs their shoulders secure in the false belief that others smarter than they have studied the topic and arrived at some irrefutable conclusion; no further discussion necessary (or allowed). They have no idea just how close they came to uncovering something truly fantastic, had they only relied on their own judgment instead of the know-nothing proclamations of others.

Which brings me to why I wrote COATT in the first place. Instead of simply doing my research and arriving at my own (private) conclusion, I realized that too many people were believing fake authority and ignoring Titor’s warnings about our future. Once I realized that Titor was legitimate (caveated, of course), how could I NOT share my findings? The stakes were simply too high.
IF what Titor said were true 24 years ago, that the world was heading for an upending change in the status quo, and that many people would die as a result of it, how could I remain silent and not inform others that his warnings were something to be listened to? Perhaps people with ears to hear might take heed and make the appropriate preparations. I know I did.
But, as my friend has informed me, it appears that the fake experts have reared their ugly and useless heads once again telling us that there is ‘nothing to the Titor story’ and that it is a “confirmed hoax.”
THIS was the reason that I was recently asked to provide my evidence once again. And THIS is the reason this essay is dragging on. These pretenders to authority are like roaches; as soon as the exterminator leaves, they come out of the woodwork intent on dismantling the Truth once again. God’s work never ends, it seems, even with a 99% success rate

So, now that we’ve got all THAT out of the way, and as a sort of transition, I’d like to bring you up to speed on what I’ve been up to since I published Conviction of a Time Traveler in 2010.
To be perfectly frank, after COATT’s publication, I thought I was done with the Titor story; I had said my piece and was perfectly willing to move on with my life and prepare for the event that causes the change in the status quo. But the annoying fact was that the Titor story itself didn’t end with the cessation of Titor’s posts in 2001.
As new evidence appeared in the months and years following publication, like dog shit on my shoe that I can’t scrape off, I could never cleanly cleave myself from the Titor story. Not that I wanted to, mind you, it is a fascinating topic, regardless of your opinion.
But what surprised me the most was that new evidence continued to appear, year after year. And, as more evidence appeared, my curiosity was consistently kept piqued and on alert. Trust me, it is exhausting.
To give you a sense of what I discovered, I can tell you that your experts are wrong and that ‘time travel’ is neither novel nor unusual; we are very literally awash in ‘time travelers.’ My research suggests that ‘time machines’ have been present in our past going as far back as 850AD. But I digress.

Suffice it to say that the Titor rabbit hole is but one example of a massively large group of programs from an unknown number of organizations from across time. The ‘time travel’ question runs much deeper (and much farther back in time) and crosses over into more (so-called) esoteric topics than anyone gives it credit for. As I said, it’s exhausting.
My whole point here is that, even after I published in 2009, my curiosity in the topic (and its implications of yet larger vistas) did not wane. And, because of this continued and unabating curiosity, I discovered yet more evidence, crafted more theories and came to more conclusions.
A philosopher once described the acquisition of new information as an ever-expanding circle surrounding the man; a horizon where known and unknown meet where new answers only beget new questions which push the circle farther and farther out. This has been my experience over the last 15 years re the Titor narrative and the larger ‘time travel’ question. How could it be otherwise?
Unfortunately for you, you are being convinced by fools that the Titor episode is a ‘Confirmed Hoax.’ You haven’t even made the leap to the possibility that ‘time travel’ is even possible. How can you explore the implications of ‘time travel’ when you can’t even consider its reality, a fundamental starting point? I have a very strong (ehem) conviction that our collective naĂŻvetĂ© on the subject will be violently revoked in the very near ‘future.’
The Two Camps, The Two Mistakes During my research, I observed that within the Titor commentariat there are two basic camps: the Debunkers and the True Believers.
The Debunking camp will provide any contortion of logic to maintain the ‘Titor was a hoax’ narrative.
The True Believers, on the other hand, will believe any contortion of logic that maintains their belief in The Gospel of John.
What if I told you both camps were wrong?
Now, the debunking camp will tell you that Titor must be a hoax because his predictions didn’t come true. Oh, well
his predictions didn’t come true? I guess we’re done then? Obviously, his whole purpose for posting was to make predictions like some Magic Eight Ball, right? And if those don’t pan out, well, ‘CONFIRMED HOAX!’
Get the Book
On the other side of that coin, the True Believers out there, who never saw a confirmation bias they didn’t love, will tell you that Titor’s predictions didn’t come true because he changed the future. This of course is a recipe for explaining away literally any detracting evidence thus making Titor true no matter any evidence to the contrary.
Let’s take the True Believers first:
The concept of Divergence, while a handy explanation, does not/cannot explain all differences in histories away. In fact, were what Titor said was true (remember, we are True Believers for the moment and are taking Titor’s words as gospel) he absolutely must take measures to minimize divergence as much as possible and NOT allow it to span wildly. Otherwise, the entire power of the ‘time machine’ is rendered moot. I accept that Divergence is likely a real measurement necessary for the efficient execution of ‘time travel’ missions, but it should, by no means, be the magic skeleton key to explain away every question.
In fact, while divergence is very likely a real ‘thing’ or artifact or measurement of difference between world lines, the Truth is that divergence must absolutely be kept to a minimum to make any practical use of the gravity engine sitting in the back seat of your old blue Geo Metro.
So, no. Divergence cannot be the handy tool we need to contort ourselves into believing, as much as we might like to.
Now for the debunkers:
The debunkers have a variety of options available to them to argue that Titor was a ‘confirmed hoax.’ Regardless, these arguments typically boil down to two primary classes:
He has special training or knowledge, and/or
He’s just a lucky guesser.
Unfortunately for the debunkers (and those who listen to them), these explanations make a very serious error: that predictions are a relevant metric to judge Titor’s truth at all. They are not.
Serious question: Why should a ‘time traveler’ be subject to the same metrics that a psychic is to determine if his claims of ‘time travel’ are true?
The point here is that you can’t compare a horse to a whale and complain that the horse can’t swim. They are two completely different animals, and the same goes for ‘time travelers’ and psychics or tarot readers or any other domain whose reputation is dependent on the true-ness of the information they provide. Comparing Titor’s predictions to actual, experienced history is also an imperfect and inappropriate metric if one is to objectively assess Titor from a blank slate starting point. This points to a much deeper insight into the true purpose of the Titor posts, but that’s for a different day.
So, because of both these problems, any real researcher worth their salt would have to find some other way to determine the truth/falsity of the Titor narrative.
Remember, when first approaching the Titor question as an objective investigator, Titor is both equally a hoax and legitimate. Imagine Schrodinger’s cat meets Columbo

I’ll give you this observation for free, just to get your juices flowing:
Did you notice that absolutely none of John’s predictions (event + date) came true, but all his statements concerning conditions about our future did?
Don’t you find this interesting? Or hadn’t you noticed, too blinded by the bright and shiny, attention-grabbing predictions of nuclear war?
But I am getting ahead of myself; we still haven’t provided the evidence that it’s simply more likely that Titor was an actual time traveler than some ‘hoaxer genius.’ And so we finally get to the whole point of this essay in the first place, a reminder and summary of the evidence first provided in Conviction of a Time Traveler all the way back in those halcyon days of 2010:
  1. Wireless Internet: Titor correctly predicted the advent of wireless internet when we were still using dial-up modems and America Online. Cable internet connections had only just been introduced.
“My closest friend raises horses and another works for a company that maintains “wireless” Internet nodes.”
– J. Titor, Nov 7, 2000
  1. YouTube becoming like ‘live theatre’: Titor correctly predicted the social evolution of YouTube and the decentralization of entertainment away from Hollywood evolving from short videos of grannies and cute kittens on Youtube to a sort of “live theatre” where actual shows would be presented by literally anyone, online, in a world that hadn’t even seen streaming services or video sharing services such as Rumble, etc.
“Yes, there is an entertainment industry. Again, it is very decentralized. The technology to express yourself with video is so readily available that many people do it all by themselves or in small groups. Much of the distribution is over the web. I would compare it theater here.”
-J. Titor
  1. IBM 5100 special capabilities: The statement that kicked everything off. Titor correctly identified the secret capabilities of the very first desktop computer manufactured by IBM in the 1970’s. These capabilities were utterly unknown and unacknowledged until Titor’s appearance in 2000. Interestingly, using this information, I was able to determine the most likely candidate of Titor’s grandfather which, upon this identification, also explained why Titor had to go all the way back to 1975 to pick up a copy of the 5100 and not 1985, 1995, or ‘elsewhen.’
“I was “sent” to get an IBM computer system called the 5100. It was one the first portable computers made and it has the ability to read the older IBM programming languages in addition to APL and Basic.”
– J. Titor, Nov 15, 2000
  1. VOIP: Titor correctly predicted the development of phone calls being run across the internet, again, in a time where downloading a picture over dial-up took minutes.
“Many people use the Internet for communication and entertainment. I would say that affects our speech. We type very fast.”
– J. Titor, Feb 15, 2001
  1. Soldier’s Winter Poem: Titor correctly predicted the poem, by name, “A Soldier’s Winter” and its topic. There is more to this particular prediction and statement about “A Soldier’s Winter“ than meets the eye, however.
“A Soldier’s Winter.”
-J. Titor, Feb 21, 2001
  1. Second gulf war: Titor correctly predicted a second incursion into Iraq by allied forces. There is also more to this statement by Titor as well. But that’s a little advanced for right now.
“Are you really surprised to find out that Iraq has nukes now or is that just BS to whip everyone up into accepting the next war?”
-J. Titor, Feb 25, 2001
  1. WMD and ‘hype’: Titor correctly predicted that the WMD story was hype and not to be believed (also, there is more to this statement than is visible on the surface). This statement’s purpose is closely related to statements #6 and #9.
“Are you really surprised to find out that Iraq has nukes now or is that just BS to whip everyone up into accepting the next war?”
-J. Titor, Feb 25, 2001
  1. Optical Measurement for atomic clock: A biggie. Titor correctly predicted the development of a new sort of atomic clock and the reasons why it was an improvement over the then-current ‘radio’ method of atomic measurement (more precise).
Specifically, atomic clocks determine the length of a second by measuring the frequency of a particular atom. Cesium, Rhodium, etc. Measuring this frequency is done using something called the “radio method” which makes use of a gas and hitting that gas and atom with a microwave (the ‘radio’ part of the measurement). However, Titor claimed that a new ‘time machine’ had been developed that makes use of an optical means of measuring the atom’s frequency, an improvement. The Optical Frequency Comb was developed after Titor’s departure which enabled the measurement of an atom’s frequency optically, and which also allowed for greater precision in that measurement. Titor’s statement is a 3-fer:
He predicts an optical measurement system for atomic clocks.
He predicts the new system measures oscillation and not some other aspect.
He predicts this new system increases measurement precision and not some other aspect.
“The C206 uses 6 cesium clocks but they use an optical system to check the oscillation frequency. This makes the worldline divergence confidence much higher.”
– J. Titor, Nov 7, 2000
  1. Ginger: The most enigmatic piece of evidence and what originally spurred me to look closer at this ‘confirmed hoax’ in 2010. In the very opening of Titor’s posts in 2000, someone asked three questions to allow Titor to ‘prove’ he was legitimate. Those questions were:
“1. What was the final death count in the recent India earthquake?
  1. What is the "Ginger" (IT) invention?
  2. Who wins the Stanley Cup (Hockey) this year?”
  • M. Kolesnik, Jan 29, 2001
As you see, questions 1 and 3 are of the magic eight ball variety and are wholly inappropriate to assess Titor’s truthfulness. But we’ll extend some grace to Mr. Kolesnik as it was so early on in their discourse. And Titor demurred on answering these two questions anyway. He refused to answer the first question because he claimed he simply didn’t know. And he refused to answer the third question because he felt it to be unfair for someone to earn money using his information (pointing to a larger context of rules by which they operate).
But, the middle question, ‘
what is Ginger
’ did not violate either of those two questions so he acquiesced and answered it. He answered by saying,
“It looks like a sort of motorized scooter. What do you think IT is?”
– J. Titor, Jan 29, 2001
This answer immediately got my attention because, in 2000 when the question was asked, the answer was truly unknown, thus Mr. Kolesnik’s question. However, in 2009 when I was first looking into the Titor narrative, I knew what Ginger was because I remembered it. Hindsight truly was 20/20.
As a bit of background, during 1999 (the exact timing escapes me), a ‘viral’ marketing campaign was underway by an inventor named Dean Kamen. While never revealing what this new product was, the billboards merely asked,
“What is IT?”
or
“What is Ginger?”
That was all they said. It is obvious now, and was obvious even then, that Kamen was attempting to create a buzz for his new invention. Fair enough. It also explains why it was asked of Titor in 2000. Kamen’s ad campaign was working! People were truly wondering.
Now understand, the hype (and I use that term specifically) surrounding the Ginger ad campaign was fairly strong. Kamen predicted that his invention would reinvent how people moved about cities; it would cause their utter redesign and how they were laid out and organized. Big claims, to be sure. So strong in fact that Kamen was able to land a spot on Good Morning America where he finally revealed what his invention was.
In December of 2001, and live on the air, Kamen, with Katie Couric, revealed Ginger to the world. Ginger was none other than the Segway.
And what did Titor say it was?
“A type of motorized scooter”
And Stella says there’s nothing more to learn

Get the Book
Titor’s absolute spot-on declaration of what Kamen’s invention was nearly a year before it was unveiled hit me right between the eyes. Eight years later, I already knew that Ginger was the Segway because I remembered the event.
Here was a maniac on the internet claiming to be a ‘time traveler’ and he correctly ‘guessed’ what Ginger was a mere 2 Âœ hours after it was asked and 11 months before it was officially unveiled?
It was Titor’s statement here that caused me to look deeper (much deeper, in fact) into the Titor narrative and, after exhaustive research and extensive supporting evidence, I concluded that Titor was in fact, legitimate.
Now here’s the truly interesting part of this piece of the Titor saga: you can’t find this statement about Ginger online anywhere anymore. It has been scrubbed from online sources everywhere.
Now, when I first discovered the Titor story, I saw that there appeared to be a couple different versions of the posts and I just, by chance, found a version of the posts with the Ginger reference in it. I saw that some versions had the Ginger reference, and some did not. At the time, I did not know how to understand this. But I do now.
Revisiting Old Theories As I mentioned before, hindsight is 20/20, and that is especially true when discussing ‘time travel’ and ‘time travelers.’ So, it seems oddly appropriate to provide a few examples of updated information that only revealed themselves with the fullness of time after publication.
‘leader’ In Conviction of a Time Traveler, I found the following quote especially interesting:
“The President or “leader” in 2005 I believe tried desperately to be the next Lincoln and hold the country together but many of their policies drove a larger wedge into the Bill of Rights. The President in 2009 was interested only in keeping his/her power base.”
  • J. Titor, Feb 19, 2001
And it wasn’t necessarily the full content of Titor’s statement here, it was those damn quotes around the word ‘leader.’ Why would he put quotes around a word so simple in its definition? In COATT, I surmised that Titor was referring to Obama at the time for a variety of reasons. Namely the very high coincidence factor between facts surrounding Obama and Lincoln. My own belief also was that Titor would not consider Obama as the rightful leader of the United States due to the known problems with his birth certificate, thus making him ineligible for the Presidency. Thus, Titor wrote ‘leader’ with those quotes around it indicating his misgivings.
Of course, here we are 24 years after Titor’s statement and 12 years after I wrote COATT, and I have now come to a different conclusion about the quotation marks around the word ‘leader’. I now surmise that Titor was referring to Biden and not Obama when he wrote that. Because I personally didn’t have a ‘time machine’ at the time, I never could have expected the dementia patient currently ‘in’ the White House and supposedly ‘leading’ the country. For anyone watching, it is patently obvious that Mr. Biden isn’t ‘leading’ anything. So, in the context of this and our current national situation, those quotation marks sure make a hell of a lot more sense now, don’t you think? This reassessment obviously puts a giant bullseye on the 2024-2025 time period for what Titor commented upon in 2000.
So, yes. I have reassessed this particular conclusion since publishing Conviction of a Time Traveler due to the slow passage of time and its equally slow revelation of Truth.
Gates Another interesting comment by Titor had to do with Bill Gates. Recall that in 2000/2001, Bill Gates was ‘merely’ the CEO of Microsoft. He was among the richest men in the world and many news stories of the time commented upon this fact. Almost kind of like Elon Musk’s notoriety in both scope and scale. So, as such, a forum participant named ‘Joe’ asked Titor for any information regarding Bill Gates’ future. Titor’s response?
“This I do know but I won’t discuss.”
-J. Titor, Feb 23, 2001
An interesting, if not completely unhelpful, answer. Wouldn’t you say?
Considering we now know how Gates has morphed from Tech Titan selling mediocre products to Farmland baron, GMO mosquito breeder and mRNA advocate and (alleged) mass murderer in India and elsewhere in the third world, Titor’s statement that he does know about Gates’ future rings true.
In fact, what was also a bit interesting was when someone later pressed him on any information regarding Gates’ future. To which he responded,
Just curious, why is he of such interest?
-J Titor, Mar 5, 2001
Considering what we know now about Gates and his predilections (his ‘wife’ deserted him upon revelation of his visits to Epstein Island), I’m willing to bet that John was naturally curious as to why Gates, of all people, was of such interest to the forum participants that they would ask twice about him. Coincidence? Or did Titor suspect a mole from a different program in the forum? Who knows. His curiosity about their curiosity in Gates is interesting, nothing more.
Conclusion And there you have (some of) it. A summary of some of the evidence documented in Conviction of a Time Traveler written nearly 15 years ago. The evidence contained in that small book has never been debunked or disproven. It has been plagiarized by some and ignored by others. If you were unaware of COATT and are a regular participant in the online discussions about ‘time travel,’ you should ask yourself why the ‘leadership’ on those forums never mention COATT. Curious, don’t you think?
The reason I wrote COATT in the first place was because, after I had done my own research to satiate my own personal curiosity, I realized that some people online were downplaying his posts’ importance in the hopes that they could dissuade people from believing in Titor and the possibility of ‘time travel.’
I saw this dishonesty and decided to fight back against it by merely providing the information I discovered. From my point of view, Titor was warning us about a very severe time in our future that would upend the status quo and was to be a highly dangerous one.
Taken at face value (always a good starting point), Titor’s warnings merited being taken seriously. Had the naysayer’s deceit been left unanswered, how many of you would have failed to prepare for what is just around the corner? You have prepared, haven’t you?
And yes, as is readily obvious to many, those hard times are right around the corner. Looking at Titor’s statements 24 years later and simply looking around at the state of America and the world, do his statements seem so outlandish now?
John’s ‘final’ words to the forum in March of 2001 ring eerily prescient now:
Bring a gas can with you when the car dies on the side of the road.
-J. Titor, Mar 23, 2001
It is my sincerest hope that my small book project (and the essays that followed) spurred you to think twice about the world we live in and take the necessary actions you feel you should to keep you and your family safe for the world’s awakening and rebirth.
